I don’t play genshin anymore but I’ve just realised what the hell were the non-Fontaine born Fontainians thinking when the prophecy was about to happen?

This is mostly spurred on by me remembering Kaveh’s mother is somewhere in Fontaine and due to what we know about how the prophecy works, what would’ve happened if Neuvillette didn’t absolve the Fontaine born Fontainians of their sin???? Would the water have gone back down and a bunch of migrants from across teyvat been left to rebuild what was left of Fontaine????

Or would they have drowned?????? The prophecy did state that the hydro archon would be alone, weeping on her throne, and while obviously Fontainians would dissolve, non-Fontaine born residents would have to die the natural way…

a/n: I once again got surprised by finding out that today’s a character's birthday, and while this one won’t be birthday-y (Shinobu was an exception, because I had no idea the next characters birthday would be literally on the next day), I nevertheless decided to write a Yanfei request, especially since her birthday art is just about the cutest thing I have ever seen.

Anyway, hope you enjoy!

Yanfei

Yanfei loved to ramble to you about the law whenever she had the free time to, getting excited over even smaller laws that you quite honestly didn’t even know existed. And while it was nice to have someone make sure that you knew which laws existed, making it less likely that you broke one by accident, and the enthusiasm with which she went on and on about them was enough to make your heart melt, there were times you’d honestly wish that she didn’t love talking about her job as much as she did.

Normally you’d finish your work while in your office, making it so that you had nothing to worry about while at home, but today had been different, the unusually big workload forcing you to take a few documents back home. And while they didn’t need to be filled out anytime soon, you planned on finishing them as soon as possible. Unfortunately for you however, you foolishly revealed that same information to Yanfei, causing your paperwork to take second priority to her law-lesson, these lessons being nothing but a thinly veiled excuse for her to ramble to you about law.

At first you tried your best to multitask, paying just enough attention to Yanfei to ask a question every now and again, buying yourself enough time to fill out one, sometimes even two, documents, before she excited rambling-mode for a while, causing you to pay attention to her again. But as time passed, you got more and more focused on your paperwork, causing Yanfei to catch on to your strategy.

“I’m sorry Yanfei, but I’m almost finished. Give me… ten minutes, not more and then my attention will be all yours”, you explained after getting exposed for not listening to her at all and while you were completely prepared for her to argue against your request, you were surprised when she accepted your proposal before planting herself into the seat next to you, leaving you to finish your work.

…Or that would be the case, didn’t she start poking you immediately afterwards, causing you to turn towards her with a confused expression. “Didn’t you just promise that you’d let me finish my work?”, you asked, only for Yanfei to grin at you in a smugly manner.

“Yes, I did, and I don’t plan on stopping you from finish your work, but I'm not going to stop poking you until you give me some attention”, she responded, causing you to let out a frustrated sigh.

“Poking me until I stop filling out the papers and pay you attention honestly sounds like an underhanded way of stopping me from finishing my work”, you argued, only to immediately regret doing so once you saw her eyes light up.

“Oh! If you desire to argue about what exactly my promise entailed, then I’ll gladly indulge you. Bring it on!”, she declared, jumping up from the seat and striking a confident pose, only for you to close your eyes for a second before letting out another, this time defeated, sigh.

“There won’t be a need for that. I’m listening.”
