ive been rewatching fairy tail recently and it’s been doing a lot for me tbh.....like damn y’all are really friends huh......y’all really care about each other and go out of your way to support your friends about even the littlest things huh............y’all really gain strength from the thought of being happy together huh...........that shit’s so cool. good for y’all
#peach stuff#fairy tail#like??? even straight from the beginning when natsu continually invites lucy on jobs even though she doesn’t have a lot of experience and#she even points that out to him and he’s like ‘??? but i want you to come!! because we’re friends!! look me and happy even found a job that#would be perfect for you specifically!!!’ and how he erza and gray adopt lucy into their group with absolutely no hesitation or qualms#and the fact that natsu and gray have that rivalry going but it’s because they actually see each other as equals and appreciate each#other’s strengths.......and the way that erza is so strong but she always without fail will use that strength to care about other people#also i can’t think about happy for too long or else i’ll cry tbh!!! like!!! that’s natsu’s son wtf!!!!#and the way that even the most ‘manly’ or ‘cold’ characters like gray will be explicitly shown protecting happy and charle#like. i am not immune to strong men gently cradling cats and frankly? im correct#and also that just!!! more often than not fairy tail fights a villain and adopts them into the guild#or nudges them toward other guilds because the people they fight have just. like never had real friends before?#and fairy tail KNOWS that and is like hey we can show you what real friendship is like. come here (affectionate threat)#like wtf!!!!! that shit’s so powerful!!!!!!#tbh whenever i stopped keeping up with fairy tail a few years ago i began to think that it was cringe but you know what!!! it’s not!!!!#im really glad i consumed this media in middle school and it became a core part of my personality actually!!!!!#and im really glad that im rediscovering it now!!!!!

Alvarez Gratsu
@walkinginfiction I am so sorry that I took your bait and now am presenting this thing that got out of hand...I am very rusty with my words but I still want to get all of this out.
***
Alvarez is gratsu's love story because it brings together both of them in the peak cinematic sense of killing the person whom you love.  It's the poetic parallel as the "don't you die on me" makes a full cycle; first said in one of the beginning arcs where we see these characters as mere rivals who hate each other's guts. We see that despite it all, they care. And then said in the last arc where after seeing the totality of their bond, we sink our teeth deeper into their relationship. Even if we let the romantic aspect aside, it's the perfect sum of their past. Their rivalry shapes them into someone stronger, making them get up and become better. They are friends who don't want to lose each other.
It's how we see that Gray is a weapon meant to kill Natsu. It's the crushing reality that Natsu is END and nothing can change that fact that he is a demon of Zeref. The same kind that Deliora was who destroyed his and life and took everything away from him again and again. The same kind who revived his father who he had to fight against. It's how we see him give in to his emotions and lose himself in them as he makes his way to his destined rival.  The person whom he loves with all his heart (putting back the gratsu lens). We never get into the emotional aspect of their fight but I like to believe that he fights against his magic while he fights with Natsu. His devil slayer magic is meant to kill END but does he want to?
And Natsu. Natsu who ran away after Tartaros war because everything he has chased after is gone. Igneel is dead and he doesn't know what to do with himself, where to go from here? He comes back with a new resolve to fight against Acnologia and Zeref. Zeref who tells him that he is his brother and that he is a demon. He is the same END whom Igneel couldn't kill; who Gray wants to kill. It's the dilemma which we never actually got into deeply but still exists: who is he? what is he? A dragon, a demon or a human? And in that dilemma, he falters and loses himself to turn into END. He is made to kill Zeref. The instinct is embedded to him as a part of his being.
But to be END means to lose himself; to give away the human in him, the one who is his entire existence. Because the unwavering truth is that he is more than a book. He is larger than life and his existence is something more than a demon or a dragon. He is Natsu. And that is exactly what Gray realises after their fight when he goes to find Zeref.
That's where my beloved Lost Iced Shell comes that I adore with my clammy hands and never let go of. The ultimate gratsu moment that brings all the threads together. I like to think that the decision to use Lost Iced Shell is a pipeline of losing his father -> infiltrating Alvarez and seeing and experiencing the horrific of being a dark guild -> Juvia dying for him -> finding out Natsu is END -> trying to kill Natsu. It's the build of moments that fell down like a house of cards, his fight with Natsu being the last straw that did it for him. Because how broken and desperate he has to be in order to even learn this spell in the first place in Avatar? He has kept everything at bay by pinning all the revenge and blame on END and now that he finds out that he is no one but Natsu, how is he supposed to handle that? What if Erza wouldn't have come to stop them? What if something actually happened to Natsu because of him? Now that the dams are destroyed and everything is flooding out, he has resigned himself to his fate. He does not want to hurt anyone anymore. He does not want Natsu to die and this is the only way. And if in the process he has to die, he has to be erased, then that's okay. If it means that the person whom he loves lives, along with all the other people, then that's okay.
But it is not, you know? Natsu doesn't want that. He wants Gray to live. He wants Gray to see things through because he promised that he won't use the spell again and now he has broken that promise and added something even worse to it. Extrapolating to a scenario where Gray would have been successful, it is so sad to see how his entire existence would have wiped out. The privilege to mourn, the chance to even hold onto his memories after nothing his left of him would have been taken away. It's heart breaking.
That's what Natsu is when Gray breaks his promise and then tells him that he doesn't deserve to even be in the guild. There is so much to unpack in this scene because their is so much they are holding in themselves, it breaks out. And when Gray expresses his worry about losing Natsu if Zeref would die, the dragon slayer gets so angry because he is tired of his destiny written for him and he won't let himself or the person and the people he loves die like this. He is so much more than the mere connection he has with Zeref.
This is what Gray sees when Lucy is rewriting the book of END. The spells and pages flurrying in the air, the magic buzzing underneath them. That's not Natsu's existence. That's just a part of him. He will always be more than that.
All of this and I have barely touched the romantic potential and the possibility there is to all of it which makes everything 100x hit harder. Alvarez Arc is a conclusion to gratsu and also a beginning to where do they go from here. They have lost so much but there are new horizons to explore and understanding themselves and each other better.
***
(I am sorry for the long rant in all of its unbetaed glory but this is just tip of the ice berg because I have a whole fic planned on exactly this that is stewing in my drafts for so long that I needed to let all of it out. Thank you to anyone who has read so far.

Natsu Dragneel
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Natsu is the other half of the tickle duo (rivalry) with Gray. Unlike Gray he is quite the tickler instead of the ticklee, though that doesn’t make him any less ticklish. In fact, Natsu is the more ticklish of the two and shows it in most of his squabbles with the guild. Though Gray is the one who tickles him the most, Erza, Lucy, and Mirajane also get their piece of the tickle pie. In-fact tickling is a huge kink for Natsu, and certain spots really get him going.
For Natsu His by far most ticklish spot is his bellybutton, followed by his feet and then his ribs.
Bellybutton:
Unlike his father Igneel he doesn’t have all those scales to protect his tender belly (unless you count dragon force). It’s a very shocking spot and one that every guild member goes for to get an easy win. Initially he went silent when tickled here as it was so bad it broke him (theories about his enhanced body due to dragon slayer magic being the main cause). In time it is slightly more manageable and never fails to break him in a fight, it is very lucky on his part that unlike Gray his weak spot hasn’t been exposed during a job.
Rated 15/10
Feet:
The most ticklish lower body spot and one that Lucy and Erza go for the most. Apparently, this is in revenge for Ler!Natsu going after their own feet over the years. Happy is also a fan of this spot because his tongue, wings, and small paws are a perfect fit for the broad arches and bubbly toes. Tickling his toes results in a high pitch squeal and desperate wriggling and squirming. Unless he’s tied down, he’ll rocket up and flee, use magic chains!!
Rated 9.5/10
Ribs:
The ribs are a classic spot for Natsu, tickling him here makes him bark and cackle madly. Interestingly enough, the ribs are the first spot Natsu tickles on someone he doesn’t know well or hasn’t tickled yet. Oil is very effective here and actually makes him cry if abused. Natsu admitted to being ticklish here in a game of truth or dare.
Rated 6.5/10

FAIRY TAIL NEXT GEN CHILDREN-NALU EDITION
DISCLAIMER:
1-I know there is now a cannon child for edo Nalu and edo Gruvia with names and everything. I also know that Gajeel and Levy have twins and Levy is currently pregnant in 100 Years Quest.  I love it and their names and everything about those precious babies-but I’ve had these ideas and characters and backstories growing and developing in my head for years so I’m being the stubborn Taurus that I am and sticking with it.
-Also please forgive any misspellings and grammar mistakes as I am dyslexic and my school failed us at teaching spelling and grammar. I did my best.
Hello my lovelies! I am back with the Fairy Tail post and starting with a bang!
I’m working on my next gen story and am determined to make it work this time... so I’m making very detailed profiles for my OC’s that are going to show up and it was so much fun I thought I’d share them with you!
Because of how unwieldly the document was getting I’m going to break it up by pairing staring with Nalu!!!
Tumblr media
God I love them...
RANDOM FACTS:
-After the less than stable childhoods the members of the guild had, when they started to have children, they decided to give them as normal a life as possible.
That means the following:
-Many of those who have kids choose to stop taking the longer and dangerous jobs-or at least don’t do nearly as many of them. This is so they can be there for their children and not reduce the risk of not coming home. That doesn’t mean there still aren’t adventures and that these dangerous missions don’t happen, but many of them are weary of the risk. Except for Natsu and Erza… they are always the exception.
-Naturally, the kids are members of the guild from the moment of their conception. However since they live much more stable lives and don’t need to work and take on jobs as children they don’t become official guilds until 13.
-Most of them start taking on summer jobs or small jobs during the school year with their parents starting then and as they get older-like with in a year or two-they start going on solo jobs.
-And yes I said school year because they make their children go to school like normal kids and get the education that most of them never got. (Please note if I mention anything in particular about school or schooling system it is going to be heavily based on the American school system as I went through that system and somehow came out the other side, so that’s what I’m familiar with)
-All of the children suffer from the same illness the Ultear did as child to varying degrees of severity because of how strong their parents. I say varying degrees of severity because some were able to handle it better than others, but none actually died (obviously
 THE DRAGNEELS: (NATSU X LUCY)
Tumblr media
 Lila Dragneel:
Birthday: January 17th, 797
Magic type: Fifth Generation Fire Dragon Slayer; a dragon slayer who was taught and trained by first or second generation dragon slayers
Appearance:
-Height: 5’4 (about the same as Lucy)
-Hair color: Strawberry blonde-or more specifically Lucy’s blonde mixed with Natus’s pink
-Eyes: Exact carbon copy of Natsu’s-large and black.
-Has Natsu’s smile and more of athletic build but she is still uh… gifted
Tumblr media
 -Otherwise is Lucy’s clone
IMPORTANT FACTS:
-She got the name the name Lila because it’s close to Layla, and for whatever reason I like to think Layla would have liked Lilacs so it’s from the flower too.
-She fell victim to the same illness Ultear did. Because she’s been so strong from the beginning, she handled it relatively smoothly.
-She’s known for her physical strength
 Personality:
-Warm and bubbly
-A little whiny
-Loyal to a fault
-Stubborn
-Blunt like her father
-Very childlike and innocent like her father
-Very intelligent like her mother, but can be naïve and dense like Natsu
-She loves books and reading like her mother but is no writer.
-Unlike her father she is not the type to go out and seek fights… However… as Marie from the Aristicats said;
Tumblr media
-She was always a good student-particularly excelling in Literature and languages and anything physical (AKA she dominates PE and dodge ball is terrifying with her)
-Though not one to start a fight she does have a tempter and has gotten a number of detentions and at least one suspension for her reckless and destructive tendencies.
-Though if you ask her it’s never her fault because someone kept bugging her until she snapped and they deserved it.
Relationships:
-Extremely close with her mother
-Super close with her father and just seems to click with him more than Lucy. She’s a bit of daddy’s girl and will proudly admit it.
-Also close with her brother. They get along but he more than anyone else can push her buttons. They can fight and because they are Natus’s children it gets physical fast. But they’re still close and love each other.
-Her best friends include: Hazel Redfox and Eliza Fullbuster.
-And Happy. Always Happy
Tumblr media
-She tried to be friends with the older and therefore seemingly cooler Aurora Dryer but stopped said friendship after a nasty incident with Aurora and little Eliza.
-Her closest friend is Nick Fullbuster.
-They have somewhat of banter like Natsu and Gray in the sense they’re competitive with each other
An example of a banter:
“Spicy pink head!”
“Ice fairy princess!”
“Destructor!”
“Stripper!”
“Whiny pants!!”
“Pretty Boy!”
“Oh so you think I’m pretty huh?”
“SHUT UP!!”
It’s all-in good fun though.
-It’s also obvious that especially as they get older there is a HEAVY amount of romantic/sexual tension in this banter.
-Everyone but Lila is aware of this. It doesn’t become clear to her until it more less it’s her in the face.
Jude Ingeel Drangeel- Nickname Iggy
   Birthday: September 3rd, 802
Magic type: Celestial Magic.
Appearance:
-Height-5’7 (same height as Natsu)
-Hair: Spikey like his Natsu’s but blonde like Lucy’s
-Eyes: Natsu’s Eye Shape and Lucy’s color
-Same build as his father
-More or less a clone of his father with a few differences
-IMPORTANT FACTS
-His name is Jude Ingeel because both Natsu and Lucy agreed that Ingeel Drangeel was a little too much.
-He’s named after both grandfathers, because even though Jude Heartfillia was an ass hat to Lucy they left each other on a positive note and I like to think had she been able to she would have reconciled with him.
-He got the nick name Iggy because his sister thought Jude was stupid and boring and just started calling him Iggy and it stuck.
-Also known for his physical strength
-Also got the same illness Ultear had and like his sister got through it with relative ease
Personality:
-Loud
-Boisterous
-Loyal to a fault
-Protective to a fault
-Scary energetic
-Extremely warm and kind
-Stubborn
-Blunt
-Loves reading and writes like his mother.
-More willing to start a fight than sister, not as bad as his father. He knows there’s a time and place… most of the time
-Most of the fights he starts are with his older sister and Eliza (the later being with words)
-Extremely intelligent and not as dense and naïve as his father or sister.
-He only did okay in school because he was bored most of the time and just didn’t really try... he was also a familiar face at detention.
-He excelled at anything physical (again dodge ball is terrifying with this kid), anything involving writing and oddly music. No one knows where on earth he got it from.
Relationships
-He considers everyone in Fairy Tail his friend
-Very close with his mother, has been called a mama’s boy on occasion but swears he’s not
( *cough cough* he is  *cough cough*)
-Considers his father one his best friends
-Close with his sister but he does enjoy pushing her button a little too much which causes a lot of arguments that more than not escalate into physical fights.
-He also likes just tossing her over his shoulder to piss her off and because he can.
-He’s friends with Nick Fullbuster and Simon Scarlet by association but… they’re more like the annoying older brother’s he never asked for.
-His best friend in the whole world (besides his father and Happy) is Eliza… though their relationships can take on more of the trappings of the rivalry of their parents. It doesn’t turn physical because he knows better and doesn’t want to turn into a human popsicle, but it’s a little more heated than Nick and Lila.
-Everything jokes they’re going to end up together like they’re older siblings and to that Iggy said;
“Listen I love Eliza, she’s like my sister. Heck I like her more than my sister sometimes! But I would never, ever, ever never ever ever ever ever… EVER date her.”
-He then proceeded to get blasted into oblivion by a jet of water
-He does however have a bit of a crush on Rose Scarlet.
And there you have it! Hope you like it! Next up is my personal favorite and OTP-Gruvia!!

“ Don’t leave me… ” and/or “ Don’t die on me– Please. ” NaLu
Hewo Anon!  Whipped this up as quick as I could before bed, I hope it’s what you were looking for. Angst :)
Nalu Drabble, takes place after the 100 year quest.
They’d arrived home from the long mission only to find the smoldering ruins of Natsu and Happy’s cottage, and a message sent loud and clear.  Ignia must have been tracking them, because the damage was fresh, so fresh that parts of the structure was still smoking.  All of his and Happy’s possessions, his memento’s of the life he’d lived and adventures they’d had were gone.  The only clue left behind was a word burned into what was left of a wall.
“I’m sorry Lucy,” Natsu turns his back to the woman he loved more than anything in this world.  He didn’t want to see the tears pouring down her face when it was hard enough just smelling the salty air and hearing her sobs.  It wasn’t an easy decision to make, but he felt that it was the right one for them both.  Because if he didn’t try, Ignia would just keep coming back.
“This is not some training exercise that you’re leaving me for, it’s a possible death mission!”  Lucy beats her fists on his back with all the frustrations of a woman scorned.  “Just leave him be!  We can rebuild your home, we can make new memories, but we can’t bring you back if you…” she couldn’t finish the sentence.
After a pause, Natsu’s long exhale conveys his torn convictions.  “You might be right Luce, but I will not sit by and let him come for us again.  If he ki…  If he hurt you, there’s no telling how far into the darkness I would fall because of it.  I’m sorry Lucy but I have to stop him.”  Ignia had already threatened her life once so, how could he take the risk after seeing how far his brother would go.
Lucy falls to her knees in the grassy field.  She knew…  She knew this wasn’t the choice Natsu wanted to make, and she was scared, absolutely terrified of what might happen.  It wasn’t just the fact he planned to confront Ignia, but that he wanted to do it alone.  They were a team goddamnit!  They’d all seen just how powerful Ignia’s flames had been and the affect it had on Natsu.  The slayer’s skin had burned!  He’d lost control!  If Lucy hadn’t stepped in to stop him, what more would have happened?!
“Don’t leave me Natsu!  You can’t do this to me again!”
Natsu finally turns back, kneeling at her level.  “I will always do everything and anything in my power to keep you safe.”  He caresses her cheek, his thumb sweeping away a few of the tears.  “You know that, just as I know if it were reversed you’d do the same.”
“That’s exactly why I’m telling you not to go alone you big idiot!”
“Good bye Lucy.”  He leans his forehead to hers, closing his eyes and taking one last deep inhale committing her scent to memory.  Then Natsu stands up and walks away to where Happy waited for him without looking back.   She never saw the tears flowing down his cheeks as he prayed this wouldn’t be the last time he saw her.
She watches their fleeting figures sailing off into the distance.  Lucy’s body went completely numb, she couldn’t believe it.  All those faded emotions rushing back of when he’d left her for a year.  The image of his cold and lifeless body because the END side was trying to take hold.  His story fading from the END book.  And the vision of Natsu under the control of Ignia’s flames.  The possibility of Natsu dying…  Lucy’s fist curls into a ball and she strikes the ground.
“I’m gonna find you!!” she screams.  Like hell she would let Natsu suffer this on his own!
She stared at the clue trying to figure out its meaning.  ‘Acnologia.’  What did a dead dragon have to do with any of this?  By that point, word had filtered back to the guild.  Erza, Gray, and Wendy found Lucy still staring at that wall and pulled what little information they could get from her.  Ignia had mentioned Aconologia when they’d first met, and something about the surprise to find out Natsu had been the one to stop him, not alone, but that part of the tale didn’t seem to concern Ignia.
“I’ve got it!” Lucy scrambles to her feet.  “I know where they might be!”
It took the group a couple of hours by train to reach the port city of Hargeon.  It was the site of the final battle and maybe where Ignia would want to end his own sibling rivalry with the dragon’s killer.  But before they could reach the city, a loud explosion rocks the train so hard it slams on its breaks.  Panic grips the passengers and everyone rushes the windows to see what was going on.  Team Natsu is shocked as a billowing mushroom cloud of smoke rises above what looks to be the city.  More explosions go off in rapid succession until finally, a dead calm fills the air.
This wasn’t good!  The team rushes towards the city on foot.  Please let Natsu be okay!  Lucy screams in her head over and over.  At least when there was noise it meant the fighting was still on going but now, the eerie silence was like a death call ringing in her ears.  Her heart pounded in her chest.  Dear Mavis please let Natsu be…
Near the outskirts of the city is where they find two bodies lying at the bottom of a crater.  Both Ignia and Natsu were covered in burns, their clothes scorched and ragged, and their bodies unmoving, not even breathing.  Lucy screams and flings herself down the steep slope.  This can’t be happening!
“No!  No!  No!  Natsu!!”  She scoops Natsu’s lifeless body into her arms, cradling him tightly to her.  “Don’t die on me– Please!  You can’t leave me like this!”  Lucy screams for the healer as tears blur her vision, “Wendy, please help him, he’s not breathing!”
Wendy places her hands over Natsu’s body, but the grim expression on her face spoke to his dire straits.  “He’s exhausted too much of his magic reserves to sustain life…  Lucy,” the poor young girl burst into tears, “he’s too far gone for me to help him.”
This man who had a seemingly unending supply of vigor and life was on the verge of death and there was nothing she could do about it.  Rage fills her mind as Lucy looks over at the body of Ignia who was unconscious but still breathing.  That bastard!  Over a stupid sibling rivalry she might lose the love of her life!
Lucy sets Natsu into Gray and Erza’s care and flies at Ignia with unadulterated and pure hatred fueling her at this point.  She didn’t care how strong he was, this son of Igneel would pay dearly!  Lucy transforms into her Taurus star dress, wrapping her whip around the comatose dragon man’s neck and pulling it as tightly as she could.  Her friends are screaming at her to stop, that killing him won’t bring Natsu back, but their cries fall on deaf ears.  He killed her Natsu and for that he deserved to die too!
The loss of air is what snaps Ignia back to consciousness.  He fights against her, but Lucy is too far gone to feel pain, and she only pulls the whip tighter the more he struggles.
“Help…  I can…” Ignia manages to croak out.  Because he’d exhausted so much of is own magic fighting against Natsu, he was no match for her right now.  In the end, Natsu had been far more powerful than he’d expected and that was costing him.  “I… help!”
“Unless you practice necromancy,” Lucy seethes, “there’s not a damn thing you can do!”
“Can!”  Ignia is starting to lose consciousness again.  “Save…  Magic transfer…”
“Then do it!”  She drags the half-dead dragon over to Natsu.  “Now!!”
With the whip still firmly wrapped around his neck, they watch as Ignia places a hand on Natsu’s chest.  Heat pours from Ignia into the body of his pseudo brother for several minutes, transferring just enough magic to jump start Natsu’s reserves again.  Eventually Ignia goes limp from the drain and only then does Lucy release her hold on him and refocuses on Natsu.
Lucy cradles Natsu’s head in her lap as Wendy goes to work.  “Come back to me please.”  Her tears trickle onto his face.  “There’s something I need to tell you…”

Edens Zero Week: Favorite Moment/Scene in the Series
Today’s the day, right @edenszeroweek ?
I don't like where a lot of criticism of Fairy Tail comes from. It's usually from people who either didn't come into it expecting what it would give us and never learned to change their views on what the series is trying to do or people who dropped the series and then came back to it specifically to take shots at it. Of course, Fairy Tail is not without its problems, but I'm tired of seeing people lift up something like Craftsdwarf's  "Overly Long Analytical Tirade on Fairy Tail" being lifted up as doing to Fairy Tail what Digibro's "The Asterisk War Sucks" does to its respective series.  Especially when, as someone who has written about the series, I can honestly say that he doesn't go nearly as hard as possible where the series fails and makes incorrect assessments as to why it does fail in some instances.
Why bring this up in a post about Edens Zero?
If you couldn't tell, this series was doomed to be unpopular from the near start. Coming after what many, myself included, considered to be the worst arc in the series, people weren't excited about a series that was made by the same creator even when it was still an idea he was on the verge of sharing during his NYCC visit two years ago. It's because of these same types of people that Edens Zero, for better or worse, is considered how it is.
People with all sorts of allegiances and loves for Fairy Tail made jokes about how similar the original concept photos were to Fairy Tail characters. Even as the series started, it was interesting to see how people were considering this to be a type of Fairy Tail AU. What I saw, and still see, as a series that showed a combination of Mashima's best of the past works, people wrote off as another way to write his most recent famous work. Mangastream even stopped translating it exactly because they saw it as a Fairy Tail clone.
But what shocked me more is that, whether on purpose or by accident, Mashima responded back to the criticism. And his response culminates in my favorite moment in the series, thus far: the resolution to search for Mother.
It's important to remember the background behind this moment. When Shiki gets to the guild for the first time, this is one of his first big interactions with groups of people. The chapter before was his first time meeting different types of people, to begin with. However, they were mostly random citizens. This time, he's in a setting that is familiar to fans of Mashima's works: a guild hall. This time, the people he meets in the guild are going to be more important to Shiki...
Right?
After all, the members in guilds were important in Fairy Tail. The whole series revolved around the idea of being in a guild. That's why the series is called Fairy Tail. And given that Shiki has the desire to "make 100 friends" that would be fairly easy if he were to join the guild. And, Shadow Gear as a fun easter egg, reminds us about how the Fairy Tail was like. Why wouldn't things be different? Well, they were. The guild members who would have been Shiki's friends make fun of him for saying that he recognizes Mother. And Labilla belittles Rebecca and her B-Cube content.
For those who don't see why this may be a big deal as "jerks exist in the real world", it's worth comparing how this stacks up to Fairy Tail. When Wendy first joins the guild and says she's a Dragon Slayer, she's readily accepted as telling the truth. This is in spite of Wendy's fears literally being the opposite. While Natsu has his rivalries, I'm pretty sure he doesn't hold as much resent for Gray or Gajeel as Labilla does for Rebecca. And at least, they're considered potential equals, and not stronger, more popular members picking on weaker members.
Heck, the idea of a guild that humiliates its members is an actual setup for a guild that Fairy Tail is juxtaposed against in Sabertooth during the Grand Magic Games. And even then, one of the main plotlines of that arc is the reforming of the guild. More recent events in Edens Zero suggest that Guildmaster Noah has bad vibes around him reminiscent of Master Jiemma.
Something is definitely off about the way this guild operates, considering what Fairy Tail fans should know to be the way a guild operates. And Mashima knows this. If it weren't the case, he wouldn't have two panels that spell out this idea for those who don't get it. Two panels that also include the main characters of Fairy Tail.
The question, though, is why? Why do all of this in the first place?
To the average person, Edens Zero was setting itself to go down a similar setup for Fairy Tail. To be fair, it's hard to see "guy, girl, and not-cat go to a guild to make one of them a member" and not think of how this is just like that other series Mashima just finished. It would make sense to start that way as this is what his fans - no doubt the ones who are most excited to see more of his work - would expect to see in a story written by Mashima. They'd expect to see a story at least close to similar to Fairy Tail.
But... that's a bad thing.
Why should you expect a series to be similar just because the authors are the same? Shakespeare wrote Hamlet and A Midsummer Night Dream and the two are hilariously different in as many ways could be considered to matter. Akira Toriyama wrote Dr. Slump and Dragon Ball and they're not close to being similar. Even Fairy Tail isn't as similar to Rave Master as people would have you believe. (Myself included.)
To me, this is Mashima making a statement: this is not Fairy Tail. When Rebecca comments about how Shiki's idyllic view of how a guild should operate is "there was a manga like that some time ago", that's also a message to the fans. Of course, by virtue of being a Mashima work, we can expect subtle nods to (and overt rip-offs from) his past works. However, Mashima's trying to do something different from Fairy Tail in Edens Zero.
What exactly that something different is becomes manifested in the decision to find Mother.  I love this resolution because it's an amazing sign of how Shiki and Rebecca's characters play off each other. It's been implied that Shiki and Rebecca understand where the other is coming from in their views on both friendship and robots. We see this played out particularly well later on when Rebecca encourages Hermit to work with them.
However, what makes this special to me is that the idea to search for Mother works well for both of these characters in ways that directly benefit them. For Rebecca, she'll be able to find new, better material for her B-Cube channel both by searching for Mother and once they find her. For Shiki, he'll be able to come to understand why he recognizes her and he can make new friends along the way. That this search also comes with benefits such as Shiki learning more about Demon King Ziggy and Rebecca potentially gaining Ether Gear is also good. But that there is a clear and tangible motive to achieving a goal that can benefit both main characters of the series is important.
Fairy Tail didn't have this. I don't say this as a knock against Fairy Tail. However, Fairy Tail was not about Natsu and Lucy the same way Edens Zero is about Shiki and Rebecca. Natsu and Lucy were the lenses through which we saw the events within Fairy Tail, the guild, take place. While they had motivations and goals, the story wasn't exactly focused on their active efforts towards those goals. When they got closer to what they needed it was more through indirect means than actively finding what they were looking for. More often than not, the answers they wanted to their questions found them.
With this moment, Edens Zero is set up as a story where the characters will have to actively search for the things they're looking for. And, so far, that's been proven to be the case. They find the Edens Zero after looking for a ship. They find Sister once they start the search for members of the Edens Zero. They found Hermit after it was decided that she would be the easiest to find. You could argue that these searches happen in ways that are a bit too convenient, but the fact remains that they find what they need after they go looking for it.
Of course, that makes sense. The whole point of the series is a search. With their stop on Mildian, it's good to know that this isn't a never-ending search. They're not looking for something they can never find. We know Mother exists and is somewhere in the Cosmos. With all luck, we'll see all of the crew of Edens Zero find the Mother.
In Conclusion (this feels so good to bring back):
Mashima isn’t trying to make Fairy Tail 2.0 with Edens Zero. I love that Mashima has made it clear that he’s making a new series in Edens Zero.

Chapter 9: Magic Must Be Given Freely
The two men observed Erza and Gray nervously, even as Mira gave them a welcoming smile.
"Welcome to Fairy Tail, how can we help you?" Mira greeted them kindly, not seeming to realize who had just entered their guild. She glanced over at Erza, confused by her behavior.
"We'd like to speak to your Master. My name is Connor, I am the Master of the Penta Dragons," The older of the two men spoke, and gesturing towards the other man added, " My companion's name is Justin."
Justin bowed briefly, but his eyes never strayed from Erza and Gray.
"We know who you people are," Gray growled at the visitors, "You have a lot of nerve coming here." He could barely contain his rage. These people were responsible for the condition Natsu was in, and that was not something he was willing to ignore.
"GRAY! These men are our guests, you will either calm down or leave," A voice that could only belong to Makarov came from the second floor. Although he sounded friendly enough, he must have had the same idea as Gray because Laxus was nowhere in sight. He made his way downstairs to meet their visitors.
"But Gramps--," Gray protested, but Makarov cut him off with one scowl.
Erza took the hint and grudgingly sent her sword away.
She looked over at Gray worriedly, willing him to calm down as well. He'd been a mess ever since Natsu had disappeared. She knew exactly how he felt. Hell, she was itching for payback just as much as he was, but she understood it was best to let their Master handle it.
Gray glared at Makarov but began clenching and unclenching his hands in an attempt to keep himself under control. He very much wanted to hear what this man had to say.
"Please forgive my children, they are usually friendlier than this," Makarov remarked evenly, holding out his hand for a handshake. "I am Master Makarov. How can I help you?"
"It's alright. I wouldn't be too fond of me if I were him either," Connor replied, unconsciously moving closer to Justin as he acknowledged the barely contained fury in Gray's eyes.
"I am Connor," The Penta Dragons Master bowed his head in deference and gave Makarov his most charming smile before shaking his hand firmly.
He regarded the short man that stood in front of him. Connor knew the man was a powerful wizard, one of the Ten Wizard Saints of Fiore, but it was hard to reconcile that fact with the seemingly harmless old man that faced him.
"I want you to know that I had nothing to do with what happened to your dragon slayer, none of us did," Connor began, even though he knew this was a half-truth at best. He may not have known what Tiamat was up to, but he hadn't exactly gone out of his way to find out either, and it had been his idea to use the dragon slayers in the first place.
"It was never part of our plan for any of the dragon slayers to be hurt," Connor looked at Makarov apologetically. "Is he okay? Justin and I were barely able to get out of the building."
"What was this plan exactly?" Erza asked with as much diplomacy as she could muster. She hadn't missed that Connor had just admitted to leaving Natsu defenseless in a burning building.
Connor was about to speak when Makarov stopped him. "Hold on, let's go down to the library. There are some people there who should listen to this."
Makarov led the visitors to the guild's library where Levy, Freed, and Lucy were looking through the recovered books. Mira followed them, but Erza stayed behind wanting to check on Gray before they joined the others.
Erza grabbed Gray by the arm, "Are you going to be okay?"
Gray shrugged her off once again, "I'm fine."
Erza let him go without a fuss, but she had a feeling their definitions of fine were very different. She glanced up at the infirmary before pursing her lips and entering the guild's library.
"Everyone, I need your attention," Makarov announced as he entered, causing the three researchers to look up at him with interest. "This man is the Master of the cult that summoned Tiamat, I'd like you to listen to what he has to say."
Lucy, Levy, and Freed nodded, switching their attention to Master Connor. Levy offered Connor a small smile, while Freed regarded the man warily. Lucy didn't seem to know how to feel, so she peered at Erza's expression instead.
Once they were all sitting comfortably in one of the long tables, Makarov eyed the Penta Dragon's Master expectantly.
Connor cleared his throat nervously, he had no idea how this was going to go. He needed Fairy Tail's help to stop Tiamat, but he couldn't get a read on these people.
Justin grabbed his hand under the table and squeezed it once before letting go. Connor smiled at him gratefully. He recited a quick prayer in his mind for luck and began.
"We summoned Tiamat from the Nine Hells because we were convinced she was the only one strong enough to defeat Acnologia. We were aware she wasn't exactly trustworthy, so we spent years doing research and planning our next move. We wanted to make sure we could keep her under our control before we even considered summoning her, so we used all the information we could find on her to devise elaborate binding rituals. "
Freed interrupted, making no attempt to mask his scorn, "Did you really think you'd be able to bind a God to do your bidding? There is no magic capable of doing that."
Connor frowned, there was nothing he could really say. The green haired man was right, he knew that now, but at the time he'd been willing to believe plenty of things in the interest of saving their world.
"At least he tried to do something," Justin protested.
"Yeah, and look at what that got us," Gray growled in response.
"That's enough!" Makarov snapped, he looked at each of his brats in turn, his expression communicating he expected them to keep their emotions in check. When he was satisfied they'd understood he nodded at the Penta Dragons Master to continue.
"When she arrived on Earthland, her magic would be dormant. In her dragon form, she has five heads, much like the symbol on our cloaks. To restore the magic in each of those heads, she would need to absorb the power from a matching dragon."
"She couldn't force the magic out of them, it would have to be given freely. In the past, when dragons were abundant, she would have found five chromatic dragons to bed, but that wasn't possible in our time, so we set about identifying matching dragon slayers. The Grand Magic Games allowed us to find four of them and so we set our plan in motion."
"Wait. Are you saying that if Tiamat raped the dragon slayers, she wouldn't be able to get their magic?" Freed interrupted Connor.
"That is correct, the magic can't be taken by force. It must be given freely. That is why we needed to identify someone the dragon slayer would respond to so she could shapeshift into them."
Gray's mind was racing, Lyon had said the healer knew that Natsu had been raped. He was pretty sure that meant she'd found evidence of anal sex which Erza or Lucy would not have been able to do. The fact the Natsu was now pregnant supported that argument for the same reason.
But If the magic had to be given freely that changed everything. Did that mean Natsu willingly had sex with someone he thought was him?
That didn't make sense though, Natsu didn't think of him that way, he never had, and Gray would know. Over the years he'd waited for a signal from the dragon slayer that never came. He'd once even flirted clumsily with Juvia to see if he got a reaction, to no avail. To his frustration, Natsu's only response had been a small smile that seemed to encourage his friend to 'Go for it.'
Sting? Tiamat had been with Sting, it would have been easy for her to change into him. That made more sense. The two dragon slayers had a natural closeness that he sometimes envied when compared to their constant rivalry.
Wait a minute, what was he even thinking? Natsu had been forced to take something that made the rather innocent dragon slayer agree to have sex in the first place. Gray was pretty sure consent was hazy at best in this scenario.
A few days ago, he'd prayed that he'd not been the one that did this. So why was he now wishing that Natsu would have chosen fake him over fake Sting?
He felt someone squeezing his hand gently and looked to find Lucy giving him a worried look. He quickly looked away and tried to focus on what was being said.
Makarov's face was stern as he asked, "Which dragon slayers were you interested in?"
Connor knew if he wanted this man's help, he needed to be honest with him. He took a deep breath and said, "Natsu and Laxus from Fairy Tail, Sting and Rogue from Sabertooth and Cobra from Oracion Seis."
He looked at Makarov intently, trying to gauge his reaction, but the man's face gave nothing away.
"All of the mages we sent to observe the dragon slayers could teleport, but only Natsu and Laxus seemed to be able to spot them consistently, which made it difficult for us to learn much about them."
Connor pointed at his companion, "Justin here is one of our best, and he wasn't able to find out anything about Natsu that wasn't already public knowledge, even after trailing him for weeks."
Even though they had suspected, Makarov was enraged at receiving confirmation that his mages had indeed been surveyed. He would never forgive himself for not taking Laxus and Natsu's reports more seriously. He was now determined to do everything in his power to help Natsu recover from this, he owed him that much.
Connor felt a surge in magic energy emanating from Makarov and paused, not sure what was happening. When Makarov nodded at him, he continued his story valiantly.
"Red dragons are the strongest of the chromatic dragons, and Tiamat was adamant about getting Natsu's magic early on. But with no useful information on him, Tiamat and I were forced to shadow his team on a mission. She can shapeshift into anyone, but to fool the dragon slayers senses she needed to touch the subject to be able to absorb their scent."
Lucy felt nauseated by everything she'd heard but learning their team had been so close to Tiamat without even being aware of it was almost more than she could handle. She forced herself to continue listening, noticing the abject fury that was visible on both Gray and Erza's faces.
"Tiamat doesn't leave anything to chance," Connor tried to avoid the glares from Natsu's teammates, he could already tell they were going to be a problem, not that he could blame them. "Even though she was sure that your Erza Scarlet would be the one she needed to seduce Natsu, she made sure to absorb the scent of every one of his teammates."
Erza gripped the arm of her chair so hard as she tried to contain her temper that she managed to shatter it, resulting in a violent shower of splinters. Connor stared at her nervously.
Erza bowed her head, keeping her face hidden for a few minutes. Gray got another chair, and the two had a whispered conversation until Makarov cleared his throat.
"I apologize," Erza said, "Please continue."
"Are you sure they should be here?" Connor asked Makarov.
"They'll be fine," Makarov assured him.
Connor very much doubted that but continued anyway. "Tiamat waited for a chance to make her move on Natsu, but he was never alone. When the moment came, she failed in her attempt to seduce him and fearing she wouldn't get another chance she knocked him out with her newly awakened light magic."
Connor stopped to consider how he wanted to frame the rest of the story, but Justin caught his gaze and shook his head. Connor sighed, but he knew his friend was right, no matter how much he wished to protect him, there could be no concealing of his actions.
"Justin teleported both of them to our headquarters in Margaret Town and placed him in a magic sealing stone. I asked her to send him back, but she refused. She claimed she had plans for him, but she didn't elaborate."
The faces of the mages were becoming more hostile with every new bit of information, Connor noticed several of the mages were glaring at Justin, and he hoped that Makarov could guarantee the boy's safety.
"If you thought she was under your control, why didn't you push the issue?" Freed accused, "You could have had Justin teleport Natsu back."
"We still needed his magic," Connor reminded him.
"I don't understand," Levy spoke for the first time, "What were you expecting to happen?"
Connor had no answer to give the girl, so he answered the green haired man's question instead.
"I didn't push because by this point, I had begun to realize that maybe the binding rituals hadn't worked. Tiamat was an outstanding actress, I realize now she was never under our control. We kept her in another magic sealing stone but usually left her to her own devices once she was inside. It seems she was getting out and visiting Natsu in his. I honestly didn't know this was happening. It was my understanding that magic sealing stones rendered magical abilities ineffective."
"Three days!" Gray slammed his fist on the table, making Connor jump. "Three days you let this go on. It never occurred to you to check on him? Give him food or water? What the hell is wrong with you? And what now? You want us to help you fix your mistake?"
"GRAY?!" Makarov roared.
"Don't worry Gramps, I'm leaving!" Gray got up and left the library, slamming the door behind him.
This time Makarov didn't bother to apologize for him, as much as he didn't appreciate Gray's attitude the boy wasn't wrong.
Lucy and Erza made no attempt to hide their hostility, both openly glaring at Justin. He had followed Natsu around trying to get information on him, had teleported him when he was unconscious and then placed him at Tiamat's mercy in a magic sealing stone where he wouldn't be able to defend himself. Justin gulped as he felt the warmth of their stares on him.
Those glares were not lost on Makarov, he noticed Freed's reaction wasn't much better. He wasn't all that surprised, they'd been taught to consider each other as family, and one of their siblings had been hurt. He just hoped he was able to impress on them the importance of cooperating with these men. They had to stop Tiamat before she could come after Rogue, Laxus, and Cobra.
"I am so sorry, I don't know what else to say. We never expected any of this to happen, we just wanted to rid the world of Acnologia and his destruction," Connor said sadly.
"The end doesn't justify the means," Levy pointed out.
"No, young lady, it does not," Connor agreed levelly, "That's why we're here.
"I heard screams outside my office and came out only to find the building and everyone in it in flames. Tiamat was watching the people burn in front of her as they screamed in agony and she was laughing. It was horrible, if Justin hadn't teleported us out of the building when he did, we would never have survived."
Connor shuddered at the memory, he hadn't been able to get a good night's sleep since that day. The vision of Tiamat's sadistic glee as she watched his friends die painfully was one he would never be able to forget.
Tiamat wouldn't stop until she got what she wanted. It was what prompted him to come to Fairy Tail and beg for their help if that's what it took. Connor needed to impress upon them how dangerous she really was, although he suspected whatever she'd done to Natsu had been enough to make them want to go after her.
"I have no doubt she will come after Cobra, Laxus, and Rogue to reclaim the last of her dormant magic. We must not allow that to happen. The stronger she gets, the more access she will have to her godly spells. I hope that somewhere in those books there might be a way to banish her once again."
"Godly spells, what are those?" Levy asked with interest, although there was a twinge of trepidation in her voice.
"They're like no magic on Earthland," Connor replied, "I've only read about it in books, I do know that awakening her fire magic has put her at almost half power. Any additional magic she absorbs will give her access to more powerful spells. Spells that will allow her to mold our world into whatever she wants."
"I know I have no right to ask this, but I need your help to send her back to the Nine Hells where she was banished to four hundred years ago," Connor beseeched Makarov.
Makarov already knew he would help them. A powerful creature like Tiamat could not be allowed to roam unchecked, especially not when she was preparing to come after them. They needed to stop her, not only to protect their own but to save humankind from her revenge.
But it wasn't going to be easy, judging from his brats reactions it would be challenging to get them to cooperate. Erza, Gray, and the dragon slayers in particular.
He'd have to exact promises from them to keep them from seeking retribution for Natsu, and he would need to guarantee some sort of protection for the teleportation mage.
He also wasn't about to make the mistake of trusting these people just because they were reaching out to them to correct their failure. He needed to make sure to keep them away from the dragon slayers and Natsu in particular. There was still the possibility that they were here at Tiamat's behest.
He thought long and hard about the best way to manage this situation before finally responding.
"These are my terms, and they're not up for negotiation. First, you are not to approach any of the dragon slayers unless they request your presence, and that includes Gajeel and Wendy."
Makarov could feel his brats eyes on him as he explained his terms but kept his own gaze on the Master of the Penta Dragons. He waited until he received a nod from him before continuing with his conditions.
"Second, you will share everything you know with our researchers and help them continue their research. That includes any future communications you might receive from Tiamat or any other surviving Penta Dragons member."
"That is fine, I have researched many of those books already so I should be able to help." Connor agreed readily.
"Third, you will stay here where we can keep an eye on you. We have rooms you can stay at in the guild," Makarov noticed the relief on both men's faces but wasn't sure how to interpret it.
"Fourth, you will not share any knowledge with outside parties unless I approve it, and you will not take it upon yourself to act without consulting me first."
"These are all fine, we will agree to any condition," Connor said impatiently.
"I'm not done," Makarov said firmly. "In return, we will protect you from the Magic Council, I will ensure that Justin will remain safe from any retribution, and we will help you take on Tiamat when the time comes. "
"We accept your terms," Connor shook Makarov's hand gratefully as the Fairy Tail Master questioned how the hell he was going to get his mages to agree to them as well.
xxx
Tiamat walked around Era trying to figure out the best way to get into the Magic Council's prison. She looked at people coming in and out, but they were all checked by the guards. She needed someone that they would easily overlook. Someone whose presence they wouldn't question. She supposed she could try to teleport in, but she assumed that they must have ways around that. It was a prison after all.
She wasted a second day watching the prison entrance from a nearby cafe, finally settling on the Head Captain of the Custody Enforcement Unit, a man by the name of Lahar. He visited the prison several times a day and was usually just waved through. She followed as he left the prison and overheard him telling a man with an X shaped scar on his face that they would be going to Hargeon the next day. She would put her plan in motion then.
The next morning Tiamat changed herself into Lahar. She didn't bother to look in a mirror, she already knew she would look just like him. She'd had this ability since the moment she came into being. Tiamat ran her mind through what she'd seen of the man so that she could imitate his behavior. That was the tricky part. She took a breath and headed for the entrance to the prison. As expected, Lahar was waved right through. Tiamat was inside.
She looked around and saw hundreds of magic sealing stones floating in the air. How was she supposed to find Cobra in that mess? She couldn't very well look into every cell without looking suspicious. She looked around to see if there was someone she could ask. There wasn't. Tiamat cautiously made her way to the first row of cells peering into the first one and quickly moving on to the next one.
She heard a cough behind her and turned to see a frog-like creature staring at her. "Captain Lahar, can I help you with something?"
"Ah yes, I am looking for a prisoner. His name is Cobra. The Council wishes to interrogate him."
"Cobra... Cobra...hmm... is he one of the guys from Oracion Seis?"
"Yes. That's the one."
The frog creature looked at some kind of screen, and a magic sealing stone came down from somewhere close to the ceiling. It approached Tiamat with some magical sealing cuffs. "Here, you will need to put these on him before you take him out of his cell for questioning."
Tiamat grabbed the cuffs and thanked the creature for their help. She approached Cobra's cell and went inside. She looked at the man sitting on the floor and threw the cuffs at him.
"Put these on."
Cobra smirked at Lahar but put them on. "Feeling kinky today, Lahar?", he asked in a sarcastic tone, making sure to put extra emphasis on the name. Tiamat looked at him in surprise.
"Who are you?" Cobra looked at Tiamat with interest, "You are definitely not Lahar."
Tiamat was at a loss for words. No one had ever figured her out this quickly before. She chose to stay quiet and pulled Cobra up from his sitting position on the floor.
"If you want me to go willingly, you need to tell me who you are. I made a promise to stay in here, and I don't intend on breaking it unless I have a good reason."
Tiamat looked at Cobra in frustration. Stupid, frustrating dragon slayers. Still, Cobra was a green dragon. Green dragons had always loved her the best. Maybe she could appeal to that love. She looked inside of him but saw no dragon laying dormant inside. He must be one of those second generation ones Connor had told her about.
"I am Tiamat," She said simply.
"The dragon goddess?"
Tiamat nodded. She looked at him to gauge his reaction to the information she'd just given him. He looked at her and laughed.
"Okay, that's at least worth a talk."
"I can get you out of here."
"As I told you, I made a promise. I could certainly go for a walk though."
Cobra allowed himself to be removed from his cell. He followed Lahar and let himself be led outside. Tiamat wasted no time and teleported them to the room where she had stayed the previous night.
Cobra sat on the bed and pointed to the cuffs that were around his wrists. "Do you mind taking these off for a bit?"
She thought about it, this dragon slayer was not like the others. He unsettled her.
"You're a goddess, it's not like I can do anything to you," He pointed out.
She grudgingly removed the cuffs.
"Thanks. Now, can you show me what you look like?"
She found herself obeying his requests. She transformed into her Dark Lady avatar and stood before him.
"Much better. Now, do you think you could order up some room service or something? The food at the prison is terrible, and you took me away before I could have breakfast," He looked at her expectantly.
Cobra's eyes lit up with amusement all of a sudden, and he said, "Hey! There's no need for that kind of language. I did ask nicely."
She looked at him flabbergasted. She had not said a word! She glared at him once she realized what he'd done.
"You can hear my thoughts, can't you?" She asked accusingly, already knowing the answer.
He grinned at her, looking very satisfied with himself.
"And yours are amazingly loud. I'm flattered, really I am, but there's only one being in this world that I'm interested in that way."
"Get out of my head!" Tiamat snarled.
"I can't control it, trust me, it's overwhelming. Being in prison is the only time I've experienced true silence in years."
His stomach chose that moment to rumble, and he looked at her questioningly.
"Fine. I'll be right back. Don't go anywhere."
Tiamat left the room and procured some food and drink for the two of them. She quickly returned to find Cobra in exactly the same position as when she'd left.
"Maybe the food will distract me from listening to the lies that you're concocting in your head right now," Cobra laughed at her annoyed expression.
Ugh, why did he have to look so smug? Tiamat did not like to be at a disadvantage. She had told the man she was a goddess shouldn't he at least be a little intimidated? She scowled as she saw him try to hide a smirk in his food.
"So, what do you need me for?" Cobra gazed at her with interest while continuing to stuff his face.
"Aren't you going to just grab it from my thoughts?" She said grouchily.
"Maybe I just like the sound of your voice." And he winked at her. The son of a bitch had the nerve to wink at her! She couldn't wait to take him back to prison.
"Fine. I don't have enough magic yet. I need to absorb your magic to awaken my green dragon magic."
He studied her with interest. "So you can defeat Acnologia?"
"Yes."
"Why did you just think about Dragneel?" He looked at her with distrust.
"He's more of a side project, nothing for you to worry about," She said as she forced her mind empty of anything to do with the Fire Dragon Slayer or Igneel.
"Whatever. Well, I hate to disappoint you, but you aren't getting your hands on this body. I do have an idea that might work though."
He finished his meal and stood up. "Let's go somewhere isolated."
"You're going to give me your magic, just like that?" Tiamat looked at him incredulously. He really was a strange man.
Cobra just nodded at her. She grabbed his arm and teleported them to one of the secluded snow covered mountains in Era. She looked around to make sure they were alone and let go of his arm.
"Why are you doing this?" Tiamat asked him curiously.
"I went up against a dragon recently, and I wasn't able to defeat him. Hell, I was barely able to hurt him. I'm pretty sure that dragon was weaker than Acnologia. If my magic can help take him down while I rot in prison, I can live with that."
"So what is this idea of yours?"
"I want you to transform into your dragon form. I am going to channel all of my magic into one roar. Have your green dragon absorb it."
She looked at him as she ran the idea through her mind. It certainly wouldn't be as pleasurable, but it could work. She transformed into her dragon form and looked down at the dragon slayer. He looked a bit shaken. She grinned in triumph.
"Here goes." Cobra concentrated on his magic. He began collecting it inside his body, making sure to get every last drop. He took a breath and focused all of that power into his roar.
POISON DRAGON ROAR
Cobra aimed his roar at Tiamat's green head, and she absorbed it, making sure to gather all the magic inside her. He collapsed weakly on the ground, and she considered testing her new power on him but then thought better of it. He had willingly chosen to help her, even if she really couldn't understand why. Tiamat aimed her green magic elsewhere and was relieved to see it work.
"You look pretty cool as a dragon. I'm glad I got to see it," Cobra smiled at her. "Now let's get me back to prison before they suspect something."
She turned back into Lahar and placed the cuffs back on Cobra. She teleported them close to the prison and then walked them back inside.
They walked past the frog creature towards Cobra's cell. Lahar took his cuffs off and went to place him back inside. To her chagrin, Cobra chose that moment to kiss her cheek and whisper "Good luck, Tiamat."
Her cheeks flushed, and she did not miss his chuckle from inside his cell. The frog creature was looking at Lahar very strangely.
'Stupid dragon slayer,' She thought, confused by the sudden fondness she felt.

A/N: I made a lot of changes from the posted version to the first part. there are a lot more reactions instead of a long wall of exposition. I hope you like it. The Cobra part remained mostly the same.

i can't send the symbol for some reason but please talk about your ocs?
Sorry this took me so long to get to - today was Brutal at work.  So I’m going to talk about one of my OC’s that I rarely say anything about, from my fic Unconventional Beauty: Ari.
Ari is the son of Natsu and Juvia, and he has a twin sister named Ignis.  He looks a lot like Natsu, with pink hair, but he’s a water elemental mage.  His official mage name fluctuates between Red Tide and Blood Mage, because although he’s a water mage, the water comes out looking red or orange half the time, which frustrates him greatly.  Most things frustrate him.  He’s a very grumpy child.  Once, he lost control of his magic and it began to rain red water, which terrified the populace of Magnolia for a good while until he got that under control.
Although he has a slight rivalry with his incredibly cheerful sister, he’s the one who sticks up for her the most.  He’s nearly drowned a few people for staring when Ignis accidentally burns her clothes.
He’s crushing heavily on Sting’s daughter, but she barely notices that he exists, and that’s largely due to the age difference (she’s five years older).
Ari himself is just as oblivious to the fact that Gray’s daughter is crushing on him.
He’s closer to his mother than his father, due to the training she’s put him through for his magic, but he’s going through a resentful phase against both parents at the moment.  The only other male mage his age in Fairy Tail right now is Oberon, and he greatly annoys Ari, so he really doesn’t have any friends in the guild at the moment outside of his sister.  Doesn’t help that he’s really, really hard to get along with (hopefully he’ll grow out of it someday).

The Evolution of Erza Scarlet
This is in response to @thegreatrhapsode‘s post on what he would do for Erza Scarlet’s character in a re-write. Being an avid Scarlet fan myself, I couldn’t help but thrown in some of my two cents. My disclaimer: I’m not an impartial reviewer - I’m approaching this like I would a fanfic - what could make an interesting story. So yeah, this will be what interests ME. So, sorry-not sorry to anyone else who thinking what I have down here is trash. XP
Armors and Powers:
I actually love the idea of her having to go without those armors for a while for repairs or even reforged into a more powerful version. While they are broken, she'll find that she needs to increase her base stats more (like Zoro does) so she can train her physical stats even more, or her actual sword fighting technique. So the next couple of fights, she focuses on using just the weapons themselves instead of relying too much on her armor stash. A ‘retraining’ of herself of sorts. Instead of breaking up Natsu and Gray’s fights all the time, she joins in to keep her actual fisticuffs skills up to par. For her reaction and speed training, having Alzack and Bisca use their requip to shoot magic bullets at her might be intense enough for her to try.
Or hell, even another thought - learning how to capture her opponents blade by placing her own version of 'enchantment' on them. Whichever blades she can successfully enchant, she can wield with her telekinesis-like ability that she displayed when she first manifested her power and also when she brought down the Hall of Thunder. It would be a literal ‘Blade Steal’. This is where I thought ‘Queen of Blades’ could also become a later moniker of hers. It’s possible and if fits with her powers and skills. She enchants whatever item she desire with her magic and that is how she can bring it in and out of her ‘storage’ a la ‘ReQuip’.
Another idea might be one for her getting materials for the reforging of her old armor. The Flame Empress is easy - have Natsu help enchant it with his Fire Dragon Magic during the actual reforging of that set. The Black Wing and the Heaven’s Wheel can also get improvements but not as much as some others. Purgatory Armor should just be left out...that was freaking useless. To replace that one, she can go hunting for new armors and THIS is where she finds the Nakagami armor set or even a few other new ones. If her power is tied to her armor, then she should have been constantly upgrading her armor by reforging different pieces, inlaying lacryima into them - anything. Heaven’s Wheel is her favorite go-to armor? Have that thing double the amount of blades with that set and even make the swords more durable and able to shoot her magic energy through the tips or something - like her Photon Laser armor set. Honestly, Erza is properly OP just with a bit more application of the powers available to her from the start.
I think it would be amusing if she put on one of her old magic armor sets and it broke because she had too much power for it to properly channel. It would be nice if she didn’t have to rely on armor ALL the time.
Story and Goals:
Having a set goal is good - having an obscure goal like ‘to be strong enough to protect my family’ is ... okay. That sort of goal only works for the MC of the story but yeah... I wouldn’t have minded the ‘Wizard Saint’ goal if Natsu didn’t defeat Jellal in ToH like he did. The fight needs a bit more depth to it despite what it already represented. To me, having the Natsu vs Jellal fight represent her Past vs her Present+Future is pretty good symbolism in of itself. Power-wise... I think if she had helped out and it took both Natsu and Erza to beat him, it would lend a bit more weight to the ‘level of a Wizard Saint’ thing. Would also help solidify the fact that Jose rightly took her apart during the Phantom Lord Arc because he was that strong to be a ranked member of the Saints. Little things like that make the story easier for me to believe - maybe that’s just a ‘me’ thing. Maybe Erza didn’t want to become a Saint because she didn’t want to put herself on the same level as Makarov yet - that could also be a thing. She feels indebted to him and she doesn’t want to do anything to usurp his role to her in her mind. It may take Makarov himself to kick her in the ass to get her to try out for it. Pride of a father watching his beautiful daughter taking her rightful place in the world - nice moment right there. Gray may support her since he knows enough that Erza’s path may take her away from Fairy Tail. Natsu, however, doesn’t want her to leave and may even throw a tantrum or quietly ask if she’s just leaving them because she doesn’t like it here anymore which hurts Erza because she thinks the world of Natsu and even as bone-headed as he is, he’s important to her. They decide to have a battle - if Natsu wins, Erza stays, if Erza wins, she leaves and Natsu won’t say anything else. They fight and Natsu brings his ‘S-ranked’ game to this and Erza has to fight harder than ever before, not just because Natsu became stronger (flame of emotion, remember), but because she’s also undecided in her own heart. In the end, she decides to postpone her applying to the Wizard Saint position because she wants to go on more adventures and make more memories with her family. So Titania stays with Fairy Tail even though she’s at Wizard Saint lvl.
She may decide to help train Natsu and Gray to become S-ranks so that they guild will remain strong in her absence (another goal for her and also gives Natsu a path for increasing his battle power).
Not getting into Irene on that one... maybe if someone asks me, I’ll delve into it.
Relationships:
Okay, @thegreatrhapsode, you can tune me out here. XD Her relationships with her guildemates, her friends, Natsu and Gray and Wendy, and of course, Jellal. It should be very well known and well documented that I strongly dislike Jellal in this story - which is a shame because I will sing Seig Hart’s praises til the end of time. I like Seig even more than Shuda and Shuda was BAMF in Rave. Showing her becoming less strict is a good thing. I wouldn’t mind if she became the guild master and said many of the same things that Makarov said. That lil old man was essentially her father figure so it makes sense that she takes a lot of what he says to heart. So she becomes less stern and more accepting of those who don’t ‘live up’ to her old standards - instead, she may even do away with that line of thinking and encourage her fellow guildmates to live in a way that they can find out for themselves the reason for their magic, why they do what they do, and continue to live from day to day. She needs more time with Mira, Cana, and Wendy as well. Cana got shoved to the side and she really didn’t deserve that. Cana is one of the old guard, right along with Erza, Natsu, Gray, Mira, and Laxus - those are the core of the next gen of Fairy Tail. They should have a bond between them that is hard to pin down but probably the most sibling-like of any of the bonds in Fairy Tail. Sure, they may belong to different teams but for those 6 - I think they should be ‘That One Squad’ you don’t want to mess with. Like they should have been able to go up against the Oracion Seis... XD Okay maybe not, but hopefully you can grasp what I mean. As more and more people get added into the story (Lucy, Juvia, Gajeel, Thundergod Tribe, Wendy and Charles, etc), we should see that tight-knit circle growing in size but never losing it’s original strength of these people being the core of the Fairy Tail that the story is following. How they relate to Erza is that these are the ‘actual family’ that she relies on - everyone else is extended family. Hate to break it up into those terms but that’s how I see it. I’ll address Jellal before I get to Gray and then Natsu - personally, they all deserve their own sections - they are that important to Erza.
Jellal: Okay, real plot-talk here. I don’t like the fact that his redemption and his romance with Erza are essentially two-in-one. I don’t care how tortured of a soul he is or how good he was previous to the possession. Romance + Redemption is a disaster - especially if the romance partner ends up dying. If Erza died, there’s no where for Jellal to go but right back into darkness. Sure, he might do it in revenge of Erza’s killer if she died that way, but seriously, take Erza away and Jellal has no foothold to stand on - that is what makes him and the entire thing with Erza weak. I really don’t think Erza should have auto-switched to Jellal like she did - it was too sudden. Kinda makes you wonder why did she wait all those 8 years stewing for... *shrugs* Anyway, whether I like it or not, Jellal is very important to Erza - he gave her hope in what was her darkest time - I will never dispute this. And yet, he dashed that to pieces when he got possessed and went nuts, threatening her that if she ever got help to come back and free the others, that he’d kill them all. That should have had a much deeper psychological impact on her - much deeper than just a short arc for her to get over it and pursue a romance with him. *shakes fist at Mashima*. Damn it, I didn’t want this part to be a rant... Like I said in the above - Jellal is her past. Yes, he is both a bright spot and a dark smear on her past and her memories. And he should remain as that. She would want him to regain the light once more and that’s not a problem. But I think that he’d have a LOT to prove with her other than looking like a sad puppy and crying. As much faith as Erza showed Natsu during the Nirvana arch, why didn’t he ask her just who was Natsu to her - get her flustered a bit. XD I really would like a Jella/Natsu rivalry just because of the raw emotion that was shown in ToH. Sorry but actions speak louder than words and Jellal has 8 years to make up for. You’ll notice that I’m not referencing Ultear here - that’s because I don’t hold her responsible for that brainwashing in my head. I’m fully aware that it’s canon but Ultear has enough on her plate without throwing the huge mountain of crimes and ‘sins’ that Jelly amassed during that time. She should have been kept as a viable route for him to take as well. Either way, I think a fair bit of time needs to be spent on Jellal even being a continuing villain in FT or put him on the long, hard road of recovery. Either way, that’s something that he’ll have to make on his own and not rely on hiding behind Erza’s impenetrable aura of ‘Erzaness’ to defend him.
Gray: Gray is definitely the mature one between himself and Natsu. He is level-headed (for the most part) and can deal with complex things that Natsu either can’t deal with or just doesn’t want to. He and Erza can have long talks about different topics without it delving into fighting or annoyance. If she engaged in this with Gray more, it would do wonders for showing us how she sees him and vice versa. I really think that Erza should have taken both Gray and Natsu out with her on missions by themselves but Eisenwald was the first time she took both at once because she needed all their powers. But anyway, having Erza reveal that she trusts Gray with the hard plans because he can think his way through tough spots (like in Edolas with the key and the Dragon Cannon), would be a great set of moments for the both of them to learn just to what extent they see each other. Erza and Gray come off more like the older sister, middle brother type relationship but again, THEY ARE NOT BROTHER AND SISTER!
Natsu: I’ll... keep this brief... Or try to. First and foremost - THEY ARE NOT BROTHER AND SISTER SO ANYTHING ROMANTIC WITH THEM IS NOT  INCEST - PERIOD!!!! *huffs* .... There, glad we cleared that up. Now, even though I like Natza (perhaps a bit too much for some people) - them suddenly starting a relationship after ToH is a bit much...even for me. Like many have brought up - Erza sees Natsu and Gray as much her actual brothers as one could. It would take some time for the viewpoint to allow for her to see Natsu as something more. ToH provided enough to give that perception a brief rattle in my book but hey.... She thinks of him a lot - I mean A LOT. Likewise, he does things for her that make a good amount of people have to adjust their eyes to make sure of what they’re seeing. They can both strength each other and also hold the other back. They inspire each other - they believe in each other with a faith so strong, it defies all reason. Other writers and Tumblrs have brought up that Natsu probably reminded Erza of Jellal from their actual slave days and she wanted to make sure that he would be a man who would never succumb to darkness (and she succeeded in that). They both need more awareness of each other, but mostly for Natsu in order for any romance to kick over. If I did it, both Natsu and Erza wouldn’t even realize that they were in that sort of relationship. It would probably be towards the 2nd to last arc before Natsu realized that he lllllliiikes herrrrrr like that. Again, growth on his part as well but he needs to become more mature and also more aware of the more complicated aspects of life. And yes, I’m aware that Natsu has a LOT of growing up to do but I don’t want that to come at the expense of who he is and what he is to the story. Ugh... Keep it brief... So yes,  a slow burn for their relationship upgrade would be best. Asking for his opinion on more and more personal things, making him study/read more to bring up his IQ...things like that.
She doesn’t need an active romance to be Erza. She was fine before and she’d be fine after. Yes, I’m aware that she wants to become a bride and she wants to have a family and all of that - there’s no reason that she can’t have that. Like I said before, this is me thinking of it in a story and while I do prefer Natsu as her mate, I can ‘adjust’.
I really could keep on adding more to this but I gotta drop it right here. Agree - Disagree - that’s fine. It’s just my own perspective on how I see it. :p This is how I see Erza from the first 100 chapters evolving in a way that keeps with the original direction and still manages to make an impact with her.

Chapter 7: The Shinsengumi of Fairy Tail ~ A Guide
Note:  The REAL Chapter 7 is in progress, but a number of people commented that although they really liked the story, they were getting confused by all the names.  So welcome to Levy’s Guide to the Shinsengumi of Fairy Tail!
My fabulous NEW GAJEVY CHIBIS (!!!) were created by MintAnneComics.
(Please don’t reproduce my commissioned art without asking me, thanks. :)
Fanfiction copy of the chapter is linked above. Text is posted below.
Chapter 7—The Shinsengumi of Fairy Tail
Author's Note: It is taking me longer to finish writing the final chapter of this Gajevy story than I had anticipated. In the meantime, I wanted to address the comment that although the characters are entertaining, it isn't easy to keep track of who is who without knowing more about the Shinsengumi. Consequently, this "chapter" is actually a short "cast of characters" that I hope will be both interesting and helpful to those of you who have tried to follow my rapidly-expanding list of players! For what it's worth, I had to do this for my other Shinsengumi-related story (now at 81 chapters) for similar reasons—it's just easier to keep track of what's going on when you know who is who and how they are connected.
All of those listed are real historical characters, although their real life counterparts did not necessarily have the same appearance as described in this story. I note, however, that Hijikata Toshizō was described as being "as handsome as an actor" and had a number of women interested in him. He never married. Moreover, since this story is at least partly a Hakuouki cross-over, many of the physical descriptions and some of the general concepts are taken from that particular Shinsengumi setting, to the extent that they fit in well with Fairy Tail. Fairy Tail remains the major/intended basis for this story.
Part I—Shinsengumi
Kondō Isami, Commander—the current overall leader of the Shinsengumi; Levy has seen him but rarely interacts with him; she doesn't know if he is one of the People
Sannan Keisuke, Colonel or Deputy Commander—the military and tactical advisor and second-in-command of the Shinsengumi; Levy has rarely seen him and knows little about him; he was seriously injured in battle before she arrived and has been reclusive ever since
Hijikata Toshizō, Vice Commander—the day-to-day leader of the Shinsengumi and currently the functional second-in-command; Hijikata is known for being a stern disciplinarian, which has earned him the name of "Oni no Fukuchō" (the Demon Vice Commander); Levy has met him a few times and has mixed feelings—he seems very strict, but also seems to have compassion, although he doesn't let it interfere with the efficient running of the Shinsengumi; Levy now believes him to be one of the People
Okita Sōji, First Division Captain (Dragneel Natsu)—brash, fiery-tempered and more than a little bitter; supposedly used to be a lot more cheerful and easy-going, but Levy hasn't seen much of that; he and Gajeel seem to have a semi-friendly rivalry; Dragon Clan [actual appearance: pink hair, green eyes]
Nagakura Shinpachi, Second Division Captain (Alberona Kana)—cheerful, outgoing and hard-drinking, popular with his (her) soldiers; Levy was shocked to discover that "Nagakura" is actually a woman, and wears almost as little under her illusion spell as "Nagakura" wears in general (which isn't much!); one of the People, probably one of the Yōsei (Fairies, for lack of a better translation); Levy wonders why Nagakura has a reputation for frequenting the higher-priced brothels given her actual gender
Saitō Hajime, Third Division Captain (Fullbuster Gray)—quiet, reserved and clearly one of Hijikata's most trusted officers; generally works well with others and has a good relationship with Gajeel (unknown why); has a slightly strained relationship with Okita/Natsu (unknown why); is cautious, but seems disposed to be kind to Levy; probably one of the Yōsei but may have some Oni (Demon Clan) blood (rumour only because he is a surprisingly powerful fighter for one of the Yōsei) [actual appearance is midnight blue/black hair and eyes]
Inoue Genzaborou, Sixth Division Captain—does not appear to be affiliated with the People, or maybe Levy just can't tell; seems much calmer and more normal than the others, appears older but is probably only in his early thirties
Tōdō Heisuke, Eigth Division Captain—described as generally cheerful and full of energy, but currently still under medical care following a brutal head-wound received at the Ikedaya Inn (where Levy was working in Chapter 1) during the raid; it has been implied that Heisuke (who tends to go by his first name, unlike most people) is one of the People and may have been attacked by one of the People (of the Oni/Demon Clan) at the Ikedaya; Levy has not spoken with Heisuke much because of his serious injury (also, the others seem very protective of their comrade)
Harada Sanosuke, Tenth Division Captain (Scarlet Erza)—tall and friendly, with bright red hair and superb weapon skills; clearly one of Hijikata's most trusted officers; one of the Yōsei Clan like Levy, she keeps her red hair visible because it makes it easier to distract people (by illusion) from her true appearance as a woman; PAGE [actual appearance is similar to shown appearance, but female and shorter]
Tani Mantaro, Second Division Vice-Captain (Redfox, Gajeel)—frequently fills in as captain for the other divisions when there are injuries; close friend of his roommates Yamazaki Susumu and Shimada Kai; Dragon Clan (Levy's mentor, despite having hurt her and attacked her foster-mother Keiko-san during the Ikedaya Inn raid) [only the red eyes are concealed]
Yamazaki Susumu, Inspector (Lahar)—one of the Shinsengumi's spies and internal investigators, Yamazaki is a skilled shinobi (similar to a ninja) and also the doctor/medic of the organization; currently teaching Levy magic; member of the Yōsei clan [true appearance has purple eyes]
Shimada Kai, Inspector and also Second Division Vice-Captain—as big as Gajeel and very broad, Shimada is friendly and easy-going; like Gajeel, he is often placed in whatever Division needs him most and he can lead if required; his main job is to work with Yamazaki/Lahar as a spy/investigator; he does not appear to be one of the People, but Gajeel and Lahar seem to speak freely around him so Levy assumes that he is [appearance is black hair and dark brown eyes—quite normal, just very big]
Yamato Daisuke, Page to Harada Sanosuke (Marvell, Wendy)—appears to be about thirteen or fourteen and about two inches taller than Levy; is actually a girl of fourteen and about the same height as Levy (4'8" or 4'9"—note that average height for women in Edo Japan was about 4'10"); although unspecified, Levy believes that Yamato/Wendy is a Yōsei because of her dark blue hair; Levy knows that Wendy has the ability to heal others and has learned how to fight and hit but is quite gentle
Yukimura Aki, Page to Yamazaki Susumu (and general) (Levy, former alias "Aoi" meaning blue; last name and family unknown)
Part II—Fairy Tail Guild (Post-Split)
The Split occurred when Dreyar Laxus, the grandson of then Guild Master Dreyar Makarov, successfully attacked and took control of both Fairy Tail Guild and the title of King of the small kingdom containing the Guild. Several Fae (the People) sided with Laxus-sama and some Fae were captured or killed during the brief and violent civil war; the Fae who fought hardest against Laxus-sama (and who weren't captured or killed) eventually retreated and have been in exile ever since. Quite a few are in Kyoto, as the large population makes it easy to blend in. Also, Kyoto is more or less central while still being quite some distance from Fairy Tail Guild.
Kazama Chikage (Dreyar Laxus)—blond and arrogant, Laxus does not change his appearance although he uses a bit of power so that humans find it intimidating but not especially strange; he is searching for the missing Fae of the original Fairy Tail; apparently he showed up at the battle near the Imperial Palace and may or may not have recognized Hijikata Toshizō and Gajeel as Fae (unclear—maybe not)
Amagiri Kyūju (Justine Freed)—lean with long green hair; met with Saitō Hajime (Gray) during the battle near the Imperial Palace—may or may not have identified him; also noticed Levy but likely didn't recognize her as Fae thanks to Gray; he is an Oni (Demon Clan) with very strong powers
Shiranui Kyō (?)—Harada (Erza) mentioned having met another of Laxus' allies, but Levy didn't catch any names or other comments other than the fact that Erza thinks that she may have been identified
Please leave a comment in the notes if you found this interesting or helpful!
Thanks for reading, and I’ll have the new chapter ready soon.

Bingo, Tickets, and Subscriptions
"What are you doing, Natsu?"
He kept throwing punches at the air. "Warming up, little buddy. Gotta be at the top of my game for this."
"You're warming up to play bingo?"
He kicked the air. "Oh yeah! I'm totally gonna win this year."
Happy, who was fluttering around him, only sighed. "I don't think you understand how bingo works."
Gray and Lucy just sat in the grass next to each other, watching as Natsu did his little warm up routine. In a rather soft voice, Lucy asked, "Do you think he knows that absolutely no one will be impressed with him winning bingo?"
"If he manages to actually play without screwing up his board, I'll be impressed," Gray admitted.
"What are the two of you whispering about over there?" Juvia asked from Gray's other side. Lucy only rolled her eyes before going back to her plate of food.
So far the Sakura Festival was going pretty great. Not that there had been much that could have been messed up before that point. The annual bingo match hadn't even started yet.
"Why are you so pumped up anyhow?" Erza asked as she stood off to the side, watching everyone milling around. "It's just bingo."
"You're one to talk," Gray commented. "You know as well as anyone that once it starts-"
"Well, yes, I do not enjoy losing. But I just do not know why Natsu is so intent on-"
"Didn't you guys hear what the prize is this year?" Natsu asked, glancing back at them as Happy landed on his head. "Huh?"
"Who cares?" Lucy asked with a frown. "I never win anyhow."
"It's a game of luck, Lucy," Erza told her. "It's practically in your name."
"More than you know," she mumbled.
"Tell them, Lisanna," Natsu ordered, looking at the other person gathered around.
As always, the guild had broken off into its little cliques and Lisanna easily fell into Natsu's. Her other option was sitting with her sister who was trying way too hard to look like she wasn't upset with Laxus while he tried to be seem oblivious towards her though every time she wasn't looking, his eyes fell on her. Lisanna figured she made the right choice.
"Well, the first prize is a year subscription to Sorcerer Mag-"
"What?" Lucy looked at Natsu then. "Train him harder, Happy!"
"Aye, sir." The blue cat saluted Lucy before fluttering some more around Natsu. "Come on. You can do better than that!"
"Hiya!" Natsu nearly fell when he kicked out fully and stumbled slightly. Laughing slightly, he said, "You see then, Luce? I was gonna win for you. So-"
"Did I say you could stop training?"
"Uh, Lucy," Gray mumbled. "You do know that this has no effect on bing-"
"Go run a lap or two, Natsu, to finish out your warmup," Lucy yelled at him. Nodding his head, Natsu and Happy took off. Erza frowned at Lucy.
"How is this going to help him win?"
"It's not," Lucy said as she went back to her food. "Don't get me wrong, I want him to win, but he was getting on my nerves. That'll get rid of him for awhile at least."
"It's so sweet that he wants to win something for you, Lucy," Lisanna said, grinning at the other girl. The blonde only shrugged slightly.
"Natsu's actually pretty sweet most of the time," she said, speaking nicely about her boyfriend for once. "Or at least he's sincere. Just not always too bright."
"That's one way of putting it," Erza sighed.
About ten minutes later had everyone on their feet, boards in hand, as Mira and Makarov got up to begin calling out numbers. Even though minutes ago she had been putting on a fake smile to hide the fact her and Laxus were on the outs, at the moment her grin was real. She always got excited about things like what was going on.
"I'm feeling lucky this year, Levy," Lucy heard Gajeel announce loudly from somewhere in the crowd. "So what do you want? That subscription or those tickets to the resort?"
"Either's fine with me, Gajeel. I just hope one of us win."
"I am playing too," Pantherlily assured from where he was hovering above Gajeel's head. "And I would gladly give my prize to either of you."
"Ha! With me, my cat, and my woman, there's no way we can lose," Gajeel cheered as Levy blushed slightly and shushed him.
"If I win," Happy began. "I'm not giving you anything, Lucy. I'll use the magazines as toilet paper before I give them to you."
Growling, she glared over at the blue Exceed. "I never asked you to give me anything, stupid cat!"
Natsu, who was next to her, only elbowed her gently. "Now, Luce, you're gonna have to help me out here."
'What do you mean, Natsu?" She glanced over at him with a frown.
"See the thing is…well…" Then he blushed and scratched his head. "How do I play bingo again?"
"What?" she yelled. "We play every year, Natsu! What do you mean you don't know how? How did you plan on winning me anything? Huh?"
"Now, Lucy, is this anyway to talk to a loved one?"
"I'm about to kill a loved one!"
Lisanna giggled into her palm from Natsu's other side while Erza only tuned them all out and cracked her knuckles. Play time was over, kiddies. Erza didn't care about the resort tickets (if she wanted a vacation, she'd just go on one) and Sorcerer Magazine was only of interest to her when she was being featured (she'd probably give the subscription to Lucy, seeing as Mirajane was always featured and, honesty, that rivalry wasn't fully dead). All she really wanted at the end of the day was the taste of victory. And oh, would it be sweet.
"Hey, Laxus, are you not playing?" Gray, who was standing off to the side staring down at his own board, glanced at the guy who was leaning against a tree, eyes shut, as he listened to his music.
"What's it to you, loser?"
"If you're not, then can I have your board? Double my chances?"
Juvia, who was next to him, began bouncing in excitement. "Is my Gray trying to win so he can take me on vacation?"
He only ignored her. No way though. He would be taking one of those tickets and giving the other to no one. He needed some alone time. Maybe he'd let someone cool have it. Like Erza, who would hopefully leave him alone, or have Lucy summon Loke so they could go together. He was pretty cool.
"Like I'd let you losers use my shit." Laxus snorted, opening his eyes then. Blinking for a moment in the sunlight, he reached into his pocket where he had folded up his playing board. He glanced up at where Mira was standing, willing her to make eye contact with him. She wouldn't. "I need to win this damn thing anyhow. Take my chick somewhere so she stops bitching."
"No fair," Elfman complained, overhearing that. "It's a violation of the rules! Laxus can't play! He and Mira are-"
"And you're her brother, doofus," Evergreen grumbled from next to him. "So shut up before you get yourself disqualified too. Remember, we need those resort tickets, but if you win me that subscription, it'll be just as well."
He nodded his head quickly. "Anything for you, Ever. Real men take their women places!"
Laxus snorted, turning his attention to Mirajane as she went through that year's prizes one more time before getting to the numbers.
"Twelve," was the first one she called out. Everyone was kinda pleased with that. Then she called out the next number. "Seven."
"No fair," Gajeel complained. "Two numbers in and I ain't got a single one. It's rigged!"
"Calm down, Gajeel," Levy said uneasily. "I'm sure you'll get the next-"
"Two," Mira called out as Gajeel tore his board in half.
"Gajeel," Levy complained as Lily only sighed, shaking his head.
"It's a stupid game," Gajeel yelled as Laxus only rolled his eyes. Then, focusing back in on Mira, he heard her call out another number. He eventually stopped thinking, instead just watching, as he marked the numbers on his board off.
She was actually kinda cute up there. At the very least, she was clearly in her element. Not to mention, she was wearing that new dress he got her a few weeks ago and it loved very good on her. His little she-demon. She was-
"Laxus, you have a bingo."
Turning, he glanced at Elfman before looking down at the numbers he had marked. "Oh, hey. I do."
"No fair!" Lucy dropped her board and crossed her arms. "His grandfather and girlfriend calling the numbers? Seriously?"
"Don't get so sore, Luce," Natsu said, elbowing her. "It wasn't like we were really gonna win. Besides, there's always the second prize."
"Oh, right, Natsu, I really want to go on a trip with you." Moaning, she said, "Sorcerer for a year would have been wonderful."
It wasn't until he went up to Mira and Makarov to make certain he had won that he remembered what he had won.
"Great," he mumbled as Mira gave him her fakest smile of the day. "A year of a magazine. One that you're in, Mira, that I already get for free. Great."
"Don't be ungrateful, boy," Makarov reprimanded as Gray let out a slow sigh in the crowd.
"Alright," he mumbled to himself. "Now for the real prize."
Laxus was still grumbling then, crumpling up his board as he stalked off, turning his music up while he was at it, tuning out the rest of the game. Gajeel was still raving too, which left Levy and Lily to console him, meaning neither of the three of them won. It wasn't a total loss though, because Levy felt so happy that Gajeel was so passionate about winning for her that they left early, leaving Lily behind, and heading back home. Laxus figured it was best not to mention it was less her that Gajeel was worried about and more just not losing in general. Oh well. Whatever gets another laid, he figured.
"Man, Luce, all this working out and now you want me to sit still and listen to Mirajane?" Natsu complained as he tried hard to pay attention, but honestly he was bored. How did he forget every year how boring the game was? Why couldn't they all play a fun game? Bingo was for, like, old people and children.
"You're the one that told me you wanted to win for me, idiot."
"But I thought you said you didn't want the tickets?"
"I don't. But it would still be nice, huh?"
He grinned at her when she looked at him. "Real nice. Just us-"
"Hey," Happy complained from above them. "What about me? What am I supposed to do while you're gone?"
"Starve, if we're lucky," Lucy mumbled.
It was about then that Natsu noticed something and elbowed Lucy again.
"Hey, Luce? What's it mean when the pieces on my board all line up?"
"It means that you would have won. That's the objective."
"Oh." He blinked. Then, at the top of his lungs, he called out, "I have bingo!"
"What?" Lucy looked over from her card and at his. Mirajane was bouncing in excitement there, clearly actually enthused as oppose to when Laxus won.
"So good, Natsu!" she congratulated him after looking over his card.
"Ha-ah! I told you all my warm up would help me win."
Lucy was all over her boyfriend then while everyone else began to grumbled about how silly bingo was and how they didn't want to win anyhow. Mirajane just took that as her chance to go over to Laxus and speak with him finally. When he saw her coming, he turned, giving her his back. Undeterred, she only jumped up slightly, wrapping her arms tightly around her neck so she could hang off him.
"Hey," he grumbled. "You're gonna knock me down."
"You're strong. Hold me up."
He eventually wiggled away from her, though when he turned to face her, she took to hugging him from the front.
"Mirajane-"
"I'm sorry, Laxus. You looked so lonely out in the crowd after I wasn't excited that you won and I just thought of how much I love you and how-"
"Chill out some. I'm not lonely. Just…disappointed, I guess."
She was still hugging him though and only mumbled, "Mmmm?" against his chest.
"I wanted to, you know, win you the trip tickets. And then all I got was a damn subscription to Sorcerer. It's a stupid prize."
"Lucy didn't think so."
"Who?"
Mira only sighed. "Never mind. Besides, now you get a magazine that I'm in, oh, a few times every year. Isn't that good enough?"
"Are you naked in the shots?"
"L-Laxus!"
"Then I ain't interested." He finally leaned down to nuzzle the top of her head. When she glanced up at him, he asked, "We still fighting?"
"Well," she said slowly. "You were very mean to me this morning, Laxus, about taking out the trash. It's only fair that you-"
He took one hand and pressed her head back down, against his chest. "No more talking."
Her giggled made a rumble against his chest. "Love you, Laxus," she whispered, but he only turned his music down some to hear whatever else she had to say. And if that wasn't love, he didn't know what was.
"-so much fun," Lucy was gushing to Levy, who had turned back up at the park to watch the Cherry Blossoms change colors. A much more agreeable Gajeel was walking around too, though he spent most of the night boasting to people that his cat could kill them. He got pleasure out of the little things, after all. "Just being alone. The two of us. Because you know that I love Happy, but-"
"I understand," Levy agreed as she listened to her best friend talk. "And hey, maybe you can set some time out to write a little too?"
"Oh, I hope so. I-"
"Hey, Luce."
Glancing to her left, she saw Natsu appear, the ever faithful Happy floating overhead. Clearly still excited over him winning her the tickets, she uncharacteristically found nothing to complain about with him and only threw her arms around him in a tight hug.
"Ha-ah!" Natsu laughed, hugging her back. "You're happy today."
"After you won that for me? Yes, Natsu, I-"
"About that," he said slowly before taking to scratching his head. Lucy frowned and took a step back then, releasing him.
"What?" she asked slowly as Levy looked to Happy who was smiling real big.
"Well." He kicked at the ground. "Me and Happy here were talking to Mirajane about the resort place. Turns out that they have a lotta cool stuff to do there."
"Okay," Lucy said slowly, still just watching him. "I figured as much. I-"
"And one of the things is…well…it's all you can eat, right? And they kinda serve…well…fish there. A bunch of different types of fish. And-"
"Natsu-"
"I'm taking Happy instead of you!" He tried to run then, but Lucy grabbed the back of his shirt before he could get very far. "Luce-"
"You're what?"
"It's a bonding trip," Happy defended, though he stayed well out of Lucy's reach. "Natsu and I don't ever get to be alone anymore with you around."
"Natsu and I don't ever get to be alone without you being around," Lucy corrected. "You stupid cat. How dare you try and-"
"I-I think I'm gonna…go find Gajeel," Levy said slowly before rushing off. That was a totally different kinda drama she was not down for. Besides, she needed to get Gajeel to stop boasting about Pantherlily before someone actually did take them up on an offer to fight. There were civilians around, after all. Not to mention, the trees would light soon.
"Let go, Luce," Natsu complained as she jerked him towards her. "I'm sorry, but Happy said-"
"I'm your girlfriend, Natsu. That means-"
"And I'm your best friend," Happy reminded. "Thick and thin, Natsu, when you're with me. Lucy though, she's just thick."
She released Natsu then who fell over in his haste to get away. "You stupid cat!"
"Wow," Gray mumbled as he and Juvia walked passed. "I don't think I've ever seen you in such high demand before, buddy. Maybe Happy and Lucy both have a screw lose, fighting over you."
"I couldn't careless about Natsu," Lucy raged. "I just deserve to go on that trip. Think of all I put up with, Natsu. You do all sorts of horrible things to me. You owe me this trip."
"What kinda horrible-"
"You break into my place, you eat all my food, you track your muddy shoes on my carpet, you've basically destroyed anything nice I own-"
"I'm gonna need some more examples."
"Natsu-"
A throat clearing made Lucy and Natsu look up and Happy land on the ground. Standing before them was Laxus Dreyar, big coat and all, looking none too happy. Though, Happy might add, he never looked to over thrilled. Unless Mirajane was hanging off him and even then, he might smirk a little. Maybe.
At that moment though, he looked down right pissed and when he reached into his pocket, Happy dove for cover behind Lucy.
"Protect me, Lucy," he cried. "You're big enough to be a shield!"
"You stupid-"
"Here." Laxus produced a piece of paper then, staring at Natsu. Slowly, the Salamander got to his feet.
"What is it?" he asked, frowning as he stared down at it.
"The paper for the subscription. You take it."
"Why?" Lucy asked suspiciously. "Are you-"
"A trade," Laxus grumbled, looking off. When Lucy followed his gaze, she found he was staring at Mirajane who was with her siblings, giggling at Lisanna while Elfman chatted with Evergreen. "I get those damn tickets and you get this."
"Why would I do that?" Natsu grumbled. "No way. This-"
"Look, loser, I'm doing something for my girl, so you do something for yours. She wants this over that, huh?" He glanced at Lucy who jumped when he growled, "Don't you?" at her. When she nodded her head, Laxus looked back at Natsu. "So do you wanna trade or what? 'cause-"
"Sold," Natsu said as Happy jumped out from behind Lucy.
"B-But the fish, Natsu," the Exceed complained. "Think about all the-"
"Sorry, little buddy." He patted him on the head before going to hand the sheet to Lucy. Immediately, she wrapped her arms around him. All was forgiven. "Me and you will go fishing tomorrow, huh, Happy? All day?"
"I think you love her more than me," the cat complained. "And she isn't even that cute!"
'Shut up, stupid cat!"
Laxus left them then, rolling his eyes as he stared down at the tickets Natsu had handed over. Just as the first few trees dimly lit up in a plethora of different shades and colors, he made it to Mirajane.
"Take off, babe," he mumbled in her ear as he wrapped an arm around her shoulders. Mira glanced at him before back at the trees, hardly listening. "We're going somewhere."
"Hmmm?"
Kissing the side of her head, he glanced at the trees too, but he had long grown out of interest in them. He was shocked she hadn't too.
When he showed her the tickets, she looked shocked for a moment. Then she looked around for Natsu.
"You didn't kill him, did you? Because, Laxus, if that's the case than I'm more than disappointed. I'm-"
Reaching over, he grabbed her head and pressed it once more into his chest. "Just stop talking and watch your damn trees. Then get ready for a vacation. We all know you need one."
When she glanced back up at him, he only winked with his scarred eye and she smiled before letting her head fall again.
"Love you, Laxus," she mumbled, but he only moved to take his headphones both out and place them on her ears. Then he nuzzled the top of her head with a sigh. Knowing she couldn't hear him, he mumbled the same words back to her before looking up at the trees. A giggle though made him look over at Mira's other side where Lisanna stood. His eyes widened for a moment, knowing what she had overheard, but Lisanna only put a finger to her lips, symbolizing her silence. When he nodded his head, she just giggled some more.
Because he loved Mirajane. Even though he had a hard time admitting it.

Ayesha Liveblogs Fairy Tail S2
It seems like Gray was too pretty so they decided to dress him down a bit
“Are you and Loke going out?” I mean in a manner of speaking they are bonded for life
Don’t stand him up Lucy that’s not very nice - I stand corrected he apparently doesn’t care
DON’T BE CREEPY JUVIA LET GRAY LIVE
“Would you get OUT OF HERE?” Lucy’s reaction to thinking other people like her is the same as mine
“What is this strange sensation I’m feeling?” rohypnol
Fgdfjghdkfjghkjfdkjhg IT’S A RIVALRY POTION THIS IS SO MUCH BETTER
GRAY’S GONNA TRY TO FLY OH MY GOD
“And so Lucy’s bad luck with men has crossed into a second consecutive episode”
THAT’S RIGHT YOU FIGHT THAT ARROGANT HORIZON BABY
Those boat boys are so nice constantly looking out for Lucy
Lucy.... you are a wizard.... you have spirits who can help you stave off attackers
Papa Heartlessfilia returns to be a dick to his daughter once more
“You loooove her” “Watch it or I’ll punch your face in, Cat!” that is not a no Gray
Every time Lucy is remotely in danger Gray, Natsu and Erza run like the wind to be with her she is so adored
“The uniforms aren’t all that bad if you ask me,” said Gray, in a bowtie and underpants
I can’t believe that they’re teaming up with One Direction
They didn’t exactly send the most diplomatic members of the guild
“DO NOT TOUCH” same Lucy same leave the underage girl alone Hibiki
“I’m so over the posing” “I think they’re starting to grow on me” Lucy and Gray’s snarky asides about the Backstreet Boys are giving me life
Maiden of the Sky sounds like a celestial spirit name but it seems pretty soon after the whole Loke thing to do another wizard-is-really-an-otherworldly-being and also Virgo is technically the maiden
Wendy is kind of young to have become a dragon slayer more than seven years ago how old was she when that happened like 5?
At this point it’s just like blue hair = related to Jellal
Lyon, upon seeing a bunch of adorable cartoon squirrels: What are they, Goblins?
“I’m the fastest man alive” is that so Toucan Sam
I can’t believe Jellal stopped to rob Erigor of his clothing lmao
“You’re a ventreeloquist?” Gfgkfdjhjfdkdkjghfkgl Natsu pls
Lucy has chemistry with literally everyone I mean she’s probably gonna marry Natsu but everyone she interacts with would marry her
Don’t use the enemy’s vehicle Gray he’s probably gonna take your magic away
Gray @ Lyon: Be my riding bitch
“That’s weird, why are they taking off their clothes?” Because they are ridiculous
I guess Racer isn’t so quick with monologues
What the fuck when all’s said and done Lyon wasn’t even that bad he hasn’t really hurt anyone he did not deserve to be Goku’d in Racer’s Cell attack
I gotta say though, the fact Lyon sacrified himself specifically for Gray was also very Extra like bruh you were just talking shit about how you’re not friends
“No matter the era, the ones who triumph are the rich” He’s a literal capitalist puppet
I am expecting Karen to come up based on the images of Aries and Leo in this intro so right now my best guess is that Hibiki knew Karen and when he sees Lucy’s spirits Nirvana will affect him
“I guess Evil Natsu wouldn’t be much different than Normal Natsu” Natsu is chaotic good
“He’s got plenty of info on Lucy, a newcomer to Fairy Tail, definitely easy on the eyes. He likes the whole package” GRAY’S ATTRACTION TO LUCY HAS BEEN #EXPOSED
Since Angel is a celestial wizard she probably has Aries
Oh wow my theory about Hibiki was actually very accurate I’m almost surprised
My darling girl Lucy offering her life for her spirits and giving all the Zodiac hope for a better future <33333333333
YASSSS LUCY GETS A POWER-UP I AM LOVING THIS GO HIBIKI
“Why does she look like she fought a tornado head-on?” Hate to break it to you Lucy but ur the tornado
I knew Lyon wouldn’t be gone for long that death scene was too ambiguous
“Wow Natsu, where’d you find that get-up?” said the shirtless man with patterned skinny jeans
That was a beautiful speech Jellal but why does everyone thinking killing themselves is the solution to everything like calm down for a minute
Erza is so strong she just hoisted herself and a full grown man from the edge of the tower she was dangling on
“Now, the world is doomed,” Jellal still retained his penchant for dramatics I guess
I know Jellal has made Erza’s life a living hell but also now that he’s an amnesiac I kind of want them to make out
“Stupid hot-head nearly gave me a heart attack” You’re giving him Gray hairs Natsu
Props to Fairy Tail for actually having different members win different battles like a lot of anime prefer to have most battles eventually finished off by the Chosen One but they actually do a good job of letting Natsu save his strength and usually only fight once or twice depending on the situation
I’m very concerned about why the babes are crying in the intro who is hurting them
I just want an in-character season commentary of Lucy and Gray making snarky comments about everyone they know
Is Dragon Slaying really a lost magic if Natsu knows like five dragonslayer at this point
Cobra: I’m not lonely look my best friend is with me it’s this snake
Lmao @ Natsu biting his enemies
Omg have my character commentary dreams come true Gray and Lucy have not stopped their asides
“I think it’s just cause that’s the kind of thing villains do” Gray doesn’t have any time for villainous tragic backstories
“I can’t wait to see your face as I twist your body apart” calm down Edward Speculum Hands
I LOVE IT WHEN PROTAGONISTS LIST THE FLAWS IN ENEMY ATTACKS GO ERZA
I like how Erza’s artificial eye (for all intents and purposes, a disability) is continuously portrayed as a strength rather than a weakness
So it’s sort of like Zero is to Brain as Voldemort is to Tom Riddle like neither one is good but one was perceived as charismatic and had goals and the other was like “my crazy lifeforce magic has induced albinism also I’m here to murder everyone”
IS HE SERIOUSLY GOING TO MURDER ALL THOSE PEOPLE
“What happened?” Divine intervention??
HIBIKI MY SMART BEAUTIFUL SLUTTY MESS
REN, SHERRY, LYON, HIBIKI, EVE I LOVE EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU
They weren’t crying they were rising from the ashes my babies I’m gonna physically weep
Happy looks like he’s seen into hell jfc
Jellal, swaying from side to side as he tries to walk: I’m perfectly fine
How dare you Jellal I was rooting for you
“Although I have no recollection of acting like a vile cretin, it seems that was the case” I don’t know what I love more this psyche out, Jellal holding himself accountable for actions he can’t remember, or the fact he calls himself a ‘vile cretin’
I’m proud of Jellal for sending a replacement not all characters have such foresight
“Know that whatever happens, I, Igneel, will always be proud of you” why is this dragon a better dad than Lucy’s actual dad
Amazing Gray popped out of that collapsing building like a firework
“Who’s that, another pretty boy from Blue Pegasus?” lmao I guess Lucy and Gray have never seen Jellal’s actual face
Erza confessing quietly confessing to her feelings to Jellal while pink squirrels mime their inner affection is my jam
BLOCKHEAD IS BROTHERS WITH THE CAPITALIST PUPPET THIS MAKES SO MUCH SENSE
I can’t believe Jellal’s last name is Fernandes
On one hand it makes sense that Richard and Jellal pay for their crimes but on the other hand Jellal literally can’t remember doing anything wrong and they’ve both since reformed
Gdfgjhdfkjghkfjdhg every single member of the alliance would risk their freedom not only for Jellal but for Erza’s happiness
Just OTP things: When one of them doesn’t have a name and the one goes “yes you do” and gives them one
Blue Pegasus and Fairy Tail are so ridiculous it’s great
This is deeply traumatizing for Wendy all she’s ever known was a lie
But if they were all illusions how did they make real clothing for the girls
“Sherry!” “Ren!” Does this imply not only the Lyon reciprocated Sherry’s feelings but that EVE AND REN WERE A THING
“Snakes aren’t manly enough to fly” Elfman pls
GAJEEL “I’m a dragon slayer too, when do I get my flyin’ kitty-kat, huh?” I CNA’T BREATHE
I hope Gajeel wants to be her partner I will fucking weep
Gray seems so sombre and sinister as he talks about the dragons I don’t trust this
“I’m through with Fairy Tail and I’m through with all of you” Gray is going full Sasuke what is going on
I’m crying the way they measure Gray’s realness is by how often he strips
I love Erza:
Elfman: You’re gonna need a man with you
Erza: No
Um?? Why would Gray do this??? Where is he really?? What is going on
I’m very upset about all this if Gray was going to go dark he would need the length of an entire arc to justify instead of this random garbage betrayal which is probably filler
“You can’t have Fairy Tail without Natsu. That’s not even a possibility!” That’s gay
Natsu’s inner voice: [Gray] can’t help that he’s awesome
Honestly this filler is 1/10 if they are going to have Gray and Natsu properly at odds in the future I need it to be at least 500% more homoerotic

Levy's always been one of my favorite characters, and I'm still bitter about her being reduced to a satellite character tbh. But... if you could characterize/develop her, her magic, and her relationships, what do you think you'd do? (Haha I'm sorry I want more for my relatable book girl)
May have gotten a bit carried away.
So while Levy doesn’t do well in a combat manga, she would’ve really shone if Fairy Tail had chosen to be a more adventure based manga and the cast had spent more time taking jobs.
I actually love Levy’s confident and upbeat personality from her initial characterisation, so I wouldn’t change much in the way of her character. Aside from making her less of a Satellite Character in her own ship, here are some relationships I’d establish with her:
Levy and Lucy are BFFs; Levy is Lucy’s primary enabler and is literally that one friend that just throws ideas at you, gets you interested, and then bugs you til you write them. You know the one.
Obviously, she, Jet and Droy are the BRO SQUAD. She kind of views them both as brothers and while they both have crushes on her, they’re also super respectful of her boundaries and are just great friends in general. So when Gajevy starts happening they’re On Guard for Levy’s sake, and often insist on chaperoning the two. (Gajeel has concerns that they don’t trust him, but they’d do this for literally anyone Levy was interested in, and in fact did scope out Lucy for awhile.)
Eventually they do get over her and they just go back to being the BrOT3.
Does Levy leave books and notes at their places all the time? Yes. Do they dutifully return them to her the next day? Yes.
They definitely have a rotating dinner schedule when they swap out on who cooks dinner or picks whatever restaurant they’re ending up at. They’re surprisingly domestic for not living together.
Levy is absolutely, 100% Erza’s “secret” supplier of erotic literature, and the two will often have quiet discussions about books in the corner. Erza takes these secret meetings super seriously and won’t let anyone nearby.
Cana got in on it too, and eventually so did Juvia, so most of the Fairy Hills girls just have this secret smutty fiction book club with Levy supplying The Goods. None of the boys are allowed to join - Jey and Droy are pretty jealous until Levy clues them in and then they just don’t want to know.
Incidentally, Natsu, Gray and Elfman all tried to infiltrate a club meeting once. It didn’t end well for them.
When the dust settles, Levy and Freed get on surprisingly well. I like to think they set each other challenging rune puzzles to crack and have a friendly rivalry to keep each other on their toes. (or they just play magic chess, they keep score either way)
The two have called in each other to help on various cases where two heads are better than one.
Evergreen’s part of the book club. Bickslow WANTS to be part of the book club and was allowed in one (1) time, but was promptly banned afterwards.
Levy helps Mira with the bookkeeping all the time, so the two often stay behind at the guild once everyone’s headed home to chat over hot chocolate while doing the numbers.
See, Levy will ask Lucy to summon Loke, and Loke will get super excited about spending time with a cute girl, but Levy will just spend the entire time grilling Loke about Celestial Realm history and lore for a book she’s writing. Loke’s fine with it because he gets free drinks, but… come on, Levy.
I would’ve mostly had her working on dungeon crawler quests, translating runes and solving puzzles to find awesome loot with Shadow Gear, setting them up as a treasure-hunting team. Giving Levy an interest in archaeology and magic history and really upping focus on her as a scholar makes her a more solid support character with a specific and useful field of study. This also lets her accompany the team on quests that require a translator, or because she wants to know more about certain locations!
Also, seriously: Levy getting her hands on one of Zeref’s books and cracking whatever script he used to write it, hijacking one of his demons and contracting it to her instead? Yes.
As for her magic… well, Solid Script isn’t very useful in combat. While I don’t mind Levy having linguistic magic, imagine how useful it’d be if she had a spell that could let her speak and understand every language she hears. Or if she had a Requip ability that let her store her books and notes in a pocket dimension for easy access. I’d actually love Levy having lexicons that she can cast a wide variety of spells from; she might not be the strongest mage, but she could definitely have some very unique magic. Levy’s very “squishy mage”, but honestly I don’t mind that for her - Jet and Droy can cover her while she’s casting spells anyway.
I like Levy in the early series a lot - I think the way Gajevy was written screwed her over, but there was a lot of potential there. You don’t have to be a strong fighter to be a good character, so that’s exactly what I’d go for with her.
