Un unbelievable stack of homework and two essays due. You couldn’t believe it. The sunlight beamed through your window and shined onto your desk, papers covering its surface as you tiredly scribbled on your assignment papers. Friday night and you had nothing better to do than weekend homework, how miserable. You sighed, tapping mindlessly on your desk when a buzz from your phone interrupted you. Picking it up, you smiled seeing it was Gwen.
It read, “on the way, open ur window!”
You sighed at the words, setting down your pencil and getting up out of your chair to unlock your window. Gwen had a bad habit of breaking in when she wanted to. You’d already assured her your family was okay with her visiting, preferably through the front door. But she always insisted that it was easier this way. Socializing seemed to sometimes stress her out you noticed.
Unlocking your window with a click, you raised it open, taking a nice breather as cold air blew in. The sunset was particularly nice today, and you didn’t quite mind seeing your favorite person right now. Sitting on your bed, you spiffed up your room for Gwen, making the bed and cleaning your cluttered desk. Just as you were about to exit your room to go and grab some snacks, a few knocks on your window sill signaled that your girlfriend had arrived. You turned around and beamed.
“Hey, sorry for the late notice.” She apologized, sitting on your window sill and climbing down from it. Taking off her white mask, Gwen sat down on your bed, crashing down on it. Until she rose up again.
“Oh, sorry.”
“Thank you for remembering.” You teased. Watching her take off her beaten-up shoes, and carefully placing them near the window on the floor. She let out a huff, flopping back onto your bed. Gwen’s suit was a little damaged and scratched. She looked tired.
“I’m not keeping you from anything, am I…?” She asked. It was obvious that she felt guilty about her visit. But you’d reassured her many times before that your room was always available to her whenever she wanted. And so was your company.
Eyeing the homework on your desk, you declared your study session over. It didn’t matter all that much compared to hanging out with her. “Nope. I’m glad you dropped by actually, I was getting bored.” You explained, looking at Gwen as she folded her legs up on your bed. Gwen awkwardly rubbed her arm as she looked around the room.
“So…”
“Yes.”
She raised her eyebrow, “You don’t even know what I was gonna say.”
Rolling your eyes, you responded, “Yes you can sleep over. I don’t mind.”
Gwen smiled at you, relieved. You leaned back against your desk, “I’m glad you’re here.”
She smirked, “What, you missed me?”
“Actually I did, yeah.”
Looking at Gwen, you figured that she didn’t have the best day today, being a crime fighting hero and all. Walking up to her and leaning down, you placed a hand on her cheek and gave her face a quick kiss. She chuckled and peered up at you. You held onto her cheek momentarily, “I’m gonna go and get us some snacks. Have you eaten anything today?”
“Oh uh, I haven’t had the chance yet.”
“Gwen.” You said, sternly.
“I just had to go to band practice, then there was some jerk downtown and-” She spoke quietly, her voice dying down as you stared at her, an irritated look on your face. Gwen sighed and grabbed the back of her neck, her hair falling down to hide her guilty expression.
“Sorry…”
You sighed, smiling at her nonetheless, “I’m gonna go make us some food. Stay put Spider.” Gwen grinned at you, watching you walk out of the room. She took a deep breath, lying down as she observed your room like she always did. She loved the comfort you and your space brought her. Your room was decorated with posters and fairy lights.
Gwen looked around, deciding that she should probably change. It was an unspoken ritual for Gwen to pick out something from your closet. You’d let her do it once, for a sleepover. But ever since, she’d found routine in picking out an outfit of yours for her to wear and potentially keep if given permission.
She walked up to your closet, finding a pair of pajama pants and an oversized tee. She slipped it on as she changed out of her spider suit, carefully tucking it away to where it was out of sight. Just in case. Gwen tugged the shirt towards her face, taking in your scent. Her senses were filled with just you, as she felt at ease.
Walking over to your bed, she noticed a new photo in your little collage of Polaroids. It was from your last hangout. “The Mary Janes Concert–October.” In it, Gwen was holding you by the waist, her drumsticks clasped in her hand. Your arm held her cheek for a kiss, whilst the other held up Gwen’s Polaroid camera. Gwen was laughing as she looked in your direction, feeling proud of your praise of her performance.
That night your throat was so raspy from cheering for her, and Gwen felt absolutely ecstatic as you tackled her after the concert. She was happy to introduce you to her band members after, grabbing you by the hand and speaking with pride to announce you as her one and only girlfriend.
Gwen stared at the Polaroid, taking it in. She smiled and reached out, touching the photo. Moments like these felt surreal, and being reminded that someone as amazing as you were willing to stick by her and be in her life, made her woozy. Gwen loved you a lot.
The door cranked open as you walked in, a plate of sandwiches in one hand, and a mug of freshly brewed tea in your other. You set down the food on your nightstand, glancing at Gwen as she took her hand away from the Polaroid hung up above your bed. You observed her, obsessed with the way she looked in your clothes.
“Being nosy again?”
“Just lookin’ around.” She shrugged, tucking her blonde hair behind her ear.
You sat down next to her, the bed shifting under your weight. You held out the plate towards her, to which she gratefully accepted. Gwen dug in right away, mumbling incoherent words as she ate. You laughed at this, “I can’t understand you when your chewing, you know that right?” Gwen swallowed her bite and smiled at you, gesturing to her sandwich.
“This is seriously good. I’ll never get tired of your food.”
“Glad you like it.” You grabbed the mug off of the nightstand, passing it to her as she finished the last bite of her sandwich. Chamomile is Gwen’s favorite. You’d made an effort to always keep it in stock for her since she liked to crash at yours a lot. Gwen took it carefully in her hands, blowing on the tea to cool it down.
You grabbed a pillow off of your bed and hugged it to your chest, just quietly watching Gwen as she drank her tea. You gently smiled, as she seemed a little bit more energized now. Grabbing your own mug from the nightstand, you drank it quickly, uncaring of how cold it had gotten. Putting the mug down, you patted the bed. Gwen looked up at you curiously.
“I’m a little tired today, do you wanna…?”
Her eyes widened as she lowered her mug.
“Yeah, I wouldn’t mind.” She smiled at your offer, shifting off of the bed, and placing her tea on your nightstand. She lifted the covers off of your bed, carefully moving the pillows and occasional stuffed animals off to the side to make room. As Gwen got into the bed, you turned off your main light, allowing the darkness to consume your room. The sun had set long ago now, and it was time to wind down. You walked up to your fairy lights, switching them on so that only gentle orange light illuminated your room.
Carefully stepping over to your bed, you got in, placing the covers over yourself, noting how you were much colder before. The warmth of your covers had you snuggling into them deeper. You glanced over at Gwen, who looked a little unsure of what to do with herself. You two were still kind of new to the whole cuddling thing. It’d taken a long while for Gwen to be comfortable with physical contact like that on top of that. She let out a small laugh as you snaked your arm around her as you faced her.
“What?” You asked, curious of her amusement.
“I don’t think this position is natural for you.” She teased, noting how awkward your arm felt around her torso. Your body was also pretty stiff. Gwen’s face was gently glowing due to the string lights, her blonde hair fell down into her face as she shifted her body to face towards you. So much for being big spoon tonight.
There was a quick silence between the two of you. Your face was comfortably above the covers, whilst Gwen pulled them up to cover her exposed skin. Her heart was racing, as usual. She’d never gotten used to intimate moments like this, and she’d decided that she’d never get used to it. You made her nervous in all the good ways.
Gwen peered at you, the covers pulled up to half of her face. Nothing was said between the two of you. Leaning in closer, you gently moved her blonde hair out of her eyes. Talking no louder than a whisper, you spoke, “Your hair, I think the pink is fading, you should…”
Gwen shuffled, reaching out and grabbing your collar, pulling you closer to her. Her hair tickled your face as she hovered her face near yours, before carefully connecting her lips with yours. It was quick but intimate. And if not for the dark, Gwen would have definitely taken the opportunity to comment on the rising red on your cheeks. She pulled away, not completely leaving the kiss as her lips brushed over yours. And yet just like that it was over.
She cleared her throat as you lay there speechless, she glanced at your eyes through the dim room, avoiding eye contact as much as possible.
“We should probably sleep now. It’s getting… late.” She blurted. That statement was probably wrong, but you nodded anyways. Gwen’s internal alarms went off, as she criticized her judgment. That took a lot of courage, but she didn’t want you to know. Laying beside her, you stared at Gwen in awe and adoration. You loved this girl so much it was unbelievable.
“Fine.” You sighed. Gwen eyed you questioningly.
“Go on.” You said defeatedly. Gwen laughed at your words, smirking as she saw your expression.
“Finally.” She teased.
Turning over to the other side, you felt her cold hands wrap around your torso, pulling you in closer. Your bodies were snug against each other. Still being wide awake, you hoped Gwen didn’t feel your thumping heart as her hand was placed on your torso. She definitely did notice of course, but she was nervous too, hiding her face in your shirt.
You both lay there, nervous and awkward, as it was usually in the beginning stages of a relationship. You felt her move your fingers, playing with them.
“I think you’re the most amazing girl I know.” She spoke softly, into your back. Your heart fluttered at this. At Gwen’s voice, and the way she gave you affection.
“I love you,” you whispered out.
Gwen only smiled as she planted a soft kiss into your shoulder.
“I love you too.”
Yawning, Gwen mumbled something into your shirt, unable to really keep her eyes open any longer. You hummed, questioning what she said. But she didn’t reply. You’d finally calmed down, letting the comfort of the covers and Gwen’s warmth ease your mind. The city’s ambiance seeped into your room through the open window as you let your mind wander. Gwen’s breathing slowed down, her head placed on your back.
Readjusting yourself and the covers by pulling them up, you froze as Gwen stirred in her sleep. Cautiously, you pulled part of the covers over her. Gwen held onto your torso tighter and moved her face into your neck, her breathing tickling your skin. Holding her hand, you caressed her skin. Her hands were rough and calloused, evidence of her skills as a drummer.
Feeling Gwen twitch in her sleep, she subconsciously intertwined her fingers with yours. The only thing you could remember was Gwen’s touch as you dozed off. Gwen may have needed your comfort and presence the most after every day as Ghost-Spider, but she’d never understand that you needed her more than you let on.

hello! i haven’t sent an ask in a while because schoolwork has been piling up infinitely :[ , but your recent posts have been really interesting to me! i really liked the room sketch one, I can’t exactly explain why but there’s something so indescribably human about it. i love spaces that looked lived in, that have personality, and I think that your room (current one? made up? old one?) has done a great job of showing that. and I’m not very good at giving advice— I can hardly follow it myself, but if you don’t know something, don’t know what you want to do, try things. it’s okay if you don’t like them. i recently found out I’m more competent in languages than I thought! i can already read and understand simple sentences in german.
there’s always more to yourself than you’ll know, I think, but the world is kinder than people think. If anything, everyone is still very new at this. we’ve never lived before. do the things you like, branch out, don’t become less of yourself for other people. everything has a place, and my best advice is to treat life as you would a vacation. do all the things you can while you’re here. build a life that makes it worth it. (sorry for the long ask and my rambling, or if this is overstepping in any way. i just read what you wrote and kind of related to it in a way. thank you for continuing to create art, it brings me a lot of joy! :] )
hey isopod!!! thanks for the ask & I wish u good luck with ur school work!
Thank u so much for the compliments, im really glad the vibe of my room was conveyed in those doodles. i absolutely looove drawing my room! It’s extremely small (a renovated utility closet) and just barely fits a bed + my desk but its packed full of the things i love. It’s very lived in and I feel like it reflects my character well.
when i drew that page I was in my senior year of high school and pressures to decide my future were overwhelming. I never thought much about it until then and I didn’t have any idea of what I was going to do. The only thing I felt I had going for me was art but I didn’t want to turn my only hobby into a job I hated. I remember going through a master list of majors on random college websites and one-by-one asking myself if I’d be okay doing it. In the end I had nothing. I was really crushed about it and felt stuck. This was right after the covid quarantine too so focusing in school was difficult & I couldn’t bring myself to apply for scholarships. I started skipping classes, smoking weed, and pushing off my assignments. All of this only made me feel more miserable, of course, so everything seemed pretty bleak at the time.
But luckily I had the support of my family and especially my mother. She would always remind me that “we have option”, “we always have options”. Because I did! This was a fresh start to try my hand at a totally different experience than what I’ve done so far. I ended up choosing my major on a complete whim after hearing my aunt had a job in an adjacent field. I was pretty sure I’d drop out after a semester, yet here I am about to graduate soon & I’m having a ton of fun!! (Hell, I’m 10 hours out in the middle of nowhere right now for my Field Methods class!) It’s not that I had a knack for Geology that I just never tapped into, or that i secretly had a passion for rocks this entire time; I just found something that seemed like an okay fit and grew interest from there. I think that a small level of commitment like that is more than enough to get you going. I had a ton of ideas in my head about how I needed to have a perfect fit major that would connect every dot I’ve laid out in my life thus far, but that’s not true at all. Life is much more messy and unpredictable than that.
But enough of my rambling!! That time of my life may have been stressful but I’m very grateful that I went through it! It changed how I viewed problems and it taught me to always look for other options when everything seems helpless.
Thank u so much for ur encouragement, I really appreciate it <33 I completely agree with everything u said!! Life is an ever changing experience & often leads u in unpredictable directions!

Kisses where one person is sitting in the other’s lap
Shinsou
To say that your relationship with Shinsou is new would be an understatement. You’ve been friends for years—ever since the third year of high school when you’d been assigned to him as his support—but you’ve never been particularly close until recently when you’d once again found yourself working on his hero costume and support items.
He’d only asked you out yesterday after nearly two months of tension-filled glances and fleeting touches. Now, the two of you are watching a movie at your mutual friend Kirishima’s apartment, sitting quite awkwardly on a loveseat and pretending like you don’t want to get closer to each other. You haven’t told your friends yet about your new relationship status, but that’s not entirely what’s holding you two back. If anything, it’s run-of-the-mill first date awkwardness (if watching a movie with six of your closest friends around can be considered a date), too afraid to initiate anything.
The movie’s dull; the two of you have pulled out your phones to snark at each other through text, a strategy you’d begun weeks ago after being hushed one too many times by Kaminari because you were talking too loudly. The bright screens probably aren’t all that much better, but you two are in the back anyway; nobody can see it unless they turn away from the TV.
You risk a glance up and end up locking eyes with Shinsou. Your face heats up, heartbeat quickening, as he gives you a charming smile. You watch him glance around the room, unsure at first why he’s doing it until he turns his attention back to you and slowly, silently, moves over across the loveseat into your personal space.
Your legs are touching now, faces so close your nose is nearly brushing his. One of his hands has come to brace against the armrest you’re leaning on, allowing him to stay leaning in.
“Hey,” he says, little more than a whisper and clearly hushed so the others don’t hear.
“Hey yourself,” you respond, earning yourself a low snort.
Instead of vocally responding, he pushes himself back up to a sitting position and then moves his hands to maneuver your legs until you’re no longer curled up against the couch’s backing but sitting like a normal person.
Then he lays down, head resting on your thighs, and turns to face the movie.
You’re grinning uncontrollably. All possible self-conscious thoughts of the others seeing you are dashed from your mind; you like the weight of him in your lap too much.
You spend much of the rest of the movie like that, easily over half an hour. A few minutes in he reaches down to find your hand and bring it to his hair, encouraging you to stroke it. It’s even softer than you’ve imagined in the past, fluffy and thick and genuinely nice to run your hands though. There’s a surge of contentment that rushes through you, and maybe a little bit of pride at the knowledge that you can do this pretty much any time you want now.
By the end of the film, you’re pretty sure Shinsou’s fallen asleep. He gives you the scare of your life, however, when he grabs your arm as you’re trying to pull away. His eyes open, purple irises trained on you.
What happens next you blame on grogginess, him still not quite being awake. He blames it on you; whenever you mention it, he says he saw you and had become consumed with an overwhelming desire to just lean up and kiss you. Whatever the reason, it’s nice for you.
His hand comes up to the back of your neck, tugging you down just as much as he lifts up. It begins soft, kind of sweet, just lips as the two of you melt into each other—but it doesn’t stay that way for long. Within moments the two of you morph the kiss from a quick peck after a movie to a very passionate makeout, and frankly you’d be more concerned if they hadn’t interrupted the two of you.
You pull away when you hear Kaminari’s wolf whistle, left sitting on the loveseat with a burning face and your boyfriend in your lap, still half asleep.
Shigaraki
You’re not jealous.
No, you’ve been dating Tomura for months. You can’t be jealous when he’s, well, yours, and has been for quite some time. You’re his first relationship, his first everything, and it’s frankly foolish of you to feel this insecure just because some floozy is simpering at him from across the enormous room where you and the rest of the League are scattered about. It’s not like she really wants him, or even knows him; he’s just the hew big-shot leader and she’s decided being his lover sounds good. Too bad that role’s already taken.
Still, there’s a sinking feeling in your chest—an ache in your heart, a burning lump in your throat—that says now that Tomura is Grand Commander he’ll drop you for someone better.
You don’t realize you’re glaring daggers at the woman until she catches your eye. She has no business looking that smug; the only reason she’s allowed in the room is to give Tomura reports. You’re the one lounging next to him as she approaches; he has your legs over his lap, his thumb absent-mindedly rubbing circles on your thigh.
And when she bends down to drop the report on his lap (as if your damn legs aren’t there, you want to scoff) she draws the eyes of every League member except the one she wants, because you’re the one who has Tomura’s attention.
He’s wearing Father, but you’ve long passed being afraid when he looks at you from between those lifeless digits and you can see the expression beneath; those lips tugging down slightly in a pout, brow furrowed, eyes far softer than they have any damn business being while hiding behind the severed hand of his old man. He’s concerned, and a little confused.
Tomura plucks the report from your legs and sets it aside, reaching to pull you fully into his lap. To your surprise he takes Father off, too; he buries his face into your neck to prevent the outsider from seeing, lips just brushing your ear so that you can hear him.
“What’s wrong?”
“Hm?”
“You’ve been pouting ever since the secretary came in, brat.”
Like hell you’re saying anything in front of her. You remain stubbornly silent.
He doesn’t like that, you can tell, but while the secretary’s interest is lost on him he knows you well enough to tell that you’re uncomfortable with her. Presumably that’s why he doesn’t press the issue and kisses you instead.
You don’t expect it. Tomura’s not exactly one to shy away from PDA (you’re sitting in his lap in front of the whole League, for fuck’s sake), but intimacy is something he’s never wanted to take beyond closed doors. When he’s in a sour mood you’ll kiss him sometimes, even in public (he’s invigorated by your affection in many way, but never anything you’d call heated.
This kiss, though, is. It’s anything but chaste, perhaps even downright lewd. He’s all but initiating a makeout with you while Miss Secretary is standing right there. Maybe his affection-motivated ways are rubbing off on you, but it helps more than it probably ought to.
You’re dazed by the time he pulls away. The sound of the door slamming closed snaps you from your trance. The secretary, ploy foiled simply by your annoyed expression, had left. It doesn’t matter. None of this was ever really about her in the first place.
“There,” Tomura says, audibly quite pleased with himself. “She’s gone. Now tell me what’s wrong.”
You sigh, leaning in to tuck your own head into his shoulder. Your voice is muffled when you speak, quiet so that only he can hear.
“It’s dumb.”
“It’s bothering you,” he says simply. There’s an underlying statement there: tell me so I can destroy it for you. In many ways, Tomura is a predictable man.
You know he’s not going to drop it, so you accept your fate. “She was making a pass at you.”
He tenses beneath you, holding you closer. You risk lifting your head from where it’s buried to see the way his nose is scrunched up. “She wasn’t.”
“Yeah, she was.”
There’s a pause, like he’s processing everything you’re saying. Then, seemingly finally registering what exactly is bothering you, his hands move to grip your hips and maneuver you to straddle him, sitting fully on his lap facing him. “Fine. Why’re you pissed about it, then?”
You lean in again, arms coming to wrap around his neck as you bury your face into his chest and try to ignore the tears that are coming. You’d never be able to live it down if any of the others saw you crying over the fucking secretary.
But you know more than anyone thanks to many late nights assuring your boyfriend he’s the only one for you that Tomura can empathize with this insecurity. It’s a little strange how the script has flipped.
“She’s a high ranking MLA member, she probably has some crazy strong quirk. I’m quirkless. I dunno. I guess I’m scared you’ll drop me for someone like her. Like I said, it’s dumb.”
He doesn’t speak for a moment. You sit there, listening to his heartbeat and matching your breathing to his. Then he speaks.
“Your emotions aren’t dumb. It’s okay that you’re feeling this way. Thank you for telling me.” He’s parroting you, you realize; this is what you tell him every time he comes to you for comfort when he’s gotten in a mood. You feel a little fuzzy, warmth flooding your chest. “But I think we both know they’re irrational.”
“Tomura… I—”
“I’m not interested in some lame-ass NPC,” he interrupts, no hesitation and entirely sincere. He doesn’t even need to think about it. “You’re my player two, my endgame. The only thing in this world worth protecting. You really think that secretary can hold a candle to you? I didn’t even notice her. Why would I when you’re here?”
You can’t help it, you surge upward and kiss him, just as passionately as he had you mere moments before. His right hand traces up your spine to find the back of your neck and pull you closer, sending a thrill through your body as your own arms tighten around him.
“Oi! Horndogs! Get a damn room, don’t make us see that!”
You break away at Dabi’s words, panting slightly, and if the sincerity of Tomura’s little rant hadn’t convinced you that his words were true, the look of utter adoration he’s regarding you with would have.

Tumblr media
“i got you boba,” you announced as you approached a small, square table in the library where your classmate, levi, resided.
“what the fuck is that.” he asked.
“tea.”
“say less.”
you handed him the drink and sat down across from him, watching him slurp away. his attention quickly moved back to the book in front of him.
“how’d you find me?” levi questioned, his steel eyes glancing up at you for a quick second.
“you’re always here,” you replied, shrugging. “plus, i need help with our reading assignment.”
“you always need help.” he sighed and closed his book.
you and levi shared a shakespearean literature course and somewhat became friends by default because your assigned seats were directly next to each other. he was very reserved in class, but your boredom got the best of you, so you’d talk his ear off. he wasn’t very amused initially, as he took his schoolwork and class time very seriously, but he eventually warmed up to you. after forcing levi to help you once, you just kept coming back. you enjoyed his quiet company, and he appeared to be just as alone as you were. except his was by choice, you assumed.
“i just can’t keep up with all of macbeth’s drama,” you joked. “i figured i’d pay you with tea and my presence to help me for the millionth time.”
“yeah, your presence was starting to not be enough,” levi said monotonously, yet a small smile forming on his lips.
“you must like my company a little if my presence was enough of a payment before now,” you replied as you leant your elbow on the tea, resting your chin in your palm.
“i guess you’re okay,” he said simply. “what do you need help with.”
“listen, i tried to read act 2, but i was at a loss,” you stated. “oh, and i forgot my book.”
“you’re an idiot,” levi mumbled, shaking his head. “c’mere.” your eyes widened, but you complied, getting up from your seat across from him. as you made your way around the table, he grabbed the back of the chair next to his and pulled it out for you. you thanked him and took a seat, in which he replied with a simple “mm-hm.”
“take some notes. i don’t want you calling me tonight saying you’re confused,” he told you. you nodded and grabbed your pencil and notebook from across the table. levi started summarizing the text for you, and explaining the shakespearean language that constantly left you feeling perplexed. you silently listened, jotting down notes for a while before getting bored and doodling on the sides of the paper. he quickly took notice in your drawings. he glanced down, seeing an outline of an angry face, along with an arrow pointing to levi. his eyebrows furrowed when he saw the word “stinky” accompanying the face and arrow. he swiftly picked up his own pen and drew an x through your doodles, then scribbling “brat” down on the paper. you giggled and nudged his knee with yours.
“tch. you should be paying attention. we’re being quizzed on this,” levi commented, causing you to groan. you folded your arms and let your face fall forward into them.
“i didn’t even hear the professor say anything about a quiz,” you grumbled, your voice muffling against your skin.
“you didn’t hear because you’re always talking my ear off. she said there’ll be an essay, too,” he added, only making you groan once again. you relaxed slightly when you felt his hand pat the back of your head. his head pats were his quiet way of trying to comfort you. they always felt nice.
you suddenly perked up, his hand falling off your hair, in which he moved to rest it on the back of chair.
“okay, okay. let’s get serious,” you said, nodding towards his textbook.
“i’ve been serious,” levi replied blankly. he continued his little lecture, and you wondered if he realized his fingers had started toying with the ends of your hair. his touch sent chills down your spine. you started to take note in your mind of how he sometimes did those little things. those little gestures and touches. you liked them a little more than you should have. maybe you were just touch starved, or maybe they just felt good coming from him. levi wasn’t an easy guy to read, so you normally brushed those kinds of moments off. but as he droned on about some witchs’ prophecies, all you could think about was how the tips of his fingers were getting closer to the skin on your nape.
“you’re not taking notes,” levi stated the obvious, sighing and turning his head to you. “like i said, i don’t want you calling m-“
“what if i called you anyway?” you asked gingerly. his eyebrows furrowed, and the hand behind you disappeared. “like, what if I called you, but not to talk about macbeth?”
“what else is there to talk about.”
ouch. okay. now this is fucking awkward. should’ve just kept my mouth shut and let the kid keep playing with my stupid hair.
“hah, nevermind. i was just kidding. keep going,” you managed to get out, despite the feeling of an invisible hand around your neck to keep you from continuing to make an ass of yourself. you shifted your attention forward, your gaze falling down to your notebook.
“um, yeah. you can call me,” levi spoke, his normally uninterested tone sounding off. there was the tiniest hint of....desperation? tenseness? it went unnoticed by you.
“no, it’s okay. i don’t wanna bother you more than I have,” you replied. i need to get out of here. “i actually gotta go. i told my, um, roommate i’d help them with something.” you swiftly stood up, reaching out to gather your things, when levi’s hand was suddenly grasping your wrist.
“i...want you to call me,” he said, his volume low and his gaze shifting around, appearing to be quite nervous. you froze, and his grip on your wrist began to loosen before letting it drop. you nod slowly, pushing your head downwards to hide the embarassing blush creeping on your cheeks.
later that night, you were left alone, as your roommate was out with their friends or participating in a study group almost every night. you were sat at your desk, drumming a pencil and fidgeting around nervously, wondering if you should call levi. the phone works two ways, and you always seemed to be the one making the effort to hang out or talk to him.
what if he thinks i’m desperate?
you sighed and swallowed your pride. you pulled out the headphones from your ears that were playing loud music and found yourself staring at his contact in your phone.
knock knock. knock.
your head snapped in the direction of the noise coming from outside your door.
“hey, brat. let me in.”
you froze, your mouth dropping. you sat there for a few moments, debating whether or not you should pretend you went to bed.
knock. knock.
you took a deep breath and stood, making your way to the door and cracking it open. you saw levi with his usual stoic expression. before you could even say a word, he raised his hand, pushing the door open and walking past you. he stopped in the middle of the room, his gray eyes scanning the area.
“i’m assuming this is your side,” levi said simply, pointing to your side of the room. you felt embarrassed when you realized your bed was unmade and a plushy was propped up against your pillow.
“hah. uh, yeah,” you replied. the nerves in your voice and laugh were evident. you crept to your desk, wanting to hide anymore embarrassing evidence. you quickly found a cringey picture frame of you and a friend from your hometown, your hand grasping it and gently placing it facedown.
“what brings you to my dorm?” you wondered, taking a seat in the desk chair to hide your shaking legs. unfortunately for you, your shifty actions only grabbed his attention, and your question went ignored. levi strolled to your desk and pressed his hand on the wooden top, leaning nonchalantly. he reached out for the picture frame you were desperate to hide, and picked it up. you looked up at him as he observed it with a small smirk.
“tch. cute,” he commented before propping the frame back on the desk. you hurriedly slammed it facedown again, mumbling a sheepish ‘thanks.’ you continued to stare up at him as his eyes looked over your desk. his attention turned to you, his eyes falling onto your pink-tinted features.
“want some tea?” you offered.
some time later, you and levi found yourselves lounging on opposite sides of your bed, both sitting with legs criss crossed. he held a large tea cup, sipping quietly at his second drink as you let him in on some gossip about your roommate’s friend’s cousin. you don’t even know how you got to this point, but after offering him a drink and busying yourself, your nerves simmered. it felt a lot more comfortable after that.
“and then they said that she said that he got caught sexting not one, not two... but twelve other girls. then his girlfriend tried to burn his house down. and now she’s in prison for attempted arson,” you finished. levi lowered his cup after taking a long sip, and continued to stare with a blank expression. but despite his bored appearance, he was rather invested in this story.
“that’s rough,” he commented.
“i know right?” you replied as you picked up your phone. you clicked to see the time. “jeez, it’s already midnight.”
“tch, is that your way of kicking me out?” levi asked, smiling ever so lightly.
“unfortunately, yeah. i have an 8am class tomorrow,” you said, putting a little pout on your lip. “we should do this again, though. feels nice to just hang out with someone.”
“isn’t that what we’ve been doing in the library?” he questioned.
“i don’t count me making you help me with shakespeare as hanging out,” you explained.
“that’s fair.” he shrugged.
“also, this is the first time you initiated being around me,” you boasted, feeling pretty satisfied with yourself. “that means you think i’m fun.”
“i never said that.”
“well, you being here says otherwise. sooo...”
“whatever, brat.”
levi stood from his spot on the end of your bed, handing you his empty cup. you stood as well, following him to the door.
“i guess you’re okay,” he offered. “this was okay.”
“that translates to, omg y/n is the best, they’re sooo much fun,” you teased, nudging your elbow against his. “anyways, i guess i’ll see you in class on wednesday.”
“i guess you will,” he replied plainly, raising his hand to touch a strand of your hair, putting you in a state of shock. your mouth gaped slightly as you studied him curiously. after a few moments of silence, levi abruptly started leaning forward, your eyes widening. before you could react, his lips were against yours.
is this actually happening? you wondered. oh, my god it’s actually happening. this is real.
it took you no time to respond to the kiss, your eyes quickly fluttering shut. you hadnt been kissed a long time, and you remembered first kisses always being a little awkward as you both had to adjust to the way the other’s lips moved. but there was no awkwardness. there was no needing to adjust; it was perfect.
his movements were surprisingly fast and needy, his hands moving to hold your jaw as both of your quiet, desperate noises were swallowed. your hands came up to grip his neck, pulling him closer to deepen the kiss. you could feel little tingles everywhere he touched you, and a knot starting to form low in your stomach. you felt his tongue slip into your mouth as he moved his hands down to hold your waist, arching your back slightly. levi started to redirect you, pushing your back against the door, causing a loud thud against the wood.
“y/n? what was that?” a voice from the other side of the door called. your eyes flew open, seeing his steel eyes already looking back at you.
“shit!” you hissed. “my roommate.” you pulled your face away and took a deep breath, your hands still holding levi’s neck, and his still gripping your waist. you gazed at him for a moment, admiring his features. you hurriedly leaned in again, giving him one final, quick kiss.
“sorry! hold on!” you finally responded to your roommate as they started turning the doorknob. the two of you let one another go, quietly stepping away from the door that started to open.
“you won’t believe the night i-“ your roommate started, but freezing once they saw levi. their mouth dropped open and they glanced at you, shocked.
“sorry, he was just leaving,” you said, rushing to push levi through the open door. you followed him out, closing the door behind you. you sighed loudly.
“i’m sorry about that,” you told him quietly. he shrugged and slid his hands into his pockets. “i knew you liked me.”
“you’re okay,” levi replied, his eyes holding a warmth you had never seen from him before. “i’ll see you on wednesday.”
“yeah, yeah, see you wednesday,” you said, grinning as he turned around, making his way down the hallway.

"Armin... it hurts." You dazed off and felt nothing but sharp pains all over your body.
Your throat was dangerously dry, and your stomach grumbled from the lack of food you couldn't properly digest. You suffered from the feeling of a knife being pushed into your lungs and when you tried to pick up your head, black dots overtook your fuzzy vision. Every time you tried to move a muscle, the pain would exponentially heighten, and experienced your abdomen compress with an exorbitant amount of pressure.
"N-no please don't leave me yet. What about all our plans together? Going to the beautiful forest behind the hills for our anniversary next week, building a house to move in together, getting married, a-and start a family..." Armin's voice cracked as tears cascaded down his cheek and dripped onto your arm.
You sensed a soft warm hand grab yours which caused your heartbeat to quicken as you felt it coarse throughout your body.
This is the end.
You knew this was your last few moments on earth with your soulmate. It was over so fast. Too fast. You couldn't believe you wouldn't be able to fill the promises you made with your lover. This was your only and last chance at this life, and it was over in nineteen years, only four of them being spent with the person you thought you would grow old with
"Stay away... get sick..." You jerked your arm away from Armin unaware that you didn't feel the need to chug a gallon of water to quench your throat and that the nauseating feeling from hunger completely vanished as you kept slipping in and out of consciousness.
"Don't do this shit to me right now, I'm staying by your side no matter what." He lightly caressed your face not caring about the black lumps that engrossed your skin.
He knew he would become infected sooner or later and understood that this would be it for you even though he couldn't find it in himself to believe it.
"I-I-I'm sorry." You felt the back of your throat get knotted up but couldn't produce any tears.
You slowly moved your hand back down to your side, not feeling the aching pain that had taken over your body, as you barely brushed his fingertips.
"Baby, what are you apolo... not your fault." He looked down to your palm and intertwined his fingers with your cold limp hand. He trailed his eyes back up to your face and saw your closed eyes.
"Y/n?" His breathing became shallow and irregular as he gently shook your body in an attempt to bring you back to consciousness.
You lightly squeezed his hand with the last bit of energy you had in you; letting him know that you were still with him.
This isn't the last time... swear to you we'll find each other again... I'll... protect you. I lo..."
And that was it.
The last words you heard.
Passing away was more peaceful than you imagined. It was just like going to sleep, except you knew that you wouldn't wake up with Armin by your side.
...we'll find each other again...
His last words kept replaying in your mind before your brain completely shut off. It made you happy. He made you happy. You died happy knowing that there was a chance to meet him again, but who are you kidding, this was it. It's over now.
Right?
Present Day
"I don't know if going on a date is the best thing to do right now, Sasha. I just got out of a three-year relationship with Jean and that was really rough." You grab a bag of chips and plop yourself onto your bed.
"Comeeee onnnnnn, y/n, I think you would really get along with this guy. I mean he's smart and kind anddddddddd has a pretty face!" She walks up to you and quickly steals a chip from you.
"Hey! Well as tempting as your mystery man sounds, my professors decided to assign a shitload of work, so I have to get busy." You pull out the box of textbooks from under your bed as you mentally prepare yourself for a draining weekend.
"Ugh, you're hopeless. Well, I'm going with Niccolo for a while, so have fun with... that! But if you change your mind, I'll text you his number." She grabs a Twinkie and skips out of your dorm room.
You figure that maybe she's somewhat right, but you know it's too soon to go out with another person. You and Jean had been together since high school and only broke up because you agreed that both of you needed time to find yourselves in college. It's very apparent that you still have some type of feelings for him even if it isn't love and it certainly didn't help that he goes to the same school as you.
But it is college. Even though the love you have towards Jean is still slightly there, maybe going out with another person was what you need to get over him. Even then, you wasted all your high school years getting good grades and being an A+ student that you never got to enjoy yourself and you weren't going to mess it up again. Besides what's the worst thing that could happen?

While gazing at the contact, you can't quite explain the feeling you have in your stomach and could only call it excitement, but why?
You're just going out with a guy you've never even met before and for all you know, he could be some creepy perv who just wants to make you feel extremely uncomfortable for his own liking. You giggle to yourself as you keep on thinking of worst-case scenarios and become very aware of how in need you are of getting out of your dorm.
You sit and stare at your phone, wondering how to text someone who may not even remember his conversation about you with Sasha. But fuck it, it was just a date.

You feel your face warm up, excited to finally do something out of school and maybe have the possibility to meet someone who could be special. You waste no time sitting around, given that you had only an hour to look your best, and got ready.
You have ten minutes to spare after prepping yourself and decide to walk to the library a bit early. You head out of your dorm, still in disbelief that you're going out with someone who was a stranger. It's definitely more of an exhilarating feeling than a nervous one; this would be the second person you've ever gone out with, Jean being your first and only partner and you have to admit that you feel good. You could feel yourself growing as a person even if this was just a silly first date that could potentially mean nothing.
You make your way to the front of the library and right when you were about to open the door you hear your name being softly called out. You turn around and see a blonde boy with a blue-collar shirt and khakis.
Damn, you have no idea who this boy is and you don't care, but why is someone this gorgeous calling out to you? His doll-like skin complexion looks so soft and smooth while his shirt matches his blue eyes perfectly, and his khakis just adding on to his soft persona.
"Are you y/n?" He snaps you out of your thoughts and back to reality.
"Oh, um yes, and you're Armin? How did you know it was me?" You can't keep your eyes off of him. This is the mystery man that Sasha fixed you up with and, fuck, he's more beautiful than you could've pictured.
"Sasha showed me pictures of the two of you and I must say you're more stunning in person." His cheeks turn into a bright pink as he looks down, feeling as if he's embarrassing himself.
"Thank you and you're a lot more attractive than I ever imagined." You give him a friendly smile when he looks back up as he hears your compliment.
"The uh coffee shop is not far off-campus so we can walk if you like." He rubs the back of his neck, unsure how to begin your date.
"Yeah, that sounds great." You both walk together in awkward silence, not knowing how to start a chat with each other.
"So, Armin, what are you majoring in?" You turn your head towards him, but Armin seems to not want to make any eye contact with his hands in his pockets.
"Oceanography."
"That's cool, have you always loved the ocean or are you just experimenting with different fields?" You try to carry on with the conversation, hoping he would open up to your about his studies at the least.
"I've always loved the ocean."
"Are the classes you're taking pretty difficult?" You feel your face heat up as he continues to be difficult about continuing your attempted dialogue.
"No."
You start losing your patience with this boy. It frustrates you that no matter what you did he can't try to at least engage in the conversation. You knew from the beginning that this could've been a disaster, but it hadn't even started, and it's already exasperating.
You start to genuinely think of ideas to bail yourself out before it could get any worse, but no, you're going to finish this date whether it's awful or not and move on with your life. You told yourself you were evolving as a person and to bail would only be taking you a step back from the new you.
"How do you know Sasha," you ask him, making it your last-ditch effort to start a conversation as you arrive at the coffee shop.
"We met through a mutual friend at a party." He opens the door for you and both of you enter the cafe.
You and Armin are kindly greeted by the barista as you walk to to the cashier. Both of you order your drinks and sit at a table that's next to the glass wall.
"So, did you meet Sasha because you're dorm mates?" He finally ignites some type of conversation as he fidgets with his fingers.
"We actually somewhat knew each other through my ex-boyfriend and we randomly got paired to be dorm mates." You grin to yourself, thinking about how close you and Sasha got over the year.
Even if it was a bitter-sweet moment mentioning Jean, that you realize may not have been the best thing to do. You hear you and Armin's name being called, but right when you're about to get up Armin quietly spoke, "Stay here, I got it."
You watch him get up from his seat and walk back over to the cashier. He pulls out his brown leather wallet, pays for both of your drinks, and makes his way back to the table with a cup in each hand.
"Thank you for paying, you really didn't have to do that." You feel your cheeks get hot as you grab your drink, slightly grazing his fingers.
"It was no biggie." He shrugs his shoulder and slumps back to his seat.
Subsequently, the awkward silence is back, but a lot stronger than before. You can't understand why it's so difficult to get along with him if this was the date where you're supposed to get to know each other and have endless topics to discuss. You keep reassuring yourself that this would be over soon anyway and now you know that Armin just isn't the one for you and you're completely fine with that. At this point, you only see Armin as the boy you went on the most awkward date with and didn't even picture him as a friend.
"Sorry about this, I've never done anything like this before," he mumbles while tapping on the side of his cup, not wanting to look at you because he felt ashamed.
"O-oh, don't stress about it too much, it's my first date after getting out of my relationship so we're on the same boat." You both exchange warmhearted smiles, trying to break the tension but nothing seems to work.
"We can go back to campus. I have some assignments I need to finish up anyways," he suggests and you feel the weight being lifted off your shoulders. Even though Armin seems like a great person, both of you assume that your wavelengths couldn't match, and it was just best to end it.
"Yeah, that sounds good. I also need to catch up on schoolwork as well." Both of you grab your drinks and head back to school without trying to strike a conversation, knowing that it would just make the tension even more awkward.
As soon as you make it back to your dorm, you must say that you never feel happier to arrive in your shitty box.
"Well, thank you for the coffee and I hope you have a great weekend."
"Yeah, you too." You both wave bye and you walk into your dorm, feeling displeased.
While you didn't expect your date to be completely perfect and for you and Armin to fall in love, this was by far the last thing you wanted to happen.
It didn't take long for you to forget what had transpired as you change to comfortable clothes and start heavily working on your assignments. While you were finishing up on one of your worksheets, you feel your phone vibrate and see a text from Sasha.

hey roe! i love ur work! could i request a zuko x reader where the reader and the zuko have history and they meet at the boiling rock because the reader was imprisoned (either during the invasion or at the catacombs or whatever you think works) and there's a lot of angst and it ends with a kiss or something? tysm!!!
tysm!!!! It means a lot
but u gotta think bigger anon,,, boiling rock was full of firebenders... how abt a childhood friend who defected long, long ago, and zuko could’ve never known? hmm....
in watching the boiling rock for this ask I realize that the bois get into guard uniforms and hide their clothes on the beach. so like,,, did these two dumbasses just strip on the beach and b like “hey yeah bro this is cool”. they think nothing through. HOW DID THEY EVEN GET THE GUARD UNIFORMS IN THE FIRST PLACE-
Tumblr media
Sitting in a Boiling Rock cell wasn’t exactly one of Zuko’s top ten moments, but it sure wasn’t one of his lowest, either. He’d been tossed into a singular cell that as of yet didn’t even have a bed, the door shut in his face.
There came three quick knocks on the metal wall beside him, and he walked closer to it, curious.
“I heard you got thrown in for impersonating a guard,” came a voice on the other side, and Zuko regarded it with a healthy amount of susipicion.
“Yeah.”
“Nice,” said the voice, a little laugh following their words.
“What did you do?” asked Zuko, surprised that the voice sounded young, almost as young as himself, if he had to guess.
“Oh, I defected a long time ago. They weren’t too happy with my methods.” Zuko didn’t answer for a moment, and the person in the cell beside him took that as an opportunity to continue asking questions. “Seems like the warden wanted to punish you especially, putting you down here with this lot. Any idea why?”
“I dated his niece,” Zuko answered, his tone definitive, almost as though this information was obvious. There came a pause from the voice, and Zuko wondered what about this information was shocking. It wouldn’t be common knowledge who the warden’s niece is, would it? He thought that that would be safe information to reveal, without revealing his identity.
“Hey, how old are you?” The prisoner asked, breaking their silence. Zuko briefly considered, but decided not to lie.
“Uh, sixteen, why?”
“Zuko?” Zuko froze, and fixed his stare to the wall as though he could see through it if he glared hard enough.
“How do you know that?”
“It’s Y/N,” the voice said, and finally Zuko realized why the voice had seemed so young.
Y/N had been his friend, from academy, back before Zuko had turned twelve. Y/N was one year above him, but was a prodigy, studying under High General Bujing as young as ten years old. They were a dedicated student and a master of strategy as early as twelve- but disappeared at thirteen, never to be heard from again.
At least, by the young prince, whose father decided that telling the prince that his closest friend had attempted assassination on one of the high generals would fill the already ‘weak’ prince’s mind with ‘insubordinate ideals’.
And yet here they were.
“Y/N?” Zuko breathed, lifting his hand and pressing it to the metal, astonished. He had assumed that you were dead. “How are you here?”
“How am I here? I’m a criminal and a traitor, that’s obvious, how are you here?”
“Apparently I’m also a criminal and a traitor,” Zuko answered, and you laughed.
The assignment for the day was mopping, down in one of the lower rooms of the prison. You knew where to go, and yet the moment those doors opened you rounded the walls and hugged Zuko tightly.
“I never thought I’d see you again,” you whispered, and when you pulled away you noticed his scar. Gingerly you reached your hand upward, lightly laying your fingers against the skin, then resting the palm of your hand onto his face to fully cup his jaw.
“I knew that you’d been banished, but...” you trailed off, and slipped your hand around to the back of his neck to pull him into a tight hug.
“I wish I could’ve been there to save you,” you whispered, holding onto him. His arms wrapped around you in return, for just a moment, until a few guards shouted at the two of you to move along. Still, he walked beside you.
“What do you mean?” He asked, and you looked sideways at him.
“I knew your father was horrible, I knew the nation was horrible, that’s why I left it. But to do that to you, I...” you trailed off, and shrugged. “I guess I tell myself I should’ve brought you with me when I left.” His response was minimal, but you noticed it, the way he seemed intrigued by the thought, and slightly saddened that it hadn’t happened.
You had known of Suki, but you hadn’t formally met her until now. She was kind, and understood why another teenager was roped into the daring escape.
Sokka, on the other hand, wasn’t so pleased.
“Sokka, come on. Y/N has a better understanding of Fire Nation military strategy than anyone, even me.” Suki raised an eyebrow in your direction, to which you responded with a shrug. “We need them on our team.”
“The more we try to break out, the easier we’ll be caught. We can’t risk it.” You weren’t going to argue in your favor- in fact, the opposite.
“I’ve been in here for four years. I’m used to it, I’ll be fine,” you assured Zuko, but he shook his head. He grabbed Sokka by the shoulder and pulled him away, but underestimated your ability to eavesdrop.
“Look, we didn’t come here planning to break out Suki, but we are. Y/N is the same, for me, as Suki is to you. Okay?” Your eyes widened as you glanced to Suki, but she hadn’t caught it, and didn’t understand your surprise.
“Okay, fine,” Sokka said, breaking from Zuko’s grasp. He took a moment to ensure no one was around to listen. “I think I’ve got an escape plan.”
You’d stuck by Zuko when you were young, and you’d stick by him now, as traitors to your nation. Even if it meant giving up your only escape plan. He was loyal to Sokka, and you would be too, so you stayed behind, and bided your time, waiting for your next opportunity. Even if it meant listening to Mai scold Zuko through the walls. Sokka came to you with a new plan, though you had a sneaking suspicion you were the last of the group that he told, and when it came time to fight Azula on the gondola, you were one of the first to climb to the roof.
“Ah, Y/N, an old familiar face,” the princess said as she landed, taking in the sight of you and Zuko, side by side. “How quaint. An old traitor, and a new traitor. I’m ever so curious, Y/N, how you can claim to have any morality at all, betraying your nation twice now. Wasn’t it your own mentor you tried to kill?” You reacted in rage, and shot the first plume of fire.
The ride to the western air temple was a long one, filled as it was with jubilation, victory, and reunions. Zuko spent much of it trying to decide how to ask you in more detail about your past. You hadn’t said much to him about it, and he’d never been told, but Azula seemed to know well what had happened.
He didn’t want to push, but he wanted to know.
“Your mentor was General Bujing, right?” He asked, sitting beside you in the metal airship.
“Yeah,” you answered, your tone noncommittal.
“He was the general I stood up to. When I got banished.” Your gaze went to the young prince, and you realized just how little you knew about his past, since you left the fire nation. You also realized his tactic- to get you to share, he would share. You decided to cut him a break, and do it yourself.
You started with what he already knew.
“I lost my parents to the war when I was six. So I was sent to the academy, where they recognized my talent and rewarded me with apprenticeships and a home. Still, General Bujing was the closest I had to a parent.” You paused, and looked toward the front of the ship, where you could see clouds.
“But as I got older, and he put more questionable battle strategies on my exams, I began to see him not as a parent but as a person. And what I saw was, I assume, what you saw. Someone ruthless and angry, who didn’t believe in human life, or didn’t value it.” Zuko didn’t stop you, or interrupt. He merely listened.
“I was scared. And so I did reading, on what the Fire Nation was before Sozin, and what I saw was so much better than what I was raised in. I knew i couldn’t change much, but what I could do was get rid of an old General who would do the worst sort of things.” You looked down at your hands.
“It didn’t work. I was thirteen, of course it didn’t. But instead of killing me, he...” you trailed off, and turned your gaze away from Zuko.
“I was going to kill him, because I thought there wasn’t any good in him. And then he let me go. He spared me.” Zuko’s eyes widened, as what he knew of General Bujing, the man who would sacrifice a brigade of soldiers, did not seem to line up with what you were describing.
“I was arrested anyway, of course, but I thought for sure he’d kill me. He didn’t even challenge me to an Agni Kai. I still don’t...” you trailed off, and let your head thump back against the metal wall. “I still don’t understand.”
“People are complicated,” Zuko struggled out, seemingly trying to conjure some good-ol’-uncle-Iroh advice.
“Yeah,” you said with a breathless chuckle, and scooted a bit closer to him. “It’s good to see you again,” you said, leaning your shoulder against his. It was an odd situation to be in, because you’d last seen him when you were thirteen, and he twelve. But you knew, from what you overheard, that he felt something more for you. Something akin to Sokka and Suki, who you had noticed were clearly an explicitly romantic couple. Because of it you felt it appropriate to notice how much he’d... grown. He was older, now, and his hair was nice, and his cheekbones high, his jawline defined, not to mention an obviously master firebender. You envied that talent, as the only bending you had was leftover from your training, that ended at thirteen.
“It’s good to see you too,” he said, which you barely heard over your thoughts. You didn’t want to make him uncomfortable, as obviously Mai was a very fresh wound, but you knew his feelings were there, and wanted in subtle ways to make him realize that his choices were accepted, welcomed, to you.
You wondered if he was having similar thoughts, noticing how you’d changed since he last saw you.
The moon was high by the time the airship docked at the western air temple. You’d fallen asleep on the metal floor (you’ve slept in worse places), and Zuko decided to wake you up so that you could move to one of the bedrooms up high in the temple.
He crouched beside you, and nudged your shoulder. When that didn’t rouse you, he sat down, deciding to take a moment to study your sleeping face. He brushed back some of your hair from your face, silent in his appreciation.
He’d wake you up. In a minute.
For now, he wanted to lean down, and kiss your forehead.
When he pulled away, he noticed your eyes were open. A smile spread to your lips, and you pushed back your tiredness to respond to the moment in front of you.
“Want to try again, now that I’m awake?”

You watched in awe as your favorite female volleyball player soared through the air before spiking the ball—too quick and powerful to be blocked by any players of the opposing team—and winning the final point. The glow of your phone lit up your dark room as you chose another video, not caring that it was already 3 am and you had school tomorrow. You watched again as she received balls and sent kill shots over the net. All you wanted was to be like her, to be a pro volleyball player. You joined the support class by force, courtesy of your parents, after they noticed the amazing grades you were getting and realized how much money you could make to help the family. You didn’t complain, not when your parents needed help, but sometimes you wish you did. Being a volleyball player was all you wanted, but you were too late. You can’t stop with the support course now, you can’t start training harder now, you can’t get good enough to get into schools focused on sports, and you can’t get good enough for when recuirters and scouts come to find people worthy of scholarships. Sighing deeply, your eyes watering slightly, you set your phone down and curled into your pillow, falling asleep so you could go through another day you were forced to be living.
Waking up that morning, all your thoughts from a few hours ago came rushing back. You would never be good enough to be a pro. Never be able to do what you really wanted. You moved slowly around your room, putting on your uniform. You felt drained and all you could think about was having to be an engineer. Never being able to play on the same court as any of your favorite volleyball players. You would forever be stuck just watching, your skills going to waste. Finished with putting on your uniform, you walked towards the common room, going to breakfast, though you weren’t up for much of an appetite. You sit down next to Hatsume, placing your bag in your lap and clutching it tightly, while staring at your plate. You move the food around but never eat, nodding thoughtlessly as Hatsume talks about “baby 229”. When everyone finally finsished, except you, you all walk in a group to homeroom. You perked up slightly when you saw your boyfriend, Bakugo Katsuki, waiting next to the door for you.
“Oi, dumbass, what’s up with you?” Katsuki barked out, seeing you walking behind the others instead of making stupid jokes with your classmates like usual.
“Nothing Suki. I’m fine.” You say giving a soft smile, your arms itch to hug him, looking for comfort. But you would never force him to do that with his uncomfort towards pda.
He looks back at you with concern, masked by a glare before muttering a small ‘I love you, don’t be stupid’ and walking off to class.
You go back to class, feeling slightly better after seeing Katsuki, and listen to Power Loader drone on about upcoming events and assignments. When it’s finally time to go to the lab, the stressful, pained feeling you had before comes back again. You look at the parts around you and nothing comes to mind. No invention or idea. But the self-pity comes back, taking over your thoughts instead. Here you are, doing something you don’t even like. But it doesn’t matter, not like you have enough skill to be a professional volleyball player anyways. And these thoughts make you feel even worse. You’re supposed to be doing this for your family. You were in this course for your family, and all you wanted was to leave. You’re selfish, only thinking about what you want. Your mind was contradicting itself, making the self-hatred you were feeling even worse. Tears were slightly welling in your eyes again, but you work through them, opting on tinkering with an older invention. Your brain is too distracted to work on anything new. Everyone around you grew weary at your lack of jokes that only you find funny, and how you haven’t ran to Hatsume once to show her something you were working on. You were a good student, building amazing things, and being one of the few people who could actually work with Bakugo, that being the way you met. But today you were clearly out of it.
The minute class ended, you sped off to your dorm, not waiting for Katsuki like usual. Sitting on your bed, your hands were shaking. Each minute you were forced to work on inventions, the melancholy thoughts became worse. You looked at the poster on your wall, the person you aspired to be the most hanging there, spiking a ball over the net. And then you broke down, the stress of your thoughts building up. Tears streamed down your face, and you felt terrible for crying over something so stupid. But you couldn’t stop. All you wanted since you were a little girl was to soar on a court. You were starting to shake, your hands trembling and your body rocking back and forth. You were going to be stuck being an engineer. Being forced to stay here and build things just to support your parents with money. You could have supported your parents by professionally playing volleyball, but it was too late. You would never be good enough. Not for yourself, or your family. Your breath started to get caught in your throat as you began sobbing, your breathing becoming shallower and shallower. You couldn’t breathe. Everything was suffocating you. Your sobs got louder as you tried to gasp for air, but no breath got through, causing your tears to speed up. The trembling moved from just your hands to your entire body; your shaking becoming worse. You didn’t know what to do, the attack was taking over.
But then you heard loud knocks on your door.
“Dumbass, let me in.” You couldn’t respond through your attack, but you opened your mouth letting out a whining sob. “Shitty woman, are you ok?” Katsuki says now, his voice filled with concern.
“I’m coming in.” You heard Bakugo yell, before your door was kicked open.
Katsuki took in your shaking body and the fear that was displayed over your features and rushed over to you. His hands hesitantly went to touch you, but you jerked away at his touch. Your lack of breath caused your hands to begin to travel towards your throat and your body was beginning to shake more violently. Katsuki was frozen, scared to touch you again, but the way your hands were beginning to claw at your throat—trying to get in breath—urged him to grab your hands. You tried desperately to pull away, but he holds your shaking hands in his tight grip. Then small whispers begin to fall from his lips.
“Y/N, shh calm down. I’m here.” His whispers were shaky, his fear for you growing.
“Focus on my voice. Come on,” he takes your hands and presses them to his chest. “follow my breathing. Just breathe.”
You continue to listen to his soft whispers and your breathing slows down, becoming less erratic. Your violent shaking toned down, as you were now only rocking back and forth. Though your tears didn’t relent, still coming out as painful sobs.
“I’m here. Y/N, baby, I’m here for you.”
You finally took in normal breaths and Bakugo noticed, hesitantly placing his hand on your shoulder, gaging whether or not he could touch you yet, but the way you leaned into his arm caused him to pull you close to his body. His hands rubbed circles on your back, and your sobs finally began to slow into small sniffles. When you finally stopped shaking completely and your sniffles only happened every few minutes, did he begin talking.
“Oi, Y/N, what’s wrong?” Katsuki whispered out, still using a soft voice, sounding so different from his usual brash self.
You didn’t respond, deciding to just nuzzle your face into his chest.
“Dumbass, don’t rub your snot into my chest. Y/N, what’s wrong.” He said, his voice still soft. You took your face off his chest to look into his eyes, that shown with concern at your current state.
“I just, I’m sorry.” He made an annoyed noise at your unnecessary apology. “I’m just, not good enough. All I’ve wanted was to be a volleyball player but I’m here and I feel like a failure for not being happy, I mean, I go to U.A, but I just wish I got to do what I want.” Your voice was choking up, but now that you started you couldn’t stop. “I’m never going to be able to play volleyball. And I, I used to be like good, but now I haven’t played in like a year, because of school and I just want to. It’s all I want. But my parents need me to do this. It’s all they want from me. And I’m such a failure. I can’t do this, and I can’t be a volleyball player. Even if I tried, where would I go for it. It’s not like I can practice to be good enough to be a pro if I go here. It’s all too much. And, I’m so sorry, I should be happy to be here. With you. I shouldn’t be crying over something so dumb.” Your tears are back and you’re choking on your words.
Katsuki didn’t respond as you finished. His eyes were wide with an emotion you couldn’t identify. Your heart started to race and you refused to meet his gaze. What if he wanted to leave you because you didn’t want to go here? What if your dissatisfaction with being at U.A made him mad? It was such an esteemed school and you were just taking advantage of it. Katsuki let out a sigh and put his hands on the sides of your face, guiding your eyes to his.
“Y/N, I love you and if you want to be a fucking pro volleyball player then you fucking should. It’s your damn life. And if you don’t want to be a badass engineer then be a badass volleyball player. We can make it work if you leave U.A.” His voice starts off soft, but quickly reverts back to his usual rough voice in an attempt to show his support.
You let out a smile in response to his words, though small tears still fell from your eyes. But your smile turned to a little frown as you thought about how impossible it was that your parents would let you go to one of the sports academies nearby. But even if they did, you weren’t good enough to get in. Not anymore.
“Katsu, my parents won’t ever let me and even if they do, I’m not good enough to get into schools that focus on sports, I mean I’m in the support course. I never practice anymore either, I’m too busy.” You say sadly, but flash him a small smile to say thanks for trying.
“Shut the fuck up dumbass, you won’t know unless you try. You’re not a failure until you give up shitty woman. And I, Bakugo Katsuki, would never date a shitty ass failure. Besides you’re great, I’ve seen you play at the beach and shit.” He barks out, blushing when he brings up you playing.
You pause, thinking over his words, before a growing smile appears on your face. “I guess you’re right.” You say while a big grin settles on your face. “Thanks Suki, I love you.” You say softly.
“I always am.” Katsuki yells back, a prideful smirk covering his face. “And I love you too, Dumbass.” He says before placing a small peck onto your forehead.
You smile widely before nuzzling back into his chest, his arms wrapping around your back. You were going to try. You were going to try your hardest to soar through a court. To be the volleyball player you wanted to be. You knew you could be. And it was all because of Katsuki.

Tumblr media
On a spring afternoon, Draco told you:
"You're wrong, you know?"
Your eyebrow arched. "Why do you say that?"
"Because it's true" he chuckled.
"Draco" you turn your body so you can face your Slytherin boyfriend "I'm sure we spoke for the first time in Hogsmeade."
"You're wrong" he repeated, still with a presumptuous and funny tone.
You huffed. "So, will you tell me when we first spoke?"
"Professor Slughorn had just passed us an assignment on Everlasting Elixirs..." Draco smothered a laugh when he saw your eyes widen.
"Oh no..."
"Oh yes"
And in fact, Draco was right.
The first time you spoke was after a Potions class during your sixth year. You had stayed in the classroom to ask some questions to Professor Slughorn about the assignment you were supposed to do, and for this reason, you were late for your next class.
You ran down the corridors to get to the Charms classroom, but you always were a little clumsy and stumbled on your own feet. For your luck - very lucky - you find something to hold on to: the platinum blond boy's robes in front of you.
Draco is pulled back when he feels something grabbing on his Slytherin robe. "Hey, be more careful" he said angry and when he turned to find out who had dared to do such a thing, he sees you and, for a moment, he is lacking of words.
The Slytherin boy kinda knows you.
"The Ravenclaw girl that smells like baby lotion and vanilla. What is her name...?"
But he didn’t have time to ask you anything because the second you two run into each other, you start saying, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry..." and quickly pick up your stuff that fell to the ground before running back to your next class.
He realized that you missed your quill. Unwittingly, Draco opened a smile and picked up the object, keeping it in his pocket.
"You stole my quill!" you exclaimed, pointing a finger in the direction of your boyfriend. "I've been looking for it for days!"
"In my defense, I wanted to give it back to you," Draco explains, "but you always ran away from me.
Once again, he was right: you, in fact, tried your best to avoid any contact with Slytherin boy; this was because you were aware of his arrogant fame and didn't want to hear any unpleasant words, but this never happened.
"Here" Draco extends to you the quill.
A surprised look appears on your face when you take the familiar object in your hands. "Have you kept it all this time?" you ask with curiosity.
He shrugs. "I was waiting for an opportunity to give it back to you, but..."
"But?" you insist.
"We met at Three Broomsticks... so I decided to keep it to myself."
Months after that first "conversation", you and Draco met again.
You were entering the pub at the same instant he was leaving; and for the second time, you bumped into each other.
"Can you tell me if this will become an annoying habit?" the blond asked in irritation.
But you ignored him completely, your neck rising up and looking around the place, searching for something; apparently your friends hadn't finished their shopping at Honeydukes yet.
Draco snapped his fingers in front of you, catching your attention - hating to be ignored.
"Ah" you gasped, remembering the Slytherin boy’s presence "I'm sorry, I thought I was late and...".
"Is that why you're still wearing a towel?" he questioned amusingly, pointing towards your neck.
To your horror, you still carried your Lion King towel over your shoulders and thought you would regret for all eternity to embarrass yourself in front of Draco freaking Malfoy, but fate had a funny way of executing its plans.
"But what's this weird thing?" was the question that started your relationship with Draco.
The second time you talked was much longer than the first; you sat at a table at Three Broomsticks and drank butterbeer while you told Slytherin boy the story of Simba.
Draco hadn't found the story super interesting, but he had definitely loved being able to feel your baby lotion and vanilla perfume more. He had loved to hear the sound of your voice. He hadn't been able to take his eyes off you while you made exaggerated gestures with your hands trying to describe scenes from the children's movie - he thought you looked beautiful, very beautiful.
You said goodbye to each other when your friends showed up next to your table holding Honeydukes' bags. And you thought you would never talk to Draco Malfoy again, but you were wrong, because, that night, he went to sleep thinking about you.
The third time you talked was the next day when Draco kicked out your partner from Potions to sit next to you. Professor Slughorn couldn't care less about the exchange of partners and gave you an assignment to do in pairs.
As you continued talking with him, you realized that the blond Slytherin boy might not be so unpleasant.
The first time your heart beat faster when you were in Draco's presence was when he held your hand when you were about to add an ingredient to the potion you should prepare together.
"Silly girl" he had said with a smile "you have to prick it first.
Then, one afternoon you were in Hogwarts library, researching in several books what you could include in the Potions report that you should write in pairs.
"We should put this" Draco pointed to a line on the book's page.
It took you a few seconds to read what was written and you shook your head. "No, no."
"Why not?" The blond frowned.
"Because it's too obvious!" you huffed. "I bet everyone will write the same thing."
"Maybe because it's right?" he said almost incredulous.
"Writing something right, but still different is what will make us stand out," you winked.
And it was on that day that Draco Malfoy realized that he might be in love with you.
Your first kiss was a few days before the end of the school year, after a hard exams period, you were sharing a couch on Slytherin's common room and a chocolate frog.
"I got dirty?" you asked after licking the chocolate leftovers from your fingers, turning to Draco. Unconsciously, you tilted your head to the side and your lips curved up in a little smile - at that moment, Draco thought you had never looked so cute, but at the same time, so irresistible.
Without answering your question, he brought his face close to yours, connecting your lips in a sweet kiss.
You and Draco were together, but you were not dating.
During the summer, you exchanged letters almost every day. You had gotten used to Draco's presence, it was weird not being with him.
When September arrived again, you didn't waste any time and got in the train, looking for the platinum blond who occupied your thoughts the whole time, but it was him who found you.
You two shared a cabin - and nobody dared to join you.
"Ah" you extended a bag that you were carrying in Draco's direction "this is for you".
The Slytherin boy looked at you surprised - and a little terrified.
"Is that a gift? I didn't even buy her a gift... did I have to buy a gift? Will she be upset? What if she...", but his thoughts were interrupted when you said, "It's just some cookies. I promise it's not poison or anything" with a playful smile on your face.
Draco didn't know you could bake, but he was pleasantly surprised to find out - especially since your cookie was delicious.
And that was the day he was sure that he fell in love with you.
He asked you to be his girlfriend on a Christmas morning in Hogwarts right after giving you a nice necklace as a gift.
And since then, you had brought Draco a joy he had never felt before - and which he never thought he could feel.
Your favorite pastime was to go to Three Broomsticks and drink butterbeer together while you talked about the most diverse subjects.
And Draco still loved to hear you talking about Lion King.
That same spring afternoon, you and Draco were in Slytherin's common room; he was sitting on an armchair and you were on his lap.
"You know, I still think you should watch Lion King with me," you say, your fingers brushing through your boyfriend's platinum blond wires.
"I rather hearing you telling the story to me" Draco answers with a smile, giving a kiss in the corner of your mouth. "Besides, we need to finish that Potions assignment."
"Oh no, let's stay like this a little bit longer."
"But that's for two days from now."
"Hakuna Matata, Draco. Hakuna Matata."
"Hakuna Matata?"

soulmate au
For the following characters : Bakugou Katsuki, Kaminari Denki, Todoroki Shouto, Midoriya Izuku, Amajiki Tamaki
warnings : language
“Do you think our soulmates might be in our class?” asked Ochaco, a smile plastered on her face.
You frowned. Hoping that your soulmate was in your school, least of all your class, was just a lost cause. There’s a low chance of meeting your soulmate. And even if you did, it could be possible that the two of you never figure it out. Or there could be an unrequited love.
You’re supposed to have a matching mark. It’s located on your wrist, and it disappears once - or in most cases, if - you fall in love with your soulmate.
But, right now, soulmates were the least of your worries as you walked with your friend all the way to UA; a place you thought you’d never get into.
Bakugou Katsuki -
He didn’t believe in the whole soulmate scenario. That’s why Bakugou kept his mark covered whenever he could. He didn’t want to meet his soulmate. Because he didn’t know what he would think if he did.
But when he saw you at the dorms, a small blue explosion on the inside of your bare wrist, he couldn’t process the newfound information.
“Hey, Bakugou! Are you still going to help me study tonight? We have that test tomorrow, and I really need your help!” You grabbed his arm, and Bakugou hated the fact that he became flustered from the familiar action. The two of you somehow became “friends”, even with your cheerful personality and his bad attitude.
“Whatever. Get your shit and hurry up.” Bakugou pulled away and left for his room.
You smiled and ran to your room to grab your notebook and some of the assignments you needed help with.
*-•°•-*
“Can I just sleep here? Aizawa will be pissed if he finds me wandering around the boys’ dorms at two in the morning.” You yawned and set your notebook aside.
“That’s why I told you to leave, hours ago!” he yelled, causing you to laugh. You somehow found humor in his overly-dramatic anger. “But fine, you can sleep on the bed-”
“You want me to sleep in your bed with you? I feel honored!” You smirked when he glared at you.
“I was going to say…” he tried to keep his cool this time. “I’ll sleep on the floor.”
“Aww… that’s no fun. I promise I don’t bite!”
“Shut up and turn around while I change.”
“Why? Scared I’ll see your mark?”
He didn’t say anything.
You covered your eyes, flopping back onto his bed. “I still can’t believe I got you to stay up this late.” You peeked through your fingers, hoping to get a glimpse of his soulmate mark. And you were able to see it. When you did, you fell off the bed in shock.
“Shit! What the hell are you doing, (l/n)?!” he yelled, pulling on a sweatshirt.
“K-Katsuki! Why didn’t you tell me?!” he lifted you from the ground, ignoring your yelling.
“What the fuck are you talking about?!” You saw the look of worry on his face that he tried to cover up with yelling.
You grabbed his sleeve and pulled it up so that you could see his mark. The blue explosion that was the exact same as yours. A mix of your water manipulation quirk and his ability to create explosions from his sweat.
“You’ve seen my mark multiple times! Why didn’t you tell me?!” You felt hurt, and you just wanted to forget about this situation, but it’s too late now. “Mine disappeared a few days ago…”
“I didn’t…”
“What, Katsuki?!”
“I didn’t want to see your reaction.” He sat down on the bed in defeat. What is up with him today?
You sat down next to him. “And what’s that supposed to mean?”
“It means I l-like you, (l/n) (y/n).”
Your heart started to race at his meaningful statement. “Aww… I like you too, Katsuki!” You smiled and wrapped your arms around him. This was one of the very rare moments in which Bakugou opened up to you. And you would accept it any day.
Tumblr media
Kaminari Denki -
“Oh my god! (y/n), Kaminari has that same mark on his wrist! I saw it the other day!” Mina squealed, jumping up and down.
“You are very excited over this…” You watched as Mina smiled and grabbed her phone. “What are you doing, Mina…?”
“I’m texting Ochaco. She said that whoever finds your soulmate first will get a free meal from the other.”
You gave her a look of confusion. “But what if you never found my soulmate?”
“Then I’d live a very sad life, (y/n).”
You rolled your eyes and grabbed your phone when you heard it go off. It was a message from Ochaco.
human floaty: U FOUND UR SOULMATE W/O ME???
human floaty: IM COMING TO UR ROOM RN
“Ochaco’s coming over,” you said quietly. Mina grabbed your phone from your hands. “HEY!”
“Why is there a picture of you and Kaminari as your wallpaper?” She smirked at you and scrolled through your contacts.
“What are you doing with my phone?”
“Calling him.”
“WHAT?! STOP!” You reached for your phone, a spark of electricity accidentally flying from your fingertip. That’s right. You have the same quirk as Kaminari, except you can shoot red electricity. It was caused by your mother’s fire quirk.
“I didn’t call him.” Mina tossed me the phone. “I texted him. He wouldn’t be able to hear me if I called since you keep screaming.”
A knock was heard at your door, and, expecting it to be Ochaco, you stood up to answer it. You did not expect to see your friend, crush, and soulmate - Kaminari Denki, standing at your door frame. “Denki? W-What are you-”
“Let me see your mark!” he yelled frantically, grabbing your arm.
He put his arm next to yours, comparing the two soulmate marks. A lightning bolt. Half yellow, half red.
Then it disappeared.
“You love me?!” you looked up at him in embarrassment once you saw the mark disappear from his wrist.
“You love me?!”
You both didn’t predict someone to shove Kaminari into you and cause your lips to clash together in an unexpected kiss.
Ochaco gave Mina a discreet thumbs up from her place behind Kaminari.
Tumblr media
Todoroki Shouto -
You have two soulmate marks. So you figured it would be easier to find your soulmate with that kind of mark. You even thought of the possibility that you might have two soulmates. But that was impossible. One of them was a flame. The other was a red and blue flower. The second mark made sense, considering your quirk gives you the ability to cover the area in plants with your bare hands. It’s pretty useful in combat since you can just wrap vines around someone.
But one day, the marks just disappeared, meaning that your soulmate had fallen in love with you. That also means that you’ve met them before, which narrowed down the possibilities.
You didn’t even want a soulmate. You already heart set on someone else. So imagine your surprise when you heard Midoriya asking Todoroki about his two soulmate marks, and how they had disappeared a few weeks ago… When you realized you liked Todoroki…
You walked up to them during lunch and slammed your hands down on the table, trying to be intimidating. “Todoroki. Can I talk to you?” He nodded, waiting for you to say something. “Alone, please?”
Midoriya, Iida, and Uraraka quickly left the table. “What did your soulmate marks look like?”
“One was a flame. The other was a flower. Why?”
Your eyes widened. “You’re my soulmate…”
Tumblr media
Midoriya Izuku -
“I like you!”
“Huh?” You jumped slightly when Midoriya suddenly said this during lunch.
You didn’t figure him as the type of person to have feelings for another person at this time. He was too focused on his studies and on becoming a pro hero, but apparently, that wasn’t as true as you thought it to be.
“You… like me…?” You didn’t believe it. Honestly, who would want someone like you? You have a quirk that poisons people. You can’t be a hero with a quirk that only hurts people, yet you got into UA - under the hero course - anyway.
“Yes.” He nodded, still bowing his head to you so you couldn’t see his expression.
“Why?” you asked, picking at the food on your tray with a solemn look. He was probably dared to do it. You never thought that it was possible for someone to like you.
He grabbed your arm and showed you his wrist. “You like me too, dont you?” Both his arm and your’s were free of the soulmate mark that was a green skull.
“I do…” You smiled when he pressed a kiss to your cheek.
Someone in this world - your soulmate - does like you. Love you.
Tumblr media
Amajiki Tamaki -
You smiled at the small sun on your wrist. The other girls in your class were showing off their marks, and you had a sudden appreciation for your own.
“Your soulmate must be a cheerful person,” said Ochaco, smiling over at you.
You shrugged. “It doesn’t matter to me.”
“Hey, aren’t you going to meet up with Nejire and her friend later?” Mina asked. When you nodded, she asked, “Can I come?”
“Sorry, no, I’m supposed to meet her at a café with Tamaki,” you said, grabbing your phone and your backpack. “I should actually be going right now.”
“Why didn’t you tell us?! We could’ve helped you prepare!”
*-•°•-*
“She isn’t coming, is she?” You sighed, leaning your head against the window of the café.
The boy in front of you shrugged, still trying to call Nejire from his phone.
“Maybe we should just go, Tamaki…” you whispered, turning off your phone and putting it in the front pocket of your backpack.
“We could s-stay.”
“I mean… If you want to.”
“I-If you don’t-”
“Tamaki, I want to stay.” You smiled and grabbed onto his hand.
“Okay…” A blush crept onto his face as you fiddled with his hand. “What are you doing…?”
You heard your phone ringing from your backpack, so you went to grab it. When you reached into the pocket, you noticed that the mark on your wrist was gone.
“U-Um… Tamaki? Do you mind if I see your soulmate mark?”
He held out his arm, expecting to see that small familiar sun. Imagine his surprise when he saw nothing.
“It was a sun… I don’t-” He was cut off by your lips being pressed against his. You felt him flinch at the sudden action, but that didn’t stop him from hesitantly putting his hands on your waist.
“Ahem!” You both pulled away, not meeting each other eyes as you scooted away from each other. “I see you two are getting along just fine…”
You glared at Nejire as she laughed at your embarrassment.

Davey’s just gotten out of class—literally just walked out the door—when his phone starts ringing.
“Davey,” Tony says the moment he answers, not even giving Davey time to say hello, “can you swing by the apartment real quick?”
Davey sighs. “Are you locked out of the house again?”
There’s a guilty silence. Then, “Or maybe I just wanna see you, huh? You don’t know.”
“Tony.”
“Charlie’s the one that lost the spare,” Tony capitulates immediately, there’s an indignant “Hey!” somewhere in the background, “and I left my keys in my locker ‘cause I thought Charlie had his—”
There’s a scuffle of noise, then Charlie’s voice breaks in, “—don’t listen to him Davey, I asked him before we even got on the subway if he had his keys and he said he did but he didn’t even check—”
“—well, I thought you had yours, didn’t I?—”
“—and he was twenty minutes late picking me up from band practice because he was too busy making out with Spot Conlon to come help me carry my stuff—”
“—that was supposed to be a secret you little shit!”
“—you started it!”
Davey pulls the phone away from his ear as the other side of the line descends into a mess of indistinct yelling. He thinks about trying to get their attention, but he decides to just start heading towards the apartment, muting his side of the call while he waits them out—they’ll remember him eventually.
In the meantime, Davey sends a quick text:
Tony and Charlie locked themselves out of the house again
He’s not expecting a response, but Jack must be in-between projects because he gets one almost immediately.
jc again?
And you’re going to have to get a new spare made
fuck okay i’ll take care of it. are you heading over?
I’m walking there now
ur the light of my life dave
Davey can’t help but smile at this, a soft feeling fluttering in his chest. Before he can write back, Jack sends another text:
how did ur midterm go?
I feel good about it! Def did better than I thought it would!
duh youve been living in the library all week ofc ur gonna do great. ill swing by the grocery omw home and pick up some ice cream to celebrate. do we need anything else while im there?

fuck yes im starving! can we do garlic bread too?
Come home on time and we’ll see.
u drive a hard bargain. kerian owes me a favor so he can stay late tonight lol
“Davey?” The sound of Charlie’s voice, tinny and muffled, prompts Davey to lift his phone back to his ear; it seems like he might’ve been calling Davey’s name for a while. “Are you still there?”
“I’m still here,” Davey confirms.
“So are ya comin’ or what?” Tony cuts in, ever impatient. “I’m roasting out here!”
“Well, I was thinking about leaving you to ruminate on your poor life choices,” Davey responds dryly, “but I guess I can come let you in, since you asked so nicely.”
“Thanks, Davey,” Charlie says.
“I’ll be there soon,” Davey confirms.
“Hurry, will ya? Much longer and I’m gonna get heatstroke and die,” Tony declares.
Davey rolls his eyes. “Goodbye, Tony.”
00000
When he arrives at Jack’s building some twenty minutes later, Davey finds Tony and Charlie right where he expects them: crowded together in the little bit of shade the roof’s overhang offers, wearing identical grumpy expressions that brighten immediately when they spot him approaching.
"Finally!" Tony exclaims, shooting to his feet. "What took you so long?"
“Stop losing your keys and you won’t have to wait for me,” Davey counters, slotting his key into the deadbolt and hefting open the heavy exterior door. He props it open with his hip and lets Tony and Charlie scurry past him into the AC. “You couldn’t get anyone to buzz you in?”
“Old Man Davis hasn’t gotten his hearing aid replaced yet,” Charlie explains as they climb the stairs up to the second floor, “and Mrs. Ikeda isn’t home.”
“She joined a new book club,” Tony adds. “She won’t be back till late.”
“Oh, I’ll have to ask her about it when I see her next,” Davey muses.
He gets the apartment door unlocked and the boys pile inside, tossing their backpacks down with dramatic groans of relief.  Charlie makes a beeline for his bedroom; Davey expects Tony to do the same but he takes a seat at the kitchen table instead, booting up his laptop with a couple of keystrokes.
“I’ve got a paper due in English tomorrow,” Tony explains. “Can you look it over once it’s finished? Maybe later this evening”
“Of course,” Davey replies. “What’s it on?”
“Lord of the Flies.”
Davey’s nose wrinkles up. “Oh, I hated that one. What’s the essay prompt?”
“Identify Golding’s argument about human nature as proposed in Lord of the Flies,” Tony reads off the top of the assignment outline. “Then make an argument agreeing or disagreeing with his assessment, using evidence from the text.”
Davey rolls his eyes. “Good to see that high school literature classes haven’t changed much in the last few years,” he says with a sigh. “How much have you written so far?”
“Oh, I haven’t even started it yet,” Tony casually rebuts.
“Is everything going okay?” Davey asks, frowning slightly. “If things are getting worse we can make an appointment—”
But Tony waives his concerns aside. “Nah, this is regular old procrastination, not ADHD procrastination. Like ya said, Lord of the Flies sucks ass, so I just didn’t want to write it.”
“Well, let one of us know if you start having trouble,” Davey says.
"Okay, mom,” Tony agrees, somewhat distracted. He’s already got a blank document pulled up on his laptop, a battered and thoroughly dog-eared copy of the book laying open beside him.
Davey looks at him for another moment, then he shrugs and continues making his way into the kitchen—he figures there’s no need to worry unless Racer starts actually missing assignments. And he’s right: Lord of the Flies does suck ass.
By the time Jack gets home they’re each fully entrenched in different activities: Davey’s washed a sink full of dishes and is working on drying the last few pieces of silverware, Tony is still posted up at the kitchen table, carefully hammering out a draft of his paper, and there are the familiar sounds of Charlie working through different musical scales on his oboe in the back bedroom.
“Honey, I’m home!” Jack calls jokingly as he enters. There’s a rustle of plastic and soft thunk of the front door closing behind him, then he comes around the corner into the dining room with an armful of groceries.
“Hey, Jack,” Davey greets absently. He starts rifling through the bags almost before Jack can finish putting them down. “Did you get the tomato—?”
“I got the tomato paste,” Jack says, kicking off his shoes and leaving them in the entryway with all the others, “and I picked up some more of that fancy coffee you like from the place around the corner, even though it’s expensive as all hell.”
“Don’t judge me,” Davey replies, gathering up an armful of vegetables and carrying them further into the kitchen. “You spend a semester grading 'Intro to Shakespeare' homework and tell me how much caffeine you consume.”
“I’m just saying, the rest of us schmucks drink regular coffee and do just fine,” Jack continues. “You can feed your crippling caffeine addiction just as well with Folgers and it’ll cut down on the grocery bill.”
“Watch it, Kelly,” Davey says, pointing a finger teasingly in Jack’s direction. “Smartasses don’t get dinner.”
“‘s that so?” Jack asks with a grin. “Then why the hell are we still feeding Tony?”
“I heard that,” Tony grumbles from the kitchen table.
“Yeah, you were supposed to,” Jack says, moving over to Tony and slinging an arm around his shoulders, pulling him into a side hug. Tony bats at Jack’s hand but makes no real attempt to get away. Then Jack says, “So, I hear you and your brother lost another set of keys.”
Tony throws Davey a look of the deepest betrayal. “You told Jack?”
“Of course he did,” Jack says. “Someone’s gonna have to get new ones made, and it sure ain’t gonna be either half of the dynamic duo.”
“Charlie lost the spare,” Tony says, mercilessly throwing Charlie under the bus while he’s not in the room to defend himself. “And I didn’t lose my keys, I just left them in my locker.”
“Uh huh, save it for the judge,” Jack responds, ruffling Tony’s hair. “Just know if I end up having to change the deadbolt, it’s coming outta your subway money.”
“Jackie, leave Tony alone,” Davey comments mildly over Tony’s spluttering protests. “He needs to work on that paper and you’re distracting him.”
“Yeah, Jack,” Tony repeats, a little smug. “You’re distracting me.”
Davey turns to look at him, one eyebrow raised. Tony quickly busies himself with his homework.
Davey makes quick work of washing a green pepper and peeling an onion, then starts dicing both into small, neat pieces. He feels more than hears Jack sidle up behind him: the familiar weight of his gaze, the solid presence at his back. He stands there quietly, leaning against the counter-top and just watching Davey cook; unbothered, Davey leaves him be for the moment and moves to the stove, scraping the chopped vegetables off the cutting board and into a pan to start softening.
After a few minutes of comfortable silence, Davey glances over his shoulder at Jack and says, “Are you just going to stand there or are you going to help me with this? You know there’s no loitering in my kitchen.”
“Well, I’m nothin’ if not a law abidin’ citizen,” Jack drawls in answer, the corner of his mouth quirking up. He rolls up his shirt sleeves, exposing the long, muscular line of his forearms, and washes his hands in the kitchen sink. “Where do you want me?”
Davey licks his lips. “Think you can handle browning the hamburger?”
“I’m sure I can manage,” Jack responds with a smirk.
Davey steps out of the way, letting Jack take his place in front of the sauce pan while he gets a pot of water set up on a different burner, salting it so it boils faster. They settle into their familiar dinner-routine, moving around and past each other with ease as they work on getting everything ready, chattering idly all the while.
“I’ve gotta head back out this evening,” Jack says at one point, as he sets the tray of garlic bread in the oven to toast. “Johnson’s got me working a night shoot and I have to be downtown by 9.”
“How long is the session?” Davey asks. “Here, will you open this?”
“We’re scheduled for five hours, but we might get to wrap it up early if everything goes well.” Jack’s hand brushes against the small of Davey’s back and they trade places again, Davey stepping back up to the stove-top and Jack rifling around in one of the drawers for a can opener.
“Are ya spendin’ the night or are ya headin’ back to campus?”
“Depends on how much help Tony needs with his paper,” Davey replies, shaking his head. He takes the can when Jack hands it back to him and empties it into the saucepan, then gives the whole thing a good stir. “We might be at it a while.”
Jack huffs out a laugh. “Well, if you do spend the night, go ahead and take the bed. The extra blankets are in the usual place.”
Davey sets down the spoon he’s holding, crossing his arms across his chest. “Jack,” he says warningly.
“Davey,” Jack echoes back in the exact same tone of voice. In the background there’s the faint sound of Tony muttering, “Jesus, not this again.”
“Jack, I’m not gonna kick you out of your bed,” Davey says, rehashing the same old argument for what feels like the millionth time. “I’m perfectly fine taking the couch.”
“Or you could do the smart thing and just take the bed,” Jack counters as he always does. “I’m not even gonna be here to use it.”
“You’ll want an actual mattress when you get home, especially if you’re out late.” Davey argues. “I don’t even have class tomorrow, it’ll be fine.”
“If you don’t take the bed I’ll just carry you in there once I get back,” Jack says, as if that's a perfectly reasonable course of action. “So you might as well save me the trouble.”
Davey sputters. “That’s not— You can’t just— That only happened a couple of times!” he finally gets out.
"Well, actually, it's been more like four or five times," Jack says with a smirk. "But hey, who's counting?"
"That trick won't keep working," Davey grumbles, feeling the back of his neck start to heat up.
“You sleep like a fucking rock, Dave,” Jack says, rolling his eyes. “Why wouldn’t it keep working?”
“No, see, that’s exactly why I should take the couch,” Davey insists. “It’s not like the sound of you coming in will wake me up—”
Jack turns to face him. Davey cuts off, slightly startled—he hadn’t realized they were standing so close to each other.
“Just take the bed, Davey,” Jack all but orders, and those dark eyes with that low voice are a heady combination. “Please?”
Davey bites at his lower lip, suddenly flustered. “Fine,” he reluctantly concedes, hoping Jack will attribute his flushed face to the heat of the kitchen. “Just this once.”
"Thank you," Jack says with a dramatic heave of his chest, looking much too pleased with himself. "Now that wasn't so hard, was it?"
"You're letting the garlic bread burn," Davey answers tartly.
"Oh shit—!"
00000
Later that evening, after they’ve all finished eating and have cleaned up, Davey, Tony, and Charlie are still gathered around the table, working on various assignments.
Davey is finishing the readings for his Monday lecture in between helping Tony finalize the exact wording of his essay. Charlie sits opposite him, working through his geometry homework and every so often there’s a huff of breath and the rubbery scratch of an eraser—Davey makes a mental note to swipe some more pencils and notebook paper from the grad lounge when he’s there next.
Davey notices the time and frowns. “Jack,” he calls out, “it’s already 7:30. If you don’t leave soon you’re gonna be late for work.”
There’s a clamor of noise from down the hall, then Jack appears, freshly showered and fumbling to put on his socks and button up a clean shirt at the same time.
“Fuck, Johnson is gonna kill me,” Jack grumbles. He pats down his pockets, then groans. “Christ, has anyone seen my—”
“Your wallet and keys are on the counter by the microwave,” Davey says, pointing. “And take a jacket, it’s supposed to rain later.”
“Great, I’m sure the models will love that,” Jack says with a groan. “Hopefully we’ll be able to get through everything without getting rained out.”
He meanders his way over to the table, peering at Charlie’s homework from over his shoulder. “If Tony is still busy and ya get stuck, text me,” Jack tells him. “I probably won't be able to answer right away, but if ya send me a picture of the problem I can probably talk ya through it between shots.”
Charlie hums his acknowledgment, still scribbling furiously. Jack turns to Tony.
“Listen to whatever Davey tells you about your paper,” he advises. “The only reason I got through undergraduate writing was ‘cause Davey proofread all my shit before I turned it in.”
“I thought I was s’pposed to always listen to Davey,” Tony says distractedly, tongue poking out between his teeth as he types.
Jack pauses, considering. “Yeah, just do that.”
“Jack—”
“Oh, and Dave cooked, so you shitheads better do the dishes, get me?”
“Jack, you’re gonna be late,” Davey cuts in firmly, holding out Jack’s jacket for him.
“Alright, I’m going,” Jack says, shrugging it on, and he finally starts making moves towards the door.
He gives Charlie one last pat on the shoulder and cuffs Tony lightly across the back of the head in a slightly rougher, but no less affectionate goodbye, which is per usual. Then he turns to Davey, tips his chin up, and kisses him right on the mouth, short and sweet.
“Lock the door behind me and don’t forget to—” Jack stops mid-sentence, then turns bright red.
“Um,” says Charlie.
“Holy shit,” says Tony.
Jack’s mouth opens and closes soundlessly. Finally, he stammers out, “I u-uh— I-I d-didn’t mean—“
Davey doesn’t respond. He couldn’t, even if he wanted to—he’s frozen in place, his mind a sudden wash of static. For a moment, they just stare at each other. Then Jack blurts, “gottagoseeyoulaterbye,” and bolts out the front door.
Davey’s not sure how long he stands there, staring blankly into space, utterly dumbfounded.
“Davey?” Charlie asks hesitantly. “Are you okay?”
There’s a strangled, choking noise. A split second later, Davey realizes it’s coming from him.
"...What just happened?"

🎵“And the scary truth is I’m flying blind, and I’m making this up as I go!”🎵
“Marinette, are you okay?”
Marinette turned slightly from her position, leaning on the railing of her balcony, looking out at the world to see the little red and black spotted being who had asked her the question.
“Yeah, Tikki,” she said in a quiet, almost sad voice. “I just… woke up an hour ago and couldn’t fall back asleep. So I decided to come up here to do some thinking.”
Tikki flew over to her chosen, a concerned look crossing her tiny little face as she faced her. “What seems to be troubling you?”
The dark-haired girl blew out a raspberry, ruffling her fringe. “The question should be what isn’t troubling me?”
“What do you mean?”
“Well…” she trailed off, the beginnings of being overwhelmed evident on her face
“Can we try to have an optimistic outlook?” The Kwami of Creation interrupted her holder, knocking her out of the downward spiral for the moment. “Can we buck up just enough to see the world won't fall apart? Maybe this day we decide we’re not giving up before we’ve tried? Today, let's make a new start.” Tikki said as she gave Marinette’s cheek a nuzzle.
A sudden noise interrupted them, making the two glance in the direction from whence it came. Noticing it was her phone with a notification, the designer picked it up to see that Alya had texted her.
“I wonder what Alya wants this early,” Marinette said with a sidelong glance to her Kwami. Tikki gave her a shrug, just as confused as the girl sitting beside her.
Ladyblogger: hey gurl wat up?
                      R u excited about 2day’s project?
MDCDesigns: Yas!
                        I can’t wait 2 c who I’m partnered with!

                      Wait, y r u awake?
MDCDesigns: Couldn’t sleep.

                      So…
Who do u think ur partner is gonna b?

But I hope its not Chloe
                       Or Lila
Ladyblogger: y not Lila?
MDCDesigns: sorry Als,
                       No offense
                       but...
I don’t trust her on a project this big
Ladyblogger: gurl.
I don’t know what ur issue is wit Lila
but u need to stop being jelly of her
“How did this get turned into me being jealous of her?” Marinette asked out loud, turning to face the little red embodiment of Creation with wide eyes.
Turning back to her text conversation, the dark-haired girl furrowed her brows as she tried to get her point across to her supposed “best friend”.
“Another stellar conversation for the scrapbook,” the dark haired girl quoted with a sigh as she began typing again.
MDCDesigns: I am NOT jealous of her, Als!
                       I just don’t trust her.
Ladyblogger: so you say gurl
                      I’ll see u in class
“Another stumble as I’m reaching for the right thing to say,” she muttered quietly with a shake of her head, dismayed at the direction the conversation had taken. “I’m kinda coming up empty, can't find my way to you...”
MDCDesigns: yeah...see u
With a sigh, Marinette exited the text messaging program, checked the time, and slipped her phone into her handbag. It was still pretty early for her to head to school, but she figured that there was a first time for everything.
“It's a ‘Dear Evan Hansen’ kind of day, isn’t it, Marinette,” Tikki commented as she phased into the bag, giving her holder a sympathetic look as she did.
“Oh, Tikki,” the designer said with a humorless chuckle, pinching the bridge of her nose as she headed towards her trap door. “It most certainly is!”
Her parents were surprised to see their perpetually late daughter up and about so early.
”Marinette,” her mom called out before the girl could make her escape. ”We’re going to need you to help out after school today. A big order came in that your father and I need your help to take care of for tonight.”
The dark-haired girl stifled a grimace. She normally didn't mind helping out in the bakery, but today wasn't exactly a normal day.
”I would, Maman, but I'm being assigned a big group project at school today, and I'm not sure when the due date is yet,” Marinette said tactfully.
”I know that your schoolwork comes first, dear,” Sabine countered gracefully as her husband lumbered over to join the pair. ”However, we really could use your help. It would only be for about an hour, give or take.”
It was the give or take that worried her.
Resigned to her fate, Marinette bowed her head dejectedly and mumbled, ”Yes, Maman.”
”Thank you. You're a good girl, Marinette, ” said her father, patting her on the back before heading back to the ovens.
Grabbing a croissant and a to-go cup of coffee, Marinette left her parents with a kiss to their cheeks and a wave before starting her daily walk to school.
As she started up the stairs at the school’s entrance, she was met with the one person who would sour her day.
Lila.
“Well, if it isn’t Mari-brat,” the Italian vixen sneered.
“What do you want, Lie-la?” Marinette asked as she continued up the front steps, keeping her eyes to the front.
“What I want is for you to go down in flames,” the brunette said in a sing-song voice as she walked beside the secret heroine. “Are you ready to give up yet?”
At the top of the stairs, the designer spun to face her nemesis, blue eyes flashing like lightning. “Let me tell you something,” she growled. “I do not make deals with liars, and I never give up easily.”
“Oh,” the fake fox said coyly, “but you will. I’ve already won, you know. You just haven’t realized it yet.”
With a flick of her brown locks, Lila sauntered away, ready to claim her next victim.
Marinette glared after her, wishing with all of her might that the bitch would finally get caught up in her web of lies. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes.
“Another masterful attempt ends with disaster,” she muttered, bringing a hand to her face to give it a slight rub. “Pour another cup of coffee and watch it all crash and burn,” she continued as she headed to the locker room, ready to just get the day over with.
Opening the door and finding the room empty, the designer kept singing under her breath as she reached her locker and gathered her belongings for the day. “It’s a puzzle, it's a maze. I tried to steer through it a million ways, but each day’s another wrong turn,” she took another deep breath as she closed the locker door. The secret heroine felt her Kwami pat her through her purse on her hip in reassurance.
“Does anybody have a map, anybody maybe happen to know how the hell to do this? I don’t know if you can tell, but this is me just pretending to know,” Marinette sang slightly louder, looking around as she left the locker room and crossed the courtyard, confident now that no one was paying attention to her. “So where’s the map? I need a clue, ‘cause the scary truth is I’m flying blind… I’m flying blind... I’m flying blind, and I’m making this up as I go...”
Reaching her classroom, Marinette discovered it to be empty. 'Just as well,' she thought, setting her bags down and pulling out her tablet, sketchbook, phone, and earbuds. ‘It's bound to be a long day.'
Feeling inspired, she sat down and opened up her sketchbook to an empty page. She then pulled up the ‘Dear Evan Hansen’ soundtrack on her phone, plugged in her earbuds, and set to work.

〈“You know you’re fighting in a losing battle, Making a noose out of your hollow crown. I hold a match up to your paper castle, and watch it all burn down.” Ellie Goulding, “Hollow Crown”〉
⊱ ────── {⋅. 🔥 .⋅} ────── ⊰
The smoke cleared and the boss was on the other end of the room, his body embedded in the back wall. The male standing in front of me was breathing heavily, sword poised in front of him in both hands. Wait, I recognize that mop of green hair!
“Izuku?”
He glanced over his shoulder, giving me a nervous smile. “H-Hi, Jen-san.” He was wearing a long-sleeved white shirt under a green vest. His hands were covered by gloves and he wore a brown utility belt around his waist, legs covered by blue pants. He’s also a swordmaster.
“Deku?! What the fuck are you doing here?!” Bakugo yelled, stomping over to the boy.
“U-Um, I… you looked like… you n-needed help…”
“Hah?! As if I’d ever need help from a nerd like you!”
“You say that, but Winchester would have been a goner if he hadn’t stepped in when he did.” Iida approached the two, dressed in a suit of armor, his helmet tucked under his arm. He’s the knight class.
“That’s her fault for being a fucking weakling!”
“Gee, thanks.” I rolled my eyes, coughing again.
“Don’t worry, Jen, I can heal you!” Ochaco smiled brightly as she kneeled beside me, dressed in a short tan dress with a red hood over her head. Black leggings covered her legs, disappearing into brown boots. She carried a wooden staff, her right hand wearing a red glove. She’s the mage class. Ochaco hovered her hand above my stomach and it started to glow purple before my health shot up. “There, all better!”
“Thanks,” I pulled myself to my feet, dusting off my pants.
Iida snapped his gaze to me. “Why are you here? You’re not even level fifty yet!”
My eyes narrowed. “I’m half a pubic hair from being fifty. Fuck you.”
His cheeks burned. “E-Either way, this area is far too advanced for you! Show some responsibility for your actions.”
“You know, you really fucking piss me off, Prep.”
“P-Prep? My name is -!”
“I don’t fucking care,” I scoffed. “Oi, Bakuhoe. You got five minutes to finish this bitch off before I call it quits. I’m fuckin’ hungry and now in a bad mood.”
“Che, don’t tell me what to do!” He turned his back to me. “Let’s go, shitty hair!”
“Right!” Kirishima blew smoke from his nose.
Izuku and Iida joined the fight, while Ochaco stuck close to me with a magical shield up in case the boss decided to attack me again. Ten minutes passed and Kirishima dealt the finishing blow with a swipe of his clawed hand. Or is it a paw? Dragons don’t have paws right? Feet? But that makes me think of the back legs not the front.
As the boss shattered, an annoying jingling started to go off in my ear like I had just won the fucking jackpot on a slot machine. My level shot through the roof, jumping from forty-nine to seventy-nine. My body feels lighter, stronger, and now I have a shit ton of power points to assign again. For fuck’s sake.
Kirishima’s body started to shrink back to human form and he fell back onto his ass, a bright grin on his face. “I can’t believe we did it! You’re super strong, Midoriya!”
The greenette flushed at the praise, not missing Bakugo’s glare. “N-No, I’m really not -”
“Of course he is!” Iida pushed up his glasses. “Not only is he max level, but he also has the legendary Allmiber!”
Allmiber? What, is that the fucking love child of All Might and Excalibur?
“How the fuck did you hit max level?! And where the fuck did you get the most OP weapon in the damn game?!” Bakugo demanded, trying to grab the front of Izuku’s shirt, but the anti-PVP system prevented him from doing so.
“That’s so cool!” Kirishima jumped to his feet, eyes sparkling. “Only five people in the entire game have managed to find Allmiber!”
“And you, shitty hair!” Bakugo’s vermillion eyes snapped to the red-head, pointing an angry finger at his face. “How the fuck are you a Dragonling?!”
“What’s a Dragonling?” Ochaco whispered from behind me.
Izuku answered, his eyes shining. “Dragonlings are the rarest race in the whole game! They can’t be chosen or even bought, you can only get it as a drop from a powerful boss. The drop rate itself is only .01% and the drop location changes every week. They say that Dragonlings are unbeatable because of their massive health bars and insane defense and armor. They’re also the only race in the game that can change their forms in battle! Their dragon forms have been called the gods of the game! Did you know that the creator -”
I glanced over my shoulder at him, sweatdropping as he continued to ramble on about the game. A simple, ‘it’s rare!’ woulda been fine, ya know. But Ochaco and Iida are listening intently to him, as usual, nodding their head every few words.
Kirishima laughed as he rubbed the back of his neck. “I was just killing some scarecrows for a quest and it dropped.”
“You got a Dragonling from a fucking level five quest?! I’ll kill you!”
My lips tugged down as I watched the two groups interacting with each other. Why do I feel a sudden pang in my heart? I cursed, turning toward the exit portal that had opened up after the boss with destroyed. It took me back to town and I quickly logged out of the game, pulling myself off the wooden floor and turning the console off. I can still hear Bakugo screaming over the phone and I hesitated.
Should I say something? I decided I didn’t want to bother them and just ended the group call without a word, glancing at the clock. Nine-thirty.
The front door opened and closed, Toshi stepped into the living room looking tired and ragged. He smiled when he saw me. “Hello, young Jen. What would you like me to make for dinner?”
I grunted, pushing past him before he could step into the kitchen. “I wanna work on my cooking skull. You don’t mind, yeah?”
He sent me a confused look, but it soon melted to one of warmth. “That’s fine with me. I’m guessing tacos since I lifted the ban?”
“Nah. I’m in the mood for some curry.”
“Oh…” he shifted in the doorway, watching me closely. “Is anything bothering you?”
I sent him a small smile. “I spent all day playing an RPG with Bakugo, so I’ve just got a bit of headache.”
He sweatdropped. “That’ll do it. I’m gonna go take a shower.”
My smile dropped as soon as the bathroom door closed. To be honest, I don’t really know why I’m suddenly feeling so… isolated and down, I guess? I don’t wanna worry him, especially when I don’t even technically know what my problem is. Thinking about it, a lot of time has passed since I came to this world, since I started at U.A.
While everyone else has been forging friendships, I’ve been too damn busy keeping people at a distance. I haven’t made any efforts at all. Bakugo only asked me to play with him because he had no one else, but now he knows that the golden trio and Kirishima also play. They don’t need a low level to babysit that knows nothing about the game.
I groaned, rubbing my forehead in frustration. “Why is this bothering me? Get a grip.”
⊱ ────── {⋅. 🔥 .⋅} ────── ⊰
My phone buzzed for the millionth time and I sighed, opening my messages. From Bakugo:
‘Where the fuck did u go?’
‘Oi, fuckin answer me’
‘…somethings wrong aint it?’
‘Stop fucking ignoring me!’
And from a number I didn’t recognize:
‘Hey Winchester! Got ur number from Bakugo!’
‘This is Kirishima btw’
‘Whyd u log out so suddenly? Everything ok?’
‘That sword u got is really cool btw, it costs a million gold!’
My brow furrowed. Why did he give my number to Kirishima? Why’d he want it in the first place? Are they really worried about me? And that sword… why did Bakugo give me something that’s worth so damn much? I don’t understand anything.
I sighed, throwing my phone onto the couch before plopping down onto the floor so I could put my sneakers on. I heard shuffling behind me as Toshi walked quietly down the hall, pausing when he noticed me.
“Young Jen, you’re up early!”
“Don’t sound so surprised, Toshi.”
“You’re never awake when I leave in the mornings.” He commented, sliding his feet into the over-sized loafers. He suddenly grinned, his body expanding as he took on his muscle form. “Shall I carry you to school today? Ahahaha!”
I rolled my eyes as I pushed the door open. “I’m not a kid, but I’m sure Izuku would take you up on that offer, though.”
He laughed again, closing and locking the door. “I’m sure he would! By the way, I wanted to thank you for befriending young Midoriya. I feel more at ease knowing that you’re there to watch his back.”
“I’d hardly call myself his friend,” I muttered under my breath.
“Hm? What was that?”
“I said you’re welcome.”
He smiled brightly, slapping my shoulder. “Be safe on your way to school, young Jen!” He kneeled down, kicking off the ground as he took to the sky. I waited until he was out of sight before starting to walk, stuffing my hands into my pockets.
It was still dark outside, the neighborhood peaceful as the residents slept. Crickets chirped tiredly in the distance, pausing when the wind blew through the trees. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve always found solace in the darkness. I’ve always been a night owl, preferring to be awake through the night rather than during the day. Maybe it’s because I hate the sun, or maybe it’s because there are fewer people around at night… I don’t really know the reason. This little strip of time before the sun starts to rise makes me feel at peace.
I took my time walking to school and the sun was just starting to glare over the horizon as I walked through the archway, casting shades of orange and purple across the sky. It was beautiful, sure, but I ain’t fond of the sun.
I entered the school building, heading for class 1-A. The room was empty and, for a minute, I just stood in the doorway. It felt weird without the loud chatter of the other students. It was eerie, like I had just stepped into an alternate dimension or some shit.
“Fuckin’ creepy,” I muttered, flicking on the light before heading to my desk. What do I do now? I left my phone behind, so I can’t play any games. I guess I could work on my homework… I started it last night but couldn’t concentrate so I ended up giving up and going to bed. Scrunching my nose up, I grabbed my notebook and the worksheets we had been given and got to work.
The door slid open a few minutes later and I glanced up, meeting surprised heterochromatic eyes. I returned my gaze to my notebook, where I was working on a doodle of Deadpool wearing a taco hat. At least he ain’t glaring at me, but the day is still young.
The legs of the chair scraped against the floor as he sat at his desk. He was quiet for a moment before speaking up, almost hesitantly. “Good morning,”
I raised a brow at him, but he was staring down at his desk. “Uh… sure.”
“Are you all healed up?”
“Yeah,”
“That’s good,” he nodded his head, pulling his notebook from his bag. “Does my voice really keep you calm?”
I nearly snapped my pencil, a bead of sweat rolling down my cheek. Damn, talk about being blunt. I cleared my throat, “Why are you even talkin’ to me?”
His eyes met mine, growing wide. “Should I not be?”
I shrugged. “You’ve always seemed perfectly content just glaring at me.”
Peppermint quickly looked away, his hair covering his eyes. “I’m sorry. You just… remind me of someone.”
“Who?”
He was silent for a moment and I figured he wasn’t going to answer. When he finally did, his voice was like ice. “My father,”
I raised a brow, humming. So a pretty boy with daddy issues, huh? Interesting. “Right. Good to know I remind you of an old man.”
“That’s not what I meant,” he mumbled, his cheeks gaining some color. “Will you answer my question now?”
“Yes, you have a calming voice. Happy?” I sighed, turning back to my notebook. Man, I accidentally stabbed Deadpool in the face.
The door slid open again and Fumi stepped inside, tilting his head as his eyes met mine. He approached my desk with a smile. “Good morning, Jen-san.”
“Sup, Fumi.”
“You’re usually one of the last to arrive. It’s quite alarming to see you here so early.”
“Sheesh, a girl tries to be a diligent student and everyone thinks the world is comin’ to an end.” I grinned, leaning back in my chair. “I wanted to try somethin’ new, but don’t worry, I hate it and won’t be doing it again.”
He chuckled, his eyes scanning my notebook. “You did this problem wrong,”
“Heh?” I glanced at the math problem he was pointing at. “Fuck math,”
“If you’d like, I can give you a hand.”
“For sure, thanks Fumi. The last thing I need is a lecture from Ectoplasm about not paying attention in his class.”
He nodded toward the pencil. “May I?”
“Go for it,” I watched as he scribbled down a number on the corner of the page.
“You can message me anytime you find yourself stuck and I will do my best to assist you.”
“Yeah, I will.” I smiled at him. “Thanks, Fumi.”
He nodded, returning the smile before heading to his desk. I caught Peppermint’s gaze but he quickly looked away. What’s his deal today?
Students slowly started to filter into the room and the silence morphed into loud chatter. In a way, their loud natures is annoying as all hell, but… I think I prefer it over the alternative.
“Wait, who are you?”
I glanced up at the sound of Alien’s voice, seeing Rin standing in the doorway. What’s he doing here?
He bowed, offering a kind smile. “My name is Hiryuu Rin from class 1-B next door. I’m looking for Winchester,”
Her eyes fell on me, half-hidden behind Momo. I stood up and approached him, grabbing his wrist and tugging him from the room. I could already hear her excited whispers. I swear if she starts spreading some stupid shit… I brought Rin to the stairway, which only had a few students passing by. As soon as I turned toward him, his arms were thrown around my neck, my body tensing at the contact.
“Uhh…”
“I’m so glad you’re okay.” He spoke with a voice full of emotion, his grip tightening around me. I could feel his heart hammering in his chest. “I heard about the attack, about two students being seriously injured along with Aizawa-sensei and Thirteen-sensei. I came to see you yesterday, to see if you were okay, but your entire class was gone. I was so worried about you, Winchester!”
My body relaxed as I wrapped my arms around him, gently rubbing his back. “The faulty thought it would be a good idea if we took a day off after the attack. Me and Izuku were a bit reckless, but it ain’t a big deal.”
“‘A bit reckless’?” He pulled back, eyes narrowed in frustration and worry. “You could’ve been killed.”
“I didn’t think you cared that much,” I muttered, scratching my cheek as I glanced to the side.”
“You’re my friend, of course, I care!” He sighed, letting his arms fall to his sides. “You’re okay, that’s what matters.”
My heart skipped a beat, my chest growing warm as my lips curled up. My hand rested on his head. “I’m sorry I worried you, Rin.”
“Call me Hiryuu.”
“Only if you call me Jen.”
“Deal,” he grinned.
“Hey, Rin! Class is gonna start soon!” An orange-haired girl smiled at us as she walked by with a girl that looked like she just stepped out of My Little Pony.
“Be right there, Kendo!” He called before turning back to me, pulling his phone out of his bag. “Can we exchange numbers?”
“Oh, uh, sure. I forgot my phone at home, though, so I’ll text you back after I get home.” I gave him my number and we parted ways, entering our own classrooms. Two numbers in one day? You’re turning into a player, girl. My good mood fizzled a bit when I entered class 1-A, eyes locking with angry vermillion.
“Morning, Winchester!” Kirishima grinned. “Last night was so much fun, let’s play again sometime!”
“Ooh~ What did you two do last night?” Alien asked, clapping her hands excitedly. “And who was that boy? Is he your boyfriend, Winchester?”
Satan, grant me the strength I need to not kill anyone today. “No, he’s just a friend.” I ignored her disappointed pout as I headed for my desk. I was almost there when a hand grabbed my shoulder roughly. Green met vermillion as we stared at each for a moment.
“You didn’t fucking answer my messages,” Bakugo’s voice was surprisingly calm as he gauged my reaction.
“I fell asleep after getting offline,” I lied, keeping my expression blank.
“Why the fuck didn’t you answer when you woke up, then?”
“Forgot my phone,”
“Stop fucking lying to me!”
I grunted, pulling myself from his grip and plopping down at my desk. Why do I suddenly feel so guilty about lying? Why did I even lie in the first place? It had been an instant reaction, I didn’t even consider it. We’re not even friends. He just tolerates me because I do the same for him.
He clicked his tongue in annoyance before stomping back to his desk.
“Hey, you guys! Did you watch the news?” Invisigirl asked, excitedly. “It was so cool that we got a few seconds of screen time. Though I bet nobody noticed me hanging out in the background…”
“Probably not,” Octo agreed.
Tail sweatdropped. “It is difficult to stand out when you’re just gloves…”
“We’re totally big deals.” Sparky’s voice was full of arrogance. “Those news channels love us, we’re basically celebrities!”
“Yeah, it’s kinda crazy, right?”
“Get over yourselves. The hero course that pumps out pros was attacked and that’s what they care about.”
“Who knows what woulda happened to us if the teachers hadn’t shown up.”
“Death. That’s what woulda happened.” I commented, dryly.
“Why’d you say that?!” Grape freaked out, his eyes full of tears. “I’m gonna pee myself just thinking about it!”
My lip curled back in disgust. Why is this fucking brat even in the hero course? I’ve seen more heroism from a fucking cockroach.
“Ah, shut up! Grow a pair, loser!!”
“Did you guys see All Might fighting the bird guy? That guy was super strong and he still destroyed him!”
“Yes, his strength is truly a thing of wonder.”
“Attention! Homeroom class is about to begin! Everyone stop talking and take your seats!” Iida ordered as he stood at the front of the room.
“Uh, we’re all sitting.”
“You’re the only one standing.”
Iida fell into his chair, body shaking. “Dang it,”
“Don’t sweat it,” Ochaco smiled. She’s honestly too precious for this world.
The door slid open and a heavily bandaged Aizawa appeared. His face was still covered, and both arms were in slings across his chest. “Good morning, class.”

Day Two: Swap
Normal high school AU where Baz is new to Simon’s English class but Penny is the one that gets assigned a seat next to Baz. Aka English nerds in love.
Words: 3457
Note: this is unedited and super rushed but its something!
No warnings apart from a lot of swearing. Enjoy!
_____
SIMON
“Alright so I posted the seating plan on the class page, did everyone get a chance to see it?”
While everyone scrambles to look at their laptops, I’ve already seen Ms. Possibelf’s seating plan and can I just say… What. The. Fuck. She’s sat me across the room from Penny (honestly fair since we never get any work done) next to some random girl named Trixie; she seems nice enough but so bloody boring. How am I supposed to make it through a whole year of English without Penny? I can hear the complaints layering up in the tiny classroom and I can see the teacher ignoring every single one of them. I don’t think I’ll bother asking for a change. Though, maybe she’ll listen to Penny?
I nudge Penny’s arm, I guess she’s already seen the seating plan too because she makes no effort to look at her laptop and moves towards her assigned seat.
“Surely the fuck not?” I don’t bother whispering.
“I think you mean surely the fuck yes. I’m not failing this semester because you want to tell me a gross story about your arms smelling like Cheetos mid class.” I’m smirking and she looks like she’ll bite my head off. That makes me smile more.
“That was once!”
“It still happened, and I’d rather hear about your smelly limbs at lunch time - or better yet, never.”
We’re cut off by Ms. Possibelf starting the class, or at least trying to.
“You should’ve all written a draft of your persuasive orals over the holidays, now you must refine them and prepare a final copy. These will be presented in two days.”
Okay as much as I’m a clown in English, I’m actually decent at it. I’ve already written and edited my script, so I really have nothing to do. I sit in my seat and glance at Penny, it looks like she’s done too. I’m fairly sure she’s playing fire boy and water girl, she’s playing both parts (because I’m not there) and she’s taking up the entire table, her desk mate looks so uncomfortable squashed into a corner. Who is he, by the way? The name on the roll was Tyrannus, what the fuck kind of name is that? So pretentious.
I open up Instagram on my laptop and text Penny.
Penelope Bunce – Simon Snow
Simon Snow [10:04]: who is heeeeeee
Penelope Bunce [10:04]: who?
Simon Snow [10:04]: the guy ur sat next to whats his name?????
Penelope Bunce [10:05]: got a bit of crush huh :0
Simon Snow [10:05]: oh fk off I haven’t even seen his face,,, whats his name??
Penelope Bunce [10:06]: he said to call him baz
Simon Snow [10:07]: hmm weird but cool name
Simon Snow [10:07]: what schools he frm?
Penelope Bunce [10:07]: idk do ur work Si
Penny stops typing, she looks me in the eyes then turns to speak to Baz, shutting her laptop. That’s such an odd name, right?
They talk, she’s laughing, he’s just sitting there so composed. He doesn’t look bored exactly, just that he’s better than seeming overly excited. Dickhead it is then.
Even though I think I’ve already decided I hate him, I don’t stop looking at them. He’s got long hair, its black and loose just above his shoulder, his skin is this gorgeous caramel that doesn’t need tanning and his eyes, they’re so grey a mix of green and blue I think and – fuck. We’re making eye-contact, not in like oh oops, more like oh shit why is this guy staring at me. He must think I’m a fucking creep. Shit.
It’s not like I care though, he probably thinks he’s better than everyone in this room anyway. But he’s just smiling at me? Fuck that’s a good smile. I think I’m smiling back, I can’t help it. He turns back to speak to Penny, they seem like they’re in deep discussion about something, I wonder what? And suddenly, I catch myself wishing I was her. Um, what?
The rest of the period flies by. Too quick, I think, not that I need more time to work, I just kind of wish… whatever.
Penny, as per bloody usual, is taking her precious time packing her stuff away. I walk up to her table, hyper aware of Baz’s presence there,
“Planning on leaving anytime soon?” I ask, trying to seem as nonchalant as can be, but my eyes keep glancing to him. I think Penny must’ve picked up on it because then she says, all smug,
“But then you wouldn’t get to meet Baz,” she gestures to Baz, who’s raising his eyebrow and smiling a little against his better judgement I think, then she gestures to me and then back again, “Baz, Simon. Simon, Baz. There we go.” He’s full on smiling now. Fuck, how can someone be so pretty?
“So nice to meet you, I’m Baz Pitch.” He puts his hand out for me to shake it – that’s so proper. I’m not even convinced he’s 17. He’s so calm and put together, these are not words you use to describe a 17 year old guy.
“H-hey, yeah, Simon.” Of course, I trip over my words, I’ve always struggled with that but I’m also really fucking nervous for some reason.
“Do you wanna have lunch with us, Baz?” Penny’s throwing her bag over her shoulder, looking at me like she knows what she’s doing to me and then back to Baz with genuine eyes. Penny doesn’t usually get on with people like that, that’s why we’ve been friends for so long, she really doesn’t have other options (not like I do either).
“That’d be nice.” He says, the corner of his mouth inching up, giving his cool exterior away. He’s not a pretentious git, is he? He’s just a boy on his first day of school; that’s fucking daunting.
We walk out the classroom – finally – and Baz starts telling us about himself and his old school. Mainly just answering Penny’s questions. Does he have siblings? Yeah, four half siblings. How come he moved schools? dad moves a lot for business. Oh, is he going to be moving again? Probably not until after high school, by then I could move out anyway.
I’m not usually this quiet. Usually I’m more social than Penny. I don’t know what’s come over me, I wish I could be her right now.
Lunch happens, Baz doesn’t really eat. Not like I was watching him. Well he was sat right in front of me and I just noticed that he wasn’t eating anything. Surely that’s normal.
I finally ask Baz what other classes he’s taking; other than English we don’t share any classes and then I let myself say, “that sucks.” But only because its normal, its not flirting. You can want a friend to be in your class. Penny still looks at me anyway.
But then he says, “I’ll just have to look forward to English,” and my heart melts.
______
I try not to think about Baz right now, in bed, but I am anyway, and I remember him telling me his full name; so naturally I’m suddenly typing it into the Instagram search bar. Aha! He’s not on private, thank the gods of social media.
I start scrolling through his feed, careful not to tap anything of course. There are a few photos of him alone, they’re gorgeous; he dresses so nice. Penny says I can’t dress myself. In one photo from a month ago he’s in this incredible suit, taking a mirror selfie in a bathroom that looks nicer than my whole house. His hair is slicked back (I think I prefer it loose – still so bloody fit though) and his cheekbones are so defined, he’s got that same face he had when we first met today – eyebrows raised, little bit a smirk, beautiful eyes.
I scroll down to the next photo, this one is different. It’s not a hot mirror selfie, its him carrying a little girl – his little sister? – on his shoulders looking up at her with a smile, a real big smile. He’s dressed a bit more casual too, still nicer than anything I own though it’s just jeans and a black button down. I keep coming back to the jeans. How can someone look so good in jeans?
I scroll through a few more photos, some with friends, some more of just him and a few of books he’s reading or places he’s visited. I feel like I know him a little bit better now – less in a stalkerish way more in a… well I can’t think of the write word. I can never think of the write word.
My phone vibrates all of a sudden and I literally drop my phone, so I don’t accidently like anything.
Penelope Bunce – Simon Snow
Penelope Bunce [23:13]: up thinking bout prince charming?
Simon Snow [23:14]: shut up
Penelope Bunce [23:14]: don’t blame u he’s v cute.
Penelope Bunce [23:14]: And smart.
Penelope Bunce [23:14]: you have my blessing
Simon Snow [23:15]: bugger off,, as if he’s even into guys
Simon Snow [23:15]: I was literally such an idiot today he probs doesn’t even wanna be my friend
Penelope Bunce [23:16]: AHA SO U ADMIT IT
Simon Snow [23:16]: did I even have to
Penelope Bunce [23:16]: ofc not. For what its worth I think u have a shot.
Simon Snow [23:17]: sureeeee
Simon Snow [23:17]: fuckkkkk im gonna be so dead tomorrow,, gn love u
I turn my phone off, pull my glasses off chucking them somewhere I probably won’t find them tomorrow and roll over to fall asleep.
______
We’ve got English first period today. I don’t think I’ve ever been this excited for English, but then I remember I don’t even get to sit next to him.
I walk into class and he’s already in there, we make eye-contact – way less awkward than yesterday – and he gives me a nod. Its friendly, it’s nice, it’s already a bit familiar. I give him a little wave with my right hand below the books I’m carrying but then I’m nearly dropping then, and my laptop starts sliding through my arms. It’s a shit show and it’s too early in the morning to embarrass myself, but I don’t get a say do I? As a say good bye to my laptop that is threatening to smash in the ground any second now – and any possibility for anything with Baz – I hear a chair scraping at the floor then not being pushed in. Suddenly, Baz’s hand is on my shoulder; the other grabbing my laptop that’s basically just resting on my belt buckle at this point. I beg myself not to blush, not now.
Baz is laughing. We’ve – he’s – saved my laptop and now he’s carrying it and my books; he insisted I was not to be trusted.
“Alright, special delivery all the way to your seat. You sure you’re okay Snow?” He’s using my last name because he thinks it’s ‘such a waste to not make use of such an iconic surname’. I like the way it sounds on his lips. I think I just like his lips and anything after is automatically perfect. Perfect.
He taps my shoulder, “you okay there?”
“Huh? Yeah yeah, just a bit tired. Didn’t sleep very much last night.” That’s not a lie.
Baz nods and says he’s gonna go get started on the work, I watch him walk away. The school trousers, they’re no jeans but he looks good in everything.
I try to do some work, making cue cards for my presentation, but I keep letting myself look over to Baz. Penny just caught me and stuck her tongue out.
Penelope Bunce – Simon Snow
Penelope Bunce [08:31]: ur staring
Simon Snow [08:32]: am not,, go away
I go back to working on my cue cards after making a show of shutting my laptop in front of Penny. I get through two more cards before I see a pair of shoes approaching my table. I look up and sure enough its prince charming – I mean Baz. He clears his throat and says,
“I hear you’re good at English”
“There’s no way Penny said that,” I laugh.
“True, she said ‘he thinks he’s better than everyone else.’ But I take it for good reason.” He smiles while doing air quotes, I smile back at him because I can’t help myself.
“Well, I definitely don’t suck.”
“Good. Do you mind reading over my script, please? I feel like it needs a little bit of editing.” He hands over his laptop, “don’t drop this one okay?” he chuckles.
I honestly don’t know how to act around him. I’m the epitome of those ‘act normal’ memes. He hands me his laptop and I start reading. His presentation is on single use plastics and it is so well written, he definitely doesn’t need my help. My neck is getting warm and I hope I’m not blushing at a script on environmentalism just because it was written by a hot guy. That’s pathetic.
But he’s not just a hot guy, is he? He’s smart – so smart – and he’s so kind even if you wouldn’t think so; when he helped me with my books today, I couldn’t help but think back to that photo of him with his sister, so much warmth and kindness expertly hidden under a cool and calm facade. I get to the end of his conclusion and look up in awe but he’s standing just behind me leaning forward waiting for my response. That explains the warmth I was feeling.
Baz doesn’t seem like the kind that would ever doubt himself but if you could see him now, you’d think he cared about what everyone thought about everything; and maybe he does, maybe he just hides it really well.
“Baz.” I make eye-contact with him, finally on purpose, “this… its incredible. I don’t even know why you’d ask for feedback. Your arguments are excellent, and your use of inductive reasoning is really fitting.”
His face lights up, a kind of innocent smile creeps up on his face and for the first time I think I want to kiss him. But even more so, I want to be responsible for more of those smiles. “Really?”
“It’s perfect.”
I look away because I don’t want him to see me blush. Penny is looking straight at us, she gives me one of her reassuring smiles.
______
It’s been two weeks of school; all my classes suck but it’s our last year and soon enough we’ll miss it. At least that’s what Penny keeps saying, Baz agrees with her.
Baz has been spending more time with us; we hang out at lunch time, he’s joined us for frozen cokes a few times in the past few hot days. It’s nice. I can actually talk to him now too.
He’s so smart, smarter than I had thought. He’s not just academically smart, he knows more than just surface level knowledge. Yesterday, on our walk to English he was talking about some article he read on the relationship between sleep deprivation and blood alcohol concentration just for fun. Though its nerdy and just a bit lame, the way his eyes light up when he talks about things he cares about, I’d listen to the summary of a thousand dumb articles to see that again.
Right now, Baz isn’t here though, and all my brain can do is think about him.
“Pennyyyy!” she’s lying on my bed while I do my art homework on the floor, she always comes home with me on Tuesdays, I don’t know when that started.
“Si, I already said no like three times.”
“Why not? Do you not love me?” I asked her to swap seats with me in English. I just wanna sit next to Baz, I can say I need extra help or something.
“I love you of course but I don’t want Baz to think I’m avoiding him, and I certainly don’t want Ms. P to fail me for disobeying her one rule.”
“Just please.” I give her my best puppy eyes and pouty face, “I fink I’m in wuv,” I say mockingly. She
throws an old stuffed toy in my face. I guess that’s a no.
______
The next day I see Baz at the school gates, he’s holding a cup of coffee and his hair is up in a bun today. Flawless.
“Fancy seeing you here,” how can he look so perfect at eight in the morning. I don’t even feel awake yet.
Baz bumps my shoulder with his and we start walking to our lockers. We talk about the English reading we were set, we’re reading Lord of the Flies and Baz is going on about how he and Penny think the book would be drastically different if it had female characters.
“Golding said he didn’t add girls to avoid sex being a subject.” I say, and Baz just looks at me with his eyebrow raised. I call this the signature Baz look now.
“Oh, come on, as if every single kid on that island was straight.” I choke on nothing for a second. Baz and I have never talked about relationships or sex or sexuality. It’s not really a matter of discussion I guess but hearing him acknowledge the idea of guys being together, I don’t know, it gives me hope. That makes no sense obviously, he’s taking about characters from an English novel not himself and really its more an act of Baz’s resistance than it is a nod to gay rights or whatever. But, still, it gives me hope.
“True,” is all I manage to get out.
We get to English extra early after home room, and I start making my way to my seat. Ever since Baz started hanging out with us outside of class, English is back to being plain and boring, nothing special. So, with my shoulders slumped I mutter a goodbye to Baz as I walk to opposite way to my seat but then I feel something on my hand. Oh my god, its his hand. Its Baz’s hand. On my hand. Pulling me towards him. Its not especially romantic or anything. But its something!
“Hey! Swap seats with Penny, come sit next to me today,” surely this is a dream, I must’ve hit my head. “I need your uhhh help with the essay.” Baz doesn’t help, he just discussed key themes of the novel for breakfast. I feel it again, lingering in my chest, hope. “It’s okay if you don’t want to…” he says a bit quieter now, trying to seem as cool as possible. How Baz of him. Fuck I still haven’t said anything.
“What no no, I want to. I’m just not sure what Ms. Possibelf will say; or worse, Penny.” He pulls at my hand. He still hasn’t let go of my hand. He still hasn’t let go of my hand.
“What? Scared Snow?”
“We’re not in Harry Potter, Baz.”
“True. I’m wayyy better looking than Draco Malfoy and you wouldn’t be a very good chosen one. The worst chosen one who’s ever been chosen.”
I hear myself saying, “what so I’m not more better looking than Harry Potter?” Is this flirting? He squeezes my hand. He still hasn’t let go of my hand.
“You needed me to point that out? I thought it was a given. You’re well fit, Simon.” Simon. Hope.
I hum in response and with one final tug at my hand, he lets it go. I follow him (I’d follow him anywhere).
“Sit, I won’t bite,” He grins at me.
“Yeah but Penny will,” she better not ruin this for me. For us. I sit next to Baz and we start working on our essays. He doesn’t ask for help once.
Penny walks into class, glances at her seat, sees us and walks to my – her – seat next to Trixie.
Penelope Bunce – Simon Snow
Penelope Bunce [08:14]: u win. Enjoy!
I can’t tell if that’s sarcastic or not.
Baz notices I’ve changed my window to Instagram DMs and nudges me, “how come you don’t follow me?”
“Huh, I don’t know? What’s your user name?” As if I don’t know.
Baz grabs my laptop, “I’ll just type it in.” I let him because I’m lazy and I like watching him type but then he clicks on the search bar and has the biggest grin on his face. Fuck. He can see my search history, “looks like you already know it.” How could I forget about that?
I must look mortified because he places his hand on mine. Second time today. “It’s all good. I already have yours too.”
Hope.

Found it (Short Story) 2700 words
"I'm done. I don't believe in love anymore"
Contemplating in the black sanded beach and when the waves crashes to the shore, the memories recurs all the joyful happenings when we were together. As the seabreeze touches my eyes the pungent sirocco entered my iris and that goes along with the fluid in my eyes began to shed tears. Holding tightly the sand feeling like the point of the needle stitches my palms. And I said "I'm a queen with or without."
Back when we were together
We were really hitched to each other. That was my unbelievable feelings that I got attached into him. In all of my suitors, the love for him I felt was sincere. He is a tall guy with a sexy lips, a seducing eyes, and a sporty. After class hours he always goes to my school to accompany me to go home. We were really happy back then, we play jokes to each other. Everytime I have a training for dancing, he guard or watch me dance even it's dark outside and the big thing is his house is far. Until the time reached that he replied so cold. I hope when they ask you about me and you find yourself thinking back on all of our memories, I hope you ache in regret as the truth hits you like a bullet and you find yourself replying; "she loved me more than anyone else in the entire world and I destroyed her." but in my mind I am a  feeling woman and I don't need a man. People come and go so if he think he "played" me ,but who ended up losing ? I mean what did l lose? a boy that didn't appreciate what I did for him ? what did you let go ? a girl that would go out of her way to please you, and someone that rode with you thick and thin. a girl who loved you regardless of your flaws. You can easily be replaced, buta girl like me? good luck finding a girl who put up with you like I did, sorry but u played ur own damn self. I even remembered how I let him go and cried after I was replaced with a acolyte of church. So I message him "We gotta end this, it's not my intention to leave you but I know where this relationship goes.I know about your side chick yoooo I'm still better than her where is our agreement that if you'll find another girl make sure that it's more beautiful than me, but I'm good now.  Sorry we really have dispargements that is which we can't hold it anymore. But thank you anyways thank you for giving me a chance to find someone better than you. This is the end of you and me. "
It's been 10 months and I haven't seen a replacement of that guy. I even made a jangle with his side chick which is he substituted me with a girl that is near on him or let's call his "classmate" which now they're already done and the last guffaw is on me with the raised eyebrow and a smirk. And when I heared gossips that she called me "unattractive", I felt so indignant at the same time I how could you accept being called "unattractive" when you know yourself that you're more gorgeous than her so I immediately chatted her like I want to strike her a keyboard in her face and this how it goes.
"Hi hobo, was 'bout to give no time 'bout you but I heard you're talking 'bout me. Gossips that makes me in a mood for chaos. Sorry to interupt but you're too fortunate talking to me now. You might have forgotten what you are hitting. You really find yourself pretty huh? yet your looks' too common. God my skin care cost pricey than you. Save your skin or I'll tear that shit off. Ohhh shoot heard 'bout your rumors.Protect it, it may ruin your reputation. It's alright if you're hot and smart as me but biiiitch, you're just a piece of rubbish to me. So breathe for now, I'll give you air. Free to challenge me, you'll lose cus I got more attitude than you.AND watch out cus you two won't last. Now shoooo shady biatch! Je m'en fous"
"Huh? What did I do to you"
"Heard gossips that you called me 'unattractive'? Don't pretend you don't know cus my friend reported it to me from your friends in your school. Sad for you, even your friends are back stabbing you hahahah. Now prick, admit it!"
"Sorry but I didn't say anything that can hurt you and I don't want to argue"
"Be careful with me because I'm more venomous than you.
Whether you said it or not I'm telling you.I was thinking the same too you're ugly as me too but you're even uglier. But thank you anyways for your opinion infairness you're the only one calling me that in my whole life.hahahha. And also you're a perfect definition of ''PAIN IN THE EYES''. AND GET AN EYE TEST SIS, YOU NEED THAT, MAYBE YOUR STIGMATISM ARE HIGHER THAN YOUR CHARACTER OKAYYYY TIME, SHUTTING THE DOOR AND GET SOME MANNERS."
The relieve I felt was smooth. I didn't expected that because I'm really a long tempered person and it just happened with a forthright attack or you haven't yet moved on girl?  The sensation I felt was relief after I lump her in the throat knowing that she even can't attack me because she's a puppy.
"Look after your girl cus she might be traumatised to everything I said. Doncha worry I just gave her basic learnings in life cus maybe she haven't experienced the overabundance of schooling. Flick the mouth outta your girl cus man, she lacks of respect." I said to my ex and I feel like I was possessed with a 6 evils.I was awake in the Reality that I stopped liking somone thatI liked a lot and suddenly notic that he was a shitty person and realize how blinded I wa by how much you liked them.
Until this one day, I got a text from a stranger. I was wondering who it was. Of course who can get the eyebrows high till I read on my text message.
"Hi, is this Billy? "
"Yeah.Who's this?"
" the handsome mankind"
"maybe an ambitious"
" don't be such a keyboard-lunatic. You really tap your cellphone angrily"
"where are you? I will really throw a book on you"
I was at the library where my sister was assigned, but I really study in the city and that time was there's no class so I went to our province so I can rest and help
"I'm in front of you."
"oh really? I'm facing a mop. Suits how you treat me. "
"hahahahah I will give you hint. I'm a varsity of the school here and you really knew me so much. It's really different right? When you really study to city, you've changed. It's really unusual when you're being called city girl now."
"If I will really caught you. Ready to be slapped. Challenge me, give me a clue"
"I'm wearing white"
"Are you dumb. Of course who will not gonna wear uniform in Mondays yet it's the school's policy"
"Do you know sarcasm? Why would I tell you my name?you're too quick, you escalated quickly marupok te? Single? Single? You're really pretty Billy, I adore you since grade 7.
I was really thinking who it was. And I cannot remember a single 'bad luck' to my junior years. So I grabbed my phone again and started calling him so I can know who it was
And then suddenly it rang to the corner of the room. And then I suddenly hold the chair and grasp and I peek like my neck got deformed.
WTAF?! I didn't know the person who I was chatting. He got  kick out to the library because of the boisterous  phone ringing with a black pink ringtone that is so deafening. The clemency I felt was inhuman because he got  kick out. So I messaged him to tell him if he's alright.
"Hello. Sorry for what I did. I didn't mean to do that. I was just being inquisitive"
"I feel pity of my friend you got kicked him out"
"What? You used your friend in your dumb doings? You're such an animal. How did you do that to him"
I already told you. Why would I reveal my identity? I quickly hand the phone to him and followed my friend after he got kick out while you're still in a verge of clemency because I know that you're wise but the score is on me now. I'm more brainer than you.
"You're a piece of shit."
"No. I'm already a piece on you. Don't worry I will unveil my identity to you. Not know but soon. Don't be such in a hurry. Bye. We're going to start our classes now. Let's just keep in touch"
"Your mom"
"Your Tita soon. Bye!"
"EW"
. Doncha worry I just gave her basic learnings in life cus maybe she haven't experienced the overabundance of schooling. Flick the mouth outta your girl cus man, she lacks of respect.
After their class hours got ended. I was looking for something to eat in the canteen. How I miss the cheap food there when I was in junior high like empanada, siomai, ginanggang, and all. If like I'm gonna spend my money eating snacks there in the city, it feels like my weekly allowance will be spently gone. As I have in my mind the memories when I was junior high in every corner of the canteen I would remember the countless happenings and looking like I'm out of my mind. As the vendor give the snack that I bought in every cherished snacks that I bought, I handed her the payment and she said "Oh dear you already hot paid by the student here" I was shocked like I bought so many snacks and a stranger paid for me like I was a homeless person in town. So I directly went out because the vendors are like looking at me like I read in their minds "maybe this girl has no money to buy her own food". As I went out, I got a text from the importunate stranger again and texted me
"Hey, are you full yet?"
"Are you thinking like I have no money to buy my own food? "
"Hahahahah I'm just practicing to be your ideal man, you're my wife so I'll feed you. I just want you to come back here"
So I was thinking maybe this guy is really a close friend to me so I made him feel conscience if he don't show his identity
"I will throw these snacks in the garbage if you will not show yourself"
So I put the snacks near the garbage but I put it on the clean slate
"How can I show you myself it's already afternoon and it's time to go home. I'm already at the gate."
So I picked up the snack and eat it like who cares he paid for it and I was tired from helping my sister in the library and it's just a waste if I will not eat it. So I started eating it.......
"You're easily to talk with. I thought you're gonna throw it in the garbage and I saw you eating voraciously there hahahaha"
I was ashamed there and quicked went to the library so I can pack my things so I can get to the bus station so I can go to the city because we will have our classes tomorrow. And as I have in my mind, I will know this stranger maybe he's in the alumni homecoming this coming December 31 and I will focus on my studies for now because in 31 our sembreak will be starting and I can do what I want. I arrived in the city 7pm in the evening and tiredly went off to my bed and I open my phone, I received a message from him again.
"Why did you left me?"
"Are you nuts? We're having our classes tomorrow and what you're gonna let me fail?"
"I was just kidding. Have you eaten yet?"
"Where did you boys got that phrases, where did you workshop for that. You got all the same message like you thought you're gonna make me fall from that words? It will never happen"
"Ouch, I will remember that. Watch out if you will fall in love to me"
"in your face"
"there's a beauty"
"you're making me annoyed. I will really sue you. It's really a harass."
"How can you sue me yonder you know me so well."
I was really tired from travelling so I sleep without replying him and day by day we always text, it's like having him he's like my 'reminder' every hour.even though I don't know him and somehow I will find it out soon who he is.
As day by day we chat, he slipped and give me a prefect clue who he was. I was really shocked and its just not so a close friend to me. "Can you please reveal your identity now?" '' "01000111
01000001
01000010
01101111"
"What's that?"
"Nothing."
what?!!!!! Someone liked me in my freshman year and he was my classmate before. A guy who visits always in our classroom just to make pluck of his eyebrows since we're close in freshman year. I was just secretly keeping that I don't know the binary codes and just waited till the alumni drops off.
So as the alumni came by, I saw him there in a dark area where I went to him and I pinch him saying "Don't you think that I didn't know, who can beat a intelligent girl from that simple binary code. Huh?" he was actually sweating and he was denying that it was not him. Till he confessed that he liked me since we're classmates in grade 7. And who couldn't love him back who always treat me or give me chocolates with no name who gave it. He confessed it all. I was just being insensitive that there is a guy who totally liked me. And there, there goes my favorite song was played when it's time to dance "The night we met by Lord Huron, we danced solemnly and I have in my min thinking I also had a crush on you sincefreshman also and somehow thinking I was just being numb or I was just in a verge of thinking how can I moved on and the bad thing is they're cousins. Day by day, suddenly I fell for him. He really valued me and love me. He actually told my ex that "You know what? You're such a dumb. You replaced her from a slut. When you're in Billy's hands, you were really lucky really. An intelligent girl, talented, beautiful and gorgeous. You're finding for less?" and my heart touched there and I was like prove it love that he really just wasted me. He even beg me to meet his parents and I see how he respect, treasure, and love them by loving me. He taught me how to value things and things that I don't know
We started our relationship, we lift each other up, no matter how hard our situation is, we will do it together and promised we don't break each of our hearts. We all have pasts. We all made choices that maybe weren't the best ones. None of us are completely innocent, but we geta fresh start every day to be a better person than we were yesterday. Everytime I say "im so sorry for my behavior. that's what I am accept me or leave me, thats your choice. i can't do anything about that shit but I found him replying" Dumb. I will stay" and everytime I say "What would you do if I broke up with you?
"Get back with my ex"
"Now I see how much you care,
im done-"
"Hey you wanna go out?"
"Go with your ex."
"You are my ex"
And there he is,I found him, a man that I never want to lose

Bang-sajangnim has two offices. One is in the basement and is more akin to a studio than to an office. The other is on the top floor, with a massive view of the city and an ornate desk, various awards on his shelves and paperwork in front of him. You had quickly discovered (and Yoongi had clued you in) that if you were called to Bang-sajangnim’s basement office, it wasn’t anything big or serious or troublesome. But if you met in his top-floor office there were only a couple of possibilities: big news or big trouble.
You’d only been into his top floor office once—when you first got this job—and you hoped to never see it again.
Which is why, when his assistant asked for you all to meet up there, you got a bit anxious. Your palms were sweating just thinking about it.
Jihoon was almost having a heart attack.
“Would you both chill?” Minji said, sitting with one leg crossed over the other at the desk across from yours, watching you both skeptically with an iced coffee in her hand. “One office is bigger than the other, that’s probably the only reason he wants to meet up there.”
“You don’t know that,” Jihoon said, flipping through his paperwork for the fifth time.
“Yeah, I’ve heard the rumors,” you said, tipping your coffee all the way back and frowning when you found it empty. You looked at Yoongi’s note one more time, smiled and sent him a text:
Coffee is not better. I have a meeting with Bang-sajangnim and now I’m wired AND anxious…
The little text bubble almost immediately appeared to signal that he was responding. You felt yourself relax, even if just a bit, almost immediately. And you were surprised—some days it took him forever to get back to you. But then you recall his “free time” until 1:30 and decide to just be happy about it.
Yoongi—You’re always wired and anxious.
You chuckle, poised to answer back, losing your nervous energy in the playful repartee between you two, when the office door opens.
“Annyeonghaseyo.” A familiar voice echoed across the small room, everyone inside freezing in the middle of their tasks. Jihoon nearly dropped his papers but manages to catch them frantically at the last minute. You stood up so fast your office chair rolled into your desk with a loud thud!
Bang-sajangnim stood in the doorway with a peaceful expression, slightly amused at the mayhem his presence has accidentally caused. He chuckled and apologized, explaining, “I was already down here, so I thought we could talk here.”
“Of course, of course,” Jihoon said, rushing over to the small table that you use for your department meetings and lunch breaks, clearing it of food wrappers and cups. “Have a seat, sir,” Jihoon held out a chair for him.
You walked over to the table and bow respectfully, taking the seat across from him as Jihoon and some of your colleagues join you. Bang-sajangnim settled into the proffered chair, watching as Jihoon spreads out his various papers, trying to collect his thoughts, his mouth opening to stutter out the beginnings of a status update.
Bang-sajangnim’s Korean was calm and professional when he interrupted, “Jihoon-ssi,” he said, smiling when the head of the department looked up from the table nervously, “Your progress looks great. But that’s not why I’m here.”
The pursuing silence was so blatantly awkward that Jihoon’s anxious heartbeat was almost audible. Bang-sajangnim chuckled light-heartedly, “Relax,” he said, holding up his hands to the group, “There’s a stadium tour coming up, and I’m going to need to steal you.” He locked eyes and pointed directly at you.
Your shoulders relaxed and you smiled, “Oh, is that all?” It won’t be the first time Bang-sajangnim temporarily assigned you to another department; you were sort of a jack-of-all-trades at BigHit. Plus it helps that you not only knew most everyone but got along with them, too (yet another good thing in your life that can be traced back to Min Yoon Gi).
Bang sat back in his chair and smiled as the energy at the table loosens, “See? Nothing to worry about.” He looked down at his watch and said, “There’s a meeting with the managers and other important staff in an hour and a half, upstairs. You’ll get all the information you need then.”
“10:30?”
He nodded, stood and left just as suddenly as he had come.
Jihoon sighed audibly, “Oh my god.”
“Wow,” Minji said, unimpressed, “And what exactly did all that freaking out get you both?”
“A free pass to a BTS stadium tour?” you grinned, standing from the table and nearly skipping back to your desk. You pulled your phone out of your pocket and immediately texted him.
Guess who’s tagging along on the BTS stadium tour this summer??
Yoongi: My insomnia?
Ha ha
Yoongi: I’m glad ur coming but i’m busy
Lame :)
An hour and a fifteen minutes later you were standing at the basement level elevator bay, waiting to go upstairs for your meeting, when you saw the creepy stranger from earlier leaving the conference room with Yoongi. They stopped at the door of his studio awkwardly, and Yoongi bowed politely.
“Think about it,” the stranger said, bowing lowly.
Yoongi smiled in a way that was more a grimace and bowed again. When he rose to his full height he saw you across the hall. You raised your eyebrows in question and he just rolled his eyes, said something to the stranger and disappeared into his studio, the lock whirring shut behind him.
When you looked back to the stranger, you find him staring at you seriously. He turned to one of his staff members and whispered something. A chill went down your spine. And it was odd, because you’ve been stared at by strange men before, and the feeling was different. His stare wasn’t the kind where he was imagining various sexual fantasies, or you with your clothes off. No. The feeling you got from his stare was that of a predator watching their prey; he didn’t necessarily want to have sex with you, but there was something he wanted from you.
The elevator doors slid open and you stepped in quickly, trying to shake off that feeling. As if reading your thoughts, Yoongi texted you with the answer to your unspoken question.
Yoongi: His name is Daniel Ito - some kind of producer, owns a label?
He gives me the creeps
You put your phone away when the elevator arrived at your floor and you saw two of the BTS staff members walking past, following them into the conference room.
The meeting was almost mundane in its familiarity. It was only your second stadium tour, but it would be your fifth tour with them overall (you were even lucky enough to go on the Red Bullet tour with them in the old days). You knew all the staff and are familiar with your responsibilities (translation for the members and the staff, running errands, etc). You were almost surprised to find that this process has become somewhat old-hat to you.
“Is there anything you’d like me to do specifically before we leave for the tour?”
Minhyuk pursed his lips in thought. He was the senior manager of BTS and you were following him down to the basement. He rattled off some instructions (meet with one of the coordinators about hotel stays, familiarize yourself with the schedule, etc) and the Translation Team Supervisor (Michelle) rallied off some translation-specific tasks (including a dinner party for the team in a couple of weeks). By the time they had finished and you’d taken all of your notes, you were standing just inside the BTS rehearsal space.
“Noona?”
You looked up from your notepad to see Jeongguk watching you with his head tilted. You smiled at him, “Hmm?”
“Here for some dance practice?” Hoseok jumped behind Jeongguk, starting to sing the lyrics and perform the choreography to Just Dance.
“Hey,” you said, putting your notebook down on the chair, “I have moves.” You attempted the robot and failed miserably before giving in and ugly-dancing with the boys.
“Ugh, what is she doing here?”
You turned away from them to see Yoongi standing at the door, looking somewhat like a homeless person in a beanie and oversized plaid shirt, with a self-satisfied smirk on his face. You rolled your eyes mockingly, a smile playing at your expression, too, “Leaving now that you’re here.”
He put his arm around your shoulders (a small part of him afraid that you might actually walk out) and said, “What’s up?”
You shrugged, “I was talking to Michelle and Minhyuk. About the tour.”
“Ah.”
“Oh, hey, what was with that dude earlier?” you exaggerated a shudder, “He gave me the heebie-jeebies.”
Yoongi chuckled and said, “Dinner tonight. I’ll fill you in.”

CRY💀 Thoughts💜
“Current assignment? What assignment?!” Nancy, you’re jinxing yourself already
I still remember the first time I played this game and that feeling I got when the warning comes up on the screen before everything begins. Sp00py nostalgia vibes 👻
Ned: “Hey Henry, I’m worried about you, but not worried enough to get off my ass and check on you myself. Imma send my gf instead and then bitch at her a few games later about how I never get to go anywhere.”
Not even in the house two seconds and I’m already getting attacked. Renée and Henry are the worst hostesses ever and this vacation already blows.
Nancy, you are taking a drink from someone you don’t even know; it could literally be poisonous. But go ahead, chug it anyways
Actually, if Renée just poisoned Nancy now, it would have saved her a lot of trouble in the end. Game over. Roll credits!
Henry: “maybe I should call THEM and leave THEM on hold and see how THEY like it.” Me when I’m on the phone with any customer service representative from any company ever.
Henry definitely wore eyeliner, had an emo swoop, and listened to “Ohio is for Lovers” on repeat in his angsty teenage years. But I’m not judging because honestly...same
But Henry is hot af. Broody definitely works so fucking well for him
Henry: “I come across as a little needy sometimes.” Be needy to me, Henry. Be my stage five clinger. I don’t care. Suffocate me with your broody love.
“My parents died in a car crash when I was eight.” Nancy *thinking to herself*: “damn, I didn’t even get the chance to ask him what happened to his mother.”
Henry: “no offense but are you sure you didn’t just pass out from the heat and humidity and dream that you saw this skeleton dude?” No, but in a few games further down the line, I will hallucinate seeing a ghost due to carbon monoxide poisoning. Hahahaha forshadow af.
“What was in that concoction you gave me?” You are supposed to ask this before you take a drink from a stranger, Nancy.
I. HATE. SPIDERS. ANIMATED OR NOT.
I love this game so much. The setting, the atmosphere, music, characters, storyline, puzzles, EVERYTHING.
“Finding Fish by Bill Kessler” OF COURSE BILL AND HIS NORTHERN PIKE POPS UP ONCE MORE TO HAUNT ME *eye twitches ever so slightly*
Henry: “Do you always go digging in other peoples’ fire places?” Actually, yeah. That’s how I found out some poor sap of a homeless handyman was living in the basement of the house he was renovating lol
Bruno and the Bolet family as a whole are so fascinating and I must learn everything about them
Nancy just ate a whole bunch of candy from Renée’s stash and then proceeded to vomit all over her bedroom floor. *places newspaper on top of puke and slowly backs out of the room, whispering to herself*: “I was never here...”
Ned: “it’s about time you called!” “Call again, like soon.” Um, I listen to no one or no thing, u controlling piece of cardboard
Ugh, I love Bess so much. She’s such a precious, innocent bean.
Bess is the friend who gave into peer pressure in high school: “you wanna underage drink and smoke some weed?” “Absolutely, unequivocally no.” “Come on, it’ll be fun!” “Ahhhh...okay!!”
Lamont’s Lament: Part 1
Tumblr media Tumblr media
*grits teeth* these motherfucking wasps around this mother fucking tree
Henry: “Don’t worry, we got plenty of food here, beds-“ CAN I SLEEP IN UR BED? I’LL BE THE BIG SPOON!
HOTCHKISS IS BACK. SWEET AS THE SMELL OF FRIED CHICKEN!
Poor Hotchkiss has early on-set Alzheimer’s and Nancy is shaming her for it
“Sorry ‘bout your loss.” “...my loss?” Nancy, you got so annoyed that Hotchkiss couldn’t remember your name, but you can’t even remember what you said just a minute ago..pot meet kettle¿
Yeah, scurry the fuck out of my way, you hairy eight-legged motherfucker and give me my damn key before I squash you with the bottom of my shoe run away screaming like a lil bitch
Great, time to talk to creepy Gilbert and cringe as he openly hits on a girl at least 30 years younger than him. There is no May-December romance going on here, buddy.
Thanks for the gumbo, Shorty, but it does not make up for the fact you attempted to murder my best friend. And no, she has not picked those vegetables for you yet
Okay, I just laughed my ass off. After eating spicy gumbo, Bess burped out fire. I had no idea she was a dragon
I played this goddamn skeeball machine so many times. The things I do for eyeballs and Easter Eggs.
Summer, Summer, Summer. Smh. Now I ain’t sayin she a gold digger...
Henry: “I bought her a bunch of CDs to keep her occupied while I was gone.” Yeah...Summer is just gonna sit in her room, listening to the CDs you bought for her on a loop, just waiting for you to get back...
YOU DESERVE BETTER THAN SUMMER. YOU DESERVE ME.
I love Iggy so much. Dressing him up is adorable af
🎶 Bernie with a tooth so sweet. Likes marshmallows but it’s you he’d love to eat🎶 (I sang this to the tune of Brigitte’s Ballad)
Renée: “oh my, I forgot to warn you about Bernie, didn’t I?” *grins evilly* Could you contain your excitement that I was almost devoured by a crocodile until I fucking walk away?
I actually like the cemetery scavenger hunt, a lot
I love how Iggy just huffs and dips the fuck out when you dress him up as a clown. “You get nothing for this. I ain’t coming back with anything. WHO’S THE CLOWN NOW?”
Lamont’s Lament: Part 2
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I seriously feel for Lamont. All he wants to do is run his curio shop in peace, and here comes this blonde twister wreaking havoc all over his night
Someone give Bess a Xanax. Poor girl is gonna have a panic attack with all of the stuff Nancy is asking her to do
Infiltrating the Jolly Rogers meeting is definitely my favorite sequence in this game
Y WOULD U CALL ME WHEN U KNOW I’M AT THE MEETING UNDERCOVER, NANCY? Thx for almost killing me, ur bff xoxo
Yup, just toss the priceless skull up to Renée like it’s a freakin’ football. You are not on the same team here, Nan.
Bernie the Immortal crocodile. Who would have thought at the beginning of the game, we’d end up with this resolution.
Hahaha of course, Lamont is out in the swamp looking for Bernie. If anyone in this game deserves the skull, it’s deff him anyways.
One of my favorite games, ever. So happy I replayed it🖤
