Update: you made their day with the fan pictures from Cancun 🤣 (sorry if this sends a few times, tumblr crashed three times lol) “Please don’t encourage the nonsense, kiddo. On the off chance we have your sister home for the holidays she’ll give the raccoon the leftover turkey. You’re always welcome though, kiddo! Especially since you shared those pictures of Jared with some fans from his trip to Cancun! Mom loves how carefree he looks, she said he has a smile that could put anyone at ease and Jensen is very lucky to have such a handsome man lol! Mom is a big fan of Jared’s beard and she especially loves Jensen’s longer hair, she said that they’re aging like fine wine. I have to agree, we’re sad the show ended but it seems that the time away from it has done them good. Although there have been a few times we can tell that they aren’t exactly happy, but that’s a whole other problem. Mom watched the livestream Jared’s sister did with her friend Kelly and the other lady, she said it was one of the best livestreams she’s ever done! Mom said she was adorable, wholesome, funny, and the perfect amount of awkward that made you feel like it was a genuine thing she wanted to do and not something that was forced upon her. Mom said she hopes that Jared’s sister is able to do more things like this in the future because it’s when her real personality shines through. It wasn’t perfect, she wasn’t reading from a script, and it was real. Hopefully she’ll fight for more room to do what she pleases or at the very least her team listens to her and sees how well the fans reacted to this particular livestream. Your mom really wants it to be fair on both sides, she wants everyone living their lives how they want and no one person pulling all the weight when it comes to bearding. She apologies for going so far with all that lol, but she gets passionate about equality! Your sister is an asshole, kiddo. She reminded us that we should be expecting another bookclub video with the siblings soon because October’s coming to a close and they haven’t done their discussion with the author yet. I hate that she reminded us of that, kiddo. She likes to see us miserable, apparently. O Brother, Where Art Though was one hell of an episode! I’m torn because I really do love the acting that goes into Lucifer but I also hate him for obvious reasons. Does he kill trench coat and then himself? If that’s the case I’m happy he’s back! Your mom said she hopes Dean kills trench coat, but at this point I don’t care who does it as long as he dies. I really hate Amara, she makes my skin crawl and this connection to Dean is creepy. Mom cried when Sam shed a tear in the cage, he’s always so hopeful and it’s always crushed in the most devastating of ways. I was really hopeful that the visions were coming from God, why can’t the poor boy ever have something good happen? The Devil in the Details. I hate that stupid asshole angel!!! Why is he still on this show? What good has he honestly done? He saved Dean, but that was only because he was told to do so! You and I both know he wouldn’t have on his own accord! I cannot believe this is happening. The whole episode wasn’t a complete disaster, but that ending ruined any good thing that did happen! This is absolute garbage and I’m very upset right now, kiddo! Who does this stupid trench coat wearing moron think he is? Maybe to rid Sam of Lucifer for good they have to kill him while he’s inside of trench coat! That could work and it will have made this all more bearable. Video of the moment was like a soothing touch on a burn, it’s when Jared mentions he dreamed of him and Jensen playing rock, paper, scissors lol! Then a fan teaches them sign language, they’re such dorks at conventions and we love it!”

Jared made my day letting us know he was on Cancun
"Please don’t encourage the nonsense, kiddo. On the off chance we have your sister home for the holidays she’ll give the raccoon the leftover turkey. You’re always welcome though, kiddo! "
My two dogs would love my sister, they love people who give them leftovers so she would be their fav 😂
"Mom loves how carefree he looks, she said he has a smile that could put anyone at ease and Jensen is very lucky to have such a handsome man lol!"
He knows he is so lucky:,)

Fan: Did you expect it's got a fan base when you first started ike when the show started youd expect to have a 99.9 percent women fan base?
Jensen: Have you met Jared?

My Sam... My poor boy... Dean should find a way to put Sam in his pocket and he should carry him everywhere, protecting him and taking care of him. My boy...He deserves the world :,(

The blasting chorus of Follow Me Now by Jason Gleed, wakes Skyline up. Her Hazel eyes glare straight ahead at the coconut cream wall for a few seconds before bringing the cover above her head, trying to muffled the music. Which didn’t help. At all. Then to make the morning less fun, her bed begins to shake violently by her best friend who’s jumping up down awhile singing at the top of her lungs. Skyline groans into the covers and tries to bury herself deeper into the warmth, but before she can even hide, the covers are being shoved off her form. A shiver runs throughout her body from the coldness in the room.
“C’mon Sky! Today’s the day!” Erin yells as she hovers above,
Skyline groans once again, eyes closed shut when it’s far too bright in the room “Five more minutes,”
“No come on,” Erin says, slightly pushing Sky’s body with her foot, “Tiffany and Laila are already downstairs grabbing breakfast,”
Still not moving, Erin shoves her body once again with her foot, when that didn’t do the trick an evil smirk spreads on her face. Grabbing an unused pillow, she raises it above her head before roughly slamming it against Sky’s head, causing her to jerk upright. With sleep still in her eyes, Sky is only able to squint at her best friend.
“Erin! What the fu-,” Her words were cut off when a large pillow smacks her in the face,
Erin chuckles at her, ignoring the death stare as she hops off her bed, “Chop chop.. we got a busy day today!”
With a roll of her eyes and a loud groan, Sky rolls off the comforter and towards the bathroom. After taking care of her regular morning routines, she hops in the shower. Erin’s music still blasted through the speakers, as Sky took a quick shower and she honestly hoped none of their neighbors complained about their disturbance, she knew she would have if she was trying to get a few more hours of shut eye.
That’s all she ever really wanted at the moment, sleep. After months of studying, exams, piles upon piles of work, and busting all nighters she was finally in winter break. The feeling of being able to come home for the holidays and spending those days with her family sounded amazing and relaxing. However, after the second day of being home, she gets a call from Erin. Mentioning something about having another extra ticket for a convention to meet the cast of some show she’s never watched. She kindly declined the offer, wanting to spend her days off with her family sounded like a much better idea than meeting unknown actors. However, Sky often forgets Erin is not the type to take no for an answer and demanded her to hand the phone over to her mother.
Thinking her mother would defend her and find a way to convince Erin to try and find someone else to take to the convention, Sky hands the phone over to her mother. You can only imagine who won that argument.
Once out of the shower with a towel wrapped around her body, Sky heads out the bathroom and towards her duffel bag. In the winter season of Austin, Texas, she decides on a plain long sleeve, black jeans, grey hoodie, black boots on her feet with a leather jacket on top. Once her hair is made and adds a couple splashes of makeup on her face, she grabs her phone and book from the small counter as she follows Erin out the room. After a few minutes later, they finally arrive in the breakfast buffet where Tiffany and Laila are already stuffing themselves with waffles and eggs. With a yawn, Sky makes her way over to the buffet with Erin right behind her. Once they both get their plates and sit down on the table, they dig in before getting on with their day.
****
8:45 am
“Oh my god!! I just hugged Speight!!” The sound of Laila coming around the corner interrupts Sky from her book,
The sight of Laila bouncing up and down on her feet with a wide grin makes a small chuckle escape from Skyline. As her friends beamed over this Speight guy, Sky returns her focus down on her book. Not really paying much attention at their excitement, but still having a smile on her lips as she reads the next chapter in her book. Even if she’s not having the same excitement as her friends, she is still having fun with them. Being around them in general for whatever reason always brightens her day. No matter how rough of a day she’s seems to be having, her girls always know just how to distract her and make her have fun.
“Ohh it’s almost time for Osric’s panel,” Tiffany says while looking down at her phone,
No longer able to focus on her book, Sky marks her spot before getting up from the floor.
“You guys go in, I’ve got auto’s for Kim at nine,”
It’s barely nine in the morning? Jesus. Sky thinks to herself, the day has felt extremely long she could have sworn it was already noon.
“Okay, let’s go Sky,” Laila motions her head to the side for her to follow,
“If you guys want me to continue tagging along, I’m gonna need an espresso,” Sky states, feeling yet another yawn creeping up her throat,
Her friends chuckle at her but agreed with her idea. They wouldn’t want her dragging her feet all over the convention, besides, coffee did sound like a great idea. Once writing down their preferred drinks in her notes, Sky leaves through the doors, down the steps and towards a coffee shop not too far away. It was only a couple blocks away, she should make it back in no time. Hugging her jacket closer to her body when the wind picks up, Sky quickens her movements to avoid its freezing weather but careful to not slip on the wet pavement. The last thing she needs is to fall flat on her ass, better yet get a concussion or go back home with a broken wrist.
Boy would her mom faint if she saw her daughter in a cast. Will most likely give her a lecture on why it’s important not to be on the phone during the most worst seasons. ‘If you weren’t on the phone this wouldn’t have happened Skyline’. Yep. She can definitely hear her ranting.
After a few blocks in the harsh winds, Skyline is finally reaching the small little coffee joint. Just as she reaches for the handle of the door, another, large, hand reaches at the same time. Thick fingers slightly touching her own, making her pull back with an apology.
“No it’s fine go ahead,” A deep voice says beside her, letting a shiver run down her body,
Most likely from the weather, what else would it be?
She looks up at the man. Dark beard, shades on his face, black hat on his head, with a black T-Shirt underneath a checkered navy flannel and black Levi’s jacket. Even under the dark shades she can tell he was good looking, handsome in fact.
“No you can go ahead,” Sky smiles at the man, stepping aside for him to enter,
He only shakes his head, gripping the door handle as he opens it for her, “Please I insist, my mom would throw a fit if she finds out I didn’t show my manners,”
Sky chuckles at him, “Well we wouldn’t want that now,”
The man chuckles back, smile forming on his lips. Man did that smile just make her stomach flip.
“No, we really wouldn’t,” Chuckling once more at him she accepts the offer with a thanks before entering the coffee shop,
As she walks inside, the change of temperature immediately hits her cold cheeks. Almost as if a heating furnace was suddenly shoved in her face, but she wasn’t complaining, the warmth was needed. Walking further into the coffee shop, she takes a glance over her shoulder to see if the man was behind her, but only lets a smile appear when she catches the moment of him allowing an elderly couple enter before him.
That’s sweet. She thinks to herself as she walks up to the counter. Once her drinks have been ordered and paid, she heads over to a small empty table near the window. Sitting on the chair she pulls out her book and continues where she left off as she waits for her drinks. A few minutes had passed and Sky was too engrossed in her book to notice her name being called out by the barista. Eventually though, she comes back to reality when someone places her drink in front her. Looking up from her book she meets eyes with bright emerald orbs, and noticing those breathtaking eyes belong to the same man from the door.
“I’m guessing your Skyline?,” The way her name rolls off his deep voice sends a shiver down her spine,
Definitely can’t be the air this time, absolutely not.
Eyeing the cup of coffee in front of her, she lifts a eyebrow at the man, teasing him. Even if she sees her name written on the side of the cup.
“And what makes you think that?” The way his lips slightly lift causes something to flip in her stomach,
Again.
“Well.. seeing how there’s hardly folks in here,” He looks around the shop for a few seconds before landing his eyes on hers again, “and you being the only one sitting down without a coffee.. I took a guess,”
Sky hums with a smile as she takes the cup, “Nice deduction,”
He shrugs a shoulder with a smile, “This seat taken?”
Sky shakes her head as she takes careful sips from her drink. With a small smile the man pulls out the chair with his other free hand, seeing how he has a cup of his own in one hand.
“I’m Ross by the way,” The man extends a hand once seated,
With a smile Sky accepts his hand, feeling it warm and rough as it wraps around her own.
“Nice to meet you,” Still smiling she pulls away from his firm hand,
“You around from here or just passing through?” He asks, taking careful sips from his cup,
Sky softly smiles at him as she wraps her hands around her coffee, trying to warm up her fingers.
“Born and raised,” He raises a brow at the small fact,
“No kidding?”
She nods, “Yeah but I’m just home for the holidays,”
He hums with a nod, “In the army or something?”
Sky couldn’t help the chuckle that escapes from her, definitely noticing how the corner of the mans lips slightly lift as well.
“More like college. My last year,”
“Really? What’re you studying?” He asks, taking another sip, never letting his eyes drift from her Hazel ones,
But does notice how they dart down towards his mouth before quickly looking back up to his eyes. A small smirk hides behind the cup, but doesn’t hide it when he pulls it away from his face.
“Biology,” He hums once again with a sincere smile, making her stomach flip,
It was such an odd feeling, especially when it was coming directly from a man she hardly knows. But for some reason, it felt right. Their conversations switched from topic to topic, never faltering. It just felt right, as if they were long time friends catching up with each other instead of two strangers who just met. Eventually, their conversation was cut short with the barista calling out her name once again with the rest of her drinks.
Getting up from her seat she walks over to the counter where her drinks waited. As she grabbed a cup holder and begins placing her drinks in each space, Ross, settles next to her. Getting a whiff of his cologne. Leaning on the counter he had both his and her coffee in either hand, which he hands over with a smile once all coffees were safely secured in place.
“I should get going,” She smiles up at his green orbs, and only then noticing how freckles are splashed on his face,
This man was literally dashing, no doubt about it.
“Yeah same here,” He says looking down at his watch, “Need a ride?”
She shakes her head with a smile, “I’m good thanks,”
“You sure? Heard it might rain,” He continues to lean on the counter as she places her coffee in an empty slot of the holder,
“I’m sure, it’s just a few blocks from here,”
“Well it can rain from those few blocks,” He argues as he gives her a smile, not wanting to end their little moment,
Neither did she, but she had friends waiting and the moment she tells them the reason why she took a little longer than expected, they wouldn’t leave her alone until she gives them the whole shebang.
She lets a small chuckle escape her lips as she picks up the coffees, “I’ll make a run for it,”
He softly chuckles at her comment, green eyes staring straight into her Hazel orbs that have slightly turned grey from her sweater. Definitely finding her and her eyes fascinating and beautiful.
“It was nice meeting you Ross,” She smiles at him as she walks away,
He smiles as he watches her, sending her a wave goodbye when she looks over her shoulder before walking out the door. Watching her leave didn’t feel like a loss, it felt the complete opposite actually. Why? Well for starters, he knew it wouldn’t be the last time he saw her considering she had the all too familiar Creation Entertainment wristband on her left hand. Also, he had her book inside his jacket, another reason on why he would see her again.
Both to retrieve her book and to have a reason to see her again. Don’t get him wrong, he was actually going to give it to her before she left, but the thought of holding it and having a reason to see her again sounded like great idea. He wanted to see her again, wanted to have a conversation longer than 10 minutes and just wanted to get to know her. She was different, in a good way, absolutely in a good way. The way she seemed to not know him or maybe she did but simply did not care made him feel relaxed, made him feel somewhat normal and he would give anything to feel that way again.
Even if it meant “stealing” her book to have an excuse to see her again.

Where The Green Grass Grows
Chapter 1
Tumblr media
Summary: Life changes, nothing ever stays the same. With most change comes with some degree of pain, that’s how we grow.
Jensen thought he had his whole life planned out, written for him in the bright lights of Hollywood. One failed marriage later, and a lifetime of lessons learned, lead him home to a place he thought he’d left behind him when he was only a teenager.
He thought his life was over. He felt like he’d lost everything, but who knew one little trip to the local diner that had just opened up outside of town would turn his whole world upside down. All because he met you. Maybe a little slower pace of life isn’t such a bad idea after all…
Warnings:  Language, Angst, mention of past OC character death, mention of grief, dealing with a divorce. Drinking. I think that's about it for this chapter.
Pairing: Jensen Ackles x Reader

“Mr. Ackles! Good morning!” Alex, Jensen's longtime agent, said as he took his seat at the big oak desk in front of Jensen.
“Alex,” Jensen said, giving the man a tight smile as he watched him shuffle through the pile of paperwork on his desk. Jensen had been in the entertainment industry since he was a young boy in one sense or another. He was no idiot, and he knew the reason he was called into his agents office for the first time in almost 15 years wasn’t a good thing, and he knew just what it was about.
“I’m glad you could come in to see us on such short notice, Mr. Ackles. I’m sure you’re a busy man, and I’m not going to take up much of your time.”
Alex folded his hands in front of him, and Jensen couldn’t help but feel like the kid that had been sent to the principal's office for doing something stupid in class. The only difference was this time he wasn’t a kid, and this wasn’t a school. He was in his fucking forties, and this was his job. He hadn’t even done anything wrong!
“I’m sure you already suspect the reason I called you here Jensen,” Alex said, dropping all formality that was there just a moment ago.  “Your recent divorce has affected you, and I don’t mean that in an offensive way!” Alex said as Jensen rolled his eyes. He knew that’s what this was all about.
His divorce with Danneel had been a very public one. There were children involved, and of course a substantial amount of property. What divorce has ever gone smoothly or quietly in Hollywood? None that he’d ever seen, and they were overall civil for the public eye? So what was the problem?
“Cut the shit, Alex!” Jensen said, barely holding his temper in check. He could feel his blood pressure rising in his seat. Why did people have to be so damn judgemental? “What the fuck is this really all about?”
Alex took a deep breath, and set back in defeat against his dark leather chair, and looked at Jensen almost as if he pitied him, and damn if that didn’t just suck worse than the wishy-washy shit.
“Look, Jensen, since your divorce you haven’t been as on your game as you were. You’re showing up late to set. You have been drinking more, I can tell it by the color of your fucking skin man. You’re exhausted. No one expected you to jump back to work before the ink even dried on the divorce papers, and the company thinks it might be time to take a little break, get yourself back together, and figure shit out before you try and take on another roll.”
Alex fell quiet as Jensen set there with his hands buried in his hair, no longer looking at him. Alex did not want to do this to Jensen, he really didn’t. It was the guys that were higher up than he was.
Sure they weren’t exactly wrong, he could see it in the actor’s eyes how tired he was, and how much strain he was under. He didn’t want another nervous breakdown under his belt like Charlie Sheen that had almost turned into an incurable disaster. Jensen had a stable following, and a break wasn’t going to hurt his career. If nothing else it may help it.
“Go back to Texas for a while Jensen, get away from all this shit here in California, go have a damn beer out in the country for fucks sake. Focus on you! Gigs will still be here. You need to take care of yourself man.”
Jensen nodded slowly before finally looking up to meet Alex’s now concerned gaze.
Jensen knew deep down he’d been slipping, but he didn’t think it was bad enough to warrant a forced vacation. If it really was that bad, he knew he needed to take a step back from the public eye until he could get his shit together before it did hurt his career. He’d seen much bigger actors than him fall because of shit they did while going through tough shit like this, and he didn’t work all his life to lose everything.
“Okay… Fine… I’ll go home for a while,” Jensen said, huffing in defeat, rubbing his hand along the beard that was now covering his jawline as he focused on a random spot on the building just outside the window. Completely done with this conversation.
Alex breathed a visible sigh of relief and flopped back into his chair. His eyes still on the man in front of him. He couldn’t imagine what was going on in Jensen’s head right now, but whatever it was, he knew he wasn’t in the sharing mood.
“I’ll let the big guys upstairs know, take as long as you need,” Alex said, getting up from his desk and extending his hand for Jensen to shake. Jensen looked at it like it personally offended his mother, but shook it all the same. He didn’t want to piss people off to the point he’d need to find a new agency to represent him, but man, did he want to tell everyone in this building to go fuck themselves.
It really didn’t sink in that he was going home until Jensen sat down at his computer at home with a glass of bourbon in his hand, looking at plane tickets back to Dallas. He hadn’t told his dad he was coming, and he knew his family would welcome him back with open arms, but it was his own mental struggle that kept him from hitting the pay now button on the screen.
Sure, Alex said that he could come back whenever he was ready, but the truth was he didn’t know when or if ever he’d be ready again.
He felt like going back to Texas was admitting defeat. When he’d shown up in California all those years ago, he’d struggled his way into Hollywood. No one had given him an exactly warm welcome, and it didn’t come without some damn near misses and shit that almost sent him back before his time.
Now, after all that. Several decade’s worths of struggling, and clawing his way to where he was today, he was going home. It left more than a little bitter taste in his mouth, and there was nothing he could do about it.
The agency wasn’t going to get him another job until he took a break, and sure he needed one, but he didn’t want to take one. On the other hand, if he didn’t take one, then he’d surely destroy his career because he was in no shape to be in the public eye.
There was no going back to Austin. He couldn’t live in the same town as her, that’s why he’d run off to California. If he was going back to Texas it was going to have to be Dallas. No matter how much he didn’t want to.
It wasn’t that he was afraid someone would make fun of him, or the locals would talk about him. He was loaded, and successful. He wasn’t concerned about their opinions. It was his own pride he was struggling with, not theirs. He had lost his wife and children, now he was losing his career, and he just didn’t feel like this shitshow could get any worse.
“Who says you can’t go home,” Jensen said with a dark chuckle as he booked his ticket, and stared at the departure time. 5:00 A.M. tomorrow. That only gave him a few hours to pack, but then again, he wasn’t sure he wanted to even take any of this shit with him.
Tumblr media
“Order up!” you hear James call from the other side of the counter where the kitchen was separated from the bar by a large whole that took up most of the inner wall, much like a lot of older dinner kitchens did in the ’50s and ’60s.
You throw the rag you’d been wiping the bar down with in the laundry hamper that was hidden safely under the counter from the view of the customers and grabbed the tray of burgers and fries, bringing them over to the young couple that was sitting at the very back of the restaurant. They were the only customers left in the place, and it was obviously their first date.
You could tell it in the way the girl nervously played with the hem of her dress, while the young man did all he could to hold a conversation with her. It was evident that in the light blush that covered her cheeks she had feelings for the boy, and judging by the way he was gushing over her, his feelings went pretty deep too.
“Here you go guys, if you need anything else I’ll just be right over there,” you tell them with a smile. They thanked you, and you returned to your place behind the counter. You sighed deeply as you started to count down the register that was used earlier that day. Once this young couple was done, then it was time to get out of here. You were more than ready to get these shoes off your feet and sink neck-deep in a bath as hot as you could stand it in order to relieve some of the day's tension that was still evident in your back and legs from standing on your feet all day.
As you counted down the money in front of you, your eyes kept drifting over to the young couple sitting at the back table. You remember when Eric had taken you on your first date. It was at a restaurant much like this one. Then the night before you got married, he brought you back to the place where it all started. He was deployed to Iraq for another tour just three weeks after your wedding and returned in a flag-draped casket a year later.
It was one of the hardest paths you ever had to walk in your life. You were young, had little to no family, and Eric was your world, your whole life, and it seemed like so suddenly it was ripped violently away from you.
You swallowed hard and tried to remember to continue to count the money, crewing on your lower lip in concentration.
It had been three years since Eric’s funeral, and you still hadn’t moved on. Sure, there had been prospects. You were still young, only 30, and you were single in a relatively small town outside of the greater city of Dallas. So it was no secret that you were not with anyone. You knew you should find someone and try to settle down again, but you just didn’t feel the same way Eric made you feel about anyone that had approached you so far. He was your first love. There was a whole there now, that you didn’t think would ever mend.
Seeing that young couple that looked so happy and so in love brought up a whole lot of feelings that you wished like hell you could bury because they still hurt.
“Hey you, stop staring at the customers,” Jessica said, leaning against the counter with a smirk on her face.
You give her your best bitch face and go back to putting the money bag in the safe under the counter. “I’m just making sure the customers don’t need anything.”
“Liar,” she said simply. “You know it’s been three years, Y/N.”
You looked up at her and sighed deeply as your eyes trained back to the young couple that were laughing together.
“I know Jessica. I’ve thought about it. No one just… I don’t know, makes me feel the way Eric did.”
Jessica gave you a sympathetic look and threw her arm around your shoulder. She was working here with you when this place opened up right after you and Eric got married. She had been your friend ever since, and she was there with you through the grieving process, and she still kept a close eye on you all these years later.
“You know I’m only telling you this because I love you as a friend right?” she asked you, and you just stared at her. Afraid of what was about to come out of her mouth. It wouldn’t be the first time she’d tried to play matchmaker, and you didn’t know if you could go through that again.
“The reason you can’t find someone is because you're still holding on to him, Y/N. You have to let him go, let him rest!”
Your hand slipped up to the small silver locket that you kept around your neck. Eric had given it to you right before he left for your last deployment, and you never took it off. You knew she was right. You were still acting like you were a married woman. If you were ever going to move on, you were going to have to let him go.
“I know you’re right, but I don’t know how,” you tell her in earnest, as the young couple throws some money down on the table, and gathers up their coats to leave, waving at the two of you as they went.
“I’ll tell you what, tonight after we finish up, we’re going to head down to the graveyard, and you're gonna tell him goodbye for real, and bury that locket, and let him go. Then I want you to move on!! You're so young, you deserve to be happy, Eric would want you to be happy.”
“I he would,” you tell her. Letting go of the breath you didn’t know you were holding, and wiping the stray tear away that fell down your face before you nod and agree to go.
It wasn’t as hard as you thought it would be, but after you got off work, Jessica got in her car and followed you to the graveyard. You did just like she said to do. You told him goodbye and took the Locket with a spoon you’d grabbed from the diner that they were going to throw away, and dug a small hole, burying the locket, and a part of your heart forever.
When you got home to your small house and got in the shower to wash away the day, deciding to forgo the bath because it was so late, and you were exhausted, you felt a little more at peace than you had in years. Even though there would always be a part of you that missed Eric. You hoped this time that you could let him go enough to finally move on.
You wanted what that couple had tonight, you wanted a friend and a companion. Maybe now you could start to let yourself be happy again. At least the weight that you had been carrying for three years felt just a little lighter, and you closed your eyes that night in hopes that tomorrow was going to be the start of a better way of life for you.
You never know, maybe Mr. Right will just walk right in the diner tomorrow. Then again, would you ever be that lucky?

She’s talking to a colleague with her third drink in hand when her phone vibrates in her purse. Fishing it out, she stares at the screen. Has to smirk too, just a little.
J: Are you finished?
Chuckling, she types in a reply. Who’s the needy one now, huh?
Y/N: Not yet. Are you?
J: Yeah, Jar wanted to go to bed early, we skipped the drinks after dinner.
Her fingers go over the keypad and she’s typing but his messages keep on coming in.
J: I’m bored
J: My cock is hard
J: I wanna bend you over
J: Come here
Y/N: I’m not finished. Give me another hour.
J: I might be sleeping
Y/N: Then I’m going back to my own hotel
J: You should go back and check out and then come here.
Y/N: Don’t know what the others will say about that.
J: Is it better if you go back in the morning in your clothes from today?
She rolls her eyes because she knows he’s right.
J: Tell them you have to leave early before they wake up.
J: Which, btw, is a good excuse to leave the bar earlier too.
Y/N: You did some thinking on this, huh?
J: Babe, I like to be thorough.
Y/N: But then it’ll take me longer to get to you.
J: I’ll survive, have your panties to keep me company.
Y/N: That’s creepy
J: Then come here and make it less creepy
*
Y/N downs her last drink in a hurry. She never wanted to be that girl who runs when a man tells her to, but in this case she knows that Jensen’s right and god knows that she wants to spend time with him too. Because after this? After tonight, she’s secretly decided that she’s going back to her own place. The pandemic is over, they are allowed to move around freely. There’s no need to be holed up with someone just because they both don’t want to be alone.
Of course she hasn’t told him yet. She’s not really good at these things. Avoids the talking like a plague.
Bidding her goodbyes, she tells her team that she has to leave early tomorrow and therefore won’t see them at check out in the morning. But she’ll see them at the next convention, which is basically around the corner.
Back in her room, she packs her things, checks out and takes an Uber to Jensen’s hotel. She goes straight for the elevators and when she arrives on his floor, she takes off her heels that are killing her. Slowly, she strolls over to his door and knocks.
The door flies open and Jensen’s still dressed in his shirt and jeans. His hair is a little ruffled up, probably because he took a nap waiting for her. He must have because he absolutely loves taking naps.
He opens the door wider for her to roll her suitcase in and she leaves her shoes by the door. She notices the room smelling like him. Smelling like his cologne. She absolutely loves that.
“You checked out,” he says and steps away from the door, walks further into the room.
“You told me to.” Y/N turns around and stands upright, sees him crossing his arms over his chest.
“I didn’t think you’d do what I say,” Jensen shrugs before he lets his hands drop down around his hips and starts to stroll towards her.
He reaches out, pushing his hand below her chin to tip her face up. She sees him staring at her, the light in the room is dim, but it’s just right to bring his freckles into focus. She loves them dearly.
“Who won today?” she asks, her lips spread into a grin.
Jensen chuckles, “I’d like to think it’s a draw.” He bends down, kisses her smiling lips, tongue teasing and tempting.
As always with them, their kisses grow heavier quickly and Jensen wraps one arm around her waist, pulling her closer. She moans at it, moans at the bulge she feels prodding against her lower stomach, and he swallows all the sound she’s making.
He turns around with her in his arm, turns around with his lips still attached to hers and walks her back to the bed, laughs quietly into her open mouth before he picks her up and throws her into his still made bed.
Y/N shrieks and giggles in delight and Jensen’s on her, kissing and nibbling at her throat as his hands find the zip of her skirt, pulling them down.
He kisses his way up again, claims her mouth once more before he parts but he leaves his forehead on hers, “Tell me what you want.”
“God—”
“Ah, just call me Jensen,” his smile is cocky and she cranes her neck, kissing him to shut him up.
“Tell me,” he breathes into her mouth between hard kisses and soft tentative licks of his tongue.
“Oh god,” she breathes out, “I wanna you to eat me like you said you wanted to.”
“Yeah?” Jensen licks down her throat, sucks in her skin sharply. She’s altogether sure that he’ll leave a mark. Not that she cares. Not right now.
“Yeah,” she says, “Want to bury my hands in your hair, want to feel your beard between my thighs.”
“Mmh.”
Jensen works his way further down, nimble fingers unbuttoning her blouse on his way down. He pushes her shirt open, hands going to her bra and pushes them underneath her tits, making them stand up. He groans, and dips his face down, sucking her nipple into his mouth while he kneads at her other tit.
She arches her back, hands grabbing at his head and Jensen works his way further down, leaving a trail of kisses and pricking of his beard in his wake. His hand leaves her tits to pull at her skirt. He has to step out of the bed to be able to take it off properly and flings it to the floor.
He also takes the opportunity while he stands to get rid of his shirt, fingers quickly working on his buttons, and sends the fabric piling next to her skirt on the floor. She sits up as well, pulling her blouse off her body and unhooking her bra while her eyes are trained on him.
Licking her lips, she watches him unbuckle his belt, watches him zip down his pants and pull them down, stepping out of them before he gets rid of his underwear. Jensen’s hard, the tip of it leaking clear liquid already.
God, it makes her mouth water.
His one hand goes to his cock, fists it and she watches him thumbing at his slit, spreading the clear liquid around the head, as he kneels onto the bed again. His hand leaves his cock and he pushes her knees apart.
“Christ, look at you,” Jensen rubs his hands along her inner thighs, lets his finger brush against her sensitive skin, “So pretty.”
That’s also something he does, he can dirty talk so sweetly. It makes all the blood in her body shoot up to her head.
Jensen shoulders himself between her thighs, his breathing fans hotly over her wet pussy. He looks at her, holds her gaze as he sticks his tongue out and dips his head down a little to licks a broad stripe up her wet center.
“Fuck,” she chokes out, her hands find his hair, fingers threading through his soft locks as she arches her back and pulls him closer into her pussy.
He closes his eyes, licks and sucks at her nub before he threads his whole face through her slick. He’s so good at it, fuck. The prickling of the beard gives her that added sensation. She’s sure she’ll have a beard burn tomorrow, but her skin has slowly gotten used to it in the four months of quarantine. As much as she loves for him to do it, he loves it just as much, if not more, and she can’t find in her heart to deny what makes him happy. It’s more of a win-win situation.
One night, he spent three hours down there, determined to see how many times he could make her come on his tongue alone. Seven. It was seven times. It could have been more but her skin had started to hurt. He’d wanted to get up and shave right then and there but fortunately, she’d been able to talk him out of it.
Y/N fists her hands into his hair as she feels her orgasm approaching, pulling him even closer and grinds her pussy against him. Jensen lets her, humming and sucking some more, bringing her closer to the edge.
“Fuck, Jen—, I’m—”
“Mmh, come on, baby.”
Her legs are shaking, her whole body trembles as an orgasm shakes through her, and she’s still holding him close still, jerking with the aftershocks of her release.
Jensen lets her calm down, kisses her clit and her folds softly, breathing hot air that soothes her tender skin.
“Good?” he cocks his eyebrows and looks up at her with a charming smirk.
“Oh god, yes,” she laughs, and yanks him up by his hair. He likes that, he told her once. Likes it when it hurts a little.
His face comes up gleaming, beard shimmering with her release and Jensen licks his lips, tasting her off his mouth.
He moves further up, kisses her, flooding her mouth with her own taste as he kisses her hungrily. The tip of his dick leaves a wet trail on her thighs.
“I wanna fuck you so bad,” he growls low, kisses down her jaw, and moves to suck at her throat again, the place where he left a mark. Where he always leaves a mark.
Y/N pushes him away playfully so he’s kneeling on the bed while she gets up and gets on all fours facing him. She lowers herself on her arms, but keeps her ass up in the air as she nuzzles her face into his crotch, nosing at his heavy balls.
“Babe, I’m gonna blow as soon as you suck it,” Jensen’s breathing is ragged, his voice a little broken.
She looks up at him, sees his hair falling around his face as he looks down at her, his hands are fisted into balls on his side. Humming, she lets her tongue tickle his balls. “Where’s your self control, Ackles?” she asks before sucking in his testicles, worries at one and then the other. His dick jerks at her touches.
“Fuck,” he grits his teeth, “I have self control, alright? It already takes everything in me not to just shoot into your face.”
Grinning, she sticks out her tongue, licks a broad stripe up his shaft and twirls her tongue around the head of his cock. The taste of pre-cum is strong in her mouth; it floods her mind. It makes her dizzy, makes her crave, makes her thirst for more.
His left hand goes to her hair, stroking it back as he watches her wrap her lips around his tip, tongue toying with the sensitive band.
“God,” he groans, and she knows that he has self control because he’s trying his best not to just fuck his cock down her throat.
She opens her mouth wider, sticks out her tongue and takes him in further. He growls above her, clearly about to fall apart and that’s when Y/N knows that she has him where she wants him. Bobbing her head, she sucks him, twirls her tongue when she reaches the tip and sucks just a tad more there.
“God,” Jensen moans, “Just like that, Fuck, yeah. So good, you’re doing so good, baby.”
Did she say that she loves that too? Absolutely loves to be praised by him. It comes out so deep, gravely, it makes her cunt ache and her wetness drip down her thighs.
The sound of her sucking him off is loud in the room, it makes her a little embarrassed but when the praises start to come in, she quickly forgets about it.
“Good girl,” he whispers, and she looks up to see him looking down at her fondly, his hand in her hair, tucking it behind her ear as he watches her please him.
Leaning over her while she takes him the deepest she can, he toys with her ass and pussy, rubbing her just right, then slides two fingers into her wet heat. She moans with her mouth full of his cock.
After only about six head-bobs later, Jensen has enough, because he’s pulling her off his cock and manhandling her around so that she’s still on all fours but facing away from him, making her squeal and laugh.
So much for his self control.
He has to do that, has to distract her when he knows that he’ll blow. Has to stop because the act that he enjoys most is when he can come inside of her.
Jensen loves the idea of her leaking his cum. She doesn’t really mind. Never had a reason to mind since they were holed up in his home anyway. He likes it when he sees her squirm while she’s making breakfast, likes it when he sees her stop in her tracks while she’s walking around the house only to look between her thighs to check if she needs to go wash herself or if tissues are enough.
It’s weird that she’s come to love it too. Loves how all of a sudden, the warmness spreads between her thighs. She rarely wore panties during her stay with Jensen, and had stopped wearing them after two weeks because she ended up changing them all the time.
He spanks both his hands down her ass cheeks, making her yelp, and he kneads them around, massaging them before spanking her again, “Told you I wanted to spank you for your behavior today.”
Striking down twice more, he makes her cry out into the sheets. And then he sits back onto his heels, and probably admires his work. She knows he must be as it’s awfully silent at her back.
Something’s poking at her entrance, something soft and blunt. He threads his cockhead through her slick, teasing her some more. Y/N pushes her ass back against him, trying to catch his dick, trying to fuck herself on his cock.
“Who’s needy now, huh?” Jensen snickers.
With one hand, he holds her still by her hips as he guides his cock to her pussy with his other hand and pushes in. She moans out when she feels his tip entering her.
Jensen leaves his cock there, both hands on her hips and he grabs a handful of her flesh before pushing his hips forward, sinking his cock into her slowly. He groans, loud and deep, making her shudder with want.
Pulling his hips back, he also pulls his cock out at the same time, leaving the tip inside only to slam back into her more roughly. The impact sends her forward but he’s still holding her by her hips, pulling her back while he thrusts forward. He’s so fucking deep, fills her so fucking good.
“Fuck,” she breathes out, her hand fists in the sheets as she lets him fuck her hard and rough.
Y/N knows he needs it like this from time to time and god knows she needs it, too.
He thrusts into her at a maddening pace, spanks her ass more while he’s at it. “That’s it, baby, fuck,” he growls above her. Before she knows it, he slips out, flips her and turns her around, to sink his cock right back in as he covers her body with his.
Jensen kisses her, licking into her mouth, while she claws at his back. That’s her way of leaving a mark on him, and he absolutely does not mind.
His thrusts are getting slower, more sensual, more intimate. And she knows that it’s what he does. He can switch his dominant side on and off. One moment he wants to take everything from her, the next, he’s giving her everything she needs.
He fucks her slow and deep, kisses her and sucks in her tongue, swallowing her moan into his open mouth. Jensen loves this angle because it makes her come as he strokes inside her tight channel and hits her sweet spot just right. Y/N gushes around him, bites into his shoulder as her thighs clamp around his waist, pressing his body between them. Jensen groans too, buries his face into the crook of her neck as he mouths at her throat.
They stay connected a little longer with him propping himself up on his elbows next to her head. His hand smoothes her hair back, his nose nudging at hers, while he pecks her lips. His hair is falling around his face and her hand goes up to brush them back too. They are sticky and sweaty and his beard tickles on her cheek.
  *
After the shower, where he made her come again on his fingers, they cozy up onto the bed, a blanket surrounding them while she rests her head on his chest. She hooks her leg over his thighs while his hand lazily strokes her back.
The silence between them is comfortable, calming.
It’s when Jensen starts to speak that she feels like crying.
“Are you coming home with me tomorrow?” he whispers. The tone of his voice indicates that he knows it’s not his choice.
“I don’t know,” she says, because she really doesn’t. Her return flight is to Austin, but she has no idea what will happen from there on out.
“I want you to.”
“Jensen...”
“I really do.”
She swallows the lump in her throat, “You know that it has started with us just being comfortable around each other, enjoying each other's company, right?”
“Yeah,” Jensen sighs, “but we lived together for four months.” He holds her just a little tighter, not wanting to let her go. “I’d like for you to stay.”
“I’d rather not have anyone know about it.”
“They won’t. I’ll keep you my secret,” he says, tilting his head to kiss her forehead.
“I don’t have to go anywhere public with you?” she asks, because that’s a nightmare for her. She’s just not good at that.
“Not if you don’t want to,” he chuckles, “Say yes?”
“Does that mean that you want to really date me?”
He turns his head to look at her, in that angle she can see a little double chin. It’s absolutely adorable; she loves his soft bits. “We have to yet go on a date together, but yeah, I’d love to take you out.”
“I don’t put out on the first date, Jensen.” It’s her turn to chuckle.
“I bet I can change your mind.” He turns around, pins her to her mattress and starts to rub his beard on her face, making her giggle and laugh. He tickles some more, hands goes to her hips, her ribs.
“Yes,” Y/N says breathlessly, “yes.” Jensen stops, his nose touching hers, his long hair falling into her face and he smiles before he presses his lips on hers.

Have you thought the idea of Sam and Dean meeting Jensen and Jared? I think it would be very funny, Dean and Jared would get along great 😂 grumpy Jensen and Sam being together rolling eyes at both of them. And how S/D will know that Dean is married to Anael and Sam is married to ruby(that we already know but still) seeing two Impalas in Texas and dean's reaction on that😂 Dean and Jared's fast food spree, with Jensen's FBBC tour of all four of them. I think it would be a great day😂
(So it took a little long for me to answer because I wanted to give you something anon. Here it is.)

Jared looked at Dean's face closely.
"Hey he actually has less freckles than you do, Ackles !" he said in a chuckle.
"Yeah, that's makeup" Jensen sighed, looking around at the bunker, it was really impressive to see it without the lights, the cameras and anything showing it was a set.
"I don't wear makeup !" Dean grunted, offended.
Sam sighed, his nose still in his book, and rubbed his face. That trip to the world where they were TV show characters a few years ago had been enough. Now, as nice as they seemed, he really wanted to find a way to send those TV stars back home.
"Sammy relax, what's one more weird version of us" Dean stated, taking a step back from that man looking just like him wearing more fancy clothes, longer hair and a beard. "Dude what's up with the hair, cut it !"
"I like to let it grow when I'm in a hiatus, Dean" Jensen answered, feeling weird at saying a name that had been, for him, one of his for years.
Jared's laugh echoed in the bunker loudly. How could all the props have turned into real things ? He touched the blades and mouthed "awesome".
"Can't you be a little more like Padicky sometimes Sammy ?" Dean gave his brother a mocking smile.
"Padalecki" Sam corrected him, immediately giving Jared his best bitch face when the actor came close to try to high-five him.
"So you know everything about our lives ?" Dean asked, still weirdly looking at this face he was used to see in the mirror.
"Yeah" Jensen answered.
His voice was slightly different, and the expression on his face too. He turned his head to look at the weird polish named actor that looked like Sam, he was more agitated, smiling more and acting like a puppy in a new garden ; but there was still something heavy in his eyes...
"We know you for so long !" Jared said with a smile. "And I must say : Big fans."
"Still we know nothing of you" Sam lifted his eyes from his book. "If you two are going to stay there until we find a way to send you back to your perfect lives, we will need to know a few things."
"We're both married with kids" Jared said right away, feeling the urge to reassure Sam because the man he considered his best -imaginary but still- friend being so wary was uncomfortable.
"Married ? Oh yeah ! This one married fake Ruby" Dean mocked.
"I'm married to the actress playing Anael" Jensen stated, staring at Dean.
Sam chuckled, happy to see his brother's confused face.
"Shut up Sam, my wife is hot !" Dean grunted, making Jensen smile at his familiar attitude. "And kids ?"
"Yes, three, Jared too" the actor answered, a little sad when he realized they didn't exist here. "They're the best."
"Yeah well I have Baby" Dean said, like he needed to defend himself.
"I have one too" Jensen smiled.
"Me too !" Jared loudly said from the other side of the room, where he was looking everywhere.
"Excuse me ?" Dean's eyes widened. "Baby is not 'one', she's the only one !"
A silence fell upon them. Jensen put a hand on his pocket and took his phone, coming closer to Dean. He had no idea why he needed his character's approbation that much, maybe because he had admired him for so long...
"Look, those are my kids" he said low.
Dean looked at the pictures with a weird impression, the little boy actually looked a little like him. The pictures were taken in pools, fancy clothes, family meetings in big houses... And his heart started to ache a little.
"Wait what is that shit !" he suddenly exclaimed. "You have a... Is that bird ? You have a cheesy bird tattoo !"
"I made it for my daughter, JJ" the actor frowned.
"I may not have a daughter, but at least my body is free from all your posh crap" Dean proudly smiled, earning a disapprobation frown from his brother. "What ? There are fake rays of sunshine Sammy !"
Jared took a sit next to Sam to read over his shoulder and gasped.
"You really read Latin !" he exclaimed proudly.
"Okay" Sam sighed, closing the book in front of him, unable to focus. "Who's hungry ?"
Dean and Jared lifted their hands very quickly in the same time, making Sam roll his eyes.
While Dean started making his way to the kitchen, he crossed the green eyes of his double staring back at him. He would never admit being a little jealous of a world without monsters, of family and money... Just like Jensen would never admit how small he felt next to the actual hero that had saved to world, went to actual Hell and all, but also changed his own life so deeply.
"Dean" the actor stopped him with a friendly hand on the arm, making the hunter turn to him when Jared's voice of excitement resonated from the kitchen. "Can we take a ride in the impala, just you and me ? In the real Baby I mean."
Dean searched his eyes and nodded.
"Sure. But no way you're driving,  Ackles."

about your tags re: jensen's comments about his hair during the resume off: I always understood his "dont I look so much better with shorter hair" as kinda sarcastic because he follows it up with "I'm kidding!" when people actually agree. and jensen has complained at other times about always having to have short hair or always having to have the same hairstyle because of his role as dean. not to mention the fact that jensen often used to have long hair pre-spn (even as a teenager) and now went right back to long hair post-spn. he's also talked about how he likes to have a beard when not filming spn because it helps him separare himself from dean, I assume the same may be true for longer hair/different hairstyles as well.
so all things considered, I think he does genuinely like his hair longer and always has. and I m not complaining, some of his 2020/2021 looks were stunningly handsome.
yes this is pretty much what i meant to say! and same, i fucking LOVE that look on him, he looked so gorgeous during that specific time in quarantine (i mean he almost always look good but recent developments re: his beard have forced me to reconsider the notion that he can do no wrong sjdfhsjh)

“In February 1924, Illustreret Fagblad for danske Damefrisorer, one of the leading trade journals for Danish women's hairdressers, reported that short haircuts for women were becoming increasingly common throughout most of Europe. Although the trend had not yet reached Denmark, it was likely to do so, the journal predicted, since "we have seen within the last couple of months the first signs of .. . shorn hair here in Copenhagen." The prediction proved correct. In July 1925, Ugens Spejl, another trade journal, reported that the new fashion was spreading "like fire in old houses." That same year, the president of the Ladies' Hairdressers Association estimated that 25 percent of Copenhagen's female population had their hair cut short.
The following year, one Copenhagen barber claimed that no less than 75 percent of women under the age of 30 had adopted the new styles, leading the editor of yet another trade journal, Danmarks Barber-og Frisortidende to conclude that "there is something almost epidemically contagious about the advancing shingling. Each and everyone who lets her locks fall for the scissors immediately draws four or five others with her." Although contemporaries may have exaggerated the numbers, contemporary street photography and surviving photo albums suggest that a significant number of young women did in fact dispose of their long hair in the second half of the 1920s.
It is also telling that no fewer than 48 of the 59 women interviewed for this project recalled having their hair cut short before 1930. As Anne Bruun explained many years later, "That was just what you did. If you were young and wanted to be in style, that was definitely the look. Anybody who wanted to be up-to-date did that." Helene Berg agreed. "Short hair made you look chic, made you look modern," she claimed. Besides, as Louise Ege pointed out, short hair "kind of fit with the other things that were fashionable. Short dresses and all that." But despite their enthusiasm for the new hairstyles, actually acquiring one of the fashionable bobs was not always easy. While the number of beauty salons had been growing since the turn of the century, women's hairdressers generally shied away from providing their female customers with the short haircuts they desired.
For decades women's hairdressers had worked hard to create a respectable female profession by promoting themselves as specialists in hygiene and conventional feminine beauty, an accomplishment they were not willing to sacrifice by embracing the controversial new styles. Moreover, since most hairdressers were only used to working with combs, brushes, and curlers, few were actually competent to cut hair. As a result, many women had to enter male barbershops to have their hair cut, a step many took with considerable trepidation. The difficulties of finding a stylist both willing and able to cut a woman's hair was not the only obstacle to a fashionable appearance. Many fathers and husbands explicitly prohibited the new styles. Others let their disapproval be known more indirectly.
As Magda Gammelgaard Jensen recalled, "I really wanted to get my hair [cut] short, but I didn't know how to go about it. It wasn't so easy when there was a man around." According to Mr. H. M. Christensen, the president of the Danish Grooming, Toilet and Sanitary Workers' Union, many women therefore chose to "have their hair cut at a time when their husbands and fathers [were] not at home." Outside the private sphere, other forces also strove to contain "that unfortunate tendency among young ladies to shear their hair." Some workplaces openly discriminated against women who adhered to the new fashion. Several prominent department stores did not hire women who sported the new hairstyles. Others fired employees after a visit to the hairdresser.
In 1924, the personnel director at Crome & Goldschmidt, one of the leading clothing stores in Copenhagen, flatly declared that he "would absolutely not engage or employ any young woman with bobbed hair." Other businesses had similar policies. The president of Salomon David Jr. Inc., Inger Diemer, explained that she had "banned bobbed hair." "I demand," she continued, "that the women who work with us, sign [a contract] that they will not wear short hair. In my mind, that is not proper in an old, highly esteemed firm." The director of Bispebjerg Hospital, Charlotte Munck, also banned short hair for all nurses under her supervision.
Even women in less publicly visible occupations faced ostracism if they chose to adopt the modern styles. Inger Mangart, for example, who worked as a part-time cleaning assistant in a private home in the late 1920s, recalled being dismissed the first day she arrived with short hair. The press was equally adamant in its stance against the new styles. To discourage young women from following fashion, newspapers and popular magazines delighted in sensationalist stories about domestic turmoil caused by short hair. Divorces, physical abuse, family disintegration, and even murders were described as tragic, but predictable, outcomes of women's changed appearances.
Assuming, however, that young women were more likely to follow fashion prescription than sensible guidance, journalists and other commentators figured that the most efficient way to combat the modern styles was simply to declare them unfashionable. "Bobbed hair is no longer in style," one beauty advice columnist thus warned as early as 1922, several years before the new styles hit Denmark. "We hardly have to repeat that bobbed hair has already received the death sentence abroad," another fashion expert claimed that same year. "There is no doubt that this fad, the short hair, is coming to an end," Ugebladet asserted a couple of years later, and in 1925, B.T. was pleased to report that "all countries now agree that the fashion of short hair is finally on the retreat."
Yet despite these elaborate efforts to suppress the new haircuts, women's enthusiasm did not wane. Many critics therefore felt compelled to explain the dangers of the new styles in the hope that young women would be swayed by their arguments. Some journalists and beauty advice columnists sought to discourage young women from having their hair cut through use of the kind of racist imagery that permeated early twentieth century European culture. By labeling the new styles "Hottentot hair" or "Apache cuts," they strove to impress upon young women the incompatibility of short hair with refined Western womanhood. "Surely, no young lady wants to look like a monkey," one reporter thus argued, apparently hoping that young women would recognize the similarity between women's short hair and animal fur.
Other observers claimed that short hair simply made women look ugly and unattractive. Cutting one's hair was therefore inevitably at the risk of losing "the man's admiration and desire." Although some men admitted that a short-haired woman might serve "as a drinking buddy," those who participated in the public debate all insisted that the new styles did not mix with marriage and motherhood, implying that short-haired women could expect to live out their lives as spinsters and old maids— an argument that presumably would dissuade any young woman from such reckless behavior. While most female critics tended to focus on the aesthetic aspects of the new styles, it was quite different considerations that fueled much of the vehement male opposition.
Like many other people in the early twentieth century, these commentators believed there was a direct correlation between external appearance and internal self. When a woman cut her hair, she was not only defying conventional standards of femininity but was also prone to develop some of those mental traits that usually characterized people with short hair—namely, men. As Ludvig Brandt-Meller, a male hairdresser who opposed the new styles, explained, "Short hair tends to emancipate the woman. It is as if it affects her psychologically." Others found that short-haired women became "like men in character and gestures," insisting that "that 99 out of 100 women with short hair have simultaneously acquired boyish or mannish manners."'
A few alarmists saw even greater dangers ahead. The very act of cutting a woman's hair, they argued, would eventually alter a woman's biological constitution and turn her into a man. Believing that the mass of hair on a human body was constant, some argued that short hair would necessarily cause women to grow beards. Others predicted the advent of female baldness. "The evidence is right there, since 60 percent of all men over forty [who presumably had cut their hair since childhood] are bald, while less than 0.1 percent of all women [who had never previously cut their hair] suffer from this weakness," another critic of the new styles explained.
While men had tended to object to short dresses because they rendered women too attractive, their reactions to short hair were therefore quite different. According to male critics, short hair "emancipated" women and made then unwomanly, even masculine, and not attractive enough, a violation of gender norms that seemed to them much graver and ultimately more unpleasant than women being overly sexy and seductive. Even those who did not necessarily believe that short hair would actually turn women into men found this quite disturbing because, as one correspondent wrote to the editor of the newspaper B.T. in 1925, "If there is something we men cannot stand, it is precisely women void of femininity. "
Young women's seeming disregard of men's opinions about the new styles only made matters worse. Apparently, young women were no longer pursuing physical beauty and style for the purposes of male pleasure and admiration. How, then, were men to understand women's enthusiasm for short hair as anything but a sign that women cared less about male approval than about their own "emancipation"? Some even feared that the popularity of the new styles might indicate an explicit sexual and emotional detachment from men. In comparison with those who defended short dresses when they first appeared, supporters of the new hairstyles were therefore faced with a much more difficult task.
The opposition to women's short hair was much fiercer than the opposition to short dresses had ever been, as short hair connoted emancipation, female defiance, and rebellion against men's judgment in a way that short skirts never had. During this entire controversy, the voices of women who cut their hair were rarely heard in public. Under heavy fire, most young women seemingly preferred to avoid the discursive battles that raged around them. On the few occasions that any of these women did speak up, they generally adopted a very cautious stance, seeking to diffuse the opposition by reassuring critics of their whole-hearted commitment to femininity and respectable womanhood.
In 1925, one young woman who described herself as "old-fashioned" despite her short hair thus sought to counter criticisms of the new styles by denying that there was any link between appearance and identity. "Why in the world should a young girl not be equally feminine and good whether she has bobbed hair or long hair?," she wondered. "It does, after all, not change the nature of the young girl to have her hair cut off." More often, young women simply tried to skirt criticisms by emphasizing the very pragmatic concerns that allegedly had led them to the barbershop. "Much can be said both for and against the bobbed hair, but the fact that it is a practical way of wearing one's hair, nobody can deny," one woman argued.
Nonetheless, the relative silence on the part of the women who wore the new hairstyles did not mean that no voices were raised in their defense. Complicating the picture of vocal male opponents and a largely silent group of female supporters, the chief public advocates of short hair for women in the 1920s were in fact male barbers. Not that barbers were a particularly fashion-conscious bunch or especially committed to young women's right to determine their own appearance. These men simply saw the new styles as a means to propel their profession out of the crisis in which it had lingered for decades.
The rise of the medical and dental professions had dealt the first blow to the former surgeon-barbers, eliminating what had been the most profitable areas of their occupation. Later, when men began to shave themselves rather than frequenting the barber twice or three times weekly, the financial base of most barbershops had been further undercut, and scattered attempts at cultivating new areas of business expertise such as facial massage and manicure had contributed only little to their economy.
In this context, the fashionable new styles for women seemed a god-send for barbers eager to cultivate both a new clientele and new sources of income, and since women's hairdressers generally opposed the short hairstyles and most often refused to cut women's hair, barbers were left with the uncontested responsibility for providing young women with the look they desired. Of course, barbers were not oblivious to the offense women's short hair provoked or the wrath they might incur by accommodating female customers.
It was therefore in their own best interest to counter the opposition, and toward that end they adopted the same strategy that fashion advocates had successfully used a few years earlier, namely, to attempt to disassociate short hair from any kind of subversive intentions on the part of women. Short hair, they insisted, had nothing to do with defiance of feminine conventions or even modern fashions. It was a style adopted for reasons of comfort, ease, and practicality only. "It is not the senseless mimicking of fashion follies that has led women to allow their hair to be cut off," one barber thus insisted in 1926. "Rather, it is the natural development in all social strata that has forced the women to choose a practical hairstyle."
To give credibility to this claim, barbers traced the origins of women's short hair not to feminist rebels or decadent fashions, but to that highly respectable, self-sacrificing female heroine, Florence Nightingale. "When a war begins," one writer explained, "masses of younger and older women who wish to be nurses in the army immediately sign up. The healthiest among them are selected, and the first step on the road to their new vocation is to cut their hair as short as men's, first, because the daily care takes too long time, and secondly, because a nurse cannot run around with a zoo of carnivores [sicl] in her long hair." Upon their return, the reasoning continued, admirers adopted similar hair styles.
Although there was little historical evidence to support such an explanation—after all, Florence Nightingale's reputation had been established during the Crimean War almost three quarters of a century earlier, and few women had followed her example in the intervening years —this argument had several advantages. First, it disassociated short hair from any kind of female defiance. Second, it sought to ground the popularity of the new hairstyles in admirable, patriotic concerns. And third, it tied short hair to notions of health and hygiene. From the mid-1920s, particularly the latter, combined with arguments about the practical requirements of the labor market, formed the core in the defense of women's short hair.
In addition, barbers also sought to address anxieties over the seeming dissipation of gender differences by calling attention to the cultural and historical versatility of hair styles. In an article entitled "Masculine Girl Hair and Feminine Boy Hair," the author set out to prove that "women have not been 'the long-haired sex' for as long as we believe." A sampling of Greek, Roman, and Persian traditions led him to conclude that "long hair appears just as frequently on men as on women when one examines history, which is why hair has nothing whatsoever to do with sexual character."
Just as long hair did not make men less masculine, short hair would not eradicate women's femininity. In fact, some argued, it held the potential of actually heightening it by drawing attention to women's fine facial features. "The shape of the face, the beauty of the skin, as well as the soft lines of the neck" were accentuated by short hair, one barber wrote, poetically comparing a woman's face to a "painting [that] is also seen more clearly in a simple frame." In the case of modern dresses, fashion advocates had gradually managed to convince most critics of their compatibility with conventional womanhood. Short hair fared differently.
Short, simple haircuts for women never gained acceptance in the 1920s, at least not among the men and women who publicly expressed their opinions. The controversy over women's hair only died down at the end of the decade, when a new, modified style of short hair became popular. Ironically, this new short style, which eventually appeased critics, emerged from the beauty salon run by women's hairdressers. Having been entirely unsuccessful in their attempts to coax women into preserving their long hair and eager to regain some of the professional territory lost to barbers, women's hairdressers found themselves forced to dispense with their rejection of the short fashions.
Still unwilling, however, to embrace the bobbed look, they devised a new strategy. Arguing that short hair unfortunately had been "carried to extremes... by the less cultivated segments of the female population" and was sported by "each and every factory and shop-girl," (middle-class) women were offered a chance to distinguish themselves as "finer ladies" through "feminine and graceful styles with curls and waves" while they were waiting for their hair to grow out again. By fashioning themselves as aides to women concerned with the reestablishment of their femininity and by presenting their care for short hair as a form of damage control, hairdressers were able to legitimize their growing interest in women's new hairstyles.
With relatively few ideological scruples they were therefore able to plunge into this profitable market during the last years of the 1920s, gradually recapturing the patronage of most women. However, that women left the barbershop and (re)turned to the beauty salon did not indicate that long hair was regaining its popularity. Fashionable hairstyles for women remained short for the rest of the decade. What did change was the way short hair actually looked. Female hairdressers, one fashion columnist noted with applause, did "everything to give the short style a more feminine air than earlier."
Permanent waves and curls, artificial hair pieces, decorative combs, ribbons, and barrettes all contributed to this goal. This new, feminized version of short hair quickly gained popularity among women interested in variation and possibly weary of public hostility. Within just a few years the original simple, straight styles had virtually been abandoned. Customers, one hairdresser noted with pleasure in 1927, now wanted "to become more feminine, not with completely long hair, but with longer short hair, enough to be curly in the back and around the face .. . so that the repulsive boyish head becomes beautified and more feminine."
Thus, after a brief but troubling intermission where women's adoption of short hair seemed to be blurring gender differences, new curlier versions of bobbed hair marked the reestablishment of gender distinctions in fashionable self-presentation. Even though women continued to cut their hair, the clear stylistic differences between short hair for men and short hair for women soothed critics, and gradually their opposition faded. With their confidence in the stability of sexual difference restored, some of the harshest opponents were even able to admit a few years later that they actually found short hair quite charming and attractive—if not on their wives, then at least on their daughters.”

Y/N’s dreams were staggered and yet, lucid. She knew she had been dreaming, yet nothing in it felt like a dream; more so like she was replaying a real life memory.
She was on a stage. The lights were bright and hot, obscuring the crowd that was spread out beyond her. She could hear their cheers and screams of excitement. She could smell the faint hint of beer wafting in from the sea of darkened faces in front of her. In the dream, she looked down and saw her dad’s guitar back in her hands, and her heart swelled with both pride and ache. Love filled her, and slowly, she turned her head to stage left and saw him waiting for her there….
Jensen.
He was leaning against a speaker that stood nearly ten feet tall. His arms were crossed over his chest, and his beard was fuller than he normally kept it. Y/N could feel his eyes on her, watching, beaming with pride. She felt his joy, his devotion… and then she saw them. Two small shapes bouncing and giggling, stopping just before tumbling out onto the stage. They couldn’t have been older than three or four, and they both had Jensen’s green eyes. She knew they were her children, in the same way she knew it was all a dream. Any minute now she would wake up, and he would be lazily dozing next to her.
Haze and smoke from the crowd began to move in a hypnotizing pattern as it swirled up and into the rafters of the stage lighting. Y/N turned back towards the crowd and knew right then, that her life was just as it should be. She found comfort and solace in the unexpected now and this dream-induced glimpse at a future that could be waiting for her, gave her soul a sort of peace she never knew was possible.
Y/N’s eyes felt the morning light permeate her closed lids. She wasn’t sad in the least that it was time to open them and face her day. The lingering images of the dream found a place in her waking mind and settled in with excitement for seeing it all unfold in the future. But it wasn’t time yet. For now, it was time to enjoy the next two days with Jensen, in the only place on Earth she loved more than being wherever he was.
Pushing herself up and turning over to wrap her arms around Jensen, she was disappointed to find he was no longer there next to her. She knew she had slept a deep, blissful sleep, but she was still surprised that she hadn’t felt him get up. Throwing off the covers, she got up and moved around the room looking for signs of him. The bathroom was empty, as was the small sitting room that led to the door of the room.
Y/N wrinkled her brow, curious where he could have gone. She reached into her bag and pulled out clothes for the day. Turning back towards the bed, a folded piece of pale lavender paper with her name scrawled across the front sat waiting for her on the small nightstand an arm’s reach from her side of the bed.
“Real observant, dummy,” she mocked to herself as she reached for it.
Trix,
Running a couple errands. Should be back by noon. Think about what you wanna do today. Still about a dozen different things I still need to try up on that boardwalk. So let’s work up an appetite and gorge on funnel cakes.
Love ya
-J
She held the note on the hotel stationary and tried to think of where he could have gone. Breakfast waited downstairs in the B&B’s restaurant if they were hungry, and everything else they could possibly need was here in their room. Shrugging it off as Jensen just being his usual surprising self, Y/N slipped off her thin pajama top and went into the bathroom to shower.
When Jensen still hadn’t returned by the time she was finished, she figured she would put her own surprise for him in motion. Y/N scribbled a quick note of her own about where she was going and told him to meet her there.
“Jensen isn’t the only one who can pull off a grand gesture,” she mumbled with a sly smirk as she slipped on her sandals and grabbed her small, over-the-shoulder clutch, cell phone and the keys to the room. Her mind racing at light speed, she closed the door behind her and bounded down the stairs to the lobby of The Grenville.
Within fifteen minutes of leaving the room, Y/N had rented one of the beach cruisers the B&B had available and was within a block of arriving at her destination. Locking up the bike in front of Leo’s posh hotel and office suite, The Breakers, Y/N walked inside, and smiled as the blast of air conditioning smacked her in the face. Between the bike ride and heat of early morning, she was already sweaty and in need of a cold drink.
As she made her way through The Breakers lobby, she smiled and waved at all the familiar faces she had known for most of her life. Her spirits were high, her head clear and focused on what she needed to talk to Leo about. But when she was standing outside his office door, her hand reaching out for the knob to open the large double doors, she heard it. A voice from her past that she thought she would never, ever have to hear again.
Her mother’s.
Y/N couldn’t believe what she was hearing. Of course the tone and words were muffled, but Sherry (Y/L/N) had the kind of voice that could cut through the thickest glass with great ease. It had its way of going right through her, and suddenly triggering an immediate surge of anger and nausea.
Through the heavy oak doors, Y/N could hear Sherry’s laugh; but not a real laugh. The woman was incapable of having any true humor. No, this was her typical sarcastic, condescending, snarky laugh; the one that said ’I am now, have been and always will be, better than you’. And not for the first time in her life, she wondered why her father was so miserable for so long about her leaving. Losing Sherry wasn’t a real loss. In fact, it probably is why Y/N ended up being the kind of person she grew into being.
It was hearing her own name that finally prompted Y/N to twist the handle that now slipped from the nervous sweat coating on her palms. All thoughts of why she was there in the first place flew out the window. Now she just needed to know why the Wicked Witch of the East was returning to disrupt her happy life.
The air in the room, normally cool enough to hang meat, was heavy and humid. The sound of the door opening caused both Sherry and Leo to stop their conversation mid-sentence and turn to see Y/N standing there.
Poor Leo, she thought, gauging his expression of shock, first. Poor bastard had no idea Sherry was coming…
Sherry cleared her throat, and took a confident step towards her daughter.
“Your hair is different,” she said, and picked up one of the loose tendrils that had fallen from Y/N’s signature messy bun. “It’s dry. You should condition it more.”
Y/N turned away from Leo and allowed her (y/c/e)s to examine the woman’s face that stood in front of her. It was Sherry alright, but time had not been kind. The lines in her face were deep and telling of how rough those years had treated her. Y/N took some solace in how worn and almost broken her mother looked and was ready to fire off a quip or dig of some kind. Instead took the unexpected path, and simply said, “Thank you for that advice Sherry. Now, what brings you back to the town you couldn’t wait to disappear from?”
“Oh, my daughter…” she narrowed her eyes and made an attempt at a pleasant grin. “It’s good to know some things never change. How have you been? I heard about your exciting new career in event planning.”
“What are you doing here, Sherry?” Y/N turned from her mother and snapped her gaze intensely on Leo. “Leo… what the hell is going on?”
“Honey, relax,” Leo tutted in his most gentle tone. “I know you and your ma here have a bad history, but she is still my sister. She’s come for--”
“I can explain it myself, Leo. You don’t have to speak for me as if I am an infant.”
“Maybe if you didn’t act like one most of your life…” Y/N mumbled, her arms crossing over her breasts so tight she nearly cut off her own circulation. “Seriously, what the fuck are you doing here?”
“Well,” Sherry started, then threw her own purse on one of the cream colored wingback chairs, before sitting in the one adjacent. “I was contacted by the Manger Development Group. They are interested in buying a stretch of homes on the Seaside Heights, Lavalette border. One of the homes they are interested in is the bungalow.”
Y/N felt a twist in her gut. She wanted to sit, but she wouldn’t give her mother the satisfaction to have to toss her purse from the only other free chair. “Sss-so what? What does that have to do with you? Leo owns the bungalow.”
Sherry snorted a laugh, partially covering her mouth with the back of her hand. “I’m sorry, what? Says who?”
“Leo?” Y/N asked, but when she saw his expression, she already knew that Sherry wasn’t lying. “You own the bungalow, that’s what you told me. And that one day you would be deeding it to me.”
“I know that’s what I said, honey, but... “
“But my brother made some bad investments about eight years ago, and this time I was in a position to bail him out. He sold me the bungalow for a dirt cheap price with the promise you would never know.”
“I can’t believe this,” Y/N whispered to herself, hanging her chin towards her chest, and fighting the urge to pull her bun loose and pull out her hair.
“The reason I am here is because the Manger group wants to tear down the stretch of homes between the end of the boardwalk and 10th Street. Everything will be cleared and brand new condos will be going up.”
“You can’t just sell my home!” Y/N yelled, surprising even herself with the child-like whine in her tone. “Leo! You can’t… she can’t.. That’s… that’s MY HOME!”
“No, actually, Y/N. It’s not. It belongs to me,” Sherry said calmly while pinching the bridge of her nose. “I have allowed you to stay there, and took no credit for it because I know how you feel about me. But it’s time to sell and move on. Besides, aren’t you living in Austin… or is it Vancouver?”
Her expression went from frustrated to ice cold. The steely gray eyes peered into Y/N’s and made her feel as she did when she was a child and being reprimanded by the woman in front of her. Sherry was daring her to take the bait, keep the fight going. Knowing she would stumble over her words and just end up looking like a child throwing a tantrum--which was just what Sherry wanted--she bit her lip.
“You told her about what I’m doing now?” Y/N turned to Leo once again. “Knowing our history and all she has put our family through, you still told her about the festival, Austin… did you tell her about Jensen, too?”
“No, Y/N, I didn’t tell her a thing about your life. I wouldn’t…”
“He’s not lying, Y/N. Other than selling me the bungalow, he’s been completely loyal to you, his niece, over me, his sister. But I can let that go… Nathan actually told me about your new life, and yes, even your new boyfriend. I always did like that Nate, no idea why you two broke up.”
Y/N’s blood began to boil beneath her skin at the sound of Nathan’s name. She swallowed thickly, the air caught somewhere in her throat. She must have gone pale, because Leo came out from behind his desk and placed a hand on her shoulder.
“Honey, you alright?”
But Y/N barely registered his voice or his touch and kept her gaze fixed on her mother. “You… you talked to Nathan?”
“Yes, several times over the last few months. He kept me very up to date on everything you’ve been doing. He’s so proud of you.”
Now she did feel as if she were going to faint. Racing thoughts plagued her mind and while she couldn’t make sense of them, she also didn’t want to believe the feeling that was growing in the pit of her stomach could be true. Was it her own mother behind Nathan’s violence and not Dee? Could she be THAT cruel?
“Nathan is a psychopath…” she managed to squeak out, but once those words cleared her lips, she could feel the anger begin to flow right along with the volume of her voice. “A FUCKING PSYCHOPATH, MOTHER! Do you even KNOW what he did? Do you?! NO! Of course you don’t! You’re a fucking joke, you know that?!”
She paused for a moment, and was about to lay into Sherry further, when the office doors opened for the second time. When they all turned, Jensen was standing there in the doorway, a perplexed expression, his eyes narrowing in on Sherry as he tried to read the tension in the room.
“Someone wanna tell me what the shouting is all about?” Jensen said, taking a tentative step into Leo’s office and closing the door softly behind him. No one spoke until he reached Y/N’s side. “You alright, Trix?” he asked and protectively put his arm around the small of her back.
“No, not even a little. Jensen, this is Sherry… my mother.”
“Oh,” he said and brought his gaze back around to Sherry, who was now standing from the chair and approaching him with her hand outstretched in a greeting.
“Nice to meet you. You must be the Jensen I’ve heard so much about.”
“Hmm… that’s me… and, uh, who was telling you all about me? Because I know Y/N and you don’t talk so...?” Jensen trailed off and looked over to Leo, who shrugged slightly and shook his head.
“Nathan did,” Y/N spoke up, and instantly felt Jensen’s body stiffen against hers.
Jensen’s expression went steely and cold. “Did he now?”
“Mhm… apparently he and Sherry here have been in touch more than a few times over the last year. Isn’t that right, mom?”
“Yes. And I am sorry you think he’s a psychopath, but--”
“Wait,” Jensen interrupted with a snarky laugh. “THINK he’s a psychopath? THINK? Lady… we have first hand proof of his instability and violence. Let’s start with the fact that he put your daughter in the hospital after breaking her nose and giving her a concussion. Then, let’s move on to when he just showed up at her place in Austin, harassing her. Or how he broke into that house and trashed everything in it! If that’s not enough proof for you… the last time your daughter saw him, he jumped her in a parking lot and tried to choke her!”
Leo and Sherry stood speechless, staring at Jensen as his own anger grew. Y/N stood stoically beside him, torn between feeling sick at hearing it all back again and loving Jensen even more for standing up for her. Not too many people had ever done that for her in her life.
“Y/N, I had no idea it was that bad…” Leo rasped, emotion filling his features.
“Doesn’t matter Leo,” she said and pushed back her shoulders. “He’s wanted for questioning in both cases. So, Sherry, if you know where he is now, and don’t tell us or the Austin Police Department, I will have them charge you as an accessory.” Finding some new found strength, she stepped away from Jensen’s side and moved closer to her mother. “For all you have put me through, for all you put my FATHER through, if you protect Nathan, if you give him one minute of asylum, I will be more than happy to do whatever I have to for them to charge you with aiding and abetting a fugitive.”
Sherry stared at her daughter, speechless. When she turned to her brother, Leo’s sour expression said all she needed to know. “Well, I will take that under advisement,” she said as she slowly reached for her purse off the chair.
“No need to rush out, you and Leo continue your business. Jensen and I are leaving.”
Not another word was said by any of them. As Jensen and Y/N laced their fingers together, and headed out the double doors of Leo’s office, the silence was so deafening, the world’s smallest pin could be heard dropping to the plush carpeted floor.

“Where were you this morning anyway?” Y/N asked absently as she watched the familiar scenery of the shore go by slowly out of the passenger side window of the rental car.
“Just had to run a quick errand,” he replied nonchalantly. “What made you go to Leo’s office in the first place?”
“Oh shit,” she mumbled and shook her head in frustration. “I wanted to ask him a favor. When I walked in and saw Sherry, I completely forgot about it.”
“What favor?”
Y/N shrugged. “Was going to ask him to borrow his boat for the afternoon. Thought we could take it out on the bay.”
“We can still find a boat rental I’m sure--”
“Nah, fuck that,” Y/N said, and suddenly sat up straighter in her seat. “Make your next right and go til you can’t go anymore. We’re taking Leo’s anyway.”
Jensen took his attention from the road to stare her down, seeing if she was serious. By the devilish gleam in her eyes and hint of the sly smile on her face, he knew without a doubt, she was.
It took barely fifteen minutes for Y/N to ransack Leo’s house for the boat keys, and another five for her and Jensen to walk down to the marina where he docked it. As they approached Leo’s thirty-eight foot Rinker Yacht, Sunset Dreams, Jensen’s eyes lit up.
“Well damn, Trix. I thought we were taking out a small boat. Maybe we should tell him. This thing is no joke.”
“Oh, I know. I’ve taken it out before. And trust me, after what Leo did to me, he owes me one.”
“What did he do? Is that what the fighting was about back at his office? Because we never really did get to that…”
Y/N paused as she opened the gate to the Dreams’ slip. Her shoulders fell as her head dipped towards her chest. He could see just from her stance that she was feeling defeated, almost like the night of the break-in. But there was more anger in her this time and he knew that whatever had happened in that office before he got there, was weighing her down like a stone.
She turned to him and he could see she wasn’t ready to answer him. “Can we talk about it later? Right now I just want to get out on the water and not think about anything.”
Jensen took her hand in his and kissed the back of it. “Of course. C’mon, let’s go steal your uncle’s yacht.”
Y/N wasted no time firing up the engine, and prepping the boat to set sail. Jensen watched her movements, impressed with her knowledge and comfort in maneuvering the large vessel. She had no fear steering it from its slip at the marina and navigating it expertly through the canals that wrapped around large homes like the waterways of Venice. Occasionally, Y/N would look over her shoulder at Jensen, who stood in the same spot, just observing her every action.
“Wanna drive, Hollywood?”
Jensen shook his head. “Nah, I am enjoying my view from right here just fine.”
She rolled her eyes and smirked at him just like she normally did and went back to driving the boat. Where that common gesture of hers normally amused him, this time it left him feeling… wrong.
“Hey,” he said, stepping closer and placing his hand on her shoulder to turn her attention back to him. “Don’t roll your eyes at me, woman. I wasn’t trying to be cute.”
“Awww, you don’t have to try,” she teased and playfully patted his cheek. He knew her well enough at this point that he could tell she was covering any sort of “real” talk with her charming sarcastic wit. Any other time he would banter with her like this all day, but right then he felt the need to reiterate to her why he was so intently watching her.
“Y/N, stop. Don’t try and brush me off with a joke. You know why I stand here sometimes and just watch you?” His eyes searched hers curiously, and she tried to look away. Jensen wasn’t having it and gently directed her face back to his. “I mean it. Do you know?”
“N-No…” she said with a tired shrug. “Why?”
“Because you amaze me. And not just because I think you’re absolutely beautiful. It’s everything. Yes, I love your face, and your messy buns. Hell, I even love your old worn out band shirts. But I love everything you do. You tackle everything with a kind of energy and determination that is only rivaled by over-sugared toddlers at bedtime.”
Y/N couldn’t help but snort a laugh as she quickly covered her mouth and nose with her hand in mild embarrassment.
“Yeah, you laugh… you didn’t know Jared’s kids at that age… my GOD... “ he paused, allowing his smile to fade and worked on bringing her back to his point. “Trix, you have no idea what you have brought into my life. Forget the fact that I am ridiculously head over heels in love with you… but just the things you do amaze me. You sing like an angel, create music, produce, organize… somehow can keep Robbie in line, carry the weight of the world on your shoulders and still manage to keep going. Hell, now I find out you can steal and drive a yacht like it's as simple as tying your shoes? You make me laugh, and make me feel passionate about life again. You make me believe and have faith in things that I didn’t put much stock in before. So, sometimes, when I am just sitting back and watching you… it's because I am amazed that someone as wonderful as you--for some reason--decided I was the schmuck you wanted to spend your free time with.”
Y/N’s (y/c/e) filled with tears, and despite her best efforts they spilled quickly down her cheeks. “I swear to God Jensen, if you get down on one knee right now I will throw your ass overboard,” she quipped and swiped at the remaining drops on her cheek.
“Go for it, I can swim,” he shrugged, and brushed a stray hair from her face. “I want you to hear what I am saying. Really hear me, okay?”
She bit down on her lip and nodded softly.
“Y/N, you have endless potential and I hate that those people who were supposed to be there to support you and encourage you, failed you. I hate what I walked in on in Leo’s office today and I don’t even have the details yet. I hated it because I could tell you felt attacked and alone. I never, ever want you to feel that way again. You got me, baby. I will be your family, your friend, your partner… and so will Robbie, Bri… all of us.”
“Jensen… I... “ she couldn’t find the words she needed. To give herself time, she quickly turned back to the control deck of the Sunset Dreams and gently guided the vessel into the open waters of the Barnegat Bay. Jensen waited for her to gather her thoughts, and didn’t press for a response or even acknowledgement of his declaration. Instead, knowing she would reply when she was ready, he stepped back and continued watching her work.
A little while later, she killed the engine and just let the yacht float freely. Y/N turned back to Jensen, and instead of saying anything, she simply took his hand and led him out onto the cushioned seats that lined the stern. He followed her lead and sat down, but never let go of her hand.
“Today I found out that Leo sold the bungalow to my mother. She holds the deed for the house and land.”
“Oh…” Jensen didn’t know if that was a question or a statement himself. “W-Why would he do that?”
“Sherry claims he made some bad investments, and she bailed him out for a change. That whole thing makes no sense, because no way my mother has that kind of money laying around.”
“Rich boyfriend?”
“I don’t know. Doesn’t matter anymore. She agreed to sell the land to a developer. This group wants to come in and demolish a bunch of houses right there on that stretch of beach… mine… the Sinatra house… gone. All to put up some crappy time share condos for idiots to come and trash our town.”
“Jesus…” Jensen groaned and sat back against the cushions, finally allowing her hand to slip from his. He leaned forward in frustration, resting his elbows on his knees and rubbing his hands over his face. “Is there any way to stop her?”
“I don’t know, Jay. But… that’s my home. That’s the one thing I have left of my father.” Her voice cracked on the last word, and Jensen didn’t hesitate to pull her into him. He turned her body so that her back rested against his chest, as he wrapped his arms around her shoulders, clasping his hands above her breasts.
Jensen rested his chin on her shoulder, his lips a breath away from her ear. “Baby, no matter what… your dad is always with you,” he said softly.
That one sentence was what finally broke her. The tears came in heaping waves and his grip on her tightened. After months and months of stress, close calls and constant fear that Nathan had caused her, Jensen wasn’t surprised in the least that she was unloading it all. She crossed her arms over his as he sat there holding her until the tears finally stopped.
“I’m sorry,” she sniffed, and tried to move from his embrace.
“Don’t you dare apologize,” he replied and pulled her closer. “You’ve been holding all that in way too long.”
“Doesn’t mean I need to snot all over you. Lemme up.” Y/N tapped his arms to let her go, and this time he complied.
Y/N disappeared down into the galley for a moment, but returned a moment later with a handful of tissues and two bottles of cold beer. She handed one to him and twisted the cap off her own before sitting back down.
“Thank you,” she started and held her hand up to stop him when it looked like he was going to try and interrupt her. “My turn, okay?”
Jensen nodded and opened his beer.
“You’re not the only one amazed, okay? What you have done for me, what you have done for… everyone. You inspire me, Jensen. You make me want to get up and tackle things like a sugar-fueled toddler,” she snorted a delicate laugh. “You helped me come out of my shell, and do things I didn’t think I had it in me to do. You’re a great partner to work with, you’re everything a girl could ask for in a guy. So let’s just say I am as equally shocked as you are, that I am the one you want to share your time with.”
“I didn’t say all that to make you--”
“Hush. I’m talking now, Hollywood. You had your turn.”
Y/N took a sip of her beer then inched a bit closer to Jensen. She caressed the side of his cheek and leaned in to kiss his lips, longingly, but gentle. “I love you, Jensen. No matter what happens from here on out, never doubt that.”
“Even when I know deep down that it was Robert who has really captured your heart,” he replied; his ability to keep a straight face was absolutely infuriating to Y/N, who’s serious demeanor cracked instantly.
“Yes, jerk. Even though Robert will always secretly be my number one. But never tell him, it will just go to his head.”
She couldn’t dismiss the smile that had returned to her face, nor did she want too. Only Jensen knew just what to say, and how to say it, so she could say what she needed to, and yet moments later come back to their version of normal; smiling and joking with each other as they always did.
Jensen cleared his throat and took her hand in his again, giving it a slight squeeze. “I just want to say one more thing, and then we can drop it for now, okay?”
Y/N nodded and motioned for him to continue.
“Let me look into the developers and see what’s going on. If I can help, I want to. But I won’t without your okay. I want to work with you, never against you.”
“Okay,” she said, and kissed him again. “I guess it wouldn’t hurt.”
“That’s my girl.” Jensen winked at her and pulled a long drink from his bottle. “Now, whatcha say we get some music on, and now you let me drive this baby further out into the bay?”
For the next hour, Jensen navigated the boat through the bay, while Y/N pointed out all the places she had fond memories of from growing up in Seaside. He listened to each detail, soaking in as much about her past as he was of the hot September sun. They laughed a lot, and occasionally he would notice her looking off into the distance, quiet and contemplative. He didn’t intrude on those moments; he wanted her to be able to let her mind wander, but knew he had the ability to pull her back when she started drifting too far from him.
After several hours, the heat of the day was getting intense. Being out on the water provided a cooling breeze, but the feeling of the sun on their skin was making it borderline uncomfortable.
Y/N went down into the galley to grab them each a cold water. When she returned, she placed his on the side of the controls and asked, “Wanna go for a swim?”
“Where? Here in the bay? Is that safe with all the jet skis and other boats?”
“No, I know a safe spot we can anchor and take a quick swim.”
“I don’t have a bathing suit. Someone forgot to inform me of our plans to steal a yacht today.” Jensen frowned and shrugged playfully.
“Oh, please. I am sure there is a suit down in the galley you can borrow. Or…” she trailed off, and leaned back to check out his ass. “I have no problem watching you go skinny dipping.”
“We’ve talked about this, Trix. You need to love me for more than just my body.”
“I do, I promise. I love your front as much as your back.”
“Alright, perv… where’s this ‘safe spot’ you wanna get me naked at?”
Y/N wiggled her brows and flashed him that same grin she had when she suggested stealing Leo’s yacht. Jensen didn’t think he could be anymore in love with her than he was at that moment. She was fun, and easy to be with. Even in the moments where things looked bleak, or they struggled with outside influences like Dee and Nathan, Y/N was still the only woman he could ever imagine loving for the rest of his life.
Twenty minutes later, she was instructing Jensen on how to drop the anchor and shut down the engines. Once the boat was secured, she retrieved a pair of swim trunks for him to change into. Y/N didn’t wait for him to return, she peeled off her tank top and shorts, revealing the simple dark blue bikini beneath it and dove head first into the cool bay water. When she surfaced, she saw Jensen standing at the stern, his hands on his hips and a contented soft smile on his lips.
“Couldn’t wait for me, huh?”
“Nope. Too damn hot to wait for you. Come on in, the water feels amazing!”
Y/N dipped beneath the water again, submerging her head completely then propelling herself back up when she felt Jensen splash into the water beside her. They were the only two in sight; no other boats around, no people watching from the shoreline. They were alone in their own little world and neither of them could have been happier.
Splashing at each other, swimming and even a little bet on who could make it back to the boat the fastest kept them busy until each of their stomachs started rumbling at nearly the same exact moment.
“Guess maybe we should eat something,” she suggested as she swam by him towards the boat’s ladder.
“Not so fast, Trix,” he said, grabbing her by the waist and yanking her against him.
He loved how she felt when she was close and could never seem to get enough of her. Since she agreed to stay with him in Vancouver, they had been together countless times. Never once did he tire of her touch, or her kiss. The more days that passed by, the more he craved her. Just the thought of it caused him to grow hard, and his mouth went to her neck, biting and kissing from her shoulder up to her ear.
Y/N was just as infatuated with his touch as he was with hers, and didn’t hesitate to stretch out her neck to let him kiss her. She wanted him to keep going, to take her right there in the water. If not for another loud rumble from her stomach, she would have encouraged him to do so.
“Jay…” she moaned just loud enough for him to hear her over the small waves lapping against the boat. “Wait…”
“Hmmm?” he replied without removing his lips from her neck.
She laughed and struggled out of his embrace. When she finally broke free, she swam back towards the boat.
“Come on, Trix!”
“Dude, I need to eat. So do you. There’s a restaurant less than a mile from here that has a parking lot for boats. We can go eat, then come back and pick this up.”
“Seriously? A parking lot for boats… you mean… a marina?”
“I seriously hate you right now. Come on, let’s get dry and dressed, go eat and then maybe, if you aren’t being a pain in the ass, I’ll let you get to second base.”
Jensen couldn’t help but laugh as she flashed him a challenging expression just before she reboarded the boat. Lifting one of the cushioned seats, she pulled out two towels and wrapped one around her shoulders. When he realized she wasn’t getting back in the water, he sighed and resigned himself to just having to wait to have her until later.
Within an hour Jensen was directing the Sunset Dreams into a slip at the Water Street Restaurant and Marina. He got a little to close on the starboard side and nearly hit another boat.
“One too many beers there, Captain?” She teased, “Maybe next time I should be the one to park.”
Deciding to ignore her jab, he offered his elbow and escorted her to dinner at Water Street. As they approached the patio entrance, they both realized just how crowded the place was. Forgetting it was Labor Day weekend at the shore, Y/N turned to him and shrugged.
“Sorry… maybe this place isn’t a good idea. I can tell you right now, you will get recognized and bombarded by people if we walk in there. Don’t know where my head is at today… Tomorrow is Labor Day, every restaurant in this town is going to be insanely busy.”
“They do take out? Let’s grab a bunch of apps and just go back to the boat. Besides, I really wanna get back to what we were doing before. That is much more appetizing to me right now than a plate of mozzarella sticks.”
As if on cue, a waitress walked through the patio carrying a large tray of food. The smell of which smacked Jensen right in the face and immediately caused his stomach to grumble in protest loud enough for Y/N to hear it clearly.
“Yeah,” she laughed. “Take out is a great idea. Head back to the boat, I’ll order up some stuff and meet you back there.”
“You sure?” he asked and when she nodded, he leaned in and kissed her lips. “Alright… get some wings… maybe some onion rings.” She nodded again and went to head inside. “Wait, Trix! If they got nachos---”
“On it,” she laughed and left him with a wink and that smile that could bring him to his damn knees.
For as busy as the place was, it didn’t take Y/N too long to return with their take-out order. She chose four different appetizers for them to share, plus a six-pack of a local brew she liked. He was impressed with the craft beer, and as he suggested getting some for the festival she shook her head.
“Already done. They came on board two months ago and will have a booth right next to Javier and Midway.”
“Told you that you were amazing,” Jensen mused and took another swig from the bottle before shoving a handful of nachos into his mouth. “Alright, enough work talk. Let’s get this bad boy back out to the bay so I can have my way with you.”
“Good lord man, can’t you let your food settle? You’re liable to get a cramp.”
“Oh, I’m gonna stiffen up alright…” Jensen took the onion ring from her hand and tossed it back in the container, before he lowered himself down towards her. He was being playful and flirty, no real intentions of taking her right there on the stern of the boat in front of a patio full of diners. But hearing her laugh as she smacked his shoulder, trying to thwart his advances, made his heart flutter and his knees go weak.
“You’re insufferable,” Y/N laughed and got up from her seat. “Why don’t you clean up, and I’ll get the boat going to head back towards Leo’s. I am sure we could find a quiet place to anchor for an hour or so; make good use of that stateroom.”
She kissed him sweetly and when he was wrapped up in returning it, she slipped out from under him.
“That’s the second time today you’ve denied me, Trix. Careful or I’m going to develop a complex.”
“Ha! Okay… whatever you say, Hollywood,” she said as she blew him a kiss and headed up to the Captain’s Chair to get the Sunset Dreams in motion.
Once the engines were roaring, she carefully maneuvered the vessel out of its slip and back into the channel that led to the open bay waters. It was a tight squeeze through Water Street’s marina, but she took her time and eventually got the boat clear and headed towards open waters. She could hear Jensen below deck, humming to himself as he went about cleaning up. A minute or two later, music began playing from the galley and she correctly assumed he found Leo’s hidden stereo system that was wired to play through the entire vessel. While he scanned the radio stations, she kept her vision straight ahead but her thoughts reflected on the day.
Their earlier conversation was fresh in her mind, though she tried her best not to show him how much it had affected her. She knew that he loved her, and that she could trust him. But the way he handled her mother, the way he held her and just let her cry… the overwhelming surge of love she felt for him was unexpected and threw her for a loop. She was scared, but invigorated by the excitement he made her feel. She could be her authentic self around him with no worry of judgement or repercussions. Other than her father, she never felt like that around anyone else in her life.
From below, she could hear him scanning the stations and when he finally found something he liked, she heard the volume turn all the way up. He was singing along at the top of his lungs as he moved around down there. Y/N had to resist the urge to go wrap her arms around him, then let him take her to bed. She gave one last look at the gauges and noticed gas was low. Knowing there was enough to hit the cove, then get back to Leo’s marina, she set the course to head back to the secluded spot for a bit before returning her uncle’s prized vessel.

Jensen had finished cleaning up and fiddled with the radio for a bit trying to find a good XM Station. He caught a classic rock one that played one great song after the next, and when Bryan Adam’s Summer of 69 started up three songs later, he celebrated with a quiet fist pump and began to sing along again. He was so wrapped up in the song and tidying up around the galley, he never felt the Sunset Dreams come to a stop, nor did he hear Y/N come down the small flight of stairs.
By the second chorus, he turned and saw her there. A grin on her face stretched ear to ear, casually leaning against the frame of the doorway that led down into the small kitchen area. Jensen didn’t care for a second that he got busted, nor did he miss a beat. He went to her, grabbed her hand and pulled her down the steps and into the kitchenette. Jensen moved her in animated fashion, twirling her around the galley, then gripping her waist tight, and dipping her back as he sang at the top of his lungs…
“Oh when you held my hand,
I knew that it was now or never.
Those were the best days of my life.
OH YEAH!”
His whole demeanor caused her to erupt with laughter. The more he danced and sang with her, the harder she laughed. When the song finally ended, they were both trying to catch their breath. The first few notes of Bad Company’s Feel Like Makin’ Love began to play through the speakers, and any thoughts either of them had to take a breather, was gone.
Jensen’s hands were on her waist again, pulling her closer against him. Y/N wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him hard. Clothes flew off in all directions as he walked her back a few steps towards the small bedroom. Y/N fell back onto the bed and giggled as Jensen struggled to get his last bit of clothing off before he pulled down her bikini bottoms. He stood back for a moment and just allowed his eyes to drink her in and appreciate just how magical she really was. Every inch of her body, flawed or not, was beautiful to him. From a single strand of hair, down to the tips of her toes, there wasn’t an inch of her he wasn’t fascinated by.
Y/N propped herself up on her elbows and flashed him a wanting look. “Jay… you’re doing that staring thing again.”
“How could I not... “ he slowly climbed on the bed, gently pushed her to lay down and hovered his body over hers. “...when I have the most amazing woman in the world, naked, laying here in front of me.”
“You’re gonna get laid, you don’t have to lay it on so thick,” she teased.
His eyes grabbed hers and refused to let go. When he spoke again, his voice was raspy and low. “I know there’s a dirty joke in there somewhere, but right now all I want to do is show you how much I love you.”
Jensen kissed her sweetly, but the sweetness faded to passion almost immediately. They didn’t need foreplay; the whole day had been leading up to this moment. She was ready for him, and relished in the way he took her; slowly letting himself slide into the part of her that ached most for him, and letting his lips linger on hers as he did. Y/N softly moaned his name as her head dipped back, and his mouth trailed lingering kisses down her chin to her neck.
There was no hurry, no animalistic urge taking over this time. Each time their bodies came together, the rush of love and intimacy was what made it feel euphoric. Sex was a common occurrence for them and never once had it been mediocre or vanilla. They made love until their bodies couldn’t hold out any longer, and when Y/N’s orgasm hit her, she wrapped her arms tightly around his shoulders, pulling his mouth to hers as she whispered “I love you” into his lips. Her words alone made Jensen’s climax follow, and he gripped her just as tight.
When his body stopped shaking, he rolled off her and laid on the bed beside her. He immediately drew her against him, and she rested her head on his chest while his fingers lightly glided along her arm.
“I love you, Trix,” he said softly, followed by a loving kiss against her forehead. “More than I could ever really explain.”
Y/N snuggled closer into him and closed her eyes. She felt her body relax against his, and as his breathing slowed and leveled out, Y/N could feel herself fall further into a state of relaxation that she hadn’t felt in a long time. The sun, water, food and sex had done them in and Y/N and Jensen were lulled to sleep by the gentle waves rocking the Sunset Dreams.
By the time Y/N opened her eyes again, the light in the stateroom was much dimmer than it had been when they stumbled in earlier. She sat straight up and immediately felt how cold the room had become.
“What the fuck,” she mumbled, then looked over at Jensen, who was still snoring softly beside her. “Jensen… Jay… wake up.” She gave his arm a tap, waited a moment, then gave him a harder tap.
He woke up with a snort, and wiped at some drool that had escaped the corner of his mouth.  “What time… where…” the roar of a jet ski engine whizzed past the port window, “right… Boat.”
“We passed out,” she said as she got up off the bed, taking the blanket and wrapping it around her shoulders. “Why is it so cold in here? Did we sleep until winter?”
“Oh shit, no. I forgot, when I came down here earlier to clean up, I found the air conditioning controls. Thought I would cool it off down here since it was so hot out on deck before.”
Y/N heard his words, but couldn’t react. After he said the words air conditioner, her mind was reeling.
“No… no no no,” she mumbled and started to scan the floor for her clothes.
“What? Did I do something wrong?”
“No, not at all. I just--just wait. Let me…” she got distracted looking for her clothes, then remembered the rest were in the kitchen. Jensen, half amused, watched her with fascination as she procured her top and shorts and tried to put them on as she stumbled through the galley towards the stairs to the deck. “Be right back!”
Y/N got to the Captain’s chair and checked the gauges. She saw the gas had run down lower, but it still registered there was enough fuel to get them back. She fell back into the seat with a relieved sigh and laughed to herself. Jensen appeared a moment later, back to fully clothed and peering over her shoulder with concern.
“We okay? Something wrong?”
“Low on fuel. Thought the AC would have drained it but I guess we’re good,” she shrugged, and went to turn the engines back on.
When they first failed to turn over, she brushed it off, waited a moment and tried again. Nothing. Looking back over her shoulder, Jensen replied with a silent shrug. Y/N tried again, and this time, the gas gauge fell straight to E.
“What the fuck,” she mumbled and flicked it with her fingers. When she did, it sprang back up to full, then fell to half, then fell back to empty. She felt her stomach drop, then couldn’t help the fit of laughter that followed.
Jensen watched her in amusement. “What?”
“Gauge is broken,” she laughed, “we’re out of gas.”
“Are you messing with me?” he asked, half joking, half serious. “Tell me you’re joking, Trix.”
Y/N shook her head. “Wish I could, but… nooope. We are stuck.”
“You’re way too cool about this.”
“It’s not a big deal, but--” Y/N’s cell phone started to ring from the depths of her clutch down in the galley, cutting off her words. “How much you wanna bet that’s Leo.”
Y/N jumped up and ran down into the galley, grabbing it on the last ring before voicemail.
“Hello?” she answered half breathless.
“You took it again, didn’t you?” Leo asked, his tone already resigned with knowing.
“Ummm… yeah.”
“Wish you woulda asked. Gas gauge is broken.”
“Sorta just figured that out. That’s actually why I came to the office this morning. Was going to ask you to borrow the boat today.”
“Honey, about that--”
“Leo, I appreciate you wanting to talk, but right now, I just wanna get this thing moving and come back; enjoy the rest of my vacation. I promise you, we will talk though.”
“Alright. If that’s what you want to do. I’ll give Gus a call and have him meet you out that way. Where are ya?”
“We are anchored out by the cove, across from Water Street.”
“Hang tight. Have someone out soon.”
They said their goodbyes, and Y/N returned her phone to the counter with a relieved sigh. She knew her uncle wouldn’t care about the boat. A service call for a fill up is a drop in the bucket for him. The relief was more because he didn’t press the issue. Leo liked to talk things out to death sometimes, and that weekend was for her and Jensen. Sherry’s unexpected return already threw a wrench in things, but she didn’t want to go back to that dumpster fire of a situation.
Y/N turned to head back up, and Jensen was already coming down the stairs. “What’d he say?”
“He’s sending out his friend Gus with fuel. Gus doesn’t live too far from here, and it’s not the first time this has happened so…” she trailed off with a shrug, but a bit of melancholy threatened beneath it. “It will take him an hour at least. You already cleaned up in here, I’ll go take care of the stateroom.”
She turned to leave and Jensen gently grabbed her arm. “Whoa, whoa. Hold on there, Trix. What’s up? Don’t act all cool for my benefit. What else did Leo say?”
“Just wanted to talk about what happened today. Told him we could, just not now. I just want to enjoy our time together. Not think about anymore bullshit.”
“I couldn’t agree more.” Jensen smiled at her softly, the crinkles around his eyes slightly more defined. As he cupped the side of her face with his palm, she leaned into him and closed her eyes. She leaned forward and rested her head against his chest as he moved his arms to wrap around her snuggly. “The rest of today and tomorrow. It’s all for us. Then Tuesday we get back to real life. Until then, I say we have the best damn time we can have. Eat and drink ourselves into a comatose state and then wake up and go nuts on each other.”
Y/N snorted a laugh into his chest and when she looked up at him, he was flashing her a cheesy smile and wiggling his brows.
“You read my mind,” she replied and hugged him back while she rested her head back on his chest.
“Good. So, what’s on tonight’s agenda?”
“Let’s go find a bar with some live music, have a few shots, few drinks… go make out on the beach again.”
“See, this is why we get along so well,” Jensen teased. “Now go clean up in there, woman, I’ll get our stuff together.”

A couple hours later, Leo’s boat had been returned, and Jensen and Y/N finally made their way to their room at the Grenville. Each enjoyed a refreshingly cool shower and changed, ready for a night out on the boardwalk. After some quick Google searching and little consideration, Y/N told him where to go so they could go check out EJ’s Tap House. She had been there many times before and knew the venue well. It was a corner bar up on the boardwalk, right at the end of the pier with the rides. They always had great live bands, and the beer on tap was cold ‘n cheap. It was easily her favorite place to hang out in.
Jensen parked the rental car, and was once again hit in the face with the overwhelming aroma of boardwalk food.
“I know we ate but damn, we are going to have to get something up here later.”
“It’s Labor Day weekend, everything will be open, I promise,” she laughed and caught up to him in front of the car. Jensen grabbed her hand and led the way up the ramp to the main boardwalk.
The band playing that night at EJ’s was one Y/N had seen a few times in a variety of places up and down the shore. 7Minds was a popular local band, but had turned her down when she approached them about the festival. When she saw they were playing at her favorite bar, she knew that’s where they needed to go.
As they walked through the room, they found a quiet table off to the side of the stage. Once the seats were claimed, Jensen went to the bar to get their drinks, and Y/N sat watching the band set up the stage with their mics, speakers and instruments. As a musician herself, she was always fascinated with other musicians’ and their process of setting their stage. She had never played anything much bigger than a burlesque show at the Bamboo; but with that she had the rest of the cast, props… costumes. She could become Trixie Luna and transform herself into someone with the real confidence it takes to fill a stage. As she sat and watched, she couldn’t help but question if she could do that as herself, and more importantly, BY herself. Robbie was so adamant about her playing a set. But even with the promise of Louden Swain behind her, she didn’t know if her presence would be enough to conquer the stage successfully.
By the time Jensen returned with their drinks, the band had finished their setup, then vacated the stage. Due to start in a few minutes, Jensen moved his chair to sit beside her and get a better view.
“Is this one of the festival bands?” he asked after sipping at his bottle of beer.
“Nope, they turned me down.”
“Seriously? Why? H-How do you turn down an opportunity like that?”
Y/N shrugged. “Never really got a firm reason. They just declined every time I called. Wouldn’t even really hear me out.”
“Then why did you wanna come hear them play? Screw them.”
“They’re a good band, Jay. They got a big following. Thought if I could catch them in person... “ she gave an innocent shrug and took a swig from her own bottle.
“Ah, I gotcha. Gonna corner them and turn on the charm… good plan.”
“No, I’ll corner them, YOU charm them. I need you to put your famous face to work, baby,” she winked animatedly and shot him a finger gun.
He feigned disgust with her and leaned back in his chair. “How dare you, madam. I am not your whore. Just a pretty face to peddle out when you need something.”
She playfully blew him off. “Mmmhmm, whatever you say.”
“Seriously though, I thought you wanted to just enjoy the weekend. No family drama, no work…”
“Have you seen me pick up my cell phone once?”
“Leo did call earlier.”
She rolled her eyes. “Have you seen me pick up my phone for WORK, once?”
“No, I have not.”
“See, I’m being good. But, I want to give it one more try with them. If they aren’t even slightly receptive, I won’t push it.”
“Promise? Cause I’ve seen you work. I know how persistent you can be.”
“That’s when I was trying to impress you. You’re mine now. I can stop trying,” Y/N shrugged and casually looked away.
Before Jensen could throw out yet another sarcastic remark, the band interrupted his thought as they took the stage. All seven members got ready and within a minute, their instruments were in hand and they began to jam.
Right off the bat, Jensen could see why she was still in pursuit of them for the festival. Their sound was a very unique blend of Jazz, Rap and Ska, and their energy was off the charts.  The set list varied in covers and originals, one of which made the crowd scream with excitement as the opening notes of the local’s favorite Seaside Tony began to play. Jensen found himself laughing at the lyrics and tapping his feet to the music.
The crowd was singing along, and the vibe of the bar was infectious. Jensen kept stealing glances over at Y/N, and found he enjoyed watching her even more than the band and the crowd. Her eyes were as wide as her smile as she moved to the music in her chair.
Eventually she felt him watching her, and instead of calling him out on it, she leaned in closer to him. “They’re awesome, aren’t they? I love how they just command the entire place’s attention.”
“They are friggin’ fantastic! Kinda hard not to command a room with seven guys on the stage and making that level of noise.”
“I’ve seen them do it with some slower covers too. They’re just infections.”
“So are you, you know,” he said and gave her a look that said, you better know it.
“I’m serious, Jay-”
“So am I, Y/N. You could get up there right now, with nothing but a guitar and get just as much attention as these guys do. In fact, I bet you anything you could do it.”
“Yeah, well, I guess we’ll see. I’m supposed to play a set with Robbie and the guys at the festival…”
“Don’t tell me you're nervous?”
“Of course I am,” she laughed and turned her body away from the stage to face him. “I’m terrified, Jensen. Look at those guys, this is like second nature to them.”
“I’ve seen you on a stage, it's in your nature, too.”
“No, not like that. Not--” Y/N stopped herself and looked back at the stage. She didn’t know how to describe her fear so that he could understand. “It’s not that… I know I am meant to write, play and create music; to work with other musicians. I guess I’m just not yet convinced I am meant to be in the spotlight. I play smaller bars than this. To play EJ’s would have been a dream come true.”
“Yeah, so… do it. You could get up there and take this whole place over. You’ll do it at the festival, too. I know you will.”
The love and encouragement he flooded her with in his gaze was physically overwhelming. She could feel her nerves begin to fade, not completely, but enough to waylay them for the moment.
“What the hell did I do in this world to have met somebody like you? You’re not real… you can’t be.”
“Why? Because I have faith in you? Because the way you interpret music and the sound of your voice fascinates me? Baby, that’s all you. I’m just along for the ride and holding on for dear life. Because I never, ever want to be without you or the feeling you give me.”
Y/N leaned in and kissed him, letting her lips linger for a moment before pulling away. She wanted to say I love you, but the words got stuck somewhere in her throat. She’d said them to him a dozen times or more, but right then and there, all she could do was smile.
The band interrupted their moment when they announced they were taking a short break. Jensen gave Y/N a wink, and without saying anything, got up from the table. Y/N assumed he was going for another round, or maybe a chance at the bathroom before the line grew again. Y/N was lost in her own thoughts about Jensen and the festival, when she felt the presence of someone approaching. Looking up with a wide grin, thinking it was Jensen, it quickly faded into a surprise when she saw one of the guys from the band standing in front of her.
“Hey, this is probably weird but, are you (Y/N L/N)? I’m Casey… I play the trumpet in the band.” His hand reached out to hers, and as she shook it, she remembered him more clearly.
“Yes, I am, and I remember you, Casey. We spoke on the phone, twice.”
“We did?” he said, his face scrunched curiously trying to remember as he ran a hand through his shaggy brown hair.
“About the festival, in Austin later this month….”
“Hmmm…. No, I know you from the Bamboo. You sing with The Corsettes, right?”
“Yeah, I do. But you don’t remember talking to me… turning me down for the music festival in Austin?”
Casey pulled out Jensen’s seat and sat it in. “Naw dude, I have no idea. I mean, I vaguely remember one of the guys mentioning it, but he said it was all bogus.”
Y/N let out a surprised laugh. “Bogus? Naw dude,” she replied, mocking his response. “It’s very real. I’ve spent the last almost year of my life helping to plan it.”
She gave Casey the short version of the details about the festival, and could tell it was the first he was hearing it all. When she finished, he leaned back in his seat, and again ran his hand through his hair.
“Man, I’m gonna kill these guys. That sounds fucking amazing. We would have jumped at the chance to play something like that!”
“It’s not too late, I am sure we could find a place for you if you wanna talk to them about it.”
“Most definitely--”
Jensen cleared his throat, stopped Casey in mid thought. “Sorry pal, the girl and the seat are both taken.” He carefully placed the two drinks on the table and straightened his shoulders, keeping his eyes glued to the strange guy in his seat.
“Oh, my bad man! I just recognized Y/N and wanted to come say hi. Then she told me about the festival, and--” this time, Casey interrupted himself and starred at Jensen in disbelief. “Holy shit! Dude! I know you too! You’re on TV! My sister watches your show constantly!”
Casey jumped up from the seat and stretched out his hand to Jensen. Jensen’s steely expression fell and was quickly replaced by a smile. “Oh wow, that’s awesome,” he said, shaking Casey’s hand. “Tell your sister I said thank you for watching.”
“This night is crazy,” Casey laughed and shook his head as he pulled out his cell phone. “Can I get a picture with you guys?!”
“Sure man,” Jensen agreed and went to stand closer to Casey.
“You guys go for it, I’ll take the pic,” Y/N suggested, but Casey shook his head.
“Hell no, you’re in this too!” Casey waved her over, insisting, so she went.
They snapped a few pictures and Casey tucked away his phone. “I gotta get back but hang out till after our set if you can and let me have more info on that festival. If it's not too late, we are definitely in!”
Y/N agreed and as Casey started to walk away, Jensen grabbed his shoulder and said something quietly. Between the noise of the bar, and the band starting to re-enter the stage, Y/N couldn’t hear what Jensen had said. Brushing it off, Y/N picked up her fresh bottle of beer Jensen brought over and waited for the band to start up again.
They played another hour long set, and the crowd’s energy didn’t dissipate once. Playing all the fan favorites, they slipped in a few covers before the set wound down. After their original Smuggling Snails, Casey approached the main microphone on the stage, as the other front men of 7Minds took a few steps back out of the spotlight.
“Thank you guys so much for always coming out to jam with us, sing along and get sloppy ass drunk while doing it! Before we close tonight though, I want to invite a local fan favorite to join us up here. Most of you guys have probably seen her at the Bamboo, leading those sexy ass Corsettes around, or strumming her guitar down at the Beachcomber on Sunday nights. Either way, tonight, she belongs to us and EJ’s Tap House! Y/N L/N, get your man and get your ass up here!”
Y/N’s stomach dropped and when she looked over at Jensen, he was grinning ear to ear.
“Did you do this?” she asked, her face wrought with shock. “When you talked to him before he left, did you tell him to do this?”
“No ma’am,” he said, shaking his head, then holding up his infamous Boy Scout salute. “Scout’s Honor.”
From the stage, Casey’s voice filled the sound system thru the bar, “Come on, Y/N! Show these people what they’re hometown girl can do!”
Y/N smiled at him nervously, and slowly began to stand up. “You’re coming with me,” she muttered as she reluctantly moved closer to the stage. The crowd was starting to send her cheers of encouragement, which helped move her feet along.
Jensen was right at her side. When they got on the stage, all but one member of the band stepped out of sight, leaving only the acoustic guitar player ready to accompany them. As Y/N and Jensen climbed the short staircase to the stage, the guitar player whispered, “What do you guys wanna do?”
Y/N went blank, all the songs, duets in particular, she and Jensen had discussed singing were completely vacated from her head. But Jensen didn’t hesitate, he leaned in and whispered to the man, Shallow. Yes, they had discussed it, but they hadn’t practiced that one together yet. Knowing exactly where her thoughts were headed, Jensen gave her hand a quick squeeze as he walked behind her to approach the second mic.
The guitar player began to strum the first few notes of the song, and the crowd picked up on the song immediately. Most of the women in the place responded with excited hoots and hollers. Y/N gave Jensen a nervous glance, and as the music rounded to his beginning lyrics, he gave her a little wink and began to sing.
“Tell me somethin', girl
Are you happy in this modern world?
Or do you need more?
Is there somethin' else you're searchin' for?
I'm falling
In all the good times I find myself
Longin' for change
And in the bad times I fear myself...”
Y/N loved the sound of his voice, and any time she heard it, she found herself getting lost in his full, rich tone with the gritty edges. She was so mesmerized by him singing those few lines, the nerves the crowd gave her dissipated almost immediately. Being on stage, singing next to him, gave her an immediate bout of confidence she didn’t know was possible.
The acoustic guitar came around to her first lines, and when she began to sing, she closed her eyes and just let Jensen’s presence guide her.
“Tell me something, boy
Aren't you tired tryin' to fill that void?
Or do you need more?
Ain't it hard keeping it so hardcore?
I'm falling
In all the good times I find myself
Longing for a change
And in the bad times I fear myself”
As she sang the words, it was as if she was hearing them for the first time. The words, so perfectly suited for her and her life… always fearful, afraid of change, yet longing for adventure. The way her life was, to the way her life is… she felt her stomach surge with passion, and the heat from the lights fell warm on her skin. The melody of the guitar began to swell, and so did her voice.
“I'm off the deep end, watch as I dive in
I'll never meet the ground
Crash through the surface, where they can't hurt us
We're far from the shallow now”
When Jensen’s voice reconnected with hers for the chorus, they blended together flawlessly. The harmony was so perfect, she couldn’t help but smile and look over at him. Their eyes locked as they sang...
“In the shallow, shallow
In the shallow, shallow
In the shallow, shallow
We’re far from the shallow now...”
He backed off from the microphone again, letting her carry the song to the bridge. Her voice carrying over the crowd and completely captivating them into near silence. Until the very end, Y/N let herself go and felt the words and the music surging through her.
“Oh. oohhhh, oh, ohhhh, ohhhhhhhhh….
Ohhh Oh, oohh oohhhhhhhhhhhh….
I'm off the deep end, watch as I dive in
I'll never meet the ground
Crash through the surface, where they can't hurt us
We're far from the shallow now”
One more time, Jensen joined her to carry the song to the end. When they finished, they were again looking at each other. The roar of the bar crowd was deafening and Y/N couldn’t stop herself from throwing her arms around Jensen’s neck and hugging him with every ounce of adrenaline that was coursing through her veins.
As he held her close, his lips were gentle against her ears. “They love you Trix, and so do I.”

10. What are you craving right now? Cheeseburger and onion rings.
11. Turn ons? Um...intelligence, wit, shoulders, eyes, ginger beards.
12. Turn offs? Arrogance, chauvinism, people who don’t like cats.

14. When was the last time you cried? Why? I was doing a concert in my living room last night, as I often do, and some of the songs got me a little emosh.
15. If you could be a superhero, who would you want to be? Black Widow or Loki.

I’m almost finished rereading every Desus fic on AO3 for the second time (some more than two but I mean going through literally every page). One of my cats is sitting above my head and purring really loudly and another is sitting to my left snoring.
34. Ever had a near death experience? If so, what happened? Got caught driving in a blizzard. Spun off the road several times, including once off of an on-ramp. Like do not enter, wrong direction. If I hadn’t made it to the hotel right next to the on-ramp I really would’ve been fucked.

43. Whom do you admire and why? My husband because he does crazy shit like work 35 days in a row when he’s only supposed to work 14 just to make sure all our bills are paid and we have savings because I’m too crippled to work at all right now.
44. What was your favorite bedtime story as a child? I didn’t get bedtime stories.

46. If you could choose the future profession of your son or daughter, would you? No. I can’t even choose my own profession.
47. What was your best experience on drugs or alcohol? Idk about best but my most recent one was pretty good. I hadn’t had alcohol in over a year but a few weeks ago my sister turned 21 and we had family game night at my parents’ house so I got a little buzzed on some grapefruit White Claws and for about four hours I wasn’t in physical pain. Plus we all had a really good time just hanging out and playing games and everybody got along. That has 100% never happened in my family before. Also the last time I smoked weed, which was MANY years ago, like 6 or 7, it had the same effect and reduced my joint pain.

Jensen's POV:
Jensen pulled his baseball cap down lower over his face to hide his features from unsuspecting passing customers, his eyes glued on the door, as he ideally ran his finger over the rim of his coffee that had gone virtually untouched in front of him as he sat in the back booth at the little coffee shop in Dallas that he quite honestly couldn’t even remember the name of.
Jessie had said she'd meet him here over an hour ago, now she was late, and he was quickly losing his patients.
The coffee shop was already filling again for the second time since Jensen had taken his seat. He watched the people closely, afraid at any moment someone was going to figure out who he was and blow his cover.
He'd gotten pretty good at hiding mind you, he'd been doing it since he was roughly eighteen years old, so he'd learned a few tricks to keep people kind of at bay when he really didn't want them around, or want to be noticed.
He pulled his phone from his pocket and shot Jessie the third text of the morning.
"Where the fuck are you?! I've been waiting for you for over an hour!"
Sitting the phone back down on the counter he waited for her reply, but no response. There were even more people filtering in and out of the coffee shop now, she must not be coming. It's probably for the best if he just leaves, and gets her to meet him somewhere else later. The longer he sat there, the longer he ran the risk of someone he knew walking in, or some fan figuring out who he was.
He’d just shoved the phone back down deep in his front pocket and was about to pick up his coffee and head towards the door when the shrill ding announcing someone’s entrance into the little shop made him look up, finally she was here.
Jensen watched her as she made her approach with a cold, dead look he usually reserved for his ex-wife. She looked at him completely unfazed by his sour temper as she made her way closer, and flopped down at the little table across from him.
“What took you so fucking long?" Jensen almost snarled.
"Fuck you asshole, I can walk out of her right now, and without me, you have zero chance with Y/N again? So what's your choice? You can either start treating me with some respect, or you can figure out how to get her to talk to your sorry ass all by yourself? Dealer's choice." she said coldly, looking at him like he was the most disgusting thing she'd ever laid eyes on.
"Fine, fine!" Jensen said, throwing his hands up in frustration and then glaring at her like if he could get away with it, and she wasn't a girl, he'd probably punch her in the face.
Another few moments or so silence passed with the two of them glaring at each other while Jensen's blood pressure simmered back down to a normal rate before he dared to speak again.
"So, have you talked her into going out again?" Jensen said, taking a deep breath to steady himself.
"No."
"Well, then why the fuck did you say you wanted to talk to me! If you don't have information for me on where she's going to be then you're not...."
"Jensen!"
"Ssshhhh!! Someone will recognize me!!"
"Ugh!! I'll be so glad when the two of you kiss and makeup so I don't have to look at you anymore!"
"Feelings mutual, sweetheart!"
About that time Jessie's phone started to ring, effectively ending the argument between them. Looking down she saw it was Sherry and quickly silenced it. Jessie was already late for work, and if she kept this up she was going to get fired, and also caught in the middle of this drama, which is exactly what she had told Jensen she didn’t want to happen when he’d messaged her, asking for her help in fixing his fuck up.
"Look, let's just get this over with, I don't want people to know I'm still in Dallas, they'll start to ask questions," Jensen said with a huff of frustration, sinking lower into the booth seat.
"Fine, Y/n will not leave her apartment again, not with us or with anyone else. She's been locked in her apartment since the night we dropped her off when we left the bar, she's been working from home, she hasn't left the house at all. It's almost like she's slipped into some sort of depression. I don't think we're going to get her to go out with us again, so we might have to take a different approach." Jessie said, staring coldly at that man sitting across from her.
"Okay, then what do you suggest we do? " Jensen said, taking his hat off and carding his hands through his soft hair in frustration before putting the cap back in place harshly.
Your POV:
It had been three weeks since you saw Jensen at the bar that night. It had set you back worse than you thought it ever could. Every time you closed your eyes all you could see was his face. You'd even been dreaming of him more than you had in the last three years. It wasn't healthy to say the least, and you were seriously starting to wonder if you had just dreamed it up, and had that nervous breakdown your therapist had warned you about.
All the progress you had made over the years in getting over him had seemed to spiral, and it had taken you three days to even get out of the bed once you stumbled through the apartment door.
There was no doubt in your mind that after all these years you were still in love with this man, even though you were sure he'd ever loved you. Still, the heart wants what the heart wants.
Over and over again you kicked yourself over the past three weeks for not accepting his offer to just talk. That damn ring when you saw it on his hand was like being nailed in the gut, by a ball pin hammer, just as hard as he could swing it.
He'd been able to do what you couldn't. He'd been able to move on, he'd been able to find love, and here you were alone.
You hated him, but you loved him. To you that made no sense whatsoever, but there it was.
You hated him for abandoning you all those years ago, you hated him for pushing you away, when all you'd ever done was love him, you hated him for giving up on you.
You loved him because it was something you just couldn't control. The way he smiled, those beautiful jade-colored eyes that always seemed to dance with an air of mischief that made your knees weak. You could still remember his scent, the way his strong arms felt when they wrapped around you all those years ago. You loved him because just with one smile he made your heart feel like it could leap out of your chest and fly around the room, you loved him, and for a lot of reasons, you didn't even know why still you did.
There were no denying things had changed in him. Even in the dim light of the bar, you could see that boy you fell in love with in Dallas was long gone, and a man had taken his place. The deep lines around his eyes, the way he carried himself, strong, confident. His voice was much deeper than it was back then, and even though his eyes were the same, the grey in his beard told you the boy he was back then was long gone, and really, you were in love with someone you didn’t even know anymore. He was a far cry from the boy that had taken your virginity all those years ago.
He’d lived, and you hadn’t, simple as that.
He chose money, fame, and fortune over you. You would have given him everything, a family, a warm home to come home to.
Then again, you guessed he'd found someone to do that for him, so again that rendered you useless.
Supernatural had been playing on your TV through Netflix for days. You just couldn’t stop watching it, and you couldn't stop kicking yourself. You couldn't stop thinking about him, and more than anything, you couldn't fill the hole that was in your chest, one that had almost closed, and was just a piece of you that was missing, now was ripped open and bleeding, and there was no way to make it go away.
Thank God your job allowed you to work from home. You just could do it. You couldn't deal with people, not in person, you couldn't go pretty yourself up and act like everything was fine, because it wasn't fine, and you didn't feel pretty.
You weren't pretty enough for Jensen all those years ago, and you're not enough for him now, so why even try?
A loud knock on the door disturbed you from your self-loathing.
It was probably Sherry or Jessie. They were just worried about you, you know that, but you just hadn't been able to face them. The way you just completely broke down in the Uber on the way home was just embarrassing, and the fact that you couldn’t seem to pick yourself back up again was borderline humiliating on a whole different level.
Now apparently they'd given up on calling you and had just decided to show up. Well, you were a little impressed it had taken them this long actually.
"Go away! I don't feel like talking yet."
Nothing, just another pounding knock on the door in response.
After sitting there a moment in confusion, you remembered Sherry knew where the spare key was, so it couldn’t be them. Getting up slowly you made your way to the door, pulling it open you looked through the crack and who you saw nearly knocked you on your ass.
"JENSEN!" you half yell, shocked to see that beautiful face on the other side of the door, and for just a moment you thought you were hallucinating.
"Hey, can I come in or you just going to make me stand out in the hallway?" he said, looking around like he was afraid you were going to slam the door shut in his face.
To be completely honest you thought about it, you just couldn't deal with the guilt and the “what ifs” this time if you did like you'd been dealing with for the past three weeks.
Pulling the door shut just enough to remove the chain lock that was placed on the door you open it, stepping back and letting him into your apartment.
When you shut and relocked the door you turned around to find him staring at you, a look of concern painted over his God-like face as his eyes raked over you.
You walk around him and head for the TV, turning it off before he could see himself walking with a flashlight across the screen.
"What are you doing here Jensen?" you ask him, sitting down on the couch to keep your legs from falling out from under you. You didn't realize how weak he still made you, even after all these years.
"I wanted to see you, to talk to you."
"Why? You said all you had to say to me 21 years ago." you watched as he visibly flinched at your sharp words.
"Y/n, I'm sorry, I was young and stupid, I should have never let you go, I should have never let you walk away from me, I've regretted it since you have. I just haven't been man enough to tell you..."
Standing up you cross the floor and get right in his face. A boldness you didn't have just five minutes ago springing out of nowhere, and anger burns deep, deep down in your belly.
"Don’t come at me with your lies Jensen!” you scream at him.
Bringing your hand up you slap him hard across the face before you could stop yourself. Not able to even control your own actions anymore, all you could see was red.
Your own pulse quickened in your ears as your slap staggered him back against the bar, and his hand flew up to the side of his face that was quickly turning red. You didn’t care, at that moment you didn’t even see it, all you could see was years, and years of hurt, and rejection.
“You’ve suffered so much huh?! With your perfect little wife, and kids that live in a fucking mansion on the lake in Austin! You really just expect to walk back into my life, say your sorry, and all the years of hurt would just magically go away? Fuck you!
You raised your hand to slap him again, but this time he caught it with his left hand, standing to tower over you he backed you against the wall, pinning you there with his solid form, using his sheer size and body weight to hold you there and keep you from hitting him again.
Through all the anger, through all the hurt, through the blinding tears that were now rolling down your face, there were two things you registered. First was the overwhelming feeling of his body weight pressing you, grounding you, and by some miracle, pulling you back down from your fit of rage his apology had triggered.
The second and most important thing was that his wedding band was gone.
All your strength at that moment was gone.  The adrenaline crash hit you hard, and your knees buckled, a loud ringing taking the place of your pounding pulse in your ears, and your vision going white at the edges.
Jensen reached down and scooped you up into his arms before you could hit the floor, pulling you tight to his chest and bringing you over to the couch. Sitting down this you wrapped his arms, cradled in his lap like a small child.
It was hard to breathe as the tears flowed down your face now, your chest felt so tight that you were almost certain you were breathing through a straw, even though your breath was coming in pants, the overwhelming feeling of passing out made your head spin, and your body began to shake.
Jensen shushed you over and over again, running his fingers through your hair, which gave you something else to focus on. “Breath for me Y/n, come one breathe with me.”
You focused on the steady rise, and fall of his chest against you, the scent of his cologne, the steady brush of his hand through your hair, and before long you were able to focus enough to take a breath.
“That’s it, baby girl, fuck I’m so sorry sweetheart, this is all my fault.”
This was a result of twenty-one years of hurt, hurt that he caused, and he knew it.
When you'd finally calmed down he put a finger under your chin and forced you to look up at him.
"I'm so, so sorry that I hurt you, I'm sorry that I did this to you, I'm sorry that I was a fucking coward, I was afraid to find you, afraid to admit I was wrong, I'm sorry it took me twenty-one years to get enough balls to apologize to you. I know that’s enough, but I plan to stick around and do everything I can to make this up to you. I'm not married anymore. I didn't love her, I tried to, I really did, but I just couldn't, So I did the right thing, and I let her go so she could go and find someone that can make her happy."
You sat there staring at him like he'd popped out a third head. You wanted to pinch yourself to see if you were dreaming, or if you were dead.
"So I came here to find you, the one person that has ever really made me happy. Your parents wouldn't tell me where you were, so I found your friend Jessie, she was going to get you to come to the bar that night so I could try and talk to you. I'm sorry about that too. I didn't know I'd hurt you this way. If I did I wouldn't have sprung myself on you."
Crawling off of his lap and sitting down on the couch next to him you tried to make sense of what he was telling you.
"So what do you want from me? After all these years, what do you want from me now?"
You tried to understand, but you just couldn’t. Hell if you weren’t good enough all those years ago to make him want you, why the hell did he think you would be enough now?
Moving to the floor, Jensen got down on his knees in front of you, grabbing your hands in his. He looked like it took all the strength he had not to start crying himself, which only made more tears flow from you as you watched him bite down on his lower lips for a moment before he spoke.
"I want a second chance with you, I know I have no right to ask you for one, and you have every right to tell me to fuck off, and if you do I'll leave, and I'll never come back If that's really what you want, but sweetheart please, please give me a chance to fix this. Let me fix what I broke all those years ago."
His thumb made little circles on the back of your hand, and he broke eye contact with you, looking down at the floor as he waiting for you to tell him to go fuck himself.
All those years you'd prayed he'd come back. All those years you'd dreamed he wanted you again. Here he was, and if you didn't give him another chance now, he was gone for good, and that would be all, you'd die right here, you'd never be able to recover.
Jensen took a shaky breath drawing you back to the present.
"Please Y/N, say something?"
Putting your hands on either side of his face you did the only thing your brain would let you do. You pulled him to you, crashing your lips to his.
At first, he sat there shocked, but he caught up quickly though. Getting off his knees he crawled his large frame over yours, laying you both back down on the couch you were sitting on, holding his weight on you just enough to make you feel safe, for the first time in a long time.
"So I guess that means yes???" he said, lifting a perfect eyebrow and looking at you with the cutest little expression on his face, his eye crinkles showing just enough to make your heart melt.
"Yeah, but you got a shit ton of makeup to do Ackles," you tell him through tears, smacking him on his solid chest playfully.
"Well darlin’, let me start now," he said, bringing his lips softly back to yours before standing and dragging you with him, pulling you towards the open door of your bedroom.
Your mind worked on autopilot as he backed you into the room, closing the door with his large foot, and like jolts of electricity being shocked to a still heart, every lingering touch of his hands trailing your body, and every passionate kiss that made you breathless seemed to wake you up again.
This wasn’t some quickie in the back of his truck in the middle of the wood. There was no rush to this, there was no hurry in the way he lowered your body on the bed, and crawled his way over every inch of skin, leaving a trail of kisses he went.
There was no uncertainty in the way he looked into your eye as he pressed himself slowly into you, rocking slow and deep, stretching you, in the most intimate way possible, breathing life back into you as his lips found yours again in a slow lazy kiss, as he continued to work you both higher in an almost painfully slow pace.
This wasn’t going to fix it all together, twenty-one years was a lot of time, and there was a lot of damage, to the both of you, but the way his body moved inside of yours, the promise that he made not only with his words, but with his body, and with his soul that he’d never leave you, never hurt you again, it brought you back in a way that you thought was long dead to you.
When your release came, and he held you close to him, your name falling from his lips as he spilled himself deep inside of you, you felt like your heart really started to beat for the first time.
There were still a lot of unanswered questions, and there were some things you just never wanted to know. Right now as he pulled you close to him, wrapping his arms around, and caging your body close to him, promising to never let you go again would be enough.
Not everyone gets the second chance the two of you were having now, and this time you would follow him to the ends of the earth if that’s what it took, because he was the other half of your heart, and it just didn’t beat if he wasn’t there.
Jessie's POV:
“I can’t believe you sent him here!” Sherry hissed as Jessie dug around for the spare key to your apartment.
It had been hours since she had sent Jensen here to try and talk to you, and they had heard nothing. Then when Jessie let it slip on her lunch break what had been going on with Jensen and herself over the past couple of weeks, Sherry had blown her top, and insisted on coming to check on them.
“Would you shut up! I’m sure they’re fine!” Jessie hissed back, finding the key and turning the knob slowly.
The apartment was quiet as the two women pushed the door open, and closed it silently behind them.
“If he’s done something to hurt her I swear to God!” Sherry hissed again, making her way over to where Jessie was standing by the bar, staring through a crack in Y/N’s bedroom door.
She pointed towards it, and Sherry silently made her way to peek inside, seeing Jensen and Y/N curled into one another sound asleep, clothes strewn all over the floor, and long forgotten. Sherry smiled to herself as he turned around and looked back at Jessie, who was leaning against the bar, grinning like she’d won the war, and that’s all that mattered.
“Come on, let’s get out of here, I think those two are gonna be just fine.” She said, leading Sherry towards the door, and closing the door to the apparent behind them. Leaving the world outside unknowing, while two hearts did what it took to heal.

Previous PART 3
Saturday was always the real test of your endurance. The con went non-stop, all day. Your wake-up call came far too quickly. Taking significant effort to actually pick up the phone, you grudgingly answered.
“’ello?” you answered.
“Get your ass up, bitch!” It was Briana.
Eyes still closed, you smiled, “You talk so sweet to me.”
“Meet me at the gym in 20, got it?” she ordered.
“Ma’am, yes ma’am,” you answered. Briana was your con work-out partner. You helped each other keep to your workouts and routines. The jetlag could be terrible and, for some reason, working out helped to combat the effects.
Seventeen minutes later, you were walking into the gym and Briana was already there, waiting for you.
“You better tell me everything!” she said as soon as she saw you.
“Sure you wanna know?” you teased.
“Ugh, gross,” she got on the treadmill. “A little discretion, please.”
“I don’t know what happened. I still can’t believe it was real. I got on the elevator and he was there. Maybe he was coming to get me? He asked me to be his date for the night,” you said, Briana ‘awed’ and you started your treadmill. “I told him we could just do how we always do, ya know? Go as friends. He said we could do that if that was what I wanted, but he wanted it to be a date.” Briana was listening intently. “I agreed, and you saw us together. He held my hand and walked me back to my room. I’d teased him about a proper courtship, but I meant it, too… So,” your cheeks flushed remembering, “he kissed me goodnight. Said he’d better go and that he’d see me later.”
“Oh my god, (Y|N)!” she squealed. “Did he make your toes curl? Did he light up your vag? Oh my god! You guys are finally together!”
You knew your face was bright red, but if anyone asked, you were going to blame it on the treadmill. Briana was still walking and looking at you, waiting for you to answer her questions.
“Oh god, B…” you could barely keep the giggles away, “he’s such a good kisser. Not gonna lie, my vag approved.”
“Holy shit, babe!” she said. “You gonna make him wait? Hell, it’s Rich, make him wait.”
“I promised myself I wasn’t going to chase men anymore, so when the time is right, it’ll happen.”
“Do us all a favor, just keep traveling with us. It’ll happen. That man has been a miserable piece of shit without you.”
You threw a look of disbelief at her.
“I’m not even exaggerating. Sad-sack city,” she went on. “It’s not just him though. We always miss the people that can’t come or whatever.”
Briana didn’t like to get gushy about feelings and neither did you. You knew what she meant, you’d missed them all, too.
“I got to hang out with Gil and Matt a few times, so it wasn’t all bad. I missed my Supernatural loves, though. …Matt and Gil sure are dirty fuckers. God, I love you guys.”
“Good, cuz you’re stuck with us, especially if you and Dick are a thing,” she winked at you. “I’ll talk to the powers that be if I have to. So, did you guys make plans for later? Are you going to dinner with us before SNS?”
“Yeah, I said he could take me to dinner, just us, and we could meet everyone later for drinks,” you said.
“I’m happy for you, baby,” she said sincerely. “Glad you’re back, too.”
If you didn’t go get Rich for brunch, he’d probably be late and have to rush to get something to eat. To spare Rob a little torment that Rich would surely inflict, you text him that you were on your way to Rich’s room to get him moving.
“You owe me two months, but I forgive you. See you soon,” he text back. Poor guy, they could be relentless on each other.
Standing outside Rich’s door, you banged on it as hard as you could and quickly stepped to the side, so he couldn’t see you through the peephole. There was a thump from inside the room and muffled cuss words met your ears. You banged on the door again, just as it opened.
“Who the fu…” he opened the door.
You leaned on your shoulder against the wall, snickering.
“Mornin’, sunshine,” you giggled.
He turned to see you. Clearly, he’d just rolled out of bed. His hair was a mess, he didn’t have on his glasses, and was missing a shirt. From what you could see, you were unsure if he was wearing anything at all.
“You decent?” you asked, still smiling.
“Shit,” he said disappearing inside. “Just one sec.”
You chuckled and stuck your foot in the door, waiting for his “okay.”
“Okay,” he called. As you stepped inside, he said, “How late am I?”
You looked at your watch quickly. “Not too bad,” you told him.
He was wearing a pair of shorts, which surprised you that he even had any. You’d only ever seen him wear pants. He was bustling about his room gathering clothes and toiletries, so he could get ready.
“Time for a shower?” he asked.
“Haul balls, Dick,” you told him.
He was gonna give you a hard time when he realized you’d actually gotten to him early. Rich liked to get his sleep and was a bit of a night owl, like you. Waking up earlier than was absolutely necessary was not something he liked to do. The bathroom door closed, and you heard the shower start right after.
While he was in the bathroom, you took a seat in the open desk chair and surveyed his room. The desk was filled with the chaos that was his life. It reflected how his mind worked. It never failed to amaze you how on the surface, he looked cool as a cucumber, but on the inside, his mind was working at a million miles a minute. He was constantly working and by what he had laid out, it looked like he was going to direct a Supernatural episode again soon.
The bed wasn’t a disaster, but you did note that he’d spread out overnight. You’d rousted him from his room before, but you’d never really paid much attention to the inside. Usually, when you got to his door, he was mostly ready to go.
About ten minutes later, he was out of the bathroom, nearly ready. He was fastening his watch and reached for his coat.
“You about ready, gorgeous?” he asked. “Always waiting on you.”
“I’ve been ready, ass,” you answered, getting up from your chair.
Rich opened the door for you, “Honestly, woman.”
You pointed at his chest, “So.” tap “Mouthy.” tap
He grabbed your hand and let the door close as he pulled you to him.
“Missed you,” he breathed out as his demeanor changed.
Your bodies were pressed together as he held you. Leaning back a little, your hand went to his longer strands of hair that fell behind his ear, your fingertips gliding through his hair.
He went on, “I shouldn’t have let you go.”
You were a little confused but feeling playful, “But you were being a proper gentleman.”
“I didn’t mean last night,” he clarified. “I should never have left your house.”
He was talking about leaving your house when he stayed in your guest room for a week after finding out about Jaci and Brady. How was it that he could always give you butterflies?
Your hand brushed his cheek. “It’s okay, though,” you assured him. “Things have worked out.”
It had been harder staying away from Rich as much as you had in the last year than it had been going through the divorce from Brady. Not seeing Rich between conventions, not spending all of your free time with him at the conventions…it was best for the divorce proceedings, but it had sucked, bad. Talking on the phone, when you weren’t with him, was tough, too, it wasn’t the same as going to each other’s houses to hang out. Cutting yourself off from your best friend, when you needed him most, was gut-wrenching. The last thing you wanted to do was rush him, but your impatient side wanted him to love you the way you loved him, right now. Loving him as long as you had, it was getting tiring carrying the torch on your own.
“Things would be so much better now,” he was regretful.
You smoothed back his hair again. He looked so handsome in his scruffy beard and new glasses. You’d helped him pick them out during a video chat call.
“Hey,” you said softly, “none of that. This was how it had to be. We’re here now. Our timing was always off, but we’re finally on the same track, right?”
“I guess we should go eat,” he suggested.
Brunch with your friends went as it usually did, lots of chatter, good food, and friendly ribbing on all sides. Once you’d all eaten, you had to go your separate ways and Rich made you promise that you’d come by the green room to see him whenever you could get away. You always tried, but you liked to tell your convention stories from the point of view of the spectator, which meant you were all over the place. Your convention days, like Saturday, were spent watching the panels, taking notes and pictures of the guests and interviewing convention goers. You were planning to try something different for SNS, though, and Rich had nearly discovered your plan.
The idea to surprise Rich at SNS by going out on stage to sing with everyone on the last song had come to you at your last convention. It was no big deal. You just didn’t want to embarrass yourself. You’d had dinner with Jensen after a practice session with him and Jason at Jason’s house. You knew you couldn’t carry a tune in a bucket, and if anyone could help you sing better, it was Jason and Jensen. Jensen had borrowed Jason’s car to take you out to dinner. He had to go to Vancouver the next day and needed to get back to Jason’s house, so he dropped you at Rich’s house without going inside. Rich, of course, had seen Jensen pulling out of the driveway and that had started the green monster showing up.
There was a three-hour break before the SNS and you were going to get the most out of it. You went back to your room and started picking out our clothes that you were going to wear for your date with Rich. He was going to “pick you up” from your room and from there, you didn’t know what was going to happen, but you prepared for… whatever may happen. You zipped your clothes into a garment bag for later and waited for Rich to get you.
Thankfully, you didn’t have to wait too long. Your nerves didn’t have a chance to get to you. Telling yourself that it was just a normal dinner and that there was nothing to be nervous about was actually helping, right up until you heard the knock on the door. Fairly well springing up from your spot in front of the TV, you had to make yourself slow down as you went to answer the door.
Taking a deep breath, you unlocked the door and saw your best friend smiling back at you.
“Hey gorgeous,” he grinned. “Might I take you to dinner?”
There were those damned butterflies again… “Um, yes, just let me grab my garment bag.”
“Garment bag?” he followed you just inside the door.
“Yeah, I want to wear something special tonight and I don’t want to ruin it by slopping food on it. Thought I could change in your room and we could go to the show together.”
“Oh, great. Perfect. I’ll take it. Ready?” he said.
You smiled at him. He was so wonderful, in your eyes. He spoke fast like that when he was nervous or being a smart-alec. You handed him the garment bag and took his arm once you got outside your room. He led you toward the elevator bank and pushed the ‘up’ button.
“Wouldn’t it be something if a little scout and an old man with a walker were in the elevator,” he asked.
Catching his reference, you said, “I’d be more impressed if it were Ellie and Carl. I mean, clearly, you’re Carl, but I’m definitely not Russell, though the age difference is there.”
“Ouch,” he said, feigning hurt. There was a small moment of quiet between you as you waited for the elevator to arrive. “Nah, you’re my Ellie.”
The elevator dinged, and the doors opened for you. You caught your beaming reflection in the elevator walls as he pulled you inside with him. He laid the garment bag on the floor of the elevator before pulling you to him for a kiss. Your knees felt like they might not be able to hold you up any longer as his tongue swirled with yours, lighting you up, once again. Eventually, he had to let you go.
“Wanted to do that all day,” he mumbled as he picked up the garment bag and the elevator stopped on his floor. “C’mon gorgeous.”
Still trying to recover, the doors almost closed before you came to your senses.
“Where are we going?” you asked as he led you to his room.
“By strange coincidence, we are going to chez Dick this evening,” he carded his door and opened it for you to step inside.
“Awfully presumptuous, don’t you think, Dick?” you said.
“Well, we don’t have time to go out, and I didn’t want to rush dinner. I thought we could have a nice time here,” he said.
It was then that you looked around his room and realized that it was very neat and tidy. All of his notes and computer were put away. In the middle of his suite, the table was set up with a white cloth, a small bundle of flowers in a vase, and two candles.
“Oh Rich,” your voice barely more than a whisper.
He hung your garment bag in the wardrobe that was near the bathroom and gently moved you closer to the table. He pulled out your chair for you and got you seated.
“In the interest of saving time, I took the liberty of ordering for you. I hope you don’t mind,” he said.
Who was this man? Did all men do this, or had you just won the lottery? Brady took you out to dinner, but he never did anything like this. Rich had even gotten flowers in your favorite color. Had he done that knowing or was it just luck? And he ordered for you?
“What did you order?” you asked.
“Don’t you trust me, (Y|N)?” he teased. “I think after all this time, if anyone is going to know you, it’s me.”
You couldn’t deny that. “This is all very nice, Rich. I gotta say, I’m impressed.”
The two of you talked and discussed what the set list looked like for the show until the knock at the door came from room service. Rich excused himself to get the door for the hotel staff. Your mind briefly flashed to that Kings of Con episode and a fantastic day for you on set. When the staff member took the cover off the dishes, you laughed at Rich’s choice for you. He was spot on, it was your favorite, go-to meal. You waited for him to sit back down before you dug in.
“So, how’d I do?” he wanted to know, his eyebrow cocked at you, a knowing smirk on his face.
“I think maybe you do know me,” you assented and took a bite.
After that dinner went smoothly and before you even realized, your food was gone, and Rich’s alarm to get going sounded. Rich didn’t have much to do as far as getting ready for the show. All he really did was change his shirt. You, however, grabbed the garment bag from the wardrobe and went into the bathroom to change. It didn’t take you long to get into your outfit, but you did need help. Stepping out of the bathroom, you looked for Rich to help you.
He didn’t know what he expected, but he hoped like hell that the night wouldn’t be a total disaster. He’d kissed her the night before and he couldn’t stop thinking about it. All day, he’d seen her flitting about, talking to people, taking pictures. She’d come by and give him a quick hug, not anything too out of the ordinary. All he’d wanted to do all day was to see if the kiss the night before had been a fluke. He’d taken his opportunity in the elevator and he found out that it was even better the second time around. He thought for sure that it would be weird, but it wasn’t, it was fantastic.
Just like always, dinner had been great. He’d gotten her favorite food and drink for dinner and the conversation was just as easy as it usually was. It had been a huge relief, for both of them, he suspected. He was riding pretty high as he went to change his shirt. (Y|N) was next to change and she grabbed her garment bag to head into the bathroom. He had no idea what she had in there, but when she stepped out of the bathroom there was nothing in the world that could have prepared him for what he saw. Only one time, in the ten years he’d known her, had he ever seen her in a dress, and that was on her wedding day. She stepped out of the bathroom wearing a black dress, like what Audrey Hepburn would wear. He was staring, and he didn’t care.
“Rich?” she said. “Will you button me up? I can’t reach all of the buttons.”
She went over to where he sat in one of the arm chairs, sitting on his lap, her bare back open to him.
“You’re killing me here, gorgeous,” he said, not trusting his hands to stay PG.
“Are the buttons too small?” she asked, seemingly unaware of the torture she was putting him through.
His fingertips brushed her warm skin as he fastened the buttons. What he really wanted to do was feel all of her skin, soft and warm under his touch and to let her know the sweet torture she was unleashing on him. The buttons finally done, she got up from his lap like nothing had happened. “Mother of Christ,” he thought. “This is not just a fluke.”
By the time she had put on a delicate silver necklace and earrings, he’d calmed down enough to not embarrass himself and stood up from the armchair. (Y|N) was smoothing her dress and checking herself in the mirror. Why he had never seen the way she lit up when she saw him? How had he never noticed? Maybe he had and told himself it wasn’t real. He went to stand behind her in the mirror, when she saw him there, her eyes lit up again and she smiled at his reflection.
“How do I look?” she asked.
He put his arms around her waist from behind, kissing her shoulder, “Gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous.”
She put her hands on top of his and any qualms about them being together completely melted away. He had no doubts left.
“We better get going,” he grudgingly said.
She turned and gave him a quick kiss, “I can’t wait for tonight.”

012. Stay Tuned for Danger | Mattie Jensen’s Apartment pt. 5 & Dwayne Powers’ Office
We head back to Mattie’s after all that sneaking in the Worldwide Broadcasting building, and Nancy gets a good night’s rest. Then, we call up Bess, George, and Ned. While George and Ned have very little to say, Bess gives us the idea to sneak into Dwayne’s office that night so we can see about some files on Owen Spayder. Good call, Bess... more sneaking.......
But before I do that, I wanna watch that surveillance tape!
Tumblr media
The tape shows a guy in shades and a big beard (walking suspiciously similarly to that famous Bigfoot footage) but then he comes out later on a different camera and is clean shaven. Hmmmm. Now we know what we already knew: fake facial hair was involved.
Later that night, we show up at Dwayne’s office building.
Tumblr media
It’s definitely humble.
It takes me awhile to find someone who will let me in, but Hess Grumbly has been waiting 45 minutes for a pizza and buzzes the door for me. He’ll have to wait a bit longer for that pizza.
I use my ID card to break into yet another door. Dwayne’s office is dingy and run-down. Right next to me is a jacket and fedora on a coat rack, and I spy with Nancy’s little eye something brown in the pocket.
Tumblr media
Who leaves their wallet at work like this?? Dwayne apparently.
Tumblr media
He and Mattie are definitely close. I don’t personally have a picture of anyone in my wallet, yet here they are, with Lillian and Rick conveniently cut out. Poor guy. He definitely is holding a candle.
Within the wallet is his business card and a little code written on the corner (4377-6630). Probably for something in here. The people in this game do not know how to hide their passwords.
I start looking around and find a number of interesting things. For example, I find a ticket for a musical called The Angry Man for Saturday, October 25 at 8pm. I find a paper with an article about Rick possibly leaving WWB. I even find an angry letter from Mattie’s mom about Dwayne not getting Mattie a great opportunity to talk to girls as a role model.
The real gem, though, is Dwayne’s desk.
Tumblr media
Spirit gum adhesive (for fake facial hair??) and a one way ticket to Rio de Janeiro! Suspicious as fuck.
On Dwayne’s calendar are a number of cancelled meetings. Calendars reveal so much about people in this world.
In one drawer, I find a doorknob.
Tumblr media
Now, this might seem strange and irrelevant, but it is actually very telling! Millie takes the doorknob from the prop room entrance at night, so if you’re planning on doing any sneaking in to, say, put your ID and ripped up shirt back there, you’ll need a knob of your very own. I’m onto you, Dwayne.
Tumblr media
Did I mention how ONTO YOU I AM? Pictured above is a sketch that looks eerily similar to a certain cassette tape bomb one Nancy Drew defused in Rick Arlen’s dressing room the other day. Hmm. HMMM.
Atop the desk is a fortune cookie next to a briefcase.
Tumblr media
Ev enth oughr even gesho uldbes we et jea lou sa ctsw illen dind efe at. (Even though revenge should be sweet jealous acts will end in defeat.)
That’s always true with Nancy on the case! Dwayne should heed this cookie’s advice.
I use that code from the business card on the briefcase and viola!
Tumblr media
Not pictured: a set of keys that Nancy immediately pocketed.
Pictured: an eviction notice, two letters about late bills (one over 120 days late), and a check for $5,000 dollars to Dwayne from Mattie. Dude is fuckin’ broke.
Ya hate to see it.
Now, to find a use for these keys - which never takes long. The filing cabinet is easily found, and it has info I need on Owen W. Spayder. I use the keys and find a buncha files.
Tumblr media
I, Nancy Drew, cannot resist reading not only Owen’s but also anyone else’s I know. My own file has only an empty piece of paperwork with a note that says, “Have Nancy fill out ASAP!” Sorry, Dwayne, but based on that diagram of a bomb, I don’t think you’ll be representing me from prison.
I check out Mattie’s file.
Tumblr media
Her emergency contact is her mom. She’s been in a lot of plays. And her special skills include: Elizabethan drama, dialects, aerobics, gymnastics, stage fighting, fire arms, skin diving (???????), kick boxing, ninja throwing stars, good with children and animals, kite flying, lizard wrangling.
A woman of many hats.
Next, I check out Rick’s.
Tumblr media
CANCELLED in big, red letters... Frankly, though, I can’t judge Dwayne for keeping the file. I keep files that I don’t need anymore, too.
Also apparently Rick Arlen’s real last name is Aburtuski. Lol. His emergency contact is “Doctor - What’s my mother going to do!?” and... he has a point, for once.
Finally, I look at Owen’s. There isn’t much to see. No picture. He has some credentials but they’re all crew, no acting. Not sure why he’d need an agent, then. Also? His home is on Bamboozle Street.
Tumblr media
Nice one, Dwayne. Very clever. My suspicion is that Dwayne is, in fact, Owen Spayder.
There are just a few more things to look at in Dwayne’s office. That French love letter in Mattie’s dressing room seems suspiciously similar to a book I found in Dwayne’s bookcase, with a bookmark in the French love expressions.
Tumblr media
After another final scan of the office, I feel safe heading out, having learned a shit ton honestly!
Next up, I wanna go have a chat with some people about this Owen Spayder guy.

Ginger Beard of Sex
Tumblr media
Summary: (Y/N) enjoys one of the many benefits of the hiatus season. Pairing: Jensen x Reader Warnings: Fluff/Smut Word Count: 1335 A/N: All the pictures from SPNUK Con had me thinking of Mr. Ackles glorious hiatus beard. Before I could go to sleep last night, I wrote this on my phone. As always this is unbeta so all mistakes are mine. Likes, comments and reblogs are splendid and I will love you doubly for them! Enjoy! Special Note: This is a work of FICTION and should be enjoyed as such. I mean absolutely no disrespect to the Ackles family as I truly adore and admire them. Header: The images of Jensen Ackles are NOT MINE. Here are the links to the incredible photographers who took these amazing pictures at SPNUK: TOP LEFT | TOP RIGHT | BOTTOM RIGHT
It was that time of year again. The sun was shining bright, warm breeze floating over you and the most gorgeous man in the world finally home for a few months. Being with Jensen Ackles had many perks and disadvantages. You got to travel a lot which was amazing but for 9 months of the year he would be in Vancouver shooting while you were in Austin. Sure, he came home on weekends but sometimes during the week you missed him more than words could describe. While fans would be going through withdraws during the summer hiatus you finally got to spend some time with Jensen and be a normal couple. It had been two weeks since he finished filming and he was in full hiatus mode. He got his hair cut the week he came home, he spent a lot of time in the pool or working on a few fixer upper projects around the house. However, your favorite thing about hiatus was his beard.
Since Dean Winchester never has a beard when Jensen can just be Jensen he grows it out to look different from his character. You had never been a girl who like facial hair on guys but there was something about Jensen’s beard that drove you crazy. The way it tickled your lips whenever he kissed you. Maybe it was the fact he was always running his hands over it whenever in deep thought. Whatever the reason you loved it and were constantly distracted by it. “Babe? Yo, (Y/N)!” Jensen husky voice called out to you. Shaking your head, your eyes traveled up his body. He had been working out in the back yard and stood there with sweat running down his chest and stomach. As your eyes glanced to his sun kissed face you watched as sweat rolled down his cheeks into the ginger colored hair covering his them. You smiled meeting his olive eyes, “Sorry handsome, what’s up?” He chuckled squatting in front of you. “What has got you so distracted this last week?” Your cheeks flared and you bit her lower lip. “It’s nothing. Just enjoying watching you around the house.” He eyed you suspiciously. “Uh-huh. Jared and Gen invited us over for dinner. We don’t have plans or anything?” He asked as you shook your head. You admired him as he stood up walking back over where his phone and shirt were lying.
Dinner with the Padalecki’s was always entertaining. Their two sons were adorable but a hand full especially with Jared and Jensen encouraging them. You were holding their daughter as Thomas jumped onto Jensen’s lap. “Uncle Jensen, why do you and Daddy have hair in your faces?” Thomas asked as he touched Jensen’s beard. “Well buddy, during the summer we like to look different from the way we look the rest of the year. Do you not like it?” Thomas shrugged scrunching his nose. “You know Aunt (Y/N) likes it because it tickles her like this.” Jensen rubbed his cheek against Thomas’s face as he began to giggle. Seeing Jensen with the boys and holding Odette had your mind drifting to having little ones of your own. It was late by the time you and Jensen left the Padalecki’s house. You rested your head against the seat and was absentmindedly running your hand up into Jensen’s hair. He had his hand resting on your bare thigh drumming his fingers to the music. You brought your hand down running the back of your fingers against his beard. “Will you scratch under my chin?” He asked as you snickered. Gently, you scratched under his chin and you could feel the vibrations of the satisfying moan escaping his lips as his hand gripped your thigh tighter. “Thanks babe.” You let your fingers linger a moment longer before placing your hand on top of his on your leg.
Once inside your home exhaustion from the evening over took you both falling into bed. That night was nothing but pleasant dreams about Jensen and his ginger beard. You were in the midst of a passionate dream when you felt Jensen shift against you. “Jay...?” You muttered as you felt him nuzzle against your neck. “You were moaning in your sleep.” He whispered his hot breath against your skin instantly waking you fully. His lips lazily kissed your neck as he dragged his furry chin down to your collarbone. “Sorry I woke you up.” He nipped at your neck, “Don’t be. I learned what has got you all distracted lately.” Jensen hovered over you his hips pinning you to the mattress. “Hmm, what is that?” You asked as he slowly rolled his hips against you. “Apparently, my ginger beard of sex has got you all in a tizzy.” You groaned embarrassingly as he chuckled. “You caught me. I have been fantasizing about that damn beard all week.” A wicked smile came over his face, “Tell me exactly what you fantasize about.” You look up into his lust filled eyes and knew what game he was playing.
“Well I fantasize about you rubbing it against my breasts.” Jensen pulled your shirt over your bare breasts and removed his head from side to side against them. His facial hair feeling rough against your smooth skin. He started to leave open mouth kisses across them until his warm mouth covered your nipple. You sighed as he gently sucked and nibbled it. “Then what pretty girl?” Taking a deep breath to clear your foggy brain, “I fantasize about you rubbing it against the inside of my thighs as you make your way to... ohhh.” you trailed off as Jensen had pulled your panties down tossing them to the side. His rough hands parting your legs and his lips kissing the inside of your thigh. The further down he went the more his beard tickled you and could not help the fit of giggles you were having. “Giggles?” You looked down at him nodding.
He ran a finger over your folds as you let out a deep moan. “That’s better. No more giggles.” He said against your leg as his thumb was now rubbing small, slow circles against your mound. “Mmm... Jensen...” you said leaning your head back into your pillow. “You know I love it when you’re all clean shaven down here. Makes me want to stay down here for hours just licking and tasting you.” Your groaned as you felt his hot breath against you. “Jensen!” You cried out as he took one slow swipe of your lips with his tongue. You felt him smile against you and his beard was tickling the most sensitive area you had. You looked down seeing Jensen was over his little game and your hands went into his hair as ran his tongue over you again. His hands spread your legs wider as he began to suck on your clit. “Fuck!” You yelled as you felt the pressure in the pit of your stomach building.
His tongue worked you over making you pant now at how close you were. “God Jensen... I’m about to...” He thrusted two fingers inside you quickly pumping them in and out and your orgasm flooded every bit of your body. You were trembling as he licked you clean and then looked up at you with the biggest smile on his face. You groaned looking down at him with your juices glistening his beard and you felt your walls tighten. “What?” He asked as he climbed over you. You ran your hands over his slick facial hair and then kissed him roughly. “Damn I love your hiatus beard! Now will you get naked and fuck me properly because this beard is really doing it for me.” Jensen started laughing as he stood up quickly removing his boxers. “If I knew that then I would have asked for Dean to have a beard a long time ago.” You groaned as the ginger beard of sex gave you everything you had dreamed of and more.

Craving You --Chapter 4
Summary;  What happens when you work for a company that suddenly changed the rules on you, and you had no idea about it? Things change all the time and sometimes changes lead to a good thing. But sometimes, it can lead to trouble.
A/N: Here is chapter 4 of Craving you, remember this is an AU where Jensen is single, Please no hate on Danneel or JJ as they are amazing people, and who i wish to meet someday. My work is to no be posted on any other sites without my permission or my doing. I will post chapter one on Archives of our own tonight. I have to give  a MAJOR shout out to the following people, Lee @wheresthekillswitch, and @writersaredreamers for their editing and encouragement to keep going on. for @impalaimagining for her aesthetic she made for me, @secretlyfurrydragon for her support as well. And for all you writers and readers who inspire me to keep going on. THANK YOU EVERYONE!!!
Warnings:” mentions of panic attack, a little fluff i’m still learning,
Tumblr media
After everyone had gotten their seat belts on, and the flight attendant checked the overhead bins, the plane starts to push back. I swallow around the lump in my throat, I hate flying and by that I mean it scares me to death. The take offs and landings get me the most, but I really hate flying in altogether. When I looked over at Jensen, he had already taken a stack of papers from his bag and began looking it them. He is so handsome, he seemed so content as he gazed at the pages before him, his concentration never breaking as he examines the words, one by one. The curve of his jawline nothing short perfection, day old stubble covered his chin, and my fingertips itching to feel the scruff. Hell, just thinking about what it would feel like made me shift in my seat. Something about cute guys with stubble just gets me going every time. If he had a full on beard, I could probably die happy right where I sat.
The veins in his neck flex and contract when he bites down on his bottom lip. Lord have mercy on my soul. His hair appears to be product free, but it still holds in place, perfect fucker. I can tell he has a habit of biting his bottom lip, because just watching him for the last few minutes, he’s done it three times. And his eyes, god, those candy apple green soft eyes that make me melt when I look at him. Yup, there goes my poor heart. Who can really blame me? I mean the man is sexy as hell, dresses like he walked right out of GQ magazine, smells like heaven on earth, and makes chewing on a pen cap look sexy.
Sex on a stick’ is what my friend Jo would call it. She would know, because she’s marrying a hottie herself. Nothing like that could ever happen to me, so I'll just keep dreaming . Nothing wrong with that, right?
His brow furrowed I guess he's going over some important paperwork for whatever he does for works, which he still hasn’t told me about, but I’m sure he will in time. A flight attendant went over the safety rules and regulations, drawing his and my attention. The revving of the plane’s engines rapidly increase, my heart rate with them. Jensen must have sensed my hesitation, because he turns my direction.
“{Y/N}, you ok?” he asks, leaning towards me and looking into my eyes as he places a hand on mine. I nervously shake my head up and down,
“Y- y- yeah, I- I think so.” I know I must look like a deer in headlights, and I feel a cold sweat breakout on my face almost instantly. My knuckles turn white as I clenched the armrest as if my life depended on it.
His face showed his concern knowing now that I’m not ok. He turns sideways in his seat the best he can anyway with his seat belt on. The flight attendant comes over to us, but he tells her it’s okay, he’s got it. He takes my hand completely into his and covers it with his other. “{Y/N}, look at me,” his voice echoes in my head. “{Y/N}, you’re going to be okay. I’m here with you, and nothing bad is going to happen, okay?” His voice is so gentle, soothing and reverberating inside my head as he talked to me.
But his words don't take root, I try to hang onto the words, but it wasn't helping. I’m freaking out. My heart rate goes up as the plane increases speed while we taxi down the runway. This panic attack caught me by surprise, I thought I wouldn’t feel anything and be fine. But I began to feel wave after wave of fear and my stomach gives out on me. I can hear my heart pounding so loudly in my ears that I think it will come out of my chest. I became so afraid that I could no longer catch my breath. What’s happening to me? Am I having a heart attack? Am I dying? I feel Jensen’s hands on mine with his thumb circling the top of my hand. What possessed me to go to Texas? I knew I hated flying, but driving would’ve taken forever and truly, I didn’t want to miss this weekend.
Jensen takes one of his hands and places it on my left cheek; the warmth of his hand helps me open my eyes. I see his beautiful face softly smiling at me with sincerity. I shake my head to let him know I’m calming down regardless of the truth. Dammit, the pit of my stomach feels like a coil tied in knots and won’t let up. I'm doing all I can to not throw up, that would be the most embarrassing moment of my life . Please lord don't let me throw up in front of this amazing, sweetheart of a man.
I manage a smile. “Thank you,” my voice is scratchy and almost hoarse . “I’m sorry you had to see that I swear it's never been this bad.”
“Hey, it’s ok. I’m glad I was able to help you through it.” He was running his thumb back and forth across the top of my hand, somehow it was soothing.
“It’s mostly the takeoffs and landings that I hate the most, everything else in between is okay.” I blinked my eyes a couple of times in an effort to hold back the tears that threatened to make this moment even more embarrassing.
“I hear ya, I hate those too. I fly a lot for work and it gets old, but it’s still a new feeling every time, so I know how you feel.” He winks at me.
After the flight attendant has been cleared to walk the aisles, she comes over to me and hands me a glass of water. “You okay Sweetie?” I give her a nod as I drink the water, the coolness of it exactly what I needed to calm the burn.
“I am, thank you. I thought that I wouldn’t be freaked out, but I’m okay. Thanks to him.” I smile over at Jensen who is still holding my hand. The attendant walked back to the front to start getting  the cart ready for the in flight service and whatever else she has to do.
I turn to Jensen and smile at him. “Thank you so much, that caught me by surprise, I’m normally not that bad.” I place my left hand on my stomach to calm my uneasiness, it's still a close call as to whether or not I would need use of a sick bag.
“I’m glad I was able to help you through that, have you eaten? Maybe that could be the reason your stomach is unsettled,” he states with a worried look.
“Come to think about it, no I haven’t. It’s been a fast paced day today, with the meeting and sudden packing, I just haven’t had the time to really catch my breath.”
“When they pass out the meals you should eat so that you’ll have something in your stomach.” His face still showed concern for me, why I have no idea. Compared to him I'm a nobody, hmmm maybe he's just this nice to everyone. I nod my head in agreement, it’s nice knowing that someone I’ve met only hours ago is so caring in a time like this. I mean honestly, I'm a 23 year old single female stuck up to my eyeballs in debt, I probably eat more carbs than I should and the treadmill and I have never really seen eye to eye. I've been told my hair color matches my skin tone well, but I don't know if I can trust the source of the compliment. It's not like I planned for my life to be this way, and I'm doing my best to change it, it's just sometimes the change is slower than I'd like. I'm sure Jensen is just being nice because we happen to be in the same place at the same time. The thought makes me a little sad, I let out sigh. But for him I smile, “Thank you for coming to my rescue twice in one day, you’re definitely a knight in shining armor.”
He chuckles with a smile that didn't quite reach his eyes, the crow feet on each side standing out as well as a set of dimples. “Where’s my white horse when I need it?” he responds.
I face palmed as I  laughed, “Sometimes, a white horse is not needed when you are the prince.”  Wait did I say that out loud? Oh gosh, he must think I’m a crazy deranged lady or something equally bad.
He turns to face me again, this time without his seat belt on and took my hand back in his. “Then I’m at your service Princess {Y/N} I feel the heat climb to my cheeks again, and my heartbeat speeds up. He’s just so beautiful, why can’t I have him? It's about all I can do to keep from grabbing him, and laying a big your my hero kiss on those perfectly formed lips. A man like him will make some lucky girl very happy someday.
“Thank you Jensen,” I kiss his hand instead , and look at him. “You’re a very sweet person,” I stand to get my laptop from the overhead bin, “but I’m sure you have better things to do than to be at my side trying to save me from the craziness of the world.”
Just as I lay my laptop in my seat, the plane hits  turbulence and it  knocks me off my feet, literally. I feel myself fall backwards and wouldn’t you know it, right into Jensen’s arms. He looks down at me “And you were saying?”
I swallow hard as I stare into his hooded eyes. His left hand runs through my hair as his hand gently cups the back of my head.  I don’t dare move, I’m even afraid to blink, scared that this is some kind of a dream. He stares down at me a moment longer then makes a decision that will change my life. He bends his head down in slow motion, almost like a dream, then his lips meet mine. His lips are soft and warm, and they are pressed against mine. His tongue rubs against my bottom lip, begging for permission to enter. I let him in as the warmth of his touch shoots through to my very soul. He tastes sweet, like cool mint, yet his touch is warm like a blanket covering me as my body shivers.
My stomach tingles as my lips burn from his touch, his left hand slips down to my waist near my hips as the kiss progresses, I hear myself moan from his touch. I guess he likes it, because he moves his hand a little more up towards my chest. What the hell am I doing? I'm not this type of girl. A part of me wants to pull away, but a larger part of me tells that part to shut up and keep going. We continue kissing, not once breaking contact from each other. My lungs beg for me to replenish their air. The burning sensation inside me is uncontrollable, and I can’t stop kissing him. It’s when he cups my left breast that I let go of his amazing lips to let out a moan. I open my eyes briefly to see his face, it’s then I notice that I’m in my seat, not in his arms.

The First Annual Meeting of the Glomgold Society
Summary: All the different versions of Flintheart Glomgold meet to discuss their common problem. Basically the target audience of this story is like... Just me. Maybe one or two other people.
Word Count: 1600
Warnings: horrible fake Scottish accents.
Don Rosa's Flintheart Glomgold looked around the table and knocked at it with his cane. "Welcome, me. Me's- Different versions of Flintheart Glomgold. I have called you all here to discuss how to get rid of our respective Scrooge McDucks."
"Wait ah second," a Scottish accented voice asked as the 80's Ducktales cartoon version spoke up, "why does this guy get to be the chairman?"
"Because the author of this story likes me," Don Rosa's Flinty stated. "And she couldn't decide if Barks's version should be split into two versions or not. Last I saw him was when we stuffed him into a closet since he was confused and tried to shoot us all for being in South Africa."
"But still, if not Barks's, then surely it should be me," 80's Ducktales one tried. "Ah'm best known to the general public! Mass appeal!"
"What on earth has made you think the author has ever heard the words 'mass appeal' in her life?" Lars Jensen's Flinty pointed out. He sighed. "Can we just get to the point? I have to admit, I enjoy my own company but we came here for a reason."
"Scrooge McDuck!" 80's Egmont Flinty exclaimed and there was a general murmur from them all apart from Ducktales reboot Flinty who let out a bagpipe noise and a "Hello? You can let me out of the closet now? I'd just like to go home to my money" coming from somewhere.
Don Rosa's Flinty hit the table again. "Indeed! Our nemesis who continues to claim he's the richest duck in the world! I don't know about you but I have had enough!"
"He always does that!"
"He ruins all my plans!"
"He urged Magica de Spell to attack me to get my No.1 Coin! And The Beagle boys to steal my hard-earned money!"
"He stole my golden meteorite!"
"He just refuses to die, the old bastard!"
"He tried to throw me a birthday party when I was all set up to wallow in depression the whole day!"
"He let me be kidnapped by giant Australian moles!"
"He made me think I owed all the money in the world to him!"
"He locked me into a pyramid and left me there!" Guido Martina's Glomgold said.
"He thinks he's morre Scottish than aye am!" Ducktales reboot Flinty cried out.
"He is more Scottish than you are," Lars Jensen's Flinty pointed out. "I'm pretty sure I am more Scottish than you are."
"At least mah McDuck is ah genuine thrreat!" He mimicked Jensen's Flinty's voice (which it being a fake Scot mimicking a Dane-written-South African came out sounding like a Bulgarian accent): "Oh dear my Scrooge McDuck tries to drag me out to socialize with people the horror."
"Hey! He also rescued me from a deserted island once it was very embarrassing."
"I can symphatize," Don Rosa's Flinty interrupted them, "but we're not getting anywhere-"
"It strikes me that maybe we should focus on Scrooge," Guido Martina's Flinty pointed out. "Our Scrooges might have differences and if the whole point of this is trying to find new ways to deal with him..."
There was general nodding around the table and a few "Well I do like complaining about him"- comments.
The reboot Flinty pulled out a smartphone. "Ah got pics! This is him at a meeting. And this is him punching mah in the face. And this is him taking a bath-"
"Interesting. I mean, you're telling me he takes baths in water? I'm pretty sure my Scrooge only bathes in coins that's why he always smells so nice." Don Rosa's Flinty shook his fist. "As a plot against me."
"It definitely is a plot of some kind!" Kari Korhonen's Flinty agreed. "I bet he's so adorable just to annoy me."
A silence fell. The specific kind of silence where you are trapped in a room with alternative versions of yourself and someone lets slip something you weren't sure you wanted to discuss but now that it's brought up wish someone will say something as long as it's not you.
"By the way," 80's Ducktales Flinty decided to break the silence, "Just to make sure, when you say 'your Scrooge' you mean 'your' as in your boyfriend?"
Don Rosa's Flinty made a gagging sound. "What?"
Lars Jensen's Flinty fainted.
Reboot Flinty fell over with a 'herbivorous haggis!' exclamation. Don Rosa's Flinty took the opportunity to steal his smartphone to take modern technology back to the 50's.
"Hm?" 80's Ducktales Glomgold said. "You're telling me you aren't actually together with him?"
"No!" 80's Egmont Flinty said. "That would never- no!"
"But to be clear, everyone here is gay for Scrooge McDuck, right?"
"I am not!" Guido Martina's Glomgold protested. "I might be gay but I'm not gay for that... asshole-"
His eyes widened as realization dawned. "&£@## I am gay for that asshole." He buried his face in his hands. "I have a horrible taste in men!"
"Well ah'm not gay!" Reboot Glomgold exclaimed. "Aye am very straight, straighter than Scrooge McDuck who had, what, one real girlfriend everr? Two? Have you seen the four girls aye hired as mah cheerleading squad? Twice as straight! Also each of them had a bagpipe. A bagpiiipe! Aye once met a straight person who was playing a bagpipe that's straightie culture reit?"
"Just as a... datapoint," Korhonen's Flinty asked 80's Ducktales Glomgold, "How did you get him to, well- Date you?"
"Ah asked him out," 80's Ducktales Flinty said.
"What!?" Don Rosa's Glomgold said. "But he's so... oblivious!"
"I know!"
"I keep challenging him to compare our fortunes and he never gets the hint!" Jensen's Flinty said.
"The moment I saw him in my 20's I knew he was the one," 80's Egmont Flinty said. "I immediately threw a bucket of dirty water on him but somehow this failed to make him jump into my arms and declare his undying love to me?? What gives?"
"I keep trying to drop boulders on him!"
"Ah did try that at first! But then ah just asked him on a date and it worked! We went to a nice restaurant and-"
Don Rosa's Glomgold waved his hand dismissively. "Well, that's because your Scrooge is a softie. Unlike mine. A true challenge. You're defined by your enemies and I can't say I'm terribly impressed by your soft little-"
The reboot Flinty laughed. "Well, mah Scroogey is a true adventurrer! A cunnin' business man! Looks cracking in a kilt-"
For a second silence fell as everyone considered the idea of Scrooge in a kilt.
"My Scrooge is kinda an asshole," Guido Martina's Flinty said. "He keeps being pretty mean to that Rockerduck guy- Maybe I should be mean to him too? That might make an impression? We could bond over throwing bricks at Johnny?"
"My Scrooge told me he no longer constantly feels the need to rip his lungs off when he breathes the same air I do," Jan Gulbransson's Glomgold said. "I think it means he likes me."
"I think my Scrooge hits the best balance between an asshole and adorable," came from the closet. "Just impress him with your ball of string... Just make sure it's longer than his... I'm sure that would have worked if I just had a foot more string."
"The Scrooge I have a crush on is obviously the superior one!" 80's Egmont Flinty declared.
"Crush!" Don Rosa's Flinty laughed. "A mere crush is it? And not a bottomless endless yearning? Weak!"
Reboot Flinty looked around. "Ah'll show yah  more pictures of mah Scrooge bein' adoorable with his wee tiny lads, where did mah phone go? Did yah see-"
In search for a diversion Don Rosa's Glomgold turned to Korhonen's Flinty who happened to sit on his other side: "Well you won't get Scrooge, not with that look" He pulled his beard. "Get a haircut, hippie!"
"WAK!" Korhonen's Flinty slapped his hand away. "I'm pretty sure hippies didn't exist in the 50's, how do you know about them?"
"Well I'm pretty sure my fist didn't exist in your face in the 50's either but see where it's now!"
"Aah!"
80's Ducktales Flinty took the chance to leap at reboot Flinty. "Ah show you Scottish!" He pushed reboot Flinty into the ground.
Not to get left out, Guido Martina's Flinty kicked him in the stomach. "Mostly to see if he makes bagpipe noises when- oh he does!"
Lars Jensen's Flinty ducked under the table as Carlos Mota's Flintheart jumped at Don Rosa's Glomgold and bit him on the leg.
Don Rosa's Glomgold tried to shake him off. "If you give me rabies I'll send the hospital bill to you!"
Korhonen's Flinty stuffed his beret in Don Rosa's Flinty's mouth. "At least my hair doesn't look like it's made of steel wire!"
Jensen's Flinty came face to face with 80's Egmont Flinty under the table. "Hello? We're basically the same person, right? Maybe-"
"I think I have had enough social interaction for a decade," Jensen's Flinty said. "Also I was promised free food, which I never got." He sighed. "This went well."
Upon seeing 80's Egmont Flinty's look he hurried to add: "I mean obviously I knew it'd end up in backstabbing but I thought we'd get farther than 1500 words into this fic..."
"Want to go? I think we could try dragging original Ducktales Flinty with us, he might buy us dinner and maybe give us some pointers on the whole 'boyfriend' thing-" he ducked back under the table. "Intini's Flinty has a gun and he's talking about mole people again."
