Kate mini version
Anthony Bridgerton x Kate Sharma x sis!reader
summary: Kate's sister is sent to live with Kate and Anthony by her mother who had to travel to India and couldn't take her. Feeling that she was unwanted and intruding on the Bridgerton couple's lives, Y/n starts acting distant. When Anthony and Kate realize this, they try to make Y/n see how much she is loved by everyone
requested: yes
Tumblr media
Y/n was sitting in her carriage for 5 minutes, not having the courage to open the door. She was outside the Viscount and Viscountess Bridgerton mansion, in other words her sister and her brother-in-law. Her hands trembled in her lap as she took a deep breath to try to calm her anxiety and her irregular heartbeat.
Her mother Mary had to travel to India and decided to not let her youngest go with her. As Y/n was still too young to consider it safe to keep her at home alone, even with maids, Mary asked Anthony and Kate to welcome her into their home.
Ever since Mary's older daughter found a husband and went to live a new life, Y/n felt that her relationship with her mother got worse.
The house was quieter, both of them no longer had the usual company of the other sisters. It made Y/n realize how she couldn’t hold a conversation with Mary, at least not like Kate and Edwina. It also didn't help that Y/n was extremely similar to their father, who had already died. It seemed like Mary was grieving again for her late lover, and Y/n was the cause of it.
So, like a snowball effect, Y/n couldn't help but think that Kate and Anthony were just taking her in out of obligation, since they were family, but that she was actually considered a burden for them.
"Would you like for me to open the door, Miss?" the maid who accompanied her asked with a gentle smile.
"There is no need for that, Anne. Thank you." she replied, snapping out of her thoughts.
With a last deep breath, Y/n opened the door just as Anthony and Kate were leaving the house. As soon as she saw them, Y/n bowed slightly. When she lifted her head again she found the two of them with a smile directed at her. But even so, she had doubts, after all, in this society, everyone had learned to master the fake polite smile. Kate hurried to her, pulling her into a tight hug.
"Y/n! It's so nice to have you here. The house can get so quiet when the Viscount is working. It'll be great to have our conversations like we had before." Kate whispered in her ear, Y/n only responding with a small smile.
Anthony approached the younger Sharma to greet her, Y/n bowing again. "Lord Bridgerton, thank you for your hospitality. It was very kind of you."
"By all means, Miss Y/n, you are family. Now let's come inside, Phillip can bring your belongings to your room." Anthony said, linking his arm with his wife and starting to head towards the room where the maids were setting the table for the tea.
Y/n followed behind the couple, her steps cautious. She looked at the huge mansion and sighed, her fears continuously running through her mind. This was going to be a very long month.
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
It was still quite early, the sun's rays barely illuminating the mansion. However, Y/n was already awake and ready for the day. She went down to the kitchen, wanting to help the cooks and maids. It was the least she could do, since now they were cooking for one more person and the day before they had brought her a rather late meal since she didn't eat all of dinner.
The maids were surprised to see the youngest Sharma in the kitchen, tying an apron around her waist. However, with a lot of resistance on Y/n's part, they let the girl help. Y/n had a lot of fun, the maids had a good relationship with each other, throwing in some jokes from time to time that made her laugh.
Y/n was placing the last dish on the table. She had to admit that everything looked great. The food varied from fruit to various cakes and breads. Just in time, Anthony entered the kitchen, stopping in surprise when he saw Y/n there.
"Miss Sharma, I wasn't expecting you to be awake already. It's quite early."
"I'm a morning person, Lord Bridgerton." Y/n chuckled, running her hands down her dress nervously. She then pointed to the table, desperate not to remain in an awkward silence. "Breakfast is ready."
"I see that, everything looks great." he sat at the end of the table. Y/n remained standing, looking around, causing Anthony to hesitate before asking, "Aren't you going to sit down to eat too?"
"Oh! I already ate with the maids, thank you. Hm, is my sister awake?"
Anthony clears his throat, looking down. A frown appeared on Y/n's face when she saw the man's cheeks start to turn pink. "Your sister is still sleeping. She was not feeling well last night so she couldn't sleep much."
"Very well..." The girl nodded slowly. "I shall bring her tea when she wakes up. Until then, I was hoping I could go on for a walk in the gardens? Please?"
"Of course, Y/n, you don't have to ask." Anthony nodded, wiping his mouth with a napkin after drinking some orange juice. "Do you want me to ask a maid to go with you and keep you company?"
"No, it's okay, I prefer to go alone."
"No problem. In the afternoon we should go to my mother's house to play pall-mall. It would be lovely if you decided to join us."
"Oh, I'm not sure yet. I wouldn't want to interrupt your family time." Y/n looked away so as not to show the sadness she felt.
She had never even met Anthony's family properly, only meeting them briefly at the couple's wedding. Either way, with all the stories she'd heard from Kate, she doubted she'd be able to fit into the family dynamic. She was afraid that Anthony was only extending the invitation to her out of obligation to now be living with them, after all, she had never been invited even when her two sisters were.
However, with all these thoughts, the girl did not see the frown that appeared on her sister's husband's face. What do you mean she didn't want to interrupt family time when it was part of it?
Although his family never spent much time with Y/n, it was just because since she was younger, they thought she would feel more comfortable with her mother instead of being dragged around with Edwina and Kate to every event. She had lost her father and moved countries, they didn't want to overwhelm her. However, Anthony's siblings really wanted to meet her, especially Francesca and Hyacinth, who wanted to have a new friend.
"Y/n, you are family. My siblings would love to spend more time with you, especially my sisters." Anthony finally said.
"I will think about it." Y/n offered him a small smile out of politeness. "I will be heading to the gardens. Let me know if you need me. Excuse me, Lord Bridgerton."
When Y/n finally left the dining room, Anthony rubbed a hand over his face in frustration. He really needed to talk to his wife about this.
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
Y/n was lying down on the grass, enjoying the sun's rays that warmed her skin, when Kate found her. After Anthony told her about what happened at breakfast, Kate knew there was something wrong with her younger sister.
Anthony's wife lay down beside Y/n, alerting her to her presence. Y/n lifted her head, offering her sister a small smile. "Are you feeling better?"
"Pardon?" Kate frowned, not understanding the question. Her mouth opened in realization as she remembered what Anthony had told her with a light blush. "Oh, yes, I'm fine. Nothing that a few more hours of sleep couldn't solve."
"I'm glad." Y/n closed her eyes again, enjoying the sunny day.
"Are you enjoying your time here? Lord Bridgerton told me that you cooked with the maids today." Kate said after a few moments of silence.
"Yes, they were lovely. I wanted to help."
"If you had a good time then there's no problem. But you know you don't need to get up early to cook for us. I want you to have fun and be comfortable while you're here."
Y/n remained silent. Her hand started messing with the grass, a way to distract herself. "I know." she replied with a small voice.
"Do you?" the elder Sharma raised her eyebrows teasingly.
But Y/n remained silent, a small frown forming on her face as she thought about what Kate said. In turn, Kate felt her heart tighten with guilt. As she looked at her little sister, she remembered when she was a baby and made exactly the same face when she thought. A sigh escaped her lips, missing having Y/n's company all day.
The three Sharma sisters used to spend every waking moment together, strolling around the garden or simply relaxing in silence. But now, with Kate married and Edwina being courted by the prince, they didn't think about how it would affect Y/n.
"Tell me what is really wrong." Kate asked with sad eyes. Y/n sat down, opening her mouth to start speaking, but nothing came out. "Y/n, I'm sorry I haven't spent much time with you. But I love you, and I want you to be comfortable being here with me and Anthony."
"You didn't just let me stay out of obligation?" the younger sister asked shyly, refusing to look into Kate's eyes, who had also sat up and was trying to lift Y/n's chin with her hand.
"No! In fact, I was the one who asked mother to let you stay with me instead of considering you going with her to India. We wanted you here. I miss seeing my little sister every day. It can get lonely when Anthony works, and I love having you here."
"Really? But when you're bored, don't you visit Lord Bridgerton's siblings?"
"Yes, but no one can replace you. And I'm always talking about you to them, from all the stories I've told, I think they like you more than me!" Kate laughed, her smile widening when Y/n also chuckled. "I'm sure they would be delighted for you to go with us to play pall-mall."
"Hmm, I'm not sure. What if they don't like me?"
"Oh!" Anthony's wife gasped as if it was the most ridiculous idea. "That's impossible! With your heart and your kindness, they would be fools to not like you!"
"I really missed you." Y/n admitted, resting her head on Kate's shoulder.
"Me too. And after mother comes back, our house is still open. You can come here whenever you wish."
"Thank you, Kate. I'm glad you found Anthony, you seem very happy."
"I am happy." Kate assured her. "And just because I am married now, nothing changes between us. You are still my priority."
"Thank you. And I believe a game of pall-mall is not the worst thing in the world. I will join you." the younger girl nodded with a smile, gaining confidence from her sister's words.
"Great! Then you'll also get to see Lord Bridgerton be a sore loser when I win."
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
She was already starting to regret her decision when she saw Anthony's family in the garden, already bickering with each other. She and her sisters were competitive, but not at this level.
"Dear siblings, if you could please just listen to me first." Anthony caught their attention with a sarcastic smile. "This is Miss Y/n, Kate's younger sister. She will be joining us today."
"Another Sharma? We are going to lose!" the younger boy, who Y/n assumed was Gregory, said.
Two other girls came to her, introducing themselves as Francesca and Hyacinth, Anthony's younger sisters. As they excitedly talked, Y/n's nerves began to disappear. Kate watched them closely, relaxing when she noticed that her sister was smiling, looking happy to be making friends. Her husband joined her, letting her lean against him and kissing her cheek.
"I told you it was going to be okay."
"Yeah, I know. But I was so sad that she thought we didn't want her here with us. It's my fault." Kate whispered sadly, feeling Anthony put his arm around her waist in comfort.
"It's not your fault, my love. We have to make her feel welcome, but for now, I think she's having fun." Noticing that Kate still wasn't convinced, he added. "What if the three of us went for a horse ride tomorrow? You once told me that Y/n always wanted to ride a horse, but she never got to learn since your father died. What if I taught her?"
"You would do that?" his wife smiled in delight. "Oh, Anthony, thank you. I'm sure she would love that."
"Anything for my wife and her little sister." Anthony smiled, giving her a chaste kiss on the lips. "I love you."
"Are you being this lovely just so I won't be so competitive in the game?" she laughed teasingly. "Forget it! Prepare to lose, my dear husband."
Kate turned her back on him, going to the others so they could start the game. Anthony enjoyed the view of his wife, wondering how he got so lucky. "I love my life."
While they were playing, Eloise told Y/n how women deserved to go to college and not live just for their husbands. Benedict appeared later, declaring that he was going to save her from her sister's obsessions, making Y/n hide a giggle behind her hand. In turn, he and Collin were extremely funny, especially when Anthony made a bad move and Kate beat him.
Y/n also had time to meet Daphne's son, who seemed to like her and demanded with a cry that she pick him up. She didn't complain, the baby was too cute to refuse anything.
She and her two new friends got tired of playing, preferring to sit under the shade with the baby and play a little with him. Meanwhile, they talked about everything and got to know more about each other. They only realized how much time had passed when Lady Violet Bridgerton called them to drink and eat something.
By late afternoon, Y/n was exhausted but happy. Her family was more complete, and she loved being part of its dynamic.

Warnings| Absolutely none- Just some random cute fluff
Materlist
Tumblr media
Today was a very cold winter day in brooklyn and you had sent bucky out to get more bread from the corner market. It started snowing when he left, which was thirty minutes ago, and it was getting really thick and windy. You were starting to get worried, what if something happened to him? You decided to give it ten minutes until you were going to call him and make sure he wasn’t in trouble. Just as you were about to go to get your phone the door to your shared apartment opened. When Bucky walked through the entry he was covered in snow from head to toe, with a grocery bag in his hand. But what you also didn’t miss to notice was the abnormal lump coming off of his abdomen. “Hey doll, sorry it took me so long, the weathers really getting bad out there.” You stood in front of him speechless did he not think you noticed the now moving lump under his coat. “Buck, what's under your coat?” One thing you always found cute about Bucky was that he couldn’t lie to you. The give away signs were that he couldn’t look you in the eyes, and he’d blush. And right now the big super soldier in front of you looked like a schoolgirl with a crush. “Well, I uh, found her outside on my way back from the market, she doesn’t have a home doll.” As he unzipped his coat a ball of white fluff appeared. “Baby, is that a cat?”,”Yeah.” As soon as Bucky spoke the cat started to move, she tried to crawl up his chest but ended up snuggling back into his arms. Now that she adjusted you could actually see the cat's features, she had big bright blue eyes and tiny little ears. You could now totally understand why he couldn’t leave her behind. She was adorable and the way she looked at you just made you want to melt. “So what do you think of her doll? Can we keep her?” You had no idea your boyfriend could look so innocent, he was giving you the biggest puppy dog eyes with a pout on his lips. How could you ever say no to him or the adorable cat. “Of course we can keep her, Buck.” You couldn’t help but chuckle at the pure excitement on his face and as if the cat knew she had just found a permanent home she jumped out of Bucky’s arms and started to inspect the cozy apartment. After Bucky took off his jacket and boots he pulled you into his arms. “Thank you doll.” Instead of answering him you pulled your head off of his chest to kiss his stubbled jaw. Bucky moved his head down to give you a proper kiss and right before your lips touched there was a loud crash in the living room. "Well I better go check what that was.", "Yeah, I think that's a good idea,Buck."
Later that night when you and Bucky were settled down in bed, he asked “What about alpine.”, “What do you mean Buck?”, “For our new addition to the family.” You loved how easily Bucky said ‘family’ . You felt honored and proud that you were able to keep that special place in his heart.Since Bucky was the one who brought the cat home you thought that he should have the honor of naming her. “I think that's perfect, baby.”
Just after Bucky went to sleep a certain fluffy white cat decided she was going to sleep right on Bucky's chest. You couldn’t help the smile that came across your face, the sight of a man, most are afraid of cuddling with a little cat, was so wholesomely adorable. You were glad that Bucky brought home your new addition to your little family.

Lost in your own mind
Daryl Dixon • She/Her Pronouns • We all have hard days and sometimes we need our partners to hold us just to make it a little less hard • ANGST/SFW • TW: Depression
Requested by: Anon
Tumblr media
I…don’t quite know what’s happening.
The Saviors war ended…I should be happy, right?
Well…Abraham died…Glenn died, and Maggie has to raise her son alone…
Rick kept that monster alive…
Our family split into the communities…
We aren’t…all together anymore.
I don’t know what’s happening anymore
“Are you going home soon?” Carol asks Daryl as she comes to check on him after taking a month's watch for the Sanctuary.
“Just finished getting my shit together.” The archer states dropping his bag by his bike, noticing Carol’s concerned expression which bubbled his own. “What? What aren’t yea saying?”
“Y/N missed a few trading days. Michonne went in her place and wouldn’t really…tell me what’s happening”
I knew it was a mistake to go. I just—-“Is she—-“
“No! No, thankfully. That’s the only thing Michonne would update me on. She doesn’t know why Y/N hasn’t left the basement you two call home. Rick would send food down with Judith so she couldn’t say no to it. I think she’s depressed”
“Could that have been because I left to do this?”
“Hey, there’s no need to blame something or someone. Sometimes people fall into a depressive episode without a reason…” Carol leaned against the loading dock crossing her arms and avoiding his eye contact for a moment. “It could be because we were in survival mode during the war that we couldn’t feel anything else”
Daryl nods to her words taking it in and realizing that explains a lot of the feelings almost everyone affected by the war has been having.
“I…You sure it ain’t cuz—-“
“Daryl, if you’re talking about the moment…the exact moment after the war just ended? You know she understands why you pushed her away but that was months ago. Not everyone is going to feel everything that happened to them because of Negan and the Saviors right when the war is over”
Hell, you’re still going through it
You’re still back there.
Daryl rode his bike throughout the night have escorting Carol back to the Kingdom to make sure she got home safe before going back home to Alexandria. He knew his mind was racing on the endless possibilities of Y/N could be doing while in this episode but all she did was not leave their home beneath the Grimes residence.
The archer was greeted by a few friends as he entered the community, and was informed that Rick and Michonne weren’t in (Jude being watched by Aaron). So he’ll be alone with his partner until the Grimes return.
To his surprise, Y/N was in the main kitchen when he opened the door entering the quiet home. She kept her attention in front of her at the jammed bread she just had prior to Daryl coming home.
“Hey” His voice was softer than normal in case he startled her but she only acknowledge his presence a short moment after he spoke. A bit unphased.
“Hey…did you just get back?”
“Yeah, uhm. The watch is over so…” Daryl brought himself to sit at the kitchen island as Y/N picked up her plate and knife bringing it with her to sit with him. “Carol came by before I drove back. You feeling okay?”
“Uhm…No” Even in the state of mind she was in, she wouldn’t lie to Daryl. Not only would he be one of the few to see right through the lie, but she didn’t have the energy to keep it going if she did. “You hungry? I…made it but I’m not really feeling it anymore”
As the plate was pushed in his direction, Daryl took the knife she had cutting it in half and giving her the other while he ate his.
“Yea made it for yourself. I’ll share it but least have some of it” After he said such, Y/N picked at it at first before deciding to finally eat it.
They sat in silence for a bit and Daryl relaxed when Y/N brought her head to rest on his shoulder but her body tensed. As if she was afraid to do such, like…he’d disappear again. He brought his arm around her shoulders feeling the tension in her shoulder finally relax.
“Let’s turn in, yeah?”
“It’s not too early?”
“Nah, come on” Daryl gave a small smile before getting out of the seat taking her hand into his making their way to the basement.
It wasn’t a basement exactly, just a living quarters underneath the main house.
It was…well exactly how he left it. Looked as if he just moved in and nothing was made for it to look like their home so it brought back the moment.
“Daryl?” Y/N calls out to him as he walked away from the scene of Maggie falling to the earth sobbing while Michonne comforted her even if she sided with her husband.
“Daryl!” She called out following him into the forest watching him stop abruptly making her freeze in her place.
“Do you agree with what he’s done? With Rick’s stupid decision to keep that bastard alive”
“Is this a loaded question for me or a simple…” She quieted herself when Daryl turned toward her with an annoyed expression. He didn’t mean to. “No I don’t agree with what Rick has done”
“Will you hate me for mine?”
“What?”
“I…just need a moment alone. I don’t want you to think that I don’t need you or nothin’. Before this whole fight we were gonna…settle? Be us. Then I got taken. You got attacked. Our home got set ablaze. It’s a lot and…”
“Daryl…just. If I come to you, don’t push me away. I’ll give you what you want but I…”
“If you call, I’ll be there.”
Y/N knew that were true but she got stuck in her own mind from all that happened that she didn’t want to flood what could be going on in Daryl’s. Even if in this very moment, Daryl wanted to know everything going on. Just a word would do.
His partner got into the bed while he got out of the clothes from the day. Y/N already wore sweats as she’s been dressing more comfortably the past month since she hasn’t left the walls. He glances at her through the mirror on their shared dresser seeing her sit comfortable by the pillows but keep a blank gaze.
Once the archer got his boots off, he got comfortable in the bed beside Y/N and before she laid down he opened his arm for her.
“Come here, sunshine” He whispers watching her lay into his side feeling his hand gently rub soothing motions on her back. “I’m not going anywhere” he states pressing a kiss to the top of her head as she shifts to bring herself more into his embrace. “Everything’s okay. You are okay” he whispers to her feeling her tighten her grasp on him.
“Nothings…wrong” Y/N exhales a shaky breath feeling him hold her closer. “I’m fine you know…”
“I do” Daryl replies keeping his hand rubbing circles on her back feeling her head turn into his chest. “You are fine, you are going to be fine”
It happened slowly…the tears that sprung from her eyes as she cried into her partner’s chest feeling him tighten around her in a protective manner pressing a kiss to the top of her head.
“I’m never leaving you again”

Bradshaw's Date
Tumblr media
Summary: Bradley’s younger sister has a date, but will he approve?
Warnings: None besides fluff
Word count: 1.6k
Part 2 here!
A/N: So sorry for being MIA recently. So many of you asked for the flipped version of Seresin’s date, so here we are! Hope you enjoy!
Tumblr media
It was days like today where you wish the apartment hunting was more of a priority. Living with your brother has many, many ups, but now there was one major flaw in your slow move to find your own place.
“Hey Roo. How late do you think you’ll be at work today?” You placed a piece of bread in the toaster and lazily glanced to your brother who was drinking coffee, attention solely on his phone.
“Not too sure. Why?” You kept your back to him as you replied, hoping he wouldn’t see through your response.
“No reason. Had plans tonight and didn’t know if you would be here when I left.” The bread in the toaster popped up, making you jump. You heard the chuckle behind you and turned to roll your eyes.
“It’s like a damn jack in the box for adults.” Bradley heard your mumbling and smiled as he got up to put his cup in the sink.
“I think it’s going to be a regular day. Mav said we were running some drills but nothing serious. I’d say we will be done around dinner. Who are your plans with?”
He didn’t miss the way you tensed at the question but played it off like he was clueless. Bradley could read you like a book which is why he knew your plans were with someone you didn’t want him meeting.
“Ah, just this guy I met. We are grabbing a few drinks and that’s it.” You put butter on you toast a little too violently for it to seem casual.
“You think I’ll like the guy?” You nearly dropped the butter knife at that question. Would your brother like the guy? Absolutely not which is why you are trying to get out of there before he gets home.
“Possibly. But do you think you would like any guy I brought home?” You heard your brother snort in response.
“Fair point.”
Tumblr media
Bradley pulled into his driveway from work, getting home around the time he had originally said. He went to get out of his car but stopped when he saw a truck pull in behind him. Jake had gotten out dressed in jeans and a nice shirt, but he couldn’t wrap his mind around why he was standing in his driveway.
“Are you lost?” Jake gave him the smirk that one day he was going to knock off his face. Nothing got under his skin more than the guy who thinks he’s better at everything than you.
“Honestly I was trying to beat you here but damn, you drive faster than you fly.” Jake leaned against his truck as he waited for the pieces to click.
Bradley glanced up to the house and then back to his teammate. “Absolutely not. Get back in your truck and leave before I make you.”
He expected some push back or a witty remark, but instead Jake ran a hand through his hair looking like he was trying to figure out how to approach things.
“Listen man. I have sisters and I know exactly how this feels. You don’t want any guy within 20 feet of her, especially someone like me. But don’t think I asked her out for this to be a one-time thing. Your sister is special and grateful as hell that she would give me the time of day. She’s not someone you toss aside. She’s someone you work your damn hardest to prove that you’re worth her time and I’m not taking a single second for granted. At least let me take her out tonight and if she hates it or you still aren’t okay with it, I’ll back off. Sisters are something special and I would hate if a guy got between me and mine.”
Bradley didn’t know what to say. Everything in him wanted to throw him out and tell him to never look in your direction again. But damn did his words make sense. Before he had a chance to respond, he heard the front door shut.
“Well, if this doesn’t teach me to get my own place, I don’t know what will.” You walked down the steps of the house to the two men having some sort of standoff in the driveway. Jake offered you a small smile that almost seemed nervous. But your brother met your gaze with a look that told you he was beyond pissed.
“Grind your teeth any harder and your mustache might fall off.” You didn’t miss the cough that came from Jake trying to cover up a laugh, but Bradley wasn’t amused.
“Any guy. You could have gone out with any guy, but this is who you settled for?”
You saw the small flinch Jake made out of the corner of your eye and you knew trying to joke your way out of things wasn’t going to work.
“Listen here, bird boy. I am not settling for anyone, nor would I ever settle. You of all people should know that about me. And you would think me going out with one of your teammates would be better than some random stranger I picked up at a bar. If anything were to happen, you know exactly where to find them.”
Bradley nodded his head at the last statement. “Damn right I do.” You fought the eye roll and settled for a sigh.
“What’s the problem then?” Those words seemed to stop your brother in his path. It was a simple question really, and you were willing to listen to every concern he had. But you were met silence and Bradley opening and closing his mouth like he was some sort of fish.
“Well?” To your surprise, Jake had stayed quite the entire time. You knew the reputation he had, and it was one of the reasons why you were nervous for your brother to find out. But the guy standing in front of you wasn’t trying to force his way into the conversation or talk his way out of a corner. Instead, he was letting you handle things and offered supportive smiles when needed.
“It’s Hangman. I shouldn’t have to have more of a reason than that. You’ve heard what he does to people. He hangs them out to dry and what is stopping him from doing that to you?”
You heard what your brother was saying, but his own worked up opinion of his teammate was clouding his judgement so much that he failed to notice the decent things about Jake.
“Answer me this. If you were getting chased down by a plane I’m not supposed to know exists, who would you want racing to get there in time?” You saw a small smile form on Jake’s face as he waited for his teammates answer, but it never came.
“Next question. You say he only cares about himself, but did you ever think maybe he was trying to make everyone around him better?” You watched the frustration grow on his face as you gave him one final question.
“Would you really think I would date a pilot after everything that’s happened unless I saw something in him? I might have been too young to know dad, but I saw the loneliness mom went through.” The last question was a bit of a low blow, but Bradley needed to understand that you weren’t dating Jake as a game. You knew the risks that came with it but there was something about him that made you want to take those risks.
“I just don’t want you dating at all.” Bradley’s voice came out quieter than it was before, but you knew you had gotten through to him.
“And now we have the real reason.” Your brother gave you a confused look and you smirked at him.
“Just because you aren’t getting laid doesn’t mean you have to take it out on me.” The color drained from his face as he stepped back and shook his head.
“Oh god. You can’t say things like that. Jesus, how does a guy come back from that?” You were laughing at this point and your brother wrapped you in a tight hug.
“I don’t want to see you get hurt. Dad would kill me if he knew I was letting you go out with a pilot.” He pulled back and you smiled at him.
“But mom would be thrilled. She always said the top gun guys were something special.” You stepped out of his embrace and walked over to Jake who pulled flowers out of his truck.
“You ready to get going, sweetheart?” You looked over to your brother for confirmation that this was okay.
Bradley held out his hand to Jake. “You bring her back by 11 or I’m calling Mav.” Jake shook his hand and gave him a single head nod.
“Sure, thing Bradshaw. Your sister is safe with me.”
Bradley stepped back towards the house and watched as Jake held the door open for you. The smile you had on your face was genuine happiness and he couldn’t help but smile as well.
Headlights flashed through the house, signaling that the two of you were gone. Bradley picked up his phone and called Mav. “Hey man. Can you do me a favor? Hangman just picked your Goddaughter up for a date and I was wondering if you can make his life hell for me tomorrow?”

Taking care of sick Jack
Summary: You come home to find a sick jack laying on your couch and you can't help yourself from trying to take care of him.
Tumblr media
_____________________________________
I walked in through the front door expecting to be alone in my apartment, but instead, was met by a wide figure that was sprawled on my couch. I was treading lightly, because he didn't seem to move when I closed the door, meaning he was sound asleep.
I didn't expect to find him here because it had been a while since we'd seen each other last. Technically, we lived together in my apartment but he still stayed at his apartment most days because it was closer to the studio.
Having him in my space was still a bit unfamiliar, due to the short amount of time he has had the keys. Aside from the unfamiliarity, I still felt the fuzzy feeling at the pit of my stomach whenever he was here.
My hands went unconsciously toward his hair as I was towering over him. I could feel the heat radiating off from his body as my palm touched his forehead.
"Jack.." I whispered, trying to wake him up.
He only moaned and turned to his side, not giving me an answer. I started rubbing his back, continuing my attempt to wake him up. At last, he slightly opened one of his eyes to look at me.
“You're burning up” I stated. “How are you babe?” I questioned worriedly.
“I don't know, I don't feel so good.” He said, trying to get up.
I quickly pushed his shoulders down, insisting that he needed to rest. He didn't fight against it as his eyes closed once his head touched one of the pillows that was on the couch. I swiftly went to the main bedroom and brought a comforter to cover him with.
I've never been a great caregiver due to my many failed prior relationships and my mom continuously preaching “the world is female” throughout my upbringing. My mother didn't take my dad leaving us lightly, therefore she had sworn that she would never prioritize a man's needs over her own. That's something she's been trying to drill in my head ever since I was a kid, attempting to teach me about being independent.
Independent, was a word I'd easily use to describe myself. Although, being independent doesn't mean not helping the people you love, which is something my mother would never let into her thick head.
I had this heart wrenching feeling of worry. All I wanted was for Jack to feel better. Therefore I summoned my non-existent talent of cooking and followed a recipe of tomato soup i'd saved on instagram. While the soup was boiling on the stove, I put some garlic bread in the oven.
When everything was ready and I had poured the soup in a bowl I made my way to the living room, setting everything on the table in front of the sofa.
“Babe.. Wake up. I've made you some soup.” I said as my fingers were playing with his curls.
As he was eating away at the food that I'd made, I walked up to find some ibuprofen to bring down his fever and prepare a concoction with tea, ginger and honey that I found on google.
When coming with everything, he had managed to lick the plate clean. He was now leaning back against the sofa and looking up at the ceiling. I interrupted his thoughts when I placed everything on the table. He gave me a gracious smile as he downed the pill and water.
I encouraged him to lie down on the sofa again as I took the remote and put on his favorite show “Succession”. He grabbed the tea and gave me a scrunched look as he took a sip.
“What is this? poison?” he asked with a look of disgust.
“Haha yes, but the good kind.” I winked as he laughed at my remark.
I motioned for him to lift his head so I could sit down on the couch. His head was now in my lap as I kept going through his hair with my fingers, with succession on the TV. All I could think about was that I could do this forever. I couldn't help myself from smiling and looking down at his face. He eventually noticed me staring, which made him look up at me with a tired grin.
“Thank you for taking care of me, there is no other place I'd rather be right now than in your arms. I love you babe.” He said lovingly.
“I love you too.” I answered while my cheeks were hurting due to the grin my face made at his words.

MILF!Reader slowly realizing that her son's BFF/GF, MJ, has been flirting with her for a while now.
A DIRTY FLIRT
Tumblr media
PAIRINGS: MJ x reader
WORD COUNT: 1815
WARNINGS: flirting, age gaps, small angst, sexual themes but no sex, MJ being a huge flirt and tease and hot as SHITTT, milf!R, R is married but it’s not cheating…yall will get it, MJ is 19!!, think that’s it :)
NO ONE IS PERMITTED TO STEAL, COPY, OR REBLOG MY WORK AS THEIR OWN!!
You turned as you heard the door creak open and your son yelling out to you, and only seconds later he was in the kitchen with two friends you assumed were from school.
“Hey, mom! I hope it’s okay I brought some friends over, this is Ned as you already know and this is MJ, she’s new to the school.” Peter spoke, and you waved to the other boy when his name was addressed as you had already met him years earlier. He was a regular at your house as Peter was at his, but the girl was fresh. She had long curls that were slightly messy, and her outfit was more laid back like the other two.
“Hello, Ned, it’s great to see you again. And hello, MJ, it’s lovely to meet you, dear.” You felt her eyes follow up and down your body twice before a small grin fell on her face and she nodded to your greeting.
“We have a science project so we were going to go and, well, do that. I’ll be in my room if you need me.” The three began walking towards the room until you called for your son. He stopped in his tracks and told Ned to bring MJ to his room to get started before turning to your direction again.
“Just…have fun and,” You looked to where the two were, hoping they were out of ear shot before finishing your sentence. “Keep the door cracked.”
“Mom!”
“What! I’m just saying, you’re in college now and I know kids your age like to, you know, experiment-”
“Please stop talking about sex, I promise MJ is just a friend, I don’t see her in any weird way.”
“Just keep it open a little, it’s not like I’m going to be standing there stalking you three.” He agreed before rushing off. That was the first time you had met the girl, but it would definitely not be the last. She was there for the next three days until they finished the assignment, and each day you felt her watching you like a hawk. Whenever you called them for dinner or she had to go to the bathroom, her eyes would be stuck to you as if she was glue.
You hoped it was only curious glances seeing as she refused to speak to you, but that came to be proven wrong two weeks later when she arrived again. The two boys were out and you received a knock at the door. Confused, you checked the windows before opening it and spotting the college student standing there with a bag over her shoulder. Her eyes fell to your body and that’s when you remembered the messy apron covering you that you forgot to take off.
“Oh, hey, MJ! Uh, Peter isn’t home right now, if you want I could leave a message or…” You led off, not sure what to offer as she continued to stare at you.
“I’m not here for him, I think I left my jacket here the other day and I wanted to grab it.”
“Oh, of course, yeah. Uh, come in.” You awkwardly suggested, opening the door further as she stepped in, and this marked the first time you’d ever be alone with her.
“You can look for it, I’ll just be in the kitchen.” She nodded and began slowly walking around, and it seemed as though she was examining each space the building had to offer. You continued to mix the dough in the bowl without turning, your mind so set on perfecting the consistency that you jumped when you heard her voice.
“You’re married?” She asked while holding a portrait of you smiling with a man in a wedding dress, him in a suit. You were pregnant at the time, and your bump was visibly noticeable to her and anyone who saw it.
“Uhm, yes. Yes, I am.”
“But you don’t wear a ring?” You glanced at your empty hand with tight lips, refusing to look her way and pouring the unprepped bread into a greased pan.
“No, I do not. Me and Peter’s father aren’t entirely, uh, together if you could say so.” You didn’t understand why you shared the piece of information with the young girl who you barely knew, who your son barely even knew, but you found yourself being able to share the words easily.
“But he lives here, does he not? And Peter tells me you two are together?”
“Why are you asking my son if I’m married?” You avoided the question with one, hoping to remove the pressure from your end.
“That doesn’t matter right now, I asked you first.”
“It does matter.”
“It’ll matter once you answer me.” You sighed, giving up as you set the timer on the stove and began walking towards the sink to clean your doughy hands.
“I got pregnant by a one night stand, he was that one night stand. We tried to make it work knowing we had a son on the way and even when Peter was born we were still trying, but we could never find ourselves being in love with one another. We still love each other, we’re just not in love. So instead of having a divorce, we thought it would be easier to stay together and see other people. He has a girlfriend who is okay with the situation, he often stays there or she’ll stay here, we’re actually pretty close. That way I can stay at home to care for the house and for Peter, Peter won’t need to be too affected by a divorce, and his dad can focus on his career.” MJ nodded in understanding with a hum, and unbeknownst to you, instinctively moved closer while you were still in front of the sink. You had not realized how long you had been washing your hands, being too focused on telling the story she asked for. It was only when you remembered the question you had asked her that you dried your hands and turned, only to have the girl standing only inches from you now.
“Uhm, and why- why were you asking Peter if I was married?” She smirked lowly at the thought, her free hand coming to the counter behind you while the other brushed against your hand. Her bag was gone now, and her jacket was still nowhere to be seen.
“Well, I’m interested in you. I’ve always liked, how do I put it,” She stared at your lips as your breath became uneven. You gulped, following her actions and licking your lips as you glanced upon hers.
“Older women?”
“Yeah, I guess you could say that. Or you could say I’ve always liked more beautiful, mature women who know what the fuck they’re doing.” A small hint of red came to your cheeks and you cracked a small smile, causing the younger woman to chuckle softly.
“What about you? Have you ever thought about being with a girl?” Her thumb came to tease your lower lip, dragging it down slowly before she grasped your chin in her hold, not allowing you to look down in fear.
“I- I don’t…I don’t know.”
“That’s okay, I’d love to be your first. Do you want that? Do you want me, baby?” You nodded without a thought, fluttering your eyes shut as she leaned in to brush herself against you. You waited for the kiss you were anticipating, but it didn’t come. She was teasing you.
“MJ, please kiss me already.”
“Mm, I like the sound of that.” Before she could complete your request, you both heard the door open and close and jumped from one another. Your husband entered the kitchen with Peter and Ned trailing behind him, the two too engrossed in their conversation to notice the obvious elephant in the room. Your husband wasn’t however, and he hid a chuckle as he placed his suitcase on the counter.
“Hello, MJ, it’s good to see you again.”
“Hey, Mr. Parker.” He rolled his sleeves up and entered the fridge, grabbing the closest beer and taking a swig while Peter looked up at the noise.
“MJ, what are you doing here?” She shot you a glance before clearing her throat quickly, crossing her arms over her chest as she met his gaze as if nothing had ever happened.
“I left my jacket, I was just looking for it.”
“Oh, did you need any help?”
“No, I found it. We’re all good, thanks though.” He didn’t question her lack of holding the said clothing, and you sighed in relief before leading the attention away from her.
“Dinner will be done soon if you boys want to head upstairs and I’ll call you down soon.” MJ was ready to leave before Peter interrupted, a hopeful grin on his face as he held the new Lego set he just purchased.
“Do you want to stay for dinner? Me and Ned were going to work on this together, but with your help it could go by a lot quicker.” You secretly wished she’d say yes seeing as the interaction you two just held was not one to be left in the dirt.
“You two are such nerds, but fine.” The three went upstairs, MJ sharing one last glance with you before turning the corner and leaving you with your husband who had a large, teasing smirk on his face.
“Really? Peter’s friend?”
“How did you know her already?”
“He introduced me to her a few weeks ago when he stopped by Claire’s to grab his binder and I was there, I just never thought she’d try to fuck my wife.” He shrugged, laughing when you groaned in annoyance and rubbed your forehead.
“I don’t know how it happened, it just did.”
“Hey, I’m not judging, I just think you need to be careful.” You bit your lip in thought at his words.
“You don’t think Peter will be mad if he finds out? And the age gap-”
“Hey, stop that. This was your exact problem when we were dating, you worry and think too much, just let it go with the flow and be mindful of him too. If he finds out and doesn’t like it, that’s when things need to end. But if you’re happy and so is she, who cares what people think.” You knew he was right, but you also knew you had always been much too scared to date while having a son. MJ was his age, how would she handle that? And what if he was mad, upset, or worse, hated you for it? You didn’t know, but you also knew you spent that whole night wishing to relive the moment when her lips brushed against yours and imagining the feeling of them touching. You knew it would be so relieving, so why couldn’t you let yourself give in?

"Maybe I'm Better Off Dead" Part 2 Velaryon!Reader x Aemond Targaryen
Tumblr media
Summary: Visenya is married to Aemond, who tries to keep her safe, but she is still a prisoner in a war just beginning.
Part 1
When I woke up, the sun was shining in brightly from the windows, which were now covered with bars. The bars were only a few inches apart, so there was no chance of slipping through the gaps.
"Are you hungry?" I turned to see Aemond sitting on the sofa where he slept last night.
"No." I replied, shifting in the bed slightly so I was sitting.
"It's not poisoned." He said, taking a bite of the bread on the tray in front of him. When I didn't respond, he took a bite of the porridge as well.
"Not all poison is immediate. You could just be waiting for an antidote while I suffer a slow death." I challenged.
He sighed, "very well. My mother brought some dresses for you if you wish to change while we wait."
"So you can take the antidote while I'm changing behind the screen?"
"You're quite impossible." He remarked. "Though, I never said you had to go behind the screen." He added with a smirk.
"It's not as if you need to ask anything of me."
His face hardened immediately, "I told you, I will never touch you without your permission."
"Aegon will not allow that. He will expect you to take my maidenhood."
"I already have a plan for that." He replied. I raised an eyebrow at him after he didn't elaborate. "Has your mother explained to you what happens?"
My cheeks flamed and all I could do was shake my head softly.
We were both spared the embarrassment of further conversation by the announcement of his mother at the door.
"You may enter." He said and moments later the doors opened to reveal the Queen Mother in a long velvet green dress.
"Aemond, your brother would like to discuss some things with you before the ceremony." He bowed to his mother before flashing a quick glance at me and leaving myself alone with Alicent. "Shall I help you dress for your wedding?" Her tone was not one of questioning, so I simply stood and followed her over to the pile of green dresses. "You needn't be afraid. Aemond has always been my gentle and kind boy." She said while selecting the most ornate of the dresses. One embroidered with countless tiny flowers and golden beads.
"He murdered my brother." I replied once again.
"The same brother who maimed him?" She challenged.
"We were children. Luke never meant to-" I paused realizing I had said exactly what she wanted.
"Just as Aemond never meant to kill Lucerys." She continued to speak as she helped me into the heavy dress. "Your grandsire was always terrified that his own family would go to war against each other. I think he was right and I'm sure your mother prepared you for that. You have the opportunity to prevent that by marrying Aemond and keeping peace. I know you don't want to and I know you're scared, just as I was, but I promise, no harm will come to you. You can still live a happy life with children you adore."
"You used to be my mother's closest friend." I said through teary eyes as she lead me over to a seat and began running a brush through the tangles in my hair.
"I did and I wish we would not have grown so far apart. Women follow the lead of men. I chose to follow Viserys and do my duty to my country. Your mother chose to follow her desires with your father rather than her husband."
"My mother chose to be happy, to find love and to allow Leanor to do the same. I understand that it was wrong, but it never had to become this. You could've chosen to be happy too." I caught her eye in the small mirror.
"You are a clever girl, but you are still young. You cannot break tradition that has lasted thousands of years. Thousands of men, women, and children will die in this war because your mother decided that her heart was more important than their lives. You can chose to follow the same fate or you can chose to find happiness in the life you have been given." She carefully pushed the last pin just a little too far and I felt it scrap my scalp. A threat that did not go unnoticed. She always hated me and that would not change as I married her son.
My stomach twisted into knots and my heart felt like it would explode out of my chest, but I forced my emotions down and held my head high. I would not cry in a room full of my enemies. The Usurper held my hand on his arm as he led me toward the man who murdered my brother. The blood pounded in my ears as we were married. I couldn't hear anything the Septon was saying. I wanted to scream and run, but I knew I would never be allowed to leave. I considered killing Aegon and ending this war, but I knew Ser Criston Cole, the man my mother had given a job to, would cut me down before I came within inches of victory. Aemond studied my face carefully as our hands were bound together. His eyes seemed to hold concern and pity. As much as I wanted to close myself off to him, I knew Alicent was right, if I did my duty, then perhaps the rest of my family could survive this. I couldn't let anyone else die. Aemond was gentle as he placed a hand on my cheek and slowly leaned forward to kiss me. My first. It seemed to last an eternity as he held our lips together before pulling away and taking my hand in his as we walked through the crowd of people out the front doors.
Once the doors shut behind us, he leaned down and whispered in my ear, "I'm sorry." I looked up at him in confusion, he was my husband now, he could do as he pleased, why would he apologize for kissing me?
"Let us go feast and celebrate the end to this fighting!" Aegon announced as he marched through the doors. He seemed to be the only one under the impression this would end the fighting, but as the King, no one challenged him.
Aemond stayed by my side for the rest of the evening, though apart from dancing, he never touched me. I started to become slightly comforted by his presence as many men who would be generals in the war to come approached me with thinly veiled threats of what was to become of my family. I was comforted until Aegon proudly proclaimed that it was time the bedding ceremony.
"My King, as we discussed, I would like the privilege of bedding my wife in privacy, if it pleases you." Aemond replied.
"Ah, yes, of course. My brother wishes to conquer alone. Very well." He waved us off and as we walked closer to his, or I supposed as it was now, our chambers I began to feel more and more afraid. The moment I stepped inside the room and the doors closed, I completely froze and the tears I tried so hard to force back came tumbling down my cheeks.
I could see Aemond out of the corner of my eye begin to strip off his clothes and tossed them next to the bed. I turned away before he took off everything.
"Once you change into your night clothes you hand me your dress." I didn't respond, but simply took off my dress and handed it to him, sneaking a quick glance only to find that he was also wearing his night clothes. He took the dress and tugged hard, tearing the fabric around the neck of the dress and tossed it on top of his clothes. I still hadn't moved from the spot I was glued to. "Visenya." I snapped my head up to meet his gaze. "I truly meant it. I'm sorry for today and I will not tonight, nor ever, force you to lay with me."
He walked over to the couch without another word and laid down. I was unable to completely relax, but I made my way over to the bed and settled into the sheets. Perhaps, he was right, maybe I wouldn't be harmed here.
I woke up to someone gently shaking my shoulder and immediately shot up, slamming into someone. He grunted softly, but still was the one to apologize. "Sorry, I didn't mean to frighten you."
"It's okay."
"Aegon will be here soon, so you get dressed, while I take care of this." I noticed he was bleeding from a small cut on his torso. He noted my confusion. "When a maiden lays with a man for the first time, she bleeds. Aegon will expect to see that we consummated our marriage."
"Oh."
"It's alright. Toss your night dress over when you change, I'll need that too." He was quiet and also clearly uncomfortable. I nodded and climbed out of bed to go put on one of the green dresses from Alicent, tossing my night dress over as he asked.
I came out and saw that he was now dressed as well, but our clothes from last night and this morning were in a messy pile next to the bed. The sheets were all tangled together and I saw the blood on them.
"Thank you." I said softly, chancing a glance at him. He looked as though he was going to say something else before the doors burst open and the King entered.
"I trust you enjoyed your evening, brother." He said, coming in and walking toward the bed. His lips spread into a wide grin as he took in the scene before him. It turned to a smirk as his eyes found me. "and you, Princess. Did you enjoy yourself?" I wanted to remain brave, but something in his eyes caused me to shrink back, almost instantly bumping into Aemond, though I didn't remember seeing him move toward me.
"Can I help you with anything else, my King?" He said from behind me.
"Yes, I would like for you to fly to Storms End and inform Lord Baratheon that I require the presence of him and his men here to begin preparing for battle. Lord Hightower expects the bitch to attempt to rescue her little girl." He directed the last part at me.
"I did not expect to leave my wife so soon."
"When you return you will have plenty of time to make little lords and ladies. It will be a quick trip." His request was given as a King and therefore not one to be refused, so Aemond left. "I shall have your meals brought here until your husband returns tomorrow." Aegon added to me before he left the room.
It was a relief to finally be left alone and not feel constantly on guard, though as much as I was unsure at the beginning I was starting to feel even a little safe with Aemond. Perhaps he truly didn't mean to kill Luke and maybe he did regret it. I spent the day reading books that were left in the room, though I was not truly absorbing the words I consumed, it helped to pass the time until the evening.
The sheets were changed when the servants brought dinner, so they were clean as I settled into bed. I missed my family, but I now had some hope that I would see them one day.
Once again I awoke to the touch of someone and for a moment I thought it was Aemond until I remembered he was gone. I tried to sit up, but quickly realized I was pinned down. I screamed when I realized it was Aegon.
"Perhaps we will make some bastards of our own." He sneered as he roughly kissed down my neck and forced my dress up. I kept screaming and violently thrashed, trying everything in my power to get free, but it was no use. He was the King and as such, no one would be coming to my aid. The more I fought back, the harder he hit me until eventually I couldn't fight back anymore, all I could do was cry.
The next day no one came to bring me food or change the sheets. There was no bath and no new clothes. I didn't move, because everything hurt and I realized how stupid I had been to think I was ever safe here. Sleep came in short periods if terrible nightmares and the waking world was no different. I was terrified he would return, so when the doors opened again, I scrambled off the bed and shoved myself into the corner, ignoring the ripples of pain throughout my body.
I heard him inhale sharply before calling out my name, but I didn't move or make a single sound until he came around the side of the bed and saw me.
"Stay away from me." I croaked my throat raw.
"Who did this to you?" He growled.
"You know. That's why you left, so he could have his turn. You lied to me and tricked me so I would think I was safe, so I would trust you."
"I didn't I swear." He stopped "Did Aegon do this to you?"
I didn't bother to respond.
"I'm going to help you escape. Stay here. If you want to change clothes, you can. I'm going to figure out how to free your dragon and then tonight I'm getting you out of here." His voice held an uncharacteristic edge, but I wasn't naive enough to believe him again.
The only thing I did was take one of the new dresses and change out of the clothes I was wearing before sitting on the sofa. This time, I didn't get a book, I simply stared at the window, watching as night fell. When Aemond returned he didn't let the doors close behind him, but instead waited in the doorway and asked if I wanted to go for a stroll. The guards on either side of the doors reminded me that I did not have a choice, so I stood and made my way over to him. We walked in silence for a while before we rounded a corned and he pulled me into a secret passage.
"I know you have no reason to believe me anymore, but I had no idea. I am so sorry for what my family has done to you, for what I have done to you." He pulled a cloak over himself and handed one to me. "Some of the dragon pit handlers are loyal to your mother and when I told them what Aegon had done, they agreed to help you escape. It's this way." He held up a lamp and I followed behind him as we made our way through the passage before finally coming up just outside of the Dragonpit where my beautiful dragon was already waiting. "Go quickly." He said while looking around for other people.
"He's going to kill you when he finds out what you did." I said, causing him to turn to me.
"I know, but I'm going to do my best to stop this war from happening."
"Thank you, Aemond." I truly meant it. For the things he had done, I should hate him, but I could see that he hated himself just as much as I did. He was trying to be different and risking his own life to save mine.
"I am truly sorry." I wanted to hug him, but I was also still so scared, so I just gave him a smile before mounting my dragon and taking off. Aemond had given me enough of a head start that I knew I could make it home, but I still kept going as fast as we could until I landed in the courtyard at Dragonstone.
I must've looked as bad as I felt because the guards rushed me inside and several took off to wake my mother and Uncle, though it was Jace who found me first. As soon as I saw him, I collapsed into sobs. He held me gently as I cried.
"Visenya!" My mothers voice broke halfway through my name and I turned to see her sprinting towards me with my Uncle just behind her.
"I left him. I'm so sorry. I-" My words were incoherent, but she shushed me and pulled me into her arms.
"Oh my sweet girl, it isn't your fault. You're home now. You're safe." I was so exhausted after hugging each member of my family and after some time, my mother sent them off until only Daemon, Jace, Rhaenys, and Corlys remained.
"I know you're tired and hungry, but we have to ask you what happened. Can you tell us?" Daemon asked as I sat next to my mother who hadn't let go of me the entire time.
I nodded and told them everything starting from Luke's death at Storms End, all the way through Aemond helping me escape.
My mother wrapped an arm around my shoulders as I told her what Aegon had done. Jace's face hardened with anger, but Daemon only made on small movement as his hand reached for the hilt of Dark Sister.
"We will speak soon of what we will do, for now, you get some rest." Daemon said, only the slightest edge to his voice.
Corlys and Rhaenys left first. Daemon hugged me and then Jace, each one reminding me how happy they were to have me home. Then, my mother and I left, making our way to my room where a feast was already waiting. She helped me bathe and dress in my own clothes. As I ate, she brushed my hair, softly running a hand over it each time.
"I think Aemond truly was sorry. While I was there he protected me. Thats why Aegon sent him away, I think he knew, Aemond never would've let him hurt me." I said to her.
She sighed, "Aemond is a clever man."
"Alicent said the same of me." She paused for the slightest moment before continuing to brush my hair.
"Do you care for Aemond?" She asked, catching me off guard.
"No, of course not, I just-" I stopped. It was far too complicated to describe how I felt for Aemond. He killed my brother and took me hostage, but maybe a part of me did care for him.
"It isn't anything you need to decide for tonight. For now, you sleep for as long as you wish. You are safe at home." She tucked me into the bed and kissed the top of my head before walking toward the door.
"Wait!" I stopped, feeling too silly to speak my thoughts aloud. I was brave and strong. "Never mind."
My mother smiled knowingly and came back to the bed to lay next to me. She ran her fingers through my hair and softly sang songs of Old Valeryia until I fell asleep.
A/N: Thank you all so much for the support on Part 1. I had no idea so many people would enjoy it! I can continue it if people want that or this could be a good place to end it as well.

Rossi x reader - a few more minutes
Tumblr media
Could you do fic for David Rossi with wife reader? She surprises him by visiting him at the office. With David going away on a case , it felt like there was not enough time for them. Just something fluff and romantic. Add something else if you want to. Tag me later!! Thanks!! :)) - @pear-1206 💜
Stepping out of the elevator, you made your way through the bullpen, past all the desks and up the stairs to the office you were looking for.
It wasn’t often you came by his work, but sometimes when he had been especially busy you wanted to come make the day a little easier.
You knocked on the door before gently pushing it open, a wide smile spreading across your lips as you saw him look up.
“Hey tesoro, why are you here?”
Rossi got up, meeting you halfway across the room to hug you, pressing a kiss to your cheek.
Smiling, you rested your head on his chest.
“Well, you’ve been so busy I wanted to make sure you were eating so, I brought food.”
You pulled away, holding out the bag for him to take and look inside.
“Oh darling, you are wonderful!”
Rossi beamed brightly, taking your face gently between his hands as he leant down to kiss you.
Smiling into the kiss, you placed your hands on his, leaning into him a little bit just before he managed to pulled away.
“You made me muffins?” He asked.
“Oh and bread! I was bored, and I wanted to try something new, and I thought maybe Penelope would like the fact it’s purple.”
“You made purple bread?” Rossi chuckled.
He turned his attention to the bag, taking out the muffins you made and set them on the table.
Then he took out some bread and it was in fact a pastel purple.
“It’s lavender bread! It doesn’t actually taste like lavender don’t worry, but it does slightly smell like it, it’s fully safe to eat.” He beamed.
He chuckled a little bit, smiling softly at you.
“You really are something else my dear.”
Rossi pulled his chair out, letting you sit down on it, and he sat in the desk, handing you a muffin.
You split it in half with him, handing him one half while you kept the other half to yourself.
“Is this how you’ve been keeping busy?”
You hummed a little bit, nodding your head.
“Yeah, the bakery is still under repairs.”
“Do you have a quote for the costs?”
“Yeah, kind of expensive but insurance will cover most of it, I can get a loan for the rest.”
“Absolutely not.”
You looked at your husband a little bit confused.
Rossi reached through his pockets, looking for his wallet and he finally found it, holding it out to you.
“You use this, and you cover whatever costs you need to for your bakery, do you understand? I don’t want to hear anything about you taking out a loan. What’s mine is yours, we agreed on this.”
You took his wallet, setting it down on his desk.
“Sweetheart I can’t do that.”
“You can and you will, I’ll have you know that no wife of mine will be taking out a loan with a bank when I have money I don’t even spend.”
Rossi held his hand out to you, and you placed your hand carefully in his, letting him bring it up so he could kiss your knuckles.
“I will cover everything so whatever you need you tell me.”
“Do I get a say in this?”
Rossi gave a short hum.
“I’m afraid not, this isn’t an option.”
You laughed a little bit and stood up, placing your forehead on his.
“I love you…”
“I love you too.”
There was a knock on the door and you pulled away, both of you turning to see who it was and you watched as JJ poked her head around the corner.
“(Y/N), hey!”
JJ walked over, hugging you before pulling away.
“I’m sorry Rossi but we’ve got a case.”
He nodded his head, walking over and he placed a hand on your shoulder, walking around you.
He brushed his knuckles against your cheek.
“I’m sorry (Y/N)…”
“Hey, it’s alright. I understand, go, I’ll take this to Penelope after.”
He smiled, leaning forward to meet you for a quick kiss.
“I’ll still be around before you leave.”
“I’ll find you.”
He gave you a quick kiss, kissing your forehead, and he pulled away, kissing the side of your head.
“I love you.”
“I love you too Dave now go before you’re late.”
He chuckled and nodded, leaving his office and you sat down on his chair again while you waited for him to come back even if it was for a few moments

Tooka Dad
Crosshair x Veterinarian OC Rayla
Word Count: 6.331k
Warnings: None really – Fluff, new relationship, cuddling, bed sharing. Brief descriptions of a stray animal in need of medical attention, TLC, and spaying. Brief mentions of Crosshair’s medical trauma / tomophobia.
A/N: This came to my brain and now it’s words. I don’t know what else to say about it. No description of Rayla’s appearance outside of her being fem and using she/her pronouns.  Thank you to @staycalmandhugaclone @eclec-tech and @lightwise for the encouragement.
Tumblr media
It had been months since Crosshair had rejoined his siblings and they found themselves on Pabu. The adjustment had been difficult. It was still difficult. There were many things he wouldn’t speak about. His brothers gave him some space, not pushing too much, but making sure he knew he wasn’t alone. He, Omega, and Tech had spent time together healing physically after Mt. Tantiss, as well as healing whatever mental wounds they could. Those were taking the most time, especially for Crosshair.
He didn’t want to leave the house today, but Wrecker insisted (in his own Wrecker way) that he come to the docks and help move some cargo. Crosshair rolled his eyes but got to his feet and followed his brother down to the ocean. They spent the morning moving crates from boats on to the docks, but as the sun continued to beam down on them, Crosshair’s eyes started to ache from the light.
“I got it from here,” Wrecker said, knowing his brother’s sensitivity.  Crosshair simply nodded his thanks and headed toward some shade. Before he could sit down, he saw something small scamper away from behind one of the crates Wrecker picked up. He followed the movements and kneeled down, looking under a bench that sat under a tree.
“What is it,” Wrecker asked.
A tiny gray tooka kitten peered at them through crusty eyes. Crosshair wasn’t entirely sure how the little creature could see.
“Tooka,” Crosshair answered. Wrecker knelt down further and smiled at the scared kitten.
“A baby tooka? Aww, Crosshair we gotta take it home.”  Wrecker smiled and tried to make space so he could grab the little ball of fur, but the kitten would have none of it and scurried to hide behind the other side of the bench.
“Just wait,” the Crosshair advised. His brother sighed but nodded and got back to work. Instead of sitting on the bench, Crosshair sat on the ground next to it.  The next two hours were spent waiting for the animal to come out. He wasn’t going to force anything. Wrecker checked in after he was done with the crates.  Although the tooka hadn’t moved, he knew that if anyone had the patience to wait it out and earn its trust, it was Crosshair.  Wrecker went home, grabbed some lunch, and brought it back. He silently held out some homemade bread and fruit to his brother, sitting next to him as they silently ate. The tooka let out a little squeak and Wrecker saw just the smallest tug of a smile on his Crosshair’s face. Eventually Wrecker decided to head home and help Tech with moving some big equipment.
As the time passed, Crosshair thought of his time away from his siblings. How much doubt and fear were in his heart despite deciding to stay on the platform on Kamino. Of the ongoing pain he had each time his chip was enhanced. The absolute horror in his soul when his actions felt like they were someone else’s, but he knew his hands pulled the trigger. He had never wanted to lose control and yet the Empire had him in its grasp and his mind wasn’t fully his own. He’d been so conditioned and the chip only added another layer of complexity. He closed his eyes and sighed as he pressed his hands flat on the ground beneath him in an attempt to center himself in the here and now. He wasn’t alone anymore. Just as he had this thought, he felt some tiny fluff brush against his hand.  He opened his eyes to find the kitten sitting next to his fingertips.  He gently picked up the creature and stood. The tooka didn’t make a sound and didn’t fight as Crosshair walked back them back to Upper Pabu. He was fairly certain the lack of fight was only because the animal was fur and bones.
“Tech,” was all he said upon finding his brother working on the Marauder. Tech stood, adjusting his goggles, and raised his eyebrows.
“A tooka,” he replied, “and in a sorry state.”
Crosshair hummed in agreement. Tech knew this was his brother’s way of asking for help. He pulled out his datapad and examined the kitten in Crosshair’s hands.
“There appears to be an eye infection, parasites, and a serious lack of nutrition,” noted Tech. “I could possibly find some food for her, but I cannot immediately find appropriate medication for her ailments. Why don’t you take her to the veterinarian?”
Crosshair sighed. At least he now knew the tooka was a she and some of what was going on with her, but he wasn’t quite sure about a veterinarian. He didn’t want this little girl to be scared any more than she already was and he understood how anything medical might cause her more fear.  Then again, she looked miserable and he couldn’t let her stay that way.
“Alright,” he agreed. He didn’t even realize the island had a veterinarian.  Tech gave him the location and he headed back down the path.
It had been a long day for Rayla. One of Pabu’s residents had decided to buy a pair of orbaks to help cart goods around and she hadn’t treated anything with hooves since veterinary school. One of them was particularly stubborn, but she liked a good challenge. It was never about forcing something on an animal. It was about reading body language and helping them feel safe enough to get through any needed procedures.
She looked up as a tall man came through the door. She smiled to herself. Rayla had spent time with his brothers since they settled on Pabu and Omega was fascinated with her career choice.  They talked about him briefly, but she hadn’t met him yet.
“Hello,” she said with a soft smile. “Crosshair, right? I’m Rayla. How can I help you?”
Crosshair looked at the woman in front of him and then down at the tiny tooka. “Found her,” he said.  He didn’t seem surprised she knew his name. There were some people on the island who guessed who he was based on association.
“How about you come back to the exam room and we’ll take a look,” Rayla offered. He simply nodded and followed.  Crosshair looked around the room, almost more afraid than the tooka. There were various instruments, and he was sure there were even more in the cabinet. The veterinarian washed her hands and put on some gloves.
“How about we start with a weight,” she suggested, nodding to the scale. Crosshair put the kitten down, almost afraid to let go. She weighed much less than she should. Rayla noted her weight and then suggested a particular food for her. He nodded and moved her off the scale. He couldn’t quite keep his hands off her, trying to keep the contact while the exam was completed for fear of losing her or seeing her scared.
“She’s got an eye infection. I can give you drops for those and show you how to put them in.” He nodded.  He noticed Rayla stopped and gave the kitten a little break and spoke kindly to her before looking through her fur.
“She has fleas too.”
His eyes got wide, but he still didn’t pull away from her.
“Don’t worry,” she said. “Fleas are species specific. Her fleas won’t harm anyone but other tookas. We can give her a flea bath now if you’d like.” Crosshair nodded and let out a little relieved breath.
He held on to her while Rayla filled a small tub with warm water. Crosshair tentatively put the small creature in the tub. While the veterinarian worked the shampoo in and rinsed, he held the kitten and helped keep her head up.  The little tooka clung to his thumb with her front legs and Rayla couldn’t help but smile.
“She’s really taken with you,” she said.
“Mm,” was all he let out, but his eyes went soft.
“Are you planning on keeping her or would you like me to find her a hom-“
“No,” he firmly blurted out before quieting his tone again. “I’ll keep her.”
“Sounds good,” she replied, getting a towel.
Crosshair took it upon himself to wrap her up.  Rayla showed him how to put drops in her eyes.
“In about a week you could give her a dewormer pill.”
He nodded and followed her out of the room.  She gathered the dewormer pill, some food for the kitten - explaining that for the time being she needed food that would be easy on her digestive system - and a lightweight slip lead. Rayla put everything in a bag and handed it to him.  Getting out a data pad for her records, she asked if the newly adopted animal had a name yet.
“Vaar’ika,” he said.
“What does it mean,” she asked curiously.
“Pip-squeak.”  Just as he said that, Vaar’ika let out tiny peep that made Rayla smile. She entered the relevant information.
“Well then,” she replied, “congratulations Vaar’ika. And congratulations Tooka Dad.”
Crosshair felt warmth flood his cheeks and ears, but it wasn’t unwelcome. He nodded at all Rayla’s directions about the dewormer and a follow up appointment.
As he left, Rayla couldn’t help but think that she quite liked him. He may have said very few words, but he was so expressive.  He was easy for her to read and she knew she could trust a man who adopted an ailing kitten without question.
Crosshair took Vaar’ika home. Wrecker had already told Echo, Hunter, and Omega about her and Omega waited at the window to meet this new addition to the family.  Crosshair came through the door and held the little one close to his chest. She was exhausted and he could feel her little body shake from the stress of the day.
“I want to help,” Omega declared.
Crosshair didn’t say anything as he walked toward his bedroom. He simply nodded in the general direction of the hallway and Omega’s smile grew as she knew it meant she could follow him.  Crosshair put the tiny bundle on his bed and started looking for something to make a tooka bed.
“What’s wrong with her eyes,” Omega asked.
“Infection,” Crosshair answered. “Needs to be given eye drops for a few days at least.”
“I can help,” Omega answered.
“Omega,” Crosshair warned. He knew she was excited, but he wanted to approach the kitten’s treatment in a methodical way.  He looked at his sister for several moments and then nodded. “Fine, but she won’t need more drops until tomorrow.”
Crosshair shuffled through his belongings in his closet and found an old pair of blacks. He used a spare pillow to make something of a little bed with the blacks as a bedding.  He placed the new bed on the floor near his own.  Omega watched as the little tooka crawled on the bed closer to her brother.  He put her on the new bed and quietly told her he’d be back soon.  Omega followed him down the hall and grinned at her other brothers who were all at least a bit curious about their new roommate.  While Crosshair grabbed a small plate and spoon and headed back to his room, Omega helped Echo and Hunter with dinner.
Vaar’ika was hiding under his bed, but Crosshair sat down, opened a can of food, and spooned out a little on the plate.  He placed it on the floor and she came out to eat.  He smiled while watching her eat. She had an appetite and he knew that was important in her healing. He retrieved a little bowl of water for her and gave her a bit more food.  After she finished eating and drinking, she jumped up on the window and pawed at it.  Crosshair pursed his lips and then decided to take her outside. He looped the leash around her and picked her up.  His hunch was right. Almost immediately, she found a spot to relieve herself.  Maybe he had lucked out when it came to house training.
When finished, she tried climbing his leg and he picked her up. Her eyes were less messy than they were before, and he could make out the way she looked at him. He felt a little glow in his heart at the thought that this creature had chosen him and wanted to be with him.  He took her back inside, took off the leash, and placed her back on the makeshift bed. During dinner with his siblings some questions were asked, but no one asked if he would be keeping her. Based on what they saw, they knew she would stay and it would be a good change.
Once dinner was over, Crosshair made his way back to his room to give Vaar’ika another small meal. She ate it quickly and climbed on the window again. He took her out and this time she wandered around a little bit, exploring her new home.  He took her back in, holding her in the crook of his arm and heading to bed. He placed her on her own bed, but once he climbed into his own, he could see her moving in the darkness. She made her way up the side of his bed post and purred as she snuggled against his chest.  Crosshair smiled to himself and fluffed her hair before they drifted off to sleep together.
Crosshair spent the next few days helping her find her feet. They established morning and evening walk routes.  He purchased a little pink collar for her, making sure it included her name and his.  It wasn’t long before he was comfortable taking her around off-leash. She never wandered too far and for the most part, seemed to like watching this world from her perch on his shoulders.  He let Omega hold Vaar’ika when it was time to put her eyedrops in, but he never let Omega put the drops in. Finally Omega managed to wear him down and convinced him to let her try.  Crosshair held the kitten, holding her back to his chest and supporting her back end with one hand. Omega approached the tooka’s eyes with the dropper bottle, aiming for the middle of her left eye.
“Omega, no!” It came out a little louder than he meant. He leaned back to pull his little bundle away. He gave his sister a warning look.  She looked confused and a little hurt. He took a deep breath and found calm again. Until he had visited Rayla, he wouldn’t have known what to do either. It wasn’t fair to expect Omega to know without help.
“Aim for the corner of her eyes. It’s easier that way.” He offered her a smile and Omega tried again, this time leaving a couple little drops in each corner of Vaar’ika’s eyes.
“Perfect,” he said to his sister.  “Thank you.”
“Happy to help,” Omega replied.
He was supposed to give the tooka her dewormer pill, but wasn’t sure he could do it and certainly didn’t expect Omega to. He remembered Rayla’s instructions as he sat Vaar’ika on his bed and held the tiny pill between his thumb and finger.
“Simply open her mouth, pop the pill in, and hold her mouth closed until she swallows,” Rayla had said. He hadn’t thought much about it since at the time, he knew it was a future problem and he was only focused on eye drops and establishing some routines.  Now that it came to it, he looked at his little friend and couldn’t just open her mouth.  And what, he thought. Force her to swallow a pill?  It reminded him too much of the procedures he and his brothers had been forced through. He remembered thinking a warning before a necessary injection or asking him if he was ready would have helped him a great deal as a young cadet, yet he had never really been afforded that dignity.
He sighed to himself, picked up Vaar’ika and the pill, and marched to the vet clinic.  Rayla was just finishing with a client and about to go to lunch when he walked in.
“Crosshair!” She beamed at him, happy to see him with the tooka. “And Vaar’ika. How are you?”
“I can’t give her the pill,” he said directly.
“Did she not want it,” Rayla asked. Many animals had trouble taking medication and it wasn’t an uncommon concern.  “Did she spit it up?”
“No,” Crosshair said, revealing he still had the pill in its original form. “I can’t make her take it.”
Rayla sensed a great amount of empathy in him. He seemed scared to hurt this kitten, this small creature he’d already becoming so very attached to.
“She might take it if you mix it in her food. Is she still eating?”
Crosshair nodded.
“Okay,” Rayla acknowledged. “Cut the pill in quarters and put it in her dinner tonight. If she doesn’t eat it all, stop by tomorrow and we’ll see about another way.”
Crosshair nodded again.
“May I,” Rayla asked, hands out to touch the tooka.  Crosshair nodded a third time and Rayla petted the little pile of fluff.  She purred at the vet.
“I’m glad to see her eyes have cleared up,” she said. “She probably doesn’t need the drops anymore after tomorrow. Just keep the rest of the bottle should she need them in the future. She already looks so much better. She’ll need a few vaccines as soon as you feel she’s strong enough and she’ll be old enough to spay in a couple months. Unless you want more kittens.”
Crosshair froze a bit. He’d assumed that was further down the road, but not this soon.  He didn’t want her to get pregnant. He wanted to do the responsible thing for her and was sure Hunter would have a few words with him if there were kittens. Besides, he didn’t want to worry about her going through pregnancy and labor.
“Let’s schedule that now,” he said.
Rayla nodded and pulled up her schedule. He’d be back in a week for the vaccines. They decided on a day for the spaying and she gave him instructions for what to do the night before and day of as far as food and water.
“See you both in a week for vaccines,” she said as they left.
Crosshair held Vaar’ika a little closer to his chest, hugging her before letting her perch on his shoulders. He didn’t like the thought of putting her through surgery or even the vaccinations. He knew they were necessary, but he didn’t want her in pain ever. Still, he knew it was for the best. To help him relax, he took the long way home, chuckling as Vaar’ika hissed at a few moon-yos who tried reaching for her.  His thoughts also went to this veterinarian. Most people on the island were nice enough, but he didn’t let anyone close. This person was watching him at some very vulnerable moments whether she knew it or not.
That evening he cut the dewormer pill up into quarters and mixed it into the tooka food.  He placed the plate down and Vaar’ika started eating. She paused at one point, knowing there was something different, and Crosshair held his breath. She took a taste and didn’t seem to mind and finished the entire thing. He felt so much relief. That night, like every night at this point, the kitten climbed into his bed and slept cuddled up against him. When she got up to stretch her feet or if she needed to go outside, he immediately woke up at the loss of her tiny body’s warmth. Then they’d get back to bed and fall asleep together.
Crosshair started finding reasons to visit the vet clinic in the days leading up to vaccination day. The smallest question about changing her food as she grew, asking questions about exercise, and some of the more mundane things. He knew that he just wanted to see Rayla and have an excuse to get outside with Vaar’ika. Rayla didn’t mind. He always patiently waited if she was already with someone or had an appointment. She liked seeing him and the positive impact the tooka and the sniper had on each other.  She let Crosshair say as much or as little as he wanted. She asked questions but knew when to back off. She wasn’t a completely open book, but she shared parts of herself with him too. He got curious and asked how she ended up on Pabu one day after she’d shown him how to make sure the kitten’s nails didn’t get too long. She explained how she left her home world when the Empire started taking over cities on the other side of her planet. She wasn’t going to wait around to see what would happen.
“Smart,” he replied. Rayla smiled sadly. She missed her former home, but knew she was lucky to be here. The threat of sea surges was much less daunting than dealing with the Empire.
“See you next time, Crosshair.”
He let a tiny smile escape and he left.
When he showed up for the kitten’s scheduled vaccines, he was a bit of a mess. He didn’t want her to be upset or hurt, but he also didn’t want to risk her dying of something preventable.
“I’ll be quick and I’ll use the smallest needle I have,” Rayla promised. “Do you want me to take her in the back and just get it over with or do you want to be with her.”  She knew some animals did better away from their nervous person, but it was very much a case-by-case situation.
“I can’t leave her,” he replied.
Rayla nodded and instinctively put a hand on his arm.  He let out a breath. They went back in the exam room and she weighed the tooka, noticing she’d put on a good amount of weight.
“Would you like to sit and hold her instead of keeping her on the exam table,” the vet asked.
Crosshair nodded and sat down, holding Vaar’ika. A small smile pulled at his cheek and he relaxed as she looked up at him. She wasn’t scared. The little fluff ball was just happy to be with him.
“I’ll be quick. Just two little jabs. Here we go.”  Rayla moved quickly and precisely.  The kitten let out a couple of squeaks, but nothing too bad. After it was over, Rayla smiled as she heard him quietly telling Vaar’ika what a great job she did.  As he was about to leave, Rayla decided to take her chance.
“Hey, not to be too forward,” she started, suddenly feeling very nervous now that she was putting this into words.  Crosshair turned back to look at her curiously.
She continued, trying to keep any shakiness at bay.  “You’ve stopped by a lot and we’ve gotten to know each other more and I was just thinking… if you want to spend some time together after hours, let me know.”
“Dinner,” he asked.
“I’d like that,” she replied.
“Tomorrow?”
“You know when I close.”
“I’ll be here.”
Both felt a warmth radiate over their cheeks as they said their goodbyes for the day. Crosshair carried his little bundle home while his mind ran wild with all kinds of thoughts. He didn’t want to let his nerves get to him and at the same time, he was giddy at the thought of spending more time with Rayla. He had to grin to himself. She liked his company. He hadn’t gotten very close to anyone who wasn’t a clone. There was an understanding with his brothers. He’d grown up with them. Omega was incredibly understanding of everyone, almost to the point of his annoyance. Even with the regs, there was an understanding. Learning about someone in-depth with a completely different background was a newer experience to him, but he found that Rayla embraced each bit of himself that he revealed. Even when he was having an extra grumpy and stressful day, she seemed happy to see him.
The next evening, he left Vaar’ika with Wrecker and Omega. They were more than happy to babysit the tooka.  They were having a movie night and Crosshair knew she would be doing her utmost to steal their snacks. The thought made him very happy.
He tried to pick out his nicest outfit and headed to the vet clinic.  He sat in the waiting room and listened to Rayla explain the medication dosage for someone’s pet bird. Rayla joined him a few minutes after the bird and their owner left.  She’d quickly changed out of her scrubs and into a simple dress before joining him.
“You look nice,” she said with a smile.
“So do you.”
“I thought I’d try to wear something nicer than my scrubs,” she replied.
“You’d look nice in anything,” he said as heat rose to his cheeks.
Rayla wasn’t sure what to say. She felt seen and beamed up at him.  They headed to a quiet restaurant on the other side of the island. While people all tended to know each other on Pabu, they both wanted some time just the two of them so the calmer spot seemed more ideal. They ordered and sat while watching the sun start to set.
“I’ll level with you,” Rayla said. “I’ve talked to your siblings. I feel like I know quite a bit about you, but I want to learn about you from you.”
He simply nodded. “Not much to say,” he replied.
“I’m sure that’s not true.”
Rayla asked him some questions, wanted to know a bit about sniping, and how he liked the island.  She was also interested in his enhanced skills. The scientist in her was curious, but she wanted to keep it respectful. Crosshair’s comments were short as usual, but as time went by and they ate, he shared a bit more about himself. For now, they avoided the topic of the Empire.
“Tell me about yourself,” he said before taking a sip of his drink. He was much more interested in learning about her than talking about himself.
“I think you already know a lot about me from our earlier conversations,” she answered.
“Hmm,” he said thoughtfully with a bit of a smile on his face. “Have you always worked alone? You do so much.”
“I had a vet tech until I came here. Actually, I purchased a GH-7 medical droid recently and I’m trying to modify it for veterinary work.”
“Tech will be pleased to hear that,” Crosshair replied. “He loves those kinds of projects. He’ll pick your brain next time he sees you.” Crosshair was pleased too. He saw how hard she worked and felt she needed a bit of a break sometimes. Having an assistant could go a long way in helping make her job easier.
“I’m sure. If I run into trouble Tech’s the first person I’d ask for help when it comes to droids.” She took a couple more bites of food and added, “Of course it helps to have the personal touch and I’ll still be very involved. It’ll just help to have a droid to do some of the more routine and boring things, measuring out and compounding medication, answering comms, billing, ordering supplies, passing my tools during surgeries, and making sure procedures are as precise as possible.” She then told a story about a droid she knew in vet school who was reprogrammed to only want to work on massiffs. A couple of her fellow vet students thought it would be funny for the professor’s droid to randomly refuse to help with other animals during demonstrations and who tried to switch places with other droids so it could work exclusively on massiffs. He watched her with a soft smile on his face while she told this story. As she finished, she paused for a moment.
“Sorry,” she said. “Didn’t mean to go on. It was just a silly thing to watch unfold.”
“No, I liked it,” he replied. He didn’t want her to stop. “Dessert?”
She beamed and nodded. They shared a piece of cake topped with all kinds of local fruit. He let her have the last bite but hoped it wouldn’t be the last time they shared a meal.  He walked her home and once at the door bit his lip as his eyes darted a bit.
“Could we do this again,” he asked.
“What are you doing on Benduday?”
Each date felt a little more comfortable than the last. His favorite dates were whenever they would go out on a boat together just the two of them. It was incredibly peaceful and gave him the chance to be a bit more open without worrying about anyone else around them.
One evening she was supposed to meet him at the restaurant and didn’t. He’d brought flowers and wore a new shirt and definitely didn’t love the feeling of sitting at the table alone. He thought to himself that this was the first time in a long time where he was consistently seeking the presence of another instead of solitude. Before he could spiral and let too many negative thoughts enter his mind, he decided to check at the clinic. He knew there might have been an emergency that required her attention.  When he arrived, the clinic door was unlocked and he saw a light coming from an exam room.  He let himself in and sat in the waiting area.
In the exam room, Rayla explain the situation to the worried owner. Her scans indicated a foreign object blocking the stomach and she and GHost – the now modified GH-7 droid – completed surgery to remove the offending mass. She sent the patient and their person home with a course of medication to help. Not long after they left, Rayla came out to find Crosshair dozing in his chair.  She walked up to him and kissed his forehead.
“Mm.” He opened his eyes to look up at her. “Missed you.”
“I’m so sorry,” she said. “It was an emergency.”
“I know,” he replied, standing up and kissing her cheek. “These are for you.”
She took the flowers and kissed him again. “They’re lovely. Thank you.”  After a pause and check of the time, she added, “I’ll clean up quickly. Walk me home?”
He simply nodded. She cleaned off all the equipment and the table in the exam room, turned out the lights, and took his hand. They took their time walking together. It was a pleasant night and both were a little sad they didn’t get to have a relaxing dinner together.
“We should go out after Vaar’ika heals from her spay surgery,” Rayla suggested, knowingly adding, “I know you won’t want to leave her until she’s all healed up.”
“I just want to make sure she’ll be okay,” he answered. “But yes. I’d like that.”
She squeezed his hand and they grinned at each other.
The night before Vaar’ika’s spay, Crosshair was a mess. He barely slept. The only thing that calmed him down was the little tooka herself. She had no idea what was coming but was simply living in the moment and in this moment, she wanted to sleep on his chest. He sat in front of a holovid with his family and slowly stroked the her soft fur. They fell asleep together as usual, but the next morning, his jitters were back.
He walked her to the clinic, letting her perch on his shoulder, but carrying a crate since she would still be drowsy on the way home and Rayla insisted she needed a crate to limit movement while she healed.
“Good morning,” Rayla said as they came through the door. “Ready?”
Crosshair didn’t respond but tried to smile.
“She’s going to do great. I even have my droid GHost ready to go, unless you aren’t comfortable with him assisting me.”
Crosshair simply shook his head that he didn’t mind. “I trust you.”
Rayla took Vaar’ika and the crate as Crosshair tried to decide if he wanted to sit or pace. Her experience said that getting this over with was the best plan. Her voice softened and she tried to reassure him.
“It won’t take long. I’ll make sure she has pain management and that she’s fully anesthetized, so she doesn’t feel anything during the procedure.”
He nodded and sat down.  Rayla took the tooka to the back to prepare her for surgery. GHost weighed her and drew the appropriate levels of medication. As the tooka went to sleep and Rayla shaved her belly, Crosshair could hear the calm way she addressed his little companion.
“Looks like you’re asleep already. Oxygen levels and heart rate are normal. Let’s begin.” It wasn’t long before Crosshair heard her say, “There’s that little uterus. Tiny thing. Already out. Let’s close.”
Crosshair started shaking but breathed through it. The adrenaline that was coursing through his system all morning had finally started to wear off and it left him feeling a bit dizzy. He sat back and focused on his breathing while he heard the woman he loved talking sweetly to Vaar’ika.  Not long after, Rayla reappeared with a sleepy tooka in the crate. Without thinking about it, Crosshair embraced her as he became overwhelmed with relief.
“She did great, love. She really did. She should heal up perfectly.”  Rayla went over care instructions and ended it with “She should stay in her crate as much as possible for the first week. No climbing or jumping. I used surgical glue that has some bacta in it so she will heal faster. Try to keep that cone on her so she doesn’t lick.” Crosshair nodded. “And comm me if anything comes up.”
Vaar’ika slept most of the day. She whined a bit at dinner time and Crosshair let her outside only long enough to relieve herself and then it was back inside before she could go exploring. She seemed like her normal self but was also pretty groggy. He ate in his room so he could watch her and made sure she took her medication and ate enough. That night, he knew he was supposed to let her sleep in her crate, but the drugs from earlier had worn off enough that she knew exactly where she was and didn’t understand why she wasn’t allowed to sleep in bed with him. She cried until he relented and purred as she snuggled up against him in his comfortable bed.
The next morning was the hardest. She felt an ache at the incision site and it clearly hurt her to move compared to yesterday, despite the pain medication. He tried not to think too hard about it, feeling unsure of when to ask for help and what was normal. She’d had surgery after all, it was impossible for her to feel completely healed in less than a single day.  He laid around the house with her, cuddling her close since that seemed to help her stay more comfortable. He was grumpier with his siblings, though. He tried to keep to himself, but once Omega and Wrecker started playing and making a bit of a racket, he took Vaar’ika to the clinic. He wasn’t sure exactly why he was going. He didn’t think it was an emergency, but knew Rayla would be done with her work, barring anything urgent. He sat in the waiting room and talked gently to the little ball of tired fluff laying in his arms. He rhythmically stroked her fur, but didn’t feel her usual happy purr.
“She okay,” Rayla asked, appearing as she finished cleaning up the exam room.
“Not sure,” Crosshair replied.
“Mind if I look?”
Crosshair handed the tooka over to Rayla who carefully turned her over.
“Looks like it’s healing fine. Don’t see any sign of infection. She might just be in a bit more pain than anticipated. I can give her an extra little med patch if you want to try that.”
Crosshair nodded. As Rayla retrieved a patch and cut it down to the right size, she asked, “What else is going on?”
“What do you mean?”
“You have a lot on your mind and you look… gruff.”
He shook his head and let out a breath.  “Just worried about her and it’s loud at home.”
“Well, you’re welcome to have some quiet time here. I have some paperwork to do, some blood tests to analyze, and then I’m headed home. You’re welcome to join me if the two of you need a change of pace.”
Crosshair’s eyes warmed and he returned her familiar smile.  He sat back down and went back to petting Vaar’ika until she fell asleep. The patch seemed to help her feel better and by extension, he felt better.  Rayla worked nearby, looking through her datapad, taking inventory, and updating her notes as she went along. The rest of the day went by without a hitch. It was a good day when there were no major emergencies. She made sure her comm was on, knowing that some days no one needed her until she left for home. She packed up and walked home with Crosshair and Vaar’ika.  As they headed down the road, she broke the silence.
“She hasn’t slept in her crate, has she?”
Crosshair grinned almost shyly. “She’s used to sleeping with me. She stays still.”
“As long as she’s still. Don’t want her hurting her incision.”
The evening was perfectly quiet. They ate a simple meal and cleaned up together while Vaar’ika napped in the armchair. Later, they found themselves in bed together for the first time. Crosshair lifted his arm and pulled Rayla to his side. She laid an arm around his waist while Vaar’ika curled up in the crook of his neck. He felt his heartbeat syncing with Rayla’s. She smiled and kissed his cheek before she closed her eyes. They soaked in each other’s warmth and fell asleep.

Haven't written in a while and got rusty, so this might not be good :') Anyways, I LOVE THIS REQUEST AHHH 💕💕💕 Dadttore is so UGH 😫👌This request got me all giddy. I hope you'll like it :D
Tumblr media
Gentle flakes fell to the ground as you went from store to store. Your husband was in need of some materials to carry out his experiments. He asked a segment to gather them but you offered to help instead. You wanted to go out for a stroll anyways, so why not?
You were about to go back to the palace when you heard a noise coming from a nearby alleyway. It sounded like someone was rummaging through something.
You knew it was dangerous to investigate on your own without any weapons on you. But you couldn't help it, curiosity got the best of you and your legs subconsciously brought you closer towards the sounds of clanking.
Following the noise, it led you to a dumpster. The lid was closed so you weren't able to tell what was inside. Judging by the size of it though, you assumed it would be some sort of animal. You were expecting to see a raccoon when you opened the lid but what you saw made you scream and stepped back instead.
What the…
You slowly opened the lid again and an equally shocked but frightened face stared back at you.
What is a child doing here? You thought.
It was a little girl who looked no older than ten. She was wearing a thin layer of clothing and her hair was stained. In her hands she was holding a paper plate of thrown out food from a restaurant.
When you got closer again, her hands that were holding the plate recoiled to her torso and turned into fists. Tears were forming at the corner of her eyes and her form shook.
"Hey… it's okay, I'm not going to hurt you," you said in a hushed voice.
Once the little girl seemed calmed down enough, you spoke again, “What are you doing here? Where are you from?”
"I'm from over there…" She pointed. You followed where her finger was pointing at and your heart dropped.
House of the Hearth.
The orphanage where Arlecchino trained the kids to become soldiers? What was this kid doing here?
"I see… I don't know how you got here but why don't I take you back—"
"No!" She yelled, taking you off guard.
"Please… I don't want to go back there… The others are mean to me…"
She was now sobbing and you were trying to think of what to do.
She looked like she really didn't want to go back there… You would feel bad for forcing her to go back. But it couldn’t be good to just leave a kid all by herself here as well.
From the looks of her fragile frame, she definitely hasn’t eaten a sustainable meal in a long time. Poor kid, it was cold out and that bread didn’t look edible.
What other options did you have?
You were someone who adored kids, and the protective instinct inside of you screamed.
Without thinking, you blurted out, “Why don’t you come with me? I can take you to a warmer place and give you something nicer to eat."
The little girl was hesitant, but you could see her eyes lit up a little.
“Really?”
“Of course! Being out here by yourself is dangerous anyways.”
She got out of the dumpster and approached you with small steps. Once she got close enough, you took your own coat off and draped it over her.
“There we go, this will keep you warm enough until we get back,” you muttered, gently taking her hand into yours as you made your way back to the resting quarters.
- - -
When you reached the palace, you quickly took her to your room, trying to avoid anybody on your way there. You couldn't risk letting anyone see the kid here, who knew what they would do to her if they found out she escaped Arlecchino's orphanage?
And you most certainly didn't want to face that harbinger's wrath.
You let out a breath of relief when a Fatui agent only nodded to greet you as he passed the hallway without making a comment on how your stance was off, while simultaneously holding the bag of materials at an awkward angle. You waved back at him with a sheepish smile. Once you made sure he was out of sight, you reached behind you to take a hold of the little girl's hand again before continuing on your way.
"Alright, we're almost there."
You looked both sides of the hallway, taking a double check to make sure nobody saw you before grabbing the door handle and pushing it open, pulling the kid inside with you.
The door closed with a click and you leaned against it, trying to calm down how fast your heart was beating. Archons, were you glad that Dottore convinced you to take some basic stealth lessons. You didn't think it was necessary… up until now.
"Okay, well, welcome to my room!" You walked over to a desk and set the bags there. Thinking you could just give them to your husband later.
The girl looked around your room in awe, it was huge. To her, this felt like a bedroom a royalty would own from the tales she had heard of. There was a queen-sized bed in the middle and the blankets looked really soft and fluffy. She could imagine how nice it would to sleep on it.
"Wow… I've never been in a room this big before!" She exclaimed, her eyes wandered through different pieces of furniture and objects decorating the room.
"How about we give you a nice warm bath? Then I can show you around more later."
You took her to the bathroom and ran a hot bath for her. She was making bubbles in her hands while you washed her hair, rinsing the suds off her head.
"And we're done!" You clapped your hands together, feeling satisfied with how clean she was now.
You wrapped a towel around her and took her back to your room again, digging through your closet for clothes that were suitable enough for her to wear for the time being. Fortunately for you, you were able to find some of your old clothes from when you were a kid. You didn't throw them away just in case you wanted to reminisce about your childhood.
Well, instead of sitting at the bottom of the drawer collecting dust, you could put them to good use again.
Once you were done with dressing her up, she looked at herself through the closet mirror and her eyes widened at how nice they looked on her.
"Mr(s)... Um…"
"What's wrong?" You asked, worried that she might not like them.
"I don't know what to call you…"
That was when you realized you never told her your name, nor did she ever tell you hers.
"Ah, how could I forget! My apologies. You can call me (Y/n)! What about you, sweetie?"
Her eyes glinted at your name and smiled.
"Thank you, Mr(s) (Y/n)! I really like these clothes. They look so nice!" She paused before responding to your question.
"My name is Lilly."
Right as she finished her sentence, someone knocked on the door.
"Dear? Are you in there?" A voice you knew too well spoke.
Shoot.
It was your husband. And there was a random kid with you.
Oh no, what am I going to tell him?! You panicked. How were you going to explain to him you brought a child to your shared bedroom?
Your thoughts were disrupted when he knocked on the door again.
"Dear? I'm coming in—" The door handle twitched, but stopped when you yelled, "Wait!"
You told the child to hide in the closet and to not come out unless you said so. A look of confusion mixed with fear appeared on her face but she obliged anyway, hiding at the corner of the closet.
Closing the closet doors, you jogged over to the bedroom door and opened it, revealing your husband who was standing there, twirling a vial of blue liquid in his hand.
"There you are, darling. That took you a while, is everything alright?" He asked.
"Oh nothing, I was just, uh, examining the materials I went to collect for you!"
Archons, you hoped that was convincing enough.
"Really? Since when did you get interested in Chaos Cores?" He teased, showing you his signature grin.
"Just today! Haha…"
"Is that so…" He trailed off, noticing something on the ground.
"Hmm?" He hummed, taking his mask off to take a better look of the floor.
There was a water droplet. No, multiples of them.
"May I ask why the carpet is wet?"
Oh no, it must've been from the little girl's hair. It was still wet and you didn't dry it fully.
"I-I spilled some water! Yeah… I was clumsy." You smiled sheepishly at him.
He looked around the room and raised a brow.
"But I don't see a cup anywhere around here?" His attention went back to the droplets on the ground and noticed it was a trail.
A trail leading toward the closet.
He walked over to it and stopped right in front of it. You were about to stop him but he was quicker. His hands swung the closet doors open.
From where you were standing, the clothes on the hangers casted shadows on her form and they were hiding her well. They should be able to hide her from your husband's sight too… you hoped.
But of course, with keen eyes such as his, nothing could escape him. His squinted eyes were now slightly widened. He expected to find someone or something, but definitely not a kid.
"What—"
"W-wait! Zandik, let me explain."
You told him how she ran away from the orphanage and she was all alone out there, so you wanted to help her.
"So you're telling me… this is a kid from Arlecchino's orphanage? Darling, you know how she could get if she finds out," he reasoned with you.
"I know, but she was scared! And I couldn't just leave her on the streets on her own either. So with no other choices, I decided to just take her here, and maybe take her in…" You trailed off. Gesturing to the little girl that it was safe to come out now. She got up and approached you, hiding behind your leg as she looked at Dottore.
"So, can she stay, please?"
He stared intently at the ground, seemingly deep in his thoughts.
Now, you knew that Dottore was not fond of kids. But unbeknownst to you, occasionally he would dream of having this fantasy of his. To have a little family with you…
And of course, he wasn't ready to become a father to his own kids yet, so maybe he'd take this opportunity to practice parenting.
He signed, faking his annoyance to conceal his unexplainable excitement.
"Fine, she can stay."
- - -
For the first week of her stay here, she was shy. The only person she wasn't afraid to talk to was you. She tried to talk to Dottore once but he unintentionally acted cold towards her, causing her to back away.
You couldn't blame him though, he was awkward around kids.
So, to make it up to her in his own way, he ordered his segments to set up a new room for her.
You brought her to the room they were preparing in, wanting to know how she was liking her room so far and to also introduce her to the segments.
You knocked on the door and went in, while she trailed after you, hiding behind you as usual.
The segments stopped what they were doing and turned to the sound of someone coming in.
"Ah! So this is the kiddo Prime told us about." Beta was the first to speak.
Theta got closer to the both of you and kneeled down to Lilly's eye level.
"Hello! I'm Theta, you must be Lilly, yes?"
Lilly was too distracted by the white and black mask he was wearing, not listening to a single word that came out of his mouth. She tugged at your pants and said, "Mr(s) (Y/n), he looks like a clown!"
Upon hearing her words, you and the other segments began to laugh, all except for Theta.
"S-She called you a clown!" Beta wheezed.
"Quite fitting, don't you think, Theta?"
"I'm not a clown! God, what was Prime thinking when he chose to wear this mask back then…" He said, deadpan.
Omega quieted down his chuckle and asked, "So, how are you liking your room so far, little one?"
Lilly looked around the room, the wall was painted with her favorite color and animal for the pattern. The bed she was given to was smaller than the one in your room, but was still big to her. A unicorn plushie, which was made by Delta, was placed on it.
"I love it!" She bounced slightly in excitement.
- - -
For the second week, Dottore and Lilly would start to interact with each other more. He has been taking notes by observing the way you'd talk to her, how you'd take care of her…
He was still awkward around her, of course. But at least he wasn't being cold to her anymore,  so that was an improvement.
And Lilly, she was starting to grow more comfortable around him, as well. He wasn't as intimidating as she thought he'd be when he gifted her a mini robot, made with the leftover parts of a ruin guard. And now, she would sleep with it next to her at all times.
You were out to run some errands today, leaving Lilly in Dottore's care. She was reading a children's book on her bed, while Dottore sat next to her, patting her gently on her head.
She got to one of the pages and her eyes shined at how pretty the princess looked in the picture.
"Mr. Zanny?" She called out to him, using the nickname she gave him.
He hummed in response, signaling her to continue.
"I want my hair to look like this pretty lady's, do you know how to do that?"
He leaned over to see an illustration of a woman with long, braided hair.
"Why yes, I do, angel. Would you like me to do that for you?" He said.
In return, he also had a nickname for her. He thought the word "angel" suited her. As she's such a pure and innocent child.
Lilly nodded eagerly and turned around, her back facing Dottore. Grabbing a brush from the vanity table, he brushed her hair and undid the tangled locks, until it was tidy enough to be put in a braid.
You'd expect him to not know anything about braiding someone's hair but he was surprisingly good at it.
Once he was done, he grinned at how it turned out. Lilly went over to a mirror and admired her hair, it looked neat and exactly how she thought it'd look like.
She turned back to where Dottore and muttered out a little shy "Thank you."
- - -
It was late at night and everyone was sound asleep. Well, almost everyone.
Lilly was turning in her sleep, horrid images of scary monsters flashed in her mind and she woke up with a gasp. Her eyes darted around her room and it was dark. The moon light from the window barely lit the room up. She got out of bed and took the tiny robot Dottore made with her.
Luckily for her, the room you and Dottore slept in was not far from hers, she opened the door slightly ajar and peered inside. Noticing the two slightly moving silhouettes in the room.
She tiptoed to your side of the bed and poked your arm.
"Mr(s) (Y/n)?" She whispered.
You were a light sleeper so it didn't take you long to stir awake.
"Mmm… Lilly? Why are you awake?" You asked, turning over to face her fully, waking your husband up as well.
"I had a nightmare and I'm scared…" She told you, her voice trembled and her arms wrapped around the robot tightly.
"Oh, you poor thing…"
You helped her to get on the bed and laid her down between you and your husband. He yawned and was trying to comprehend why Lilly was in the bed with the two of you.
He looked at you for answers and you only said, "Nightmare."
"Would you like to listen to a story to help you sleep, Lilly?" You asked.
She pondered for a while before answering, "Yes please."
“Let’s see… Once upon a time, there was a little girl,” you began, then looked at Dottore to continue. He groaned a little and tried to think of something in his sleepy state.
“The little girl had a knife— I mean uh… A teddy bear? His name was… Bob,” he said. Making his sentence a bit more family-friendly when you glared at him.
“She and the teddy were best friends, they would go on an adventure together.” You added more to it.
“Then the little girl later strangled the teddy—“ He stopped when you hit his arm.
"What he meant to say was, the little girl later helped the teddy bear with a mission…"
The both of you carried the story on, well, more like you having to constantly make changes to Dottore's… questionable imagination.
But overall, it went pretty well, sometimes Lilly would snicker at the jokes Dottore made. But laughed even harder at his horrible attempt at talking in a high pitch voice to mimic the teddy bear.
His face was red from embarrassment, to say the least, that he made a fool out of himself just to make the two of you laugh.
It was embarrassing… but it was worth it, to hear the laughter of his two sweet angels.
"And finally, Bob made it home safely… The end." You ended the story.
You turned your attention to Lilly and you could tell she was getting tired, her eyes were droopy and she could barely keep herself awake.
As her mind was about to take her away into the land of dreams, you heard her muttering.
"Night night, daddy… Night night (mommy / other daddy)..."
Bonus:
Dottore walked into Arlecchino's office and slammed some papers onto her work desk.
"The papers are signed, she is now officially my daughter."
"Very well."

YALL I SWEAR- Rollerskates and Council members Part 2.
Ok, it is still tomorrow for me, idk about you time-zone different people. But yeah.
If I was too later for your time zone I apologise 😭
Anyways:
PROLOGUE
WARNING: ANGST AND ABUSE
An old man walked into the room of a young boy.
“WHAT IS THIS?” The old man screeched. The boy cowered in fear.
“My report card..” the boy said. The man growled.
“A B plus? What is this, a joke?!” The man yelled. The boy shook his head hesitantly.
“Uncle I can explain..” the boy replied. The man waited for his response.
“There’s this.. uh.. girl-“
“A GIRL? YOU HAVE MORE IMPORTANT THINGS TO THINK ABOUT THAN A GIRL!!” The man lashed out at the boy, dragging a sharp object up his arm. The boy cried in pain.
“Uncle, I'm sorry it won't happen again!” The boy sobbed. The man scowled at the boy.
“Oh stop crying, crying is for the weak.” He growled, before leaving the boy with a gash in his arm and a first-aid kit that the boy himself had bought and hidden.

Hunter was home, full of the chicken-bread Willow had given him.
Fuck, shes pretty. Hunter couldn't help but think. He knew he'd fallen, he’d fallen really quickly. It only took him one day to realise that he’d fallen for her.
(Help i am listening to teeth and it's stopping my brain from thinking because it's so good to vibe to.)
(Also I’m doing this in the middle of a class of some description that I should be paying attention to because people play games on the computers. We got them chromebooks and they’re probably not doing the work. But anyways- 💀)
Hunter sat on his bed quietly. All he could think about was Willow. He sighed, checking his watch. Nearly time for his bread and water meal. At least he could savour this round of stale bread because he was already full. He knew he’d better stop gushing over her school photo that he somehow acquired.
The door opened quietly and a plastic water bottle and three stale bits of bread were thrown at him. He stuffed the break in a box under his bed, and flopped down, bringing out her photo again. He sighed. She sounded so concerned after learning that he didn’t eat much on the weekend, and he wondered what she’d act like if he told her about his home life. He brought the bed sheet over himself and drifted softly to sleep.
______________
Willow got home very quickly, but spent her afternoon wondering about Hunter. He’d been so quick to defend his earlier statement of the fact he didn’t eat at home. Was it a lie?
Despite her concern, her dads cotived when she came out for dinner, her red face and floppy ears.
(In this story, floppy ears are gush/embarrassment.)
Gilbert had an idea of what was going on, but Harvey was clueless.
“Hey flower, what’s on your mind?” Gilbert asked. Willow snarled back to reality, facing her dad.
“Uh-“ Willow thought for a minute. Tell the truth or lie? Truth. “A boy.” She smiled, giggling in embarrassment. Gilbert snorted with laughter.
“A boy?” He asked.
“Yeah.”
“What’s his name?” Gilbert asked. Willow knew he was just trying to pull information fro her, but she decided she was going to answer this time.
“Hunter.”
“What does he look like?”
Gilbert recalled the name. It was the name of the boy who wrote her up everyday for wearing things against the dress code, which he thought was unreasonable.
“He’s blonde.. with magenta eyes. He has a… sizeable nose.” She giggled. Gilbert loves listening to his daughter.
“Special to you, is he?” Gilbert asked. Willow faced dropped.
“Actually, I’m concerned for him. When we were talking, he slipped in speech and said he didn’t eat at home, but quickly corrected himself to not eating much at home.” She explained.
This sparked a thought of concern in Willow’s father. All he could produce is an ‘oh’, before leaving the conversation.
______________
“Willow, please this school needs to look good for the school that is playing here today.” Hunter whined as Willow absentmindedly tracked mud into the school.
“Oh- sorry Hunter.” Willow blushed and took her roller skates off. Hunter nearly gasped in surprise. She didn’t usually do this. Then surprising him even further, she had a cloth in her bag, and she wiped up the mud she had brought in.
“Oh… well that was different from you.” Hunter commented sweetly. Willow smiled.
“Anything, anytime.” She smiled. “You can talk to me about anything, you know.” She added. Hunter tipped his head to one side. That was a strange statement. Maybe he was overthinking it.
“Uh, thanks?” He replied to her. Something wasn’t right. This didn’t seem like her. Where was ‘rebellious roller skater that can do anything and you can’t stop me.’? He shook his thoughts away. Something wasn’t right but he couldn’t put his finger on it. Obviously, apart from the fact she wasn’t rebelling.
Well, he can’t focus on that right now can he? He had a school to keep clean.
PART 3 OR NO?
The next part will be MUCH more Huntlow focused than thought focused, promise.

The Game
Erik!Stevens X Black!Reader
Part Six
- - - - - - - - - -
Erik being the most popular person at  Texas Southern University, he has his heart set on a particular girl.
- - - - - - - - - -
Tumblr media
(Y/N) sat at her desk, reviewing her notes for her astronautics class. She needed something to keep her mind off of the situation with Erik for the time being but she knew she would have to face him. Especially because she left her things and her car over at his house. She woke up with a huge headache, still a tad bit drunk from the night before so that really wasn’t an option to try and go over there.
She fixed herself a nice cup of tea, put on some classical music, and did what she did best. Studying. She couldn’t help but think about the fact that her feelings were hurt. Especially after everything she thought her friends said. As much as she wanted to refuse the idea of Erik using her to get back at the two of them, the little piece stayed in her mind.
She heard her door open, turning around to see Omariana in her gown with a croissant in her hand. “Here, eat this. You need some bread.” she placed it on her desk and she thanked her.
“Thank you,” she whispered before pulling the crossing apart and eating pieces of the bread. Omariana leaned against the desk and started to stare (Y/N) down. She looked back at her before sighing.
“Yes?”
“Don’t catch an attitude with me. I still deserve an explanation from last night,” she said to her with a chuckle. “I mean, Jakeen told me a few things but I want to hear your side of the story,” she said. (Y/N) placed the croissant on her desk before starting,
“I was coming out of the bathroom and he was there. I-”
“He followed you into the bathroom. Fucking weirdo.” Omariana rolled her eyes.
“I’m sayin’. Anyways, he tries to talk to me about Erik and how I didn’t know him like he did. And how he said that he was changing me because I started to drink and go to parties.” she said with a roll of her eyes, making Omariana scoff.
“Okay but that doesn’t make no sense. Because you were planning this way at the beginning of summer. Boy bye.” she said sitting on (Y/N)’s bed.
“That part. Then Aliyah brought her ass out of no were asking if there was an issue. I was just trying to leave but he bought up how I was fucking Erik.”
“No... Aliyah was on Instagram last night on some bull shit.” Omariana replied. For some reason that just made her stomach drop.
“Wait.. what?” Omariana pulled her phone out of her robe pocket, pulling up her Instagram and showing Aliyah’s page.
Dumb ass hoe blocked me... how you claim you were a friend but fucked him at the chance. Bitch been plottin from the start ong
“Bruh, I been had her blocked, what the fuck is she talking about?” (Y/N) said before going to the next story.
Enjoy my leftovers lil hoe, that’s what I call a rebound bitch fr
“Does she not have anything else to do with her life. Tired ass bitch.” (Y/N) mumbled giving her the phone back.
“I mean... you had to know that this was going to happen sooner or later.” Omariana warned her.
“I know, I know. We tried to be secret about our relationship but fucking Travis. Like, dead ass he should’ve just kept that shit on the low if he liked me. I don’t even think he really likes me. He just like the idea of me liking him but I don’t want him no more. Not after doing some pussy shit like that.” she snapped turning up.
“Forreal. Especially after Erik punched the Mario coins out of that nigga. That is not a turn-on.” Omariana laughed.
“It was kind of sexy when Erik punched him. Not gonna lie.” (Y/N) admitted.
“About Erik, have you talked to him?” she asked as (Y/N) shook her head.
“He’s been texting me but I have my phone on do not disturb.”
“So how do you know he’s been texting you?”
“Because I be checking.” The both of them laughed as (Y/N) sighed. “I really don’t know what to do or say to him. Like god’s honest truth, what they were saying, as much as I hate it, does make sense.” she finished. Omariana sighed before saying,
“You know I wouldn’t tell you anything that I know would hurt in the long run right?” Omariana said.
“Of course.”
“And you know how much I dislike Erik.. right?”
“Oh, I haven’t noticed.” (Y/N) responded nonchalantly. Omariana hit her on the thigh before saying,
“Look. I would have never thought in a million years I’d be saying this but... ever since you and Erik started dating, I noticed a change in him. Hell, even Jakeen noticed it too.” she admitted. (Y/N) tilted her head to the side.
“What do you mean?”
“He’s been more tolerable. Like a little more mindful of what he does and says. The other day I went over to Jakeens place and Erik was there, we actually had an interesting conversation just me and him. And I remember thinking to myself, wow.. he ain’t that bad. Then yesterday when he corrected himself.” she said. (Y/N) couldn’t respond to that because that’s how Erik has always been with her.
“That’s how he always been with me, though.”
“Key word.. with you. Even when he was dating ole girl he wasn’t like this. The fact that he’s actually pressed about you. I know Erik, he would’ve been moved on from this situation. Matter of fact, he wouldn’t even have fought Travis if it was some other chick.” she finished off. (Y/N) went silent as her mind started working.
“As much as you are thinking about how this looks on Erik’s part, look about the overall picture. Travis is realizing that he won’t ever get the chance to be with you. So now he is on his if I can’t have you no one can bullshit. We all peeped at how he started acting when you and Erik started to flirt with each other. At the party back in August.”
“Aye, (Y/N). Come outside with me real quick.” Travis spoke up. She looked up at him confusingly.
“Yeah, I’ll be right back,” she said. She followed him outside, Erik waited till they were out the door before looking at Omariana.
“Aye, Mari. What’s up with her? She gotta man?” he asked her as she talk to her.
”No but you ain’t finna talk to her. And what did I tell you about calling me that.” she said to him. Erik rolled his eyes.
 “Damn I can’t even-”
“You damn right you can’t. You must have forgotten, girl talk on the team. And there has been a lot of drama surrounding you.” she pointed at him as he kissed his teeth.
Omariana looked at Jakeen to see if he was peeping the same shit. Obviously, Omariana told Jakeen about the old crush that (Y/N) had on Jakeen. And Jakeen saw the way Erik looked at (Y/N)’s photo earlier. It would be like Erik to try and holler at her to get back at Travis.
Jakeen peeped it too. They both knew that Travis was slowly starting to feel her, but it was way too late. Jakeen knew once Erik made his way into (Y/N)’s life, she would want him.
But they weren’t expecting Erik and (Y/N) to fall head over heels for each other.
The night in question started to play in her memory. He had feelings for her since that night.
“Damn. I’m dumb,” she said scratching her forehead.
“Nah not dumb... you just see the good in everyone and people take advantage of that. Think about the ole girl. Even after she was caught cheating on Erik, she tried to start shit with every other girl that she thought he was talking to. So she tried to say that Erik was getting back at her for being with you. And not gonna lie, I thought it too. Until I saw how he acted around you.” she responded honestly standing up.
“All I’ma say is, maybe, give Erik a chance. He really does want you. (Y/N).” Omariana gave her one last look before leaving.
One thing she could say is Omariana was really spot-on with her advice. Not once had she ever given (Y/N) advice that didn’t turn out well for her. She grabbed her phone, unlocking it where there sat the messages that Erik sent her. Four more text messages came in.
Erik: I’m just texting you to check up on you, that’s all
Erik: You left everything over here, do you want me to drop it off.
Erik: Actually just come over, your car is here is too
Erik: Come on, I miss you...
She decided to text him back.
(y/n): can we talk
In an instant, (Y/N) received a face time call with Erik. She accepted the call, placing her phone up against her laptop.
“Hey, are you okay?” Erik asked immediately. She couldn’t help but chuckle at how fast he called and his jumping straight to the questions.
‘Hi, I’m fine. How are you?” she asked him.
“Fine, just worried about you,” he said honestly as she smiled at the camera slightly. “I want to see you. Are you coming back?” he asked her.
“Yeah... I need to call and uber but I-”
“Don’t worry about that. I’ll come pick you up,” he said. It looked like he was getting out of bed and getting dressed.
“Dang can I finish.” she laughed. “I need to study and-”
“You can study over at my house.” he cut her off. “I’m serious (Y/N), I want you over here. You were supposed to be with me last night.” he placed his phone up on his bathroom sink grabbing his toothbrush to brush his teeth.
“I know, I know it’s just-” she paused before continuing to talk. “After everything, I was just overwhelmed and I needed to be in my own space to get my thoughts together,” she replied honestly.
“I understand but look-” he spat out the toothpaste before looking dead into the camera. “I’m saying this because I want to be with you. What they were saying wasn’t true, right. I want you and I need you for real. I’ll do anything to show that to you..” he told her.
“I know, but that very thing we tried to avoid it happening,” she said worriedly.
Erik knew what she talking about. Aliyah was blowing his phone up with text messages and calls, trying to get in touch with him. Finally, he saw what she had posted online about her.
“If you’re talking about Aliyah, I’m sorry about that. Forreal,” he said.  “I’ve been ignoring all her calls and text messages,” he said.
“She’s been trying to reach out to you?” she asked him, he nodded finishing up brushing his teeth and picking up his phone.
“All last night and a little bit this morning. I’ll show you the text messages when I see you, this shit is blowing me,” he said putting on his beanie and grabbing his keys.
“Erik, I can catch an uber over there,” she said standing up and closing her door so she could get dressed.
“Nah, I’m picking you up. I should be there in about 15 minutes,” he said stepping out of his front door. The two of them hang up as she packed up her materials to study over at his house.
Erik got into his 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. He heard his phone ringing, thinking that it was (Y/N), not looking at the contact.
“Finally you answer my fucking calls nigga, the fuck is wrong with you!?” he heard the irritating voice on the other end, knowing that it was nobody but Aliyah.
“To be honest, I answered that shit on accident. Aliyah what the fuck do you want and why do you keep blowing my phone up.” he snapped at her, starting the car up and pulling out of the parking spot.
“You’re really fucking trifling you know that. Playing with that girl’s feelings to try and get back at me. Nigga let it go. I’m so over”
“How the fuck do you know I’m doing this to get back at your ass. If that is true, do you think that you would have known this by now? We’ve been fucking with each other for months now.” he snapped at her. The phone got dead silent making Erik laugh. “Now how is the silly ass bitch now. Stop fucking playing with me. You wanna sit here and act like this shit is about you, it ain’t. So you and that other nigga can hop off my dick and stop fucking with (Y/N). Because if I find out any one of y’all dumb asses said anything to her, I swear-”
“Oh please, Erik. Ain’t nobody scared of you. If I want to say something to that bitch I will happily do so. She’s the one that’s fucking my ex and-”
“And did you not cheat on me with that bum ass nigga!? Someone who was still my fucking bro!? Get the fuck out here and be real with yourself. Because it ain’t the same and you a crazy ass bitch if you think so.”
“You didn’t even give me a chance to explain myself!? You were in Oakland and I was lonely and he was-”
“Listen. I’ma be real with you. I really don’t give a fuck. That wasn’t stopping you from asking me for money, right? That wasn’t stopping you from staying in my apartment when I was in Oakland, right? Yo dirty ass would have probably fucked him in my place if I didn’t have cameras old dirty bitch.” he insulted her.
“Dirty? Nigga you fucking with a bitch that’s dirty. Who sleeps with her ex-friend’s ex. That’s fucking childish as hell bro all for what? A nigga that she wanted, wanted me? That bitch wishes she was me.”
“Nah I highly doubt that. I ain’t wasting no breath with you. Say anything to her, I’ma beat his ass, and then pay them bitches that don’t like you to jump you.” Before she could say anything else, the phone hang up
As she was tidying up her room, there was a knock on her door. “Come in!” she yelled, thinking that it was Omariana. When she noticed that it wasn’t her, but that it was Erik, she looked at him in shock.
“Hi.” he shut the door behind him before walking towards her.
“You good?” he asked her cupping her face.
“Yeah, I was just reviewing my notes and things. That’s-”
“You know what I’m talking about. I’m not talking about that.” he reminded her as she sighed.
“I’m not really a drama-filled person so this is obviously irritating me. I just wanted to keep what we had on the low and now it’s blowing back in our face,” she admitted looking back at him. He smacked his teeth letting her face go.
“I’m going, to be honest with you. Straight from the begging I didn’t want to do that shit. I want everyone to know I’m yours and vice versa. If anyone has something to say about it they can come to me. And I’ll ignore their ass like I’m doing this bitch.” he said. He pulled out his phone opening it up to see text messages from an unsaved number:
834-432-4394: Erik answers my fucking call...
834-432-4394: Tell that bitch when I see her it’s on sight, on everything.
834-432-4394: You a weak ass nigga for fucking with that bitch on god
834-432-4394: That’s fine, keep ignoring my ass. You act like we ain’t been through this before and you came back, begging to eat this pussy
“Oh, my-” she whispered rereading the text messages. It threw her by surprise how crazy this girl really was. She ain’t never seen this side of her. She was surprised she didn’t catch her like this when they were friends.
“She called me begging to talk but I don’t want anything to do with her. " Either of their asses,” he told her as she returned the phone.
“Erik... I am worried about this. I have a lot to lose if she does something.” she said sitting down at her desk. Erik kneeled in front of her grabbing her hands that were in her lap.
“I promise I won’t let anyone touch you. I put that in my life. I don’t want to be the reason that everything you worked for gets fucked up. I’ll fix it, don’t you worry about nothing.” he comforted her. He looked back at her before saying, “I will do anything to protect what we have.” he whispered to her.
She scanned his face, seeing nothing but worry and adoration. She knew he was telling the truth. And she knew that he was the type of man to stand by his word. Something in her told her not to worry, and she was going to do exactly that.

The next day, she sat in front of the mirror in the dance room, doing her normal stretches. Not surprising her though, she was getting some stares as the girls whispered amongst themselves. She had her AirPods pro so she couldn’t really hear what they were talking about. Kia, Omariana, and Brandy walked into the hall before seeing (Y/N) stretching in the mirror. She looked up and saw them walking towards her, standing up and taking out her earphones.
“Girl..” Brandy whistled as (Y/N rolled her eyes with a smile on her face.
“Don’t get me started. I swear.” she said placing her hands on her hip.
“You don’t have to tell me anything. Erik got you all posted up and shit. Y’all adorable or whatever.” Kia laughed pushing her a little bit in a teasing way.
“Mhm, could’ve fooled me.” Omariana laughed placing her bag and water on the ground.
“Well, we are taking it a little slow. On my request.” (Y/N) said a matter of factly as Omariana scoffed.
“ ‘Taking it slow’ my ass.” She mocked her. “This nigga be looking at you like he ready to chew through yo panties.” Everyone laughed as (Y/N) blushed. She knew it was true, and that look got him anything he wanted. Before she could say anything, Ms.Ruby, their coach came out on the floor.
“(Y/L/N). Lemme see you in my office.“ Everyone looked at her, as she stood up from her seat. She wiped her hands off on her thighs before walking pass the glares and stares she received. She walked into the office before closing the door shut.
“Gone head and sit down. I think you know what I’m going to talk to you about.” Coach Ruby said sitting down in her office chair.
“Yeah.. I figured.” (Y/N) sighed sitting down on the chair scratching her forehead. “Look Coach, I-”
“Hold up. Lemme finish.” she said with her hand up to signal for her to stop talking. “Now between me and you, you are the only girl on this team with the exception of a few who has given me your 100% effort since you were a freshmen. Hell, you gave me more at your tryouts when you were a little bitty thing when you were a senior in high school.” she started off. “You’re always on your Ps and Qs, crossing your Ts and dotting your Is. So when one of your dance mates comes to me and tell me that you’re messing with that boy Stevens, you know I had to say something to you right? Knowing everything he has done with this team.” she said.
“Coach Ruby with all respect, majority of them are lying. I-”
“You don’t think I know that? Trust me, I know a desperate female when I see one but like I said. You are one of my best dancers and best students and I don’t need drama getting to your head, you hear me?” she warned as (Y/N) nodded.
“Yes Ma’am.” she nodded.
“That brings me up to my next point.” she pulled out her tablet and passed it across the table as she picked it up. It was her at one of the fraternity parties that her and everyone else were on the weekend before. She had a cup of liquior in her hands and she was dancing on Erik.. a tad bit sexually.
“Did someone really send this to you?”
“Yes, Mirah did.” she rolled her eyes. Of course it would be one of the girls he entertained. “Look, I can care less about what you do once you are outside these walls. But when the outside effects what we have going on inside of these walls, that’s when I have to step in.” she reminded her.
“And has anything happened?”
“You don’t think I know about the little tussel that happened on Saturday night?” she asked her. (Y/N) sighed.
“That wasn’t even our fault. Travis-”
“All I’m hearing is excused (Y/N). And you know how I feel about those.” she stopped her. (Y/N) closed her eyes in annoyance.
“So what? Am I suppose to not date. Am I suppose to not have a life? Because people don’t know when to mind their business?” she snapped. It caught Coach Ruby off guard.
“Now wait just a minute. I don’t have a problem with you dating that boy. Like I said once your grades start slipping and drama starts happening because you started dating this boy, that’s when I have a problem with him.”
“My grades are not slipping. And me and Erik has been dating for months.” she snapped once again. That statement caught Coach Ruby off guard.
“You’ve been dating for how-”
“Long enough to know that people started messing with us once Erik and I were seen with each other. We don’t even post each other.” she said. “Now within them months, has my grades been slipping? No. Matter of fact my grades has been better than they have been since I started college. And the team and me as co-captain have been doing great have we not?” she said as the Coach sighed closing her eyes.
“Yes.You guys have.”
“Okay, so Erik is not the problem. The problem is the girls on this team feeling entitle to speak on my relationship because of Erik. Maybe we should have a discussion as a team instead of passing pictures and gossiping and get to the real issue.” she said sliding the tablet back across the table. Coach Ruby looked at the iPad then back to her.
“Do you think that will fix these issues?”
“No. But it will warn them not to be in people business before it really does effect us.”
- - - - - - - - - - -
“I can’t believe she really said that to you.” Erik said as they talked on the phone. (Y/N) was in the middle of making her some brain snacks so she could spend the rest of her time tonight to study.
“That’s not even the worse part. Mira sent her a picture of me dancing on you. Coach Ruby was like ‘she’s only doing that because she’s concerned for the team’.” she mocked her voice. “Like no bitch, she’s doing it to be messy. Like what is it with you and picking all these messy ass girls to fuck with.” she snapped.
“Whoah. First of all like I said, I only really fucked with Aliyah. Mirah was just a dumb spin the bottle bet sophmore year. Everyone else are non-factors.“ he defended himself. She sighed, feeling guilty about snapping on him.
“I know.. I’m sorry. It’s just I hate how they view you and I, like we are two concenting adults. What we do is no one business but ours.” she responded placing her fruit in a bowl.
“What she say after that.”
“She then tried to say if my grades start slipping and the team starts slacking it’s because of we are dating. First of all, we’ve been talking for months and not a damn thing change. So we not the common denominator in this expression. So if it does happen, it ain’t got shit to do with me, but it does have something to do with how they feel about shit.” she snapped.
“Yeah nah, that’s wild. The fact we stayed to ourselves for this long and no problems raised up until Travis said some shit.”
“So now, tomorrow at practice she wants me to hold a team meeting as team co- captain since Omariana won’t be here.”
“How do we feel about that?”
“Oh I’m excited.” she said quickly making him laugh. “You’re laughing I’m so serious. I’m literally just gonna be like, ima ask them a few questions. Then set the record straight.”
“Do what you gotta do.”
And she was.

When you woke up you were surprised to see Lucien sat at the desk by the large window in your room. You sat up slowly and let out a deep groan as you did. Even though you knew you’d slept for a while your body was still exhausted. You went through nightmare after nightmare without being able to wake yourself. Lucien wrote down something on the paper in front of him before slowly turning your way. He sat looking at you waiting for you to speak before he said anything.
“Good morning, or maybe afternoon, I’m not sure which one.” Your eyes gazed through the window trying to gauge when in the day it was. Lucien seemed to relax at your words, almost like he had been preparing to be yelled at.
“Good afternoon.” His smile settled the nerves within your chest. The smell of pumpkin, a mix of different spices and something uniquely Lucien filled the air.
“How long has it been?” You looked under the covers and noticed you were in a clean pair of trousers and a clean tunic. Nesta must have changed you when you cooled down enough. You knew your clothes from before would have been burnt except for the fingerless gloves you had left in your room on your bedside table. Which you reached for and slipped onto your hands.
“Day and a half.” He brought a hand up to his hair and moved the strand that had fallen in his face. You let out a relieved sigh at the answer, it was the expected time so you were happy for that.
“Where is everyone?” You had expected for Nesta to be there when you woke up so the fact she wasn’t had you slightly worried.
“There was an issue that arose in Windhaven that she, Cassian and Azriel were sent to deal with.” You nodded your head understandably and stretched your arms out over your head, a deep satisfied groan leaving your lips as you did.
“I’m starving, do you want to go to the kitchen with me?” You cocked your head at the male curiously. He nodded at you eagerly as though he just realized he was starving as well.
“I’m sure the house will give us dinner if we go and wait at the dining room table.” The house answered by opening the door.
“I kind of forgot about that.” You let out a nervous laugh as you both stood and walked out to the dining room. The house had already set the table with soup, bread, salad and tea. You both uttered a thank you as you sat and started to devour the meal in front of you. As dessert was laid out you both settled into comfortable conversation.
“I’m surprised that Nesta left you here with me.” You took a sip of your tea as Lucien took a bite of his pie. You knew of her protective nature over those she cared for. You also knew that you were one of the few she did care about.
“She threatened to cut me up into little bitty pieces if I let anything happen to you. Not that I would’ve let anything happen to you.” He cringed and you weren’t sure if it was from the memory of Nesta’s threat or if it was at the thought of letting harm befall you.
“How long are they expected to be gone for?” You took a bite of pie this time as he took a sip of tea, he gave you a shrug in response. Moments went by of comfortable silence before he spoke again.
“How did you know who I was?” He asked you as you sipped on your tea. You knew he was referring to your first meeting in the kitchen just days ago.
“Do you know many other fae with red hair and a golden eye?” The sarcasm was clear in your voice and he gave you a quiet laugh in response.
“I guess that is kind of a dead giveaway isn’t it?” You nodded your head rapidly, a smile adorning your lips at his rhetorical question. You both talked in quiet voices until you retreated to bed.

When you awoke due to a nightmare that night there wasn’t a shadow to keep you company so you had flicked your wrist out towards the end of the bed where the bodies of Brok and Zas formed. Brok curled up at your feet and Zas came clambering up to give you a rough lick on the face. You groaned lightly before pushing him away softly. He huffed as he laid down roughly on the bed beside you. Both boys' fire was just a crackle as they slept. But the warmth they radiated was enough to keep you company as you slept.
Lucien was surprised to see the hounds sitting at your feet the next morning when he crawled out of bed for breakfast. You had looked up at him and down towards them in a silent question on if he was okay with them or not. He gave you a shrug that all but screamed “I don’t care” and sat down across from you.
“Do you have any plans today?” He took a large bite of the apple the house placed in front of him, you let out an obnoxious snort at his question.
“I know all of one person well enough to make plans with them and they are not here.” You waved your hand around the room, a playful look in your eyes.
“Would you like to go into town with me?” You contemplated his question, cocking your head back and forth before giving him a nod. While you didn’t usually keep males as company you had a feeling you could trust him with your life. Plus the last day spent with him had made you comfortable and trusting.
“Can Brok and Zas come with us?” The answer wouldn’t be a deal breaker but you had missed them and didn’t have the heart to send them back to the inbetween.
“Of course they can.” He didn’t even hesitate to tell you they could and that had your heart warming. Not many people accepted the hounds so you were happy that he was. You both finished breakfast before getting ready to go. You sent Brok and Zas to the in between while you flew down and Lucien winnowed. Upon your feet hitting the ground you let them out again and a group of children just so happened to round the corner as you did. You paused for a moment afraid they would be afraid of you or the hounds but instead they squealed and chased the hounds through the streets gleefully.
“You already seem to fit right in. That’s a good thing.” Lucien whispered to you as you watched the children play with the hounds. That was something you would cherish forever, the happy sounds of children playing gleefully in the street.
“Do you have anywhere specific you’d like to go to, Lucien?” You turned to him slightly as you asked the question though you kept your eyes on the hounds as you both started slowly walking behind them.
“I figured we could just walk around. I can give you the grand tour of Velaris. Maybe we can eat lunch down here.” You hummed in reply and that was exactly what you did. You slipped in and out of buildings, Brok and Zas would wait outside patiently as you did. You eventually found a place to eat lunch that had outdoor seating where the boys could lay at your feet. You had many eyes on you, for not only being someone new but for the hounds that accompanied you. But with Lucien giving you the occasional reassuring smile you eased the worry away.
“I’ll race you back to the house.” Lucien gave you a bewildered look as he tucked his hands into the pockets of his pants. His eyes both gazing in the direction of the house of wind. You had just gotten done eating and were just walking away from the restaurant.
“What do you mean by race?” You gave him a shit eating grin before replying.
“I bet I can beat you to the house of wind and all the way up the stairs. Without using my wings and you can’t winnow either.” He seemed to contemplate what you said before shrugging, deciding he didn’t have anything better to do.
“What are we racing for?” You watched as Brok tackled Zas to the ground and rolled around with him for a moment. You were thankful that their fire wasn’t harmful unless they intended for it to be. Because if it was always harmful the grass around them would be burnt to ash.
“Loser has to tell the winner a secret.” You looked at him in question on if the prize was enough and his only reply was taking off in the direction of the house of wind in a blur. You tore after him, the boys followed you instantly. You bobbed and weaved through the crowd making sure not to bump into anyone. Laughs filled the air as you chased after him. He stayed a good pace ahead of you for a while until you caught up. You went neck and neck all the way up the stairs.
Until you skifully tripped him and he yelled after you and grabbed at your ankle. Your fingers were at the landing to the house and you kicked your foot in his general direction trying to push him farther down the stairs. You were finally able to stand up and had just opened the door when he tackled you and you both fell on the floor in a fit of breathless laughter. The boys bouncing up and licking your faces as you fell onto your backs.
“I totally won.” You both said at the same time and then glared at the other. Zas huffed at your competitive nature.
“You cheated.” You were pointing fingers at each other, jaws both falling open at the accusations flying from the other one.
“Where have you two been?” Nesta’s voice had you both wide eyed, like kids caught with their hand in the cookie jar before dinner. Cassian was standing behind her with a small smile on his face.
“I gave her a tour of Velaris. This house can be quite stuffy.” The house answered his complaint by smacking him with the door he was lying beside. You took that as your cue to stand up, then offered your hand to Lucien which he gracefully accepted. Nesta watched every movement and when Lucien was standing tall beside you she spoke again.
“I am sorry for how I have treated you in the past Lucien.” Her eyes narrowed on him and his face showed his clear surprise. His eye was wide and his mouth was gaping open and closed. You nudged him with your elbow and he shook his head.
“I accept your apology.” With his words you could see it clear, that was the first of many alliances you’d help forge.
