so i fell in love with a waiter at a restaurant tonight, he had ripped jeans and a band shirt and hair that fell in his face and a smile that showed his gums. and i fell in love with a couple in a cafe a week ago, they both had dyed hair and fishnets and doc martens and they laughed like they'd never known anything but joy. and i fell in love with the girl working at a store a while ago, she had a hat with bunny ears and spikes on her jacket and the gentlest voice i've ever known. i fell in love with the guys at the board game store playing dungeons and dragons, and the woman modeling for a photoshoot with a yellow umbrella and a black dress, and a thousand other people who i think about all the time. i don't know their names, not the person at the ice cream store with the pretty earring or the woman i see every morning walking her dog, but i love them, each and every one. and they don't know it but i care about them, in a genuine and real way, even though they're strangers. because they made my day better, in one way or another, whether it was giving up a seat for me in the airport at midnight or smiling at me while i was holding back tears. my heart is splintered into a million tiny crystals and each one belongs to someone i'll never know. and i fell in love with a waiter at a restaurant tonight and that's got to be the most magical thing in the world.

anyone else have multiple traumatic memories associated specifically with holidays/family vacations? because that is a topic I never see discussed in all the So You Had A Shitty Childhood, Now What? self-help books i've been reading. but for me, it was a significant thing. and the more i think about it the more it seems like this would be an (unfortunately) common experience. would be grateful to hear if this matches other peoples' experiences...
