Catching Thoughts
PAIRING: Marc Loewe x  MC (Could be OC/reader or Nora) THEMES: Slightly NSFW (kinda), Mind Reading, No racial markers for MC SUMMARY:  Marc isn't acknowledging her more 'suggestive' thoughts and it's frustrating. So she uses his mind reading abilities to her advantage... while other people are around. (AO3 link) WORD COUNT: 2k

Tumblr media
Wind blew gently, his platinum hair blowing across his forehead and around his ears, golden earring glistening momentarily as it caught a ray of sunlight through the rustling leaves of the tree above them. His slender fingers turned the page of the book in his hand as his eyes continued running over the words printed on the beige pages, seemingly engulfed in the story. She had noticed his brows would knit ever so slightly as he concentrated and narrow his eyes as he read. And she loved watching as he did so, a little taken by his beauty. Her pen diverged from writing in her journal to sketching his lovely features, sharp in all the right places, but also soft on her eyes. She always felt this warm sense of contentment when they could sit there in silence, doing things separately but still in the comforting company of the other. And although he rarely gave her the satisfaction of knowing, he liked it too, immensely.
Her pen shaded parts of his hair, the curve of his neck, the loose collar of his shirt. She looked up to get another look at him. Right when she did his hand ran through his hair, and he stretched his back, neglecting the book for a short minute. Marc looked up at the sky, his eyes matching the vivid blue and taking in the scenery. Her eyes trailed down from his, as his shirt shifted in a way that revealed a glimpse of soft skin, catching her eye. Her focus quickly shifted to his rolled sleeves, his defined arms and pretty hands. Hands that would sneak their way around her waist when she least expected. He was many things. Sometimes cold, sometimes warm, sometimes hot with passion. At all those times she loved him, but these past few days she was hoping to get that last one going. It wasn’t that it’d even been that long, but lust was busy bugging and nagging at her thoughts. So much so she thought it was weird he hadn’t picked up on it yet. Usually when thoughts, like these or not, pestered her mind he would pick up on it. Unless… he was deliberately ignoring them.
She pretended to busy herself with her journal, but tried her best to focus on one thought, trying to ‘shout’ it at him and get him to notice, get him to react.   ‘I want to kiss you right now.’ she tried. But there was nothing. Not shocking, considering how mild that was, and a thought not so rare. ‘I want to straddle you and have your lips on mine.’ She tried again. This time there was a flinch that wouldn’t even be noticeable if she hadn’t been looking for it. He wasn’t exactly caught off guard, or shocked that she would try something like that. Marc had found it amusing and liked teasing her, until her thoughts silenced, a trick she’d picked up. He looked to her after giving it a minute, and watched her sigh and pack her small bag with her journal and pencil case before she picked herself up from the ground.   “I’m going to head home, I’ll see you at the council meeting tonight.” She said, giving him a meek smile. One that he returned as he watched her walk away. He didn’t feel like this often… bad, maybe? From a mild feeling that she was… unhappy? He shook the thought and grumpily picked up himself and his book and then the blanket he’d given her to sit on. He dusted his pants off, and shook the blanket, blades of dried grass and twigs falling to the ground.
Later that night at the town hall bustling with cryptics, all chatting and catching up before the meeting started, Marc stood with his parents. Equally as tall and intimidating as himself, the Loewe family stood out, bordered by an air of nobility and refinement. Polite nods and modest smiles, they were friendly, but still nonetheless daunting. His mother frowned at her son, a hand placed on his shoulder as she spoke to him.   “Are you alright, love?” she asked. She was a rather intuitive person, and an even more perceptive mother. Marc was an interesting child, but after a mere twenty years she knew him very well. Marc’s expression didn’t change but he let out a subtle sigh.   “I’m fine.” He said, not doing a good job of selling it, but she knew not to badger him. If he wanted to share he would do it in his own time.
Spencer and Ally at her side, the three weren’t turning heads but when a certain tall sharp vampire was actively looking for her, she was the centre of his attention as she stepped into the room. She had yet to see him, to acknowledge him. Her hair was tied up neatly, the jeans and shirt she’d been wearing that afternoon had been replaced by a simple casual dress she didn’t wear all that often. His focus trained on her, Marc could also faintly smell the light floral perfume he’d given her. She stood at the door speaking to her brother and best friend briefly before they broke off.   “He’s staring…” Ally whispered, as quietly as possible. She quickly dismissed the comment quickly and told them to hurry off. She finally turned to scan the room for Marc, almost immediately finding him. She walked towards him, not as excitedly as she usually did, even though she was always rather tame. His mother gave her a soft smile over his father’s shoulder.   “It’s so nice to see you, dear.” She greeted, holding a gloved hand out and giving her hand a squeeze. It was kind of shocking to some, how accepting the Loewe family had been of their son dating a Fae influenced human. Of course there was a slight concern when they’d first learnt of the situation, but they had quickly come around to the idea, charmed by her and the way she made their son break into a smile, to show a warmer side to himself.
Marc watched quietly as she chatted comfortably with his parents, a lot more acquainted with each other now they’d been dating a few years. As he listened to the conversation come to an end, he reached to pull his girlfriend to the side, to get her alone for a second. But just before his hand met her arm a council member stood on the stage, announcing they were starting. She smiled up at him, leading him into the rows of chairs, following his parents. Marc wasn’t one for overthinking but he knew there were things left unsaid, or totally undiscussed, and wished to speak with her, alone. The voices, discussing whatever it was this meeting was about, were drowned out and he was concentrated on her. Her eyes trained on the stage, and although he had a suspicion she wasn’t actually listening, he still couldn’t hear her thoughts. Her hand reached out for his.
‘I want your hands all over me.’ The contact, her hand in his, he finally caught one of her thoughts. His eyes widened slightly, a little shocked with the first thought he’d heard since that afternoon. She was still doing this? She feigned innocence and gave his hand a squeeze. ‘I’m wearing your favourite set.’ His breath hitched in his throat. Her thumb ran over his hand. ‘I want to scream your name.’ Marc considered pulling his hand away, as her dirty thoughts found their way into his. But before he could, she pulled her hand back into her lap and sat innocently through the rest of the meeting. He tried to listen, but as he already found these meetings tedious and dull, her thoughts were very distracting. As the meeting came to an end, a very discreetly impatient Marc had offered his parents take their time, he was going to drive his ‘tired’ girlfriend home. His father peered over his shoulder at the wide eyed and awake girl chatting to an old friend, that purple haired boy.
“Okay, we’ll see you later.” His father said, leading his mother away. Marc turned to find her, but she wasn’t there. Elliot was now chatting to Shelly, and the girl he was looking for was gone. Before he could focus on finding her, her hand met his waist, appearing seemingly out of nowhere. She smiled innocently at him but his expression was less than happy. Her smile turned to a flat line when she realised that he seemed angry. She tilted her head. Marc’s hand gripped her wrist, and he dragged her out to the hallway. He wasn’t being aggressive or hurting her but he hadn’t done this for a long, long time. Her feet scurried along the floor, following his long strides. The light of the hallway was like a flash, and suddenly she was pulled into a supply closet.
“What are you doing?” she hissed. Marc had her pinned against the wall, like a distant memory from when they were first getting to know each other. “This feels like high school.” Silence. She was so caught up in the circumstances that she had only just realised that his face was an inch away from hers. His blue eyes glowed in the dimly lit closet as he watched her innocent demeanour falter beneath him. “Are you mad?” he cocked his brow at her question.
“You’d probably like that, huh?” he said calmly, slender fingers on her chin, tilting her face up as if to meet his lips. Her lips tried to connect with his but he directed his lips to her jaw, kissing lightly. She wasn’t sure what to do but she already feeling weak in the knees. “Where’d this come from, hmm?” She turned her face away. His fingers turned her face back to his. A small smirk dancing on his lips.   “I don’t know what you mean.”   “Oh?” He said, pulling away, standing up straight and fixing his shirt. “I guess I misread your intentions.” Marc’s hand met the cool metal of the door knob, swiftly opening it an inch or so before she piped up again.   “Okay, okay. I…” she started, a hand on his arm, pulling him back to her. The light from the hall seeped into the closet and shone behind him as he faced her. “I don’t feel bad. It’s your fault for ignoring me.”
She expected him to continue badgering her about it, to have some witty frustrating retort. But instead his hand pulled the door shut again and before she could really process it, he was on her again, this time spending less time with the slow teasing, decided he’s wound her up enough. His lips peppered feverish kisses along her neck, one arm wrapped around her waist, pulling her plush to him. His cologne smelt fresh and familiar. Having him so close was just what she’d wanted. Her lips were magnetic and the lips that were just on her neck quickly pulled back to her lips, moving together. Her teeth tugged at his lower lip and his tongue slipped into her mouth, dipping in for a taste and meeting her tongue. Their tongues brushing against each other as they twisted their necks, they moved together eagerly. Her hands snaked to rest on his shoulders as his rested on her hips, no apprehension when moving to grip her ass. Her dress was short enough for him to gradually get a hand beneath it, hand gliding along her soft skin. She smiled against his lips, more pleased than just compliant.
“Is this what you were looking for?” His words were breathed out softly against her ear, in a moment finally letting her catch her breath. She caught his line of sight and shifted her eyes up, as if thinking about her answer.   “Kind of, but I’m thinking we should find somewhere a little more comfortable that I can find exactly what I was looking for.” She murmured. He was a step ahead, already leading her out of the town hall and to his car.

A/N: So I wrote a little thing for Changeling by @steamberrystudio because I just enjoyed it so much. I fear it’s slightly out of character for the snarky blond vampire but I don’t know... Anyway! It’s also on AO3 here.

Title: No Harm to the World
Summary: When Aziraphale's birthday comes around he expects a book from Anathema. Perhaps a bottle of wine. Or even some nice socks. He does not expect a series of ballroom lessons with London's rudest instructor.
Fandom: Good Omens
Words: 4,461
Warnings: None
Pairings: Aziraphale/Crowley
Author’s Notes: "Let us read, and let us dance — these two amusements will never do any harm to the world" - Voltaire
Written for Cademon who doesn't actually know me, but managed to chuck out a prompt I just couldn't resist: "Dance instructor/student AU with slow burn and slow dancing and kissing and bonus points for smutty goodness." I'm bad at writing kisses, even worse at smut, and I don't think 4k counts as a slow burn... but it's an instructor/student AU! Woot woot let's count that as a win.
Where to Read it: AO3 or below the cut
Anathema, he decided, was going to hell.
Certainly there was no other option for the poor girl. Sad, but true. What else could Aziraphale assume given the sin she’d committed?
“It’s not right,” he told the server, a young woman with pink hair and an expression bordering on awed. “You don’t just give someone that sort of gift. It’s not a gift at all! Gifts are books, my dear. Or an excellent bottle of wine. Perhaps a decent pair of socks if we’re getting intimate. But to foster off something with such requirements attached to it, particularly on someone who is and should be treated as a loved one... it doesn’t bear thinking about. I cannot possibly express my disappointment in her.”
“Really? ‘Cause you’ve been doing well so far.” The server pointed at Aziraphale’s empty plate. “You want another slice or what?”
“Oh. Yes. Thank you. Now see, cake. That is an excellent gift.”
“Uh huh.”
With those words of wisdom she left Aziraphale to his thoughts, his still growling stomach, and the letter he’d propped up against the salt and pepper shakers. Lesley had delivered it this morning, no doubt because Anathema was too craven to give it to him herself. At first Aziraphale had been rather touched by the gesture, sure that she was embracing his love of sophistication—not archaism, thank you—on the day of his birth, foregoing all that horrible, digital nonsense to send him a proper letter instead. How inspired! Ha. More fool him. What Aziraphale found was not the opera ticket he’d expected, or a monthly wine subscription, or even just a personal account of all that he meant to her...
No. Fifty years old and she got him dancing lessons. A month long, twice a week, fully paid for trap that Aziraphale either needed to suffer through or risk offense, to both her and the instructor. Someone who, Anathema had made quite clear, was already expecting him. Tonight. On his birthday. Had he mentioned that yet?
Outside of her instructions the rest of the so-called letter was a single line written in viscous, glittery pen:
You need to get out more ;)
Love,
Anathema
“Poppycock,” Aziraphale muttered. “Oh. Pardon my language.” His server gave a snort as she laid down the second slice of strawberry shortcake. She skipped off before he could start another rant, though Aziraphale was happy enough to continue glaring at his ‘gift.’
Get out more? What rubbish. Aziraphale certainly didn’t need to pepper his time with dance lessons, of all things. He lived a perfectly healthy, happy life and didn't need a woman half his age saying otherwise. Why were they friends again? He hardly knew.
Aziraphale stabbed his fork straight through the slice. Not even buttery cake and macerated strawberries could cheer him though. The letter remained in view, taunting him.
As did the knowledge that he was expected at this studio come 7:00pm sharp. He, Aziraphale, was meant to spend a full hour in an organization titled Dancing With the Devil.
It was with a sigh that he slipped whipped cream past his lips and raised his hand. “Miss! I do believe I’ll be needing a third slice.”
***
Six and a half hours later found Aziraphale outside an apartment complex, the top of which clearly housed the studio in question. If that absurd name didn’t give it away—displayed in red, looping letters against the old stonework—then the music thrumming all the way down to the sidewalk would have done the trick. Aziraphale might have thought the place a disreputable club if not for the fact that the music was Sinatra.
...Not entirely horrible then. Not quite.
“Though by no means a redemption either,” he muttered, waiting for the elevator. As he did, Aziraphale took a moment to examine himself in the reflective surface, rather pleased with his choice of outfit. He’d gone with a blue vest tonight, a periwinkle that matched his bow-tie perfectly, and brought a spot of color to the browns and beige he’d otherwise donned. He wasn’t entirely sure what one was meant to wear to a dancing lesson, but surely you couldn’t fault style? He looked quite spiffy, all things considered. Besides, Anathema’s horrid little note had specified ballroom lessons. Not the sort of thing that involved traipsing about on the ground or attempting anything as unnecessary as a jump. And if it did? Aziraphale would leave. Simple as that.
“Quite,” he told his reflection and stepped inside.
The music grew louder as Aziraphale ascended, until he could feel the vibrations through the soles of his shoes. When the elevator opened on dim lights and smiling people, he was momentarily taken aback.
Some day, when I'm awfully low
When the world is cold
I will feel a glow just thinking of you
And the way you look tonight
They must have just started this song because people were still coming together, men and women alike extending hands to partners, walking side-by-side to the outskirts of the room. To be entirely honest, most of those smiles seemed to stem from embarrassment. Aziraphale watched the couples—perhaps six of seven in total—fumble arms for a moment or come dangerously close to stepping on toes. A few individuals were so intensely focused on their feet he didn’t think they’d react if the whole studio came crashing down around their ears. None of it was very... good, per se. Aziraphale had seen just enough old films to know that the awkward gaits and simple steps he was witnessing weren’t much to write home about. But the attempts were charming in their own way and he was all too aware that it was more than he was able to do.
Suddenly, Aziraphale felt rather out of place.
The exception to stiff movements and lowered heads was the man who cut through the middle of the floor, the only one without a partner. He wore slacks, but short heels that appeared to be dance-specific; a collared shirt, but with red hair that fell down past his shoulders. Perhaps the most notable accessory though was a pair of dark glasses perched on his nose, entirely unnecessary in this lighting and thus looking rather absurd. No doubt he thought himself one of those cool men who could never pass the age of twenty-five. Aziraphale didn’t need any official introduction to know that he was the instructor though. The way he moved said it all.
Like liquid. Like grace incarnate. He put more hip action into walking than Aziraphale could ever manage in a Salsa and it was, to be frank, bordering on obscene.
The man was also heading his way.
“You must be Zira!” he called, loud enough to turn every head. Aziraphale shrunk, his hiding spot obliterated. “Beginner’s class? 7:00? You’re late. Can’t have that. First day here and you’re already slacking? You’d think a guy dressed like you would want to make a better first impression.” The man grinned.
Of all the—!
“It’s Aziraphale,” he hissed, the first and most important thing to tumble out of his mouth. “I don’t do that nickname nonsense. And I’m not late. I’m not slacking! I’m not—oh. Well I suppose I am here for the beginner’s class. But that’s the only thing you got right and one out of four is nothing to be proud of.”
He could feel the heat in his cheeks and the arrogant, downward turn to his mouth. Aziraphale had been told on more than one occassion that this was why he so rarely got customers (not that he particularly wanted them...) and why he had so few, close friends. Thus it was more than a bit surprising to find that his default state didn’t immediately get him chucked out of the class. What a pity. Rather, the man seemed to enjoy his ire. He continued grinning, quite manically, finally throwing out a hand with purple, painted nails.
“Name’s Anthony Crowley, but everyone here just calls me Crowley. I am about the nickname nonsense. Sort of, anyway. Let’s see...” Crowley’s fingers tapped the top of Aziraphale’s hand, sending a jolt all the way up through his arm. “I own this studio. Own the flats downstairs too. Guess that doesn’t make me much of a slacker, but I enjoy a good TV binge every now and then. And you’re right.”
“Right?” Aziraphale parroted.
“You’re not late. Fifteen minutes early, in fact. This lot,” he jerked his head at the dancers. “Have just been with me before. Know to leave time to warm up.”
Crowley finally released his hand and Aziraphale immediately plastered it against his thigh, trying and failing to be inconspicuous about wiping the sweat away. Crowley eyed the movement, lips twitching. “Well. You’re gonna be rubbish at this if one handshake gets you all nervous.”
Aziraphale gaped. “How rude!”
“Anathema said you’d be a handful.”
For a moment surprise warred with offense. The surprise won. “You know Anathema?” He’d been under the impression that this little ‘gift’ had no further strings attached. How foolish of him.
“Sure!” Crowley waved a hand. “We’re old girlfriends. She talks about you some. I’ve been telling her to get you in here for ages. Never said how you two know each other though.”
Aziraphale drew himself up. “Anathema is a frequent visitor to my shop. Over the years I’ve been able to procure a number of rare books for her. Our love of literature all but ensured that we would be fast friends.”
“Huh. Cool. I hit her with my car a few years back. Anyway, c’mon!”
Aziraphale was left, open-mouthed, grappling with the image of an Anathema three years ago with bruised face and a broken arm. Apparently Crowley wasn’t one for explanations though, as he was already striding back across the room, clearly expecting Aziraphale to follow. Obeying such a high-handed command was a horrible thought.
...standing there awkwardly was worse.
“Excuse me, pardon me, ah...no, no, go on as you were!” Despite their slow movements and few numbers, getting past the dancers was a surprisingly difficult task, those capable of dancing and looking up simultaneously casting him amused smiles. By the time Aziraphale reached Crowley—now standing beside a row of chairs on the outskirts of the room—he could feel the heat in his cheeks and the slight dampness beginning to consolidate beneath his shirt. Hardly his fault. It was so dreadfully hot in here.
Crowley eyed him up and down once more, that smirk too knowing for Aziraphale’s tastes. With a huff he straightened his bow-tie with one hand and thrust out the folder he’d been carrying with the other.
“I've done research,” he announced. “Quite extensive. Not to speak too highly of my own abilities, but it’s rather a talent of mine and one that I put a great deal of stock in. Thus, after much deliberation I have decided that if I am to learn any formal dance is should be the gavotte.”
Seconds ticked by. Aziraphale shook the folder in the air between them. Crowley failed to take it.
“I’ve done research,” he repeated, just in case that first part hadn’t been clear.
“You’ve really got no idea how this all works, do you?” Crowley asked. To Aziraphale’s great relief he finally took the gathered materials—
—only to toss it all right over his shoulder.
“How dare you!”
“Jeez, you’re a sensitive one. How dare you this, how rude that. We’ve got to loosen you up a bit first. Everyone, watch your floorcraft!”
The students behind them dutifully maneuvered around the now scattered collection of papers, a few giving audible laughs at the turn of events. Aizraphale felt that blush creeping down his neck and instinctively bent to gather them up.
Crowley intercepted, taking him into his arms.
He might have struggled. Perhaps he should have, the shock of someone touching him in such a manner without permission just the sort of thing Aziraphale normally would have riled against. But when Crowley dipped his glasses also slipped, and for a moment (a moment was all Crowley needed) Aziraphale was left breathless and rather easily swayed.
It was his eyes. They were...well, quite stunning. If he was entirely frank. A brown that appeared almost gold in the right light, but more distinctive were the pupils that bled downwards into his iris, creating a surprisingly oval shape. The effect was akin to a keyhole. Or, if one were being fanciful, something not quite human.
Crowley, of course, noticed him staring. His grin was slow. Like he had to pull it into being one muscle at a time. “Coloboma,” he said, the word sharp and quick. “I was lucky enough to get it in both eyes.” Crowley briefly removed his hand from Aziraphale’s to push the glasses more firmly onto his nose. Then they came back together, the movement almost unnoticed. Aziraphale was still peering closely.
“Is that why you wear those?” he asked. “Even inside? In this lighting?”
“Mm-hmm. Tends to freak people out. Sometimes. Enough times. Need to get used to it first.” Crowley’s head titled to the side, red curls falling between them. “Does it bother you?”
Aziraphale was aware that he owed this man precisely nothing. Certainly not honesty for the sake of honesty. And yet, he found it slipping out nonetheless. “Not at all, dear boy. In fact, I think your eyes are quite beautiful. Rather like a snake’s.”
As soon as the words hit the air Aziraphale stumbled, the compliment his mouth had seen fit to give suddenly catching up with his brain. Crowley went rigid too, though because of the “beautiful” or the “snake” part Aziraphale couldn’t be sure. Because a second later he murmured,
“People normally say 'cat.'” His voice was rough and rather...shaky?
“...Ah. Of Course. Logical.”
"Yeah."
Well. That had gone swimmingly! Yes, old boy, insult and act inappropriately with your instructor five minutes into the lesson. What a positively perfect way to begin a month-long course. Not that Aziraphale cared if Crowley decided to cut him. Not at all. Hadn’t wanted to be here in the first place.
Funny thing though, it was a lesson and not a bad one at that. All at once and without Aziraphale’s knowledge they'd fallen into their respective roles. While they’d been speaking, Crowley had taken the hand he’d snagged and the underside of Aziraphale’s shoulder blade, just sort of... steering them around the room. They weren’t doing any of the fancy footwork that the rest of the group was immersed in. Just a little shuffle there and back, like one might see during a slow dance at senior prom. Yet it was steady, and soothing, and all at once Aziraphale was hyper-aware of exactly how close they’d gotten. He tried to ignore the smell of Crowley’s cologne—delightfully spicy. He’d have to ask his barber for something similar—and how soft his hand was, palm pressed to palm and fingers cupping fingers. His brief faux pas was quickly forgotten. When Crowley seemed content to simply sway and hum along to the music for some undetermined amount of time, Aziraphale finally cleared his throat.
“What, if I am ask, are we doing?”
Crowley blinked. “Dancing.”
“I would hardly term this dancing.”
“Well that’s because you’re the ignorant student and I’m the former Blackpool competitor.” He spoke right over the protest. “What’s the best kind of learning? The kind that doesn’t feel like learning. Duh. Look at you go. Walking backwards like a champ.” Crowley suddenly stopped, Aziraphale stopped too, and somehow his gaze seemed more shrewd, even behind the glasses. “Why?"
“Why? Why what?” Aziraphale tried valiantly to regain his balance.
“Why did you stop?”
“Because you stopped.”
“No, no, no, stupid answer. What bearing does me stopping have on you stopping? You could have just kept going, straight out the door! Anathema said you were smart. Where’s that now? One more time...” They started moving again, parallel to the line of chairs, and this time when Crowley stopped—
He hummed in the back of his throat, catching Aziraphale’s expression.
It was hard to explain though. The fact that he was literally connected to another person obviously played its part, but there was more to it than that, what Aziraphale suspected his teacher was trying to convey. Something about how the hand at his back had pressed suddenly, becoming a barrier he didn't want to push past. The hand in his had tightened, almost pulling in the opposite direction. Something else about the feeling of Crowley’s body so near to his, subconsciously picking up on the change in his weight...
Aziraphale wasn’t sure how to articulate any of that though. What came out was a disgruntled noise that made Crowley laugh.
“Connection,” he said, clearly taking pity on him. “You know where and how far I want you to go because of how closely connected our bodies are. From here,” he shifted them to the right. “To there.” Back to the left. “The slightest touch, just a little, tiny press—” Aziraphale suddenly knew that he was to take a step backwards and when he did Crowley’s smile was magnificent. “It can accomplish a shit ton.”
Aziraphale snorted. “Is that a technical term? 'Shit ton'?”
“Oh yeah.” Crowley suddenly grew serious. “But if you don’t have that connection...” His arms went limp, his chest pulled back, and Aziraphale hadn’t the slightest clue where he was meant to go now. When Crowley suddenly stepped backward he was scrambling to catch up. “See? All falls apart. It’s about balance. Push and pull. Like you’re standing on the edge of a knife and the both of you have to maintain perfect position so that neither of you falls...You manage that and you can manage just about anything.”
"A relationship," Aziraphale said, his mouth once again running away with him. No reprimand came though. Just a quick squeeze of his hand that felt like praise.
Crowley had taken him in his arms again—what he referred to as the frame a few moments later—and with the careless delivery of someone commenting on the weather, told Aziraphale to step back, back again, and then side together, off to his right. No, not quite that fast. Yes, that’s better. A slow, a slow, quick-quick pattern. Again and again until Aziraphale realized, with no small amount of shock, that they were mimicking the other couples around the dance floor.
“See?” Crowley said. There was only a bit of smugness seeping into his voice. Already Aziraphale counted that as a win. “You’re a natural.”
He thought of long-ago gym classes and his brother Gabriel’s attempts to take him jogging. “You’d be the first to think so.”
“Or I’m just that good a teacher. Hmm. Might be leaning towards that one. But the fact that you can take two steps without panicking or tripping over your own feet is a major plus.” Crowley leaned in close, sharing a conspiratorial whisper. “Most of this lot still don’t know their right from their left.”
It should have been cruel coming from their instructor, but Aziraphale had the distinct sense that Crowley meant it in only the most loving way possible. A chuckle wound its way up his throat because yes, what just fifteen minutes before had seemed so out of reach now appeared... quite simple really. Whatever had he been worried about? Across the ballroom some poor chap was nearly trampling another—who astoundingly managed to keep a polite smile in place—while two women behind them were taking each step with an agonizing slowness that had thrown them off beat. Aziraphale had never considered himself to be terribly adventurous, never quick to embrace any change, but even that was a bit slow for this tastes.
With Crowley, the room spun at perfect speed.
“It’s all that stuffiness,” he was saying, oblivious to Aziraphale’s thoughts. “You’re all,” and Crowley drew his shoulders up to his ears, miming someone overly stiff with a pursed lips and squinty eyes. The display fell apart with a laugh at whatever expression Aziraphale pulled. “Nah, nah, it’s good. Gonna have a devil of a time with you in the Latin styles, but smooth? Easy peasy, lemon squeezy.”
“I like lemons,” Aziraphale commented, unsure how else to respond in the face of more unexpected praise.
“Please don’t tell me you just... eat them.”
“What? No! I mean lemonade. Or squeezed over veal with capers.”
“Okay good because I once knew this guy who’d just fucking peel them—”
So it went, with Crowley rambling on about, apparently, whatever popped into his head each moment, all while leading Aziraphale round and round the room with an ease that spoke of years of practice. He was far less graceful, stumbling now and again, but largely able to move and hold a conversation simultaneously, which was far more than Aziraphale would have assumed himself capable of, especially after such a short period of time. In fact, with Crowley’s arms a warm press and those absurd opinions filling his ears, it was all almost a bit... fun.
Damn it all. Anathema could never find out.
The song—another of Sinatra’s—finally drew to a close and with it the lights rose, shaking the group out of their daze. People put distance between their partners, thanking one another, laughing over perceived faults, and Aziraphale felt a pang when Crowley moved to do the same.
That is, until he ducked into a low bow, brushing a kiss against the back of Aziraphale’s hand.
“Thank you for the dance,” he said, tone overly formal, eyes alight with mischief. Aziraphale might have called him out on the contradiction if his thoughts were even in the vicinity of coherent.
Oh dear.
Crowley left. Or rather, rejoined the rest of his class. Which honestly felt to be much the same thing. Aziraphale had to tramp down on the absurd burst of jealousy that flared when Crowley briefly took another man into his arms, leading him through a slightly longer, more complicated step. Thankfully though that stint of madness was brief. With a self-conscious cough Aziraphale smoothed down his vest and joined the others in front of the mirrors. They were all lining up, seemingly expectant, and all at once Aziraphale was the odd man out again. Unsure of where to stand; overly dressed next to the others' jeans and t-shirts.
Then Crowley paced before the lineup and tilted his head just so, allowing the light to reflect through his glasses. Aziraphale could have sworn he dropped him a wink.
“Welcome! Excellent warm-up, all of you. Though I could have done without so many feet watchers.” A few titters flowed through the group. “Seriously, are your shoes really that interesting? Because if they are I want to know where you got ‘em. Drop me a brand name after class. All right, all right. Enough of that. Good to have you all back. Good to see some new faces too. This is Bronze One, Smooth Dancers for Beginners, and today we’ll be learning the Foxtrot... though I’ve already gotten the sense that you lot won’t be beginners for long.”
His gaze was definitely on Aziraphale and he burned for just a moment, caught. As Crowley began his lesson, Aziraphale straightened his bow-tie one more—just for luck—and vowed that such a complimentary statement would not be said in vain.
A minute later, as Crowley helped him partner up with a lovely young woman looking similarly unsure, Aziraphale quite forgot that he’d never wanted to be here in the first place.
***
July, one year later.
“Honestly, I don’t know what that girl is thinking! It’s an insult, my dear. Plain and simple. I hope as you grow you’ll develop better manners than my supposed friend has.”
“I’m thirty-five, sir.”
Aziraphale sat in the same café, at the same table, with the same waitress listening to him rant about the misuse of birthday presents. The only true changes were that he’d since learned her name was Amber and Amber now sported green hair instead of pink (with blue and orange somewhere between the two).
This was old hat by now. “Two slices of the key lime pie then?”
“Three.”
“Three?"
Aziraphale’s lips twitched. Amber only just caught it. “Relax, dear. I’m not quite as stressed as that.” The ‘Not yet’ was muttered into his water glass. “I’m merely expecting company.”
Which was the cue for the door across from them to open, Crowley sauntering in with sundress and hat, heels and $200 shades. Amber huffed out a laugh, allowing her hand to briefly clasp Aziraphale’s shoulder.
“Three slices it is then,” and she wandered off.
Crowley took her place.
“Angel.”
Aziraphale scowled. “I’ve told you not to call me that.”
“Hey, if the shoe fits... speaking of,” Crowley slouched in his chair and stuck one long leg out from beneath the table, showing off his yellow, strappy heels. “You like?”
“Your continued obsession with footwear that now eats a hole in our joint bank account? Never.” But Aziraphale nevertheless eyed the new addition with admiration. “Can you dance in those?”
“Nah. Not enough traction. You’re due for a new pair though. Can’t go competing in those worn-out practice shoes.”
The mere thought of his first competition nearly undid Aziraphale’s appetite, but for now at least anger overrode the fear. “I was under the impression that Anathema was buying some for my birthday!”
Crowley blinked. “She’s not? It’s what she told me she was getting you.”
"Oh no, no, no. I received a package this morning that was most certainly not shoes..."
As Aziraphale leaned across the table, nearly upending water and silverware in his haste to share the news, Amber returned with three plates of pie and some complimentary mints. She arrived just in time to see Aziraphale whisper something into his partner’s ear that turned his cheeks roughly the same shade as his hair. The grin though... there was nothing self-conscious in that.
“That sly girl,” she heard, aiming to remain professional even in the face of Aziraphale’s angry huff. “Can’t say I’m surprised. When was the last time she gave you the present you were expecting?”
“I am this close to murdering her, Crowley.”
“Sure you are.” Amber’s last glimpse was of the two of them tucked together, sunlight streaming across the table, heads bent so close in conversation they nearly touched. Crowley took a bite of the pie as Aziraphale quite obviously watched his lips.
“I'm sure we'll figure out some use for her generosity." The sarcasm was apparent, even from across the room. As was Crowley's amusement.
"Besides, I’d say her last gift turned out just fine.”
Fin.
***
Important note: The most AU aspect of all this is that both of these bastards can actually dance
Less important note: You decide what Anathema got Aziraphale for his bday ;)

Town of Phoenix Concet
A new series I’ll be writing soon.
<Town of the Phoenix>
In the country of Easifa (storm), there’s a tale of a peaceful town that worshipped a fire bird as their goddess. Thanks to their worship, the goddess bestowed the power of flames upon their bloodline. The elder of this town knew that the royal families would not approve of this revelation and implored his citizens to keep it a secret. But the younger generation disagreed, it’s not like they were doing anything wrong with these powers. They could protect Easifa from foreign threats. The elder was right and the royal families were afraid of these powers. The country was a place of mysticism but never have they ever been able to use the powers of a goddess. What if one of these citizen defect and an enemy country obtains these powers?
The royal families sent thousands upon thousands of soldiers to this city to slaughter all of its residents. The goddess, distraught by the death of her followers blamed herself for bestowing them these powers, went into a state of depression and disappeared. The royal families proclaimed that should any survive resident of this town be discovered, they will be labeled children of evil and slaughtered.
300 years later and easifa is now a country with immense wealth and riches but looks to make up for their sins of the past. Unfortunately they are plagued by Creatures such as jinn (ghosts) and Raeb (blood suckers). A young farm hand named Cain discovers that he can summon the Phoenix Goddess Fire. Cain becoming curious about his past starts looking for answers when a near death experience causes him to meet the goddess herself Homura. She asks him to find her destroyed home and return her spirit to her temple. After some reluctance, he accepts. He journeys throughout Easifa with his Best friend and jinn hunter in training Dalia (A charming girl with a hidden bloodlust), her tiger cub pet Amyr and a man who says he collects souls named Mahaz. His powers capture the attention of the Militia. Who send two of his old friends, Lt. Rekka and his younger sister Rubina… (the also have a pet lemur named Sparx) who are determined to figure out of their old friend is a danger or a hero to Easifa that they were looking for. Some say she is more ruthless than Lucian, desmating any woman who looks at him lustfully. Ramona is also protective of her son who she deems will be a greater king then her husband. Ramona is beautiful, curvaceous and thanks to having a mix of succubus and raeb blood, youthful looking. She has long purple hair that reaches her calves; a bang always covers her left eye (which are both dark blue). Her fangs are smaller than most. She wears a long black dress with red on the end and white flowers covering the dress. Black heels as well.
Magic Focus: Arousal/Blood
Stefan Alexander - prince of the Raebs, he is half raeb and half incubus. Stefan can’t wait to be king. He’s brash, arrogant, a playboy and smart. Even though he has so much respect for his parents, he is aware that soon they will have to settle down or die in battle. Stefan always is at the front lines looking for a fight. Much like his parents, he is easily bored. His solution is to go out to the human world, have some fun and cause destruction. Some feel that half raeb should not be king, he always changes that person's mind by leaving them close to deaths door. He has short black hair and purple highlights, two red eyes and small fangs like his mother. He wears a white medieval style dress shirt, black shoes and black pants. He has a sword similar to his father but also has a scimitar with a broken blade which he uses to toy with weaker opponents.

Jinn normally have no ruler and tend to run on instinct, but roswald can manipulate them, making him a huge asset to Lucian. No one is sure if he’s a jinn himself, raeb, or even human. While he is an ally to Lucian, he prefers to be called a subordinate. Never taking credit for large scale plans. Roswald is a master of disguise and violent jokester. Always looking to see if anyone can handle his madness. He is a skinny man with messy green hair and yellow eyes. He has clown makeup, white painted face, red x’s across his eyes and a red lines along his mouth that make it look stitched up. He wears candy cane looking pants, white with red stripes. Magician shoes. White shirt, blue vest and red jacket. He also carries Bayard model hand gun on him.
Magic Focus: Transfer/Luck/Study Eye
Dizarah - She is the last of the Mayit. Once a slave to the Mayit king, She is now Lucians vanguard captain. She is entrusted with protecting the prince much to her dismay as he tends to prefer to wander alone. Dizarah enjoys killing humans because they were the ones who created and became the Mayit. Her own people who tortured her before Lucian saved her. She is tall but skinny girl with short black hair and red eyes. 90 percent of her body is wrapped in bandages, including her face, leveling only her hair, eyes and mouth free. The bandages tend to hang off her body and can extend and be controlled by her. She doesn’t wear anything over her bandages at the top but wears a blue ripped skirt and black boots.
Magic Focus: Undead/Repulsion
Xavier Scalebound - the lizard man and leader of Lucian’s Sahalia (lizard people) army. They are the most defensive specialist species in all of Easifa. Lucian recruited there people who were being oppressed by the Mayit and fed to Jinn. Xavier is cunning milterist. He almost never has to jump into battle as his planning and strategies of his army overwhelm his opponents. Xavier personally trained Dizarah in combat and oversees the protection of Prince Stefan. His body is covered in red scales. His stomach has some missing in an x shape which is said to be a scar that Stefan gave him. He has wild red hair flowing from his head and messy short black cloth pants. His weapons of choice are a battle axe, mace and curved scimitar.

Depressed passing guide
I see a lot of passing guides around, and they’re great, but they usually assume you have 100% of your energy to put into passing. For those of us who have like 24 other mental illnesses that make gender dysphoria take the backseat, that’s not always realistic. So here’s some shit I’ve noticed can help you pass that doesn’t take much effort. I’m pre-t FTM so most of these tips will mainly be applicable if you are too.  Ps, you’re not required to pass in order to be “”valid””. Most of us want to and it can be important to stay safe, but remember you’re doing this for you, not the rest of the world.  General : Most pre-t guys will naturally look closest to 12-15 years old if they do pass. I know most of us hate not being treated our age but embracing this will make passing 100x easier. Match your mannerisms to those of teenage boys, and when looking for clothes/hairstyles try to match your perceived age rather than your actual age.  Clothing:  General rule for all clothes: don’t underestimate the kids’ section, and shop online if you can’t find your size. If both of those fail you, you can try to order internationally. Asian men have much smaller frames so clothes from China work great, just be careful not to order from dodgy sites. Tailors are also a good option if you can afford them.  Never get your jeans in the women’s section. They’ll be cut to accentuate your hips 99% of the time. If you can find men’s or boys’ jeans that fit your hips, straight leg is best. If you can’t, don’t sweat it you have other options.
Sweatpants/joggers are great. They’ll go past your hips without issue because of the elastic, and if you don’t already pass nobody will look at you weird for going into the mens section to buy what’s widely recognised as very fucking comfortable clothing. Get a pair that’s looser on top and tighter on the bottom if you can, it keeps you from looking like a total slob. Stick to dark colours as they’ll slim down your hips.  For t-shirts, get something slim fit/athletic fit, and get it as close to your size as possible. Aside from your chest, your arms are the most obvious sign you’re not cis on your upper half. Getting shirts with tighter arm holes will give the illusion that you’re muscly, or at least not a total string bean. Once again, stick to dark colours. Large colour differences between your top and bottom half will draw a line across your body, making you look shorter. Graphic tees are a hit or miss. They can help conceal your chest and they fit the teenage boy look, but since they’re unisex they could end up making you look like a tomboy.    Avoid flannel, it’s associated with butch lesbians and could make people think you are one too.
Hoodies are a lifesaver. They’re easy to layer with (especially the zip-up kind) which will help conceal your chest. Rolling up the sleeves to your elbows makes them hug your arms tightly, making them look more muscular. Putting up the hood will make you look masculine, or at least hide feminine features somewhat. If you’re too small for men’s jackets, layering a zip-up hoodie with a (faux) leather jacket will look masculine and mimic the style a lot of men’s jackets have.  Binding:
First of all, if you’re going to bind, be as safe as possible (there’s always risks, keep that in mind). 8 hours a day MAXIMUM (and maximum does not mean that that’s an allowance you need to use up every day), take it off as often as possible, and don’t ever sleep or exercise in your binder. Listen to your body, take a break when it hurts. Don’t bind with ace bandages or tape, just generally avoid homemade binders. And for the love of god, don’t get a cheap amazon/aliexpress/wish/ebay binder. If you bind unsafely, you can break your ribs, permanently deform your rib cage/collarbones, damage your soft tissues (which seriously reduces your chances of getting good top surgery results), permanently reduce your lung capacity, and just generally damage your body so much that you will never be able to bind again. Don’t be stupid.  Gc2b and underworks are the most popular and safest binder brands. Generally speaking, gc2b is better for smaller chests and underworks is better for larger chests.  There are two main styles of binders, tri-top and full tank. Tri-top does everything you need, full tank binders just add more (non-compressive) fabric to the bottom. Tri-top tends to be more comfortable as there’s no extra fabric to bunch up, but if you want your binder to be subtle if you have to change in front of people/are wearing a tight shirt, getting something that looks like a tank top is your best bet.  Gc2b binders are available in a range of colours, while underworks offers black, white and beige binders. I decided to get a binder that matched my skin colour since I could only afford one and I didn’t want it to show through any clothing. I HIGHLY regret it. Cis men do not wear skin coloured garments under their shirts. If your collar slips up in the slightest, there’s an obvious sign that you’re trans. Cis men DO wear undershirts though, so get a binder that’s the same colour as an undershirt (usually white but black works too).  Some trans men use kt tape to bind, and transtape is a product made specifically to improve upon kt tape binding. Mind you, putting tape on your skin is very fucking bad for it and you will likely get blisters, as well as risk losing skin elasticity (something that’s important to retain if you want top surgery). Only do this as a last resort if you’re in a situation where regular binders are even more unsafe or would out you, such as while traveling. Look up how to apply it properly first and remove it VERY carefully.  Hair: If you want long hair that’s your choice, and some trans men do pass with long hair. But keep in mind even square-jawed cis men will get misgendered from the back if they have long hair. If you’re not okay with regularly getting she’d, keep it short until you’re on t for a while.
If you have yet to get your hair cut short, a barber may refuse to cut you. Some of them really do only work with men/boys and if you don’t pass, you’ll be turned away. Just go to a unisex salon, if you don’t want to out yourself then find a picture of a woman with a masculine haircut. Show them that, then get them to make it even more masculine (ask for your sideburns or “the bits on the side” squared, it makes a world of difference). You’ll be able to go to a barber for your next haircut after that.  Resist the urge to get a buzzcut. It’s very low maintenance but it makes your face shape extremely apparent, you will look feminine.  Get your hair as short as you can stand on the sides and leave some length on top. If you get the sides really short, you should only have to brave your social anxiety every two months orso to get a new cut. Style the top upwards with some product (wax, gel, whatever). Your face will look less round if you do this.  To avoid talking to your barber and possibly outing yourself, just find a picture of the haircut you want and show it to them. I’ve found barbers are far less chatty than people at unisex salons so you’ll probably be okay just not speaking.  Wash your hair as little as possible. Don’t let it get greasy, but allow it to build up some texture. Cis men’s hair is a lot rougher and less silky than cis women’s, so you want to mimic that. Throw your conditioner in the trash.  For body hair, leave it alone as much as possible. Don’t touch your eyebrows, either. Let them get bushy, don’t pluck any stray hairs. You can fill in your eyebrows to make them look thicker but I’d recommend against using makeup in any form as a trans man, it’s hard to make it look subtle and people will instantly think you’re a woman if they notice you’re wearing it.  You can shave your face if you want to, but it’s honestly a waste of time. Your skin will look softer without the peach fuzz, which is the opposite of what you want to achieve. Hair doesn’t grow back thicker after you shave it, so don’t bother doing it for that reason. Body composition: Dysphoria TW for mention of biological sex.  A lot of guides make a major point of this. Work out 5 days a week, eat as little as possible, get your body fat percentage down. One of the most popular guides there is for FTMs even suggests you get down below 20% body fat, acknowledging that that’d be an unacceptable advice for cis women but going on to say it’s okay because we aren’t cis women.  My advice on this is to do your best to shut THAT advice out. Our bodies are (unfortunately) female, they play by female rules. The notion that we can (and should!) starve and exercise our way into a male body is harmful and wrong. Having a female looking body isn’t a personal failure or a sign that you’re not working hard enough, it’s an unavoidable consequence of BEING physically female.  Building muscle helps. Lower bodyfat helps. If you’re overweight and can manage to go on a diet, go for it. If you can start working out, go for it! Just don’t sweat it if you can’t for whatever reason. I promise it’s still possible to pass.  Mannerisms
Sit with your legs open. Manspread a little. You want to be sitting in a way that would get old ladies tutting if a lady in a dress did it, but don’t go so far that you’re doing the splits.  If you want to cross your legs, do it with your ankle on your leg. Crossing your legs too tightly will crush the dick you want people to think you have.  Walk with your legs slightly apart, and try not to sway your hips. Visualise having something between your legs that you’re trying not to crush (because cis men do).  Put your hands in your pockets as much as possible. Standing with your hands in your pockets basically draws a straight line down your body, minimising the appearance of your hips. It also makes you look like a bored teenager so it’s perfect.  Don’t smile too much, especially not in pictures. If you do smile, smirk. Try to look cocky.  Cis men have stronger brow bones and eyebrows closer to their eyes. You can mimic this by frowning mildly.  There are tons of voice training techniques you can look up to get your voice to go deeper, but to be honest it’s a lot of effort. You need to actually put force behind your voice to get it to come from your chest, and god knows I’m too depressed to do that 90% of the time. I’m fond of the “never fucking speak to anyone” technique and it works out just fine.  Confidence is absolutely the most important part. If you’re showing that you’re sure of yourself and act like you being a man is the most natural, obvious thing ever, people are unlikely to doubt you. If they do doubt you, just laugh it off. Act like the notion of you being anything but male is ridiculous. I don’t even do all the things in this guide. I’m very short with wide hips and a very high pitched voice, but confidence is what consistently gets me to pass. If you’re not confident, fake it till you make it.  Feel free to add!

4 Must-Have Kurti Styles For Your Back-To-Office Wardrobe
If you are among those few who are heading back to the office but will miss the comfort of your blanket, a Kurti is perhaps a blessing in disguise for you.
There is nothing more comforting than a cotton Kurti on a hot summer day. To add to that, there are a plethora of new-age designers that have launched a wide range of different Kurti styles, making these an essential part of your work wardrobe, if the workplace allows.
Moreover, if cotton seems too casual, there are Kurtis available in other fabrics that are equally comfortable, and extra chic.
Whether you want to give your work wardrobe an upgrade or wish to add more ethnic statement pieces to it, we have just the right answer for you.
Also, if you are not ready to go out shopping for the styles we have mentioned below, you can always find Kurta sets online, in the colors and designs that you deem fit well with your personality. Check out the list of different styles that you can choose from below.
Long, straight Kurtis
A long Kurti is a classic, evergreen style that fits well with a formal environment. These Kurtis are suitable for every body type and can be styled in more ways than one.  You can pair straight Kurtis with straight formal pants, leggings, or even jeans if your work environment permits. Put on small earrings, simple rings, a wristwatch, and you are good to go.
Kaftan Kurtis
Kaftan Kurti is a recently launched indo-western statement piece. Indeed, at some point in time, Kaftans were considered to be indispensable beachwear. But thanks to the ethnic wear designers, this flowy, comfortable style is now available in the form of Kurtis. For those who wish to look their best whenever they step out, having a Kaftan Kurti in the wardrobe is perhaps a must. They are perfect for every occasion, whether it’s a casual brunch with friends or an important meeting with the clients at the office. Plain Kaftan Kurtis look rich and smart, helping you embrace your boss-side personality.
A-Line Kurtis
A-line Kurtis are for those ladies who wish to stick to more traditional workwear. It is best to choose an A-Line Kurti that goes beyond your knees and reaches just above your ankle.
The elegance that such Kurtis portray is simply unmatched. You can pair it with ankle-length leggings, juttis, and small earrings to complete the look for your workplace.
High Collared Kurtis
Collared shirts and tops are never looked down upon in a corporate environment. If you want to keep your attire in sync with the official norms but wish to add an ethnic twist to it, high collared Kurtis are just the perfect option for you.
You can wear it with a pair of cigarette pants, beige heels, and sleek earrings to finish the look. It will help you ensure you are maintaining the decorum while still outshining others in the crowd.
Conclusion
Most women like to dress up every time they head out and heading back to the office after months of remote working is no exception. The good news is that women don’t have to leave the comfort of their home behind as they step out and still look fabulous, all thanks to the several different styles of Kurtis that are now available, such as straight, Kaftan, or high-collared Kurtis.

Olivia was born in Menagerie and grew up in the White Fang with her parents, back when it was an organization of peace and equality between faunus and humans. Her parents were very active in the movement and did their best to give Olivia a reason to be proud of her heritage and believe in the cause, which she still fights for to this day. They also made sure to teach her to protect herself as they travelled to the kingdoms for their protests. At 13, they found out about the adoption and realized their family would never be able to give them what they wanted, resulting in them running away. As the eldest child, it's Kimi's responsibility to carry on the tradition and bring about the next generation of huntsmen for her family. She's spent her entire life with intense training from her parents and is expected to marry a suitor of their choosing, also from a strong line of huntsmen. Style Your Blazers Well With Cabana Catalogs
Blazers are not a novel concept; they have been in the market for years, uncountable. The only thing that is new here is that people never thought a blazer (formal attire) could be worn casually. Before we get on to providing you style tips, we need to know why do men love styling blazers so much? We suppose the answer to the same is simple. Blazers for men and women are ideal additions on almost any and every occasion–casual or formal. It’s fashion empowering, stylish, and suitable for an everyday look.
Tumblr media
In yesteryear, Blazers were solely styled by officials on formal occasions/ festivities. However, with time it has become a tremendous crush among the guys for parties, events, and weddings. No matter if it is the trend of yesteryear or modern year, we attest to blazers for the fact that there are innumerous ways to style them. And every way that we style these classic Jackets and Blazers, they will provide versatility. All you need to understand is when to team it and with which modern casual element.
Let’s see how to style these mod-year jackets. Oh, wait! We absolutely forgot to tell you some basic rules about the trend. Remember that whichever blazer you select must be well-fitted, of a perfect length, and must have been a color combination. Furthermore, it’s not a statement if not accessorized! So lay a full mind on selecting watches, shoes, and a hairstyle that will provide you an elegant look and also looks effortless at the same time.
To Learn More Such Rules Read: Know Your Blazers Well
Now there is no scope to delay, so without waiting up a moment, let’s jump into the styling segment. Blazers are common but styling them is what will distinguish you from the rest. Here are our recommendations for styling super chic blazer combinations.
Let’s Suit Up with a T-shirt
Our main motto here is to style blazers in casual fashion, and indeed a tie shirt combo will move us far away from our goal. So what should we wear to tone down our blazer and look absolutely chic? You guessed it right. Casual tees will come to the rescue here. It might sound super easy to pull that look; however, there are a few guidelines that you need to follow:
Keep it simple: The first rule of styling a t-shirt with a blazer is to stay away from all patterns and prints. The reason behind the same is straightforward, patterns and prints under structured blazers are OTT, and underneath an unstructured blazer, fashion impaired. So keep it clean and straightforward.
Stick to neutrals: Blazers are extensions of formal outfits, and making it casual doesn’t mean that you take away the essence it holds. So, to make formals turn into relaxed formals, style it with white t-shirts while going for a day out and inky blacks for the night.
Prevent bulkiness: The t-shirt you select must be slim and well fitted to ensure that it just doesn’t look bulky under your blazer.
Neckline: Go for a neckline that suits you. If you always wear t-shirts with V-necks, go for it. Otherwise, round necklines are ideally a go-to.
Length: Finally, the t-shirt should end just below the hip, with no longlines protruding beyond your jacket. Otherwise, tuck it inside your blazer.
Since the structured form (canvas and lined) looks a little OTT with the laid-back tee. So, go for an unstructured blazer with a t-shirt look. But what about your bottoms? Go for jeans, avoid trousers, with a dark wash and a slim fit (trouser-esque fit). Minimalist sneakers are a great street choice, as are suede loafers for a more sophisticated look.

To sum our first tip-up, we believe that you should go for an unstructured blazer with minimal colors and add sneakers to your look.
A Little Different
Perfect for relaxed Fridays and bright Saturdays, a smart blazer will be an ideal alternative to style on every occasion. These livelier blazer combinations will differ slightly depending on whether you’re about to embark on work or plays. But we suggest that you stick to an unstructured blazer in a tasteful check (plaid, light windowpane, or pinstripe) to stand out a bit, keeping in mind dress codes. Alternatively, skip the pattern and opt for texture: Choose a more rustic surface, such as pure navy linen with a lovely disheveled appearance.
Remove the office tie and lighten the hue of your chinos for weekends: off-white or khaki are great off-duty options. The blazer looks great with a clean Oxford shirt and a blue, brown, or beige sweater (pastels can look too preppy). For an office setting, go for the classic solution – brogues or chunky sole derbies – to play up the sweater’s athletic vibe.
Blazer, sweater, shirt, and chinos are the concluding elements of our third combination, ideal for occasions when the winters are round the corner and wool is too hot to handle.
Winter Friendly Outfits
For winter, you don’t have to look any further; go for a season’s knit roll neck. Similar to the aforementioned t-shirt trend, you don’t need to include a tie over these outfits. Remember, not everything requires a fine gauge, so go for everything other than cable knits or Chunkies for layering your outfits.
We suggest that for a statement knit, try to play with geo-prints, intarsia and jacquards or neutralize the outfit and let the texture speak for itself. Texture can bring contrast shades together even in the most tonal ensemble and create a visual interest that is there to stay. For instance, you can select an outfit that features a sleek finish navy blazer with a cream roll neck and charcoal flannel or tweed trousers, with a darker hue for the winter and formal occasions.
The third way to style an ensemble for chilly winters is a blazer, roll neck, and wool trousers. Easy, breezy, and perfectly thoughtful.
Formals? Casual Formals!
The blazer’s formalities indicate that it was designed for the workplace. However, stuffy corporate looks are no longer appropriate. It is entirely up to the person, but we believe that superfine merino with a soft structure can be very sleek and sharp while also adding generosity to the style due to its softness. If there is some leeway, stick to a charcoal or navy blazer with a crisp sky blue shirt (with a cutaway or straight point collar). However, if you prefer patterns, decide to go for a subtle check in a dark color.
The no-fuss blazer serves as a strong foundation (not a feature). This will allow you to introduce the accessories gradually, not having to worry about it all. We suggest that you keep the tie comfortable with a textured fabric or go for a quirky knit tie with a patterned shirt.
For styling blazers at the workplace, avoid fanciful accessories like the boutonniere or flower pin; it’s a little too Pitti Uomo-dandy. If you don’t have a tie on, do carry a pocket-handkerchief. Now, do you want to spruce up your lapel? We’re confident that this subtle metal tone lapel pin (that matches your watch) will look ideal. So, blazer, suit pants, shirt and tie with proper shoes and complementing accessories. We know that we have surely convinced you it’s a win for a casual, formal office day.
We hope that we were to help you with the styling guide. If we did, navigate to the Cabana Catalog’s online store for more of such tips and tricks. Also, if you wish to stock ideal blazers, you can check our catalogs and buy everything at an affordable price.

HOW TO DRESS CLASSY – 7 STYLE TIPS YOU NEED TO KNOW
HOW TO DRESS CLASSY
Is it time for you to change up your style? Add a bit of sophistication and class to your everyday outfits? Maybe you have a new job and need some new classy business casual attire, perhaps you’ve moved to a new city, or maybe you just need a change to represent who you have become. Are you wondering how to make that transition and how to dress classy? I’ll walk you through the ins and outs of styling yourself with a more sophisticated, chic, and classy style that you can wear for years to come (or the rest of your life!).
Classy styling is timeless. The navy shift dress and camel-colored pumps you buy today will still be wearable ten years from now. Buying one good pair of pearl stud earrings outweighs the 10 pairs of trendy statement earrings that will be passé a year after you buy them. Having a sophisticated and classy style means that you can wear your outfits to work, Sunday brunch, a city shopping trip, or traveling the world. You can even go sailing while rocking a classy look!
Creating classy outfits is about putting together crucial elements and making sure your style and confidence also shines through. So if you are ready to delve into a new classy look and answer the question of how to dress classy, let’s get started.
DEFINE AND KNOW YOUR PERSONAL STYLE
Personal style is something that each of us has; we just have to identify it, understand it, and then live it. It projects your mood, personality and you as a whole, reflecting your interests, lifestyle, inspirations, and your past.
When you find your personal style you know you look great and feel confident when you leave your home. Whether you prefer bohemian, street, high fashion, minimal or classic, you can make your style look classy when the occasion calls for it.
I hear many women say that they don’t have a personal style or they don’t know what their own style is. Whenever I hear this, I recommend that they take a look at their closet. If you’re trying to find your personal style here is a quick tip that you can do right now. Take out your favorite pieces from your wardrobe. Lay on your bed the clothing you wear over and over again and look for patterns. Is it mainly solids or patterns, bright or neutral colors, dresses or pants, flirty or conservative?
Which category do you see your clothing fitting into? Is your clothing learning towards more free-spirited, maybe bohemian? Or is it filled with solids in black, white, and navy in sleek lines and perfect fits? Then it could be minimalistic.
Typically, classic and minimalist styles will look classy all the time. Classic and minimalist styles usually learn towards neutral color palettes, shapes, fabrics which make it easier to put together classy outfits. But don’t think just because you prefer bohemian or street style that dressing classy is out of the question.
THE 7 BASICS OF CLASSY STYLE
#1 WEAR ITEMS THAT ARE MADE OF CLASSIC FABRICS
Classic, timeless clothing made of materials that will last well into the next decade is what you should be looking to add to your essential wardrobe. Think cotton, wool, linen, and silk. These four basic fabrics will stand the test of time if cared for properly. Cleaned and pressed, items made of these fabrics tend to give off a classy vibe all on their own.
These fabrics also have variations that allow you to expand on your wardrobe. Denim is one example of a cotton fabric that cuts across all style lines, from street to boho to minimalist. Similarly, chino cotton works excellent in pants, blazers and even moto jackets (for the street style in you!). Then there is cashmere, a type of wool that feels heavenly against the skin and doesn’t pill with age. Cashmere sweaters, whether they are cardigans, V-necks, or crewneck pullovers pair perfectly with those denim jeans, as well as tailored pants and skirts.
A word to the wise with these fabrics: Read the labels and care for them properly to make them last. While wrinkle-free cotton has become more available, most cotton items will need to be ironed. (Classy outfits are not wrinkly!) Wool, linen, and silk often have to be dry-cleaned or hand-washed. Make a mistake, and you may have to give your 6-year-old-niece that wool cardigan that was a staple in your wardrobe but shrunk in half thanks to your dryer.
#2 IF IN DOUBT WEAR SOLID NEUTRALS
Bold patterns and prints can definitely work in a sophisticated and classy look, but you may not be comfortable with such patterns if you are just beginning on your classy style journal. Neutrals are your friend in this case. Solids are plentiful in the stores (and probably your closet), easily combined, and help to stretch your wardrobe.
Typical neutrals are white/beige/cream, navy blue, black, and gray. Now, don’t think you have to dress head-to-toe in black (or other neutral). Monochromatic (different shades or tints of the same color) allow you to vary a color but remain classy. Or you can add small accents that can transform a solid into something eye-catching, like a skinny burgundy alligator belt, a paisley scarf, or a pair of red pumps. Want to know more about monochromatic dressing? Make sure to read What is Monochromatic and How to Wear a Monochromatic Outfit.
#3 FIT IS KEY
Classy and sophisticated clothing is typically tailored and form-fitting (not too tight, but you can show off your figure). Skirts should hit just above or below the knee, as should your classy dresses. Classic trousers are straight, slightly wide, faintly bootcut, or menswear-inspired and should be ½-inch off the floor in the back. Wide-leg pants and skinny pants in classic fabrics are also acceptable, as are ankle pants (shades of Audrey Hepburn!). Blazers, blouses, and sweaters should follow the curve of your waist.
Do not hesitate to take items to a local dressmaker or tailor to be altered to fit correctly. Love that shift dress at Nordstrom, but it’s too big in the bust? That’s a $15 fix. Are those gray wool pants in your closet too long for classic 3-inch pumps or do you want to wear them with flats? Another $10-15 fix. Remember, good quality clothes will last you for 10+ years, and it is a small price to pay for alterations. Beats having to replace cheap pants every three years.
Not everything you wear has to be perfectly tailored and form-fitting. You can mix in unstructured pieces for a more relaxed vibe. Pair a blue-striped t-shirt with chinos and a denim jacket or a flowy maxi skirt with a crisp white button-down shirt (roll up those sleeves for added panache!).
Here is an example of how to wear a jumpsuit, and in this outfit, I opted for solid neutrals and paired a structured blazer with a flowy jumpsuit.
#4 NEVER OVEREXPOSE
Dressing classy requires a bit of modesty — no midriff-baring tops, revealing low décolletage, or mini skirts.
Necklines are typically collared, boatneck, crew neck or V-neck. For some variety, you can also try square, cowl, and scoop necks. For more formal occasions, asymmetrical, sweetheart and halter necklines work as well. Regardless, keep your cleavage and your belly button covered. Additionally, armholes on blouses and dresses should not reveal your bra.
As noted above, hem length on skirts and dresses should be just above or below the knee for everyday wear, with slightly shorter and full-length appropriate for summer events or classic formal wear. You can look stylish and sexy without showing too much skin.
#5 DON’T GO OVERBOARD WITH ACCESSORIES
Simple jewellery is the best way to go when aiming for a classy and sophisticated style. My recommendations are:
Earrings: small silver or gold hoops, pearl or diamond studs.
Bracelet: silver or gold bangles (one heavy or several delicate), tennis bracelet, watch (gold or silver with metal or leather band).
Necklace: Long pendants, pearls, diamond solitaire, cross.
Ring: Not necessary, but if you do, go either delicate or statement. Thin bands, diamonds, or heirloom rings are fine, and everyone should have one cocktail ring to wear to events or dress up your jeans. Stick to ring and/or middle fingers only.
Scarf: Scarves are a great way to add color and visual interest to a sophisticated outfit. Particularly if the scarf is bright or with an interesting pattern, again, cotton, silk, and wool are the best fabric options. Try multiple colors and fabrics, with light silk or cotton for spring and thicker wool ones for winter. Florals, paisleys, stripes, and solids are great options. If you need more outfit inspiration make sure to check out: Ways to Wear a Scarf & How to Tie a Scarf: The Definitive Guide.
And don’t forget your shoes. Yes, shoes are an accessory! Pumps, slingbacks, ballet flats, or boots in solid neutrals, such as cream, navy or black, are your best bet. All go with a multitude of outfits, meaning you won’t need to break the bank for a closet full of shoes.
But don’t think that you can’t be daring with your shoe choices, every woman should own a red pair of shoes, and it never hurts to have an animal print to make an outfit pop a bit. (Think leopard print flats with khakis or denim.)
#6 STYLE YOUR HAIR
Now that we’ve covered colors, fabrics, fit and accessorizing let’s move on to your hair! I can’t say this goes without saying because I want to include all the basics. Make sure you style your hair. If you’re wondering how to dress classy and give the appearance of sophistication make sure you spend a little bit of time styling your hair.
If you’re short on time in the mornings or don’t like styling your hair opt for an easy haircut or a haircut that you can quickly put up. By stylish and chic hairstyles I mean a sleek bun or ponytail. I have a lot of hair, and it’s pretty long so if I want to look stylish, I know I need to spend at least 30 minutes on it if I want to wear it down. But the hairstyle I turn to when I don’t want to spend a long time on my hair is a sleek low bun.
Find a hairstyle that is easy for you to style every day and one that you love as well!
#7 MAKEUP MAKES A DIFFERENCE
You’ve made it to the last point on how to dress classy! Yay, thank you for making it here. I left this one for last because, to be honest, it’s the one I have the most trouble with. I don’t often “do” my makeup, and this point is one that I continually work on. If you are like me and don’t spend much time on your makeup focus on these three things that will make a difference in your classy look.
Eyes, checks, and lip should be what you focus on if you only have 5 minutes. Put on some mascara to open up your eyes, add some blush to bring some life and dimension to a face, and wear a bold lip to add a pop of color. These three things are subtle but make a huge difference to the completeness of your classy look.
YOU DON’T NEED A LOT OF MONEY TO DRESS CLASSY
Contrary to popular belief, classy outfits don’t have to break the bank. Yes, you can spend $200 on a designer-label button-down shirt, but you can also find one of comparable quality and appearance for $68 at Banana Republic, the Gap or Ann Taylor. And because classic, well-made clothing lasts for years, and even decades, you can often find good bargains at secondhand and thrift stores.
Invest in good quality basics that fit well, and that you can mix and match. Accessories—which are much cheaper than clothing—can help change up your looks and stretch those basics even further.
Like I mentioned on my first point about opting for classic fabrics, also look for classic shapes and forever classic closet staples. Don’t waste money on trendy pieces that you’ll only wear for a season.
KEEP A PRETTY MANI
Your hands and the jewelry on them are an extension of your wardrobe, and a reflection of the care you take with your appearance, especially if you are wearing a statement bracelet or ring that brings extra attention to those fingers.
Indulge in regular manicures, either at home or in a salon. Keep nails short to medium in length, opting for a nice round or oval shape, with clear or nude polish or a French manicure. Stay away from stiletto nails and bold or neon colors, as well as nail art and jewels.
NOTE: If wearing sandals or peep-toe shoes, a pedicure is a must. I find that a simple clear gloss or nude colors work best, but you can always go with a classic red or pink.
PAY ATTENTION TO THE DETAILS
They say that the devil is in the details, and dressing classy is no exception. The trick to wearing sophisticated clothing is to keep everything neat, clean, and simple. Make sure that the clothes are flattering on you and colors and patterns are balanced.
All items should be free of wrinkles and color coordinated. Check for holes, loose threads, missing buttons, or a hemline that is frayed. Stick with neutrals with pops of color here and there. Don’t over-accessorize; stick with simple minimal jewelry like a pair of earrings and a watch or earrings and a pendant necklace.
Your hair and makeup also play a role in your overall look. Again, neat and clean. Stay away from metallic eyeshadows in loud colors, be careful not to overdo the blush or bronzer, and stick with a neutral or light lip.
HOW TO DRESS CLASSY AND YOUR PERSONAL STYLE
Dressing classy doesn’t have to be difficult, but it will take some time to meld your personal style with the new sophisticated way of dressing. Don’t automatically discount the clothing you already have in your closet. You may be able to integrate items in ways you didn’t think possible.
My style is more classic and minimalist but I do like to add color whenever possible. As you can see in this outfit post, I’m wearing a classy dress but with with a pattern that screams personality. The small pops of color don’t overwhelm the dress or me but add to my look.
This dress has all of the details I mentioned above, with the hem ending just above the knees, a crew neckline, and it’s form fitting but not tight. It has that classy shape but with a little attitude.
I’ve paired it with a red handbag, fun metallic pump, and minimal accessories: sunglasses, earrings and a dainty watch. Simple, elegant, sophisticated and this outfit perfectly reflects my personal style.
So take a look through that closet again. Maybe you can let the hem down on your favorite skirt or add a cuff to pants that are too long for your ballet flats. And that floral silk blouse? It will look great paired with a neutral skirt and matching pumps. You don’t have to completely give up your own style to be classy and chic, but it will require some effort and modifications.
Are you ready to make a classy transition? Remember classy doesn’t mean boring or without personality. Dressing classy means dressing elegant and sophisticated. It’s also timeless and elegant.
If you feel like you’re jumping from style to style and don’t have the wardrobe that represents where you are in your life then start integrating the style tips I mention in this post! Shop for pieces that you can wear longer than a season and remember that a good tailor is worth every penny.
I hope I have answered all your classy outfit questions and you now know more about how to dress classy. If I missed something leave me a comment and I’ll answer you directly!

How to Dress Classy with style ?
Do you also wonder sometimes that everything you have in your wardrobe is full of last year's trendy clothes? Or that you don't even have any new clothes to wear for that instagram photoshoot? Or that how can you actually find the secret of fashion bloggers sophisticated and classy style? Well, if these are some of the type of questions that bothers you a lot when you're alone in your home, and you want a solution for, then don't worry you're on the right page. Here I will walk you through some of the great styling tips that would help you change your wardrobe style from trendy to classy and timeless in no minute.
Classy styling is timeless:
Before I walk you through some of the ins and outs of classy dressing, let me just provide you with some basic insides on why you should be dressing classy.
First thing first, classy styling is something which you could still wear even after 10 or 20 years down the line. This type of fashion is classic and it is timeless. It will never go out of fashion and that's the truth. For e.g. Buying a navy blazer or a black coloured platform heels will still be wearable and in fashion even after ten years from now.
The fact is you are not spending a lot of money on items that goes away by seasons. Instead, you are investing it on clothings that makes you look fashionable, chic, sophisticated and elegant. So, if you're ready to gain that classier look, then without further ado, let's get started.
Know Your Style:
One of the basic steps that each one of us lacks is we don't focus more on what we like and what our style is all about. We always follow what is in the magazine and instagram that is trending. We never look at the factor what we like and what we think we are comfortable in wearing.
Knowing your personal style is something which you just have to work on, recognize it, understand it and then get into a practice of living with it. It helps in projecting your personal interests, style and personality as a whole.
When you find your personal style you know it's going to look amazing on you and thus that self-confidence boosts up when you leave the house. Whether you prefer minimalism, street style, high end fashion or bohemian, you still be able to pop up the styling game when the right time calls for it.
The Basic Factors of Dressing Classy:
1) Wear Classic Fabrics:
To be classy you need to invest in items that are made from classic fabrics like wool, cotton, silk and linen. These are the four basic fabrics that will never go out of style. It will stay for decades and decades to come. But these fabrics only last longer when you take proper care of it. Proper maintenance like cleaning and pressing of the outfits made from these fabrics will give you a proper sleek and polished look.
But remember to always read the labels before you give it away for cleaning. A label always provides information regarding the guidelines on the washing technique, so make an effort to follow those directions carefully.
2 The Fit Is The Key For Classy Dressing:
Generally, a sophisticated and classy clothing line is basically tailored and well-fitted, i.e. Not too tight and not too loose on your body, just the right fitting that shows off the figure. A Crisp button-down shirt which is clean, well-fitted and pressed with a pencil skirt that is just an inch below or above your knee is a good example of a classy dressing.
Some of the examples of a classic outfit can be:
A Classic Trousers that are straight and slightly wide with just half an inch above the floor. High-Waisted Cullotes or a wide-leg pants. Skin tight pants made from the four classic fabrics and a Blazer, sweaters and blouses that fit you properly are all great for giving that classy and sophisticated vibe.
3) Invest In Neutrals:
If this is your first time starting on your classy dressing, then I think you should start investing in more neutral colours than vibrant colours. A neutral colour like white, beige, grey, black, navy, tan or camel are all good shades for building your wardrobe.
Now that you have invested in neutrals, it's time to mix and match the items. Don't be afraid to experiment with your style. If you like mixing black pants with navy shirt, then go ahead and try it out. Being classy is all about confidence and elegance while dressing. Although, before black and navy was a big fashion no no for some, now it has changed. Infact to, me black with navy looks more elegant than anything else in the world.
4) Never Try To Overexpose:
Classy dressing is all about modesty. An outfit that shows less skin is what considers to be sophisticated and elegant in this type of dressing. No distressed jeans, mini skirts or crop tops can fit into classy dressing.
T-shirts and blouses with collared, mock neck, V-neck, crew neck and boatneck are what comes in first priority while dressing classy. But in this trendy world, a square, cowl, high neck and scoop necks are also acceptable.
5) Delicate jewellery:
Delicate one-two layered jewellery is the best way to show the classy vibe. Here are some of the tips that can help you provide information on what kind of jewellery to wear in order to be classy:
Neck Piece: One or two Layered short or long chain, long pendants, Pearls, simple diamond chain.
Earrings: A diamond or pearl studs, platinum or gold ear threads.
Bracelet: Simple and delicate bangles like Cartier love bracelet
Ring: Stick to those thin bands that is simple to look at. Don't go overboard with big rings that covers your one entire finger. An eternity ring is a good example of simple rings.
6) Keep A Neat Mani:
For classy dressing, one of the most important thing is to maintain your nails in a good shape. A good and nice trimmed nails with or without nail polish shows off sophistication and elegance in your outfit. Trust me, even though it's something which gets hidden away most of the time, still it plays an important role in your outfit.
Therefore, indulge in a habit of getting your nails done at home or in a salon every twice a month. This not only helps you maintain the shape, but it also helps you with keeping your nails hygienic.

My Lover, My Liar
Blame @maevemauvaise @kangofu-cb for this angst.
A 2x3 fic featuring ANGST and CHARACTER DEATH below the cut.
A/N: Did you need some angst in your life? Don’t you worry, I’ve got you.
It’s not my fault, however. Blame Maevemauvaise and Kangofu-CB on tumblr.
A/N2: Maeve posted the video for Halsey’s “Eyes Closed” (from her new album, to be released June 2nd. Go pre-order. Your wait is almost over!!) and it inspired this. Also, the title is from the lyrics.
Pairings: 2x3
Warnings: ANGST, character death
My lover, My Liar
“Hey babe, you ready to go?”
I looked in the mirror, not at my own reflection but at the man standing behind me.
His eyes were compassionate, his lips pulled into a very faint grimace that made it clear he was concerned.
About me.
My fingers tightened on the tie I had been fumbling with for the past ten minutes.
His eyes went to my fingers. He knew me too well.
I cleared my throat.
“I just need another moment.”
He nodded, accepting the excuse. His lingered for another moment, and then walked out of the bedroom, leaving me to my own thoughts.
I let out a shuddery breath.
My eyes looked hollow, the violet smudges under them doing me no favors either.
At least my uniform was pressed. I had been distracted, had almost burnt the right trouser leg when I left the iron on the crease too long, when I found myself staring at the bookshelf across from my bed, my eyes locked on the rows and rows of books that he had left behind.
I drew in a deep breath, forced my fingers into cooperating and finally managed the regulation double windsor knot, pulling it tight enough that it left me uncomfortably aware of my collar pressed into my neck.
I picked a wayward cat hair from the shoulder of my khaki dress shirt.
Brown. His cat.
My jacket was still on the hanger, and I shrugged into it with a sigh.
I hated the jacket, hated the entire uniform. I had only had to wear it five - now six times. I did my level best to avoid every single occasion that would require me to wear the tight, itchy dress uniform.
There was no getting out of today, however.
And even though I wanted to, even though I hated myself for thinking of all of the ways I could engineer an excuse, I knew I had to go. I needed to go, now matter how much I wanted to pry my own fingernails out instead.
“You look good.”
Michael was waiting for me downstairs. Michael, who knew without really knowing how difficult this was for me. Who would never be able to understand just how much I despised myself for nearly every thought that went through my head on a daily basis but especially today, especially these thoughts.
He offered me a small tilt of his lips, meant to be encouraging, but it made me think of him.
“Want to drive or should I?” he asked, fingers reaching for the two sets of keys hanging beside the front door.
“You should,” I said, because I was fairly confident if I drove we would end up going in the opposite direction of where we were supposed to go.
He nodded, eased the keys off the loop and opened the door.
I walked out into the sun, irritated that the weather was so perfect, so heedless of my turmoil.
Michael drove just over the speed limit, slower than I would have, faster than I wanted him to.
He looked over after a few silent miles and held out his hand between us, offering something that I wasn’t entirely sure how to accept.
I slid my hand into his and closed my eyes as he squeezed.
There were times when Michael’s skin almost felt like his. Times when I could close my eyes and image the rough texture, the callouses and scars, were familiar.
“Are we going to get dinner with them afterwards or go home?” he asked, his voice rumbling through me.
I couldn’t imagine eating. I couldn’t understand how anyone would want to eat after this.
“Home,” I sighed.
Michael squeezed my hand again and I hated that point of contact, hating that connection to another person, hated the reminder that I was still alone. Without him.
The drive took almost an hour.
As the car slowed I opened my eyes and pulled my hand away from Michael and sat up straighter in the passenger seat.
Guards signalled us to stop, inspected our badges and the folded parchment Michael passed over, examining the letterhead with a scowl before handing it back and waving us through.
Michael parked and we got out of the car.
I closed the door and the sound Michael locking the car gave me pause, filled with me a sick, alien slick of panic.
“Babe?”
He had both hands on my face, cradling my jaw and angling my head up so he could see me clearly. So I could see him.
“Do you - we don’t have to do this.”
I shook my head, as much as I could considering his grip on me.
“It’s not - you don’t’ have to,” he repeated and leaned his forehead against mine.
The gesture was familiar, too familiar. It was his and I felt the panic work it’s way through my belly and claw at my throat.
“I have to do this,” I insisted, berating myself.
He eased away, but his hand reached for mine and I was pathetic enough to accept it.
We walked past the memorial, my eyes scanning the names, the faces in that haunting sculpture of desperate, writhing humans.
We were ushered down several halls and then outside again, into a secure area with concrete walls topped with barbed wire that gleamed in the sunlight.
The others were already there, seated in the two rows of folding chairs that felt both out of place and horribly appropriate.
Heero nodded once, acknowledging my existence. Wufei saw me and his lips tightened but he slid over, offering up the seats beside him and Michael and I eased into the row.
Une was standing, her spine so straight it had to be painful.
There was a breeze, faint enough that it could only stir a few tendrils of her hair.
The other people there looked at me and then through me, recognizing me and - and I didn’t know. I frankly didn’t care.
That was part of the problem, I was sure.
After ten minutes of tense, silent waiting, the two rows of chairs were filled and Une made some kind of signal to one of the guards.
An alarm sounded, a door in one of the concrete walls opened and three uniformed guards walked out.
And then there he was, shuffling along in the tight shackles around his feet, the manacles around his wrists connected to his waist but even so he managed to look graceful, managed to look untouchable.
They led him to the far wall and I realized there was a tarp on the ground, winced as his feet shuffled across the plastic and he was positioned against the far wall of the compound.
He was maybe a dozen yards away, but when he looked over, when he looked right at me I felt his gaze pierce me.
His eyes were bright, so vivid against the huge gray wall behind him and the dull canvas jumpsuit he worse.
One of the guards stepped forward, holding a black hood out.
He laughed, a single mirthless chuckle that was swallowed by the hood as it settled over his head and the guard pulled it down to his throat.
Beside me, Michael held out his hand again but I didn’t take it. I couldn’t.
Another signal from Une, another alarm, the sound accompanied by the whirl of a red light to signal live fire.
I looked away from him and to the row of six uniformed officers and the rifles they held. They each wore black caps and sunglasses, their features indistinguishable.
A firing squad.
It was archaic, horrific in a way that I couldn’t wrap my head around.
But it was legal, something he had found in some provision in some forgotten handbook and he had fought for it, had demanded it. And Michael, his lawyer for the trial that everyone had known would result in a guilty verdict, had done everything in his power to ensure that the method of execution was what his client wanted.
The alarm sounded again, three short blasts, and the guards moved away from him after the first blast. The rifles moved into position at the second blast.
The third blast was deafening.
He was still standing, the canvas jumpsuit no longer uniformly beige, the wall behind him no longer dull gray.
A moment of utter silence, and then he took a step, then another, his feet trying to carry him across the tarp - not towards the firing squad, but towards the row of chairs.
Towards me.
He fell, dropping to his knees and I knew I imagined it, knew it wasn’t possible for him to be saying my name, to be calling for me, but I was halfway out of my seat as he finally surrendered, as his hooded head lowered to the ground.
Beside me, Wufei reached out, digging his fingers into my thigh and forcing me back into my seat.
No one moved, there was no sound except for the thundering of my heartbeat.
Une signaled again and a guard approached him, checked for a pulse and then shook his head.
Only then did Une turn, only then did she skewer me with her glare, did she sweep her gaze across Heero and Wufei.
“There is no justice for the crimes he committed, no reparation for the lives he took. But he has, at the very least, paid for his wrongs. The Earthsphere will be safer without him in it.”
Wufei’s fingers were still on my thigh, still digging into my skin through the trousers and I knew he had broken the skin.
It reminded me of the night we had heard.
We had been on duty, had been sitting in our shared office looking over the intel reports and both pretending it wasn’t hours after we should have left for the night, both pretending we weren’t still there because we needed to hear his voice, to have him check in before we could leave.
“I’m done. This mission… I’m done. This isn’t me, this - these people need me.” It was so short, too short to track, just a burst of static and his voice, confident and unapologetic.
Wufei had looked at me with wild eyes as we both scrambled for the receiver.
“I love you.”
The line went dead before either of us could say anything.
We had known, Wuei and I, that this mission… it was impossible. It was… it was the kind of thing that ended your career, the kind of mission that you would never really come back from. The kind that he had always taken, had always shouldered because no one else could or should.
But we had known.
Une, I was sure, as she glared at me today and said those empty words, had known too.
He never would have come back, but none of us had counted on him abandoning the mission, of targeting the Preventers agents sent to finish the job, of him saving the lives of the very people he had been tasked with terminating.
Heero had been the one to apprehend him, had been the one to haul me off of him after I got in three punches, after our hands tangled together and he passed me the gold cross on the chain. The talisman that we traded back and forth each time one of us shipped out.
The necklace I wore now under my shirt, the cross burning its way into my flesh.
I glared back at Une.
Her warning was clear.
I pried Wufei’s hand off of my thigh.
Michael stood and offered me his hand.
I accepted it and we walked away from my lover, from the man who had promised a lifetime together, from my liar.

Let’s see what it takes to elevate your style to a more sophisticated level.
Here is a classy and professional outfit example that I would wear to a professional event or to the office. And this is a very elegant and classy outfit I wore to a black tie event. Those two outfits are examples that you can look stylish and sexy without showing too much skin.
#5 Don’t Go Overboard with Accessories
Simple jewelry is the best way to go when aiming for a classy and sophisticated style.
Florals, paisleys, stripes, and solids are great options
