read my full review of dream on by angie hockman here.
What would you do if your dream man turned out to be real?
When law student Cass Walker wakes up after surviving a car accident, she is flooded with memories of her boyfriend, Devin. The only problem? Devin doesn’t exist. But everything she remembers about him feels so real, like the precise shade of his coffee-brown eyes; the texture of his favorite hand-me-down scarf; even the slightly crooked angle of his pinkie, broken after falling off a trampoline in third grade. She knows he’s a figment of her imagination—friends, family, and doctors confirm it—but she still can’t seem to get him out of her head.
So when she runs into the real Devin a year later in a Cleveland flower shop, she’s completely shocked. Even more surprising is that Devin actually believes her story, and soon they embark on a real-life romance. With her dream man by her side and an upcoming summer job at a prestigious law firm, Cass’s future seems perfect. But fate might have other plans…
my review:
I enjoyed Shipped, this author’s previous book, so I was intrigued by this one. The premise especially seemed wild, and I wanted to know what happened. Dream On was a swoonworthy romance about the real man of your dreams.
When Cass Walker wakes up from a coma due to a car accident, she’s shocked to find out that her vivid memories of her boyfriend Devin aren’t real—that is, Devin doesn’t exist at all. A year later, she’s mostly resumed her regular life, walking into Perry‘s flower shop one day, only to find out that he’s Devin’s brother. Cass and Devin set off to find out how she knows so much about him without ever meeting him while she also gets to know Perry better and tries to decide whether a life of cutthroat law is what she really wants.
I liked the characters! Cass is determined and levelheaded, except the fact that she can’t get Devin out of her head. Brie, her best friend, is so supportive and always there for her; I liked seeing the strength of their friendship. Devin is the typical love interest, one that seems perfect for Cass at first. While Cass butts heads with Perry at first, it soon becomes apparent that he’s also very caring and defensive of his brother.

15 Sexy Travel/Road Trip Romance Books
This romance trope is a personal favorite of mine, because I love the forced proximity and constant contact that comes from traveling together. Spending all of your time with another person reveals so much about your relationship – good and bad – and it can shift the dynamics in the blink of an eye. Forced to go on a work trip with your office rival? Now’s your chance to see them out of the…

Thank you so much to NetGalley for allowing me to read an ARC of the novel "Dream On" by Angie Hockman! This book is scheduled to release on July 5th, 2022.
Let me first start out by saying that this read was personally a 4.5/5 stars for me! I thought that the premise was very unique - Cass wakes up from a 6-day coma following a car accident and is very insistent that she has been dating someone named Devin Bloom for the last 3 months - despite the fact that her best friend Brie and her mother are thinking otherwise, because she's never mentioned him before to either of them, or shown them a picture of him. When she is finally released from the hospital, she finds herself drawing him in her sketchbook.
One day, she walks into a flower shop to celebrate a job opportunity and comes face to face with the man she's claimed to have been dating. Together, the two of them work to figure out how their paths might've crossed in a previous moment.
At first, I totally thought that I had this book figured out. When the story mentions that Devin has a scar on his face, I assumed that it was from the accident, and that he'd collided with her on the road, many months ago. I was so ready to call this book predictable, but then it threw me for a loop that even I didn't see coming. For some reason, I also didn't make the "Mercedes" connection" - but that's good, because not knowing is what made this even more of an enjoyable read for me!

do you have any book (or movie recs) that have similar characters to James and Lily? I feel like when I am looking for enemies to lovers books, the characters are just off, or it's just like an aggressive perversion of a great trope. I just want more stories about two good people falling in love lol
i will say that it's so tricky to find media that has the same dynamic... it's usually missing a few ingredients from the special sauce, imo — like, the way the characters interact feels the same but the social positions are inverted... or the vibes are similar but some key detail is kinda off... which is good AU fodder lmao but anyway i say this because the same is true of all of what im gonna recommend here and i want to set ur expectations to where mine tend to be when my jily vibe radar goes off. i.e., i will take the parts i like and enjoy what is there for what it is and then dream up an AU
if you're the same anon who asked @clare-with-no-i about this late last year, you will already kno this, but i'm going to mention some of the classics people mention in terms of starter jily, plus some crowdsourced thoughts:
anne of green gables (which i never read as a child) // anne with an e (which i did watch and adore)
anastasia (1997)
parks and rec (for ben and leslie — i am not a watcher of this show but people do be saying this)
brooklyn 99 (for jake and amy — obviously not perfect but i do see this)
lockwood and co (my jily girlies do seem to love this show)
rogue one (yes the star wars movie, trust)
pirates of the caribbean (ALSO TRUST!!!!!)
here are some that are my stupid little opinions and some books i think r worth trying:
pride & prejudice BUT ALSO emma (james is emma, lily is knightley # real ones know) BUT ALSO persuasion — u can watch the first two but u simply must read the third
palm springs (2020)
a lady's guide to fortune hunting by sophie irwin
shipped by angie hockman
a crown of wishes by roshani chokshi
if you could see the sun by ann liang
the nonesuch by georgette heyer
been watching the artful dodger recently and this is an example of the inverted social status thing but it's real fun and i love it
and trust me on this: anything w george clooney and julia roberts as love interests

132 books! Holy moly. I know it would be asking A LOT but do you think you could post a list of all books? If you don’t want to it’s ok. But wow….
HAHA I know it's nuts but I always have a book on me so I reread in between any free moment. It also turns out that it's 130 books since I double-checked on GoodReads!
I initially had a reading goal of 75 books then bumped it to 100. Throughout this year I've realized, I pick and choose between hobbies so if I'm reading, I don't do any other things. So I sacrifice time to play on my switch/watch tv/write because reading takes first place. Also, GoodReads does count epilogues and webtoons as books so I do as well lol. Which is how I'm currently on the 131st book 😂 But sure! I love talking about books so I will list them under the read more!
