Once upon a time, an Alchemist came to the Kingdom of Night Vale, and the Prince fell madly in love with him.

Over time, the Alchemist grew to love him in turn, and they courted, and they were happy.

One day, the Alchemist, ever-curious, made plans to investigate the strange properties of a strange House in the kingdom, one that, despite appearing to be an ordinary house, Did Not actually Exist. However, on the first day of his investigation, he went missing without a trace.

No-one in the kingdom saw or heard from the Alchemist since. It was as though he'd vanished into thin air, like grains of sand lost in the wind.

The Prince was inconsolable.

This guy has the best (worst) au ever made, the fucked up family au. It includes Cecil Palmer, Abby Palmer (his sister), the Narrator from Stanley parable, Glados/Caroline from Portal, Benrey from HLVRAI and Archangel Gabriel from the Mandela Catalog.

Ok hear me out I know that sounds insane but this is tumblr what do you expect.

Now I know I forgot Abby in this but pretend she’s there okay? This is the best diagram I could make of this. Narrator and Glados are siblings because I say so (Glados is older), and everyone, except Gabe are cousins. They have taken over my mind tbh

Gabe thinks he’s smarter and better then the Night Vale Erkias so he gets frequently beat up by them, as you can see no one tries to stop them

Night Vale Summer Literature Camp au

(Dpxdc w/ a dash of wtnv)

Brief plot setup / background: Danny and Damian are twins, they were both trained to be co leaders of the loa. Danny and Damian had a very rocky relationship before coming to live with the Wanyes because of the fact that Danny had "specialized training", which was really Danny being experiment on with Lazarus water. During these experiments Danny and Respawn met, Danny for a long time considered Respawn as more of a brother to him than Damian, they still consider each other brothers but now Danny actually considers Damian a brother. One of the experiments done on Danny was an attempt to replace his blood with Lazarus water which made him need to drink a shit ton of Lazarus water for his body to keep producing blood, which is also how he managed to survive the portal accident of this au. On the summer of their 14th birthday (I headcannon their birthdays to be during the summer) Danny had begged their father to let him to go to a literature summer camp in a small town called Night Vale with his friends, Sam and Tucker, a program which lasts the entire summer. Bruce is reluctant to let him go because of the whole Lazarus water thing and so is Damian because it would be the first time they would be without each other for longer than a few days, but eventually other members of the family and other leaguers convince Bruce to let him go because Danny might develop an unhealthy dependency on them if they don't let him be independent.

As it turns out a whole class from a school called Casper High would be attending the camp as well. Chaos insues when Danny, Sam, Tucker, Jazz, and Jazz's cousin, Pearl, find an ancient portal underneath the town accidentally turning it on causing Danny who was standing in it to turn into a halfa, now the portal is premently turned on letting all kinds of creatures through.

(Sidenote: I have yet to listen to the actual Welcome to Night Vale podcast, the portal underneath the town came from me. I'm thinking about changing the town to Amity or just let it be a random ass town because of this. No WTNV characters will appear Night Vale is just the setting.)

First of all, welcome to the fandom! I hope you enjoy your time in our little corner of tumblr. There are countless great fics out there I could recommend you to read but I’ll try to keep the list short and simple for now. I don’t wanna overwhelm you!

Here’s my favorites:

Remember the lives we once lived — Unohanabbygirl

This is a series and it focuses on the Targs reincarnated in modern times. The first fic in the series I read was Forget me not, which focuses around a troubled and amnesiac Luke. The author creates such vivid world building in the fic, and the characterization of not only Luke but everyone else in the family is truly incredible. It’s so immersive and complex and I feel like a kid on Christmas whenever it updates. I also highly recommend you check out the other fics in the series — A whole new world in which I don’t belong (which focuses on Alicent’s backstory and is just so so so good) and Take me with you before you fall (Aemond’s life after he accidentally killed Luke!!) There’s nothing else like it in the world!

new contact: luke — Everild

This is also a modern au. It focuses on Aemond, who has joined the priesthood. It incorporates modern notions about incest, adding a delicious sheen of guilt and self-loathing around the entire fic. This, paired with a healthy dose of religious guilt, makes for an intriguing read that leaves you craving more.

Glass cases — lockandkey

Another modern au that centers around reincarnated Lucemond. It’s a bit of a slow burn (which I’m addicted to) and there’s a lot of tip-toeing around feelings in this fic! Overall very soft and a little bit angsty at times. I adore it!!

Ægishjálmur - theartificialintellect

I read each update as soon as it comes out, that’s how much I love this fic. It’s a viking au, featuring seer! Lucerys!! If you’re a fan of history or Norse mythology you’ll love this one. It’ll keep you on your toes and leave you wondering about all the mystery surrounding Luke’s visions and Aemond’s family.

Athamé - theartificialintellect

This is one of my favorite Lucemond fics. If you like old manor houses, strange occurrences in the night, and dark family secrets, this will be the perfect read for you. It has a very gothic romance/horror vibe that I always crave, and wraps up so well in the end.

Empyrean Blaze — theartificialintellect

Alright, I’m just a really big fan of theartificialintellect lol 💀 anyway, this fic is not for the faint of heart, but I still highly recommend it. It’s a dark fic, focusing around a demon Aemond and a vengeful Luke, so if that’s your style, go for it.

Time Has Gone — Minos_TT

An A/B/O fic set during Rhaenyra’s time on the iron throne. Luke has had Aemond’s bastard while in the Vale, and returns to King’s Landing with his son in tow. Secret kid plot lines are always a treat to me, and little Laenor in this fic is one of my favorite Lucemond kids!

The Holiday — archimedesprinciple

Another modern au!! I’m a sucker for fics framed around holidays, so this one was very comforting to read. It’s probably the Lucemond fic I go back to read most often, just so I can feel like it’s Christmas again.

In Darkness there is Love — springofmylove

Modern au again (I’m starting to see a pattern) Luke gets injured in this and loses his sight. Aemond takes his nephew under his wing and pining and tenderness follows. I adore the hell out of this fic and the way the author has written Lucemond’s dynamic.

Luke Rivers AU — Unusual-Raccoon

It takes quite a bit for me to fully enjoy smut (I’m asexual) but my friend here writes so well that I couldn’t help but to eat this series up. Aemond’s characterization is spot-on, as well — something I really appreciate seeing in fics!!

For the Wildest Mystery I Know — NinthRiver

This only has one chapter up but I adore it already. It features Luke (Lucerys Flowers in this) living a quiet life on his farm when Aemond shows up to turn his life upside down (again) I’m really looking forward to seeing where it goes!

a losing game — monkkeyslut

I recently started this one (late to the game) and it has me hooked. Set in modern times with the Targs as royalty, it incorporates the characters so well. It features a secret relationship between Lucemond, and brings a lot of miscommunication and oblivious idiots in love to the table.

Star-Crossed — DominaReginald

Another one I binged just recently! Luke gets taken hostage by the Greens and Aemond is absolutely down bad whipped for him. *chefs kiss* the best flavor!

you whom i should love above all things — ser_pounce

A modern au featuring a religious Aemond (yes I have a type) Things get steamy between Lucemond during a family holiday get-together and religious guilt and sneaking around pursues. Delicious stuff :)

no morning glory (it was war) — dandelion_weed

Another A/B/O (my beloved) in which Luke presents while in Winterfell. Aemond is very much not down with letting his nephew mate with someone else, so he takes matters into his own hands and heads out to claim Luke for himself. There’s only two chapters for now, but I still highly recommend it.

Magnus Archives. I know we’ve all thought about it. Especially with all the eye and Fears-adjacent imagery present throughout Malevolent.

Wolf 359 I just think it would be really fun for Eiffel and his English Language Fuckery to interact with Old Timey British Man Arthur Lester but also they could bond over their mutual self loathing over their pasts involving their past families. And I think Arthur and John would be fascinated by the idea of being on a spaceship.

Death By Dying. Again. I just think it would be really funny for Poor Little Meow Meow Arthur to interact with Skrunkly Obituary Writer

14. What’s your all time favorite ship? I despise this question and if this question had a face, I would punch it. I assume this has to be a ship I have written since this is a writing questionnaire.

In my heart of hearts, it's Karkat and Kanaya. I enjoy their platonic love more than any romance pairing....

SEE THE PROBLEM WITH THIS QUESTION is that I... think for me personally, the pairing is a vehicle of the wider story/themes, so I can't say "Oh its DirkJake" because to me the KTOWL DirkJake is wildly different from, like, TES DirkJake.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? The barely-inspired-by-Hellboy AU that I should probably just write as an original story. But I won't because I'm a coward, lmao.

16. What are your writing strengths? Consistency and structure, I think. I'm a tradesperson, not an artist.

17. What are your writing weaknesses? I feel like I lack a lot of foundational material that other artists have due to my lack of education and just generally not knowing things. Like, the kind of works I personally admire and learn the most from, I lack the toolset to create myself, which is constantly frustrating.

Structure is sometimes a shackle, and I often feel like I can't execute something truly Artistic because to me, writing is a trade, not an art.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? I do this sometimes and lemme tell you, every single fucking time I do, I rigorously check everything.

Like, I recently agonized over whether a character would use Verzeihung versus Entschuldigung in a fic, and that was a solid hour of research. Worth it tho!

I'm of the opinion that if you're just going to use google translate or something, then I would elect to write it as ["Excuse me," he said in overly-polite German as he passed], but that's me.

19. First fandom you wrote for? Uuuuuuuuh ppppppprobably Gundam Wing or something? Way back in the era when you could post smut on FF.Net.

20. Favorite fic you’ve written? Could it be anything other than KTOWL? Honestly.

So on top of my current obsessions with Our Flag Means Death, Good Omens, and The Sandman, I have also been obsessively listening to Welcome to Night Vale.

Someone tell me why I imagine the Dreaming to be sort of like WTNV? Like dreams are weird as shit, so while I know that we actually know what the Dreaming looks like, it still feels... fitting.

So now all I can think of is an AU where Dream is a radio host for Night Vale and Hob is a scientist who comes to study Night Vale (Cecil and Carlos/Dream and Hob).

9. Is there anything in the fic you're not so excited about writing?

There are two very dense chapters way down in the draft that basically go:

Roy has an important conversation

Dani and Jamie have an important conversation

Jamie tells Isaac, Colin, and Sam what's been going on

Jamie talks to Ted; Ted talks to Roy about what Jamie talked to him about

Jamie tells Keeley what has been going on

Roy has a cool down talk with Trent

The Diamond Dogs have a meeting

And while they are all very different conversations, with gaps of time between, right now I am not sure what specifically is going in those gaps. Which is good, because that leaves me with room to let the story grow. But it is also awful, because I look at those two chapters in particular and think fucking hell. Fucking hell that is a lot of talking. Not light talking either, those need to be powerhouse scenes. What the fuck where you thinking?

Have I mentioned yet that this is very much Talking: The Fic. Because it is very much Talking: The Fic.

12. How far have you planned ahead?

The whole thing! Right now it is 17 chapters, and most of them have a fairly solid structure of plot points to hit. The current 17th chapter is technically an epilogue, and I've written a solid chunk of it, including the entirety of the last scene. I tend to write towards an ending, so I need to see the structure before I can really hit a groove.

(with the exception of the welcome to night vale au, which I started as a loosely connected group of short themed stories and it. grew. oops. That has an ending too now)

Her only option is to try and solve the mystery that is The Quiet Heights, with its strange residents, friendly witches, an ominous all-knowing Library and a creepy Neighborhood Advisory Council that may or may not be behind most of the things going wrong. Heavily inspired by: Welcome To Night Vale, Buffy, Silas University from Carmilla web series.

I was thinking that we know a lot about your Au. But do you think you can tell us a bit more about yourself? It doesn't have to be something super personal or anything heck you could even ignore this ask if you want. Just a though.

You wanna know more about me? Well I'm flattered but I'm not that interesting. But I can give ya a couple fun facts.

- I am one of ten kids, right near the middle too I'm number six.

- I hate hot weather and love quirky sweaters!

- I've always wanted to travel but never really had the time nor money for it. But I'm trying to save up!

- my favorite fruit is blackberries.

- my favorite food is practically any kind of soup and bread, but specifically cheese and broccoli soup.

- I get restless when it's too quiet so I end up listening to a lot of music and podcasts, my favorite podcasts right now are Red Web, Welcome to Night Vale and Unlicensed.

- my families always had dogs. I've never personally had a pet myself, but I find myself really wanting a cat.

- I've always wanted to be a professional artist but when I was in school I wasn't allowed to so I never really found out how to go about it, I regret it alot now. But being able to share my art here really helps!
