Feeling conflicted about the cyberpunk thingy impulse is going for because like yeah it’s a great theme and I like the aesthetics a lot but what I really like most about cyberpunk is the themes of corporate alienation and/or transhumanism etc etc which I know will not be addressed at all and in fact it’s kind of stupid of me to expect that at all from a minecraft series. Does anyone else get that or just me

Could I ask for your thoughts on why you say that Cassius should have been Crassus' political heir ?
so largely I’m half referencing this collection of quotes and the various attempts to fill in the space/grave with a body (like Cicero! Cicero was a contender for this!) and I’m sort of taking shots at Antony for fun and whimsy.
like in sports!! I gotta root for my man Cassius over Antony, especially because no one can actually fill the space left by Crassus after his death (literally, the political landscape makes this impossible), but Cassius assumes a command position due to everyone else (notably, Crassus) dying (so: inheriting Crassus’ leadership position) and wouldn’t be a bad follow up to Crassus in the realm of military command since they have a similar (strict, as opposed to friendly in a way is commonly associated with Antony) relationship with the men under their command.
& also bc Marcus Crassus jr seems to be disinterested in taking up space in the political spotlight on his return from the Gallic Wars otherwise I’d be advocating for him on the basis of family tragedy compounded. it’s time to fill the space/memory/grave of your father and brother, buddy!

sometimes i don’t like family hcs cause i think the relationship between the two characters is a little more fucked up that and i don’t think you’re giving it enough credit
“look they’re just like father and son!” and then i look and it’s two immortals with a messed up master servant dynamic where they would do anything for each other and slowly trying to overcome a relationship dynamic that is 1000s of years in the making

OG Choi Han they could never make me hate you cause if some random rich boy was yelling at me and telling me my family deserved to die like a day after it happened and all I wanted was to know how I could get help I’d beat him up too
This plus the added fact that the Harris Village people were the first people to take Choi Han in and take care of him after years and years in the dark forest. Like he’s obviously not going to be mentally stable after all that, and he was so young when everything happened to him like I cannot blame him at all. I don’t think I can ever hate OG Choi Han like ever, he’s flawed, he has problems, but I love him dearly. He deserves the world. This kid who had to fight for his life, was taken away from his family, and in the process had to give up parts of his own humanity to survive, and like went to war two years later, they could never make me hate u OG Choi Han…
Like yeah violence is bad I guess but OG Cale had it coming(saying this as an OG Cale fan, I love him, but he was mean as hell when he was younger!)
If I’m honest, I think they were both in the wrong to an extent. Like OG Cale shouldn’t have said all that no matter the circumstances, and OG Choi Han shouldn’t have beaten him up so much. But u say mean shit and you get hit, that is how it will work when you’re talking to the guy who just saw his entire village get murdered like idkkkk man
I understand where OG Cale was coming from, but he had many issues and while he wasn’t an awful person, he was capable of doing bad things because of his own internalized pain and emotions that he never got to properly process because of his emotionally distant childhood and relationship with his father who should have been there for him more when he was younger.
Okay speaking of his childhood, Deruth isn’t the WORST father in the world but there are a lot of things he could have done better. I think a lot of Deruth’s flaws come from his fear of failure and messing up. He’s scared of doing the wrong thing, and so he sticks to doing what he knows and using what he knows best. That’s why he uses his money, that’s why gift giving is his way of showing affection, he knows that it is one thing he cannot mess up.
The problem is that money and gifts is NOT what OG Cale needed. I think what that guy needed the most was a parent who wasn’t afraid to talk to him, to ask him questions. Not to say that Deruth gave up on OG Cale, but I think in a way he gave up on OG Cale by giving up on himself. Deruth didn’t trust himself to have the capabilities to talk to OG Cale, which is why he never did. It’s because that Deruth was scared, and didn’t trust himself, that he could never face OG Cale
If Deruth was able to trust himself a little more, and pull himself together, I don’t think OG Cale would have turned out the way he did. As a kid, he probably thought the only way he could help his family without relying on anyone(no doubt this whole ‘I have to do it myself’ thing came from the fact that he couldn’t rely on his father when his mom died, and instead was acting as a pillar of support for his father when it should have been the other way around) was to sabotage himself, the only heir. If he was shown to be unfit to be heir, then everyone else would have no choice but to direct their hatred towards him instead of his family.
If Deruth had talked to his son at least ONCE when he was a kid, asking him why he was upset or why he did the things he did, I think OG Cale would have told him. Why? Because he’s a kid!! A kid will obviously want to rely on his father, if he just had one sign telling him that he didn’t have to do it alone I’m 90% sure OG Cale would have said something.
Basically, while Deruth isn’t the worst father, he’s not really a great father either. I think he does do his best, but he has issues with communication lol
OG Cale and OG Choi Han are both complex characters and had their own reasons to behave the way they did. The thing is with people is that they’re complicated and have layers, so the situation with them would have layers behind it as well with multiple co-existing truths and stuff

The way I wanna see Luis go completely apeshit and just start doing things that he wouldn’t do in canon. In canon we know he feels immense guilt for his past and wants to make up for it all. We see him trying to do good over and over again. He wants to redeem himself and prove he’s changed.
But a part of me so badly wants him to kinda just,, lose the plot for a hot minute. The whole “be the monster they always said you were” kinda ordeal. He gets left for dead after the Krauser attack and nobody came back for him so he’s kinda bitter about it. I know it would be out of character because of what we’ve seen him go through and do, but… I do kinda wanna see it happen anyway.

There’s a whole sherlock resurgence on my dash since you started blogging about it. How does it feel to be responsible for so much violence?
I promise you from the bottom of my heart I thought we were at a place culturally where we could just be like…engaging with it in a heartfelt but like “hahah crazy that this happened to us” kind of way but I have since remembered that this is the single most nuclear explosive piece of media ever made and defies casual engagement. I’ll soon go back to not mentioning it for 6 years I promise

my controversial take of the day is that i don’t really think cringe culture is real. sometimes you guys talk about cringe culture as if having an opinion on a certain piece of media is something that is unchanging and a part of your inherent makeup as a human being and as if everyone in the whole world is hating the same things for the same reasons with absolutely no nuance in opinion.
i see stuff like this all the time and there’s just something that really doesn’t sit right with me and it’s the idea that people can’t like or dislike something without taking it personally. At the same time the way people interact with things like this has to be discussed openly because a lot of time the behavior is harmful to others and themselves.
there’s not a problem with liking or disliking anything. there is a problem with dogpiling on someone for their opinion on something with no real discussion points but that’s something i only see children and extremely childish adults doing. and most of the time it’s because they don’t have the critical thinking skills to form their own opinions.
people are gonna be incredibly divided on all things all the time, especially media preferences. people want to express their opinions and they want to feel like they have a voice even if they can’t come up with an original point. a great skill to learn is how to filter out insincere comments from the ones that actually want engaging discussion. most of the shit you’re gonna be filtering out is people saying things specifically to get on your nerves, whether they like a certain thing or dislike it.
there’s also this idea that no one can say anything bad about how a person interacts with media because it’s as bad as making fun of them for neurodivergency. i really think we need to separate the way we talk about media from our discussions about mental disability and mental health because it’s only reinforcing the idea that media consumption is an inherent part of someone’s personality and isn’t something that warrants discussion or critical thinking.
learn not to take comments seriously and learn to separate your identity from a brand outside of yourself. (yes, all shows, movies, music, etc. are brands at the end of the day. that’s how they’re treated. you’re being sold an idea.) just because you like taylor swift or hazbin hotel or bluey or whatever doesn’t mean that other people don’t have good criticisms of those things. and it certainly doesn’t mean you cannot like a certain thing, it just means you need to think critically about your interests, the way you engage with them, and what you’re willing to support.
tldr: cringe culture has no meaning at this point and just feels like people bullying each other for media preferences instead of engaging critically with the media they like and dislike and people need to learn the difference between real critique and people being douchebags to each other

encountered a casey mcquiston novel instagram post and there are people saying they disliked one last stop and loved red white and royal blue. and at first i was surprised and kind of upset because i have eyes and while i do love both, ols is much better written than rwrb and imo better by far.
and i think the thing is that rwrb was written for a general audience and not for queer people specifically. casey mcquiston has said in interviews that they use big tropes to prevent their novels from falling out of mainstream and i think rwrb makes this really obvious. it’s feisty and spicy and political and very, very fanfic-y. the public loves the emails and enemies to lovers and forced proximity. cmq obviously knew this and used this to their advantage.
one last stop on the other hand is fundamentally for queer comfort. personally i found that the concept of queer community is much more prevalent than the actual romance, and august and jane were both extremely compelling as queer women trying to discover themselves. i (and tumblr ols fans, from what i’ve seen) got really into the queer found family, the overwhelming support from everyone, the ultimate queer joy that is present in the book. august and janes romance is a secondary thing and even so if feels so representative of struggles in sapphic dating. a lot of us have experienced the “queer girl friendship” which feels a little more romantic than you previously thought.
so straight people read rwrb and love it because it contains themes they’re used to and already love, with the side dish of being queer, which is fine. read what you like. (also a lot of them massively fetishize mlm which is a big issue too). but ols is queer community and sapphic struggles and self discovery which is not the kind of queer romance the straights sign up for. so they say shit like how august and jane are uninteresting (false) or their romance felt forced (false) or the smut was unnecessary (people never complain about that on straight books where unnecessary smut is plentiful and boundless).
babes. straights. you are not the target audience. so respectfully, read all you want, i don’t care, but shut it. don’t be surprised when the queer comfort book for queer people doesn’t align with your straight expectations.

~Here guys! Have another old creation I never posted (✿◕‿◕)ノ 💟✨~
💍💟💎💜✨
I created this moodboard a long time ago based on an old headcanon that came to my mind, but I never posted. I still don’t know why haha. 😅 I gave it a purple theme because I simply love purple.
Headcanon: María’s mate had intended to marry her before his demise.
María discovered an unfamiliar ring interwoven within the underside of the serape that belonged to the love of her life. Placed onto her with a certain gentle admiration that only one who loved her deeply could have done. She’d spent the whole day wondering when she’d give it back to him. It was his after all… she’d woven it herself specifically for him to wear.
She no longer had to wonder.
She wouldn’t give it back to him now even if he physically came back to life and asked for it.
~☔️🌌
She questioned how she hadn’t paid attention to the weird sensation she felt rubbing against her skin while underneath the fabric the entire time, not until it was the only thing left to notice…
Not until it was practically the only thing she had left of him.
She was never bright when it came to romance, so it took her longer than one should to figure out what it meant, why it had been on his person,
and why she had no idea about it’s existence
Not up until that point anyway….
~🎆💟
It’s almost like he knew, almost like life is funny that way. At least, that’s what she tells herself because she couldn’t dare think about what could’ve been, what WOULD’VE been had they not…
She couldn’t spend a second to think about how she would have responded. Would she sob? Would she flick his forehead and say “¡Levántate, tonto!”, would she jump on him and kiss him like some fairytale? She didn’t know.
She would never know now…
There’s a reason she wears white every time she visits his gravestone specifically.
~🕊️💍

see I am very disjointed from a lot of nine/ten fandom discourse because I genuinely believe that in a different world where space boy was not to be seen, had an older Rose gone to the hospital and bumped into a certain Doctor Jones by a vending machine or as she was taking Rose’s vitals, she would have instantly hit it off with Martha. and probably flirted with her a little on accident and then on purpose when Martha flirted back
