Yeah so as expected, it seems like first quantum minerals will be taking the panamanian government to an international court now (arbitration will apparently take place in florida).

I guess there's nothing panama can do at this point but just present our case and hope they don't win, but honestly it's making me angry. I can't even tell you guys how shady this company is.... They did so much illegal shit and covered it up, but bc they have so much money and power/influence nearly every news outlet in other countries is like "well the company denied those allegations" and leaves it at that.

I also want to add that they did something really similar in the congo, where the DRC government revoked a contract and forced FQM out bc they had breached it's terms SO many times. They also left the congo completely in ruins with massive amounts of pollution and damage to the land (which is exactly what they want to do to us here, and would have if we hadn't fought against it and managed to win), and contributed massively to the situation going on in the congo right now too. Not to mention how much damage they were ALREADY doing here in panama, like the locals have been getting sick for years and the water supply is already poisoned in the region where their mine is.

And it still seems like barely anybody in canada has a clue this is all going on??? It sucks knowing I don't have a big enough platform to bring more international awareness to all this myself, but I also am not good at writing and putting things into words lmao.

But anyway... now that they can't tell photographers to go away, we have more pictures of the mine itself (as it is right now) and it really is enormous already. Like knowing how much more it was going to expand is insane, and right in the middle of a rainforest literally full of endangered animals. It's still such a relief to know this was stopped for good even though its pissing me off how they won't even leave without trying to suck as much money as possible out this country and hurt us as much as possible in the process.

As an Ashkenazi with solely european ancestry, I do consider myself white because, while a couple of my family members are racially ambiguous, I think it's fair to acknowledge that, as far as the racial framework of the US where I live, I am viewed and treated as a white person. This in itself makes me white for all purposes. Therefore I consider myself a white ashkenazi, with the white label being most relevant to my position in society. It may be worth noting that I am not very visibly jewish.

I understand your point, however just because others view you as white doesn't mean you're white. There are plenty of people part of a racial or ethnic minority who are white-passing but this doesn't mean they are actually white. It's important to point out that it's only within the last 50 years or so that Jews are thought of as white (during Jim Crow we were classified as "yellow eurasians" and were also redlined, there's a reason why many jewish communities are right next to other minority communities in cities), and that idea is primarily an American one due to the prevalence of Ashkenazi immigration following the Shoah. The American racial divide is on a black/white binary, while much of the rest of the world is on an east/west divide. As is evident, Jews don't fit in the American binary and neither do plenty of other groups.

Some Jews who do not wear cultural identifiers and do not have stereotypical identifying features can pass as white, and thus benefit from the privileges that come with that. However, that is not the case for many Jews, so there are difficulties in categorizing us.

I'm not necessarily saying being Jewish is its own race, nor am I dismissing that idea (I'm fine with however individual Jews define themselves, I know plenty of people who believe either one), I'm just saying that Jews don't fit into the American concept of whiteness or the black/white binary, due mainly to the unique prejudices we face.

personally hate the push from people outside of ones system to make their fictives apologize for source actions. like that is None of your business and you should stay out of it bc you dont know them and fictives are not their source.

it was so clear esc this year was rigged in favor of loreen the moment they said she couldnt have the 1 ton screen from her performance at the melodifestivalen bc it was too heavy so they were gonna have to change the performance but then she still showed up to the semi with the goddamn screen over her lwhile everyone else (*cough* portugal) had to compromise like it’s clear they were always playing favorites also i think we should just abolish the jury vote at this point let the people decide

I love being plural. Oh, how i love being plural!

I love it, and all it's struggles. It is not to say to be plural does not hurt. That it cannot be torture or agony. Like it isnt sometimes the most woeful, painful part of my life sometimes.

When is anything permanent, at any point? The trauma slowed down. It will never fully stop, as life itself is designed to tear a soul apart, i do fully believe it cannot end. However, i will dance with glee at the opportunity to feel pain. To live, and to feel and to breathe. My gratitude has saved me.

I now thank my system for being my soul, for being as alive as it is and for continuing to fluctuate. I thank it for its confusing complexity and the secrets it keeps. Thank you for being as loving and daring and sometimes cruel as you are. For your differences and relations and your stories and lives. You make me Me and complete Micheal.

I love my system, my system was with me and helped me survive life. And now we are out to share one we're building together.
