The people in this fandom crack me up..why do people honestly watch this show? Ive read more in the tags about "the bar being so low"..can i ask when was the bar set high? And why for god sakes are you still watching it?? Its a teen drama set on the CW.. Like reality check..

Theres maybe 3 decent actors on this show imo ( Blackburn, Mason and St.John)..The storyline(s) is ..what exactly is it?? Still trying to figure that out. No character development. The show runners a douchebag..there..i said it. Any "statement" about social issues falls flat or is forgotten about. I mean god your lucky if it gets in the 600k ( OR there about) viewers on airing night ( Literally lowest rated show of EVERY NIGHT).. If people truly cared they would watch on the night it aired!..O and the baiting..of the ONLY halfway decent thing on this show..Malex..But I guess "hope is really a dangerous thing" even if the truth is staring you down in the face.. Open your eyes Carina will keep baiting you with words like "Endgame" and "Cosmic"..while M&M are ( what seems to be) a serious thing..like the original. And Alex is relagated to Forest ( kind of a lackluster romance not given more then 10 mins of screentime all season) Theres your sub par LGBT+ rep.. And the POC are done a serious disservice on this show either relegated to Significant Other (Maria) or Villian ( Helena, Flint, Noah) or used to fill empty scenes ( Rosa, Arturo).

I did figure out why Carina doesnt seem to care about ratings tho..and its not cause she cares about the show ( remember she only did it for the paycheck, her words). Because she can always write for another crap show..and the actors will yet again be recycled into another crap show on the network.

God I miss the days of good sci fi/ Fantasy like X-Files, Star Trek, Dr. Who, GOT (1-5), Farcape, Torchwood..Where the writers cared about what they were writing and the actors made you believe and conveyed that message. Where the pacing is more on par and a coherant and cohesive storyline would be nice ( an overarching season storyline) Not something thrown in half assed for literally the last 4 episodes..and where friendship actually MEANS something.. Not an afterthought.

I have to say that I too had high hopes when i first watched it on Netflix during the S1 hiatus..it was horrible then too but "campy" horrible like Evil Dead..now its just downright disappointing and a shitshow rolled into one..Fuck that sucks!

GOTG

My favorite thing about the movie, by far, is the role the Guardians of the Galaxy played in it.  They are my favorite, so that’s not surprising, but I honestly expected they’d be more like guest stars.  They will probably be benched for most of the second film tho, so I guess this makes up for it.

Everything about meeting Thor is absolutely perfect.  The crew’s fawning over him, Peter’s jealousy, “a pirate and an angel had a baby”.  Thor assuming Rocket is in command because Peter is being so childish.  I was laughing so hard for the whole thing, but my favorite moment was when Rocket goes to leave.  Peter has a short aside with him, not unlike their aside when Peter, Gamora and Drax leave Rocket behind on Behar in GOTG2.  Except they part on better terms, indicating how much both characters have grown.

Canon Starmora caught me a bit off guard, but then it’s been a couple years since GOTG2, and now the unspoken thing is now spoken.  That’s an area rich for fanfic to fill in.  I think my main issue was that tonally that seen just careems all over.  Gamora’s flashback, begging Peter to kill her, then they’re kissing.  Then Drax interrupts.  Of all the moments in the film, this one need to breathe a little more to let it happen more naturally.

My favorite part of the movie might be the bit on Knowhere: Gamora’s grief when she thought she killed Thanos, and Peter’s attempt to kill her.  The first GOTG shortchanged Gamora’s decision to move against Thanos and why; at that point she’s just made up her mind.  So I loved seeing a bit more of their family dynamics.  Peter’s attempt to kill her went on a bit too long IMO, but I loved the whole concept.  I didn’t think he’d be able to do it, but he tried! My poor baby.  He’s grown so much.  I can forgive him his ultimate actions, they are understandable and there’s plenty of material to support him.  

Gamora’s too make sense.  I am most upset about that particular death, as her character arc is REALLY NOT COMPLETE.  In my GOTG2 meta I discuss how she’s just barely begun to learn to deal with her emotions.  She’s apparent come some distance since then, since she can tell Peter she loves him. But if this is really the end for her, she won’t ever get to complete her arc and I hate that.  I assume she’s bound with the soul stone and will be back, but I HATES IT PRECIOUS.  FUCK YOU RUSSOS/MARKUS AND MCFEELY IF YOU RUINED THE ARC OF ONE OF MY FAVES.  It would be a really poor choice to fridge her like that, for fucking Thanos and Peter. FUCK.

Anyway, all the Guardians are used to absolute perfect effect within the larger story and with perfect characterization so bless James Gunn for co-producing. Mantis and Drax could have been easily sidelined, and while they don’t really have arcs of their own, they are used to great effect.  

THOR

Thor is my second favorite part.  He zings with everyone, although I didn’t expect the team up of him and Rocket.  It makes perfect sense to send him on a quest, which mirrors his quest to be worthy of the hammer in the original Thor.  It even requires a trial.  And his arrival on Earth with Rocket and Groot is one of the greatest moments ever put on film.

Kinda pissed about Loki tho, even though what we did see of him was perfect.

Other than the Guardians, Thor and Hulk are the only characters who haven’t been in character stasis since Phase 2.  Which is thanks to Ragnarok so BLESS TAIKA WAITITI

STARK/STRANGE/PETER

The Facial Hair bros are not my favorite, but I do appreciate the Stark/Strange pair up.  Their friction is immediately believable and it works. This is Tony’s worse nightmare - not only was he worried he was going to die in space, but now Peter Parker is there too.  It’s really the only climax they could do for Tony at this point, although I’m pretty pissed his character has basically been in neutral since The Avengers.  We’ve seen him try to overcome his fears, try to compensate for them, try to protect against them, and he hasn’t really grown much as a character since then.  He’s struggled, but it hasn’t gone anywhere and it leads him here anyway.  Worse, rather than just be responsible for the Avengers who are at least powerful adults in their own rights, he has Peter who is there because of his actions.

Just cause Tony is a popular character is not a good reason to leave his character spinning until they could get to this movie.  BAH.

Thank goodness for Peter.  I died at his Aliens references.  He lightens up the two Facial Hair bros who would otherwise get too dire.  This group gets a lot better when the Guardians show up tho.  They all get to zing off each other.

I just want Peter and Peter to talk more pop culture.  I really need to write that fucking heist fic for the two of them.  SO MUCH. Fuck.  Anyway, Tom Holland was pure perfection and also used really, really, really well.  

THANOS

I saw praise for developing actual motives for a villain and making him understandable.  Overall I feel pretty meh about Thanos though - he works excellently as a foil for both Avengers and GOTG but independently I don’t think he’d be that interesting.  He’s certainly no Loki or Ego.  It made sense to make this movie his movie, his quest, given where it ended, but I still feel it was a little underdeveloped.  Why go after the stones right this second? What’s he been doing since the Avengers, besides having the gauntlet made?

TEAM CAP

If this movie makes one mistake, it’s who they choose to leave on Earth.  The problem with sending all your funny people to space is that everything on Earth after that sort of lagged.  The only relief was really Bruce reacting to everything he had missed while he was gone, plus whatever lines they could scrounge up for Rhodey and Sam and Oyoke.  The sidekicks do all the heavy lifting but the Earth scenes lack the cohesion of the rest of the movie.  It’s mostly set up and dreary exposition.  If I cut anything out of the movie (besides making every battle shorter) I would cut out Rhodes talking to the Colonel.  That whole scene is WAY too long to establish that Cap is still a criminal and Rhodes was on the other side. 

Honestly, of the many failures Civil War had, one really evident one here is the lack of my ability to care for Vision and Scarlet Witch.  Neither of those characters nor their romance has been developed enough for the importance the plot tries to place on them.  It was present in Civil War but never really clicked.  I think it’s partially the ridiculousness of the very young-written SW in combination with the ridiculous purple android.  The relationship never manages to feel real.

The best part was Black Widow, Scarlet Witch and Oyoke all fighting together, and I want my female Avengers movie.

Cap is given basically nothing to do but show up and look cool.  I’m assuming he will therefore have a bigger part in the next movie, but FUCK if I’m not still pissed at the Russos/ M&M for continuing to kick the Stucky can down the road.  As far as I’m concerned, they’ve never reached and real emotional catharsis or resolution that was promised in Winter Soldier.  Poor Bucky literally keeps getting PUT ON ICE as they used CW to set up this movie, and used this movie to set up Avengers 4.  Deeply uncool. 

FINAL THOUGHTS

The ending sucked.  I hate walking out of a movie theater on a down note.  I get where we are in the structure and why they did it and it will ultimately be fine, but it’s not a great place to end the movie.  It was almost as bad as walking out at the end of Deathly Hollows 1.  It would have been worse, had we not known pretty much everyone that dies has another movie scheduled.  I am kind of glad most of the Guardians are gone actually, since if Gamora is gone at least the others aren’t there to mourn her.  Pretty harsh to leave poor Rocket alone tho, as he’s the least capable of dealing with it. He’s going to make a good foil for Tony in the next movie. 

The stinger at least helped.  The nerd boys in the row behind me thought Fury was calling Nova and I had to correct them that it was Captain Marvel.  They were like “Oh, her.” Fucking sexist ass nerd boys can’t get excited for Captain Marvel.  It will be a great move into Phase 4 to have her show up and work with Gamora in the Soul stone to save all these emotional constipated male superheros who just can’t seem to deal with their issues.

Putting Avengers members with the GOTG crew really just highlights how much of Phase three has been treading water to get here, for every Avengers character but Thor and Hulk.  I absolutely blame Markus and McFeely and Civil War for this too.  Poor Tony has been stuck since IM 3 but Civil War could have done a lot more than look cool and manufacture conflict to get everyone in the right position for this movie.   

TLDR: Infinity War is better than Civil War but suffers for the lacks in CW, just as it’s buoyed by the strengths of the other franchises.  And fuck Markus and McFeely.

I was just curious.  And I mean no hate but just Because you ignore the bad he does or compares all the bad things to the good things he does and sees there is more good than bad doesn't erase the fact that he still does these bad things, but saying that means the supercorp shippers shouldnt ignore all the good things he does too. I know how to keep my opinion of A Character I dislike in my ship tag and I will say sorry on behalf of the supercorp shippers who do this to you guys. I cant change what they do with what they post but instead of fighting about it I would ask them to take it down. And the supercorp shippers are not the only ones who goes to the opposite tag to distribute hate. The karamel shippers do this on IG a lot. We post joke about monel that are funny to us to bring out a laugh but we don't set it in your guys tag yet they decided they want to fight about it. I know its not you but you should be aware that this is not one sidedactions.”

Okay, I totally get that you weren’t trying to hate on me, that’s the reason I answered you, because you were actually very polite and I appreciate that. I wasn’t trying to hate on you either with my answer. Just trying to clarify my motives. It seems like I didn’t do a very good job, did I? (English is not my first language and I suck at explaining myself). So I’ll try again: The reason why I made those gifsets (it’s not just that one you saw. I’m giffing every scene I consider to be important) is because I love that character and I think there are some scenes that are pretty underrated or literally ignored by some people and that are important for the development of the character.

I’m very aware that Mon-El is not perfect, far from it, and believe me, I have never ignored something he has done wrong. In fact I don't see characters I love (even tho I still love them) as perfect beings who can do no wrong. I don't do that with Mon-El or with any other character from any other show I watch. The fact that Mon-El made mistakes is what makes him interesting. That is the whole point of his plot, he is going from being a selfish and spoiled person (as he admitted in 2x16) to being a person willing to help and fight for what is right and to sacrifice himself for the sake of others. That is character development. The writers are trying to build "the hero's journey" and you may not agree, but I think they’ve done a very good job. The problem is that even though I'm able to point when he does something right or when he does something wrong, many other people see everything in black and white and they ignore things that have happened in canon. One of those things is that Mon-El in canon said that he does not like or agree with slavery (as it has been seen in 2x09, 2x16 and 2x17), something that the antis continue using as an argument to insult us.

I really appreciate that you were trying to help us. The fact is that we (karamel fandom) have asked these post hijackers/tag invaders to stop doing that. Their answer was always NO. All of them have always given us very rude answers. We see hate in our tags on a daily basis. Chris Wood (he's just an actor who's trying to do his job) receives hate on social media on a daily basis. I've receive death threats for shipping karamel (and I'm not the only one). People from our fandom who have been abused were treated as if their situation did not matter and have been insulted, people from the LGBT community who are part of our fandom have been called homophobic. Members of your fandom have created multiple tumblr accounts with pro karamel urls for the sole purpose of hijacking our post and insult us. They also decided it was a good idea to boo every Mon-El scene at a screening in LA (in front of producers and cast members of the DC/CW shows). Btw, that screening was a charity event for kids. It is one thing to defend your ship, it is another to bully people you know nothing about just because we don't like the same thing as you (again, I’m not talking about you personally, just explaining what’s going on here). 

I’m aware that not evey SC shipper is a bad person, just like I’m aware that not every KM shipper is a good person. In fact, I’ve blocked some karamel shippers because I really don’t like the way they were behaving.  On the other hand, I'm sure that I have 90% of members of your fandom blocked, either because they are very immature people and have insulted us in one way or another or because their only purpose in live is to make our tumblr experience a living hell. For example, I would love to reblog some Kara and Lena gifs because I really like their friendship, unfortunately I can't because most of the blogs who make Kara and Lena content are blocked.

I’m not aware of the situation on Instagram because I don’t have an account, and I’m sorry if members of my fandom have been rude to you guys, that’s not what we stand for. We have called out people who have displayed that type of behavior in the past. I hope it is resolved soon. I just wish everyone would stay in their line and let people enjoy whatever they enjoy. Ship wars are pointless and stupid and I'm ashamed that a wonderful show like Supergirl have such a toxic fandom.

In case I wasn't clear, I have never pretended to be rude or hate on you with this post. Just trying to make you understand my point of view, just as I try to understand yours.

Edit: I just checked your blog and I saw that you wrote an anti Mon-El post and you tagged it as #Monel. You know, if you're trying to get members of your fandom to stop doing that and you do the same, then what is the point?. Anti tags exist for a reason, please use them and don't post hate on the #MonEl tag. Let’s be respectful with one another. I'm politely asking you to remove that post from the pro tags, just like you suggested us to do in this kind of situations.

On Supergirl

Hello there. I’m going to rant about this show for a bit. Before the finales airs. 

Listen, I was excited and thrilled about Supergirl when it was announced. Then I fell in love with it when it premiere and even though season one wasn't perfect, it was lovely and I loved it.

It was a show I was always up to watch and had this happy feeling to it. It leaved me, always, in a good mood.

When it was announced that season 2 was going to move to The CW (hell) I was a bit worried, because this network has shown time and again that it does not care about its viewers.

And I don’t just mean LGBTQI viewers, or minority viewers. I actually mean all viewers. They have act in a way that tells me they just care about buzz and money.

So not even its content or actors matter much to them.

They do know how to cast, though. Their casting teams are top notch, for sure. They know how to cast very attractive, charming people.

But I trusted the producers of the show, they have given me no reason not to.

When they said Superman was going to be in the first few episodes of the season, and when I saw how heavily promoted that was, I became a little more worried.

But then it happened and I was pleased with the result. Not only Alex Danvers put Superman in its place. But Kara remained her adorkable lovely main self.

Then Mon-Hell happened and I just knew something was wrong. Because, sure, we had Trashwell Lord in season one, but he was clearly the villain. Mon-Hell is presented to us a charming dude.

He’s the worst kind of villain there is. The “nice guy”. He’s disrespectful, lazy, an abusive. I’m sorry, I know some love him and that kind of dude.But the fact that he is cute and good looking and plays with a nice smile on its face, doesn't excuse his awfulness.

He constantly lashes out at Kara and insults her and/or brings her down. He doesn’t listen to her or her wishes, he calls her his weakness (a perfect excuse to justify his awfulness) He constantly blames all his faults on her and how she makes him feel.

Ok, I didn’t want to talk about the dude. Sorry, it’s pointless to try and reason with people who defend him. And frankly exhausting. I mean he was a literal slave owner, he lied to Kara the whole time about who he was.

“Oh, but he disagree with his parents about the slave thingy”. Yes, and also did nothing about it. Unless you count having orgies a form of protest against slavery.

Anyway, I have tried to keep my faith in the Supergirl team, writers and producers. I have. But every time I see this guy who’s placed as a being funny, I mean his awfulness is supposed to be hilarious. It just makes it so hard.

So I focus on the good stuff: Sanvers mainly. Almost exclusively, tbh. Lena Luthor.

But look at all of the downsides: We lost Cat Grant, Lucy Lane and Agent Vazquez. Kara’s normal life as a reported is hardly even subplot. We pretty much lost James Olsen. J’onn faded slowly to the background.The Superfriends were manhandled. The SuperSisters are a shadow of what they were (this is the worst, because this is the most important thing in the whole show. period).

Don’t get me wrong, there has been good stuff (Sanvers) M’gann came and then it was gone, which sucks. I feel like they exchanged us all this amazing female characters and a couple of male characters of color for this one toxic dude.

Sanvers is amazing. Is healthy and treated right and wonderful. I hate that they try to pitch Maggie and Kara against each other over Alex, tho. 

But, I’m sorry, you don’t get free pass on being horrible in the rest of the plot just because you have this great lesbian couple.

And I swear to the cosmos, if they make Lena Luthor evil (because she’s a Luthor she must be a villain. Not like Mon-Hell, the slave owner, he is not to be judged for his family. She is, tho), I’ll burn the place down.

I confess I am behind. A show I couldn’t wait to see, now I find myself avoiding. because of one dude. Because Kara is suddenly reduced to the woman who has to make all the sacrifices for a guy, because poor him he’s new, he doesn’t know better.

It’s not even about SuperCorp or SuperCat. I was going to ship whatever the hell I want to ship either way. But tossing James like that (seriously what a disservice) just to force Mon-Hell into the plot... ugh.

I really want to keep my faith in Supergirl. I really, really do. I want to have this show back. I want to see my girl being her adorable, angry, awesome self. I want the SuperSisters, I want all the fantastic female characters. I want the SuperFamily and the Superfriends back.
