I just had a dream where there was a ton of people fighting on byler tumblr bc all the bylers were starting to convert to ‘byfro’ (Will Byers and Frodo Baggins from Lord of the Rings) supporters and everyone thought it was gonna be canon and me and just a few other still byler supporters were trying to prove them wrong.
And then there was this trend where you’d make a video of you jumping 10 feet in the air and caption the video ‘Frodo when he sees will’ and I’ve never been so confused.

Get To Know Your Fanfic Writer
Tagged by @penna-nomen, thank you!! <3 <3
When did you post your first ever fanfic? 15 May 2012, on LiveJournal. It was a very indulging secretly self-insert Peter Burke fic.
First character(s) you wrote for: The White Collar fandom. Mostly Peter & Neal and Peter/El
Main character(s) you’re currently writing for: Zorro. Sounds weird, I know, but gotta follow the muse...
Character(s) you haven’t written about before but plan on writing about soon: That is a good question. Nothing specific comes to mind right now. I haven't really felt the urge to write for a new fandom recently. All my projects are from my current fandoms. (Unless you count Alejandro Murrieta/Zorro as a new character - I do have a fun Mask of Zorro/Disney Zorro crossover idea). As for new fandoms, I do have a bit of an obsession with Good Omens at the moment, though I haven't had any specific idea popping in my head.
Fandom(s) you’re currently writing for: Zorro. And there's that White Collar/Forever crossover I haven't given up on yet. Oh and a hint of Person of Interest if you count that POI/Zorro fusion that I'm tempted to write LOL
Platonic pairing(s) you currently write for: Peter & Neal, Diego & Bernardo. As mentioned, thinking of a Diego & Alejandro story.
Romantic pairing(s) you currently write for: Rosarita/Diego, but in the past, mostly Peter/El (I honestly don't do much romantic pairings otherwise)
Your top 3 tags on AO3 (if you post your works on AO3): Fluff, episode tag, Angst. Yep, that sounds pretty accurate to me LOL
Your current platform where you post your works: AO3 and fanfiction.net
Snippet of the wip you’re currently working on:
At 7:00, Henry opened the newspaper he had brought with him and, still following the instructions given by his son, he opened it at the sport section.
“I saw a mockingbird in the park,” he said out loud to no one in particular and feeling rather foolish doing so.
Appearing out of nowhere, a short bald man wearing thick glasses sat down next to him and opened his own newspaper.
“What color was the mockingbird?” the man asked, without looking at Henry.
Henry startled and turned to face the man. “There’s more?!”

look i know aoyama is the traitor and all but i have always been (and always will be) a traitor kaminari believer, and because of that i LOVE when i read fics that aren’t really about the traitor but the traitor comes up somehow and they find out the traitor is kaminari. because i’ve read all of the fics that have traitor kaminari tagged but those fics don’t have the traitor tag and it’s a pleasant surprise.

The brilliant lights of the buildings and the strange shadows they cast presented a wonderful cover from the sea of people down below. As it was always in the city that never sleeps, the citizens and sightseers talked and occasionally hollered at each other. Horns blared as impatient drivers attempted to make it quicker to their destination. All the while, without fail, the stars hung themselves over the expected chaos as the moon shined overhead. Two figures took advantage of the night’s natural cover to leap rooftop to rooftop in practiced expertise. For them, it was just another typical patrol night on their quest to find the last missing piece of their mission. The last piece that will finally, finally give the respect they deserved from their clan.
Or at least, that was what the Foot Apprentice had told her. Not that she really had any reason to doubt him. He’d been raised among the Foot since he was a baby. She had only been among them since she accepted their —his— offered hand during a hard time in her preteen years. Dirty and alone and angry and hungry —so, so hungry.
Shaking her head, she slowed down and came to a halt. The sharp sting of the cold breeze caused her to shiver. She brought up her arms to rub the feeling away. It’d been a long month already and not even the hideaway behind the Foot Shack felt comfortable or safe to be in anymore. Things were beginning to ramp up after years of mild activity. Never in all of her days as coming to be one of them, had she seen such agitation among her two leaders, though they’ve certainly tried to hide it. She’d even overheard them discussing big names like Baron Draxum, Big Mama, and… the Hamatos. Granted, she had actually already known of the last one. As she and Apprentice had recently been in talk about the enemy clan with Lieutenant and Brute. As it was them who had the final piece to reawaken their long absent Master.
“Hey, it looks like I lost you there, Recruit.” She turned her head to watch as Apprentice did an impressive flip onto the roof and cockily approached her with an easy grin. However, she could see the thin crease of dark material between his brow ridges and the slight tenseness to his shoulders that read the true concern. It was a high honor to be personally chosen by the direct lineage of the great Master Shredder as a confidant. To be allowed close enough to learn more and be trusted behind his carefully crafted persona. It no longer seemed strange to her that he was a mutant turtle. “Penny for your thoughts?”
“Ugh…” She rolled her eyes and plopped down as close to the edge of the building as she dared. She swung a leg over the side and kept the other firmly tucked beneath her. The life of the city continued its pace below her watchful eye. “Just… overwhelmed, I guess. It almost seems surreal that we’re almost there, you know? That we’re actually getting things done. It’s— I can just feel that something is different. That people are just waiting for whatever it is.”
He hummed and his leg brushed against her upturned elbow as he struck a pose. The overconfident dork.
“Well, my dear, Recruit. Never fear! For the Apprentice is here.” He let out a chuckle. His sharp eyes never once letting off their surroundings, despite his faux nonchalance. “And remember that we’ve gotten this far in due to us. The Clan is practically helpless without our epic skills! Our fearless leaders would be crying their big boy pants if we weren’t there to help the ol’ geezers along with their walkers.”
Recruit snorted at the imagery, rolling her eyes before focusing in on the flash of a very familiar shade of pesky orange from the the corner of her eye. There he was, and for once didn’t seem to be there to interrupt or destroy their hard work. In fact, he hadn’t yet seemed to realize they were even there. Now, where was the other half of his hero duo… Like clockwork Orange was being shadowed by the Yellow, Chaos Incarnate, herself.
Slowly raising an eyebrow, Recruit wondered what exactly they were up to. With a sharp elbow jab and the yelp behind her that indicated she had successfully reached her target, she directed her superior’s attention to the loathsome two. Any hurt feeling we’re swept away as they decided to rest their tiresome search to, instead, follow their long-time nemesis’. Even more strange was the fact that they were simply walking among the crowds on the sidewalk as opposed to leaping the rooftops as they were also known to do. Then the duo separated at what looked to be an apartments building. Yellow’s home perhaps? As expected, they too separated in order to keep both in sights. Apprentice having decided to follow Orange and she debating on whether to stay put or risk a closer look. Turns out she didn’t have to debate as she saw Yellow pop back into her line of vision onto the building’s roof, from the door leading to the stairwell. Again, she wondered why she didn’t just use the fire escape. It seemed more simple and, even better, less annoying people.
Yellow approached the rooftop’s pool, pulling out her phone. Huh.
It was ten minutes later when the adrenaline-inducing *ker-shnk* of Orange’s notable grapple hook latched onto something high over Yellow’s location and he zipped through the air in a blur of green and orange. The crazy box turtle let go of the rope at the peak of his arch and tucked into a rather impressive display of acrobatics before diving into the water with a huge splash. Recruit blinked.
Were they… practicing their cannonballs?!
Only the slightest shift alerted her that the Apprentice had returned.
“Wow, I’ll give him an A for effort but everything else? Yeesh, kid needs to do some work on that. A little wobbly on the aerial stunts.” He let out a grunt as he stretched his arms, before resting them behind his head. His half-lidded gaze turned to her. “So… what do you say we crash a pool party?”
To say that the grin growing onto her face looked even the slightest bit sane, would be a lie. In fact, what she was feeling was downright feral. “YES!”
Here’s the art without the reflective shading:

whenever i see a medical professional reacting to medical dramas and complaining about the inaccuracies i’m like 🙄 it’s for entertainment purposes, you don’t have to flex your degree, but now i’m reading a book and the main character makes a point about her evil stepmother who orders her chai latte with soy milk and double coffee and i’m like 😬 what do you mean? two times 0 is still 0

Happy Friday writing! I am in quite the Don't Run mood right now. Freya is just so epic and darkly funny. I really enjoy writing her. I've got 3 chapters done and lined up for sharing later this month AND she's finally having a soft moment with Ezra...
I've got a bunch of stuff still on this week's sticky note to play with today.
And another Bite to Bruise post coming out later today!
Hope you're having a good time zone! <3

Ship dynamics meme. Every now and then I see a "ridiculously cheesy flirt" type character who I just find to be endearing, LOL. Not very often, because it entirely depends on how the Person A looks, but yanno.
Just to be clear, the second one is not "Person B is tsundere/playing hard to get/acts mad but is totally blushing". It's Person B genuinely being unimpressed and thinks Person A is absolutely ridiculous.
Trying to remember if I've ever seen a mainstream example of the first pair... The second one is more common, and I see it a lot, but I don't remember off the top of my head for the first one.
I have OCs that's like that, but otherwise, IDK LOL... Maybe in one of the many otome games I played there is something like that, but nothing's coming to mind.

I wish I had your ability to create fairly big blogs and update them with art as often as you do. You are super amazing
I understand the pain of waiting for something to update for forever. And then realizing the creator just dipped.
I won’t do that to my followers I refuse!
Also it helps that I’m like super emotionally attached to the characters I draw and they r my coping mechanism

For the ask game 💚
also good luck packing and Bon Voyage! :D
What’s something you’ve learned about while doing research for a fic?
Well, because I like to ground things in reality, because several of the shows I've written for take place in New York (White Collar, POI, Forever, almost all I wrote actually!) and because events in several fics take the characters all over the city, I've acquired quite a bit of knowledge of Manhattan's geography (it does help that I've been there a few times, each time spending quite some time looking at the paper map so I do have a good mental image of Manhattan).
And speaking of looking up characters' trips on Google Maps, I've also learned that 1. You could go back in time with Street Views. 2. That Abe's Antique just kept the sign for the whole season which has thus been immortalized in Street Views. (And *for once* the address they give in the show is actually the address the building is at!)
But honestly, I don't dive too much on research while writing fics. I might look up the basics "how bad is a dislocated shoulder" or "how long to recover from a bullet wound" but I tend to use mostly what I already know (for the medical stuff, from years of watching medical dramas, including every single House episode, and the first 5 seasons of ER) and for the rest, the shows themselves, or things I do know. I like to incorporate stuff I know. Again to ground things in reality. All my White Collar post S6 fics taking place in Paris have little details based on me living in Paris. That fic where Peter and Neal spend the day visiting museums is based on my experience of those museums. Or I learn/read something unrelated, and that makes an idea pop in my head. So it's not research for a fic, but more information that lead to a fic.
Thank you for the ask and for the good wishes! :)
