Brothers and Sisters
After the blog last week about how followers of YAHUSHA must observe the dietary laws found in The Torah and that there are certain foods that are not permissible for us to eat; I felt it would be appropriate to talk about pork and other abominations hidden in our foods even when we think we are following His commands. They are even hidden in cosmetics like make-up and lipstick. We as believers have to be careful what we eat because we could be eating unclean foods without even knowing it.
Some examples are as follows:
Update: With all of the information listed below; if you are in doubt about what ingredients are in a product call the company and get them to clarify it for you. It may take some time to research it, but it will be worth to know that you are on the right path. The whole goal is to not to indirectly be eating something that YAHUAH said not to.
1. I want to touch on the issue that we discussed last week about staying away from meat that is sacrificed to an idol, especially when you know it has been. So when you see halal meat stamped all over the product or in a restaurant do not eat it. Everyone is familiar with the name Lucifer; however, the original Aramaic/Hebrew says this in Isaiah 14:12 “How you have fallen from the heavens, O Helel, son of the morning! You have been cut down to the ground, you who laid low the gentiles!” So it’s Helel and not Lucifer and when you look at Strong’s Concordance number 1966 the word origin halal. So one of the names of Satan is linked to the word halal, which is more proof that followers of YAHUSHA should stay away from such meats.
2. Cheese! When you read the label on cheese you will notice there will be listed enzymes or rennet. Many cheeses are made with animal enzymes which are used to thicken milk during the first stages of the cheese making process. Though some cheese brands use cow enzymes, you have to do some deep research to find out which kind of enzymes your cheese brand uses. To be honest most companies that list “enzymes” instead of listing which animal it came from usually means it came from a pig source. Most pizza places for example buy cheese in bulk to make many pizzas to mass produce them and they want the most cost-effective cheese for business to make money. It will cost them a lot more to buy cheese with vegetarian or microbial enzymes UPDATE: Microbial enzymes are produced by bacteria, fungi, and yeast. Therefore, most will opt for cheese with pig enzymes. And rennet is the inner lining of the fourth stomach of calves and other ruminants, be sure to check that it is not coming from an unclean source.
3. Products like Doritos, Cheetos, Welches grape jelly, Dunkin donuts, crest tooth paste, McDonald’s apple pies, and gummy bears contain pig enzymes. Look out for powdered cheese flavoring on chips and store-bought macaroni with cheese which can contain casein, whey, or animal-derived enzymes. SOME Doritos products contain pork.Frito Lay, the makers of Doritos, uses a pork enzyme called porcine in SOME of their products.
The Frito Lay website lists a lot of products they say does not contain pork, although they cannot guarantee that for the products they sell in other countries. My question would be, if they cannot guarantee that pork is not in their products in other countries, then how can they guarantee it in America? I would be cautious with such products, if no other reason than the many artificial colorings and flavorings. Research has shown that many Yellow Lake dyes in food are linked to ADHD in children.
If in doubt always call the company and ask them and get more information. Even better take it to our Father YAHUAH in prayer.
4. Bread! Pre-made loaves of bread from the grocery store, bagels, breadsticks etc. Most bread that is purchased from the store and even bakeries, are made using a dough conditioner called L-cysteine which are certain proteins gathered from the hair and follicles of animals including pigs. Some sources say that L-cysteine contains human hair as well. Make sure you read the labels and if you are unsure call the company because they will use scientific terms to hide the names of the item used. The regulations for our food is so loose that manufacturers are allowed to manipulate terms and lead people astray. If the package said “Contains pig hair follicles” would you buy it then? The same way the word “cellulose” is another word for wood pulp.
5. Fast food grease! Be careful that they do not fry their foods in lard, because lard comes from pork fat. Jiffy corn bread mix is unclean because it contains lard as well. Also, look out for words like collagen (skin and connective tissue) in altoids, gummy candies and Starburst. Keratin also known as (PHK) is pig hairs, feathers, hoofs, claws, horns etc.
6. Marshmallows and Jell-O contain gelatin which comes from a pig source made from bones, cartilage, tendons, and skin of the pig.
7. Mono and diglycerides are food additives used as an emulsifier for commercial foods. They derive it from a fatty acid called E471 produced from vegetable oils, although animal’s fats are sometimes used and cannot be completely excluded as being present in the product. This additive is found in breads, ice cream, margarine (I can’t believe it’s not butter) , some peanut butter, mission tortillas, Nestle cocoa, Country Crock, Blue bonnet, gum, shortening, whipped toppings, marshmallows, and some beverages. Be careful what you pick up and eat and if you are unsure they call the manufacturer to determine if they are using a vegetable or animal fatty acid.
8. Some other items would be seaweed aka carrageenan. Seaweed grows on the rocks in water making it an algae and not a plant. Genesis 1:29 YHWH says we can eat any seed-bearing plant. Most companies that label foods kosher call seaweed a sea vegetable, when algae does not produce seed according to YHWH’s command. Seaweeds are also known as Kelp and is not grouped with plants, however, because it lacks the cellular complexity present in plant cells. (learner.org). Seaweed contains toxins because they help filter the water and keep it clean just like the crabs, lobsters, oysters, and other unclean sea creatures. They also contain microscopic seahorses and sea urchins within them and we know that seahorses are unclean within themselves. Also, seaweed is considered a living organism in the water and YHWH said in Leviticus 11:10 “But all that have not fins and scales in the seas and in the rivers, all that move in the waters or any living creature which is in the waters, they are an abomination to you.”
9. A lot of red candies (Natural red 4 or E120 for example) contain a dye made from extracts of dried bodies of the Cococus cacti bugs listed as “carmine” cochineal or carminic acid. This is a scale insect with a shield like scale. These are six-legged bugs known as crawlers. And YHWH says in Leviticus 11:20 “All flying insects that creep on all fours is an abomination to you. Only these you do eat of every flying insect that creeps on all fours: those which have jointed legs above their feet with which to leap on the earth. These of them you do eat: the locust after its kind, and the destroying locust after its kind, the cricket after its kind, and the grasshopper after its kind. But all other flying insects which have four feet is an abomination to you.” These bugs become immobile when they are mature and their legs are no longer visible, so they don’t leap, they have more than four legs, and they don’t have jointed legs above their feet. They are similar to aphids they sit on the leaves of plants and the carminic acid from their bodies is boiled in ammonia which is unsafe in itself, then use the dye for your candy.
10. Even vitamins that are passed off as whole foods or natural are still synthetic. For example vitamin C is listed as absorbic acid which is actually derived from GMO corn and it’s an isolated version of Vitamin C at that. This form of Vitamin C does not contain the full spectrum of Vitamin C like rutin found in Elderberries and Apples. Other whole food supplements like “Mega foods” are fed to yeast called “cerevisiae” and put into vitamins and passed off as the real food. Real whole food vitamins will be actual freeze-dried fruits and vegetables.
11. Look out for supplements like fish oil that contains a gelatin capsule that contains the fish inside of it. If it doesn’t specify what kind of gelatin they are using like bovine (beef) or vegetable gelatin, it is going to be pig gelatin.
12. Sodium stearoyl lactylate is a cheap ingredient used to increase the shelf life of food products because it keeps mold away. Dough conditioning also requires this ingredient which makes gluten in bread stronger. Vegetable oils are said to be used for sodium stearoyl lactate, but the use of animal fat such as pork cannot be guaranteed. Also known as sodium stellate, sodium 2-stearoyllactylate.
13. Majority of beer and wines use Isinglass which is a gelatin like substance collected from the bladders of freshwater fish like a Sturgeon which is used to clarify the alcohol. Other agents commonly used are egg white albumen, gelatin (pig) and casein. Make sure you look for vegan wine that uses clay or a clean fish to filter the alcohol. It is debated whether a Sturgeon is a clean or unclean fish because marine biologists say they have scales when they are younger but they fall off as they mature; therefore, they would have fins but no scales which is forbidden. This topic is for another blog though, but definitely make sure it does not have the pig gelatin in your drink.
14. Many canned refried beans are made with hydrogenated lard and as discussed earlier, lard comes from pigs. So definitely be careful when you go to Mexican restaurants and order refried beans because they will tell you that it contains lard and egg rolls in Chinese restaurants contain shrimp, so opt for the vegetable spring rolls. Always check the labels and if you are unsure call the company.
15. Some foods with vanilla flavoring (vanilla substitutes) in some alcoholic beverages, puddings, ice cream, candy, and chewing gums might contain Castoreum which is a beaver anal secretion. The beaver is already not fit for a believer in YAHUSHA to eat, but the anal secretion should raise some eyebrows in itself.
Artificial or natural flavoring?
The FDA says that a natural flavor is one that’s derived from a spice, fruit, or fruit juice, vegetable or vegetable juice, edible yeast, herb, bark, bud, root, leaf or similar plant material, meat, seafood, poultry, eggs, dairy products, or fermentation products. Basically a natural flavor is one that derived from a plant or animal. So when you look on the back of a package and see natural flavoring, check to make sure if it is coming from a plant or animal source. Because if it is coming from an animal source, then what animal did they use? Was it a pig? A horse? A camel? Anything that is an abomination for us to eat? And if they used seafood, then what seafood did they use? Most times when people refer to seafood they are usually referring to the crustaceans of the ocean like shrimp, crab, lobster, oysters, scallops etc. So I would definitely check with any company before consuming these products.
As for artificial flavoring we know that is exactly what they advertise it as, artificial! It is a science project that they cooked up in a laboratory and isn’t natural to begin with. According to Daniel Gritzer a culinary directory says “Artificial? Well, for starters it has the word “artifice” and all its implied deception and trickery practically built right into it.” The root of the word is deception? Hmmmm because it is not real! As always I pray that this has been a blessing to you as you walk with YAHUSHA and can now stop indirectly eating abominations. Please share this with anyone who is unaware of what they are eating because this is an important topic.
May YHWH barak (bless) you in YAHUSHA’s Name.

Read 1 book
Looking back at 2021, I’m proud of the person I’ve become and also astonished as to how transformative this year has been. I’m a much more independent person, and live by myself now. I have more responsibility taking care of the apt by myself but living alone has allowed me to enjoy New York City to its fullest. I’ve been able to connect with so many more people by meeting friends of friends, go out late at night to drink at a bar or go to a concert. And I’m able to be spontaneous which is something I was working towards for this year- I can choose to go wherever I want whenever I want and the freedom to do that is so refreshing.
This year, I’ve forged my own identity and I have a clear understanding myself for the first time. I know what I’m good at (blue sky thinking, leadership, teaming and community) and what I want in my career (something related to startups). The affirmation that I received while working on Soulo was life changing and I miss that energy. I’m fearless because after talking to investors, I feel like there’s really nothing too complicated or too difficult to figure out. I’m more blunt, saying what I want and what I think directly simply because that’s how they communicate and not waste time. I feel grateful for all the experiences this past year and how it’s shaped me.
Looking ahead at 2022, I’m nervous to spend the entire year doing long distance and it feels uncertain as to where everything will end up. But at the same time, I know it’ll challenge me and give me space to grow myself in other ways. I’m looking forward to traveling to Europe, adopting a cat, growing my hobbies, and challenging myself in my career, and being reunited with Jon at the end of the year (and seeing how he’s challenging himself in his career). Hoping for a god year, here’s to 2022.

You live in nyc right? Do you have any tips that would be helpful, I just moved here for school and am feeling very overwhelmed 😅
Hi bby,
Welcome welcome!! So first for mental tips: I think the first thing is to realize that you live here and you are not a tourist so don’t feel pressure to like *do stuff* all the time just cause it’s nyc and techinically there is always stuff to do. It’s fine to just lay on your bed. Also realize that this city is FULL and I mean FULL of rich people. People are likely richer than you. Accept that and don’t compare your lifestyle to theirs. Nothing about this city is normal so make an effort to not think owning name brands and drinking wine in rooftops every weekend is normal. It’s not.
Random pratical tips:
- if you get a bus and then the metro (or opposite) within a 2h window it is consider a transfer so if you are just gonna go somewhere quick consider taking the metro to go and the bus to go back
- speaking of metro, never go into an empty subway car! also use the metro for everything, I promise you can get anywhere by subway (except the airport, get an uber for that)
- Trader Joe’s is the cheapest food you’ll find. If you can do the bulk of your groceries there, do it. They don’t have name brands so for stuff you like name brands (like I like my sliced cheese to be kraft lol) go to whole foods/target!
- use 1.iota.com for free tickets for stuff including talk shows!
- I like to keep a running list of random stuff I’d like to do one day and then slowly tackle it when a free day shows up
- Buy a warm coat and a warm scarf!!!!!
- Places I like: big gay ice cream, taim, union square cafe (for a fancy dinner), pasquale (where I met Jay Z lol for a fancy dinner too), halal guys, absolute bagels
- Remember that the city is a lot “rougher” to live at in the winter than in the summer (in some ways ofc) so like a lot of stuff kinda comes to life starting in June!!
Good luck!!! NYC is the best place in the world!!

Pizza Pizza 🍕 . There are many iconic foods associated with NYC (bagels, hot dogs, halal plates) but few would disagree that pizza is one of the top . Lucky enough to stop by two spots for pizza but my favorite was by far NY Suprema . The thin crust is crisp and just a touch burnt and the gooey cheese and amount of sauce is perfect . I’ve had and enjoyed Chicago-style deep dish pizza, but thin crust is simply the best . 📷 Margarita $5 ~ A thin hand tossed crust is topped with a fresh homemade pomodoro sauce. The fresh mozzarella is placed in between and sprinkled on top is a generous layer of imported Pecorino Romano cheese. The pie is finished off with a light drizzling of imported EVOO from Italy / Fig $7 ~ A round pie, topped off with the finest Grande Mozzarella, creamy Goat cheese, Fig spread, premium bacon, imported Pecorino Romano, fresh Basil and Imported EVOO from Italy / Pepperoni Fra Diavolo $5.50 ~ We start off with a light and airy Sicilian style crust. Topped with our finest Grande Mozzarella. Our fresh homemade fra diavolo sauce and finished with our imported spicy pepperoni from Italy / (bonus slice from Patzeria Perfect Pizza) Pepperoni . 📍NY Suprema (8th Avenue, NY) . #instafood #foodstagram #yelpnyc #italianfood #margarita #pizza #dessert #nyceats #eaternyc #topcitybites #sffoodie #foodie #nomnom #feedfeed #eeeeeats #foodpics #eeeeeats #foodgasm #dailyfoodfeed #foodphotography (at NY Pizza Suprema) https://www.instagram.com/p/CScd-0gLDBv/?utm_medium=tumblr

Small dining area so prepares to take out. Many Bahn-mi options, all with fresh baguettes and pickled vegetables. You can have B3 Vietnamese Ham Sub and C1 Rare Beef Pho, the soup they separate noodles from the broth for taking out, included Thai basil and bean sprouts in a separate bag.
One of the best-veggie sub in the world, the bread's crunch and softness, the perfect tang of the pickled veggies with the Sriracha, and customer service is always excellent. Because it means you're getting one of their delicious sandwiches. The buns are crispy yet soft, their sauces are fantastic, and their pickled matchstick veggies have the perfect tang and crunch.
You can get a meatball sandwich and some spring rolls. The bread is really delicious. The spring rolls are nice and crispy and flavorful. They give you water to go along with your meals, which are very lovely and thoughtful, especially during these covid times. You will enjoy your lemongrass chicken rice. It is made using chicken thighs and perfectly seasoned and comes along with a bed of rice and veggies.

Order takeout food from here. They use high-quality ingredients, and sandwiches, salads, and desserts were fresh and tasty. Who knew a sandwich could taste so amazing! Perfect Viet sub in the Yaletown area. Made it new upon ordering, the staff is friendly.
The size of the hero is right enough for lunch. Lots of meat in reserve and the bread is crispy and warm. The price is reasonable, as well! People who work in the area should try it! The order has the Classic Bahn mi. It's a little more expensive than other Vietnamese restaurants, but we think it's still a good value—lots of meat inside along with the pickled carrots and white radish.
The bread is fresh and has a nice crust.
The other Bahn mi's are also very tasty. You will be returning soon. Loving the avocado bagel, and the Chicken Club Build your salad, and The Chop and Baby Kale is delicious. The staff is quite friendly. We recommend this lovely place if you are new to Vancouver or looking to try something new.

sugarspiceandcursewords replied to your post “This morning we sent Farmbaby off with mother-in-law, her Nana, to...”
My mom has a McDonald's blind spot too -- somehow it's become "their thing" because our kids don't get a lot of fast food when grandparents aren't around. (Which is not to claim that we keep their diets super-healthy; Costco pizza is OUR blind spot.) But Wal-Mart clearly has nothing to do with the child and everything to do with the adult. And who the hell feeds a dog from the table without express permission??
When I was little, Mom took me to McDonald’s multiple times in a week. My older sister was in nursery school in a half-day program, and it was too far for us to go home and come back. It was in a small town, there were not many establishments open for business full stop, let alone restaurants, and forget about a coffee shop.
So we’d sit in McDonald’s, and Mom would have a coffee, and I’d pick my way through a cheese danish. To this day I have favorable associations with the place. But I don’t like the food.
My mother has brought Farmbaby there once or twice. But she found that the food has changed and isn’t to her taste, and she felt that my sister probably didn’t want her to bring the kid there. She asked, and my sister said, well, if you have any choice, I’d prefer you didn’t. So Mom doesn’t take Farmbaby there anymore, unless it’s like, a road trip and there’s nowhere else. Fair enough.
Nana won’t eat the food at McDonald’s. She buys herself food elsewhere to eat, and sits there while Farmbaby eats. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what the fuck.
Here, McDonald’s is on a stretch of road between the small town where the farm is, and the small city where the farmer’s market is; a quarter-mile away, there’s a small diner that serves French fries that Farmbaby loves, and has waitresses who love her. There’s a bagel shop, there’s a second diner, there’s a convenience store that does great ice cream, then down in the city right by Farmbaby’s school there are literally a dozen affordable local-owned places-- a bagel shop, a donut shop (artisianal donuts! i know!), a candy store, another bagel shop (we’re spoiled for choice), a diner, a coffee shop with good baked goods, a fried chicken place that’s phenomenal, a place that does sliders, a place that does quesadillas, a place that does just hot dogs, a food court place with seven restaurants in it that’s open every day (including halal, subs, soul food, Hawaiian food, burritos, crepes, I’m forgetting one)-- I’m just saying, there are choices, and my sister’s friends own many of them.
There’s no reason to go to McD’s, and Nana explains that “well she pitches a fit because she wants it”-- she would not know what it was if you had not made such a big fucking deal about it, woman!!
Ugh just this moment I overheard a great example of how a non-parent adult can help a parent reinforce consistent discipline. Farmbaby was coming in with her mother, and then said, “I want to go in through Veg Manager’s door.” (His apartment adjoins the house, and has a door fifteen feet or so from the main kitchen door. He has a great relationship with Farmbaby, because he’s been around most of her life, has no kids himself, and so treats her mostly the way he’d treat any other person, just understanding that she’s under three feet tall and doesn’t really know a lot of stuff yet. He even makes her special lunches when it’s his day to cook, just like he does for the one woman who works here who eats a high-protein diet, because he’s a nice and sensible dude and cares about people without being weird about it.) “No,” her mother said, “don’t walk through his house with your shoes on. Just come through our door.” “No, I want to go through his door!” “You can’t go in if he says no, honey, you have to ask him for permission.” So she asked him. “VM, can I come in through your door?” It’s a screen door, so he’d heard the whole exchange. “Mmm,” he said thoughtfully, “no, I think you’d better go with your mother so your shoes wind up in the right place.” “He said no, so you better come in this way,” my sister said, and Farmbaby pouted, but the logic was impeccable: VM said no, and he’s her friend, and she wouldn’t want to hurt his feelings. So she dragged herself up and into the kitchen door--
and forgot about the whole thing, and it was not an issue anymore, because the adults were consistent and fair, and the non-parent observed the interaction and behaved consistently.
Nana just undercuts and isn’t consistent, and oh my god she can’t stop confusing the dog, I’m getting really upset about that. Don’t feed people’s dogs! Don’t give them cookies! Don’t ask them to do treats they don’t know how to do!! She insists on doing “sit” and “shake”, and Dini knows those, so that’s ok, but then she wants her to shake with her other paw, and she was never taught how to do that and is a nine-year-old Labrador mix, she’s not going to pick it up easily, and somehow Nana just thinks she’s going to “get” it somehow?
Anyway. Farmbaby is unmanageably unruly (currently stampeding and shrieking upstairs, I’ve heard my sister start a loud three-count at least twice. You know the kind. “ONE! I MEAN IT! TWO! YOU’RE GONNA BE SORRY~~” Makes me cringe all the way down the stairs.
Oh my god she’s on two again, a third time. This isn’t going smoothly.)
Nana’s leaving Friday morning. Farmbaby’s gonna need a good long detox and some calm and consistent lack of excitement.

New York Travel Guide: A Taste of Midtown
Planning a trip to New York City? Join me for our family’s picks on places to eat, sleep and visit while in Midtown New York in this New York Travel Guide. I am excited to share some hometown favorites with you AND collaborate with my very own brother, Andre Legaspi, who is a talented NYC-based street and lifestyle photographer. Photos by Andre Legaspi Photography.
My New York Travel Guide is long overdue. I was born and raised in New York, and head back regularly to visit family and friends, and of course, for work. I try to keep a finger on the pulse of the city and check out what’s new (and what is still around), so it’s about time I shared some of my must-sees with you. As a New York native who now calls California home, I offer a perspective that comes from someone who loves and misses her hometown and feels like a tourist at the same time.
Let’s start with A Taste of Midtown, shall we? Midtown may not have the cool factor of lower Manhattan, but between you and me, it’s my favorite. The light is brighter, the streets make sense, there’s always a show to catch, and my offices used to be in midtown, so I feel like I know it best.
Stay
My favorite place to stay when visiting as a family of four is the Andaz 5th Avenue. Across the street from the New York Public Library, it’s away from the zoo that is Times Square, but within walking distance to so many locations, particularly Broadway theatres and Grand Central Station. The suites are roomy, with little kitchenettes, and the food and room service is superb.
The London NYC is another gem. This hotel used to be an apartment building, making its all-suite rooms spacious by NYC hotel standards.
Eat & Drink
Have ramen at Ippudo Westside. Don’t forget the pork buns!
The Oyster Bar at Grand Central Station has been serving up oysters and seafood since 1913.
Indian Accent serves up a taste of New Delhi inside the beautiful Le Parker Meridien.
For more casual Indian food, check out Bengal Tiger. This tiny gem used to be a favorite when I was working in the area.
If you won’t be going into Flushing, stop into Joe’s Shanghai for some slurp-worthy soup dumplings. The crab soup dumplings are the best.
Start your day with bagels and lox! If you’re on the west side, head to Best Bagel & Coffee (love their non-dairy schmears!). On the east side, go to Ess-a-Bagel. My husband loves to surprise us by bringing home a dozen when he goes back. They ship, too!
Grab pastrami on rye and a knish at the Carnegie Deli.
Tim Ho Wan is now in Midtown! No need to fly to Hong Kong for dim sum and barbecue pork buns, though you will definitely have to wait.
Serendipity 3 – if decadence is what you’re after, this is your place. Back in the day, my friends and I would stop in just for dessert and order the Outrageous Banana Split — it was HUGE, and this was before Instagrammable desserts were a thing.
Sarabeth’s has been a favorite for brunch for decades!
Magnolia Bakery has grown since they opened their first store in NYC, but if you’re craving something sweet, why not pop in for their famed banana pudding?
Bibble & Sip – craving cream puffs? Stop in for a sweet treat and a coffee, maybe before catching a show?
Check out Eclair Bakery for a taste of Paris in New York!
Danji for delicious Korean! Try the shrimp and scallion pancakes, beef sliders, pork belly sliders, egg over rice, and tofu ginger scallion dressing. Perfect place to grab dinner before watching a show!
Explore The Plaza Food Hall, downstairs in the Plaza Hotel — you can find everything from doughnuts to lobster, and everything in between. You can do a whole food crawl in this spot alone.
Whenever I’m in a rush, I look for a Halal Guys food truck (street food various locations). It’s a great way to get your gyro or falafel fix.
I’m guessing you’re looking for a slice of pizza while in Midtown…so stop in NY Pizza Suprema near Penn Station.
Need your bubble tea fix? Go to ViVi Bubble Tea on 7th, Gong Cha on E44th or Kung Fu Tea in Koreatown.
Looking for vegan food? We love P.S. Kitchen – perfectly located in the Theater District for dinner before a show, the food is absolutely delicious and all profits are donated to charity. Blossom in Chelsea has been a vegan standby, and there’s also a wonderful location on the Upper West Side. For fast vegan food, by CHLOE has several locations throughout Manhattan, including one in Rockefeller Center.
Craving fresh produce? Just around the corner from the United Nations Plaza, the Dag Hammarskjold Plaza Greenmarket is open every Wednesday and is host to farmers from the tri-state area.
See & Do
Catch a Broadway show.
The New York Public Library is worth a peek, especially for book lovers.
Bryant Park is one of my favorite spots and is right behind the New York Public Library. If you’re in New York during the summer, stop by Bryant Park for their outdoor movie nights. Winter brings ice skating. I used to eat many picnic lunches here back in the day!
Top of the Rock for the views! And if it’s Christmas, take in the twinkling tree and go for a skate in Rockefeller Center.
Catch a performance at Radio City Music Hall. If it’s the holidays, you can see the Christmas Spectacular with the Radio City Rockettes!
Even if you’re not catching a train, stop into Grand Central Terminal. There are tons of eateries housed in the beautiful terminal.
Explore the exhibits at the Museum of Modern Art.
Go shopping! Flagship stores abound, from the three B’s (Bloomingdales, Barneys New York, Bergdorf Goodman) to Saks 5th Avenue. Plus, there are The Shops at Columbus Circle if you’re looking for a mall that happens to have high-end restaurants such as Masa and Per Se.
Sneak away from the urban jungle and stroll along the High Line. The High Line stretches down into Chelsea and Lower Manhattan, which is where we’ll pick up the guide again next time!
Photography by my very talented brother, Andre Legaspi. Follow Andre on Instagram and check out his work at andrelegaspi.com.
