You know, I usually don't judge people based on how they feel about a cartoon and the characters in it, because it's a drawing. But then there are times when I see shit like this, and I find myself changing my mind about that. There was another story/art done by this person where Ursa and Zuko were dancing while the bodies of Ozai and Azula are behind them, dangling in the air after being hanged. One of the tags for that was "Good parent Ursa" or "Ursa is a good mother" or whatever the fuck it said. Which I honestly find to be laughable. Because this person is saying that Ursa is a good mother for rejoicing in the fact that her daughter is dead. And she did absolutely nothing to stop it, because Azula "deserved it". That's not being a good mother. That's being an abhorrent piece of shit and a disgusting person. But it's totally fine because it's Azula, who is the only character to have ever committed war crimes in the show.

First of all, the war crimes bs is stupid because going by that logic, every single person in the show committed a war crime, whether or not they were on the good side or the bad side.

Secondly, this shit reeks of sexism and misogyny. You know why? Because you're saying that Azula deserves to die and face unimaginable torture for the crime of being better than her brother and not bending over backwards for him, and for being unapologetic about it. Your saying that Azula deserves to die for the crime of being a girl who was better than her brother because she actually worked her ass off.

And if you honestly think that and believe that it's "justice"? That's extremely telling about how you feel about women irl who are better than a male relative at something. Who knows, maybe that's how you feel about your own relative who is better than you at something. And if that's the case, that is beyond fucked up.

And do not come on this post and say "oh she deserves punishment because she abused him!" Fuck out of here with that shit. You say that crap, I'm blocking your ass. You want to say someone abused Zuko? Look no further than Ozai.

I'm loving your posts on the medical side of 911ls! I wanted to ask about those two nurses who were discussing TK's chances when Carlos overhears them. What's the likelihood that nurses would actually be talking that way about a patient in a coma while in the patient's room? I know the show probably did it for the drama factor and to set the stage for Carlos to speak his mind to TK, but to me it seemed quite unrealistic that any nurses would do something like that? I mean, it seems like common sense to not talk about the patient/customer/client in a place where others could overhear you.

Thanks for asking me about the one scene that almost made me stop watching the show in its entirety! (That probs sounds sarcastic, but it isn't. I literally complain about this scene to anyone that stands still long enough to listen.)

Suffice to say I hate that scene. I had a much longer response, but I just deleted the whole thing because...I don't even know why honestly.

Do nurses talk like this? Yes, we do. But never in a patient room or with family members near. In TK's case I imagine much of the talk at the nurses station in hushed whispers was about how sad it was and how best to help family/friends prepare for the worst.

This scene looks like it's supposed to be a new nurse being trained by an experienced nurse. I didn't go rewatch the scene because I hate it so much so I'm doing this from memory. I don't remember why they were in there. Maybe to turn him? TK would have had to be turned every 2 hours to prevent bed sores.

But all the nurses I know (and I've been in it for 15 years) we are very superstitious about intubated/sedated/coma whatever you want to refer to it as patients hearing us. We talk to them just like they were awake. We enter the room and say hi and introduce ourselves and tell them what medications we're giving and what else we might be doing.

We even talk to the dead. When I have to prepare a body, I talk to the person. Let them know we're just cleaning them up and what family is there to see them when we're done.

I just think that scene is a really shitty way to treat nurses after all the shitty things we've been put through since the pandemic. Because the abuse we suffer has honestly only gotten worse.

It's why a million nurses left the profession last year. It's why brand new nurses leave the profession after 1-3 months instead of the 2-3 years it used to be.

Maybe I'm just being too sensitive and people might think I'm reading too much into a snippet of a scene. But in a show that's supposed to be at little bit about medicine they should maybe treat nurses with a little more dignity. How many scenes have there been in the hospital? And how many nurses have been in those scenes? I guess that's all I'm trying to say. Sorry. Guess I ended up rambling anyway.
