Just gonna put this out there (mostly in regards to Merthur) that I think some people fundamentally misunderstand Arthur Pendragon...(he’s way more loving and complex than he’s given credit for)

#merthur #merlin #like we know what he really means we know whats underneath everything #Arthur and feelings and expressing them...we all get it #but he is not an asshole he is not malicious and never has been #he would be the first to be mortified if he thought he ever hurt anyone #his dad was Uther ffs #Arthur never had the same values as his Dad even before Merlin's and other influence #and also Merlin himself always knew Arthur he saw the man beneath the facade #Arthur could be a prat yes #but he would never have seen Merlin executed for his magic he would never intentionally hurt Merlin #and the fact that all the sacrifices and things he has done and shown in how much he deeply cares (loves) Merlin #are sometimes forgotten #I dunno it gets kinda annoying #because if I thought a character was truly an asshole #then I wouldn't be invested in them #I love Arthur #I love merthur #also Arthur has always had that humour that teasing and sometimes inability to express himself #when he really opens up he has to cover it with a joke or something but it never works #he has shown more than enough to understand what he really feels
