Out of everything, my favorite "We didn't mean to make 'em gay" Atlus moment with Shuake and P5R is how not engaging in any of the romantic routes, overall, doesn't affect the gameplay at all. You even get the best White Day bit with Soujiro + Ryuji choco, as a treat.

But not liking Akechi enough by either not completing his confidant or not choosing the right options means you don't get the complete True Ending. The game itself punishes you for not letting Akiren go to their pecualiar Akeshu-brand dates, or for not making him admit how much he cares about their proposal promise.

I hate them.

cold fruit in a hot kitchen (so i had this great watermelon last weekend)

#so I had this great watermelon last weekend. and the thing is it probably wasn't even that great of a watermelon #but I was four hours into an eight hour shift and we had thrown out all the watermelon salad because no one was eating it #and then our manager ran in and yelled that the client really fucking wanted watermelon salad.#so like six of us servers started frantically chopping watermelon. and the kitchen got really hot #in the way it does when everyone inside it is really stressed because there's no fucking watermelon salad #and after we chopped all the watermelon and the client got their fucking watermelon we all had a moment #where we looked at the remaining watermelon and we were so hot and cocktail hour was almost over anyway and the salads were all plated #and we all went for the watermelon and we ate it with the kind of rabid intensity you only get while eating cold watermelon in a hot kitche #and it was the best watermelon I have ever tasted and several days later i am still chasing the high of that fucking watermelon #and the thing is i know it isn't even the watermelon i'm actually missing #it's the feeling of cool liquid on hot skin and the feeling of a crisis averted and the feeling of camaraderie #that comes with devouring a watermelon in a hot kitchen with six other people who you have nothing in common with except that watermelon.#i don't dream of labor but i am dreaming now of being 4 hours into an eight hour shift eating watermelon in a hot kitchen.#i dream of laughing around the cold fruit in my mouth. I'm a real tragedy enjoyer but Luis's death is no longer narratively enjoyable for me, now it just feels like an insult. I'm tired of characters having to die to be "redeemed". It's not their death that is the redemption, it's the fact that they were willing to die in the first place; it's the intent of sacrifice. I much prefer a narrative where Luis survives and is forced to every day atone for his past mistakes. I much prefer when characters don't get the respite of death, when they have to live with their demons, when they have to face their past and maintain their growth. And it's especially maddening when the only reason Luis dies is because he did in the original. They'll change his character so much to give him substance but they won't change his fate? I don't want that.

#persona 4 #p4 #persona 4 golden #p4g #hanamura yosuke #yosuke hanamura #narukami yu #souyo #OK I LOVE THIS PARTICULAR SCENE FOR MANY MANY REASONS #the first is that the question is a false choice because all answers lead to him calling yosuke anyway #because whether YOU the player like it or not yosuke is yu's first choice and first point of contact his confidant his best friend #the person he relies on when he needs something done his right hand man etcetc #and yosuke doesnt just show up #he anticipates what you had in mind and goes above and beyond #SECOND him calling all of your friends so that he can bring them to a party for a kid he doesnt know #this is once again Yosuke's empathy on display here he understands loneliness and he understands both what shu needs from a single call #as well as what Yu wants because he also gets Yu's empathy and kindness towards Shu #thinking about how Yukiko said Yosuke was more well connected than she was and it kind of destroys me because in practice #any one of them could have called and everyone would have showed up BUT on some level it is understood that it's yosuke's role to rally the #also that's that extra level of like... yukiko actually being from inaba and having lived there all her life...#while yosuke was the “outsider” that had only been in inaba for a little over a year yet he's still regarded as the one with friends #and you know that Yu knows that too thats why he called Yosuke #calling yosuke when he decides to get a cake or presents makes sense because junes is probably the only store still open at night #but calling yosuke as well when yu decides that he needed to call on his friends #that itself means something #god my fucking heart guys #he's good with his queue

Not to keep beating dead horses like I so much love to do but I am still completely Flabbergasted and Astonished at how you (Merle Ambrose) could discover the most terrifying fact that a child that is essentially under your care has been indoctrinated into a cult (which, by the way, a process that has taken over the course of years) ((by an agent that has been stationed in a direct position to make it easier to access and manipulate children, that has easily escaped your notice for such a long time)) that worships a nihilistic entity whose ultimate goal is the absolute and total destruction of Everything and Everyone around you, and your one, single, simple-sentenced response to that is to say "Oh, that's a shame. He (Duncan) always was pretty terrible. Hope he gets better someday." And then to move on from those extremely worrying and dangerous bundle of issues permanently without taking any sort of action to protect the vulnerable and make sure nothing like this ever happens again

#i love ambrose as a character but the things he does makes me clench my fists so hard blood circulation gets cut off #the absolute.... lack of care ambrose has for certain things literally render me speechless #and like okay in his uh. in his uh “defense”. there was like. other stuff going on at the time. i get that #like the end of the world for the 7th time yeah there were other things on ambrose's plate #but i dont know how many different ways to put “your children are being manipulated and kidnapped into a cult that means them harm under-#-your nose and it can absolutely happen again“ and make that stick #you... i #that is a horrifying fact to learn and the response is dismissive at BEST #like im not saying ambrose should adopt all 800 children that go to his school or whatever #but like... DO SOMETHING #you have COMPLETE AND UTTER INFLUENCE OVER THE NATIONAL GUARD. DO YOU REMEMBER THAT? USE THAT #send out watch parties! hold stranger danger assemblies! have adults regularly check in with kids! install a curfew!
