tbh out of all the possible future caretakers of hunter, my primary hope for who will adopt him rn rly is camila. y'know, loved all the different possibilities too but…. camila ❤️❤️❤️ like, just. like. that's his MOMMMM

the vision of him living with camila (and luz and vee), going to hexside (cuz obv there's gonna a portal), and having a woodcarving mentorship under the clawthornes' and some mentorship under darius. and then once in a while occassionally staying over at the owl house.... Y'KNOW? so real.

camila's just too perfect of an option, LIKE. he spent months under her care already, he doesn't have even one bad experience with her that could possibly make him doubt and feel bad abt their relationship (no feeling like he needs to prove himself to gain her respect, no complicated past that'd have to be dealt with, no wondering if the care he's shown is genuine, no previous authority issues, no previous hostility etc etc) like camila's been extremely sweet and caring towards him and nothing else since the very start. it makes me sOO... 🤲😔❤️

the very first MOMENT they interact and hunter kneels in front of her out of respect she warmly tells him to never do it again; makes it clear that he doesn't have to be overly formal with her. just offers her kindness, expecting nothing in return. right away.

camila is probably the first adult ever that hunter associates with only warmth and goodness and whom he feels comfortable with from the start, with whom he doesn't have any past grudges or things they'd need to work out, just.. unconditional love. and justttt just just oughhhghh she called him baby. she's been basically treating him like her son already, and she's SUCH a good and supportive mom, to luz, to vee, to hexsquad. she taught him how to sew. she DIVED into FREEZING WATER at an OLD ABANDONED CEMETERY without a second thought in order to save him. JUST!!!!

him wanting to impress her with the spanish. her touching his shoulder and him showing not even an OUNCE of fear, just smiling and knowing she's not going to hurt him. him taking up interest in camila's and manny's old hobby. camila having experience with dealing with grief.. oof. him being happy living in the human realm (wanting to do things in the demon realm as well but having ties to BOTH worlds). even the fact that the entire noceda family is clearly neurodivergent, just like him. even him being an animal enjoyer and camila having a vet clinic, which- he WOULD LOVE to volunteer there in his free time, like?? COME ON.

AND THIS???? okay......

and we KNOW he WANTS to have a permanent family. it's established at the beginning of the episode when he looks sad as others hang up their family drawings. he wants ppl to care abt him, he wants to have a place to call home, wants to feel safe. he cries (from happiness) when luz calls him family.

and camila cares abt all of these kids so much. she was willing to take vee and hexsquad in JUST LIKE THAT. we can even assume her and manny wanted more kids, like just OUGHHGH she wouldn't even have to think twice before taking hunter in permanently. and she most likely knows hunter doesn't have anyone. she's not going to let him just….. go away on his own after everything is over, or make him move out or sth 💀 she'll want to help him, she'll want him to be safe and cared for.

like the only other possibilities for who else hunter could stay with after the show were: darius, eda/the clawthornes, or joint custody. but imo after... he lived under camila's roof for MONTHS, found a place that he feels safe in.. nocedas are just the best and healthiest option for him. after he'd spent MONTHS feeling happy with camila, i don't think it'd be good for him to be thrust into a completely new environment, and.. there's simply no time for his connection with other adults to be properly fleshed out, or to establish that he'd prefer anyone over nocedas.

like, i feel like sth has to happen with darius as well cuz their arc is unfinished, esp since it's been hinted they've grown closer since ASiAS, and there's a lot they could talk abt now re: grief + darius' mentor... so they HAVE to reunite at least. however, in my opinion at this point of the show there'd be just no time to conclude it as a parent-child bond in a satisfactory way. especially because there would be a LOT they'd have to work through first, considering their very complicated past.

like, all these years in the coven, their relationship pre-ASiaS, how darius treated hunter all these years... we know their relationship has progressed positively since ASiAS (even though mostly in the background/subtext) but still, i feel like it'd definitely take a while until hunter felt truly comfortable while living at darius'. he'd probably worry that it's conditional, could even easily fall back into his old coven mentality/habits, would try to make darius proud no matter what, etc. etc. it wouldn't be the healthiest for him. although eventually he would get comfortable, and that concept also had sm potential, but like the journey to that wouldn't be quick, and it'd have to be an arc on its own too. and, again, there is no time for that. rly cheering for a reunion and a talk, maybe even a mentorship of sorts, but considering hunter already has a place he feels fully comfortable in and ppl who consider him family right now, i feel like him ending in a completely new place after all that wouldn't be his #1 preferred option.

same with eda/the clawthornes tbh; it had sooo much potential and he is technically related to them AND is going to find that out soon, so some kinda interaction/development HAS to happen, and he did say he wants to learn how to carve palismen, so a mentorship may also happen... but as for actual adoption mm i don't think anything can come close to how safe and happy and Good he's felt for those months while under camila's care. again, in the future things COULD develop in such way, but considering we have two episodes until we get a conclusion... mmyeah

so................ yeah.

i just have so so so many thoughts abt hunter finding a family and getting to be a teenager and feeling loved and feeling like he has his own place in the world and being safe and allowed to explore his interests and to be himself........ hunter nocedaaaaa oughhghhh 🤲❤️

who you mind sharing some spiderdads headcanons you have, or do "the explain your otp in 5 minutes" meme? no pressure though! i love your art and fic too

im soooooo bad at this kind of question bc i kinda love thinking about a bunch of different/concurrent options like. you know how every fic is its own universe and you watch the same steps happen with little alterations so the same guys fall in love 101 times that's my brain... HOWEVER I've been thinking a LOT about ITSV Peter/Miguel lately --

Either comic-canon based settings where he's the usual single hero in his natural habitat OR directly /before/ ITSV itself; divorced midlife crisis spider-man who's always struggling to make rent is SUCH a good spot for Peter's stakes, and it sucks how people just want to make him rich or magically the avengers solve all his problems to basically erase what makes him compelling. I think its a good choice the spidey movies do -- to make it all a lot more ground-level, without outside interference -- so he has to make the tiny decisions.

Miguel getting stranded in the past!! HOW COME THERE'S SO LITTLE STUFF ABOUT MIGUEL AND PETER MEETING IN THE PAST? Doesn't need to be ATSV plotline compliant. A macguffin gets him there, or sends him to Peter's universe, come on! The important part is having them on a ground level sandbox.

THE REAL FUN STUFF: The cheesiest stupidest meetcutes you could ever imagine. Endless possibility. Spitballing: Peter/Miguel being unaware of each other's identities and renting the same apartment because neither of them has the funds to fly solo. Peter being suddenly spooked by the appearance of a brand new edgy spider-man in the vicinity. After all these years. Miguel not knowing how much he can say because Peter's sort of convinced this is a villain ploy of some sort to fuck up his public persona.

REAL-LIFE, both of them are suspicious about the other as a Weird Fidgety Roommate type. Neither can complain much because, again, it's rent on NY. You mind or business. or not.

Maybe Alchemax doesn't even exist in this universe, tipping Miguel off that this is an alternate timeline and he's really on his own. Maybe the ruling company here is Roxxon or Future labs or whatever; there's a lot of those in comics. He kind of HAS to eventually come clean about being universe-displaced to this world's Spider-man -- Peter begrudgingly accepting that there's a second spider-guy around on the condition that Miguel isn't gonna do anything catastrophic while he's here to completely blow up Peter's image, or give J.J. Jameson fodder to attack him.

Maybe they start working together. Maybe it's a casual partnerships thing where they happen to be tracking the same shady incident and decide to wrap it up as a duo; maybe they just agree to patrol the neighborhood together on busy weeks since they just.. suspiciously... seem to be around at the same place... at the same time... overly concerned abt the same shit....

Miguel has a superhuman investment in Not Letting This World Turn into a Future Dystopic Hellhole; Peter just kind of wants to live and solve problems as they come by but these two motivations really synergize. Peter doesn't even need to ask why, just damn okay dude!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Respect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1!1!!1!

Secret Identity investigations. Secret Identity mishaps. Secret Identity fumbles. Lyla accidentally busting out that Peter Parker is Spider-man via advanced facebook voice recognition fuckery. (LOL) Hell, maybe in THIS Miguel's version of 2099 it was already revealed Peter is spider-man, after he died. How'd he die? Maybe it was a bad end. How does Miguel feel about that? About meeting with a ghost? Endless possibility.

EVEN MORE FUN STUFF: both of these guys are *SO* intensely defined by a lack of support system around their secret identities. WALLOWING in guilt. Spider-man always seems to ruin their lives, in the worst ways. They're too proud to let normal people intervene, or the ppl themselves deeply resent the fact Spider-man exists. It's fun to think of a reversal scenario where Peter/Miguel have each other's backs, can help the other dress wounds, can show up in a pinch to prevent disaster from occurring with some supervillain 10 blocks away while Peter is trying to land a new job interview as a highschool teacher or science columnist. IDK It doesn't have to be constant uphill battle to get someone else to understand why they do what they do and what the stakes are; they're the same kind of crazy.

And okay, maybe you don't want the spidersonas falling in love before their real identities do..... still VERY ripe options around for Miguel sneaking home with a limp or a really fucked up arm and his healing factor isn't nearly as good as Spider-man Prime's, so Peter is like 'WHAT the FUCK happened to you?' And even though he can tell Miguel is lying. He is not going to bust him out for it. Because he's been lying for 20+ years. Instead, Peter just takes it upon himself to teach him how to get his shit fixed. Temporary armslings and icepacks and sprays and current-time medication that is different to what Miguel is used to in the future; friendly neighborhood Peter Parker who minds his business and will not ask you if you're secretly Daredevil for Reasons but that will, however, tell you to stop blocking attacks with your fucking head. He learned this lesson earlier than most superheroes.

(The reverse scenario is still sweet! Peter's taciturn roommate who wears sunglasses indoors and is weirdly secretive about everything seeing him come home with a busted out eye and hes like damn. Do you want to split a pizza or whatever. You look like shit)

Miguel is not actually as experienced as Peter! He /could/ use the tips!!! Peter has been Spider-man ever since he was 15 years old. Miguel became Spider-man due to a freak accident at MAXIMUM 4ish years ago. Probably less. Figuring out how to do it not alone would be genuinely a good experience for him.

Miguel moe x1000 as the future man who kinda doesn't get the weird counterintuitive way things work present-time 💔 flipside; Miguel seeing the beginnings of bad future patterns like musk trying to buy twitter and deciding to take matters into his own hands. sorry this is just hilarious to me. Even if he's not beating these guys up its still awesome to imagine him as an insane ranting tech essayist who goes on hour-long takedowns of NFTs on youtube or being like GOD WE NEED VACCINES TO BE COOL AGAIN FUCKKKK

Among all of this though, I think one of the most appealing aspects of having them as an unit is that they don't have to lone-wolf shit anymore. (and they Have been lonewolfing it for SO long.) Feels good feels organic

I could go on but I need to actually write and I just... think they can be so entertaining. We don't have to be so dependent on the movie here pulling from regular superhero shenanigans Really works. They sort of complete each other. Immediate productive boost on both of their morales. Get Peter/Miguel pilled with me rn

He’d been working long hours. He always worked long hours, but these had been even longer. It wasn’t uncommon for the two of you to only see each in passing on the days he was working his long shifts. Often it was only for a hello or goodbye, and a quick kiss. You could see that it was getting heavy and slowly draining him. You tell he had the weight of the world on his shoulders.

But Steve - Steve with his pure heart of gold - never took anything out on you. He could have been experiencing the absolute worst day, ready to explode, but he’d never do so much as snap at you or raise his voice. You wished there was something you could do for him. All you could do was try your best to support him. You tried to do it through things like making sure his lunch, or dinner, or breakfast was always prepared, that he always had fresh coffee, that his scrubs were clean. It still never felt enough, but you were trying. For him you would always try.

You weren’t sure how much longer he could continue on at this pace before it all became too much. 

Unfortunately it all came to a head one late evening.

It was late into the evening but you were still in bed, reading through a battered copy of Pride and Prejudice that you must’ve read a hundred times by now. You were vaguely aware of the front door opening, thinking nothing of it for a moment until you realized what you’d heard. Panic welled up as you jumped out of bed and tip-toed out into the hall to see what was going on. To your surprise, there was Steve, leaning against the door, a weary expression on his handsome face. 

“Stevie?” you asked softly, wasting no time in going over to him to see what was wrong. He looked up at you, dark circles on his red-rimmed eyes with a devastated expression on his face. He didn’t say anything, but he didn’t have to. You pulled him into your arms and held onto him tightly, wrapping him up in your arms and love. He clung onto you as tightly as possible, burrowing his face into your neck as he took a shaky breath in, “oh baby.”

You didn’t move, instead just holding him, rubbing his back in soothing patterns, softly whispering a few words of praise to him. At some point, he hadn’t been able to keep his emotions suppressed any longer, and he let it all out. He took a shuddering breath before the tears welled up and ran down his face. You felt them soak into your sweater - one that had belonged to him at some point - but none of it mattered. Your only concern was him; everything else was replaceable, but he was not. 

“My love,” you tenderly brushed your hand through his hair, lightly scratching at his scalp, “I’ve got you, Steve. Let it all out.”

One of the things you’d learned early in your relationship with your nurse, was that you shouldn’t tell people that it was okay or you’re okay. Because sometimes things weren’t okay, sometimes people weren’t okay. And that was okay - it was okay not to be okay. And right now, you knew your husband was very not okay.

After a little bit, the tears lessened and his breathing evened out. You pulled back for just a moment, touching his ruddy cheek tenderly before brushing away the half-dried tears. He preened into your touch, and sniffled slightly as you looked at him with adoration, “‘m sorry.”

“No sorries,” you insisted softly, “there’s absolutely nothing to be sorry for, love. Please don’t ever apologize for how you’re feeling.”

“I…” he inhaled and exhaled slowly before nodding, “I love you. So fucking much.”

“I love you,” you took his face gently in your hands before pressing soft kisses all over his cheeks, “so very much, Steve.”

“I-I don’t know what I’d do if something ever-”

“Shh,” you gently put a finger to his lips, “let’s not focus on that either.” 

“Can you…I don’t….know.”

“You always take care of me so well, my love. You’ve helped through so many colds, a broken ankle, a dislocated elbow, and so many more things. Plus, you show me so much love every single day,” you reminded him and you saw the faintest bit of a smile tug up the corner of his mouth, “let me take of you, baby.”

“Please,” he nodded as every last little bit of his guard went down and he almost fell into your arms. You did your best to hold him, before slowly shuffling towards the bathroom. You flicked on the light and settled him on top of the toilet, before silently moving to run a bath, filling it with the bubbles that he loved but would never admit to. 

After making sure it was the perfect temperature, you turned to your husband and gently tugged at the hem of his top, taking it off once he silently obliged. Holding out your hand, you helped him to his feet before removing the rest of his clothing before he stepped into the bathtub. He settled down into the warm, softly scented water, closing his eyes as he rested against the cool tile. 

“I don’t know if a bath fixes or solves anything, but it always comforts me,” you mused as you sat on the floor next to the tub, leaning against the edge.

“Mammalian Diving Reflex,” he whispered as a small smile settled on his face, “it’s a biological response. Water comforts us from an evolutionary standpoint - from before we evolved to live on land.”

“Interesting,” you thought about what he said and nodded, “makes sense, even if I don’t understand all the nuances. Teaching me something new all the time, my love.”

“It’s helping,” he reached for your hand, which you eagerly offered him, threading your fingers together as he rested them at the edge of the tub, “you’re helping.”

“I’m always here for you,” you promised, “always, forever, whenever.”

“I know,” he nodded, blinking back a fresh wave of tears as he looked at the ceiling, “w-will you come in? With me?”

“Yes,” you agreed, “of course.”

You rose to your feet and slowly stripped off your pajamas, tossing them into the pile with his clothes. You took his proffered hand and slowly got into the water, sitting into between his long legs. You looked at him, looking at him softly and relaxed, “thank you.”

“There’s nothing to thank me for,” you took his hand and pressed a small kiss to his knuckles, “I love you, Steve, and I want to take care of you, just like you take care of me.”

“I’m so lucky you came into my life,” his hands settled on your waist as he pulled towards him, perching you on top of his thighs. He was craving closeness, wanting to feel your skin on his, the tender intimacy of being together.

“I came into your life because I’m a clumsy fool,” you grinned, “and you happened to be on duty. It was a happy twist of fate…even if it did take what felt like five hundred years for my ankle to get better.”

“We’d have met some other way,” he insisted firmly, affection lacing his tone, “I’m sure of it.”

“Yeah,” you nodded sweetly, “I like to think so too. You’re my soulmate, Steve Harrington. Now, will you let me take care of you? Wash your hair and body?”

“Yes,” his big brown eyes were so soft and tender as he shyly nodded, “I’d really like that.”

You took your time to take care of Steve. You washed his hair, taking your time to make it more like a relaxing massage than anything else. You followed up with conditioner to keep his pretty head of hair nice and smooth. You scrubbed every inch of his skin with reverence, trying to strip away every last bad thought and moment of the day to create a renewed sense of stillness. 

When you were thoroughly satisfied with how clean he was, his cheeks fresh and pink, and eyes growing more tired, you dried him off and put him into a pair of clean pajama pants and sweater. You followed suit with your own pajamas and crawled into bed, motioning for him to join you. 

You normally took the place of the small spoon, but tonight you pulled him into your arms, cuddling him into your soft, pliant warm body. You kept your breathing steady and even as he rested his head on your chest, hoping it would lull him to rest. You were running a hand through his slightly damp locks, humming softly to soothe him.

Luckily, it felt like he was managing to relax. It was silent for some time, only the faint chirping singing of the nighttime insects and creatures floating into the room, a faint golden glow coming from the bedside table. You were wide awake and you’d remain wide awake all night if you had to in order to make sure he was taken care of and able to rest. 

He broke the silence after some time, tightening his grip on, grounding himself in your essence, “I was sent home tonight.”

You swallowed thickly, mind already reeling with possibilities; he’d never been asked to leave work before. You didn’t push him, didn’t want to make him uncomfortable, but in the end he always told you what was going on, “I…I lost a patient today.”

“Oh,” you choked up almost immediately. You couldn’t even begin to fathom how that felt, how he felt. All you knew was that it would never, ever, be anything short of devastating.

“It was a child,” he confessed almost like it was some sort of sin that he needed to atone for you, “a girl, only seven.”

“Steve,” he’d sat up by now and was looking at you with glistening eyes and trembling lips, “oh, my love.”

“She was so young,” he sniffled, “so small. And I…I couldn’t…there was nothing we could do. But I tried so hard, I-I did everything I could and it still wasn’t enough.”

“Steve…” you touched his face, unsure of what to say. You weren’t sure if there was anything you could say to make it better, “I am so sorry that you had to go through that. I’m sorry to her family…I can’t even begin to imagine how you or they feel.”

“I didn’t do enough,” the tears rolled down his cheeks and all you could think to do was to wrap your arms around him and pull him tightly into your body, “it’s not fair. Why her?”

“Steve,” you couldn’t help but cry along with him, wishing you could take some of the emotion and burden off his shoulders and onto yours, “oh Steve. I know you, and I know you did everything you could.”

“But it wasn’t-”

“It wasn’t your fault, Steve,” you pressed a kiss to the side of his head, “I know that me saying that doesn’t help, and doesn’t make it better but it’s true. You do everything with your whole heart, and I know you’d never give up.”

“Her parents…the looks on their faces…I don’t think I’ve ever seen that much pain,” he clutched onto you like you were his lifeline, the only thing keeping him in check, “I’ve never…never had to…fuck.”

“Shhh,” you swallowed the lump in your throat, “let it all out. Just let it go, you’re safe here.”

SJM + Eugenics + Ableism in her Writing

thinking about how insidious eugenics can come up in writing- specifically SJMs writing. Personally I take a lot with a grain of salt bec I don't think a lot of ppl realize how fucking deeply entrenched and rooted it is in everything and more often than not its not intentional

and to an extent I don't think it was intentional by SJM. she does have a degree of plausible deniability in her story telling

however that being said:

the Cauldron "pairing mates" has allusions to being a breeding program of some kind of supernatural predestined idiocy. Sam + Melissa on Tiktok have some pretty great videos on it

However, while they think that SJM is providing commentary on the matter, I do have a different view, not that I really disagree with what they're saying

SJM has a track record of using disabilities as an aesthetic for her characters. It's often a point of suffering and/or there ends up being a magical fix (yay fantasy eugenics providing miracle cures!!! /sarcasm)

Chaol, severely injured with a spinal cord injury that left him paralyzed goes to the super special healing place to have the world's bestest healers where the magical healing trope + black girl magic collide. He spends the whole book, a duration of only six months, regaining the ability to walk, with a cane most days. Chaol spends a large part of the book feeling sorry for himself and immasculting himself. Yerene, a professional trained healer who helps him with PT snaps at him in frustration to "just get up" when he's being difficult with her Note: some of these detailed may be incorrectly remembered + I never finished the book bec I can't stand him

Lucien: he gets his eye ripped out and is literally blinded but now he has a magical eye that is even better and can sense magic and spells and all that good shit

Rhys: chronic pain; never addressed

Azriel: scarred hands and wings, but so far we've seen no real struggle or accommodation of any kind or even a real discussion on how he had to learn how to fly at an older age due to his captivity and scarred wings

Cassian: his wings were beyond shredded but between books they got fixed up right as rain. it would have been fantastic rep for this decorated veteran and leader to be disabled, esp for a culture of warriors where flying is so crucial + where thr women are also forceably mutilated and can't fly either

speaking of the illyrian women

the Illyrian Women: not being able to fly and use their limbs is a disability. We have seen zero repercussions of Emeries father (and brother(?)) for disabling and mutilating his daughter

the mental health crisis of NESTA for ONE. in both the Fandom and in the series the grating toxic positivity and lack of patience and understanding and support and willingness to meet her halfway enraged me holy shit. The tone policing, the lack of autonomy, the unaddressed childhood trauma that has made Nesta the core of who she was. it was vile and disgusting

Aelin: quite frankly should have difficulty moving as fluidly as she does. she was whipped to ribbons and beaten bloody. Her back should be full of chronic pain and difficulty

Elide: as far as I'm aware Elide isn't too bad and she's incredibly intelligent and resourceful but it's been a hot minute since I've read the series. I do remember when they talked about it at the end about possibilities to heal her ankle (they couldn't)

I haven't read CC yet but I heard that LIMBS CAN GROW BACK???? sure let's just completely erase and magically fix imputations I guess?

I find it a lit harder to forgive "accidental eugenics" when her disabled characters disabilities are either made into Aesthetics, not properly addressed, or just healed all together

and when you pair magical eugenics + aesthetics:

You get Rhysand, the most powerful high lord of ever that you just have to keep being told is the most powerful high lord ever due to his parents being mates that his father whisked away from moments before she became mutilated like all the other Illyrian Women at 18 years old to a 900 year old man

you get his entire IC who is made of The Night Courts super special powerful clique who now happen to be the most powerful illyrian EVERRRR (Cassian + Azriel), Amren who was some trapped angel of death or something and Mor who is just so super powerful a mountain quaked or something when she was born

the entire IC is a concentrated powerhouse who also uses a specific mindset of "might is right"-

-and have forced others hands across the entire series or just outright lied and stole. also trespassing and routinely breaking laws but hey

Rowan, Aelin, Aedion, Dorian, Manon are all ToG Powerhouses. Rowan is described as the "most powerful full blooded fae male alive". there's an implication that human blood "weakens" fae traits and magical abilities [this is rather common in a lot of fantasy books]

every single character in this series is seen as some sort of extraordinary person with some sort of extraordinary power or ability aside from maybe a few. Hell Chaol, the only fully human character with no powers is the "Captian of the Guard" which he got bec he's a nepo baby from being Dorians friend. He gets disabled and they immediately go to get him fixed

We Need To Talk About Shipping

I just want to put this out there since this website seems to be full of delusional shippers who are pushing fictional narratives or chains of events that literally never happened irl. Now personally, I don't mind casual shipping (big gasp, I know). Like if you think two people are cute together or have great chemistry, that's fine; ppl tend to reflect their own desires onto other people/things, whether they be fictional or real ... create your stories, write your fics, draw some nice pictures ...  the problem lies when you can no longer decipher your own fictional stories of your favorite ship from reality. If you have gotten to the point where you feel the need to argue over what ship is REAL in a space where these types of relationships haven't even been confirmed or acknowledged ... kindly exit the fandom and only come back after taking classes in human decency. If BTS hasn't confirmed a relationship, then we as fans must accept that as our reality. Of course, many of us have our speculations, but we should never overstep and promote those realms of possibility as true. You are allowed to think something might be real, but don't turn that idea of realness into false delusions about fabricated events. If you are in the ask box of a stranger accusing a BTS member of cheating on another BTS member with another BTS member... please take the time to reevaluate your life choices. If you can't even take the time to properly consume the nuances of what is being said, what makes you think that you're such a good detective and can sniff out a relationship? Hell, they can't even tell when honorifics are being used or if they're speaking satoori! Is it so hard to consult actual Koreans and Kor speakers to see if what you're consuming is actually correct? The Korean culture and language are not yours to maliciously weaponize when you're trying to prove a 'point'. But like I said, I feel like this community needs a lot of cleaning up. I want you to enjoy your time in the fandom, but don't attack other people on false evidence or speculations. Take care of yourself and others. Don't let your ships make you into a monster.

M!ik 272-273 thoughts: It's all about that Gaap

Gaap Goemon is one of those characters who's not always in the spotlight. He's a kind soul, very nice and friendly (even when in the demon world the word friend is unknown). He's also one of the misfits who has combat-related skills, so something like "the heartbreaker" might have given him a chance to shine.

If only.

When he and his team went MIA, it was really intriguing and made the subsequent reveal that much more shocking. The history of his clan and how that influenced him and his relationship with people was really moving, as was his friendship moment with Agares.

Murmur sensei, the bastard pervert that I can't help but like

Just like Goemon within the misfit. Murmur is one of the teachers that doesn't stand out much. But he was interesting for sure. He's the psychiatry teacher. What is that about? What are those classes like? Someone who can understands the mind and how to read and predict behavior is lethal enough. He doesn't look like a heavy warrior (from what we saw), but he combines a good enough fighting ability with the information he can get from the enemies' mood and then do as much damage as possible. He can play and manipulate minds, that's fire.

If he wasn't a deviant for Eli he would be my favorite. That place is still for Balam (bless his pure soul). But he really is a scary teacher. They are not really bad fighters in babyls, if all of them are rank 7, that has been shown for real.

Also that violence against the devi-camera was uncalled for!

The Gaap clan origins

Clan origins stories are the moments when Nishi can flex her art abilities because look at that level of detail. The abstract horror of the Gaap' face and the beauty of the deity Harpinus made a perfect contrast.

There's some Greek mythological inspiration that's really interesting (this post has a better analysis on that). And that pose and face of the Harpinus statue looks a bit like Buddha (maybe, I don't know, someone correct me if I'm wrong).

They born from caos and make an wild appearance, but now they live a very not chaotic life. A samurai life style that, if I understand correctly, has order, discipline and rules, to keep them tidy and prevent what they fear from scaring away other demons; avoiding loneliness. That explains his friendly, honorable and peaceful personality. He wants allies but more than anything he doesn't want to be alone.

It's really sad when you think he has to hide something about himself so people won't run away from him. Like a scar he has to cover otherwise he won't be accepted. I hope he'll be more open about this with the others so he'll see he can be loved for who he is despite of what he has to keep conceal.

On another note, his first years have to apologize too! Gaap was trying to made them cooperate (maybe not in the right way given the situation) but they were immature and stubborn, and selfish. So I'd say they need to apologize for that at least.

Goemon and Agares, the love duo

I LOVE the love trio, but this kind of relationship gives me life. Because they can be very honest with each other, no kid gloves no sugarcoat. A friend that support you is good but one that kick you ass when you need it is very reassuring.

Sometimes you need that rough hand. And after the scolding came the comforting. And Agares choosing onigiries was perfect! He knows that that's Gaap's love language, that how he takes care of ppl. They are kind of sloppy but that's a very fine detail, bc it shows his effort, even if he's no that good at it he made them for Gaap to make him feel better.

And of all the things he said to Gaap, the most important was that he would be by his side, not just when he went to apologize but all the time to make sure he never did the thing that scared him the most. Even if he has to hurt him to stop him, he's willing because he knows how important it is to Gaap that no one gets hurt because of him (his face). Goemon is so noble that he would rather be buried alive than harm another, and that is something Agares is willing to respect and help w it.

The cherry on the cake was that no only Agares but so many more of his allies are worry about him, and want to support him. It was heartwarming to see them being there for him when he was that depressed. Having friends that do care, that won't let him alone, that is what he wants.

Hmmmmm family trauma with Chazz and Great Expectations™, I’m a big fan of the hc of Jaden having no home life and having to raise himself after everything with Yubel when he was younger :))) I don’t think we know much about Jesse’s home life, so let’s make it a nice in between of the other two’s. His parents are still around unlike Jaden’s, but they’re more distant and neglectful than Chazz’s. They have expectations for him and if he fails to meet them it’s like he doesn’t exist, whereas Chazz’s parents just get angry. Give them bad parents and little to no support system, as a treat <3

Have them deal with Jaden’s self-destructive tendencies and lack of self-worth (he sees it as him making up for the crimes he committed as Supreme King. They see it as him being suicidal. “How can it be considered suicidal”, Jaden argues, “if I’m not even capable of dying?” Their hearts hurt for him regardless.) Give me angst from love, and love through the angst. Those who hurt and are hurting, helping and healing, even if it’s only by a fraction at a time.

It makes sense tho, while Jesse and Jaden kinda incorporate the supernatural into themselves, Chazz is by all accounts just a normal guy who does not let being able to see invisible monsters distract him from being a run of the mill grunge teenager. And I adore him for it. Chazz being the actual Common Knowledge Braincell of the trio. Jesse and Jaden are capable of subduing space gods, but Chazz is the one you call when you need help on your taxes. (He grumbles and yells at you the whole time and is so grouchy you don't realize until later he was actually really helpful.)

Also YES to qpr. Give Jaden as many qprs as possible. He deserves it. The ideal Jaden Yuki support network is a delicate interconnected web of partners who are all in a groupchat together to keep track of who the hell is taking care of their shared boyfriend over the weekend. Chazz sends a selfie to Jesse of Jaden literally haven broken into his house and fallen asleep on top of him with the caption "come get your mans >:[" and Jesse responds "No <3"

I think it's funny how close Kingdom Hearts keeps getting to having interesting things to say about gender politics with its character plots but it always renders itself moot bc it thinks the gender roles in question are awesome & real & true actually. Readmore for ppl who dgaf about kingdom heart

KH1 & CoM are both really refreshing takedowns of Sora & Riku(& Repliku)'s toxic masculinity and possessiveness / rivalry over Kairi. KH1 casts Riku as in the wrong for trying at all costs to be Kairi's savior and "beat" Sora for her affection, and admonishes him for selfishness and ego, but then CoM turns around and puts a mirror in front of Sora to go "Hey, asshole, that could so easily be you too." It shows that even if Sora doesn't directly want control over women the way Riku did over Kairi or Ansem wanted over the Princesses of Heart, his attitude towards Kairi / Naminé still strips them of their personhood.

Naminé herself has a great arc in CoM of seeking a form of existence through recognition & affection via Sora / Repliku, but coming herself to the conclusion that this charade is harmful to all of them, and reluctantly letting go of them both, now relying only on herself. She then goes on to lend perspective to Xion, Riku, and Roxas when they needed it most, and becomes kind of a symbol of emotional maturity & doing the right thing even when it's hard (through Reverse/Rebirth, Days, KH2, and Coded she is a major player setting up dominoes behind the scenes for every victory we win up through KH3)

This is of course downplayed by the rest of the series refusing to allow Kairi to do anything but be a damsel in distress (even when she gets a keyblade in KH2 she isn't allowed to use it ??), and minimizing the importance of Naminé's contributions to the plot, then refusing to give her any sort of catharsis like Roxas got (they even revert her arc of self-determination by giving her Riku (guy who was like vaguely coworkers with her under Ansem TW and I guess refused to kill her one time) to provide the masculine hero figure she harmed herself trying to chase in CoM)

Then Terra's reprisal of the connection between toxic masculinity & darkness in BBS is pretty interesting too. He's actually not a particularly egotistical, selfish, or violent guy in the beginning. When he loses mastery to Aqua at the trial, he's understandably crestfallen, but instead of lashing out, he seeks guidance. Unfortunately Xehanort, a male figure of authority, gets under his skin and espouses to him that anger and violence are integral to who he is as a man & individual. Even then, Terra is opposed to this idea, ashamed that he succumbed to urges of anger against Braig in Radiant Garden, but Xehanort continues to isolate him from his family & convince him that they are unable to understand him. He's told / shown over and over that the only way to protect those he loves is through domination & power, and it culminates in his fight against Eraqus (who is similarly short-sighted here) where you unlock the Dark Impulse command style and strike him down. The death of his master drives his anger even further, turning it back on Xehanort, playing into the long-con and getting him bodysnatched. He ultimately fails to save anyone through imposing his power over others.

Aqua has a similar but contrasting arc of being isolated from her family, but in her case she's just getting wildly parentified / diagnosed with Oldest Sister Disorder. She's also taught that Terra's darkness is inherent to who he is, and that it's her responsibility to handle all the emotional burdens singlehandedly without any system of support. She's lead to feel that anything bad that happens / Terra & Ven's decisions she disagrees with are due to her failure as a leader, leaving her unable to see the real external factors causing these events. After getting some clue of what's really going on, she is able to put Terra & Ven in the safest possible positions in the aftermath of the story climax, but only by continuing to sacrifice herself, dropping into the Realm of Darkness, still feeling like their fates are her fault. 0.2 gives us some fun stuff of her dealing with her low self-esteem & guilt, and she ultimately plays another important role in sealing the Door to Darkness in KH1 by saving Mickey and Riku.

Then in KH3 Aqua gets turned Nortmode by a random darkness attack (not any of the legit trauma she had or being in literal hell for 10 years?), saved by Sora without any hand in her own liberation, then continues on to job against Vanitas so she can be saved by her little brother, then get paid dust the rest of the game. Meanwhile Terra gets to do a bunch of cool shit & then Eraqus shows up at the end to be like "Terra you're the man of the house now and in charge" as if the whole point of BBS wasn't that the most important thing was communication & understanding between these 3 instead of offloading responsibility / leadership onto either Terra or Aqua. Sigh

about the whole yeji situation it is intentional yes! im so glad you noticed its kinda hard to write such subtle things in smau without it being in your face because it's one of those things that i want ppl to notice but sometimes im like ahh idk if anyone would notice, i think for her she obviously views y/n as a rival but because she's left out (hence jinnie growing more distance ever since yeo came into her life) she tries to attack y/n with the only available card she has which is "you did smth bad to my friend" bc she doesn't know anything else and she wasn't even there when it all happened she only got snippets from the story and from jinnie's side when he was still feeling resentful towards y/n and you see the difference in this specific subject between her and lix (bc lix was there) he gets their bond sm more and it's so much easier for him to not hold it against y/n

One Day 2024 Emma Morley headcanon I figured out from a throwaway line in a fic I'm working on but I'm not gonna include bc it's already too long and weird but I just need to put this out there in the world:

after Tilly's wedding they resume their friendship w extreme gusto - emails, many phone calls, back and forth SMSs all day (Dex is hugely relieved he's on a separate contract from Sylvie but chooses not to think about this too much)

Clearly full blown emotional affair level, and with Sylvie switched on to wedding planning mode and buried in logistics and catering and whatever, it's easy for Dex to coast, being supportive and going along with whatever The Fiancée wants while thinking about how he'd word the funny email to Em about this ridiculous wedding activity later that night etc

So it's not hard for Dex and Em to pretend everything is just like it was and revert to their early stage London friendship (where according to the book version they were completely obsessed w each other). Until the wedding. And the honeymoon.

When Dexter goes cold turkey no contact for the entire 3 weeks bc he realized at some point (maybe at the reception when he wanted to immediately go dance w Em? Or Sylvie has like a dress crisis 15 minutes before walking down the aisle and he's not really panicking but preoccupied over some ambivalent email Emma's agent sent her about a possible TV adaptation of her book and whether he should try to hook her up with some contact he has) that this was really fucked up! and he was being an awful shitty person to Sylvie! who he loves! and has gotten married and is having a kid with!!

Em, of course, has also been in full denial about this - he's just my best friend (Tilly: so what am I? chopped liver??), we're just catching up after not being in touch for so long. And she's able to lie to herself about this until he suddenly goes completely off grid during the honeymoon and she has a mini breakdown and realizes:

- she's fallen back in love w him - he's just being regular old charming rooting-for-her-all-the-way #1 cheerleader Dexter - she craves validation, he clearly still has bad impulse control so it's headed straight for a Headmaster Phil sordid affair situation - and she cannot have their friendship degenerate into that

so she has some crisis meetings with Tilly and decides to dial it the fuck back. only casual drop-in hangouts in public with other ppl around. phone calls preferably same. no texting. emails get a pass bc it's like work (it's OK she can still be in denial a little bit, as a treat)

and miracle of miracles! by some unspoken agreement he's also dialing it the fuck back. (Em bitterly tells herself it was the mind blowing honeymoon sex.) (intuition bitterly confirmed by Dex now regularly bringing Sylvie along to their dinner/lunch/coffee dates)

Emma is trying very hard to be a supportive innocuous 100% platonic not secretly pining best friend but it's fucking hard and she ends up cancelling a bunch of things at the last minute bc of migraines or swollen glands or whatever mysterious illness she makes up, because seeing them being lovey-dovey is so fucking painful she's literally constantly on the verge of tears. Eventually, faking it till she makes it works and she's able to ignore it better and it's on a way lower shimmer and everything is mostly fine again.

all this to say! Emma was on super high guard in Paris refusing to believe Dexter had any deeper feelings specifically for her, Emma, as a person, besides someone who is always there for him and low effort etc. So his sudden refusal to have dinner w her and Jean-Pierre is very confusing. She's trying to figure it out - Dex is extroverted, loves meeting ppl and bantering and showing her up, a little too much even, like a competition to prove who's more charismatic. And the swollen glands thing is clearly fake. So what is up?????

She's distracted, picking over it on the walk to the restaurant w Jean-Pierre until she suddenly considers the possibility he is pulling the same trick she did - he is so heartbroken seeing her w someone else it is causing sufficient anguish he can't even fake being friendly and social. Dexter! Mr TV Presenter social butterfly Dexter Mayhew! And so the penny droppeth 😋

see tbh that's exactly why i personally think cdream IS irredeemable! but also why i hate all other discourse about it. i LOVE cdream as a character i think he slays but i also think he's too extremely steadfast in what he's doing to think that he's doing bad things that hurt people, or if he does know he's doing bad things that hurt people it doesnt matter to him in like. the greater scheme or what he's doing. like he doesnt care abt the consequences. but i hate when ppl approach the discourse from "he's done this this and this he can NEVER be redeemed" NO!!!! no what it is!!!!!!!!! and being redeemed also doesnt necessarily mean "everyone forgives him" redemption is wayyyy more complicated than that like he can be redeemed but not forgiven which is another thing everybody seems to get stuck on bc theyre sooo caught up in the idea that some sort of cdream redemption would mean ctommy forgiving him and they dont want that.......anyway i also dont think cdream is redeemable bc i genuinely dont think thats what ccdream wants lol like especially after he listed all the shows he likes i was like You make so much sense now lmfao (i am interested in what ppl who Do think cdream is capable of that realization have to say tho like i wanna know what yall think)

Yeah! I'm fine with people thinking c!Dream is irredeemable because they just don't see him as capable of taking the steps necessary for a redemption, or because they don't think cc!Dream wants to take his story in that direction (neither do I at this point tbh), but I hate the idea of someone becoming irredeemable because they've passed some subjective moral event horizon.

I do see c!Dream as redeemable mostly because I subscribe to the idea that everyone has the possibility of becoming a better person, be they a fictional person or a real one. c!Dream is certainly very unlikely to use that possibility, but I can see it if 1) his plan falls through or he realizes his plan is unachievable 2) he has a support network. If c!Dream has to deal with the fact that all the harm he's caused was for nothing it'd be devastating to his sense of identity, but if people invested in his well-being help him find a new purpose I can see c!Dream redeeming himself. Probably not something we'll ever get in canon, but I love that idea being explored in fic!

I think you’re the one who’s oversimplifying or twisting what people have said about Joyce and Jonathan. You take everything as meaning that people don’t want them to interact, nobody actually says that. It’s an interesting relationship, there are just different opinions on how it should be developed, and how every pov (Jonathan’s, Joyce’s but also the social context) should be taken into account.

I'd also like to point out every time people talk about potential Joyce and Jonathan interactions, all I see is,

"It's not Joyce's fault Jonathan has taken on this responsibility."

"Joyce is a single mother and Jonathan is an adult, he should be able to handle this by himself."

"Joyce has her own problems right now, she shouldn't have to deal with Jonathan's problems too."

Etc etc.

My issue with those kinds of takes is, regardless of how Joyce is feeling or the situation she's in, she IS Jonathan's mother. He's still in high school. She loves him. She's his mom, she's going to do what she can to help him.

Even when she's at her worst, she's clearly done everything possible to keep supporting her children no matter what.

Regardless of how it's done, I think it's nonsensical to suggest Joyce shouldn't have involvement in Jonathan's arc. Or insulating if she does, then that means Jonathan is blaming her or that she's a bad mother or something.

Maybe I'm missing it but I haven't seen anyone who talks about this potential interaction as Jonathan calling her out or condemning her or blaming her for his life. that's exactly opposite of what Jonathan probably feels.

It's like people equate this potential situation to Joyce being bad when that is not the point at all and never has been. I just have to ask if you guys have lived in a single parent household, and if you did, did you have a good or bad experience? These are conversations older kids have with their parents.

Depending on the parent, it can be such a positive and relieving experience to go over your life and have your parent validate your experience. I'm not a single parent so I don't know how THEY feel, but when I had this talk with my single mother, she was a little snarky but she was also smiling and even though my mom is not really a touchy feelsy type, she still patted me on the back and thanked me for the things I did. It felt good. It made me appreciate my mom a little more. She seemed to appreciate me a little more (as much as my mom can that is, lol). I totally get that sometimes single parent households are WAY worse. Maybe you experienced something worse than me. Maybe your parents lashed out at you instead of appreciating you and there were no hugs had. I'm sorry about that, but that's not how every single parent household concludes.

Just because some people are speculating what this could look like from Jonathan's perspective does not mean Joyce is a bad mother. It doesn't mean Jonathan hates her (he freakin loves her dude, that's part of the reason why he's in the situation in the first place). So why would anyone say, "Well, since you want a moment where Jonathan opens up to her, we Joyce "fans" are gonna turn against him."

That is some bonkers shit right there.

A moment where Joyce and Jonathan can come together and talk about things can only happen because Joyce is a good mother who would notice her son's distress and be able to listen to him when he has something to say.

Regardless of how they write season 5, this is the person Joyce is. She loves her boys. She notices when her boys are going through something. She will protect and comfort her boys no matter what. That's Joyce's character. If you're her family, she'd go to the Upside Down/Russia and back just to save you even if it's from yourself.

And in return, absolutely everyone in her family would do the same for her.

We want a redo/expansion of this moment posted below. Is this moment bad to you? Is this the worse possible outcome in your eyes? Does it destroy Joyce's character? Is the interaction something to be scared of? Does this moment make Joyce a bad mom? Does this make Jonathan a bad son? Is this moment only from Jonathan's perspective????

What is so terrible about wanting something like this again? Please tell me because I do not get it.
