It's just so wholesome to see how entire fandom is so extremely excited about the new season coming out! You can feel how Good Omens part of Tumblr vibrates with energy and expectations, and it's so relaxing to see how everyone share your thoughts and feeling about some silly little queer angel and demon being ineffable husbandos and doing their day-to-day routine with a mix of some specifically strange adventures.
It's so nice to be part of this, it feels like a big family getting together for a big holiday, sharing their memories and stories, giving gifts and joking around. It's one of the best experiences, especially when usually you're interested in shows that are already finished.
Just,, so many feelings tonight-

CtM Thursday Thoughts
Merch and Marketing
Hello Nonnatuns!
It’s been a while since I’ve done a Thursday post, but since there’s been an issue raised recently and it’s Thursday, I thought I would post some of the things I’ve been thinking about. If you’re interested, more thoughts follow...
So, I’ve noticed there’s been a little bit of an issue about the new CtM Cookbook, and it’s been confusing me a little. I replied to @weshallc’s post about this already, but I noticed other comments on that post, as well, and likes, so I guess there are several people who have problems with this product. I’m wondering what it is about a cookbook that’s raising concern when there already has been a host of CtM merchandise, and not nearly as much as I’ve seen for other shows (like t-shirts, Funko Pops, even Lego sets, etc.) CtM itself has had calendars, puzzles, a board game, playing cards, etc. I’m not sure how a cookbook is much different than those things.
Also, I noticed a few comments to the effect that the CtM production team should be spending more time on the show itself than on making merchandise. I wanted to mention that I don’t think the CtM show producers or Heidi had much to do with the cookbook (or the board game, puzzles, calendars, etc.) The production company contracts with a licensing firm for merchandise, and I think the writer/publisher of the cookbook probably went through those channels to get approval. I’m sure CtM has someone to look over the products to approve them and make sure they’re well done and in the spirit of the show, but this cookbook was written by a food historian who also wrote other books, including a Downton Abbey cookbook. It’s been approved by CtM, and features pics and quotes, but as far as I know, Heidi  and the executive producers didn’t have a hand in writing it. Producing this or any other product tie-ins does not usually have any direct impact on the writing/producing of the show itself. If anyone has issues with series 12, they have every right to express that opinion, but series 12 was going to be what it was regardless of a cookbook or any other CtM merchandise that could have been produced.
Also, as for the book itself, it really is a quality product. I like cookbooks, and I have a few, and this is a good one. It’s not just a collection of recipes with pics from the show. It has historical essays, and many of the recipes are described in context with moments from the show, or characters. It’s an interesting read, and I haven’t made any of the recipes yet, but they look really good. I’m looking forward to trying some of them.
For anyone who doesn’t like cookbooks, you probably won’t like this one. I understand if it’s just not your thing. Some people in the comments on Facebook were asking about a book of crochet/knitting patterns, for instance, and if that ever gets made, although I’d have no problem with it in principle, I probably wouldn’t buy it because I don’t crochet or knit. I do cook, though, so the cookbook has been of interest to me since I first noticed it for pre-order on Amazon a few months ago. CtM is a medical show primarily, but it’s also about its era and location, and how people lived then, and it’s about the characters. Food has been a big part of the show since the beginning. Eating and drinking have been the centerpiece for a lot of memorable moments on the show, so this book with its focus on food, history and context makes a sense to me. It seems like an entirely appropriate tie-in with the show, at least to me. I guess not everyone is going to agree, and that’s OK, but I just wanted to put a few thoughts out.
Thanks to everyone who reads this!

Ok but the juxtaposition of the league’s song including women whose ancestry is non-USAmerican, of the league literally going out of their way to bring Canadians and not going out of their way but accepting a woman from Cuba …. And actively telling Max she isn’t American enough

The Gang Meets Jamie’s Mum Part 3: Finale
Part 1 and Part 2 of this over here
Jamie’s Mum meets Rebecca, who she definitely has a bit of a thing for.  The conversation starts with her being very shy and awkward, until for whatever reason the conversation hits upon the topic of Rupert
Ms. Tartt uses her experience with being with a Shit Man (James Sr.) to connect with Rebecca as they both understand that the end of this kind of relationship can have long term problems for your self worth and give you lasting fears of intimacy.  Ms. Tartt  is able to channel her attraction into a pep talk to help build up Rebecca’s self worth, which Rebecca then copy pastes and reverse uno cards, and flustered, Ms. Tartt not having a rebuttal for yet again being told that she is a catch and she can go on dates and find love and intimacy if she wants to.
Below them, Richmond wins the match.
This is devolving into more of a sketch than the level of fleshed out for the early parts.  I think that if this was structured like an episode of the show, the B-plot has Beard dealing with Jayne.
Before the game he ends up in a heated phone call with her in the hallway.  She’s angry and upset that he didn’t pick up earlier because of work and also continues to be jealous of Ted.  Keeley overhears.  She and Beard have a discussion about how Jayne’s jealousy is not Beard’s responsibility.  After all, Keeley is in a polyamorous relationship and that means she has a very specific view on jealousy.
After the game, Beard has another phone call.  Ms. Tartt accidentally overhears.
They talk.  She relays a specific story about James Sr. being volatile, but extremely captivating because if the relationship was always in crisis, then it was also always exciting and a way to distract her from her own problems, even though in the end it burnt her out and also she had to prioritize her focus on taking care of Jamie.  When she stopped paying attention to James Sr, he disappeared.
Beard agrees that’s fucked up.  Ms. Tartt says yes, and that the way Jayne was speaking to him seems to be the exact same.  It isn’t said, but this is the moment Beard decides that he and Jayne are breaking up.
Meanwhile at home after celebrating the win, Jamie notices his mum is kind of quiet. Eventually she’s like Jamie, I’m bisexual and that’s important and I’m coming out to you even though nothing’s happened.  But maybe now I’ll date girls
Jamie realizes that like.  His identity is actually something he finds important to him and something he does want to share with his mom, even in the event he ends up breaking up with Roy and Keeley or marrying a woman.  His mom gets to do a redo of meeting them both, and then embarrasses Jamie on purpose this time
Three days later with less than a week left in her stay she reveals she’s going on a date with beard.
Jamie is like mum no.  actually that’s fine, of all my bosses this one is the one I have zero daddy issues about and am not currently in a romantic relationship with.  You go mom.
The End
