Hey! I wanted to ask if you could do llittle oneshots on how we met the creepypastas?
How you met the Creepypastas
This is all one big one shot. The story continues with each character!✨
Includes: Slender Man, Masky, Hoody, Toby Rogers, BEN Drowned, Eyeless Jack, Jeff The Killer, Homicidal Liu, Jane The Killer and Nina The Killer
Slender Man💖
Slender Man came across you one day while you were on a walk in his woods. He stalked you from afar to see whether you were a threat to the mansion or not. But when you began to coo over a little injured bird you found, his suspicions were quickly debunked
Slender Man didn’t quite know why, but he actually let you leave the woods unharmed with your little birdie friend. Thinking that that was the end of it, he slowly turned towards the shadows, and back to his ‘family’
When you came back to the same spot a week later, you could’ve coloured him intrigued. Slender Man watched in secret awe as you held out the very same bird from then. Thanks to your care, it was now looking much better. It opened its wings wide and flew off into woods, leaving you with a sweet smile on your face
The smile soon fell though when Slender Man decided to show himself to you. Your eyes grew wide and your nose began to bleed. Your brain was plagued with a deafening static, as all you could focus on was that blank, faceless stare
You were his now
Masky💖
There were some rowdy teens camping a bit too close to the mansion for comfort. Slender Man decided to put his three best on a mission to ‘remove’ them. Masky, Hoody and Toby. You were the newbie of the mansion, and was instructed to come along with them for ‘training’
As you all hid behind some bushes a fair way from the teens, Toby bombarded you with questions. You were trying to be polite, smiling and nodding while struggling to keep up with his fast tone
“Leave them alone, Toby.” Masky snapped
Toby pouted behind his mask at the older man. You actually thought he was quite sweet, and wasn’t bothered by him at all
“It’s alright. He’s fine.” You smiled at Masky
You gently placed your hand on his arm, making his dark eyes snap immediately to it. They looked back up to meet your gaze, heat beginning to creep up his neck. You slowly slid your hand off Masky’s jacket sleeve and let your smile linger
Hoody💖
Hoody broke you away from Toby and Masky for a spell. He whispered your name, but got it wrong, and pulled you close, so you were both peeking over the bush. He pointed at the campsite up ahead, brainstorming on how to ambush the kids. You simply sat back and listened, trying to learn his dastardly tricks. You also kind of liked being close to this stranger, his yellow hoodie was quite soft against your side
Hoody said your name incorrectly again, then asked if you were ready to strike. You couldn’t help but giggle at his error, finding it more cute than awkward
“Actually, it’s,” you said your actual name, correcting him. “But you were close.”
Hoody gave a quiet chuckle along with your hushed giggles. “I’m sorry.” He whispered back
“It’s no problem, Ryan.” You grinned
“Oh, actually, it’s—! Oh, wait.”
Hoody was about to say his name was Brian, but he then caught on that you were playing with him. You struggled to keep your laughter quiet, your shoulders shaking as you beamed at the man
“Nice to meet you.”
Toby Rogers💖
Toby squeezed in between you and Hoody’s moment, getting his orange goggles right in your grill
“I’m Toby!” He exclaimed
Hoody and Masky both shushed him, but you thought it was funny
“Nice to meet you, Toby.”
Toby giggled, looking back and forth at the two other men. “I like em’, guys! They’re cute. Slendy was right picking this one!” He rambled
Masky shushed him again, while Hoody got up to get closer to the doomed campsite
“Thank you, Toby.” You smiled bashfully at the boy
Masky got caught up with the actual mission, and he snuck into the shadows with Hoody. While they were dealing with the pesky teenagers, you kept watch with Toby
“You’re real pretty too! Where—where’re you from?” He asked, leaning in close to you
Your face flushed bright red, and you looked away shyly. Toby’s tinted goggles stared into your soul, but with good intent. You were right before. He was sweet
“Well…” you started
BEN Drowned💖
You returned to Slender’s mansion after your first ‘mission’, and flopped down onto the couch. There wasn’t a soul in sight. You flipped through some boring tv channels for a good while, before you spotted an old game console by the coffee table. You slipped off the couch and sat on the carpet, inspecting the console and its dusty controllers
“Hey.” A voice suddenly said
With a shriek, you whipped your eyes up to the tv, where you saw BEN Drowned peaking out of the screen. You threw yourself back onto the floor and clutched your heart
“Gah!”
BEN cringed at your outburst, reaching more of his body out of the tv. “Whoops. Didn’t mean to scare ya that bad.” The corner of his lip quirked up into an amused smirk
Your chest heaved, your hand gripping it through your shirt. “Well, ya did.” You sassed, rising up into a seated position
BEN chuckled. “Sorry,” he shrugged
You were just inches away, him looking down at you from the tv, and you gazing up at him from the floor
“So who are you supposed to be?” You blurted out
BEN yanked himself fully from the tv, sitting crosslegged in front of you. He was definitely… quirky. Them big red eyes dripping blood and all… you had ran into many creepy people since Slender Man took you in here
“BEN.” He stuck his hand out for you to shake. “And you are…?”
Eyeless Jack💖
After wrapping up your chat, BEN disappeared back within the tv screen, seemingly into one of the console’s old games. Just as you stood from the floor, you were scared out of your skin once again when the front door was ripped open. Jeff The Killer bursted through, clutching his bloody side
You hadn’t met this boy yet, but ran over to his aid regardless. You snaked an arm around his shoulder and guided him down to the basement, where you were told an infirmary was
Upon entering the dim infirmary, you and the injured Jeff were greeted by none other than Eyeless Jack. He slowly tilted his head to side, ‘eyeing’ you curiously
“You need to help him. He’s hurt!” You yelped
Without another word, Jack took Jeff off your hands, forcing him over to a hospital bed to dress his wounds. You watched worriedly from the sidelines, getting peeks here and there of him patching up what looked like a stab wound in Jeff’s side
After a little while, Jack finished mending the other boy and left him to rest, walking up to you instead
“Thank you for bringing him down here.” Jack said, giving you a polite nod
You mimicked his action, nodding back to him shyly. “It’s no worries. Why wouldn’t I?” You giggled nervously
“You must be the newcomer. I don’t believe we’ve met. My name is Jack. Pleasure to meet you.” Jack formally introduced himself
He stuck out a gloved hand, and you shook it cheerfully
“Nice to meet you, Jack.” You smiled, and then told him your own name
Jeff The Killer💖
Jack left you and Jeff alone, going into the other room to clean his tools. You shuffled over to the hospital bed Jeff sat on, telling him your name with a gentle smile
“Are you okay now?” You added
The killer grunted, running a pale hand over his stitched up side. You couldn’t help but admire his lean build
“I’m fine.” Jeff muttered, dropping his hoodie back over his belly
“Okay, that’s good.” You squeaked, fiddling with your hands as the air grew thick
He kept his eyes adverted from yours for a few moments, before sighing begrudgingly. “I’m Jeff... thanks for the help, kid.” He grumbled
You were no kid, but you let it slide because you could tell it was very hard for him to say. Some boys were so stubborn…
“You’re welcome, Jeff.” You cooed sweetly
Jeff looked away from you again, fighting back a blush on his deathly white face. Something in his eyes twinkled. He seemed to like the way you spoke to him. He liked to feel cared for, maybe even mothered sometimes…
Maybe having you around from now on wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world
Homicidal Liu💖
The next morning, you wandered the spooky halls of Slender Man’s mansion
“Hey,” you heard a boy say from behind you
You whipped around, half expecting BEN, only to be greeted with a new face. A new stitched up face, that was
“I heard about what you did for my brother last night. How you took him to Jack and all.” The boy trailed
“You’re Jeff’s brother?” You asked with a head tilt
He nodded, “yeah. Thanks for looking out for him.”
You gave you him your friendliest of smiles, nodding back curtly. “No worries.” You beamed
Jeff’s brother stared at you, before catching himself and quickly breaking the silence. “I’m Liu, by the way. Liu Woods.” He blurted out
“Hey there, Liu.” You giggled
Jane The Killer💖
You found Jeff downstairs, arguing with Jane The Killer. You attempted to walk past unnoticed, but she called out to you
“You’re the one that saved Jeff’s butt? The newbie?” Jane asked
You gritted your teeth before turning around, facing the two killers. “Uh, yeah. I am, I guess.” You shrugged
Jeff quickly butted in, glaring daggers into the girl. “I was fine by myself. I didn’t need any help.” He snapped at her, his pride clearly stung
Since Jane’s eyes were all black, you couldn’t tell, but she rolled them with a snarky laugh. Jeff stormed off grumbling, leaving you two as he went to sulk in his room
“My name is Jane. What’s yours?” She asked
You were so entranced by her beautiful, feminine looks. You had to give your mind a few seconds to process her question, before stammering out your own name
“I’m new.” You added lamely
Jane chuckled, thinking you were cute. “See you around, sweetie. I’d be careful if I were you.” She left her black lips ajar as she winked at you, before turning away and around a corner
Nina The Killer💖
As you entered the living room, you were practically ambushed by a certain brightly dressed girl
“Hi!” The moment Nina The Killer spotted you across the way, she was skipping over to you excitedly. “You’re the newbie, right?” She giggled
You opened your mouth to reply. “Yeah, I’m—!”
Nina interrupted you, blurting out your name in a singsong tone. “I’ve heard about you! You helped Jeff last night!” She exclaimed
Word really did catch on. Especially in this mansion filled with… what I guessed you could’ve called… ‘outcasts’
“Yeah…” you trailed
“I love your hair!” Nina squealed. (Extra points if you had your hair dyed a bright colour). “It’s really pretty!”
Your heart warmed at her sweet nature. Even though she was… clearly different. Much like Jeff, Nina had herself a cut in smile as well. Alas, you shoved down any ill feelings and gave her a bashful grin
“Thanks! I like yours too.”

His songwriting and musical abilities have made him a legend in his own right and he also plays with this little group called Queen. He floats across the stage in Zandra Rhodes while delivering heavy riffs, then switches to self-harmonizing in as light and fae a manner as you could wish." helloo may i request smut prompt 39 and 50 for roger?
39. “You want it rough huh?”
50. “Jealousy seems to be a great motivator for you.”
Tumblr media
"And that's what the theory is about, kind of boring, I know, but I find it incredible," Brian said with a shrug as he took another sip of his beer.
You were almost with your mouth open, brain a little confused by all the information you ingested, "That's bloody amazing," you gasped, "Truly I have no words, how do you know all that?" you asked curiously, very involved in the topic of conversation that you were having with Brian for almost 1 hour.
But you were so focused on his explanation that you didn't notice Roger's penetrating eyes at the other end of the small table they were sharing with the boys.
For the record, you and Roger are not officially in a relationship, just something that started as a one-night stand but turned into a recurring thing, you both have a lot in common and the sex is amazing, his company is too, but you are taking things too lightly, I mean, you're not interested in other guys at the moment but sometimes conversations with Brian get so deep and interesting that you basically forget about everyone in the room, and apparently, Roger can't deal with the lack of attention, no when it comes to you, he wants your eyes on him.
"Fuck," Roger huffed, looking at the empty cigarette box, "Y/n do you have a cigarette? I got empty" he told you with a chuckled as he threw the empty box on the table.
Brian was talking to you but you heard Roger's words, you automatically went through your jacket pockets, grabbing a cigarette and tossing it gently across the table until it reached his hands, "There you go honey," you said normally, you glanced at him for a single second and you smirked at him, returning your eyes to Brian.
Roger took the cigarette, realizing he didn't have your attention. While lighting the cigarette he put his eyes over the situation that was in front of him, Brian and you with cheeky smiles, giggling, sharing drinks, even from his point of view you were closer to him than you normally are, and he don't know why but he thinks you are wearing a low cut blouse.
He can't stop this wave of intrusive and annoying thoughts he's having, he didn't even notice that his leg won't stop shaking under the table. he takes control over his body when he sees that you got up from the table, apologizing to Brian and saying that you'd be back in a second.
He can't take his eyes off you, he looks at you hungrily, getting your whole image together, your outfit, jesus that skirt really looks good on you, it match your boots, Roger finds you irresistible, the idea that he knows that he has the chance of having you wherever and whenever he wants is not enough, not when at this precise moment he is watching you walk towards the bathroom, seeing how men from other tables turn to see you.
He wants you, he wants to talk to you, he wants to fuck you, he wants your attention.
"U good?" freddie mumbled.
Roger snapped his eyes wider at the sudden interruption.
"Yeah, i have to go to the bathroom" he got up quickly and walked towards the bathroom, disappearing into the crowd of people.
You left the bathroom, bumping into Roger who was leaning against the door frame, "I don't know anything about astrophysics but it can get you a good lay if we leave this bar right now," his raspy voice gave you chills under your clothes, he spoke almost like a whisper.
You smiled at his suggestion, adjusting the collar of his shirt, taking advantage of the movement to touch him gently, "whats got into you?" you giggled.
"Nothing? just want you," he was playing with the end of your skirt, "You're killing me," he giggled airly, "You don't even look at me when we're at the table,"
"I’m having a conversation with Br-" you were trailed off.
"Of course you are" he snapped, not violently, but enough for you to notice what was going on.
You smiled slowly and widely, wetting your lips just a bit, "Okay, half hour and we're gone," you tugged at one of his buttons, playfully.
Your next act was to walk slowly towards the table, wiggling your hips under your skirt, you could feel their eyes glued to your back, it burned on your skin, you were feeling tickles in your belly, you had 30 minutes to play your best card.
You knew perfectly well what he was feeling, and you knew that you had no limitations, you could flirt lightly with anyone and Roger couldn't claim anything from you, you knew that later he was going to show you who you belonged to when you got home, and that was what you were looking for.
The next few minutes were endless for Roger. You were a little more cocky with Brian now knowing that Roger was looking at you, laughing a little harder as you gently tapped his shoulder jokingly after something funny, taking off your jacket complaining about the heat of the bar, you made sure you got your hair tied up in a way that exposes your neck and collarbones (Roger’s weakness) The conversation started about astrophysics but ended with you showing Brian a small birthmark on your chest.
It was enough for Roger, lip swollen for biting it, he waited until Brian got up to the bathroom and he faked a scene where you both had to leave, you were happy inside. After a wave of goodbyes Roger hurried out of the bar, grabbing your wrist and calling for the first cab that came across, you were already rubbing your legs together.
-
When you dropped the keys on the table you felt a hand tugged your bun, making your head fall backwards.
"Is it your little game over?" he whispered at your ear, filling your neck with hot air.
"I-" you felt a sudden spank on your ass and you screamed your guts out.
"Shut the fuck up" he almost growled, looking your collarbone, “Look at you, showing your skin to Brian," he tickled your neck, trailing his hand down and squeazing one of your breasts, pinching your nipple, chuckling, "Such a shame he won't ever touch you," he emphasized the word, giving your breast a final squeeze.
You gasped, already trying to rub your ass over his pants.
He laughed at your desperation, forcefully he motioned you to the couch, bending you over the backrest, almost in all fours. He grabbed your hips, burying his fingers in your skin, rubbing his already hard bulge over your ass, lifting your skirt.
"All night thinking about this," he began to remove his belt with one hand while the other held you in place, "Thinking how i was going to fuck your brains out," when he managed to get rid of his belt he realized you weren't wearing anything under that skirt, "Jesus," he rubbed his fingers along your slit, smiling when he heard your pretty moaning, "You knew." he kicked your legs apart, now having all kind if access to your cunt, playing with it.
"Rog- please," you whined, trying to get more friction.
He dipped three fingers inside you, in and out quickly, "So wet already, i bet you soaked yourself down there at the bar," you moaned deliciously at his words.
"So goo- FUCK" you whined, another spank fell on your ass cheek.
"Don't want words, just moans" he groaned, lowering his pants and jerking him off, "So bad girl, flirting in front of the boys," he looked at your ass, glancing the mark he left there.
You could feel the tip of his cock in your entrance, it was tempting, but not enough.
"You're lucky im hard since i entered the bar, im not gonna keep you waiting," he gasped as he push himself inside you, all the way inside, "Fuck-" he grasped your hips like his life depended on it, "You like this? This is what you w-wanted," he moaned, "You just wanted to be fucked," he kept trusting, hard and deep, he could feel the couch moving.
You grabbed a pillow, buried your nails in the fabric, feeling the heat of your face, enjoying every inch that was inside you, clenching around him and feeling a hot wave of pleasure in your stomach.
Roger threw his head back, enjoying the sensation, listening firmly to your sounds, knowing exactly what spot made you twirl your toes, he gave you a trust that almost made you cry with pleasure, he bit his lips at the sound, "You want it rough huh?" he went faster.
"Oh fuck, fuck fuck- plea- oh" you were a moaning mess, "Yes! and- oh," a tear rolled over your cheek.
He whimpered, "Go-d, take it so nice, good and ni-nice" he closed his eyes, pressing your back down, hitting a spot.
Your legs already trembling, he noticed, he knew you were close, he brought a hand to your clit, and with a couple of circular movements your orgasm hit you like a train without brakes, seconds later, you clenching made him cum, relaxing his muscles, you were panting.
He gave you some final trusts, slowly getting off, when he was done he pulled up his pants, helping you to rebuild your position.
You almost fell when you managed to stand up, knees weak from the position you were in, Roger cupped your red face, brushing the hairs from your face and giving you a tender and long kiss, enjoying the warmth of your lips, both breathless.
You broke the kiss, “Jealousy seems to be a great motivator for you.”
Both laughed airily, he shook his head looking down to the floor, "Let's go upstairs, i wanna have a quick taste," he glued his lips to your neck as you laced your fingers through his hair.

Welcome Home - Roger Taylor x Fem!Reader
Tumblr media
Summary: Okay so I know a handful of people have done this, but I am a sore sucker for hurt Roger.  Roger comes home from their first big tour and he's in pain from the constant physical demand of being a drummer. Also a little bit of angst but mainly fluff then soft smut near the end.
Warnings: Swearing, mention of drugs and alcohol, pain (none inflicted by anybody, but if you are not a fan of reading about people in pain then skip this one), anxiety, smut (penis in vagina sex, riding, dirty talk/mention of masturbation, unprotected sex, no aftercare), note: the smut is fairly vanilla/soft, so if you aren't a fan of having the vagina referred to as a 'cunt' then you're fine to read this.
Word count: 4.1k
Enjoy!
The crowd which surrounded you was yelling like you had never heard before. You were so proud of the kind of fanbase the band had attracted for themselves. The boys hadn't appeared on stage yet, and you knew all four band members were freaking out. They were about to perform at The Rainbow Theatre in London. Groups like The Who, Genesis, Jimi Hendrix and David Bowie had played there in the past, all people who influenced the guys. You were nervous for them, but you knew they would do excellent.
Roger sits on a fold-out chair, carefully removing the wraps from his fingers. Luckily his sores had healed since the last show. His back still aches along with involuntary tremors from anxiety. The Rainbow was one of the most famous theatres in London. In their eyes, if you played at The Rainbow, you made it.
“Have a beer, Roger. Might calm you down,” Brian suggested. “Don’t want a fuckin’ beer,” Roger replied hoarsely. Not only were they about to play in front of a sold-out show of 2,802 people, but the whole set was also going to be broadcasted on The Old Grey Whistle Test and the radio, as well. Beer wasn't going to help the nerves.
Brian let out a sigh before taking a sip of his Coca-Cola. “Well, at least you have Y/n to watch,” he said. You haven't been able to watch the entire tour while you were stuck at home in London due to work, so you were glad you were able to watch the last show. “That's the worst part,” Roger mutters. “What if I mess up? I’ll humiliate myself in front of her and half of fuckin’ London.”
“You’ll be fine, Roger. We made plenty of mistakes on stage throughout the tour. And if you make a mistake tonight, who cares? Whos going to notice and print on next week's paper ‘Queens drummer Roger Taylor messed up on stage’?” Brian asks in his fake coach-like tone. “Nobody. And especially not Y/n.
Roger slowly looks up at Brian, removing his face from his palms. “Youre right,” he says. “Now let's go up on stage,” Brian grins as he gives roger a hand and all four head out of the dressing room.
You watch as the house lights begin to dim. There was a moment of uncomfortable silence as the camera crew and radio men made sure everything was correct. You watch as a man in a white tuxedo comes out onto the stage, it was Bob Harris. You had spoken to him before, he was kind.
“Ladies and gentlemen, this is Queen!” he says proudly before you hear the familiar sound of Brian's guitar. You were amazed by the show. The use of colourful lights and smoke was perfect. You hadn't seen the boys play on such a big stage like this. You were so proud of them.
As the show comes to an end, Brian begins playing strong power cords along with some feedback from the amps. Roger bangs hard on the drums, and you watch as he knocks them over. He furiously throws them off the drum risers, Freddie and John getting out of the way just in the nick of time. That wasn't like him. Sure, he had an anger issue and often had tantrums over things, but he never took things out in front of fans.
You feed your way through the crowd, finding the side door which was guarded by a crew member. You flash your VIP card at them and you are quickly let in. You are greeted by Freddie cautiously sipping on cold water, while Brian was icing his fingertips. “You guys were great!” you praise them before addressing the situation on stage. “Thank you, my dear,” Freddie replies through gulps. He finishes his cup before he stands up and gives you a hug. “Roger can’t wait to see you,” he tells you. “About Roger. Where is he?” you ask since he wasn't in the dressing room.
“You saw his little outburst. He might be in the bathroom or one of the dressing rooms down the hall,” he tells you, and you thank him. “Tell me everything about the tour later, I’ll catch up with you guys in a bit!” you say with a smile as you leave the dressing room on the hunt for Roger.
You pass by his roadie and close friend, Chris “Crystal” Taylor. “Crystal, have you seen Roger?” you ask. “He’s in dressing room five. I tried to talk to him but he told me to leave him alone,” he tells you. “Thanks,” you reply and go down the hall to dressing room five.
You knock lightly, unconsciously not wanting your knock to sound masculine so you wouldn't be sent away immediately. You hear a groan from the other side of the door. Roger was sat on a small couch, gripping his hair in anger while his feet stomped. He had already disorganized the entire counter along with kicking any piece of furniture he could find. “Roger,” you say as you slowly open the door.
He perks up at the sound of your voice. “Y/n?” he asks. He stood up, seeing your worried gaze staring back at him. He hugs you with the force of a thousand lost men. “I missed you so much…” he whispered into your ear. His angered and broken voice rang throughout your head, and you hug him back.
“I’m so sorry. I got angry on stage, and- and I broke the kit, and you had to see me like that,” Roger says. “I was just so nervous about playing in front of everybody, and I didn't want to disappoint you and I did exactly what I was trying not to do,” he whimpered into your neck. All his outward anger was gone. All that was in his heart was remorse.
“Roger,” you say, taking his cheeks into your palms and looking at him. You use your thumbs to slowly wipe away the tears. “You didn't disappoint me,” you tell him. “You did amazing. I just knew you would,” you smile.
Roger slowly smiles back at you as tears form in his eyes again. It was so hard to be away from you for so long. His strong and callused hands grip your waist and his shaky breath blew against your lips. He slowly kisses you, tears running down his face as his eyelids meet. You missed his touch. You missed his kisses. You wished that your welcome home to him was under different circumstances. He parts from the kiss, his face returning to the crook of your neck as he begins to cry. You heard his voice breaking as sobs come from him.
“Baby, why are you crying?” you ask as you gently run your hands through his sweaty hair. “I just missed you so much…” he whispered. “And… and I don’t deserve you…” he confesses. Every day he questions why you haven't left him yet.
It takes you every ounce of strength in your body not to start crying with him. “Don't say that, my love” you tell him. You place a kiss on his cheek as you feel his shaky grip become tighter around you. You have seen Roger in emotional states like this, but he had never presented himself to be this vulnerable before.
You bring his gaze to yours, yet again wiping the tears from his eyes. “Let's go home,” you say. “But- the after party,” he says, and you shut him up with a single finger on his lips. “Your well-being is more important than an after-party,”
After a couple of gentle kisses on the lips and forehead, and two or more tears shed, Roger agrees to go home.
You arrive home with Roger. He sighs as he enters the apartment, and he slowly removes his shoes and jacket. “Are you hungry? I can order some food if you’d like,” you suggest, and he nods. “Japanese, please,” he says. “I was going to order that. I know it's your favourite,” you smile and give him a soft kiss on the cheek. “You go get changed while I order it,” you tell him. Roger walks off and enters your shared bedroom. He hadn't been there in months. It was exactly as he left it, maybe a bit cleaner, but still the same comforting bedroom.
He changes into a t-shirt and sweatpants. It had been ages since he wore comfortable clothes. Most nights he ended up sleeping in his leather pants and button-up because he was too exhausted or drunk to change.
You walk into the bedroom, Japanese food in hand and you see Roger laying stomach-first on the bed. “The food is here,” you tell him as you shake him out of his half-awake state. “Oh,” he says groggily and sits up. He takes his portion of the food and begins eating after he thanked you.
“Tell me all about the tour,” you tell him with a smile.
“The fucking tour…” Roger muttered. “I was great and all, but physically it was horrible,”
“What do you mean?” you ask as you slowly place a hand on his back. Roger hisses as you touch the sensitive muscles on his back. “That-” he says. You frown. “My whole body hurts. My back, my hands, my legs. Pretty sure I sprained my ankle. First I tried painkillers, but they only helped for a bit. I tried drinking, and I tried drugs. It helped for a bit, but when I come down from it everything hurts again. Fuck- jerking off didn't even help. Fred said it would but it didn't,”
You could hear the pain and frustration in his voice. “Rog, baby, if you were hurting all tour you should have asked to go home early,” you tell him. “I wanted to, believe me, I did. But I couldn't, the band depended on me, just like I depend on them. Plus every show was sold out. I couldn't leave.
“Why don’t I run you a bath?” you suggest. “The hot water might help ease your muscles, then we can go to bed,” you tell him.
“You think that will help?” he asks. “It should help your muscles, at least. I’ll bandage your ankle up and if your pain gets any worse we can go to the doctor,” you say. “I’d like a bath, then,” he smiles softly. “Okay,” you tell him and gave him a kiss before you stood up and walked to the bathroom to run the bath.
About 10 minutes later Roger looks up from his book when you walk into the bedroom. He rips off his reading glasses and puts away the book he was reading. He hated his reading glasses, you loved how they looked. He never believes you, of course.
“Bath is done,” you tell him. He stands up from the bed and follows you to the bathroom. He sees as you put epsom salt and some bubbles into the water and mix it with your hand. “Thank you, baby,” he smiles and gives you a warm kiss before he undressed and got into the tub. You couldn't help but watch. You hadn't seen him naked in almost 3 months besides the naughty polaroid photos he left behind for you. But, right now was not the time for lust. Your job as his partner was to comfort him.
Roger hisses as he leans down into the scorching hot water. “Too hot?” you ask worriedly. “Little bit, but that’s probably good,” he says. He slowly adjusts to the temperature and leans his head back onto the cold tile.
The two of you had shared baths before. Roger had suggested it once a while back as a bonding moment. He made it quite romantic. There were much more bubbles than the current bath, and he poured you both a glass of wine with candles. Even if it felt a bit cheesy, you loved it.
“I’ll be in the bedroom when you're done,” you tell him and stand up to leave. “Y/n,” he says, grabbing your dry hand with his wet one. “Don’t leave,”
You look down at him, his wide, remorseful eyes staring back at you. “You're doing all this stuff for me, getting food, running me a bath. If I were you I’d be struggling to keep my hands to myself,” he says. “It's nice to have a welcome home like this, so stay. The last thing I want is to not be able to see you, or hear your voice, or smell you…”
If you weren't his girlfriend, you’d be creeped out by the last sentence. But you had to admit, you felt the same. Even just a reminiscing smell that was similar to Rogers's cologne or sweat brought you comfort.
“Okay, I’ll stay,” you smile. You sit down on the floor mat, still holding his hand in yours. “Is the bath helping?” you ask. “A bit. It does feel nice on my muscles,” he replies. “Maybe you could give me a massage after?”
“Is that an excuse to have my hands all over you?” you tease with a smirk. “Partly,” he grins and gives you a superficial kiss as he purses his lips at you. You laugh and nudge him a bit. “Creep,” you joke. “You can't deny it, you love that creep,” he barks back at you. He always made you blush, even with the simplest of words.
Roger slowly brings your hand up to his mouth, kissing your hand gently before resting his cheek against it. “I love you…” he whispers. You smile softly. “I love you too,” you whisper back. You lean over, giving him a slow and loving kiss. “Why don't you join me?” he asks, using his hand to tap the water a bit. “I already showered today,” you tease. Roger groans with a smirk. “You always play hard to get,” he chuckles.
Roger stayed in the tub for almost forty-five minutes before he gave you the queue he was ready to get out. You handed him a towel and he wrapped it around his waist. “Don't forget that massage,” he grins. “Don’t worry, I didn't,” you giggle. He was always so needed sometimes.
You lead him back to the bedroom once you grabbed the massage oil from under the bathroom sink. He lays down on the bed, taking off his towel as he did. You could feel the smirk on his face. “Cover your arse,” you tell him, even if it was cute. “You're no fun,” he laughs and puts the towel back on.
You put the tiniest amount of oil on your hands, rub it between your palms to warm the liquid before gently rubbing it up and down Roger's back. “Where does it hurt, baby?” you ask. “My upper back, near my shoulders, and my spine,” Roger says while burying his face into his arms. You begin kneading his shoulders, digging your thumbs into his muscles. “Fuck-” he groans. “Hurts?” you ask. “Yes,” he mutters. “Sorry,” you reply, placing a gentle kiss on the back of his neck. “It's okay.”
You knead his muscles slower, adding less pressure so you could ease him onto it. You worked on one section, and once Roger gave you the okay, you added a bit more pressure, and then more after. He groans again as you push harder. “I’m sorry,” you say. “No- no, keep going,” he whispers. “Fuck-” he growled.
It felt so good but hurt at the same time. “You’re great with your hands, Y/n,” he tells you. “In multiple ways,” he smirks. “Oh shut the fuck up,” you laugh.
After half an hour or so of massaging, you were finally done, and by the time you had finished, Roger was almost asleep. “You’re done, love,” you whisper to him with a gentle kiss on his cheek. That was able to wake him up from his light sleep. “Thank you, babe…” he mumbled as he pushed himself up. He sighs as he moves his spine. “It feels much better,” he smiles, and you smile back at him. “I’m glad it does,” you tell him, and give him a kiss on the lips.
Roger sits up, taking the towel from his behind and wrapping it around his waist once again. “You know,” he says, looking over at the clock on your nightstand. “The night isn't over yet,” he smirks. You knew exactly what he meant. “You're right, it isn't,” you say. “I have another welcome home gift for you,” you hum before you kiss him. It was gentle and soft. You always played hard to get with him, even if Roger acted as if he hated it, it made the night feel even more erotic.
Rogers' hands make their way to your waist, gripping your shirt before they venture under the fabric. “Somebody is needy,” you tease. “I haven't seen you… in months. Of course, I'm needy,” he says between kisses. You shiver at his touch. Even if you loved teasing him, you couldn't resist him either.
Your hands run down his bare chest as the kiss becomes more sensual. Roger was always the first one to use his tongue, and you didn't mind, especially right now. “You know,” you begin through a small moment of a parting of your lips. “When you were gone…” you whisper, trailing your kisses down his neck to suck hot sores onto his skin. “I used to ride my pillow… pretending it was you,”
Shivers went through Roger's body as you spoke. He held back a moan, letting out a soft groan instead. “Yeah? What other dirty things did you do while I was gone?” he asks against your ear while his hands tried to undress you. “I’d moan your name as if you were in the room,” you tell him, letting the lewd noises of your wet kisses echo through his ears. “I’d touch myself in the shower and pretend it's your hand…” you whisper. “I’d even go as far as touching myself while reading your interviews in magazines,”
“Fuck…” Roger whimpered. He was already hard as a rock at the thought of you doing all those outlandish things just because you missed him. “Well, the real thing is here, now. No need to pretend,” he hummed. He takes off your shirt and shudders as he cups your bra. He bit his lip at the sight of your breasts. He had looked at them in the dirty polaroid you gave him, but finally seeing them in person, even with a bra, felt so rewarding. “I need you, baby…” he whispered.
You push him down onto the bed. You were much more forceful than you had ever been. “I love when you beg,” you grinned. You begin undoing your pants after Rogers's many failed attempts. “Please…” he whimpered. “I jerked off almost every night to that little sexy photo I have of you… just wasn't the same-” he says breathily.
Once your pants were off, which felt like forever for Roger, you straddle his hips. He hisses as your panties rub against his cock. “Baby- please…” he begs. “Please, what?” you ask in your menacing teasing tone. “Please fuck me,” Roger says. He wasn't afraid to beg. If he had to beg you to get what he wanted, he would. You grin. You slowly remove your underwear and toss them to the side. It took every ounce of strength in Roger's body not to grab your panties and smell them.
You lift your hips, letting his tip run through your folds. You were already soaking wet for him. “Shit-” Roger mutters. His tip twitched against your wetness. You reach behind yourself, slowly unclipping your bra and sliding it off. The desperate and amazed look on Roger's face almost made you laugh. He looked like a child in a candy store. Rogers' shaky hands reach up to gently cup your breasts. His thumbs run over your nipples and he watches as they become pointy in his hold.
“Are you ready?” You ask in a similar fashion to how he asked you the first time you had sex. “I’ve been ready,” he huffs. You smirk at the desperate look on his face. You feel Roger's hands slowly run down to your hips, ready in position to help guide you. You slowly sink down onto his cock once you aligned his tip with your entrance. You let out a whine as he finally goes inside you. You have used dildos occasionally while he was gone, but it never felt the same.
“Fuck, baby…” Roger groaned as you squeeze around his length. His hands grip your waist, knuckles on the verge of going white. His hands and your body begin to move in unison. “Oh, Roger…” you whisper between soft moans. Your hips slowly move up and hit down onto Roger's pelvis. The first bounce of many made you whine and made Roger bite back a moan.
“Faster…” Roger begs quietly, and you comply. You needed to be faster, you needed him. His hands helped your hips move as you rode him. You were weak with arousal, and it took great strength to move your hips.
Every movement sent waves through your body, rewarding Roger with the sound of your sweet moans every time his cock hit just the right spot inside you. “You feel so good, baby…” Roger whispers before letting out a groan. His head was swimming. Every time he watched the way your breasts moved with your hips, or how his cock disappeared inside of you, he moaned almost femininely.
By now, you were bouncing on Roger like it was your last day on Earth. And your moans were erotically loud. Roger shouted obscenities that would have his mother fuming from the unholy words, but neither of you cared. You needed each other more than you needed air. You needed each other's body and soul. You knew that after this night, not only would you both be sore, but you would have an angry note from your elderly neighbour the next morning.
“Babe- fuck, I’m close…!” you moan. Your face was unpleasing to you, with your eyebrows scrunched together and your mouth hanging open. Roger loved the sight, but, he could barely look because he was engulfed in pleasure. It was a strain to open his eyes.
“Cum for me, love,” Roger tells you. “Cum,” he repeats. You couldn't feel your body besides the constant pleasuring feeling of Rogers' length plunging in and out of you. You had lost full control of your hips, but the rewarding feeling was too strong to stop. “Cum all over my cock,” it was so erotic to say something like that, although it wasn't the worst of the dirty talk that Roger had in store. But, it was enough for you to finally go over the edge.
You moan loudly as Roger's cock hits just the right spot, and you tighten around him. “Fuck!” you moan, along with multiple other forms of The Lord's name used in vain. Roger groans as your walls squeeze around his length. “Y/n…!” he moaned before his cum spewed into you. You were both wet and sticky with each other's arousal. It felt disgusting but you loved it.
Roger pulled you against his chest, groaning into your neck as he gripped your hair. His arms were around you in a bear hug, chest heaving against yours with a silent promise to never let you go.
“Rog…” you whisper. Roger took a moment to answer, he could hardly breathe. “Y-yes?” he asks. “I love you…” that made him smile. “I love you, too…” he whispers back.
You didn't dare to move, and neither did Roger. “I don't have it in me for a second round, baby…” you whisper. “It's okay, me either,” he huffs. You slowly lift your head from the crook of his neck, you see the weak smile on his lips and you couldn't help but smile back. You kiss him, gently like before. “Want me to-” he hisses as you slowly lift your hips, removing his length from your pussy. “Want me to clean you up?” he asks.
You shake your head. “No,” you tell him. You roll over, resting your head in your hand as your look at him. Roger's hand gently caresses your cheek, twirling a strand or two of hair around his finger. You noticed the sores on his fingers where calluses usually were, but you didn't comment on it.
You were so beautiful, sometimes he didn't believe that you were his. He often questioned his religion because of you. He didn't understand how he could be given such a goddess-like being like yourself without the help of some higher deity to bless him with such a gift.
“Now can you tell me about the tour?” you ask, and he smiles. “Sure,” he says, and he began rambling on about the great time he had in America, leaving out the parts about his pain. You had helped him with his wounds, and he finally felt at peace again.

Good night and have a wonderful weekend 🌖 SPEED CHECK
I could already see the coast of California from the Arizona border. I was, finally, after many humbling months of simulators and study, ahead of the jet. I was beginning to feel a bit sorry for Walter in the back seat. There he was, with no really good view of the incredible sights before us, tasked with monitoring four different radios. This was good practice for him for when we began flying real missions, when a priority transmission from headquarters could be vital. It had been difficult, too, for me to relinquish control of the radios, as during my entire flying career I had controlled my own transmissions. I still insisted on talking on the radio while we were on the ground, however. Walt was so good at many things, but he couldn't match my expertise at sounding smooth on the radios, a skill that had been honed sharply with years in fighter squadrons where the slightest radio miscue was grounds for beheading. He understood that and allowed me that luxury.
Just to get a sense of what Walt had to contend with, I pulled the radio toggle switches and monitored the frequencies along with him. The predominant radio chatter was from Los Angeles Center, far below us, controlling daily traffic in their sector. While they had us on their scope (albeit briefly), We listened as the shaky voice of a lone Cessna pilot asked Center for a readout of his ground speed. Center replied:
"November Charlie 175, I'm showing you at ninety knots on the ground."
Just moments after the Cessna's inquiry, a Twin Beech piped up on frequency, in a rather superior tone, asking for his ground speed. "I have you at one hundred and twenty-five knots of ground speed."
And I thought to myself, is this a ripe situation, or what? As my hand instinctively reached for the mic button, I had to remind myself that Walt was in control of the radios. Still, I thought, it must be done - in mere seconds we'll be out of the sector and the opportunity will be lost. That Hornet must die, and die now. I thought about all of our Sim training and how important it was that we developed well as a crew and knew that to jump in on the radios now would destroy the integrity of all that we had worked toward becoming. I was torn.
Somewhere, 13 miles above Arizona, there was a pilot screaming inside his space helmet. Then, I heard it. The click of the mic button from the back seat. That was the very moment that I knew Walter and I had become a crew. Very professionally, and with no emotion, Walter spoke: "Los Angeles Center, Aspen 20, can you give us a ground speed check?" There was no hesitation, and the replay came as if was an everyday request. "Aspen 20, I show you at one thousand eight hundred and forty-two knots, across the ground."
I think it was the forty-two knots that I liked the best, so accurate and proud was Center to deliver that information without hesitation, and you just knew he was smiling. But the precise point at which I knew that Walt and I were going to be really good friends for a long time was when he keyed the mic once again to say, in his most fighter-pilot-like voice: "Ah, Center, much thanks, we're showing closer to nineteen hundred on the money."
For a moment Walter was a god. And we finally heard a little crack in the armor of the Houston Center voice, when L.A.came back with, "Roger that Aspen, Your equipment is probably more accurate than ours. You boys have a good one." It all had lasted for just moments, but in that short, memorable sprint across the southwest, the Navy had been flamed, all mortal airplanes on freq were forced to bow before the King of Speed, and more importantly, Walter and I had crossed the threshold of being a crew. A fine day's work. We never heard another transmission on that frequency all the way to the coast. For just one day, it truly was fun being the fastest guys out there. Back to the old house - Roger Taylor :)
Tumblr media
Warnings: kissing, swearing, little angst, not proofread
Parings: Roger Taylor x Reader
Notes: just a cute little fluff, my queen obsession is coming back :)
Word count: 2.2k
————————————-
“Are you sure you have everything?” Your roommate Harmony asked once again, “Yes, I’m sure I do,” you said nodding your head and packing your last bag. “You better, because if you call me and ask me to bring you something,-“ “I owe you twenty bucks, I know,” you said, knowing the promise you made her. She smiled at you and nodded, walking out of your room.
You were going on a ten hour road trip, TEN HOURS! it was gonna be a fun, yet painful ride. But, you couldn’t refuse. John was practically on his knees begging for you to come, he was your best friend, and you couldn’t say no to him. It was his birthday soon as-well, and they were doing a couple shows up in Las Vegas, so of course you had to tag along.
You tried to convince him to let you meet him there, so you wouldn’t have to sit in a vehicle with the other members of the band for ten hours. Actually, so you wouldn’t have to sit in a vehicle with Roger for ten hours.
He was probably one of the most gorgeous men you have ever met, but also the most annoying, nerve racking, eye rolling playboy you’ve ever met in your entire life. He knew how to get your last nerve to just snap, and you hated it, absolutely hated it, you also hated the fact that you were secretly totally head over heels for the guy, in love.
But sometimes you just wanted to punch his face in, or just knee him in the balls. And then, other times, you wanted to kiss him and just confess everything to him. You didn’t know which one you wanted more, you thought it was punching and kicking him, but you could never tell.
You sat out the front of your house, on top of one of your three suitcases. Tapping your foot, waiting for the slightly large blue van to pull up, you wore a comfortable outfit considering the long drive, but truthfully you made sure it was just a tad bit revealing. You wanted to gain Rogers attention, maybe to get at him, or maybe just feeling praised by a gorgeous man made you feel confident.
You heard music blaring, and a loud engine to pare with it. You looked up from your book to see the nice blue van, you watched as Brain opened the door for you and crawled out a bit, while John jumped out and helped with your things.
“Hey boys,” you smiled standing up, grabbing one of your suitcases while John grabbed the other two, you peaked in the van to see Roger sitting in the back, an empty seat next to him. You turned to John immediately, “Don’t tell me I’m sitting next to Roger,” you groaned, “Yeah, I’m sorry,” John said with a half smile.
“Why can’t Brian sit next to him!” You exclaimed, “I can hear you,” Roger called out, “Good,” you snapped at him not looking at him, “Im not sitting next to him for ten hours,” Brain said slightly leaning over, facing Roger who flipped him off.
“Plus, me and Brian have some stuff we need to work on, and it’s just, easier,” John stated, giving you a half good reason as to why, you rolled your eyes, knowing nobody was gonna even consider swapping with you, “this is gonna be a long ten hours,” you groaned hoping in next to Roger.
“Trust me princess, I’m not happy about it either,” Roger groaned and moved over a bit, “Don’t call me that,” you scoffed back at him, feeling butterflies at the nickname, but brushing them away pretended to be disgusted by the name.
“Do you have to practice right now?” Brain asked Roger, who had his drumsticks up in the air tapping on the seat that Brian was sitting in, “Yeah, I do,” he said continuing, “Seriously Rog, it’s annoying,” you stated trying to grab the sticks, where he just moved away.
“You’ve never called me Rog before,” He stated holding the sticks behind his head, you scoffed and continued to try and grab them, knowing if you didn’t he would just continue, “Give them!” You said; there was no seatbelt in the back so you easily tried to crawl over him to get them, “No,” he said with a small laugh, finding your behaviour amusing.
You finally grabbed the sticks out of his hands, and when you did you actually realised where you were, you were straddled on top of Roger, you looked down at him with pure shock as his giggle faded, slowly smirking, you scoffed and crawled off of him.
Sitting next to him once again a soft blush on your face, throwing the drum sticks next to John, far away from the annoying, childish, handsome guy sitting next to you. Still, another nine and half hours to go.
“Can you move,” Roger said slightly kicking your foot, you rolled your eyes and kept your legs there, “Move,” he said once again kicking harder, “Asshole,” you kicked up back, “that hurt,” you added onto that, “No it didn’t,” he said, “Yeah it did,” you exclaimed nodding your head, “baby,” he said, “Brat,” you snapped back at him.
“Can you guys not, we are only like nine hours in,” John said turning back, “Mind your business Deacon,” you said to him, agitated by the blonde child, “Can you tell her I need space too,” Roger asked John, John looked down over to see Roger had plenty of room.
“You have plenty of room dickhead,” he scoffed looking at Roger, Roger rolled his eyes and shook his head “Your the fucking brat,” Roger said, “At least I’m not fucking my own car,” you said to him, a small laugh coming out of the boys in the front.
“Ay, don’t bring her into this,” Roger said pointing a finger up at you, you laughed a little “Her?” You asked a small laugh, his face going a little red, “Shut up!” He said seriously, but you just couldn’t take it seriously.
“I don’t fuck my car!” He said throwing himself back in his seat, “Then why’d you write a song about it?” You asked looking at him, “because, it’s a hot car,” he said defending himself, “it is a nice car,” Brian leant back and budded in, you looked at Brian with a death stare making him raise his hands and turn around, “what do you do with you car then, make out with it?” You asked mockingly.
“No, I make out in it though, and I fuck in it,” he said with a small smile on his face, “Gross,” you scoffed, “i didn’t need to know that,” you said shaking your head, “Yeah man, to much information,” John said with a disgusted face on, “I’ve sat in that car before!” Brian said, a small laugh escaping me and John after that.
“Sorry!” Roger laughed raising his hands, “you asked princess,” he said, again with that name. “I said don’t call me that!” You snapped at him, a small blush on your face, “Whatever,” he said rolling his head back.
And of course, the ten hour road trip turned into a longer one, because the van broke down and everyone had to stay in a motel for the night, and the only one around was crappy and old, and had three rooms available.
“Seriously John,” you scoffed at him, seeing as he already grabbed a key with Brian. You and him always had sleepover since you guys were little, and he begged you to come. “Sorry, I really have to work on this with Brian,” he said walking off. “Fred,” you called out to him.
“I know you like your beauty sleep, but please I’m begging you, don’t make me share a room with Roger,” you begged, “Sorry sweetheart, maybe you guys can talk it out,” he shrugged walking into his room.
You rolled your eyes turning around, “You have to be joking,” Roger said looking at you, “I wish I was,” you said opening the door to the room, Roger walking in behind you.
Only to see one bed, “Oh for fuck sake,” you groaned, “Fuckin’ hell,” Roger cursed, you sat on the end of the bed, shaking your head. “John owe’s me big time,” you said under your breath, there wasn’t even a pull out couch. Or chair. It was a double bed, a side tables and a small dresser. And next to was a small cramped bathroom.
“Someone definitely shot there brains out in there,” Roger said walking out of it, referring the stained bathtub. “I’ll just take the floor,” you said grabbing a pillow, “No, I will,” he said, was he being a gentlemen for once? “There’s probably more bed bugs in the bed then there are cockroaches on the floor,” He said setting himself up, you rolled your eyes at his meaning.
“It’s not even carpet Rog, don’t be ridiculous,” you scoffed, “You were planning on sleeping on the floor,” he stated, “Yeah, but I wasn’t planning on sleeping,” you said in a ‘duh’ sort of tone, “Just, we’re both adults, sharing a bed won’t be the end of it,” you said trying to sound responsible.
“You just wanna share a bed, don’t ya princess?” He said placing a hand on his hip, a small smile appearing on his face.
Yes, “No,” you scoffed, “it’s just, I’m very empathetic, even for assholes for you,” you said checking the last corner of the bed for bed bugs, “Sure,” he said with a smile. “And I said stop calling me that!” You added onto your sentence.
“You not going to bed yet?” Roger asked getting comfortable, noticing you not getting into bed, “I kind of wanna practice a bit,” you said, “Practice?” He asked, “Guitar,” you said, only John knew you played.
“You play?” He asks, you nodded lightly and grabbed out the smaller portable guitar in your bag, not a full guitar, but not a ukulele either. “I’m uh, I’m working on a piece,” you said, “really?” He asks surprised, slightly sitting up.
“Yeah,” you nodded, “Can I hear it?” He asked, you laughed a little and shook your head “God no, you already hate my voice as is,” you said raising an eyebrow with a small smile, placing the guitar in your hands.
“I don’t, it’s just, annoying sometimes,” he admits, “well so is yours,” you said tuning the guitar properly.
“Let me hear it,” he said a bit softer, making your heart swarm with butterflies at his tone, you look up at him, straight into his gorgeous eyes, that were pleading for you to sing it.
“I haven’t finished it yet,” you started, “I don’t mind, consider me a guide, I’ll be brutally honest,” he said with a smile sitting up, you did need a bit of criticism, “it sounds better with more background, but whatever,” you rolled your eyes and faced down at your guitar.
He softly clapped as you strummed a few cords, starting off the song.
“I would rather not go.. back to the old house,”
“I would rather not go, back to the old house,”
“There’s to many, bad memories,”
“To many memories there,”
“When you cycle by,”
“Here began all my dreams,”
“The saddest thing I’ve ever seen,”
“And you never knew, how much I really liked you, Cause I never even told you, and oh I meant to,”
You sang in a soft, sweet voice, that was slightly deep but not too deep, hitting every cord beautifully.
You looked up to Roger, who looked a little shocked, mouth slightly open, eyes glistening and cheeks a soft shade of red.
“Is it that bad?” You asked with anxiety in your voice, “God no, it’s- it’s beautiful actually,” he said lifting a hand up to scratch the back of his head, feeling awkward at complimenting you.
“Who’s it about?” He then asked, and god did you wanna drown at that question, when you first started, it was supposed to be about your childhood trauma, then it slowly turned into the memories of Roger.
The first time you ever met him, he was on a bike riding around with Brian, being a complete idiot.
You went a light shade of red and looked down, “no one, really,” you shook your head, putting the guitar away.
“Y/n,” he said softly, grabbing your hand, “Who’s it about?” He asked once again, looking you dead in the eye, it was impossible to lie to those eyes, impossible.
“You,” you said very quietly, looking him dead in the eyes, and total embarrassment washing over your face, but that quickly went away when you felt his lips on yours.
You felt his lips move with yours, his hand cupping your cheek, you heard the small guitar drop to the floor but you didn’t care.
You felt so unreal, as if you were being lifted from the ground. Or similar to it.
“I really like you too,” he said as he pulled away, looking into your eyes.
“you do?” You asked, shocked.
“I love you actually,” he corrected himself, “you y/n y/l/n, are the most beautiful girl I’ve ever met,” he stated truthfully, making you a blushing mess.
“I was a douchebag I guess because I didn’t know how else to actually talk to you, stupid and childish I know, but that’s just.. me,” he said shaking his head a bit.
“I love you to Rog,” you said with a small smile, then connecting your lips back together, Freddie was right, you did talk it out, you did more than talk it out.

'Freddie Mercury felt like a god. Then he started behaving like one,' by the man who signed Queen
By NORMAN J SHEFFIELD, Founder of Trident Studios where Queen first recorded // PUBLISHED: 17:00 EDT, 20 July 2013 | UPDATED: 17:16 EDT, 20 July 2013 (x)
NORMAN J SHEFFIELD on the amazing story of how one of Britain's best loved rock bands made it big
Freddie Mercury used to say there was no question in his mind that Queen would be a success
I was sitting in my office one day in 1971 when I got a call from my brother Barry down in the studio.
‘Norman, come down and have a listen to something,’ he said.
John Anthony, Trident’s A&R man, had discovered a band called Smile.
At the start, the lead guitarist was an astrophysics student from Imperial College called Brian May, the bassist and singer was an art student called Tim Staffell, and the drummer was a biology student called Roger Taylor.
It turned out that they’d now reshaped the band.
Staffell had been replaced by this little Indian-looking guy with a big, operatic voice and they had a new bass player.
John had asked for their demo. It was raw but there was definitely something there. I’d opened Trident Studios in 1968 in Soho.
Its cutting-edge facilities and happening vibe were attracting the greatest talents of the era, from The Beatles and Elton John to David Bowie and Marc Bolan.
The four guys who came into my office a couple of weeks later were an intriguing mix of characters.
Roger Taylor was a really good-looking kid, with long blond hair and charm. Brian May was tall with a mane of curls and a little introverted but clearly very intelligent. The bass player, John Deacon, was also quiet. I could tell right away that the fourth member was going to be high maintenance.
His real name was Farokh Bulsara. He was born in Zanzibar and educated in India. The family had immigrated to England when he was a teenager. He’d gone to Ealing Art College to study art and graphic design. He was also a gifted singer and pianist.
When he joined the band, he immediately gave himself a more rock ’n’ roll name: Freddie Mercury.
He was charming, acted a bit shy and reserved at times and spoke in quite a posh, mannered voice. When he relaxed he had a very sharp sense of humour and spoke at a hundred miles an hour.
Queen turned out to be every bit as good - and demanding - as we'd anticipated. Things had to be one hundred per cent right, otherwise they wouldn't be happy
They’d rightly decided to ditch Smile as their name. I nearly choked on my coffee when I heard their new one: Queen. The world wasn’t as enlightened then as it is today.
We were worried that it would be a real turn-off, especially given the band’s look. Freddie apparently had a girlfriend but we were pretty certain he was gay.
But the name wasn’t up for negotiation. I agreed to offer the Queenies, as we christened them, a loose kind of arrangement. There were times when the studio was ‘dark’, usually at 2am. So we said: ‘We’ll give you this downtime in the studio to see what you can do.’
They turned out to be every bit as good – and demanding – as we’d anticipated. Things had to be one hundred per cent right, otherwise they wouldn’t be happy. They’d spend days and nights working on the harmonies.
Arguments would start about the tiniest little detail. They’d start screaming, shouting and chucking things. Sometimes it would blow over in a few minutes, but at other times they would stew on it, not talking to each other for a day or two. They’d always sort it out, however. It wasn’t personal, it was about the work.
The more adulation Freddie received on stage, the harder he became to work with offstage
Freddie used to say there was no question in his mind that Queen would be a success.
‘There was never a doubt, darling, never,’ he’d say with an imperious wave of his hand.
The title of their first album was simply Queen.
Another suggestion had been Dearie Me, Freddie’s catchphrase, which was quite funny but the band were a hard enough sell as it was.
They spent ages arguing about the album sleeve. The front cover was a single image of Freddie on stage, with two spotlights in the background.
For the back cover the boys put together a collage of snaps of themselves.
Freddie had driven everyone to distraction fretting over whether he looked ‘gorgeous enough’ in them.
By the end of the year they were on the road with Mott the Hoople, but Queen were getting more encores and bigger cheers than the headliners.
They were due to go to Australia for a gig when Brian suddenly developed a really high fever. His arm had swollen up to the size of a football and doctors diagnosed gangrene.
At one point it was touch and go whether he would lose it. Luckily the crisis eased and he was allowed to fly.
However, the gig was a disaster. The local DJ introducing them had clearly taken against them because he introduced them as ‘stuck-up Pommies’. When they got on stage, the crowd turned against them, too.
The boys were mightily relieved when they got on a plane back to London. For some bizarre reason, the British press had been tipped off that Her Majesty the Queen was arriving at Heathrow. So when they saw four knackered musicians emerging through Customs, they weren’t too happy.
On their first tour of America, Brian’s health was deteriorating. Our worst fears were confirmed when doctors announced he had hepatitis.
The rest of the tour had to be cancelled. It was a disaster, professionally and personally. Then, when they came back to London in August, he had to have an emergency operation for an ulcer.
The opening track on A Night At The Opera attacked their management
But on October 11, 1974, EMI put out Killer Queen, from their third album, Sheer Heart Attack.
Within weeks it had given the boys the thing they’d most wanted – a No. 1 single.
As Queen hit the road again, this time as a headline act in their own right, it was clear they were on the verge of major success.
But the more adulation Freddie received on stage, the harder he became to work with offstage.
The tour came to an end at the famous Rainbow Theatre in London. The day before the gig, Freddie was being even more pedantic than usual.
‘Oh, stop being such a tart, Freddie,’ Brian said.
Freddie was outraged. He tossed back his head, waved his arms and stormed off in a strop.
When it was time for the soundcheck, Brian turned the mic on.
‘Freddiepoos, where are you?’ he shouted.
Freddie appeared immediately with a face like thunder. He flounced on stage, gave Brian a vicious look and then just got on with it. That’s what they always did.
In 1975 they went to Japan and found 3,000 fans waiting for them, all chanting the band’s name. It was like Beatlemania. Freddie had finally found the acclaim he’d craved all his life. He felt like a god. Unfortunately, he soon started behaving like one, too.
The more successful they became, the more agitated Queen had grown about money. One of the most heated rows came when John got married. In the run-up to the wedding he announced he wanted me to spring £10,000 (about £90,000 in 2013 values) for him to buy a house. I didn’t react too well.
Then Freddie demanded a grand piano. When I turned him down, he  banged his fist on my desk. ‘I have to get a grand piano,’ he said.
Norman J Sheffield: By the time I realised things were badly wrong it was too late
I wasn’t being mean. We knew there was a huge amount of money due to come flooding our way from Queen’s success. I explained that some of it was already coming in but the vast majority of it hadn’t arrived yet.
‘But we’re stars. We’re selling millions of records,’ Freddie said.
‘And I’m still living in the same flat I’ve been in for the past three years.’
The amount of money we’d invested in the band was huge.
We’d advanced them equipment and salaries right at the beginning and had continued to pour money into them for four years.
The fact the band owed Trident close to £200,000 (£1.75 million today) didn’t seem to register with Freddie.
I can remember the conversation.
‘The money will come in December,’ I said. ‘So wait.’
Then came a phrase he would make famous around the world in years to come, although no one would have known where it was born.
Freddie stamped his feet and raised his voice: ‘No, I am not prepared to wait any longer. I want it all. I want it now.’
By late 1975 I was hearing that they were making all sorts of derogatory comments about Trident.
Then I heard a track from A Night At The Opera called Death On Two Legs. The opening two lines summed up what was to come.
‘You suck my blood like a leech/you break the law and you breach’, then, ‘Do you feel like suicide?’ it went on, ‘I think that you should’. It was some kind of nasty hate mail from Freddie to me.
Soon Bohemian Rhapsody roared to the top of the UK charts and stayed there for nine weeks. A bittersweet moment, it came as news was beginning to leak that we had split from Queen.
We should have talked more. And I should have been more attentive to their feelings. By the time I realised things were badly wrong, it was too late.
In March 1977 the company settled with the band for the sale of all of its future rights, the rights to the old albums and the settlement of the management debt.
Freddie’s dream finally came true and he became a very wealthy man. When he died, no one was sadder than me. He may have been a monster to deal with, but he was also a genius.
I did see him once, in the years following our fallout, in 1986, when I took the family to their Knebworth concert. He was friendly, as if the rows of the past were forgotten. It turned out to be their last live concert, which meant I was at their first and last.
Years later, after his death, I went to the Freddie Mercury Memorial Concert at Wembley, where I saw the three remaining members being photographed.
John Deacon pointed at me and said: ‘And if it hadn’t been for that man we wouldn’t be here.’
Brian and Roger looked at me and nodded. That gesture went a long way towards exorcising the ghosts of the past.

The first proper trailer for Sonic Prime came out yesterday, as I'm sure you've all heard. I've gotten several messages asking me my thoughts, so... here's some thoughts! Thoughts on how the show's looking, and a certain bat whose presence is somehow the biggest news to me.
First off? This looks phenomenal, visually speaking. I'm kind of in awe of how good the visuals in CGI cartoons are getting. The scenery looks great. The characters move so fluidly. Everything's beautifully lit. I could go on and on. I wish the in-engine game cutscenes had animation half this good.
I continue to be pleased with how slavishly faithful to the games the main universe is - to the point that they're saying this is, in fact, just set in the game universe. Yeah, we're all getting tired of Green Hill Zone, but we've never had a cartoon that was this faithful. The closest we got was Sonic X, which I like, but it's hard to look at any random episode about Sonic having to save the extensive human cast from another generic robot and say it really has the feel of the games. Seeing Sonic and co. fight some classic Badniks in a cartoon with (mostly) their normal designs feels special after all these years of never quite getting that.
That slavish faithfulness to the classic iconography also makes the differences with the multiverse stuff hit harder, and thank GOD they're finally showing some of that. This teaser is pitching it as a show about Sonic meeting alternate timeline versions of his friends who form an underground resistance against the Eggman Empire (funny how the franchise keeps finding itself back in Freedom Fighter territory), which is fun and all. Tall cyborg Amy! A version of Tails who can walk like a spider on a set of robotic kitsune tails! Hell yeah! But if the synopsis blurbs about a "multiverse" and "new worlds" and that pile of leaked concept art from a year and a half ago are anything to go off of, this is presumably only the first of multiple alternate worlds that we'll be seeing. I'm very excited to see more of them!
We also hear a little more from the new voice cast. Brian Drummond is kinda doing his own thing with Eggman. I like it. It sounds compatible with the usual Mike Pollock take without aping it 1:1. He seems maybe a little more sinister here, which fits what we've seen so far from this take on Eggman. And Deven Mack still sounds great as Sonic, although I kind of wonder if he's being instructed to sound like Roger since the delivery in what we've heard so far is pretty similar. I get that desire for consistency, but I hope he's able to inject a bit more of his own spin on Sonic in the full show, even if it's supposed to technically be the same Sonic as Roger's.
Meanwhile, the roles for the rest of the main voice cast have been confirmed elsewhere, and they mostly match up with what I expected because these casting choices just make perfect sense. I already know Shannon Chan-Kent, known primarily for playing Misa in Death Note and Pinkie Pie's singing voice (and Smolder) in MLP, is perfect casting for Amy. Ashleigh Ball's one brief line as Tails sounds a lot like her Rainbow Dash voice, but like... hey, it fits! I'm excited to hear more from her. And Knuckles... well, I don't know his VA as well and also he has no lines in this trailer.
But by now y'all know which characters I stan the most, and you know what I'm gonna be excited about. The big surprise here is the fact that Rouge is on the main cast. The main cast.
The cast posters revealed that she was in the show, which was big enough news, but then the trailer drops and she's on the damn team. Every hero team in a kids' show needs three boys and two girls, and this time they rounded out the group with Rouge. AND she's being voiced by Kazumi Evans, yet another MLP alum on this show - this time Rarity's singing voice and the voice of Adagio Dazzle in Equestria Girls. I don't even need to hear any lines, I know that's another perfect fit.
I'm just shocked. Rouge hasn't been in a TV series in almost two decades since she was kept out of Boom, robbing us of the "Rouge somehow ropes Team Sonic into doing a goofy heist with her" episode the world deserved. Ian's even said that he pitched some ideas for Boom Rouge after being asked to pitch more Boom-ified game characters, but it went nowhere. While she's continued to show up in the comics and (to a lesser extent) the games due to her fan favorite status, it's kind of felt like she was being swept under the rug. Fewer major story appearances than in the '00s, not much merch, it took them until the fifth Mario & Sonic game to make her playable. And she's probably seen as less broadly marketable as a mascot character because of... well, two big reasons.
And so, understandably, Rouge is here with a new outfit that covers those two big reasons up more than usual.
Tumblr media
Yeah as a Rouge fan, a person who's talked at length about the fanservice in Archie Sonic, and a sapphic furry artist, I can't avoid talking about this stuff lol
I mostly like the new outfit and think it was a smart call. We can have lots of nuanced discussions about objectification and sexual liberation and the fact that seeing some cleavage isn't gonna kill you and how being the flirty femme fatale is a core part of Rouge's character and whether that's objectifying or empowering and all the other things that get brought up every time a new Bayonetta game comes out. But at the end of the day their main audience is 8-year-olds, and because of that I really can't blame them for dressing Rouge slightly more modestly. I've always loved Rouge as a character the way she already is, but people (particularly non-fans, and also just... Sonic fans who aren't also furries lol) often write her off as "that weird bat lady with the tits that people are really horny for." Hopefully the writing will show non-comic readers that she's a genuinely fun character when used well as a foil to the rest of the cast, and hopefully her new outfit(s) will allow people to focus on that.
I do think something's a little off with the new outfit, though, even if I think it looks solid overall. Is it just that the heart motif is more abstract and less of a central focus here? That might be part of it. Maybe the suit just looks slightly overdesigned next to Team Sonic. Unsurprisingly I've also already seen multiple pieces of fanart giving this outfit a boob window, with one arguing that showing more of her skin tone on her torso gives the design better color balance, and... yeah, on that level I do kinda agree lol. Although I think a similar balance could be achieved just by having her upper arms be exposed or something. (Which is a feature on her bad timeline counterpart's outfit!) But, yeah, overall I do think I like it.
I also don't think they actually made her boobs smaller compared to most of her modern appearances despite the many, many, MANY claims to the contrary but I am not getting into that debate lol. Also she's literally still wearing a skintight catsuit and doing cool flying kicks you are not allowed to say they made her less hot
The fact that they're putting Rouge front and center has me VERY curious about her future prospects in the movie universe, though, given the particular projects currently in the works. To me, this makes it seem WAY more likely than it previously did. But who knows?
Uhhh anyway yeah the show looks good. I like pretty much everything we've seen so far. I like basically all of the previous Sonic cartoons except Underground to some extent, but if they stick the landing with this one then it seems like it'll pretty easily be the best one. I guess it's kinda lame that they made Sonic say "gotta go fast" in the trailer, but idk, it's a modern Sonic project, they gotta pay the obligatory lame meme toll. I am mostly fixated on Rouge because she's one of my favorite characters and her being on the main team is somehow the biggest curveball this show's previews have thrown so far, like seriously what.

Freddie Mercury: Queen Bee
by Caroline Coon
THERE’S nothing like a dearth of hero-stars to make a media industry writhe with despondency. Film moguls, unable to find successors to Monroe and Gable, are making a cult of anti-stars. But the pop industry needs the potent elixir, the excitement of using honest superlatives to sear through the blood, lifting the spirits. And pop scribes, like damp, weary pilgrims waiting for the dawn, have been aching to crown a new hero.
Then, just when the prognosis looked direst, with a dazzling whoooosh, darlings, up popped Freddie Mercury.
Suddenly we’ve discovered in our midst an exotic prancer, a quixotic chancer, an electronic Elgar who has penned some of the gaudiest, soaring rock and roll anthems to be heard in a decade.
Freddie, known for his meticulous attention to detail, couldn’t have planned his heir apparency better. He’s paid his dues. With Queen (Brian May — guitar, John Deacon — bass, Roger Taylor — drums) he’s had four years to survey the scene and build up the frenzied grass-roots following which left him impervious to the lack of affection in other quarters. However, with the delivery of Sheer Heart Attack, all the vehement dampeners with which critics received Queen’s two previous offerings have turned to outpourings of unrestrained enthusiasm.
Freddie’s wearing tight oyster grey satin pants, an antique market cream satin blouse and a scarlet velvet Victorian bed jacket. His hair is cormorant black, he flashes ebony eyes and his smile reveals a row of pearly white teeth which look ready to plunge into a meal of little girl burgers. He’s tapping the carpet with one white boot, the tabletop with a pen and for a moment I wonder anxiously whether I’m facing an irked prima donna. But “no, Mercury isn’t my real name, dear. I changed it from Pluto,” Freddie jibes. His gentle, deadpan camperie breaks the ice.
When you first formed Queen, did you aim pretty high, I asked. “That’s it. The whole group aimed for the top slot. We’re not going to be content with anything less. That’s what we’re striving for. It’s got to be there. I definitely know we’ve got it in the music, we’re original enough… and, now we’re proving it,” said Freddie, being uncharacteristically forceful.
You must have had a lot of self confidence? “You have to have confidence in this business. It’s USELESS saying you don’t need it. If you start saying to yourself ‘maybe I’m not good enough, maybe I’d better settle for second place,’ it’s no good. If you like the icing on the top, you’ve got to have confidence. I was a precocious child. My parents thought boarding school would do me good so they sent me to one when I was seven, dear. I look back on it and I think it was marvellous. You learn to look after yourself and it taught me to have responsibility.”
Your background is quite affluent then? “No it wasn’t as affluent as people think. It was middle-class. But I suppose I gave the appearance of being affluent. I love that. I still do. It’s all part of how you feel and how you project yourself.”
Freddie left boarding school when he was 16. He studied classical piano, to Grade 4, but being an arty lad, his parents encouraged him to develop this creative talent. “I went to Ealing Art School a year after Peter Townshend left. Music was a sideline to everything we did. The school was a breeding ground for musicians. I listened to Hendrix, really. I got my diploma and then I thought I’d chance it as a freelance artist. I tried. I did it for a couple of months, but I’d done it for so long I thought ‘my God, I’ve done enough.’ The interest wasn’t there. And the music thing just grew and grew. Finally I said ‘right, I’m taking the plunge, it’s music.’ I’m one of those people believes in doing those things which interest you. Music is so interesting, dear.”
Were you always a bit of a performer? “Well, on stage I just click. To be honest, performing comes quite easily realty. It doesn’t take me that much. I mean, I know it sounds conceited and there are a lot of setbacks and a lot of strains and nerves, but not nearly as much as there used to be. Now we are a headline band we know people have come to see us. Being support is one of the most traumatic experiences of my life.”
Yes, it seems as it the strain took its toll. Brian dropped out of the first American tour with hepatitis and Freddie was plagued with boils. “I tell you, I feel the after-effects of touring. We finished the British tour last night and I feel as if I’ve done a marathon every night. I’ve got bruises everywhere. Because it’s the music that matters, you’ve got to make sure there are key people around you, taking care of you.”
And now, what about the spectre of your success? Does it loom before you and keep you awake at night? “Quite often I have quite vicious nightmares — like the other night just before the Rainbow concert. We were sleeping in the Holiday Inn and I dreamed I went out on to the hotel balcony and the whole thing fell and I was a heap on the pavement. Really I was petrified when I woke up in the morning. And Roger has this nightmare where he’s drinking a bottle of Coke and the bottle smashes and he has broken glass all the way down his system. Ridiculous sort of things like that are caused by the tension which builds up.”
With all the energy you’re going to be putting into touring in Europe and America in the next few months, are you going to find the time to write? “Well, I don’t ever really sit down at the piano and say ‘right, I’ve got to write a song now.’ I feel a few things and I have ideas. It’s very hard to explain but there are always various ideas going through my head. ‘Killer Queen’ was one song which was really out of the format that I usually write in. Usually the music comes first, but the words came to me, and the sophisticated style that I wanted to put across in the song, came first. No, I’d never really met a woman like that. A lot of my songs are fantasy. I can dream up all kinds of things. That’s the kind of world I live in. It’s very sort of flamboyant, and that’s the kind of way I write. I love it.
“You don’t need money to give an air of being… ” he pauses, as if he’s afraid of revealing too much about himself. “I don’t know — sort of extreme. The showbiz thing of walking into a room and making sure that people know you’re there. I love being able to let myself go at times. The ideal thing for a group that is successful is to churn out more of the formula that worked. But we want to progress in our own terms.”
Will you have to take time off to write new songs? “It depends. Nobody knew we were going to be told we had two weeks to write Sheer Heart Attack. And we had too — it was only thing we could do. Brian was in hospital.”
What do you feel like under that kind of pressure? “Well, ‘Killer Queen’ I wrote in one night. I’m not being conceited or anything, but it just fell into place. Certain songs do. Now, ‘March Of The Black Queen’, that took ages. I had to give it everything, to be self indulgent or whatever. But with ‘Killer Queen’, I scribbled down the words in the dark one Saturday night and the next morning I got them all together and I worked all day Sunday and that was it. I’d got it. It gelled. It was great. Certain things Just come together, but other things you have to work for. The whole band is very particular. We don’t go in for half measures and I’m very hard with myself. There’re no compromises. If I thought a song wasn’t quite right, I’d discard it. I’m very intricate and delicate. You can see that in my paintings. I love painters like Richard Dadd, Mucha and Dali, and I love Arthur Rackham.”
You’re on the way to being a huge androgynous sex symbol. What does it feel like to know that there are thousand’s of lads and lassies out there who want a piece of you for themselves? “It’s a great feeling. I play on the bisexual thing because it’s something else, it’s fun. But I don’t put on the show because I feel I have to and the last thing I want to do is give people an idea of exactly who I am. I want people to work out their own interpretation of me and my image. I don’t want to build a frame around myself and say ‘this is what I am’ or ‘this is all I am.’
“To be honest. I’d like people to think there, is no falsity in me, because what I do is really my character. But I think mystique, not knowing the truth about someone, is very appealing. I’d be doing myself an injustice if I didn’t wear make-up because some people think it’s wrong. Even to talk about being gay used to be obnoxious and unheard of. But gone are those days. There’s a lot of freedom today and you can put yourself across anyway you want to. But I haven’t CHOSEN this image. I’m myself and in fact half the time I let the wind take me.
“I don’t go out to have very gay company but, I tell you, in this business it’s very hard to find friends — to have loyal friends and to keep them. Among my friends are a lot of gay people and a lot of girls and a lot of OLD men. The man I have as a chauffeur — we’ve, built up such a bond, it’s a kind of love, and I don’t care what people think about it. Putting people in different categories is unfair. You have to judge people on what they are.”
What kind of person are you? “How do you expect me to answer a question like that, dear! There are various aspects of me. The thing I treasure most, above music, is meeting people. I like being sociable, going out to functions and things and, generally, I’m likeable I think. But I can change and be very moody and obnoxious. I’m a sort of chameleon. Success is teaching me a lot of things and I’m adapting. You’ve got to learn to come up with decisions very quickly. There’s no beating about the bush in this business.”
Do you think you’re in control of the success trip? “We’re going to try to control it as much as we can. You’ve got to make sure that you don’t ever admit to yourself that this is your peak. If you admit to yourself that this your peak, then you’re on the way down. I really feel that we have so much more to offer. There’s masses waiting in store that we can give.”
How do you feel about the superstar label? “Honestly, labels like that are touch and go with us. We’ve been labelled so many different things and labels are as bad as they are good. If you took labels seriously, you’d be very silly. We were labelled ‘hype’ in the early days. We took offence, but we didn’t take it seriously because we knew what we were about.”
You told me earlier that you love affluence. Now that you’re on the way to becoming a very rich man, what are you going to do with your money?
“Spend it, my dear. I’m the one member of the band for whom money isn’t very endearing. I’m the one who spends it straight off. It just goes. On clothes and I like nice things around me.”

Spoilers for Ted Lasso 3x6: Sunflowers
🌻🌻🌻⚽️⚽️⚽️
So I seem to be one of very few people who got bad vibes from gezellig man.
From the “beautiful woman” line at the start, to chucking his phone in the canal, to the ‘accidental’ boo-boo kiss (there’s no way you’d mistake a grown woman’s ankle for your kid’s), to the ‘joke’ about drugging her tea, to the massive Tupperware of women’s clothes, to him failing to introduce himself, to him repeatedly coaxing her to drink alcohol (she said no to the brandy more than once, she said water instead of wine), to the “oh yes” at the end.
And everything else he said to her on the boat seemed a bit ‘Baby, It’s Cold Outside’ - even down to the passive-aggressive “It doesn’t affect me if you stay or go” which has an unspoken “but if you were cool, you would stay”. And so she did.
None of this behaviour is charming, imho, even if the (male) creators of this episode want us to think it is - it feels manipulative.
Honestly, the only use I have for him is that Rebecca got her groove back a little - but she’s still letting the persistence of a man change her mind (cf Rupert turning up to the bar and Sam waiting behind her front door).
Combined with his dad jokes, his Kenny Rogers, his broken-hearted divorce, and the “fuck me” tea, gezellig man just felt like a parody of Ted to me.
In the same way that the Yankee Doodle Burger Barn was a parody of America.
Or Piggy Stardust was a parody of David Bowie (sorry Beardo - you know what I mean).
SHOOT, even Roy was saying Amsterdam was like a Disney version of an old city! (With apologies to Amsterdam)
Maybe ‘Sunflowers’ was all about parodies/bad tribute acts/pale reflections of the real thing!
Tumblr media
PS I loved the episode otherwise, for SO many reasons (Colin and Trent! Roy and Jamie! Ted’s epiphany!) and the use of Brian Eno’s ‘Emerald and Stone’ for the Van Gogh scene was a genuinely beautiful moment that made me cry and made my husband very happy.

Teaser for ch 24 of Promised (Maylor/Queen Omegaverse Regency AU)
Author's Notes: Well, this is very challenging to write. Now that they have each other, things get just a little bit complicated for Brian and Roger. Ah, well. Every rose will have its thorns, after all. ^_~
Read the fic here.
Excerpt:
Helplessly, tenderly, Brian watched Roger sleep, so close beside him yet a million miles away in his own world where he went to every night, leaving Brian behind. He wished they were back in his cottage in Oxford, safe from the big, bad world that was about to bear down upon them.
Try as he would, he could not get the sobering conversations he’d had with Mr. Beach, with Freddie, from his mind. He could not remove from his consciousness what he’d overheard from Roger himself as he talked to Freddie in the billiard room.
“What does this make me then?” he’d asked Freddie only that afternoon.
Freddie had smiled. “My dear, you’re the ship’s mast that Odysseus had tied himself to as he faced the sirens. More than that, you’re his anchor, too, and his lifeline. His strength and stay.”
Was he really? Brian wondered as he gazed at Roger.
There was still something they hadn’t discussed, someone that Roger never brought up in the course of their week together. Brian hadn’t dared to broach the topic himself, afraid of what he might uncover, what he might need to deal with if he knew.
And just then, unbidden, a name surfaced from Roger’s lips, as if summoned by Brian’s unwelcome thoughts.
“Reggie…”
Buy the Muse some ko-fi to show her some love (and to make her write faster!) ^_~

"The Black Queen" and "the Black Queen Holds Aerial Court" by James F. Beveridge
Following this analysis post I made about the Black Queen Holds Aerial Court artworks that are up for auction at Sotheby's, I found and contacted the author on Facebook to ask him more about it, and it turned out he had no idea that his art was at Freddie's, let alone being auctioned! That's how he managed to ask Sotheby's to update the "Unknown Author" to his actual name.
He now made a post on Facebook telling the tale of these illustrations, shedding some light on them:
Well, it seems that I have had some of my art found in unexpected places but what has me rather excited is that apparently two of my fan art drawings of the band Queen have been in the possesion of Freddie Mercury since 1975.
The picture that I posted was one that I had doodled in Bic pen, a fantasy vision of the band based on Freddie's magnificent song "The March of the Black Queen" that I called "The Black Queen Holds Aerial Court" with each member of the band as her courtiers in a landscape of very vert tall unuque mushrooms, for almost obvious reasons. The difference between the picture on Sotheby's and mine is the date in blue ink in the lower left corner.
John was the Court Scholar, Roger, of course, was cast as the Court Jester with Brian as the White Knight riding a white dove and Freddie naturally, was the Court Magician. I drew that one while on a "blotter trip" as a stream of consciousness piece one day. The other picture was worked a little a little more. It was of the Black Queen as but the band was directly attending her with Freddie and Brian conjuring her a new crown.
I was, at first, a bit perplexed over as to how it ended up with Freddie. I then remembered that I was considering getting at least a copy of one of the pictures I'd done to Queen somehow at one of their concerts in Detroit. I think that it was perhaps their Cobo Hall concert but that was such a hectic time and I'd also attended their Ford Auditorium and Masonic Temple Theatre concerts prior to that big one so I wasn't positive until I dug a bit deeper into my visual memory. A friend, whose identity eludes me right now, who also attended that show mentioned that he could help to have it sent backstage to the band. So, I quickly dated and put the two pictures that I presumed were photocopies into a big brown envelope and went to the concert. It seems that the Black Queen in the Q picture that Freddie had was actually the original ink drawing. The lower right side is missing a part where I knew that it was weakend by my vigorous inking to make the Q flat black. The right edge of the Q's ink was a bit weakened from pressure and repeated lines and was going to separate sometime. I thought that it too was a photocopy but apparently in my rush I neglected to grab that one. I was a bit disappointed in myself that it wasn't the photocopy but I shrugged my shoulders, hoped they liked it and went on to draw new work.
Here now for the first time that I've posted this old 1975 oil painting that never made it to the band but hopefull might see it here. It is also the same characterization I was developing of Freddie's lady, my "Moonlight Flight of the Black Queen with her Blue Powder Monkeys" I'm also including my photo of the Aerial court drawing.

Queen's Hot Space Era: A Deep Dive
Masterlist
Tumblr media
I’ve been thinking over this album and era more than usual lately, and decided that I’d write this up. Perhaps as a way to extricate all the Queen knowledge from my head, and the era in question takes up quite a lot of RAM.
The Hot Space album, and era, is very controversial and to this day garners a polarising set of opinions amongst fans and critics alike. So I just thought what the hell, let’s let everyone know what the hell was going on with Queen in the early 80s.
The Hot Space album was the 10th studio album by Queen and was released on the 21st May 1982. It had elements of disco, funk, R&B, dance, and pop, which was very different to what Queen had been doing throughout previous albums. The dance elements of this album was supposedly inspired by the success of Another One Bites The Dust, released in 1980.
Another One Bites The Dust was extremely successful in the US and the UK, the two largest marketing countries in the Western world, at least at the time—and Queen aimed to prolong that success.
The band started recording for Hot Space in June of 1981, and spent a gruelling 10 months on the project before wrapping up the production element in March of 1982. Upon its release, fans and critics found it disappointing. Stephen Thomas Erlewine of Allmusic said “the band that once proudly proclaimed not to use synthesisers on their albums now dramatically reversed course, dedicating the entire first side of the album to robotic, new wave dance pop, all driven by drum machines and coloured by keyboards with Brian May’s guitar coming in as flavour only on occasion.”
The fourth track on Hot Space, Body Language, has been dubbed the worst song in Queen’s discography by fans, and the whole album received no more than a 3-star rating overall.
Rolling Stone gave them a 3-star, whilst the Encyclopedia of Popular Music gave a 1-star… Yikes.
Hot Space is one of the more obscure Queen albums to those who are not currently, or have ever been, active within the fandom. So we’re going to break it down a little bit, and let’s just talk about the background and context of what the hell was going on with them.
So in 1981, Queen recorded Under Pressure with David Bowie, and it’s still considered one of Queen’s staple and most popular songs. It was recorded in Montreux, and was a completely separate project to Hot Space. The band had met up with Bowie and jammed together for a while, just to see if they could come up with something to lay down and master. Of course, as most people know, bassist John Deacon came up with the iconic Under Pressure bass riff, just before they all went out to get some pizza. And by the time they’d returned to the studio, he’d forgotten it! But luckily drummer Roger Taylor remembered it.
Now, this was the first time Queen weren’t working alone; they were used to working only with their producers, never having had anyone else’s input. The two artists merged as one for the song and it pointed in the direction of a potential new road for Queen—it was looking like an exciting one.
But what went wrong during the recording of Hot Space?
Brian May recalls that there was a total change of life for all of them. They travelled to Munich and according to Brian, that’s when things started to go downhill.
Let’s talk a little bit about the studio in which they recorded the album in Munich. It was situated in the basement of a hotel, and it was called Musicland Studios. It closed in the 90s due to some road issues, so it’s no longer open. But Brian remembers this place being grim and depressing.
The band’s mental health started to deteriorate after learning some unsettling details about the place. In Brian’s words:
“A lot of people used to jump off the top of the building and kill themselves off that particular building. We didn’t know that until we got there.”
The urge to finish recording grew, and they spent months at the hotel.
The aim was to create an album that focused more on the dance elements of music due to the success of Another One Bites The Dust, as I mentioned before. They seemed to be in luck, as Freddie Mercury’s entourage at the time was concentrated with dance influences in the form of Paul Prenter.
Now, who was Paul Prenter, you ask? If you’ve seen the film, you’ll kind of already know, but here’s a bit more of an in-depth look at him.
Paul Prenter was Freddie Mercury’s personal manager from 1977 to 1986. Despite their professional relationship, the two also engaged in intimate relations, and Prenter had a huge influence over Freddie’s life during the time he worked for him. He held partial responsibility for Freddie’s excessive involvement in drugs, alcohol, and his growing promiscuity.
Freddie was known to have fired Prenter in 1986, and shortly after it was plastered all over the news. It turns out Paul Prenter had sold personal stories to the press about Freddie… What a dick.
After receiving money from multiple press outlets, he moved back to his hometown of Belfast and spent it all—smart. He then asked Freddie for more money! After all that, he went back and asked him for money! But it’s okay, he did succumb to complications from AIDS a few months before Freddie. So… Freddie got the last laugh, it seemed.
You’re probably wondering what Paul Prenter had to do with Hot Space. After all, he wasn’t part of the band, right?
Well, Freddie’s life was ruled by the New York-inspired gay lifestyle of the 80s, particularly engaging in extreme partying and extreme promiscuity. And at the time, Freddie had suggested to the band that the music on their new album should sound like that of which they’d play in a gay bar, but those words had initially come from Paul Prenter.
It’s said that Prenter despised guitars and relentlessly referred to Brian May as old-fashioned. Roger Taylor recalled that Prenter was a “very bad influence” on the band:
“He was a very, very bad influence upon Freddie, and hence on the band. He very much wanted our music to sound like you just walked in a gay club, and I didn’t.”
The strain and tension became inevitable with the four personalities—and we all know that John, Freddie, Brian, and Roger have massive personalities. Whilst they had always experienced bickering, as most bands do, they now with the added tension, the production of the album isn’t going to go as smoothly.
“Arguments would start off as creative, but slowly became personal.”
Brian recalls that less and less time was spent in the studio and more time was spent arguing.
To put it into perspective about what life was like for the 10 months they spent recording Hot Space in Munich…A regular day recording this album went a little bit like the following:
The entourage recall waking up at 3am, working for hours, having dinner, and then roadies would mix up cocktails and other things would pursue. The band got mixed up in cocaine and various other drugs. Random women, and relentless drinking, and as any sane person will tell you, that is not a good thing.
Roger described it as an exhausting cycle day after day. Imagine doing that for 9 whole months.
Brian remembers them getting into “deep trouble emotionally” in Munich, which possibly explains why their mental states deteriorated.
Now, the Hot Space era didn’t just end when the album came out. Obviously, when an album comes out, you have to do interviews to promote your album and after months and months of bad influences and arguments, the band’s relationship had kind of broken down. Things continued in quite a tense fashion.
In fact, Freddie was left very unhappy and depressed after Hot Space wrapped up—it lasted a while, and he was completely immersed in places and habits that remained detrimental to his fate. Freddie became passive during interviews and defensive on certain questions concerning anything but current projects.
His attitude during the 1982 press conference in Europe was already standoffish and it was extremely obvious that he didn’t want to be there. The body language of the others, especially Brian, speaks volumes. The mood is low and they all seem exhausted.
Another nationwide interview the band gave in promotion for the album presented the group separated; Freddie was notably disinterested as the others spoke. There was even a moment where Freddie responds to the interviewer’s question with “let’s break up tomorrow” as a joke. But, watching it, you can’t help but feel there’s some truth to his words. Nobody laughed, even Roger looked uncomfortable by it!
One of the more well-known interviews from this era was with Brian and Roger, which displayed multiple moments of awkwardness with them both trying to make jokes and seem like they’re happy with what they’d produced, making up amateur excuses as to why they created something with a different sound. In my opinion, they just didn’t seem very happy. Do we even need to mention the “shut up” from Roger, and then the succeeding comment from Brian about Mack having the best drum sound?
Then, we have the iconic 1984 Freddie interview, where he left viewers stunned with his answers:
“I love my job, but I hate talking to people like you,” “I’m not an artist, I’m just a musical prostitute, my dear.”
The long-term effects of what happened behind the scenes of Hot Space were everlasting and turned the group into four completely different people than they were prior to 1982.
As I’ve already mentioned, Hot Space wasn’t received well upon its release, and there are still very strong opinions about it today. Brian stated in 2014 that it isn’t the band’s worst album, but the timing of its release was just wrong. As time goes on, more people begin to accept the Hot Space album as just another reason why Queen is one of the most versatile groups of all time, with them branching out into very different styles to what they’d done earlier in their career, like Sheer Heart Attack, News Of The World, etc…
80s culture looked down upon disco and funk, so reception for Hot Space was bound to be less than amazing. However, today, all styles of music are simultaneously celebrated, and people enjoy the album more now than they did 40 years ago.
So in conclusion, recording Hot Space was a difficult period for Queen. It’s horrible to think about your idols going through the kind of thing they did in the early-mid 80s, influenced by not very nice people. But focusing on the album itself, it’s truly not a bad album at all. Granted, the timing of the release wasn’t the best for Queen, but it holds up as a fan favourite today.
If you haven’t heard any of the songs from Hot Space, besides Under Pressure, I highly recommend you check it out. It’s very different to what Queen usually did and I think it’s worth a listen.
Anyway, I’ll leave it at that. Let me know if you liked this little… post, whatever the hell it is, and if I should do more posts like this. I enjoy throwing all my useless knowledge onto a page lol.

‘𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗱𝗶𝗲 𝗮𝗱𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝘁, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗥𝗼𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗱𝗶𝗱𝗻‘𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗜𝗧 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗯𝘂𝗺!‘
Brian May on the Complex Legacy of Queen's Best-Selling Single:
"To be honest, it wasn't going down very well with the rest of us. You know, Roger actually didn't want to have it on the album."
Brian May reflected on the creative challenges behind "Another One Bites the Dust", noting how Roger Taylor "didn't want to have it on the album".
Released as the fourth and penultimate single from the 1980 LP "The Game", "Another One Bites the Dust" is widely credited as the British rock giants' best-selling singles, as well as a shining example of bassist John Deacon's songcraft. Combining funk and rock elements, the song was quite the departure for Queen, but, as Brian May tells Guitar World in a new interview, Deacon was "hell-bent on getting what he wants."
"Well, I don't think I was in it at all to start off with! Because he's hell-bent on getting what he wants. So it's his rhythm guitar playing – it's not mine. That very funky style, that's John. Oh yeah. And he wanted Roger to have a sort of disco-type sound. And it's all done on a loop, so Roger reluctantly put loads of tape on his drums and played very stiff, and Deacy made a loop out of it. So it starts to be unnatural at that point. It's a damn good loop, though, and it’s beautiful. And Deacy did the bass, Deacy did the rhythm."
And while Freddie Mercury "adored" the process, the guitarist notes how Roger Taylor was reluctant to even have it released as part of "The Game":
"He worked with Freddie on the vocal. Deacy didn't sing, so he would tell Freddie what the words were, and play the tune on the guitar. You can imagine it was quite a strange process. Freddie absolutely adored it. He just stepped into it with a vengeance. And he sang it until he bled! He was forcing himself to get those high notes and he loved it. Freddie really was such a driving force."
"Because, to be honest, it wasn't going down very well with the rest of us. You know, Roger actually didn't want to have it on the album, didn't like it. It was much too funky and not enough rock for him. I was a bit on the fence. I kind of enjoyed it. But it obviously wasn't the rock that I would have been creating. And I remember saying, 'Look, it needs a little bit of something a bit more dirty on it.'"
"I remember Michael Jackson hearing it and saying, 'That's where I want to be. That's what I want to do.' And I think his whole album which followed ['Thriller'] was deeply influenced by 'Another One Bites The Dust' and the fact that it straddled funk and rock. Michael came to the same place from a different direction. Very interesting!"
"It's actually still evolving, which is quite something after all these years. So every time we do it, it gets a little bit of a different drift. And I enjoy it a lot more these days. Because we have made it our own I suppose. It’s quite heavy. And we do it early in the set at the moment, which is quite adventurous. It’s in the sort of rock part of the set, which in the beginning you never would have thought."
"That song is a very important part of the Queen canon. It's perhaps our biggest song ever in terms of sales. I'm not sure, but it must be close."
