Haikyuu Chapter 365: Endings And Beginnings 2

REFLECTION:

Hinata got a fever. I would make a joke here but I'm relieved that he didn't have something more serious. Sadly, reality has decided to ensue and his Shonen keetness has finally begun to work against him. He's been "on" since the previous day and his body working at 100% overtime has taken a number on his immune system.

Hinata is all I Can Still Fight but Takeda puts his foot down like he did with Sawamura. Hinata has to be taken out of the rest of the game. Takeda gives him a speech that boils down to "This is going to happen again and you should be prepared for it. With your height and physical ability, you need to always put your health first.

Tanaka and Tsukishima take a The Man Show way to cheering him up, calling him a baby and telling him that with his mutant metabolism, he'll be fine after a night's sleep. Sawamura is more adult about it, telling Hinata that the team needs him so he needs to rest up so that he can get back out onto the court. The rest of the team gives similar encouragements but Kageyama, infamous cunt that he is, simply says this:

"The one who stays on the court the longest...I win this one too."

Hinata takes it like a champ though:

Hoshiumi, before Hinata leaves the court, shouts that he'll be waiting for him. Not in this match but when they inevitably meet again Haikyuu 3000: the controversial apocalyptic sci-fi sequel where Hinata awakens from a cryo-sleep to take on despotic aliens and cyborg former allies and rivals in a deadly volleyball landscape.

The chapter ends with one of the twins douchely pointing out it took several of the best volleyball teams in the prefecture but Hinata has finally been forced out.

Hi! Thank you for sending in a request and I apologise that it took longer for me to post this lol. Though, I like writing this piece. I am not as well versed with the other Adlers team members, but I hope I did them justice lol.

Summary:  You suddenly give birth before your expected due date; however, they are in an away game and can’t be go home.

USHIJIMA WAKATOSHI

Ushijima Wakatoshi is so calm as he can be that sometimes you can't read what he is saying.  Though, the moment he got a phone call from you, he was all over the place.  It was late at night in the country he was in when you called him.  He took that call and his calm state of mind went downhill.  You're a few hours away from giving birth.  You are already in the hospital going through labour when you decided to call your husband.

"Babe?" You say when you don't hear a response from Ushi.  However, you later hear a few fuss and thud at the other end.  Little did you know that Ushi is finding his contact list book and his baby book he bought when he finds out you are pregnant.

Without a second to pass he is asking for a video call.  You insist on having him rest since he has a game the next day; however, he insists on putting the tablet in somewhere sturdy and where he can see you.  At that, he then gives you encouraging words.  He also called for Satori to be with you.  He tells Satori things he must do.  He remains like that until the time you give birth.  The call had to be turned off during the giving birth stage which is why he is pacing back and forth the hotel room.

All thoughts are running in his head.  Nicolas, who is sleeping in the next room, has to calm him down.  Though, it didn't work at all.  After two hours of waiting, he then gets a video call from you.  He immediately answers it.

His heart then is at ease the moment he sees your smile and the little baby girl in your arms.

"A girl, babe," you said. "We get to use the name you've always wanted,"

Ushi falls in love with his daughter and can't stop looking at her as you show her to him.

"Now, you should prepare for the game, sweetie.  Yelena and I are cheering for you," you said.

At that, he performed better in the game and actually managed to win without any effort.

TOBIO KAGEYAMA

Kageyama most likely froze on the spot when you said that you were in labor.  A part of you knew that this might happen when he finds out you are to give birth and he is not there with you.  He has been boasting about how he'll be the best husband to assist you all through it.  In Kageyama terms, this situation may sound like a defeat to him.

You may have had to inconvenience Ushi by calling him and asking if Kageyama is alright.  Ushi then simply had Kageyama sit on the couch and give the phone to him.

"Baby, it'll be alright.  Hinata is here with me.  It's not your fault, alright?" You said.

Kageyama then takes a deep breath and mutters an "okay".

"I'm here for you," he said.

"Don't worry.  When you get home, you'll meet little Hiro," you encouraged him.

At that, he stays in the call with you (despite the fact that he is using Ushi's phone).  Whenever he hears you groan out of pain, he'll tell you to breathe through the pain.  He also may have scolded Hinata for not giving you ice chips.  He's there for you.  Though, little did you know that tears are in his eyes whenever he hears you cry from the pain.  It was such a long labor and thankfully when the time has arrived, he is the happiest man in the world.

Before he comes home, he may have bought all the finest facial and body wash products you love and bought his son almost every toy he saw in a shop.  He can't wait to come home to his family.

NICOLAS ROMERO

I kind of feel like Nicolas is making a plan for everything to be a win-win.  When he gets a message from you that you are in labor the time before his game, he immediately makes a plan.  He books a ticket, talks to his coach about leaving after the game, and also orders every gift he could possibly think of to the hospital you are in.  He is game on.

He is too focused on the game with the eagerness of wanting to finish it early.  Though, when he and his team manage to finish the game, all his plans fade away when he gets a video from you showing his twins - a boy and a girl.  He immediately calls you and first off asking how you are.  He tries to be comforting and all, but he can’t shake the feeling of guilt because he wasn’t there with you when the painful part happened.  Though, you do not miss the builty tone in your husband’s voice when he gives you encouraging words.

“It’s okay, sweetie.  We are well.  You don’t have to feel bad, just come home to us, alright?” you said.

Nicolas then nods. He comes home to you in no time.  He doesn’t hesitate to give you the sweetest kiss and muttered apology as he finally comes home to you.  Though, there is really nothing to apologize for.  Such circumstances cannot be avoided.  You’re happy that he is back home to finally see your children.

“You did so well, baby,” he said as he carried both of his children in his arms.

TOSHIRO HEIWAJIMA

I just have the feeling that this man will boast that he will soon be a father.  The moment he gets a call from you, you couldn't believe that he was all hyped up.  You thought that he'll be all frantic or maybe convincing you to let him pack his bag and come home to you.  However, no, that's not what he does.  It's not that he doesn't want to be there with you, he just knows that it is possible for you to go to an early labor and he is not there.  Therefore, he makes a perfect plan.

He makes a personalized jersey shirt that has the usual design and number, but it also has the bold printed words of "Baby, you can do it!" and "I'm here for you,".  He gives you encouraging words and has you turn on the live channel where you can see him play before he is off to the game and he sets off to the court wearing the customized jersey shirt.

He then plays the game.  He does his best.  Je would always turn to the camera mouthing "You can do it, baby!" to you.  It's an odd way to do it, but you knew he did all the effort for you.  Therefore, you do your best in giving birth to a baby boy.  You make sure not to forget to thank him for doing all those works.

"No, baby.  Thank you for going through this hard part.  I promise that I will not be here for you every step of the way," he said before giving you the sweetest meaningful kiss.

HIRUGAMI FUKURO

I believe he’ll be similar to Ushi where he’ll make sure that he is there for you.  When he hears that you are going through labor, he then makes sure he gets to call with you through video call.  He doesn’t want you to feel like you are alone.  Yes, he knows that his younger brother is there with you, but he promised to be with you when the time comes. Therefore, he makes sure he is talking to you even if it is through the screen.  Throughout the time, he is there giving you encouraging words. Though, there are times when he has to look away for a moment to try not show his teary eyes.  Whenever he talks, he tries not to crack his voice from all the tears he is trying not to show.

He sure wants to be with you and holding your hand and giving you ice chips. He wants to be there to try everything to make sure that he can do everything to lessen the pain.  However, he makes sure not to show the tears or the sadness at all.  He’ll stay strong for you in this difficult time.  The labor took about the whole night before he finally got the news that his baby girl had been born.  At that, he makes sure to get home to you as soon as possible.  When he does get home to you and his daughter, that is the only time he lets out the tears. The tears of joy.

TATSURO SOKOLOV

He’ll be all panicky the moment he gets a knews that you are undergoing labor.  He is in the locker room when his mother calls him to tell him that his wife is in labor.  He may or may have not dropped his phone and caused his team to look at him.  He tries to sit down on a bench and tries to calm down.  He’s not exactly sure what to do.  His legs are shaking and her mind is all over the place.  Nicolas noticed him all jittery.  It was only when Nicolas asked him what’s wrong that he finally became a blubbering mess. With the help of the team, he then calms down and thinks of it one by one.  First, he calls his mother back to talk to you.  He gives encouraging words and says that he will come back home as soon as possible.  He then asks his mom to give him a call for any update.  Though, the fact that he gets a call a few minutes before the game starts is not anything good at all.  Even up to the court, he is all nervous and anxious at the same time. The team notices this to the point that Ushijima comes to the rescue.

“Have your wife turn on the channel to this game,” Ushi simply said. “You cheer her on throughout the game.  That will make sure she’ll get through it as well,” he added before he goes back to the court.

The idea then clicks.  He gives a quick call to his mother asking him to turn on the live channel for the game.  All the nervousness and anxiety are changed into determination.  Throughout the game, he’ll be looking at the camera and just like Toshiro, he’ll be mouthing encouraging words at you and possibly blowing you a kiss.  Though, the moment the game is finished, he rushes back home to you and gives you the tightest hug.

“I’m so sorry,” he repeats as he peppers kisses all over your face. “You did great, baby,” he muttered before giving you a kiss on the lips.

“It’s alright. Come on. Let’s go see our baby girl,” you reassure him. The moment he saw his daughter, he knew then he would never leave his family alone through any milestones that are there to come. He will make sure to come home to the two of you no matter what.

HOSHIUMI KORAI

I imagine this man to act all tough throughout.  When he gets the news that you are in labor, he is protective-mode.  He is like a coach encouraging a team.

“Okay. Baby, calm down.  We’ll get through this. Remember what we practiced? Breathe. Breathe through the pain. I’ll make sure mom gives you as much ice chips,” he said.

There is no hint of anxiety at all even when he was in the game. Though, his face is all serious throughout the game. He is mind-focused on the game and always getting every point the team needs.  He is full of determination to finish the game. At that, the game finishes.  He’s not talking at all. He only fixes his things, tell the captain and coach that he needs to leave.  He is quiet all through the flight. Though, when he gets to the hospital and sees you carrying his daughter, that is where the look-serious facade fades away. He bursts into tears as he sees you and the baby all well.  He tries to stop it, but the tears sure just came flooding down.

“I’m home,” he said as he gave you a kiss and his cute baby daughter.

In a world where soulmates exist, it's uncommon for most people to find theirs. A lot of them going their whole lives never experiencing the world in color because they've never met their soulmate. But that all changes for y/n when she becomes MSBY Jackals player, Miya Atsumu's assistant. They're about to experience the world in color together. But what does that mean for y/n when both her and Atsumu are in committed relationships?

Earlier you received a text from Semi asking if you wanted to sit with him during the game, which of course you did. He promised to save you a seat, so now you were trying to find him in the crowd of people.

You spot him, surrounded by what you assume to be some of his fangirls. He immediately notices you and motions for you to make your way over, excusing himself from the fangirls. "Semi!" He pulls you into a hug and you can't help but laugh. "How have you been kitten?" Pulling away you get a good look at him. "I'm good! And I really like your outfit Sem, the colors go well together."

"You can see colors y/n?" He questions. Shrugging, you turn to look down at the court with both teams warming up. "That's one of the things I want to discuss with you and Ushi tonight. So let's save it for then. 'Kay?" Not saying a word, the male just nods.

You get the feeling that you're being watched, so you look around for the culprit and your eyes land on none other than Atsumu. He gives you a small smile which you reciprocate. Trying your best to ignore the butterflies in your stomach you turn your attention to Semi. "So what have you been up to?" You spend the rest of the time before the game distracting yourself from the feeling in your stomach by talking with the gray haired male beside you.

You sit in the stands with Semi, waiting for people to clear out and just killing time before you meet up with Ushijima. Your phone vibrates and you see a text from the male, telling you that he's done and waiting for you and Semi by the back exit.

"Come on Sem!" Grabbing his hand you lead him to the back exit. Passing by the restrooms you notice a group blocking your way. You can't help but let out a sigh. "What are you guys doing by the restrooms? And why are you all crowding Sho?"

Atsumu is the first to speak up. "They're ganging up on my wing spiker!" The look of confusion on your face prompts Sakusa to speak up. "Don't listen to Atsumu, they're just saying hi." Finally noticing you, Hoshiumi practically tackles you into a hug. "It's been so long since I've seen you in person y/n." He says while burying his face in your hair.

"Sorry Kou. I've been so busy." You say while reaching up to pat his head. Semi clears his throat beside you, reminding you of what you were supposed to be doing. "Oh yeah! Good game tonight guys! And it was nice seeing you Kou, but I have to get going. Text me?" And with that you excuse yourself and finally head to the exit.

You notice a figure leaning against the wall and you can't help but smile. You could recognize him anywhere, what with how he towers over everyone and just by the way he's built, definitely bigger than the others. "Y/n." He's the first to speak up. "Toshi." You say with a smile before pulling him into a hug. "We got distracted, that little shrimp was having his usual run in with everyone by the restrooms again."

"So what was it that you wanted to talk to us about y/n?" Semi questions as he shoves a spoonful of the curry into his mouth. "I feel like you're the only ones I can talk to about this. I can't go to Suna or my friends, I want an unbiased opinion because I really don't know what to do anymore." You notice that both men have stopped eating to give you your full attention.

Ushijima is the first to speak up. "What do you mean y/n?" Letting out a shaky breath, you decide to start from the beginning. "So I've met my soulmate. I can see colors now." You pause waiting for a reaction. "Holy shit! Really? What's it like? Wait. No. Who's your soulmate? What does Suna think about this? Are you going to leave Suna?" Semi fires out every thought that pops into his head, not bothering to filter any of it.

You bury your face in your hands. "I don't know what to do. My soulmate is Atsumu. And as of right now I have no intentions of breaking up with Rin but...I feel like the more time I spend with Atsumu the more I can picture myself with him." You feel someone rubbing soothing circles into your back, it's only then do you realize that you're crying. "It's okay. You don't have to make a decision right now sweetheart." Looking up you see Ushijima, his olive eyes staring back at you. There was something about his eyes, even before you could see color that almost always immediately comforted you.

"I'm scared. I'm scared that I'm going to hurt Rin. Or that I'm going to hurt Atsumu. I don't know if he remembers but one night he got drunk and told me that he's falling in love with me." It's Semi's turn to comfort you, thumbs swiping at the tears. "Kitten, it's normal to feel what you're feeling. You always put others before yourself, it's okay to be selfish sometimes, you know?"

Was it really okay to be selfish for once? "Well how do you feel about Atsumu? Just because you're soulmates doesn't mean you'll work out. You have to put in the effort like any other relationship." The olive haired male says. People always had the perception of Ushijima being a dumb jock but that was far from it. He just didn't like to talk if he didn't need to.

How do you feel about Atsumu? You've been so focused on his drunken confession that you never really got to focus on your feelings for him. "Sometimes he'll do something or say something meant just for me and I'll get butterflies. I enjoy the time we spend together. When he's hurting, I can't help but feel the same way. I don't think of being his assistant as a job because I like being able to be there for him. But I can't help but think what if I'm just thinking I feel this way because we're soulmates? What if I'm subconsciously trying to make things work because we are soulmates and not because I actually love him?"

"Well how do you feel about Suna?" Semi questions. You let out a sigh. You know your feelings for Suna. "Where do I even start? I love him. I love him so much. And I'm not saying this because I feel guilty or anything. I get excited to see his good morning texts, I look forward to our phone calls, I miss him whenever we're apart, I'm constantly thinking about him. I can see a future with him. That's why I can't help but feel guilty whenever I have these thoughts about Atsumu. They're both amazing, but I don't know what I should do. I don't want to hurt either of them."

"I think it would be best to let both of them know. They have a right to know what your feelings are for the both of them, because they're both part of it too." Although he was a man of few words, whenever Ushijima did speak, it was always exactly what you needed to hear even if you didn't want to. "You don't have to go at this alone, Suna and Atsumu are also there for you." The gray haired male gives you a quick pinch on the cheek. "And if you ever need to talk about it...we're here." He motions between himself and Ushijima. "Did you ever think of being in a relationship with both of them? I mean it worked out for the three of us."

You can't help but chuckle before playfully shoving Semi. "I think I want to be in a monogamous relationship now. It was exhausting having two boyfriends." You tease. But it was an interesting thought, could you really be with both of them? "But really, if you feel like you don't have anyone to talk to about this, we're here y/n." Ushijima broke you out of your thoughts and hearing him comforting you and telling you that you can rely on the both of them, that brought on a fresh set of tears. What did you do to deserve such amazing people in your life?

"Stop being so boring, Kageyama!" Shouyou shoves his head against Kageyama's shoulder. The man doesn't even look away from the TV, where they're broadcasting a rerun of the Argentina vs. USA game. He's scowl of concentration is the same as it is since they were teenagers. It makes Shouyou want to tease him or maybe kiss him. Maybe both.

"Why do you want to go so badly?"

"Because! It's the first weekend our training schedules match up! And I know you go out sometimes with your team, Hoshiumi texts me candids of your stupid drunk face---"

"He what---"

"And I really, really, really wanna go on a vacation with you," Shouyou continues. He hooks his chin over Kageyama's shoulder and widens his eyes, the way he knows his boyfriend is weak to, even if he'll never admit it. "The hotel has an all-day buffet."

Kageyama twitches. "Are you going to stay in the hotel all day?"

"Of course not! There's hot springs, Yamayama, just say yes, you can go right back to training when we get back!"

On the screen, Oikawa makes a beautiful save. But Kageyama's eyes have stopped tracking the ball. Shouyou leans more of his weight on his boyfriend. He waits.

Then, "Fine."

"Yes!" Shouyou leaps up and makes to run for the laptop. He stops at the last second to plant a big wet kiss on Kageyama's cheek. "Love you!"

He dashes off to the familiar sound of Kageyama's fond grumbling.

Atsumu stated with his whole chest, evidently very proud of himself. "Bokuto is gonna be Ariana Grande, and we have a performance of Side To Side ready too!"

Standing there, looking at Atsumu with his crazy blond wig and oversized fake boobs and skin-tight dress, Sakusa realised that he was absolutely in love with that idiot.

8th of November, 2:13 pm

13-14. That was the score in the final set of the V-League finals. The MSBY Jackals needed just one more point to beat the Adlers. The ball was on their side, Hinata receiving it and sending it high in the air, perfect for Atsumu. Sakusa took note of Atsumu's stance. That idiot. He wants to do it now? Atsumu grinned at Sakusa. It seems Omi has figured me out already. With the perfect set, Atsumu set the ball to Sakusa, who took the opportunity and hit the ball with an insane cut shot. The whistle blew, and the match was over. "Omi-kun!! We won!!" Atsumu yelled, pulling Sakusa into a hug. He realised his mistake after Sakusa stiffened in his arms. Pulling away, Atsumu began saying, "Sorry Omi. I got too-" Before he could continue, Sakusa was hugging him tight. Atsumu relaxed and hugged him back.

Many interviews later, and the team was waiting in their bus. Sakusa was already in his seat at the back of the bus, his earphones playing Fools. His peace was disturbed by the appearance of a bee. Well, not an actual bee, but the human reincarnation of it. "Oi Omi-Omi. What are you listening to this time?" "...Fools." "Again? Don't you get tired of the song?" "Don't you get tired of being so loud all the time?" "Touché, Omi-kun. You're getting better at this." Atsumu chuckled. The loud voice of Bokuto from the front seat calling for Atsumu had him out of his seat in an instant, leaving Sakusa to go see what was happening in front. That idiot gets distracted so easily, Sakusa thought with a fond smile.

17th of December, 7:00 pm

Team Japan wanted to have a Christmas party. Well, it was really just Atsumu, Bokuto, Hinata and Hoshiumi who wanted to party. The team party was just an excuse to actually have it.

That explained why Sakusa was at Bokuto's house at 7 in the evening, standing by the food table and watching the four idiots go absolutely crazy while dancing. Especially Atsumu. He and Bokuto were giving an encore of their Side To Side performance, and despite all the ridiculous expressions and failed rap attempts, Sakusa could've sworn that Atsumu was the most beautiful person in the room.

"You're very obvious, you know?" Komori said from beside him When did he get here? "Komori's not wrong. You're staring at Atsumu with those lovey-dovey eyes, it's making me sick." Suna's voice came from the other side of him. Without missing a beat, Sakusa replied, "You're no better Suna. You're whipped for the other twin." "You're not wrong about that. But that's not the point. When are you gonna tell him?" "Never. He'll never know." Komori sighed, "You're impossible, you know that right?" "Of course I do." Sakusa replied easily. He locked eyes with Atsumu, who walked to him and grabbed his wrist, pulling him to the dance floor. Atsumu is holding my wrist, was the only thing that was running through his mind. Flo Rida might be playing on the speakers, but Troye Sivan was playing in his heart.

27th of December, 10:47 am

Sakusa sighed. Having energetic people in the team wasn't always fun, and this was a clear display of those times. At least I'll get to see Atsumu.

On the other side, a few houses away, Atsumu lay in his bed. NYE is gonna be so fun!! I can't wait to spend time with Omi-kun. Wait. Why did I think of him? Atsumu sat up, and in that moment, confusion, realisation and another strange feeling washed over him. He laid down again, and started thinking, something he normally didn't do outside of matches. He was used to going into things headstrong without considering the consequences. Suddenly, the realisation hit him like a truck. Atsumu picked up his phone and dialled the one person he could think of.

"Tsumu? Why the hell did you call? It's 2 bloody am"

"I'm in love with him."

"Wha- oh. So you finally realised it."

"Huh? What do you mean. finally?"

"Everytime you drop by the store, you're talking about Sakusa. It's always Omi this, and Omi that. And I'm your twin. It's easy for me to figure you out."

"Oh."

"Yeah, oh. Is this all you wanted to say? Because I could've told you this myself."

"Yeah, uh, that's all. Oh, uhm, Samu, I miss you."

The tired chuckle from the other end, followed by a "Goodnight Tsumu, miss you" was enough for Atsumu, and then, at 2:15 am, he opened Spotify and searched for Fools.

31st of December, 11:45 pm

Pop music filled the house. Of course it was Pop. What else would it be with Bokuto controlling the music? Sakusa sighed. He was only there because a certain birdie told him Atsumu wanted to hang out with him. Speaking of Atsumu, Sakusa didn't see him anywhere.

Soon, people would start going to the terrace to watch the fireworks. Sakusa had no interest in that so he went to the first balcony he could find. Thankfully, there was no one there. Putting his earphones in, he pressed play on Fools and waited for the man he loved to come.

Atsumu, on the other hand, was late. Well, kind of. He reached at 11:50. I have ten minutes. Not bad. At least I didn't miss it this time. He went to the terrace, since that's where he thought everyone was. He was still listening to music when Suna came up to him and took one of his earphones. "Since when did you start listening to Troye Sivan?" "Oh this? Omi-kun is always listening to it so I decided to see how it is." "Sakusa, huh?" Suna said, with a knowing grin on his face. "What's that look for?" "Nothing. I just happen to know that a certain black haired man you're in love with is waiting downstairs for someone." Finally, the dots connected. It was almost cute, in Suna's opinion, the way Atsumu realised that Sakusa loved him back. "I've gotta go." "Go get your man, Atsumu." Nodding at Suna, Atsumu ran down the stairs, searching every balcony till he found Sakusa.

"Omi." He breathed out. Sakusa turned and looked at him, "Atsumu. You're here." Taking slow steps till he was next to Sakusa, looking over the beach, Atsumu replied, "I was always gonna come, Omi."

They stood in silence till the countdown started. "Ten! Nine!" Atsumu turned to Sakusa. "Omi..." "Atsumu?" Sakusa faced him. They were now very close to each other. "Eight! Seven!" Atsumu pulled Sakusa in by the collar of his jacket. "Omi, I have so much to say." "When do you not?" Sakusa laughed. As the clock turned 00:00, Atsumu placed his lips on Sakusa's, kissing him like there was no tomorrow. Sakusa's arms wrapped around him, pulling Atsumu as close as their bodies allowed. The need to breathe made them pull apart. Atsumu looked at Sakusa, at the man who he loved, and who he knew loved him back, and said,

"If only fools fall for you, then I'm the biggest fool of them all."

Can we just appreciate how attentive Kageyama actually is? How he notices all the things that leads up to Hinata's condition?

And how he knows EXACTLY WHAT HINATA NEEDED TO HEAR. NO PATRONIZING, JUST PLAIN, HARD TRUTH.

To some of you, it may come off like Kageyama is being a massive jerk talking about winning when Hinata is incapacitated, but let me tell you how that statement is more than what meets the eye.

He's saying 'I win this time, too' THIS TIME. This specific moment. That means there's going to be a next time, that this is not Hinata's end, that next time, it could be Hinata's win, or Kageyama's win again, who knows. The point is, Kageyama is still acknowledging him as a worthy rival, that Hinata is welcome to challenge him again. He's not being smug or arrogant about it. Look at his face. That's conviction and promise written in his eyes.

And THAT was the encouragement Hinata needs. THAT was what prompted him to literally wipe his tears and face yet another barrier in his journey, and do the smartest thing he can do right now, accept what's happened and rest.

Hoshiumi's words of I'll be waiting for you speaks volumes. Here's another one strong player who acknowledges him, who looks forward to meeting him again, this match or in the future.

Hoshiumi is on the background saying this, but Kageyama is on the foreground, in a bigger panel, wearing the exact same expression, and that is proof enough that he's telling Hinata that too. He'll wait for him and he strongly believes he'll come back. Because he knows Hinata isn't someone who can be easily deterred by something like this. Because he trusts his greatest rival and his strongest ally. His partner.

And finally, Hinata's bow is of APOLOGY, but most of all, of THANKS. Both to Hoshiumi and Kageyama, but especially for the latter.

To Hoshiumi, he's apologizing for cutting their battle short when they're just getting started, and thanking him for the acknowledgement and for the match well-played thus far.

To Kageyama, he's apologizing for leaving when they're having so much fun and playing at their utmost best yet, but mostly, expressing his gratitude for everything—for giving him the opportunities he couldn't have by himself, for the motivation and drive to win bought by their rivalry, but most importantly, he's grateful for the partner he can trust and rely on.

And as painful as it is to admit, it's almost as if he’s taking a bow for probably his last match as a first year. Let me repeat that. As a FIRST YEAR. This isn't the end for him just yet. He's still growing, both literally and figuratively, and this is nothing but a small set-back. The little monster will be back and you better brace yourself because he'll return with his swords and spears and knives all sharpened to a deadly point.
