i know i'm about about 20 years late to this but i was waiting for other people to ask, but they never did! so for the wip game, please pretty please tell us about all the rest of the fics!! news paper au, vampire apocalypse, military brats au, angels & demons au, star wars au, rock music au, & Caligator - Slave fic hurt comfort Dystopian! sorry for being greedy ho, i can't help it when it comes to your stories 😔😔😔
It's never too late! 😊 And It's amazing to know you like my stories. Some of these others have asked about - the tag search system is broke af on my blog so my apologies. I will link those. But starting with the new stuff:
Star Wars Au - Billy is a powerful Jedi Knight with a reputation for rule breaking and struggling to control his emotions. After a busted up mission he's one step from being kicked out of the order, but gets an unexpected second chance. The mission is to travel to an outer planet and retrieve a mysterious Sith holocron, and to stop the sith lord who may also be hunting it. A simple enough mission, until he becomes entangled with a rogue pilot (with ridiculous hair). Steve's the rebellious son of a powerful trade conglomerate whose only interests seem to be star ships, girls, and getting into trouble; but there's more to him than meets the eye. On the plus side, Steve is not the Sith lord the council warned him to be wary of. On the downside he is the sith lord's apprentice and Billy just slept with him. AKA Struggling Jedi Knight Billy falls for Sith Steve. Two men, two different sides of the force. Is there a path between the darkness and the light that no one has found?
Rock Music Au - Steve is a closeted country singer who is part of a pop-country duo with his longtime girlfriend Nancy. Billy is a jaded rockstar down on his luck who takes a job as a janitor at a friend's studio in Nashville. A chance encounter one night at the studio allows him to hear Steve working on some new material. Steve is stuck creatively, stuck in a dying relationship, and is unable to be his authentic self and is depressed. Billy hears something in his music - real shit - and for the first time in months he's able to write music again. Steve is wary at first but he gives the song Billy gave him a try and it KILLS, blazing to the top of the charts. While Steve fights with his managers and Nancy about the changes he wants to make with his music, he falls into an affair with Billy who introduces him to the world of sex, drugs, and rock & roll. Billy can't stop making music whenever they're together, it's like Steve is his muse. But then everything goes crash, because it was always going to. You can't swap one addiction for another and call it healing. Steve's friends rush in to sweep up the pieces. Billy moves away and finally gets the help Max has been begging him to. He gets better, but he can't help looking back and wondering where Steve is now. Whether he's happy or if he and Nancy worked things out. Surely he wouldn't wait for Billy. But maybe he looks back too, and wonders if they can salvage the beauty in the broken?
Vampire Apocalypse - The apocalypse has arrived in the form of a strange disease that is killing off the human population and turning them into bloodsuckers. Not true vampires, but more like ravenous zombies with spoiled blood. Vampires can't even drink from them! Once hunted by humans, covens and werewolf packs have risen in prominence as the remaining population seeks protection from the hordes of the infected. Steve a half vampire runs away from his coven and hides out in a werewolf pack posing as an ordinary human. Things start to get complicated when he falls for Billy the alpha. Can they make it work or will the end of the world and ancient rivalries tear them apart?
Military Brats - Billy is a military brat, the golden child of the base who strives for perfection under his abusive father Neil. Steve is a queer rebellious punk who is the son of a big brass. The Harringtons are transferred to Cali due to Steve's misbehavior and an incident on the last base, and his reputation proceeds him among the military families. Neil warns Billy to stay away from Steve. Not to cause trouble on account of who his father is, but never to be alone with him. But that's hard to do when Steve seems to set his sights on Billy from the beginning and goes out of his way to give him a hard time. But what starts off as rivalry changes when Steve realizes that Billy isn't safe to be anything else but the perfect son, and slowly they start to peel back each others layers. Steve gives Billy a safe space to rebel and figure out who he really is, and Billy helps Steve realize he' shouldn't have to scream for attention, and that he's worth more than he thinks he is. They save each other.

I think you should go for it! ST fans can be sort of... intense but honestly if they cant handle criticism of their fav series then they should just like. not interact with the post (or get blocked if theyre assholes abt it). Also I'm interested now that you mention it!
ok ok. cracks my knuckles
i would talk about the racism issue solely, but it’s a fundamental problem with the 2nd season as a whole. it is sort of imbedded deep in the season and there’s no good way to properly discuss it without bringing up a lot of other stuff.
overall i do think season 2 is a great season of television. it just happens to be the worst stranger things season, but at the end of the day it’s still rlly good! a lot of iconic parts of stranger things originate from s2, steve’s redemption and his relationship with dustin, el and hopper’s relationship, the introduction of max and billy, etc. however, you can tell this season was written in under a year with all the questionable turns they took and the choices they made (cough cough what they did with billy and whatever 008’s deal was cough cough) but i’ll get to that.
a big issue with it is the pacing. its very long and drags on and the different storylines are not as interconnected as they are in the 1st and 3rd. 9 episodes and they spend a lot of time trudging onward toward the actual plot, the whole existence of episode 8 and that awful fucking cliff hanger, yeah.
unlike in the 1st season and the 3rd, the characters are split up because the duffers are aware that if they had been together from the beginning everything could have been solved immediately. compare that to the other seasons and the characters are split up because they are tackling different chunks of the same big mystery, them meeting up in the end and exchanging information feels more natural.
that also connects into the whole plotline with eleven.. it was set up beautifully but fell flat on its face almost immediately. i feel that the stuff with her mother was extremely well done, the cold opening with 008/kali was top tier and rlly gets you excited for everything. and then they deliver the “spinoff pilot” episode; it has good moments sure but kali as a character (and her gang as well) feel like badly written ocs. their dialogue is also Atrocious, good god. kali also has no real connection to the lab aside from being a number and getting her angsty edgy revenge? she doesn’t rlly teach us anything new about the lab or her and el’s backstory, which is a damn shame :(
there’s also max. i do rlly like her but her “not like other girls” introduction was a little bit gross imo. i think they did a good job rounding her out by the end; the romance plot with lucas was a little unnecessary and weird tho lol. that’s about it with her, otherwise i see why she’s a fan favorite :]
and then of course there is the elephant in the room, billy. it’s kind of a hard thing to talk about because there was so little tact in writing him and this entire thing. i just feel like, billy is a pretty tragic character overall, not just because of what they did to him but his purpose as well? i don’t know if most people are aware, but billy’s whole purpose and the reason behind his introduction was him getting possessed and dying (though, they didn’t have the full plot for s3 down yet). he was a character brought in to uplift steve and make him look better, he was created solely to be a piece of shit. honestly, it feels a little sucky to me.. he was written to be a 2D bully/villain, which rlly sucks because as far as i can tell a lot of the characters are not set up to be so two dimensional.
the characters are a big part of why the show works so well, they feel incredibly real and fleshed out (aside from the russians in s3 but thats a whole different topic, idk if i’m fully equipped to cover it). his actor had to come in and ask them if billy could have a little more to his character than that. he was trying hard to make this character meaningful and have a little more to him than just being a 2D jackass. i feel like his character would have been a total waste if not for the changes they made to him, especially with how talented his actor is. god and the decision to make him vaguely racist? Fucking Awful.
from what i understand the duffers were the one who wanted the subplot in the first place. kind of gross because they are two very white men who wouldn’t even begin to understand what goes into a subject like this, let alone how unnecessary the whole thing was. i like the show but at the end of the day it was still pretty immature at the time and not built for such heavy subject matter.. and the way they executed it really fucking shows that. they drop vague hints but never actually commit, the scenes are incredibly uncomfortable and not in a thought provoking way like they wanted. if they did talk with black writers and try to understand their experiences, or hell just have them write the damn thing, it really doesn’t show.
it also just fucking sucks for lucas as a character. they do so little with him and then they subject him to a very prominent trope in media— they couldn’t just let lucas be a black main character in a cool sci fi horror setting, something that is incredibly rare mind you, they HAD to make being discriminated against a part of his storyline. as a black person it honestly just breaks my heart that he and other black characters are reduced to discrimination and always in such a tasteless way.
for the third season, they somewhat retconned the whole thing. probably due to backlash. on one hand i’m incredibly grateful because the whole thing felt rlly disgusting and i like billy as a character. but on the other i am disappointed that they did. they made a shitty decision and instead of committing and writing it better, they just swept it under the rug.
this is all a matter of opinion though, if any other black users find anything wrong with my statements about the use of racism in the show feel free to let me know.
the whole thing just kinda sucks, this show is pretty great otherwise. but something like this is only inevitable in any popular media.
again these are all just my opinions. i have a lot of opinions about stranger things, it’s one of my favorite medias ever. but at the end of the day i’m still critical of it because u have to be, yknow.. i will never understand people over the age of 12 who blindly obsess over smth lol

Watching Pacific Rim so now I'm thinking about Pacific Rim AU things
Billy and Max being co-pilots and from Australia because i said so. Billy still gets to keep his surfing and sunshine and they have even more reason to be super chaotic. Their Jaeger is named Riptide Bruiser
Neil working on the wall and calling what the kids are doing a waste of time
Dustin is definitely one of the research division like I'm thinking very similar to Newt
El and Kali are copilots AND MY FRIEND @harborchild SAID THEY SHOULD HAVE SOMETHING BUILT INTO THEIR JAEGER THAT AMPLIFIES THEIR ABILITIES SO THEY CAN USE THEM AGAINST KAIJU. They are absolutely correct and I will not be taking criticism. Their Jaeger is named Bleeding Rainbow
Steve honestly doesn't really strike me as a pilot, but i definitely think he would be a solid vitals guy. Like one of the people in the office that's keeping track of vitals and coordinates and the drift
Alexei and Murray are also from the research division and Alexei developed El and Kali's device
Hopper being a retired Jaeger pilot and always giving her a solid hug before a drop. His jaeger's name was Bandit Sheriff
Billy and Max use the kaiju blue to keep a tally of their kills like in Predator
Will is training to be a jaeger pilot so that he can take his mom's place at Jonathan's side because she's old according to him, but she denies that accusation every time it comes up
Jonathan and Joyce's jaeger is named Magnet Clash
When Will becomes a pilot, Hopper comes out of retirement and he and Joyce co-pilot Bandit Sheriff

"Rebel robin" easterggs
Tumblr media
- Robin's friend is a horror movie fan whos fav movie is evil dead (jonathan has a poster of it in his room)
- Robin's parent's car is the " dodge dart" a ref to Dustin's demodog-dart
-robin and her friends make analogies to zombies (like Will- the zombie boy).
- robin faints. And her friend milton says "blink once for yes twice for no". A ref to what Joyce said to Will in s1.
- robin's other friend has a little sister named el-ie who pretends to be a squirrel. A ref to el killing a squirrel in s2. This is also reminiscent of a scene from the st prequel novel ' suspicious minds' where young-kali pretended to be a tiger (the Hawkins school mascot) & a rabbit (Jonathan's hunting story).
- robin reminds me alot of the byers: she is into photography and rock like jonathan and even worked at the movie theatre like jonathan did in the og pilot. They both like David bowie and cook for their families. She also is poor and wears hand-me down clothes from relatives (like Will). She also is into existential philosophers. Which is also similar to jonathan who had a poster of the poet rimbaud in his room.
- robin is almost run over by a car by a bully while riding her bike: similar to Mike, Dustin, and Lucas in s2
- robin says the best accessory for a girl is her middle finger. Cue max giving the middle finger to billy in s2 XD
- robin (before Will dissapears) sees the quarry and gets uncomfortable and thinks of metaphorical monsters
- similar to how billy had baseball references (along with Will). Robin wears a baseball shirt
- her fav flavor of pie is cherry (like alexi and cherry slurpies). She also gets pissed at a guy sipping a cherry flavored drink- similar to hopper in s3 with alexi
- she cuts her hair and she describes it as looking like a lion. El and Will owned lion plushies in s1.
- robin refs Chicago (kali lives there) and NYC (hopper used to live there), and California (where max and billy used to live).
-tammy's fav song is total eclipse of the heart: the song Robin and Steve sang in s3. Tammy would often sing the song in robin and Steve's class.
- they make references to the hellfire club: she describes a time where she dresses like a cross between a nerd and a rebel. And a mom yells at her appearance saying she looks "goddless' . And another of Robin's friend (kate) is told ' what demon is possessing you, kate?" (hinting at the satanic panic). Meanwhile someone describes Mike and his friends as "hellions' as another hint to this. We also see how alot of parents got paranoid and a bit crazy when Will and barb dissappeared- prob foreshadowing the chaos that will happen if more kids dissappear in s4. Along with the satanic panic
-Robin is visiting her friend Kate at her house. Kate wanted to listen to Madonna together. Max and el listened to Madonna at el's.
- Robin's friend (kate) says "I dumped his ass" in reference to her cheating bf. A little nod to the m*leven breakup
- robin (like Will) felt excluded during the summer cause her friends kate and dash (Kate's now ex bf) were always making out . Sound familiar- cough m*leven
- robin annoyed says " makeouts, breakups and declarations of love all in the span of a week". Wow if that ain't a diss to certain pairing we know in s3 XD
- kate (like mike) says to Robin dating the opposite sex is a part of growing up . Which scares Robin (and Will in s3).
- robin has a nightmare of running down the school hallway with short hair (like el in s2 via the upsidedown)
- robin contemplates shaving her head (like el)
- robin says she likes to sometimes dress androgynous . And found a cool suit. Which we saw in s4 bts pics I assume.
- robin watches a music video where there are duplicate indianna joneses (could be a ref to all the billy duplicates in s3?)
- robin says " I stare at the ceiling. The ceiling stares back. I'm stuck and don't know what to do" a ref to the s3 song with robin called "the ceiling is beautiful"
- a character named Sheena reminds me a bit of Will or el . She is very quiet, queercoded, and is often bullied. And she finds mean notes and other things in her locker- placed there by bullies. A bit like how Will found the zombieboy note in his locker. But sheena can be another name for Jane so ...maybe foreshadowing of el/jane being bullied in highscool?
- when robin hears a hom*phobic comment on tv- she describes the anxiety like a ' thundercloud in a big open sky' and a "chill". Which reminds me of the mf being associated with clouds, thunder, and lightning. And the mf liking it cold.
- robin constantly describes the monster or shadow in her life- whether it be her talking about conformity or the problems of consumerism while she is poor (themes of s3).
- robin before realizing she was gay/crushing on tammy just says " I don't get crushes' which reminds me a bit of Will saying " I'm not going to fall in love" (as the lyrics are " love thats new to you, you open up the door')
-robin on her bike hears something (demogorgan) and runs back to her house , locks the door, and calls her friend- and the phone gets electrocuted. The next day Will is said to be missing. (Another Will paralllel).
- i was right about robin being in theatre. So we most likely will see robin in theatre in s4 (she also auditioned with a friend in the book). So for s4 my guess is she may be in the drama club with dustin- cause in s1 he had a drama shirt
- one of her friends is named milton. Since the documentary 'paradise lost' was on the s4 movie list. Its prob a ref to John milton who wrote the fictional 'paradise lost'. The character Sheena may be a ref to the 80s film/movies *where sheena (jane) was psychic
-Robin's gal pal (kate) and Robin eat m&ms and candies together. Kate jokes m&ms and candy bars are 'foods of the gods'. El ate m&ms in s3. They joke how talking about plural gods (instead of 1) would get them in trouble. In case you are unaware- kali (is the name of a Hindu goddess) and el (is the name of a cannanite god) .
-Robin also mentions hopper's car smells like eggos.
- robin tries running away (like el in s2, max in her novel, and jonathan also wrongfully assumed Will ranaway in s1 too).
-robin tries to get a job at Joyce's, than Bob's, and later gets a job where jonathan used to work
-bob newby describes the byers family as his "home" . Similar to how El describes the Hawkins gang as "home".
- robin says she was friends with barb before nancy. Suspiciously right after she says this- barb grabs Robin's hallpass that says ' glitch in the time space continuim. " the teacher who wrote this called robin a "glitch". Which makes me wonder if my did theory is right- but ...that certain powers at be may also alter memories or things so people assume said people have always been around.Mentioning it cause it seemed suspicious.
-not an eastegg but robin can't believe how nice Bob is. And Bob says the byers filled a hole in his life 😭 . She also felt an instant connection with Will and saw alot of herself in him.And asked if Joyce ever thought of moving like everyone suggested . One of the reasons Robin didn't like steve was because Steve never mentioned how Jonathan took innapropriate photos of Nancy. So everyone at school just knew jonathan as the quiet kid who takes pictures. So to everyone it just seemed like- wow you're bullying the quiet kid who's brother is missing and take away the one thing still left in his life that makes him happy. Which is why everyone assumes jonathan beat up steve later. Interesting to know how general Hawkins (not in the loop) viewed things
- the book referenced alot of previously mentioned movies on the s4 list or from prior duffer interviews...along with a few NEW movies ,books, plays, singers, and songs that I have to analyze for another day ...

Walmart is seeking a crypto product lead, the Dogecoin Foundation is active again after a long break, Coinbase has amassed a $4 billion cash-backed war chest: Holder’s Digest, Aug. 15-21
Coming every Saturday, Hodler’s Digest will help you track every single important news story that happened this week. The best (and worst) quotes, adoption and regulation highlights, leading coins, predictions and much more — a week on Cointelegraph in one link.
Top Stories This Week
Walmart seeks crypto product lead to drive digital currency strategy
On Aug. 16, it was reported that U.S. retail giant Walmart was seeking out an experienced crypto expert who can develop and drive a digital currency strategy and product roadmap for the firm.
According to the job listing, Walmart is looking for someone with a track record of leading and scaling businesses. They also want at least 10 years of experience in product/program management and tech-based product commercialization.
Ideally, the candidate should also know a thing or two about crypto, blockchain tech and why JPEGs of poorly drawn pet rocks are selling for absurd prices on Ethereum.
Walmart’s future digital currency and crypto product lead will be based in the company’s home office in Bentonville, Arkansas. The state has produced talents such as Billy Bob Thornton and Johnny Cash, along with Bill and Hillary Clinton.
Team officially reestablishes Dogecoin Foundation after 6 years
There was good news for Doge fanatics this week as the Dogecoin Foundation resurfaced after several years of total media silence.
According to an announcement on Tuesday, the foundation stated it was reestablishing itself in a bid to support the fiery-eyed Dogecoin (DOGE) community. The foundation also said it would be announcing new projects that are centered on encouraging adoption of DOGE and promoting its utility.
The project’s website lists Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, Dogecoin co-founder Billy Markus and Dogecoin Core developer Max Keller as advisory board members. Furthermore, Tesla CEO and DOGE proponent Elon Musk’s interests may be catered to from the shadows via Neuralink CEO Jared Birchall.
It is yet to be revealed if Musk’s “toddler hodler” son has loaded up on DOGE in light of the announcement.
Coinbase amasses a $4B war chest so it can outlast ‘crypto winter’
Coinbase, the top U.S. crypto exchange, has amassed a cash-based war chest worth $4 billion on the back of two very productive quarters for the firm.
The company reportedly expected to use the cash to cover costs incurred by a variety of factors, including conforming to new regulations handed down by the United States legislature.
Coinbase has also announced its official launch in Japan in partnership with banking giant Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, while also revealing plans to add $500 million worth of crypto to its balance sheet and invest 10% of all generated profits into digital assets moving forward.

Vitalik Buterin, Ethereum co-founder
“Here at home in America, […] our payments infrastructure is arguably the worst of any developed country in the world, and increasingly falling behind, while China is moving with determination and haste to build an infrastructure that will make the digital yuan a challenger to the dollar as the world’s reserve currency.”

Prediction of the Week
Ethereum ‘liquidity crisis’ could see new ETH all-time high before Bitcoin — Analyst
Bitcoin, the crypto industry’s largest asset by market cap, and Ethereum (ETH), the second-largest asset, have both posted notable price recoveries over the past several weeks. Although BTC has yet to be surpassed as the crypto industry’s top dog, ETH might tap its own all-time price high near $4,400 sooner than BTC reaches its record level of nearly $65,000, according to thoughts from CryptoQuant CEO Ki Young Ju.
“$ETH might reach its all-time high earlier than $BTC in the long term,” Ju tweeted on Wednesday. “Current $ETH price is closer to ATH compared to $BTC. Higher demand, lower supply. $ETH sell-side liquidity crisis still intensifies, while $BTC exchange reserve stopped its downward trend in May.”
On Friday, BTC fluctuated above the $48,000 mark, and ETH traded above $3,200 — which, however, are both still notably shy of their record highs.
FUD of the Week
JPMorgan Chase reportedly shuts down bank accounts of Bitcoin mining firm
On Aug. 19, U.S. banking behemoth JPMorgan Chase reportedly blocked all account activities of Bitcoin mining firm Compass Mining.
Whit Gibbs, the CEO of Compass Mining, took to Twitter to share the news:
“Shoutout to @Chase for shutting down @compass_mining accounts for doing our part to replace the old guard with self-sovereign, future-focused supporters of hard money. Get behind #Bitcoin or get out of our way.”
It is unclear if the temper tantrum will be enough to sway JPMorgan Chase to change its mind, and it is also unclear how shutting down banking services to one Bitcoin mining firm represents an attack on BTC in any way.
If anything, the banking giant has been upping its exposure to Bitcoin and the crypto sector in 2021.
Liquid exchange hacked to the tune of $80 million
Liquid, a Japanese crypto exchange, was the victim of a $80 million-plus hack this week which made the platform not so… liquid.
Cointelegraph reported on the news quickly after the exchange announced the attack, which compromised digital assets including BTC, Tron (TRX), Ripple (XRP) and Ether.
The exchange explained that only its hot wallets were affected and added that its assets were being moved into cold storage for security purposes.
The platform has since provided an update and revealed the hack totaled $91.35 million. The firm has urged users to not deposit any crypto assets in Liquid wallets until further notice.
T-Mobile looking into potential hack of data on 100 million customers
Speaking of hacks, U.S. telecom giant T-Mobile was looking into an alleged massive data breach at the start of this week that may have compromised the information of more than 100 million users.
According to Vice’s Motherboard, T-Mobile is looking into a potential data breach claimed by an author who posted details on an underground forum. A Sunday report said the hacker claims to have obtained data on more than 100 million customers from T-Mobile servers.
Unlike the Poly Network hacker, who syphoned $600 million worth of digital assets because “cross-chain hacking is hot,” the T-Mobile hacker seems to be displaying entrepreneurial instincts, as they were asking for 6 BTC —  worth around $280,000 at current prices —  in exchange for some of the data.

ive talked abt this before but how fucking inspiring is flint’s s3+4 arc? s1+2 is a descent for him even at the end of s1 he’s showing suicidal tendencies (he gave up and silver had to drag him ashore) but for the whole first two seasons he’s tortured he’s cruel he doesn’t care about what damage what suffering and pain he has to inflict to get where he wants to be. ideologically even he hasn’t developed yet like in the pilot he tells billy that he intends to be a pirate king in the oncoming war. miranda’s death really just brings him down to rock bottom and we see him destroy charles town regardless of the innocents who live there. it’s a low point for him both personally and ideologically s3 opens and we see him at his absolute lowest point burning down cities and killing for no reason. he brings his men into a tempest and then into the doldrums and it’s explicitly stated that this is a reflection of his frame of mind at the time.
what brings him out of that? the solidification of his alliance with silver (the wind picks up the moment that they work together and save the crew). but crucially, that isn’t the ONE THING that brings him out of it. where does the wind take them, once they escape the doldrums? to madi’s island. and THAT is where he truly begins to come out of the depression thats been controlling him for months. he sees that a peaceful and loving community can exist in opposition to the empire, and that’s what gives him hope that the war can actually be won, that there is Something after violence and destruction and death, that peace and victory is possible after the war. and with that, with his emotional development, his ideology starts to develop too into something more compassionate and community oriented.
he genuinely respects madi and the maroons as equals in this fight! he understands that this community is literally what they are fighting for and that a victory like that against england doesn’t just require blood and violence (although it does require it) but it also requires respect and compassion! it’s so striking to me how much he prioritizes the maroons even though it would be so easy not to, how multiple times in season 4 he expresses genuine compassion for the men (once after the spanish raid, where he says get everyone to the beach, if they’re too injured to walk then you carry them, and once at skeleton island, where he’s doing his honest best to drag the men out of the water away from the guns, shouting at them to take my hand), how he goes from killing his best friend of 10 years over some money and positing himself as king of the new world to being completely ready to give up power to madi and silver (they’ll need you to lead them through it, she’s the best of them, you’re the best of us) and saying one of the most crucial and underrated lines in the whole show: i cannot believe we are so poorly made as that, incapable of surviving in the state in which we are born, grown so used to the yoke that there can be no progress without it.
Flint’s s3+4 arc is about recovering from a debilitating grief and depression, and it’s also about rediscovering a faith in humanity, a faith that we are not so poorly made as that! that we are capable of loving and peaceful communities outside of the empire’s rule! and part of that is because of silver’s support but that could only have brought him part of the way out of his depression. So much of it is because of the alliance he builds w the maroons, the solidarity he starts to champion, his friendship and ideological relationship with madi! and in this way the s4 flint is VERY different from s1 flint (even tho s1 flint is undeniably sexier) he is more compassionate he is more patient he is more trusting he has more faith in humanity and most importantly he is NO LONGER caught up in a reckless and grieving rage for thomas and miranda and he is able to move forward and find new love in silver and madi!
(interesting to note tho despite a new compassion that he shows he also shows just as much pragmatism as he always did. he kills the men when they get in his way but he also doesn’t go out of his way to kill them like he used to. consider: he could have killed hands multiple times, and never did. he could have killed billy multiple times, and never did. he never insisted on killing max, even tho he could have and who the fuck was going to stop him? rackham’s bitch ass? so he kills the men that refuse to get out of his way in the moment, like the men silver sent after him in the endgame, and he allows blood to be shed when it needs to be to serve the war, but he genuinely is not quite as violent as he was in s1, where he killed singleton and gates and that other mf under the boat because they were slight inconveniences to him, and the end of s2, when he slaughtered an entire city of people over miranda’s corpse. i think that’s an interesting thing to note because it shows that it’s not that he can’t stomach the idea of killing needlessly anymore, he’s just as capable of shedding blood as he always has been, but when he doesn’t kill its bc he’s CHOOSING not to kill, because pointless bloodshed does not align w the ideology that he’s decided to fight for anymore.)

In depth fandom ask: the last fandom you joined bc I can't remember it now
Well, I guess the last fandom I’ve properly joined --making a few edits, starting yet-another-WIP etc.-- is Black Sails, so. Plus I want to talk about it a little, spoiler-free, in case you decide to watch it ^-^ (I’ll leave that to the s3 post I need to finish...).
Top 5 favourite characters: Max is my number one, without a doubt, and of the rest of my faves Silver has an edge... but the remaining positions are a tough fight between Flint, Jack, Madi and Miranda, and I honestly can’t choose DD:
Other characters you like: Mr. Scott, Anne, Idelle, the Maroon Queen, Billy, Eme, Abigail... This show has a lot of great characters tbh.
Least favourite characters: I still loathe Peter Ashe with every fiber of my being. Alfred Hamilton is obviously The Worst(TM). And though it hasn’t grown into hate (yet), I don’t like Woodes Rogers one bit ¬¬
Otps: Flint/Miranda, and the combos in Flint/Madi/Silver and Anne/Jack/Max (in no particular order at the moment because I just HAVE TONS OF FEELS ABOUT THEM ALL).
Notps: I don’t have strong NOPE feelings towards anything, but I’m not into Eleanor/Max (which is a dynamic I actually really like BUT that I’m glad it doesn’t return to shippiness LOL); Eleanor/Rogers (I might be indifferent towards Eleanor most of the time but I haaaaaate Rogers for her. RUN GIRL), Flint/Vane (booooooooring).
Favourite friendships: Max & Silver (THE duo I swear), Jack & Max, Flint & Silver, Idelle & Max (I might not have said so before but I guess I like a little conflict LMFAO), Billy & Flint (NOT a friendship, but their relationship absolutely cracks me up I swear. “Who’s Billy?” XDDD).
Favourite family: Madi’s family, which is all I can say without getting spoilery. I just. *lies down on the floor overcome with emotions* xDD
Favourite episodes: the problem with binge-watching (okay, I’ve taken s3 more slowly but) is that they all kinda blur together LOL. Hmm. The season finales are all *chefs kiss* so far (sometimes in a very painful way... I’m looking at you s2. Though the ominous Flint/Silver moments in the s3 were A LOT too); any in which I get to see Max & Silver scheming together ofc. And the first handful of eps in s3 were particularly enjoyable to me because I was drowning in PURE ANGST and Flint & Silver feels xDD (I can’t NOT believe the fandom seems to call one of those “the shark date” asñldfjasdfñl).
Favourite season/book/movie: oof. I honestly can’t pick; s1 is probably the “least” because the others include better moments for some of my secondary faves, and because there’s a plot that’s really hard to watch... BUT it has things on it I adore to pieces too. s1-2 doesn’t have Madi (major drawback xD), and s3 is after one of my faves’ death... but frankly they’re all neck and neck so far.
Favourite quotes: “I am ruined over you” always comes to mind DD: “Liked is just as good as feared”; Max combo with Eleanor about sand (typing that down made me think of Anidala LMFAO. The scene itself is very different though! xD) in the s1 finale; “in another time, in another place, they would call me a queen”; “this ends when I grant them my forgiveness, not the other way around”, Mr. Scott’s “No. Only YOU.”... honestly, this show’s dialogue is just too good(TM), I could just quote it all back xD. And of course, I HAVE to mention “WHO’S BILLY”. It’s the law.
Best musical moment: the score is perfection all around, but given that I never skip the intro just to listen and watch it... yeah, the intro xD
Moment that made you fangirl/boy the hardest: well, I *might* have lost it the moment CAPTAIN FLINT COMES OUT TO LONG JOHN SILVER OVER A BONFIRE, IDK XDD
When it really disappointed you: the fact that I won’t get to see a fully fleshed out Mr. Scott-Silver dynamic is MAJORLY disappointing, let me tell you. That Flint’s actor didn’t somehow get his mother (aka Maggie Smith aka Professor McGonagall aka Lady Violet) on the show too ¬¬. LOL.
Saddest moment: character’s deaths of two of the characters listed on “top 5”/“others you like” xD.
Most well done character death: the hanging in 3x09 was well done and served its purpose.
Favourite guest star: for a value of “guest star”... I’m going with Idelle.
Favourite cast member: Jessica Parker Kennedy is the one that I know and love for other projects she’s done.
Character you wish was still alive: THE ONE WE TRAGICALLY LOST IN 2x09.
One thing you hope really happens: I’m cheating because I know there’s some of that in s4, but I want to watch more Flint/Madi interactions pls.
Most shocking twist: well, I wasn’t spoiled for Mr. Scott’s plot in s3 so I was (pleasantly) surprised by that xD
When did you start watching/reading?: a little over two weeks ago; I watched (devoured) s1-s2 and 3x01-3x04 in a few days because I wanted to meet Madi, and then I tragically had to slow down :(((
Best animal/creature: I will always love Treasure Islands’  parrot that Silver named after Flint LMFAO.
Favourite location: Nassau aka Max’s ~domain xD. And Miranda’s house.
Trope you wish they would stop using: noooooone. I love the tropes this show reuses LMFAO. Romantic Betrayals(TM), triumvirates, “good things happen in the dark/away from civilization”, the power of narratives, social climbing and revolt... bring them oooooon.
One thing this show/book/film does better than others: quite a few xD. But one that really stands out to me is the dialogue; both the ~deep and sorrowful type (there were so many quotes where I had to take a break to freak out properly lol), and the humorous ones.
Funniest moments: I know I’m repeating myself, but I recently rewatched the pilot to edit some scenes and I keep remember the WHO’S BILLY one xDD (which I maintain it was Flint trolling him. He could give Abigail a rundown of Billy’s whole life story AND he shamelessly checked him out that one time. Flint knows who Billy is, he’s just an asshole xD). Really, all the scenes between Billy and Flint in that episode are comedic gold lmfao. Billy’s “oh dear I fucked up” expression when he tells Flint the crew has started to think him weak and Flint looks half a second away from murdering him right there, his WTF face at Flint’s antics with the stolen page... Gold, seriously.
Couple you would like to see: I meannnnnn. I would’ve been very happy if the show had decided to go with Flint/Madi/Silver, for one. Bonus if Miranda could’ve been included. Or just explicit Flint/Silver in poly arrangements (THEY ARE IN LOVE, IT’S JUST ~COMPLICATED XD).
Actor/Actress you want to join the cast: MAGGIE SMITH DAMMIT.
Favourite outfit: literally everything Max wears in s3. Eleanor’s s1-s2 outfits were things I’d love to wear too. Flint’s ~dramatic coat. Miranda’s collection of supposedly-puritan-but-showing-the-goods dresses xDD (and ofc her London clothes), Jack’s clothes (he’s Nassau’s fashion icon lbr).
Favourite item: the books!! Especially when Flint gave Miranda “La Galatea” as a gift (given that sometimes he reminds me of my OC Latoya, you might understand the freakout I had when he gave the other member of my OTP a book titled like that xDD).
Do you own anything related to this show/book/film?: no, but I kinda want to. I did have a Treasure Planet computer game I tragically can’t find... it was about collecting money in increasingly difficult scenarios LOL. And I probably have more pirate-y/Treasure Island theme stuff. I had a long pirate phase xD
What house/team/group/friendship group/family/race etc would you be in?: Max’s because I like being on the winning team, thanks xD (though I do ~align more with Flint and Madi’s lbr...).
Most boring plotline: Eleanor and Vane’s ~romance is not at all badly written... but the fact that I find both of them boring kinda ruins the whole thing because I always wish that time went to someone else xD. Also, Blackbeard. Meh.
Most laughably bad moment: n/a.
Best flashback/flashfoward if any: the London flashback where Miranda goes to Flint’s house unannounced to take him to an art gallery, she finds him half-naked and he gets all awkward about it lmao. And then they hook up in the carriage :DDD
Most layered character: we get to explore Flint and Silver the most. Silver’s development in particular is something that never ceases to impress me ngl.
Most one dimensional character: except the one-note characters I wouldn’t really call anyone completely one-dimensional, tbh. Though I do think the fandom attributes more complexity to Thomas than it’s seen in canon? Like, I like what I see; I think he’s functional, he works well, and he adds wonderfully to Flint’s (and Miranda’s) story, but I don’t see him as a full character in his own right. Which is perfectly fine for the narrative so far, but I fear it might fall apart for me at the very end.
Scariest moment: I never know what to say in this... I mean, I guess Flint killing a man with his bare hands in the pilot Like That was scary xD. I understand why Silver freaked out LOL.
Grossest moment: any of Max’s interactions with Vane tbh. Stay away from her ¬¬
Best looking male: Flint has that ruggedly handsome thing going on for him, if you’re into that (and sometimes I do appreciate his ~aesthetics... very sad he shaved his head in s3 though. Like, I get you did it for the Angst, honey, and trust me, I Feel U, but still). I feel like I might be forgetting someone, but seriously, none of the dudes in this show so far do anything for me LOL. I can honestly say I love them for their personalities xDD
Best looking female: I have a weakness for Max, but Miranda, Madi, Anne, the Maroon Queen, Idelle, Eme... all of them are gorgeous in their own way. This show is good for sapphic women’s enjoyment in that sense xDD.
Who you’re crushing on (if any): I could crush on any of the women mentioned above tbh.
Favourite cast moment: I have literally only seen this post about an interview where Flint’s actor says he’s too old to party with The Youth of the cast and just wants to chill on the weekend... with bonus Max and Eleanor’s actress talking about how Vane’s once climbed the side of a building up AND back down. I’m with you, Toby Stephens, you don’t need those shenanigans xDD
Favourite transportation: the Walrus, for sentimental reasons LOL. I liked stolen Spanish warship too.
Most beautiful scene (scenery/shot wise): lots of good ones, though I think my fave might be the one of Miranda sitting by the window in London. Or the one of Charles Town burning down, I liked that :))) (I remember thinking “Flint better go full Daenerys on them”. And he did! It was nice xD).
Unanswered question/continuity issue/plot error that bugs you: n/a, so far.
Best promo: n/a.
At what point did you fall in love with this show/book: I liked it from the word go, but the moment that TRULY cemented it for me was in 1x03, with Max making a decision that I... frankly didn’t expect. It made things worse for her in the short-term, the storyline itself was difficult and disturbing to watch and I still have some mixed feelings about it. But what it said about her as a character and how her journey goes after that... I was in awe of her, and of the show.

Kill the Lights // Chapter 14
Steve Harrington x Original Female Character
Read chapter 13 here!
Summary: After Violet- formally 003, a telekinetic, electrokinetic, and clairvoyant 19 year old- loses her first family, her first love, nothing is the same. She finds herself taken in by Hopper and El, struggling to find her footing and meaning to keep fighting. The Party, especially Steve Harrington, try to show her where her strengths have been hiding all along, and that no one has to fight their battles alone. Sometimes you don’t need to be rescued, but someone’s love and support while you rescue yourself sure doesn’t hurt.
Word count: 3,382
Content warnings: some season 3 spoilers, violence, PTSD, anxiety, dissociation, death, whole lotta angst, sexual themes~*~* (if you squint really lmao)
Author’s note: second to last chapter, y’all!! Next one is the end, and I’m sad to wrap this all up, but excited to finish a fic for the first time in a loooooooooong time. Drunk me finished writing this last night, sober me had to edit some typos that slipped in as well as uhh? some explicit~~~ things. Drunk me and sober me wanted two different outcomes for Violet, I guess. lol. The first half of this was written/inspired by ‘my blood’ by twenty one pilots. The second half was written while listening to a bunch of Lana del Rey songs (specifically Fuck it I love you) lmfao. Huge huge huuuuuuge thank you to anyone who has stuck with this story and also to anyone just recently catching up. Your kind words, reblogs, and likes are always so dearly appreciated!!
Chapter 14: My Blood | Fuck it I love you
The battle happened so quickly, Violet was sure she would have missed the rest of the night if she blinked for a second too long. Everything happened in such a sickening and dizzying blur.
Joyce, Hopper and Murray set out for the base far underground, leaving all the kids behind to fend for themselves. At one point, they split into two groups, and there was absolutely no way Violet was leaving El’s side, even if it meant her and Steve would be split up. She loved him dearly, but El was her immediate family now, and to Violet, family was everything.
When that monster- that thing- that had taken the flayed to use as a vessel of destruction as the Mind Flayer itself, Violet felt fear in every inch of her body. She didn’t dare let it show, though, and channeled her fear into just enough energy here and there to use as defense, but even that seemed useless against the monster.
Escaping from the Mind Flayer safely failed, getting away from Billy- who wasn’t really himself- failed, keeping the kids safe completely began to fail, slipping through Violet’s fingers. Everything was failing, failing, failing at every opportunity they tried to take to gain advantage in this fight. Even Dustin delivering precious information to the adults underground was barely a success, and had Violet on edge. So much was falling apart and failing, and she had no control over fixing any of it.
Whether from sleep deprivation or dissociation, time seemed to have jumped, and she felt like she wasn’t fully tuned in to her surroundings until fireworks started going off within the mall. The explosions shook her back into reality, vision sharpening just enough to the scene unfolding in front of her.
Violet watched in a daze as her friends shot off the fireworks from all angles in the second floor above, aiming them towards the monster. Her daze broke as her eyes landed on El, wearing her bravest face again, as she tried to talk Billy down from the dark hold the Mind Flayer had over him. Fear grew in Violet, like a sickly, sour ache in her stomach, and spread across her body in chills. This wasn’t right. Nothing was going right.
Kicking herself into high gear, Violet began speeding up the fireworks process, using the little energy she had to help light them up with sparks forming at her fingertips. The explosives whizzed and zoomed through the air, but it still wasn’t amounting to enough distraction or damage to help.
Time slowed again, time slowed and Violet knew when time slowed, she was hurting, and time really meant nothing when she suffered.
A flashback appeared in her eyes, just for a quick second, and her heart softened as she saw Amy’s sweet smile.
Violet watched as she echoed the same damn, cliche string of words she had clung onto the entire time they knew each other, the entire time Violet was barely hanging on after losing her, and the entire time while healing, while growing forward-
“All good things come to an end to make room for new beginnings, Vi.”
And just as fast as it came, the flashback dissolved, flinging her back into the present. It hit her like a ton of bricks, but she knew this was all she could do, all she could provide in a time like this. For once in her life, she felt so certain in her purpose of existing, and she would do whatever it takes to do right by that. She had no idea how this could all end up, but she couldn’t waste time on the sidelines.
Violet ran over to Steve, who was still launching fireworks into the air, pulling his attention away from the battle as her hands grabbed his face. Tears were on the verge of breaking as she kissed him quickly, but with all of the love her heart could give. Steve was caught off guard, bewildered at Violet’s actions during a time like this.
Violet pulled back with a small, sad smile appearing. Her fingers gently grazed over his cheek, trying to memorize how he felt, just in case. “Don’t be mad at me, okay?”
“Vi- what- wait- what are you doing?”
Violet pushed herself away from Steve, still stunned by how quickly everything was happening around him, and with a running start, launched herself up and over the railing of the second floor. Fireworks exploded in grand, vibrant colors above her, time slowing down again.
“Violet!” Steve yelled after her, watching his girlfriend fall, fall, fall among the chaos around them, anticipating a painful impact.
Violet felt the fall, felt her body’s usual reaction to fight gravity, of plucking itself up and back to safety, but fought against it, levitating for just a moment, before safely landing on her feet. Sounds around her melted away to a distant ringing in her ears, and her vision tunneled in on the one and only thing that mattered in that moment- protecting her sister.
In a flash, Violet slid in front of El, back facing the monster, using any energy she could find to create an entire shield, a wall of electricity, between El and the Mind Flayer. Sparks of blue, silver, white all flashed together to form defense against the worst. Violet screamed as pain rolled through her body, pushing herself beyond her limits. Blood began gushing from her nose, peeking out of her ears; her body was running on pure adrenaline.
Simultaneously, Billy jumped in the way, too, taking the blow of the Mind Flayer away from El first, body instantly being ripped open where the monster hit him.
Violet looked over her shoulder at him in horror, screaming louder, watching Billy take the full damage. In a split second, he made the choice to jump in front, saving El. Violet felt sick, but she couldn’t look away. The shield she created fell away, and she fell to the floor, the first sound registering to her ears being Max’s screams over her stepbrother’s lifeless body. Among it all, she sensed something leave, someone leave. Someone left. Someone was gone, and it wasn’t just Billy.
Not even thinking, Violet leaned over Billy, hands outstretched, trying to heal any part of him she could. Anything, something, there had to be life somewhere within him, still. She couldn’t block out the sobs that left Max, the cries from her own sister, and the looming feeling that the worst still wasn’t over yet.
“Fuck! Come on!” She angrily spat through her gritted teeth. Her arms were outstretched for a little longer before she realized how useless her efforts were. Just like that, she went from feeling like she and her powers finally had a purpose in this world, to feeling completely, utterly useless.
Falling silent in shock, she stumbled back onto the floor, cowering into a corner away from Billy’s body, away from the kids. Even in trying to save El, it was useless, because Billy sacrificed himself. She couldn’t even heal him, bring him back to life. She knew he was long, long gone.
Steve rushed over to Violet, wrapping her up completely in his embrace, trying to soothe her as sobs fell from her own mouth.
“You’re okay, you’re okay, baby.” He whispered, trying his best to keep himself together for her.
His comforting words sounded muffled, though. Distant.
In a blur, he helped her outside, where ambulances waited for anyone in need. He tried grounding her like usual, but she didn’t respond. Asking her what she saw. Violet didn’t want to respond. She was far away in her thoughts, and didn’t want to come back.
While sitting in the back of an ambulance, El sat close to Violet, holding her hand, eyes frantically searching for any sign of their dad. It wasn’t until El jumped to her feet at the sign of Joyce, far across the lot, that Violet began to come back into focus again. She got up next to her sister, following El as she walked closer to Joyce, who was now hugging Will tightly.
Joyce was alone. El’s eyes darted all around, nowhere for Hopper to be found. Her eyes spotted Murray, still no sign of her dad, though. It hit slowly, but all at once- Joyce was alone, clutching onto her youngest son, and crying.
The look Joyce gave the girls said more than enough, and Violet felt the last bit of foundation crumble to dust in her life. Sobs ripped through El, and Violet embraced her in a hug, watching the world around her continue to go on with empty eyes. She couldn’t cry, couldn’t scream, everything was gone. In just a few days time, she realized how lucky she had it, and how quickly she lost it all.
An avalanche of thoughts came rushing into her. If she just was more careful with her powers, she wouldn’t have gotten caught. She wouldn’t have been taken and forced against her will to be a part of a scheme so much greater than she ever imagined. She wouldn’t have put her loved ones in danger, wouldn’t have failed saving them. Hopper wouldn’t be missing from the picture. He’d be rushing towards them, embracing them in one of his world famous bear hugs-
“Vi, baby, I need you to breathe.”
Violet’s gaze trailed over to Steve, who stepped in closer to the girls, holding back his own grief. Her vision was fuzzy, hazy, and it took her a bit to notice she was hyperventilating as El still clutched onto her, shaking as well.
How do you go from being on top of the world, to being crushed under its own heavy, heart wrenching weight, in just a few days? How do you cope? How do you live past losing found family being taken from you again?
“I- he- Hopper-“ Violet couldn’t get much out as her thoughts raced in twenty different directions at once. Steve just nodded, understanding how awful she must be feeling, and pulled her into a hug while El still cried on Violet as well.
Violet had worked so damn hard on healing, so damn hard on growing and moving on, just for family to be ripped from her once again. The rage she felt towards Dr. Brenner was nothing now compared to the wrath she wanted to unleash on those involved in the hell below Starcourt.
As she held El and Steve close to her, Violet watched the flames rip through the roof of Starcourt. She felt silly for even having heartache while watching the mall collapse into its own descent to hell. Starcourt was just a mall, and one with darker intentions than what once lay on the surface, but it was a taste of a real, normal life, for her. Violet cherished how normal her life was beginning to feel as she was working her boring retail job, spending days off with her partner and the kids, saving money slowly.
Now? Well, now, that just all felt like a distant dream. A cruel joke. What a fool she was for thinking she could have a normal, easy life, from here on out. Nothing comes easy, nothing comes pain free. Violet just assumed that she paid her debts in pain already, and tonight proved her wrong.
———
On the night of the 4th of July, Hawkins was blanketed in a humidity that Violet once came to love and appreciate in the summer. Tonight, though, it hung heavy, suffocating her. Everything felt so heavy, weighing her down, telling her to give up, maybe lash out, destroy everything, isolate completely- nothing felt concrete enough, but she sure still felt it all at once.
Violet couldn’t remember the ride to Steve’s house. He had lost his keys in the underground base, so they must have taken her bike- Steve must have drove her bike- something that would have highly impressed her any other day, but now, she just felt numb.
El told Violet how the cabin had been destroyed before the last battle at Starcourt. Most of their belongings, their home, was torn to shreds. Violet told her they could go back soon to pick through the damage for what they could salvage, but for now, they needed to rest. So, everyone kind of just made their way over to Steve’s house. The kids, Joyce, even Johnathan and Nancy, even Mrs. Wheeler- everyone affected in one way or another, ended up pulling into the driveway and filing into the usually empty Harrington household.
One by one, they all took turns showering in the multiple bathrooms, making up places to sleep for the night on couches, chairs, the floor, guest beds, anywhere they felt comfortable. One thing was for sure, nobody wanted to be alone tonight. Nobody should be alone in a time like this.
Steve helped everyone grab towels, blankets, food, water, whatever was necessary to feel more human and less like a lost soul among what just happened. Violet sat on the stairs, watching life pass her by, watching her partner help the kids, comfort them as best as he could when and where he could. Making sure they all knew it was safe now, they were safe. Violet still felt numb, still felt so far away.
“C’mon, Vi. You probably should wash up too, it’ll help you sleep better.” Steve said, weariness obvious in his voice. Violet finally glanced up, finally addressed what was happening in the present moment. Her heart broke at the sight of how worn he looked, finally feeling something, breaking from the hold the numbness had over her.
Violet took his hand silently, and let him lead her up the stairs. They walked into the bathroom closest to his room, and Steve gently closed the door behind him. As he flicked the lights on, Violet squinted at the brightness, and her eyes fell upon her own image in the mirror, face flipping into a frown. The bags under her eyes lasted for days, and her eyes were sunken in. Among the needles leaving entry points she couldn’t heal on her own, bruises littered her skin, and she was sickly pale. She looked like she had not only seen ghosts, but had fought with them too.
“Is it okay if I help?” Steve whispered, trying to keep things as calm as possible for Violet. Her empty stare led up to his eyes, and she slowly nodded. Steve began slowly pulling layers of clothing gently from her body, making sure to not bump into any wounds along the way. Violet looked down, realizing they had never really seen each other nude before. Sure, when things got hot and heavy, they had fooled around with each other, and had lost some clothing along the way, but never completely. Violet had never let him see her completely vulnerable, especially uncovering where she hid some of her worst scars.
“Are you okay? I can stop if you want.” Steve suggested, looking only in Violet’s eyes. “I don’t want to make you uncomfortable, just figured you might be too sore to move much.”
Violet met his gaze again, nodding silently once more. Steve waited a second before continuing to help, not letting his eyes wander her body.
When Violet was down to her underwear, Steve turned the shower on, and turned around to give her privacy. “I’m gonna- uh- wait until you get in safely, and then I’ll be right outside, okay?”
Violet nodded before realizing he couldn’t see, then croaked out an “okay”. She slowly removed her bra and underwear, throwing them into the pile of her other dirty, blood spattered clothes. She stepped into the shower, carefully so not to slip, and when she pulled the curtain shut, she softly spoke out, “I’m good.”
“Okay, like I said, if you need, I’ll be right outside, okay? Don’t be afraid to yell for me, okay, Vi?” Steve reminded her again. Violet felt her body stiffen up as he opened the door.
“Wait.” She spoke out, voice shaky but certain. She could hear Steve pause, then close the door again gently.
“What’s up?”
Violet let some time pass, building up the courage to use her voice once more.
“Stay. Don’t leave me.” She demanded, voice sounding much more soft than it should. She could hear Steve hold his breath, contemplating what she just said.
“Okay, I’ll be right here, I’ll wait right in here-“
“No,” Violet stopped him, surprised by her boldness. Maybe she was still feeling numb enough to not care about being so shy in this state. “I need you.”
Violet rested her back against the shower wall, letting the water hit her sideways, already doubting if it was alright for her to ask. While lost among her thoughts, she couldn’t hear Steve changing out of his clothes, and carefully stepping into the shower next to her. He refused to look anywhere directly at her, until she gave a clear signal.
Eyes opening slowly, Violet felt a blush creep across not only her face, but most of her body, as she saw Steve in front of her. Contagiously, it spread to his face quickly, rising under the wounds on his face.
“Steve, look at me.”
Steve slowly looked up at Violet, worried to do or say something to mess this all up.
“Life is too fucking short, and too scary, and I- I-“ Violet began mumbling, holding back her emotions as best she could. Of course, with how worn she was after the last few days, it didn’t take long for the tears to break. “- I almost lost you. I could’ve- You could have died-“
“I didn’t, Violet, I’m still here-“
“Yeah, by some lucky, odd chance!” Her voice raised a little, desperate to get her point across, and she shook her head immediately at how she sounded. She felt foolish for doubting that he didn’t understand. Of course he did. “I’m so grateful we’re both still here.”
“Me too, Vi.” Steve said, carefully stepping closer to her, only by mere inches. When she didn’t show any doubt or fear, his hand came up to gently push her chin up, making her look up at him. Violet gave him a look so strong and certain, it sent shivers up his spine. What once terrified Violet, any touch, any human contact, she craved in this moment, grieving over how quickly anyone could be taken away. How cruel Father Time could remind anyone that seconds spent with those you love are never, ever owed to you.
“I-“ Violet choked down a sob before continuing. Her eyes flickered between his eyes and lips. “I’m not wasting anymore time in this life, you hear me?”
“Loud and clear, Violet. Crystal clear.” He whispered, pushing his forehead towards hers as water ran over them both.
“Is it selfish if I want you right now?” Violet whispered back, shutting her eyes. “The timing is horrible, but I just can’t keep wasting time. I want as much of this life with you as time will give us.”
“Maybe it is selfish, but I think you deserve to give yourself what you want after what you’ve been through-“
Violet didn’t need anything more, and pushed her lips forward onto his. Steve immediately reacted, pushing his body closer to hers. The skin to skin contact was a brand new sensation to Violet, never being this intimate with him before. She broke away, wanting more, more, more.
“Please, Steve-“
“I got you, Vi, I got you.” He reassured, hands gently roaming her body. Violet began to feel the numbness fall away as she accepted new feelings, foreign and unusual, as her and Steve experienced something new together. Violet let go of control as their bodies tangled within one another, heart ready to burst as she felt him whisper “I love you” over, and over, and over again between kisses across her skin.
The timing wasn’t the best, but she couldn’t be alone right now. She longed for connection with the boy she fell in love with, just wanting to escape the heartache she felt, wanting to be reminded that she wasn’t alone, she was safe, she was loved, and she would continue to be loved.
Loved, loved, loved.

Wheel of Time Amazon TV Series: Everything You Need to Know
https://ift.tt/30p6YSh
The Wheel of Time, the sprawling fantasy novel mythology by Robert Jordan, is heading to Amazon Prime as a series.

One of the most popular fantasy franchises of the literary world, The Wheel of Time, is getting a live-action television adaptation. Originally authored by Robert Jordan, the 80 million-selling 1990-2013 book series depicts a sprawling mythology, amalgamating feudal and magical tropes with elements of Eastern mysticism. Indeed, the books bear philosophical influences from European and Asian culture, notably Buddhism and Hinduism, centered on the idea of time being cyclical in nature.
Amazon gave a series order to The Wheel of Time back in October 2018, setting the project as an hour-long series that will stream on Amazon Prime Video, as reported by Deadline and confirmed by an APV retweet. The move was the culmination of what had been a year-and-a-half process, going back to April 2017, when it was first reported that Sony Pictures Television was moving forward with the TV project.
The Wheel of Time Cast
Amazon continues to fill out the cast of its upcoming Wheel of Time series. This round of casting features four relatively new faces (at least to American audiences). Veteran Spanish actor Alvaro Morte will play Logain Ablar of the Black Tower. Hammed Animashaun (Black Mirror) will play Loial, an Ogier from Shangtai. Alexandre Willaume will be Thom Merrilin, a former bard. Johann Myers will portray the darkfiend Padan Fain.
Amazon recently released this footage featuring The Wheel of Time cast in a table read of the script, which also reveals the presence of Naana Agyei-Ampadu (GameFace), whose role is unknown at this time.
On September 10th, the cast and crew of #WOTonPrime got together to read the first episode of The Wheel Of Time. Production is now on its way and we are VERY excited to see this show come to life! #TwitterOfTime, this is for you. pic.twitter.com/FmWA4zeh2r

As for the rest of the cast...
Tumblr media
Daniel Henney was recently added to The Wheel of Time cast. He will play al’Lan Mandragoran, a.k.a. Lan, the stoic warder (essentially a protector,) of Moraine (Rosamund Pike). However, Lan happens to be the lone survivor of a royal bloodline, and is the uncrowned king of Malkier, a province that was overrun by forces of the Shadow. Henney's announced casting as Lan was accompanied by the following quote: "I swear to stand against the Shadow so long as iron is hard and stone abides - to defend the Malkieri while one drop of blood remains. I swear to avenge what cannot be defended."
Henney, an American actor, can be currently seen on CBS’s Criminal Minds, which he joined in 2015’s Season 10, and is also known as the voice of Tadashi in 2014 feature Big Hero 6 and its current animated series. Besides TV runs on Revolution, Hawaii Five-0 and Three Rivers, he appeared in the 2009 Fox-Marvel solo spinoff movie, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, as Agent Zero, the character known in the comic book mythology as assassin Maverick.
The series recently revealed a quintet of main cast members. The show’s official social media also provides pertinent quoted descriptions for each of the characters, culminating with the message, "It was about them all." The cast members consist of the following (pictured directly below from the left):
Tumblr media
Madeleine Madden (Picnic at Hanging Rock, Tidelands) as Egwene Al’Vere. – “It was about a woman who would not bend her back while she was beaten, and who shown with a light for all who watched.”
Josha Stradowski (Instinct, Spangas) as Rand Al’Thor. – “It was not about me. It’s never been about me.”
Marcus Rutherford (Obey, Shakespeare & Hathaway) as Perrin Aybara. – “It was about a man whose family was taken from him, but who stood tall in his sorrow and protected those he could.”
Zoë Robins (Power Rangers Ninja Steel, The Shannara Chronicles) as Nynaeve. – “It was about a woman who refused to believe that she could not help, could not heal those who had been harmed.”
Barney Harris (Clique, Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk) as Mat Cauthon. – “It was about a hero who insisted with every breath that he was anything but a hero.”
They will, of course, join the show’s June-announced headliner...
Tumblr media
Rosamund Pike officially landed the lead role in The Wheel of Time as Moiraine. A member of an all-female secret society of magic users, called the Blue Ajah of the Aes Sedai, Moiraine embarks on a dangerous journey with five young people she comes to mentor, one of whom she believes could be the reincarnation of someone prophesized to either save or destroy humanity.
Pike, an Oscar-nominated actress for her role as Amy Dunne in 2014’s Gone Girl, is also known from 2005’s Pride & Prejudice and as a Bond villainess in 2002’s Die Another Day. She recently fielded a small screen starring run on SundanceTV comedy State of the Union, and appeared in films such as A Private War, 7 Days in Entebbe, Beirut, Hostiles and The Man with the Iron Heart. She’ll next be seen in the August-scheduled crime drama, The Informer, and, amongst other projects, will co-star as Marie Curie in the fact-based 2020 romance drama, Radioactive.
The Wheel of Time Director
Uta Briesewitz is set to direct the first two episodes of The Wheel of Time, reports Deadline. This should be great news for genre fans, seeing as the German director and cinematographer, Brieswitz, brings small screen experience from directorial runs on shows like Netflix’s Stranger Things (in the recent Season 3), HBO’s The Deuce and Westworld, AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead, Starz’s Black Sails and Netflix-Marvel shows such as (the just cancelled) Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and The Defenders, as well as streaming giant offerings Orange is the New Black and the returning Altered Carbon. Plus, she’s fielded runs on Fox’s Lethal Weapon and The CW shows The 100 and Jane the Virgin. Indeed, with a peak television CV like that, The Wheel of Time should be in good hands for its launch.
The Wheel of Time series buck stops with Rafe Judkins, who assumes duties as writer, executive producer and showrunner. Judkins is no stranger to genre television, serving as a producer and writer on ABC’s Marvel series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Netflix horror series, Hemlock Grove. He was also a story editor for NBC’s beloved geek-wish-fulfillment spy series, Chuck. Judkins will be joined by executive producers Rick Selvage and Larry Mondragon of Red Eagle and producers Ted Field and Mike Weber of Radar Pictures. Additionally, the property’s authorial legacy is in place with Jordan’s widow, Harriet McDougal, onboard as a consulting producer.
As Sharon Tal Yguado, Head of Event Series, Amazon Originals states:
“Developing and producing Robert Jordan’s beloved fourteen-books-series for TV is a big undertaking, and we don’t take it lightly. We believe that Rafe’s personal connection to the material and soulful writing will resonate with the book’s passionate fans.”
The Wheel of Time Release Date
The Wheel of Time has yet to announce a release date. However, a production timeframe was recently spotted in trade magazine Production Weekly, via fan site The Daily Trolloc. The excerpt claims that the series is set to begin rolling cameras in Prague, Czech Republic sometime in September 2019.
The Wheel of Time Details
The Wheel of Time TV series is moving along swiftly, with production having started on September 16, a bittersweet date, since it also marked the 12-year anniversary of author Robert Jordan's passing.

— The Wheel of Time on Prime (@WoTonPrime) September 16, 2019
Of course, The Wheel of Time is a large-scale endeavor, since the novels of Robert Jordan (nom de plume of James O. Rigney Jr.), three of which were completed by Brandon Sanderson after Jordan passed away in 2007, build an intricate mythology governed by the titular seven-spoke Wheel of Time powered by an incorporeal celestial source of power. Like the Force in Star Wars, it is a binary power utilized by gifted people, here called “channelers.” The story is spread across epochs in the continuing battle against Shai’tan (or, the Dark One,) who, upon breaking free of imprisonment from the Creator, exerts influence on the malleable to lead the source toward evil.
Amazon's series order for The Wheel of Time arrives after several years of starts and stops, going back to 2000 when author Jordan was still alive. A pilot called Winter Dragon, starring Billy Zane and Max Ryan, aired on FXX on February 8, 2015 (at 1:30 a.m.) to no fanfare or fruition (it was essentially a move by Red Eagle to prevent the rights from expiring). However, McDougal herself made media ripples in April 2016 when she announced “exciting news” about the property; something that required the clearing of some legal issues before moving forward. After the resolution of said legal issues, McDougal speculated that The Wheel of Time would become a “cutting edge TV series.”
We’ll keep you updated on Amazon’s The Wheel of Time as things develop.

Supernatural - ‘Lebanon’ Review
Tumblr media
What a lovely episode. It didn't feature a huge battle or the culmination of a major story arc. It wasn't a musical production with a large cast. It was small and personal, and deeply emotional.
Clearly, Sam should have been the one to wish for his heart's desire, because I bet it would have been what they wanted, that Dean be free of Michael. Instead, Dean held the pearl, and what he wanted more than his own life was his father back. Not a surprise, but it says a lot about Dean, doesn't it? That he wanted John Winchester more than he wanted to be free of the probability of eons of suffering? That in Dean's heart, just like when he went to Hell, he still doesn't believe he deserves to be saved?
This heartfelt Winchester reunion would have seemed bogus if John and his boys had just fallen into each others' arms. John, an active hunter fresh from 2003 who got dropped into the darkened bunker with his sawed-off in his hands, had trouble recognizing his own sons as they are in 2019, and who could blame him? It was almost a miracle that he didn't shoot first and ask questions after.
But once the truth set in, it was lovely. I keep using that word about this episode, but it bears repeating.
Tumblr media
The best scene was the one where John apologized to Sam for not being a good father. I honestly believe this was Jared Padalecki's best dramatic scene in the entire series. Sam told John that their argument was a lifetime ago, that he had thought for years of John on the floor of that hospital and how they never got to say goodbye. Sam was crying. John was crying. Of course, I was crying, too.
And during all of the bunker scenes, Dean's heart was in his eyes. This was what he had always wanted: the four of them together, his father expressing total love, pride, approval of him. And I loved how Dean was sensitive enough to leave his parents alone. Mary got to embrace her beloved husband one more time, touch him, kiss him, and I hope they did more than that while the boys were out shopping. Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Samantha Smith did a wonderful job expressing John and Mary's love and deep connection, especially when you consider that these two had only one scene together in the pilot episode way back in 2005. No need to mention that both of them look older. It wasn't important. The two actors aren't old enough to be J&J's parents, anyway.
I thought centering the reunion on a family dinner was, I'll say it again, lovely. These four people have never even had a family dinner together. Sam was a baby when Mary died, and Dean was only four.
Tumblr media
Like all of the best Supernatural episodes, "Lebanon" started out funny and ended tragically. Of course the boys couldn't have their father back, and I loved that John was the strong one. John was determined that they all simply enjoy being together one last time. John kept smiling at them, a genuine smile. He stayed positive. He gave Sam closure, and he gave Dean approval. He kept holding Mary's hand as if he couldn't bear to let her go. And he took a bit of it back to 2003 as a dream. It will have to be enough.
The rest of the episode was delightful, too. We've seen way too little of Lebanon, even though the Winchesters have been living there for six seasons. I enjoyed every single easter egg and callback, and I'm sure I didn't catch them all: the clown ghost; Max stealing the Impala like the valet in "Baby;" the Winchesters using the name Campbell, which is Mary's last name and an alias that actually means something to them. The movies at the Lebanon Vista Theatre included Hell Hazers and All Saints Day.
The three kids, Eliot, Max and Bea, got to find out who those two strange brothers were, and thought that monster hunters were incredibly cool. (Well, they are until you need them.) I also loved how Marta the post office clerk melted when Dean flirted with her, while she looked at Sam distastefully. How could anyone but a monster find Sam distasteful? I watched this episode with my son Daniel, who was going, "Yeah, let's take home an entire box of actively evil occult objects, because nothing could possibly go wrong with that." And "It's never a good sign when a teddy bear has no eyes and its mouth is sewn shut." I assume "Precious Pawn" was a reference to Lord of the Rings. Loved the dragon's breath. Laugh out loud.
Tumblr media
It was even nice to see Kurt Fuller as the nasty Zachariah again, although I hated seeing Castiel so hateful. It's sad to think of how Castiel would have been without his love for the Winchesters – although it would have been much sadder if Misha Collins hadn't been in the 300th episode. I'm glad Sam thought of the sigil so that he didn't have to kill alt-Castiel. Even though it wouldn't have mattered since time was reset and it never happened.
And the alternate timeline versions of Dean and Sam were a hoot. Especially Sam as a self-help guru with glasses. And kale.
Bits:
— This is Supernatural's 300th episode. Wow.
— There was no credit card for Jeffrey Dean Morgan in the opener. He got an end credit as "special guest star." Thoughtful, although I bet every fan of the show was already spoiled that he was going to be in this one.
— The date was the same as the episode air date: February 7, 2019. Skip day.
— I assume Mary didn't tell John that she's been dating Alternate Universe Bobby.
— The boys were at the pawn shop because of the skull of Sarah Good. She was a real person.
— As has been mentioned before, Lebanon, Kansas is the geographic center of the contiguous United States, a clever choice by the writers.
— The Agents of Doux put together an article on our favorite episodes of Supernatural. What do you think? Should "Lebanon" be on the list? It would absolutely be in my top twenty, that's for sure.
— We're getting a mini-hiatus. The next episode airs March 7.
Quotes:
Dean: (re: the dead pawn shop owner) "They always talk too much."
Eliot: "Where did they even come from? Them, or their weird sidekick with the trench coat? And what about that kid with the dumb Bambi look on his face all the time?"
Marta: (to Sam) "So you want me to give you an underage girl's address?"
Dean: "A serial killer clown. I mean, this is like the best/worst thing that's ever happened to you. You know, 'cause you love serial killers but you hate clowns." Sam: (frantically trying to burn the cigar box) "Yeah. I get it, Dean."
John: "So. You saved the world." Dean: "More than once." John: "Then it's all true. God, the Devil, you boys smack in the middle. Now you live in a secret bunker with an angel and Lucifer's kid." Dean and Sam: "Yeah." John: "And you've done this whole time travel thing before?" Dean: "Few times."
John: "I went out taking out Yellow Eyes. I mean, that was the point, right? Get the thing that killed Mom."
John: "Son, I am so sorry." Sam: "I'm sorry, too. But you did your best, Dad. You fought for us and you loved us. That's enough."
Dean: "According to the internet, you run a law firm and love kale." It's sad that even in the alternate timeline, the boys had no families.
Dean: "I googled me as well. Lot of beheadings."
Zachariah: "Earth, where you're always stepping in something. Come on, Constantine." Castiel: "I don't understand that reference." Zachariah: "You wouldn't."
Dean: (to Sam) "I'm good with who I am. I'm good with who you are." They're not angry young men anymore. They've grown up.
John: "I choose grateful. So to whatever brought us together, we owe you one. Amen."
Supernatural does time travel good. I could probably write about this episode for a few more hours, but I'd better stop here. Four out of four pearls,
Billie Doux has been reviewing Supernatural for so long that Dean and Sam Winchester feel like old friends. Courageous, adventurous, gorgeous old friends.

Genius of love (I)
Pairing: Billy Hargrove x reader.
Summary: You value loyalty over anything, so you’ll avoid Billy at all costs.
Lenght: 2K.
A/N: I’m blocktd so I decided to write some slow burn that’s not quite slow; I honestly don’t have anything planned out, but hey, that’s life. (Okay, maybe I do, i just haven’t written it down) (Also, I love feedback *eyes emoji*).
The sound of the bass wasn’t right for this day. You shut down the radio, glancing at dry blood adorning the face of your co-pilot. You frown and focus on the parking lot. Steve eyes you in curiosity, he turns on the radio once again.
“It’s not a big deal," Steve says while changing the station, he settles on Pat Benatar, knowing you wouldn’t be distracted by the all familiar vocals that where everywhere: the radio, parties, supermarket aisles.
Your harsh brows don’t falter and your eyes are unreadable through the dark lenses. If you were somebody else maybe your anger would go unnoticed. "I think it is.”
Steve rolls his eyes. He won’t say how displeased he is by your behavior most of the time but he would merely give you a teaser.
Suddenly the wheels rip through the asphalt, your reflexes saving your mother’s car from a big scratch and you from her wrath. Steve winces at his already-damaged hand, the pain boosted by the impact against the dashboard. His injury was the mere reason you drove him today to school, he wasn't able to clutch the steering wheel without any pain. Either way, with what went down last week you didn't want to be alone.
You widen your eyes at him. “I told you to put on a seatbelt, you shithead!” The words fly out of your mouth naturally. Steve doesn’t complain, you’re right.
You squint, the navy colored car catching your eye. You lift your round sunglasses messily, a strand of hair getting caught in between them.
There’s only one Camaro and only one California patent in your town. You gritt your teeth as you press the honk in your car, repeatedly. Steve eyes you in surprise. “Okay, that’s enough.”
You honk one last time, this time pressing down your fist, prolonging the unbearable sound. A couple of vague faces settle down on you, trying to figure out the dirt of the day. You speeded past the car, the vulgar finger sticking out of the window in gratitude. The redhead on the passenger seat rolls her eyes, it wasn't Max, thankfully, just Ashley Cooper.
Steve scratches the back of his head. “(Y/N), I really appreciate the concern but I can handle him.”
You try not to snort. Definitely the hits left him a little delusional if he lacked so much self-awareness, the purple surrounding his brown eyes left him exposed. “He tried to punch a kid,” you state, maneuvering the wheel into the perfect spot.
Steve's eyebrows rose, a tiny smile gracing his lips. “You don’t even like kids.”
You scoff, your eyes scanning through the mirror to check if you stayed in between the lines, parking has never been your forte. “I have a sense of morality, you know? I should be able to get angry.” You stick out your tongue, drawing your argument.
Steve pulls out his seatbelt quietly. You were opening your car door, a leg sticking out, when you noticed he was stuck in his seat. You pulled it back in and turned to him.
"What will people say?" Steve asks quietly, his hands rubbing his face in despair. The last year was a quiet roller-coaster for him, he went from drinking kegs in seconds to spending hours in the library, reckless drives on daddy's car to calm movie afternoons with Nancy, to being on top of the world only for now to be diminished by goldilocks and an unrequited love.
You stare at him silently, biting the inside of your cheek. He wasn't the douchey Steve from the past anymore, the one who flirted with girls for free homework, he was just Steve now, and even though he was alright with being a regular guy, he still felt insecure, even if he doesn't say it, and he still needed the validation he constantly got from the school crowd (certainly his parents wouldn't give it to him). "It depends."
"On what?"
"How much the other person spills," you say casually, not your best attempt at comforting someone but it is the truth. You'd been in his situation before, he knows that. It wasn't about getting beaten to unconsciousness but it was about people's loyalty. Were they with you? Solitude is not a good look nowadays.
He sighs harshly, the loose strand hanging on his forehead moving alongside. "Best case scenario, he doesn't say shit, still... people talk."
"People will always talk," you cut him off sharply, leading him back to reality. No matter the case everyone is in the panoptical; you take chief Hopper as an example, no one know where he lives yet people still make speculations about him, branding him as a mysterious man when he was much more than that. "You can either stay inside the car." You raise your eyebrows sympathetically. "Or get out and confront the situation, then, decide what to do. Assess and assist, just like your father says."
Steve snorts. "He would be having a field day knowing I would be taking his advice."
You laugh, the shrill giggles stirring in your mouth. His father was sharp man, there was no denying that. You think the only thing Steve and his brother value from him is probably the fact that at 52 he wasn't still bald, which meant they hadn't carried the unlucky genes.
Steve's brother... No, you will not think of him today, you close your eyes, breathing in slightly.
When you open them again you see no sight of Steve. You step out, he's leaning against the car, putting on his most intimidating face. You glance through the parking lot, trying to scare off the curious faces. Many girls whisper loudly to each other, crutching their books with wandering eyes, especially the younger ones.
You sigh, throw a look at Steve, then proceed to walk out the parking lot and into the school, hoping Ms. Bloom is in a good mood to day. You could do without her weekly lessons about how eating meat is a sin and a danger to ecosystem, as if the class weren't opening up and examining a cow's eye in her lab.
Your lids opened slightly, trying hard not to stay shut. You were met with cherry dyed hair and a mocking face.
"I should send you to detention for this," the voice states, a pretentious tone accompanying the sentence. She sat on the table and rolled her eyes with a smile. "But I'm not an old bitter hag so I won't." She laughed.
You groaned, wincing at your friend Debbie's shitty impersonation of Ms. Bloom. You hid your head between your arms again. She smacked you in the head. "Wake up, sleeping beauty."
You stared at her blankly, feeling the weight of your deep eye bags; not even a ton of cucumbers and beauty sleep could save you from the evidence of your sleepless nights.
Debbie crossed her bare legs, you value her immune system because the weather is located in the negative bar yet she managed to not catch a cold. She hummed. "So... what happened to Steve?"
You raise your left eyebrow in displeasure. "Why don't you ask him?"
Debbie deadpans. You widen your eyes mockingly. She got off the table then faced you. "I've been hearing a couple of rumors here and there," she motioned with her hand excitedly, an habit she has whenever she talks a subject of her interest. "And frankly, it's hard to defend Steve if I have to speculate."
You laugh, untangling your arms and posing them in the back of your head. "You don't want to defend him, you just want to know."
Debbie shrugs. "Okay, so what? Some people say Billy did it. Is it true?"
You stare at her with a grimace. "I have no idea," you lie.
Debbie rolls her eyes. "Alright, whatever, I'll just ask Jen. Still, try to coax some info out of him, will you?" She winks at you.
You sit there, watching your best friend head out to door. You begin fiddling with your pen. You knew what Billy was capable to do with his hands, you wonder if he has the mental capacity to come up with a believable lie to stablish his dominance over Steve's fallen kingdom.
You sigh, you were tired of these popularity contests; none of this would transcend anyway.
Billy doesn't flinch when he closes his locker to find your glaring face behind. He retrieved a single pencil. You're sure it was stolen.
He rolled his eyes, his long eyelashes sticking out of his lids. "I figured you would come reprimand me. Heard you've got quite a reputation of being a little bitch in here." He intonates on the little bitch part.
You huff with a sarcastic smile. "I'll take little bitch over Airhead jerk and walking proof of STD's any day."
"Has anyone told you how funny you are?" He snarls, stuffing his fists on his pocket.
"As a matter of fact, yes." You tilt your head to side, the sudden angle leaving the bruises around his nose exposed, along with a single cut under his eye. Either you were full of adrenaline or just plain oblivious but you were sure that wasn't there before. "But I'm not here to talk about comedy."
He steps closer to you, his tongue darting out slightly, his blue eyes scanning your face, at least he has the decency to not gaze farther down. "Then why are you here for?" His voice drops and octave. You make a face of disgust and step back.
First, he's angry, now he's horny. Who understands him?
You raise your voice, along with an accusatory finger to his face. "Listen to me. I don't care what kind of drug you were in when you decided to attack a kid and Steve, okay? Don't bother explaining, just grow up! You can't go around throwing punches, it's ridiculously childish."
He laughs sarcastically, pulling down your hand slowly. You keep yourself from slapping that shit-eating grin of his face. "You say childish but he can't even show his face around me."
"He's literally in class right now," you mutter, your brows knitting together.
He sighs exasperatedly, his hands rising to his face. "Come on, it's just a figure of speech!"
You roll your eyes. "I was just fucking with you."
"So was I."
"Just shut up," You groan. "Look, Steve is like a brother to me-"
"That little you think of him?"
"-And I'm just making sure his senior year doesn't get fucked by a shithead who has more value over his hair than using condoms. So, I'll make it clear to you that if you spill any words, I'll do something. I don't know what I'll come up with, but I'm pretty creative." You tried to sound as threatening as possible. In the past, intimidating people was easier; turns out that trying to be a good person doesn't always have its perks. Still, the art of making up life-destroying rumors is your biggest virtue (that's debatable) and you weren't throwing it to waste.
"And pretty chatty too. Are you done?" He asks, leaning against the row of lockers. He seems unfazed by your threat, which was only natural, a man with so little brain doesn't value the power of words and decides that fists are his go-to weapon.
You stand there, arms crossed over your white sweater, Billy raised his eyebrows, waiting for your answer.
"Okay, I am," you inform reluctantly. You turn to leave, your glare never leaving your face.
"Wait..."
You halt and turn slightly, your head following his voice. "Yeah?"
Billy runs a hand through his hair. "Um... Nevermind."
You uncross your arms and keep on walking.
Nevermind... It could mean many things. All of them run through your head, yet nothing makes any sense to you. You sigh, he was probably going to make a comment about your butt but he decided to take it back. He was learning already.

El is NOT ‘in love’ with Mike
Mileven-shippers be bugging - apparently I’m  ‘misogynisitc’ to think Mike Wheeler is gay, cause I’m not taking into consideration how ‘in love’ El is and am therefore enjoying her suffering (despite the fact I’ve said multiple times I don’t think El is in love with him either). So I’m just doing a rebuttal. Not going to even mention the milevens who lap-up the ‘Will is gay and pinning over straight-Mike for the rest of his life’-narrative. But,besides all the s4 movies having the long distance couple break up and admit in at least 4-6 movies that they both knew all along “it would never work out” and that they never loved each other. And El’s character even being happy for byler .The show hints at the fact (pretty heavily) El isn’t ‘in love’ with Mike. But is simply confused (given her lack of proper socialization). I’ve mentioned it before but just some obvious points people like to ignore...
For some inexplicable reason...We’re supposed to believe in s1 a traumatized girl (with no proper socialization with adults or peers) who doesn’t even know what a friend is -  is supposed to know the nuances of romantic, platonic, and familial love (or just the distinctions between physical attraction, crushes ,or romantic love)? Really?!
-  in s1 El knew Mike for 4 days, but we’re supposed to believe they ‘fell in love at first sight’? Even when the official ST-twitter ‘st writers’ said they don’t believe in ‘love at first sight’.
Tumblr media
- El is mixing up familial love with romantic love.  Before he asks her out , El asks in regards to the status of their relationship “will you be like my brother?” And she is confused and upset when Mike says “no”- and proceeds to ask , “Why?” their relationship would be different than siblings. And Mike says “I don’t know, I guess it’s not.”
Tumblr media
Then Mike accidentally implies the only difference between friends/siblings/ gfs is that you kiss them. Mike pretty much says it’s different simply for the fact that it would be weird to go to a dance with someone who is like a sister - then kisses her.
And then In s2, Mike tries to emulate his ‘non jealous’ friend,  Dustin, who is happy for lumax (despite his own romantic feelings). So Mike tries to act like Dustin, and  forces Will to dance with a girl (who’s wearing a rainbow hair clip). And right after this we see Dustin look sad about Max/Lucas dancing and Mike (next to Dustin) look sadly at Will/girl dancing in the same exact frame as Max/Lucas. As they switch between these 2 shots to emphasize their sadness/jealousy.
Tumblr media
Then they both sit down (mirroring each other) on the verge of tears before Nancy and El show up to comfort them and distract them.  As El once again (presumably) wears Nancy dress.
The parallels continue as Nancy (who has no romantic feelings for Dustin but more of a sibling-esque bond) teaches him how to dance, similar to how Mike teaches El to do the same. Indicating it’s not romantic for either pairings (despite the kiss). Mike :” you don’t go to dances with your sister?/ no?/ i mean you can but it’d be really weird.”
Tumblr media
*In s2 they even make a direct parallel to Luke &Leia (who were siblings who had a weird romantic relationship/kiss before realizing they were related). Mike (as Leia) saying “it’s a trap” to El (Luke).
Tumblr media
And Leia (Mike) eventually gets with Han (Will) the one she had the real romantic tension with all along, and who she tried to make jealous by using Luke (El). Specifically, by kissing Luke (El) in front of Han (Will). Doing this by kissing El at the dance where Will could see.
They’re also compared to cousins.
Tumblr media
And most damming is how Mike/El is compared to mileven. Cause El is confusing familial love for Mike with romantic.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
* In s1 Lucas even compares El to Mike’s sister Holly, while the decoration of a heart being propelled by a rainbow hangs above him. Which echos what happened in s2 as well.In s2 , Erica  forces He-man and barbie to make out. And Lucas angrily separates the two. And then this discussion happens.
Erica: “Hey , They’re in love!”Lucas (livid- and standing right next to a rainbow): “No, actually,  they’re not. They don’t even exist on the same planet.”
Tumblr media
Cue El and mike being compared to ET and Eliot (by the Duffers in multiple interviews and in the pilot script, shown above ) .  And  El watching he-man in s1- while Dustin in s2 has he-man and et next to eachother to show they were in fact  Lucas was talking about mileven.  Mike even calls El “yoda” in s1. We also see El compared to ET on multiple occasions in s1 (the bike scene, reese’s pieces vs eggos, et/el both having a the barbie like makeover and dressing as a ghost etc).  And then there’s the  old euphemism of “girls come from Venus, and boys come from Mars”. So El telling mike he should ‘stick with his own species’ (aka boys). And the Duffers saying mileven isn’t in love cause they’re not from the same planet  -is just them telling us , Mike is gay  and El doesn’t love him either. Will even says to Mike “welcome to my world”. In s3 we see Mike’s gotten rid of the sign that has a heart being propelled by a rainbow (symbolizing how he’s trying to hide/get rid of his feelings for Will) . But in El’s room while mileven makes-out we see a drawing of a heart being propelled by a rainbow (similar to the sign in s1 )- emphasizing the fact that no matter how much he makes out with El, and tries to hide the truth... he’s still gay. Like Max said in her rebuttal to El’s comment of “friends don’t lie”. “Yeah, but boyfriends lie ALL THE TIME”. Cause the relationship on Mike’s end was always a farce.
Tumblr media
- And before their first kiss ,  after asking if she’d be like his sis, she asks  if he’s asking her to the snow ball as “a friend?” And he says “it’s different”. But  El again asks “how?”. And Mike (similar to El’s sibling question) once again can’t explain the difference of how friends and romantic partners are different to her, before they kiss. And just a few days earlier she asked the gang “what is friend?”. Yet we’re supposed to believe she knows she has a crush on Mike?
El constantly says in reference to Mike “friends don’t lie” (even in s3). Her instincts are telling her she doesn’t have romantic feelings for him ... which is why in a span of 3 minutes she says she thinks of him as both a “brother” and a “friend” when he tries to make it romantic in s1.
Tumblr media
This whole ‘romantic confession’ of Mike’s in s1,  echos his ‘love confession’ in s3. With Mike making it romantic and El once again not understanding his words or reciprocating her understanding of ‘feeling like she’s in love with him’.
Mike, before his love confession, apologizes for everything BUT LYING (the thing that broke them up in the first place). Aka because the love confession itself, was yet another lie Mike was telling. Which is why he never says “I love you” (to her face) but instead says *blank/it* instead of “love” .Saying “It makes you crazy…blank makes you crazy.
In s1 Flo says  “ only love makes you  crazy and that damn stupid”. Re-contextualizing  the “crazy together” scene between Mike and Will as romantic (since  Mike & Flo both equate love to making you ‘crazy’ ) .
When Mike tries to confess his “love” to El , he says “Well , they do say it makes you crazy”… much to El’s confusion as  she says “what makes you crazy”? But when Mike asks Will, “We’ll go crazy together, right? Will immediately responds back “yeah, crazy together.”As they smile at each other.
Then there’s the fact that in s2 El’s new catchphrase was “not stupid”.She even says this line right before going to visit Mike. Right before Mike says he loves El, Nancy even comments that “El’s not stupid”. And in s3 El says “there’s more to life than STUPID boys.”And in s3 during the byler fight, Mike says “El’s not stupid.”  As opposed to Will who right after this, runs to castle byers, looks at the Halloween pic where they both said they’d go ‘crazy together’, and cries and calls himself “stupid” (4x).
Tumblr media
(x)(x)
The show says El is neither stupid nor crazy for Mike, meaning she DOES NOT (romantically) LOVE MIKE! The only one who is “crazy” and “stupid” for Mike is Will. Therefore, Will is the only one in love with Mike! . She even ignored his confession for 3 months and lied about hearing it- that doesn’t scream ‘in love’ .
- El mimicks Erica Kane and pretends to be with a fictional Mike Roy, while watching ‘all my children’ (Mike and Erica aren’t endgame btw) . Which parallels mileven to Karen/ Billy. Before she meets him she’s reading a romance book that has a guy that resembles Billy on the cover. The Duffers even mentioned they changed the cover to show the resemblance between Billy and the fictional book character. And we see Karen reading the sequel in s3 before Billy appears. Both El and Karen don’t/didn’t love Mike or Billy- they just projected onto them fictional characters they were infatuated with. She knew Mike for 4 days- saw a rushed romance on tv with a character named Mike- and simply wanted to emulate it with the only Mike she knew.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-She latched on to Mike more than the others since he was the first boy her age who took care of her. If Dustin did everything Mike did, she would of assumed she was in love with him too! El through her limited knowledge (given to her by Mike) essentially assumes boyfriends (who you are in love with) are boys who you think of as “friends, cousins, or brothers” who you kiss. Since Mike accidentally implied that feelings for  brothers/ friends are the same as  romantic crushes (in s1 saying about the difference “I don’t know I guess there isn’t”, and she is later taught while in isolation that kissing=romantic love (by soap operas). And then projects Mike roy (who she’s actually crushing on) onto our Mike wheeler. And then she proceeds to mimic what she sees on screen. Similar to how she copies Max’s words in s3. El says “I love you too”, cause (similar to mimicking Max and soap operas) she assumes mimicking him is what she’s supposed to do! Not cause she's actually in love with him!
Tumblr media
(X)
Not to mention the episode of the soap opera episode she’s mimicking is about a women and a man (named Michael) who rush into a relationship despite barely knowing each other, because of traumatic circumstances . And who are not endgame! She’s mimicking the female character who (has romantic feelings for a guy named Mike). Just like Mike projects Will on to El. El does the same projecting qualities of soap-opera Mike Roy onto our Mike Wheeler.
 - For El’s entire life she has known only 4 boys and 1 girl her age (her dating options are pathetically puny). She knew 4 boys for less then then a week, then immediately jumped into dating the first one who kissed her (and the only one who visited her for her 6 months in isolation at the cabin...interacting with her only romantic option, Mike). She’s never had a normal social-life  like most kids who interact with a large number of  boys and girls. So she could never see if what she had for Mike was romantic (or more than a simple crush) cause she has nothing to compare it to.
In s3
- Dustin compares stancy to Mileven stating it’s “bullshit”. And in s1 mileven is compared to Karen/Ted, as El sits and enjoys Ted’s laz-eboy chair. Similar to how Steve and Ted both eat chicken as their female partners storm away upset, and both men do nothing to help. Nancy states the only reason Karen and Ted got married was because they were young and that getting together was the more ‘socially acceptable/logical choice’ and saying “I don’t think my parents ever loved each other.” John says Nancy was repeating her mom’s mistakes by getting with the jock (Steve) , similar to how her mom got with a wealthy man (Ted). And now Mike is repeating Nancy and Karen’s mistakes getting with a girl cause it’s the logical choice (instead of being with the boy he loves). It’s mutual though (just like the Wheeler parents, mileven never loved each other).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-  In s3 El even says “How do I know what I like?” In reference to clothes and Max says she has to figure that out on her own without letting Mike or Hopper influence her. Associating mileven with El’s lack of understanding of knowing what she likes. This poor girl doesn’t even know how to interpret what objects she likes but we’re supposed to believe , before this she knew with certainty she liked Mike romantically?!
Tumblr media
Later Max even asks her “Is Mike a good kisser?” And she similarly answers “I don’t know, he’s my first boyfriend”. While staring at a pic of the karate-kid ( right after she dumped Mike).  Implying subconsciously she’s thinking of other boys , who are not Mike in the future. Which is actually very similar to the soap opera character who went on to have many marriages after being “in love with” Michael. Plus, despite making out with him everyday for 6 months straight- she doesn’t feel strongly , and is neutral/confused about how kissing him makes her feel (similar to clothes).
Tumblr media
This is also in direct opposition to Will, who said he expected him and Mike to never get girlfriends and spend the rest of their lives together, and who later cries while looking at a picture of Mike. Unlike El who is happy and swooning over a pic of a random male celeb. They even have El (after breaking up with Mike) happily read comics books with Max, while Will (right before his breaks down) throws his comic on the floor, frustrated he can’t get his mind off of his fight with Mike.
- Also if she’s ‘so in love with him’ as people claim, her  laughing right after breaking up with him and having a party with Max makes little to no sense. And if you say she simply ‘doesn’t understand how breakups work’... you’re just proving my point that she’s too naive and not emotionally-mature enough to be in a romantic-relationship in the first place.  The breakup between Mileven was comedic, while Byler’s fight was serious, cause byler’s fight is more important to the writers .Mike’s drastically different expressions after the fight. The dramatic framing in the rain vs the casual comedic after-math at the mall. One fight being in front of a crowd, while byler’s fight was something private and just between them. El smiling vs Will’s heartbreak. It just highlights once again Will loves Mike, and El doesn’t!
Tumblr media
- After Mike says to  El (in the pool shed) she’s “the most important thing in the world “, to him. She ignores his proclamation, and agrees with Hopper that they’re spending too much time together, and tells him they both need to  spend time with their own species. Which is contrasted with Mike’s confession in the Byers-shed (in s2) where Mike says, asking Will to be his friend was the ‘best thing he’s ever done’ . And those words were what helped break Will from his possession.
The framing of this mileven scene was not cinematic or heartfelt, and neither was the delivery from Mike.We as the audience are supposed to take his words as seriously as El- aka , not at all. Because the scene and his words were meant to feel empty.  He’s not crying, trying to reach her with proclamations of his genuine feelings. There’s no narrative importance to this scene (unlike byler’s). And there’s no dramatic music, framing, lighting or shot composition (and the pool-scene was also incredibly short).
Tumblr media
Then, juxtapose this to the MUCH longer byler scene. A literal single tear falls down Mike’s cheek, as he recounts the first day they met. This whole monologue is only of tight shots of just their faces (their bodies aren’t shown like in the pool shed scene). This is a personal moment between them and them alone- and the fact we zoom in on their faces (expresses this to be important emotionally) . And when we see Will’s reaction to Mike saying “it was the best thing I’ve ever done”. We just see Will’s face only- no music is playing and all we hear is  Will’s whimpers and Mike crying in the background. They even have an added layer to this because earlier in the season Will assumes John only hangs out with him because he has no friends. But then Mike (despite all the hardships with the demogorgan and Mindflayer) still tells Will that asking him to be his friend was still the best thing he’s ever done. And those words are  what helps Will begin to break from his possession .
Tumblr media
-When Max makes fun of how Mike talks to much, El agrees and laughs. And similarly when Max says Mike is wrong and it isn’t just “a break” El once again chuckles.  This is not the behavior of someone who’s deeply in love with a person.
Tumblr media
Canonically El isn’t even into Mike’s real personality traits or his interests. Not only making fun of how he talks too much, but walking away and ignoring him when he excitedly talked about dinosaurs or makes jokes with the cpr dummy. She’s not into ‘nerds’. She only swooned for him in s3 when he was acting like a ‘bad-boy’ who was disrespectful to Hopper and his friends. Probably, because that’s what the tv has conditioned her to like.
Tumblr media
-Robin who had feelings for a girl also points out that Steve “didn’t even like her” despite all the attention Tammy gave him (similar to Mike with El).  Tammy is a someone who sucks at singing but does it all the time (COUGH insert mike’s singing in s3 as  El cuts him off as a parallel XD) .  And Robin annoyed also call’s Steve’s  hair “stupid”  like how Will called El “stupid”.  Implying similar to Steve who didn’t like Tammy (who his gay friend was crushing on) ... EL doesn’t like Mike (Who Will is in love with).
- She also never apologizes for spying on Mike-despite it clearly upsetting him. But to be fair Mike NEVER apologized for lying either (the cause of their breakup). It’s just so obvious they’re not compatible on any level. They can’t even agree to respect each others’ core principles; C’mon guys!
-Her whole arc in s2 was about leaving the cabin and learning more about herself and gaining independence from men controlling her autonomy (aka hopper and brenner). She went from wanting to see her friends and leave the cabin that she was forced to remain in because of Hopper. To in s3 , ignoring her friends and choosing to seclude herself in the cabin even when (unlike s2 ) she was allowed out of the house! All because she was dating mike. She directly went against her own mantra of “friends don’t lie” from s2 , lying to her friends to return to the cabin and kiss mike- limiting her much needed social interaction which she obtained by escaping the cabin in s2. Dating Mike caused her character to regress as a character NOT PROGRESS.
But also... El had no issues lying to her friends to ditch them and kiss mike (compromising her mantra of “friends don’t lie”. Just like Mike who lied to El despite him teaching her the saying in the first place- and how when together he stops being the group leader. They literally bring out the worst in each other! Lucas even says “ they’re lying”. Before Dustin says their relationship is “bullshit”. But then when Mike lied to her, that’s when she dumps him? And of course El pretends she didn’t hear the “I love her” (a form of lying). This is a stereotypical-childish-middle school-romance that falls apart easily based on petty reasons, cause it lacks a strong foundation. XD
-Then we’re supposed to believe she loves Mike-despite ignoring his love confession for 3 months?! Only saying she “loves” him (and‘making-up’ with him) right before she is about to move, and despite knowing about it for so long? To be fair she had other things to deal with (moving in with the Byers and losing Hopper). But it’s also suspicious it happens right after Mike helps her grab the teddy bear she can’t reach. This is because she used 2 different stuffed bears (Hopper and Terry’s in s2) as a comfort objects (and in s3 Will’s). In s2, she’d snuggle with them when she felt abandoned or at her lowest emotionally. And even the (romantic) ‘golden-teddy bear gift’ Mike was going to give her , was an empty gesture- that would of meant less than simply apologizing. She even wears Hopper’s shirt at the end of s3 which in s2 she snuggled with when homesick.  Her using teddy bears like s2,  wearing Hopper’s shirt from s2 (and undoing the s3 makeover where Max said to dress what felt like her and NOT Mike & Hopper),  and kissing Mike again, symbolizes all her character development was undone from s3- it’s symbolic of her CHARACTER REGRESSION. Just like how in s3 she stayed in the cabin and lied to her friends (when she started to date Mike)- undoing her character arc from s2 which was in direct opposition to her s2 character arc. Mileven’s kissing at the end of s3 shows it’s a bad for El’s growth and inhibits it- that’s what  season 3 was saying!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
El feels vulnerable  because she’s moving away and  still hasn’t gotten her powers back. But  then Mike comes in and gives her, her comfort object (which she couldn’t retrieve by herself, when she tried to use her telekenesis. That’s when El (conveniently) decides to proclaim she’s in love with him too. While in Will’s room, holding Will’s old teddy bear, as the teddybear comes between Mike and El (as they kiss).  It’s obvious (unlike Will) she doesn’t love him , but has just formed a co-dependency to him- and is looking for stability given all the new changes in her life. Like Hopper’s letter said “I don’t want things to change.” She preferred life when Hopper was still around and she had this fake fantasy that Mike was a good boyfriend- before s3.
-And again the very last shot we see of El and Will shows once again El doesn’t love Mike, the way Will does. (Image by  @tsugarubecker)
Tumblr media
She’s not as distraught or crying like Will is. She’s smiling with light over 1/2 her face because even if El struggles in a new environment she’ll be fine without her friends/Mike who she knew for 9 months. Honestly, other than Mike, she only knew the others for 3 months (since El never went out and only hung out with Mike). She’s hopeful . Will won’t be - because he actually loves Mike and won’t be able to have a new party , and will be a mess without his support system of friends, that he’s had for years! (Why jonathan looks at him concerned- when he’s just crying. With absolutely no hope in his face- covered in shadow , the opposite of El).
So again I say- EL IS NOT IN LOVE WITH MIKE! And, she will not be ‘heartbroken’ or devastated when they breakup. Frankly, her being away from Mike and gaining independence from Hawkins, and meeting new people is the best thing the writers could do for her character growth.

Okay, so. Thoughts on the mess that was Rian Johnson’s The Last Jedi.
- I can see why a lot of people had a big problem with Poe’s arc – mostly that it started him from such an obnoxious place that wasn’t entirely in keeping with his portrayal in Before the Awakening or the comics (honestly I think his character in TFA is sufficiently thin that it wasn’t really out of the realm of possibility). There’s also the component of the Angry Latino Man racist trope with his aggression towards Holdo and Leia. Leia slapping him was unnecessary. Leia stunning him so he flew back into a wall(?!) was really unnecessary, and combined with brutalization of the other characters of color was a Problem.
- But nonetheless I loved where it ended up. I did love Poe learning the brutal lessons of command, putting him in a place to be Leia’s successor as the leader of the Resistance. He is a hotshot pilot. Going from that to general, with all the need for long-term thinking that requires, is not an easy leap. So while I understand where people who hate it are coming from, I think that Poe’s journey to becoming Leia’s heir to the role of leader is the most compelling part of the film.
- God Luke was a mess. His grumpy old man act was funny but it hurt so much to see Luke, the beating heart of the OT, reduced to a bitter version of Obi-Wan, minus the hope of believing in the future. TFA and TLJ utterly broke Luke in a way that was just…too much. And god, he would never draw a weapon on his fucking nephew, no matter how scared he was. He might aggressively confront Ben, trying to get him to give Snoke up, go after the source, but killing his nephew out of fear? What? W H A T ?
- that said, that was the most meaty material Mark Hamill has ever been given and he fucking killed it, so props to him.
- What was Rey even doing through most of this movie. All the clarity and dynamism of her character was just sucked away and outside of some moments on Ahch-To she was either a prop in Kyle Ben’s narrative or a walking deus ex machina. She technically becomes the Last Jedi and turns her back on Ron but like…we didn’t see any of that? Does she even want to be a Jedi?
- look…I have been on the Rey Skywalker train forever. I am not happy with her being from unremarkable origins (assuming Kyle is telling the truth, and given that he is a manipulative abusive asshole he may not be) in part because it actually feeds the unfair idea that she’s somehow unrealistic (whatever that means in a space wizards franchise) or a Mary Sue character. She shows a level of skill, instinct, and power that has previously only been manifested by…Anakin Skywalker. That needs an explanation. Either she’s a Skywalker, or a vessel or champion of the Light Side of the Force, or some other shit, but there does need to be a reason. Luke and Anakin have a reason – they are Skywalkers, one Space Jesus and the other the son of Space Jesus.
- I have no idea what motivated Rey for so much of the film. Her quasi-Bespin going to Kyle thing was a fucking mess and required a lot of idiot balling. Rey is smarter than that. Rey saw Kyle murder his father – she would not just trust him enough to go alone. Basically Rian either did not get Rey as JJ Abrams made her or he didn’t care. Either one is utter bullshit. Some cool action sequences mean nothing without the character dynamics to back them up.
- God, Finn…Rian took the problematic aspects of Finn’s comic relief role from TFA and just…ran with them. I didn’t object to him trying to run off to find Rey – he has no real attachment to the Resistance. But his whole mission is just…pointless. There’s no follow up on his being a Stormtrooper who overcame his programming. We get some interesting stuff with Rose about his being a legend when he’s not comfortable in that role, and I kind of liked the way his self-sacrificing behavior was called out by Rose so he knew that besides Rey people actually cared about him, but…there were so many missed opportunities, and so many unnecessary injuries and physical jokes.
- I love Rose. I do. I don’t know that there was really a place for her in this story. Her ‘eat the rich’ working class background was cool, she’s a huge sweetheart, Kelly Marie Tran gave a great performance. Her romance with Finn was a rushed mess. A crush I can believe, fine. Love after like two days max? No. They didn’t earn that. Honestly if you are going to introduce your first significant woc you have to find more to do with her. It was nice that (unlike Leia and Luke) she got a chance to grieve her losses
- Kyle Ben’s eventually becoming the irredeemable supreme leader actually works pretty well, but how it got there…on the other hand…Kyle shows his true colors when he turns on Snoke…in order to take his place in the finest traditions of the Sith. He’s the full-fledged villain for episode IX. As it should be.
- What the fuck was Snoke. Why did the film bring him and Rey and Kylo together in an awkward and forced series of developments and then just cut him in half. We have no idea where he came from, his relationship to the Empire, his goals, his plan with Kyle and Rey and Luke…it’s just an enormous blank and we’ll never get an answer because Rian got bored and just decided to off him. It’s not like I care about him as a character, obviously. His death hardly upset me other than the fact that it was pretty bad writing.
- why the everliving fuck did we have to have YODA show up, basically to give a non-chalannt mea culpa and say ‘actually the Jedi were kind of shit.’ Like ANAKIN? Why the fuck would you not use the person the Order failed the most. Also Yoda looked fucking terrible I have no idea why they used a puppet AND CGI.
- On the plus side, Leia did a truly spectacular Force Thing (though that was some cheap shit by Rian spacing her like that). Then she was unconscious. She never got to mourn Han at all. She passed the torch to Poe, but I can’t help but be disappointed when so much was promised. Also…no one came to her aid? I know that in Bloodline her parentage being revealed ruins her reputation and strips her of her influence…but no one? What the fuck?
- DJ was just a useless character. Maybe they’ll be a payoff in episode ix, but he serves no purpose but to set up an inconsequential betrayal, unless you count Phasma dying (also a cheapening of her character as laid out in her novel) as a tremendously important moment. All the damage was done by Holto’s sacrifice. Finn and Rose and BB-8 were pretty incidental.
- the Porgs were stupid space puffins and despite myself I’m kind of fond of the stupid things. The crystal foxes were much cooler, of course.
- R2D2 and C3PO were props in this film. Chewbacca too.
- Luke…weirdly his facing his fears and sacrificing himself was one of the best parts of the mostly-okay third act? I liked the new, less flashy but still impressive Force power of projection, and he got some chance to say goodbye to Leia at least, and he got to lay down the law to Kyle Ron. But…he died alone. That’s not fucking okay. That’s a betrayal of Luke, the heart of the original trilogy. It’s just…wrong. And it’s sad and heartbreaking but not really in a satisfying way. And he never really passes the torch to Rey – he sacrifices himself to fix his fuck-up with Kyle. He deserved more than that. All the Skywalkers did.
- the space battles were pretty great, the whole tracking thing and the slow race was very Battlestar-y, even if the mechanics of the plot were a bit questionable.
- I need to read Leia Princess of Alderaan to get the backstory on Holdo. Her character was interesting (though we could have used more backstory or elaboration on how she became so respected a military leader) and her relationship with Leia was tantalising but there just wasn’t enough. Her heroic sacrifice was fucking awesome though. If she had to go out she picked a good way to do it.
- Billie Lourd got a character and lines and that was pretty great.
- Okay, minor nitpick that actually REALLY BOTHERED ME. Among the casualties in the opening battle appeared to be Temmin ‘Snap’ Wexley, one of the protagonists of the Aftermath books, and the son of the delightful Norra Wexley. Like, first, Mister Bones would fucking swim through space and stab Kyle Ben with his vibroknives because he is Norra’s motherly love incarnate in a psychotic droid. And second, Norra deserved better. She’s probably dead now and that is bullshit in itself.
- Or it might have been another bearded guy, in which case like Jessica Pava his absence bothered me. Like…where did these people go?
- blowing up the bridge to kill Ackbar et al was just cheap bullshit honestly
- the war profiteering and moral ambiguity was not elaborated enough to justify its inclusion, honestly. I’m not averse to that sort of moral ambiguity but you have to earn it to stick it into a Star Wars film. They didn’t. And again, DJ was just useless.
So, yeah, to review – this is not a movie I was ever going to like. I got almost nothing I wanted out of it, it fucked over the Skywalkers royally in a way that left me feeling bitter and betrayed, it misused or wasted Finn and Rose, Rey’s character was inconsistent at best with little to no on-screen development. The opening was strong. The second act was an epic dumpster fire, particularly everything with Kyle and Rey and Snoke and everything that led there. The third more or less pulled the majority of story threads out and left them in an interesting place for JJ Abrams in episode ix to maybe do some interesting things, but the path it took to get there had…problems.
Rian doesn’t love Star Wars like I love Star Wars, and he really doesn’t like the Skywalkers. I guess that’s what some people wanted – for an end to the Skywalker-centric narrative. Personally I think that is utterly missing the point of literally everything about this series, but whatever, people will disagree.
The writing was overall clumsy to outright bad, with bursts of inspired storytelling but mostly buried under Kyle apologism.
Corvus fairly points out that The Empire Strikes Back is not nearly as good as movie as it is without the events of Return of the Jedi, so to an extent it’s hard to fairly judge the film when you don’t know where it is in the overarching story. But equally this film had so many opportunities to develop the characters and build the world and it just. Did not.
As for a rating, it depends when you ask me. I’d rate it somewhere between a 5 and 6/10. Maybe a 4 in some aspects. It’s not Attack of the Clones bad, but it’s worse than Return of the Jedi, The Force Awakens, A New Hope, ESB…I mean, I liked Rogue One more. Frankly Revenge of the Sith was more emotionally satisfying, especially in the context of the Clone Wars series. I’m never really sure where to rate The Phantom Menace. This might be better. I’m not entirely sure, and that’s pretty damning,
I’m just…so disappointed and frustrated and have basically decided to treat the new canon post RotJ as more of alternate universe than anything else. Which is kind of sad, honestly.
tldr; Anakin Skywalker Did Not Die For This Shit

10 Best Episodes of Stranger Things Ranked
One of Netflix’s most popular series that struck a chord with both kids and adults is ‘Stranger Things’. Produced by the Duffer Brothers, Stranger Things is a sci-fi horror TV series that first made waves since its release on July 15, 2016. Stranger Things received outstanding reviews from both critics and viewers and many praised Netflix’s effort of creating their original series. Set in the town of Hawkins, Indiana in the 1980s, the story follows the life of teenagers Dustin Henderson, Lucas Sinclair, Mike Wheeler and Will Byers.
Tumblr media
In a strange turn of events, Will’s disappearance causes a chain reaction of the discovery of a secret government facility in Hawkins National Laboratory and their confidential experiment which results in the creation of a dimensional portal. This portal unleashes a deadly creature who belongs from the ‘Upside Down’ and the facility performs experiments on humans based around this portal. This facility is also where we meet Eleven, a young girl with supernatural powers. The story quickly moves from being a rescue mission to eliminating the creature. While the series’ four seasons may not seem enough for many, the storyline seems to be perfectly stretched without making compromises on character development. Here are the best episodes from the series ranked on their ability to keep the audience engaged, shock the viewer with surprise or to make them feel good inside.
Season 2, Episode 2: Trick or Treat, Freak
The Halloween episode of Stranger Things somehow feels befitting as the characters dress up as characters from nostalgic movies like Ghostbusters. The episode sees the initial beginning of the relationship between Hopper and Eleven as she comes back to life after being killed in the first season. Barb, who has become a famous character among the fans is seen being mourned over by Steve and Nancy.
Season 3 Episode 7: The Bite
The episode before the finale is meant to hype-up the ending and many think ‘The Bite’ did a great job of accomplishing that. Nancy sheds her good girl persona and starts firing rounds of shotgun eventually leading to her character development as one of the strongest. Eleven is still in focus and while her powers have restrictions, her build-up to the finale is definitely worth watching.
Season 2 Episode 6: The Spy
Absent from the episode is Eleven and while many may see her as one of the main protagonists, the beauty of other characters and their advancements keeps the story going on even if the main character remains out of the picture. This episode sees Steve and Dustin starting off as friends and other kids joining Steve to fight the Demon Dogs. Max explains her story to Lucas and Will is pressured to act as a spy for Mind Flayer.
Season 3 Episode 4: The Sauna Test
Taking a break from the nostalgic trip to the 80s, the episode ‘The Sauna Test’ brings the show’s pleasant themes to rest when Billy starts attacking the kids. With the initial hatred towards the kids which triggers Billy unleashing his wrath on the kids, the episode makes for an adrenaline-inducing fight sequence. The episode sees Billy taking Eleven by throat which is the episode’s most terrifying scene.
Season 1 Episode 6: The Monster
One of the moments made famous by Dustin is when Mike is forced by his bullies to jump off a cliff only to be saved by Eleven, and Dustin screams “She’s our friend and she’s crazy” at the bullies. This also the episode where Eleven finally sees her abilities in a positive light thanks to Mike and his constant upliftment.
Season 2 Episode 9: The Gate
The finale of season 2 is a rather eventful one. While finales of other seasons were jam-packed with edgy moments, the finale of season 2 is much calmer and slower compared to the rest. While there are many key moments in the episode to make it interesting, the part where Steve blows up a part of Upside Down is undeniably the best.
Season 2 Episode 8: The Mind Flayer
Probably one of the saddest moments in the entire series was this episode which saw Bob win over Joyce only to get killed by the Demodogs as he couldn’t make it in time. Many feel that this episode marked the cruel and gruesome nature of the storyline which puts the entire series ahead of its game. Other notable events in the episode include the exciting escape from the Hawkins Lab and the fight between Eleven and a Demodog.
Season 1 Episode 1: The Vanishing of Will Byers
If there is one episode that captures the core of Stranger Things as a series is the pilot episode of the series. Many think of it as one of the best works in the series and if not preceded by the intense season-enders, the pilot episode might just have taken the top positions. The first episode sets the mood for the entire series right from its first few scenes. The seemingly harmless story is met with unusual turns in a very short amount of time and this is exactly how the rest of the series looks like.
Season 3 Episode 8: The Battle of Starcourt
The longest episode in the series, the finale of season 3 brings many characters together, a scene which is rare in the entire season. Many think that the characters embarking on their own journey by the end of the episode is understated. However, the core of Stranger Things remains the journeys of groups which is why the Scoop Troop’s handling of communications led to one of the best scenes in the episode which is Suzie and Dustin singing ‘The Neverending Story’ theme song. Many notable scenes from the episodes include the fight at Starcourt Mall where Eleven seems to have lost her powers and forces all the others in the group to brainstorm.
Season 1 Episode 8: The Upside Down
The end of season 1 was definitely one of the best moments on the entire run of the series. The beauty of the episode lies in the closings of many chapters that the season started with. Right for Eleven striking down her mad scientist ‘Papa’ and his accomplices with her powers while also managing to dive into the Upside Down to rescue Will and bring him back to life. We also get to see the end of the Demogorgon and Eleven’s goodbye to Mike as she gives it all to save Will. The end of the first season truly remains as one of the most exciting episodes in the series which puts all the build-up to rest.
