Vampire Story OCs
New and improved because the original got deleted! Here’s everyone, alphabetized, sorted, and so on! With a wee bit of info about them as well!
DRACULA’S COVEN
Eric Madden: A member of the coven who was turned in 1987. He’s confident and cocky, but it masks a rather depressed interior. He’s bisexual. He has the power to read movements, however subtle, to detect feelings as well as intentions and actions.
Dahlia Rosemont: One of Dracula’s adopted daughters from the 19th century. She was the child of slave owners who she frequently rebelled against, becoming something of an abolitionist before her parents caught her and traded her to a vampire. She was rescued and adopted by Dracula and his bride-to-be Victoria (my wife’s OC). Her power is incredible super speed.
Macheath Sharpe: A former highwayman from the 19th century who was turned by their jailor. They have the power to shape their body however they please; they choose to present as a lovely woman, but keep their David Bowie-esque British male voice. They work at the Rhyme or Reason Karaoke Bar.
Matthias Dracula: A vampire leader with a long and storied history, whose greatest dream was to have a school to teach young vampires. The former leader of the coven, killed in 1890 by Marianna Cross and her vampire killers. However, there is perhaps a way for him to return...
Nadia Shibani: Age 24 when she was turned. She hails from the Middle East. She was found living a miserable life as a bored, pampered wife to a man she didn’t love. Dracula and Victoria freed her from this slavery, and she ended up being turned by Victoria. She was apparently given away because her father didn’t believe her to be his child. She went into self-imposed exile after the death of Dracula due to feeling responsible for his death, as she had been the lover of his killer, Marianna Cross. Unbeknownst to her, her true father is Amon. She has the power to alter the gravity of any object, allowing her to fly or lift objects or make things even heavier, though she does have limits.
Primrose Beirne: Eric’s best friend from his time as a mortal, they met up at a gay bar in the 80s and became good friends. She enjoys gothic lolita fashion and smoking. She’s a bit snarky and mellow. She is a lesbian.
Rose Milliner: Hailing from the late 18th century, Rose as a mortal had epilepsy and psychic flashes that made her a pariah among her peers, and led to her being abused by stepfather and stepbrother. On her way to being put in an asylum, her stepbrother tried to help her flee, but the two were ambushed by a vampire. Rose was turned, and eventually ended up with Dracula. She has incredible psychic and telekinetic powers, but due to her mental instabilities she as a tendency to involuntarily read people’s minds, which makes her unpopular with others. She has anisocoria.
Sakura Himura: A former samurai who fought in the Satsuma rebellion. She’s loud, brash, and loves to drink and swear. She despises western culture and tries her best to uphold tradition, but she’s a little hypocritical. She’s blind and either uses her sister, a cane, or her radar sense power to navigate and fight.
Yuriko Himura: Sakura’s younger (yet taller) sister. She’s a lot sweeter and more nervous, hating confrontation. She loves western culture in stark contrast to her sister, and converted to Christianity in the 20th century. She has the power to channel healing energy through her hands and into objects.
MARIANNA’S COVEN/EVE’S COVEN (Book 2)
Amon: A very old, very powerful vampire. He serves as Marianna’s right-hand man. He is exceptionally myserious.
Eve: The black horned demon serpent who in an age long past created vampires. She preys on the weak and vulnerable, turning them into vampires so that she might use them later on to fill out the seven seats in the Order of the Black Orchard, her personal bodyguards. She is said to have cut out her heart long ago to escape the pain of heartbreak, and because of this the very beings she created are more easily able to find love. She uses special apples grown in her private orchard known as Black Eden to help create powerful vampires.
Jack Fairchild: Jack the Ripper himself. He has the power to travel through shadows. He is the most hated and feared member of the coven, and he has committed nearly every atrocity you can imagine, gleefully. He views himself as above laws and morality.
Jojo Faust: A young German man from WWI Germany who faked his own death and became an alcoholic following the death of the man he loved in WWI. He was tricked into being turned and was used as a prostitute by Marianna’s coven. He has no idea what his power is, and is kept in line with a special slave collar created by Rhiannon. He is bisexual.
Kristoph Hollenfeuer: A former Nazi who commanded a secret paranormal investigation branch known as Enigma. He has the power to generate tracking bombs from his hands.
Marianna Cross: The leader of the coven. Formerly Nadia’s lover, she gave in to the temptations of power that Eve and Amon offered her, and betrayed Dracula and his coven, leading to Dracula’s demise. Her weapons of choice are sharp-nailed silver gauntlets specially made so she can wear them. She still pines for Nadia, which has led to her neglecting her adopted daughter Gabby (my wife’s OC). She has the power to enter mirrors, which has led to her being called ‘Bloody Mary.’
Rhapsody Von Braun: Hailing from the early 60s, Rhapsody was an artist who had her career derailed by workplace sexism, which led to a car accident that permanently damaged her leg and led to her becoming a drug addict. She spends a lot of her time sleeping, and walks with a cane even as a vampire. She’s rather sweet and pleasant, though she is a bit scatterbrained. Her power is to make drawings she draws come to life.
LOOMER STREET GANG
Jason “Loveless” Leeds: The second oldest of the Leeds kids, he always tried to protect his siblings from their abusive dad. Went to jail for a year at age 20 because he took the blame for their father’s murder. Because it was self-defense, he was only given a year sentence. He’s a bit self-conscious about being seen as a stereotypical angry black man, and is actually a bit of a goofball. Prior to going to jail he was a theater kid, and starred in a lot of productions at his high school.
Lilith Crowley:  Venus’ twin sister, Lilith is the dark Goth punk to Venus’ girly girl with a tomboy streak. She has a scar over her right eye from when she suffered a sexual assault in high school that almost lead to her death, but by some unknown stroke of luck she was found, her hair white and scarred over her eye but otherwise unharmed. She nowadays works as a getaway driver in Loveless’ gang, and has incredible skill behind the wheel. Her favorite band is Styx, her favorite food is chips.
Rika Amano: A half-Japanese, half-white girl (she looks more Japanese). After her father disappeared in Egypt, her mother slowly went mad from grief, which her brother Ryo used to his full advantage, tricking Rika into believing a violent assault on her was her mother’s doing to kick her out of the family. Homeless, she eventually found a safe haven in a homeless shelter, where she met her friend David Paine and the shelter’s owner, Lucius White, who she spent much of the next decade helping. She’s very tough, resourceful, and good-natured. She has the power to rewind time a bit, a la Sands of Time, but she only can use this a limited number of times. She has a lot of pale scars on her left arm from self-harming after becoming homeless.
Valentine Leeds: A perpetually cheerful young man who is a skilled acrobatic and looks like Michael Jackson in the 80s. Age 21. The youngest of three siblings. Killed their dad when he was 14 years old (Sierra was 23; Loveless was 20.)
SILVERWINGS
Antoinette LeBlanc: A baker and vampire hunter from the south. She’s sweet as can be. Her three favorite things in the world are baking, sex, and vampires in that order. She’s skilled with a shotgun; her weapon of choice is Ol’ Faithful, a shotgun her father gave her.
Babette Bonheur: A younger member of the Silverwings, she is a sweet redheaded French girl. Her greatest joy in life is painting. She has psychic visions, and she can go into a trance and paint what she sees. She is unaware of Mari’s crush on her as well as the fact she herself is a lesbian. Age 20.
Enrico Luna -  Age 47. A dark skinned Italian man with hair that went prematurely white; he tends to keep it in a ponytail. A devoutly religious man, he grew up in the church, but formed his own set of beliefs when he began to see others in his church acting callous, cruel, and intolerant, believing they were not truly following the will of God. Venturing out on his own, he was recruited by his first wife, Lenore, into becoming a vampire hunter and paranormal investigator. The two were a wonderful team for six years, until Lenore was grievously wounded while fighting a werewolf, dying from her injuries. The stress prematurely whitened Luna's hair, but though this event hurt his heart, it did not lead him astray from what he viewed as the righteous path. He soon after joined the Silverwings and rose through their ranks as one of the most skilled members, and his judgment was almost always trusted, up to his recruitment of Amber Yang. He and Amber became as good a team as he was with his wife, and it is a rather open secret he harbors feelings for her, but he is content with leaving it as an unspoken attraction for now.
Gideon Golightly: A nervous, skinny freckled redhead who is nonetheless quite acrobatic. He tends to guard the door to the Silverwings lair.
Harlan Silver: Age 62. The Silver who is currently in charge of the Silverwing groups of vampire hunters. He has carved out quite a name for himself over the years, dealing with numerous dangerous supernatural occurrences quickly and effectively. Despite his age and his injuries, which include a missing eye and an injured leg, he is as formidable as ever. He is a loving father to his daughter Mara, and is perhaps the only person who really tolerates her snarkiness.
Mara Silver: Harlan’s daughter who was recently turned into a vampire by accident while her father was on a mission in Venezia. She’s an albino. She has no interest in the Silverwings and thinks they’re a bit goofy but she loves and respects her dad. She’s a bit brash and overbearing and sometimes jokes a bit too much, which she picked up from her mother. She’s unsure what her power is. She is rarely seen without her white hoodie with a pink heart and her heart-shaped sunglasses.
Mari Noven: The half-Korean, half-white daughter of Dr. David Noven and Dr. Ava Noven, two scientists working with the Silverwings. She is rather skilled at using ice magic. She has a thing for Babette, though Babette is completely unaware. Age 20.
Norman Grieves: Age 44. His parents were in the Silverwings, so he was in the know about vampires and the supernatural from a young age, often studying alongside his parents. He became a hunter at 21, but decided field action wasn’t his forte after meeting Behiti, instead deciding for an important desk job so he could raise a family. He became the library owner and so kept the Silverwing’s lair safe, as well as scoped out potential recruits. He is the adoptive father of Chastity’s children.
St. Jezebel: A fiery-haired saint who was said to have fought Eve in ancient times. Eve ensured that after she was canonized, she would fall into obscurity and be forgotten, though the Silverwings have done their best to keep her memory alive.
Talia Ishtar: An Egyptian scholar and martial artist. She’s a bit snooty and irritable but she has a good heart. Age 26.
OTHER IMPORTANT CHARACTERS
Amadeus Zephyri: A former member of the 19th century Order, he was set up as a sacrifice and so was given the chance to flee by Dracula, which he took. He was a genuinely good guy who seemed content to relax and not kill or be killed, and even fathered two children, Rika and Ryo Amano. He had the power to stop time for eight seconds max. Despite loving his eventual wife dearly, he always ached for Dahlia Rosemont, his first love, but never to the point it stopped him from loving Mrs. Amano.
Armstrong: The owner of the Rhyme or Reason Karaoke bar, and a skilled alchemist. He possesses a philosopher’s stone but refuses to use it, feeling metal into gold is cheating. He is incredibly buff with wavy red hair, looking like someone who could star in an 80s barbarian movie.
Flynn Dangerfield: The son of a vampire killer. He has a jagged scar across his face, from some incident or another. He is good at making sandwiches. He is the least evil vampire  killer.
Grigori Rasputin: The mad monk himself. He has the power to regenerate into a new body whenever his current one is compromised or destroyed.
Macavity: Jemima’s right-hand man and best friend. Despite being a muscular manservant, he is fond of poetry and Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals.
Minerva Bright:: Age 35. The daughter of Balthazar Bright, founder of the diner Brightside’s, and his wife Rosa, Minerva was a very cheerful child with a passion for cooking and a love of people. As soon as she was old enough to work, she joined her parents in the diner and took pride in making sure customers were happy and satisfied, and that those in need received help. However, things changed when she was 20; her father was gunned down in a robbery gone wrong, and a few months later her mother took her own life out of grief; as if that wasn’t bad enough, Minerva, who was pregnant, ended up miscarrying due to the stress of the trauma in her life, and her fiance left her as a result when he found out she likely wouldn’t be able to bear more children. Minerva, now alone, took over running Brightside’s, and while she carried on the work her parents started, she grew more miserable, eventually finding ways to suppress all her emotions so that she could keep helping people. At one point, Jemima entered her diner, and the two built up a friendship, which eventually culminated in Minerva working with her, believing that Jemima had similar goals. But over the years she became disillusioned and soon became disgusted by how far Jemima was willing to go and how low she was willing to stoop to leave the city. Leaving Brightside’s in the hand of a trusted friend, she went into hiding with a few other women and formed a group hellbent on taking down Jemima once and for all.
Morag Macduff: The best friend of Chastity (wife’s OC). She’s an assistant manager and works the glory holes at the Den of Sin. She’s in her early 40s.
Remy Delacroix: The owner of the Den of Sin. He’s a bit greasy, but he usually means well.
Rex Hart: Rose’s stepbrother. Pressured by his abusive father into abusing Rose as well, he eventually turned on his father and began protecting Rose after his father killed her only friend: a little puppy Rex had found for her. He did his best to try and save her, but was turned and separated from her for years, becoming an alcoholic and mercenary in the process. Rose found him and the two reconciled, but were again separated when he teamed up with Amon to keep her safe and reign in Jack Fairchild. He has the power to, upon his death, have his body explode with the force of the bomb, with him respawning nearby.
Rhiannon Rhydderch: A vampire from the mid 16th century. She’s a powerful blood mage, and uses her power to make enchanted jewelry. She’s a very sweet and charming woman, and has no idea her jewelry is used for nefarious purposes.  She has the power of flight, which manifests as shimmering butterfly wings.
Venus Crowley:  Age 27. A free-spirited, fun-loving girl who frequents the Den mostly so she can support her friend Chastity. She’s known for being a bit scatterbrained as well as for being hopeless when it comes to love, with one amusing anecdote being how she freaked out and begged her twin sister Lilith for help after she asked out five different girls on the same day due to how conflicted she was as to who she liked. She loves her motorcycle (which she named Lady) almost as much as she loves girls, but she’s still very much a girly girl. She does street races and all sorts of illegal stunt driving to get her money, though she also has a job doing stunt shows at the local amusement park, Fordlandia.
Vinny Tosto: Owner of the burger joint Vinny’s. Sometimes has Lilith deliver shipments in a quick and timely manner, oftentimes not totally legal ones.

TAROT THE WEEK!!!
Weekly Psychic Forecasts Every Monday Morning To Help Guide You Through Your Week!
Week Of July 30th – Aug 5th 2018
Card: Ace of Wands (R)
Tumblr media
Quick Analysis: When the Ace of Wands is in the reversed position it usually means something is holding us back from starting fresh, starting anew.  We have a goal in mind.  We see the starting line just ahead.  But for some reason we can’t seem to step up to the starting line.  Because of that our dreams, plans, goals and aspirations for ourselves keep getting pushed away.
And the most frustrating thing of all is the starting line has not moved at all.  It’s still right there where it’s always been.  It’s we who have moved away.  Through reasoning, some legitimate some not, we have slowly inched ourselves further and further away from what we want.
We’re busy.  I get it.  We must take care of our partners, our immediate families and sometimes our extended families.  We must get our kids to school and then to the million and one extracurricular activities they have before and after school.  Then we must make sure they’re doing their homework and try our best to help them with it and the various school projects they have going on.
Then we have to check in with our partners and make sure they’re still breathing.  If we’re wise, we take out quality time each week to spend just with them.  But then that requires planning and doing.  We have to make sure the passion for not just our families stays alive, but the passion between our partners and ourselves as well.
Our parents aren’t getting any younger.  And while they are perfectly capable of taking care of themselves, you see a day not too far away where they will be leaning on you more and more.  In fact, in small subtle ways that leaning in has already begun.
Then our friends, associates, colleagues, and communities all require our attention to a certain degree.
We swear we will make time for ourselves and our dreams.  We swear next week, next month, next year will be our time.  But next week, month and year never do come, do they?  We only have right now because right now is the only thing promised to us.  And even if there was a next week, month or year what are we doing now to carve out time for ourselves?  I’ve heard it said, “Luck is preparation meets opportunity.”  What are we doing to prepare ourselves for the opportunity at hand?  Like I said, the starting line has not moved one inch.  What are we doing to prepare ourselves right this minute for when we finally step up to that starting line?
It’s so important to not forget self amongst the million and one things we’re called to do in any given day.  We simply must take time for ourselves.  Even if it’s 20 minutes a day, we must force ourselves to put ourselves first for those precious 20 minutes.  Yes, for most of us that goes against our very nature to put ourselves first.  Even for 20 minutes.  But if we don’t, we’ll never be prepared once we finally make the choice to step up to the starting line.
In-Depth Analysis: Let’s talk about fear.  Specifically, the fear of success.  Yes, the fear of success is actually a real thing.  The fear of success can be a WAY harder concept for us to wrap our heads around because we’re always talking about the fear of failure.  But the fear of success affects people in as profound a way as any of our other fears, including failure.  So what is the fear of success?  Let’s get into it:
The straight forward answer to that question is when you are so afraid of success you’ll do anything not to attain it.  For most of us that seems incredibly counterintuitive.  Especially in the western world where it seems our whole identity is hinged upon how successful we are.  (And how young and beautiful we are, but that’s another story.)  In fact, how successful we are, at least in the Western world, is a rote topic of conversation.  Think about it.  The last time you were in a setting where you’re being introduced to brand new people, how often were you asked what you do for a living?  And once you said what you do, did it not lead to more easy conversation-like questioning about the specifics of what you do?  It happens all the time.
(Side note: In my weird little mind I think it would be HILARIOUS if the next time someone asks “What do you do for a living?” to answer “I live off the tax-paying dollars of other hardworking people.” Or “I am PHENOMENAL in bed.  So much so my boyfriend/girlfriend pays my way through life.  I get to stay home, look pretty and fuck like a champion!”  Or “I’m a panhandler.  You can find me selling fruit every day on the exit 121 off-ramp.  Stop by!  I’ll give you a deal on half-rotten tomatoes!”  That would be SO FUNNY!!!  Of course, I don’t have the balls to pull that off in public, but I bet you do!  Enough with the shenanigans!  Back to this week’s lesson.)
And we are constantly bombarded with images of successful people in all media.  Rarely do you see people in television or print ads that are unsuccessful.  Rarely do you see people who are down on their luck and can’t catch a break.  And if you do, by the end of the commercial, tv show or movie, they’ve found the “secret sauce” to success and are wildly successful.  It seems we as Westerners are all about finding that “secret sauce” to success and then ball out of control for the rest of our lives.  To fear success seems out of the ordinary to us.
Therefore, if that’s true, if the fear of success is so foreign to the minds of most westerners, is it really all that commonplace?  Well in my research for this blog I found it to be MUCH more commonplace than I could have imagined.  Just a quick Google search on "fear of success" and article after article and page after page of information about it is at our fingertips.  Clearly, it's a problem that a lot of people have to contend with.
So what are the warning signs you may be experiencing the fear of success?  Well a few include:
 You don’t complete your projects (this could be at work or at home).
 You talk about what you are going to do more than what you actually do.
 You work furiously on several projects at once, not really focusing deeply on any one of them.
 You still have exactly the same things on your vision board that were there five years ago.
 You procrastinate.
 You second-guess yourself often.
 Distraction is your middle name.
 You don’t think your work is ever quite good enough.
 You’re on the verge of ‘success’ and things start going really wrong.
Do any of these things apply to you?
In my research I found a man by the name of Professor Frank Manuel who studied the fear of success.  Professor Manuel suggested the term “Jonah complex” - named for the character Jonah from the Bible -  for people who have a fear of success.  If you don’t know the story of Jonah, you can find it in its entirety in the book of – wait for it! – Jonah.  At only 4 chapters long it’s one of the shorter books in the Bible.  If you’ve never read it, I encourage you to do so.  It’s a fascinating character study.  And if you have read it, reacquaint yourself with it.  It’s a really fascinating story.  Only a few Bible chapters long.  And it’s a good read.  So find it and read it and draw your own conclusions about it.
Anyway, Professor Manuel’s colleague Abraham Maslow came up with the etymology of the word.  In short he stated: “The Jonah complex is the fear of success which prevents self-actualization, or the realization of one's potential.  It is the fear of one's own greatness, the evasion of one's destiny, or the avoidance of exercising one's talents.  Just as the fear of achieving a personal worst can motivate personal growth, the fear of achieving a personal best can also hinder achievement,”
There is another layer to the fear of success. Many of us have been conditioned to believe that the road to success involves risks such as "getting one's hopes up" - which threatens to lead to disappointment. And many of us-especially if we've been subject to verbal abuse-have been told we were losers our whole lives, in one way or another. We have internalized that feedback and feel that we don't deserve success.
There are probably a lot of deeper layers underneath the two I mentioned.  I encourage us all to look deep inside ourselves.  And if the fear of success is holding us back I encourage us to find out the underlying reasons why.  Because only in doing the work to figure out the core reasons behind that fear of success will we be able to then do the work necessary to fix the problem and move forward.  The Ace of Wands is waiting for us.  That starting line is right there where it’s always been.  I will leave you with this famous quote from the incomparable Marianne Williamson:
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.  Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.  It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.  We ask ourselves, “Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?”  Actually, who are you not to be?  You are a child of God.  Your playing small does not serve the world.  There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.  We are all meant to shine, as children do.  We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.  It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone.  And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.  As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
Bottom Line: Fear is a powerful emotion.  It was given us as a tool for action.  The misuse of fear is to become paralyzed by it.  I’ve often heard it said courage is being scared shitless but doing it anyway.  It’s tough to unpack the reasons why we are afraid.  It’s a hard journey to peel back the layers within our psyche to get to the root of our problems.  I’m not gonna lie, it’s hard work.  But we are SO worth the trouble!  We are worth the time and energy, blood sweat and tears we must expend to shed those things within us that are no longer serving us.  Imagine a life without fear that holds us back from the good stuff!  Imagine valuing ourselves and what we have to offer this world enough to be bold, be strong, to be scared shitless but having the self-worth that we do it anyway.  If we can imagine ourselves being that type of person, we can do it.  There’s nothing our mind can imagine that we can’t make happen.  I encourage us to take the steps necessary to rid ourselves of the fears that are holding us back.  You can thank me later.
Have a FANTASTIC week, everybody!
Be Blessed.

Mob Psycho 100 x Paranatural
Okay my dudes, I figure I may as well put these ideas down in one post since I don’t have time to draw them (or any more at least). They all stemmed from a convo a month or two ago between me and @happikattwuzheere concerning how Reigen is the Anti-Spender.
@7bluecats and @cocoa-bee I think you two were asking about this general stuff.
-cracks knuckles-
Okay so. I have like. Several variations on the theme.
1. Total Crossover: The cast of paranatural meets the cast of MP100 (ignoring language barriers and geographical locations)
Or: The Fun AU where friendships and rivalries abound and there’s not much angst
Johnny immediately picks Mob out for a wimp and attempts to intimidate him...he is immediately stopped by (1) Ritsu, (2) Teru, (3) The Body Improvement Club
Dimple terrorizes PJ and attempts to arm wrestle Lefty
Suzy and Mezato meet. Even to those not physically present, there is an immediate chill as though some unholy partnership has been formed. (Alternatively they also compete for information because one girl is a master at bribery and blackmail, the other one literally started her own cult in her classmate’s image)
Reigen left hooks Spender for putting kids in the line of danger in order to satisfy his own ego (”You f*cked up some perfectly good children is what you did. Look at them. They’ve got anxiety!”)
Spender attempts to convince Mob (and the other Esper kids) to be his disciples. Shou laughs. Ritsu hates him more than he distrusts Reigen. Teru laughs and insults his choice of clothing. Mob is uncomfortable.
Salt Mid Student Council v Mayview Mid Student Council: an immovable object meets an unstoppable force
idk but Tome and Lisa look like they could be related all right?
The Esper kids in general get along with the Activity Club
Isaac and Ritsu have literally no patience for each other; Isaac and Teru have no patience for each other because Teru keeps insisting that he (and especially Mob) are probably stronger than Isaac
Isabel challenges them all to arm wrestles. To Shou’s horror, she wins them all.
Ed and Teru for some reason actually hit it off. Mostly because Teru is a movie buff like Ed and Ed is an invaluable source of creative ideas that Teru can actual implement in battle.
Shou (on Isaac): HAHA LOOK IT’S LIKE ME AND YOU FUSED TOGETHER TO MAKE ONE SUPER VOLATILE ANGST LORD
Max doesn’t really like Reigen, but he doesn’t immediately distrust him either because, despite being a con man, Reigen is by and large more honest than Spender
Max isn’t sure if he likes Mob, but he’s nice to him. He finds Teru obnoxious, but finds Ritsu tolerable in a way that Isaac isn’t. Mostly because Ritsu doesn’t demand things like loyalty and friendship right out. He gets along best with Shou, who is King at Wicked Stunts and Lighting Stuff on Fire.
Johnny is kind of terrified of Teru because Teru has expertise in dealing with delinquents and isn’t afraid to pull that card (even without the use of his psychic powers)
Hitball tourney between the two schools. Mob spends the entire time surrounded by the Body Improvement Club. People are reasonably intimidated. Despite that though the teams are pretty evenly matched.
BL makes the mistake of trying to connect into Mob’s mind. She disconnects that one REAL FAST.
Matsuo comes home with a new collection of mundane objects that are infused with spirits of all kinds
Mob accidentally pops the bubble surrounding Mayview and unleashes the apocalypse
2. Spender is Reigen
Spender is a legitimate psychic who runs the Spirits and Such Consultation.
He is a good bit less successful than Reigen because he is actually relatively bad with interpersonal relationships
Also his main goal is boosting his own ego, as opposed to Reigen who was kind of bored but mostly wanted to help people somehow
tbh I don’t think that Mob would have stuck around Spender like he did Reigen. Spender talks too much about himself, and as hard as he tries to be inspirational he lacks the sincerity and emotional depth that Reigen does to pull it off.
But assuming that Mob did stick around, I don’t think that Spender would be healthy to his maturity
Spender wouldn’t trust Mob to make decisions as a rational individual. He’d treat him like he was kind of dumb, just because Mob approaches thoughts very differently from most people. He’d maybe try to shelter him out of this weird protective instinct, but he wouldn’t really respect Mob as an intelligent individual (and he is, that smackdown with Touchirou shows that he not only thinksa bout stuff, he thinks deeply)
Spender would take Mob’s silence as approval. All the time.
Spender would however be able to teach Mob how to channel his powers to an extent but his teaching would always be hampered by his own inferiority complex regarding Mob’s natural ability.
In the end, Mob would have more technical mastery of his psychic skills (despite that not being what he REALLY wants out of life anyways), and also likely be a lot more doubtful of his own decisions and less likely to take risks
This story would end with the Mogami arc, wherein Spender would think himself the True Hero as he does, and attempt to take on Mogami himself.  He dies.
3. Reigen is Spender
The least developed of the AUs, in which Reigen is an American middle school teacher
He still doesn’t have powers, beyond being able to see the spirits. He can’t use spectral energy or use weapons.
Everybody thinks he can though
As in, BL thinks that he’s an incredibly powerful spectral because he keeps resisting her attempts to link with him mentally. In reality he doesn’t even know that that dream stuff exists, or is vaguely aware of it only.
He’s known for being a little bit scattered as a teacher, easily flustered and known to bullshit his way through stuff that he obviously doesn’t know
Despite that he’s well loved because at the end of the day, no matter how frustrated or tired he is, he legitimately gives the impression that he cares about his students.
He’s slightly better at handling Isaac than Spender is. For starters, he actually gives Isaac a degree of respect, answering him honestly where he can and giving him “I can’t tell you that right now, but I promise I’ll tell you when you’re no longer inhabited by a highly dangerous spirit monster okay?” where he can’t
Also he wouldn’t have fought Forge. I mean, he doesn’t have any powers anyways, and because holy shit that thing spits fire. If the kids were in danger he would have ditched so fast because the kids always come first.
Actually he probably would have called off the mission the minute that things started turning out more dangerous than projected
Zarei would probably still hate him though because he’s the type of guy who gets under her skin
Day is sneaky af and Reigen wouldn’t make the mistake of underestimating her like literally everybody else in the series right now
He’s legitimately worried about Max, who has clearly not moved on from mourning his mother. He’s a lot more attentive to this as a motivator in Max’s actions, and although he won’t ask about it directly he’s definitely checking for warning signs
He’s nearly gotten fired three times for physically threatening students (they deserved it but whatever)
Has been called a coward many, many times by almost every character in the series. Literally does not care because the people he cares about are still, by and large, alive
4. Max’s Mogami World
I don’t really remember the context of this one but it definitely started with discussing how differently Mogami’s world would have presented itself
There are a number of context clues implying that Max feels guilt over his mother’s death, so his isolation in the mind world is built around that
In this world, he still has a dad and a sister, but they both blame him for what happened to his mom. Not verbally, usually, but definitely in the coldness towards him and the way that look at him when they think he’s not looking
The move to Mayview isolates him completely, and he’s not brought into a circle of friends at his new school
Physical bullying doesn’t bother him nearly as much, because he knows how to fight back, but he takes to ditching school in an attempt to avoid his tormentors. This, in turn, causes a lot of the teachers to label him as a delinquent and start treating him more poorly
Minori (or the character equivalent in this world) finds out about Max’s mom somehow (via Suzy or somebody else snooping around), and uses that knowledge to emotionally bully Max into a corner
Max is the only one in the Paranatural cast that would have survived longer than a week in a Mogami world. Everybody else would have been too easy to pull apart.
Except maybe Ed. Mogami wouldn’t know what the heck to do with Ed. (Nobody does.)
I may have to add stuff later because I can’t remember what other stuff we talked about, but Katt and I did develop a fun new painful theory or two from this mess of stuff.

What novels or book series would you recommend?
oh fuckin boy dude so many. 90% of what i read is either gay or scifi/fantasy or both, and some are technically for a younger audience but still great, so thats what most of this is which hopefully you’re cool with here goes
this got super long so i’m putting it under a cut. bolded titles are the ones that i’m super recommending, though i love them all
novels
the coldest girl in coldtown by holly black - vampires! a trans character! a bi character! one of the most novel approaches to vampires in fiction that i’ve seen! 10/10 would recommend
the darkest part of the forest by holly black - again, holly black is one of my favorite authors. this one’s got faeries (the proper vaguely unsettling kind that i’m all about) magical music, girls embracing their sexuality, girls being knights, interesting sibling dynamics, and a super cute m/m pairing
les miserables by victor hugo - ok yeah, it’s like 1400 pages long and historical fiction, but i love les mis a lot ok. it’s gotta be on this list just because it owns my ass. it’s like a old drunk french man trying to tell you about the june rebellion but he keeps getting distracted by things like people’s personal lives, the intricacies of the parisian underworld, and how much he wants to fuck the sewers. it’s wonderful
the night circus by erin morgenstern - magical circus that mysteriously appears for days at a time and then vanishes? a competition between young magicians drawn out for years? a wide variety of fascinating side characters? (i will say that the synopsis available for the book is somewhat misleading, as it’s actually less about our two protags and more about the circus itself. but that’s what makes it so enchanting)
the song of achilles by madeleine miller - retelling of patroclus and achilles story to be explicitly romantic. will make you feel like you’re floating on clouds and then rapidly crush your soul. sort of a happy ending? but it’s still a tragedy. their ending is the same as it was in the illiad so if you’re not prepared for that then maybe don’t read
good omens by neil gaiman and terry pratchett - a demon who’s not very good at being a demon and an angel who just wants to collect his books in peace thank you very much try to sabotage the end of times. absolutely hilarious
fairy and folktales of the irish peasantry by w.b. yeats - the best collection of irish faerie stories by one of my favorite poets. if you like creepy and tricky faeries i would def recommend checking these out
rootabaga stories by carl sandburg - another collection of folktales, this time inspired by the american midwest. kinda weird, kinda zany, very neat
the poison eaters by holly black - a short story collection of faery stories that are sometimes creepy, sometimes touching, sometimes gay. my personal favorite is about a library science student who finds a book collection where the characters come out at night and interact, but they’re all really great
series:
alex rider adventures by anthony horowitz - teenager gets recruited by MI6 as a spy, has incredibly high success rate, gets pretty fucked up along the way but damn those one liners tho, maybe have some self preservation alex? just a thought
all for the game by nora sakavic - about a fake sport called exy that’s kind of like indoor lacrosse but more violent. contains: crime families, found families, an aspec protag, girls kicking ass, unhealthy levels of sass, wonderful slowburn m/m that you can’t even see coming for a long while, and a happy ending for everyone!! i came for the gays and ended up reading all three books in two days. also you can get the whole series for less than five bucks on kindle! (note: tw for rape, physical abuse, torture, ptsd, child abuse, drug use, alcoholism, some use of slurs, mentions of past self harm, mental illness)
artemis fowl by eoin colfer - more faeries, but this time they live underground and are way more technologically advanced than humans. the first book focuses on our anti-hero trying to catch one and steal their gold, and they quickly become allies and solve faerie related cases together!! one of my favorite series growing up, and i cried in the middle of the hallway at school when i finished the last book
camp half-blood series by rick riordan - does rick riordan write a lot of mythology books? yes. do i love them all? yes. neurodivergent kids! kids from a huge range of racial and ethnic backgrounds! queer kids! collect them all! ft. greco-roman mythology and a lot of stupid jokes
emelan series by tamora pierce - ok this is easily one of my favorite series of all time. non-western high fantasy setting (picture greece/turkey, china, tibet, mongolia, scandinavia, etc type settings), following four young mages who have unique kinds of magic as they train and grow their skills and become powerful in their own right. only one of the kids is definitely white (jury’s still out on sandry), one is a lesbian, one is ace, one is pan, all four are raised by a loving f/f couple, body diversity, one of the best found families i’ve ever read, feminism, discussion of racism, classism, cultural identity, war, and so much more. it’s so so good and so under-appreciated please read all of the emelan books
the dark is rising sequence by susan cooper - full disclosure i have not finished this series yet but i’ve re-read the first book a million times. it’s a neat take on arthurian mythology, with dark forces trying to take over and kids getting shit done
diviners by libba bray - psychic teenagers in 1920s new york! i’m a slut for prohibition, but these are also super fun and have likable and real characters, and doesn’t only focus on wealthy white people having parties which is nice. the occult! government conspiracies! historical references! genuinely scary situations! it’s rad!
the enchanted forest chronicles by patricia c. wrede - i adore this series so so much. it’s about a princess who’s father keeps telling her that she can’t have hobbies like fencing or cooking or conjugating latin verbs because they’re unladylike and insists that she marry this doofus prince that she couldn’t care less about. so she runs away and volunteers to work for a dragon and proceeds to send away all the princes that try to rescue her. it’s genuinely funny, has a really neat magic system in the later books, great female friendships, cats, dragons who have no time for your gender roles, and wizards who are the most ridiculous group of antagonists you will ever see
the infernal devices by cassandra clare - i really really do not like the author of this series but it also broke me so it must go on the list. if you’re familiar with the mortal instruments or shadowhunters on freeform, it’s set in that universe in the 1870s in london and it’s very steampunk and very angsty and it made me cry a lot
the kane chronicles by rick riordan - see: camp half-blood series but egyptian
fablehaven by brandon mull - oooooh fuck me up i love this series. this is another one meant for slightly younger readers but all of brandon mull’s series are so wildly imaginative and i’m a slut for world building so. the premise is basically that there are secret preserves all over the world that house magical creatures, and five of these preserves have vaults with artifacts that when brought together make a key to this massive demon prison. an evil society called the society of the evening star is trying to get the artifacts to open the prison, and a different group who is allied with the preserves called the knights of the dawn is trying to get to them first to prevent this from happening. there are dragons, light and dark powers, crazy convoluted vaults to get through, and some really cool creatures and characters
beyonders by brandon mull - this guy again! this one’s about a parallel world called lyrian that people on earth can only get to through small liminal windows, and usually can’t get back through. the story follows two kids, jason and rachel, who get stuck in lyrian and end up becoming major members of the resistance against the evil emperor maldor. just like fablehaven, the world building is insane and you’ll fall in love with all the characters. this is yet another series that made me cry in the middle of class when i finished it
the kingkiller chronicle by patrick rothfuss - this is series is long as all fuck and the last book isn’t out yet but it’s my #1 favorite series of all time. i found out about it bc a cashier at a local grocery store held up the line to write it down for me and i never went back. parts of it are achingly, hauntingly beautiful, other parts are hilarious enough to leave you in stitches, others make you want to pull your hair out. there’s sass, recklessness, beautiful and deadly girls, an overwhelming love and emphasis on the importance of music and storytelling, magic that’s more like science, ethnic adversity, student loans, a thing that might be a cow or might be a dragon depending on who you ask, and more quotable lines than you could dream of. the audiobook by nick podehl is also fabulous, and lin manuel miranda is producing and adapting it for the screen and maybe stage at some point in the future!
a modern faerie tale by holly black - guys. i love holly black. almost everything she’s ever written is on this list. this one is fairly self explanatory by the title, but it’s gritty and dark and has those lovely creepy faeries that she’s so great at writing. also a surprising m/m couple in the last book, both of whom are characters in the other two installments. (tw for drug use/addiction, brief sexual assault, and probably other things that i can’t remember right now)
the raven cycle by maggie stiefvater - also in my top 3 favorite series of all time, i cannot begin to describe this series. i first read it while up in the nc mountains which improved the experience to a surprising degree, but it’s stuck with me for the last several years. basically 5 teenagers go in search of a dead welsh king, but along the way there is magic, psychics, ghosts, a sentient forest, dreams becoming reality, curses, teenage shenanigans, classic cars, swearing, church, kisses and not kisses, illict hand holding, a baby crow, bisexuality, a death list, hitmen, and nicknames and it will consume your heart before you know what’s happening to you (tw child abuse, implied sexual assault, substance abuse, dissociation, mentions of past suicide attempts, body horror, gore, and disturbing scenes esp. in the last book)
six of crows by leigh bardugo - a team of criminals band together to break into an impossible fortress, fall in love, con an entire city, and get rich. set in the same universe as the grisha trilogy (which is also good but not as good as soc), this is basically a heist followed by a con, but pulled off by ruthless teenagers and with the help of magic
curseworker trilogy by holly black - crime families, magic that can only done through touch so everyone wears gloves, moral ambiguity, and a twisted romance. one of holly black’s best and most underrated series
baccano! by ryohgo narita - this is a japanese light novel series which has been adapted into an anime, but is much more extensive in print. the plot is extremely convoluted, but an absolute ride spanning several centuries, although the bulk of it is in the 1930s in nyc and chicago. there’s an elixir of immortality, crime families, trains, a solipsistic assassin and his mute assassin gf, serial killers, a demon with a catch phrase, murder, explosions, adorable couples, gambling, a gang leader named jacuzzi who is always terrified, killer corporations, and much much more
no.6 by asuka asano - another japanse series, this time focusing on two boys, one who grew up in a utopian city, the other who grew up outside the walls after the city destroyed his life. they meet when they’re 12 years old, and several years later, they’re reunited when the outsider rescues the city boy from arrest. they, along with a pimp and a nonbinary dog hotel owner, try to expose and overthrow the government. also ft. drag performances, mice who like shakespeare, killer bees, and boys falling in love.
the merlin saga by t.a. barron - my favorite take on arthurian mythology, chronicling merlin as he comes into his power. there’s a vividly magical island, giants, amulets, talking trees, stones that will try to swallow you, a swamp witch, celtic deities, huge wicker hats, poetry, new kinds of fruit, people that are also deer, and human’s long lost wings.
