Must be the eyes (Teacher!Agatha x Fem!Student!Reader)
Tumblr media
Here it is! first part of the TxS au! Let’s get this party started!
----
"And who exactly was the villain then, Miss Y/L/N?" You gnashed your teeth when your teacher looked at you behind the frame of her glasses, with her piercing, stupidly beautiful blue eyes and a raised eyebrow.
You flinched a bit from her gaze, but you refused to back down, you never had and you weren't going to start now, no matter how hot your cheeks got or how close this damn woman stood to you.
Agatha Harkness, Westview’s University history professor, terror of the first years and your crush since the first class you had with her. Her blue eyes had captivated you from the first moment, as had her slightly wavy hair and mocking smile. Her sarcastic and dry sense of humor was also something you loved, plus she was incredibly smart and not afraid to show it. Beautiful, smart and taught your favorite subject. Yup, you were completely under her spell.
But you hated it when she argued with you in front of the whole class, especially for things like this. It always made you feel so small and helpless, even if you didn’t show it on the outside.
She had asked your class for an essay on Greek myths, and you had chosen Medusa’s. Miss Harkness had said that you should express your views, with clear and concise arguments, which took you most of the week to investigate. But it seemed that you had not been clear enough.
Either that, or your teacher really hated you and enjoyed challenging you in front of your classmates, expecting you to break up and argue with her, so she could send you to detention. Well, you wouldn't let her win that easy.
You forced a smile and looked up. She was right in front of your chair, looking down at you as she waited for your answer.
"Athena and Poseidon" you said confidently "They are the villains"
"Interesting posture" she smiled, but it was a smile that reminded you of the cheshire cat "Although that doesn't take away the blame for the lives she took, does it?"
"It wasn't her fault either," you said, frowning.
"Oh it wasn’t?" she asked. You suppressed a gasp when she rested her hands on your table and leaned forward. You could feel her minty breath on your face "And whose fault was it, Miss Y/L/N?" she asked.
"Men’s" you gulped "Those who went to look for her"
"Explain" she ordered. Her eyes never once left your face.
"They went looking for her. They tried to kill her, what was she supposed to do? Let herself be killed? Besides, it wasn't her fault that Athena turned her into that, she didn't ask to turn people to stone" you said, crossing your arms and leaning toward back in your seat.
Anyone would think that your gesture was one of challenge, considering that your face was neutral and your eyebrow was raised slightly. But inside you were screaming and having a panic attack.
Agatha smirked in her head at your attitude. She wouldn't tell anyone even if she was under torture, but she loved having these little discussions with you. You were the only student brave enough to argue with her, and you were brilliant in the way you did.
On the other hand, you were also incredibly cute and she would lie if she said that she didn't like to make you blush, your eyes lit up a bit and the red on your cheeks really contrasted beautifully with your skin. She knew it was wrong, that as a teacher she shouldn't find any of her students attractive. But she couldn't help it, there was something about you that just fascinated her.
Most of her fellow teachers had already noticed the strange dynamic she had with you, but they took it as a simple student/teacher rivalry, stemming from the fact that you seemed like a history prodigy, which presented a vast battlefield for Agatha, it was no secret that the woman was competitive, after all.
The only one who seemed a little suspicious of what was really going on was Wanda, the literature teacher. She had been one of the best students in the university and had returned as a teacher 5 years ago and because their subjects shared a field of investigation, she and Agatha ended up spending more and more time together, until they became good friends.
It was fun having someone to judge and gossip about both the staff and the student body. But that also meant having to endure the teasing of the younger woman every time you walked by Agatha.
Of course, she had scolded Wanda for even suggesting that she was attracted to you, a student, and the redhead had apologized, saying that she was only joking, but she wasn't sure how long it would be before her friend became suspicious again. Not that the history teacher was that subtle with the way she looked at you.
Still, Agatha Harkness had certain principles, and she knew that she couldn't flirt with you as long as you were her student, so she was content to make you blush and nervous when she was around you.
“She broke Athena’s rules” she said, almost growling.
“Poseidon raped her. That wasn't her fault” you growled back. You cursed yourself for being so passionate about this. Your classmates probably thought you were an idiot for fighting a teacher.
"You seem quite determined to defend the monster," she accused, frowning. She pushed herself off your bench and turned to the rest of the class, letting you breathe for a second. "Not many people would pay attention to Medusa, a hideous and dangerous creature. But she seems to have won Miss Y/L/N’s heart" she said, making your classmates laugh and you blushed again.
"It must be the eyes" you mumbled without thinking.
Your teacher looked at you for a moment before smirking. Fortunately, it seemed like she didn't have time to keep arguing with you. Blessed heavens for that. You heard the ring bell and sighed in relief, starting to pack your things.
“Remember that the project is due for next monday” Ms Harkness said and you hear some groans from your classmates. You chuckled as you left the classroom.
“It’s not fair” you heard your friend Nick saying beside you “She didn’t give us enough time!”
“What do you mean?” you asked “I finished it three days ago”
“But you don’t count!” he frowned “you’re good at history! I can’t even remember my sister’s birthday!”
“Nick, you don’t have a sister” you rolled your eyes fondly
“And? I wouldn’t remember her birthday anyway”
You laughed and playfully punched his shoulder. You and Nick have been friends since your first day here and you were thankful for that. He was the only one who knew about your crush on Ms Harkness, which was a blessing but also a nightmare. He loved to embarrass you.
“So, what was that Y/N?” He asked suddenly
“What?” you frowned
“The whole Medusa’s thing”
“Well, she wasn’t a monster and-”
“No no, don’t give me a history lesson, I already had enough of that. I was talking about you and ‘Ms magical eyes’ almost kissing” he smirked as you coughed and almost tripped.
“What?!” you hissed “The hell you’re talking about?!”
“Oh c’mon Y/N!!” Nick laughed “She was practically lying over you!”
“That’s not true” you crossed your arms
“It is” he crossed his arms too “Y/N,I love you, but you can be so blind sometimes”
“What is that supposed to mean?” you asked, a little offended
“Y/N, we all could feel the sexual tension between you two” he laughed and left you frozen in the hall.
_____________
“No” Agatha frowned and crossed her arms
“Please” Wanda begged
“No, I’m not going to babysit a bunch of spoiled kids” the older woman said
“Okay, first of all, they’re college students, not from the kindergarden” the redhead frowned “and this could be an amazing opportunity!”
“For what? I already know about the Salem trials, love, I’m more than capable of teach my students about it without having to taking them there”
“But it would be more fun for them” Wanda argued
“I teach history, buttercup, it’s not supposed to be fun for them” the brunette smirked while the other woman rolled her eyes.
“We both know you don’t actually think that. You love your class and want them to love it too”
When the other woman shrugged and started reading again, totally ignoring her, Wanda knew it was time for plan B. She kneeled in front of Agatha and gave her puppy eyes.
“Pleaaaase” she cried “I need another teacher if I want permission to do the trip”
“Then ask Monica” Agatha said, not looking up from her book
“She has a game next week with the basketball team” Wanda said “Besides, as the history teacher, your class is the most similar to mine, it just makes sense if we both go”
“I’m not going Maximoff, period”
Wanda sighed and stood. “Fine. Thanks for nothing, Harkness” she pouted and left the teacher’s room.
Agatha rolled her eyes, she knew the other woman would get over it in a few hours.
____________
“I just say that witches are cool” you said as you and Nick walked through the hall
“They are Y/N, but visiting an old town isn’t exactly my idea for a good summer trip” he said and you rolled your eyes “Why don’t you go to Disneyland instead?” he joked
“Because I hate gigantic amusement parks” you said “And I really want to visit Salem, it was my dream since i was 9 and i read about witches from the first time. But you know I don't have enough money to do both trips. So, Salem it is for me”
Nick sighed “Alright, you do you, history girl” he joked “But try not to get cursed while you’re there, i don’t want my best friend to be a frog”
You laughed and he put an arm around your shoulders. None of you noticed the brunette teacher walking out of the teacher’s room and who totally heard your conversation.
_____________
Wanda jumped when her office door opened with a slam. She looked at a frowning Agatha, who had her arms crossed and let out a sigh.
“Alright, you win” the brunette said “We’re going to Salem”
The redhead smiled and quickly stood up to run to her friend and hug her tightly.
“Thank you, thank you, thank you!” she said.
“But!” Agatha said, gently pushing the younger woman to lock eyes with her “I pick the class we’re taking with us”
“Deal!”

I’d like to make the point that the light god, the dude who killed Oz repeatedly and abused Salem to the point that she became the villainous being that we know today, is somehow on the “Heroes Wiki.”
You know, not like she demanded special treatment, tried going behind his back and tried to destroy him and his brother all because she demanded that the cycle of death not apply to who she wants.
Because I guess abusers are heroes now.
Says the creator of the ‘Savivor Mom Raven’ series.
Oh, and also, I HAD TO USE GODDAMN SOUTH PARK AS PART OF MY OPENER!
Incorrectly might I add as both the Light and Dark gods are not portrayed as directly opposing each other. So you’re mad you ‘had’ to use a show’s meme...incorrectly.
Let’s get this out of the way for any of idiots out there: Salem was NOT responsible for Humanity 1.0′s death. She may have provoked these two asshats, but she wasn’t the one who
1: Loaded the gun.
2: Aimed the gun.
3: Fired the gun.
By the same logic, people say Yang murdered Adam. How does that go with you again?
What did Salem do?- She just stood up to them and, inadvertently, gave them a target.
She directly lied to the first iteration of humanity after being punished for lying to the gods and being directly told she shouldn’t have done that all over demanding her husband be brought back to life even though God knows how many people die and aren’t brought back by the gods despite having just as much reason to want them back as Salem.
As far as I’m concerned, these gods were the villains of the story, and what I wouldn’t give to see Yang punch one of them in the face.
Probably because it’s a penis vs. vagina for you.
When making these “Godly” characters, it’s okay to give them flaws. In fact, that’s what makes the Greek Gods, Norse Gods, Japanese Gods, and Egyptian Gods so interesting. They have flaws, weaknesses, and more relatable personality aspects that makes it seem like we could have the guy responsible for the ocean’s tides as our next door neighbor, or the adorable little dog across the street as the one responsible for the sun coming up… and beating up a fish in a giant mech suit. Goddamn, I want to play Okami again.
I got off-topic. The point is, is that it’s okay for these Gods to give flawed advice… Provided that they gave advice at all.
See, Light God was insensitive to Salem’s plight, and in all likelihood, used the same rhetoric that her father used to lock her up in that tower as an excuse to just brush her off.
Salem: (falling to her knees) Please... Please, bring him back to me.
God of Light: I understand your pain, but you demand of me that which I cannot make so. Life and death are part of a delicate balance.
Such terrible rhetoric.
BTW, funny how you mention the Greek Gods. You want to know what the role of most Greek Gods are in their home myths?
Living Embodiments of Punishing Pride.
Helena Of Troy’s mother, Narcassist and Echo, Odysseus, Arachne, Midas-
Most of the targets of the gods were people who dared to act arrogant and like they were better/deserved more with the Gods smiting them for their fatal sin. Even the Gods themselves weren’t exempt from this, as many of them fell prey to their own pride and arrogance with the few (mostly) unscathed Gods being that way because they were significantly less prideful. Fuck, the Greek Gods came to be because Chronos was so cocky he could just eat his kids that it never occurred to him that his wife Rhea would trick him.
In fact, an always noteworthy story I remember was the tale of Orpheus and Euradyice, where a man traveled to the Underworld using his musical talents and demanded to have his wife brought back to life. It ALMOST didn’t work but he was just able to convince Hades on the condition that he not turn back on his way home. Spoiler Alert, he did out of a lack of faith in Hades, his wife WAS following him but he lost her because of it.
I bring this up because the Greek Gods were the INSPIRATION for the Brothers and I’d bet dollars to donuts that Orpheus’ tale was the inspiration for Salem and Ozma. You try to act like you know something about these things but completely ignore that hubris, the thing that fucked Salem over, was a running theme in the source of her backstory.
Tumblr media
So when Salem goes to Dark God, and he does fulfill her request, it’s honestly like Salem is now picking a side. Except, it turns out that Dark God actually has to answer to the Light God.
God of Light: I know we have our differences, but I have not come here with the aim to control you. The same, however, cannot said for her. This woman came to you only after I denied her pleas – pleas that would have disrupted the balance that you and I created. Together.
The younger brother ponders this revelation.
God of Darkness: Then it seems I owe you an apology. Allow me to correct my mistake.
No he doesn’t. But nice cut context.
Does the relationship between the gods seem… manipulative to anyone? Like… The Light God (Fuck it, let’s call him “Lumin” for now, I’m not typing out that whole thing) is abusive to his brother?
Considering what I quoted above- Nope.
Acording to… I think it was Qrow, possibly in a WOR, the Dark God (Let’s call him “Ebon” because that’s a badass name, and I’m honestly not in the mood for “Light = Good, Dark = Evil” to be the underlying theme here) made his creations first. then Lumin was all “I can make something too!” and made humans to one-up his brother.
RWBY Volume 4 Episode 8 “A Much Needed Talk”
Qrow: They were two brothers. The older sibling, the God of Light, found joy in creating forces of life. Meanwhile, the younger brother, the God of Darkness, spent his time creating forces of destruction. As you can imagine, they both had pretty different ideas about how things should go. The older one would spend his days creating water, plants, wildlife. And at night, his brother would wake to see all the things that the elder had made and become disgusted. To counteract his brother's creations, the God of Darkness brought drought, fire, famine, all he could do to rid Remnant of life. Life always returned. So one night, the younger brother went and made something - something that shared his innate desire to destroy anything and everything.
Ruby: The creatures of Grimm.
Qrow: You guessed it. The older brother finally had enough. Knowing that their feud couldn't last like this forever, he proposed that they make one final creation... together, something that they could both be proud of, their masterpiece. The younger brother agreed. This last great creation would be given the power to both create and destroy. It would be given the gift of knowledge, so that it could learn about itself and the world around it. And most importantly, it would be given the power to choose, to have free will to take everything it had learned and decide which path to follow - the path of light or the path of darkness. And that is how Humanity came to be.
You misrepresent the show AND got it backwards. The God of Light created things first, then The God of Darkness and Humanity was a joint project.
Why should we consider you at all reliable, especially given how easy it would be to research this?
Like… Does that at all seem healthy to you?
No in fact, The God of Darkness is kind of a jackass. But nice job portraying your delusions as the exact opposite dumbass.
But regardless of that relationship, Lumin basically acted like that one abusive parent who destroys all of the child’s toys just because they went to the other parent to do something that the first parent was callous in denying them to do. Sorry if that brought up any bad memories for people.
More like they took the toy away when the child tricked the other parent into buying it even though the first said no.
Not to mention the relics. Outside of their purpose to resummon the gods, they don’t really do much. But these are literal artifacts left behind by said gods.
Plus, Lumin give Oz an impossible task of uniting humanity. It’s like he wants Oz to fail because he just wants an excuse to wipe them all out again.
How is it impossible when Humanity was united BEFORE SALEM?
Lumin treats humankind as an “experiment gone wrong” as if he’s just playing with peoples’ lives for his own amusement. If anything, Ebon is more sympathetic because he actually listens to their problems and wants to help them out.
Yeah-
The God of Darkness created the Grimm that make Remnant such a horrible place to live and was the one that killed all of humanity.
God of Darkness: My own gift to them... used against me.
The God of Light looks away in disappointment as the God of Darkness squeezes the sphere within his hand, creating a massive shockwave that envelops the world, smiting everything and everyone in its path. Humanity has been turned to dust, only Salem remains due to her immortality.
How is he more sympathetic?
Meanwhile Lumin is all “Sucks that your man died. Now get out.” at best.
We get it- You’re delusional.
Let’s take a look at another set of flawed gods in the form of The Norse Pantheon. Namely, Odin, Loki, and Thor. In myth, these guys were all given tasks that were basically impossible. Thor was tasked with drinking the ocean, and failed. Odin wrestled with time, and was brought down. And Loki lost an eating contest to fire. These flaws and weaknesses in regards to their hubris are part of them.
Meanwhile, Apollo lost a love to Eros because he said that he couldn’t shoot as well as him but I guess you’d assume Eros was the bad guy.
I mentioned this briefly in my “Done dirty: Oz” post, but Oz was basically brought back to cause conflict. Because… I guess Lumin was bored?
Or you know- a second chance to have the gifts of the Brothers again.
But the narrative wants people to see that Lumin and Ebon are “All good. All caring. And all knowing.”
Which is a load of bullshit. The narrative tries to paint Salem as some unsympathetic witch who couldn’t let go. When…
1: The woman was abused and locked in a tower until Oz came to rescue her.
2: She was willing to fight God to get him back. If anything, that shows true love. If you want my opinion, if you’re not willing to deck a deity in the nose for your loved one, then you don’t care about them (Take that, Abraham. Willing to sacrificing your own son just because your God told you to. Bet you wouldn’t see that from Amaterasu).
1. Doesn’t matter. There have to be people living just as bad if not WORSE than Salem and lost loved ones- it’s literally the rules EVERYONE has to abide by.
2. No, she tried to fight two gods because she was pissy. She never tried to fight them until AFTER lying to the God of Darkness and lead people to their deaths. All in the name of a legendary HERO, someone who WOULDN’T want to be brought back after all this death.
What I’m saying is that these gods are detached. Which would be an interesting aspect if the narrative had bothered to show that as being a bad thing.
So were the Greek Gods. Not the point of either one.
Then again, this is all being told by Jinn, a creation of the Gods (Namely Lumin). So maybe there’s some bias in there where they’re trying to make Salem out to be irredeemable while the gods are the undisputed good guys- and holy SHIT!- Jinn’s in on the gaslighting.
Tumblr media
i mean… I still want everyone to eventually realize that Salem was gaslighted into being the villain of the story. because that sounds way better than the “Abused woman lashes out and becomes evil” angle that they seem to be going at.
Yeah and Adam was branded. Guess that means you think Adam was in right to chop off Yang’s arm then.
Funny thing there- You literally can’t redeem Adam OR Salem and keep the other evil without looking hypocritical because they committed the SAME FUCKING SINS.
But given the writers’ ability to handle racism (or lack thereof), I don’t exactly have a lot of confidence in this.
Way to reference the plotline with the walking counter example in it.
Then again, the did call her Salem…
… But also again, they did write the WF plot as that horrible mess…
But they also looked into a lot of fairy tale aspects for their characters…
While you didn’t do a lick of research or else you’d know the shit about the Greek Gods.
Then again, you couldn’t even be bothered to confirm the shit about the Brothers even as you openly say ‘I don’t remember this clearly.’ So what really should I expect?

Hello! Um, idk how to exactly explain what I want to say, but you seem like a really kind person so I think you will understand. So, I am a 14 year-old-girl that has been a Christian for as long as I rememember. The environment I live is quite religious as well. I didn't have a problem with it for, as you see, I was a kid and didn't think too much of religion in general. ~Um, apparently I reached the world limit so please wait to write the rest in an other ask XD *sorry* ~~
~~um, still me XD~~ But since last May or April, I became interested in the ancient greek culture. I actually DO live in Greece, so it was pretty easy to visit many of the gods' temples and other ancient places. I fell in love with them and, I should not lie, I felt like home around them. You have no idea, how much I wanted to touch the exhibits or walk into the temples. Tho, I didn't think too much of it. ~~ ugh, still have a lot to say. Sorry sorry!! :/ ~~
*again me*While I was on Naxos, the sacred island of Dionysus, I visited the temples of Demeter, Apollo and Dionysus. In the temple of Dionysus, I LOVED the aura around me. Even if it was the most plain in comparison to the other two, I had liked it more. Short after, Dionysus' name was popping on my head all the time, alongside Ariadne. Now, I understood the reason I liked Ariadne; I saw a lot of myself in her. But Dionysus? *oof I AM SORRY, i need an other one*
*I don't exactly remember how, but suddenly for some reason, he started feel more "real". To be short, judging from his followers' post on Tumblr, he was "calling me". "Who me?" I thought. I was not a witch. Nor a pagan. Why? And most importantly why me? You see, I was never the girl who partied a lot, the social, extroverted, confident girl. I was always the shy, introverted, sensitive and insecure girl who would much rather stay at home on Saturday night. *ok, AGAIN i am sorry ;-;*
*There was a time that my intuition told me he was present, in some way I did not understand, in my room. I felt he was talking inside my head. He was gentle I have to say, but I was terrified. TERRIFIED. I had read all the stories about his "madness", and while they seemed cool, being REAL had me spooked. I told him in my head to get out and I almost shakily said that I would never be able to work with him, for the reasons I said. I felt I was not worthy enough for someone like him. *oof, again*
*The last thing I heard him saying was "But you do have a flame of madness. And it is ok to be shy". But you see, those things clashed with my religious beliefs and I called him a demon. I didn't know what to do. I felt so young for all of this. Days after, I had to persuade myself that it was not real. I think that he was trying to reach me more slowly but, again, I was terrified. However, I could not refuse that everytime I thoughg of him I felt more confident and that my anxiety was dying. **
*To finish, even I had tried to sweep it off, even if I never had any other episodes, I kind of felt that some gods' like as Dionysus, Apollo and maybe Aphrodite were watching over me (in the good way). Today, I scrolled through your blog, and I read all the asks you had answered to people sharing simiral experiences and you saying "it is ok to feel scared". Something in your tone made me believe you. The gods didn't feel so scary suddenly. And more real.

Disclaimer: I am not Greek, have never been to or lived in Greece which is a completely different country than my own with different rules and history, so the only information I can draw from are the internet, articles, Wikipedia and intuitive nudges from my gods.
Please understand that the advice are all personal opinions and everyone is free to agree/disagree with it. I don't mean to offend anyone who is actually Greek or was raised in Greece. These are all viewpoints from an outsider who works with Greek gods in the USA. So keep that in mind as you continue...
Hello!
Thank you for calling me a kind person, my goal in life is to become a teacher and help as much as I can, so thank you for that. 🤗
There is no need to be afraid but I understand why you are nervous. The gods are reaching out to you and it's a new experience.
From what I've read, Greece seems to be going through a spiritual transition. We're talking about a place where having "Greek Orthodox" as a religion labeled on your I.D was mandatory until 2001: (LINK)
I also noticed that the separation of church and state has been a very aggressive issue and fought in Greece for the last 10 years. Just a couple of years ago the Hellenic Polytheist religion dubbed Hellenismos was officially recognized by Greece in 2017: (LINK)
Tumblr media
Needless to say, things are happening in Greece (and all across Europe, the West and the world.)
This spiritual turmoil is intense. Your feelings are valid.
You are loved and the gods understand.
The reason why it took me so long to reply to this ask was because Apollo wanted me to tread lightly on how I would reply given that you live in Greece and are 14.
I have been told that Greece is a spiritually charged place. You can feel the gods there, but it's not a safe place to be out and about as a Hellenic Polytheist: (LINK)
But there's hope! More and more Greeks are beginning to worship the gods (especially younger Greeks like you): (LINK)
Because you posted a lot of information, I'm going to quote you and reply to that just so I can be sure to really answer any questions that could be bothering you or things you could be wondering about (I apologize if it gets very literal but I want to make sure to give you as much information as possible so you can make a more informed decision):
"since last May or April, I became interested in the ancient greek culture. I actually DO live in Greece, so it was pretty easy to visit many of the gods' temples and other ancient places."
Greece is a very spiritual place and the gods still live and visit their own temples because even though the majority of Greece is now Christian, I'm told they still have a very special place in the Greeks' heart and culture.
The gods know about the religious politics that no longer worship them in a religious setting but they stay with their Greek people through stories and customs.
My classical studies teacher says that although the majority of Greeks no longer worship the gods, they still value them and are defensive of them. She went to the Theater of Epidaurus by Asclepios' Temple. In the theater there is a special section traditionally reserved for the gods and seen as a kind of altar to them. When she was there, one of the actors stepped on it and got booed off of it by the Greek viewers who were deeply offended.
These reactions warm my heart because you can tell that even if they are no longer viewed as a worshipping option, they still care about the gods.
I sense the gods also go to their temples to hangout with, not only the locals, but curious tourists, Mythology fans, history buffs and Hellenic polytheist visitors.
A lot of pagans who worship them go to Greece on a pilgrimage to visit their gods (like me and my wife who will be visiting Athens this coming January.)
"I fell in love with them and, I should not lie, I felt like home around them. You have no idea, how much I wanted to touch the exhibits or walk into the temples."
I sense they have been watching you and as much as you wanted to touch the exhibits and walk in their temples, they wanted to further connect with you.
You are very important to them and feel like you are home because you are, you are connecting with gods who are older than Christianity. Gods who have been around for so long and have been worshipped by your ancestors. Ancestral connections can be very strong.
"While I was on Naxos, the sacred island of Dionysus, I visited the temples of Demeter, Apollo and Dionysus. In the temple of Dionysus, I LOVED the aura around me. Even if it was the most plain in comparison to the other two, I had liked it more."
I feel like Naxos is sacred to him, so it makes sense for him to be more present. A lot of Apollo followers who have visited Greece say they can feel Apollo the most in Delos.
"Short after, Dionysus' name was popping on my head all the time, alongside Ariadne. Now, I understood the reason I liked Ariadne; I saw a lot of myself in her........why me? You see, I was never the girl who partied a lot, the social, extroverted, confident girl. I was always the shy, introverted, sensitive and insecure girl who would much rather stay at home on Saturday night."
You said it yourself: "Now, I understood the reason I liked Ariadne; I saw a lot of myself in her" sometimes the gods like us because we remind them of those they love. For example, I know Aphrodite first began to love me because I reminded her of a tiny version of Ares. I was aggressive and when it came to fight or flight, I always chose to fight.
Sometimes the gods connect with us because we need them and they are trying to help us become a better version of ourselves. When I first met Aphrodite, you could mop the floor with my self esteem. Now, I am better about loving myself and teaching others to love themselves too.
Sometimes there's a previous connection. When I first met Ares he told me my ancestors knew him as Mars. My real last name is Roman and it literally translates to "Child of Mars." There is a lot of Roman and some ancient Greek in my ancestry (it's not necessary to have Greek in your ancestry to worship the gods but your ancestry can be the source of your connection).
Ask Dionysus directly and give him time to respond. You may be surprised with what he tells you.
"I don't exactly remember how, but suddenly for some reason, he started feel more "real". To me short, judging from his followers' post on Tumblr, he was "calling me"."
The gods are unique in the sense that they are portrayed as fictional characters because they are in timeless legends and myths, and so beloved that they have been readapted countless times like wheat that has gone through so many processing procedures, that it no longer looks like wheat.
It's easy to forget that these are gods that were once worshipped by Nations, empires and can be found in the Bible as the "false idols" of Kings who tried to get rid of Christ or oppress Jewish people.
The gods became nameless beings in cultural ceremonies you no longer understand but still do because they are now apart of your heritage, for example: in my culture we celebrate day of the Dead which was originally an Aztec tradition that didn't venerate the Dead but worshipped the queen of the underworld. Our own version of Persephone. The Spanish tried to erase her and put a Catholic spin when they couldn't get rid of the tradition and it worked but those who work with La Santa Muerte now, recognize it as her holiday because they know it originally was: (LINK)
So it's not that the gods were once fake but you are now beginning to recognize them in your own culture and traditions.
"There was a time that my intuition told me he was present, in some way I did not understand, in my room. I felt he was talking inside my head."
Those are Godphone moments. Feeling the gods, sensing them with your energy. Hearing them talk in your head. Those are all the methods I use to hear the gods. I sense the energy shift. He was definitely present. And he was definitely talking.
"He was gentle I have to say, but I was terrified. TERRIFIED. I had read all the stories about his "madness", and while they seemed cool, being REAL had me spooked."
The gods always know how to best approach their new or potential followers. Apollo is very gentle when he interacts with my wife because he knows they react best when he's gentle. He's very stern with me because he knows I work best under pressure.
The part about him having you spooked because of his "madness" reminds me of when I was 12 and I learned that my "imaginary friend" was actually the "blood thirsty" god of war, Ares. Him being real had me spooked. Even though he had been teaching me how to fight and survive since I was 5, I called him a demon and told him I didn't want to work with him because of this one dimensional idea I had read about him versus his actual personality as an amazing father and protector. He's playful and very lovable.
The myths can help us with gods but they are written by flawed humans who don't understand the complex nature of the gods. Everything you've learned about Dionysus is 4% of what survived history. And a lot of that 4% has been tainted and rewritten by the Romans and Christian monks trying to demonize the gods or make them look bad.
A lot of Apollo myths will have you believe he is a monster who likes to chase women and smite unfortunate beings who look at him but his actual followers know he's nothing like this. To me, he's cool and collected, loves reason and philosophy. The best way to learn about a god is by researching their information, epithets, followers and working with them.
Here is a list of Dionysus followers compiled by @thepastelpriestess : (LINK)
"I told him in my head to get out and I almost shakily said that I would never be able to work with him, for the reasons I said. I felt I was not worthy enough for someone like him......"
"Not worthy enough" is a problematic feeling a lot of followers have. I see this a lot amongst potential Aphrodite followers who are confused as to why the goddess of beauty would want to work with them when they feel they look ugly. The gods know what they are doing and they know you are worth so much more than you realize.
"The last thing I heard him saying was "But you do have a flame of madness. And it is ok to be shy".
He would! Ahhhhhhhhhhhh I love Dionysus!!! He's such an inspiring god! And he's right. There is something about you he loves and it is 100% okay to be shy.
"But you see, those things clashed with my religious beliefs and I called him a demon. I didn't know what to do. I felt so young for all of this."
He understands you were scared when you called him that. He knows because a lot of gods are portrayed as demons in the Bible. He knows you were scared and if you ever feel like contacting him and working with him, know he is available and will gladly do so.
I called Ares a demon when I was 12 and didn't talk to him for 15+ years. When I finally did, he immediately forgave me, said I was little and ask was forgiven because I was speaking out of fear and fear is confusion. You have every right to go about ignoring the gods and continuing your family's religion but if you change your mind, Dionysus and the gods will be there.
"Days after, I had to persuade myself that it was not real. I think that he was trying to reach me more slowly but, again, I was terrified."
Awww he knew you were scared so he was giving you time and reaching out to you occasionally.
"However, I could not refuse that everytime I thoughg of him I felt more confident and that my anxiety was dying."
Dionysus is AMAZING when it comes to fighting anxiety. In ancient Greece he helped people (especially women) overcome societal rules and follow him. Just like how he causes madness,he also helps others heal from it and since anxiety can be a type of madness caused by fear, he is definitely helping. And that may be why he wanted to work with you.
"To finish, even I had tried to sweep it off, even if I never had any other episodes, I kind of felt that some gods' like as Dionysus, Apollo and maybe Aphrodite were watching over me (in the good way)."
They are.
Apollo has been helping me answer this ask because he knows you are nervous and wants to let you know that whatever you choose it's okay. Even if you silently honer the gods in cultural settings with traditional events, they are and will continue to be with you.
They love you.
"Today, I scrolled through your blog, and I read all the asks you had answered to people sharing simiral experiences and you saying "it is ok to feel scared". Something in your tone made me believe you. The gods didn't feel so scary suddenly. And more real."
It is 100% okay to feel scared. And it is okay if you decide you'd rather not work with the gods at this time. They understand. They still love you, but they understand.
Just your curiosity was enough to make them come down and introduce themselves to you. You matter to them and no matter what you choose, they will be there for you.
I hope this helps.
May the gods remind you of your roots, remind you of your power and remind you of their love because they will always be with you.

In this headcanon, I will be describing the reworking of Loki’s origins to correspond with God of War 2018. After playing the game, I was hit with a massive wave of inspiration because the game is genuinely very accurate to Norse mythology and it explains a lot of quirks about Loki that both Marvel and Norse myth have failed to explain or elaborate on.
Just to name a few, the new additions to Loki’s backstory offer insight into:
i. Why Loki is the God of Fire despite being a Frost Giant, as Kratos was the Greek God of Fire who often wielded the element in battle. Loki’s development of fire came directly from their father.
ii. Why Loki is so small in comparison to other Frost Giants. Always described as a runt, the true reason that Loki was born so small is because they are only half Jotun and their mother had taken up the form of a mortal at the time of conception and birth. Mixed in with Kratos originally being part mortal as well, it makes sense that Loki’s size would not match that of a typical Jotun.
iii. The event in MCU that seemingly erased so many people’s memories of Odin’s horrific and bloody past ( aka, what is discussed in Thor Ragnarök ). Living through one cycle of Ragnarök gave him the ability to alter his course in life without people noticing or questioning.
iv. Why Baldur is never mentioned. Baldur is Odin’s eldest son and yet, is never mentioned or discussed. Why? Because he already died to ignite a cycle of Ragnarök. Most people don’t remember him.
v. Why Odin is so incredibly desperate to keep control over Loki. He’s already experienced a cycle of Ragnarök because of him and he wants so badly to stop it from happening again. Though this is something I’ve already touched on for years, because Ragnarök happened once, Odin’s motivation is even more dire.
vi. Why Laufey is always described as Loki’s mother in mythology where Marvel claims Laufey is Loki’s father instead and never actually discusses the other parent.
And, in all honesty, after playing the game, I felt a strong connection to the story it presented, one that could easily feed into the timeline I’ve already set in place for Loki, so I decided I was going to do some updating. I haven’t had this strong of an emotional response to something in a long time and this just came so naturally to me, I couldn’t ignore the urge to do the crossover.
A game where Loki’s actually a good guy and ultimately the hero, that calls Odin on all of his bullshit, won game of the year in 2018 and if that ain’t incredible, I don’t know what is. I saw so much of how I’ve been writing Loki for years in how the game portrayed Atreus because it focused on his knack for storytelling and his love of animals and how empathetic he truly is. All those little details resonated with me. It made my heart sing, so my updates will act accordingly.
Many years ago, deep in the forests of Viking Age Scandinavia, a seemingly mortal couple married and had an incredibly special child.
The father, Kratos, son of Zeus, a Spartan warrior, and the bringer of the end to so many deities that made up the Greek pantheon migrated and took to a life that was not his own. Seeking the life of a common mortal over the corruption of godhood, he found himself far away from home and further still from the memories he believed were better left forgotten.
The mother, Laufey, although blessed with powerful Seidr that kept even the most powerful enemies at bay, hid the truth of her origins as she wandered Midgard, claiming to be nothing more than a human witch. In reality, the woman hailed from Jotunheim, the land of the Frost Giants. Laufey wasn’t just any Jotun either, but the rightful ruler of the realm. She watched as war broke out between the Aesir and the Vanir, a war that quickly spread throughout Yggdrasil and left no realm untouched. Jotunheim did everything within its power to keep Asgard out of their realm, quickly marking themselves as a powerful adversary and painting them as a target. While Laufey wished to stay with her people, her realm was dying, and she could do nothing to save them by sitting on a throne.
With a burden resting heavily upon her shoulders and the gift of foresight, she saw a future that included a husband and a child, the foundation of salvation for not only her people but all the realms. Her purpose took her to Midgard in the disguise of an average-yet-beautiful young woman with porcelain flesh, vivid emerald eyes, and dark, ebony hair.
Not long after the pair’s first meeting, they fell in love, and quickly after that, Laufey gave birth to a redheaded child with her jewel-toned eyes. She wanted to name the newborn Loki, as she had already been calling the child Loki in her visions for years. Even her people knew the child-to-be as Loki. Kratos, however, wished to name the child Atreus, after a Spartan warrior who died in battle protecting his own, a man that Kratos admired and daresay even loved.
They decided to give the child both names, one from his father and one from his mother.
Loki ( Atreus ) spent most of his younger years with his mother. Kratos spent many days and nights away, hunting, often leaving Laufey to look after Loki on her own. She did so without complaint, enjoying the company of her beautiful baby more than even the most loving and attentive mother could. As much as her love ran deeply, though, she often found herself fearful to leave Loki’s side. He would grow up to be one of the most important people of their time, but her foresight did not offer her insight into the complications.
As a small child, Loki suffered greatly from illness, often left weak with a fever, unable to get out of bed. Sometimes, the ailment grew so severe that Laufey feared losing her child, though as Loki grew older, he grew stronger as well. Still, his ailment never seemed to fully disappear, but the risk of loss of life faded over time.
Laufey never got to see her son grow up, as she passed away when he was still quite young. Old enough to learn to hunt, read, and recite stories, but much too young to be without his mother. Especially when left with a father who, in Loki’s eyes, did not want him. Kratos was never around, hardly spoke to him, and did not seem to hold much interest in holding a relationship with him. He didn’t understand why his father remained so distant, didn’t know of the hardships that plagued the God of War, or how fearful he was of being a father without Laufey at his side.
Shortly after his mother’s funeral, as Kratos and Loki gathered Laufey’s ashes and discussed a journey to spread them across the highest mountain peak in Yggdrasil, Odin’s son turned up on their doorstep. Baldur, Odin’s eldest ( and at the time, only ) son came looking for Laufey under Odin’s orders. Odin, the “All-father” and King of Asgard, became obsessed with obtaining as much information about the future as he possibly could so he could prevent Ragnarök and therefore, his own death. Laufey, a powerful sorceress with a natural gift for predicting the future as well as Jotunheim’s rightful heir stood as a prize and a threat for the Hanged God.
Upon seeing that Kratos lived in a modest home with not one, but two beds, Baldur, a God blessed and cursed by his mother so he could never be harmed but, in turn, could never feel anything, became obsessed with hunting Kratos and uncovering what the God so desperately wished to hide. He’d believed he was looking for a sorceress to steal away and take back to Odin, but what he found ran much, much deeper.
After being discovered, Kratos and Loki ( who Kratos insisted on calling Atreus or, even more commonly, “boy” ), were forced to leave their home, lest they sit and wait patiently for the slaughter Odin’s brood was sure to deliver. Unsure of what they should or even what they could do, they turned to the one goal they both shared. Pay respects to Loki’s mother by granting her final wish of spreading her ashes across the tallest peak in Yggdrasil. Foolishly, they believed that to be a nearby mountain, but as they finally reached the tip of said mountain, they came face-to-face with Mimir, the Smartest Man Alive, as he described himself, instead. Trapped in a tree that grew around and threw him by Odin, he had no real means of escape and was kept there for when Odin could make use of him.
Mimir informed them that the tallest peak in Yggdrasil was not, in fact, on Midgard and, instead, on Jotunheim, but all pathways to the realm had been sealed many years prior. Mimir begged and pleaded with Kratos and Loki, promising to help them get to Jotunheim in exchange for chopping off his head. Contained and tortured by Odin, he claimed it would be a kind service and if they knew someone gifted in Seidr, his head could be reanimated, and his knowledge could still be of use.
They took Mimir’s head to a witch they met earlier in their travels, a woman whose identity would not be revealed to them for some time. Eventually, they learned that the witch’s name was Freya, a Vanir Goddess who married and later left Odin. The very same Goddess who blessed and cursed her son, Baldur, the man relentlessly hunting them on behalf of his father. Gifted with powerful magic but cursed with the inability to do any harm to others, Odin banished her to Midgard for breaking away from him. She developed a soft spot for Kratos and Loki. Her maternal nature bled into the young boy, often wishing to help or even protect him. She willingly helped them reanimate Mimir’s head and later, as Loki once again fell victim to his severe ailment that plagued him throughout his life, she lent her aid again. This time, though, she informed Kratos that his ailment was rooted in the lies that Kratos constantly reinforced on his child, insisting that Loki was mortal rather than allowing him to flourish as the young God he actually was.
The power of a God attempting to flow freely through the body of a small child who believed themselves mortal created a psychological barrier that resulted in sickness any time godlike power bubbled up to the surface.
Forced to save his child and own up to his falsehoods, Kratos told Loki the truth of his existence. Well, he learned half of the truth. The story of his mother would not come until the end of their journey, but they still had many hardships to face before they could venture to Jotunheim. Resources were collected to open a pathway to Jotunheim, multiple realms visited and explored, and one particularly annoying God who kept cropping up everywhere they went, hunting them.
Eventually forced to face down Baldur for a final time, Loki threw himself between Baldur and his father before the Odinson could deliver a finishing blow. Freya looked on in horror as she pleaded with her son, attempting to talk him down from his chosen path, but Baldur struck the boy who fell back against his father, struggling for breath but mostly unharmed. As Baldur stepped back, he found the shaft of a green arrow lodged into the palm of his hand, and he marveled at it because, for the first time in a century, he could actually feel it.
Why? Mistletoe. The arrow had been crafted of mistletoe and presented to Loki as a gift. Kratos used a piece of one of the arrow’s shafts to fix the strap of Loki’s quiver so it would sit properly across his chest after snapping. And mistletoe, as we all know, was the one substance that could actually do harm to Baldur, the one substance that Loki had been foretold to use to kill Baldur and bring about Ragnarök. The substance that could break Freya’s spell and make Baldur vulnerable again.
Despite Freya’s best efforts, Loki and Kratos killed her son before he could kill either of them. The father and son were prepared to leave Baldur alive, believing he’d been beaten without death, and that they needed to be better than the murderous Gods who came before them. As Baldur attacked his own mother, however, they realized they had no choice but to put an end to him.
With Baldur defeated and the immediate threat dealt with, they were finally able to make their trip to Jotunheim to spread Laufey’s ashes. They found the realm bleak, empty, and devoid of life, but they also found a mural depicting the journey they’d been on together after Laufey’s passing. For the first time, they both came to realize that Laufey had been hiding something as well, that she was no mortal blessed with Seidr, but a Frost Giant from a realm far from their tiny home. She predicted her child’s life and what he would accomplish and as he spread her ashes from the top of the tallest mountain, his magic traveled freely with her, dusting across the realm.
Killing Baldur, however, marked the beginning of Ragnarök. No one had been prepared for it, as it had not been prophesized for many more years, but Baldur’s death ensured the beginning of the end was upon them, the very thing that Odin feared the most and desperately wished to keep from happening.
Ragnarök, however, was not an end to everything, but a cycle. Loki would bring about an event that changed everything and those who were lost would be reborn. Intentional or not, the waves were in motion and Odin, though prideful and arrogant, was no fool. Stopping it would not be possible, but enduring and surviving Ragnarök and breaking the cycle so it would never come again? Now that could very well be accomplished if he played the game well enough.
It was this event that brought about the change in Odin’s demeanor, why he went from a bloodthirsty conqueror at war with every realm who refused to aid or support him to a “benevolent God” who wished to unite the realms. Ragnarök gave Odin a fresh start, it allowed him to craft and rebuild and bury his past sins under a road paved in gold. It explained why so many throughout all of Yggdrasil seemingly forgot all that transpired prior to Loki’s appearance on Asgard.
As for Loki, though? He could not risk killing the boy. If Loki died in Ragnarök, Loki would be reborn and Odin would have no way of guaranteeing that he would find the child again to prevent the next cycle of Ragnarök from occurring. No, in order to keep the same from happening again, Odin needed to control Loki rather than destroy him. Thus, the All-father descended upon the boy and his father, ripping Loki from Kratos and retreating back to Asgard where he stole the child’s memories and turned to raise Loki as his own, where he would always be able to keep Loki on a short leash. Where Loki could exist as a tool that Odin could use and siphon power from, but could never be used to harm him or his own again.

Ask the Admins 10.0
@genosha-meiuqer: This is to Admin M -- Out of curiosity, do you drive anything like a War Boy?
M: Yes. That is actually a problem I have irl. I drive far too fast. Haven’t gotten pulled over yet though! (knock on wood)
Anon asked: Describe yourself in one adjective.
Chamomile: Talkative
M: Witty
Syren: Enthusiastic
Jynn: Resilient
Vox: Amiable
Anon asked: Do you have other sister blogs or affiliate blogs about writing? Or maybe you can rec us other writing blogs? Not that auideas is not awesome, loving this blog! Just, you know, want to follow other blog. Thanks! Loving your aus btw!
Chamomile: We have @nsfw-auideas, which has been inactive for a while since I became uncomfortable running it and the other admins sort of dropped of….but for blogs that inspire me, I always love @writing-prompt-s because they give me ideas for prompts with their prompts (if that makes sense, lmao) and also from fanfiction/fanart. I get //so// much inspiration from fanfiction/fanart.
M: Yeah we have our NSFW blog, but that’s pretty much it, and I don’t really have a lot of time at the moment to look at other blogs, so this is definitely one for the other admins to answer.
Syren: I second what Chamomile mentioned, and I also get a lot of inspiration from @inell who is a writing machine in the Sterek fandom. It's insane how many stories she churns out, and they often help me mindlessly brainstorm, if that makes any sense??
Jynn: I get a lot of inspiration from @otpprompts!
Vox: @otpprompts and @writing-prompt-s are two other really great prompt blogs! ( ≧▽≦)
Anon asked: curious about the new assistant admins. mind doing information pages for them like you did for the admins?
Chamomile: Here’s all of our pages: Chamomile // M // Syren // Jynn // Vox
Anon asked: When I'm grown, a martyr I will never be. I won't cry for you. I won't suffer for the things you do. I won't cry for you, see. Even though I understand you, Kankri.
Chamomile: this is a sin
M: get outta here
Syren: *Castiel voice* I don't understand that reference.
Jynn: I had to actually go back and find this song again for Chamomile so I just have to say how dare you make me relive that.
Vox: This ask has 6een marked as triggera6le and will 6e taken d9wn by Kankri Vantas. (ง •̀_•́)ง
Anon asked: So I know that this blog is SFW, but do you mind if I use your prompts in a NSFW story?
Chamomile: That’s totally fine! Whatever you do with our prompts is totally up to you.
M: ^^^^^
Anon asked: Have you decided what theme you'll be using? I remember a while back one of the admins asked what the followers think about the current theme.
Chamomile: Oh yeah, we got this solved a long while back. If anybody has a theme that they think is really nice and that we should try out, then send it to us!
Anon asked: What is your opinion on "Shrek is Love, Shrek is Life"?
Chamomile: get out
M: leeeeeeeave
Syren: I am daily surrounded by meme trash and could probably recite it perfectly if I tried. I am only slightly ashamed.
Jynn: I'll never forget it. That being said, I never want it in my presence ever again.
Vox: You scream, I scream, we all scream for Dank Memes™
Anon asked: I finally talked to my future college roommate. Accidentally ignore her email for a week tho... Not really off to a great start?
Chamomile: I can’t tell if this is a prompt or you telling us about your day but my advice would be to get her a card that’s like “I’m sorry I ignored your email for a week” and then some candy or whatever else she likes.
M: Lol man that did not happen with my current roommate - we actually sent each other our first introductory emails at the exact same moment even though I was across the country. Thankfully, we’ve clicked very well, but I would recommend not getting on their bad side right away, or that’ll make your year not so much fun.
Syren: Dude, I am the worst person at communicating possibly ever. I have lost friends because I forget to reply to them for months, no joke. I've found the best way to make it up is to be as sincere with your apology as possible. I've learned not to make excuses. Don't sweat it!
Jynn: I'm glad you reached out to your roommate, good job! I'd go with Chamomiles card and candy idea.
Vox: -looks at the messages I have in Line that are months old- -l a u g h s- Oh honey.
Anon asked: Do you (admins and assistants) know how to make gifs? Also, how do you pronounce "gifs"? "Jifs" or "gifs".
Chamomile: I have no clue on how to make a gif, and I pronounce it like “gift” without a “t”.
M: Gifs. Hard G. I will fight you on this.
Syren: I have no clue how to make a gif, though I've been thinking about learning (barely any gifs out there for When We Rise). Hard g.
Jynn: There are tons of gif makers online, I also have an app for that. I pronounce it “Gif” with a hard G
Vox: I LOVE making gifs!! They’re super fun. Also I use both alternatively.
Anon asked: how do the admins like the new assistants? And how do the assistants like the admins?
Chamomile: I think they’re pretty great! Everybody has been really good with getting their prompts in the drafts so admin m and I can approve them. No real problems.
M: Two thumbs up from me! I can now feel more stress about my school and social life than about this darn blog...
Syren: They're all generally fabulous people and make me feel welcomed. I'm the youngest of the bunch, but that doesn't change anything. Also, I have a habit for apologizing for everything, and they always assure me that it's all good and that they've all been there.
Jynn: Chamomile, Em, and I have actually all been friends for upwards of a couple years now, and I've contributed to the blog here and there before so it hasn't been super different for me tbh.
Vox: If I could put emojis into replies, this right here would just be a string of sparkles and hearts. Everyone’s been really nice!!
Anon asked: I haven't been on this site since forever and I just got back. Nice to see more prompts that I can add to my growing list of things I want to try writing :) (Also, "Runaway" and "So Sad, So Sad" are some of my favorite songs! :D )
Chamomile: Eeeeee! Thanks for loving the blog! Also I know right, I have some pretty good music taste if I do say so myself ;)
Anon asked: Knowing that someone else uses Japanese emoticons makes me really happy. \\\ (۶ÒワÒ)۶//// Where do you get yours from, Vox? An app, website, or other?
Vox: Yaaaaa, kaomoji are super funnnnn!! ☆⌒(*^-°)v I have a Japanese keyboard on my phone so I automatically have a bunch of them readily available.
Anon asked: Choose five of the blog's followers that you've talked to a fair amount and say what story genre you think they would be a character in, and if they would be a protag or antag.
Chamomile: Instead of choosing just five, I went with all of them. Here’s the link
M: I willllllll do this over break - expect a post on my admin blog!
Anon asked: If life was a standardized test, you would be "Answer B" because I always turn to you when I don't know what to do.
Chamomile:....that’s actually really sweet?
M: Omfg.
Syren: This would be really cute if the thought of standardized tests didn't throw me into a panic over upcoming midterms, SATs, and ACTs
Jynn: Awwwwww!
Vox: I’m in various stages of oh god and that’s so sweet and lol my name is actually Bee so this is kind of great, are you flirting with me anon, winkwink. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Anon asked: What do you call a flirty Greek? A Socratease
Chamomile: The King of flirty Greeks is Mithridatetease (Mithridates)
M: Get out.
Syren: As long as they don't have an Oedipus complex, they can tease all they want
Jynn: More like MithriDATEs
Vox: Has war flashbacks to Greek myth lectures. Sweats nervously.
@all-made-of-stardust asked: So I love your blog, and I especially love all your Never Book quotes. I was wondering - what's your policy on using those quotes? Can I directly use the whole quote? Should I change it a bit? Should I not use it at all? There's several quotes I have been thinking about using, and I just wanted to make sure I was doing it right.
Chamomile: hey there! This is a pretty popular question, but our policy is that you can change it however you want (adding in words, changing pronouns, etc.) but don’t repost it anywhere without crediting us. Cutting our parts is also totally fine. If you write something inspired by TNB, or has a TNB quote in it, make sure to shoot us a message and we’ll make sure to add it to the follower’s works page!
@ihaveatheoryabouttimetravel asked: What exactly is the never book?
Chamomile: Hey! I’m the creator of The Never Book (TNB) and here’s the long version of how/why I created it (link), but the short version is that TNB is supposed to be a collection of writing prompts to help inspire you to write. Some of them are very dramatic, while other ones are humorous, and other ones are meant to be cliffhangers that make you want to write what happens next. The name “The Never Book” is supposed to imply that all of these quotes come from a story that has never been written, meaning that they’re free game for prompts as well as to make stories out of.
Note: I’ve entertained the idea of trying to write a piece of fiction with a ton of TNB quotes crammed into it. Might try to get around to that if anybody is interested.
Anon asked: Is it okay to Writer's Block shame a friend who has an almost complete first chapter for 57 different fanfiction pieces???
Chamomile: #me
M: Shame us all
Syren: I'm too fragile to be bombarded like this
Jynn: I'm being called out.
Vox: First of all how dare, it’s only 56. (ง •̀_•́)ง
anon asked: tbh between chamomile and m i really thought that chamomile was younger. i have been surprised but not unpleasantly so
Chamomile: I’m definitely shorter and rounder than admin m, but I’m older by like, a year and a half? Something like that?
M: I am the alpha.
anon asked: assistant admins, what’s your favorite ice cream flavor?
Syren: Blue Moon (it's an upper Midwest thing I guess)
Jynn: Chocolate
Vox: Mint chocolate chip

11 13 16 19 20 31 33 36 39 41 42(because i love greek) 44 48. it would be great if ye can answer them all
Fair warning, some of these (a lot, probably) will be characters from my novel which I have never mentioned on this blog before (because I never adapted them to the wizzy au)
Anyway thank you so much for asking I’m honestly happy to answer so many of these.
11. Is there any OC of yours you could describe as a “sunshine”?
I’m not totally sure he counts, but Vale might be the closest. He’s a total optimist, especially regarding people, so some would call him a “sunshine”, but I don’t think I’d necessarily call him that. He tends to, let’s say lose his luster, when things take a turn for the worse or he feels isolated.
13. Do you have any troublemaker OCs?
Damon and Gannon both love to piss people off. Damon is more just contrary and Gannon does it more in a form of personal protest but neither of them are prone to causing trouble for authorities on purpose. Damon is more like that, as he does purposefully break rules, but mostly only when he knows he can get away with it, and he doesn’t try to significantly inconvenience anyone. They do it for personal reasons, not to inconvenience anyone or for humor - though Damon does enjoy the occasional prank. (Gannon hates pranks with a passion)
16. Which one of your OCs would be the best at biology (school subject)?
Lysia, probably. She’s a psychic healer and knows the human body pretty intimately. She’d be an excellent student, too, but if I were to pick one who doesn’t have the inherent advantage of their powers depending on a firm grasp of biology, I’d say maybe Sasha. Sasha Bishop is a highly intelligent, very well-read kind of person and is generally pretty strong in hard sciences overall. A close second would be Everett, but he’s more of a botanist.
19. Introduce an OC that means a lot to you (and explain why).
Hmm, I’ll go with Mathias Durain. He’s an OC from one of my first ever attempts at writing something and basically personifies my “use one OC in twenty different aus” kind of habit. It’s almost a joke for me to just include him even as just a cameo in every universe I write in, but he’s important to me because it’s that kind of writing that makes my characters as interesting as (I think) they are. I can see how they would react to different situations, different worlds. What changes, what stays the same, who are they, really? And that’s something I go through anytime I make a character, even if I don’t write them into every different universe I work with. He helped refine my process of making OCs.
20. Do any of your OCs sing? If they sing, care to share more details (headcannon voice, what kind of songs they like, etc)?
Vale sings. If he were in a modern universe, he’d tend to like kind of soft rock. Gentle ballads, and upbeat pop. He’d also be the one to listen to seemingly random songs in languages he doesn’t even know. Some random Japanese death metal, a German rap, and no one can explain how those got onto his playlists.
Mathias sings as well, and he’s more of a traditional rocker. Listen to Evans Blue for (close to) how I imagine him.
Among others, but I have to stop somewhere (I have a lot of OCs)
31. Pick one OC of yours and explain what their tumblr blog would be like (what they reblog, layout, anything really).
Arno Buenaventura (yes that started as a roleplay blog for an ML OC, but it is still exactly how his blog would be, just with less of, you know, him)
But okay, Vale’s would be similar. Cute things, cool things, some social justice stuff, but mostly cute things. All the baby animal posts (he loves bears, especially) and informative facts.
33. Your shyest OC?
Got to be Everett. He’s a cutie, but doesn’t speak up much except with Mitchell.
36. Do you have OC pairs where the other part belongs to someone else (siblings, lovers, friends, etc.)?
I’ll be honest, I’m not sure I understand this question. But, um, in my main story, the Stone family is all sorts of messed up. Gannon was kidnapped, and lost his memory, so his older sister Farris is kind of separated from him, and their younger brother Hunter goes looking for him so he’s also separated from the others. Hunter actually finds Will, and they’re a “pair” I think of so there’s that between Farris and Hunter sibling-wise and Hunter and Will friend-wise.
I guess. I don’t even know exactly what I’m answering tbh.
39. Introduce any character you want.
Hmm, Chloe Pending is a priestess/mailperson. In the universe set up, where her story takes place (as with all of the OCs mentioned here, including Vale and Damon, excluding Arno), the post office is actually a role played by the temple. It’s funded mutually by all sorts of countries, but at least in Chloe’s home city of Kalen, the post office is an extension of the temple of the god of roads and crossroads, and all the postal workers are therefore priests and priestesses to that particular god. As such, there’s a weird relationship between the post workers and the temple, but Chloe at least respects her position as a priestess. She’s more agnostic than anything else, but she still observes the customs and everything when necessary. Anyway, she’s lived in her city her entire life, knows the roads and back alleys like the back of her hand, and was previously a small-time thief, taking from market stalls and the like to find food as she lived mostly on the streets for a time. At the beginning of her story, she’s established as a postal worker, and her district is mostly the senator’s homes, so she has a working relationship with at least some of the Kaleni senators (keep in mind though, that relationship is not always positive)
41. Has anyone drawn fanart of your OCs?
I hope not just because I don’t remember or have it if they have! I mean obviously I hope someone has but I hope I haven’t missed anything because I have not seen it.
42. Which one of your OCs would be the most interested in Greek gods?
Either Connor (Sasha’s older brother), because he’d be fascinated by how the culture was influenced by the myths (on that level, Sasha as well), or Chloe Pending, who is literally a priestess. Not of the greek gods, of one of the gods in her universe’s pantheon, but she’d be interested in another culture’s gods.
44. Something you like about your OCs in general.
I like how much autonomy they have. As weird as it may sound, I sometimes surprise myself with how they handle certain things. They are as real as I can make them, and I love that about them.
48. OC who is a perfect cinnamon roll, too good for this world, too pure.
I mean Vale, obviously. But seriously, I’m careful about making OCs “perfect” so like the “sunshine” question this is a “well, he’s sort of the closest”. Vale can be and is totally willing to be manipulative and he’s very good at interpreting other people so he’s very good at getting what he wants, if he chooses to do that. He tends not to, just because of his own principles, but if the situation calls for it he won’t hesitate.

I’ve been on the fence about posting this for a while but I’ve been wanting to share some of my writing for some time so here it is, this was my solo theatre piece I wrote and performed for my final IB theatre assessment. I had to choose a theatre theorist to base it on and I chose Jerzy Grotowski, hence why I talk about him so much in it
writing is difficult
 writing is about accuracy
starting over with accuracy
starting... over with accuracy
 writing is… difficult for me.
the words don’t come-
*stop, take a breath. start over.*
 writing is difficult for me.
the words don’t come out the way I want them to
i’m a perfectionist
i struggle often to find the right word to say
I get so caught up in trying to figure out how to say a sentence exactly the way I want it
I’ll get hung up for hours or days or weeks, just because of one stupid word
because writing is about accuracy.
anne carson says it better: “we’re talking about the struggle to drag a thought over from the mush of the unconscious into some kind of grammar, syntax, human sense; every attempt means starting over with language. starting over with accuracy. i mean, every thought starts over, so every expression of a thought has to do the same. every accuracy has to be invented. . . . i feel i am blundering in concepts too fine for me.”
i feel I am blundering in concepts too fine for me…
i feel like that often.
all the time, really.
i’m not a very confident person
some people are surprised by that
i started to take an interest in photography
you don’t need words to take pictures.
there’s no such thing as a perfect photo
and even though i’m a perfectionist,
there’s something about knowing that that’s liberating to me.
there’s no right or wrong way to do it,
no rules
so you just take the pictures you like
the ones you think are pretty.
i use my camera in burst mode
my camera is able to take 4.5 pictures per second
that’s 9 every 2 seconds
270 a minute
16,200 an hour
fast enough to document every single second of a human life almost five times over
the average human lifespan is 71 years
if i held a camera on someone from birth to death,
that would be 10,075,752,000 photos.
i used a calculator for all those, i don’t just have them memorized
sometimes people tell me i take too many photos
maybe they’re right
i mean the last time i went out to take photos for a show
i ended up with 1,792 after only an hour and a half
but i’m afraid if i don’t photograph everything
  i’m going to forget.
when i get older, i want to keep picture albums full of all my photos
just like my mom did
so i can look back on them and remember everything
i hate losing photos of things
after my ex-boyfriend broke up with me
i went and deleted all the photos i had of us together.
  is it strange that
even though i hate him now
it still makes me sad that i have no pictures of us together anymore?
even though i don’t miss him, i wish i hadn’t deleted the photos
it feels like for all that relationship hurt me and changed me,
i have nothing to show for it
no proof at all
even the bad memories i want to keep
to remind myself they made me into who i am today.
this isn’t me playing a character
this is really me saying all this
   hi
when i got older i started to discover acting
it became an escape for me
it was nice to
get to pretend to be a different person for a while
and words are easier to say
when they come from someone else
 but grotowski
wants me to just be myself
he wants me to get rid of my bag of tricks
and just be vulnerable
and be sincere
and that scares me
because if i just be myself onstage
then everyone will see the me that i’ve been trying for years to hide
the facade i’ve built will be shattered
the curtain flung wide open
how am i supposed to be me
when i’ve spent the better part of my life trying to be someone i’m not?
i’m terrified of exposing myself like that
laying the real me bare
but i think that’s also why i chose grotowski
because i want to stop pretending.
it’s time for me to start being honest
 to myself
  and everyone else.
 hi.
i’m eighteen years old.
i’m a senior in high school.
my favorite color is purple
i have severe depression
i didn’t get accepted to college
i overshare all the time
i have an extreme inferiority complex to my brother
my favorite food is strawberries!
   ...i’m sorry
this is depressing
but that’s who i am
i’m a pretty depressing person
 woo!
  writing is difficult
i learned to love writing as a child
but as i got older i started to forget
grotowski believes the same is true of our bodies
we lose our childlike lack of inhibitions
we start to disconnect
think too much
we stop ourselves from moving before we do
grotowski asks us to reconnect
relink our internal impulses with our external impulses
and find feeling through them
go back to when we were children again
and a stick could be a sword
or a horse
or an ocean liner
we still knew it was a stick
we just transformed our interpretation of what we were seeing
This is where stopped being sure of what to say.
I mean
I wrote some other stuff but I'm not sure if I like it or not yet.
My friend told me to keep this in.
 it’s- it’s funny
when i was younger i was always so sure of who i was
when i was in kindergarten i was sure i would be a teacher
when i was in first grade i was positive i would be an astronaut.
in second grade i decided i would be a writer
in third grade i was certain i wanted to be a veterinarian.
in fourth grade i was set on becoming a computer scientist
and in fifth grade i was convinced i wanted to be a photographer.
now i’m about to graduate and start my career
and i have no idea what i really want to do
even though it changed so often i never doubted myself
i always knew that that was what i would be
i knew who i was at that moment
where did i lose the plot along the way?
when did we learn to doubt ourselves?
 i don’t know
i’m not going to pretend that i do know
i’m not writing this hoping to get any answers
i read this book by anne carson recently
(sorry to bring her up again)
(i’ve just been thinking about her a lot lately)
it’s called autobiography of red
it’s about a gay photographer growing up
and dealing with the aftermath or a horrible breakup
and coming to terms with himself
 sound familiar?
my mom and i both read the book around the same time
i didn’t like the ending--
it felt like it just stopped mid-poem
i turned the page expecting there to be more--
wanting there to be more--
but there wasn’t
my mom said she loved the end though
it was her favorite part
she saw it as a metaphor for persistence and creativity
i think maybe the reason why i didn’t like the ending
was because i saw myself in the main character
i was hoping to find an ending to my own story
an uplifting ending where the protagonist learns to love himself, finds love, becomes successful, lives happily ever after
but real life doesn’t work that way
i’m not going to find all the answers i’m looking for in a
book of poetry based on ancient greek myths
the reason it felt to me like the book ended so suddenly
that there should be more
was because his story
his life
isn’t over yet
 and neither is mine.
 i’m still just getting started
i’m only in the exposition phase
i’ve heard the whole story is a pretty great read
and so i should stop trying to skip to the end.
 Writing is…
