I had a visual in my head of how you meet my Spamton Neo design called Plant Neo (Pleo for short) so I wanted to draw it! I had the idea of someone walking down one of the hallways, turning on a flashlight and they see this before he slowly turns to look to you.
I’ve actually finally made some lore and other general stuff for this guy, so feel free to read if you’re interested under the cut!
Ok a heads up, this lore DOES contain a death mention, so only read if you’re comfortable with that!
(WARNING: DEATH MENTION)
In an alternate universe, a drink is spilled on one of the computers, causing moss and mold to grow from the uncleaned liquid inside of the computer system. In Cyber City and deep within the Queen's castle, a strange sort of flora begins to make it's home where the Lightner's Vessel lay. Unlike anything similar to the trees around the King's Castle, this flora seemed.. completely unique, and only known to the few Addisons who advertised products for the outside world to the Lightners.
Spamton's usual role is fulfilled, with his big shot status soon crashing down as he fled his room and locked himself deep within the basement of the castle. No Swatchlings or the like thought to check here when being ordered to throw him out, leaving him down there completely alone and with the remnants of what was planned to be his theme park. Once again, he spent his days praying to the vessel, praying that it'll give him one final break, one final chance to be what he always dreamed to be.
That day never came, and it wasn't long before Spamton was gone just as the Queen had ordered. Over a long time the strange foreign plants had grown, overtaking the hallway around the vessel and soon after taking what remained of Spamton, growing into a stronger presence, sapping the light out of the vessel and what remnants of it that Spamton had seen briefly before.
The vines grew larger, filling in every inch of the Lightner's vessel as something strange happened.. the plant itself began to resemble the salesman that once prayed to the vessel, the one that it had absorbed in it's desperation for any nutrients and lacking the light. It had gained partial sentience, and it only knows one thing- that it NEEDS the light.
In it's own horrific way, Spamton had become a part of what he had yearned for in life, becoming a creature of the light that had infiltrated the dark. However, in the same way, that change had managed to calm his soul and allow him his own sort of freedom.
-
It doesn't know it's own purpose, and isn't entirely sentient, it's only instinct is to find a way to get to the Light World so it can grow and thrive and it needs the light in order to survive. Cyber City lights can help, but it's nothing like the sun for comparison, knowing that isn't what it needs.
Pleo is surprisingly rather gentle despite their dark origin, seeming like the light was able to calm Spamton's soul in a way. He's never interested in fighting, and is far from desperate to reach the light like Spamton was. He's relatively calm and looks on the good side of things, and while he doesn't entirely understand everything going on around him, they still have general instincts that an animal would have, being able to sense danger and get away from it if needed. Despite seeming menacing, he wouldn't hurt a fly, the only way you'd probably be hurt by him is if you touched his spikes yourself or tried to attack him.
The vines in his body can be controlled and moved by him, and can also somewhat resemble the strings that Spamton had, however much more free and being able to control them. The back of their suit can flip open, both spiked vines and normal vines being able to come out and grasp onto anything around it, including the ceiling which allows it to crawl around freely. The vines around it's neck, upper arms, and upper legs can also be manipulated and used to crawl around and pick up things, however they tend to rest coiled around the appendages and also help support it's body.
His general body can be slightly stretched to a limit, allowing his neck and arms to have a bit more mobility. He mostly uses this for his neck so he can see things clearer, being incredibly tall and needing to look down often.
He's completely mute, and can't talk, showing any kind of emotions through body movements. His mouth tends to almost always hang open.
His pipis is similar to seeds or small bean pods, being able to quickly sprout and turn into tiny versions of itself, resembling small plants.
-
I’ve actually posted him before but on my other account, so HERE is an actually decent ref of him.
I also put him up on ToyHouse where some people drew him for Artfight, and you can also see all of the art together! :D Have a wonderful day, thank you for reading!

Rainstorm
Yep. I'm a grown adult, but i feel like i need to tell you not to tell my mom. That is all I'm going to say.
WARNING: +18 READING. Probably some grammar mistakes ♥
John Krasinski x Reader.
Masterlist for more
Tumblr media
You remain in the same position, missing countings of having to re-read the same phrase at the top of the page. He is watching you, and it burns, mostly because you were about to give in and were, still, putting up a stupid fight against yourself.
He wasn't playing your games anymore. There was another field being stepped on, other than the childish silent treatment phase, followed by the disgraceful conversation.
You disguised yourself in doing other 'chores' instead of enjoying every little bit of time left with him before LA could come in between and settle you two into the silent treatment for good.
John gets up from behind the desk on the other side of the room, where he stayed most of the time, where you had caught him ignoring his laptop more than once to look at you. He simply marks while making you catch on fire.
So that was the subtle game he was playing, testing you, bending you like a fragile stick, not even using much strength.
Him putting on that black tank top, generous with the view of his new figure, a result of intense hours of training for another movie. It wasn't as if you didn't like him either way, but the combo of letting the beard grow gave him a darker tone you weren't expecting to enjoy.
Another thing you wouldn't expect is his anterior baby boy face to try to get you back with sex, but this new him you didn't know, you only assumed, because that's what you wanted him to do, putting out the dripping agony between your legs.
He could have, probably or definitely, observed the way you clenched early this morning when he got back after jogging, dripping in sweat, taking his shirt off, entering the kitchen, a place supposed to be a neutral zone. 'Unintentionally.' he pressed his body against your back when reaching for a green juice on the fridge while you were trying to grab the chicken breast.
His fingers cupped your waist, and the warmth stayed there. The tingling, his back, and every little patch of skin walking away from the kitchen trapped into your mind. How did he get so many muscles?
With each and every little innocent touch, every other time you were sleeping on the only bed left on that chalé you rented, far away from the mess of New York City, and he would press his hardness against your bottom, became harder to redeem your choice of staying mad, and remembering to stay that way.
He should have known better than siding with your mom against you, especially in intimate conversations, but every now and then he got carried away by your mother's ways, inviting and manipulative.
Talking about inviting and manipulative, you watch John changing his route towards the bed where you were and walking towards the window on the right.
"Shit, it is going to pour out here."
You could curse.
Deciding the actually leave the book and getting up, you seek shelter from leaving the environment when a loud thunder strikes and the lights go out, stopping you in the hallway towards the small living room, shared with the kitchen.
The fragile moonlight coming through the windows was enough to, at least, guide you two close them when the wind started to get intense.
"Maybe I go should check the fuses?"
You didn't think he was serious, and he didn't seem to be when another violent thunder struck.
Was he checking if you still cared about him enough not to send him outside to get hit by lightning?
He closes the last window in the living room part.
"Are you insane?"
There is still a little bit more annoyance in your voice than you wanted.
The kitchen curtains start to be lifted like they are electrified, making you, in a stupid, impulsive way, run towards them and ignore the existence of the step up to the kitchen part.
Your knees hit the edge floor, as also did the palm of your hands, absorbing the fall.
"FUCK!"
"Baby, what happened?"
"WHO THE FUCK PUT THIS FUCKING STEP HERE?"
"Fuck, I can't see a damn thing. Where the fuck did I put my phone?"
"Why do you need a phone?"
"For the flashlight."
"I'm five steps away from you, seriously."
You sit to start rubbing on your knees in a tentative to ease the pain.
"What if I trip on you." You hear his voice coming closer.
"I'll kill you, but I'm fine. I just need a minute." Another thunder strikes lighting up the room, and he spots you for a couple of seconds.
"Do you think you can close the windows?" You ask, hearing the sound of the trees being shaken by the wind.
"Fuck the windows."
There is the sound of his steps coming closer, and you know he crouched down by the vibration of your own body recognizing his, something that wasn't new, but got enhanced by the darkness you two were under, as also did his smell.
It isn't fair.
"John-"
"Shush, come here."
You feel like a child, putting up your arms around his shoulder, after some guidance from his own hands that afterward cupped down the sides of your breasts down towards your waist, and finally, he easily lifts you, keeping you locked against his chest. His hand makes a slow wandering on your back, and you found yourself subconsciously doing the same thing on his naked arms.
"Don't shus-"
He is quicker than your words, and you wouldn't complain, conquering your mouth as his in a battle you didn't want to win.
The wind whistles through the windows, but you could let it bring down the house if it meant John would continue to bite down your lips while moaning.
No underclothing could prevent him from reaching any part of you without ceremony, but he is slow in a way you have to take his hands and put it in on your breasts, making him chuckle.
"For someone who is mad at me."
He takes advantage of your needs, but two could play the game.
"I can stop if you want, and we can go back the way we were."
You bluff, placing all the convincing in your voice since he couldn't see your face, but you could tell he had that jerk smirk.
His answer came in the form of his fingers invading your pajama shorts, you foolishly try to move away, lazily, and his other hand puts you in place while you feel his thumb caressing your clit.
"Are you sure that is what you really want? You know, you just have to tell me."
His low deep tone fogs your brain completely, and he is quick to realize this fact, so he goes back to attacking your lying mouth, left with no other task than moaning for him, but your hands were eager and truthful. You conquer his moans by stroking him through the sweatpants.
"Oh...Fuck! I was starving for this. You really have no idea, looking at you every day, walking on this fucking see-through shirt practically all-day and denying me to touch you, to kiss you."
He bites your shoulder, releasing another moan when your hand reaches under his underwear.
"It is not like you weren't trying to torture me too, eye-fucking me all day, walking around the house semi-naked, dripping in sweat. I will never forgive how fucking hot you look with a beard. I thought I would hate it, and now I just want to feel it in the middle of my tights."
"So we think alike."
"I think we not gonna make it to the bed, and the couch is too small."
"Then floor it is."
Retrieving yours and his hands, he proceeds to grab you by the ass with both hands, lifting you.
Your legs know the way around his waist, and his mouth knows the way towards your breasts. Over the thin fabric t-shirt, he displays fragile bites while crouching down with you on his lap.
When your bottom touches the floor, carefully, you feel his hand on both sides of your body, ready to get rid of your shirt, and with your help, it comes out easily.
John hums in approval, and so does you when his hands are replaced with the warm wetness of his mouth over your nipples.
The summer rain starts to fall heavy outside while your back starts to rest down against the wood floor slowly.
With your spine flat on the floor, he decides to start to travel down with less routine than you expected, undressing you of your shorts.
John could be methodical, but it seems that he didn't lie about being ravenous for you, but he couldn't skip the foreplay, that would be the true sin.
He goes down towards your navel, and you couldn't decide if it was hotter with the absence of the lights or not; It did enhance each feeling, every swirl of his tongue, every wet sound and taste, but you craved to see his hazel eyes, burning with pure lust to see you squirming under his mouth.
You don't know who or what to thank when the moonlight persevered over whatever cloud blocking it, lighting up the room decently enough to let you capture, even if wouldn't last long, the glistening of his tongue entering you at the exact moment.
You wanted to open your eyes, tell him to look up at you, but you underestimated the power abstinence could have. Now you could really comprehend his lack of ceremony.
"Fuck! Shit... John!."
Through your closed eyelids, you welcome back the darkness, missing the opportunity given by the moon, getting clouded like your thoughts. She would have to be merciful when you could even miss your name. She would have to be more merciful than John, which adds a finger to his torture, curling it up inside you, moaning against your clit.
You coming undone was a matter of seconds.
He tries his best to put you in place when the orgasm hits, but he ruins it, retrieving his stokes and tongue at the peak.
"What the fuck!" You don't' even have the strength to get your torso up.
"Oh, you really thought you were getting away with being punished?"
He grabs your thighs, while you layed, spread open for him. You really could escape in the dark and lock him outside the bedroom to figure out the rest with his hand.
When the thought started to sound like a plan you find the strength needed to get up at least your torso, but with your rough movements, he quickly catches up, gripping hard on your thighs and bringing forward towards his lap.
You figured he waited for you to leave since he was already in the position to land you on top of his hardness, as you were.
"You son of b-."
He grabs your ass, forcing it down on him, causing an inevitable moan to occur since you were already sensitive.
"Be a good girl for me, and I will compensate you, baby. I feel like I shouldn't have to tell you this so many times. It is like you want me to punish you."
The moon now betrays you, showing up in a time you were vulnerable, letting him picture your face while your body melted in his arms, and all of him that was so fucking inviting and undeniable.
"Do what you want with me."
With his eyes boring into yours, John lays you down, proceeding to get out of his remaining clothes completely. You couldn't believe how insanely good he looked; the moonlight could be fooling you.
Watching his cock pops out of the underwear, you could feel the wet agony forming between your legs all over again, like the heavy rain outside.
There isn't another word when the connection of your eyes was held strong, until he inclined forward, placing himself where he belonged, inside you, and your vision got compromised as he merciless pounded his pelvis against yours.
"Christ!"
He growls like an animal, just from being inside of you.
"Make it last, Krasinski."
"Don't worry about it." He chuckles.
Getting a better position with his arms on the sides of your head, he places one under your neck for comfort.
Your legs wrapped around his waist deepened his movements, and soon he was hitting places unknown to you.
"Oh... fuck, that's it right there, don't stop."
You couldn't control, taking advantage of the rain, muffling your pleadings, and also did he, what ironically made you mad at the rain.
He wasn't much vocal, and it didn't bother you till now when his moans were eating your brain out from logic.
"God, you are getting wetter by the second." He says, then kisses your lips before closing his eyes, increasing the strokes. "Is it cause you are now how you are supposed to be? Full of me, and only me."
Now you were the one hungry for his mouth, grabbing on his beard slightly hard to bring towards your face. His tongue is avid, his free hand goes towards your clit, and it's too much.
His mouth parts from yours.
"Cum on my dick, baby, cum for me so I can fill you up like you want me to."
You cry it out, feeling every cell of your body ready to obey him, to please him, and it doesn't take too long when your legs started to shake, and this time he goes all the way with it, letting to lose a bit of movement only when his own orgasm reached. You kiss him, deeply, while he still thrust into you randomly.
His moans vibrating in your mouth, till he quiets down, parting the kiss.
He smirked at you.
"Do you remember when you told me that fucking during a rainstorm was your fantasy?"

It's Raining
Characters: Aguni Morizono, Hatter, Tatta Koudai, Arisu Ryohei, Last Boss, Niragi Suguru, Chishiya Shuntaro
Genre: Fluff. Just a thunderstorm, some vibes, and uh.... Monopoly. Briefly.
1.6k words
Man, writing with absolute zero idea of where I was going with it is.... interesting. My only thought was rainstorm, and here's what happened.
Tumblr media
Rain pattered against the window, Aguni watching the raindrops fall down the glass with a cup of steaming hot coffee in hand. Takeru was still in bed, sleeping off the spaghetti and red wine they shared last night, half a cookie hanging out of his mouth. Aguni takes a long, slow sip of his coffee, making sure to blow on it beforehand. He didn’t need to burn his mouth after all. He grunts lightly, going over today’s schedule over his head. The rain looked bad, so he couldn’t go out today, nor could anybody else. It might be bad enough for a power outage, Aguni notes internally.
He heads outside and through the halls. The rain was loud even here, but the sound of yelling was louder, cheers and screams coming from Arisu’s room. Aguni peeks inside just to see what was up, after knocking on the door to notify he was coming inside. He blinks as he stares at Niragi, Tatta, and Arisu all sitting in the dark in front of the television, playing some racing game, Arisu firmly in first place with Niragi and Tatta fighting for second just behind him. Niragi and Arisu were more absorbed in the game, Niragi the main source of all the yelling, using Arisu’s blanketed head as an arm rest, the tallest out of all of them sitting on the barren bed while the other two took space on the floor. Tatta seemed less focused at least, although he doesn’t stop playing even as he greets Aguni.
“ Hi! Did you need something?”
“ Uh… just checking up. It’s raining pretty badly. Just be aware there may be a power outage if it gets worse.”
Tatta nods, Niragi grumbling angrily as Tatta hits him with a red shell in the game. “ Okay!” Tatta chirps, Aguni nodding and shutting the door just as Arisu wins the race with an excited cheer, Niragi griping loudly and falling backwards on the bed. Aguni continues down the hall and goes to check up on Chishiya to tell him about the possible outage.
But he couldn’t, as Chishiya was still sleeping, curled up in his chair and a blanket thrown over him, likely from Tatta or Arisu actually caring. Aguni leaves him alone, shutting the door. Chishiya was smart enough to infer on his own when he wakes up. He continues through the house, occasionally taking a sip of coffee as he searches for the last member of the household.
Aguni knocks on Last Boss’ door, and receives absolutely zero response, but Aguni opens anyways. Last Boss was sitting there on the ground with his computer, looking up at Aguni blankly in the dark.
“ Hey. It’s raining pretty badly so be warned.” Aguni tells him, and looks at the ground, sighing at the mess. “ And clean up your room eventually, okay?” He looks back at Last Boss, who says absolutely nothing, continuing to stare blankly at him. Aguni stares back until Last Boss breaks eye contact, going back to typing on his computer without a hint of giving a fuck. He shut the door and makes his way down to the kitchen, drinking more coffee and listening to the rain patter against the windows louder than before. He settles himself with heating up some leftovers, watching the plate spin in the microwave as he sips at his coffee.
The microwave beeps, seconds before Aguni hears thunder pounding outside. Several, in fact. It nearly shakes the house with how loud it was, and Aguni swears he can hear Niragi cursing in Arisu’s room. Aguni pulls out his leftovers and takes a seat at the dining table, just as the lights begin to flicker. Aguni takes a long, slow sip of coffee and sets down his mug, poking at a piece of fish as the lights finally die on him.
Not long after, Aguni hears footsteps, and he look up through the dark as three figures approach, Niragi loudly grumbling and heading straight for the cabinets to look for a torch. Tatta and Arisu both stand there as Niragi rustles through the drawers, Aguni eating silently as Niragi slams open and close drawers. Arisu still had the blanket over his head, which he had wrapped around him so it was basically just a blanket with a face and legs.
“ Where’s the fucking flashlight-“ Niragi grumbles, even opening the medicine cabinet. It is followed by both Arisu and Tatta shrugging and offering nothing useful, Niragi continuing to search and yielding nothing. Aguni gets up only when Niragi tries the same drawer in the past five minutes, getting up and opening the fridge, which also lost its power. He digs inside, Niragi pausing to watch Aguni in pure and utter confusion as Aguni pulls out a flashlight and sets it on the counter by Niragi, shutting the fridge and going back to the table to continue eating. “ Wh-“ Niragi stammers, looking between the flashlight and the fridge. “ Why the hell was it in the fridge-“
Aguni wished he had a sane answer. But nothing was sane about the fridgelight. He finished his coffee and sets the mug down, looking to Niragi. “ Takeru thought it’d be funny.” He explains, Niragi looking at Aguni, eyes furrowed a little and frowning.
“ Why the fuck would-“ Niragi cuts himself off, picking up the flashlight and turning it on, nearly blinding Tatta. “ Whatever. This’ll do. What, do we not have a backup generator?”
“ We used to, but rats got to the wires so we were waiting on someone to come fix it!” Tatta explains, covering his eyes with his hand as Niragi turns the bright beam at his face.
“ Aren’t you a mechanic?”
“ For cars, mostly! Also I tried, but turns out the rats got a lot of the wires all messed up. And uhhhhh….. I might have forgotten to go buy new wires. Or a new generator.”
“ You’re useless.” Niragi mutters, Tatta frowning a little.
“ Rude…. But it’ll be fine until the storm passes by, right?” Tatta looks to Aguni for confirmation, Aguni giving him a brief nod. Tatta smiles, looking back at Niragi. “ See?” “ Fine. Would’ve been nice to have electricity. I’m gonna grab candles. It’s dark as shit in here.” Niragi grumbles, and he stalks away with the flashlight, Arisu and Tatta following behind to help. Aguni stays at the table to finish his meal, existing in his own time.
A few minutes later Niragi comes back and slaps a candle on the table in front of him, already lit. “ There. Have fun with your romantic dinner for one.” Niragi quips, then quickly walks away, Aguni thanking him under his breath and taking another bite of food.
Takeru comes outside as Aguni dumps his trash, holding his phone as a flashlight, heading straight for Aguni and draping himself over the man’s back.
“ Man, it’s so loud….. You doing okay?” Takeru mumbles into Aguni’s shoulder, apparently still very tired, Aguni nodding. Takeru hums, the two standing there in the candlelit kitchen as the rain battered against the house for a while. Takeru only lets go when Aguni starts to move away, arms dropping to the side as Aguni sits down at the table again, his face illuminated by the small faint candlelight. Takeru opens the lightless fridge, the sound of things moving around barely discernible from the loud patter. He pulls out something and shuts the door, coming over to sit across Aguni. In his hand seemed to be a glass bottle, Takeru twisting off the top and taking a sip.
Aguni watches him drink for a while, Takeru draining at least half of the bottle in one go before letting off, satisfyingly breathing out and wiping his mouth with the back off his hand. The house shakes as thunder rumbles outside, Takeru smiling and yawning. “ It’s rough outside, eh? I woke up to that first one but didn’t feel like getting out of bed.” Aguni grunts in response, Hatter nodding to himself. “ Yes, yes. Ah, is the generator still not working?” Aguni shakes his head, explaining the rat situation, Hatter slowly nodding. He finishes the rest of the bottle, letting it hit the table with a decent thunk, sighing and leaning back. “ No reason to sit around and do nothing. Wanna play Monopoly with the kids?”
“ And have to wrestle Chishiya away from stabbing Niragi in the knees again with a toothpick?”
Takeru only shrugs, getting up and walking away. “ What can go wrong this time? Monopoly night! Come on everyone!”
Aguni sighs, getting up and heading over to grab the Monopoly board. He wasn’t paying for the damages.
[AN HOUR LATER….]
Aguni keeps a hold of Niragi’s torso as he attempts (and fails) to reach Tatta, who was hiding behind the blanket blob that was Arisu, who somehow acquired everyone’s blanket in the timeframe he’s been by the board, Chishiya leaning against said blob and smirking at Niragi.
“ I’m gonna tear your fucking face off, you fucking whale shark!”
“ I’m sorry! It’s just a railroad!”
Aguni glances at Takeru, who just smiles and watches, with eyes that were void of any thought in his head. He wasn’t even feeling the slightest bit worried, was he. Aguni sighs, and forcefully pulls Niragi up and lifts him over his shoulder, Niragi trying (and still failing) to get free and attack Tatta.
Aguni much rather would have just sat around and do nothing. Maybe lay in bed with Takeru and talk about life and such.
But no, instead he gets this today, Niragi finally giving up as Aguni dumps him in the time out corner and walks away back to the scene, only to see Tatta having to pay the last of his money to a smug Chishiya. “ Aww, I’m bankrupt.”
“ Should’ve thought about that before having money.” Thunder clapped just as he finished that, Tatta yelping.
“ Ooh, that was a good one!” Takeru chirps, “ Real suspenseful!”
“ Thanks, it wasn’t my intention….. Or was it.”

Word Find Tag Game
Another tag! ^_^ I was tagged this time by @drabbleitout to find frantic, loot, fur, freckle and moon.
Frantic Ruh-roh, Latrell’s in trouble. What’s new, amiright?
Everton. So the Headees had been watching him.
The vindication was worthless at this point.
Latrell swallowed, the iron tang of blood sticking at the back of his throat. “Gentlemen,” he said, even though he was ninety percent sure one of the figures was female. “Seems a somewhat excessive way to begin a conversation.”
“It might be,” Everton said, crossing massive arms across a massive chest. “If this were in any way a conversation.”
Latrell’s heart faltered, restarted at twice its already frantic pace. He was unarmed, alone. Probably he could hold his own, for a minute or two, even three-on-one, but it was only going to result in something far worse than a couple of belts to the jaw.
He fashioned his face into a smirk, ignored the lance of pain it sent through his cheekbone. “Thank fuck for that. I was really hoping I wasn’t going to have to entertain you guys with just my witty repartee.”
Loot The ONLY instance of this word in the WIP, which is fun. Also feat. my absolute inability to write description ahahah oops. -.-
Ahead of him the residential buildings finally conceded defeat, and were replaced with similar facades to those on his right. Warehouses, from back when such things were required for the operation of the trains and docks and trade. A rickety walkway still stretched across the railway lines from their roofs, joining the two sides without interfering with the ghostly operation of the trains themselves.
Within its shadow was an old loading bay, the rolling door that would have once sealed it off either rusted in place or torn away. Latrell edged around the side of the opening and squinted into the dark space beyond.
It was not as big as he’d expected. Not much larger than a garage, actually, and he considered the fact that perhaps that’s what this was; a storage room, rather than a receiving area. Creeping a little further into the dimness, he made out the shapes of rusted shelves lining all three walls, their contents long pinched or purged or looted.
There was a single door in the corner. Latrell tried the handle, couldn’t move it. Probably not locked as much as secured in place by years of dust and dirt and warping.
This would do nicely. He retreated back to the mouth of the room, found a spot where he would be mostly concealed by the shadows, and settled down to wait.
Fur No actual instances of “fur”. So I’m cheating and using it as part of a word, cuz that’s just how I roll. :D (Also this contains potentially one of my favourite lines, so.)
"They identified the body. Woman I used to work with. Carrie Bishop." Latrell hesitated for just a beat before he added, "She was a cop."
Nox absorbed this for a couple of seconds. "Was as in 'and now she's dead' or was as in 'had since changed careers'?"
"Does it matter?" Latrell's voice came out sharper than he intended; he bit down on the tip of his tongue, taking a moment to centre himself. "What matters is the Headees have come up with a new theory. They reckon she was walking by and saw the beam of your flashlight in an otherwise empty house. Came up to confront you, so you made sure there were no witnesses."
Nox scoffed, pulling his hands out of his pockets swiftly enough that Latrell tensed. But all he did was flick one wrist, turning his hand palm up to reveal a small spot of light. Looking directly at it was like looking into the sun. "Seriously? As if I need a fucking flashlight."
Definitely illusion then, Latrell noted. Although it manifested as only light manipulation at further proximities; maybe dual locations? He said, "Somehow I doubt that's gonna be enough to convince them."
"Of course. So we stick with the original plan." Nox closed his fingers, extinguishing the light. Sunspots danced in Latrell's vision. "I've got a couple of avenues I can explore. Especially now I know who she was."
"Fantastic," Latrell said, deadpan.
Freckle I am fairly unsurprised that I have NO instances of this in the entire WIP. Does give me some inspo for character design though. :D
Moon This is directly after the “midpoint”, so yeah, Latrell is having A Time. (Okay let’s be honest he’s ALWAYS having a time ahahaha)
The ocean rolled in, and out, and in again. Calm tonight, serene, washing amongst the foot of the rocks with a whisper rather than a roar. Latrell inhaled when she did. Emptied his lungs as the water drew back. Ebbing and flowing. Timeless. Relentless. Constant.
When the trembling had decreased to the slightest tremor in his fingers, he raised his gaze, looked out across the water. Without his glasses it was more undefined than usual, shards of moonlight glinting on the water mirroring the stars, the two blending together into a single, infinite expanse. As dark as Nox’s illusion was light. As grounding as the illusion was distressing. Latrell felt the rocks beneath his feet. The cool breeze whispering against his face. Tasted salt and seaweed and serenity.
He breathed.
“Lawman?” Nox said after time indeterminate. “You good?”
Latrell stepped back from the edge, once, and then twice. Matched the ocean for two more breaths, then turned away from her, towards Nox’s voice.
He stood close, only a couple of feet away. Hands in his pockets, dagger earring catching the moonlight. Eyes as dark and illimitable as the meshed ocean and sky.
“I am so,” — Latrell had to pause to take a breath, to gather himself to speak the truth — “So far from good.”
I am going to tag @blindthewind, @afoolandathief, @ashen-crest and anybody else who wants to jump on an open tag! ^_^ Your words are: blue, grace, wobble and flash.

Aizawa Shota’s eyes grew dark; thick spit piled at the back of his throat. He hated hated hated another hand -- another finger wrapped around his lover. They weren’t obvious to his affection. His strong hands latched around soft flesh. Their body was already soiled with the unworthy, why bother to be gentle? Besides, Aizawa saw the red imprints as proof of ownership. His welts were gifts. A bonding of their bodies. The Erasure Hero still ached for them. For their acknowledgement of him. Of his touches.
And yet, the teacher relented. A smile would tug at their lips. “Aizawa, your hand must’ve slipped!” It made Aizawa sick. There was this black, cancerous part of him. Carnivorous and hungry for their misery. The feeling was a hole buried deep within his chest. Maybe settled over his heart. Aizawa knew what it craved. This inner abyss wanted only one thing; his little naive teacher crying and begging. Begging for Aizawa to stop. The Erasure Hero’s mind wandered with fantasies of them; red-faced and wanton. Their nativey reduced, his fellow teacher kicked from their pedestal.
The Erasure Hero continued to watch Yamada and his little naive teacher. Yamada was absorbed in a story; his movements animated and lively. Occasionally, the blond brushed against them. In return, his lover flashed a meek grin.
“Aizawa, is something wrong?” Their voice was soft, if not carrying a note of concern.
Aizawa wore a scowl, “No, nothing at all. I was lost in thought.”
Unphased by his expression, the teacher offered a light shrug and turned their attention to Yamada. To be so naive and carefree was unflattering for a hero. In Aizawa’s opinion, a hero should conduct themselves as a hero; not some laid back wretch. Frankly, it was embarrassing. Their attitude -- their cheerful grins -- were disgusting.
His upper lip curled into a snarl. ‘Tonight, you learn a lesson.’
° ∆ -------- ••• ------- ∆ °° ∆ -------- ••• ------- ∆ °
It was a starless night; the sky inky black and endless. Returning home, the teacher slipped off their shoes. Cool wood met their soles. Comforting. Their walk home somehow felt suffocating tonight. The trees blended together into unnatural shapes. Light footsteps sounded behind them, but everytime the teacher looked, no one was there. They attributed the noises to wind weaving through branches. This thought soothed the teacher as they prepared dinner. It was a solitary act. Quiet. Peaceful. The silence allowed for their mind to unravel and decompress. Their tiny kitchen was home, if not a reprieve from their coworker.
At first, the teacher believed Aizawa’s touches were accidental; the hero wasn’t known for friendliness -- but this wasn’t friendly. His fingers were calloused iron snakes that gripped their wrist like a shackle. His touch reminded them of a villain; cold and harsh. Originally, the teacher believed Aizawa was trying to be welcoming. They told themselves the Erasure Hero was awkward -- closeness probably wasn’t something he practiced. And yet, he chose them as his introduction to comradarty, but Aizawa didn’t relent. If anything, exercising peeks of a grin seemed to spur more abuse. Perhaps their feigned ignorance annoyed him. Scorning an already vengeful god.
They pushed down the thought, instead opting to focus on a steamy bowl of rice. Food served as a good distraction. A distraction Aizawa exploited. In moments like this, he almost felt sorry for them.
Almost.
‘It’s too bad you deserve this, isn’t it?’
The Erasure Hero stood outside his lover’s apartment; lusty eyes glued to their open window. An aroma of spices and steam wafted through the night air. For a moment, Aizawa’s anger dissipated. He could knock on their door, he could apologize, he could stop… But he won’t. In his heart, Aizawa knows his little teacher needs this.
He watched the teacher while they ate and found himself mildly annoyed by their blissful ignorance. They weren’t stupid; his little teacher at least suspected someone trailing them, and yet here they sat, munching down dinner. ‘Stupid little bunny. I know you want this.’
Food was the perfect cure. Hot, delicious goodness that melted away any ick. However, their body was still sticky with the feeling of Aizawa. No matter how long the shower, no matter how hot -- the teacher couldn’t completely erase Aizawa’s touches. Their skin was ruined. Ruined by slender, rough fingers. Ruined by a hero.
Truthfully, they tried to avoid these thoughts. The harsh reality that someone they looked up to -- someone they were ecstatic to work alongside. Aizawa made their stomach knot into nauseating twists. The hero was nothing more than a shadow; more villain than man. Tears gathered at their eyes. It hurt to think of a coworker like this -- much less their idol. If only they allowed themselves a moment of mourning, but they sucked up the tears with a gulp and finished dinner.
The object of Aizawa’s affections moved around the kitchen rhythmically. They cleaned and scrubbed, but their typical grin was misplaced. Instead a sharp line formed. Aizawa wasn’t used to this expression -- it was sour and sad and he hated it. He wanted them on their knees, face stained with broken sobs. Their body marred from manhandling. Pleading with the Erasure Hero; ‘Please master, I’m sorry,’ drool stringing from their lips. His coworker reduced to whimpering and squirming as his fingers invaded every hole.
Aizawa’s cock twitched at the thought… but he shouldn’t let his mind wander. He needed to watch -- needed to observe them. The hero convinced himself it was for a logical purpose; once they slept, he could strike. Aizawa had mulled it over many times before. Eventually, he would chase the thought away as absurd. Kidnapping your coworker and exercising every little fantasy was criminal. Thoughts only a villain had. But they relented, changing shape into actions of harsh grabs. These brutal acts only sated him for so long. Minor diversions. His true meal was before him now; a naive little teacher.
Keeping the excitement at bay, Aizawa licked his lips. It was almost painful to wait like this. Aizawa was a starving predator eyeing wounded prey. He wanted them to hurry up -- ‘Hurry the fuck up. I can’t wait forever.’ The night wasn’t ethereal and he was a hero, after all. There were other… commitments. If it were possible, the Erasure Hero would waste his evening perversely watching the teacher. They were so innocent. Absolutely ignorant to the big bad that crouched outside their window.
° ∆ -------- ••• ------- ∆ °° ∆ -------- ••• ------- ∆ °
Their bedtime ritual was simple. Shower, sneak a snack from the fridge, and settle into a quiet movie. Something they could fall asleep too; a monotone crime documentary or a bland comedy. Deciding on a documentary, the teacher watched with lazy interest. Their eyes felt extra heavy tonight. It was a struggle to stay awake, lids droopy and body relaxed. Sleep wasn’t usually this easy, but they eased into slumber like a fool.
To test his theory, Aizawa rapped against their bedroom window.
‘Sleeping so secure. I should have drugged you sooner,’ the raven haired hero thinks. Planning this took time -- preparation. He memorized their floor plan. Only two exits, both usually locked. On a seldom day of rest, Aizawa talked the landlord into a key. He was a concerned boyfriend -- it was for his lover’s own good. Really, it was too easy.
Aizawa let himself in while soft snores echoed. He wondered if they were drooling, a lewd image weaved into his mind. Aizawa’s breath caught in his throat as he crept into their bedroom. The teacher’s room was dimly lit. A simple ambient orange night light was plugged into a corner, but it did little to illustrate his surroundings. With care, Aizawa silently glided to his lover’s bed. Phone in hand, Aizawa shined a flashlight into their face.
“No, still asleep. Or are you pretending? You wanted this,” he murmurs, breath hot against their cheeks. The teacher’s face was flustered and sweaty. Even their body wanted this -- already blushing and slick. A calloused hand brushed wet hair away from their face, the hero admiring his prize. Aizawa tested his luck by dipping his fingers underneath their shirt. Their nipples were erect, little rosebuds that were sensitive to his touch; earning a shiver in response. Honestly, a part of the hero was pleased if not aroused by this. His lover should want him, too.
Feeling more confident, he teased their nipple. His other hand stroked their cheek, longing for tears and babbling. His touch was rewarded with spasms and squirms. The teacher’s breath was hot and ragged, like a little pup struggling with a fever. A sigh left Aizawa’s chest. Stress, anger, hatred began to melt away. The body beneath him was nothing more than a stress ball, his hands kneading their supple flesh. But the hero was unsatisfied. He wanted… more. Curiosity got the better of him, though. Aizawa trailed his hand from their chest, stopping at the waistband of their panties. He wondered how wet they were -- how needy their little cunt was for the hero.
Carefully, Aizawa slipped a finger between their thighs, “Your panties are soaked for your master, aren’t they? Little bunny.” He knew they couldn’t respond, but saying it made it more real. Tangible. Nodding to himself, Aizawa pulled down their panties. A shiver vibrated through his lover. “Aw, my little pet is cold. Don’t worry,” he prods their slickness, “master will warm you up.”
The Erasure Hero stroked their folds; a test to be sure they wouldn’t suddenly jolt awake. Satisfied with their slumber, he plunged a finger into their steamy cunt. Their walls closed around Aizawa’s finger like a vice; snug and tight. “My, my. Look at you, all needy and ready for master.” The hero slowly massaged their moist core. His other hand now wrapped around his pulsating cock. He picked up his pace, the stimulation of their cunt having earned several muffled groans. The room was filled with a quiet orchestra of Aizawa’s labored breathing and his lover’s sloppy cunt. Noises that were like music; he could listen forever.
Their chorus of lewdness inspired an idea.
“Stay still,”he commands, “gonna mark you.” Aizawa’s voice is almost unrecognizable underneath all the labored breathing and guttural moans. Drool seeps out the side of Aizawa’s mouth as he leans over, breath humid against their skin. He hovers over his lover for a moment -- admiring -- until he latches onto their collarbone. Sucking, sucking, sucking. Aizawa ran his tongue over their exposed flesh; being sure to strip their skin raw. They would be branded by him… as his. A hand brushed against the hero, ‘After all that drugging, you’re still fighting back?’ Aizawa’s dry lips curled into a smile against their skin while stroking his now leaking cock. Heat expanded within the hero’s stomach; he needed to be inside them.
Extracting his now soaked fingers and positioning them around his lover’s neck, Aizawa lined himself up with their entrance. “I hope you’re ready, little pet.” It was difficult to leverage himself into their heated core -- their body responding all too well to Aizawa’s touches. Little mewls spilling out, muscles spasming. Gently, Aizawa entered his lover. Despite the heavy drugging, the fear of being caught still dug into his chest. His thrusts were slow, deliberate. He wanted to savor this moment. ‘I want to devour you.’
Their pussy wrapped around him perfectly; walls clenched as if trained for him. “For a little pet, you’re doing so good.” His praises fall on deaf ears as the crest-fallen hero continues to pump into them. “Should I come inside you? You’re being so well-behaved, far less than the brat I know from work.” Aizawa preferred them like this; quiet, no smug grin plastered on. Simply obedient and wrapped around his cock.
Aizawa’s cock hit a certain spongy area and earned a whine as his reward. Encouraged by his lover, he quickens pace. The man was desperate to siphon out every last perverse sound. “You -- ah -- you really wanna milk master’s cock, don’t you?” A part of him wished they would respond with a breathless, ‘Master please, I wanna cum!’ Instead, Aizawa settled to tighten his grip around their throat. He wanted them choking with ecstasy; the ideal punishment. The heat within his stomach was a furnace now. Fiery knots that confirmed he needed to empty his milky seed into his little pet. In a flurry of animalistic thrusts, Aizawa came with a deep groan. His fingers were still wrapped around his little teacher’s throat, pressing on their larynx.
He looked down, sweat dripping from his brow. He took a moment to idolize his work; their body flushed, slick with sweat. Chest rising and falling erratically. Aizawa was still riding his orgasm as he used a calloused thumb to push his cum deeper inside their slimy cunt.
“Now you’re just as filthy as me.”

Small Time Witch (18)
The compound was quiet except for the constant hum of fluorescent. The five of you walked in like children in trouble for missing curfew. You and Wanda held hands, passing each other secret messages. For once she was the bundle of nerves. You were calm. Chillingly calm. You ran your thumb over her knuckles and squeezed every now and then. She squeezed back holding on to you for dear life. She didn’t know why her stomach was in knots but it was.
Bucky and Sam stalked around the room on kittens feet. They checked around corners and opened doors. Sam thought about an episode of Scooby Doo that always creeped him out. The gang was in an old factory searching by flashlight when an idle machine kicked on. Like it was on cue the elevator dinged. He nearly jumped out of his skin. Off walked Tony who seemed to be just as startled. “Why are you guys creeping around? We have to get going.”
Bucky and Steve looked tense. All stiff with their brows furrowed and nostrils flared. Their fists were clenched ready to fight. You held Bucky’s right hand to calm him down. When you tried to grab Steve’s hand he pulled it away. On the long ride back you and Steve sat in the back seat while Sam drove. You rested your head on his chest. He held you lazily not really reciprocating the need to touch. He looked out of the window mostly. Deep in thought. Perhaps he had noticed your bracelet back on your wrist. Perhaps he noticed your kiss swollen lips. Maybe it was the tears shimmering in your eyes and the look of longing on your face that he knew were not for him. Perhaps he knew you had made your choice in the beautiful house built in the glen. Perhaps you didn’t even know that you had. For the first time it wasn’t him. No. He didn’t want to be calm now. He needed his adrenaline rushing and his senses heightened. Maybe after this you wouldn’t choose him but he knew in his heart you loved him. More than anything he knew in his heart how much he loved you.
“Looking for you, boss.” you said, sarcasm tinting your voice.
“Well you found me.” Something icy cold passed between you and Tony. He had one finger on the trigger and he was itching to squeeze. Your confidence was making him edgy. He wasn’t scaring you but he knew you knew something was happening. That’s ok. When you didn’t have your man protecting you he bet you would adjust your attitude.
“Ok. If you two strapping men can help load a few things on the jet I would appreciate it. I’m running point on this one.” Steve and Bucky reluctantly left to help Clint. Tony looked at you over his glasses, “You’re with me, Sunshine.”
Sam followed the two of you towards the door, “You flying separate?”
“Yeah. Two teams. Rhodes and Romanoff are already on board. We’ll see you in Juneau.” You followed behind Tony trying to match his long strides. He was clearly trying to get you out of there before Steve got back inside. Sam and Wanda took off running to the airstrip.
“Cap! Y/N went on a separate aircraft with Tony Rhodes and Romanoff. I couldn’t stall him without raising an eyebrow, man. I’m sorry.”
Steve dropped the box he was holding and ran to the runway where you were taking off. Your plane was already in the air. “Barton! Clint! We gotta go.”
“Sorry, Steve. I can’t fly that plane.”
“What?! Why not?”
“I have direct orders to keep you here for as long as possible.”
“I can fly the Quinjet, Steve.” Bucky could no longer hide his anger. He wanted to stomp Clint into the ground.
Clint puffed up his chest and took a few deep breaths. “Hit me. Make it look real.”
“What?” Steve was so scared for you that he couldn’t comprehend words.
“If that was Laura I would kill anyone who laid a hand on her. Flight plan is already loaded onto the gps. Hit me, Steve. I have to make it look like I put up a fight.” Without thinking Bucky cocked back his right hand and smashed it into Clint’s eye. He stumbled back and fell towards the ground. Wanda used her powers to get him down gently. They all got oh the Quinjet and prepared to take off.
☄️☄️☄️☄️☄️☄️☄️☄️☄️☄️☄️☄️☄️☄️
Everyone on the plane looked relaxed but they were all on edge. Nat sat next to Rhodey. Neither of them made eye contact with you. You sat down in a row of seats by yourself. This looked like a luxury aircraft but you were certain Tony tricked it out. You looked out the window watching New York disappear. This may be the last time you’d see it. The whole place was a sea of glittering lights all glorious in their gaudiness. You ran your fingers over the emeralds on your bracelet hoping Loki followed your instructions.
Tony came over with a glass of water and your pill bottle. “Isn’t it time to take your meds?” He fished one out and handed it to you. “Take it here. Show daddy like a good girl.” You lifted the glass to your lips maintaining eye contact with him the whole time. You lifted your tongue and fish hooked your cheeks. “Thank you, dear.” Once he walked away you quickly reached in your bag to grab your tablets. You popped two and hoped for the best.
A few minutes later Fury was sitting across from you. “I love flying at night,” you said as if you were in the middle of a conversation with him already. “The sky looks navy blue at this hour. We’re chasing the sunset. What can I do for you, Director?” He regarded you with the same slightly annoyed look he always had on his face.
“Where did I mess up?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Yes you do. I’m curious. When did you know?”
You smiled with a glint in your eye he’s never seen before. Your whole demeanor changed. “I only suspected your involvement in my family’s deaths at first. You were very convincing. It was when you put me up in the condo that I was really sure. You must have wanted me desperately to shower me with such riches.”
“Mmmm. I see. And you accepted freely.”
“I did. I wish I could be ashamed but I’m not. I mean, I got free tactical training with SHIELD. The Avengers trained me in hand to hand and on weapons. Then you had me training with some of the best sorcerers on the planet. Where you really fucked up though was not doing your own research. You see, I have an eidetic memory. A simple search of my school records would have told you that. I have memorized all of Natasha’s fight patterns and every spell Strange taught me. Which, by the way, he was teaching me defensive strategies not control tactics. I know all of the weaknesses in Tony’s suits. I’m also not afraid of tearing the Arch Reactor out of his chest. Did you know I was a conduit before my involvement with the Avengers?”
He sighed, “No. It wasn’t until your final test at the compound. Romanoff told me what you were.”
“Fascinating you didn’t hear that from Loki. He was your biggest mistake. You also didn’t factor in Strange. That’s why you rushed to the compound. You wanted to get to me before he did.”
“Well you’ve seemed to figure it all out.”
“Not everything. Why am I really going to Alaska? Who do you want there? Since I’m about to die I have a right to know why”
“Franklin Richards. He’s being held there. At the moment he’s unconscious. You need to take him out.”
“Susan and Reed’s son? You want me to absorb his powers. So this isn’t a Hydra base.”
“Oh no. It is. Senator Stern arranged for you to have access to Franklin. He and Senator Kelly have joined forces to create this encampment. Their motives are similar.”
“Ah. No more mutants.”
“That was Kelly’s idea at first. He’s seen the light and agreed to use mutants to our advantage. Franklin is too powerful. We need you to remove his power.”
“And I’m sure you know how powerful Franklin is even at his young age. I’m also sure you know now that I can’t absorb a power from a living person.”
“Minor issue. Easily fixed.”
“I’m not going to kill that boy. I will stand back and watch when Reed and Susan get their hands on you.” You laughed and sipped your water.
“You will do as we ask. I’m not in the habit of making requests.” He got up from his seat and went back up to talk to Tony. You blew out a deep breath. Every cell in your body was reaching out to Wanda and Loki. If they were close enough to you Wanda could hear your cries.
Someone else entirely heard you this time. Scott ran to Jean when he heard her talking incoherently. “Jean! You ok?”
“It’s Y/N. She’s in trouble.”
“We are ahead of them. We’ll be there before they land. Susan and Reed are meeting us there as well. Don’t worry. We’ll get to them.”
Jean reached her mind to yours, “We’re on our way, Y/N. We’re coming to help.” You heard her voice and calmed down. Fury wouldn’t know what hit him.

Author’s Note: Hey guys, sorry I haven’t updated lately. This has been the busiest--and worst--season of my life, so I haven’t felt up to writing much. Unfortunately, it will probably be a while until I update again because I’m starting my new job full time next week while going to school full time as well. Wish me luck! I hope you enjoy the chapter and please make sure to tell me what you think, reblog, and like!

"So, when did you get there?"
If Olivia had to stare at Agent Rafael McCall for another five minutes, she was gonna punch him in the face. She wouldn't be at fault, either; how could she be responsible for her actions when she just went through something as traumatic as a teenager could go through? A serial killer kidnapped her new friend and they all rescued her, but they were the ones being questioned? Where was the justice in the world?
Yeah, if she did end up punching Scott's dad in the face, she would totally blame it on her stressful night. It wasn't because she couldn't stand the smug son of a bitch; even if he wasn't a dick when they first crossed paths, she still wouldn't be able to tolerate him—especially because of what he was doing to Noah. And now, after he ushered in Olivia, Stiles, Scott, Kira, and Lydia into Noah's office, he was asking repetitive questions about their experience.
Hey, Olivia was all for justice and all that—but what exactly could the FBI do about a bunch of werewolves, a banshee, an anchor, and whatever the hell Kira was? Barrow was after kids with glowing eyes and as far as the up-tops were concerned, no such thing existed. They put Barrow in the Eichen House for a reason.
To put it simply, she was not in the best of moods. Kira was some kind of supernatural creature that could absorb electricity, Stiles and Scott were almost electrocuted to death by Barrow, and Isaac was at the Argents, his tether recovering from what had happened to him, even though she had no idea what that was. She did not want to be at the police station at midnight, squished into a small couch with Stiles, Scott, and Kira—Lydia was the lucky one with the armchair—while the jolly green giant questioned them.
To her left, Stiles responded, "At the same time."
"At the same time as who?"
"At the same time as me," Scott told his father.
"By coincidence?"
"What do you mean coincidence?"
Things were not helped when Stiles decided it was time to be a sarcastic little shit. It was well known that Stiles hated Agent McCall—she had heard many, many rants about his best friend's dad—so everyone knew what he was doing. Answering questions with questions, offering sarcastic quips that answered nothing, and silent smirks were what they've been having to deal with since their questioning started. Olivia loved Stiles Stilinski, she really did, but he was wasting their time, precious time where they could be sleeping. He really lived up to his mischievous name.
"That's what I'm asking you," Agent McCall gestured to Stiles and Scott. "The two of you arrived at the same time. Was that coincidence?"
Scott's face twisted in confusion. "Are you asking me?"
"I think he's asking me," Stiles mused.
"I think he's asking the both of you," Lydia said dryly, as annoyed with the boys' antics as Olivia was.
"Okay," Agent McCall interjected sternly. "Let me answer the questions."
Olivia rolled her eyes at him, completely unimpressed with his sense of professionalism, and glanced at Stiles. His lips were pursed ridiculously, like he was taking a selfie with the terribly cliché duck face; she had to admit, it did make her want to laugh, especially when she caught sight of Noah holding back his own laughter.
Seeing the amused faces staring back at him, Agent McCall realized his mistake. "Let me ask the questions," he corrected himself. "Just so I have this absolutely clear: Barrow was hiding in the chemistry closet at the school. Someone left him a coded message on the blackboard telling him to kill Kira. Then Barrow took Kira to a power substation and tied her up with the intent of electrocuting her, which blacked out the entire town."
He closed his notebook, where he had been writing down the information they gave him, with a final snap.
"Sounds about right," Stiles sighed; with his right hand, he idly played with the ends of Olivia's ponytail.
"How'd you know he'd take her to a power station?"
"Well, cause he was an electrical engineer," Stiles scratched his temple with his free hand. He shifted his other away from Olivia until it was folding over his stomach. "Where else would he take her?"
There were a billion other places that Barrow had taken Kira, but they couldn't exactly tell Agent McCall that they knew they were at a power station because of Lydia's newfound banshee abilities. Then they'd be shipped to Eichen.
Agent McCall raised a dubious eyebrow at him. "That's one hell of a deduction there, Stiles."
"Yeah, what can I say? I take after my pops, he's in law enforcement," Stiles swiftly smirked, winking at his dad from where he sat behind McCall.
Noah audibly snorted, amused by his son's answer, but covered it with an awkward cough when McCall gave him a glare. "Stiles, just answer the man."
"We made a good guess," Stiles said finally, wrapping his arm back around Olivia's shoulders. She closed her tired eyes and rested her head in the crook of his neck, inhaling and relaxing at the scent that was pure him. Stiles always smelt so good, like sandalwood and musk and minty gum.
Agent McCall set his sights on Scott and Kira. "What were the two of you doing?"
"Eating pizza," Scott answered at the same time as Kira spoke, "Eating sushi."
Olivia rolled her eyes but didn't bother opening them; couldn't they have gotten their story straight before McCall started questioning them?
Scott and Kira glanced at each other awkwardly and cleared their throats.
"Eating sushi."
"Eating pizza."
Jesus Christ.
"Eating sushi and pizza," they finally said together.
Olivia opened her eyes just as McCall looked back at Noah in disbelief. "Do you believe this?"
"To be honest, I haven't believed a word Stiles has said since he learned how to speak," Noah spoke candidly, ignoring the offended gasp Stiles gave in response. "But I think these kids found themselves in the right place at the right time and that girl sitting there is very lucky for it."
"Kira," all heads turned to her when Agent McCall addressed her. "is that how you remember it?"
At once, Stiles, Olivia, and Lydia leaned forward to stare at Kira, giving her their own keep-your-mouth-shut looks. Kira only hesitated for a second before she answered him. "Yes...Could I get my phone back now?"
The police hadn't taken the rest of their phones, but apparently Barrow had started videoing Kira while in the power station. It was officially evidence. Which meant...
"Sorry, but no," McCall refused her as he stood from his seat on Noah's desk. "All right, I think that's it for now. If I have anymore questions, I'll get in touch with you. Kira, a deputy is going to take you home but we'll need you to fill out some paperwork first."
Olivia sighed in relief once they were ushered out of Noah's office. Sticking close to Stiles and Lydia and as they exited the police station, she pulled out her phone. She needed to call Isaac and see if he was okay. Because while Scott and Stiles were in danger with Barrow, Isaac had some other trouble that he had gone into.
-
There was no electricity pulsing through Beacon Hills unless it came from a generator. Despite this, the students of Beacon Hills High still had to attend their regular classes. Though the sun provided some light in the dark hallways and classrooms, everyone was still bathed in shadows and had to resort to their phones for flashlights if it was too dark for them.
Thankfully, Olivia's house had a generator that ran long enough for the food in their refrigerator to stay fresh and their phones to stay charged. She didn't want to be one of those people, but she would be seriously lost without her phone.
"Class starts in five minutes," Coach boomed through his trusty megaphone as he walked past Stiles' locker where he and Olivia stood before classes started. "Just because there's no power don't expect there to be no school."
Olivia looked up from her phone to narrow her eyes at him, knowing that something was off with that sentence.
"That was a triple negative," Stiles called out as he dug through his locker. "Very impressive, Coach."
"Copy that!"
Olivia snickered and shifted so she was leaning on her side at the lockers next to Stiles'. "Your relationship with Coach is so intriguing."
Stiles chuckled at her, smirking. "What, like how madly in love we are?"
"Exactly," Olivia laughed while pointing a manicured finger at him. "So, am I considered the side chick, or...?"
"Actually, you are," Stiles nodded seriously. "By the way, on a completely unrelated note, I have to cancel tonight's plans. I'm busy..."
"You're gonna Netflix and Chill with Coach? Damn..."
Stiles' amused face immediately creased into one of disgust. "Okay, gross. We took it too far."
Olivia laughed, her heart racing when Stiles gave into his amusement and chuckled along with her.
"Speaking of tonight," Olivia said when their laughter died down. "I'm kinda, sorta, throwing a party?"
Stiles blinked at her in shock. "You hate parties."
"But I don't hate Danny and every year he throws a Halloween party," she explained. "Jackson's not here to help him out and now with the power out, he doesn't have a place, so Lydia and I offered our house because we have the generators."
"At least I'll finally be invited to one of Danny's parties," Stiles paused and looked down at her with wide eyes. "I am invited, right?" when Olivia teasingly grimaced; Stiles' jaw dropped in offense. "Livvy!"
"Of course you're invited, sweetcheeks," Olivia rolled her eyes at him and shifted closer to him in order to wrap her hands around his right arm. "I was just teasing you."
"I have a fragile heart, you can't tease me about that kind of stuff," Stiles ducked down so he could whisper in her ear, his lips grazing against her skin. Olivia shivered and tightened her grip on him. "You know, unless we're alone, hopefully in a bed, though I wouldn't be against a shower or the back of Roscoe..."
Olivia held back her gasp but biting her lip. "But your fragile heart...?"
Stiles chuckled and quickly pressed his warms lips against the sensitive spot behind her ear. "You caught me. My heart's fine, it just beats really fast in your presence so I thought I might have a heart condition."
"You're so fucking cheesy, Stiles Stilinski," she giggled and lightly pushed him away from her. In the process, Stiles' backpack brushed against his locker, making his keys fall to the floor. "Oops, sorry."
"It's fine—and you love my cheesiness, by the way," Stiles winked at her and then bent to retrieve his key ring. He paused when he noticed a key that he didn't recognize. "Hello, where did you come from?"
"What, the key?" Stiles nodded at her; Olivia shrugged. "Maybe your dad put it on there. Oh, there's Scott."
Stiles, who was about to disagree with her about the key, turned around to see his best friend stepping into school. He waved at him, but Scott's focus was not on Stiles or Olivia. No, Scott was staring at Kira, who was at her locker down the hall. Before Scott could even take another step in her direction, Stiles quickly intervened.
"No, no, stop, stop," he directed Scott over to Olivia by his locker.
Scott gave him a disgruntled look. "What? I need to talk to her."
"No, you need to remember someone left a coded message telling Barrow to kill her," Stiles corrected him.
Olivia sighed. To be honest, she was with Scott on this one. Kira had a serial bomber go after her and try to kill her, and though she was mysteriously able to survive an astounding electric blast, Kira was a sweet girl and they needed to check up on her. It was out of the norm for her, she was fully aware, but since Kira was like them—at least, she was supernatural—maybe she needed friends, or a pack, to help her along. Olivia and Scott were willing to extend that olive branch.
"That's why he needs to talk to her, Stiles."
Stiles gave her a betrayed look. "Don't take his side!" he looked at her and Scott sternly. "Guys, until we figure out if she's just another psychotic monster that's going to start murdering everybody, I vote against any and all interaction."
"Stiles, she uses an elephant backpack, for crying out loud," Olivia rolled her eyes. "Does that seem psychotic to you?"
Stiles cocked his head, seriously considering her question. Before he could answer, Scott spoke, "What if she's like me?"
Scott's comment seemed to make up Stiles' mind. "That girl walked through 1.21 gigawatts of electricity," he pointed out, annoyed, and slammed his locker shut. "She's not like you."
Olivia turned her head toward Kira's locker. Kira seemed nervous, as though she could feel their eyes on her, as she rummaged through her locker. Quickly, she grabbed a textbook, shut her locker, and walked away, glancing back at them only once.
"Maybe Stiles is right," Olivia gave in, looking over at Scott. "Werewolves can't take that level of electricity. So...until we find out what Kira is, maybe you need to give her some space."
Stiles gave her a proud look while Scott sighed and shook his head. "Fine," he finally agreed. "Let's go to class."
Together, they walked to physics class. Today was the first day that Olivia's aunt, Natalie, would be taking over Mr. Harris' classes. Olivia was very proud of her aunt and excited to be able to learn from her, as she usually didn't have time to sit down and discuss the sciences with her whilst at her previous job at the local television station. No longer would they have subpar substitute teachers trying to teach them about higher levels of science—if Olivia was going to be challenged for the rest of the year, she needed a real science guy and Natalie more than fit the bill.
"Scott, Stiles," Natalie greeted the boys when they passed her to find their shared table. "Olivia, sweetheart, can we talk?"
"Sure, Aunt Nat," Olivia stepped aside to allow her classmates to walk into the room. "What's up? Are you nervous for your first class? Because you don't have to be. You're gonna be amazing."
Natalie smiled gratefully. "Well, thank you, Liv, but that's not what I wanted to talk about. I know we discussed the party at the house tonight, but Sherry's house doesn't have power, so I was hoping we could have book club at our house. We're the only ones with working generators..."
Olivia smiled to hide her disappointment. "Don't worry about it, Aunt Nat. I'm sure book club will be fun. I have to go talk to Danny, though..."
"Of course," Natalie nodded. "I have to pass out these worksheets anyway."
Olivia gave her aunt one last smile before scurrying over to the lab table where Danny was seated. Usually she and Lydia were lab partners and Danny shared with Aiden, but they could handle a switch for one day. She clambered onto the lab stool next to Danny, and gave Lydia, who was seated at the table in front of them, a significant look. Lydia could read her easily and since she knew about the party plans, she was able to realize that something was going on.
"You're my lab partner today, huh?" Danny gave Olivia a confused look.
"It's because I have bad news. We can't use my house tonight, my aunt's having book club."
Danny visibly deflated. "So we have no venue?"
"Do we know of another place that's big enough for a party and has generators?" Olivia mused. The only other place that she, personally, could think of was Derek's loft. Derek would never go for it, would he? "Wait a second..."
Every Halloween, since Derek was around fourteen, his mom, Talia, would take him and Laura to a showing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. It was very shocking that Derek enjoyed such an event, but he never failed to go each year, even after Talia died. Olivia had been with to the show with her cousins once, and though she liked the movie, she didn't much enjoy being surrounded by strangers who sang louder than the actors or threw stuff at the screen.
Yes, she was entirely aware that she was a party-pooper, thank you very much. The point was that Derek wouldn't be at the loft, as the nearest showing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show was an hour away. He'd be gone all night and would be none the wiser of a party.
Danny perked up, seeing the scheming look on her face. "You have a plan, don't you?"
"I know a place where we can have your party."
She pulled out her phone to text Derek.
Ollie: Are you still going to Rocky Horror?
Derek: Yeah, why?
Ollie: Jw. Have fun and be safe!

When Stiles thought about how his Halloween was supposed to go, he certainly hadn't thought of today's events. He'd been expecting a scary movie marathon with Olivia by his side, allowing him to hide his head in her neck at the scary parts. He'd been expecting them to hand out candy to trick-or-treaters that stumbled upon the Sheriff's house because the Stilinski's always gave out the best candy in their neighborhood.
He wasn't, however, expecting a rave at Derek's loft—that Olivia helped plan, by the way—or helping Scott and Kira break into the police station.
When Scott had approached Stiles, asking for help get into the police station, he had immediately said no. Agent Jackass McCall was already trying to get his dad impeached, and there was no way he was taking part in any plot that could get Noah into even more trouble. Unfortunately, he felt obligated to change his tune when Scott told him exactly why he and Kira needed to break into Agent McCall's office.
Apparently Kira had already known that something was off with her before the Barrow incident. She had taken a picture of herself and found a sort of aura around her, one that definitely couldn't be explained if you didn't know about the supernatural happenings in the world. Now that McCall had Kira's phone, he had access to that picture and they absolutely could not let him know about the supernatural side to Beacon Hills, let alone his son's current nature.
So, instead of helping Olivia, Danny, and the twins set up the rave at Derek's loft, he was stuck playing sidekick. Fun. Yeah, it was totally what he wanted to do on Halloween.
Bitterly, he chewed up the rest of the Snickers bar he had been snacking on and threw the wrapper away in the small bin he kept in the backseat of his jeep. When he turned back, facing the front, he saw Scott and Kira pull up on Scott's bike.
All right, here we go.
It wasn't that Stiles didn't like Kira—honestly, he didn't know enough about her to like or dislike her—but he certainly didn't trust her. After everything they went through since Scott was bitten by Peter, how was he supposed to trust anyone new? Especially when she happened to be immune to electricity and instantly took a shining to Scott.
Stiles grabbed the station keycards that he had sneakily copied from Noah and handed them to Scott one by one. "Okay, this one will get you into all of the perimeter doors," he passed another one. "this one into the evidence room, and this one's for my father's office."
Scott looked at him, alarmed. "You didn't steal these, did you?"
"No, I cloned them using the RFID emulator."
It was clear that Scott nor Kira had no idea what he was talking about. "Is that worse than stealing?"
Stiles rolled his eyes; the two of them had done a lot worse than stealing before. "It's smarter."
Scott nodded, his lips quirking up, impressed by Stiles' actions but he was quickly pulled away by Kira. "Scott, can I ask you something?"
Stiles narrowed his eyes at her. That wasn't suspicious at all. "Okay, I'll just...wait here..."
Luckily, Kira and Scott's conversation was brief. They joined him back at the jeep, Kira smiling widely up at him. "Okay."
"Okay," Stiles mimicked her, raising his eyebrows as he glanced between her and Scott. "So, now almost everybody's out dealing with the blackout, but there's always somebody at the front desk, dispatch and usually a night shifter or two," he pointed at the only door in the alley where he and Scott parked. "You guys are gonna use the service door entrance by the dumpster, all right? Nobody uses it."
Scott and Kira glanced at the service door and nodded obediently.
"Now, I'll text you if anyone comes out," Stiles continued. "But, Scott, if you get caught, I can't help you. My dad's under investigation for an impeachment because of your dad, so if anything happens, I will run and leave you both for dead."
Kira blinked and smiled nervously at him while Scott nodded, knowing how serious he was. "I got it. Seriously, dude, thanks."
Stiles pressed his lips together and nodded. "I'd ask my dad, but you know..."
"No, I know," Scott assured him earnestly. "I get it."
"All right, just, uh, hurry up," Stiles waved them off. "Be careful."
Scott and Kira scurried off and once they were inside, Stiles let a big sigh of relief. Hopefully they'd have no trouble and get in and out after deleting the pictures on Kira's phone. However, a part of him knew that it wouldn't be that simple. When were they ever given the easy way out? The answer was that they didn't; they had notoriously bad luck.
Stiles waited silently, impatiently fiddling with his key ring. He tossed them round and round his index finger until he caught sight of the key he had noticed earlier at school. He didn't know what it was for and he knew the purpose for all of his keys. He had his house keys, his jeep keys, his dad's car keys, Scott's house keys, and even Olivia's house keys...but this key? Well, he had never seen it before and it was bugging him out. How could he not remember putting a new key on his key ring? How else would it have gotten there?
Bright headlights seared his eyes for a moment as a vehicle pulled into the alleyway behind the station. He didn't know who it was that had parked there until the headlights went off and the man got out of his car; Stiles would recognize that tall, lanky figure anywhere.
Fucking asshole, he cursed to himself as McCall rounded the front of his car. Fuck, Scott, where are you? Come on. Oh, fuck it. Fuck, fuck, fuck.
Despite telling Scott upfront that he would leave him and Kira, he couldn't do it.
"Fuck," he opened his door and jumped out as McCall entered the station. "I'm go going to regret this."
He quickly ran around the building, entering only a few seconds after Agent McCall flashed his badge to the deputy at the front desk.
"Hey, hey!" he called, waving to the workers at the desk before catching up to McCall. "Wow!" he exclaimed when the agent turned to face him, confused. "Thank God you are here. Oh, boy! Thank the lord!"
As always, Agent McCall was not impressed with his antics. "What do you want, Stiles?"
Shit, now he had to come up with something to talk about. "I was...I was just...I was thinking on the case," he blurted out nervously, his absentminded thoughts taking over for him. "I was thinking I should clue you in on my thinking. Here's my thinking, I was thinking this..."
He grimaced at the annoyed glare McCall was giving him. "I was thinking that Barrow, right...I was thinking that Barrow received the information about who to kill at the school, right, you know that?" he was fully aware he was rambling but the more his brain worked, the better he felt about this excuse of a conversation. "So, I was thinking that maybe the person who gave him that information—check this out—might actually be someone at the school."
Agent McCall raised his eyebrows and Stiles laughed awkwardly, poking his chest. "And that's, uh, my thinking."
McCall hummed for a moment, eyeing him suspiciously Stiles honestly thought that he was caught and he had just given him the very reason to fire Noah, but then the older man spoke. "You're right."
"I am?!"
"Yeah, we, uh...we started looking for links between Barrow, faculty, and students last night," McCall informed him.
"So you already, then, know that stuff?" McCall nodded at Stiles' question. "You already thought of that."
"Your dad did," McCall shared, his mouth twisting into a disapproving smirk. "His one useful suggestion."
A storm cloud of rage bubbled in Stiles' gut as McCall went to enter the bullpen. He was so fucking sick of this man coming around and ruining everyone's lives just because his sucked so bad. McCall made his bed and instead of laying in it, he was destroying everyone else's.
Without thinking, Stiles firmly grabbed McCall's arm, stopping him from entering the bullpen. "You know, this attitude that you have toward my dad? You can dress it up to all the professional disapproval that you want, but I know the real reason you don't like him."
McCall chuckled sarcastically, sending Stiles deeper into his silent fury. "Is that so?"
"Yeah," his voice lowered threateningly, his nostrils flaring angrily. "because he knows something that you don't want him to know. And guess what?" his whisper took on a sing-song tune before quickly diving into a hard whisper. "I know it too."
McCall swallowed uncomfortably and a thrill went through Stiles as he congratulated himself on being able to intimidate an FBI agent who was trying to fuck up his dad's life. "Go home, Stiles. There's a curfew."
Stiles smirked as McCall pulled himself from his grasp and stepped around him, clearing his throat awkwardly as he entered the bullpen. Without another word, he left the police station, riding the high that the whole interaction had caused him.
He waited only a few minutes by his jeep until Scott and Kira ran out of the building, huge smiles on their faces.
"We did it," Scott told him enthusiastically. "All the pics are deleted."
"That was awesome!" Kira crowed, bouncing in place. "I mean, terrifying, completely terrifying...but kind of awesome! I've never done anything like that before. Have you guys?"
Stiles snorted and shared an amused look with Scott. "Yeah, once or twice."
Scott grinned back at him and then sighed, looking to Kira. "I guess I should take you home."
It was very clear to Stiles that Scott didn't want to stop hanging out with Kira. They were obviously having a good time and, really, what trouble could they get up to at a party? Olivia liked Kira, too—as much as he could like someone that she hadn't really hung out with—so it wasn't like Kira would be unwanted at the rave.
"Hey," he patted Scott's shoulder pointedly. "Don't forget, Livvy's throwing that party at Derek's loft."
"Oh, yeah," Scott perked up and glanced back at Kira. "You wanna go?"
Kira smiled shyly—that was all the answer the boys needed.
-
Olivia was only a little tipsy.
She was being responsible tonight—well, as responsible as one could get while throwing a party at your cousins loft while they're out of town—and not drinking as much as Danny. He needed to have fun and relax a bit, and while Olivia wanted to have fun too, she didn't need alcohol to do so.
The only reason she was drinking at all was because Lydia had begged her to take a couple of shots with her and it seemed socially unacceptable to not drink a beer at your own party.
So, yeah, she was feeling a little bit buzzed but not enough to feel it in the morning. She knew her limits and she wasn't the type of person to go over them.
All around her, people were dancing, drinking, and having fun with neon paint dripped all over their bodies. The black lights that she, Danny, Ethan, and Aiden put up around the loft made everyone glow in the dark and with the pumping of the loud music that the awesome deejay that Danny hired played, it was enough to make anyone excited. She didn't even like most parties and she was having a great time. Besides, after what Beacon Hills went through with stupid Jennifer and the million human sacrifices, they needed a time to let loose.
So, even though she normally couldn't stand Aiden—or Lydia spending time with him, for that matter—she couldn't help but smirk when she saw him and Lydia dancing up on each other. No doubt Lydia was trying to keep her mind off of Scott and his newfound crush on Kira by focusing on the former alpha. It wasn't the best way to deal, but who was Olivia to tell Lydia how to live her life? Lydia was completely capable of taking care of herself.
"I cannot believe that Olivia Martin threw a party," her attention was caught by Allison as she and Isaac walked over to her. "at her cousin's loft, no less."
Isaac laughed and added, "I'm guessing Derek can never know about this?"
"Maybe in a couple of years," Olivia quickly wrapped her arms around them in a short group hug. "How are you doing, Isaac? You never got back to me."
She didn't like the way that Isaac and Allison immediately shared a loaded look with one another, as if debating on how to answer her question. She wasn't dumb, she knew they were hiding something. Why, she didn't know.
Isaac knew that she wouldn't give up and though he knew he owed her some sort of explanation, he had promised Allison and her dad to keep his mouth shut for twenty-four hours. "Enjoy the party, Liv. I'll tell you after."
"Promise, both of you?" Olivia gave the two of them a serious look.
Allison grinned while Isaac nodded, both of them speaking together. "Promise."
"All right, fine. Why don't you guys get something to drink?" Olivia glanced around the group of dancing bodies before pointing out where the bartender was set up. "Oh, and get painted up, too."
"Yes, ma'am," Isaac hooked Allison's fingers with his and pulled her away, pointedly ignoring the amused look their friend sent their way.
Olivia shook her head, eyes following Isaac and Allison as they slipped into the crowd. She should have known something was going on there, but she guessed she had been a little preoccupied with everything else going on in their lives. Still...Allison and Isaac? Yeah, she could see it. Allison was badass and strong and she was the firm ground of support that Isaac needed and Isaac was light and funny and could definitely get Allison to let loose. They complimented each other, they were cute.
They didn't need her approval whatsoever, but they had it anyway.
Out of nowhere, a sharp pulse came from Derek's tether before fading away. Olivia paused, her hand on her chest, and focused in on him. He was fine now, but it was odd, they way he lit up and went dark so soon after. Right now, it didn't concern her. Maybe he almost missed a red light or something...
Thoughts about Derek slipped away as she spotted the loft door opening. She recognized the neon-striped t-shirt that Stiles had worn to school earlier that day, and was instantly on her way toward him. She was tipsy, she wanted to have fun, and her hot-ass boyfriend had just entered the premises. There was no way she was just going to stand there and wait for him to come to her.
She made her way through the jungle of her drunk classmates, her eyes never leaving Stiles. As she got closer, she heard Scott—who was with Kira—asking him about leaving so they could figure something out. Before Stiles could respond, she was grabbing his arm, turning him and standing on her tiptoes so she could kiss him on the cheek.
"Happy Halloween, sweetcheeks," she purred into his ear, giving him a seductive look before letting him go.
"It can wait, it can wait!" Stiles shouted at Scott over the music. As Olivia began to slip away, he grabbed her hand so she would take him with her. "See ya!"
Olivia smirked knowingly when Stiles tightened his grip on her hand and abruptly pulled, swiftly turning her to face him. "Look at you, baby."
She was fully aware of what her outfit would do to him. Other than the fact she thought she was hot, she knew that her short, flowy shorts, and neon orange bralette would turn him on. And the body paint brushed all over her, well, that was just a bonus. "You like?"
"I love it. You're so fucking hot," he pulled her closer to him, their fronts pressed together; Olivia instantly grabbed his biceps, not fighting when he smashed their lips together.
It had been about a month since Olivia and Stiles had sex because of their busy lives. Of course, they did other things when they were in the mood but they never had time to go all the way again. Both of them were feeling the strain; they were crazy in love and so terribly attracted to one another, so of course, hormones were always pulsing through them. That night, they reached a pinnacle of tension that they couldn't ignore.
Within minutes, Olivia and Stiles found themselves upstairs in the bedroom Olivia used when she stayed over at Derek's loft. The both of them completely ignored the full-sized mattress in favor of the back of the door that Stiles pressed her up against, the wood soothingly cool against her back.
Stiles' hair was a mess under Olivia's fingers as she lost herself in his mouth, tongues wrestling together in a fight that neither of them wanted to lose—or win, for that matter. Stiles' palms were hot against her thighs, pushing her up until her legs wrapped around his waist, and when they moved tantalizingly slow to her ass and squeezed her cheeks, she gasped and arched her chest against him.
"Shit, Stiles!"
"Mmhm," Stiles moaned against her lips as her movement pressed deliciously against his cock. Slowly, he kissed away from her mouth and down her jaw to her neck, sucking harshly against the smooth and silky skin he found there. He loved the way she reacted to him, pushing herself against him again as she groaned under his demonstrations. "Livvy."
An indescribable warmth curled in Olivia's belly as she and Stiles rubbed up against one another. Letting go of his hair, she moved one hand down the length of Stiles' body to the band of his jeans. She easily popped the button and took a second to play with the wiry hair of his happy trail, knowing that it would lead her right to paradise.
"Mm...want you, baby," Stiles abruptly pulled away from her neck to stare at her with blown eyes. "Can I have you?"
Olivia didn't need to think about it. She wanted him just as much as he wanted her. "'Course, babe."
A wickedly sexy grin split Stiles' lips and Olivia's head nearly hit the door with how forcefully he kissed her. She was so caught up in their kiss that she didn't notice Stiles using one hand to pull her bralette down, freeing her breasts; it wasn't until he pulled away from the kiss and wrapped his lips about her right nipple when she realized. She moaned loudly, the pitch arcing higher when Stiles pushed his left thigh between hers to take some of her weight so she could grind down on him.
"Fuck, Stiles."
Stiles playfully bit at her nipple in response, prompting a pleasured sigh that turned more intense when he sucked at her. Shit, he felt so fucking good.
"Please..."
Stiles pulled away from her breast, licking his lips, and smirked up at her. "Please what, baby?"
Olivia's chest heaved as she breathed, "Please fuck me."
In a rapid succession of movements, broken up by awkward giggles, loving kisses, and whispered promises under their breath, Stiles and Olivia stripped from the rest of their clothes. The heat turned back on once Olivia's panties were officially out of the way and Stiles took it to his advantage, playing with her clit with the pad of his thumb.
Olivia moaned and ducked her head into his neck, her mouth finding traction between his neck and collarbone.
"Ready?"
"Mmhm."
Both of them moaned together as Stiles slipped into her with one single thrust. Quick to find a rhythm, they moved their hips together, taking pleasure from one another that was freely given.
"So fucking good, baby," Stiles groaned into her collarbone, gently nipping the skin there. By now, some of the neon paint on Olivia's body was starting to rub off on him and boy, did he not mind. They were like some kind of sexy painting together, they could totally be in a museum. "Love you."
"I love you," Olivia returned, arching back when he hit a particularly good spot inside of her.
She gasped when he licked from her collarbone all the way up to her chin before uniting their lips. Pressing her up against the door so most of her weight was resting on it, Stiles moved one hand to hold her jaw, keeping her lips on his, and the other to her clit, rubbing it firmly.
"S-Stiles..."
"You gonna come for me, baby? Huh?" he dragged his lips over to her ear, whispering to her with hot and heavy breaths. "C'mon, baby. Come with me."
The coil of pleasure that had been starting to build since she first kissed Stiles that night was wound too tight. Even though it felt so, so good to stay on the edge while Stiles thrust in and out of her and played with her clit, heading over the precipice would be even better. That's just how orgasms with Stiles went: pleasure, pleasure, and more pleasure.
Moving her right hand from where it was attached to the firm muscles in Stiles' back, she grabbed the back of his head and pulled her back to her lips. Their moans harmonized together as they reached their peaks, coming within just seconds of each other with sharp sighs.
Ten minutes later, after waiting out their aftershocks and post-orgasm bliss, they cleaned themselves up, shared a few more kisses, and went back downstairs where the party was still going strong.
Reminiscent of their first dance together, Stiles pulled Olivia onto the dance floor. They made fools of themselves as they danced crazily together, pulling out silly dance moves from the blue. The goofy grins on their faces told outsiders how madly in love they were and the warmth inside their chests proved it to themselves—not that they had any doubt, either way.
Before long, Stiles mentioned how thirsty he was, so they scored a couple of beers off the bartender and went to sit down.
"Let me see your bottle opener," Olivia held her palm out to Stiles expectantly, knowing that he kept one on his key ring.
"Oop," Stiles rummaged through his jean pocket and pulled the key ring out, handing it over to her. "Here ya go."
"Thanks," she detached the caps from their bottles and paused, her eyes lingering on his keys when she went to give them back to him. "You know, your key has phosphors on it."
Stiles furrowed his eyebrows. "Phosphors? What the hell is that?"
Olivia rolled her eyes and smiled patiently at him. "It's any substance that luminesces," she told him. "It's in your teeth and your fingernails, laundry detergent, this paint," she brushed her thumb against his lips, where some of the leftover lipstick she had one glowed against his flesh. "this..."
Stiles cut her off, urgently smashing his mouth to hers. Her stomach flipped pleasantly as she kissed back. After a few seconds they pulled away, both of them inhaling deeply.
"It reacts to the UV light," she finished, breathing heavily. "that's why it glows."
"How would I get phosphors on my key?"
"Probably lots of ways," Olivia shrugged carelessly. "You could have touched them after chemistry class, or after you washed your clothes..." she trailed off when she saw the frown playing at his lips. "Stiles, are you okay?"
Stiles forced a smile. "Yeah, yeah...um...I'm sorry, I just thought of something and I really have to go."
"What?" Olivia was understandably confused. "Stiles, what are you talking about?"
"I want to stay, I really do, cause I love you and you're so fucking beautiful," Stiles rambled quickly, standing up and setting his beer bottle down on the floor. "but I need to go see something, so you stay here, okay. I love you. Drink a bottle of water, okay?"
"Stiles, wait—"
"Love you, be careful!" he called, slipping away before she could stand and go after him.
"Stiles!"
Olivia wanted to follow him, she really did. She knew something was bothering him and she wanted to know what it was so she could help him. But before she could chase after him, Lydia's tether flared brightly and disappeared just like Derek's had before. Just like Isaac's had the night before, which could not be a coincidence.
Worriedly, she dived into Lydia's tether and looked for her. In a daze, she started walking, not even noticing when Danny had started to follow her, worriedly calling out her name.
"Liv, what are you doing? Olivia!"
Lydia, Lydia, Lydia...
She opened the door that led to Derek's balcony and paused when she saw her cousin laying still on the ground, her fingers seizing lightly. "Lydia!" she rushed to her and knelt down, finally noticing Danny. "Go get Aiden, hurry!"
"I'm so sorry, Lyds," she murmured, using all her strength to pull Lydia into her lap. She wrapped her arms tightly around the shivering red head and dug her head into her neck. "It's gonna be okay. You're gonna be fine."
What the hell happened to Lydia? What had attacked her and left her freezing on the balcony, unable to move or call for help? Whatever it was, was this the thing that got Derek and Isaac?
It was only a minute before Aiden and Danny rushed back out to her and Lydia.
"What happened?" Aiden asked as he knelt down next to the girls.
"I have no idea, but she's freezing," Olivia's eyes stung, feeling helpless, as she helped transfer Lydia to Aiden's warm arms. "I think she's hypothermic. We gotta get her inside."
Aiden nodded seriously and got to his feet, lifting Lydia with ease. "Let's go."
"Over here," Danny pointed to the nearest wall as they passed him to go back into the loft. "there's a heating vent!"
"Thank you, Danny," Olivia placed a grateful hand on his shoulder before following Aiden.
The former alpha set Lydia down in front of the heat register—thankfully the building used propane for heat, so the lack of electricity didn't affect it—and held her tightly, rocking her back in forth in order to get some heat back inside of Lydia. Olivia immediately started rubbing Lydia's bare legs, hoping that friction could offer some heat too.
"I'll try to find a blanket," Danny volunteered.
"Upstairs, the first door to the right," Olivia told him; he nodded and took off into the crowd. "Lydia," she called loudly so her cousin could hear her over the music. "Lyds, what happened? Can you tell me what happened?"
Lydia stared at her, wide-eyed, and gasped, "They came out of the dark."
"Who?" Aiden asked. "Who came out of the dark?"
"Lyds?"
"They—they looked like n-ninjas," Lydia stammered, her teeth chattering. "I—I couldn't scream, it took my scream."
Olivia and Aiden shared a dreadful look, both of them thinking the same thing. Shit.
Then, Olivia heard it, the ferocious growl that filled up her whole mental map. Derek's tether lit up brilliantly as he called out for her and Scott. It was then that she realized that she had horribly screwed up, ignoring his tether earlier. She could have done something if she just took her warnings of Derek and Isaac's injuries seriously. She was a horrible person.
"Derek!"
Aiden looked at her sharply. "This happened to Derek too?"
"I think so."
Danny quickly came back with a blanket and draped it over Lydia's shoulders. Though the redhead was still kind of out of it, she was slowly warming back up to the point where Olivia felt a little better about her health. Just as she was about to suggest they move Lydia to her room, the music was abruptly cut off.
"GET OUT!"
Yeah, that was definitely Derek. Olivia was so fucking screwed.
At once, the crowd started running for the door. Olivia helped Aiden get Lydia to her feet and let Danny take some of her weight. "Can you take her home please? I'll deal with this."
Danny nodded, giving a very angry Derek a wary look. "Yeah, okay." And with that, he towed Lydia out of the loft, leaving only Olivia, Derek, Aiden, Ethan, Scott, Allison, Isaac, and Kira.
Well, there were the dark shadows that appeared out of nowhere, too. Just like Lydia had described them, they looked like ninja assassins, with silver masks and glowing yellow eyes draped in black robes.
In unison, the robed ninjas took a step toward Aiden and Olivia, their glowing eyes glaring at them.
"Guys," Aiden called to the rest of the pack, reaching for Olivia to move her behind him. "Guys, they're looking at us. Why are they all looking at us, guys?"
"Ollie, go!"
Olivia didn't hesitate, taking Derek's warning. She ran away from where Aiden stood toward Isaac, Allison, and Ethan, who was leaning heavily against them. At the same time, Derek and Scott attacked, turning as they went to fight the dark ninjas.
Olivia focused on Derek, watching with a grimace as she realized that the ninjas were much better than him and Scott at combat. Sure, Derek had experience and strength, but these guys that came from the shadows seemed unbeatable. At one point, Derek had even snapped one's neck, only for it to pop back in place.
Derek was not doing well in his fight, his tether pulsing brightly, and neither was Scott. Once they were both on the floor, tapped out, Isaac stepped in, sharpening his nails into claws as Olivia took the rest of Ethan's weight to help Allison.
Isaac growled at one of the ninjas but the being did not look at all intimidated. In fact, he pulled a long, sharp sword from the middle of his chest and held it out toward Isaac, swinging it around threateningly. Smartly, Isaac stepped back—protecting Aiden, of all people, was not worth the sword to his stomach.
The ninja turned away from Isaac, facing Aiden like the others.
"Someone do something!" Allison called out, looking between Scott and Derek.
It was too late. Two ninjas grabbed Aiden's arms and held him still while a third stood in front of him. He looked into the former alpha's eyes and cocked his head, reaching up to grab a hold of his ear. A rattling noise came from its chest as it used one strict flick to make a mark behind Aiden's ear; Aiden immediately collapsed onto the floor, looking much like Lydia had when Olivia had found her.
Another step and all the ninjas were looking at her.
"Oh, shit."
Scott raced in front of her, Ethan, and Allison, growling fiercely at the beings. Before any of them could take a step forward, the sun began to shine through the large window. With only a touch of the rays against the ninja's, they disappeared in a black mist.
Finding his strength, Ethan left Allison and Olivia's grasp to run across the room to his brother. At the same time, Olivia went over to Derek, helping him up from the floor and wrapping an arm around his torso to keep him upright.
"What the hell were those things?" Scott asked, looking around the room for any answer.
None of them knew...except maybe Allison and Isaac.
Isaac stepped forward, glancing at Allison. "Your dad's twenty-four hours are up."

Chapter 1.8 - Pigtown’s Shadow
Both Marlon and Jimmy had been reluctant when Kyle had suggested going out to a club that night. It wasn’t that they were bothered by the idea of going out, or drinking underage, it was that in their opinion, gay clubs were passé. Who went out to a club anymore? It seemed like such an anachronism. If you wanted to meet a guy, you got on tinder. If you wanted to get a drink or party, there were way more exciting places to do it than with a bunch of gay guys. But with enough badgering they relented, climbed into Jimmy’s car, and headed downtown to Depot.
But now, Jimmy and Marlon were converts. The sheer energy and vitality in the room was unlike anything they’d felt before, and by far, the strangest and most thrilling part was that in Depot they were normal. Growing up in the wealthy suburbs, going to wealthy schools, they were all part of the same upper class as the rest of their peers, and for the most part, the homophobia they’d faced was minimal in the liberal culture. But while they weren’t hated, they weren’t normal, either. They’d never really thought about all the ways they were constantly pressured to conform and tone themselves down, so that the people around them--the straight people--didn’t have reasons to be afraid of them. To hate them.
But here, they weren’t just normal, if anything, they were boring. The makeup, the bodies, the sex, all of it. The energy was infectious, and by the time last call came around, the two of them were amazed to discover that hours had passed and felt like no time at all. That, and Kyle was nowhere to be found. They checked their phone and found his message saying he’d gone home already, and they chuckled at that. The guy who had been so eager to come out had left early, and here they were, still having fun.
In an effort to be responsible, Jimmy hadn’t had a drink since that first one, but Marlon had gone back to the bar for a few more as the night progressed. He wasn’t falling over wasted, but he was more than a bit drunk, enough that as they walked down the sidewalk towards where they’d parked the car, he was leaning on Jimmy for some support. It was cute, Jimmy thought. Looking around, the streets were emptier than he’d ever seen, and it was a little unnerving. As they got closer to the car, he also had the distinct sensation that something was watching them.
He paused, and Marlon almost fell over. “What’s up?”
Jimmy looked behind them, but there was no one there that he could see--but oddly enough, from the corner they’d come around, to a couple of yards away, all of the street lights had gone out. And not just the streetlights--every light on the street. About twenty yards away, everything just went completely black, which shouldn’t even be possible. There was still light around, after all--but it was like something was just absorbing all of it. As he stared into it, trying to look and see what might be in there, another street light flickered and went out, leaving just two between them and the void.
“Come on Jimmy, what’s up?”
“Doesn’t that seem strange to you?” he said, pointing into the darkness. “Those were all lit up a second ago.”
“Everything around here is falling apart man, it’s not that strange,” Marlon said. He tried to stand up on his own, but ended up stumbling over and leaning against the side of the building.
“Hello there, boys, how’s the night?” The voice came from the doorway not far from where Marlon was leaning. The space was dark, the same kind of shadowdark as the street they’d come from. A man in full black leather stepped out onto the sidewalk, the only bit of skin visible was the lower part of his face, and even that was obscured by a thick black beard. The band of his muir cap was pulled low, so his eyes were impossible to see. “You aren’t going home yet, are you? You know the night’s just getting started around here.”
“Actually, we are heading home, thanks,” Jimmy said, pulled Marlon over to him, and they kept walking down the street. As they passed under each street light ahead of them, it would flicker, and then go out as they crossed to the next. He looked behind them, but the man had slipped back into the darkness and was impossible to see. They were almost to the car, which was on the next block, and at least the guy seemed to be alone. But then, the light ahead of them flickered and went out leaving an empty hole in front of them. Jimmy pulled up short, but Marlon, whose head had been watching the sidewalk for cracks, stumbled on into the dark, and just...disappeared.
Jimmy just waited, expecting him to come back out, but there was nothing. Not even the sound of his footsteps, or of him breathing. He stepped closer to the edge of the light, when he heard something behind him. Boots on pavement. The stranger stepped out of the shadow again, right on the edge of the light. “Where’s your friend, boy? Wasn’t he just here?”
“Dude, get the fuck away from me, alright?”
“He just stumbled into the darkness, didn’t he? He can’t be that far away. Go on, just take a little step--you aren’t afraid of the dark, are you?”
The man stepped closer, looming over him, the dark behind him, the man before him. He edged his foot back, but he couldn’t...feel the sidewalk there, in the dark. He felt like he was being pushed to the edge of a pit.
“Jimmy?”
It was Marlon’s voice, but it seemed so far away. “Jimmy, where are you?” he replied.
“Right here Jimmy, I’m at the car. Come on, Jimmy, let’s go home, you have the keys.”
Another moment, and maybe he would have stepped back, and found out what was in the dark. But instead, a bright beam of light cut through the dark behind the man, and he winced, visibly, as though the light had hurt him.
“Fuck, is it another one of Shadow’s puppets? I thought we’d gotten them all!” someone shouted.
“He has someone cornered!”
The man in the leather, glowered. “A pity,” he said, straightened his coat, stepped past Jimmy into the dark, and like a switch, all of the lights came back on up and down the street. He blinked, and saw a couple of men running towards him with flashlights, and coming closer, he saw they were police officers. “Fuck, it’s just a kid,” one of them said.
Jimmy looked around for Marlon, but he wasn’t on the sidewalk. Looking further up, to the car, he wasn’t there either, that he could see. “M-Marlon?” he called out. “Marlon!”
“Hey, hey!” one of the officers grabbed him by the arm, and shone the light in his eyes. “What the fuck are you doing out here this time of night, kid?”
“I...My boyfriend and I, we were just going home!”
“What the fuck are you doing out here? God fucking damn it!”
“Give him a break Williams,” the other officer said, and pulled the other off him. Something seemed off about the two of them, somehow--they weren’t quite...right. They didn’t quite seem to have the build he would have expected from the police officers out in the suburbs. Their beards were longer and unkempt, their uniforms dirty and wrinkled. “Did you say your boyfriend?” the officer asked.
“Yeah, he...he stepped into the dark, and...and now I don’t know where he is.”
“Into the dark?” the officer said, “What do you mean ‘into’?”
“It was the shadows, I don’t know. The guy wanted me to go in too, but then you showed up.”
“I didn’t think any of his puppets could do that,” the other officer said, looking around.
“What’s your name, kid?” the nicer officer asked.
“Jimmy.”
“Alright Jimmy, I need you to listen to me,” he said, and locked eyes with him. A sense of calm washed over him, and the only thing that was keeping him standing was the officer’s firm hand on his shoulder. “Is that your car over there, kid?”
Jimmy nodded.
“You’re going to walk straight there, Jimmy. You’re going to get in, and drive home. What’s your boyfriend’s name?”
“M-Marlon.”
“You let us take care of Marlon. You don’t need to worry about him. You don’t need to think about him for a while, or wonder where he is. The most important thing for you to do now, is to go home, and don’t come back here, for Christ’s sake kid. Stay the fuck out of Pigtown if you know what’s best for you.”
Jimmy nodded, the officer looked away, and gave him a little push towards his car. Jimmy did as the officer said, went right to his car--half expecting that Marlon might be inside waiting for him, but he wasn’t. He drove himself home, and found himself staring at every shadow he passed, but they were all empty ,and normal. Not like that strange, deep darkness. Still, he kept a lamp on next to his bed all night long, not that he slept much. He might not have been afraid of the dark before--but he was now.

Fandom: Hannibal Pairing: Will Graham x Hannibal Lecter Warnings: Blood, Description of Gunshot and Stab Wounds, Hypothermia, Breaking and Entering, Angst, Hurt/Comfort, Eventual Injury Recovery Description: The water is freezing. Sucking the very life out of him as Hannibal swims to the surface. He sees Will close by, unconscious, and goes to him. Wraps an arm around him and begins to swim to the best of his abilities towards the shore. He's not sure he can make it. Weak from bloodless and the fight with Francis Dolarhyde. But he's going to try. Chapter: 1 - Die Like Star-crossed Lovers Authors Notes: So I finished the show and the muses popped up in my head screaming at me to write this so that’s what I did instead of sleeping the other night. Fic and Chapter titles come from the song Our Lady Of Sorrows by MCR. Read on AO3
~~~~~
Jack Crawford is the first agent on the scene.
He had expected the blood. The broken glass. The signs of a difficult struggle.
What he hadn’t expected was to find only a single corpse waiting for him when he arrived at Hannibal Lecter’s hidden little home by the sea.
Francis Dolarhyde lays torn and bloodied in the center of the little courtyard that stands between the back of the house from the cliff’s edge. Blood pooled around him like great terrible wings spread in flight. It only holds his attention for a moment before he continues his search for who he’s really interested in finding now that he knows the Dragon is dead.
“WILL! WILL CAN YOU HEAR ME?” he yells into the night, hoping the other man is still close by. The pool of blood surrounding Dolarhyde is already looking as though it’s frozen solid to the ground. It’s been a particularly cold night, and the wind off the ocean is amplifying its effects. Meaning he has no idea how long it’s been since Dolarhyde was killed. It could have been twenty minutes, or two hours ago for all he knows without more information from the forensics team.
Quick footsteps alert Jack of the other agents approaching from all sides. “Fan out! I want people searching the woods and the beaches nearby. And get an ambulance here, now. Both Graham and Lecter are likely injured and will require medical attention when we find them!” he orders as he follows thick trails of blood as well as a few bloodied shoe prints to the edge of the cliff. He looks down, shining a flashlight for a little extra illumination along with that provided by the slowly setting full moon. There’s no sign of any bodies in the water below, or on the rocks along the foot of the cliff that are peeking up from the water as the tide moves out. So that’s something at least.
“Sir, the dash-cam of the squad car was left recording this whole time,” an agent says as they approach from inside the house with cautious steps, trying not to disturb the scene of broken glass and bloody carpet.
“And?” Jack glances back at him, waiting for the agent to elaborate on the importance of that information.
“We’re pulling the footage now. The car had been positioned to get a full view of the house on camera. If they left on foot we’ll have an idea as to which way they went at the very least.” The agent looks nervous, knowing the alternative to leaving would be falling from the cliff into the freezing water below. This time of year that’s most definitely a death sentence. And with blood loss and possibly severe injuries on top of the freezing cold? A man wouldn’t stand a chance.
Jack nods his understanding and holsters his gun at last as he looks again at the blood that’s covering the ground. Streaks and pools of it cover the spacious courtyard. More than could have come from Dolarhyde alone if he had to guess. He definitely injured Will and Hannibal in their struggle. The question is, was it fatal for them as well, or only Dolarhyde?
~~~~~
Hannibal gasps for breath as he finally feels sand beneath his feet.
The water is so bitterly cold that he can barely feel his own body, let alone Will’s where he drags it with him through the churning waves of stinging saltwater.
Will went unconscious as they feel from the cliff. Maybe even before that. Hannibal isn’t quite sure. What he is sure of, is that the nearest house is still half a mile down the beach from where they’ve come ashore. And FBI agents will be arriving at his beach-side home sooner than later most likely, leaving no time to waste.
With a pained hiss, he pulls Will’s prone form onto the shore with him. Laying him out in the frigid night air a moment before mustering what strength he can in his sluggishly numb extremities and hauling him up into a carry with much more difficulty than he cares to admit to himself. Then, he walks, Will’s head tucked under his chin in a way that lets the blood still flowing from his mouth run down and be absorbed by their clothes. Keeping him from choking on it.
The waterfront homes in the area are empty along this particular stretch of the Chesapeake this time of year. It is both a boon and a curse upon their fortunes, as the odds of them getting away are contingent on what he finds in the nearest dwelling.
Turning his head, Hannibal can see the cliff that his old summer home sits upon. Sees the faint light that comes from the courtyard to cast out into the dark bluish-black of the night. The breeze picks up, sending an uncontrollable shiver through him, and he turns away to continue the difficult trudge through the sand. Will is heavy in his arms. Breathing shallowly as he too shivers almost violently from the harsh bite of winter, it’s effects no doubt amplified by blood loss.
The cottage they come to is smaller than his own. Tucked back into trees that block it from the view of his own dwelling less than a mile away. There are wooden lounge chairs set out in the back yard where it faces the water, and he rests Will on his side on one before searching for a key or some other means of entering the dwelling with as little disturbance to their surroundings as possible. He would prefer not to break anything if at all possible. Too likely to draw attention if any agents wander through searching for them.
The moonlight makes his search easier than expected, as it gleams off the shiny metal of a hidden key tucked under the rocking chair he tips over by the front door. Taking care, he rips off a piece of cloth from his ruined shirt and uses it to take the key and unlock the door.
To his surprise, the electricity is on when he tries the light switch. He grabs Will from the cold of the outside and lays him down on the sheet-covered couch before he moves to turn on just enough lights to see by without making it obvious someone is in the home to any passersby. \
He finds the door to the furnace, thankful it’s a simple electric one with a power switch. He gets that running before going to retrieve Will from where he set him on the couch.
They’re both hypothermic. Soaked to the bone with their clothes frozen to their skin in places thanks to the harsh bite of the ocean breeze. And worse yet, they’re both still bleeding sluggish from their wounds.
So, Hannibal does the rational thing to help them both warm up quickly. He finds towels and what clean clothes he can that might fit either of them. Once they’re gathered, and with increasing difficulty, he picks Will up once again and sets him in the tub before turning on the shower as hot as it will go.
Will doesn’t so much as flinch at the feel of the almost scalding spray hitting him. Body still shaking from the cold in his unconscious state. Hannibal watches him a moment before kicking off his shoes and picking him up just enough to climb into the tub behind him.
It’s uncomfortable at best. Too small a space for two men of their size to really fit together. But discomfort is worth it as the warmth quickly starts to seep into both of their extremities. It burns fiercely as it does so. Nerves flaring back to life where they had been shut down from the cold in the on-setting hypothermia.
Hannibal finds he somewhat likes the sensation. It distracts him ever so slightly from the pain in his side where the bullet went clean through him. And from his worries for Will, whom he now holds a cloth to the face of to staunch the bleeding where he had been stabbed just below his right eye. The blade clearly went in at an angle. Going through the bones and down to come out the roof of his mouth.
They stay in the all-consuming warmth of the water until Will’s shivering completely stops and the room fills with so much steam that breathing becomes almost difficult.
That’s when Hannibal finally reaches out and shuts off the spray, much to the protest of his aching body. He wants more than anything to simply close his eyes and join Will in unconsciousness. But that would be foolish. And likely deadly to one, if not both, of them.
He leaves Will in the tub, curled on his side with his head propped on the edge, and drags himself out onto the cool tiled floor. His capability for focus and rational thought is dwindling. He knows he needs to act quickly. They’ve both lost far too much blood and need more than just a few cloths pressed to the wounds to stop the flow.
There’s a sewing kit in the small linen closet next to the bathroom door. That along with the first aid kit from under the sink provide him just enough supplies for what he needs.
He strips Will of his sodden clothes first. Assessing the wound on his shoulder as well as the one in his mouth. He doesn’t have the tools needed to close that one. But he has enough gauze to pack the side of Will’s mouth for now. He does so and then stitches his cheek quickly and efficiently before moving on to his shoulder.
When he’s done he does the same with himself. The entrance wound on his back is clearly one he can’t stitch himself, the angle is just too difficult even for someone uninjured to attempt, but the exit wound on his abdomen is one he can close himself. He does his best to apply a makeshift pressure bandage to his back before wrapping an ace bandage around his waist tightly. When Will wakes later he can talk him through stitching the wound on his back, but for now, the bandage will have to do.
Glancing down at Will from his place seated on the edge of the tub, Hannibal wonders if he will try to kill him upon waking. If he’ll try to turn him over to Jack Crawford like he’s planned to in the past. Based on how the evening turned, he doesn’t see that as likely. Not after the way Will looked at him. Held him close as they both stood soaked in blood in the brilliant moonlight.
He doesn’t dwell on that train of thought long. His body feels heavy with exhaustion. So he gets changed into a dry shirt and a pair of slacks he found before hauling Will out onto a towel on the bathroom floor. He would rather take him into one of the bedrooms, give him a more comfortable place to rest, but it’s just too difficult to move him any further. So he gets Will dried off as best he can before getting him into a soft t-shit and worn jeans that are a hair too big for him.
Feeling the last of his energy leaving him quickly, Hannibal drags himself over to the linen closet once more, pulls out a thick blanket he finds there, and drags it back over to Will. He shows no sign of waking any time soon, so he might as well try to make him comfortable here. If not for Will’s take then his own.
Hannibal does his best to get Will covered in the heavy duvet, his head resting on a towel as a makeshift pillow.
With a small smile at what he’s managed to accomplish despite his own injuries dragging him down, he collapses beside Will a moment later, one hand still holding the blanket as the world goes dark and unconsciousness takes him.

If now isn’t the right time, then you don’t know when it will be. Things keep piling up, and you’re scared Dean is going to find out about you through someone else which will only make this worse. The guilt is eating at you from the inside, and you need to come clean about what you did.
“Dean, I need to tell you something,” you say while Sam is off making a call to the nicest angel you know.
“Yeah.”
“Dean, this is important. Like, really important.”
“Are you okay?”
“Yes, well, no. You see, a couple of weeks ago, I… okay, I'm just going to come out and say it. I—”
“I left Cas a message. I think,” Sam interrupts. He takes a seat and hands you and Dean a beer, and his attention is focused back on the case. “So, uh, what’s your theory? Why all of the demon hits?”
“I don’t know. Gank the girl? The prophet, maybe?” Dean theorizes.
“She’s not a prophet,” you interject.
“What?”
“She’s not a prophet because she’s not human. Prophets are human. She’s not, so therefore, she can’t be a prophet,” you say with some tension.
“How do you know she’s not human?” Sam asks.
“I just do, okay? I can sense these things.”
“Yeah, well, whatever is going on, sucks. These angels are sending these people to do their dirty work.”
“Yeah, and?” Dean asks after he takes a sip of beer.
“And they could get ripped to shreds.”
“We’re all gonna die, Sam. In like a month—maybe two. I mean it. This is the end of the world, but these people aren’t freaking out. In fact they’re running to the exit in an orderly fashion. I don’t know that that’s such a bad thing.”
“Who says they’re all gonna die? What ever happened to us saving them?” he asks angrily.
Before anyone else had a chance to answer, the church bells toll, and everyone starts to get out of their seats.
“Something I said?” Dean shrugs.
“Paul. What’s going on?” Sam asks.
“Leah’s had another vision.”
“Wanna go to church?” Sam questions and gets up.
“You know me—downright pious,” Dean smiles.
“Dean, seriously, I do need to talk to you. It’s very important.”
“What is it? Tell me now.”
“It’s not the time. Just please remind me when we have a chance.”
“Okay,” he nods, and the three of you head over to the church where everyone is gathered.
“Three miles off Talmadge Road,” Pastor Gideon says once it’s time to begin. Leah stands behind him, and she interrupts by whispering in her dad’s ear. “Five miles. There are demons gathered. I don’t know how many, but a lot. Thank you, Leah. So, who’s going to join me?”
“Wouldn’t miss it,” Rob volunteers.
“Someone’s gotta cover Rob’s ass,” Paul grins.
“We’re in, Padre,” Dean speaks for you three.
“Thank you. I’d like to offer a prayer. “Our Father in Heaven—”
“Yeah, not so much,” you scoff.
“—help us to fight in your name. We ask that you protect us from all servants of evil. Guide our hands in defeating them and deliver us home safely. Thank you, Amen.”
Tumblr media
Pastor Gideon directs his crew to the house Leah told everyone about. There is something off about that girl, but you can’t place your finger on it. She’s not human, then what is she? She’s not an angel or a demon, then what is she? She’s not a witch, then what is she? There isn’t time to think about it since you arrive at the demon house. Gideon and his crew crouch down to see if there are any demons outside, and you look around for them.
“Do you see anything?” Dean whispers to you.
You lift up your right hand and swipe it from the left side of your house to the right. By doing so, you allow your magic to let you see an x-ray version of the house. There are at least half a dozen demons inside, but you don’t know why they’re here.
“Two upstairs, three downstairs, and one in the basement. I’ll get the one in the basement. Be safe,” you say and get up.
“How did she do that?” Rob asks.
“Not the time, Rob. Just listen to her,” Dean coughs and takes two men with him to tackle the two upstairs.
Sam and the rest take the ones on the first floor. You, however, find a door that leads to the basement, and you use your magic to unlock it. It’s dark and dusty, but you ignore the smell and walk down the stairs. You create a ball of magic to float beside you as a source of light since you didn’t have a flashlight.
“I know you’re down here. I can sense you,” you say loudly.
There is a bit of a scuttle from behind you, and you smirk. The demon gave away his position the minute he decided to move. Turning around, you threw your ball of light at the creature. He isn’t expecting it, and the ball slams into his stomach. His body absorbs the magic which causes him to cry out in pain. He lifts his right hand and uses his demonic power to throw you against the wall. It hurt, but not as bad as this might.
You get into a running stance before charging, and you put everything you have when you slam into his body. He grunts in pain when the wind gets knocked out of him, but he recovers quickly. He grabs at your throat in an attempt to subdue you, but he should know better than to mess with a witch. Your eyes flash bright blue, and you do the first thing that comes to mind. Much like you’ve seen Castiel do, you place your hand to the top of his bald head.
His eyes and mouth are wide with fear, and black smoke starts pouring out of every crease and pore. You don’t know how this is possible, but you are exorcising the demon without saying a word. Is this what Sam felt like when he was able to do this with his powers? Sure, he was hopped up on demon blood, but still. Is it weird to say you kind of like it? Maybe it’s the adrenaline talking, but you keep doing it until the demon is no longer inside the man. He drops to the ground, clearly dead, and you get up on shaky legs.
Did that really just happen? Did you exorcise a demon with your magic? You’ve never been able to do that before. It’s like you are unlocking certain things you can do. It all began after you found out you were pregnant. Shit, you were pregnant. You have to tell Dean. Dean! You hadn’t heard anything from above, and you don’t know if that is a good sign or not. Taking the stairs from the basement to the first floor two at a time, you open the door to see all the demons dead, Sam laying on some burlap sacks, and Dean with Ruby’s knife in his hands.
“Are you guys okay?”
“Yeah, are you?”
“Yeah.”
“Where were you?” Rob asks.
“Basement. There was a demon down there. Is everything okay up here?”
“Yeah, we got them all.”
“Great, we can leave now!” you smile.
It doesn’t take long to gather everyone and head outside.
“I guess that’s what it’s like, huh?” Sam sighs.
“What?”
“Having backup.”
“Guys I exorcised a demon!” you gasp happily when it was just the three of you.
Rob and his crew packed in their car while you and the brothers did the same with the Impala.
“Yeah, we all can.”
“No, with my magic! Like what Castiel does with he puts his hand on someone’s head? I did that!”
“Congratulations,” Sam chuckles.
“Be more excited for me, huh?” you scoff.
“Dean. Sam. Y/N,” Ryan says as he approaches you.
“Yo,” Dean greets.
“Hey. So, um, is—is that—is that cool that I get a ride back with you guys?” he stutters.
Dean makes eye contact with Rob in the driver’s seat, and he nods to let him know it’s okay if Ryan stays with you three. Rob doesn’t see anything wrong with it and leaves with the rest.
“Hey, you’ve saved my ass twice already. One more time, you can drive,” he laughs before turning to his brother. “Get a beer?”
Sam fetches for four beers from the car, and Dean tosses one over to the kid. Normally, you wouldn’t condone underaged drinking, but the kid earned it. Well, you don’t know how old he is, but he doesn’t look 21.
“Hey, you earned it. Don’t tell your mom,” Dean chuckles.
“Oh, believe me—I will not,” the kid scoffs.
The brothers open their beer and take a sip, but you finger the closed can. You don’t feel for alcohol right now, not when you have so much on your mind. You place the can on the trunk of the car, and before Dean has a chance to say anything about it, Dylan is grabbed by the feet and dragged underneath the car. He screams in pain, and you jump into action. Sam runs to the other side of the car while you and Dean help Ryan. There was a demon hiding underneath the car this entire time, and his only goal was to attack the kid.
“Dylan!” you scream and reach for the kid while Sam takes care of the demon with his knife.
When you see the blank look in Ryan’s eye, you know he is already gone.
“No!” Dean yells.
“Dylan, wake up,” you gasp and place your glowing hands on his face.
Dean pulls down his collar to reveal his throat had been cut by the demon. Maybe your magic can heal him, but you know that won’t work.
“Y/N, he’s gone,” Dean says painfully.
You pull your hand away as it fades to its normal color, and you lean against the car in defeat. This is not how you imagine this going.
“It’s all my fault,” you whisper.
“No, it’s not.”
“I should have known a demon was there! He died because of me! What am I going to say to his mother?”
Tumblr media
It pained everyone when they found out about one of their own. The church obviously put together a funeral to remember Ryan, but you are more afraid of facing Jane, his mother. Rob is his dad from what you gathered before, but it’s the mother you are more scared of. At least Rob knows what the job entails. Janes doesn’t have a clue, not really. Everyone is gathered inside with you and the brothers posted outside of it. People are walking in, and when you spot Jane and Rob huddled together, your heart beats faster.
“Ma’am, we’re just, um, very sorry,” you apologize.
“You know… this is your fault,” she glares.
“Jane. Come on,” Rob whispers.
“It’s all my fault,” you sigh sadly.
“Y/N, why are you taking this so hard? People die on our watch all the time. It’s sad, but it’s true.”
“I know, but I do need to tell you something, and it’s been bugging me all day--all week—and I need to get it off my chest because it’s killing me.”
“Okay, after this we’ll talk, okay?”
“Okay,” you whisper.
Dean heads inside, but Sam stops you before you two can enter.
“You’re going to tell him? What happened to swearing me and Cas?”
“I can’t do it, Sam. When we died, all I saw was the daughter I killed. Daughter. It was going to be a girl. I thought I could do it, but I can’t. The guilt is eating me alive. I shouldn’t have done it. Oh, he’s going to hate me.”
“He’s not going to hate you.”
“Yes! I killed his child! I killed your niece! Why don’t you hate me for it?”
“Why don’t you hate me for what I did with Ruby?”
“You’re family. You’re--”
“Exactly. Dean will forgive you. Just give him time.”
“Thanks, Sam,” you sigh and head inside the church.
“I wish I knew what to say. But I don’t,” Pastor Gideon starts the service. It’s an open casket, and Ryan lays behind him. “I’m so sorry, Jane, Rob. There are no words. Dylan… I don’t know why this happened. I don’t know why any of this is happening. I got no easy answers. But what I do know is—” Leah’s eyes roll to the back of her head, and she falls out of her pew. She starts to have a seizure, and you watch from the back as this happens. “Leah, honey? Leah, honey? Honey? It’s okay sweetie. It’s okay.”
“Dad, it’s Dylan,” she mutters.
“Just rest a minute, okay?”
“No, listen. Dylan’s coming back,” she says with more urgency.
“What the fuck?” you whisper so low that no one else heard you.
Her dad helps her to her feet and lets her take the floor so she can explain what the fuck just happened. This never happened with Chuck. She’s not who she says she is.
“Jane, Rob… It’s going to be okay. You’ll see Dylan again. When the final day comes--Judgement Day—he’ll be resurrected and you’ll be together again. We’ll all be together. With all our loved ones. We’ve been chosen. The angels have chosen us. And we will be given paradise on earth. All we have to do is follow the angels’ commandments.”
“What are they?” someone asks from the crowd.
Oh, this is going to be a long ceremony.

The day had gone by exactly how Mark wanted it. Being able to spend the day by your side wasn’t anything new, but it was something the birthday boy treasured. However, you wouldn’t let him spend the entire day glued to your side. Once the sun went down, you dragged him along to the apartment complex of your friend Jaemin. At the rooftop of his apartment, you and 6 other guys had planned a surprising night full of laughter and cake. Even though Mark wanted to spend the night by your side, he couldn’t say he was disappointed about having all of his closest friends at one place. Reaching the rooftop, you both went your separate ways to greet the people there. You stayed by Yeri's and Joy's side, knowing Mark was doing fine by the giggles emitted from his tight-knit group of friends.
“So mark, are you gonna tell her soon?” Jeno asked, nudging Marks arm to gain his attention. It also gained the attention of the rest of the group, who also wanted an answer to Jeno’s question. “tell who what?” Mark played dumb, having obviously understood what the boy meant. This received an eye roll from Renjun “dude, don’t act like you don’t know. Y/n, are you gonna tell her how you feel soon?” Mark was clearly feeling uncomfortable at the sudden interrogation, and the boys knew that when he tried changing the subject, however, to no avail. “if you’re not going to own up to your feelings, you should stop looking at her like a sad puppy every other second” Mark gave the boys a confused look “I don’t?? Oh, shit I do” The birthday boy gave them all a wide-eyed panicked look, only gaining chuckles in return.
“Just confess dude, it’s not that hard” Donghyuck remarked, with a shrug of his shoulders. That seemed to be the end of the conversation as Jaemin suddenly started talking about a new game he saw at the store. But Mark couldn’t seem to bring himself back to the conversation, having Donghyuck’s comment ringing in the back of his head. Mark knew it wasn’t as easy to confess your feelings to your best friend as Donghyuck made it out to be, but there was a little voice in his head saying but what if it is.
The night dragged on until the sun was about to retouch the horizon. Most of the guests had left by now, taking the soft giggles and jokes with them. It was only you, Mark, Jaemin and Jeno left on the rooftop. The four of you stayed laying on your backs looking up at the sky that’s now turning a soft blue. “well we're gonna head to bed now guys, you can stay for as long as you'd like though, y/n has a spare key” and with that the night had left only you and Mark on its way out.
“Hey Mark” you say, still staring up at the sky, the boy lets out a hum telling you that he’s listening. “Are you okay? You’re so quiet, kind of distant” you question him. This makes Mark sit up, still having his eyes plastered on the sky he takes a moment before answering “I’m fine y/n, don’t worry” he looks back at you smiling. But that answer, and that smile, only made you worry more.
You can’t say you worried for no reason, had it been three weeks since Mark's birthday and you were positive that the boy was avoiding you. Neglecting your movie nights or lunch plans, it seemed like he was spending most of his time at Jaemins place. Not that you minded that, you could do without your movie nights, but once he started answering your text with brief, dry responses, as well as rejecting your every attempt at meeting up with him, you could tell that something wasn’t right. Having barely seen him for three weeks you started to wonder if you had done something to aggravate the boy. But at last you decided to give him some space.
Mark, the poor boy had basically been living with Jaemin for the past three weeks, he was nothing less of a mess. And the host had had enough of it. Jaemin didn’t mind Mark staying over at his place, as a matter of fact he was happy about the company the other boy provided. But he could begin to sense the downfall of his friend’s mood and the moping had to stop.
“Mark, for how long are you planning on avoiding y/n" Jaemin said while turning off the TV resulting in a whine from the older boy. “I don’t know what you mean, I’m not avoiding her” mark says. “Mark for fucks sake, what are you doing this for? If you keep going at it, you’re gonna lose her.” Jaemin knew the words he was letting out were harsh, but the other boy had to hear it. However, he wasn’t expecting Mark to chuckle at his comment.
“But what if I lose her anyways huh? What if I let my feelings slip? What if she rejects the fuck out of me? What if she never wants to see me again? What would I do then?” Marks voice comes out more like a whisper at the end and Jaemin gives the boy an exhausted look, hating to see his best friend in this condition.
“I’m sorry dude, but are you dumb? Are you actually dumb?” this time Jaemin lets out a laugh, much to Mark’s surprise. Before Mark can defend himself, Jaemin’s at it again. “no not dumb actually, more like blind. Bro you need glasses” “excuse me but-“ mark interferes “no Mark shut up, listen, in what world does it look like y/n would ever leave you? We can all see the way she looks at you, so why can’t you?” Jaemin pushes his hair back with an exaggerated sigh as he looks over at the older boy who seems to have taken a deep interest in the seams of the blanket on his lap.
“She looks at me like a friend” he whispers. “Mark, she doesn’t. She looks at you like you hold the key to the entire universe, like you have the answer to life. She looks at you with her eyes brimming with love, and don’t even get me started on the way she smiles whenever we even mention your name” when Mark finally looks up from his lap his face is covered in a red hue, and Jaemin can’t decide if it’s the result of embarrassment or unshed tears. “get your head out of your ass mark and go get your girl.”
After the conversation, Mark was basically kicked out of Jaemin’s place. The boy asked if he needed a ride home but Mark opted for the walk since he needed some time to clear his head. It’s gonna be okay mark, he thought to himself on the way home. The weather seemed to share his gloomy mood, as the sky was covered in grey clouds, he could tell it was going to rain soon. What Mark didn’t see coming was the way the sky lit up with sharp lights every other minute, followed by a loud bang. He rushed home in an attempt to avoid the rain, but the boy was still a soaking mess once he reached his front door.
There was just one problem, it wasn’t his door. Rather he was standing at the door of the girl he was trying his best to avoid, and without even knowing it he rang the doorbell. And then there you stood, a surprised look on your face, that quickly morphed worry for the soaking boy at your door step. “Mark, what are you doing out there, god, come inside.” You ushered him in, dragging him to the bathroom, you told him to take a quick shower while you grabbed him some clothes. Mark had a whole lot of clothes spread around your room, so finding him some dry clothes wasn’t that hard. “Mark, I placed the clothes on the other side, come to the living room when you’re ready ok?”
You were absorbed in the ending of the movie you had put on. However, your attention was quickly diverted to the now dry boy when you felt the couch dip. “here, I’ll put on something else” Mark was quick to stop you though, grabbing your hand before it reached the remote “no it’s fine, you can finish the movie” then let go of your hand after the short comment, but you chose to not listen to him. Grabbing the remote you put on one of the shows you always watched when the weather was bad earning you a chuckle from the boy “always so stubborn” to which you gave a glare. It seemed like things were back to normal, and none of you mentioned the three weeks without contact.
A few episodes and two popcorn bags later, the weather didn’t seem to get any better. In fact, it seemed to have gotten worse with time. The sky lit up more often and the bangs had gotten closer, you could also hear the wind hitting the windows frequently. You had never been a fan of weather like this, when some people found comfort in the sound of rain hitting the ground and the atoms in the sky reacting to each other, you were just filled with anxiety waiting for the worst to happen. You never knew where this fear originated having never experienced anything bad during a storm. Actually, it was always the opposite. Mark learned about your fear of storms at a young age, and he always made it his mission to distract you to the fullest, would it be with cuddles or a movie didn’t matter. So maybe that’s why he suddenly showed up at your door after 3 weeks of minimal contact.
The eerie atmosphere the storm brought seemed only to get worse, because now in the middle of an episode the power chose to go out, leaving you and Mark in complete darkness. Anything worse than a storm, was a storm in the dark. “Hey y/n, you okay? I’m right here okay, don’t be afraid” mark said reaching out for your hand he gripped it tightly giving it a light squeeze. “can you wait here for a second? Put your phone flashlight on okay? I’m just gonna go get some candles” you did as instructed while Mark went to look for the candles you always had locked away somewhere. He returned with a handful, as well as a lighter. You never knew if you preferred the darkness or a room filled with tiny flames, but at last you didn’t complain about it.
“You don't seem as afraid of storms anymore?” Mark questioned. “oh no I am, but lately I guess there’s other things that are more frightening" you could feel Mark’s eyes on you, but you did your best at avoiding eye contact. “like what” he whispered making you suck in a breath.
You don’t know for how long you held it in, finally breathing out once you felt Mark’s hand on your cheek, wiping away some of the tears that had broken free.
“please talk to me, tell me what’s wrong” he let out in the softest voice, making your heart a beating mess, but ignoring your heart for a second you could feel how mad you actually were at the boy that was now acting like an oblivious fool.
“shouldn’t you know Mark?” you asked, abruptly standing up from the couch. You made eye contact with him and you could see that he was surprised by your outburst, but he quickly looked down in guilt.
“okay fine, you wanna act like that? I’ll tell you what’s wrong Mark. What’s wrong is how you left me in the complete darkness for three fucking weeks. What’s wrong is- is how I didn’t know what was going on with you, or if I did something wrong. Like did I- did I do something to hurt you Mark? Did you get bored of me or something?”
By the end of your rant you could feel your face burning up and tears streaming down in a rush. “and you know what’s really fucking wrong right now? It’s how you just came knocking on my door after three weeks acting like nothing had happen. Acting like you didn’t disappear like a ghost or some shit”
You wiped away the tears from your face aggressively, letting out sniffles here and there. “I’m sorry y/n" Mark said weakly. Whatever you muttered, more to yourself but the boy heard it as clear as day.
“no, it’s not whatever y/n, fuck I'm so sorry” the boy stood up, and started walking towards you. Stopping a step before you he reached out a hand to your arm “can I?” he asked with uncertainty dripping from every syllable. Giving him a nod, he was quick to pull you right into his chest, giving you déjà vu back to the hug shared in the kitchen, god that felt like an eternity ago.
“I’m so sorry for being so selfish y/n, you could never do anything wrong, I could never get bored of you. I’m just so selfish, I’m selfish and a coward when it comes to my feelings, especially the ones for you” you broke away from the embrace, giving him a confused look “Mark what?”
“listen y/n, I don’t think I could ever live without you, and after these past few weeks I frankly never want to find out. I’m just, I just love you a lot okay?” you were about to respond when he cut you off.
“no not just that. Y/n I’m in love with you. And when I realised I chose to run away, I chose to be selfish, and you didn’t deserve that. I was just afraid of rejection, I guess. I was afraid of ruining our friendship, but I guess I did that anyways” Mark let out a bitter laugh, having not believed what he just said. Silence was the only thing filling the room, you stood there in shock at the information you’ve just been given. You didn’t know how to react or what to say so you just stood there, filling Mark up with more anxiety.
“yeah, so you don’t need to reply or say anything back. I just felt like you deserved to know” with that Mark started pulling away, much to your dismay.
“Mark are you actually dumb?” “okay, people keep asking me that today and it hurts” you let out a small breathy laugh.
“In what world would this ruin our friendship? Even if I didn’t feel the same way, I’m kinda hurt that you think this could break our friendship” you said. “wait what, what do you mean if you didn’t-"
“Mark” you cut him off giggling. “in what world would I reject you? I’m in love with you too, you absolute dumbass”
The poor boy however, seemed to have stopped working, looking at you with a face full of confusion. “wait what” he repeated himself. With a roll of your eyes you grabbed at his shirt pulling him down to a point where your lips are almost touching “I’m in love with you too” you whisper, leaning in you plant a soft kiss to the boy’s lips. It took a second for Mark to process what was happening, but when he did his hand was quick to find the curve of your neck, while the other settled for softly tracing your jaw.
Click
“now would you look at that” Mark said pulling away. You gave out a small whine at the loss making his lips curve up at the corners. “The power’s back on” he whispered before pulling you in for a second kiss.

Carson uses WAY to much magic trying to protect people and ends up in the hospital (PART 1)
To say he was surprised when he got the call would be an understatement. The police hadn't asked him to consult for months now and Carson figured they swore off magicians all together. But it all made sense when he saw the handcuffs. They didn't trust him, they didn't even want him there. But Morris insisted they bring in a consultant, and looking at the crime scene, he was right.
"You know I can take these off at any time, right?" Carson said, holding up his arms so that the metal chains made a jingling noise.
"Humor me," Morris replied. There must be some kind of law against cuffing an innocent person but Carson just went with it. It seemed to make everyone more comfortable, and it's not like they were actually restraining him.
He waited with the rest of the force by the curb on the opposite side of the street from a large abandoned factory. The bodies had already been documented and moved, all that was left inside was maybe the biggest ritual circle Carson has ever seen complete with all kinds of minerals, artifacts, a surprising about of human blood, and symbols he barely recognized. Morris had shown him the pictures beforehand to lure him out there.
"Once we get the all clear, you me, Riley, and my officers will go in then you can take a look around. Follow me, do what I say, and for the love of god, don't touch anything," Morris instructed. Riley stood on his right, seemingly ignoring Carson which didn't feel very fair since it was her life he was saving when he went dark. It's quite possible that Morris has simply been a detective for so long, nothing phases him anymore. Riley on the other hand was brand new to the field and already in way over her head.
Carson pulled his collar up to cover his neck and burrowed into his coat. It was nearly December and if he hadn't enchanted his coat to absorb lingering energies in order to heat itself he'd be freezing his ass off right now. Out of the corner of his eye he saw Riley stave of a chill. Serves you right, Carson thought bitterly. Still though he did have some desire to reconcile.
"That tea must be cold by now," he said, pointing at the cup she had wrapped in her hands.
"It's fine." She said, her voice clipped.
"Let me see it," he said. Riley finally met his eyes for the first time that night and reluctantly handed it over. It took Carson all of two seconds to heat it back up to it's original temperature. Besides healing, manipulating temperature was the smoothest magic he could do on the fly since it just dealt with adding or subtracting raw energy. Riley's eyes lit up when she saw steam waft through the hole in the lid. Carson handed it back to her and she immediately went back to cradling the cup in an effort to keep her fingers from freezing.
"Thanks," she said, then turned away. Not wanting to push his luck Carson turned away too, taking a seat on the edge of the curb while they waited. Morris spouted a bunch of nonsense into his radio until he finally got the all clear.
"Alright, you're up," he said. Carson clambered to his feet and followed behind. Ten officers made a semicircle around them and walked carefully as if the building was rigged with landmines.
"Hey, why are we doing this is the middle of the night?" Carson asked suddenly.
"Would you rather come back in the morning?" Morris countered.
"No..."
"That's what I thought."
Half a dozen flashlight beams lit up the path before them. Carson looked over Riley's shoulder to get a glimpse of the ritual circle he was told about. It easily spanned 50 feet, covering more area than his entire apartment, after the upgrade. Since the building had been abandoned and cleared out years ago, the circle was drawn directly on the cement floor. Once everyone stopped moving Carson took it as his que to step around and start observing.
An uneasy feeling washed over him as he stepped inside the circle, like the air itself held a static charge. Something big had happened there alright. His first thought was that the circle had been made to kill all six victims at once but a circle this size, powered with this much energy, could kill at least twice that many people. He took his notebook out of his coat pocket and sketched the symbols he could distinguish in the low lighting, he'll have to look at the photos that were already taken later to pick apart the rest of them. Now to get on with what he really came to do.
Taking a steadying breath, Carson closed his eyes. When he opened them again his vision was filled with the vibrant, dense color of magic. Each hue probably belonging to a different magician. It was so overwhelming he could hardly see around him.
"What is it?" Riley asked as he blinked against the bright lights shining into his eyes, though the room still appeared dark to everyone else.
"There's a lot of magic here, it's hard to sort th-" Carson trailed off. Something had felt wrong about the place since the moment they got there but with each passing second he grew more and more anxious. His body was trying to warn him about something his natural and supernatural senses couldn't quite pick up. It didn't make sense. But it didn't have to.
He looked up at the ceiling then to everyone around him, "It's a trap," Carson whispered.
The cops' flashlights started to flicker erratically as a pressure built around them. The taste of metal filled Carson's mouth. It was a trap, and 12 stories worth of concrete was about to fall on them when the bomb, whatever it was, went off. He didn't need a timer to know that he only had seconds to prepare.
"Get close to me!" He barked. Riley and Morris came to his sides instantly but the other officers held their position. "Get close! I can't cover that much space!" He screamed. They inched closer, just barely, keeping at least five feet of distance between them and Carson. Those stupid cops still thought he was the biggest threat there.
He dropped to one knee and put his hand out flat on the cold, cement floor. Closing his eyes he started the process of shutting out certain sensory input and focusing entirely on the energy about to reach explosive levels. Making a shield around the three of them that could protect them from the force of the blast along with all the falling debris was hard enough. The falling rubble alone could easily bury them alive.
A sharp pain split through his skull as he forced the shield to go wider.

Something warm trickled down Carson's face as he pushed the shield even farther, still not coming close to the officers standing around stupidly, waiting for something to happen.

Riley gripped his shoulder in fear, crouching down as much as she could. Morris threw one of his big arms around her protectively.

The sound was so loud that it didn't sound like anything at all. It was more like he felt the assault on his eardrums. Dozens of good old fashioned C4 explosives went off at once, staggered across each floor. The frame of the old factory didn't stand a chance.
Waves of pure heat preceded the blast and Carson had to time it perfectly. Just as the first floor was about to fall and clouds of fire burst from the columns, he used everything he had in one quick counter-blast of his own. Carson could only shield the officers for a split second so instead of holding it he expanded the perimeter, redirecting all the energy outward.
The light as both energies collided was brilliant and blinding. If anyone could still hear at this point it would have sounded like the crack of lightening. Sparks of energy splintered through the air around them which started to swirl madly across the half-dome shield. Carson grit his teeth against the pain in his head from going way beyond his limit. He'd never moved that much energy at one time before and it made it difficult to keep track of how much of his own life energy he was tapping into. The blood pounding through his head was a small comfort, letting him know that he was still alive as the rest of the world faded away.
Then suddenly it was over.
Slabs of cement the size of cars slid down the side of his barrier making a pile in the form of a ring around them. When the current of energy running through Carson finally stopped and the defensive magic dissipated, smoke and dust blew in from all directions. Up until that point the center of the circle had been entirely untouched. Riley and Morris didn't feel so much as a strong breeze.
Everyone was stunned at first. The police officers were alive but badly injured and Riley and Morris were the only two who came out of it mostly unscathed. Riley coughed on a lungful of smoke and started feeling around in front of her for Carson. It took a second but her hand found his leg and she pulled his limp body into her lap. The air was still hot and dense, making it nearly impossible to see through but the feeling of wet sticky blood was unmistakable to her finger tips.
"Hggughhh, C -Carson," she choked out his name between coughs. He didn't stir
No one saw the exact moment he went down but it wasn't a dramatic, stumble to his knees and fall to the ground type of collapse. One second he was awake, then the next his vision went white. He fell like a puppet cut from its strings. Riley continued to touch his face and say his name but the sounds coming from her mouth quickly devolved into desperate wheezing.
Morris doubled over, coughing harshly. "How is he?" He asked.
Riley shook her head clear and struggled to speak, "unconscious, there's... a lot of blood."
Morris stopped shining his flashlight over the mound of rubble and knelt down next to them. "Where from?"
"Um, his nose and... both ears," she sniffled.
Morris pulled out his radio and called for backup then started to check on the other cops who were starting to come to.
--
More police officers starting climbing over the rubble, followed in by several paramedics.
"Is everyone ok, Detective?" A cop called out. He was one of the few who stayed behind and watched the whole thing go down from an uncomfortably close distance.
"We got four men needing medical attention, one civilian," Morris stated. The cop slid the last few feet down towards them and caught himself on Morris's arm.
"What the hell happened? I've never seen an explosion like that in my life," the young police officer exclaimed.
"I think something strange happened when the explosion met Carson's magic." Morris rubbed his chin, equally stumped.
"You mean that blue light was him?!" He asked, pointing at where Carson still laid limp on the ground.
Morris pushed the guy aside when two paramedics approached with a stretcher.
"Take him out first, he's a civilian," Morris ordered. The rest of the police who weren't as well protected were pretty banged up but none were in life threatening condition. Carson he wasn't so sure about.
A woman knelt next to him and Riley, checking his heart rate, breathing, and pupils, before deciding it was safe to move him.
"Breathing is strained, patient is unconscious and unresponsive. Heart rate weak and thready." She told her partner.
Riley felt a sharp pain in her chest. She assumed he just passed out like he usually did not that he was in actual danger. The other paramedic helped lift him onto the stretcher while she watched helplessly.
"You go with him, I'll handle things here," Morris told her. She nodded and sniffled again.
They made their way over to one of the waiting ambulances where they put an oxygen mask on Carson and hooked him up to some monitors.
"Is he gonna be okay?" She asked.
The paramedics exchanged looks before answering, "he's in good hands. The doctor at the hospital will be able to tell you more." The man said. She listened to each beep the heart monitor made and held one of Carson's hands.
--
When they got to the ER and the doctor starting asking questions Riley was glad she came along. There wasn't a scratch on him, no obvious injuries or illness, so naturally they were confused about his condition.
"Patient name?" The ER doctor asked.
"Carson Hall," Riley responded.
The doctor stopped what he was doing and turned to the nurse, "admit him to a private room and page Dr. Owens." He sighed then turned to Riley. "Please wait in the waiting room, a nurse will give you the room number once he's settled in. The patient is in stable condition for now."
"Wait, what's going on? You know that he's-"
The doctor cut her off, "Oh we know Carson. Dr. Owens specializes in this field." He said, being deliberately vague. Saying the word "magic" in a crowded Emergency Room would only get people worried. She nodded in understanding then went to wait while they moved him to another room.
By the time Riley made her way up to the third floor Dr. Owens had already stopped by and a nurse was finishing up his IV.
He still looked deathly pale against the washed out hospital walls but at least he looked comfortable under a pile a blankets and someone had thoroughly cleaned the blood off his face. About five minutes of quiet passed before the door swung open suddenly.
Daniel walked in, closing the door hard enough to make a loud thud. He looked pissed.
Taking a seat in one of the uncomfortable chairs for guests he crossed his arms and waited for Riley to explain.
She shrunk under his gaze, there really was no excuse for it. They called him in for the first time in months and he was already in the hospital. Instead of protecting him like they were supposed to they forced him to protect all of them because someone didn't bother to check each floor of the building.
"Well... there was... an explosion, and..." she started.
"And?" Daniel demanded.
"He used up too much energy shielding everyone, I'm sorry..." she added. "It was extreme for any magician, let alone one like him who isn't used to doing that kind of magic. You should have seen it."
"You mean this?" Daniel held up his phone which displayed one of the many news articles that had already started to come out. The title read "Unknown Blue Explosion in the WareHouse District: Aliens?"
"Yeah, that." She mumbled shamefully.
"Well now that that's all cleared up you're free to go," Daniel said, reaching a new level of irony seeing as Riley was the cop in this situation.
"I guess I should go report back then," she said reluctantly, surprised that she didn't want to leave.
"You do that," Daniel replied coldly.
After she left, Daniel stayed for a while then went back home. As much as he wanted to stay by his side he knew Carson wouldn't be waking up for a few days so he might as well keep going to work in the meantime.

TW: Mentions of abduction, children in danger

I was abducted by aliens once.
When I was a kid we'd go upstate, this house we'd rent by the lake. It wasn't one of the fancy smancy ones, like across the water.
But it was big, old, and wonderful. It had a walk around porch. When I close my eyes I can hear the sound of our sneakers all pounding on it as we ran out the door to play in the woods.
The summer I was seven, was the last summer I got to be the baby of the family. Later that fall Ma would announce she was pregnant.
My memories of being the youngest wasn't anything too bad, or exceptionally idyllic either.
I wasn't really excluded, and at the same time I understood when I wasn't wanted.
I think with us being relatively close in age made a difference too.
The summer I was seven was the summer Marie was eight, the twins eleven, and Julia Anna was twelve.
The same summer Jules, Davey and Killian all discovered the Carmichael kids across the water. They had water skis and golden retrievers, golden hair and were all tanned and dimpled.
And so the summer started with those three heading off to town, hoping to run into them. And thus leaving Marie and I to our own devices.
The same way I can hear our sneakers running on the wood porch, I can smell the dust as we ran through the woods. See the shadows the trees cast on us. And the sun on my back as we swam.
I never got sunburnt, but she did. No matter how much sunscreen she slathered on, poor Marie came home the end of the day red.
It was David's idea, the second week that summer, that we try swimming at night then, to shut up her whining.
"But there might be snakes." She said, teary as Dad applied aloe to her shoulders.
"There's snakes around during the day too."
"But I can't see them at night."
"Yeah that's true," Killian said from his corner in the living room. "There's a lot of stuff you can't see out there at night. Snakes, bears, mountain lions…"
Marie didn't answer, she looked down at her peeling knees, while Dad told Kill to knock it off.
"But you said there were!" Killian said, "Before we came here, you said they've been seeing bears up here so don't go too far into the woods."
Marie's green eyes widened and she looked up at Dad, "You didn't tell me!"
"There are no bears." He said, glancing at Killian to shut up if he knew was was good for him.
Because if that, it was David who said that actually, Kelly Carmichael saw one out her window last night.
Which is why her and her siblings are only allowed in town and outside the front of the house.
Marie's eyes filled with tears as she ran upstairs. I went after her, taking the tube of aloe from Dad.
Dad who had jumped up, and was now towering over the twins who only then realized the error of their ways.
I thought about how her knees must be on fire now, moving so fast as she did. I also knew she'd be crying, saying she didn't want to play outside anymore.
That Daddy wanted her to get eaten by a bear. That she wanted to go home.
A variation of this happened every year. Marie got homesick as easily as she got her feelings hurt.
I always felt so bad. Sometimes I'd think to myself, that my sister absorbed my feelings too.
Like a sponge, she took all my sadness, and all the stuff I was scared of, so while she was the one that cried from holding it all, I was the one that was brave for both of us.
Maybe as I reapplied the aloe onto her knees, I could give her some of my bravery.
"I don't want to go swimming to-to-tomorrow…" She sniffed, "I'm sorry Theo, I'm sorry…"
"Want some water?"
"I just..I just.." She coughed, and ran an arm under her nose.
"Want some water?"
She nodded, and I gave her the rest of the aloe. Climbing off the bed, telling her I'd be right back.
I slid down the railing, like Mom showed us last year, and could hear Daddy from the living room.
Mama and Jules were in the kitchen. I could smell the apples and strawberries Mama was cutting up at the counter. Jules looked up from her magazine, and asked me what the twins did this time.
"Marie wants some water." I got two bottles from the fridge.
"What they say to her this time?" Jules repeated patiently.
"They said Kelly Carmichael saw a bear in the woods."
Jules had mastered the teenage smirk, and doled it out generously, like now. Proof enough to me that the twins were teasing. Not that I hadn't figured it out yet.
I could hear Dad, stilling chewing out the twins, and sentencing them to being nice to Marie all day tomorrow.
The way he said it, told me he meant they wouldn't be seeing Kelly anytime soon.
"Come on, Bebe." Mom had scooped the fruit into a bowl, and began up the stairs with me.
The twins came upstairs too, some time later when Marie and I had gotten checkers out, and began playing.
They said sorry, and Marie said softly that it was okay.
"But, look, we do gotta tell you something. The real thing that's out in the woods."
"I'm getting Daddy." I got only one foot dangling off the bed, when David grabbed me and pushed me back up.
"No, we're serious." He said, "We're not trying to scare you Marie, but you need to know what's out there."
"You too, Theo." Killian said, "We have to make sure you guys don't do anything stupid."
"Mama said you're both just being bromistas." Marie crossed her arms.
"Fine, don't listen to us."
"Killian, Dad said we have to warn them!" David pushed his shoulder.
"Warn us about what?" She asked, looking over at them.
The twins exchanged a glance, and said nothing at first. "You said we're just being bromistas." Killian shrugged.
"Warn us about what?" Marie looked between them.
The twins exchanged a glance, silently asking the other if they should impart this secret.
They made us huddle close, and whispered the real reason why we needed to be careful in the woods.
Ways to make my life extraordinary?
I'll tell myself, all that happened that summer, was Marie and I were abducted by aliens.
That the twins had been completely serious, about UFOs flying over the lake at night.
That there had been sightings all over the newspaper. That the story about wild cats and bears was meant to keep kids like us inside, so we wouldn't be scared by the real reason: There were aliens, over Lake Persimmon.
I remember the moon that night, I remember the boat, the woods, our flashlights going up to the starry sky.
I've read the official report.
But there's some other stuff.
The crazy stuff. The stuff I've never asked Marie to collaborate, but to me is so clear.
Sometimes, I don't know if I really remember it, or if I just want to stick with the crazy story.
So, first, I'll tell you what I remember first hand. Then, I'll tell you what the news, police, and everyone else says happened.
The revelation had the opposite effect that Killian and David were probably hoping for.
That night we laid in the large bed, holding each other and looking out at the open window. We watched the water and sky, waiting to see them.
We tried for three nights, and fell asleep each time before they showed up.
So, I had a plan.
It was midnight, we had stored away cans of coke and candy from the pantry upstairs, and gorged til we were shivering with sugar.
Wide awake, and armed with a backpack of flashlights, a kitchen knife just in case, more soda, binoculars, and a disposable camera,  we crept downstairs.
The only creatures that knew we were up were the crickets, cicadas, and fireflies, the owl we saw in the tree as we ran down the familiar path.
It was one that went right to the docks near the water, small boats were tied and put on shore. There was a shack to rent them, and looking back it was pretty archaic.
Because there was nothing to stop two kids from taking one and pushing it into the water.
But as we got closer, I realized I was alone. Marie wasn't next to me.
"Marie?" I called, looking around. "Marie? Where are you?" I started to walk back, taking a flashlight out of the bag.
The bag with the lights, the knife, with everything we needed. I imagined Marie alone in the dark without me.
I wondered then, if she had really wanted to come. Or if it was just because I wanted to. Maybe she got scared, and tried to turn back to go home.
"Marie!" I called louder, hearing my voice echo, and getting no answer. The path seemed longer than it ever had been. Darker than it ever had been.
The wind too, seemed stronger. It was so strong, I could see the brush and branches move and shake. It was warm too.
The path lit up before me, as bright as day. I felt light, so light that the backpack fell from my shoulders.
I grabbed it and looked down. I could see the tree tops, the house, the lake. Like I was flying.
I looked up, squinting at the bright light, but I remember I wasn't scared. I just let go of the weight of the backpack. It fell down.
And something else came to my hand, and held it. Marie's hand in mine, one that I knew so well.
She was next to me again. Dried tear tracks on her cheeks, her face calm as she slowly looked back at me. Squeezing my hand.
We didn't see what abducted us. I don't remember the inside of the UFO, but I remember star dust.
Green, bright, all around me as I floated. It was surging around my body like a million little gnats. It struck me as a word I didn't have in my vocabulary then, but do now. Celestial.
Like a million little stars running between my fingers. Like understanding that there was more than my family and I. More than my little simple world at home. At Lake Persimmon.
I could see the galaxies beyond, and I wanted to be there. To be part of it. To reach out and catched the dust, that no one else could touch.
The next thing I was aware of, my leg was hurting. Coincidentally it was the leg I would later lose. The left one.
I was laying on the ground in the woods. And Marie was not with me.
I just stayed there, listening to the woods for a while. I think I could have gotten up myself, but I didn't want to. Not until I heard my mother call my name.
Not until I felt my Dad's arms under me, picking me up.
"Where's Marie?!"
I started to cry.
This is what's in the police report. What has been collected from my parents, from other searchers. What they pieced together. And what information came later.
Sometime at one in the morning, Mama woke up, and said she felt something wasn't right. She went to the bedroom Marie and I shared, and saw we weren't there.
When she couldn't find us, she woke the whole house. When they couldn't find us, the police were called.
It was almost three in the morning, when Dad said he saw me, laying on the trail in the woods. The trail just before the bend that leads to the docks.
He said I was awake. I responded to him when he picked me up. And when they asked me what happened, and where was Marie; I started to cry.
Seven the following morning, they found Marie. She was in town, sitting on a bench, calmly, like she was waiting for them.
Both of us were quiet, the report put us both in catatonic states as the police tried to ask what happened.
The backpack was never found. Never seen again. Before we left the house I tried to look for it with Julia and David, but it never turned up.
According to follow ups, Marie and I didn't start to speak again until a week after we went back home.
I say according because my memory is hazing there. I remember looking for the backpack. I remember us not being out of anyone's sight for a while.
I don't remember not speaking, but I do remember the twins crying at one point.
remember David running out the room, when I said we were looking for aliens that night.
A few months later, they arrested a couple named Vivian and Ben Davis. They were locals, who had a farm just before the town line.
Ben Davis was several months late on car payments. His van was being towed, and the repo guy came when both of them were out "tending" to their malnourished cows.
According to the Repo, they began loading the car up, when he heard something heavy crash into the driver's seat inside.
I'll leave it to your imagination, what he saw through the window, that prompted him to call the police.
Who were thus prompted to get a warrant and rifle through the house, and eventually find a tub of photographs.
The photos were from years past; the couple themselves, friends, different pets, etc. Things you'd expect, except for one envelope buried at the bottom.
In that envelope were photos, one of which were of Marie and I. In their van, chains around our legs, holding each other, with socks in our mouths.
The other photos showed other kids the same way. We were ones that could immediately be identified.
Our hands weren't bound, apparently thanks to Vivian, because she, thoughtfully, didn't want to hurt our wrists.
Okay, so, here's the thing. I can look at that photo, and I can remember that as well.
I can remember being picked up from behind and gagged. I can remember the weight of the chains around my ankles. I can remember looking out the driver's window from the back of the van, and holding tightly to Marie.
I can remember it as vividly as I remember floating over the woods.
According to the Davis' confession, we ran. It was when we got to their farm and they pulled us out of the van.
Ben pulled our faces close to his, and said we would be good. He was going to unchain our legs, and then we would take his and Vivian's hands, and go inside to have dinner.
Obliviously soon as the chains were off, Marie took my hand and we ran the other way.
I refuse to believe we were the only kids that did, but anyway, they lost us in the woods. They claim.
There is a blank space, in both versions, that I can't remember. Time between me seeing the stardust, and waking up. Between me in the van with Marie, and being carried by my dad.
Blank space. And I don't know what to do with it.
I remember both things so clearly. Is it possible they both happened?
Am I crazy, for hoping so? Because sometimes I can still remember the stardust. I want to believe I touched it, and saw the world from above for a moment.
Ways to make my life Extraordinary?
I went back once, to look for the backpack. All these years later. Still never found it. I guess I didn't expect to.
Marie and I have both seen someone about it. Separately. But we've never talked about it to each other.
I tell the alien story sometimes. Not to anyone who knows my family too well. But I do.
And I can't say I fully believe it. But, it doesn't feel right to say I fully don't believe it.
I mean, I have a boss that can heal paper cuts with glowing hands. I met a girl who could move the clouds. I know a guy that's a full on Empath. I've been in a house with a reality warper.
How can I say aliens are so out there?

Those Moments in Between Chapter 2: Boo to You
AN: So I’m not sure how often I would post new chapters but I’m starting a new project (not writing related) and decided to post this chapter before I completely forgot about this. Also I want to hear from you guys. I want to know what you guys want to see. My box is open and ready for your ideas. Everyone stay safe out their and enjoy.
Mary wouldn’t admit it to Zelda, not when the other woman had so much on her mind already, but she was nervous. She had never taken care of a child as small as Vida and though Vida seemed to like her that could all change in a heartbeat. This was the first time that the two of them would be alone together, without Zelda. To say that Mary was under some significant pressure was an understatement. This one night could make or break her budding relationship with Zelda. Was she overreacting? Maybe. Was it justified? 100% Mary hasn’t known Zelda long but the one thing that Mary did know was that Vida came first. If tonight went south that was it, she was done.
So far things seemed to be going okay. Vida took to her mom leaving very well and was still excited about going out for trick or treating. If that’s what Vida wanted then so be it. Well… trick or treating was part of the deal but Mary wasn’t going to force Vida to do something that she didn’t want to.
The advantage of Greendale being such a small town was that everything was in walking distance. From the town center you could easily walk to any of the housing neighborhoods. That made things a whole lot easier for Mary, she could park her car in one spot and not worry about its safety or where she left it. Mary managed to convince Vida that they should start with the furthest neighborhood.  As they approached the first house Mary turned to Vida.
“Do you remember what you have to do Vida?”
“Yes. I ring the doorbell and wait for someone to answer and then I say ‘trick or treat’. Right?”
“Very good. And what do you say after they give you treats?”
“Thank you and happy Halloween!”
“Excellent! Your golden.”
“But my dress is black.” Vida looked herself over, yup everything was black. Her dress, her tights, her shoes. What was gold?
Mary mentally slapped herself. Of course Vida wouldn’t understand. Mary stumbled on her words for a second. She paused and took a deep breath, she can’t let this phase her.
“It’s nothing Vida. Are you ready?” Vida nodded causing her pigtails to bounce from one side of her shoulders to the other. They walked up to the house, Mary hung back but kept a close eye on Vida as she stepped onto the porch. Vida turned to look at her, there was a tiny bit of fear on her face. “It’s okay I’ll be right here. You got this.” With a small smile Vida turned back to the door and rang the doorbell. A few minutes passed by until a middle aged woman with wheat colored hair that was in a neat bun answered the door.
“Trick or treat!”
“My aren’t you precious. Is this your first time?” Vida nodded.
“Yes, but my mommy sometimes lets me help my Auntie Hilda hand out candy. She works at the bookstore.”
“Dr. C’s? I think I know who you are talking about. And since you are my first trick or treater I have a special surprise for you.” Mary tensed and stepped closer to Vida. Though this woman didn’t set off any alarm bells it never hurt to be overly cautious. And if anything happened to Vida Mary was sure she would never see the light of day again and her body would never be found. The woman brought out a spellbook but when she opened it several large candy bars were nestled inside. Vida’s face glowed bright and she turned to Mary and then back at the woman.
“I can really have one!?” The woman nodded. Now came the hard part, which one? Mary scanned the bars over. They were all pretty basic, none of them contained nuts or a filling, but some had extra like the big Crunch and Kit Kat bars.
“These seem to be a good option Vida.” Mary brought Vida’s attention to the king size Hershey milk chocolate and dark chocolate bars, they were the simplest and would most likely appeal to Vida’s pallet. Vida looked between the two bars clearly torn between which one she should get. The woman smiled softly.
“How about this. I give you both but promise you won’t eat them both at once. I don’t want your mom hunting me down.” The woman looked at Mary and gave her a wink. Did she just... no... but she had to…
With her candy bars in hand Vida tried to fit them in her plastic jack o'lantern bucket with little success. Mary chuckled and held out the tote bag that she brought with her. Did she expect to fill the whole bag? No, Zelda might murder her. But Vida’s bucket wasn’t very big and would fill up pretty quick. The tote bag was there to help with that, as well as hold the flashlight that Mary brought with her just in case. Vida got the hint and placed the bars in the bag.
“Thank you very much! Happy Halloween!”
“Happy Halloween!” Vida and Mary waved the woman goodbye. One house down several more to go.
______________________
Mary decided to call an end to the trick or treating at seven. They have been out for a few hours and Vida was starting to get tired. They took a break when they finished the first neighborhood but that only stalled the problem for a little while. Halfway through the town center Vida started to complain that her feet were hurting. While yes she was tired it was bigger than that. Her shoes were physically hurting her. Mary understood and called it a night, she picked Vida up and walked back to her car. Despite that, Vida had a pretty good haul. She had to empty her jack o’lantern twice and it was half full when they called it quits. It stacked up to a nice size pile that Mary could just see Zelda scowling at.
When they arrived at Mary’s house Mary helped Vida remove her tights to see if there were any injuries. The back of the poor little girl's ankle was scraped up. It wasn’t bleeding but it looked pretty raw. After relieving Vida of her shoes they had some dinner. Mary wasn’t a cook by any means so the best she could manage was pasta with some sauce. Vida didn’t make a big fuss. While Vida was eating Mary went through the backpack that Zelda left for Vida. Inside was a change of clothes, pajamas, a stuffed bear, a blanket, hairbrush, toothbrush and toothpaste in a zip lock bag, and a DVD, a double feature of The Addams Family. What wasn’t in there were bath supplies so Zelda wasn’t expecting Vida to bathe while she was with Mary but Mary decided to let Vida decide.
“Vida did you want to take a quick bath or shower? I can get the movie set up while you do that.” Vida tilted her head back in thought.
“What’s a shower?”
“It’s like a bath but you stand and the water comes down in a continuous spray.”
“I still don’t understand but I’m willing to try it.” Okay, alright, now what?
Deciding that it would be too inappropriate for her to be in the bathroom with Vida Mary got the bathroom ready. She started the shower, laid out a towel, and left Vida’s pajamas on the counter top. The last thing she did was brush out Vida’s braids, if she left them in water would get trapped and it would dry stiff. With one last check of the water temperature, it was ready for Vida.
“Okay Vida it’s all set up for you. There’s some soap and a sponge on the wall and I have a towel laid out for you. I don’t have any shampoo for you so don’t worry about washing your hair. Don’t worry about shutting the shower off. I’ll do it. I’ll be right outside if you need me. Okay?” Vida looked at her, she was a little scared but nodded. In she went, the door closed softly behind her. Five minutes later she was out, dressed in her pajamas and hair laid out on her shoulders in damp ringlets. “Finished?” Vida nodded.
“It was nice. Thank you Mary.”
“You’re welcome. I’m going to get changed myself so you can wait here for me or you can head downstairs if you like.” Vida nodded and she brushed past Mary to head downstairs. Mary gave a sigh of relief when she shed her Gomez costume. Between the stiffness of the actual costume and the clip digging into the back of her head it felt nice to let the slight breeze that was in her house wash over her. She really wanted to shower but decided that she couldn’t leave Vida on her own for that long. She would just have to live with her cotton sleep shorts and tshirt and her robe. It still felt refreshing. Vida was on the couch when she came downstairs. She wedged herself between the pillows and her bear was on her lap.
“So how about that movie?”
“Yes!” Mary didn’t need to be told twice. Turning on the DVD player Mary popped in the movie. She debated on whether or not she should make popcorn but decided against it. She didn’t want to feed Vida too much and make her sick nor did she want to end up on Zelda’s bad side. They made it though half of the first movie before Vida was out like a light. Mary carried her upstairs and settled her in the middle of the bed with the comforter tucked around her. It was still too early for Mary so she went back downstairs. After some light cleaning Mary poured herself a glass of wine and picked up the book that her W.I.C.C.A. club was reading, The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison. Rosalind Walker already read the book, led a protest on the books ban which was why they were reading it. Mary wanted the group to touch on the elements of the actual book as well as the politics behind it, mainly why it was banned. It wasn’t a school requirement nor a group one, participation was purely voluntary. Mary was proud to be a part of it. Though it wasn’t a school read, Mary was treating it as such so her plan was to read it once, absorb it, and then make notes. As the advisor she felt obligated to be prepared.
At around eleven her eyes started to get tired. So she finished the chapter that she was on and called it a night. There was a little bit of wine left so she downed it and then placed the glass in the sink to soak for the night. That’s when there was a knock on her door. How odd. Her house was out of the way, so she wasn’t the one to get casual visitors. With caution she opened the door and was met with an exhausted Zelda Spellman. Mary wasn’t expecting to see Zelda, and she definitely wasn’t expected to be kissed within an inch of her life but you won’t see her complaining. However, they didn’t have the pleasure for things to escalate any further. It was late and Vida was just upstairs. Mary led Zelda upstairs and set her up with some night clothes just like she did on their first date. Mary climbed into bed but waited for Zelda. Vida murmured a little and scooted closer to Mary. When Zelda climbed into the free side of the bed she leaned over Vida to give her a quick kiss and then kissed her daughter’s cheek goodnight. Mary settled down and before she knew it was fast asleep.
__________________
When Mary woke up the bed was empty but the house didn’t feel empty. Though it was faint, Mary could detect some noise coming from downstairs. Mary followed it and was kind of taken back. Vida was on the couch, the movie playing where it left off last night. Zelda was in the kitchen, the smell of freshly brewed coffee and the sound of bacon simmering in the pan wafted from the kitchen. Vida was the first to notice her. She smiled and held her bear close to her chest.
“Morning Mary!” That caught Zelda’s attention. She smiled softly at her.
“Morning.” Mary nodded and made her way over to Zelda. On her way she ruffled Vida’s hair. Vida pulled back but she giggled and remained smiling. When Mary reached Zelda she hesitated. Though they have slept in the same bed and Vida has witnessed some moments between them that line hasn't been laid out yet. What was considered okay and what was considered inappropriate? That was up to Zelda, and Zelda decided that kissing was okay. She kissed Mary squarely on the lips and Mary was totally okay with that. She knew enough that it couldn’t escalate any further than that, it couldn’t be like last night, and that was okay too. Mary returned it, kept it nice and simple, that was enough.
“What are you making?”
“Eggs, bacon, and pancakes. I figured you earned a little reward for what you did last night.”
“It was no trouble. It was fun. Hey Vida!” Vida’s tiny head popped up over the armrest of her couch. “Do you want to show your mom all the candy you collected?” Vida nodded enthusiastically and scrambled to get the tote bag that Mary left near the front door. She brought the bag to the table and dumped it onto the wooden surface. The result was a good sized mountain made of pure sugar and chocolate. And Zelda turned as white as a ghost.
Mary was right, she did give it the scowls to end all scowls. Vida just smiled and Mary popped a candy corn into her mouth to try, and fail, to hide her smirk. Zelda turned the scowl onto her and her smirk cost her being hit in the hip with a kitchen towel.
Worth it.

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark Review
I really enjoyed Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark! While I preferred Goosebumps as a kid, the three Scary Stories books were also an ever-present part of my childhood and I can vividly remember reading them by flashlight with the lights off. The vast majority of my early knowledge of urban legends came from the stories in those books and they certainly helped build my love of spooky things in general as well as the “kids encounter the supernatural” sub-genre of horror/sci-fi specifically. I haven’t read the books in years (though I still have them), but this movie made me want to revisit them because it’s so good!
Full Spoilers…
Scary Stories is anchored by very strong performances from its teen cast. The main kids do really well with the material they’re given, crafting protagonists that touch on standard teen archetypes but that are also fleshed out, especially Zoe Margaret Colletti (Stella) and Michael Garza (Ramon). Stella is the most well-rounded and explored character in the film, and Colletti displays a huge range of emotion! She capably led the movie and she clearly has a bright career ahead of her. I liked that Stella was the most into horror and nerdy things among her friends, but no one treated that as weird even in this film’s era (girls have always been into nerdy stuff too!). The one thing I wanted more of in terms of her character was why “everyone said” it was her fault that her mother left. Feeling responsible for the absence of a parent is a common childhood misconception, but it seemed weird to frame it as something the whole town would be telling her without also giving a reason for it (though it did give her a connection to Sarah’s own persecution by the entire town, even if only in Stella’s mind). It was really cool of the movie to draw Ramon as the mysterious outsider kid rather than some troubled/tough white kid. That lent the movie a fresh feel while also touching on the racism of the period (which is still in full force today; one of many grounded horrors the movie dabbles in that are very much as relevant now as they were in the film’s 1968 setting). Garza brought an effortless coolness to Ramon that felt appropriately period while also acting as a great mask for his fears. Ramon and Stella’s budding romance was sweet and cute too.
Auggie (Gabriel Rush) and Chuck (Austin Zajur) were no slouches either, providing most of the film’s comic relief while also capably playing real terror and friendship. The two of them and Stella felt extremely natural as friends since childhood and Ramon also effortlessly blended into the group; these four kids’ chemistry was fantastic! At first I wished we'd gotten more personal connections between Chuck and especially Auggie’s fears and their personalities: most victims here face stories pulled from their established fears and anxieties, but Chuck and Auggie’s initially felt more random. A personalized connection to the stories the book used against them after “reading them” would enhance the scares and illuminate their characters, and after thinking about it more I think I may have an idea of what they're going for. I could buy Auggie as a hypochondriac, so eating a toe would be horrifying, and he seems to be the most afraid of spooky things among his circle of friends, so maybe his story is attuned to him, but just felt generic because of the more generalized nature of his fears. Chuck’s story is based on a recurring nightmare he has, but I think it’s more personal than that. The Pale Lady (Mark Steger) could be punishment for Chuck’s objectification of women via his pen, but I’m wondering if perhaps that pen is a front (given how quick to show it off he is, to prove his interest in it) and he’s secretly gay. He scoffs at Auggie’s attraction to Ruth (Natalie Ganzhorn), he’s attacked by the book in a mental hospital (homosexuality was classified as a mental illness in 1968), and his nightmare calls its red room (which turns out to be the entire building when the alarm lights come on) “an evil place” (conversion therapy is torture). I think the Pale Lady is a manifestation of conformity and traditional relationships being forced onto him (or rather, forcing him into their narrow definitions by literally absorbing him): she’s everywhere and he can’t outrun or escape her.
Chuck’s sister Ruth also got some solid depth: though initially introduced as a stuck-up and cliché popular teen, they quickly had her stand up for her brother. The fact that both of them annoyed one another but they still raced to help each other made their relationship feel very real. That she’s helping continue the search for him at the end of the film instead of being condemned to insanity forever or something is awesome too! Tommy (Austin Abrams) was the only teen character that was really written as one-note, but it was a frightening note, both because of the violence and racism he exuded and the fact that he could easily be a modern radicalized teen, filled with all the same kinds of hate, rage, and eagerness to go off and kill people in a pointless war that you can find online nowadays. Now that I think about it, Chief Turner (Gil Bellows) was also written fairly single-mindedly and he was also a villain. I wonder if that’s intentional: these human villains don’t have redeeming qualities or sympathetic backstories, so their racism and ugliness is fully on them. Of course, continuing to embrace racism is always fully on the racist, but this film isn’t even trying to make excuses for why they might be like that. I think the movie’s saying there really isn’t anything more to people who are this consumed by hate and ignorance. There’s no point in trying to reason with them because they’re exactly what they present to the world (except they’re not strong like they pretend: they’re just scared straw men).
The movie’s main villain, Sara Bellows (Kathleen Pollard), does have more layers to her than these human ghouls: despite being “evil,” she’s presented as (initially) being a victim whose only crime was trying to warn the town about mercury poisoning in the water. After taking her revenge on her family for committing and torturing her, Sarah’s decline into unfocused rage parallels Stella’s inability to let go of her feeling that she drove her mother away nicely. I wonder if part of Sarah’s reason for attacking the kids just for finding and taking her book was because she thought they’d lie about her too; it’s when Stella promises to write and tell her story faithfully that she relents, after all. Skimming through the books again after seeing the movie, I realized I’d forgotten they were written to help you scare the people you were reading to, so I liked that Sarah telling stories tailored to her victims was her method of vengeance and that Stella had to help tell her story to end the terror. Those are cool ways to honor the structure of the books.
The film has a great mix of jump scares (some of which did work on me), gross-out imagery (Auggie and that toe, man!), body horror (Tommy’s fate was brutal and painful-looking!), and real-life terror (Ramon running from the draft resonated with me a lot; even as a kid growing up in the 90s, being drafted to go die in some war was a major fear of mine). It was sobering to see just how many of the societal problems of the late 60s (racism, pollution, white boy rage/toxic masculinity, useless wars, the wealthy screwing over everyone for profit, no one listening to women, etc.) still haven’t been solved today. I do wish the movie were a little scarier, but the overall tone is wonderfully spooky (and decidedly “fall,” which was great), while the comic relief breaks up the tension nicely. The design of the monsters is very cool, with some of them looking like they walked right out of the books. The pacing is brisk, the directing, writing, and score are all solid, and the actors all bring their A-game. Sarah Bellows’ book was a good way to weave the original series’ stories together and I really liked that our heroes don’t just forget or ignore what they’ve been through and walk away from the terror at the end of the movie. Instead, Stella, her father (Dean Norris), and Ruth are actively headed off to rescue Chuck and Auggie. I love that, like in the real world, you can’t just let evil fester: you’ve got to stand up and protect each other. Ramon also goes off to face his fears, enlisting in the army, but that was a lot more somber: I didn’t get the sense that he’ll be coming back (though I hope he will!).
I’d definitely watch More Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark and hope we get another movie (and a third one, if they want to go that far)! I love this spooky 90s literature renaissance that’s going on and I’d like to see it continue (please give me Goosebumps 3 and a show about The Adventures of the Bailey School Kids while we’re at it!). In the meantime, get your Halloween season started early, because these Scary Stories are definitely worth a trip to the theater!
