Ngl I'm kind of dillydallying around my own SDV fixation and i'd KILL to see what your brain is doing to this game like i for one would eat up dat stuff UP . . .
I love the way this is phrased; genuinely 😭💖 like im a force of nature tearing through any new interest like its made of wet tissue paper 💥💥💥
I thought about it some more and i will (eventually) make an sdv blog. Its going to be a mess having all my interests on one dashboard (im lazy and i dont want to sign in and out all the time for diff accounts lol) but i need sdv stuff in sight or ill explode. For now tho i will ramble about random hcs rattling around in my brain
- The valley is FULL of magic, but not alot of Magical Beings that utilize that magic. If the residents of pelican town knew more about magic, there would be alot more wizards than just. The Wizard.
- Everyone in pelican town has some kind of latent magic, or at the very least, an affinity or sensitivity to magic. I like to think that magic builds in very secluded corners of their world and the area including (and surrounding) pelican town is simply one of those places.
-(sorry, i am just obsessed with Places and Magic) I like the idea of your farmer being drawn to pelican town bc they have a bit of magic in them. The letter is just A Letter, but it is the desire to see this town that makes them leave their old life behind. I am obsessed w the idea that the magic in the farmer craves the valley bc it sees the valley as its home, and by extension, the farmer sees the valley as their home. The people of pelican town rarely leave bc the magic in them sees the valley as their home always. The biggest examples of this are Kent, Demetrius, Evelyn, Emily and Shane. The huge exceptions to this (still workin on it) are lewis and sebastian; lewis bc i see him as a normal, non-magical being trying to wrangle the weirdness of this town, and sebastian bc his feelings of isolation and not being understood propels him to crave the world outside of the valley. (That changes a bit if u befriend him/romance him)
-(shane is weird bc hes super depressed and lonely but his happiness comes from his new ‘ragtag family’ (his words) and his very Not Normal chickens. The animals of the valley love him bc he loves them and he becomes tied to the valley bc of it. Marnie has always loved the animals of the valley and some of the love they had for her definitely rubbed off onto shane, who very openly admits he loves the chickens 💙)
-I wasnt very fond of the idea of purple=magic but i think that was bc i often saw it as a way to tie-in the wizard and abigail. I am still trying to get through the friendships for everyone but rn it doesnt feel like theres any connection between them (and caroline). But. I do like the idea of odd, unnatural colors coming through bc of magic. Alex and Pierre having normal brown hair; Haley and Sam being true blondes. BUT. Shane and Jas having purple-ish hair. Emily and Caroline have blue toned hair. Even vincent have pinkish hair 🥺💖 (and dare i say….sebastian with purple/black hair like shane 👀…maybe he has more magic in him than hed like to believe). Abigail doesnt count bc from what ive seen, Caroline laments about her daughters dyed hair. “When she was younger it used to be chestnut brown” which…awww she took after her dad lol.
- LAST THING. This is not an hc i am just mad about this. I cannot believe the game doesnt allow u to befriend Marlon. What the fuck. What the fuck !!! I love him!!! I want to be friends w the chill monster slayer! Im a monster slayer too!!! Let me give him gifts !!! Fuck ! 😭😭😭💥💥💥💥 Also. I know how to write old man yaoi. They shouldve let me do a romance path for willy, clint and marlon. And the wizard i guess but someone already did that. Linus doesnt count bc hes ascended the need for human romance; hes one w nature (read. aroace). And we (linus and willy and the farmer) already co-raise leo so that counts for something i think 🤔

@aureateart ok. My favourite parts of twilight princess  (and some other random thoughts about TP sprinkled in there) taken from my monster TP word vomit google doc :
Link lmao
Ok but for real, I like this incarnation of Link :)
I love Ordon (it just seems like such a chill and cozy village)
ALSO love how easy it is to interpret Link as being a sort of older brother figure to the Ordon kiddos. It’s just,, super cute? AND GHHH nice nice good thanks nintendo for giving me characters to care about/characters that I can imagine Link caring about
He didn’t sign up for any of this (tbh, none of the Links really signed up for this jshdjsd). But I mean like, dude was just going to take a trip to castle town, drop a gift off for the royal family, and come back. But haHA oopsies he did get to castle town eventually but definitely not the way he expected hsjdhsd
He’s just a little dude?
AND FUCK. HE REALLY HAD NEVER BEEN OUTSIDE OF ORDON UNTIL ALL OF THAT
everything is new for the player AND Link
Midna
She’s cool :)
she really just
*teleports into your jail cell* hello whore.
I am no master at writing but AYYYY she do got a character arc!!!
She was actually pretty helpful sometimes, I ALWAYS checked in with her before turning to a game guide
Other NPCs
NICE
Love all of the TP character designs (ASHEI’S ARMOUR??? AOWOAOAOOAO)
Saving Zelda and all of Hyrule was important yea but thinking back maybe it was more like, the Ordonians and the kids were what was pushing Link to keep on going
I like the Resistance members :) Very video gamey of them to have one NPC assigned to each dungeon but hey!!! Kinda cool getting to see a little glimpse of each of em
Idk, it’s just fun to imagine Link popping into Telma’s bar after each dungeon and taking a little rest :) (or to celebrate? maybe just chat, idk, give this man some downtime!!)
Honestly it was just kind of nice that Link wasn’t entirely alone. I mean, I know Midna was there the whole time, but I am always for giving Link a big group of friends (see my love for hyrule warriors, age of calamity, and LU LMAO)
Hero’s shade, very very cool, kinda sad he died with regrets but HEY. He got to pass on his knowledge eventually
AND the connection to OoT?? AND assumed to be related by blood too????? GOOD SHIT
Ilia, I REALLY really wanted to like her (er, it’s not like I dislike her, she’s just,,, kinda there for me).
It definitely seems like Nintendo was pushing to make her the romantic interest, but GHHHHH they really threw that out of the window for me by having her lose her memories
I saw a text post a while ago that said it would have been interesting if Ilia was Link’s sister instead and YES!! That would have been cool too :0
Wish we got to know Zelda a little more
I feel like we barely know anything about her
Idk man, like I said earlier, I never really had any sort of drive to save Zelda during my playthroughs
She obviously knows Midna, so maybe if they gave us just a little bit more of that relationship I’d be more interested in her?
TP WORLD BUILDINGGGG
Botw has good world building too, but each race felt kinda,,, isolated? I absolutely love the different architecture and vibe each town has (and all the the weapons too) but ghhh yea everyone felt so separated. As far as I can remember, we don’t see tooo much of the races interacting with each other? Now that I’m typing that out maybe that’s to be expected because of the calamity but KLSJDKJFD ANYWAYS THIS IS ABOUT TP
The world feels nice and alive, love how populated everything is
Castle town I like castle town a lot, it feels dense and busy and I really like how you can’t talk to every NPC you see
Very cool very fun that we got to see the Gorons hanging out in multiple spots
kinda wish we got to see the Zoras a little more (I guess they are a bit limited since they need water but GHHHH the tp zoras are so prebby,,)
BUT HEY, I do remember seeing a zora or two hanging out in the hot springs around death mountain after beating the lakebed temple (I think, might have been a different dungeon)
but aaaa would have been nice to see them in at least a couple of other places. I think it would have really added to the “congrats Link!! You’re restoring peace to Hyrule” feeling you get from seeing the Gorons hanging out in Kakariko and Castle Town
ORDON
Love how chill it is and how it’s kind of separate from Hyrule proper
They really do seem to be doing their own thing apart from the rest of Hyrule
Just kinda adds onto the “he’s just a regular dude minding his own business” kind of vibes I get from TP Link
Also I like Ordona :)
THE LIGHT SPIRITS,,
Love their design
And love how they’re not exactly like a pure white?
Different spirit representing each aspect of the triforce my beloved
But yes hi I think Ordona is very cool
Who are you, how did you get here, which goddess do you represent? Do you even represent one of the three golden goddesses? Do the Ordonians know about you? Have any of them ever SEEN you??? Do they worship you? Does anybody even know about the existence of the light spirits?? FUCK so many questions but ghhh I like how they broke the status quo a bit by throwing in a fourth spirit :)
I feel like this one is kinda weird but I like that voice sample they used in the light spirit music. It’s spooky and pretty at the same time :)
cutscenes mmmmm
Ok ok, the spooky lanayru cutscene is very good
BUT THE “Link, Chosen Hero! Lend us the last of your power!” CUTSCENE MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM LOVE IT SO MUCH
IT just
Idk man
It just hit different
I like the music
And seeing the light spirits swimming around in the light juice water whatever it is
Summoning the light arrows?
AND HHHHH “Lend us the last of your power!” THIS IS IT. This is the final battle.
Seeing Zelda bow down, and then Link putting his hand out 👌👌👌
Link: ok bud, let’s do this together :)
Connection to OoT (did I already mention this? Maybe., Whatever)
Very cool nintendo :)
I love seeing connections between all the diff zelda games.
Because like, on one hand, they’re all separate from each other because of yknow, individual hero stuff. BUT ALSO, they’re all connected because of the reincarnation stuff
Grrrr walking through the sacred grove and going “The Hero of Time walked around here a long time ago” FUCK THATS SO COOL
Is the Hero’s Shade watching me? What does he think of me? DIsappointed? Proud? The Hero of Time went through HELL so this timeline didn’t have to deal with any of the shit Ganon was gonna pull with the triforce, better not fuck this UP Link!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Midlink is cute
Kinda hurts that she smashed the mirror but that was probably so Nintendo didn’t have to worry about people going “but what about the twili??????” for any of the other games LMAO
BUT ALSO LIKE SKJDKLJFJ There are some pretty massive plot holes in TP anyway so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ whatever it’s fine we’ll just use this for angst because GOD do y’all like angst
So is Shadlink
Honestly don’t know where this ship came from but it’s cute so whatever
THE MUSIC??
Love Midna’s theme and how they referenced the dark world theme from ALttP (I remember trying to learn the dark world theme on the piano and doing the Leonardo DiCaprio point meme at the little jingle I recognized from Midna’s theme)
Hyrule field theme SLAPS.
Apparently references a couple of the other over-world themes from the previous zelda games (I got this from 8-bit Music theory’s video on the over-world zelda themes, he talks about TP at around 11:40 but def recommend watching the whole video if you’re into music analysis stuff)
So there’s this bit of the Hyrule Field theme, I don’t know the official name for it but I remember seeing somewhere it being called the “at an advantage theme” since yeah, you hear it during the boss music whenever you expose their weak points. FUCKINGGG LOVE THAT. Didn’t notice it during my first playthrough, but hearing it during my second was like a little easter egg for my ears every time :)
Midna’s lament is very pretty (and fun to play on the piano)
COURAGE THEME.
I didn’t care for it too much when I started playing the game but hearing it in ZREO’s arrangement of the Hyrule Field theme literally makes me turn into a puddle of emotions. Also hearing it around and of the Ordon kids (I think it plays after Link saves Colin) AAAAAAAAAAAAA
Orchestra piece #1 and #2 HOLY SHIT????????????????
Literally, the first time I listened to those I just,,,, plugged in my headphones, volume 100, layed on the floor/against my desk and silently vibed. I don’t know what the hell it is, but those two just fit so well with TP?? I still avoid listening to them nowadays cause if I DO I definitely will get overwhelmed with the “god I love this game so FUCKING MUCH” kind of feels.
Wolf link sucks at singing
the first time I heard him howling Zelda’s Lullaby I lost my shit because LKSJLDKSGLKJFSKG god that was.,, Bad. Anyways, hearing him howl some of the songs from OoT was cute :)
TP STAFF ROLL???
VERY GOOD. IT’s like 10 minutes long and GOD do I love every single second of it. It doesn’t have the same energy as the skyward sword staff roll or the orchestra pieces but GOD does it hit good??
Nice and calm after that big exciting adventure. Maybe it would have been more fun or emotional to have a higher energy piece but it was really nice getting to sit back and watch the camera fly around Hyrule. Seeing like, the Gorons and the Zoras having a good time, the kids returning to Ordon? GOOD SHIT.
and AAAAA that end, when you hear the main Zelda theme and see Link riding off out of Faron woods on Epona… good shit. It gets you thinking, where the hell is he going? What is he doing? Off ot do more adventuring? Going to help out the resistance or something? Going to help Zelda? Or maybe he’s trying to figure out a way to restore the mirror of twilight? Whoooo knows.
hhHHHHhhh it’s just that final reminder that YES!!! YOU JUST PLAYED A ZELDA GAME. JUST ANOTHER STORY APART OF THE WHOLE EPIC OF THE ZELDA SERIES AS A WHOLE
I also want to acknowledge the instrument/samples they used for all the twili stuff.
They’re all just so unique and contrast SO well with the rest of the TP OST. LIKE FUCK!! Anytime I hear the screech from the Twilit Kargarok? Sends a shiver down my spine. I associate those sounds SO strongly with the twili realm. (Like, the same way you associate the BSHEWW VVWWMMM sounds with light sabers)
I love it so god damn much
literally any time there’s a certain sound or motif associated with something I lose my shit
Sacred grove sacred grove sacred gro-
lovely lovely lovely so much fun playing that on the piano. AND again, I did the Leonardo DiCaprio pointing meme when I heard the theme from the lost woods come in GHHHHHHHH
shoutout to TP Faron Woods for helping me study and get through all of my schoolwork
BLEGUUHHH can you tell that I really love music?
and also yea I guess TP is kinda cool too :\
IF YOU READ ALL OF THAT THANKS I GUESS

♡  notes; I PROMISE I WRITE FOR MORE GROUPS ;;; skz has just been hitting diff lately and HYUNJIN’S BEANIE WITH THE CARDIGAN/SWEATER THING IN HIS RECENT LIVE i am in love with him. okay yes enjoy!!
Tumblr media
math was undoubtedly your worst subject.
cramming for tests at four am and staring at failed homework assignments was definitely something you didn’t enjoy, flushed face hearing that you got the lowest grade of the class each and every single time. you can’t even remember the last time you got an a in a mathematics course.
the beginning of the school year was always the scariest. new faces, new teachers, and loads of “who are you?” or “tell me about yourself” prompts that you were forced to answer. stepping into your math class with a sharp exhale, your grip tightened on your binder as you saw all of the seats filled except for one, a blond boy who sat in the center of the classroom. you gave your teacher an apologetic nod before quickly moving to take your seat, setting your bag next to your foot. the boy raised his head with a soft smile, tilting his head gently. “don’t feel bad about being late,” he whispered, his smile growing as he spoke. “i had no idea where the classroom was either, your first three guesses were more than likely just as good as mine.” even though he was whispering, the boy’s voice was smooth, and his eyes sparkled with curiosity and a sense of mischief. “hyunjin,” he murmured, sticking his hand out.
a grin spread onto your lips, meeting your gaze with his and grabbing his hand with a gentle shake. “y/n. sorry for having to choose this seat, all of the others are clearly taken,” you apologized softly, yanking a notebook out of your bag as soon as you let go of his hand.
“don’t even worry about it, you’re good,” he responded, flipping his pencil between his fingers.
hyunjin was chill. he would sneak you his notes when you needed them, partner up with you on all of the projects, slip you quiz answers, anything you needed, he had.
one day, you greeted him with a grin, setting your water bottle on your desk before setting your bag down. “first question,” he started, sliding his homework towards you with a grin, “do you need this?” you shook your head proudly, reaching into your bag and pulling out a crinkled yet finished homework sheet.
“nope! i actually did it this time,” you replied, placing said sheet onto your desk.
“i’m impressed. anyway, second question,” hyunjin slid his paper back in front of him, “what do you say we meet up at the library after classes are over?” he asked, resting his cheek in the palm of his hand. you raised your eyebrow as you set your notebook on your desk, grabbing a pencil and highlighter.
“for what?” you questioned, only to hear hyunjin laugh in response.
“to study, silly.”
“oh!” your cheeks flushed a light pink, a shy smile crossing your lips. “i should have guessed that in the first place, my bad. sure, i don’t mind,” you replied, giving a soft nod and busying yourself with the notes that were displayed on the board.
the rest of the day dragged on painfully slow, all you wanted was to chill out with hyunjin in the library, no more long paragraphs and nagging teachers. by the time the bell for your final class rang, a sense of relief came over you, nearly sprinting out of the classroom and shoving whatever textbooks you had in your arms into your locker. you exhaled sharply before grabbing your math notebook, the homework assignments given for the night, and your pencil case. kicking your locker shut, you began to make your way to the library, and by the time you managed to get there, you saw hyunjin, sitting at a table in the back with the stupidest grin on his face. he waved you over with a quiet laugh that still touched your ears, growing louder as you got closer to him.
“you have a lot of stuff for such a small study session,” he teased, pulling his cell phone out of his pocket and pausing the music that was playing.
“oh, shut up. leave me alone,” you retorted playfully, flipping your notebook open with a soft giggle. hyunjin gently nudged your shoulder, offering you one of his earbuds. “what?” you question, furrowing your eyebrows.
“you don’t listen to music when you study?” hyunjin asked, comically widening his eyes.
you tsked quietly before taking the earbud from his hand, placing it into your ear before beginning to reread your extremely messy notes from class today. after about five minutes of nothing coming from the headphones, you turned to look at hyunjin, who was staring at his phone intently. “what are you doing?” you asked, setting your highlighter down with a raised eyebrow.
“making us a playlist,” he responded, causing a tinge of pink to spread on your cheeks. before you could respond, a familiar melody came trickling through the earbud, your eyes lighting up.
“this is my favorite song,” you murmured, grinning as you gently clasped your hands together, earning the brightest smile from hyunjin.
“really? i love this song,” he responded, tilting his phone towards you and letting you see all of the songs that the app had recommended.
“you guys are cute,” a voice from behind you rang out, making the both of you shift to see a boy with quite prominent freckles. “you should become a thing.”
“screw off, lix. that’s gross,” hyunjin retorted, stealing a small glance at you. you furrowed your brows and gently kicked hyunjin’s leg, earning a small smile from him. “actually?” he started, setting his cell phone down on the table and directing all of his attention to you.
“i take that back.”

Hi Annie! Could you write a soulmate au with Akaashi?
hello anon c: !! thank you for requesting this omg i really had a lot of fun writing this one lol it kinda required just slightly more creativity because i wanted to have something diff than the usual thing that people write. altho who knows this may not be as new of an idea as i think LOL
---------------
Akaashi x Reader | 3 Stages
word count: 1776
“One last thing before I go. Tell me why you hate the idea of finding your soulmate?” your friend asked you.
“I just hate the idea of someone else having so much power over me.” You explained, “I want to make decisions that are best for me and no one else. I dislike the fact that as soon as you meet them, they completely take over your whole life.
Your friend sighed, “That’s not how soulmates work.”
You and your friend were catching up in a café during your friend’s lunch break and your day off, to your dismay she had brought up the whole idea of soulmates again. It was expected of everyone to find their soulmates regardless of age, but you weren’t really a whole fan of the whole concept.
“From what I’ve seen,” you began, “that’s exactly how it works.”
“Well, you’ve never actually experienced it, so you can’t be 100% sure.” Your friend laughed, “Isn’t the whole point of a soulmate to be someone who is inherently supposed to make you a better person?”
“Why can’t I be the best person on my own?” you retorted.
Your friend rolled her eyes, “But life isn’t about going through things alone. That person is meant to help you when you’re down or teach you things you could never do on your own.” Your friend then conceded, “Whatever. I give up for now. But I can’t wait for you to meet them.”
“I can wait.” You smirked, “I already feel lucky that I haven’t come across that person yet.”
Your friend sighed, “I don’t feel as lucky as you do. It seems like most people from our high school has met their soulmate. I thought I would’ve already met mine by now. I’ve experienced what I thought were 2 out of the 3 stages to finding your soulmate with some people a couple of times, but the last stage never came.”
“It is strange that we haven’t met our soulmate yet. They’re supposed to be in close proximity to us since that’ll increase the chances of meeting them.” You continued, “The whole ‘stages to finding your soulmate’ thing is odd. I think I’ve only experienced stage 1 when I was around met a stranger once.”
Your friend went wide eyed, “Only once?!”
You shrugged and kept talking, “The first stage is a chill running through your body.” You tried to recall the stages in your head, “The second is the something with the flu?”
Your friend rolled her eyes, “You get an allergic reaction from the sudden shock of meeting that person.”
“That.” You laughed, “I completely forgot the third one. Remind me, please.”
“I think it’s more of a mental thing, rather than physical. They say that your world just gets brighter, and you feel overall lighter.” You friend explained.
“Well, how are you supposed to know the difference? It could just be a really sunny day.” You replied.
“Nope.” Your friend shook her head, “They say this is the most obvious stage. There’s no way you could confuse it for anything else in the world. If you could, then so many people wouldn’t even know they’ve met their special person.”
You chuckled, “I feel like I can get all three stages just by drinking. Maybe alcohol is my soulmate?”
“If only it were that easy.” Your friend checked her watch, “I really should get going. My lunch break is nearly over!”
You waved good bye to your friend and also figured it was time for you to leave. When you left the café, you felt a sudden breeze hit your face. This spring was a little chillier than most. You turned to your left and immediately ran into someone causing their ice-cold drink to spill all over the both of you. The drink’s ice cubes got caught in your shirt, and it made your whole body shiver.
You cursed at yourself for not being more careful while shaking your shirt to let the ice cubes free. You looked to see who the person was and saw a tall wavy-haired man, looking at you wide eyed. He immediately bowed, “I’m so sorry.”
You saw that his shirt was completely drenched from the collision as well and laughed, “It’s fine. I shouldn’t have been so distracted.”
He grabbed a handkerchief from his pocket and handed it to you. You gratefully took it and used it to blot your shirt. He offered, “I can pay for you to get your shirt dry cleaned!”
While drying your shirt, you chuckled, “It’s really fine! I don’t really care about this shirt much anyways.”
“If anything, I’ll treat you out to a meal.” He offered, “I’m Akaashi Keiji.”
You smiled and introduced yourself. Once you were able to take dry yourself as well as you could, you got a better look at him. You immediately thought that he was actually quite attractive. You smiled at him, “I could go for a meal.”
“We should probably both go home and change first, though.” He suggested, “Are you free later tonight?”
“Actually, yeah. Today, I’m off from work.” You admitted
The two of you traded numbers and then headed your separate ways.
Akaashi found himself doing peculiar things today. He’d never order an iced coffee, yet today he felt like it. Then after literally running into you and spilling an ice-cold drink over the both of you, he asked you out on a date.
Once Akaashi reached his apartment, he showered and changed into clean, non-sticky clothing. He checked his phone, and he saw a text. It was from you. He smiled and then suggested a casual restaurant for the meal. You quickly replied and agreed through the text message.
When he finally reached the meeting place, he saw you sitting at a table already, looking outside the window. Your head was propped up on your hand, and you were smiling. Without saying anything, he sat across from you and asked, “What are you looking at?”
You jumped at what seemed like a sudden arrival and laughed, “You scared me!”
“Sorry,” Akaashi smirked, “But what are you looking at?”
You smiled and looked outside again, “I was thinking how pretty the cherry blossoms are this year.”
Akaashi followed you line of vision and saw nearly everything decorated with cherry blossom petals, “I didn’t realize it this year, to be honest, but you’re right.”
“If you find yourself too busy to look around you, you might miss out on something important.” You replied with a grin.
“I have a bad habit of getting too into my head.” He awkwardly chuckled, “It’s definitely something I should fix.”
‘’That’s probably the exact opposite of me. I get too distracted by everything around me.” You admitted, “It’s probably why we ran into each other earlier today. I was too distracted thinking about the weather and how it’s a colder spring than normal.”
“Well, I guess we can level each other out.” Akaashi joked.
You grinned, “If that’s how it works!”
You both ordered, and the food soon came out. You found out that the two of you lived very opposite lives. He was in the world of business, and you were more in the creative line of work. But, that didn’t mean you didn’t get along. Since the two of you lived very different lives, it was fun hearing each other’s perspectives of the world. The two of you genuinely enjoyed each other company. The conversation flowed easily, but when it was quiet, it wasn’t uncomfortable. When the two of you finished eating, Akaashi offered to walk you to the train station. On the way there, the two of you walked through a path surrounded by the cherry blossoms. It was windier than usual, and Akaashi stuck his pockets in his hands, “You were right about spring this year. It’s a little colder than past years.”
“Right?” you agreed, “Although, the wind decorates everything with flower petals, so you can’t completely hate it.”
“It has been triggering my allergies a bit though.” Akaashi sniffed.
“But, that’s just what spring is!” you grabbed a packet of tissues from your bag and passed it to Akaashi.
As soon as you passed him the packet, you sneezed. Akaashi looked at you and then smirked, “Are you sure you don’t need it more than me?”
You gave a playful glare, “Just hand me a tissue, please.”
Once the two of you reached the station, you looked at Akaashi, “Well, I guess this is it.”
“Does it have to be?” Akaashi asked.
Your cheeks turned red, and you could feel your heartbeat beat faster. However, you immediately stopped yourself. You took a deep breath, “Are you sure we should be doing this?”
He was confused, “What do you mean?”
“This.” You pointed back and forth at the both of you, “Have you met your soulmate?”
“I-I haven’t.” he admitted.
“I just don’t want to be left behind if you ever do.” You looked down, “I like you, Akaashi, but I’m scared. You have to have realized it by now, but we aren’t each other’s soulmate. Let’s say things work out between us—heck, what if we last a long time? But the moment one of us finds our soulmate, one of us would have to leave the other. Do you really want to go through that?”
Akaashi creased his eyebrows, “Why can’t we just try?”
“I don’t want to waste your time.” You replied.
Before he could say anything, you started to walk away. But Akaashi wasn’t going to give up, and he reached out for your hand. When his fingertips touched yours, there was a bright flash of light. It blinded the both of you for a moment. When you could finally see again, everything was different. Everything was… vivid. You looked at Akaashi, and even he looked different. He was brighter. In fact, it felt like he was the source of all the light in your vision. You looked at him and asked, “D-did you—”
“Feel that?” he finished your sentence.
“Does that mean… we’re soulmates?” You hesitated, “But we didn’t even go through the stages!”
Akaashi started to list them, “Number one, a chill.”
You felt your eyes widen, “The spilled drink.”
“Two, allergic reaction.” He continued.
“Cherry blossoms.” Your shoulders dropped.
You suddenly burst out laughing, “What the heck? Have you ever heard of a soulmate encounter like that before? I’ve never heard of such a convoluted way of going through the stages.”
Akaashi felt his heart warm at the site of your smile, “Nope, but… I can’t say that I hate it.”
You faced him and admitted, “I was always scared that I’d meet my soulmate and find out that they be a terrible match for me.” You grabbed his hand, “But I guess, there wasn’t anything to be scared of.”
He smiled at the sight of your intertwined hands, “I just hope that I can make you feel that way for the rest of your life.”

dang, that Madagascar RP sounded amazing to play in... shame the cool ones die so young. ;w; speaking of, what do U think of rps that have a set amount of words U need to type? like, say, 200 or 500 or whatever? trying to think if my own RP should have it or not,,, i can see how they could work, but at the same time, if some1 doesn't want to write a lot of words, it could become pointless ? curious to hear your thoughts!
Now, before I say anything, let me say that everyone has their own needs and wants in RP land and that’s 100% okay. Also long post is LONG
tl;dr: I like wordcounts fine and having admined before I have some specific ideas about doing so
I got my start on a very, very lax board. No wordcount, not even a character app. In 2007 I don’t even know if there were RPs that used apps. You just joined as a kit in whatever Clan and you increased in rank by how many posts you made. Very informal, very chill, high turnover.
Eventually I grew enough as a writer that I began to find this level of RP was becoming boring. I felt like I was investing more of my time/effort in replies and not getting anywhere near as much in return. At that time, ~2009-10 I was in a Big Mood and writing 700-800 words on average with a limited amount of characters, maybe 5 max.
So when I began seeking out different RPs I found they came with required applications and wordcounts. In later years claim boards, point counts, templates, etc were also added. It’s a lot to deal with, which definitely limits appeal, thus lowering how many people will join and stick with your site. However, the people who do stay tend to be very loyal, very invested, and have large numbers of characters each.
Over the years I’ve pretty much found my niche, which is I won’t join no-limit boards or boards with under 200 min requirements, but I also won’t join boards where you’re expected to average 1000 or so words per post. I COULD do that, if I wanted to, but it would take me an hour at the least and sometimes there’s only so much you can add to a post about hunting.
If I started my own RP in this day and age this is what I’d do:
Small character app. Mostly just want to establish NPC characters needed, former mentors, which relatives are PCs, basic appearance and personality. NOTHING longer than 2k really I don’t need an entire life history
Traditional naming system bc duh, I’ve invested time in this ofc I’m gonna use it
Rank increases by post count. This was my favorite thing back in the early days. It was so simple, and easier/more dependable than going off completed threads (bc they get dropped/ppl leave so often). It was also an in-universe plot point bc it would manufacture litters where they didn’t all graduate at the same times, like in early canon
Character limits. Probably around 6 or so, allowing for one chara per Clan (in a 4 clan system) and then an extra rogue/kittypet slot and a kit adopt slot. This both keeps people from spreading themselves too thin and also encourages people to kill off their warriors at reasonable ages (if they really want a new kit they will have to give up a current chara)
~500 wordcount. POSSIBLY with bonuses for going over by at least a hundred
Restrictions on high positions! These are normally played by admins, who are busy with admin stuff and sometimes aren’t as active as I feel they ought to be (I’ve been guilty of this myself). Admins get ONE high position. Actually maybe everyone only gets one high position, to keep opportunities more open for everyone. (That’d be up to 16 diff ppl if all MCs had apprentices.) Leaders are expected to die at a reasonable rate, and to account for this I would have the starting leaders begin with different numbers of lives left.
Accurate genetics, kit randomizers bc I love those and I’m good (enough) at genetics to crank a full litter out in a sitting if I wanted to
Specific medicine cat plot/posting requirements. So many times I see MCs fade into the background or their players leave bc there’s nothing for them to do if they’re not allowed their own plots. Cats should be getting sick and injured constantly bc that’s life, and there’s no reason to keep these relatively minor plots out of commission
Leaders get more autonomy in assigning apprentice-mentor pairs AS LONG AS they make these decisions in-character (people can, ofc, request mentors for their own plot points)
Randomized mini plots/mini events. This is probably the most taxing and time-consuming part of running an RP outside of moving a large overarching Plot. Admins HAVE to be know their limits and not promise too much, unfulfilled promises are a HUGE board killer. But done well, random events are SO FUN and also I would give bonuses to people who volunteer to kill their charas for the sake of realism.
Technically you don’t exactly need a Big Plot if you can do enough smaller ones to keep people entertained. There’s a big appeal in letting people just create their own smaller dramas and live out their characters’ full lives. Sometimes your players can even come up with ideas for what can become a Big Plot, and by then pretty much everyone is already on board with it, bc it came from them, organically, rather than being imposed from Above

Leh’d - lifetime experience !!
Not sure, how this fascination started. But I can say, probably from one of my friend’s fascination (Preeti) and dream to visit the place. The talks and the mentions, probably took me to further delve this place and the whereabouts. And the subsequent mentions and encounters in pictures and stories by many, who had had the experience, added to the “connect” and to the “want” to be there. Probably, was also able to infuse the same want in my co-partner (that excitement in eyes). This is first significant requisite for any successful trip, the connect of thoughts and excitement.
Tumblr media
“Acclimatisation” is another significant word for this trip. Specially because, the trip involves high altitude travels mostly, and therefore are the places, with low pressure and oxygen levels. Do take this part carefully, specially when you have not been to such altitudes earlier to this. Leh is typically at a height of 11,480 feet. As an alternate to spending a day in acclimatisation being in Leh, people also travel this height via Road, so that the ascend is gradual and acclimatise. Travel to Leh, by flight would generally mean an abrupt change for the body to adapt (temperature, air pressure, low oxygen levels). But in all, it would be suggestive to take first few days a little cautiously and supporting your body adaptations. We could avoid medicines completely, with no problems (had a minor headache in beginning), by relaxing and using camphor (initially).
Tumblr media
Ladakh is called “land of high passes”. Two of its major cities are - Leh and Kargil (Leh being largest city). This is also the reason, that the tours are generally categorised as “Leh-Ladakh” and “Kargil-Ladakh”. Leh being on the eastern side of the J&K, is sparsely populated and has more of the raw and natural sites. Leh also has some of highest passes, and the ones that we traversed were - Khardungla (by label - 18380ft), Changla (by label-17688ft), Tangla (by label -17582ft). There seems to be some changes in the heights of these passes (not sure, if the passes elevation has altered over the period of time). But we could see snow at all these passes more or less, Khardungla had the maximum.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Leh having 77% buddhists, also has lots and lots of monasteries and stupas. Nature was untouched and unbounded, places were untainted, weather was cool and serene, people were welcoming. Everything seemed to go well in sync with each other. May be this is why “Nature” is raw as yet, and offers protection to the mankind.
Tumblr media
“Julley” is the Ladakhi-term, which stands for “welcome”, “thank you”, “hello”, “bye” (and many more), and can definitely get you a connect with the people around. “Julley boards” can be witnessed at many places.
Tumblr media
Our visit was end of September 2017, when it is said to be relatively off for travel to Ladakh. However, Ladakh is open for tourism year around, but peak season being June-Aug. Peak season are relatively crowded everywhere, but weather is majorly predictable, and climate would be normal-to-cool. September end to October, as temperature drops to minuses in night in some parts, camps are generally on the pack-up mode. Camps close end of Oct, after that, weather is really too cold to withstand in camps. Also, getting water in camps was a fight (glacier water supply) and maintaining food and supply in camps were challenging even in September, as most of them would come from Leh and water in streams were observed frozen in nights and early mornings. Nature seemed to favour us, by not being bad/challenging in day time, but was freezing at nights. Pangong and Tsomoriri were really cold-worse in camps at night. But this would go for a toss, when the sun unveils the beauty and normalises temperature. Next was to get started with the new vigour, and to be in Nature’s lap again. Mankind seemed Alien in Mountain’s territory, as for miles, there was no one you could see, until you get some village or junction (an advantage of September visit). Mountains would be your all time companion.
Tumblr media
Nature’s beauty has no bounds here. With each day passing and horizon expanding, you will have new flavours unveiled. After 3-4 days, we thought we may have alike ahead, but to our surprise till the end of the trip, we never had a chance to say so. Each day, each view was different, and beautiful. Sometimes, it was the feeling that “two eyes aren’t sufficient”. The same spot, when seen in the early morning, or in the setting sun light, has very different feeling and expression. This is also one of the reason, why Leh is also being travelled in different seasons. “Weather” and “Season” are yet another variables in deciding the version of nature’s beauty for you, in Leh and around.
Tumblr media
Weather is also said to be very unpredictable here. The trip though planned well in advance, might still have its own challenges. Because, this is solely “nature’s premises and is hence governed by “nature”. As understood from travellers and guide, one should while travelling to Leh be prepared with a second plan, and should talk about the same with the travel-planner/driver. So that, when weather is not favourable on one track, one can opt other track. Even at times, no other plan works (one should be prepared for).
“magnificent“, “grand”, “mammoth“, “gigantic”, etc. is not sufficient to explain the massiveness of Nature. Be it mountains, plains, rivers, basins, whatsoever, seemed unparalleled. They were amazingly standing and embracing the spectators. Everything seemed to be exactly must there. Chilling breezes, but then there was really hot direct sun-rays balancing the climate. Water was freezing cold - be it river, rivulets, streams, lakes - seemed protecting itself from mankind, for not polluting it.
Another striking aspect of this place is, you get to see “sand-dunes”, “rivers”, “magnificent lakes”, “rivulets and streams”, “falls”, “rock-mountains”, “grand river basins”, “confluences”, “snow capped peaks and mountains”, “sunset beauty”, “sunrise beauty” all at one place. It is difficult to comprehend the beauty and more than it, the grand-ness of the nature. There seemed to be no unknown, hence no fear with the grand Nature here. From the lowest bottom till the top of the mountains, all scars to all the ridges, everything was visible, nothing hidden. It seemed, it knew about its enormousness, but stayed humble and inviting. Never did it try to threaten. It seemed teaching the aspect, “grow but be humble”, and at the same time making us realise “our position to its magnificent look”.
Tumblr media
Not sure, how much nature has to convey to mankind, and how much we understand. But definitely, we can learn a lot.
Sun’s brightness and smiling faces, seemed adding colours to the whole Leh, and would tempt people to visit and learn from nature and inhabitants.
This was my version of “Being Leh’d”. I hope, you would find your version soon, in your next/first visit.
Details of the travel, are added below for your reference. Hope you find it useful.
:: Travel Info & Suggestion/s ::
Travelled Date : Sep 23rd 2017 - Oct 1st 2017.
Travel Planner (Co-ordinator) : Float & Fly (Brinda)
Weather (actuals) : Rained and cloudy (Sep 23rd) + Bright and Sunny all along (until Oct 1st).
General suggestions / Things to carry :
Acclimatisation is must (to ensure, your trip is not spoilt by your illness). Take less of physical strains, eat less, sleep more, drink water more, walk slowly.
Camphor (कपूर) - inhale at places of short-breathe and places of discomfort.
Carry water bottle cartons, in your vehicle. Consume more water (but, little at a time).
Sunglasses (with UV protection).
Body lotion (shields body from cold)
UV protection lotions (sun is really direct and harsh to tan). This would minimise the effects. But do not worry much, instead enjoy the nature and sun, tan can be worked out later to the trip.
Medicine Box (general medicines - vomiting, stomach ache, stomach upset, head-ache).
Glucose/ORS - just to ensure, you have mechanism to drink and hydrate your body.
Eat light, as you have to be nomadic mostly (pack-travel-unpack-sleep type).
Food options are good generally in Leh, and around (vegetarian-wise). In September end, there is no much rush, and therefore you can take halt, for your lunch and teas. break-fast and dinners will be mostly in the hotels/camps. Other seasons are reported to have really big jams and huge traffic (roads are mostly single lane, and bridges “one vehicle at a time” type).
“Toilets available here” are as special facility there, and not available everywhere. Do take care of this, specially when travelling with family.
Music suggestion - light ones, with low volume. This is something person/group-specific. However, to enjoy and connect to the nature, in its very form - listening to all sounds and surroundings, is a must. But this is, ones choice purely.
Some cuisines you can rely on - momos+chutney, veg-fried-rice, chowmein, rice-rajma, aloo-parathey, poori-sabji, maggie(plain boiled generally), onion pakaudey. Curd is little rare, mostly. But generally, north-food dishes are well prepared here and tastes well.
Language spoken - natives understand and talk in “hindi” mostly (probably all). They have however, their native language as “Laddakhi”.
People are generally, welcoming, nice and humble. You get response when you wave hands, the smile you exchange (kids to age-old people).
Food to carry - you can keep some eatable (maggie, soups, nuts, etc.). Generally, you can use them for munching while travelling, or mostly in evenings. However, you can keep this section a little lighter while packing. As much of the eatable you would need, you can get in Leh itself, than to carry from your place (no much diff in prices).
Visit Leh-Market - walnuts, dried-apricots (dark coloured ones are good in taste, than the bright coloured ones. both with seeds and seedless), dried-apples (ones sold by villagers on way), apricots, apples (mongol specially), buddhist prayer flags, shawls/stole/mufflers, ladakh  etc. are some of the things you would like to try.
Leh-berry-juice : Could not get the leh-berry juice, when we visited. But could see lot of the berries, while travelling. Tastes a little bitter. But generally is being processed from outside Leh and is then brought back for selling. You can try those on outlets.
Take Ladakh Tourism Book/Map - book-store in Leh-Market. Good to know about the place and the culture, beyond what you see and is understood from guide.
Camera - to capture some of those shots (though I felt, either you can live or you can capture, many a times).
Hall of Fame - near to Leh - must visit place with kids and family. However, my suggestion would be, please do not visit as a picnic spot or visiting spot, capturing pics and selfies engrossed. It’s a place of “feeling” and “braves-memorial”. Artefacts well preserved and maintained. The emotions and the feelings needs to be felt and conveyed properly to the kids and youngsters and even us. “Salute to the Nation’s Army”, place of nation connect.
Wildlife - be open and observatory while road travels. You can see many just around. We could see many birds (Magpie, doves, black-necked crane, gulls, etc.), Yaks, Horses, wild ass, marmot, double humped camel (Nubra sand dunes), pashmina sheep.
Flowers - you can see many on the way and in hotels/camps. Very peculiar and beautiful bright ones.
Departure from Leh (Airport) - there are some specific rules to be followed, while carrying the check-in and hand-bags from Leh. Read a little before, and pack accordingly, to avoid last minute panics.
Travel unions in Leh, do not allow/permit vehicles (yellow board) from outside Leh. Private (white board) vehicles are allowed though. Even the vehicle from Leh not permitted for sightseeing in Kargil and vice-versa. This is to keep check and regulate the vehicle movements, on tourism front. Also, since tourism is the major source of income for people here.
Suggested to be cautious while capturing pictures or videos, so that nation’s privacy is not compromised on the name of sightseeing. Place is sensitive, primarily because of being Border area. But is serene in all. You will definitely find the same connect as rest of India - places, people, culture. :)
