Who do you ship Ciri with?
Tumblr media
Oh boy. I'm afraid mine will be an unpopular opinion.
In canon there is only one person I would ever ship Ciri with romantically (and this is in regards to her being older btw), and that person is Cahir (yes, I'm a rare Cahiri fan.)
Maybe it has to do the fact I like how they are like opposites (and parallels) of each other? Or how Ciri hates him rightfully at first, but he ends up proving he is a good guy. Or...the fact there is so much potential between them (I mean, there has to be a reason as to why he had dreams about her just like Geralt! Destiny does weird things..) It could also be that I'm just a sucker for the Knight and Princess trope.
Either way, I'm in agreement that I only ship it if Ciri is older.

lira is immune to whatever charm geralt seems to cast on everyone he meets. he reminds her too much of talin to be anything more than a friend she roasts every chance she gets ---  but as far as witcher’s go she isn’t immune to eskel , because scarred men who are soft with animals are my weakness.

Round 3
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Propaganda Under Cut
Casca
She is part of a weird fucked up love triangle with two dudes. All three of them are honestly kind of terrible for each other but she gets shoved aside in favor of the two dudes in most fics and is not allowed to grow past the toxic relationships of her past. Also she’s a cis woman who dresses pretty masculinely (because she’s in a mercenary band) so she gets type casted as the mean lesbian friend, when she’s straight in canon
I've seen more than one Yaoi Shipper say that Casca should have died during this one big canon event as opposed to being assaulted by one of the people in the Yaoi Ship, which of course conveniently would remove her from the narrative and as an obstacle to said Yaoi Ship. Aside from that specifically, though, I think it's particularly cruel to imply that being killed is a better outcome than being a victim of SA, and is an example of the contempt fandom on the whole has for female characters who act traumatized - particularly when both male characters in the ship have similar trauma and its never implied they should have died rather than be assaulted.
She's an incredibly interesting character in her own right with really good dynamics and parallels to Griffith and Guts, and the way those three play off of each other is integral to the story, but most of what I've seen completely ignores her in favor of focusing on only Griffith and Guts
Yennefer
Constantly villainized because one way or another she gets in the way of a MLM ship (though at least one of them would probably be fine with a poly relationship). In the show version of her, her love interest bound her to him via magic, never told her until someone else brought it up despite it the bond causing them to meet over and over, her love interest didn’t understand why this upset her and brushed it off and still has never apologized for it because apparently it was the only way to save her life, she had better chemistry with Jaskier (the other half of the MLM ship) and had a semi-decent rivals to frenemies thing going on, the show took away her powers (which never happened in the books) to have her go on a pointless quest to get them back that worsened her relationship with her love interest because they had her try to kill her love interest’s adopted child (which now justifies why he doesn’t need to apologize of course), and all of that was after she’d already had an arc regarding sacrifice and how power wasn’t really what she wanted.
she's an incredibly powerful mage and drop dead gorgeous and deserved so much better!!! justice for yen
God forbid women do anything. She either gets hate or is ignored, really classic stuff. And she's Geralt's gf but you know, *gestures at geraskier*

So I've been thinking about Tissaia's death in The Witcher Netflix. I'm not going to dive into the fact she got herself fooled by Vilgefortz, that just a no go territory, because I refuse to believe TISSAIA of all the people would be so stupid, given the fact anyone with one brain cell could see Vilgefortz is no good.
BUT.
Her dead scene is so off. Yes yes, the guilt and the reason she unalived herself is basically the same as in the canon (which is surprising actually because when did the series gave a shit about canon?). The timing tho?
Tissaia hugs Yennefer as Triss knocks and informs them the vigil is starting (means everything is READY and Tissaia and Yen are the only two people missing). Yen goes while Tissaia says something about being there in a minute. Even if the journey from her office to the basement or vault or where the vigil took place would be across the whole Aretuza, it could be like 20 mins MAXIMUM between Yen leaving Tissaia and Yen running to find her dead.
In those 20 mins, Tissaia managed to write a whole ass letter, brush her hair, lit a pipe and smoke it, do her little "sometimes a flower is just a flower" spell and slit her wrists. In which fucking reality you manage to do all this in such a short time span?!
Second thing - when Yennefer feels the pain in her own wrists, it takes her like .3 seconds to realize what's happening, so she runs into Tissaia's office basically immediately. Again, even if it would be across the whole Aretuza, there's NO WAY IN FUCKING HELL she wouldn't be there in time to save her. She's a witch, she can portal herself to be there faster, and don't tell me you can't do that in Aretuza, because a) it's not Hogwarts and b) even if you really couldn't make a portal in Aretuza, it was in ruins, you could make 284 portals and dance between them. So, when Yen enters Tissaia's office, we see two big pools of blood, and again, no way in hell she would bleed such a big amount of blood in such a short time.
And okay, even if she would, THEY ARE WITCHES FOR FUCK'S SAKE! Yen could probably still save Tissaia! But they had to make her *just* weep and not actually do something to save her mother!
Now don't get me wrong, I'm actually glad Tissaia died (and I can't believe I'm saying this, but there was no plot for that character anymore, not to mention I ship Tissaia with Geralt and by Geralt I mean Henry and not Liam), but it could be done SO. MUCH. BETTER.
Thank you for coming to my TED Talk :D

Changes season 3 made from the books that I actually liked
Im not going to mention  radskier because that's a given and it has already been discussed and analyzed alot better than I could plus I already talked about them on my shipping post
I like the way the relationship between Emhyr and Cahir was done but iv seen way better analysis on it than I could do
the time for the leads to spend together, like I really loved the cottage scenes and belleteyn, it was the fluff we needed to wash out the constant unnecessary conflict of the past two season from our mouths
Valdo Marx being an actual character in the story  his interactions with Jaskier  and his scenes on the boat and at the ball were gold, this bastard is so annoying I love him
Yennefer being the initiator of the conclave makes it more heart wrenching, as she attempts to mend bridges with her kind only to see it backfire completely, will be interesting going forward knowing that she will be a main player in the lodge, will be interesting to see  a more intellectual, strategic and calculating side of her against other sorceresses as she uses their leverage to find Ciri and stop their enemy's
I liked the silent hill monster made of the missing girls, it was super unsettling and reminded me of playing the games with some of the things you encounter and the difficult choices you have to make
I liked the take on fake Ciri, i think was a good way of taking an aspect of the book and making it more dramatic. she’s still a fake ciri for the purpose of nilfgaard but she’s also a student who has been kidnapped and brainwashed into believing she is ciri, that added another layer of mystery and intensity of finding out for whom Rience works.
Even though I knew it was a red herring I liked the  Stregobor misdirection, it added an interesting mystery box element with Triss and Istredd  and Yen are Geralt attempting to figure out what was actually going on, having them figure it out right away or telling the audience by cutting to  Vilgefortz doing something evil  would have been boring, this way the people who arnt familiar with the books get a mystery and the people who are get dramatic irony
I liked this version of Ciri,  she is defiantly still a Witcher following in Geralt`s footsteps like what we saw on the boat but she also weighs the possibility of becoming a leader and following in Calanthe`s as well, I love book Ciri and her wild rage an aversion to  having anything to do with being royalty , but I also like that they are subverting the cliché of “ she is a princess that doesn't want to be a princess” that has become increasingly tiresome in media imo  I find it to be a compelling part of  her character going forward
Next post, im going to talk about the changes and things that I didn't like about this season

♡ My thoughts on Yennskier + headcanons ♡
(Edited post)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
- What makes this whole thing so funny and exciting to me is that Yennefer used to think that Jaskier was just some annoying sing songy twit before. While Jaskier's dramatic arse used to consider Yennefer an enemy until she saved him from Rience XD XD XD
Tumblr media Tumblr media
- I adored the everliving FUCK out of their scenes together in season 2! Their dynamic is so fucking good! AAAAAAAAAHHH!!!!
- Yennskier, the ship we didn't know we needed, but definitely deserved! Their chemistry is so fucking perfect and their dynamic works so well!
- Personally I think that this ship is actually, currently, THE healthiest and most wholesome one of all my Jaskier ships! At least as of season 2! (Even if Geraskier remains as my OTP)
- In Oxenfurt, when Jaskier and Yennefer got to know eachother better without Geralt's presence to distract them both, ever since they saw the real, raw and vulnerable sides of eachother and became friends, I couldn't help but notice how absolutely toothrottingly perfect they are together!
- Legit, and I kid you not! I can't picture Yennefer and Jaskier having anything other than that deep kind of connection where you know that you are loved, appreciated and adored, despite all your flaws. The kind of love where you know you're not alone, that this person is your family and will always have your back no matter what.
- Yennefer, despite being one of the most powerful sorceresses on the entire continent, treats Jaskier as an equal by the time Ciri gets possessed. (Bro, like even Geralt doesn't do that! Jaskier is his friend, sure, but I've never seen Geralt treating him as an equal.)
- Yennefer and Jaskier have a mutual respect for eachother, they trust eachother, they enjoy eachother's company. All of those things are A CRUCIAL part of having a solid foundation to build a honest, sturdy, long-lasting and happy relationship upon.
- From compatibility POV, they work together a lot better than Geralt and Yennefer did. With Jaskier, there are no djinn related consent issues, there wouldn't be any communication issues and he would probably be a positive influence on Yennefer's mental health.
- Whereas her relationship with Geralt was quite frankly chaotic, explosive, sometimes even toxic. It was built upon a shaky foundation of lust, djinn magic and exchanged favors. Like c'mon, their time together as an on-and-off couple mostly consisted of having kinky unicorn sex, trauma dumping, dealing with magical, gorey and insanely dangerous situations, then talking about said situations until they have a fight! Leaving eachother every time in the end because they can't seem to make it work long-term. They're incompatible because in canon, the only thing that finally made them stick together for good, was an orphaned girl in need of protection. It's not right, kind of like parents who are postponing their divorce until their daughter grows up :/
- Jaskier on the other hand, despite his magic-less ordinary humanity has a hilariously witty, optimistic, stupidly brave, highly empathetic, loyal and supportive personality. Yennefer would have an understanding partner who loves her, cherishes her, acceptc her for who she is without judgement nor pity. A partner who would make it his life's mission to help her see the good things this world has to offer, to make her happy because she deserves it!
- Damn it all, they both have been through enough, they both deserve a break. They actually GET eachother. I can already feel a drabble forming in my brain, set a week or so after the whole Voleth Mier shebang, Jaskier is struggling with PTSD and nightmares about Rience, Yennefer is struggling with guilt and shame because she put Ciri in danger. So while Geralt is too busy with Ciri's training to be there for Jaskier and he feels too betrayed to be in Yennefer's company, neither Yen nor Jask have anyone to turn to in Kaer Morhen, except eachother. Three months confined to a witcher keep together? Now that is a LOT of time to spend with someone you can be openly vulnerable around, bond with, heal and share joy with, unexpectedly falling in love....
- Yennefer too is an extremely good match for Jaskier, it's almost uncanny how much she completes him! Jaskier would finally have an understanding and loving partner who truly saw him when others didn't bother. And Yennefer liked what she saw, the familiar face of a simple human bard who offered kindness and compassion to strangers even if it could kill him. She saw courage, honesty, forgiveness and so much good, a collection of rare qualities she had never thought could exist within one single person all at once. After Voleth Mier, all that goodness was given to her so freely, it is still being given to her everyday, so she knows a treasure when it looks her right in the eyes with such easy warmth. She would make it her life's mission to cling onto him with everything she's got, to love and cherish him the way he deserves, to protect the only person she deems worthy of holding her heart!
- They have a lot in common too. From both having a knack for fashion, both being mischievous little shits at heart and both having high standards when it comes to personal hygiene. To also having similar tastes in both alcohol, humor, luxury and entertainment.....if Yennefer's kinky orgy party and Jaskier's reputation as the biggest slut on the continent is anything to go by.
- Speaking of sex, both of them having a high libido and exceptional skills in bed aside, they're fucking GORGEOUS people! Why wouldn't they find eachother attractive?
- Yennefer is basically a Goddess, beauty personified! She is elegant and breathtaking, everyone knows it.
Tumblr media
- However, since a majority of the Witcher fandom usually dismisses Jaskier in favor of simping for Geralt, I can, I must and I WILL gush about how pretty Jaskier is! Cuz clearly some of them bitches be blind, Yennefer is one lucky witch!
Tumblr media
- Jaskier is like only 1,5 inches shorter than his grouchy snowman friend. Meaning he is tall as all hell and he definitely isn't lacking in the muscle department either, that bard is jacked yo. His voice is soothing and his vocabulary is extensive enough to make the most experienced of whores blush from pillow talk. He has VERY soft looking hair and he has one of the most angelic fucking faces I've ever seen. His eyes are the clearest shade of blue and his expressions + mannerisms are absolutely adorable! Ok, I'm done gushing, onto the next point....
- Unlike Jaskier, I don't think I have a dummy thick enough of a vocabulary to express how much dopamine Yennskier fanfics give me, more specifically when their husband and wife act from Oxenfurt becomes an inside joke for them, leaving the rest of Kaer Morhen's inhabitants confused as fuck.
- Geralt getting a bit jealous? His brothers wondering when that could have happened? Ciri feeling bamboozled as well?
- It's all shits and giggles until somebody giggles and shits. It won't take long until their inside joke is no longer a joke. They already bicker like a married couple anyway XD
- I can not help but also headcanon Jaskier as not fully human. It would be sad if he up and died on his dear immortal wife. I don't necessarily picture him having chaos or other powers in this scenario, but when I do, I think that they would discover them together on accident.

"This man's type is strong, tough, and rugged. Half feral men he can look at and imagine his 13 year old self seeking shelter with." – This is Ciri's type too, why not?
Because Ciri is the rugged, half feral demon others seek shelter with.
When shipping Ciri, I never imagine her as the needy partner.
And now that I think about it, that actually works with the way I see Emhyr vs Ciri as well, and their respective ways of coping with their circumstances.
Both were cast out of their homelands and treated like animals. However, Ciri eventually found herself surrounded by people who loved and cherished her as a person. Her family made it clear to her that she was wanted, and that they would do anything in their power to make her happy and safe, for no reason other than the fact that they love her. She does not need to seek that reassurance elsewhere in her life. The love Geralt and Yen gave her was enough to free her from having to spend the rest of her life specifically looking for that in a lover.
Emhyr never got that, and so he spends the rest of his life looking for a partner who will cherish him, and protect him, and try to make him happy for no other reason than because they love him.

Unpopular ship and opinion: After books end, when Ciri took Yen and Geralt away, both Triss and Dandelion ended up alive and they both lost someone close. Triss lost her best friend and her unhappy crush, she also believed that she lost Ciri too. Dandelion lost his best friend. I really want to write fanfiction about them traumabonding, even if I still preffer DandelionxPriscilla and TrissxEskel xD

Okay, while I most definitely find every way the Witcher series portrays characters falling in love nonesensical (see Yeralt and Radskier), I actually love both of these ships a lot? 🤷‍♀️ Brain confused but I guess I love it.
So now I'm thinking about Radskier lots...
First and foremost, he's KING Radovid now. Slipped my mind. He's currently trapped in a horrible position in which, honestly, he's not safe or his life is threatened at any moment.
He lost his brother, and while, yes, his brother was the worst, I think he still loved him. And while he didn't care all that much for his brother's wife, seeing her beheaded (and knowing its from machinations within the castle) is brutal.
I get the impression that Radovid isn't comfortable with death and violence. He's a bit of a coward, that would probably learn to overcome his fears for Jaskier.
Jaskier is the first person Radovid has ever loved. The first person who's seen through Radovid's mask of drunk useless younger brother, who makes a fool out of himself, who will never be taken seriously despite his older brother's constant attempts to give him something of value to do.
Radovid has always been capable but he lacked the interest, except for Jaskier and his music. Something in Jaskier's music drew Radovid to him. (But from the druids crying - we can see that Jaskier's music brings that out in people)
Presuming Radovid hasn't ever seen Jaskier in person until they met this season, Radovid found Jaskier's lyrics to be the astounding part of him. Jaskier who talks so honestly about love and aching. About Geralt's adventures, in a way where everyone marvels and wants to see them or be there or can easily imagine them. Jaskier sings of heroes, and lovers. Honest men and women, while also being silly in some songs. Studying Jaskier's music, he can study Jaskier.
Jaskier, being able to see threw Geralt's mask, Yennefer's mask (once he didn't see her as a love rival anymore), through Ciri's troubles, and the hearts of people long dead. He can see through Radovid too, and whatever he sees in Radovid is something so strong, it combats his love for Geralt. What does he see in Radovid?
Radovid becomes King Radovid the Stern, a far cry from what we see of him in Season 3. How far does Radovid change? Will we see him become more vengeful and hateful to mages like he does in the games? He would have ample reason too, of course, his two confidants being who they are. Jaskier being the figure of peace he is to people, and how he sees life as well, how will they meet each other next time?
Radovid hearing news of Jaskier and Geralt's adventures and using his resources to help Jaskier specifically. Because Geralt, Yen, and Ciri are Jaskier's family so they get special treatment. So that Jaskier's enemies are Radovid's own.
Radovid under the thumb of Dijkstra and Phillipa, but hopefully not for long. Radovid is intelligent, but a coward, maybe we will get to see him overcome his fears in Season 4.
Anyway, I'm obsessed with them now. ❤️

WIP Wednesday
If you've seen any of my posts lately or even know me from Twitter, you know Jaskier/Radovid aka Radskier (still think we need another ship name) has stolen my heart.
So naturally my brain was like... Hey how about pain? Like a lot...
And here I am today presenting to you a horrible thought and a few lines from the fic I'm writing on...
What if Geralt has to kill Radovid?
And that's the moment Geralt knows. He has to kill Radovid.
And break Jaskier's heart; again.
Only this time the damage he'll do might be too big, too unforgivable for Jaskier to ever come back from it. But Geralt knows Jaskier, knows his heart and knows that the bard has so much love to give, he will find his footing again. Even if it means that Geralt has to say goodbye to him so he can find some happiness after this again; even if it means a goodbye for good this time. He doesn't want to do it. Gods if there was anything else he could do, he'd do it in a heartbeat. But if he doesn't kill Radovid the continent will be plunged into war and Ciri will be in more danger than Geralt and Yennefer can protect her from. And he can't let that happen. So that night Geralt stays with Ciri and tells Jaskier to go out, sing or attend a party, fully knowing he'll seek out Radovid and spend the night with him. Granting them a bit more time together. Yen knows what he's doing and what he will do in the morning. "You have to tell him, Geralt," she says in a soft voice that yet doesn't allow any opposition. "No," Geralt rumbles and gets up from the table. "Geralt," Yennefer insists. "No!" Geralt almost shouts when he whirls around in one swift and strong move. "I can't Yen. I've hurt him enough already. And he deserves this night with him. He… Jaskier, he…" his voice breaks off. Carefully Yennefer takes a step closer and places her warm hand over Geralt's, which is gripping the table so hard it's starting to splinter. "He deserves to know, Geralt. He deserves to say goodbye."
Tagging some ppl. I know some of you are only used to 911 and if you're not interested that's totally fine and feel free to tell me not to tag you anymore in non 911 related things

SNIPPET - GOD from the PAST
Fear-filled dreams haunted her this night, as they did almost every night. Not that Ciri wasn't used to it. Most of them had their origins in her childhood: the ominous black rider who always turned into the Wild Hunt or dreams of her grandmother Calanthe's death and, again and again, the sea. Wild tides that broke the ship on which Ciri sailed through her dream and dragged her down into the depths. In the current dream, she let all this happen, listening to her heartbeat and watching the ever-shrinking bright surface of the water as she sank down into the depths. Yen had taught her that. Conscious dreaming, influencing dreams and from Geralt she learned to face her fears. Not to forget them, but to see fear as a useful companion that showed her danger and gave her access to her instincts. When she was afraid of the dark, she and Geralt spent a night in the forest training sword skills in complete darkness. When she was afraid of the water, he taught her how to swim and dive and, of course, how to defend herself against drowers in the water. Yen and Geralt's training prepared her for the confrontation with her fear. And so she floated in her dream and watched calmly as she drowned. Admittedly, there was something peaceful about it. Once she had accepted these superficial layers of fear, she knew where it came from. She dreamed of her mother's death, falling off the ship, drowning in the storm, in the darkness, in the sea off Skellige. When her panic used to take over when she was alone, she saw the apparition again. The image of white-green light, the magical manifestation of her elder blood, then pulled Ciri out of the water. But this time Ciri was very calm and watched the anxious thoughts pass her by. The figure would not appear like this. Ciri realized that she had never asked it for its name - if the magical being had a name at all, after all, it was nothing really physical. It was simply the embodiment of the Elder Blood itself.
Ciri smiled and watched the moonlit surface of the water, which was getting smaller and smaller.
'Enough of this dream. I can imagine better things.'
Ciri closed her eyes and when she opened them again, she was standing on a snow-white plain. Dettlaff was standing in front of her. Heat rose to her face.
'This is definitely more beautiful.'
"Dettlaff? This isn't just my dream, is it?"
Dettlaff nodded.
"Do you remember the last time? The dream level where you fought the shadow monsters. Only this time it's Regis who's allowing the resonance."
Ciri smiled at him as she walked towards him.
"Right, it's the same feeling."
She stepped closer to him and saw his tired, almost sad look. His smile didn't mask the emotions underneath. As she scrutinized him, he turned his face away.
"Is everything all right with you?"
"Not really... But this place is peaceful, more peaceful than what I dreamed."
Ciri's hand moved almost automatically to his forearm.
"I can understand that very well. My dream was cruel too."
"But you were calm. I didn't sense any panic from you."
"Ahh that... training from Geralt and Yen. Conscious dreaming and a kind of witcher's meditation to pull yourself out of frequent nightmares. I don't know if I can teach you anything new. But if you want, I can show you some of the things I've learned from them?".
Dettlaff smiled, this time the underlying sadness was less prominent.
"I'd like that."
Ciri paused and briefly considered whether to ask the following.
"What were you dreaming?"
Dettlaff swallowed and looked at the gleaming white floor. The pain was written all over his face, a pain she knew. She took a step towards him, but didn't dare take his hand. She knew how she felt at times like this and how upset she had been by the odd well-meant but unsolicited touch in the past.
"I won't ask any more... Would you like me to keep you company?"
He nodded again and Ciri sat down in front of him, her legs crossed and her hands resting loosely in her lap. His breathing was erratic and his nails clawed into his thighs as he tried to bring what was apparently bubbling inside him back under control. Ciri tried to feel into the connection, Regis created unconsciously between them, to catch something of his emotions, what he felt at least from what Ciri knew of this resonance. But Regis' own emotions were far too present in the background. And so she waited patiently, her hands subtly and unobtrusively palm up as a gesture to him. And to her surprise, Dettlaff grasped her hand, trembling slightly.
"I deserve to have these dreams, since I killed these people."
Ciri squeezed his hand.
"Don't forget the woman who had put you in this position..."
"Irrelevant. I killed her."
She screwed up her face. Syanna's story had shaken her deeply when Geralt and Regis had told her about it in Toussaint.
"Which she absolutely deserved."
Dettlaff looked up at her in surprise.
"And yet I regret it."
She fell silent, painfully lost in memories of her time in the rat gang. Her raids through the countryside, where she took her anger out on others, with that alias name, Falka, and like Falka hundreds of years ago. Not burning the ground, but soaking in the blood of those who stepped within range of her blade. Her sword made no distinction between young and old. The blood of innocents was on her hands and no matter what her motives were then, those motives left a stale taste on her tongue now. Ciri saw how Dettlaff gently turned her hand upwards and, lost in thought, traced the lines on the inside of her hand, which suddenly triggered a crazy feeling in her.
This could have been a perfect moment. A moment in which time almost stood still, the moths barely noticeably flapping their wings or the dust in the air forming a glittering swirl. But instead, all the light on this dream plane disappeared. She could still feel her fingers on Dettlaff's cool skin as she tried to reach out and grabbed at nothing.
"Dettlaff!"
Her hands scanned the smooth floor where he should have been sitting and she cursed aloud. As panic began to rise within her, she took a deep breath and felt into the bond. The amount of foreign magic was overwhelming, compressing her chest and making it hard to breathe, but she sensed Dettlaff somewhere. Ciri remembered the magic lessons with Yen about reading minds. She adjusted her breathing, searched for a ley node and drew magic from it, but the tightness didn't vanish. She tried again... Nothing.
A familiar figure of light appeared beside her, illuminating the area.
"They're attacking us, you and Dettlaff... I'm afraid you'll have to rely on my magic, my dear Ciri."
Ciri screwed up her face at the thought of how exhausting this would be for her body and sighed heavily.
"I know..."
The light figure resembling her image looked at her and smiled.
"I will help you. It only takes an ounce of our magic to banish this dream mage... And just a little more to kill him. It's your choice."
Ciri puffed out a laugh.
"Not today, but I want it to hurt. Hurt a lot... Nobody attacks Dettlaff!".
Well this is it so far. That chapter will be betaed at first in german than translated. I am currently writing the following chapter. Hope you like my version of Dettlaff x Ciri shenanigans and the concept of Ciri's source magic. Feel free to comment and share your thoughts ❤️

Round 1

Propaganda Under Cut
Christine Canigula
This has enraged me for YEARS. She is constantly sidelined in the fandom in favor of the main m/m ship which itself its fine but the way people treat her drives me NUTS. When I actually was in the fandom, Consistently! her crush on the main character which is a CENTRAL fucking plot point is just explained away to make room for yaoi. If they even have that kind of decency. Like 99% of the fics just say "oh! she's a lesbian actually totally this was comphet im not a misogynist" or "she's Actually Aroace" and not ponder on the optics of sanitizing the CANON fucking attraction of a chubby easian girl. It's sososo transparent and another fucking example of she's actually the Mom friend! or other annoying racist and misogynistic tropes.
She likes play rehearsal. She's the love interest of the main character, Jeremy. Jeremy also has a best friend, Michael, whom he's usually shipped with. And since she's the canonical love interest and as such often gets in the way of their beloved ship. They are very creative in finding the ways to get rid of her to ship Michael with Jeremy, ranging from making her asexual(because ace people can't date apparently), completely kicking her out of the last two songs of the musical and putting Michael in her place, to vilifying her and claiming she was never interested in Jeremy in the first place, despite musical explicitly saying the opposite.
Love interest of the main character Jeremy Heere and therefore stands in the way of the fandom's most popular ship, boyf reinds. Being specifically a love interest we don't get. A whole lot of her but she's fun! She's a theatre kid. She is silly and goofy. Also has a one off line in one of the songs that mentions she has ADD. Idk what I'm supposed to say really and I'm always bad at talking about characters so.
And she's Geralt's gf but you know, *gestures at geraskier*

the geralt mommy issues thing and how it reflects in his sexuality does work (i should know, freud would have a field day with me too, and it's one of the things that makes me relate to geralt deeply) but there's a bit more context
like i'm all for color association, i put a lot of weight to visuals myself (smth smth artist), but
triss, the chestnut-haired sorceress triss, doesn't belong between coral and shani. triss is the one exception, the one among women in geralt's life with hair that burns who hurt him more than visenna herself. triss is geralt's rapist, and she will always be just that.
on the other hand, this absent mother thing does relate to yennefer. people who have experienced parental neglect often seek emotionally unavailable partners (again...hi), or even go as far as be willing to put up with pain and toxicity just to have company in a skewed idea of what love looks like (and just to clarify yen is a child abuse survivor, this isn't one-sided. she's hurting geralt and she's hurting herself, too). it's not just visenna's fault though, it's also the result of having grown up in isolation from the outside world with stern training and ultimately being put through torturous body modification by the only adults/mentor figures in one's life, but
yennefer works as the love of geralt's life despite not looking exactly like visenna apart from maybe the texture of her hair (there are however interesting parallels between them, re: magic and having a kid) because she is like the culmination of geralt's trauma, a personification of how it has shaped him and made him see the world. him and yen are very alike in certain ways. unfortunately that also means they're both stubborn mules who need lifelong therapy and whose romance is beyond doomed, and i will refrain from saying how much i dislike shipping it, but it does make sense.
cool string of connections though.

hey!
Giving it a go, no pressure at all!
Character ask for Yennefer
Sexuality Headcanon: tried all her options, landed on straight.
Gender Headcanon: cis
A ship I have with said character: I'm a hardcore canon Geralt/Yen stan. Characters that die together stay together and all that...
A BROTP I have with said character: Yen & Dandelion make for a great duo.
A NOTP I have with said character: Yen/Tissaia. Too much maternal care there for me to see their romantic potential.
A random headcanon: In any Ciri as a ruler scenario, Yen hovers around the court to instill a healthy dose of fear in everyone to offer counsel and support whenever needed
General Opinion over said character: The Most Mistreated by fandom by far. Both her and Geralt indulge in some shitty behaviours at the beginning of their journey, fuelled by their respective traumas. Yet we're quick to ignore his faults, and put the blame squarely on her. Between dodgy translation colouring fandom's perception of her attitude towards Ciri and her treatment in the game, she deserves so much better. Le sigh.
Thanks! <3
