I do believe that they aren’t done with the whole race yet, but pushed the announcement for Paris for many reasons:- All the Viera had the exact same face, including the ears. When it was asked to the Lead Concept Artist if the folded ears will be available, she answered yes, but we only saw some arts of those.- If you take a close look none of them have a tail, while it’s clearly showed on the concept arts. Unless they manage to fit it on this quite unpractical outfit.You clearly see this when the camera spin around the Viera running in the wood. She had no tail at all. Or a detachable one.- The emotes used for the video was the Au ra ones.- The art showing the male have the same flair as every single other base outfit you begin the game with. Those might have been early concept or close to what we’ll get.- I know they said that everybody would have Fran’s outfit, but I am really unsure of that. Giving an important / emblematic outfit of a character appearing in the game before was available in three different ways and no more: F.A.T.E (cf FFXIII events), Veteran reward (FFVII Advent Child and FFIX outfit) our Moogle Shop. Fran’s outfit is very specific so it does make sense to make it Viera exclusive, does it mean that it will be instantly available ? I am actually not sure despite what they said.

Lastly, something I’m not 100% sure but people will probably discuss about:- Every single Viera in the video seem to be of the same height, same sliders, same everything except the skin color. It is possible that they only took Fran’s already ready body + outfit and changed the head to make the video quickly. If you have a close look, you might notice that if they somehow look different, it’s only related to the camera angle and the pose of the character.

I hope I helped Anon, we cannot be sure of anything for now, what I wrote is only to advice people to not make hasty conclusion. While there is only 5 months left before the game’s release, it is possible that when they prepared everything they didn’t progress enough to show the final appearance of the Viera, including the males one.The reason why they chose to show such an incomplete project might be related to how many people were asking to see them or because they want to release something even more special for the Japan Fanfest.

I am aware that people might be disappointed, hyped or in between, I still want to remind those who will read those lines that we’re playing a game where the staff is always listening to the players. This is a chance we have and so far, it’s the only game where I saw such deep relationship between players and staff. We asked for housing ? We got housing. We wanted the Gold Saucer ? We got the Gold Saucer. Don’t forget that we got this only because we asked.FFXIV team really cares of what the players want and that’s why Viera will be available on 5.0, do you really think that they will release something that already caused so much problem with Miqo’te and Roegadyn in 1.0 ?
