Ultimately, in the Pokemon world, any argument can always be resolved with a battle. Since both sides present good arguments, good « truths » I think it will come down to who has the strongest « ideal ». By having a battle both sides will show how serious and devoted to their cause they are.

I like to think that in the Pokemon world, how you feel affects how you and your Pokemon perform. If you aren’t determined to win, if you don’t fully and truly believe that what you are doing is right, your battling skills will show it. If it comes down to Ingo fighting the leader of the opposition, while the scientist do believe they’re doing the right thing, Ingo is a millions time more determined.

He is lady Sneasler’s warden. He swore an oath to take care of her and her kin. No one will take them from him.

In some cases, but this is all legal problems, so they can't really battle their way out without it becoming assault or resisting arrest xP I mean, you can't just use a pokebattle to get outa paying rent or taxes! Now if the person HEADING the suit against them is willing to settle via a Pokemon battle, that's different.

However, while you can judge most professional battlers by how they fare, I wouldn't say all people who lose are less authentic or passionate, but that their heart is more focused on something else (like Hop or Bianca!). I mean, Ingo is extremely passionate, but can it really be said that the researcher or conservationist isn't passionate too? Both have followed their love into a certain field. It's not like no two people in the world can be the same amount of passionate. Not to say Ingo isn't set in his goal or extremely talented at what he does, but... Well. He's not unstoppable. Dawn herself can take him down and there are people in the world who can take her down.

Plus, depending on the head conservationists battling skills or lack thereof, it could be said that Ingo is trying to strongarm his cooperation, because Ingo's literally a professional pokemon battler. Not all passions or ideals of people will be battle focused, so that leaves them at an unfair disadvantage, doesn't it? Putting your life work into preserving endangered species isn't likely to result in a team that's physically strong so much as they are useful in breeding and healthcare needs (chanseys, Indeedee's, dittos, some dog Pokemon to guard or protect nervous Pokemon, etc.).

Pokemon training is akin to a sport or cultural base, but you cant build a society by might equals right. So while professional trainers like the Champion will have some power, they're more at the level of a diplomat that a president.

Though if anything, if they did choose to go that way... I'd say it'd end in a draw, shocking everyone. Because Ingo IS passionate and set in his goals, but he's struggling with an undercurrent of self doubt and imposter syndrome, while the head of the other side might just be having a few doubts or concerns, they also have their heart set on some things... But who could say~? =3

after playing pkmn shield my self i have dumped random thoughts here

- good things about sword/shield that i liked and enjoyed

i like the wild area, its soo fun and cool and i like going to the raid den things and just collecting watts and finding sparkly spots and filling pokedex feels more fun than in previous games..

i love that making competitive pokemon is a lot more accessible and convenient, without needing to spend hours and hours breeding with ditto etc.. making Nature Mints a thing and making Bottle Caps / Ability Capsules waay more accessible is amazing, like you can make any crap pokemon with bad IVs / nature / stats into perfect battle-ready if you want to or are attached to it

- bad things about sword/shield

dex-cuts (no.1 thing that pushes me away from new pkmn games)

20 minute battle timer (6v6 online battles are really restricted bc the timr is locked to 20 minutes with absolutely no way to change it .. it was 60 minutes on 3DS and all previous games, and this change is really alienating for ppl that play singles 6v6. having a low timer like this actually encourages stalling and time-outs & tons of people complained about the battle timer when sword/shield was first released but it was never patched, and then BDSP and Scarlet/violet have the 20 minute locked timer too. so it's clear that gamefreak doesnt care and is sticking with it, despite it being such a random inconsequential thing to change for no reason in the first place.)

dynamax (really imbalanced mechanic, clearly meant to be balanced more in doubles/VGC and it's still rlly centralizing there.. the problem is the stat-boosts / weather effects / terrain that causes pkmn to snowball. dynamax would be perfectly fine if it was JUST increased HP and powered-up attacks for 3 turns, without all the secondary effects)

removal of Mega evolution and various attacks/status moves like return/frustration/pursuit/hidden power etc (actually im sorta fine with hidden power being removed, but all the other moves being cut was dumb.. normal types already suck offensively, why remove their best attack with Return/Frustration??)

removal of GTS and putting it behind a Pokemon HOME Paywall, which is possibly the most hilarious thing that the pkmn company / gamefreak has ever conceived

generally poor balancing decisions (giving most fairy types Mystical Fire (but only the ones that are already good like Sylveon, Gardevoir etc) as if fairy types need universal fire-coverage, meanwhile Mr. Mime and Wigglytuff and Dedenne still cant even learn Moonblast and have to use Dazzling Gleam. also gamefreak decided to nerf Vespiquen of all pokemon by removing Heal Order from the game

i appreciate that Glaceon learns Freeze-dry now though :3

this is without even mentioning the overall quality of the games, i lost energy to think words and am now listening to music

In white 2 I finally got yancy to trade me a ralts. But the ralts is already at level 50, and bumped up to a gardevoir within a few levels. But she seemed a bit weak and I think I recall something about how EVs arent good this way. So I decided to breed a new ralts so I can make use of grinding.

Egg groups are weird. I got two eggs from the elegant, generally humanoid and planty gardevoir breeding with the partially ghostfire and partially wrought iron chandelure. Meant to just make one, but I took the egg and biked back and forth on one of the bridges til it hatched, giving them enough time to have boned summoned an egg again. So now I have two ralts that know will-o-wisp

At least in white 2 ditto can easily be found in the wild so I dont have to worry about egg groups matching up. As I have some pokemon that I'd like to retrain but cant easily get breeding. Like a Male lopunny I transferred over, or eevees where I only have two Male ones and the only spot to get them wild is not available this season. Caught one from that wild spot in the castelia sewers garden, but it's currently blocked. Other one you can just get from someone handing it to you in a part of the city.

I got a vaporeon and glaceon, but I think I'll want to get the other eons that I can get in this game.

I checked the medal box and there are a series of achievements for beating the elite 4 with monotype teams which seems challenging.

fun facts about the ditto line! of course they cant breed with others of their species so how do they create more ditto? a sort mitosis! when ditto eats a lot their little goo body gets bigger and when they feel theyre too big and require too much food theyll split a good chunk off to keep trim and that chunk becomes another ditto. of course with all things there are outliers, so if a given envrionment has enough food to comfortably sustain a giant ditto you will get some giant ditto.

Love your idea with pokemon and GotG. What if Meredith gave the Eevee to Quill at a very young age, and so he has a soft spot and doesn't really know if he wants to evolve it in fear it may ruin the memory. Also, what would Ego's pokemon team would be like? I'm calling it now, i bethe would have a Deoxys. It's a legendary, it's literaly the DNA pokemon. And it's from space. Maybe a ditto too. Because it cna shape shift and is perfect for breeding.

Oh wow! I love that idea!If i make this an actual fanfic, i will definitely use that eevee idea. I cant believe i didnt think of that (facepalms)Ego would definitely have a bunch of legendaries. Deoxys is definitely one of them, but his ultimate goal is to attain Arceus, the god pokemon. The guardians would learn about Arceus and would probably have to get the elemental plates from various different planets to keep Ego from getting them. I think you just helped me with my plot. Thank you anon :D I do plan on doing Ego's and Mantis' teams soon, but i wanna get the others out of the way too :D

Pokemon Breeding! Aka, the story behind your Ditto.

IVs are hidden values, and a pokemon with perfect IVs is like, fractionally better than a pokemon without them. It’s not very important, but I try to get pokemon cause it’s really fun for me to do. I’m gonna write a tutorial for you on how to get a perfect pokemon!

First of all, you’ve got to get your good IV pokemon. I use Ditto, because they’re so versatile, but you can if you’re a masochist get new starting breeders for each pokemon. In the Gen 6 and Gen 7 games there are ways to get decent Ditto’s, and I’m gonna go over how to get a few in 7. There’s a method called chaining where you have a pokemon use SOS calling thing a lot.

To start: Get a munchlax, and teach it Recycle. It doesn’t have to be a munchlax, but munchlax learns it naturally, and I can’t name any other pokemon that learn it. Make sure recycle is munchlax’s ONLY move, it has to be it’s ONLY move. Then, get a pokemon with False Swipe. And get a few Adrenaline Orbs, they;re on sale in a lot of pokemon centers. Also get a pokemon that could defeat a clone of itself if it comes to it. Like maybe a dragonite with Ice Beam. That’s just an example, it doesn’t have to be dragonite, but I just mean something that could take a clone of itself out. Cause it can happen. Finally, get a pokemon with Trick or Switcheroo (Hexy, your Delphox, has this). Give this pokemon a Leppa berry. Then, with your Munchlax, your False Swipe mon and your clone killer, get ready to take on some Ditto!

1. Go to Mount Hokulani (Minior Mountain) and run around until you find a Ditto!

2. Have it turn into your munchlax, so that the ditto’s only move is recycle too.

3. Switch in Hexy, and give the ditto a Leppa Berry. This ditto can now not die unless you kill it.

4. Switch in your False Swipe mon and knock the Ditto down to 1HP.

5. Switch in your clone killer.

6. Use an Adrenaline Orb.

7. Start knocking out every ditto that is summoned. If a ditto isn’t summoned, use another adrenaline orb. It’s a free turn! The orb isn’t used up.

8. Once you’ve knocked out 40 (IM SORRY ITS SO MANY) ditto, catch one! If you paralyze it, it cant call for help anymore. Be careful not to kill it!

9. You did it! You now have a (maybe) good Ditto!

That’s the process I went through to get my Dittos, and I’ve given you one with incredibly good stats. So you don’t necessarily have to go through this is you dont want to. Next! We’re onto breeding!

First, you need the pokemon you wanna breed. I’m gonna use Bounsweet as an example!

1. Get a Bounsweet. Yay! Easy step!

2. Give the Ditto a Destiny Knot (the one I gave you has one).

3. Drop Bounsweet and Ditto off in the daycare, and grab a few eggs.

4. Hatch them! (Fletcher may have the ability Flame Body, which speeds up hatching massively).

5. Get one with the right nature for the pokemon you want. I think Steppe has a Careful nature, which boosts Special Defense by 10% and lowers Special Attack by 10%.

6. Give the Careful Bounsweet (or whichever pokemon with a good nature) an everstone. This guarantee’s any eggs from it will have the same nature!

7. Put this Bounsweet with Ditto in the daycare, and hatch a lot of eggs! Hopefully you have the pokemon stat checker thing from a person in the battle tree area, you’ll need that.

8. Every time you hatch an egg, check it’s stats in the stat checker! If a pokemon has Best in a stat, that’s great! What you’re aiming for is for the pokemon to have Best in all it’s stats, or at least 5 of them. Your Ditto has 4 Bests, and those are the one’s most likely to be maxed out for the offspring, but if you breed a 3 Best Bounsweet with a 4 Best Ditto it will be better than breeding a 0 Best Bounsweet. I hope you understand!

9. Next, if you’re really dedicated, you can keep breeding 4 Best Bounsweet with 4 Best Ditto, until you get a 5 Best! But if you don’t want to do that, you can slowly level up the Bounsweet to level 100, then use a bottle cap on it, which artificially boosts it’s IVs.

Just a quick explanation on items.

Destiny Knot: Not a furry thing. When pokemon breed and this is being held by one of the parents, it guarantees any egg produced WILL have 5 IVs identical to the parents. This means there’s like a slightly less than 50% chance that each Bounsweet Egg will have all 4 Bests the same as Ditto. my brain is turning to mush now. Please ask me if you want help on any of this! And here’s a challenge if you super want to do it.

CHALLENGE MODE:

Make a perfect Porygon! Get a Porygon with Bold or Calm nature, and ‘Best’s in HP, Def, SpD, and Spd! This is just something fun to do while you’re at home, but you don’t have to!

I haven’t explained Egg Moves in this tutorial. Hold on. Say you want your Bounsweet to have Synthesis, an ‘Egg Move’. This means that Bounsweet can only have that move through breeding. You breed a Bounsweet with a compatible pokemon that knows Synthesis, like Baconpants. Then use the resulting Bounsweet in breeding Step 3 and forward and you’ll have an egg moves!

You better be doing those cheerful drawings too!

There is no National Dex (terms in bold appear in the glossary at the end) in the upcoming Pokémon game, Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, it's not #brexit, its #dexit. There is a grumbling controversy fluttering in the forums and the social medias as people are furious that a thing has been 'taken' away from them because not all of the currently available Pokémon will be catchable or transferable in the upcoming games for the first time in the mainline series of the games since last year's Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu and Pokémon Let's Go Eevee 2002's Pokémon Sapphire and Pokémon Ruby. And as semi-professional contrarians, we straddle that high horse and RP a bit of devils advocate. Is taking the National Dex away a bad thing? As of the end of Generation 7 there are 809 pokémon, including the Meltan and Melmetal caught in a seventh and eighth generation limbo. Given past additions to the dex we have seen that number increase by roughly 100 each generation following this trend we could assume that this number would be 900+ for Generation 8. And yes it would be nice to have the option of all against all, but if Gamefreak say they are dropping that number down, ultimately it just means for a different meta. Yeah some of your buddies wont be allowed into the new region, and since Galar is based on the UK, and given the time we live in... we could call it an immigration policy? That being said, we don't know how or what or how many pokémon are not making the cut, maybe its 700, maybe its 200 maybe they are changing it up by cutting out a whole type (or two)! Technically it wasn’t in Pokémon Sun or Pokémon Moon either… Sun and moon did not have a national dex, Yes you could have all your pokémon, however your "living dex". in fact your "numbering" of the national dex is only from Pokémon Bank and references outside of the games themselves. Has it actually been taken away? (Pokémon Home) My living dex does not live on my game, it lives on Pokémon Bank, occasionally a Pokemon will be checked out an brought to the real game as part of a breeding program whereby it is forced to fuck a Japanese ditto (Masuda method) or it's offspring, several hundred times until I have favourable set of stats and/or pretty alternative colours. Think of it as a grotesque library of genetics where by the mons are caged in limbo and some of the luckier ones are allowed out to a breeding centre whilst I ride about on my bike beside the breeding centre endlessly hatching and destroying its young, until the egg I want hatches. At which point the mon is returned to it's electronic limbo. What is "Home"? Pokémon Home is the new Pokémon Bank, we know very little beyond it being a new storage system, but how much interactivity will it offer, what functionality will it have? It could be like ranch offering you the ability to play with them all, it much offer even just EV training or Pelago style interactions. Until we get more info I reckon surfacing and getting on the dexit hypetrain is silly. Is this generation only going to have one game? Obviously it is impossible to say at this point in time but realistically, probably not and Game Freak have suggested that this is the plan. So far every generation of 'mainline' games has had multiple entries per generation in addition to a healthy stack of spin-offs. However, significantly for the first time we may have a scenario in which RPGs in the same generation aren't strictly compatible with each other. We'd love to have more data on the spread of players across different games within a generation i.e. how many people were trading, battling etc. across Pokémon X and Pokémon Y with players of Pokémon Alpha Sapphire and Pokémon Omega Ruby our suspicion is it's a lot of players who just had the older game. This new change implies that this won't be the case from here on out (because if players of Pokémon Kettle and Pokémon Pot can battle with players in Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, they can see the animations so why aren't the pokémon just in the game?). Next year, there will be an 'Ultra Sword' or a 'Gen 4' remake, which will either bolster or offer a different set of Pokemon for a different "season" of competitive play, making Home even more relevant. Other things that have been taken away? Oh man, and out of the woodwork it comes, gripes moans grumbles about aching old mechanics from past generations. Last/This gen we had it sweet with the pelagic islands, reducing EV training and berry growing to a minimal task, no longer needing a notepad and pen or excel sheets. In general I will not hear any moans about super training, or chaining, they are awful mechanics that deserve to have died and been replaced with the quality of life improvements we got this time. The only Contentious point I can see is the removal of Z Moves and Mega Evolution, however, seeing we are getting a new megasizing mechanic (dynamax) I am up for this, again in all actuality all this does is shake up the end game, and will change which pokemon may end up being the most powerful for this generation. What does it ultimately mean? There will be missing Pokémon there is a chance that your favourite niche Pokemon wont make it to the game and you cant add it to your team, and that is sad times. This means you will have to choose from the other X amount available to you and at end game there will be a tidy collection of pokemon that were only available at in Galar, while you wait for the next entry in this generation (SwordShield 2: Ireland). In the online competitions for a year we might not have any Ultra Beasts, or Incineroar, or rapid spinners etc etc. I still guarantee that the competition will be slow as shit and twice as boring. Enjoy the game with the new 'mon's that's actually the best part, getting to know the new guys, playing with their new abilities and moves, that is a big part of the heart of the game! these new strange different creatures add them too your party, even though their stats are awful, Battle through the gyms (or events). At the end of it all find the 'mons that you want to create some niche hook doubles team with fight against the AI and get trounced by a fucking Bibarel/Zebstrika combo! Glossary of Terms Generation (Gen): /dʒɛnəˈreɪʃ(ə)n/ A generation is an arbitrary fan decided word that breaks up and describes the chronology of the video games when a new set of Pokemon are 'released'. It used to be an important shortcut word to talk about the games as Pokemon from across generations were always compatible in the latest games. Sword and Shield potentially end the usefulness of talking about generations, starring Patrick Stewart and William Shatner. Dex: /ˈdɛks/ Short for Pokedex which is a portmanteau of Pokemon Index. A catalogue of virtual monsters which offers flavour text, but most importantly a number, which upon relieving a specific monster of it's freedom is presented to you. Depending on the game the catalogue provides habitat data, sexual dimorphism and other appearance differences, average heights and weight as well as multilingual descriptions (see also National Dex). Digimon: /nɒk,nɒk, ɒf/ Fuck off Dynamax: /ɪˈrɛkʃ(ə)n/ The reason there will be an upsurge in the use of the Penis names for your pokémon : Richie used Dynamax. Penis became massive. Living Dex: /ˈlɪvɪŋ ˈdɛks/ A living dex is an achievement that some players choose to undertake and it is catching and owning one of every kind of pokémon, including having each evolution stage rather than just evolving a Pokémon and keeping the last stage. This is done partly as a fan constructed extra achievement but also comes in useful for breeding Pokémon. A standard living dex is just one of each species and stage of all 809 Pokemon, some players try to collect as many forms as possible, so all the different male, female and appearance variants taking the maximum total up to over three billion (the vast majority of these are Spinda forms which only the insane try to catch). There are then much rarer shiny versions of each Pokémon doubling this to more than six billion different individual animations. National Dex: /ˈnaʃ(ə)n(ə)l ˈdɛks/ This is the catalogue of virtual monsters that traditionally opens up after the main story is completed and allows the player to see information about pokémon not collectable within the game itself and only available by transferring from other games. In some games, finishing the main story then makes pokémon previously unavailable start appearing. Pokémon Sun and Moon did not have a National Dex although pokémon from other games could be caught (from Ultra Wormholes and other methods) and transferred over. Although this uproar is called 'Bring Back the National Dex' it's not actually about the national dex itself, more the availability of pokémon from other games. Richie: And following on from last Flame Rounds, round two is all Cunzy1 1's Cunzy1 1: Right this one might need a bit of explaining, I'd like to flames round (verb?) the grass and psychic Pokémon Exeggcute. Even if you've got only a passing familiarity with Pokémon you'll be aware that most of them are based on animals, plants, myths or household objects. Exeggcute is an egg cluster Pokémon made up of six egg-like creatures with faces. However, it's not just the whole clutch I want to flames round, specifically, it's the one which has a cracked shell. I don't like the way it's brain(?), yolk(?) is just exposed like that. Fucking disturbing dude. And each Exeggcute appears to have one as this camera trap photo shows: Exeggfuckinggross more like Richie: Right first, we need to address the elephant in the room, despite their misleading name they are not eggs, they are seeds (hence the Grass typing). That being said, I wont immediately disqualify you on grounds of incorrect reasoning here... yet. However, since they all look like that, are just meant to look like that? Its not hurting them, It may even be a good thing for it to expose itself.... Why do you want to hurt it so bad? Cunzy1 1: Explain the fucking psychic typing then? That's their brain capable of psychic waves and for the one whose head/face is broken it's yolk/brain is just out there. Open to the elements. When it rains it gets wet. You might accidentally throw a berry in there. Or touch it. It's like eyes. You shouldn't touch/lick eyes or exposed psychic brains. Especially in a fight. Pikachu used thundershock. Oh shit Pikachu, you gave 1/6 of Exeggcute permanent brain damage now. Some lightning got in the brain and now it can't taste fish or turn left. Richie:But there are a plethora of disturbing/disgusting ones out there: The Vanillish lineage literally all of their faces/head can melt, Spoink's heart will stop beating if it ever stops hopping, and don't get me started on the ghosts! Why is a cracked seedcase more worthy of elimination than the bounty of nightmarish Pokemon existences that are out there? Cunzy1 1: Because those all make sense. This one is because someone got bored of drawing eggs with faces so drew a cracked one and now every Exeggcute out there has to live with being able to taste the wind through their brain. I bet it's this one that turns into the scary mank face in Alolan Exeggutor. Oh Christ. Look at that. It's simple. It ain't right. It looks like a Ditto trying to do a Gulpin that had a stroke halfway through. It looks like one of those too inbred dog breeds where the brain falls out the back of the skull. This is body horror. In a kid's game (it's not just for kids). Richie: Right this is a tough one! So I wondered if perhaps there was an official reason for "the exposed brain", and as with most pokemon origins, their stories can take you on a rabbithole journey, and it seems Exeggcute is steeped in Yokai lore... Exeggcute/Exeggutor seem to have taken their inspiration from a subset of Yokai which are plants that take on human Features: Bashō no sei - Japanese banana spirit Said to be a spirit that haunts banana groves, and takes the form of a human face to scare people near by. The most hilarious part of all this is it is also said if a woman walks by at dusk she will get pregnant... So what forms are the bananas taking? Pretty safe to say unlikely to be the origin of Exeggcute. Ninmenju/Jinmenju - Human Face Tree This one seems to be the money for the Exeggcute line and needs a fucking trigger warning! Jinmenju trees are said to have human faces for fruit, they are constantly laughing, when one laughs too hard it falls to the ground. The fruit has a sweet/sour taste. It is said that the seed also has a human face. I mean this is all Nightmare fuel, far beyond that of that little Exeggcute you hate so much showing off it's endosperm. And as nice as it is to know the origin of where it comes from, I am now leaning towards Flame rounding all Exeggutes, Exeggutors and Alolan forms! Beyond this I wondered if there was any reasoning from the Pokedex for the cracked exeggcute, and there are a couple off references over the generations. Yellow States: The heads attract each other and spin around. There must be 6 heads for it to maintain balance. This makes me sad, we can just flame round one then... as we might just tip the rest of them over the edge.... Silver States: The shell is very durable. Even if it cracks, it can survive without spilling the contents. "Spill" Ugh that is the worst word to use, and makes me think liquid/yolk again... but again I'm reminded that this is just a seed inside, and probably just a yellow endosperm. Ruby/Sapphire States: It consists of six 'eggs' that care for each other. The eggs attract each other and spin around. When cracks increasingly appear, it is close to evolution. This provide the the most compelling argument that these little guys should be left alone, in all actuality the little mingin' exposed brain is gonna be the main dude evolving to become Exeggutor, though its really worth pulling on that thread, as it's one of these Pokemon which are separate Pokemon then evolve to become one gestalt bigger one (Magnemite/ Metagross etc). With this in mind, I'm sorry, but I cant flame round Exeggcute for super effective damage, as much as it looks like his brain may be exposed, does this justify ending that poor little cracked head guys existence? How can we flame round him! I mean he is the guy that is closest to evolving, if you flame round him do you not stop it evolving completely? If you separate it from he other 5 are they just going to cave into suicidal depression? I'm also fairly confident that that in the Pokemon universe even if his brain was exposed it wouldn't cause damage in the same way (i.e. no lasting damage, and even if there was, a super potion or a nurse joy just fixes that right up anyways). However much this causes your OCD to flare up, when you start to apply actual biology to Pokemon you'll get so many triggers. For instance one that gets me is, that red bit in the chest of Gardevoir/Gallade: Assuming it goes all the way through, Imagine grabbing ahold of it and wobbling it about, surely that would generate a feeling akin to having your ribcage pried apart? How can it sleep with the constant fear of turning over? In consolation for this however I will give you a hat:
