a very interesting (and endearing, at least to me) detail about jean's character is how he tends to fix himself during a confrontation. (long post ahead)

despite the fact he looks just fine, he does it to self-soothe more than anything, because he knows he has no control over the situation. so if he can't get through harry, at least he's in control of how he looks. and he can look BETTER, more put together than harry, so he makes sure to show him that. every time.

constantly readjusting, correcting, dusting himself off every time he's confronting his former partner because i think he has a severe inferiority complex (since harry outranks him and refuses to accept any promotion, which makes jean perpetually stuck as a satellite-officer, tied to a self-destructive man who's also good at what he does + harry has had a chance at a love that's so redeeming that he pictures her as the game's equivalent of God, a love that jean desperately yearns for so he hates harry for blowing it, and hates himself for never finding such a love despite the fact he's more put together than harry, or so he claims) that flares up every time harry's in the vicinity. i don't think jean has problems asserting himself when harry's not around, though. we've seen that here.

jean's perfectly capable of being authoritative, and has power over his colleagues, contrary to popular belief on this website. of course, provided harry's not there.

because he'll start slipping every time. his body language is also incredibly stiff, i'm assuming it's to seem like he's composed, but that falls apart when you notice how many times he struggles with his breathing, how many times he has to collect himself.

naturally, since kim also outranks him, jean behaves the same way with him although less emotional. he loses the spite, turns a little more submissive, though his pride doesn't completely disappear, like authority indicates. i also believe it's because kim didn't address him properly, therefore jean didn't feel the need to extend more than basic respect towards him.

it's very interesting to see, since he seems to have this ongoing inner conflict between his pride and his self-hatred. believing he's better than harry, yet crumbling at his presence. laying down and taking it, then suddenly revolting. being in control until the reason you're forced to take control shows up, then suddenly you're not in control anymore and you have to fix your hair and your tie and dust your suit and cough to look like you have your shit together. to prove that you're better. jean's trying to tell harry that he's BETTER than him! that's why he does all of that shit! he's terrified of ending up like that! he's even more terrified of the fact that despite being the mess he is, harry IS better than him! HELLO!

Anyways, Danny is a young Aerospace Welder and Engineer, and lives on the Intergalactic Emergency Sub-Station: a company, and space station dedicated to preserving life and safe travel through the cosmos. When she’s not traveling with other crews as an on-call engineer for dangerous voyages, Danny is dispatched across worlds to complete maintenance checkups on passing ships and other space stations.

Personally, Danny is a flexible, relaxed young woman with a steady hand and a quick mind. She loves her job, and she’s not working or napping, she enjoys dancing and debating silly questions like weather there are more wheels or doors in the world (she will always say wheels). She isn’t put on the front lines often, considering her lack of supernatural abilities, but her cunning and resourcefulness always keeps her opponents guessing. Her favorite drink is Horchata!

this is such a good question that the answer gets its own entire post!!!!! im gonna try to distill it for u as best i can here goes

very much colored by what team u were a fan of if u were like me and in maincord. because a) teams had different cultures / lore / players / etc and b) they also had different stuff happen to them. however everyone did experience the same plot

it was something you could open any hour of the day :) like if i was bored at 3am i could just open blaseball (provided games were running)

you ALWAYS had questions. there were not answers for 75% of them. sometimes it was because the question was never designed to be answered in the first place. other times it was because we just LITERALLY did not know. also, out of the 25% of the questions we DID have answers for, 10 of those percents required you to make a spreadsheet to answer it, and 5 of those percents required you to seek out a specific guy who can answer it for u. the rest could mostly be answered by going into maincord and asking. but crucially the only way to determine which of these a question was was asking anyway.

it was basically like if fantasy football was both. an arg and massively multiplayer and also fucking insane. we were making choices having no idea what anything did and i cannot tell you how many monkeys paw situations there were. we were straight guessing up in that bitch

bits were everything in the discord. goku got incinerated once. there was a bee wedding. my team (the fridays) suckered the mods into giving us a second emoji once. bits got beaten like winnie hess after season 24 day 3 (a dead horse). it was incredible

THE FAN MUSIC SCENE WAS THE BEST THING EVER. like i think blaseball was probably the SINGLE best fan culture in terms of fan music ever created. it was really, really, really absurdly popular, moreso i would say than fanfic

loring players was so fun everyones ideas were so different and cool. most players were queer it was super fun. VERY VERY queer space and very awesome. it was fantastic in that regard

Laurance is an unreasonably powerful Shadow Knight. Gene says so himself, claiming he would kill Laurance but he is so powerful it would be a shame to waste that potential. Additionally, it seems the only reason Laurance is the one in charge of the Nether Rebellion is because he bested Zenix in a fight. Which is Absurd because not only has Zenix been a shadow knight MUCH longer than Laurance (all the years prior + 15 year gap), he's been a shadow knight for a larger portion of his life (implied to have been transformed as a child), AND Zenix has absorbed Several other shadow knights to increase his power, AND Laurance, once again, hasn't even completed his full transformation!!!

the goldfinch is so fascinating to me because everything in it is about grief, with his sexuality as a subsection, another core tenant, that centers around (as i believe) the fact that he can't tell his mother about it. and the painting is grief and love itself! the painting represents that moment before his mother died, and he literally put it away and took it out only for boris while blackout drunk, that chunk of his heart, the source of all his pain, and boris thought i want that enough to take it. also the goldfinch is about drugs and a small dog.

God, I can't stop thinking about that one particular moment from episode 5 where Junmo reaches his hand out to Gicheol after getting slashed on the back. It's such a natural reaction too, Junmo is not acting here. He's genuinely got caught off-guard by that attack, bleeding profusely all over—his first instinct was to reach out to the man in front of him. And Gicheol is horrified and manic and fucking livid all at the same time, pulling Junmo gently to his side with one hand while the other empties his handgun into the bastard who dared to attack his right hand man. It's such a surreal moment.

This entire scene is masterfully done, especially from Junmo's perspective. He wanted to tag along Gicheol to know about the "fishing" deal, but he couldn't have anticipated this attack. It wasn't like the last time they had to fight together between just the two of them, when Junmo had orchestrated the whole thing just to gain Gicheol's trust. There was no actual threat to his own safety then.

But that was not the case here. Junmo's thrown into this bloodbath simply by his association to Gicheol, with a very real possibility of dying there. He could've abandoned Gicheol, abandoned the entire goddamn operation because fuck it, he's got an entire life ahead of him. He's got a wife he loves so much and the prospective of having a family with her. So why should he throw all of that away for a 2-rank promotion that may or may not even come, if the corrupt police system is anything to go by??

Yet, despite everything, Junmo stays. He stays and fights for Gicheol, saves his life and almost dies doing so. Sure, he might justify it later (mostly to himself) that it was all for the mission, because Gicheol was more useful to them alive than dead.

But in the heat of the moment, Junmo couldn't have been bothered to put up that mask. He wasn't "Seungho" when he took that damn blade for Gicheol, he was very much Junmo. And a part of him would've been absolutely terrified to realise that he was willing to die for Gicheol, just as Gicheol was ready to kill for him.

I really don’t think we talk enough about how much Sir John by virtue of being the symbol of (british) empire, intrudes and encroaches on everybody so much. Literally takes me aback every single time I watch the Terror.

He always treats Francis as a subordinate, even on his own ship. He takes the head of the table (when it should be Francis’), he leads every interaction with Francis with superiority- always subordinates him even when he’s trying (so SO fucking poorly) to apologize for them getting iced in. He dictates the menu. He poaches even from JFJ for his journal. He just takes and takes and takes- and is it any wonder Francis resented him so much considering how much of it is absolutely related to the fact that he’s Irish? To the very thing that likely has put him in a subordinate position with most of the navy for most of his life? Something that shouldn’t continue considering his accomplishments and tenure as a captain? It’s absolutely vile.
