Aaaa I just discovered this blog and it's really interesting! I don't know too much about xenogenders/neopronouns since they kind of get me very overwhelmed due to my need to Absolutely understand everything and categorize/label stuff when I'm in a community (ex: fandoms, archetypes, tropes) so this might be a dumb question but.. what exactly are titles and what are they used for? And how should someone go about when making a gender-system? I'm asking because I plan on making one for a story and don't really know how to go about it.. anyways, so sorry for this dumb ask! there are no dumb questions here!! i’ll put the two explanations under the cut since it’z kinda long. sorri abt that! the gender systems i mention have alreadi been created, and i’ve linked them where i mention them if you wanna check them out!!

okk so titles are basicalli a name that describes someone or a certain aspect of them. does that make sense? it’s kinda like a name or pronouns in that they can give someone euphoria and they’re a way of describing a person. like a realli simple one that’z used outside the mogai communiti bc it’s an actual like position would be the prince!! more creative titles that aren’t used in day-to-day life might be “the creator of the heavens” or “(pronoun) who creates life.” these are more creative and descriptive than just a “job” title (i put in quotes bc i’m not sure if being a prince is considered a job LOL. but a more job-like one would be the baker). but yeah, they’re p much used as one would use a name or a pronoun, which is to address people.

as for gender systems, there are a few things that are considered sort of…gender system etiquette, shall we say?

1) think of the concept you want to convey. do you want a gender system where one’s gender is decorated with smth (genderdecorated)? or maybe one where one’s gender is related to certain fonts (genderfont)? then take that idea and turn it into a single word. most gender systems don’t have commonli seen gender endings like -ic or -gender, but just the word. am i making ani sense? i hope so 😅

2) take that word and put gender in front of it!! like with genderdecorated and genderfont. people will replace the word gender with the concept (or with genderfont it’z the font name) name of their choosing. like for example, if they want to coin a gender under the genderdecorated gender system where one’s gender is decorated in cuteness, it would be known as cutedecorated.

3) before we go ani further, check to see if the gender system alreadi exists!!!! look up gender_ in the tumblr search bar, and if nothing comes up, you’re probabli good to go!!

4) the next step is creating the flag template. try to make a unique flag template outside of just straight stripes, if possible. if you’re not sure how to do that, check out this quick tutorial here. if you have ani questions regarding this step, feel free to send in another ask!! below is the greyscale color palette i use for my templates. ik it looks boring, but people will use the template as a base and recolor it! this is commonli done w the bucket tool, but there’s probabli other methods. aniways, here’s the palette. simpli put an image layer into your canvas with this as an image and sample out the colors so that you can use them in your flag!!

ignore the colors above and below the greyscale line, i could onli crop it sm </3 keep in mind that you don’t need to use all of these colors in your template!!! they’re just there if you need them.

5) craft the definition, adding in blanks for people to fill in with the concept they want. for more info on what i mean, check out the coining posts to the gender systems i’ve mentioned above (dw, they’re linked!!) or check out any of my gender system coining posts, which can all be found linked in the pinned post of @bloodygendersystems !! sorri that i’m not great at explaining this part. it’z probabli just best to look at examples.

6) this part is optional, but it’z helpful for people who may want to coin under your gender system. upload your flag template(s) to deviantart!! when saving flag templates straight from tumblr, they get a bit blurri, making them harder to recolor. if this has ever happened to anibodi reading this, dw!! i got you. upload the flag you’ve saved from tumblr to this upscaler website, click the highest upscale option available to you, fill out the captcha, click download, and voilà! it should be readi for you to recolor!! ik the website name is kinda weird, but it’z upscale power is unmatched. i’ve also seen other people use it without issue so it should be good!!! i think it’z also an app, but i’ve onli ever used the website.

7) post your gender system!! if you plan on coining ani genders under your gender system, add the names of them into the post so people know not to coin those ones!! you could say smth like “planning to coin x, y, and z, so please don’t coin those unless i get overwhelmed and say you can.” some people might reblog with genders they’re going to coin as well, so make a mental note not to coin those ones.

Hello! I saw your post about not reporting blogs where people express feeling suicidal and venting. Somebody in the reblogs mentioned the same applying to ED posts, so I wanted to ask, does that mean we shouldn't report pro-ana blogs either?

Yes I saw that addition, I was going to reblog with it but completely slipped my mind.

This absolutely applies to pro-ana blogs. They are highly triggering, yeah, maybe they're even anti recovery, they are all sorts of things, but at the end of the day it's just another hurt mentally ill person in need of support. You can easily unfollow these blogs, you can see easily block them. I would encourage doing so absolutely, it makes me uncomfortable too.

The basic thing we need to understand is what "reporting" someone entails. Think of it as going to the authorities and complaining about this person, that's what reporting is like. Which is why it's fine to do it for hate speech and harassment and spam bots and all that. But when we report mentally ill people for showing signs of mental illness we are giving them up to the authorities to be exterminated or locked up or hidden away and cut off from society and possible support systems or losing a space to vent. No one should have that authority over our lives.

The bottom line is that whether a mentally ill person is recovering or not recovering or doing it in a way you don't like, they still don't deserve to be locked up for it. Idk how the application of such laws works in different cases but the vague wording of "is this person harming themselves or shown the tendency to harm themselves in any capacity" (such as exists in most Psychiatric laws) can easily extend to pro-ana people and then they'll just be further traumatised and that's not gonna help anyone.

Block liberally. Block the tags, block the accounts. But understand at the end of the day that it's no different from vent accounts that just need a space to honestly and in an unfiltered way talk about their depression and self harm and suicidal ideation because it's always better for people to have it out than to hide it away. The more people interact with each other, even if they're sharing tips for such harm to others who are choosing to engage this way, the more community they have and the more chances of having if not recovery then at least a support system to fall back on when things get bad. And remember here to not infantilise mentally ill people by saying they don't know better and are getting badly influenced by pro ana or vent blogs. They are there engaging because they have the same thoughts and need someone to talk to about it in a particular way.

I know people who have been in these circles and yes there is harm happening, but cutting those people off from their community doesn't help them, it just drives them into isolation. People find their way out when they're ready and when they are exposed to different ways of dealing with these things.

Ik I'm not gonna come out looking as a model of sanity for this but I got a lot of my self harm under control through harm reduction that included "allowing" self harm in certain situations till I stopped associating it with coping completely and I've been clean for a long while now.

These things, these self destructive techniques we see are a symptom of larger underlying issues and just stopping that behaviour from being seen or isolating it isn't helping. Being able to vent till you detangle the underlying issues is the way to go about it.

Let people be in charge of their recovery or their choice to not go into recovery yet.

It's their own business.

And trust me, pro ana blogs aren't recruiting people without EDs to start having EDs any more than someone venting about being suicidal is trying to get other people to join them in killing themselves.

Honestly just kinda curious about something. Cause I've noticed I've kinda feel into a habit that I just wonder if you have it too.

Cause I'm not used to posting writing on the internet, much less Tumblr inpatticular. But I've noticed that after every bit of writing posted, few and far between as they are, I'll just spent then next couple of days to a full dead ass week, doing nothing but checking the notes over and over to see if people have looked at it.

So I was just kinda curious if this is just a me being new to this thing or if that's more like regular when it comes to sharing writing online?

oh oh! okay this is a thing that should be distinguished, maybe, but either way i want to talk about it.

i know a lot of people do it, but also being new probably heavily factors, as well. my advice, though it may sound overused and cliche, is really just: don’t focus on numbers, seriously!

numbers / notes / likes is something i have actually never focused on since i started writing online like 7 years ago or something, which i think is why i still like writing. hyper-fixating on numbers tends to lead to seeking validation via popularity, not to mention sets expectations. and whenever said expectations are not met, then it kinda just makes you… feel awful about writing.

i’ve seen people get obsessive over like counts, or reads, or followers; but at the end of the day it’s good to note it doesn’t really matter. if you enjoy the actual writing process, then just keep doing it! it’s about having fun writing, not getting “big.”

however, completely different story if you’re just checking notes to see if people have commented, rb’ed (and said smth), etc.! i personally love interacting with people because it’s fun to me, and i like seeing what people say / think. personal preference, but i really like hearing feedback so that’s normally what i only check notes for!

ik it feels very exciting and validating to see big numbers, and it’s definitely nice!—but i think it’s also something that should not be a big deal if not achieved. i actually love building up blogs from zero to however “big” i can grow it, because writing new stuff is exciting to me and also gaining new interactions / people to talk to.

tldr; yeah it’s probably a normal thing, but just remember not to let it alter your spirits about writing!

okay but fr I’d love to get back into writing them if/when I can!! ik I’ve gotten a lot of really sweet messages asking about if I’ll post more that I’ve been saving for the day I do post more lol. but yeah mostly I got really into wheelzier bc mike and richie are two of my most all time favorite characters ever, like I relate to them so much and I find them both so fascinating in terms of their reactions to things and how they interact with various other characters and the world around them, how others perceive them, how they react to that, what they value, how they talk and their mannerisms and their flaws and what they say vs don’t say like they’re both such incredibly rich characters who I care about so so much!! and I love putting them in various different Situations lol. I just feel so happy writing them!! they mean so much to me and I feel like I can take them in so many different directions. and it’s so exciting when two of your favorite characters just make sense together yknow? like you could put two of your favorite characters from any various different franchises next to each other if you wanted, but it’s not always gonna mesh. so it was so exciting to get into wheelzier and be like OH THAT MAKES SO MUCH SENSE THERES SO MUCH TO EXPLORE THERE !!! so yeah writing wheelzier makes me so happy bc i love mike and richie so so much, and so the fact that even one person, let alone multiple other people, read my interpretations of characters I love who they also love and felt I did them justice makes me incredibly happy ☺️💕 nothing is better than putting a character you love into a wildly new situation and having people confirm that you’ve honored the core facets of the character yknow? it’s like taking a machine apart for me lol like taking away setting and timelines etc, what is at the core of these characters? and then having people be like “yeah I also love this character and think about them deeply and I like the things you see in them!! that’s accurate and I enjoyed it and it made me happy!!” like it’s the loveliest feeling in the worldddd 🥰🥰🥰 so yeah that’s how it feels lol. but there are a lot of great wheelzier creators!! and a lot who’ve left fandom sadly, and I miss those people sm 💖💖💖 but yeah uhhh would love to write more about them!!

her writing is fine, but as a person… idk. im not gonna say who it is, but they’re pretty known on tumblr. it really bugs me when she says stuff like that and then her followers just back her up like nothing’s wrong. generally speaking, i believe u can say whatever tf u want on your own blog, but some of the stuff she says just really upsets me, especially since im starting to write on tumblr. i have blocked her, but after seeing some the things she’s said, plus the amount of people that agree with her is making me real self conscious abt my work.

i just block lmao. like deadass half of a lot writers on here ??? chances are i’ve blocked them and tbh that might sound bad but if i see a discourse or a “hot take” that i fully disagree with, or rubs me wrong, i block. and that’s bc i think all of us as writers, even if it’s the smallest part of our brains, compare ourselves to other writers. so i block writers that give me bad vibes bc i don’t wanna subconsciously start comparing myself to them in a manner that makes me question myself like you said. if a writer thinks majority of fanfic mostly sucks now, well i guess they’re not reading my sucky content bc they are b l o c k e d !!!

i actually have like two or three very strongly voiced ppl blocked that always say “fanfic isn’t what it used to be” or “all fanfic is the same now” and i think personally it’s a really entitled and annoying thing to say. if someone came into a writer’s inbox and said those exact things on anon, everyone would jump to attack that anon and say “it’s free content be grateful.” i don’t think someone being a writer gives them the right to dictate such strong opinions openly about other peoples fanfic writing styles/methods/choices. even if you provide content, you’re still consuming free content just as everyone else. it’s one thing to politely offer advice as one writer to another with good intentions, but that’s very clearly seen in your tone and how you word the message. if you think fanfic isnt what it used to be, then write what you want to see ??? it’s simple.

so yeah either way i would block that individual—maybe i already have them blocked too who knows LMAO i hope i do. but i wouldn’t let it get to you because tbh in my experience ppl who have the most to say about other writers have the emptiest masterlists 💀 the rest of us are too busy focusing on our writing to care about what other people are posting and whatnot. block them, block their friends that agree, block anyone else that agrees with them. In my last post about Felix,I literally angry on his action in Strike Back.

But now,when I think again(& because Emotion is already aired),I might a little bit too harsh on Felix.

So.....,here's my opinion on Felix(Flairmidable/Argos)so far.

I still hate him. I still hate him for his action in Felix & Strike Back but in Emotion,my hate on him has become more tolerable.......a bit.

Why do I saying that?

Because his motives/intentions was good. If you watch the episode,yk what I'm talking about. But,there is a caveat,his action on how to do it was more on the villainous side. Ik that he just want to freed himself as well as Adrien & Kagami(if you're totally believing with the sentimonster theory) but by wiping out the people with just a snap of fingers and openly saying to Ladybug that he want the Miraculous just to make his wish....is not a good move for a good intention.(Plus,he's very sus)

But I'll give credit where it's due because he still love his mom and he acknowledged that not all of them are monsters(as what Amelie said earlier). Plus,his motives are more of heroic side. So,I will give it the benefit of the doubt even though it's still unclear which side he should be place. Also,he acknowledged that he shouldn't be carried away with his emotion just to make his wish a reality(which led to the saddest scene in the episode).

So,overall,I will say that,in my opinion,he might be a bad guy(or 'boy' in this context) but a bad guy that you can sympathize for and can related to even though the actions/moves were wrong in any context whatsoever. So,that's why I'm legit to looking forward for his next moves.

(On the unrelated side,Argos is fucking slay. I'm not joking,I love Argos's outfit and he literally slay it. He's a legit finesse character,swear to God.)

hi zaina, im taking you up on your prev post ab anons getting things off their chest. first off, i adore your blog and your writing (esp speak easy speak love), and thank you for doing this ^^

i got waitlisted by a college i really wanted to go to. dream school and whatnot, it had a 20% acceptance rate and i got waitlisted. this is after i had a really shitty application cycle and overall a bad year in 2022 and i was liek: YEAH 2023 is going to be my year. for a while, it was. i got called for a scholarship interview, selected to possibly go to a t5 uni but that fell through. this entire admissions cycle I’ve just gotten “almosts” but never “yes”. and i know it’s not all black and white, but a rejection is a rejection, yk??? it reallly crushes me because i know how hard i worked for this. i really wanted to go to these places and getting those almost rejections makes me feel so horrible. i genuinely want to give up and stop trying because then i know i won’t be disappointed again. and i know adult life has literally just stated for me but why should i put myself through that struggle to eventually end up disappointed anyways?

anyway to what you were saying. i completely understand what you mean, last year i was in the same position as you, i had gotten acceptances in the uk but i had gotten rejected from all my uni applications in the us, the biggest hit was columbia because that’s where my brother went and he had always told me he’d know i’d get in. and i got an interview and everything and then i open my portal and there’s just a that stupid letter saying “unfortunately”. and it really hurt. because i’d always wanted to go there. it’s in new york it’s in the middle of everything and it’s a fucking ivy league. but no.

and i completely get you on the 2022 being a shit year. in my case it was the year before 2021, i failed my y12 mocks and i had a predicted of 35/45 which isn’t bad but for the unis i wanted to apply to it was very low. i had to beg my uni counsellor to even let me apply to some of my choices. but i got into a great uni here in the uk and i worked my ass off to get top grades and several scholarships to get almost a full ride.

i feel like telling you to work hard just isn’t going to help so let me say this. hard work doesn’t always pay off, especially with unis and i know it’s sad and horrible but that’s just the case. but just know that work ethic is going to help you so so much, i was always a lazy person but after working so hard for the ib now uni is so much simpler because i’m able to work focused and dedicated and finish everything i need to do on time. and ik you’ve probably heard this before but waitlisted is not a rejection, it’s not an almost rejection either. and let’s not forget that getting into a uni with 20% acceptance rate is insanely difficult and just so yk i’m so so proud of you for all the work you’ve put into your application and i wish you luck in this endeavour.

last thing cuz this is getting so long, my friend did this a while back to get out of a waitlist, but write letters to your uni about how excited you are for this opportunity, ask for updates on your application and be super super annoying about this. ask them every other day and tell them just how grateful you are for the opportunity. worst case you stay on the waitlist. but best case you get a place, it’s worked before so. feed into their ego!!

i hope you know that you’re not alone and there are thousands of people who feel the way you do and you all deserve a place at your top school.
