You know, as a dedicated Jessa stan I wanna say that it's okay~ Because these two were together for 50 years or sth, there's still some things to add. We might watch them in their 30s, 50s, 60s. I guess at this point both camps have around the same amount of content. Plus I'll have Jessa in twp so I'm in peace 🌱

📍Clace

All my first thoughts are over here. I'm a Clace defender, I'm their oldest stan, I'm a veteran👩‍🦳 So I feel like I have a right to say that...it was kinda unnecessary. We've witnessed every step in their relationship so far, beginning of it in TMI, gentle transition to adulthood in TDA and Tales of Shadowhunter Academy, adulthood in SOBH and proposal. So if the story isn't about their wedding then WHAT THE HELL IS IT ABOUT REALLY? And we know that they won't get married until twp.

📍Anna & Ari (Arianna!)

Hey🥺that is nice, we've seen so little of them in chain of thorns and I've loved them since their debut in 2018 in that short story. I'm very biased when it comes to TLH, cause I'm their mother. So YAY🌱they have a long way to go, Anna still needs to change a tiny little bit for them to be healthy, so I'd love to witness it

We all have known about it, because Cassie kinda promised us their story a while ago. Wedding runes scene, honeymoon, kids, mortgage etc. Go kids, slay, serve, eat and so on, I'm excited for u!

Yeah... That famous Sebastian &Fanbase. Like... I'm conflicted, because it's useless and doesn't make any sense even tho it might slay. Listen up, I'll show you.

Lots of people defend it by saying that it might be important for Ash's background in TWP. But... No it's not. Because this is exclusive book made for few people who were lucky and financially stable enough to get it. It won't be posted online. So most people won't read it unless someone leaks it. So there's no point for that story to be important for the plot, therefore it has nothing to do with it.

And it's definitely not "one of the most beloved" couples. BUT LIKE... WHAT IF IT SLAYS? Toxic, unhinged romance, what if I'll love it? 🤡

📍Jemma

So you see the problem? Because it's the same as Clace. What else might she add, because there's nothing. SoBH ended like yesterday. We know exactly where they live rn, their daily routine, their plans. So there's nothing to add between SOBH and twp. What will it be about? Hard to say, but I hope Cassie will come up with sth interesting for them.

That is fine. No matter what I think about their relationship, because in my point of view Cristina and Kieran fell in love because Cassie said so apparently, I still don't mind them being there. Because there's also lots of things to discuss and explore. I hope the story will be soft and warm☀they've just started their advantage so it definitely makes sense

Even though we've had lots of them in TMI and Shadowhunters Academy I still think they deserve to be here. They are famous (I guess? 👁👁) and I'd like to know more about their plans for future. Simon was still a teenager in the stories collection and now I'd love to see him as a grown man being in relationship with the woman he loves.

Well... That was... Unexpected. I guess... I've just never met their fandom but I hope it's huge af, because I don't know why else would they be here. Sophideon, Gabrily and Charlotte with Henry were supposed to be here, let's be honest. But since they're here, I do think Cassie is able to make a decent story. I expect it to be bittersweet, angsty and somehow heartwarming. I think there's nothing to say except let's wait and find out.

OVERALL I think it's pretty fine. Maximum 7/10 from me. I was ready to face the worst, but it turned out to be... Fine. So it's fine☺🌱

I can't freaking wait for Better in Black and the first chapter of The Wicked Powers!! The ship list has finally been released for it.

Will and Tessa : Feeling kind of ambivalent about this. I love them, but I prefer Jessa anyway and we just got some content of them in The Last Hours so. . . . *shrugs* Can't say it's unexpected, though.

Clary and Jace: Yes!! YES YES YES!!! I mean, I was pretty sure they were going to be in this, since they're one of the main couples of TSC and the title of the book is from one of Jace's quotes, but still. I am so happy!! I hope this is from when they're being amazing badass heads of institute. Or maybe Lightwood family time?? Whatever, I don't care, I'm just glad one of my all-time OTPs is in.

Anna and Ariadne: My whole The Last Hours experience was weird, so I don't really remember much about them, but I loved them in Every Exquisite Thing and can't wait to see more!

James and Cordelia: Neutral about this one too. The whole James/Matthew/Cordelia love triangle and the way the three of them behaved in the second and third books ruined both Herondaisy and Fairstairs for me. Heronchild for the win!

Sebastian and the Seelie Queen: Weird choice, definitely not expected, but I can't wait to see what this story is about! From some Twitter screenshots I gather this is going to set at least something up for The Wicked Powers. And there is something intriguing about this couple and how they tie in to the whole theme of love in these short stories. The rest of the couples all have - mostly - healthy relationships, so this one should be different.

Emma and Julian: I adore these two and I'm always happy for more Blackstairs, but we literally just had Secrets of Blackthorn Hall?? Maybe it's a flashback from when they were kids, because I would love that. Then again, they are a main couple and all of those are here.

Thomas and Alastair : Yes!!! Hopefully Zachary is there too. Thomastair rom-com?? Sign me the hell up!

Mark, Kieran and Cristina: Faerie politics + an amazing ship. Expected since the couple or throuple thing, but still thrilled!

Simon and Isabelle: Finally some Sizzy content!! Awesome! We haven't had an Izzy POV since what, City of Heavenly Fire?? I really hope it's that. And I want to see Simon recruiting or helping with the new Academy at Luke's farm!

Luke and Jocelyn: Okay, not a fan, even if I liked the scene in City of Glass where they got together. But I do love some Circle content, and the two people who love and are loved by Valentine most during the time they realize how far off the rails he's going? Interesting. I'm hoping there'll be a flash present with an announcement that Clary's getting a sibling. (And how angsty will it be if it's a girl with red hair and blue eyes like in Clary's This World Inverted vision??) (Though I do get if Jocelyn is too traumatized to have more kids).

I was hoping so much for Gabrily and Haline, but these choices definitely do not disappoint. Three and a half of my five favourite TSC couples is definitely not a bad result. The anticipation will (hopefully maybe) get me through entrance exams hell.

Ok. Obviously, all the scenes with Magnus. (Not fair that he wasn't around at all in the second half, Cassie I prefer to eat my favourite portions at last rather than the very start 😭)

Every scene with Christopher!!! He was barely around in the 1st 2 books and it was sooo good to see this more emotionally mature side of him. (If they were there in the 1st 2 books, I have forgotten. I am sorry :'))

Same with Anna - her leadership skills really shone in this book and I'm 😍😍😍

All of the beautiful romantic scenes. Jordelia, Ghostwriter, Thomastair and Arianna. All of them fucking popped off

Same for the platonic relations!!! Gosh they were all so well done. We got some great Lucie/Cordelia scenes, and Merry Thieves scenes, and ofc the Cordelia/Alastair scenes

JESSE!!!! His and James's relationship is something I did NOT know I needed and I just loved it ahhhhhhh

Honestly I'm more surprised than anything else that they all actually decently communicated in this book. Except James who pined for like 300 pages all like "I can't tell Cordelia about the Gracelet she'll pity me"

Heck the whole Mordelia (sorry) kiss. I am NOT a fan of them, buuuut I understand why it happened - in that moment, they both felt completely alone, they felt awful about themselves, they just needed a reprieve.

James's whole reaction to their kiss. Heck all of his angsting over the both of them before he even reached Paris.

When Matthew asked Cordelia if he was truly that unlovable :')

(Side note, I'm a little surprised that none of the other ships had much angst, sure we had the characters figuring themselves out, figuring out what they wanted, etc. etc. but except maybe Alastair telling Thomas he was leaving Tehran, not much angst)

Preach. It is so annoying how much emphasis there has already been on the James, Matthew, Cordelia love triangle that is going to so underdeveloped. She has one book to introduce this triangle and solve it because it was really such a minor thing in Chain of Iron. Instead she should be focusing on the other characters who was given the bare minimum about of page time. The reality is thomastair is going to get like three scenes and almost all of them will be angsty. My guess is that she may fake killing one of them off, but won’t actually because that would require actual focus and page time on them :)

hi! after seeing it so much mentioned lately, I wanted to ask if in that angsty piece do you plan on making gabrily get an extra kiddo

There are theories on that Isidore is actually their son but listed as Grace as she may have helepd them raise him, or that they have a girl Felicia Lightwood (mentioned in the bane chronicles). I think it would be angsty if they get preggo again unwanted, but at the same time in the long run I think it would do them good to have one more to light up the grief as its something I have seen in real life happening to parents who lost a kid that when they had another their grief started to be more bearable given they spend a lot of their efforts in this new kiddo

I always thought of Felicia Lightwood as Thomastair kid, and Isidore being one of Cassie’s plot holes (Or maybe Anna/Ari’s kid?)

thomastair week day three - fluff / angst (@youngreckless)

- when thomas has a really bad day, alastair will make the two of them some hot choclate, and he’ll lay down with thomas on the couch and brush through his hair and just hold him until thomas feels okay enough to talk about it or move on

- if alastair walks in the door after a bad day, thomas will put down whatever he’s doing, cancel plans, and listen to alastair rant and complain and whine (because alastair knows he can be as petty and annoying as he wants, thomas knows him too well to think its anything more than exhausted dramatics), and he’ll usually go along with whatever alastair wants to do for the night

- alastair has bad nightmares. whether its his father, the academy days, resurfaced fears of thomas leaving, they have alastair waking up half in tears, sweating and shaking. he’s mastered the art of being silent through the terror, but fortunately thomas has mastered the art of knowing alastair. alastair hates how thomas always wakes up no matter how quiet he is, but he’ll always be grateful for the comfort thomas gladly provides, and alastair will never take how he falls back asleep to comforting words and grounding arms for granted.

- speaking of, on bad mental days, buried fears of being irreversibly evil and thomas leaving will resurface, and thomas will spend the entire day hugging alastair and saying i love you, doing random little acts and favours, because actions mean more than the empty words alastair has become numb to, and if thomas has to learn to make traditional tea from sona every day of his life to prove he’s never leaving, he gladly will

- one flip through of thomas’s sketchbook will show a gallery of alastair carstairs. once alastair saw and tried to tease thomas, but all he got in return was a shameless reply of “well i have the most beautiful reference in the world right in front of me, it’d be a sin not to capture him as much as possible” alastair is rarely speechless but thomas has a habit of casually snatching the words and breathe right out of alastairs lungs

- thomas gets a nasty cut across his arm during a fight, and while alastair is fussing over him and fixing it up, he demands to know what happened, becoming more and more suspicious every time he’s refused an answer. after a empty threat of sleeping on the couch, thomas gives in, and blushing like he’s been painted red, reluctantly explains how he had looked up to see alastair briefly wielding cortana and that image had left him with a brain so short circuited that thomas hadn’t even realized he was injured until james shoved him out of the way. alastair gives him a fond look and says he’s glad thomas is okay, but he files that away for later teasing.

- once alastair was badly hurt in a fight, to the point where the silent brothers had suggested they say their goodbyes, just in case. alastair is a fighter and as always, he pulls through, but thomas sleeps over his heartbeat for months and for the first few weeks you’d never catch thomas not touching alastair. they’re usually always touching anyway, but for those few weeks thomas is attached to alastair, whether it’s linked pinkies, legs pressed together, a hand on a pulse, thomas is always near alastair for his own sanity. no one has the heart to make clingy jokes, they’ve never seen a person so broken as thomas walking out of alastairs room knowing he might’ve just said goodbye for good

- They Are Soulmates. in the sense that it’s just two souls made for each other, whether it’s siblings or friends or lovers or family, not all perfect relationships are soulmates but they are. they understand each other from world views to motivations, they can finish each other’s sentences and communicate silently. once they had a conversation by looking at each other with varying expressions and minimal body movements, and everyone around them just sat there confused to all hell

- alastair once lay on top of thomas, got a pen, and drew constellations with the freckles on thomas’s face and made up his own legends and stories behind them. he was too focused on drawing and thinking that he didn’t notice the look on thomas’s face, a look of pure love pure and adoration so in love he could cry

- alastair took them to paris for their anniversary, and planned a whole day out. by the fourth stop thomas realized they were retracting the steps of their days in paris in 1902, which was how he ended kissing alastair breathless in the dark seclusion of a parisian movie theatre

- they never fight. ever. partially because they get along and understand each other so well, but it’s mostly because they’re so good at communication. they used to squabble and fight a lot, with thomas not being an incredible communicator with repressed concerns about being a burden causing him to never complain, combined with alastair whos so used to carrying everything and holding everything in until he spills over. but they stick together, and thomas learns that anything bothering him isn’t dumb, it’s valid and worth vocalizing, and alastair learns to share burdens and let himself be vulnerable. they always felt comfortable around each other, they’ve always understood each other, but love doesn’t erase trauma, and they’ve slowly but lovingly mastered the art of communication and it’s resulted in healthy discussions and compromises, with never a raised voice or toxic ultimatums

Those ones you get from the store which arent good but arent bad either.

Barbara always thought they gave the cookie too much hate just because they werent chocolate chips so decided she would buy oatmeal cookies. She ate them so much it became her favorite

And suddenly it hit him, that she wasnt there to buy them anymore, that they no longer had oatmeal cookies

It was the middle of the night, but it all felt like too much. He NEEDED to do smth

So ge went out walking, he went to buy the goddamn oatmeal cookies. Only in his anger he just kept walking, and walking, so determined to go get those cookies

He got lost, in the middle of the night

Only realizing halfway all the stores were closed

He femt at his final straw

Feeling like he was gonna break in the middle of the street he called Alastair, asking if there was any chance he couls pick him up because he was lost in the middle of town and his parents would worry

And Alastairs about to tease him about getting lost but it sounds like Thomas is near tears

So he asks for him to send him his location and he goes pick him up, only he brings him to his house

And says hes not letting him drown alone in his tears
