Anime watch list Summer 2023

✅️Taisho otome fairy tale: super cute show. Magnificent hurt/comfort, mature themes, doesn't shy away from some gross stuff, but it's all very pointed and beautiful. Great characters, conflict and MC girl that wins you over with her care.

Watched Spring 2023:

Yamada-kun to Lv999 no Koi wo Suru: Very good. Best series of the season and one of my top three romance series this year. Thoughtful, adult student setting at University, heartwarming characters, great friendships, everyone looks out for everyone. There is strenght in kindness and independence in how the MC's niceness. A guy who is blunt but way too kind is a great conflict.

Hell's paradise: The visuals. The characters. This series manages to make you invested for everyone with the littlest screen time. Epic and different and actiony and with many philosophical musings and moral dilemmas along the way.

Mashle - Shameless Harry Potter rip off, but funny and twisty in its simple way. When you love that setting, you will enjoy this one.

Legendary hero is dead - This is funny and ironic and the MC is so unapologetic and terrible it even becomes funny and likeable.

Shikimori - older series with a killer posing as a student at an academy for gifted. A villianness that starts to question her mission. Great development. Original in its brutality and show of brainwashing.

No guns life - Great world, idea and setting, but it sure put me off after first 3 episodes for the deutragonist doing exactly what the villian just did to him. Brr.

Honey and clover - I really wanted to like this one. Students, love, relationships, fame, good rating...its slow and confusing and I give up.

Sacrificial princess and the king of beasts - interesting premise, fluffy, very shallow though. If you want something relaxing maybe

Some thoughts on the anime NANA. (´ ∀ ` *)

Even though I watched a lot of anime, I somehow never got the chance to watch NANA. I always head it on my to-watch-list, so yeah, I'm finally catching up on that.

The art style is very typical for this Shōjo genre, especially at that time (2006). Although it took me a bit to get used to the thin legs :D

What I love about the show:

Genuine conversations between the characters

Genuine relationships (I love Nana's and Hachiko'ss relationships, it's so wholesome and honest and Nana's Ren's.)

hardly any typical fan service even though there are many mature topics and special scenes

the old school fashion and the style all in all !! Also almost every character has some of Vivienne Westwood's jewelry (because of this show, I surely will buy earrings and a necklace from her)

character growth (multidimensional characters that show interest, love, sensibility!)

old school flip phones with pendants

no instagram

the music and the genre are so on point with the series, ugh it's so nostalgic

the humor is cute

the romantic scenes are good enough to make me literally squeal

I really enjoy watching it.

I just watched the first episode of zom 100, and I just loved it!! I loved how they play with colors according to the life and feelings of the main character

I liked that everything starts colorfully, when he is super excited about his new job, happy that he will be able to fulfill his dreams, and with several ambitions

later, when he sees that the company only cares about exploiting its workers, when he realizes that with each passing day it gets more and more tiring to live only for the work, the colors gradually fade, until everything is gray

and when the zombies start attacking, the blood is colored, as if it gives new life to things, although death is involved

and when he finally realizes that the next day he will no longer have to work and live the monotonous life he had, the colors come back!! full of life!!

I loved how they portray that it is easier for the apocalypse to happen than for capitalism to end!

and when that actually happens, the character is so happy to be rid of his miserable life that he ends up being happy to be surrounded by the bloodthirsty undead!

Hey so there’s this indie short film coming out later today called Gruff. This guy has been working on it for almost three years in his garage and he made it to cope with his dad passing away. He’s also been posting things on YouTube and Instagram about his process with the film. The thing that really makes this film stand out is that it’s made almost entirely OUT OF PAPER. I’ve had my eye on this project for a few months now and I’m just really excited for it to come out. Inazuma Eleven. Good anime about soccer. And like anime, its very interesting and cool and it's about the power of friendship! And all of the characters are very queer coded and nd coded and they're literally Team as A Family and Found Family.

The players are all superpowered and insane and i love them all dearly

Season 1 is about the main team getting into the FF, and them nearly dying along the way! The final team they had to face was a bunch of kids who were totally NOT drugged to be crazy strong (i say clenching my fists and griting my teeth) and those kids have a god complex

Season 2? Oh honey, this one is insane. TL;DR, a bunch of "Aliens" came down and started destroying schools, the main team went out on a mission to be the best team to beat these "Aliens"
