My country in particular had one of the most brutal dictatorships in latam. Over 40.000 people were killed, tortured or simply dissapeared just to prevent socialism, despite the socialist president at the time being chosen democatrically.

Now, women, mostly college students feminists at the time were systematically tortured. I'm not talking about internet persecution or some horrible missgender crime. I'm talking of whole brigades raping 14 to 21 year old girls. I'm talking of soldiers setting girls on fire. I'm talking about men open pregnant women to dispatch the baby. I'm talking about torture and murder.

Why? because they dared to talk about politics, because they dared to talk about contraceptives. About feminine issues. For being Left.

It was also a time where the wrong opinion could get you killed, could mean your children being killed. For being brown, for being indio, for being poor. But the white men need to speak, the gringo has something to say, they need us to respect their pronouns and go along with their progress. Like, in the COD fandom I've seen a bunch of people getting hounded for posting or consuming dark content, I've also gotten a couple messages about it. And, like, hey buddy? Who really cares.

Fiction and reality are two separate things.

Also, why are you attacking me, a 20 year old who lives with their mom and writes for their ten consultant followers and not, oh, I don't know...

Stephen King, who has that whole underage sewer orgy scene in It.

Or the e creators of call of duty for creating literal propaganda. Because, hey besties, yes, that's what COD is. Propaganda. They want you to see it and be like, "yay, guns and the military!" And that's the thing about fiction. It's allowed.

The issue at hand is, in my mind, an issue of deeper reading comprehension or complex thoughts. And a lack of understanding of catharsis.

No one is saying these things are good. But these things exist in the world, like it or not. And in my mind, it's better to portray them in fiction than not at all. Because at least in portraying it awareness can be spread.

And again, if you don't like something, if it triggers you, just don't read it. It's simple. Like if you're watching a movie and can't stand blood so you cover your eyes not to see. You aren't going to go after the director are you? No. You're going to take steps to protect yourself against content you don't want to see or consume.

I think it's an issue of separating fan works from "real" works. Those who say fan art isn't real art or fanfiction isn't real writing. So perhaps in those people's minds, fan works, not being "real" means that they shouldn't portray things we see in reality.

So this is the first time I fucked up the fast. I still did manage to keep a net caloric intake of about 700cal because of cardio. But I was so out of it in the morning that i forgot to remove the egg yolks in my eggs. And egg yolks are so full of carbs and delicious delicious fats.

It didn’t ruin the day by any means, and arguably made the morning much more bearable. But it was an extra like 200 calories that I could have docked.

Only one meditation this week and it was very standard. Just trying to sort out my brain and prioritize things so i don’t feel so overwhelmed. Coalesce and relax and remind myself that not everything is actually important. Things can go undone if they don’t need to be. Set things in order so that you can deal with the few important things and everything else can go on auto mode.

Always doing this ngl. I wake up from my pre-gym nap and i stroke a bit before getting ready. But also i did break the edging streak…several times..with a cute himbo slut tho so it’s alright. i don't play/read/watch Warhammer 40k, but i've got a bunch of friends and online acquaintances that do, so it's frequently in my orbit so i do kind of think about it frequently, especially how it seems to have evolved from "flawed critique of fascism" to "expansive sci-fi setting with many writers each doing their own things" and thus the Imperium ends up being both The Bad Guys and The Good Guys

and there's something particularly striking, the 'His Angels' comic got me thinking about it first, with how the Space Marines, the literal face of WH40K, as well as the face of it's military in universe are. hm. not voluntary? like, you don't join the Space Marines (afaik), you can't, they're test tube vat babies aren't they? some sort of clones? literally grown to be the empire's super soldiers, quite literally larger than life in their bulky armor and huge swords. they're this perfect icon of what the Imperium wants to be, wants itself to be seen as, this invincible iron god of sheer martial prowess and bravery, boot crunching down on the skulls of dead Xenos with one hand holding aloft the Imperium's flag...

...and that can never be you, right? if you're a 'normal' citizen of the Imperium, that may be a pretty image, but that's something you can never be a part of because that's not how the Imperium's military works when it comes to the Space Marines, the most you can hope for is to be cannon fodder for them. and then i think about 'Chaos Marines' or whatever they're called, i don't know a lot about them, i just know there are basically some evil smarines out there, and i guess most of them have been corrupted the evil gods or something. which is whatever, what i prefer to think about is like. putting aside the idea of magical corruption, what sociopolitical factors could lead to a Space Marine defecting or betraying or falling?! if you're put on so high a pedestal by the populace, they may one day wonder why you're so high above them what makes you so different from them, the distance between normal humans and super soldiers too far to span, which could lead to resentment on both sides. especially since, afaik, the Space Marines are fighting a losing battle, there are so many enemies out there so of course you can't win them all, but you'd be pissed if the guys born and bred for war can't even win it, like what's even the point?! that image of the Space Marine, of the invincible Imperium, is unobtainable, both for the normal citizens and the Marines themselves. and how that sort of realization must break a man, to realize what you're been trained to be is something you can never be, to see that for all the sacrifices made, humanity is still losing (maybe, i've got no idea), and then to be hated or scorned by the people you're sworn to protect because you're doing a shit job of it. i personally wouldn't call those sorts of doubters Agents of Chaos, but 40K is a setting of extremes and i can definitely see how the Imperium would label anyone who was even just feeling a little reformist as a 'heretic', which would/could then in turn push said reformers or doubters or Xeno sympathizers into the arms of Chaos or Xenos or rebels.

i dunno, it's just something i find interesting, i do find the setting as a whole pretty intrigueing despite how messy it seems in terms of management and thematic coherence.

God I literally have so many headcanons I can't even sort them properly in my head?? I love these headcanons though, very cute.

I've talked before about my 2003 Age Role headcanons. I have a headcanon that was originally @pileofpawns (I BELIEVE???) where 2003 Mikey couldn't figure out his music player so he's just been jamming to royalty free music that was already on the player this whole time. I find that amusing. I like it. Very Mikey-esque.

I headcanon 2003 Leo as absolutely horrible at cooking, 03 Donny also is (apparently canonically he cannot work a cooker to save his life which I found out recently) though I like to believe Donny got banned from the kitchen because he kept taking stuff apart instead of cooking. I see him more of a baking boy.

2003 Raph is an extrovert and no one will convince me otherwise !!! As much as he wants to be a lone wolf, he makes literally the most amount of friends in the show besides Mikey. LEO'S THE LONE WOLF IRONICALLY? I headcanon that it has something to do with the fact that he was manipulated by Shredder at the beginning of the show, and has a harder time trusting others unless his brothers do first. Donny's pretty friendly and makes a lot of friends as well.

2003 Donny has autism, Leo has OCD, Mikey has ADHD, and Raph has intermittent explosive disorder. Raph's far-sighted. They're all ace! Raph and Donny are both aro. Mikey's pan and Leo's gay. I generally headcanon Raph and Leo as cis, Mikey as genderfluid and Donny as nonbinary (usually agender). I do absolutely. LOVE trans Raph, "Ell" though, by @20s-turtle-posting. That's not really a headcanon I just love Ell.

For Rise, I feel like I have a lot of the usual ones? Like, Donnie's the older twin, Leo's the team medic (and also still can't cook), Leo's got insomnia, they basically all have one, the other, or a mix of adhd and autism.

I also have Raph's got dyslexia. I don't have any specific queer headcanons because I like a bunch of different ones, it tends to switch around depending on the vibe.

I haven't rolled the Rise boys around in my head for as long as 2003 so I don't know all of my headcanons for them fhgjdgh they pretty much all pop up in GitS though.

Okay, I'm gonna try to stump you with this one:

What can you tell me about cat breeding and dog breeding?

There are different so-called "breeds" of dogs and cats, but they are all still distinctly dogs and cats. There are no ligers or mules among them where the genetics come to a halt (at least that's my understanding).

How does that whole thing work? And how did breeders manage to make breeds to be hypoallergenic (poodles), or hunt badgers (corgis), or racers (greyhounds), or hunt wolves (borzhois), or good swimmers (poodles again), or guard dogs (a bunch)?

I know significantly less about breeds of cats. Siamese are those skinny ones, persians have flat faces, and I forget the name that still has tiger stripes. My knowledge stops there.

Chromosomes.

Breeders bred dogs that held favorable traits, if a dog was larger he would breed it with another larger dog, same for if it was smaller, a breed is represented by a sufficient number of individuals that stably transfer specific characteristics over generations.

Dogs of the same breed have similar characteristics of appearance and behavior, primarily because they come from a select set of ancestors who had the same characteristics.

While it is true that all dogs are dogs, the breeds can be seen in the same light as human adaptation, people have evolved to suit a wide variety of climates and adapted different behaviors and appearances due to this, dog breeds are artificially induced adaptation, known to the layman as selective breeding, or to those of us who understand it, the only acceptable form of eugenics.

This is why despite dogs all being dogs, a terrier is different to a mastiff, they were bred for different jobs and thus have different morphologies and behaviors, terriers are typically ratting dogs who live on farms to chase out vermin, such as rats, mice, badgers etc, while mastiffs are guard and fighting dogs.

Modern breeds are primarily bred for looks, while the old working breeds still exist, many have lost their purposes, for instance many don't know this but Poodles weren't bred to be show dogs, they were also working dogs, they were bred to be water retrievers who swam out to fetch water fowl.

I mention poodles because they are the reason hypoallergenic dog breeds exist, they have hair instead of fur, this helped poodles not retain water and sink like a brick while swimming, this trait was then bred into other dogs by breeding with poodles which helped to prevent dander and shedding that led to allergies.

Something that you have to acknowledge is that we have been selectively breeding dogs for as long as we've known them, from killing off those who bit the hand of their master to choosing who they can breed with based on how they performed and behaved.

So, for more than 30'000 years we have been shaping dogs to fill roles given to them, hunting game, retrieving game, protecting crops and livestock, protecting settlements, war, pest control etc etc, as much as they are man's best friend they are also one of man's best tools.

What is your most disagreement take within the dog community? Not to start anything, but honestly curious as I'm wondering what you think needs to be addressed more within the community; like breed discrimination, or certain breeds having bad traits, or people having not so good ideas on what certain breeds should be.

1.) the dog community is huge so there’s not going to be a single opinion I can have that is is wide disagreement with it as a whole as it is too diverse for this to occur, however these are all my ~unpopular~ dog opinions:

I think the way that the AKC registers and titles dogs for conformation needs major reform. I think saying conformation is a “sport” as a majority of people here in North America do is harmful and breeds a competitive spirit in breeders/owners/and handlers as well as an unnecessary amount of physical uniformity within dog breeds.

What I would like to see (and what would never happen):

-graded conformation. (Meets standard Excellent, Good, Fair, Poor as an example). Get rid of the current point system.

-dogs must pass breed appropriate health testing and temperament testing to be championed or graded excellent and good examples of breed). For working breeds this in my opinion should include a working test of some kind.

- do not allow professional handlers.

-only register puppies of health tested parents.

- allow intact mixed bred dogs to compete in sporting, trick, companion test events and generally stop the villainizing of breeding mixed breed dogs when said breeding is done appropriately.

Not AKC related I think that in North America more shelters need to not be so strictly no kill (this opinion may be controversial amongst some dog folk but idc). There are dogs that are not temperamentally okay to live, such as those posing a legitimate danger to people and the general public, and letting them go painlessly is better than them languishing in the shelter system for years. The funds used to keep these dogs could be better served helping dogs that can actually be homes safely and/or helping struggling community members so their dogs do not have to enter the shelter system.

-FUND LOW COST VETERINARY CARE

-stop continuing to push laws and local legislation that seeks to restrict how people contain their dogs outside. Instead focus on reaching out to struggling community members in a positive way and respond to ethics concern with care for both the dogs and people involved. Funding low cost alternative containment/helping generally better containment and welfare of animals is imo better than legislating away the problem.

in a dog breed sense: stop woobifying dog breeds with the potential for aggression both towards dogs and people. Playing down a breed or dog type’s potential for dog or human aggression is not only dangerous but does a huge disservice to these breeds.

In a dog breeding sense: I think that those looking to better legitimize several popular companion breed mixes are doing good work but ultimately if they can’t drop the designer name and/or rally their communities instead of dividing into a bunch of little groups they are unlikely to succeed as they are then falling into some of the same traps as some purebred breeds. They have an opportunity to do better without hard baking those divisions into their communities.

-Stop naming dog breeds after indigenous racial slurs. Stop naming non indigenous dog breeds after indigenous groups.

-Companionship is a purpose.

-many dogs bred for sport are not fit temperamentally for their original purpose.

-“hated” dog breed mixed such as doodles and wolfdogs are NOT going away and are already being bred in large numbers (doodles way more obviously). Any attempts by the dog fancy or ethics groups to legislate these out of existence is pointless and will fail. Instead try and nudge these communities towards better breeding ethics and customer education. Uplift the breeders in these communities doing good work for health and temperament testing.

-people really need to stop adding Merle into every goddamn dog mix. It takes a lot of knowledge to breed Merle carefully. Some Merle variants in established purebreed dogs need serious examination from an ethical standpoint.

-crates are fine but like many other tools are very often over used to the point of cruelty. I usually find them unnecessary past puppyhood for well adjusted adult dogs.

-stop expecting everybody else to love your dog just because YOU love your dog. Your dog’s freedoms should not come at the expense of the general public’s ability to walk, bike, exist safely within public spaces.
