Fanfic Author Asks
Tagged by @bereft-of-frogs!
I... have a really hard time being positive about my own writing, but I tried OTL
Author Name: I’m KiwiMeringue pretty much everywhere! I might change it to this one sometime? But I’ve changed it before and I don’t want to keep like, switching all the time OTL I should probably just have called it like KiwiWrites or something, but the thing about this username is I just thought it was cute and unintentionally led a bunch of people to assume I was from New Zealand which is patently false advertising and very disappointing when it turns out I’m Canadian xD;
Fandoms you Write for: I’ve got stories published for the MCU, and Naruto!  Uhhh I’m blanking on things I’m famiiliar enough with to write for but there are a bunch? Critical role, the adventure zone, Good omens, netflix she-ra., maybe? Homestuck, but more @mr-alice and I’s fantrolls and kids, who still have a huge place in my heart, more than canon.
Where you post: I’m kiwimeringue on AO3 and FF.net, and then any like small prompt fills I’d probably leave here,
Most Popular One-shot: Hands down, it’s Therapy Dog.  In which a young Hatake Kakashi deals with grief, survivor’s guilt, or PTSD by acquiring an irresponsible number of dogs. (Disclaimer: this does not work irl if you’re not a magic dog whisperer with a large property out of town)
Favourite Story You Wrote:  This is as far as I got and this has been sitting in my drafts for days because I really, really struggle with this. I have a hard time being proud of anything I write. I guess it’s Therapy dog, becuase it’s definitely the one that’s resonated best with people, and probably my best example of “Look, I wrote a fanfic!” without having to qualify it with a bunch of asterisks.
I have given myself a self-imposed deadline of from October 1st to halloween to finish a prompt that I got from @portraitoftheoddity in her discord server, (it’s not SUPER spooky, but it’s tenuously thematically appropriate enough that I’m making it my project for the month xD) if I can pull this off, it will be this one. It should be fun.
Story You Were Nervous to Post: ALL OF THEM. Time I had some Time Alone (TIHSTA) is like a self-indulgent au of a self indulgent au, and I;m amazed anyone enjoyed it xD It got more of a response that Undying Fidelity (UF), the fic from which is is derived, did, for a while, which surprised me. I sort of what to qualify that I started this before I found the incredible corner of the MCU writer’s fandom that I currently frequent, so uh... this is very much Disney Grandmaster. This is Jeff Goldblum in space. Which is what I’m comfortable writing, but feels really pale and inconsequential in contrast to the horrifically vivid and rich dark carnival of twisted Grandmaster fan content that exists, like welcome to fucking weenie hut Jr’s, population: me.
How Do You Pick Your Titles: With great difficulty and much waffling! Kintsugi is named for thematic relevance that... I haven’t actually gotten to yet but it’s about to become stupid literal anyone who read version 1.0 knows how I mean this. But the idea of things history, and damage being inextricably linked to them, but that the thing can go on anyway, changed but not ruined, there’s recurring imagery and points of fault lines, places where things have been weakened, but that these are important and necessary.
I don’t feel like I have to explain Therapy Dog xD it’s about coping with grief... with dogs.
Undying Fidelity is like, painfully obvious, but it’s what I had started calling it, and it just. stuck. Obviously from Loki’s like... second last line in IW, and Sigyn’s title in the Marvel Comics. I’m kind of wishing I’d chosen something else, because there are definitely other fics with the same title, and it’s the name of a song from the IW soundtrack that is... less than fun. For obvious reason. I mean it’s perfect for what it was used for, but it’s not a “ahhh gonna pop this one on for a listen” kind of piece. I still can’t think of anything better, though we’re kind of in a weird place because I don’t quite have all the cards on the table, yet. On Loki’s end though,I’m hoping that I’ve sufficiently established this like... tenuous vestigial little flicker of affection that he’s been able to more or less ignore, but that simply would not go out, despite how much easier that would have been, that’s been given a little room to breathe now. (I could definitely go on trying to justify this for paragraphs, so I’ll stop now xD). Thematic chapter naming is another thing I love to inflict on myself and I always regret it, though I love it so much when other people do it, ahhh. UF’s chapters are all named after cards of the Major Arcana in the Tarot. I’m going to get to one eventually and you’re all going to see why I did this, and you’re all going to hate me and I deserve it xD
Time I Had Some Time Alone is the thing that’s repeated at the end of REM’s :”It’s the end of the world as we know it” and does sort of describe our reluctant hero’s state at the beginning xD Thriving in his completely self centered backstabbing Littlefinger party hellscape. (I went off on a huge tangent here that I have removed, I may make it its own post). Anyway, more thematic chapter naming, everything’s based on some apocalyptic or post-apocalyptic story. So 21 Days later (since for Loki it felt like three weeks) instead of 28, and chapter two is now titled “beyond thunderdome” because of course it is. (it was “the man come around” for like, THE ARRIVAL OF DEATH  but that uh... that’s going to be a later chapter now).
Fic-in-planning stages will be called some variant of “Again, from the Top”? Take it from the top? ugh I’m trying to evoke like... redoing a scene.
There was also Errant, my NaNoWriMo story from like 2012 or something? xD It was about a bunch of idiots that were basically an RPG party in a shitty High fantasy bullshit setting. So like, as in, “a knight errant” wandering in search of adventure, but also in the sense of like like... they’re a bunch of dumbasses making mistakes.
Do you Outline: Yes! I definitely need to be more organized about it because my outlines are like these stupid irreverent event sequences that involve me remembering nuance way too well. Like for Kintsugi especially I’m scared I’ll have forgotten important minutia that I didn’t bother including becauyse oh pfft, of course I’ll remember that. And then I ...dont. My initial outlines for UF were an excel spreadsheet with scenes in various tiem periods that I dragged and dropped all over the place xD It was SUPPOSED to be thematically relevant paired scenes, with one part of each chapter being zset in the past and one half on the statesman and it just... did not work out that way.
How Many of Your Stories are complete: One! And it’s the one-shot! FML!
In-Progress:  Undying Fidelity: Currently working on chapter 10 out of 22 TIHSTA: 2 out of... probably 4+ epilogue? Kintsugi: 13/Mayyybe like 30 something?
Coming Soon: From the Top is in its planning stages~!
Do You Accept Prompts: Absolutely! I can’t guarantee that a prompt is going to like... spark writing? in me? But I’m always open to the idea. And that doesn’t mean that an idea is bad or anything! Just like, can I, personally, take this idea and run with it somewhere.
Upcoming Story You’re the Most Excited For: Probably from the top, though I am two chapters out from part of of UF I am reeeeeally looking forward to writing :D
Tag Five Fanfic Authors to Answer These Questions: I don’t know who’s been tagged already, I’m so bad at this, so uhh~ If you have been already, or if you just don’t feel like it, please disregard this! And if I don’t tag you but you feel like it, go for it!  @teleris-night @malicemanaged @cosmicmewtwo @not-so-terrible and @ramblingredrose

Heya! Idk if you tag things upon request, so if you don't I totally understand, but if you do, would you mind tagging butterflies and/or bugs? Also, have a nice day either way 😊 <33
hey! i’m really sorry, but i don’t tag upon request... i know this will sound insensitive and selfish, and to be fair it most likely is, but i’d like to keep this blog as simple and enjoyable for me to use. i hope you understand and again I am sorry. i hope you have a nice day as well!

why klance still has a chance lol
okay so, my friend wrote an analysis of this article, but didn’t want to post it themselves in fear of backlash. so i asked if i could copy it all and post it for them, so here you go. it’s very long but it’s worth it. everyone from this point on is their writing not mine
“There’s still plenty to wrap up in the final 13 episodes, however.”
“Andrea Romano, who was our voice director at the time, walked in and was like ‘Is this the last episode? Did you kill them all?’ And it does feel like you could technically end the series there, and everything would be hunky-dory.”
Okay first let me talk about these
Because first there is plenty to wrap up in the final 13 episodes and the interviewer acknowledges this which means that outside our fandom people do realize lots have to be answered and 13 episodes is a lot but that’s a short time to do it
2nd SS:
That’s (either Lm or JDS) saying they acknowledge this as well. They could have ended it there if they wanted too but they know there is again a lot left to be gone over and answered involving Honerva
And the ships too
Forgot this one
Dos Santos joked, “We were hoping it would be a surprise”
This made me think okay this is confirming what I thought and a lot of others thought
They like surprises
They like the wow factor of their audience
Okay now onto the good stuff
Interviewer:
“In terms of other loose ends left to tie up in the final 13 episodes, season seven hinted at the possibility of romantic relationships between Allura and Lance and and a potentially one-sided attraction between Keith and Acxa. Aside from Lotor and Allura’s brief relationship in season six (which ultimately ended in betrayal and Lotor’s demise), romance hasn’t been a particular focus in Voltron: Legendary Defender. That was deliberate.”
Lauren Montgomery:
“We really wanted to focus the beginning of our show on making sure each of these characters had a fully formed arc and a fully formed self before they started doing anything beyond that so that none of these characters felt solely defined by being solely ‘the girlfriend’ or ‘the boyfriend’ or ‘the whatever’ of ‘whoever,’” Montgomery explained. “Now I think that you can look at every character and really feel like they’ve grown personally — maybe they feel a little more comfortable in themselves to feel comfortable looking beyond themselves.”
The parts of that I found really interesting and key note worthy
Tumblr media
THIS ONE
Tumblr media
“The girlfriend” “the boyfriend” the whatever of whoever
That jumped out at me
That implies that it doesn’t really necessarily mean it’s boyfriend and girlfriend, this means any kind of ties to the characters and it doesn’t *specifically* state boyfriend & girlfriend it keeps those separated
As far as the “girlfriend of whoever” goes
This could be a NUMBER of people aside from Allura who they aren’t even together yet and I don’t know that they will be together
Lauren and JDS don’t actually specify anything concrete
Example: This could be Shay for all we know
And the fact she talks about the whatever of whoever
Details it from being specifically about anyone in particular
She’s talking about the relationships the cast have with each other and side characters in general like
Pidges father and brother
Keith and Krolia
This could be about Allura and Coran
This could be about family
The friends they’ve made along the way like
Keith and Kolivan
So this isn’t strictly about romance or pointing out any specific romance
Now moving on
This next paragraph is the Interviewer writing
Not JDS or Lauren there are no dialogue quotations
The only dialogue they quoted is a Lance line
Interviewer:
This seems to be the case with Allura and Lance in particular. In earlier seasons, Lance’s incessant flirting with Allura was little more than comic relief — his first words to her were “I’m Lance, and you’re right here in my arms,” after which she immediately called his ears hideous. Things have changed since then, and Lance and Allura have had the chance to mature and bond with each other. Lance’s cheesy pick-up lines seem to be a relic of seasons past — what remains is a relationship built on mutual respect and trust that could hold romantic potential after the galactic crises start to abate.
Keep in mind that wasn’t said by the creators from what I can tell because there are no quotations and no (Lauren said of Joaquim said) which this writer puts and points out when putting in quotes and their responses like an interviewer typically does so
I think people get hung up on this paragraph
When JDS and LM didn’t say this, this was the interviewer and if your caught up on what I’m about to show their responses
Specific parts of their responses jump out at me too
“I think things evolve,” Dos Santos said. “You know, we’re the rare situation where we have this many episodes to serialize a story and character arcs. So, I think while initially romantic interpersonal relations weren’t really the driving factor of the show, things naturally evolve.”
One he says things evolve naturally and what pairing has JOAQUIM HIMSELF said is a natural evolution of their characters
Keith and Lance
Specifically
I’m positive that was JDS who said that in an interview before and he’s right
Romance interpersonal relations really weren’t the driving factor they don’t push the show forward they aren’t the main focus. That’s a minor subplot thing. It’s extra.
Tumblr media
brief or enduring
brief or enduring
BRIEF OR ENDURING
Brief makes me think of Allura just because she’s never returned anything romantic to Lance. Until this season in one episode ???
Enduring Let’s see what that word actually means
Tumblr media
I wonder who this makes me think of
Hint hint it’s Keith
Their friendship, relationship, whatever it is atm
Is *show spanning*
They’ve had highs and lows. They’ve reciprocated soft important moments.
So Joaquin’s statement is not just a poke at Allurance it’s a poke at Klance too it’s a poke at every romantic relationship. Initially Romantic interpersonal relationships weren’t really driving the show. But like he said things naturally evolve. And looking back at Klance interactions through the seasons and into season 7, there’s a lot, and the farther it went the more it got naturally evolving which Joaquim has said they’re a natural evolution. And lance’s endgame is a slowburn confirmed. Now s7 Klance is tense because Lance is hurt. Keith was hurt we saw Keith get hurt early in the show Lance refused to acknowledge he remember they bonded. And has been hostile towards Keith in several situations which died down in season 3 onwards but there was still here and there times that they’d argue and poke fun right. Because it’s a part of their relationship. This season was different it was tense and serious and Lance is seriously hurting because he’s acknowledging his feelings for Keith internally or very close to that. He was hurt when Keith left (which I’ll argue Keith left so lance wouldn’t have to leave the team). But Lance didn’t know that. Lance didn’t know why it hurt so much. But lance getting closer to his feelings and accepting/acknowledging them, he’s gonna lash out, he’s angry. Keith lashes out too. But you say things you don’t mean when you’re angry. You get so angry you’ll say things to hurt people because while your mad about something. You may not mean exactly what you’re saying. Anyone whose ever argued knows this cause your head isn’t clear when that happens. You start relaxin and thinking about it and regret what you’ve said. And ups and downs to me that’s enduring. Having good times and bad times that’s enduring. Being soft and open with each other and having fights. THATS ENDURING, THATS NATURALLY EVOLVING. Their back and forth fights this season. Held WAY deeper meaning than ANY bickering they’ve EVER done. This isn’t S1 Klance, this is a Klance we’ve never seen before. Because I believe we’re gonna see the issues tackled and resolved next season. This isn’t a bad Klance this is a Klance that’s
Tumblr media
This to me isn’t the resolution, we haven’t seen the resolution. Would I classify this is Falling action or the climax I’m not sure but it’s one of those. Klance’s end relationship whatever it may be will NOT be hostile and I hope and I do have hope a big part of me still believes it’s romantic
The interviewer (later putting a quote in from JDS):
“Whatever the final season of Voltron: Legendary Defender holds, there are plenty of details — both major and minor — that beg resolution. “To continue the story doesn’t necessarily mean that it gets bigger in scope in terms of, you know, the universe and a battle growing between millions and millions of people,” Dos Santos noted. “Sometimes things get smaller and that means more as well.”
He’s sayin it doesn’t mean it’s gonna be another huge battle action packed season even though they have the honerva deal to solve. We were so plot focused this season that the relationships and the other stuff wasn’t a focus
The things I BET Jermey was talking about
I bet those are s8 things. S8 is gonna be the personal season I think. And what better season to be a Lance season than the personal one. The one character we’ve followed, the one who is arguably the focus of the show. While the other paladins are the focus, i see Lance in the role most and more than the other paladins. Even if he doesn’t get upfront evolution he has grown as a person. I’ll argue that with anyone who thinks he hasn’t, and he hasn’t been destroyed or devolutionized. I don’t think Keith has either. It was stressful and Lances heart has been put through the ringer in turmoil and stress over his feelings for Allura and Keith. He’s been stressed since Keith left and hasn’t not been that way since. He’s had to look into himself and question things and he felt like something was missing, and now that something is back. That something being a someone named Keith. They are a pair, and if it’s a friend pair fine but they are one nonetheless and I believe it’s romantic. Just Keith is angry too. He’s never liked leading. Even if he’s good at it or moderately better at it and learning, it’s always stressed him out. And Lance had been his impulse control rock. Now Lance can’t be, Lance NEEDS a rock he needs someone to walk things through to understand he’s got so much going on in his heart and head and I believe Shiro will walk him through it. Because he’s the only one who understands and then Keith will play a role. (Oh look my demon Klancer is coming Out mega my bad guys)
Lauren:
““There’s more story to tell,” Montgomery stated. “And we think it’s pretty rewarding.”
There’s more story to come
They have more to say and tell
They think it’s rewarding
As a whole
Not herself but “we” everyone involved i bet
Now this has to be something major wether it’s hetero or homo or not romantic at all, something big is coming in s8 that’s not plot driven, but story driven.
So in conclusion,

after that last anon you answered, i'm now curious about how you pace your stories! i'm usually a little too excited for all the things i want to happen, so i do a lot of skipping ahead and getting to the meat for a fast-paced story. but!! your space cowboy stories are SO GOOD and i know they wouldn't be the same with my kind of pacing, so yeah. i'm curious ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Hi there, honey! :D *hugs*
Okay, this was another question I had to think about for a long time … I often conflate pacing and overall story structure, so fair warning, that is probably gonna happen here.
I’m going to start off with a fairly obvious fact, which is that different stories require different pacing, and that the rules in fanfiction, I find, are a little looser.
This is because we rarely need much exposition in fanfiction, since we’re assuming our readers already know these characters and these settings, so we don’t have to worry too much about explanations or descriptions. That being said, there is always some world-building (particularly in AUs), and that can be pretty challenging to insert without disrupting the … narrative flow, I guess?
There’s a sort of … ebb and flow, overall, to a story. There are quiet times and loud times. There’s talking and then there’s action. Now, the other reason why I say fanfiction is different is because I am perfectly happy reading a story that is literally just characters being domestic, or having emotional conversations (communication, I love it so much) or … every other fun trope in fandom.
I think the way I’ve always approached pacing is to fret about it in the planning stage. Once I start writing, I’m very character-focused, so my main concern is keeping everybody as in-character and “realistic” as possible, since I usually already have an outline with all the plot/emotional beats in place (written or up in my head). But pacing does come up at times even when I have most of the story planned, and I think the biggest indicator of a pacing issue is when you get stuck while writing.
Getting stuck isn’t always about that narrative flow — there are hundreds of reasons why I get writer’s block — but I have found that sometimes it’s because I’m writing something that’s disrupting the flow. Sometimes it’s a dialogue scene that runs too long, and characters are saying/explaining things that I could just show or summarize in a descriptive paragraph. Sometimes it’s a scene that’s totally redundant, period, and I scrap it entirely.
In other words, skipping ahead and getting to the meat is totally valid on occasion ;D
As for the space cowboys … *throws hands in the air* … Here’s a look as to how that mess got organized into a semi-coherent flow of words — massive, likely incoherent ramble under the cut!
Tumblr media
First off: a one-story example — The Six-Gun Sound.
That story has the most basic pacing ever. Action scene at the start, exposition/dialogue scene right after that sets up the main plot/motive for the characters, followed by a steady build that goes right into that heist. The heist then slowly builds until BAM. Everything goes wrong, there are literal explosions, and then a climax of both the main plot-line and the emotional plot-line. (There is pacing set for both of those when I plan, usually. The plot informs the emotional beats and vice versa, depending on which is more important at any given time.)
In shorter words: action, calm, build-up to more action, big action, calm, and then the resolution. That kind of “ebb and flow” is basically how most stories work, I believe. If you have that going on in your tales, then I think you’re golden :D
I totally break those rules in many of my other tales, but, yeah. There it is ;)
Now, secondly: the entire Trouble’s Making Everything All Right series.
That is just … well, a giant mess, but it’s one that I find works for me? I might be confusing pacing with other parts of narrative structure, but overall, there’s a certain ebb and flow that leads to the first huge climax (which I believe is Short Change Heroes). Um, I’m going to try and explain and hope that it helps you?
Trouble Coming is essentially my expositional story (though I initially had no idea how long this series would go). If, for example, in your own writing you feel like “skipping” all that establishing information, well, I’m gonna be horrible and give you that old cliché — show and don’t tell (much).
I still had to explain some stuff in that story, but having no Team Voltron, having Lance and Keith sitting around that poker table, cheating at cards (Keith), and flirting as a distraction (Lance), while being tough as nails, pretty much establishes that something not good has happened. Especially as Keith worries about making ends meet.
Following that, the attack afterwards, which they treat as business as usual, barely blinking at the deaths they cause … Again, I don’t think I needed to tell you guys that they had been through some bad stuff. And they were continuing to go through some bad stuff. I don’t actually explain much until more than halfway through the story, when they’re back at the inn and there’s a moment of calm. (Again, I’m not great at pacing, but I tried to put a bit of ebb and flow in this series as a whole.) (Action at the beginning, sort of, and then calm.)
Six Gun Sound is pretty much all action, and it retroactively explains partially how Lance and Keith came to be the way they are (and how they got together ;D), and since you’ve already seen how jaded and broken they are in Trouble Coming, I like to think it makes for a sharper, harsher contrast to see them more … good just as they cross that line into becoming The Two McClains. (Lots of action/emotional conflict.)
Following that action-filled, emotional story, we’ve got Broken Bone World, which jumps forward to the more jaded Lance and Keith, but this time, we get to see them relax and perfectly in love with each other — and generally more settled in their new mercenary existence. (More calm.)
And then, Shuffling Madness, back in the past, is lots of action, lots of suffering — I hoped that seeing them as Paladins after three stories as space cowboys would be quite impactful in hindsight? Basically, seeing them being so optimistic about their chances makes you wince on their behalf because you, as the reader, already know how they end up. (Plenty of action/emotional turmoil.)
This is the point where the series is actually building towards the main climax. I had hinted at Keegin Dras going all the way back to the first story. But Paradise City is where the tension, um, kicks up, I guess (some of y’all may remember that cliffhanger? Er, sorry?) (Build-up to lots of action with a sudden stop and cliffhanger.)
I really like contrast, so this is my own personal opinion/writing style, but, um, yeah, there you go.
Edit: Damn, I totally forgot to mention Heaven Above You, which was probably one of my favourites to write — it prolongs the tension between Paradise City and Short Change Heroes, but also, while it isn’t too heavy on the action, I think of it is as still tension building because it shows that defining moment when Lance chose to take a life that wasn’t a direct threat to him. It’s an almost purely expositional story, but it sets up the emotional conflict of Short Change Heroes, while Paradise City sets up the main plot conflict?(Bit of action, mostly calm, but lots of emotional turmoil.)
Short Change Heroes is a damn disaster, but it’s a disaster I kinda really loved writing. There are just so many conversations. It really shouldn’t have had that many dialogue scenes. Holy crap, that war council is a story in and of itself, and I am definitely not Tolkien, holy crap, no.
But, um, here’s where I contradict myself and say — I didn’t care about pacing, I just wanted to get these people (Team Voltron + The Two McClains) actually talking because communication rocks, and they absolutely would’ve wanted to talk a ton after a year apart.
I did try and chop up some of the dialogue/exposition with a few action-type scenes (the interrogation scene, then that gang ambush, and that brief attack during the war council), but those scenes were also key to the plot-line and the emotional stuff. I was focused on pacing when I chose where to place those scenes, so that things would feel balanced and move forward smoothly.
So, if in your own writing, you feel like you want to skip ahead, but you also feel like whatever information you need to impart (or interaction these characters need to have) is important to the plot/pacing (e.g. you need a quiet moment before battle or you need to show off an action scene before you can get to that juicy emotional resolution), find a way to make it fun for you to tell! I am a sucker for gritty honesty or sappy confessions or no-holds-barred arguing, so that’s how I handle some exposition. I love creating angsty situations instead of just explaining that someone’s had a bad time.
Basically, in summation: I try to keep action and moments of stillness somewhat balanced.
— A huge burst of action demands a longer moment of quiet/reflection, or a longer emotional conversation and/or resolution afterwards.
— A massive emotional fight/discussion demands that the characters either have time apart or some kind of quiet/temporary peace after (even if the fight isn’t resolved right away or the discussion hasn’t unloaded everything in their heads).
This is my preferred rhythm to story-telling, both on small (one story) or large (series) scales. This way a story doesn’t feel too stilted, or overly long (too many quiet moments?), or like it isn’t letting up/allowing the reader to settle (too many action moments?) — an even rhythm/flow carries the reader along easily (hopefully).
I break these rules of mine often, but this is a general rant ;D
I really, really hope this has helped you, that this hasn’t bored you to death, and that I haven’t been totally nonsensical. I am honestly not even sure I answered this question at this point — it kinda just turned into a freakishly long ramble. *sweats* Sorry!
You are very kind to ask, and I am so grateful to you! Best of luck with the writing, dear! *all the hugs*

So, like everyone, I’ve got some thoughts on Voltron Season 7. Spoilers inbound so... skip this if you still haven’t watched it. Which you should, because despite at least half the fandom acting like it’s the end of the world, season seven is actually pretty goddamn engaging. Like “oh, I’m just gonna watch the first three or so episodes and call it a night. I’ll watch the rest tomorrow.” followed by “It’s nearly three in the morning and I have finished Voltron season seven.” engaging
Okay. So I just want to give everyone a quick warning apart from spoilers, that I am not super used to writing reactions/reviews. Usually I just mule it over in my head, talk it out with some friends, and then that’s about it. BUT~~ since I’m the only one in group of friends that loves Voltron and I would like them to watch it at some point without certain story beats spoiled, I figured I would write out my thoughts this time. You know, try and put my thoughts, praises, and criticisms in a concise and constructive piece. And while I realize that some of the things I’m going to say are probably gonna invite some interesting...responses on my post or inbox, my first few browses of the Voltron tag haven’t actually shown constructive/concise criticisms outside of how the writers handled Shiro’s relationship with Adam (something that I’ll go into detail later. The actual relationship and what I think the text is, feeding on my first Voltron season 7 post, that is. The whole backlash to the writing I do in the next paragraph).
Which, speaking of how the writers handled Shiro and Adam’s relationship! First things first, I just want to say that I can see and understand why a lot of people are upset. Voltron has grown to mean a lot of things to the fandom, and with the news that Shiro is a gay man serving in the military with a long term relationship that was leading to marriage before Kerberous Mission was really exciting. It was fantastic to get a beloved character to be confirmed to be apart of the LGBT+ community. It still is in my book. The fact that Shiro has been through a lot of shit and still has hope and love to give to his newly found family already made him an amazing character. And with his confirmed sexuality, it’s like extra decorative and delicious strawberries on an already amazing proverbial cake. It brings that much more depth and interest in a character that could have very easily been a one note character. And for me, the confirmation announcement and the announcement that we would see parts of Shiro’s life pre-Kerberous was exciting. Of the core cast, the person we know the least about in terms of home life was Shiro. With everyone else, we either knew or learned some aspect of how their lives were before this grand space adventure happened. But we never really knew with Shiro beyond he took in Keith at some point and that he was a prisoner of a ten thousand year old war for about a year. So the glimpse of how he met Keith, came to took him in, and how his relationships were before leaving for Kerberous was a welcome story addition (also greatly needed from a character stand point in my opinion. Shiro was starting to get a touch...mythical). So with what we saw of Shiro and Adam was a fight about Shiro wanting to do the Kerberous Mission, followed later by Adam passing in a first wave offensive and later with Shiro realizing that Adam died, yeah... I see why a lot of people are upset. And if you are upset, I completely understand. You have every right to be upset. But here’s the thing.  Sending hate or being nasty to the writers and the cast isn’t going to help. What will help is giving actual feedback to Dreamworks and the writers. Whatever passion you feel for the show will come through, but an off the hip reaction doesn’t give someone a lot to go off of. Being calm and concise does though. Again, you can be disappointed and upset, but you can voice it in a way that doesn’t come off as an attack (which is what a lot of initial criticism read to me).  Joaquim Dos Santos, an executive producer of Voltron, wrote a wonderful open letter to the fandom addressing all this that you should read. A lot of it puts a number of things into clearer light.(https://twitter.com/JDS_247/status/1029181981572050945)  And I don’t want to get tin-foil-hat on you guys, but something tells me that the writers and producers had to fight to get ANY LGTB+ representation in, let alone confirm it. Which is sad, but Voltron is still a kids show. And I wouldn’t be surprised that some stuffy, out of touch white guys in suits said that you can’t do the gay thing because children can’t be corrupted or some similar bullshit. So be mad, be upset, be loud. But be loud at Dreamswork.  Honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if the writers and producers were showing all this backlash to the suits and going “YOU HAVE TO LET US GIVE THEM THE GAY FOR SEASON EIGHT. LOOK AT HOW MUCH THE AUDIENCE IS DEMANDING IT! THESE ARE THE PEOPLE BUYING THE MERCHANDISE FOR FUCKS SAKE!!!” Because I sure as fuck would.
And with that out of the way, let’s move on to some positive things!
This season was actually well-written. Were there mis-steps? Yes, but again (and getting a litte tin-foil-hatty here), I feel like certain elements were probably more studio driven than writer driven (looking at you Axca and your weird stares at Keith!). But overall this season was excellently written. The stakes were kept high, there was tension throughout, and the comic-relief episode was a wonderful play on fan headcannons (making Keith a terrible artists is something I’m still laughing about). And yeah, the last few episodes can be a little too similar thanks to all the action scenes, but at least the stakes were upped at each turn. And also, what better way to introduce the new big-bad than right after defeating Sendak?! It subverts the exception of a huge celebration with showing our heros that they may not have the chomps to fight against this new threat (which, let’s be real, it’s most likely Lotor and/or Haggar. If it’s not either of them, I will be thoroughly surprised).
One of my favorite things from season seven though is that is explores what happens after a major political leader of an empire is killed. It would have been so easy just to have another galra take the reigns of the Zarkon’s empire, but the writers went with the harder option of a bloody fallout. They showed a world/universe where people have formed their own factions and fighting for power, along with the mess that that creates. You honestly don’t see that a lot in fiction, let alone fiction aimed for younger audiences.
And let’s talk about episode five for a hot minute. It’s been a long time since I was legit terrified from a children’s show. Like since Avatar: The Last Air Bender (that blood bending episode still gives me chills). The set-up and pacing is so perfect. Starting light before slowly turning tragic, which only leads to the sheer-terror of not only the situation, but of how brutal and cruel the universe has gotten in Voltron’s absence. With so little, it makes the viewer question of what’s happened to other allies of Voltron. And considering it follows the game show episode, it’s the hard left turn I personally wasn’t expecting. But I’m not going to lie, it’s probably my favorite episode of the season. Also, I legit started tearing up when Keith called Krolia “Mom” and they hugged. While I wish there was more mother-son moments in general when in comes to Keith and Krolia, I think that moment alone showed how much Keith has grown. He may still have some abandonment issues, but it’s clear that the trust he has in his family is helping him overcome that. That he trusts Krolia to come back and that he trusts his team/new family to be there for him. And I’m hoping we get that explored some more in season eight. (#MoreActualSpaceMomPlease)
There’s also the fact that they made the four years of Sam Holt’s time back on Earth engaging to watch. While I think we all knew that they were going to explain what Sam, the Garrison, and Earth in general was doing before Voltron arrived, I was worried how they would handle this. This is exposition that’s very easy to make clunky and a slog to get through. I was worried even when the first shot was “Four Years Earlier...”. Even with two episodes dedicated to some very important exposition, this is stuff that I think any writer can tell you is tricky to pull off. Yes, Sam is Pidge and Matt’s father, and we get the bonus of Lance’s sister Veronica (#BestBigSister #MoreVeronicaAndLanceSeasonEight), people who we’re emotionally invested in because members of the core cast are, but this is still focus away from characters we’ve gotten to know and love for six seasons.  These two episodes had to not only re-familiarize us with character we met briefly in season five, but had to reintroduce us to characters we’ve really only seen in episode one with brief cameos in various flashbacks, introduce us to both new characters and the command structure of the Garrison. And that’s a lot to do in less than a total of forty minutes. So the fact that it’s engaging and does not only that, but also clearly gives and raises the stakes for the rest of the season without ham-fisting it is impressive. We knew that Voltron was going to have to save Earth thanks to the trailer, but we didn’t know how dire the situation was going to be when we returned to Earth. Even though these were the episodes that Adam died, I still found myself emotionally invested.  If anything, its inspired me to write AU fanfiction where I take all the ‘humans are space orcs and Earth is a death planet’ ideas and put them in there, having Sendak and the Galra lowkey realize that the Lions of Voltron probably chose the most-level-headed humans to the be the paladins because fuck man, earthlings be terrifying and maybe we should leave??? (I’m serious about this bit. I’ve been going through all my saved screen-shot pins of them on pinterest and making note of which ones I want to use)
I like how we get to see more of the relationships between all of Team Voltron and the core casts’s family. I like that we got to see more of Hunk’s story and how Lance’s relationship with his siblings is very much the same as Keith and Shiro’s in terms of the emotional bonds (seriously, the paralles between Lance and Keith when their siblings (or if you’re a Sheith shipper, loved ones) are in danger is great. The Klance shipper in me is on the floor in tears crying about how these two boys will sacrifice themselves if it meant that their loved ones would live. Thanks for emotionally wrecking me on that Voltron writers). I love that we got to see Colleen Holt reunite with her husband and straight up go “FIGHT ME”  and win when Garrison command tells her she can’t stay because protocol, along with her being active in her own way. When she and Sam broadcast to their entire planet that an alien invasion is imminent, she doesn’t shy away from being the one to drop this bombshell. From the text, it appears that she fought long and hard trying to figure out what happened to her family long before Sam came back, I love that about her. She just wants to know her family is safe, or at least get some potential closure if their not, and she never backed down from that fight. So it’s great to see that reunion. And, quick aside, it’s clear from the visual text that she and Sam have a beautifully healthy relationship despite their years apart and they emotionally support one another. And I hope that we see more of that in the next season. And I’ve got high hopes for season eight for so many more reasons!
So now I guess I should address the one relationship that I said I would talk about at the start of all this.  Shiro and Adam.
Okay, so some of you may have already read my thoughts on an earlier post how how I didn’t believe we were going to get a tearful and heartfelt reunion between the two. (here’s the link if you want to read it in full: http://kirika-hime.tumblr.com/post/176794551537/okay-before-season-7-of-voltron-is-up-ive-got-a  It’s long, so sorry about that, but I’m going to be referencing it a bit here) And even with what little was given to us or even what could have been given to us, I can’t fully get behind Adam.
Yes, we pretty much just got a fight, but hear me out for a moment. First things first, that fight, when you’re paying attention to it, actually sounds like a fight between two adults who care for each other and have been gone over the topic ad nauseam. Adam sounds tired. Shiro sounds tired and frustrated. The topic of Shiro going on the Kerberous Mission when his health is probably beginning to decline is clearly something that has truly strained their relationship. The acting and the animation show that with so little. And here’s the thing with that, it makes me asks a lot of big questions. If Shiro had stayed and they had gotten married, would that strain still be there? Would Shiro potentially resent Adam for convincing him not to go on the mission? If he does, does that strain begin to grow into a rift? What if their relationship was already showing some cracks in the foundation and they didn’t realize it? What if the fight and their split actually healthy for the two of them?  Would Sam and Matt still have gone the Kerberous Mission? And if they did, would Matt still even be alive? Would Sam find a way to escape? What about Pidge? Colleen? What happens to them? If Pidge is still demanding for answers, does Shiro demand for them as well? Does their relationship change? Does Pidge and Keith’s relationship change? Does Shiro get kicked out of the Garrison instead of Keith? Does Pidge still disguise herself And what about Voltron? Would the Blue Lion have been found at all? Or would Zarkon have found the others, including the Black Lion? Because if that’s what could happen, what does that mean for Allura and Coran? What does that mean for Earth? For Lotor and the Alteans he deceiving and manipulating? What about Romelle? What would have happened to her if Keith and Krolia never found her?
And I know a lot of these questions probably seem dumb and fanficcy to a lot of people, but I think they’re legit questions fans should ask. A lot of this story hinges on Shiro, Sam, and Matt going on the Kerberous Mission when you boil it down. So it’s important to explore how certain characters made certain decisions.  I don’t doubt that Shiro went on the Kerberous Mission to fulfill his dream one last time. He had no way of knowing that he was going to be abducted. But I’m positive that he wanted to be out in space one last time. I don’t think it was about breaking records, like Adam seemed to suggest. I think it was one man trying to get as much joy and fulfillment out of his life before he was fully confined by his illness. Shiro didn’t want to have any regrets when that time came. And possibly, he wanted to show Keith that even when the deck is stacked against him, he could still do amazing things. And it’s also selfish. Which is great because it gives Shiro a character flaw! And we can see how it shapes him when rewatching previous seasons. The guilt he feels from how he left things with Adam, of how he left Keith behind, probably drove a lot of his decisions and choices during his time as a prisoner and as the Black Paladin. Adam may have said that he wouldn’t be waiting for Shiro when he returned, but that still doesn’t mean Shiro wants him, anyone, to experience the horrors of war. Not when he potentially keep that from happening. As a Paladin, he can potentially redeem a lot of his perceived mistakes. That’s what makes Shiro interesting! (It’s also what makes him so difficult to write)
Adam is in his right to not want to put up with Shiro’s selfishness.  But I still hold from one argument from my previous post, that Adam gave up on Keith.
Now a lot of this is on assumptions and personal interpretation of the text (both actual words and visually) that’s been given to us, but I stand by that Adam gave up on a kid who needed him. No matter how you view Shiro and Keith’s relationship, Keith’s important to Shiro. He saw a lot of potential in a lonely child who, more than anything, needed someone to care about him beyond questioning if he was going to get into trouble or not. And as Shiro got closer to Keith, he saw a child who needed a family. A person who he could turn to when things started getting rough, for someone to be in his corner.  Keith at a young age was difficult to get along with, the first episode of this season showed us that. He’s closed off, kids his age don’t really want to take the time to understand him, and it seems that most adults aren’t willing to invest in the time to tease and pull out his strengths or see the kid that feels deeply for his loved ones. Keith has a lot of emotional baggage, and combine it with whatever possible galra childhood tendencies he might have that no one could have known about, you have a really tough job on your hands. And that’s what makes Keith and Shiro’s relationship so powerful. That Shiro was able to see the potential in him. Not just to be a great pilot, but to be a great and loving person. Shiro never gave up on him.
But Adam did. Not once during episode seven or eight do we see Adam inquire after Shiro or Keith. Something that would have been so easy to include, and it never happened.  Adam no doubt was the first person Shiro talked to when it came to Keith (followed most likely by Sam, because, hey. Sam’s got two kids, he’s gotta know a thing or two about parenting overly-talented children, right?). He probably tried to get feedback, ideas, even confirmation on how he was interacting and raising Keith. And considering how close Keith and Shiro are, Adam definitely met and interacted with Keith.  Adam may not have fully agreed with Shiro pseudo-adopting Keith, but he saw how close the two were. He knew that Shiro was trying to give Keith the tools to succeed in life and get him out of a system that clearly did not care for him. And that could have been part of the reason why Adam loved Shiro.  Like I said in my first post, I fully believe that Shiro asked Adam to look after Keith while he was gone. I still believe that Keith acted similarly to Pidge in trying to get answers after Kerberous went belly-up. And I still fully believe that when Keith was kicked out of the Garrison and left homeless. And I still fully believe that Adam did nothing to help. Nothing that was given to us indicates that Adam tried to reach out and support Keith when Shiro disappeared.
In fact, I’m more angry at Adam now than before season seven was released. He understandably ended things with Shiro. He was tired of watching the man he loved putting his personal goals/desires before his health and couldn’t watch anymore. He told Shiro that he wouldn’t be waiting for him anymore. And I get that.  That sucks. Watching a person you love potentially destroying themselves hurts. The more you care about them, the more it hurts. But Adam, whether he meant it or not, included Keith in that. He cut Keith out of his life too. I don’t have any doubt that Keith tried to get Adam to help him in finding answers. Keith probably had his fair share of fights with Adam, trying to appeal to him that Shiro was too of a pilot for there to be an error, illness or not. That they have a right to know what happened to a person they love.  And Adam shut him out. He abandoned Keith. Whether it was to deal with his own emotional pain over Shiro’s disappearance or that he never cared for Keith in a similar way that Shiro did, I don’t know. But his response was to abandon a child he knew had no one. We get no indication that Adam opened up his home for Keith, or that he tried to find out where Keith went when he left for the desert.  And that’s what makes me angry. Is that Adam, whether he felt equipped to deal with Keith’s problems or not, abandoned a child who needed support more than ever. He didn’t have to care about Keith like a brother or a son, but he could have saw someone who was hurting as much as he was. Adam could have tried to talk to Keith and give him support. They could have potentially healed together over the loss of Shiro. But Adam let a young teenager, a child, feel abandoned once more and homeless on top of that.
I can’t forgive him for that. Nothing in the text, via words or visually, indicates that Adam tried to help or be there for Keith. And I really wanted to like Adam, but what I’ve got to work with says otherwise.  Who knows, maybe season eight will prove me wrong. But until then, I just can’t.

Get to know the author
Got tagged by @unfocused-notwriter AGES ago~ (thank you!!)
I’ll tag @breakeven2007, @elliewritesstories, and @amerraka, but only if you want to do this along with anyone else if you’d like~!
1. Is there a story you’re holding off on writing for some reason? I have a strong urge to write sci-fi someday, but I'm waiting to finish Mercy. It would be difficult to work on two complicated stories at once. 2. What work of yours, if any, are you embarrassed about existing? Probably this short story I wrote for a stupid creative writing class about a spiteful guy named "Dusty Wolf"... That explains a lot, doesn't it? 3. What order do you write in? Front of book to back? Chronological? Favorite scenes first? Something else? Front to back. I've attempted to write out of order and have also started from the ending-forward, but these do not work for me. If the beginning isn't solid, I can't move on for some reason. 4. Favorite character you’ve written? It's a tie between Joey and Edith. They're both fun to write because they have such bold, colorful personalities, and I'm introverted. They give me the chance to speak whatever comes to mind without holding back no matter how mean or inappropriate. 5. Character you were most surprised to end up writing? Rowan, because I actually hate her? Jessyka! She's got the most shocking motives and is relentless and unapologetic for the messed up things she does. In general, there's a lot to explore through her, even though she's not like the characters I normally write at all. 6. Something you would go back and change in your writing that it’s too late/complicated to change now? The origin story with the Creator. Originally, there wasn't an origin story at all and everything in Mercy just existed without a higher entity (besides angels and demons, but they didn't have a purpose) so I came up with a Goddess to balance out the emptiness and also provide a rational for everything that happens. I'll just say that there's a lot of simplifying that needs to be done, but its a lot to fix. 7. When asked, are you embarrassed or enthusiastic to tell people that you write? I'm enthusiastic until they ask me what I'm working on or if the questions "will you write this for me/will you add me in as a character" comes up. 8. Favorite genre to write? I've always been comfortable with fantasy, but I really want to write sci-fi and I wouldn't mind exploring horror (It just sounds difficult to create fear through words for some reason. Kudos to horror writers.) 9. What, if anything, do you do for inspiration? Listening to music, reading a book, watching a movie, watching an anime, talking to a friend, reading over old ideas, Ted-Talks/inspiration videos in general, and if possible going outside (whether it be going to the store or walking around) all help me get inspired. 10. Write in silence or with background music? Alone or with others? I always listen to music if possible, usually one song on loop. I normally write alone, but I don't mind being around others. Having company is comforting, but I don't write around my friends often enough to be affected. (I MISS THEM A LOT THOUGH :””^>) 11. What aspect of your writing do you think has most improved since you started writing? The character development has grown a lot, so its not writing with my characters is not like puppetry anymore. Also, the plot is driven by character actions and motives which was really hard to plan out, but worth it. 12. Your weaknesses as an author? Descriptions (especially with setting) and actually writing. I get stuck on opening easily, so I still have to learn how to move on and finish my drafts instead of starting over because of one sentence. 13. Your strengths as an author? I think I have succeeded with character creation and depth. I'm extremely attached to my children and I hope readers will feel the same way someday. They don't feel fictional to me, they are actual people. I love them a lot :^) 14. Do you make playlists for your work? I try to. The longest playlist I have for Mercy only has 10 songs on it and their more like...character theme songs if they were to have them. I have a huge playlist of my favorite songs that I listen through when I write, but I guess that isn't made for just writing so.... 15. When did you start writing? In third grade, we had a project to write a story in class, and I really liked the feeling of making something up as I sat in the coatroom. I also made a Deviantart in that same year and I started RP-ing before I got banned for being under-aged but that's where I really kicked off. (Around fourth or fifth grade, I made the initial premise for Mercy) 16. Are there characters that haunt you? Rowan. I'm just gonna name the ones I remember: Lyra, Haru, Kavanaugh, Avery, Iren, Zaire & Lucas, and Wisteria. 17. If you could give your fledgling author self any advice, what would it be? Keep. The. Beginning. Keep. Writing. Its. FINE.
and don’t feel bad for saying no to people when they ask to be/make characters for your story. 18. Were there any works you read that affected you so much that it influenced your writing style? What were they? No books off the top of my head, but anime wise, Cowboy Bebop has become a standard/major influence for me. I love the story line and the character and the theme behind the entire show. And the soundtrack is pure gold. 19. When it comes to more complicated narratives, how do you keep track of outlines, characters, development, timeline, etc? I just write everything down in writing notebooks or on new documents or whatever. Sometimes I can keep an idea in my head. Everything random and unorganized to be honest. I really should consider fixing that, but I don't have time. :"} 20. Do you write in long sit-down sessions or in little spurts? Both! Sometimes I can get into a deep writing kick for a few hours, and other times I write more within a 15 minute break. Just depends on my mood and if there are things stealing my attention. 21. What do you think when you read over your older work? Either "This is actually trash. Why did I write this? I'm so glad I've improved from this." Or "WHAT THE HECK THIS IS ACTUALLY REALLY GOOD WOW WILL I EVER BE ABLE TO REACH THIS LEVEL AGAIN? I'M GONNA PUT THIS IN THE NEW DRAFT!!!" 22. Are there subjects that make you uncomfortable to write? Romance and anything of the like. Its difficult for me, but for some reason I still try and the outcome is always disappointing. :"^) 23. Any obscure life experiences that you feel have helped your writing? I don't wanna get too detailed here, but pretty much my home environment is toxic and is not a fun place to grow up in, so Mercy is like my vent space. Silas is literally a punching bag if you didn't notice. I think he goes through as much as he does because its my way of releasing negative energy in a positive, harmless way. 24. Have you ever become an expert on something you previously knew nothing about, in order to better a scene or a story? My favorite thing to teach people is the difference between a graveyard and a cemetery because Silas is a grave digger. (P.S., a graveyard is connected to a church, and a cemetery is not. Silas works in a cemetery.) I also know a lot of cocktails (for Misha's sake as a bartender) even though I don't plan on drinking in the future. 25. Copy/paste a few sentences or a short paragraph that you’re particularly proud of. "It was clear from the air on his breath that he was a Jinx as well, but one who wasn't jaded. He told Silas one day that he was "too cold" to let hatred and bitterness consume him. At first, he thought that was a joke, but over the course of sitting next the boy at lunch and shivering in the middle of the summer, he found this to be true. He was the embodiment of ice, as Silas would say, but Dei insisted that he call him the host of winter instead. That was his magic ability."

ROASTING A BNHA OC - Nakajimi Aiko
HI YES WE AREN’T DEAD.
We were patiently waiting all this time! You know why? Because the second season of BNHA is out, and since - it seems - we mostly do BNHA on here, then why not wait until some new ocs would come out.
And who are we presenting to you today?
Tumblr media
suukiishie-create’s character, Nakajimi Aiko. This is gonna be one hell of a ride.
Mod Cloud -
Okaaaaaay I'm all fired up !! Yep, this time I'm opening the clash, let's go, shall we ?
Biographical Information
Japanese Name: 中島愛子 Rōmaji Name: Nakajima Aiko Alias: Chīsana Kyojin ( 小さな巨人/ The Little Giant )
> The Little Giant, well that's cute as fuck but I'm sure there's much more names to choose, it's kinda common. ( Just think about the one in Haikyuu, or the soccer team in Inazuma Eleven, for instance... )
Personal Description
Birthday: January 20th Age: 15 Gender: Female Hair Color: Pale Orange
> In all honesty, I was sure she was blonde. Pale Orange is a great color but well... Where's the orange in her hair ? Just say "blonde" and we'll stop here.
Eye Color: Dark Brown Blood Type: A+
Quirk: Size Manipulation / Healing
> HOLY MOTHER FUCKING SHIT. You’re joking, aren’t you ? Really ? But WHY does BnHA OCs NEEDS to have TWO FUCKING Quirks for Arceus' sake ??? I mean, look, size manipulation is already a really nice power but why does she needs to get something else — healing to be precise — to look more badass and shit ? I'm sure healing Quirks are kinda uncommon and it's really — sorry but I can't tell what I think otherwise — stupid to give a power like that without real reason. ( In fact there is below, but for me, it's awful shit. )
Status Status: Alive Occupation: Student Department: Department of Heroes Class: 1 – A Affiliation: Yuuei
Classical shit. :)
Family: Nakajima Hiro (father – Transformation Quirk); Nakajima Kaguya (mother – Quirkless); Shūzenji Chiyo (maternal grandmother – Healing Quirk – Alias: Recovery Girl)
> I'm fucking dying. Recovery Girl, really ? If your OC is Chiyo's grand-child, she should have the same quirk as her, no ? It's fucking logical, I don't even understand why does Recovery Girl is in her bloodline when Aiko has a size manipulation Quirk. The pro hero is just an excuse for « allowing » her to get healing powers. B U L L S H I T.
Love Interest: Bakugou Katsuki
> Like 90% of female OCs (including me) I'm not even surprised. ( Roast asked me to guess with whom that OC was in love. I should have done a bet with them, I won lmao. ) [ Mod Roast: I can confirm and thank god we didn’t LMAO ]
Personality Multiple; Sarcastic; Loud Mouth; Perverted; Sweet; Loyal; Temperamental; Confident
> What is this shit ? Sweet and Perverted aren't AT ALL in the same register, it's awkward for fuck's sake. And I don't get it, « Multiple » ? Does she have some issues as regards her behavior ? Not like bipolarity or whatever but something in that case ? I hope it's written below.
When you first meet her, she comes off as overly dramatic, usually spewing profanity and loves calling hot guys “daddy” out loud.
> Ahem. I'll say nothing about the daddy kink but it's really awkward when we saw her appearance. She looks like a pre-teen, for Aizawa's sake ! [ Mod Roast: And also she’s 15. Everyone there is 15 or 16. Please. DON’T call children ‘daddy’ or ‘mommy’. PLEASE. ]
She has a tendency to fall in love too quickly, and is very protective and jealous over her love interests.
> I like this part, I admit it. (Not because my baby is jealous as fuck over her boyfriend because she feels too insecure, no no)
Her size manipulation is tied into her emotions, so it is very common for her to shrink and grow randomly throughout the day.
> Well, that's nice to know but why is that iin her personality description ? You can explain that her Quirk is linked to her emotions or something like that, but I think it's not useful to say in that way she is changing her size whenever she feels anger or happiness, I don't know. Maybe you can develop the idea and change the way you have explain that part. That'll be better and more interesting.
She may be over the top and crazy, but she has an amazing heart and is the best friend anyone could ask for, going completely out of her way for loved ones. Basically if you can get past the initial judgement she is bae. (This description was not written by me)
> It's not bad at all, but I think «judgment» is a bit too much. She is a selective person ? You don't explain it, so I don't fully understand your OC's personality. Oh well, that's maybe because this description isn't even a description. For instance, mine are LITTERALLY a novel. Ask Roast if I'm lying, they always read my shit when I'm finishing my OCs' datas. [ Mod Roast: YOU COULD MAKE A FUCKING BIBLE WITH ONE OF HER DESCRIPTIONS. Mod Cloud is a MONSTER. ]
What. It's your OC and you haven't wrote it by yourself ? I don't judge it because you may have faith in your friend's ability in writing — and that's nice of you — but you haven't put something else in the paragraph ? You just copy-pasted it and that's done ? I really feel stupid to be honest ‘cause I'm roasting your OC but you didn’t even wrote the whole thing and I'm doing a critic about your friend's work. Your OC is even worse than I thought, because you didn’t even take the time to use your friend's work to develop better your OC.
History Before joining U.A., she had a relatively normal childhood, considering her mother is Quirkless.
> What's the problem with the fact that her mother is Quirkless ?
Her father has worked with her since she was a young child to try to teach her how to control her size manipulation. Her father is a huge pervert, which really helped shape her personality.
> That's nice her father has an influence in her character, even if it's not in the best way lmao. [ Mod Roast: It’s also pretty disgusting that she was influenced in that way, yuk. Like that’s her father, for fuck’s sake. Don’t talk about boobs and daddy kinks with your fucking father. HE SHOULD ACTUALLY DO THE OPPOSITE, LIKE, THAT’S ALSO A FATHER’S JOB. ]
She has never met her maternal grandparents, after hearing about her grandfathers death she decided to seek out her grandmother, wanting to build a relationship with her, though she only knows her real name, not her alias, only knowing she works at U.A, which is why she chose this school.
> I almost laughed, it looks like a stalker's story. That's almost ridiculous, that's the only reason she enteed Yuuei ? Don't you know that phones and Internet and rendez-vous exists ? That's pretty awkward.
Her mother ran away as a child because she was Quirkless and felt like she was letting her mother down though it wasn’t something she could control.
> Just what the fuck is this thing ? Recovery Girl isn't the kind of person who thinks that way, I'm almost sure. Plus that's useless, you put those words here and that's it. That's  not even a story, that's too short. Work on it for Bakugou's short sake, I feel ashamed like crazy. [ NMod Roast: Recovery Girl being someone who works in the medical department, it’s very unlikely she would be mean with quirkless people. Just saying. It’s like saying that a doctor would discriminate a patient because they have an handicap. ]
And yeah, that’s- that’s it, there’s nothing else to day, I’m done.
Mode Roast -
Oh boy of boy, with what shoudl I begin. Well with the beginning of course ahaha, hm sorry. I lied we’re going to begin with the quirk.
Quirk and Abilities Body Size Transformation (Bodi Saizu Henkan / ボディサイズ変換 ): The ability to resize your body at any time, making one-self extremely small or large at will. Healing ( Hīringu / ヒーリング ): The ability to heal others by touching them with the palm of the hand. Healing is limited and only works in small spurts. --hand me down power from an relative. Strength Proportioning (Kyōdo Puro Po /  強度プロポ): Her strength is proportionate to whatever size her body is, i.e. she will not have super human strength if she is shrunken down to the size of a flea.
WE’RE STARTING WELL IT SEEMS. Do I really need to explain why the “strenght proportioning” isn’t a quirk? That shit’s normal. Did you know that a spider’s web is one of the most resistant materials? But why can a person break it easily? Because of our size too baby, boom. If you piut more strigns together, it’ll be more resistant. So sorry to break it to ya but that ain’t a quirk.
Also why the fuck does she needs two quirks. She can already become gigantic and small at will, like, isn’t that enough?! A character doesn’t need to have two or more quirks to be strong, look at the characters in the show! All of them have their unique ways to be strong in their own way, even the characters that aren’t in class A in the first place! And what’s that, a relative gave their powers to her? Don’t you know that only All Might has this kind of quirk with the One For All, as Izuku stated it in one of the episodes, that we never heard about a quirk that could be passed to someone else? Work more.
Other Statistics
-   Hero Status    - Power: 4/5 B Speed: 2/5 D Technique: 3/5 C Intelligence: 5/5 A Cooperativeness: 0/5 F
-   Fight    - Leadership: 5/5 Physical Strength: 4/5 Stamina: 3/5 Observation: 4/5 Agility: 3/5 Mental Strength: 3/5 Willpower: 5/5
Why is her cooperativeness so damn low, what does she wanna prove;; ALSO THIS IS BULLSHIT, SINCE HER LEADERSHIT IS 5/5. A leader also has to know how to cooperate, that is BASIC AS FUCK. And the fact that she seems unable to cooperate also makes me doubt about her super intelligence right there miss.
Trivia - Aiko is no.23 in Class 1-A. - Her name Nakajima Aiko 中島愛子  means Little Love Island ; her nickname is Ai. - She ranked 11th during the Entrance Exam, with 41 rescue points and 7 villain points. - She also ranked 11th for the Quirk Apprehension Test. - She uses mainly her Body Size Transformation Quirk to stay small. - She uses her Healing Quirk a lot in battle even though it drains her physical energy. - She uses her Body Size Transformation Quirk to become large as a last resort.
Yeah so 11 is kinda her lucky number I guess. That means she took Kouda’s place for the quirk apprehention test and someonelse’s place, isn’t that beautiful. Well it’s only natural since she’s in class A, right.
★ Conclusion:
Mod Roast: Bad. Bad. MS. Two quirks. Not developped enough. *sprays water* Go. Away.
Mod Cloud: Is that even an OC? Holy shit...

Give us a bulletpoint outline for what your character’s history might look like:
Conner was made in Cadmus labs by Lex Luthor using his own and Superman's DNA. He was initially to be a replacement for a 'dead' superman, which ended up being a complete failure given his lack of actual kryptonian abilities as well as not responding to mind control and being broken out early and escaping.
Conner is mixed and on the darker end of the spectrum, which is why he draws so much attention compared to friends like Bart who are on the same wavelength of obnoxious. On top of it, he's very out about being bisexual, which is a huge problem for most people since the last thing you need is someone who looks like a perpetual party boy kissing other boys on TV broadcasts. It's why some people can't stand him, even if Superman's initial stance on him didn't affect them. It's a race and queer thing, and he knows it is, but is very unapologetic about who he is.
Conner is closer than Lex than he is Clark for a variety of reasons; Clark initially rejected Conner, which forced him to go to Lex instead for practically everything from parental comfort to getting a piercing gun that would make it's way through his skin. He does easily find himself at odds with Lex given they both have different goals, but when it comes down to it, he knows he can count on Lex to have his back. He did initially get closer with Clark once he realized Conner wasn't completely terrible, but if he had to pick, Conner would still side with Lex in terms of the preferred parent.
He doesn't have superman's powers at all, but rather tactile telekinesis, which allows him to manipulate anything he touches, including himself. That's what gives him the ability to 'fly' and have 'super strength'. He is technically half kryptonian, meaning kryptonite weakens him, but he's 'normal' aside from that compared to other kryptonians.
Interview (Must be answered in character, third person, including both narrative and dialogue. Answer these as if you’re responding to a roleplay reply. Feel free to write as much as you like, but make sure there’s at least a good paragraph for each.)
What would it take for you to switch sides? (hero to villain; villain to hero; neutral to either)
"Well... Honestly?" Conner asked quietly, slouching back in his chair as if he was overly comfortable rather than off put at the question. "It's kind of something I quietly fight with all of the time." He admitted softly. "Heroes and villains are kind of this concept of right versus wrong, and if a lot of people think doing the right thing is wrong, then I guess I'm a bad guy." He quietly laced his gloved hands over his torso, as if preparing to settle in for a long nap. "Like with all of the current stuff going down on earth... Like Kaepernick for example-" He started, sitting up and holding his hands out to explain as if the answer was right in front of him. "The football guy who takes a knee over standing for the anthem? There are people who literally send this guy DEATH threats because of what he's doing. People think he's in the wrong- that he's a bad guy all for KNEELING because people are being KILLED. So again..." He shrugged quietly, as if it were obvious, yet terribly painful. "It's all perspective, so... it doesn't really matter- to some people we're ALREADY the bad guys. I'M already a bad guy..." He corrected softly, slouching forward on his knees and lacing his hands together, eyes locked on the floor. "As long as I'm doing what I want, it doesn't really matter... does it?" He asked, quietly looking up with a grin on his face, yet nothing about his expression said he thought this was funny- everything about it said this topic hurt.
How would you describe yourself? How would your friends describe you? How would the public describe you?
"Describe myself?" He asked with a laugh. "Dude, I’m a FULL TIME superhero and ‘Superboy’ is TRADEMARKED- Like there is an honest to god TM there, I'm a walking billboard for myself! Like I have friggin merchandise and shit, my guy. I don't HAVE to describe myself, Google me." He said with a hearty laugh as if this was genuinely funny to him. "My friends would probably say I'm a big meme, but it's whatever. If the worst they think I am is funny then I lucked out given genetics." He joked as if proving the point, giving a wide, brilliant smile. "The public's opinion can be swayed depending on the media they consume. I'm sure to some people I'm this really obnoxious punk kid who needs to get shot in the head," He made a gun motion and put it to the side of his head, sticking his pierced tongue out. "And I'm sure to others I'm a roll model- which is wild considering, but also at the same time like... I could be seriously worse." He leaned back with a wide grin, having fun with that question in particular, more than willing to show off his narcissism.
If you could gain any superpower/swap your superpower for another, what would it be and why?
"Oh man- actual Supes' powers, hands down." He quickly answered. "Like I'm basically a knock off man, everyone knows that. So like having legit xray vision that aren't in my shades or like heat ray vision or frost breath? A total package- the powers, I'm already the whole 9." He snickered, showing off his perfect teeth with a wide grin. "Sooo, this is where I make a plus one joke if you're free sometime." He added, winking at the interviewer.
What is a secret you have never told someone?
He paused, considering this. "...I mean a secret is generally something you try not to tell people, but... I mean considering, I guess now is a good a time as any to bring it up. Even people with super powers aren't like... invincible and unaffected. At the end of the day, we have to go home and deal with what happens, good or bad... and there's a lot of bad shit in there, you know?" He grumbled softly, shaking his head and resting his elbows on his knees. "Like you don't see the stuff we do- know people are being hurt and that you can help but for some reason couldn't and just... walk away from that unscathed. It messes you up. It's why good people go ape shit- they just can't do it anymore. You get PTSD and depression and like... I should probably be on meds or whatever, but..." He leaned back in his chair. "...Sometimes there are just days where I can't do sunshine and good times acts. Sometimes I gotta sit there for a week in the same shirt and not do my hair and live in a blanket cocoon while beating playing GTA seven times with some weird movie on in the back. I'm not always okay... and I guess the first step to handling that is to talk about it. I'm used to making a big scene, so... may as well let other people know that even superheroes need help some time, right?" He offered, giving an almost apologetic smile as if it was his fault he wasn't okay.
If there was one choice in your past you could change, what would it be?
He paused to think, reliving a few moments. "...I duuno. There's a lot of shit I probably shouldn't have done or changed." He admitted with a laugh. "Is this just one fuck up or can I fix a few? Because some part of me always regrets the firecracker incident." He said with a soundless snicker as he covered his hand with his mouth. "Uh... I'm not... gonna say what it is, but even though it's funny now it put my stupid ass in the hospital for a little bit because I'll basically let Tim talk me into anything because he's my favorite kind of cute." He couldn't help but snicker the entire time he was talking, occasionally pausing to wheeze at the memory. "Ohhh, man... I cannot believe I'm still such a hot mess, I'd probably still do that now if I got trashed enough because it's so funny. So I guess never mind on that? I dunno man there's serious shit I can think of too but like... Jeezus christ I can't even think now." He dissolved into laughter again, covering his face with his hand while he couldn't stop himself from laughing so hard.
If you had one day where you could do anything you want, free of consequences, what would you do?
Conner paused, thinking quietly about all of the good he could do. How he could handle the root issues of wars. How he could have Tim help him hack into obnoxiously rich people's bank accounts to solve socioeconomic issues- literally fix things like world hunger with that alone. How he could hurl some people into the sun- kiss girls and guys and anything in between without them getting upset for some reason or another. How he could take a damn day off without feeling guilty about it- maybe catch up on playing some NES games he hadn't touched in a while. So many ideas came to mind at the concept of it being 'consequence free'. But no. He could do something much more devastating. Something that would state the little terror that was always nagging at him to shove someone off of a roof or punch someone into a yard or steal a dog just because it was cute. A wide grin grew on his face that said he was very much Lex as he was Clark. "...I'd give Lex Luthor a wedgie so hard he's underwear would rip and then would leave him hanging from some really public place where everyone could see him." He couldn't help but laugh half way though his sentence, the idea fucking hysterical to him.
