Chiho Saito’s 1999 Revolutionary Girl Utena Original Illustration Collection

IT’S HERE. IT’S DONE. IT’S FINISHED. NOW…IT’S YOURS. Happy Holidays, my friends.

Vanna here! I have posted some already about this project, and the responses I got, public and otherwise, have been absolutely incredible. Y’all have been reblogging and hyping this before it even finished…I haven’t felt so encouraged about an Utena project since the musicals! (Yes, streams soon, I promise.) You can read the other post to get more details, and catch my post here with more details about the process if you’re interested. The long and short of it?

This is the first artbook I ever scanned. I did it in 2001. In Photoshop, using multiple scans per page that took hours to process. But it was 2001. A half megabyte file that was 1250px wide was considered extremely hardcore and impressive. That’s just always been the business I’m in when it comes to Utena art, you know?

It’s now the latest artbook I’ve scanned, and so much of the process, and effort involved, is unchanged. What has changed, is the result. Welcome to your new desktop background. Your new phone background. Your new poster print.

What I’ve done here is attempt to create definitive digitized images of Chiho Saito’s work as offered by this book--I have removed the print moiré of the original scans, and used my literal decades of experience to try and tease out as much information from them as possible. Without being physically in front of the original artwork (which is a thing I’ve had the great fortune to get to do) this is The Most Chiho Saito you are ever going to get. I’ve tried my best to make sure there is a way to get it that works for everyone:

I am genuinely really proud of this work.** I was able to tease out so much new detail from these…her incredible layering techniques, the faintest brush of her highlights, and the full range of her delicate hand at whites and blacks… details commonly lost in digitization. I sincerely hope you find something here that you’re looking for, as an artist looking for inspiration, as a weeb looking for a desktop, as an archiver excited to see incredible 90s manga artwork saved forever in the digital realm. You might be wondering what any of that is. Something Eternal? Biblewhatawhat??? EmptyMovement.com? You might even have done a double take at the word ‘forum.’ And you should!!!

I have a confession. This artbook was my ‘side project’ as I worked on this, *the main project.* For a couple years I’ve been banging around with a new domain, and originally I had other plans for it, but Elon Musk ruined my Twitter and Discord is well along on its way to enshittification, and well….we joke on the Discord a lot about ‘reject modernity, embrace forums’ and you know what? We’re right. So Yasha and I are putting our money where our mouths are once again, and doing something insane. We are launching, in 2023, a website forum. Obviously, this is not the official ‘launch’ per se, but I cannot announce the artbook without directing you to the forum, since it sits on the attached very cool gallery system. Oops! Told on myself. Another post more focused on the forum will be forthcoming, but if you are just that motivated to get in right away, you absolutely can! (This will help stagger new arrivals anyway, which is good for us!) If you would rather wait for the ‘official’ launch, by all means that’s coming, including a lengthy screed about how and why we’re doing this. In either case, remember: this is a couple weebs trying to make internet magic happen, we are not website developers by trade. Give us grace as we iron things out and grow into this cool new website thingie…hopefully along with some of you! :D

Grabs them by the shoulder, looks them dead straight in the eye and says it slowly once again. " I. Love. You." And proceed to say the most devoted, loving words about them and how reader is so in love, loyal and just. UGHHHH

Take it easy! Just bask into this idea, hope you don't stress over answering a bunch of (my 😭) asks!! Mwah mwah 💕💕 /p

OH I AM MORE THAN BASKING INTO THIS BECAUSE IT IS SO REAL!!!! We love a reader who is completely and utterly in love with their Harbingers <3 Pierro and Capitano are the ones who stay silent as you go on a whole tangent about how much you love them. Pierro retains his usual serious look, but you're so caught up with your words you may not notice how his face turns softer at your blatant declarations of devotion. Sure, he has a mountain of work to catch up on, but what kind of lover would he be if he didn't let his love rant their feelings out to him? He's not the most verbal or physically affectionate, but that doesn't mean he doesn't appreciate it. I imagine he's been betrayed and such in the past, you know with Celestia and Khaenri'ah and all, so he deeply appreciates your words. Capitano... well, you can never really see his expression with that big helmet of his, so it's a bit hard to tell what he's thinking but don't worry!! His heart is beating quicker than usual and his mind is racing as to what to reply with!! Since when did you become so romantic and affectionate? He hasn't read enough romance advice books to respond properly yet! So Capitano just... pats your head and thanks you so sincerely it makes you giggle. He attempts to formally respond to your feelings via writing but he can't find the right words, unfortunately.

Dottore (that's who you're here for, I know) merely bursts into a laugh. No, he's not laughing at you, but he simply finds it a bit amusing. The idea of true devotion, of genuine loyalty, of real love... he still toys with those concepts a bit. He does feel these things toward you, but he won't verbalize them. Yet you don't seem to care about admitting those feelings toward him in the slightest... in fact, it seems like you jump at the chance to tell him how much you adore him... it's a bit funny to Dottore. Of course, he won't ever stop you, he does enjoy being worshipped and loved by you. Akademiya Zandik, on the other hand, would probably fight you off and then storm away to hide his blushing cheeks. How dare you say such idiotic things to him and how dare you make his heart thump hard at such stupid words. Pantalone too, except it's less of a laugh and more of a few chuckles. He's the kind of person to smile and nod at everything you say, completely enamored by you. He'll stop you in the middle and ask you to elaborate on a specific part and you happily do, he's stroking his own ego at this point but how can you blame him? His darling is being far too cute for him not to want to tease them a bit!

Columbina and Childe are very excited and blushy over it. They adore it when you're so open with them! Columbina's smile is even larger than usual as she hums in agreement with everything you're saying. Yes, please keep adoring her like this. She loves hearing about how much you love her. She's quite open with her feelings toward you too, so to hear it reciprocated so plainly? Pure bliss for her! Childe too is similar, you can literally see how he lights up and a faint blush spreads across his cheeks when you flatter him with such praise. But not for too long, because he'll pick you up and tease you ten times harder. Trying to get on his good side, hmm? Well, he'll have you know he loves you far more than you ever cold. Occasionally, he gets worried about whether it's right to be with you since he's in the Fatui, so these kinds of messages are secretly quite reassuring to him.

Arlecchino and Signora are very elegant and smooth about it. They watch you with a knowing smile, hands tracing over your collarbone and up to your neck and chin... a finger combing through your hair. Arlecchino is still a quiet and reserved woman, she still doesn't say much after your confession, but she is very pleased. Kisses you and gives you a sincere thank you. In her line of work, it's not often she find someone as loyally passionate as you are. Much less someone she loves to the deepest depths of her heart. She knows that you'll never betray or stab her in the back, and she shall never do that to you either. Signora is more smug and teasing about it. Oh? You truly love her that much? How about you show her it too? She ends up flustering you despite you being the one throwing all these sweet words at you. She truly loves being pampered by you, she needs it after all with all of the heartache she went through with her last lover, who she was abruptly cut off from.

Scaramouche and Sandrone short circuit for a few moments before springing back to life, stuttering and berating you for such stupidity and hurriedly breaking free from your grip. They can't deal with such loving words being directed towards them, especially unprompted. Scaramouche's expression is one that you have imprinted in your memory, the uncharacteristic redness and slack jaw, before he becomes his usual Scara self and launches into a long speech about how clingy and strange you were and that you should never do that ever again lest he actually get mad (this is a plea for you to confess all of that again, despite his adamant protest... you know he loves being loved, a feeling that always seemed to slip away from him. He's hesitant about it but he can't deny the rush of his "heart" when he hears your sincere words.) Sandrone's face is just blank. Blank like a robot. She opens her mouth to speak and then closes it, and then opens it again but she's at a loss for words. She finally gets out a half-hearted insult and ends up stuttering halfway through, so that's already not a good look for her. It seems even her usual bad attitude can't keep up when assaulted with such genuine affection...

And... Papanella can get a little platonic kiss on the cheek while you thank him for being the best grandad.

He just stares at your belly for a few minutes thinking, “Ya mean we made a kid??” “Well, not a whole one yet…...” “But it’s in there??” “Yup!”

Mammon will turn into the ultimate househusband, constantly asking if you need anything and reminding you about doctors appointment. While setting up a nursery.

The first time he sees the baby in the ultrasound he cried-

Levi

He did pass out-

Wakes up and starts telling you about the weird dream he had and how you pranked him saying you’re pregnant, “Crazy right lolol” “Levi it wasn’t a dream.” “…………..” “Levi?!”

After he gets over the initial shock Levi’s excited, stressed out and worried!- but excited!

I saw this on YouTube- Levi will plan and make his kid nursery/room in Minecraft before starting the actual project, so he can make sure everything will work and looks good lol

Satan

“A baby?” “Yes.” “My baby?” “Yes.”

Stares at you like he can’t believe it at first. “My baby….love, I don’t know what to say.”

Immediately starts reading every book, ever written about parenthood and being a good father.

A bit lot overbearing, at first but just tell him to tone it down and he will.

Can’t stop smiling and showing everyone even Lucifer the first ultrasound!

Asmo

“Really?!” He’s hugging you so tight and giggling, “My sweetheart’s having my baby! What could be better?”

He’s so excited to set up the nursery and buy baby clothes. Soooo, so many baby clothes it doesn’t matter if you have a boy or a girl there are plenty of pink clothes so they can match!

Accompanies you on every, single, doctors visit from the very first one all the way to the last one.

And he has the first ultrasound framed and hanging on the wall in the nursery.

Beel

“We’re having a baby?” “Yes.” “I hope they have your eyes.”

Beel is another one who will pull you into a hug and he’s grinning ear to ear.

Beel’s honestly worried about the size of the baby and if it’s twins won’t that be harder on you?-

Just remind him that no matter what you have each other and he’ll relax.

Belphie

Pokes your stomach and says, “You better not steal my cuddles kid. Your mom was mine first.” you laugh a bit, “Belphie, it’s just cells right now. I don’t think it’s going to hear you…” “Fine. I’ll tell them when they’re born.” “Belphie!”

He’s actually really worried, but he’ll hide it.

Uses your pregnancy as an ‘excuse’ to constantly make you stop what you’re doing and lay down with him because you need more rest.

oh he DEFINITELY freaked out at first. there was a lot of panicking and confusion and "how could this even happen?!" ("you think i'd genetically engineer a creature that's not capable of reproducing? all of you should be genetically compatible with practically any yokai," draxum said. "AND YOU DIDN'T THINK TO, I DUNNO, TELL US THAT?!" donnie said.) but eventually, he did calm down, and he and his partner talked about it (a bunch, multiple times), and eventually some of the panic gave way to... curiosity, first of all... and then maybe kind of excitement? and some fondness? i mean, he was still pretty scared, and sure, he doesn't really consider himself a 'kid' person, but it's not like he never thought about EVENTUALLY having kids, just maybe... not so soon? but. i mean.

oh gosh. i'm not sure, but i know it definitely WILL affect their parenting... i think at first donnie will find himself just... deferring to his partner a LOT in almost any situation because he's afraid that he'll fuck it up, because he DOESN'T feel like he understands proper boundaries or what parenting is supposed to look like, etc etc etc, and he's afraid he'll mess up. he probably reads a TON of parenting books as well because RESEARCH and will often try to pull directly from them in any situation he can, and is confused when things don't go exactly the way they were described in the text... leo i think kind of tends to flounder between being overprotective and feeling the desire to protect his son from everything and anything and wanting to overcorrect this tendency by pulling back and trying to give him as much freedom and space as possible, which sometimes leads to some... inconsistencies. there's definitely a learning curve for both of them, but they both get the hang of it eventually. they both have lovely partners and a very loving and supportive family to help them and they'll figure it out with a bit of practice.

i like to imagine them all staying very close, especially coz i'm loosely planning on them all going through the kraang-apocalypse together (and then coming through to the other side!) so i can't imagine them ever drifting too far from each other, emotionally or geographically. there's a bit of a rocky start for a lot of them, but all of the siblings end up a very tight-knit bunch.

Fractured and Adrift

I was going to write a big huge post with lots of screen shots and chart data and analysis that I'd saved on my phone, but honestly I'm too sick right now to sit up and organize all that. If you go on twitter, you see in real time what is happening, anyway.

Bottom lines:

it's very clear to me that ads, payola, pay to play, vpn and other "networking" tactics that go against what BTS has always been about have pretty much come into play--for a catchy, but ultimately impersonal and generic, pop single that was given to only one member.

I'm not just disappointed, I'm gutted. I don't know where to go from here, as someone who used to take pride in being an ARMY and stanning artists who made it to the top the organic and hard way, by being genuine and talented and real with us.

As always, I look to my ult-bias, Jimin. His debut album was abandoned the moment he hit #1, yet he continues on with this company and to be a team player. He was with JK on private time during a couple's holiday. He's been filmed with and is likely working on some sort of project with JK right now. These are my cues. So without any further information about what is happening, I will continue to follow Jimin's lead.

I am a person who believes in the potential and the very best of others until I just can't any more. But I also cannot hide from the glaringly obvious. Jimin was mistreated, and Jungkook was prioritized in ways I personally find dishonorable.

I don't know how much, if any, input JK had in this. He's got a Masters in Communications, a decade of industry experience, and owns stock in his company; but I also know that talent are very rarely given complete insight or say over sales and marketing strategies--that's external, executive business decisions. I don't know what conversations, trade-offs, or internal pressure came into play here.

At this point, I would say I'm very adrift.

I'm a good soldier. I bought the CD, I bought each version of the song, I added it to my playlists. But I no longer feel needed as a fan for Seven; I feel replaced by Scooter's dollars. And I don't feel any personal connection to this particular song, as catchy as it is. I was excited when the styles JK helped choose seemed to be an homage to Jimin's Face, but... now a lot of the elements of this work seem rushed and disjointed. I just don't know.

I'm very worried about what this rollout means for our 7, especially how they are supposed to come together in a fair and equitable way after military service. I'm trying to read through their book when I can stay awake long enough. Trying to trust and hope and manifest the best.

I wish there was more transparency, more communications around what the game plan is, and if the members are all on board with everything.

All I can think to do is to keep loving Jimin and the people who are good to Jimin, keep working hard for what I want and not invest energy and time into what I don't. I do believe that Jungkook and Jimin love one another.

But I'm... fracturing... inside. It hurts.

I'm very ill. Maybe I'm just too emotional right now because I'm so sickly. Maybe I just need more time and more data to have a more rational perspective.

All I can think to do is hang in there and wait to be more anchored in facts before I can decide what all this means--for Jikook, for BTS.

I'm sorry if this post isn't very coherent. I'm on a bunch of steroids until I can get to a specialist and the brain fog is immense. I'm gonna go rest now. I think I might stop posting memes and thirsts and other things for a bit, while I just focus on getting well. But I'm sending you all so much love.

Hang in there. Deep breaths. We will find our way. We will make our way, if necessary.

Growing as a reader

I just wanted to talk a little about my experience reading through the years.

I’m relatively young and I feel there’s so much for me to discover and learn and read about. I have been reading since I was 11-12, I remember picking up Carrie by Stephen King as my first book, and although to me personally that was a mistake for a first book, it didn’t deter me to continue and learn more.

I have had this realisation recently on how the internet has influenced my reading taste and that was the main thing I wanted to talk about in this post.

Before being influenced by booktok or even booktube I would go out there to LOOK for books that interest me, picking books based on the their synopsis, of course the internet still used to inspire me to pick up some books, however at that point it felt like I was slowing building my own personal taste in reading, finding out what I like and want may not interest me as much, and because of this I feel my reading library was much more diverse and interesting at the mere age of 14 as compared to now. I used to read everything from kafka to John Green. And because I was reading all of these books because I genuinely was interested in them I feel like my overall year in reading were much more exciting.

Since being introduced to booktok and booktube, I have been able to find so many more books, many authors that I didn’t even know existed, and all of this does have a positive impact, in fact I have entire lists of books I want to read based on it being recommended online, however, I couldn’t help but notice the lacklustre feeling I have been getting with my reading experience these past 2 years. I noticed I was reading books based on their hype and if I saw a book being talked about more than 3 times I would be compelled to read them. That didn’t get me anywhere, as most of these books that were being hyped or talked about didn’t actually capture my attention and I still read them all, all of which lead to me having read all these books that I wouldn’t have even read in the first place throughout the year.

Of course, this is not me bashing booktok or booktube, I think it has to do with me. I get the urge to read a book if it is being mentioned more than a few times not realising that I don’t have to read every single book, I can’t possibly do that. What matters is reading the right books that suit you.

This is the reason I am trying to focus on reading books based on whether I am interested in their synopsis and plot and generally reading what I want to read. I also started this blog out of impulse to come here once in a while to talk and update. My idea going forward this year is to read all the books in my physical tbr (around 23 books) and re-read a bunch of books to kind of fall back in love with reading and books.

I am always up to taking recommendations online though, I hope to share my reads and eventually mutually share recommendations and have discussions here, or just chill honestly.

This was kind of like an introduction post talking about my reading goals this year, that’s all 🤍🤍

Classes had long since ended, and after having a much needed talk with your History teacher, you decided it was time to start heading home.

Wanting a shortcut, you cut through the courtyard to get to the back entrance of the school, only to find a green-haired boy sitting under a tree, fast asleep.\

Huh?

You walked up to him curiously, not expecting him to open his eyes.

“I’m napping,” he snapped,

He seemed annoyed that you woke him up.

“I just wanted to check on you,” you replied.

He scoffed, “And why would you need to check on me?”

He stood up slowly and brushed off the dirt on his pants, sighing, seeming even more annoyed that you were still there.

You took a deep breath, doing your best not to react to his attitude.

“You looked like you had been asleep for a while. I just wanted to make sure you were all right,” you repeated.

“And what would you have done if I wasn’t? Huh?” He asked, folding his arms, grey eyes locking onto you for an answer.

“I would’ve called someone to help and stayed with you until you got better,” you answered, simply.

“Ha, that’s cute,” he scoffed again, dawning a slight smirk, “You’re a kind person, I’ll give you that. Now go away. I want to go back to sleep.”

He sat back down, tucking his hands behind his head.

“Too bad,” you shrugged, sitting down next to him, “I’m staying right here.”

If looks could kill, you would have been dead.

He sighed in annoyance, “Go. Away.”

His stern voice was demanding.

In the short time you had known him, it was probably the most emotion you had heard out of him yet.

You smiled, innocently, “Nope.”

He narrowed his eyes at you, “You’re annoying.” he said plainly, as if giving a fact you couldn’t argue.

“Y’know it’s rude to interrupt someone’s sleep?”

“It’s even ruder to leave someone to sleep by themselves outside where they could possibly freeze to death,” you stated plainly as well.

“You really can’t take a hint, can you?” He asked, frustrated.

He was now getting quite agitated with you, it showing with the tenseness he now had.

Yet, he still had control of his emotions as he could tell he was starting to lose it.

He took a deep breath in and out, turning his head away from you.

“Just... let me sleep, okay? I promise if I die from the cold, you can tell everyone what a bad person I am,” he sighed.

You raised a brow, turning your head in confusion, “Why would I do that? You’re not a bad person. Not to my knowledge.”

He stayed silent and closed his eyes, clearly trying to be patient with you.

You could tell he wanted nothing more than for you to leave, he was only giving you more chances to out of his own good will.

Because as much as he’d hate to admit it, he was a genuinely nice person.

Still, he had an unreadable expression on. One that was hard to decipher but you could tell it had some displeasure in it.

“I’ll be quiet and stay with you until you’re ready to go,” you caved, pulling out a book from your backpack.

He opened an eye to see you holding the book, sighing again.

“What book are you reading?” He asked plainly in a curious tone.

Maybe you had a chance to turn this around.

You smiled, “It’s about pirates.”

He suddenly had a look of interest come to his face and gave you a smirk.

“Is it now? What’s the book called? I might have to check it out.”

Your smile grew, “It’s called the Adventures of the Grandline. It’s a colection of stories about a whole bunch of pirates searching for this treasure hidden at the end of the sea. My friend Robin gifted it to me.”

His eyes widened slightly, and you could practically feel the excitement radiating from him.

You had definitely caught his interest.

“Wow, your friend Robin must be a very good gift giver to give you a book about pirates,” he chuckled in amusement.

“Well, she knows how much I’m fascinated with them. Especially their sword fights,” you dreamily sighed.

His interest was now piqued even further.

“Is it only pirate sword fights you enjoy? Or are there other things you like about the topic?” He asked.

You were proud. You were able to bring this grumpy and angsty boy out of his mood.

He was enjoying the conversation, and didn’t seem like he wanted it to end just yet.

“Not only that, but their honor and loyalty to their crew. It’s something to be admired,” you answered.

He geeked,” Well said. And what about their courage to stand up to others? Doesn’t that make you respect ‘em?”

You nodded quickly, “Definitely. the freedom that they have is something I’m really envious of.”

You dreamily smiled.

“To have no responsibility to anyone else except yourself, and maybe some choice people.”

“That sounds like the dream life, huh?” He chuckled and nodded in agreement with you. “To be able to just go where you want, when you want, do whatever you want? It is really something worth envy.

He looked out into the horizon.

“I guess you could say it’s something I dream about often as well.”

“Really?” You asked, turning to him with sparking eyes.

He smirked, “You think I’m kidding? If I could just drop everything right now, take a sailboat and live a life of adventure and freedom, I would do it in a heartbeat.”

He turned to you with a sincere smile.

“I think anyone who doesn’t think that way is just scared to be a little bit selfish and put themselves first.”

You smiled back, “What’s your name, Mosshead?”

“The name’s Zoro,” he nodded, not expecting you to guess his nickname right of the bat.

“What’s yours? I don’t think I’ve asked yet.”

“(y/n)!” You blushed, embarrassed, “But some of my friends nicknamed me Angel for....whatever reason.”

“(y/n)....that’s a beautiful name,” he smiled, testing out the word on his tongue. “Your friends must think you’re petty angelic. Maybe the ame fits you more than you think.”

Zoro added the last bit with a chuckle, trying to tease you.

You blushed, “Speaking of which, I will say there’s a good amount of romance in this book, too.”

His ear perked at this.

“Romance? You mean between pirates?” He suddenly had a hint of dreaminess in his expression, “That sounds interesting. How do they play it out? I imagine it must be complicated.”

You nodded, “It is. Most of them struggle between their loyalty as a member of their crew, and their loyalty as a lover.”

“I see. So basically it’s like every pirate’s dilemma,” he agreed. “Choosing their loyalty to the crew, or their own personal feelings. It must make for some interesting stories.”

He was beginning to see the appeal of these romance novels

“Which do you personally think is more important? The loyalty to your crew or to your lover?”

“I think it depends on the person’s personal values, and the promises they’ve made to others. One thing you can’t do is break your word. The book says a person’s word is the only thing completely owned in this world,” you answered.

“Pretty wise. You seem to have your values set straight,” Zoro smiled. “You already seem honest and loyal by the sound of it.”

“I’m sure your friends are lucky to have you.”

You blushed, “I’ve been told so. But what do you think? When it comes down to it, what do you think a pirate should choose? His loyalties or his personal relationships?”

He let out a little chuckle while thinking it over.

“I see myself as a loyal person, so to me there would be no question. I would always pick my crew. That may seem cruel and selfish, but you would just end up with a bunch of pirates who only cared about themselves if we always put our hearts first. The crew should always be top priority,” he explained.

You nodded, approving his valid answer.

“What about you? What would you choose in that situation?”

You paused for a moment, allowing yourself to think.

“i would have to choose the same thing. Though that wouldn’t mean I wouldn’t care about the person any less,” you answered, allowing your gaze to travel over to the green-haired boy.

Though....you didn’t exactly know why.

He gave out a short laugh at your last comment.

”Is that so? I’m flattered that I would be the person to come into your mind during a hypothetical question,” he said in a teasing tone as he smiled at you.

You blushed horribly, giving him a playful sock in the arm, “Who said I was talking about you?”

He cocked a brow, smirking.

“Well then, did you have a specific person in mind then, or were you just being a little ease and didn’t have anyone in mind?” he asked with an amused look.

You smirked, “Maybe a bit of both.”

Looking up at the sky, you realized just how late it had gotten.

“Damn, I lost track of time. I gotta get home. It’s already getting pretty dark.”

He chuckled again, “You are a little tease, aren’t you....”

He looked up at the sunset with you, letting out a sigh.

“I should probably start heading home, too. Want me to walk you?” He asked as he stood up, stretching.

You stood up as well and flashed him a thankful smile, making him blush, “Yes, please. Thank you.”

“Well then,” he smirked, holding out his elbow for you to take, “I suppose I should be a gentleman and walk you home proper.”

He couldn’t believe it, but he was truly having an amazing time talking to you.

You smirked back, linking arms with the boy, “Lead the way, Mosshead.”

He smiled softly at the use of his nickname, a light dusting of pink gracing it’s way onto his cheeks.

“As you wish, my lady,” he joked, beginning to walk you back home, leading you through the path to the exit of the school.

“Hey, could I see your schedule?” You asked. “Maybe we have the same classes.”

He blushed again as he reached into his pocket and grabbed his schedule, a cheeky grin on his face.

“Sure, what are you planning to stalk me in class now?” He teased with a smirk.

You blushed in embarrassment, taking the paper from him, “No! I was just curious.”

“Sureee.”

“Hmm. We have English, Math, P.E, and Japanese 101 together, but that’s about it,” you thought out loud, ignoring his comment.

“Guess you’ll be seeing more of me around school,” he smiled, “But hey, maybe I can help you study for those classes in the library? I’m pretty good at Jap 101,” he offered.

You smirked, taking your opportunity to tease.

“That depends. I don’t know why, but something about you tells me that you’re horrible with directions.Will you even be able to find the library?” You cocked a brow.

He chuckled, noting how bold you could be sometimes in the back of his head.

“I’ll admit. I’m not the best with directions, but I do think I could atleast find my way to the library. It might take me a couple tries, but I’ll get there eventually,” he shrugged.

“See? I’m an amazing judge of character,” you smiled proudly.

He rolled his eyes, jokingly, “You always playful like this?”

“Yup,” you nodded, popping the p.

“Well, I guess we can count on having fun together,” he smiled.

Count on?

“I wanna know more about you though. Do you have any other friends? I see you hanging out with those two boys Luffy and Usopp a lot,” you asked.

He chuckled, “Yeah, they’re my friends. I’ve been with ‘em for a long time. I have other friends, too, but most of my closest ones are part of my crew. They’re like family to me. We’ve stuck through thick and thin together.”

“Crew?” You smirked. “You guys a band of pirates or somethin’?”

“That’s exactly what we are. I’m amazed that you’re so perceptive,” he teased.

“Do you think pirates are bad?”

You smiled, “Well in your case, no. Your group actually sounds like a dream. Wish I could join.”

He laughed, “Would you really want to give up your life to run out and sail on the sea with a bunch of pirates? Y’know, it takes a different kind of person to live that lifestyle.”

“I’m more enamored with the freedom aspect. If I get that part, then I’m willing to put up with anything else thrown at me,” you shrugged.

“I see. So really it’s just the idea of living a life of freedom that appeals to you?”

You nodded, “Mhmm. Freedom is amazing. No rules, no responsibilities. You’re free to do whatever you want, eat whater you want, go wherever you want, hangout with whoever you want,” you thoughtlessly glanced over at him once again, “like whoever we want.”

His eyes widened for a second as you gave that glance, befor ehe quickly recovered.

“So you’re saying you have your sights set on me?” He asked with a smirk.

“Well, today just keeps getting better and better. At this rate you’re gonna have me fallin’ for you before the day’s over.”

You were speechless. Unable to do anything but blush and turn away.

He chuckled.

“You’re adorable,” he teased and smiled. “I know I’m a forward guy, but is it too soon for me to ask to go out with you? We did just meet today.”

He spoke in a joking tone, yet you could see from his eyes that he was clearly being serious about the offer.

And while your heart was practically jumping at the chance, your head wanted to take things slow.

And your head seemed to win.

“How ‘bout we get to know each other a little more, then go from there,” you smiled, the two of you walking up the porch steps to your house.

He nodded,

“Fair enough. How about I get your phone number and text you later?” He smirks.

You blushed, “Definitely.”

Quickly whipping out a pen, you scribbled your number onto his hand and gave him a quick peck on the cheek once you were finished.

You gave him a sincere smile.

“See you at school, Mosshead.”

His breath hitched, and his hand rose to feel at the place your lips once were, his cheeks turning a beautiful shade of crimson.

No more big talk now, eh?

Once he composed himself, he smiled at you fondly, a smirk growing on his lips.

“Yeah...see you around... angel,” he replied in a soft tone before turning around and walking away.

Though once he got a safe distance away, he glanced back at your house, allowing his blush to show freely.

He had never had someone affect him in this way.

Two hours ago, he never would’ve dreamed of ever feeling anything for you, the girl who ruined his nap.

But now, you were all he could think about, taking up space in his brain like clutter in an attic.

You were almost unreal, ethereal even.

Your friends were right. You really were an angel.

He has a foot stomping stim, especially when he’s irritated or annoyed (just like me fr fr)

Above average hearing, able to hear pitches others can’t (autism)

Skittish and jumpy in situations he’s nervous/scared

Chewing habit. Will chew on just about anything he’s holding + reason for lip biting habit, his lips aren’t dry, just scabbed (JUST like me fr fr)

Quick and lean, with his legs being his strongest

Hyperactive and energetic when not sleep deprived

Starting with liek idk jsut alterhuman things

I wanna talk abt Springbonnie bcuz that’s William’s biggest outlet for whatever alterhuman shit he’s got going one

He’s probably the most comfortable in that suit than he ever is… like, ever. Springbonnie is I dunno how to explain this. Like a part of him. fursona.? yeah

Basically being in a giant rabbit suit makes many good feelings in his brain -> Easter’s his favorite holiday cuz he gets to be in the suit all day

He was the type of kid that be running around on all fours at recess (I’m projecting I was that kid 😔✊). Totally would’ve been one of the kids that think they’re like a werewolf or something (I was also that kid)

sometimes he genuinely jsut forgets he’s human, also kind of an autistic thing. He’ll be like sitting on a chair reading a book and suddenly remember he’s a human like everyone else he sees in life and not some ambiguous rabbit-like entity

also if he’s ever walking with anyone he actually likes (henry, his kids) and they come across a wild rabbit he will point it out and will not drop it until the other person acknowledges the bunny

Other things he does that r rabbity to me

Likes dry salad, not drenched in ranch or anything, or any other dressing, just leaves and like… whatever else is in salad idk I haven’t had one in years

loves small spaces. If he’s ever overwhelmed at work he just sits under his desk for a few minutes; Henry has “lost” him at least three times to this. He always makes sure when he buys a new bed frame that he can fit under it (I can’t fit under my new one and I am still so upset abt it ☹️)

he’s a very jumpy man if that makes sense. He’s happy or excited he does that lil bouncy thing on his toes. You scared him and he goes ten feet in the air, or he just freezes. (me fr fr)

If his nose is itchy he does that nose scrunching thing

He loves fluffy clothing. Not only is it comfortable but also kinda like fur. Unfortunately there’s really not a lot of fluffy clothing fit for summer, but at least he has his robe

I think he’s also got that leporidae swag. One second he’s like a cute bunny next second he’s got the 1000 yard stare of a hare

He’s probably let random weird shit slip in conversations, like “Life would be easier if I was a bunny”, “Being human is boring”, etc. and Henry just had to get used to it

If he was alive internet-aged (this also applies to glitchtrap-William) he’d totally secretly look at bunny stuff. Like, furries, alter humans, pet regression etc.

Also he collects bunny things, like plushies, figurines, pictures. He has an entire bookcase in his room that just has a bunch of rabbit objects that he’s found while out shopping. i might end up adding more later idk idk

Pain level seems to have stabilized. I'm still super sensitive, and the second I stand it drains everything out of me. But not being in pain just existing now is pretty rad and I'm grateful for it.

I put in a bunch of ILL Requests at the Library this week for Schulke and Boyer texts. Finished them this morning; I want to see how many I can get to come in. If I can get an ok amount, I'm going to turn around and put in Purchase Requests for some of the lower priced volumes; library doesn't want to buy any of the Wiccan texts I suggested because "they're too old" fine. You get purchase requests for Sabbatic and TradCraft books written after 2020 instead 🙃 Either way, I am fighting to expand this Library's Occult offerings in bumfuck nowhere.

Still waiting on any updates about my Mother in Law. She calmed down en route, but was still admitted to the new Hospital for observation; she's still very confused and they're not sure why- let alone why this keeps happening to her. And the Rehab Clinic won't take her until it's settled. Hhh.

I don't know what else to really do with myself today. I need to continue resting and actually recover- which means not doing anything. But not doing anything is so incredibly boring and I'm just not a TV person (Tv is boring, Movies are boring, Books are boring ... This is why I'm not involved in pop culture; it's all just boring to me). Bleh. I dislike having to sit around and do nothing. But if this flare is ever going to go away, I have to.

At least an Orange Peel and Honey candle came in from @myconia yesterday, along with a Rose Milk Tea from my favorite Thai Tea company and a bag of Deathwish's Pumpkin Chai from @filthy-gorgeous. I'm going to enjoy both today, and maybe that'll help with this whole "sitting still really sucks and I don't know how to recover" thing, ha.

Not to mention the book from @lavellan-commander / @henbane-and-honeysuckle- and eventually @musingmelsuinesmelancholy, whenever he finishes the one he's doing, though. The one Henbane sent's already been so wonderful to read through when I have the brainspace enough to focus on it. I can't wait for the other one now. I'm so excited (no rush!)

Genuinely. It means so much to me, y'all. Like, I don't have words for how much these tiny little things are helping just ... Ground us back into reality with everything going on right now. My Husband and I are so appreciative, even if we can't always say thank you the second we get them in, or can't do proper thank you's when we can.

This pains me...

I know a lot of posts have been floating around the whole "system" of Tumblr.. i.e. the reblogs, likes, shares blah blah numbers. yeah.

And to start this off with, I don't care if you like my posts or reblog them.. this is not about me... I am saying this for the people that put a lot of time and effort into their content.. the people that push through this shit with blood, sweat, and tears... out of excitement to share their vision with people. the ones who are now feeling burnt out, overwhelmed, and defeated from the lack of support that is given on this SOCIAL MEDIA platform, the ones who face dms of people attempting to control what they post, and how they post it.

first of all.... who the fuck are you to go into anybody's DMS and think that it's alright for you to BELIEVE you have any power here?

If you don't like something... move. on. Don't follow them. Don't interact with them. that's it!... the audacity, the fucking ego trips some of these people are on, it's unbelievable... get a life, read a book, drink some tea, masturbate... do something other than genuinely making someone feel like shit on a daily bases...

I am not saying you have to be a kiss-ass to everyone... a matter of fact. DO NOT. don't be fake. but if you like something why not tell them? SHARE IT! In this day and age when everyone has so much to say about everything else... you have nothing to say for someone who shares a common interest with you? when did everyone forget to support each other? has the world made you that cold?

I am beginning to see many content creators that I adore so much... drop off all social media (slow down, quiet down.. fade off) platforms due to the lack of support and the hate.... the hate... Stealing from each other, not just content but ideas too... belittling each other, asking people for stuff and not even having the common decency to say thank you or share what you have been gifted by another creator... talking behind each other backs, the envy, the stupid made up rule of "if you like and share one of my posts I'll do the same hehe" *rolling my eyes* This is called a community for a reason... but by the looks of it we are more divided than together... The fact that I read posts of people talking about how "stressed the fuck out" over this they are, or "Am I the problem?" is upsetting...

This is supposed to be fun... and for those of you who say "Well, they are just insecure, don't worry about the numbers, it's about you" go fuck yourself. because you probably get the likes and reblogs, who don't give to their community at all.. just shove that up your ass. respectfully -clears throat- excuse me that was rude... but I meant it. But it's supposed to be fun... there should be no malicious intent here... no undermining, no masterminding the system. what the fuck even? anyway... there should be none of that. Nobody should have to feel like that... ESPACIALLY HERE. did you all forget that we are a bunch of fucking NERDS! cool nerds. But A bunch of fucking nerds playing dress up and storytellers and builders and photographers in a goddamn video game. so what about someone is better than you. and? Did you forget that's how you get better?

being prideful has its perks but it can also turn ugly real quick if used wrong...

2023 Wins

I am very bad at celebrating personal successes (big and small). I tend to simply think “oh well, it’s not that big of a deal, on to the next” instead of letting myself be proud. To combat that, this year I started a tab in my master work/life AirTable to document wins. Here are some of them:

Was nominated for a Daytime Emmy.

Did not check my email on vacation! (This is a big deal for me.)

Quit my WIRED gig to make space for other work (art, fiction, etc).

Joined an art studio to have more space and tools to make things.

Dropped art history class that I wasn’t loving instead of struggling through it.

Got a new book agent who I love.

Squatted 200 lbs. Deadlifted 265 lbs.

Was a Finalist for a Third Coast Award for Welcome to Vanguard Estates.

Had a really successful writing retreat.

Sent my book agent the first 50 pages of my in progress novel.

Sold a huge project I have been pitching for five years!!! (Fuck now I have to do it.)

Learned how to blow glass.

Made some art I’m genuinely proud of.

Hit my “one year of powerlifting regularly” mark.

Got rid of a bunch of old clothes that no longer fit me because now I am swole, and only felt medium bad about it.

Wrote first draft of a short story that I'm genuinely excited about.

Got a another short story optioned for TV development. (If you're a Time Traveler Club member you can read the story!)

Learned how to forage seaweed and identify lichens.

Started volunteering at Creative Growth and learning ASL.

Got really involved in my union, and helped to write our AI Platform.

AND THEN IMAGINE MY SURPRISE WHEN I READ ONE OF YOUR TAGS THAT YOU PUT UP ON ONE OF YOUR POSTS WHERE YOU WERE ANSWERING A QUESTION FROM ANOTHER LOVELY READER AND I SEE THAT YOU TOOK AN ENGLISH A LEVEL?

first of all (not 100% sure on this) but i’m pretty sure only british ppl take gcses, a levels, etc. YOU’RE BRITISH?

i feel like i’ve met my other half rn over something so tiny but yeah. IT LITERALLY EXPLAINS WHY YOUR WRITING IS SO GOOD:

i could point out the NUMBER of times i’ve seen juxtaposition, symbolism, foreshadowing in your fic to someone if they’d asked me to point it out for them. at first i thought you might’ve done it unknowingly, and then i decided that nope, bc foreshadowing is such a BIG writing technique that it simply couldn’t have been by accident.

it’s one thing to know about a writing technique and another to actually be able to SUCCESSFULLY incorporate it into your writing. if it isn’t clear enough, i’m saying that you did it AMAZINGLY. you’ve got a natural talent and i’m envioussss (in a supporting way ofc 😭).

you should really look into making your own book, and i think you EXCEL at the supernatural aspect of plot in stories. your writing is so unique and different yet so warm, it reminds me of autumn (my favourite season).

idk how to end such a long message, ultimately i don’t have a reason for typing this up and shit. ik you have tons of people probably saying the same thing and it might just get repetitive for you, but i wouldn’t feel comfortable not being part of said bunch-of-ppl-probably-saying-the-same-thing.

oh! and take your SWEET TIME updating. it’s your story, your fic, your writing. the ONLY thing we readers can give you as a payback and thanks is time, patience, and understanding <3333

Agh. Yes—I’m British (English to be precise, sweet sweet caroline etc), hence the use of ‘u’s in words like ‘colour’ and ‘humour’, and also why everyone’s parents are their ‘father’ or ‘mother’ and not mum/dad. ‘Mom’ feels too American but ‘mum’ feels too rah engerland, yk? I’ve mentioned previously that I’m looking forward to writing fics where the characters are actually from England and where I’m actually allowed to write them the way I talk, mostly. Good lord am I excited.

And yes lol I took English for an A-Level. Bloody smashed it too, if I get to brag, mwahaha. Didn’t take it any further (I’ve also previously said that I’m a # woman in stem uni student, which is true), but I still write a killer essay imo. Give me 10 minutes to do a refresher on ‘Othello’ (it’s been a while okay) and I can talk for donkeys about his tragic fall and how much of a wanker he is. Which he is! I’m a Desdemona defender for life.

You say ‘natural talent’. PLS. No!! God no. Not at all. I wish—that would’ve made it a lot easier, but whatever I can do rn is down to bloody years of toiling away on my shitty little laptop, I promise. I’ve got another anon ask that asked about some writing tips so I’ll do the bulk of them there but my number 1 will always and forever be to practise. Whatever skill I have now has been earned over the many years. It’s really weird being someone who writes and also someone who enjoys analysing literature; you’re right, half of the ‘techniques’ are intentional (the number of times I’ve flicked through some chapters’ drafts and thought, ‘fucks sake none of this makes sense, I need to add some decent foreshadowing or none of this will make sense in two chapters’), but also so much of my writing is just thinking, ‘hmm, this doesn’t really feel right. No no, I don’t like the vibe of this. I want this to feel more GRAAHHH and less lalalala. Lemme change this up a bit’. Whether that leads to the whole, short sentences->speeds up the pace of the reader when reading the section->increased tension, mimics actual fight encounter, etc etc (all the stuff you blag on about in eng lit), then maybe that counts as intentional? And maybe not.

Making my own book? That’s lovely of you to say but I also really don’t have any ideas for anything non-fanfic’y! Lol. I love a good bit of canon compliance, that’s my issue. That being said—hey, another eng a level reference—I’ve made multiple references here to being the world’s #1 ‘Atonement’ hater. Unfortunately, it also lives damn rent free in my head and I’ve got the bare bones of a WW2-era, perhaps epistolary, longform fic buzzing around. (Fandom: Marauders. I’m a disgrace but here we go). I’ve written nothing for it and maybe I never will, but that’s one of the only things I can see as being more standalone from original canon. Anyway: it’s the fanfic life for me. Ali Hazelwood’s life is but a distant dream.

Hello! Could I please get a matchup for Baldur's Gate 3? 🥺 I'm an autistic she/they enby, I'm fine with any gender, and while I currently work at a library I'm hoping to become a professor of celtic languages and a linguist someday, so I'm learning Scottish Gaelic, Irish and Welsh. At least ad best he could. Honestly it takes him time, but he learns a few basic sentences in your interest languages to impress you, just based on you telling him about them.

○ You play friendly one upping games in teasing one another, but Astarion wins literally every time. You flirt with him, and when he reciprocates he does so with 10x intensity just to make you blush and stutter. He lives(?) for fluttering you. Even as you get brave enough to keep up more, and flirt further, he'll always take it to a higher level just to get those cheeks pink. (Always within your boundaries ofc)

○ Sometimes, with you being so intelligent, goal-driven, and passionate, he would get discouraged in the beginning because he genuinely didn't feel good enough. After many a long talk and a little time, he finally finds his place in supporting you - emotionally and physically. You teach him that you rely on him too, and that goes from something scary to something that gives him purpose. Cooking, cleaning -- he's more surprised than you are to find himself helping with those things after you've passed out from a day of work and research.

1. It brought me joy and fandom and friendship again and made me feel like myself after a very long time. I know the narrative can be traumatic but it also has these incredible moments that just feel you with awe (like Todo turning up to help Yuji fight or seeing Gojo do hollow purple for the first time) it just reminded me of everything I love about anime.

2. My first real fandom, the first thing I wrote proper fanfiction for. The lore and the music and the animation just amazed me when I saw it when I was 11 and I've not been happy with decisions they've made recently (overpriced merch in a cost of living crisis, NFTs to celebrate Plastic Beach?!?) I'll still always love them and be excited for new content.

3. First anime love, first time seeing a relationship with two women helping me to identify as bi (now I'd say pan) I grew up believing that to be a strong woman you had to disregard femininity and seeing Usagi be the strongest with her bunny drawings and her focus on friendship and love just rewired my brain.

4. I love horror, I was brought up with it but for a very long time nothing has scared me and I found horror media repetitive. Outlast genuinely scared me and I was SO happy and I love reading the character notes and comics.

5. I've talked about this series a bunch but A Marvellous Light was the first book I'd read in years that made me cry and just stayed in my head for ages. Everything I'd loved about harry potter but done properly.

6. I was at a sleepover at a friend's and someone stuck this on and everyone was talking and I was just glued to the screen because what the FUCK WAS THIS?!?!? I've watched it since with my husband and it still hits me so hard every time. It's such a powerful portrayal of depression and nihilism and how relationships can fuck you up. It's beautiful and I think it's one of the best anime's of all time.

7. The opposite of neon Genesis lol. Love and family and forgiveness and what it means to sacrifice for the people you care about. Devoured brotherhood with my husband and we were both in tears by the end of it. I'd also been told I couldn't have kids and we had struggled with a miscarriage and Izumi and Sig just hit me so hard. (I have a bub now tho it came out ok in the end) but the characters still feel so real and there's so many amazing moments.

8. I listened to all of this and played Minecraft with my husband till like 6 am on weekends. We would discuss at length our theories and it just holds a special place in my heart. It's perfect horror and John and Martin's relationship just means a lot to me. I related a LOT to Martin and loved the series and I've super been enjoying the Magnus Protocol too! Also that first fucking recording of Nikola Orsinov?!?!? We both sat still staring at each other genuinely freaked the fuck out and we still quote it at each other! "I mean, you can if you really want to, but you’re not going to like it." CHILLS EVERY FUCKING TIME!!!

9. I read a lot of BL manga with my friends (*old lady voice* back in my day we called it Yaoi!!!) And so many of them had terrible tropes and big hands. This was the first one I ever read that I still adore that had an amazing love story and plot. It was revolutionary to see an LGBTQ story not just about them being gay or coming out but it had real detective cases and murders etc and I still wish we could get a tv show of it.

10. When Gojo talked about Digimon I fell even further in love. It's the fucking best. I wanted to be Mimi so BAD as a kid my mum made me a Halloween costume of her and I thought I was so cool. My next tattoo is gonna be Lilymon. I grew up with it in the dub and it established my sense of humour for better or worse. The Digimon film is still my comfort film of choice. Matt was such a big crush I had when I was little and I wrote little stories about being one of the digidestined.

Tagged by @sarenhale ! I didn't have access to my computer the past couple days so I'm a bit late, but this was a lot of fun!! Thank you for the tag <3

Last Song: lately I've been relaxing to the Hollow Knight OST (City of Tears best track) but in terms of lyrical music, I recently rewatched the music video for "Little Dark Age" by MGMT because its vibes are fucking impeccable and mesmerizing (I can watch it on repeat for hours)

Favorite Color: purple is my go-to answer (especially blue-ish purples), but I also really love dark greens and desaturated earthy colors so much

Last Movie/TV Show: I feel like I haven't been watching movies lately (I'm more of a show person because I like longer form narratives) but I think the last one I watched was "Better Off Dead" while I was visiting my family for the holidays. It was a weird/surreal but good time! As for shows, I finally got around to watching Scavenger’s Reign!! Every aspect was just amazing, especially the worldbuilding and visuals. 2D animation is probably my favorite medium, so I'm really glad we're seeing more animation for adults that wants to tell a story instead of being a delivery device for lame sex jokes and cringe humor. OH ALSO DUNGEON MESHI!!! For a lot of the same reasons! Excited to watch the new episode tonight :>

Sweet / Spicy / Savory: I have a HUGE sweet tooth, so if I had to pick one, that would be it. Savory foods are great and I love them, I just have a leftover "now's your chance!" impulse from not being allowed much sugar as a kid that I can't seem to get rid of. I'm also weak to the "I deserve a lil treat" trap if I've got a bunch of sweet snacks around, so I have to be careful. As for spicy….I am SO completely unable to handle spicy food it’s almost funny, but really it’s just tragic because I LOVE cuisines known for being spicy, like mexican and thai. If I eat out, I always have to be like “can you please make it mild?” and even then, if it's not seasoned for the babiest of babies, my mouth will burn and my weak, white-person tummy will hurt.

Relationship Status: I keep forgetting I’m getting married in less than six months. My partner and I got engaged like two years ago and have lived together for almost five, so my brain just defaults to "there’s probably a guy nearby" and doesn’t think much deeper on it than that.

Last thing I googled: "morels" because I was discussing mushrooms with my friend and those are some cool lookin' guys! Shaggy ink caps too!

Current Obsession: …….One Piece 😅 I was a big fan as a teen but only got as far as the Skypiea arc before I fell off reading/watching it. The hype over the new live action version reminded me the series existed, so I’ve been not so slowly making my way through again, picking up where I left off. I love how absolutely bonkers, there-are-no-rules, anime-ass-anime it is, but also how genuine and heartfelt it can be. I also enjoy how character-driven so much of the plot is which works because of how interesting the characters are (Chopper, Robin, and Franky are my favs). I just got to the timeskip, so I’m maybe…halfway through? between this and BG3, RIP my free time lol

Last Book: I've been reading through Seiji Yoshida's "Houses with a Story" (slowly, because I want to really take it in and savor it) and it's been a delight. Very relaxing and inspiring :> (up next, I finally got copies of the Locked Tomb series, so soon I will be enjoying The Space Lesbians)

Looking forward to: Being able to organize and enjoy my "new" office space after some hectic days! My partner and I realized we barely spend any time in our bedroom except for sleeping, so we swapped my office into the bigger room in our apartment! There were some complications with getting the internet working on my PC, but we finally got it all smoothed out. Now I finally have all my books and sewing/crafting/creative stuff in one place without it feeling cramped or hiding things away in storage :>
