Friendly reminder that Snape actually believed Sirius, Remus, and James were in on the werewolf prank and that they all tried to kill him. He believed his bullies were all capable of murder for nearly two decades and had only found out it was just Sirius during the Shrieking Shack scene in Prisoner of Azkaban.

So when you keep this in mind while looking at Snape going to Dumbledore to protect the Potters, remember that Snape thought James had tried to kill him at least once and didn’t care whether he lived or died. I’ve seen a lot of antis criticising him for only seeming to care about Lily because he asked Voldemort to spare only her, but many forget that 1. Harry was 100% going to die, Snape couldn’t ask his Master to not kill the main reason he’s going to the Potters in the first place, that’s a stupid idea. 2. Snape thought James had no problem with killing him (not just not caring if he died, he thought James was actually okay with killing Snape himself) — even putting aside everything else James and Co did to Snape, why would Snape want him to live?

Yet after all that, Snape went to Dumbledore to protect the Potters even though Voldemort had already agreed to spare Lily (the one whose death would break him), showing that he put aside his hatred of James and—to some extent—wanted Lily’s loved ones to be safe as well as Lily. We already know Lily’s happiness meant a lot to Snape, seeing as he automatically never bothered her again once she told him to leave her life after the incident in SWM. But going to Dumbledore, who could’ve easily killed him, in order to secure Lily’s protection would mean to protect the man who—as far as Snape knew—tried to kill him and an infant he never met, even after Voldemort already agreed to do what he wanted (and we see he actually tried to keep his promise, seeing as he gave Lily a choice to step aside, unlike James).

i’m curious 🤭

found the old display book where i stored my second (and longest)(and unfinished) fanfic and i’ll have you know the highlight was Severus stabbing a dragon in the throat with a poisoned dagger to save Hogwarts, in front of everyone 🙌🏻

he was able to jump on the dragon because he had ✨angel wings✨ black covered in ebony feathers, of course 🖤

and every chapter had deep poetic introductory quotes bc i was a dramatic teenager.

Even if Bellatrix thought he was lying (and let's face it, she does; in the book, she's interrogating him for like six pages lol) he really isn't because he's talking about Voldemort as well.

It's incredible, though, because Bellatrix was the only one who saw Snape for who he really was, and she hated him.

Seer!Regulus AU but it's people's death he keeps seeing and Riddle moves accordingly, depending on what Regulus has to say.

"Come here, my little bird. Sing to me," he calls out for him. The man smiles, as the sight of Regulus always warrants the same effect.

He walks slowly, lightly. Lucius steps to the side so he can pass but not before feeling the intensity of his jealousy. Severus is somewhere in the room, sure to be giving him a look of utmost disdain. Everyone else is deathly silent. For when he sings, people die.

He lowers himself down so the man can reach for his cheek. He leans into the caressing touch, thumbs lowering down to feel his lips. Regulus forces himself to look into blood red eyes who consume his very image with a hunger whose meaning doesn't need to be said.

"Tell me all about the things you've seen. What you've heard. My loyal raven, my precious gatherer— what have you come to bring me today?"

Regulus is very much familiar with the feeling of his bones singing with hatred. His entire being, flooded with deep loathing. His resentment simmers — perpetual and undying.

In front of him, is the man who threatens to take everything away. And oh, he's reminded of how much hate he can hold.

Tom. Motherfucking. Riddle. Just who the fuck does he think he is?

No worries. The Blacks have been around since the ravens first learned to sing the song of death. He knows when one's time is near.

He sings.

Tonight, someone dies and it isn't the man who wants to burn the whole world down.

The next time though... The next time he's called to sing. It'll be to herald the prophecy of Riddle's death-stiff body.

Between this one and the piece for "Corvids", I think am trying to draw somewhat more serious/darker pieces this year!
