OMG i love that!!!! blondie are SO good i love dancing to their stuff. do you have a favorite blondie song? its been good! very rainy & i had a test but i think i did good on it:) how was yours? top ten, i realised halfway thru i'd run of of like. text so i stopped giving long explanations … i am just very. talkative sometimes haha 1) lulu by metallica & lou reed: i am very much aware that it is considered one of the worst albums ever created but i PERSONALLY think thats cuz people just dont understand the concept of it. & are not familiar w/ lou's work. i think its a masterpiece i think its a very unique and poignant album and listening to it makes me go insane. i think its really just a phenomenal album and i will literally die on this hill. my #1 album of all time 1.5 (2) bummer by cleopatrick: i sometimes cite this as my favorite album of all time when i don't feel like causing drama over lulu. more often i'll cite it as my favorite album of all time because i am the hardcore cleopatrick fan ive been listening to them since like. 7th grade and i love this album so MUCH its literally so good, the lyrics are flawless the flow is phenomenal the drumming on this is LITERALLY unparalleled. and the guitar tone is SO good. and all the songs are sooooo good like 2008??? literally one of the best songs ever. great lakes is a masterpiece and so is vic park and the drake and…its just SO good. instantly lifts my mood 3) welcome to hell by venom: i love the evil vibe plus ppl take it so seriously when venom literally wear the sluttiest outfits possible
4) blank generation by richard hell: my first introduction richard hell was an article by lester bangs where he talked about how he thought richard hell's music is incredible and how he thought that richard hell had a great grasp of the problems of being alive in the 70s but his solutions were absolute dog shit. which made me want to listen to the album, as a good review will, and now its one of my favorite records. forever mad this is the only proper LP they did. i love his delivery, the guitar work is so unique, and i think the lyrics are still so real & relevant 5) pretty on the inside by hole: sooo raw im a big courtney fan tbh i love her work. holes best album was for sure live through this (nobody's daughter is a close second imo!) but pretty on the inside is my personal favorite cuz its pink! & bc i think its the rawest of holes discog. i like the discordantness of it its so exciting to me 6) welcome the plague year self-titled: PHENOMENAL scramz album its so raw & i think its the best album from that era of scramz & i just adore it. 7) germ-free adolescence by the x-ray specs: prob the only british punk band from the 70s or 80s id cite as a favorite, i just adore everything abt this album 8) lets take it to the stage by funkadelic: groovy! funky! rocking! also i love bootsy collins 9) are you experienced by the jimi hendrix experience: cures headaches somehow?? not complaining though 10) rust never sleeps by neil young: first neil young album i listened to, hes definitely my favorite singer/songwriter of the 70s :) honorary mention to blue by joni mitchell, grateful dead's 13th february 1970 at fillmore east show even tho its not an album, opening fire by powertrip & killing is my business… by megadeth i think i've put you through enough reading with this for today so have a nice day!! i hope the whole thing sends LOL
-❄️
that’s such a good list! i’ve just gotten into richard hell recently, and i haven’t listened to that full album yet but i’ll have to give it a go for sure!!!
picking my favourite blondie song is so hard omg. i’d probably have to go with dreaming, denis or hanging on the telephone, but picture this, in the flesh and atomic are very much up there! what’s your favourite?

tagged bi @whoresvidal for these various music q’s thank uuuuu aradhana 👋😘🤙🥰✊😎
5 albums I can’t live without (in no particular order):
let it be/tim- the replacements
blonde on blonde- bob dylan
new adventures in hi-fi- r.e.m.
blue- joni mitchell
third- big star
Favorite song right now: in a pavement phase rn (keep takin pictures of roads !!!! :-D jk jk ) harness your hopes- pavement
Song I associate with my favorite ship: uhhh idk. sometimes i’ll be listening to favorite thing by the replacements and i’ll think about the time bob and david were at the montreal comedy festival and they were forced to share a room and they stayed up all night laughing and spent the day falling asleep on each others shoulders (according to janeane garofalo) and sometimes ill think maybe bob looked at david&was like... ur my favorite thing <3
A song that could be about me: every time i listen to girl from the north country i will swing my long hair over my breast and be like :0 me ????
A song that reminds me of a good memory: not what this question is looking for but i like love the song saturday by chicago now because it’s used in my favorite stella sketch. and im like i know i fucking hate this song except now i love it because the association is just so positive it overcomes everything
A song I find overrated: I even like shiny happy people but the one r.e.m. song that can just drive me nuts is everybody hurts. i kind of like it in the context of automatic for the people but i really do not care for it as a single. and everybody shits on shiny happy people and i get it but what about everybody hurts.
A song I find underrated: I don’t know how it is not a more popular opinion that answering machine is the best ‘mats song. but paul agrees w/ me and that’s all that matters <3
A song I want my mutuals to listen to: if i could get more people on old people tumblr to listen to the replacements i would be so so happy. but barring that uh she floated away- husker du
A song that makes me laugh: sounds of science bestie boys :)
Last song I listened to: freak scene -🦖jr
This was a good ‘ol time !!! i’ll tag @indiedadrock @brutefury @roadsideprophets @jspaceman iffen y’all would like 2 👽

your wish is granted! (albeit like 1 month late)
the kiss list
prompt for this oneshot is: Routine Kisses Where The Other Person Presents Their Cheek/Forehead For The Hello/Goodbye Kiss Without Even Looking Up From What They’re Doing
pairing: kurt x blaine
summary: three chronological kisses that probably happen all the time. neither kurt nor blaine will ever get tired of them.
authour’s note: im kinda proud bc i boshed this one out in one night and it’s like one am as im writing this and i’m sleep deprived but i kinda really like this lil drabble so hope you like it!!!
read on ao3 or read the rest of these little fic prompt fills here
----------
1. Goodbye with the Car Lights Off Kiss
It’s Ohio, and if any gay couple knows they have to be careful, it’s Kurt and Blaine, because they’ve both lived here all their lives and they know what it’s like here.
But Blaine’s still at Dalton, as much as Kurt has asked him (he’s starting to go a little mad with Blaine’s ‘But the warblers are my friends!’ speech), and they really don’t get to see each other as much as they’d like to, with the distance and schoolwork and how Kurt’s stressing over his room because he’s planning to redecorate it soon, and he needs absolute silence to work out the correct shade of blue to match his complexion, so these moments are precious to them.
They went to the movies, had to just go as ‘friends’ of course, but it’s not like Kurt’s going to be comfortable enough anyway to start making out with Blaine at the back of the cinema - he’s always too worried about the other people there, anyway. Still, he does think about it, thinks about simply being able to hold hands on a date without the fear of vulnerability, because here, the love they share isn’t an easy obstacle to overcome. Not to other people, at least.
So it’s in the car that they can truly be themselves, Kurt driving Blaine home in his navigator and Blaine just looking at him like it’s the most natural thing to do, and Kurt is a little too aware of it, just keeps his eyes on the road.
Some way through the journey, though, his hand moves off the steering wheel, finds Blaine’s in the middle, clutches it. And they both don’t say anything, because nothing needs to be said. Kurt is just happy they have this time, now. They listen to Joni as she sings her high notes, ‘I’ve been to sea before…’ and push on, the relaxing sound of the car engine washing over Blaine’s ears, the calmness of late-night drives home putting him at ease. Kurt squeezes his hand as a signal pf finality before putting it back on the wheel, getting wary of the harsh darkness of the night. And Blaine looks out the window, wistful.
*
When Kurt drops Blaine off, a blocks down because Blaine’s dad is iffy about parking (they both know that’s not what he’s really ‘iffy’ about in that situation), it’s weird how there’s sudden silence - that silence signals the end of the journey, and Blaine already misses Kurt; Joni’s not singing anymore and Blaine’s heart pulls because he knows Kurt plays it because it reminds him of his mom, and Blaine loves the originality of the singer’s voice.
They turn the lights in the car off because it’s Ohio, they really do have to be careful and it’s nearly eleven, and Kurt reaches over again and grabs Blaine’s hand, notices how his face is shadowed by the moonlight, smiles lightly.
Blaine says, words blurring together slightly now he’s a little tired, “I’ll see you at the football game on Sunday?”
Kurt sighs, “Yeah. Not if I can help it.” and Blaine laughs, looks down and shakes his head. His watch beeps eleven ‘o clock, and it’s curfew now, and Blaine needs to leave.
“I… need to go.” He mumbles although it’s exactly the opposite of what he wants to do, and Kurt breathes in and nods, so adult-like the way he does it, like he’s always leading these situations like he’s grown up to be this way because he had to.
“I’ll miss you,” He says and the moonlight is the only light in the car, “See you soon.” and kisses Blaine, lingering for just a moment with the car lights off and the rest of the world quiet around them, and when Blaine pulls back he says, “Love you.”
Kurt smiles, “Love you too.” and Blaine opens the car door.
2. The Shopping List Kiss, but engaged
“So we’ve got…” Kurt takes a moment to recount in his brain everything they need from the store, “peas, milk, wine…”
“Balsamic vinegar!” Blaine exaggerates, and it’s almost hysteric how Kurt can see him thinking back to the salad they had the night before, no dressing at all and basically just some salad leaves in a bowl.
“You know how expensive that stuff is…” Kurt trails off, but writes it down on his little A6 pocket notebook anyway because Blaine has a look of such desperation on his face like if he doesn’t buy balsamic vinegar it will be the end of the world, and clicks the top of the pen as he thinks again: don’t need any more flour, Blaine bought like two packs of that last week and then I cried over making him a Bakewell tart; don’t need any more butter, there’s still that weird vegan stuff in the fridge; we’ve already got orange juice…
Blaine says, interrupting Kurt’s thoughts, as boring as they may be, “Would you be so kind and get some full-fat milk instead of skimmed? It tastes like water, Kurt.”
Kurt looks at him, eyebrows raising, “Are you criticising my milk choices?”
“...Yes.”
“How does full fat even make a difference? It’s literally just milk.”
“It tastes like water!”
The sound of a click on his pen again - Kurt’s fiddling with it as he presses it against the notepad, thinking thinking thinking. He says, “Only if I get a kiss first,” and raises his eyebrows expectantly and taps his cheek, and Blaine gets up from where he’s sitting at their tiny dining table, puts his hand lightly on Kurt’s forearm as he presses his lips to the skin with a loud smack, and Kurt laughs, “Fine.” and adds the words ‘full fat’ to where he’s written ‘milk’
3. Welcome Home Kiss, and husbands now
Blaine’s mind is a whirl of different worries, his bag filled with papers to mark and grades to give and there’s a lot to think about, recapping through his day; how his teaching assistant is off sick with some sort of awful flu thing and it’s hard, managing everything on his own when his kids can be so unpredictable and he is new to this. But he’s good at what he does. He knows that.
He’s barely moving consciously during his journey home, through the New York subway just like many of the other people here on their daily nine-to-five. It’s so relative to him now, this journey - he doesn’t really think about it anymore. He just knows that when he gets home, Kurt is actually going to be there instead of working late in the office - things have eased off a little since fashion week ended - and it’s an incredibly comforting thought, that when he gets home, there’ll be Kurt there, real and beautiful and there. Blaine thinks about what he might be doing, maybe he’s got the wicked soundtrack on, maybe his soft voice is singing sweetly to the melodies of Joni Mitchell’s voice - something that always reminds Blaine of when they were young, or maybe he’s making dinner, sizzling in the pan - his signature stir-fries are always delicious.
And Blaine is so happy he’ll be home.
*
He opens the door and there Kurt is, scrolling through his phone as he leans against the counter near the hob where there’s some pasta boiling (it’s rigatoni - Kurt will always lecture Blaine about how it is the superior pasta shape) and some sort of sauce on the go too, and if he listens closely there is Joni Mitchell playing in the background, and Blaine smiles because A Case of You will always be one of his favourite songs.
He drops his bag on the floor and puts his coat up on the hanger by the door, walks over to his husband and kisses him quickly. “Hey,” he says, “smells delicious.”
Kurt hums appreciatively, “Hmm. Welcome home.”

Rules: list 10 songs that you can’t stop listening to, in no particular order, and tag 10 people
I was tagged by the lovely @todaviia to do this and encouraged to do explanations too, which I will definitely do because I love any excuse to thoughtfully analyze things I love!! Especially late at night when I should be sleeping...(also I’m 100% going to listen to all the songs you put and anyone who I tagged who does this, new music is fun but new music with stories behind it is even better!!)
1. American Tune - Simon and Garfunkel live at Central Park: ah the song that sums up being american, the lingering shame and sadness but also knowing you’re forever shaped and influenced by the mythology and ideology that makes this country what it is (i guess that’s not so unique but because its U.S.A. i guess it means something worse? idk man)... before i did my Austausch year in germany, my mom introduced this song ‘for when you miss this country’. i looked at her incredulously at the time but...i get it now.
2. Urge for Going - Joni Mitchell: its funny, i got into this song right before covid and now the title is my eternal mood. joni is lovely, all of her songs i really never tire listening to (thanks mum!). the melody! the guitar! the lyrics!! ‘i get the urge for going but i never seem to go’ hits something deep...university blues i suppose.
3. You’d be so Nice to Come Home to - Nina Simone: i rediscovered this song when i listened to my jazz playlist from two years ago. I have a very clear memory of walking along a highway lined with trees on the way back home from the dentist and listening to this, enthralled. The jazz standard I associate with my mom singing it and I think this version is the only one I like better than her’s (no one can beat Nina)
4. It’s a Sin - Pet Shop Boys: I have too many melancholy ones on this list so I had to add a boppy 80s one. This summer I heard it blasting and it hasn’t left my head since. It’s best heard turned up with your eyes closed so you get the best effect from the synths (the ‘father forgive me’ always throws me and then I look at the title like ‘oh right! that’s christianity!)
5. Something in the Water - Daveed Diggs: ok full disclosure most of what i’ve been listening to lately is daveed...i have mixed feelings about clippin. songs (they’re all good songs, some i like more than others) but this is from his movie ‘blindspotting’ (which i NEED to see) and is such a good song about gentrification (specifically about oakland but i think it could be applied to many cities in the world right now lmao fuck capitalism). anyway please talk to me about daveed diggs.
6. Parting Friends - traditional (but this is a pretty version): its a hymn from the 19th century but the harmonies are beautiful and really fun to sing with someone else, if you like choral singing. i think it meant a lot to me over the quarantine time just because i felt so separated from people, although the fear of losing friends is still here...
7. Transcend - Nyota Parker: I heard this on that video where all the proceeds went to racial justice organizations and totally loved it! Empowering and relaxing, that doesn’t happen in many songs. I think in a few years it will be one of those songs that takes me back to this time in a kind of 'oof’ way.
8. O Love is Teasin’ - Rhiannon Giddens: Another recently discovered song although I’ve known her for a while (carolina chocolate drops, great if you love bluegrass! although i have a feeling there won’t be a lot of bluegrass fans on tumblr lol). this song is less bluegrass, more haunting traditional (maybe a bit celtic? idk) i know when i leave this state, i’ll listen to her when i miss it :’)
9. When I’m Gone - Phil Ochs: I need to listen to this song every day because it reminds me what’s important, ya know? Fight the power, care for each other, live in the moment...Anti-war and union songs are common place around the campfire with my family so that’s another reason I need this song right now tbh. i need more phil ochs, woody guthrie, pete seegar, judy collins...
10. Everything I Am Is Yours - The Villagers: this came on while I was walking to class yesterday and I was in just the right mood to hear it so I’ve been obsessed with it ever since. Maybe its because I’m just always a closet romantic hah...it is a sickly sweet song but 🥺all the same
I tag: @manuelmueller @divckorigi @joshiikimmich @goretzkaaas @trentalexanders @dancefaeries @thomas-mvller @modricmio @robinsbckley @steviebergwijn and if anyone else took the time to read this then i tag you too!! because dang i feel appreciated!! please tell me about your music!
most of youse i’ve talked about music with which is why i tagged you (except meggie and joshiikimmich and i think i only talked about daveed diggs with emma lol), no pressure to do it of course!
im very tired. i hope this actually makes sense when you read it. why do i poor my heart out at 1am. i should not do this. goodnight.

once i heard harry covers joni mitchell im like "oh rip beck"
I'm kinda honoured.. blushing.. I just cannot describe it but this (also the one night BTS)is like just one of those moments where I feel like he gets me and knows what I need more than I do and ultimately is comforting. Like bro I'm getting that hs1 feeling again!!!! you can really feel the charisma, and life, and care and comfort when he plays these songs live. and a Joni cover! his love of mom rock!the way he listened to blue throughout the conception of the album and incorporated a dulcimer into his own music.. the fuzzy electric/acoustic effect.. the way he imitates Joni's little laugh at the end.. the earnesty in it all!!! I'm being melodramatic but fine line era is really getting me now ladies

With a voice that almost catches fire. Rosie Swan.
True creative energy in its raw state

“Songs of our Age”     ‘
SNAPSHOTS’
The audience looked up and with their ears in the ascendency.
 … were reminded.
I am the principal songwriter for this campaign,
I want to engage with : the 35s 40s 50s 60s+ year olds.
The forgotten generation, their generation, their call,
With help, I aim to promote and market this campaign successfully. Bridging the divide for those who overpay and flock to venues and stadia such as Hyde Park, Glasto and the like,
to see/hear and adore idols from a hundred years ago,  which is wonderful and  don’t get me wrong.
But im here, reporting for duty and ready to fill that gap in a sorely overlooked market.
I am one of the 35s 40s 50s 60s+ year olds  we really are all in this together ,
with our experiences, our energy and life force shared.
No apologies, no excuses, this is a huge opportunity.
I stand in common with these people, with my presence & my songs.
my audiences have spoken to me, they have called out my name at
the many pub/club/fest gigs I have done, they are my fan base to be called on as and
when the time is called on, which I feel is now..
They have listened transfixed when I have sung,
they have told me they hear Joni Mitchell in there.
The Blues. The Rolling Stones in there, but above all - “ the tenderness ” that’s what they have come to say,
about their generation “Rosie Live”.
then they say to me.
the music you compose is our generations music! our call!
your words and the melodies you write are the stories of our lives so far!
and they wonder why they have let a million years go by,
pretending to admire what they genuinely feel to be inferior,
and have gone along with the manufactured forgettables and associated samples from a hundred years ago,
then they say..
Your tunes are the “Songs of
our
Age”
“Relevant” to us,
Made for us in our image by rosie who we identify with and who identifies with us, who is our age, and knows how we feel.
We no longer wish to feel embarrassed.
