i’ve seen a lot of videos of women in stem talking about the sexism they deal with on a daily basis recently and i find it highly entertaining honestly. because i go to a very very small state school in a very redneck state. and yeah i deal with sexism in my stem classes all the time. but my upper level physics classes are the bomb y’all. these boys have got this shit figured out since i showed up freshman year. 

like my two defining moments in my education for my physics minor are 

the semester that my very smart friend who’s double majoring in math would walk away from our lectures and ask me to explain what had happened as we walked back to the dorms. because he couldn’t follow the prof but understood the math and i could do both. 

and the time my electronics professor gave a tour of the physics department to a group of incoming freshmen and excitedly showed them the speaker i built on my own the day i was the only person that showed up at lab and apparently had all the seventeen year old girls in this group very excited because he told them i was the only girl in the physics department and also getting my degree in english 

my school has lots of issues and our computer science department is shit. but the physics department has it figured out y’all. the profs are awesome. the guys i have class with are great. and physics club is an absolute disaster but so entertaining. 

#our physics department is a fourth female #because there's four of us #i love my physics boys they're great #it cracks me up though because i showed up freshman year and they were just like #ope it's a girl no sexism here not at all we think you're cool thanks for joining us #the math department is sorta iffy on the sexism but they're generally good people just massive dorks #the computer department isn't great could use some help #they should talk to the physics department #i definitely spent two years telling a very nice computer tutor that i would let him know if i needed help #had him ask me if i needed help from a tutor for the class i was TAing as a freshman #but he helped me get my car out of an intersection when it broke down #and he once brought me an apple because he couldn't share his regular snacks with me like he could with his friend #so all is forgiven #he learned it just took him two years #also most of my english classes are in the science building because of construction #which means i'm the weird english major that stops to talk to the physics profs in the halls
