This is some concept art for Ghost King Father!Jason todd as he eventually appears in my fic, Imprint.

Decided to slap the Red Hood bat on his chest like a breast plate and I really like the way it looks. Still tweaking colors and making final decisions on the face, but I think I'll stay with these horns. And the crown is still undecided but this is kind of what I ended up finally thinking of. I went with green jewels to go with his eyes and Lazlo (name pending? Let me know what you think. Might run a poll soon on the Pit tiger's name).

Anyway this was a much bigger undertaking than I thought it would be when I started, but it was one hell of a stretch to get back into making art again.

That's the obligatory Smokescreen-centered fic. ABACA is the structure, it's always coming back to Smokescreen training in armed combat with Wheeljack, who's trying to both teach him how to use a sword safely but also, ultimately, trying to push him towards a greater understanding of himself. It goes through from the ground-level barest basics to Smokescreen eventually getting good enough to realise that bladed weapons aren't really his thing after all.

Inbetween, there's other stuff, mainly Smokescreen watching the rest of the team spar amongst themselves (and also fucking eavesdropping in on Bulkhead and Wheeljack stargazing and talking about him, the little shit) in a way that is a little bit just me having fun with characterisation and a lottle bit of Smokey learning through mirroring back what he sees with other people.

It's all building up to the realisation for Smokescreen that the thought of who he wants to become has to come from the inside. He doesn't want to literally be like Wheeljack -- moreso, he just wants what Wheeljack has, and that's something he's come across less through talent (something Smokey has in abundance) but through experience (which... ah. Hm.) and that there are many approaches to self-improvement.

Ironwood killing Jacques before going after Winter is so funny to me because James didn’t even have to. Bastard was locked up and wouldn’t pose that much of a threat due to being a complete wimp. He killed him because Jacque was THAT annoying. He had already decided to go after Winter once he escaped and then was like “oh one more thing”.

And I think it's especially interesting because it's another time with those two characters that Jacques is actually the one in the right. There's no reason to kill him. He's a piece of shit and deserves worse, probably, but the fact that Ironwood takes the time to take him down specifically because he's so detached from reality and has decided that he's the only one allowed to make decisions about who lives or dies is less about Jacques himself and more about Ironwood losing the last shred of who he used to be.

yes yes yes. maybe she's sees lexa looking at something and clarke's like "you should get it" but lexa just shrugs it off because she doesn't think it will look good on her or fit her properly and it'll just end up making her feel worse about her body.

and that's one of the first gifts clarke gets her. she opens the very pretty box and at first there's "oh wow this is beautiful" but that's quickly replaced by something more uncertain and worried.

"Clarke i don't-" there's like so much conflict in her eyes. because she doesn't want to seem ungrateful, it is a very nice set after all and lexa loves it, she's just not sure she wants to wear it.

"there's no pressure. i saw you looking at it the other day and i think it would look incredible on you." clarke means it, she doesn't want lexa to do anything she's not comfortable with and she obviously knows lexa's a little self-conscious and a little insecure about some parts of her body so she doesn't want her to feel like she has to try it on. but at the same time she also really wants lexa to see herself the way she sees her. "but i don't want you to feel like you have to try it on...just, think about it."

lexa does try it on eventually. she's alone at home and feeling particularly good that day. and the box is just sitting there on top of her dresser. so with this like sudden burst of confidence, she grabs the box and opens it, takes out the very tiny pieces of fabric. she likes how it fits (to her surprise) and she catches a glimpse of herself in the mirror while she's getting dressed (?) and its like a hmm not bad sort of moment. she kinda sits down and does her hair and makeup, wanting to give herself the best chance at actually liking it and not having a very sudden dysphoric breakdown. she feels good right now but her relationship with her body is very complicated and it can change like flicking a switch.

so anyways, then lexa's just standing in front of the mirror very O_O at herself. like. clarke was very right. it does look good on her. after spending like a good five minutes just oggling herself and feeling sexier than she has in probably her entire life, lexa feels like. clarke should to see it. she would appreciate it.
