before i get to leyley’s dialogue here, i want to say that i love the inside of wherever this is. is this part of the abandoned factory? is this just somewhere they found? i also see a hammer that stands out, and a particular door that’s boarded up. break in!!!

i wonder if this is a genuinely flashback or a dream sequence? if it’s a dream, whose? we’ve seen both andrew and ashley have dreams about their past (ashley when the game starts episode one, and andrew when he falls asleep at their parents’ house), and from the devlogs, we know that we’re going to see a whole lot more of their past with the next update!! so, i wonder who this moment is important to?

anyway. leyley suggesting they start a shooting spree in a church is very in-character for her. i don’t think i have to ask how she got there or why, because she’s just kind of… like that. we see that same behavior when they’re going back to the hotel room to lure the cultist out:

the second image we have is this:

ashley is in some cultist’s apartment? house? …where’s andrew? did they break in? probably not, considering the ritual on the floor being up and ready to go. is andrew around, or is it just ashley here? was she invited? did she invite herself? did they attend another cultist event??

the rune on the floor here is different from the runes we’ve seen previously!! the one in the first cultist’s house is your standard pentagram with five smaller pentagrams around it. the second one, at the cultist party, is also a pentagram with five smaller pentagrams around it (but it looks better than the first one).

it’s very surprising that andrew is the one who ultimately kickstarted their relationship. julia probably wasn’t going to say anything to him about her crush despite it being super super obvious. she’s very nervous and flustered in this scene!! the rumors surrounding him and ashley, regardless of truth, must have been harmful enough that he felt like he needed to step in to dispell them. andrew and his reputation… his care for ashley…

i love how we can see ashley’s interpretation of things and compare it to andrew’s interpretation of things. ashley’s view of the world is so skewed by her fears of abandonment and not being enough. she’s terrified of losing andrew, so anyone getting close to him is a threat that needs to be dealt with. but, andrew doesn’t have that same insecurity. he knows where he stands with ashley, he knows that no one can replace him in her life, and she can’t be replaced in his.

i’m so glad we get to see more of julia!! i know the game is titled the coffin of andy and leyley, but she’s important to the narrative!! she’s one of the few people to witness ashley’s full anger!! she was friends with nina!! she has seen how andrew acted when ashley wanted something!! i didn’t want to leave her in episode one…

it’s unfortunate that the next episodes will be delayed due to editor limitations, but that means that the game has so much content and i’m so exited to play it upon release!!!

as a disabled leatherman i'd love to know more about little people adapting kink lifestyles and fashion! and as an intersex person, i'm also curious about if there's any intersection between your intimate preferences as an intersex person and your intimate preferences as a little person, or if they impact your approach to sex, intimacy, and safety during sex in wholly unique ways from each other? i'm ace and don't engage in intercourse explicitly, so i do a lot of dirty talking when pleasuring a partner (if they're into that) - if you do like dirty talk, are there common phrases or words that you prefer to avoid during sex, like using "little" as an adjective? this goes for both praise and punishment!

i know how frustrating it is for myself and many other disabled intersex people to either be fetishised or repulsing, but when interacting with people who are genuinely attracted to you but aren't experienced in having sex with little people, do you prefer to talk about things extensively beforehand or take things as they come?

Hello! I personally am rather kinky, and I find the kink community and it's fashion to be very accessible! I often have to go online for plus sizes and particular interests, but overall I find it very inclusive, apart from the obvious objectification that I face. I've found kink to be a useful tool to reclaim my own body and even process my trauma!

I am actually not intersex, but I do identify as both transgender and nonbinary. I was assigned female at birth, and have undergone top surgery and hormone therapy (testosterone). My gender expression is very fluid, but leans mostly on the femme side. I for sure feel that my gender identity and disability both equally affect the way I approach and enjoy sex! They both affect the sex positions I choose as well as my personal preferences, and as an inter sectional marginalized person, I am definitely more cautious when choosing sexual partners.

2. if you do like dirty talk, are there common phrases or words that you prefer to avoid during sex, like using "little" as an adjective? this goes for both praise and punishment!

With the right partner, I do enjoy dirty talk, and adjectives like "little" really depend on the dynamic and situation. For the most part I'm not a huge fan of "little" or "small" with sexual partners I haven't built a good rapport with, but with some I can find it reclaiming.

3. when interacting with people who are genuinely attracted to you but aren't experienced in having sex with little people, do you prefer to talk about things extensively beforehand or take things as they come?

Great question! I much prefer to discuss things thoroughly beforehand, to set the standard for my boundaries during the sexual encounter. I see not being able to talk about sex or my disability as a red flag, so this is also a good way to wean people out. It's important to me that my sexual partners understand and embrace my disability, know my physical limitations, and can keep communication open all along the way.

I honestly love the clothing styles of each of the turtles in this show and I love how these styles really incorporate their personalities as well.

Like, obviously Donnie has the best sense of style, yeah? Think that’s something pretty agreed upon here. Everything we see him put together is very meticulously crafted and clean. That goes with his personality because Donnie is a very meticulous person in general, and he knows what he likes very, very well, and knows how to flaunt it in turn. Him commenting on colors he enjoys or disapproving of outfits that the others see no problem with also shows how he just generally has an eye for this kind of thing. He doesn’t just know what looks good on himself, but also what looks good on others - and I think this ties into his love of gift giving too. Donnie also has a flair for making sure that his things have his “mark” on them, and his clothing is no exception. All that he wears and how he wears them screams “Donnie.”

Mikey is really fun because his styles are honestly a pendulum between super simplistic and incredibly out there. And often, you’re going to see a lot of color or patterns to both. And in my opinion I think that all reflects really well on Mikey’s character - he’s got a colorful personality but even more than that he’s incredible sure of who he himself is. Mikey’s style, I feel, is less what looks good as clothes and more what sparks joy in Mikey himself. His bright stickers he wears are a testament of that! He’s comfortable in his own skin and his style reflects this perfectly, whether he goes for a more out-there look or a more toned down one.

Now, for Leo. Okay, I think I’m actually in the minority here I feel because Leo’s style isn’t really that bad? Hear me out- if you actually look at what he wears, try taking out, like, one accessory. Suddenly, that outfit works! He even manages to put together many good outfits in the series, but his “bad” ones are the ones that tend to stand out, alas (just like how his mistakes tend to be big ones oop-) Basically, my personal look at him is not that he’s inept at styling at all, but that he has a “too much” gene. And like everyone else, this sense of style is completely like him, too. Going too far to impress when all he needed to do was slow it down some to think things through. (And funnily enough, a lot of his outfits take random aspects from his brothers too - “nothing without them” huh?)

For Raph, I feel bad for him since pretty much all of his clothes are inevitably going to be ripped, but he makes them work pretty much each time. Like Leo, Raph tends to go more sporty with his looks, but I also noticed that his stuff often goes in that in between of comfy, cool, and cute. His pajama suit in particular comes to mind in terms of “cute” as it’s more something you’d see younger children in rather than older kids, and I think it can be a subtle nod to the fact that for all Raph tries to seem older, he’s still just a kid too.

I could probably go on, but these are just all off the top of my head - I love how the boys’ personality’s come out in so many different ways.

in-universe "logistics" aside, i think it's good that echo has the permanent scomp arm instead of a hand for like. real-world representation reasons.

in star wars sure they have fully articulated replacement prosthetics but we very much don't have that in real life, and i feel like echo with the scomp is good rep for that. he's one of the most competent characters and i think it's good to show that he can do All That as he is, especially with how irl people with only one hand usually are very capable, even more if they've been living with it for a long time, and very rarely do we see that in media.

I keep thinking of that reply in my Odysseus/Agamemnon post about how I regard differently Odysseus' and Agamemnon's actions, while acknowledging that at times Agamemnon is written as a sweet man and Odysseus is always straight up shitty, and how it was taken as some sort of defense for Agamemnon and as a form of pointing out the double standard; and that wasn't at all what the post was about for me, even though I can see where they were coming from. To be honest, given I didn't imagine it would spread anywhere other than my own blog, I didn't explain myself very well (or at all).

The fact is that when I talked about Odysseus not caring about hurting someone else's child to start and end a war I was indeed comparing his actions to Agamemnon's, but my words about supporting Odysseus' wrongs and cheering him in his terrible actions, while in a joking tone, weren't entirely a joke. I do think that Odysseus does some very shitty acts, and some quite terrible ones depending on the sources. That's a fact, that he does is at the core of his characterisation and it's what makes him so much fun; but not even when he is at his most cruel does he harm his family, his own son. Agamemnon, while sweet and loving at times in some texts, at his worst is willing to sacrifice Iphigenia. When readers regard with more sympathy Odysseus over Agamemnon despite both being responsible for children dying, I don't think there's a double standard in this aspect at all considering it's never his own kid Odysseus harms. And that's the key, I think.

Odysseus and Agamemnon have very different priorities, a very different view on loyalty and duty. It could be said that Agamemnon acts out of selfishness, but it could also be read in a kinder light, saying that Agamemnon is ruled by the gods first, and by his role as head of the achaeans; Agamemnon is not entirely himself. In opposition we see Odysseus acting perhaps mainly for himself and his own family and men; yes, he is a king, but he has not the role Agamemnon has. As a consequence, Agamemnon submits his family's wellbeing to the war, to the gods, while Odysseus stops the plow before hurting Telemachus but is (depending on the source) the cause of Iphigenia's sacrifice and Astyanax's death.

Both Odysseus and Agamemnon have reasons to support their actions, and both can be sympathised with; it's fiction after all. When it comes to fiction, at the end of the day which character a reader is drawn to or sympathises with is mainly an issue of personal taste, but I suppose it also implies a certain level of one's own views or preferences on morals, what makes us find certain actions more justifiable, or tasteful (perhaps that's a more accurate word), than others. Agamemnon sacrificing his daughter, no matter how sympathetic or understandable the reason, generally sits worse on people than Odysseus doing the same with someone else's kids, because they're someone else's. This different emotional reaction they provoke has place not just metanarratively, but also inside the very story; it is narratively significant, given it determines how their arrival home plays out, how their wives react to them, and thus their futures. Ultimately it determines whether they live or die.

I think both terrible acts go in line wonderfully with each characterisation, showcasing the role they hold in their world, what they value, what they care for, what they're willing to sacrifice for themselves and the others, how much of their own they're willing to give and bend. While looking at the wider picture it could perhaps be drawn that Agamemnon is the better person out of the two, but Odysseus' selfish actions are perhaps easier to empathise with, especially from a modern viewpoint. Odysseus is treacherous and prone to betrayal, but not against his own; Agamemnon follows the rules of the gods. How fitting in that context that Odysseus doesn't die at the end of his story, that he cheats the death heroes so often are fated to, almost as if cheating the narrative itself, bending the rules of the world he is ascribed to; how fitting in the context of those texts that point towards Sisyphus being his father. But that's another topic, and I've already talked a lot.

#Don't get me wrong. Odysseus is super shitty and this is a 'pick your poison' kind of situation #But I don't really think there's a double standard when it comes to the kids situation given that Odysseus doesn't sacrifice his own kid #I really think that's what lies at the core of this. Does that make him shittier and more selfish and a worse person? Actually yeah perhaps #But we are no kings with thousands of people depending on our decision yet cringe at the idea of hurting people close to us #It feels like betrayal. And this is where the moral preference takes the role. Which do you prefer? The one that would betray their family #for the greater good or the one who'd sell the world for their family and themselves? It's interesting because #while in fiction the first option is often the most frown upon while selfish actions for the beloved are easy to sympathise with‚ #in reality these are usually worse regarded. I didn't want to go there because I already wrote so much it didn't fit in the tags #but I actually think the same thing happens with Galahad/Lancelot. Heathcliff/Edgar I'd say has a somewhat similar situation going on #There are many many examples but mainly I was thinking of Galahad and Lancelot #So this is not an 'Odysseus did nothing wrong'. This is an 'Odysseus did many things very wrong but he didn't kill his son #so while both him and Agamemnon were the cause of death of kids‚ their action are not the same so there's no double standard regarding #the particular action of sacrificing Iphigenia. In fiction that kind of betrayal makes characters often unlikeable' #I guess that action 'stains' the view under which Agamemnon's actions are seen and so his character is often seen under a darker light #He is presented a bit as an antagonistic presence opposed to Achilles who is very popular so I guess that also influences this? #Anyway I've been elated by the musical causing Odysseus art and posts but I do have noticed that he is very goodified in it and that #it has influenced how he is being regarded around here (the way it happened with The Song of Achilles as well I suppose) #And I must say I like that less. He is shitty in a fun way but not in a light way. He is very shitty #Definitely not better than Agamemnon depending on the perspective you take. I can't believe I'm 'defending' Agamemnon #He is not my thing at all I'm all for selfish actions for oneself and the loved ones through manipulation‚ #lies and scams and letting the world drown if needed. In fiction Lancelot's‚ Odysseus' and Heathcliff's actions are a lot more preferible #to me than Galahad's‚ Agamemnon's and Edgar's. How do mutants in the Facility live?

One of the most frequent types of questions I get are about life in the Facility. So it seems like a good topic to start my loredumping series with! 

Apologies in advance for all the photo examples, I hope they work fine for getting the vibes across.

Overview

The facility dome is visible in the distance.

The facility in general – or, as it’s officially known, the Zh. I. Alferov National Institute of Anomalous Research – is a large structure located on the border of the Zone. Its most notable feature is the massive dome surrounded by an outside wall.

The wall. In real life, the famous building of НИЦЭВТ.

The latter is a building in itself, containing offices, lecture halls, resting and dining quarters for researchers, as well as minor labs. All entrances are supervised, though not totally closed off to the public. Excursions, official meetings, TV reports – all of those happen within the wall.

But you will not find any mutants here. As you may have already guessed, all the major laboratories, anomalous artefacts, and, of course, mutants are housed in the dome. The entrances to the dome are monitored and equipped with anomaly scanners, allowing only authorised personnel and mutants to travel between its sectors.

Mutants cannot traverse the facility unsupervised.

What is the mutant classification system?

Depending on their anomalous characteristics, cooperability and method of containment, mutants are sorted into types and numbered groups. Individual mutant numbers usually look like XT000-000.

Let’s use Dmitry as an example.

Dima’s serial number is DT001-319.

The type constitutes the first part of the mutant’s number. Dima’s mutation is Directional Type, hence the letters DT at the start (for the record, KT stands for Kernel Type).

Next we have the 00X number. Mutants are assigned a 001, 002, 003 or 004 class depending on the potency and containability of their mutation – kinda like SCPs, yeah. Dima has a very powerful mutation he has good control over, plus he is sound of mind, making him suitable for 001 containment.

The last three digits are the overall number of the mutant within their type. So if Dima’s are 319, the facility has had 318 directional-type mutants on record prior to his arrival. This does not mean they were as powerful or had the same level of control over their telekinesis, just that they possessed a similar mutation to some extent.

How do different mutant classes live?

001

001 quarters example. Not too different from a hospital or sanatorium

Subjects ranked as 001 are extremely powerful, have good control over their powers and are, most importantly, docile. Since their mutations are very potent and difficult to forcefully contain, the go-to approach is making them not want to leave.

001s spend most (if not all) of their conscious lives surrounded by doctors. The latter foster a particular mindset in their subjects, where the world outside is presented as a place that is unanimously hostile to mutants. This is done by means of propaganda, reminders about their family’s supposed mistreatment and, in case a mutant has some favourable recollections of their childhood, gaslighting. Additionally, subjects are never left alone with each other.

001s get very luxurious treatment by facility's standards, with much bigger, more comfortable rooms than other mutant types. They're even allowed to have gaming consoles, TVs with VHS and video players, and their own bookshelves. Each mutant has their own separate room, which is kept under constant camera surveillance with the toilet being the only blind spot.

Special folders are issued to 001s before experiments with lower-ranked mutants.

Experiments held on 001s are relatively humane so as not to discourage them from staying at the facility. They do undergo daily checkups mostly designed to monitor their mental state. 001s are also active participants in experimentation on lower-ranked mutants, who they are taught and encouraged to treat as lesser beings.

001s are a high-risk investment, so their numbers are far smaller than those of 002 and 003-class mutants. Additionally, because of the potential danger they present, the institute is quick to dispose of 001 subjects by either termination or reclassification to 004. Though, if a 001 manages to stay cooperative long-term, they can become a very valuable asset for the facility.

002 and 003

002 and 003 quarters example. Though, they’re typically not as well-kept

002 and 003 mutant classes can be grouped together, since their treatment is largely the same. Both of these types’ mutations are easy to forcibly contain. The difference is their danger levels. 003s require close monitoring to not be harmful to others, while 002s are borderline harmless. Both types are characterised by general cooperability.

002s live in wards for 2 to 4 people, while 003s are more commonly placed in single-person wards to prevent accidents. A standard room includes a bed, a desk and a small bathroom (multiple beds and two desks in bigger wards).

Mutants are allowed to borrow books from the library, as well as get drawing and writing materials. If they behave well, they can get a toy or even be lent a handheld console for a few days. 

002s and 003s have breakfasts, lunches and dinners together, and can spend some time in the playroom with other mutants (that’s also where they can play computer games and watch TV) – all under very strict surveillance, of course.

In some ways, their treatment is much less cruel than that of the elite 001 subjects.

Though, not when it comes to experiments. 002s and 003s are very common, and are thus treated as disposable material in a scientific sense. The people holding experiments on them are a lot less concerned with minimising the subject’s pain or discomfort. Consequently, it’s not uncommon for mutants of these classes to sustain serious injuries or die as a result of experimentation.

That said, 002s have the highest likelihood of getting released from the facility, given they meet the conditions for it (more on that below).

004

004 quarters example. Basically a prison bunker

004 is a special category reserved for powerful mutants that refuse or physically cannot cooperate. This number can also be issued as a temporary or permanent punishment to misbehaving mutants. The 004 quarters are located underground and have the highest level of security, acting as a sort of bunker for the most dangerous subjects the facility has.

004 rooms are even more barebones than those of 002 and 003s. They have no access to entertainment (unless it is somehow required to contain their mutation) and cannot leave their room under any circumstances. They are more weapons than test subjects.

Do mutants receive education?

All mutants from class 003 and above receive basic education, learning to read, write and count. They additionally get curated history and sociology lessons. Some mutants, namely 001s, attend mandatory classes in certain disciplines to better apply their mutation. For example, Dmitry studied anatomy to know the precise positioning of internal organs.

Mutants are also free to study whatever sciences interest them in their free time by asking for educational materials at the library. Needless to say, most kids aren’t too interested in that, and are very uneducated compared to their outside peers.

Is there censorship in the facility?

All the media mutants are exposed to at the facility is strictly controlled.

The only movies, cartoons, comics, books and games allowed are those that either don't feature the Zone or mutants at all, those that show the discrimination mutants face outside, or those that are very obvious anti-mutant propaganda.

In essence, there are no positive depictions of human-to-mutant interaction, aside from ones between mutants and noble scientists. And, of course, nothing that goes against the general government ideology.

Can mutants be released from the facility?

It is generally assumed that mutants that go into the dome do not come out.

While they are largely dehumanised, the facility is still publicly presented as a sort of scientific sanatorium and hospice for those that cannot safely exist in society. Releasing mutants that know the truth behind the institute’s experiments into the wild is simply of no benefit to the government. So the majority are terminated once their scientific potential is exhausted or if they become too expensive to contain. As a result, few mutants live to adulthood.

Though, there are exceptions to the rule. Occasionally, mutants deemed non-hazardous can be released back into society. This is applicable to mutants that have not experienced significant mistreatment from the facility, lack the ability to talk about their experiences and optimally have been brainwashed by an appropriate 001 subject.

Have other mutants before DT and KT ever escaped?

The funny thing is, escapes aren’t a particularly rare occurrence.

Despite getting a lot of funding, the facility itself is very disorganised. Most of the money is blatantly pocketed by the higher-ups, so a lot of its structures and equipment are subpar – this includes its outdated safety systems. To top it all off, the security staff isn’t especially well-paid, so their diligence is highly questionable.

With all that piling up, there are around 3 cases of low-level escapes every year. Because of tight budgets and plenty of work to do as is, these escapes are generally brushed under the rug. The institute still keeps tabs on the escapees in case they happen to show up on the radar, but it rarely organises active searches or alerts the public for that matter.

DT and KT’s escape stood out because it was anything but low-level, and pretty bombastic at that. But even that didn’t warrant a public announcement for fear of panic and reputational damage. So if you’re an 003 mutant looking for an opportunity to sneak out… Hell, man, just go for it.

Summary: Oscar is always watching y/n. He loves her and he knows she loves him too. She just doesn't know it yet.

Themes/warnings: Stalking, kidnapping (I know I'm overusing it for these dark fics, but like...I just wanna be kidnapped by one of these drivers 👉👈🥺), so ofc Stockholm syndrome, restraints, manipulation, very brief attempted and failed attempt at escape

Norris!reader 😱 (here's your curveball)

Lando growing up close to one of his cousins really makes sense. The fact he may have used his position to get his favourite cousin a job as one of the team's photographer's makes sense.

Oddly despite her constant interactions with her cousin and also taking pictures of Oscar. She doesn't notice the quiet Aussie's infatuation with her. Lando, thankfully, doesn't notice it either. Or Oscar thinks he might really be in trouble.

Of course y/n doesn't notice that when she's distracted or just not looking, he captures pictures and videos and he takes mental notes of her quirks and habits.

Oscar has just never felt the way he does towards y/n before.

He knows she must feel it. She's definitely hiding feelings for him too. Y/n just wants to be respectful to Lando and not cross a line with his teammate. But there must be a way around it?

"What you always hiding on that phone? I feel like I have to break into it one day." Y/n jokes as she captures some photos of him, during which he places his phone down, screen against the table before she sits down with him. "Hiding something in particular?"

"No." Oscar shrugs trying to sound as unbothered as y/n should suspect him to be.

Y/n smiles brightly at him before she picks up her camera snapping a couple more pics of the driver.

"Want to see for approval?"

"Yeah." Oscar laughs managing not to be a complete creep by making this whole interaction awkward as hell like he wants to instinctually.

Y/n smiles showing him the photos which he smiles at and nods in approval of.

"Oh-Oh my gosh, also I almost forgot. Apparently we're travelling back to England together since my lovely bizillionaire cousin is going back to Monaco." Y/n states with a bright smile.

A light bulb might as well brighten Oscar's eyes from the way an idea instantly pings into his mind.

An opportunity to strike has never been so perfect. She'll never know she handed it to him on a platter.

"I'll get to tell you all about Lando's embarrassing moments from childhood. He'll never live it down." Y/n grins earning a smile from the driver. "He was a proper brat."

"That is no surprise to me." Oscar laughs lightly.

If y/n hadn't already made sure she next to Oscar for the flight, the Oscar had secured the seat next to her.

His method of winning her over is definitely successful by his standards. She's laughing, smiling and doing that thing when she seems to find anyway reason to touch him.

At some point she does settle down enough to end up falling asleep, and is completely unaware of Oscar capturing pictures of her looking so peaceful.

He's never seen her asleep from such a close position.

She's so angelic.

By the time the time they land, Oscar has plotted and schemed enough too feel confident about carrying out his plan. It helps that her disappearance will run alongside the summer break, it's as if she knew his plan.

Clearly their connection is stronger than he thought.

"Y/n, you need to wake up." Oscar states as they land. "We're landing soon, figured you'd want to wake up properly before we actually have to get up."

"Aww...that's sweet of you." Y/n yawns then rubbing her eyes a little as smiles lazily at him. "Did you sleep?"

"Yeah, only a little though." Oscar lies since he didn't sleep at all. He just spent the whole time looking at her.

"You're much nicer to fly with than Lando. He tells me to shut up and then jabs me in the ribs when I say no." Y/n laughs before yawning and a little.

"Do you want a ride home by the way?" Oscar asks making her raise her eyebrows then grin.

"That'd be great actually. Do you just keep your car at the airport?" Y/n giggles before she tilts her head at him.

"Only when I know it's only one weekend between being back here." Oscar shrugs making her hum.

Y/n grins as she makes herself very much at home in Oscar's passenger seat.

"You provide a very good service." Y/n jokes as she reclines the seat back.

With y/n having stamped her address into the sat nav and Oscar having muted it, she had no idea that he was ignoring it and when she fell asleep from the sensation of being on the move. He used it very much to his advantage.

Oscar ends up pulling up to his place and leaving her to sleep in the car for a bit while he makes sure getting her into his place is the smoothest move. He definitely doesn't want to have to hurt her to make her comply.

It won't come to that. She loves him.

Y/n hardly stirs when he lifts her from the passenger seat, Oscar manages to get her inside and onto his bed. A smile gracing his face as he looks at her for a moment then he sighs, almost pained to have to restrain her but he really can't take the risk of her not making this an easy job.

Oscar smiles to himself then getting up and leaving her to sleep.

He'd actually think he'd drugged her from how heavily she seems to be sleeping. No regard for her own safety really. She's lucky it's Oscar here, or someone less trusting could really have hurt her.

It's about an hour later than he hears shifting around, a heavy thud and screaming for help.

Oh dear.

Oscar rushes to his room, wanting to comfort her and reassure her again.

"Hey, hey. It's ok. It's alright, let's get you up." Oscar soothes picking her up from where she'd clearly struggled around till landing on the floor, off of the bed.

"Oscar? What's going on? What's this about?" Y/n panics seeming somewhat comforted by him but very much confused. "Oscar?"

"Are you hungry?" Oscar asks since he'd been making some food.

"Hun-gry?" Y/n chokes out too confused to understand what the hell is going on. "Why am I handcuffed to a bed? What is happening?"

"Calm down, I just had to make sure you were secure?"

Y/n looks at him stunned her brain finally clicks things together and she's silenced.

"I'm sorry, I know this isn't how things normally go. But I just couldn't let you go." Oscar states with a small smile while she blinks at him almost looking void.

No tears. No emotion. Just a blank expression.

"I know it's a lot to take in. But I love you and I just need time to make sure you know that." Oscar explains then sighing. "We're going to be happy together."

"Oscar, you can't do this." Y/n whispers swallowing thickly, her voice cautious and calm. "This isn't how you do this. You can't."

"Shh...you just need time to get used to the idea." Oscar soothes making her bite her lip. "You don't know it yet, but I promise you. You'll realise you love me too."

"You know...whatever you've been making. It smells good. I am kind of hungry." Y/n admits with a small smile.

"I'll grab you some."

Y/n smiles nodding and managing to refrain from flinching when he makes the bold move of kissing her.

A few hours ago, had he asked her on a date. She would've agreed. She would've probably bragged about it and rubbed it in Lando's face.

This isn't the man she spent the flight talking to, is it? The man who is a quiet but confident type that she's been taking pictures of all year? It can't be him.

He brings her back a pasta dish and smiles handing her the bowl.

The cuffs aren't so restrictive that she can't feed herself.

"Thank you."

Y/n feels her heart thudding, going a mile a minute as she tries to move as little as possible. Oscar asleep behind her as she manages to unlock the buckle on the cuffs.

It took one mistake of leaving the keys in the room for her to jump at the opportunity. But she had to wait.

Y/n tries everything to keep everything as silent as possible. Though she's really struggling with her breathing as adrenaline surges through her body, trying to make her run.

Standing up when her hands are free she places the keys on the bed for the most minimal noise and then she creeps to the door, keeping her eyes on Oscar at all times.

She's almost out the door when she gasps, her world flipping as she thuds on the ground, smacking her head. But her brain doesn't have time to comprehend the pain spreading through her as she scrambles.

"Y/n?" Oscar calls, almost in a chillingly calm as she tries to navigate the unfamiliar space. "Hey!"

Y/n's head spins as the hit to her head really begins to set the, she slips a little feeling her body suddenly cold as she feels shock kick in from the pain.

Hands catch her from falling to the ground again, the touch being so hot compared to the rest of her body.

"See what happens?" Oscar sighs as she makes a weak attempt to fight him off. "Shh...It's ok. You're fine."

"No. Oscar, you have to let me go. I'll forgive you, but you have to let me go."

Oscar doesn't utter a word placing her back on the bed and sighing as he places her down, keeping her held tightly as he puts the cuffs on her again, slightly tighter this time and sighing as he moves her head.

"Ow. Ow. You're hurting me." Y/n hiccups as he moves her hair to try and assess the damage.

"I'm going to get you some ice." Oscar declares standing up and sighing. "You shouldn't hand done that."

Figuring out a way to cover up y/n's disappearance wasn't easy, it took some force. But Oscar managed to get her to call her parents telling them she was going to go offline for a bit and travel on her own without Lando.

He knows she's been talking about travelling on her own for a few months now. It's not out of character, though he's sure she is wished that wasn't the case.

He got her to send Lando a voice note explaining that she was going to take a break from joining him.

He demanded a bit more conversation and explanation, but she complied. Unhappily but she did.

It's nearly the end of the summer break and as the weeks have past, Oscar feels like they've made progress. Slow progress, but she is certainly proving that she can't keep up the front.

She accepts his hugs at night, she looks sad whenever he leaves for training or days the MTC. After 3 weeks he could trust her while he there without the cuffs.

Y/n sighs as she stretches out her limbs looking at the slow healing sores that Oscar has clearly tended to while she was asleep.

He's leaving today.

But he's successfully dampened her fight to escape.

Standing up she walks through to the kitchen, smiling as she finds him making himself breakfast. She's not much of a hot breakfast person. So he's got into the habit of getting her coco pops (anyone else's guilty pleasure having cereal at night? sm better than for breakfast) as soon as she's up and awake.

They'd become almost...domestic.

A concerning thought, but y/n finds quite a bit of comfort in it.

She can't help herself.

"Morning." Y/n greets moving up behind him and hating how much she enjoys wrapping her arms around him and resting her head on his back between his shoulders.

"Morning." Oscar smiles with a small laugh. "Coco pops?"

"Please." Y/n mumbles then swallowing. "What time do you leave again?"

"A few hours." Oscar hums as she moves around to sit down and he moves to sit down at the break bar on the island. "I'd bring you with me, but I think you're better staying here."

They have to keep the story.

"Yeah, I mean you're not gone for long." Y/n confirms knowing even if she'd rather not be locked in his apartment. She still knows there's a fine line that she's walking on.

Oscar's trust is precarious and he loves her. She knows that. She really does and she doesn't want to lose it because in a way she can't possibly explain. It means something to her. Not just in a means of getting out of there but in a way of wanting his trust just in the sense of a relationship.

Y/n spent months stuck in doors. Months waiting till Oscar would finally release her.

It had been months of no one but Oscar.

She is entirely his. Mind, body and soul.

Perhaps if he mistreated her (beyond the initial captivity against her) then she could try to force herself to see him in a different light. But he treats her like a goddess.

But today is the day she's back in the world. She's travelled with him to COTA after the second season break which has been introduced as a result of the longer calendar.

She's not entirely sure if Lando has been worried, Oscar has let her speak to her parents just enough to keep their worries of her safety at bay.

"Lando will fuss, you know?" Y/n states earning a look from Oscar as he drives into the parking lot.

"I know. But I'm not exactly threatened by your cousin." Oscar smiles while handing her phone to her which is really almost a foreign object by this point. "I'd rather you kept away from other people though."

Ah the boundaries he'd briefly mentioned he'd ask of her as a matter of conditions for her to come with him this time. She follows those conditions and she gets to essentially continue with her freedom.

Y/n looks walks around with her hand linked to Oscar as if they're glued together.

"Y/n Norris...Our photography has not been the same since you disappeared." Zak comments earning a small laugh. "The boys haven't been the same either. Especially Lando. But maybe we know now why Oscar wasn't so hurt."

"Ahaha, yeah." Y/n laughs a lost a little nervous.

"Where is Lando?" Oscar asks making Zak puff out a breath and look at his assistant who quickly answers that Lando had not long since headed over to the garage.

Y/n smiles when Oscar immediately begins to lead them over to the McLaren garage and when Lando spots them walking in. He pauses for a brief moment before rushing towards his younger cousin.

"You fucking ever leave without warning again. I will make you swallow an air tag or surgically implant one just to track you down and make sure you can't do it again." Lando states and unknowingly he gives Oscar a bit of an idea. Not necessarily forcing her to swallow something or mutilate her to imbed one in her, but maybe fine a way to have an AirTag or some tracker on her at all times.

"Well I'm back and never better...and Oscar and I are...together."

"You are?" Lando frowns making her smile. "Really?"

"I'll pretend not to be offended, mate." Oscar comments from his spot a few feet away.

"I'm just being a good cousin. You're not a bad guy." Lando smiles as y/n moves back to Oscar who seemingly automatically hugs her back to himself. "Well you guys look good together, so I guess I'll get over it. But she better no disappear again and I better no find out that you were behind her disappearing in the first place."

It's a joke and they both laugh. But if only Lando know exactly what his favourite cousin had gone through before falling for Oscar.

he grew up in a place with very repressed ideas about sex and has a lot of fear about asserting his presence in situations

i think izutsumis gender/sexuality is entirely secondary in priorities to her body dysphoria. she has a lot of learning and acceptance 2 do before that kind of self discovery is on the docket and in my mind eschewing gender on some level is part of that. get sillay

Hey! Please feel free to ignore but you did say to ask you about masks :P the ones I've found that are multiple layers for max protection are really stiff, which squishes my face and leads to gaps. Do you have recommendations? Thanks!

I know that there's a lot of noise about elastomeric masks but for me they're a nonstarter because of the stiffness you talk about. I think it's important to understand that most of the 94-95 standard masks that actually meet that standard are going to be plenty good enough where most people are concerned. Is it possible to catch Covid with a mask on? Yes. I've done it.

Is it likely? No. I'm immune compromised. This isn't data, but our experience has been that a combination of masks, reasonable common sense and good filtration are enough that despite having a school-aged child, a husband who travels for conventions, and me, immune suppressed, with a college student living in our house, I have only had covid twice, the first time was an unfortunate collision of me going to a store at the wrong time where a clerk had both covid and the flu and gave them to me, and the other one involved a family member not using a mask at a public event while eating. Even then, when I caught covid and the flu at the same time and isolated immediately with filtration and everyone coming into my space being masked... not one other person in our house caught it, and when someone else caught it a year later, the only people who caught it were sharing sleeping spaces. Our roommates did not catch it, and everyone was masking from the moment of the first positive test. When my kid got half-assed about masking at school, he immediately got flu and strep at the same time. I pointed out that his lack of care about it could mean a lot of missed school for him and serious health impacts for both of us, and he started wearing a mask again, and did not get sick for the rest of the school year. He HATES the masks that go behind the head and wears Armbrust kn95 masks exclusively (dark blue, lol) And it's pretty clear that without the masks he was getting sick a lot and with he just...doesn't. He is wearing them all day except for lunch through full school days, so that says something. Armbrust will send little behind the head doohickies to keep them off the ears but he never uses them. At $2ish per mask they're not the cheapest but he uses one mask for multiple days so it's not too bad overall cost wise. They have kid sizing, but he's in the regular adult size now at 11. Now, I'll talk about Armbrust for a minute because I really like the company. On pretty much every mask they sell you'll see a video of one of their people reviewing the mask and going over testing data... but they ALSO have reviews of almost every other mask on the market, bad, good and in between, and if you find a mask on Amazon or something and want to know more about it, search the mask name and "armbrust" and the youtube video and product data page will pop up. I've found several special masks for very particular needs by looking through their database for combinations of breathability and shape that weren't even masks they sold. So if you are struggling, take a look at the database, eliminate "failed" masks, look for the ones that meet your needs and then watch the video to see what he says about them first. There are some VERY inexpensive masks out there that work very well, and some masks that are incredibly breathable or incredibly high filtration and a few unicorns that are both.

Now Hubby is okay with the same KN95 masks that our son likes but he exercises and his lungs get a little touchy sometimes so he needs maximum ease in breathing, so using that database I found Dr. Puri masks. Here's the Armbrust review. Here's the listing I found them on. Hubby LOVES them. He also prefers behind the ear. About $1.50 each.

I *hate* behind the ear with a hot hate, they bug me. But I can't just use one type of mask all the time because I have EDS and neck issues so pressure there can be awkward, plus I get short of breath sometimes anyway (history of pulmonary embolism that long predates covid) and I have sensory skin issues.

Bar none the most breathable mask I've ever tried, which also does not fog my glasses, is the Drager mask. These are soft, extraordinarily easy to breathe through, and have a unique strap that makes on/off very easy, and lets you pull the top strap and let it hang around your neck if needed. Unfortunately it has a VERY snug fit across the nose and leaves marks on my cheeks, or it would be perfect, but it's a good option, and possibly someone with a smaller face would have an easier time. These are possibly the best filtering and most breathable masks on the market, so for high risk situations this is the mask I would use. They filter 99.7% in testing. They're a little more expensive at about $1.25 per when I checked today. For a good intersection of fit and comfort, but a little less breathable, are the ACI N95 surgical respirator duckbills. These do not leave marks, don't fog much, good seal around the face, and the single most comfortable head strap I've ever seen. The fabric is very smooth, it is sensory good, but the breathability is not as high. It's not hard to breathe through, it's just not as easy as Drager or Dr. Puri. But... They could probably pass an N99 standard by Armbrust's testing, as they filter >99.4% of particulate, where the standard is 95%. These are also incredibly cheap. If you get their subscribe and save discount (you can do every 6 months) you can get 50 for $25, so 50 cents apiece.

All of these masks are pretty soft, easy to wear, and very good at what they do.

The TL:DR though.... The important thing is to find a mask that you will wear consistently and correctly every time you need it. A mask that hangs on your face and slips is not a good mask for you. A mask you hate so much you make excuses not to wear it is not a good mask for you. A mask that breaks easily or makes it hard to breathe so you end up taking it off is not a good mask. If what you have isn't working, there are LOTS of things that might.

Last Armbrust plug: THEY HAVE A SAMPLER PACK. You can buy a pack of a zillion different types and styles of mask and try a bunch! And order the one you like best! If you aren't sick, one sampler pack can be tried by the people in your household so everyone can figure out what works for them!

Also, I used to get sick very very often and now I just...don't. Not from contagious viruses, anyway. I don't understand why people are so cavalier about it. I've been sick less since 2020 than in any given six month period in my entire life. Despite being on immune suppressants.
