i'll admit i am a little cynical about popular interpretation of hua cheng because of the aspects of his character that people tend to focus on. but the animation... i am so happy that they took the time to let him have his soft expressions. his surprise, his vulnerability... the little look on his face at the end of episode four has me losing my mind a little bit. everything i could've asked for in a hua cheng depiction. and the little trailer of him with his golden fan in the next ep... i am so glad he gets to be sharp and violent too :D

#THERE IS CONTEXT TO THIS I SWEAR #I toured a wildlife rehab facility today that I’m hoping to intern at #and they stressed the importance of keeping the animals wild so they can be re-released #meaning the animals should NOT be acclimated to or comfortable around humans #my impulse would ALWAYS be to talk soothingly and be quiet and gentle with them but that’s actually not a good thing in rehab #and one of the suggestions was. if the raccoons crowd you. spray them in the butt with water.#I’m sorry but that’s such a funny mental image to me #yes I am bringing you food but I am also the big scary thing with the hose. get away from me. I love you.#(obviously this is referring to when you need to enter the cages of healthy animals. they certainly weren’t advocating general terrorization #vin screams into the void

It is a really a cool reoccurring bit of lore for me that Elden Ring sort of reused the "conflict" between Choir and Willem's teachings from Bloodborne with Raya Lucaria's primeval current and the ideas that Carians brought!

Imposter Iosefka is the best example of the Choir's generic mindset we have, speaking about transcending the "stupidity" and forcibly turning people into cosmic Kin! More or less Sellen is a very good successor to this character, especially with the fact that Choir and ancient sorcerers (?) both have history of experimenting on children (Choir's Orphanage + little Aurelia and Aureliette being implied to have their souls cut with a glintstone blade). And in general, Raya Lucaria and Research Hall (that IS the past of what is now the Choir) are okay with experimenting!

But Willem, after all, suggested that humanity is better evolved and improved than abandoned completely, he said to possibly level with Great Ones as men! I can see this sort of parallel with Rennala and generally Carian standards being brought back; interest in the 'Moon' suggests something closer to the human plane. Like, instead of obsessing over stars and nothing but stars and sipping that cosmic horror and "returning" to them as "fallen children of the stars", it brings more attention to THE satellite that is close to humans and is less otherworldly both physically and philosophically! Both games have their academy that fell for its own hubris to propose the conflict of 'do you see humanity as useless shackle to cast away and become something bigger, or as something you should cherish but also improve and evolve with the wisdom you can get from otherworldly sources?' . And this is so cool!

Again, I guess it is the question players should answer to on their own. Both games try to nudge us to sympathize with 'humanity is not a liability' side of the question, saying that Willem was different from Choir and would be heartbroken about Mensis, and posing Carians as more sympathetic guys with showing Sellen (that speaks for primeval current) as this kinda... callous, determined woman... But you still COULD say that true discovery and knowledge demands great sacrifices and people that can't choke their human morality won't bring TRUE progress. Just... Elden Ring opened and explored the conflict way better, it is much plain to see advantages and disadvantages of both sides! It is less of intuitive speculation with subtle details than in was in Bloodborne, I am just DELIGHTED that they revisited the interesting issue in the next game. Basically nothing shows caring about the messages they want to deliver and discussions they want to raise in the fandom than "We didn't say that loud enough in the previous game, let's try again but better".

Today's fun was the supervisor at the placement agency texting me that they have a new lady to place with me starting next week who speaks predominantly spanish but 'some' english.

I texted back asking if this woman spoke at least more english than the last two I had panic attacks over my failures to communicate well with etc, and was told that apparently I am not allowed to reject anyone based on language barriers to keep my help through them and medicaid and that this is my third and final try at a placement, and that if I reject this new lady due to language barriers I will get terminated as a client with their service.

This is the first time anyone has told me in one of these conversations that I have been breaking rules by wanting someone I can talk to and give instructions to without having to use Google Translate on my phone or calling the supervisor at the agency and hoping she actually picks up the phone to act as translator.

It's my 'third strike' and I wasn't even told that I was striking the previous two times.

I pointed out that it would have been nice if anyone had told me that I was going against some kind of rule the last two times and that I was being written up/getting into trouble with the agency, and was told, "I'm sorry you don't remember being told about this. It has always been part of your paperwork."

What paperwork, Janice, the paperwork I fucking signed 8 years ago and haven't read to refresh myself on since then and don't even know where it is so I can't dig it up easily to see if you're even telling me the fucking truth?

Because even if it is in that paperwork who the fuck regularly rereads all the way through dense contracts to spot anything they missed the first time and doesn't need reminders? Definitely not my fucking disabled and mentally ill neurodivergent ass.

They are seriously trying to make me doubt my memory as to whether or not I have gotten any warnings in the last year or two about this apparent rule and trying to pretend that it's the most normal thing in the world to not issue verbal warnings until it's the last chance.

I have never had a problem with this agency before, in my mind. In my mind they were always trying their best and I was very happy with them

I am so fucking unhappy with them at this moment it is off the charts.

#; ♡ ; okay to reblog #muu has admittedly been describing is self perceived melancholy and isolation regarding it #as being comparable to the circle drawn around Sadness in Inside Out due to others finding his emotions to be Too Much in capacity #and that as such he has thus been persistently trying to make himself very very small in spaces #so that maybe perhaps someone would soon be able to reside in the circle with him just until he gets to where he feels he is supposed to be #muu has also stated on numerous actions that while he is adamant about self healing he is not necessarily of preference #to not have the assistance of peers and their feedback and he tends he show it most predominantly in asking them to hear Everything #about himself in the form of the big box because one he wants assurances at the end of it all but also because he Has to be explaining #his processes of thought and general state of where he is now to people so that they may go Oh so that why you do the neurotic shit you do #but it really be hard out here when you don't know how to self advocate for a persistently emotionally present romantic partner #you don't really have any friends and you are either God awful at making new ones or you don't want to try for reasons of either #feeling scorned past close friends of yours have left time and time again OR #because you don't know what version of yourself is the Real one or the Good one or the Authentic one so you avoid socializing #until you can properly answer that dilemma but in turn you've left yourself with 1 person to seek out and talk to #but with that comes the existential dread of either a this person is also going to leave me or #b I am in fact so totally codependent on them that it isn't fair to be my sole research for assistance that I ought to fend for myself #but what do you even do to fend for yourself when you don't even know how to Advocate for yourself??#you devise a plan to shrink down and provide no indication to those around you that you are struggling with anything #that perhaps shriveling yourself down like that will allow for people to find you tolerable enough to be around #and that their presences will patch up every interpersonal wound in your system until eventually what you are faking has come true #; ♡ ; inner thoughts

So over in SIFAS, Rina's bond story has been about making an ultimate hamburger for Mia, and after Mia runs off to show the masterpiece she's gotten to the other girls in the dorm, we get this discussion:

And I've made the observation that this part of their story has been almost generational — that Misato was to the very young Ai what Ai has been to Rina, and that Rina is trying to do the same for Mia — and then they come out and say it...!

I love this dynamic, and I love more how it's all rooted in genuine care and friendship. Ai reached out to Rina when she saw that Rina needed a friend — that's really her superpower — but they stay close because they genuinely enjoy each other's company. And Rina reached out to Mia in the same way, and for the same reason, and it's obvious how much the two adore each other.
