a year in review of my art! I didn't have lots of time to draw this year, and I feel like I didn't improve much, but hopefully next year I'll have more time. it's been really frustrating this year because I've felt like my work doesn't look like how I want it to look, combined with otiose worries like being unskilled for my age, but I'm motivated to work harder and learn new things✨

btw if you are at all wondering why i can forgive/think neutrally about the sexism present in tim's comics but i can and will get extremely disgruntled about how bg09 has sexism problems and complain about it, it's because tim's comics are in no way, shape, or form ever supposed to be seen or read as a feminist work (it's usually written by a sexist man for white teenage boys, and i can accept that) whereas it's obvious bqm is writing bg09 like he's under the impression what he's writing is somehow a great win for women characters and feminism in comics while every page and plot is dripping with sexist ideas of women & women interacting with each other, extremely sexist ideals of the good not-like-other-girls girl vs all those other brainless harpies (much like any cw show has), utter lack of respect for any woman character who is not the main character, sexist male/female dynamics, ableism, racism, and just very shallow characterization and motivation in general.

#like this is including the steph and damian interactions btw sorry. those were def probably a high point #but those are also dripping in boys will be boys mentality and the whole idea of perky blonde teenager girl #teaches recalcitrant sullen little boy how to have fun which is also still entrenched in #the sexist dynamic of girls being expected to manage and teach boys how to behave better no matter what they say or do to you #(like don't get me wrong it's a good story for damian to learn from her) #(but is it a good story for a woman character in steph to be cast in the 'girl has to teach boy to respect women #as he's throwing sexist insults as her? sorryyyy it's just. leaning into the idea that girls have to teach boys to do better.) #anyways. i can forgive a comic for being exactly what it is and having no illusions of being anything else #i have very little patience for something that's pretending to be what it's not actually #actually i could probably forgive it for being a product of it's time if it wasn't upheld as such a win for women

i have managed to actually do a hobby for the first time in months. yippee

#executive dysfunction and depression are kicking my ass #like severely. i am apathetic about everything and so so tired. things that brought me the most joy are no longer available to me #like. i love you so much you are so important to me but i no longer have the ability to care or do anything about it #things i love the most are behind a glass door that i can't unlock. or break. #sewing and embroidery especially are like. things i very much love and aspire to do but they are SO time and energy consuming #i don't have the patience #i stayed up till 4 am listening to lenka králová's interviews with trans people and it made me a little hopeful #currently transition doesn't really feel possible and i kind of just want to die so. hearing from others who made it was important #i also appreciated the comments #because a lot of them are from cis people. who didn't really know things about trans people but are learning thanks to lenkas channel #and after hearing a bit about our lifes their reaction is usually to applaud the strength we have. to be ourselves #and it's heartwarming to read. that there are people who learn. and can empathise in some way. that not everyone hates us #'you only have one life and no one else is going to live it for you. so you better be yourself' or something along that was in one of them #most of the comments under every video are just people saying how beautiful Lenka looks and yeah. true #i love her

lolol i went back to look at the first käärijä drawings i ever did on procreate...... the very first one i didn't even TRY to finish bc i had no clue what i was doing 😂 i've never really done digital art before the käärijä brainrot set in (and suddenly gave me more motivation to draw than i have ever had in all my life), as you can probably tell looking at these PFFFT

You know, I went into the anime adaptation of the Swordsmith Village Arc knowing it just wasn't going to have the same punch as previous arcs due to the pacing (primarily being a vehicle for flashbacks as opposed to slowly building tension), lack of impactful villains (Hantengu's back story simply does not have the impact or emotional draw of Rui or the Shabana siblings, and Gyokko is... he's just Gyokko), and incomplete-feeling character arcs (this is all set-up for pay-off on Mitsuri, Muichiro, and Genya, whereas Uzui & Rengoku had more satisfying arcs contained within single story arcs).

I knew this, and despite not totally sticking the landing with filler, I think Ufotable did a fine job with the material they had to work with.

I do have one criticism, though.

Nightmare is not the PTA type. Lyra might, but not sure if she would either. If Nightmare did join the PTA, well... not sure how happy everyone would be.

But he might attend a school board meeting now and then... and let's just say, the school board flinches if Nightmare stands up to speak and he does not appear pleased.

Please remember, that Nightmare is purely self-educated. He understands the purpose of schools, as not everyone is as intelligent as he is (that is his ego talking, but let's face it, that is something he deserves to be egotistical about), but he questions how necessary they truly are unless they have a strong curriculum.

He also does not feel teachers who let students 'slide' are worth paying. A teacher is hired to educate children. Not be a friend, enable poor learning, or teach things you are not hired to teach. (And yes, he understands students should be able to trust their teachers, but that doesn't mean they have to be friends. He has plenty of allies he trusts that he would not consider friends.) He very easily could home school his sons all the way through to college. He just felt they needed more socialization with children their age, as he doesn't have many outlets for them that have others their age.

So, if he feels a teacher isn't providing at least the education that he could provide for his sons, he is not pleased. Parent Teacher conference is... a nerve-wracking time for some teachers when they have one of Nightmare's boys in their class.
