Y/N’s POV
Things had been hard ever sense coming home from the rangers. You thought the moment you touched down on US soil everything would be okay.
That you would be able to take off the uniform and put all those bad memories and feelings into the closet and lock it away.
But that wasn’t the case which seemed pretty obvious now. Things were not doing okay and you were not where you thought you would be in live.
You thought you would be married with kids and having a career. But that was from the life you had now.
You were in bad relationship with a guy you had no business being with. He was a piece of crap guy.
He always took every little thing out on you. And you always just ended up taking it. Not wanting to make the situation worse.
With your PTSD and other things you had going on you thought life was as good as it was going to get.
That you didn’t want to burden someone else with the struggles you were going through. Someone else didn’t deserve the weight you carried.
Everyone you knew from the rangers had gone their own way. You never really kept in contact with them and decided it was best that way.
Maybe seeing them would be to hard. Or that is what you told yourself anyways.
The connections you had were just gone and it was honestly hard dealing with the pain of that to.
You had 2 other people you were close with that you thought you had true connections to.
Jay halstead and Greg Gerwitz aka Mouse. It was always the 3 of you together  and you seemed to have different feelings for Jay.
The kind that missed him while he was gone and always got butterflies when he touched you.
You thought about asking him out but you didn’t want to ruin one of the most important relationships you had. Besides he never seemed to recuperate so you didn’t want to get hurt.
Once the 3 of you were honourably discharged and thanked for your service you all went back home.
Conveniently you all lived in Chicago which is what also strengthen your bond. But once you all got home you went your separate ways.
Maybe it was just hard on them to so you tried your best to understand. So you went into your little box and then just shut out the world. You didn’t even bother trying it all just seemed so pointless
But now it just seemed like someone was taking a hammer and breaking at the box making you come out.
You tried to patch the holes but it seemed like it wasn’t working and you just didn’t know what to do.
It wasn’t even a good thing that it was breaking at least right now it wasn’t. You knew your boyfriend was up to no good and know he was getting you involved in it.
He was running drugs at first. You knew that and against your better judgement you didn’t do anything about it. He wasn’t getting involved so you didn’t say anything. But now he was upping his game.
He was selling weapons and bomb materials. He was using your name on the weapons so they didn’t check his background.
You didn’t even know until now because you got a letter in the mail about your background check
You were shocked obviously , confused and hurt. You kept thinking about what you were going to do ?
You knew you had a duty to protect the public it was in your blood. But then the other part of you was worried that no one would believe you.
You also wondered what the hell Keith would say ? I mean not that you cared what that horrible man would think but you also tried so hard not to even think about it.
Right now you were sitting at the table in your kitchen biting your nails. Something you did when you were always nervous.
Suddenly the door opened up and they slammed the door breaking your thoughts. You also jumped out of fear.
“Y/n where the hell are you” The voiced barrelled out.
Keith of course
“Hey babe I’m in here “ You said quietly
“We need to leave right now “ keith said.
“What no i’m not leaving” You said
“I really wasn’t asking let’s go” He yelled
“Why don’t you talk to me and we can work this out okay” You pleaded
“I’m not talking about this anymore” He yelled grabbing your arm.
You snatched it back and then stood up to look him in his eyes.
“I know okay I know why you want to go” You said
“How” was all he asked
“They sent me a letter in the mail from my background check” You said
“Damn it” He yelled knocking stuff on the table.
It shook you up and you just kept starting down at the ground. Not knowing what the hell your next move should be right now. A little to scared to move.
Suddenly the front door swung open again and you heard shouting
“Chicago PD No one move” A familiar voice yelled out.
You snapped your head up to the blonde hair man looking just as shocked as you.
“Y/N Omg is that you” Jay asked
“Jay what the hell is going on” You asked.
“You know each other” A brown haired girl asked she was very pretty.
“Yeah we were in the military together” Jay asked
Some brown haired guy walked over and grabbed you
“Come on put your hands behind your back” He said
You looked over at pleading eyes to Jay. You didn’t even do anything wrong. This was all on him.
“No let her go I got her” Jay said.
He walked over to you and touched your arm slightly and nodded you for him to follow you. The brown hair girl looked at him with a confused and upset look.
He just seemed to shrug it off and walk past her and went straight outside. You didn’t say anything to him thought still a bit shaken up. You were just confused about was going on.
Jay didn’t say anything either and you had a heart time reading what he was feeling or what he was even thinking. He walked you out to a black car and opened up the door and sat you in the back.
Then he looked around for a little bit like he was making sure no one was looking and he got in on the other side.
His face was reading like it was hurt and he didn’t know what to say because he didn’t want to hurt you. You knew he was pretty disappointed in seeing you wrapped in all of this.
“ Do not say anything okay you hear me” He said
“What do you mean I didn’t do anything” You pleaded with him.
“Y/N look i know your name was pulled up in the damn report to buy the stuff” Jay said
“That’s how far It got and I didn’t even know he was using my name at all I swear okay Jesus I would Never” You said
“Okay if that’s what you say but when we get there not a damn word to anyone but me” He said.
“Fine” You said just sitting back and not really saying anything.
Jay got out and he walked away and you didn’t know where he went because the windows were tinted and you couldn’t even see anything.
You just laid you head back and squeezed your eyes closed. You just hoped maybe when you would open them back up it would be some sort of dream. That this wasn’t really happening to you.
You could feel the tears rolling down on your cheek. The salty water hitting your lips. God how did you get here and why. This wasn’t happening not to you.
Suddenly you sat up and opened your eyes when the car doors opened up. You sat up and wiped the tears away. Jay and the brown haired girl got in. There was a air in the car like you could just tell they were arguing about something.
You just sat up and put your seat belt on and they took off. No one was speaking and you could cut the tension with a knife.
You just kept driving on the way to the station. You finally made it there and they pulled up in the front. They both got out and Jay walked over to your side and opened up the door.
You got out and he kept right by your side without moving, It was hard to tell if it was because he was keeping you from running or was he protecting you. It seemed like the latter but it was hard to tell.
You walked into the station and it seemed like everyone had stopped what they were doing and just stared at you. Or maybe you were just being dramatic.
There was a lady at the front desk who looked up and gave a mean look towards your way. You wondered what the hell you did to her.
Jay didn’t say anything he just walked you up the stairs and keyed in some numbers and the door opened up.
You walked up the stairs and walked into a office/ work pen area. There were desk every where and you were surprised to see something on what was obviously Jay’s desk. There was a picture on the desk with you Jay and Mouse.
It made your heart pound. And you can’t believe he kept it. DId it mean something or was it just sentimental ? You felt like you were getting in your head again.
He walked you to a room and he pointed for you to sit down. He went and shut the door behind him. You didn’t see where the other girl went. She got lost in the crown downstairs.
He just looked at you with concern in his eyes. Your pride was getting the best of you because you were going to start this conversation. Jay was probably thinking the same thinking because he wasn’t saying anything either.
Finally he bit his tongue and spoke up.
“What the hell is going on” He asked in a soft tone.
You didn’t really say anything just kept looking down at your hands and playing with your fingers.  He grabbed your hand and gave it a squeeze and then you finally looked up at him.
You didn’t know what to say or know where to start really. So you just took a deep breathe and tried to muster up some strength to start.
“ I wasn’t lying I mean I legit just found he was using my name to buy weapons okay I was gonna say something” You said.
“ I did know about the dealing and stuff I just figured it wasn’t that big of a deal” You shrugged.
“Not that big of a deal we fought to protect to keep people safe now your sleeping with low lives what the hell happened to you” Jay yelled.
You started feeling the anxiety creep up inside of you. You felt like your breathing was staggering and you felt like you were getting dizzy. You thought you were going to pass out.
You closed your eyes and tried to calm down but it really wasn’t working. Then you felt these hands wrap around you. They squeezed you tight and you heard him whisper. It sounded like it was really far away.
“It’s okay I’m here for you.” You heard Jay’s voice soften up.
He didn’t leave your side and kept your hand on your back trying to soothe you. Finally after a few minutes you started to calm down.
You looked up at him and didn’t even realise you were crying until you felt the tears on your face.
You wiped the tears from your face and Jay took his hand and placed it on your face in a conforming manner.
“I’m here I’m not going anywhere” He said.
“Thank you” You said in a low soft tone.
“Why don’t we walk through this together okay me and you” He said
“ I swear okay I didn’t know about the weapons until like 2  days ago. I found out when I got the letter in the mail saying my background was clear” You said
“What about the drugs” Jay asked
You looked at him and nodded and just started crying again.
He wiped those tears from your face and gave you a smile but his face said it was disappointed.
“How did we get here” He asked.
“Things just got bad you know I was struggling and thought if i just ignored it then the problem would go away. “ You said.
“I get that but I’m here okay you don’t have to do this alone and I can get you some help okay but I also need your help as well.” Jay said.
“I don’t know you don’t know him like I do” you hesitated.
“That’s a good thing listen to me this is going to get you free and take a bad guy off the street save lives. This is also going to be a good thing for you a new beginning” Jay said.
“Yeah yeah” You said
“Its going to be hard and it’s not going to be easy but you are strong and you are brave and you are going to get through this” Jay said.
“Okay” You breathed.
“Tell me everything” Jay said.
“I know he deals to some white people up North soccer moms and stuff but I don’t know about the weapons” You said.
“You think he would tell you” Jay said
“No I don’t think he would but his friends might” You said
“Okay we will set you up with a wire and get the information that way” Jay said.
“Yeah sure” You said
“So that brown hair girl is she your girlfriend” you asked.
“Yeah she is” Jay said
“Is it serious” You asked
“Not really i guess we just been hanging out” Jay said.
“What’s her name” You asked
“Erin Linsday” Jay said
“ she seems good for you and You deserve to be happy Jay and if she’s good for you” You said.
“She’s just not” Jay was saying then the door opened and Erin walked in.
“We need a statement from her and what’s going on” Erin asked
“Nothing were just talking” Jay said.
She looked like she didn’t believe him. She just nodded and walked out. Jay also had a look on his face where it was hard to read what the hell was going on.
“I’ll be back okay” Jay said
You nodded and he placed a hand on your shoulder and walked out and shut the door.  You just sat there  and took deep breathes.
You heard from the room there was yelling.
“jay what the hell are you doing you are leading her this is going to throw this case this is way to personal” The brown hair girl yelled
“It’s not Erin I told you I am helping her out okay she is not some criminal okay She is my family and she doesn’t deserve to be shoved in some box she earned better than that” Jay said
You tried not to looka them and gave them their space.
There was a part of you that wasn’t sure if this was even the right move but you know you had to try.  Jay was right people’s lives were in danger and you could risk that.
It was just hard looking in the mirror and seeing how you got here. Going from being a decorated solider to this a heaping pile of mess.
The silence  was hard it just made you think about everything which is something you didn’t want to do.
After what seemed like forever Jay walked back in and he looked at you and smiled. He was holding a small box in his hand.
“I would say yes but your already seeing someone” You said smiling
He looked at you and smiled and sat down.
“Well good to know I have options” He said
“So what is that thing” You asked
“ A wire made like a necklace” Jay said.
‘Yeah so this is real” You said
“You can say no we will figure it out another way” Jay said
“No I can handle this” you said looking up and smiling.
“Hear come here” Jay said
You both got up and he walked over and you turned to him and pulled your hair up. He put the necklace on you.
You turned back and smiled at him
“You ready to roll out” Jay said.
“Yeah let’s do it I can text Jimmy to meet me down at the bar we hang” You said
“Okay sounds like a plan I’ll let the team know we gotta get ready so you can hang at my desk while we go gear up” Jay said.
You both walked out the room and you Jay walked you over to his desk. You sat down looking at the picture you saw earlier. Wondering what the hell had happened to you.
The rest of his team all kind of scattered not really acknowledging you. Then after a little bit Jay signalled for you to come on.
You walked out with him and Erin and got back into the same car as before. It was  quiet as no one was saying anything.
After giving Jay address you all left to headed out.
“Are you sure he’s gonna even be there” Erin asked
“Yeah I’m sure he practically lives there” You said.
She didn’t say anything after that but her and Jay glanced looked at each other.
The car ride was silent and the ride took a little bit to get there. It was just one of those neighbourhood bars. That sat on the corner and if you weren’t a regular you sat out like a sore thumb.
Jay pulled up and you and Erin looked back at you with a serious look.
“You got this” Erin asked
“I’m fine okay I was a ranger” You said not liking the tone she asked or maybe you were reading into it.
You got out and walked over to the door. You stopped and closed your eyes for a minute taking a breath.
Then walked in and looked around looking for Jimmy.  He was sitting at a table already a few beers in.
You walked over and sat down in front of him. You grabbed a beer and started drinking and Jimmy looked at you and smiled.
“Y/N how you doing where’s your man” He asked
“Busy he sent me to talk about the plan” You said
Jimmy looked up at you with a look on his face.
“What plans Y/N” He asked
“Come on man I know about the arms that’s it But Keith asked me to ask you about the plans he was drunk as hell but you know me” You said .
“Your right” Jimmy said
“I do know you and you never really cared about this before always kept in the shadows why should I believe you” Jimmy asked
“Fair point but look okay I got denied my VA benefits the one’s I been fighting for. All that trauma for nothing so now there gonna pay” You said.
“I like that so listen we got the weapons. Okay were planning to hit the Recruitment centres and then we got plans for some government buildings” Jimmy said
“The guns where are they” You asked
“Down in the basement at my place” Jimmy said
“Good it’s a plan” You said
You both sat and talked for a little bit more. To make it seem like you weren’t just fishing. The hate this man talked about it was disgusting.
After a little bit you pulled out and headed back to the car. Jay was smiling at you and Erin even looked a little impressed
“Nice job Y/N I knew you still had balls” Jay said.
“See i told you i Had it” You said
“So where to now” You asked
“Were getting you home we deal with the rest” Jay said
You just nodded and looked outside the window. It felt like you were getting a small part of you back.
Finally you made it home and Jay got out and walked you out. You both walked up to your front door.
Jay smiled at you and you smiled back and you both let out a laugh
“So what now” You asked
“I told you I’m getting you help. I will be here every step of the way for you. I know the old you will come back and I’m so excited for her to” Jay said
“Yeah I am to and thank you for everything” You said
“Of course were family and everything that comes after” Jay
“And everything that comes after” You said.
You both pulled into a hug and when Jay let you go he kissed the top of you head.
“Good night Jay” You said
“Good Night Y/N” Jay said
You walked in after that. You threw your stuff down and headed in. You looked around the house and cleaned it. From top to bottom. Then you took a shower and washed it all off. Everything felt like it was a brand new start to the next chapter of your life.

My take on Kotoko as a morally gray person, about a morally gray character who thinks in black and white
first of all, i absolutely love this woman, so all of this comes from a kotoko enjoyer, but when talking about canon i can not turn the blind eye to the wrongs she has done. i will talk about my perception of her murder, of her as a character and about her beating up the guilty prisoners (i will put this emoji 🐺 when i jump subjects just to keep it organized)
this next phrase is my personal take, i know some will disagree with me and thats okay, which also works as a tl;dr:
Kotoko didnt do anything wrong outside the prison, but she did wrong inside of it
i know beating up people isnt actually good, but she did research upon research to get to the bottom of the cases she was investigating and found the culprits this way. "but she could've brought them upon justice" and you arent wrong about that, but the victim she actually murdered, even when his identity was revealed to the public, the law didnt bring justice upon him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
screenshots & translations from @/maristelina (i didnt put everything in here, if you wanna check all the articles, please go check on their post!)
her victim was a child murderer, he had already killed 10 girls in 2 years, but even then, he was still free because of his father’s position of power.
then we have her other victim, the man she beat up and sent to the hospital
Tumblr media Tumblr media
there are a couple articles dedicated to this one. but a quick run down: the man, Mikio Oshii, was wanted for theft and assault, having tricked at least 2 or 3 elderly people, pretending to be a bank employee, and convincing them to hand over cash, he pushed one of his victims, fracturing her ankle.
Tumblr media
then we have the article about Kotoko’s assault. again a quick run down: someone heard screaming and found a man lying on the ground, who had lost consciousness after being beaten up, and was taken to the hospital. the police suspects a man (kotoko was wearing men’s sneakers and covering herself up). the victim was wanted for theft and assault charges and was Mikio Oshii.
further proving that she was aiming at people who prayed on the weak, she had good intentions (at least at first), and we also have the facts that she was trying to go through the lawful(?) path at first
Tumblr media
she was studying law, showing us that she genuinely believed her cause, bringing justice to the world and protecting the innocent, or “weaklings” as she calls them, more on that later.  that she was gonna try and go for the morally correct route, but what changed? what is that thing she “wants to do”? i hope we get to see her reasoning on the next trial. for now i agree with the theory that says that her or her family was victim of someone like the guy that was above law for having money and a father with a position of power. showing her the flaws of the law/justice system and thus taking matters into her own hands.
🐺 i personally believe that there are some people who dont deserve second chances, like pedos and rapists, and like the man kotoko murdered, between others. so this is why i forgive her from her crimes. she did proper research, she is passionate about it, she wants to protect the weak, or thats what she tries to convince herself of, because this brings me to my next point
she does have those violent tendencies, and she enjoys them
Tumblr media
“this feels so good”
this is from the t1 trailer, people suspect this were phrases they said after their murders. so i think there is a possibility that while she was trying to convince herself that her actions were for justice, to try and protect the weak, and i dont doubt that that was where it came from at first, she ended up doing it out of personal enjoyment.
i once read that “if you do a good deed because you want to do it, it means that you arent a good person. to be a good person you need to do good deeds without wanting something in return” meaning that you should be uninterested on even the satisfaccion of said deed. this is a phrase that i absolutely hate and dont agree with, but i think it applies in here. kotoko was trying to do something “good” (morality is on the bearer’s eyes) by bringing to justice people who kept escaping it, by taking revenge for those weaklings she so desperately wants to protect, and while thats her main motivation, she also does it because she wants to.
i believe my girl has a thirst for power. she is self righteous, the way she refers to the people she wants to protect as “weaklings” its like shes putting them down in some way, the way on her VD she just wants to keep rambling about her theories, the way she inserted herself on Mikoto’s interrogation, the way she just assumes Es’ intentions and doesnt seem to accept when they call her out on it. she doesnt listen to others at all and once her mind is set on something, there is nothing that can move her from there. she isnt a good person…. but also, she isnt a bad person, and i feel that the fandom forgets those two statements can coexist. even if she sees herself as a saint, and firmly believes that she did nothing wrong, thats because
🐺 her world view is black and white. and this is why while i condone her actions on her murder, i do not condone her actions of beating up the guilty prisoners.
a lot of the prisoners have a black and white morality, heck, milgram itself as a system IS black and white. and from what i’ve read, a lot of the fandom also thinks in black and white. all of which i find extremely… interesting…. tbf its the nd majority vote game about nd murderers on the nd website, so makes sense (im half joking, sorry)
kotoko attacked the guilty prisoners because thats what she had been doing, and thats what she got voted innocent for on t1 (i wasnt around). but no one told her to do that, she acted on her own, she misinterpreted her judgment and forced her opinions and methods on others, claiming it were Es’, without their knowledge and without ours.
as a side note, when i first got into the fandom, i found surprising to see that kotoko was inno and fuuta was guilty on t1, since from my perspective their crimes are basically the same, they both exposed and harrowed “bad” people.
i make a lot of emphasis on black and white thinking, since its something im familiarized with, for example lets talk Amane since its her trial is still going
Tumblr media Tumblr media
she is the type of girl who will correct other’s mistakes, who will call them out and try to fix them so that the others can be right, like her. her truth is absolute and even when it flails, she stands her ground and proceeds to believe in herself and her views of the world. in what i said, you could re read that and it would also apply to kotoko, and just like her, Amane also convinced herself of doing something she wanted to do by telling herself it was the right thing to do. kotoko’s “protecting the weaklings” directly translates to amane’s “punishing her mother for her sins (hurting the cat)”. so while in both cases there were hidden feelings, something tells me neither of the girls knew about their own ulterior motives, thats how well they convinced themselves.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
people who think in black and white just see it as it is, right or wrong, left or right, green or blue, there is no other choice but those two. and from my personal experiences with myself and with others, its something you end up applying in almost every aspect of your life and its really difficult to change up this way of thinking. beginning to see the grays of the world and its other options its not an easy task without some proper help
overall, i dont believe she was right for hurting the guilty prisoners, and fuuta losing his eye because of her gives me a horrible gut feeling. overall, it also ties on her need for power, since she firmly believes shes Es’ “fang”, thus reducing herself a weapon for justice, not implementing her own judgment anymore, but someone else’s, ours, which my problem with her actions in this scenario. i firmly believe that if outside the prison she had came across mahiru or fuuta, she wouldn’t have attacked them, but  after her t1 inno, and getting her ideals supported, her beliefs became radical, and now shes going based on our ideals, our judgments, our right or wrong, our black and white morality, MILGRAM’s black and white morality.
🐺 im still a kotoko inno truther, and i love her, shes my favorite character. but i dont expect her to get innocent this trial, as she did wrong. i dont want to say it was our fault that she harmed the other prisoners, since we had no way of knowing this would happen. in retrospect we can say whatever we want, but none of us can read the future.
i dont even have a real argument on why you should vote her innocent “shes pretty” is not good enough lmao… but who knows, maybe we will see something that makes her worthy of an inno vote on her second trial a few months from now (not counting on it, probably wont be enough)
in the end i wrote this because im really passionate about this character and her black and white views on the world (shes so intense). and because this beautiful person @archivalofsins told me to "keep talking about kotoko" and i have zero self control regarding this fictional woman.
🐺 i believe with the help of a third party, someone who could act as a moral compass to her and could teach her that the world has more colors, more choices, and if she actually learns about this, she would end up being an amazing thing.
also, if the theory about her being an accomplice of the serial killer turns out to be true, i will puke and cry :)

EDIT: i fucked up and forgot to add a pic and it won’t let me so. yeah. also i fixed the out of order mistake i’m so sorry😭
ONCE AGAIN THE OC JORDAN IS NOT MINE‼️‼️‼️ it’s the dearest @kotoprincesa !!
hey…life…am i right?
yeah hopefully you saw the post LMFAO ya boy has had a weird week
i’m sorry this is a short one but like i said shit is crazy
i rlly hope i’ll have time to write tomorrow 😭
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
AND SINCE THIS IS LATE IM GONNA FINALLY TELL U HOW EVERYONE GOT THEIR NICKNAMES FROM BKG MWAHAHA YES:
Sero-tape arms/soy sauce:
1. tape arms is from when it was their freshmen year of high school, and sero once got RLLY drunk at some senior’s party….anyways he got tied up by a bunch of girls. with tape. (yes he did cry as the gang ripped off the tape) fun fact!! Jordan was actually at that party (their cousin was the hostess) and was the one who told the bakusquad abt him getting taped up!
2. soy sauce is from the very first prank Kaminari did on the channel where he gave sero a glass of soy sauce but told him it was coke (sero didn’t speak to him for three days afterwards)
Mina-pinky/raccoon eyes:
pinky is like rlly obvious she has pink hair, BUT raccoon eyes is a much more funny story! you see, just like her lover; kirishima, she too had a sort of…alt-y phase. in her case, she experimented with black clothing but more importantly, black eyeshadow. like. a LOT. kirishima thought it was the CUTEST thing ever and was low key upset when she stopped doing it💀
Kirishima-weird hair/shitty hair/spiky:
he just had a rlly bad haircut when they came back to school for their sophomore year, it was legit like how teen guys had it in the early 2000s-gelled up into spikes 🫥
Kaminari-Sparky:
he tried rewiring their broken fan in college. got electrocuted. went to the hospital. yeah.
Hitoshi-eyebags:
he may not get sleep now, but it was RLLY bad their jr year of high school dear GOD. everyone would have to FIGHT him to get him to go to sleep, even putting that powder melatonin in his drinks 😭😭 (it was actually kats’ idea :(( such a sweetie)
Shoto-IcyHot:
shoto had this…phase…half way thru sophomore year of high school where he would over work himself with sports/work that he would literally put on icyhot every. single. day. (it drove EVERYONE crazy but no one dared to say anything)
Jirou-headphones:
ALL throughout high school jirou always had her headphones in. there wasn’t one time where she wasn’t listening to music and bkg being the old man he is thought it was “incredibly rude” and “disrespectful” (karma is a bitch tho bc after this HIS nickname was old man)
Momo-ponytail:
yeah the gang wasn’t kidding when momo went thru an INTENSE ponytail phase like she would gel it and everything😭😭😭the girls would be begging for momo just to keep it down or else she’ll keep getting called jojo siwa by the freshmen
Iida-four eyes/glasses:
….uh it’s kinda obvious LMFAO
Ochako-pink cheeks:
so bkg and ochako were actually #besties after they put their differences aside (after bkg apologized to izuku) and she would ALWAYS go to him and rant abt her crush on Iida. so, as “revenge” he would call her pink cheeks whenever she was talking to Iida. HOWEVER that so backfired on him bc the nickname made iida think bkg liked ochako (he also noticed their newest infatuation w/each other) and iida one day went to bkg to tell him HE liked ochako and was like “i see that you and ochako have made a new relationship, but i just need to tell you i have feelings for ochako.” anyways. bkg was going thru new anger management stuff and he had to take VERY deep breaths in order not to lose his shit LMFAO
Izuku-Nerd:
….do i really need to say anything? 🤨🤨
hope you enjoyed that! thank you for the wait i love u guys 🫶🫶🫶

Nail To The Coffin - S2 - Chapter 4
Tumblr media
Warnings: brief mention of drugs
Pairing: Steve Harrington x f!Byers!Reader
Word Count: 6328
A.N: Ok! Sorry it took so long but we’re finally entering the actual interesting part of the plot of season 2! Hang on tight! Also, I’ve decided to humanize Billy a bit more because I really do believe he has the potential to become a good person if only there’s someone he can relate to and someone to show him kindness which is a foreign concept for him. As always, please do make me know if I’ve written certain characters OOC and if you think there is something that can be corrected within the story. Thank you for reading. Hope you like it! 🖤 🥀
Masterlist || Chapter 3 || Chapter 5
Tumblr media
“Maybe we should check the backyard?” suggested Lucas and you nodded but suddenly Dustin halted.
“Dustin?” you heard your mother’s voice and you saw her after you rounded the corner after the boy.
“Mrs. Byers?”
“What’s going on? Where’s Will?” asked Joyce frantically before she saw you. “Y/N, honey, weren’t you supposed to pick him up?”
“That’s what I was doing, mom. I came here right after I finished my practice but I had no idea that AV was canceled because no one bothered to tell me,” you grit out the last part with a tight smile as you looked at Dustin and he shifted guiltily in his spot.
“Thank God I called the teacher’s office to check on things. Where-where is he?”
Before anyone could answer, Lucas – who none of you noticed had run off to check outside – rushed in, drawing your attention.
“The field!” he shouted urgently before running back out and you didn’t hesitate to follow.
You found your brother rooted in one place, frozen and unmoving despite Mike shaking him and trying to snap him out of the state he’d fallen in.
“I just found him like this!” exclaimed the boy worriedly as you rushed to your brother. “I think he’s having another episode!”
“Will? Will!” you shouted as you grabbed him by the shoulders and shook him lightly.
“Sweetie, wake up! It’s mom!” joined Joyce. “Will! Will, wake up!”
“C’mon, honey, listen to us. Wake up. Please!” you spoke frantically as you tapped his cheek.
It felt as if hours passed since you and your mom began shaking Will and tried waking him up while he stayed paralyzed with his pupils moving behind his eyelids but in fact it was barely а minute.
Then he snapped back into reality with a sharp gasp, eyes blowing wide open.
Everyone let out relieved sighs.
“Can you hear me, baby?” you asked as you squeezed his shoulders and he gulped, nodding slowly. “Are you alright? Does it hurt anywhere? Your head or?” he shook his head and you sighed as you brought him into a hug, your mother joining and placing a kiss on his head as the two of you sandwiched the poor boy between you.
“Let’s go home, hm?” she offered, sending you a shaky smile, and you nodded.
Tumblr media
“Hey,” you paused on the top of the stairs and turned to look at Max. “I’m sorry you had to witness that. It was probably scary,” you gave her an apologetic look and her eyes widened as she shook her head and was quick to turn down your worries.
“No, it’s ok. You don’t need to apologize.”
“That’s good. Don’t let that scare you out of being friends with these guys,” you smiled and she nodded. “You are…Billy’s sister, right?” you asked and she fidgeted in her spot for a bit.
“Step-sister, yes.”
“Um, look,” you began as you placed a hand on her shoulder and guided her a few steps away from the boys, throwing a look over your shoulder to make sure they weren’t going to eavesdrop, “I don’t want to butt into your life or anything but…Billy seems like…kind of an asshole brother,” you pointed out and she snorted as if you haven’t told her anything new.
“Yeah, he can be like that. But don’t worry about him, ok? I can handle him,” she scrunched up her forehead and nodded confidently.
“I don’t doubt that. You seem like a pretty badass girl. But I felt compelled to tell you, just in case, that if you ever have an extra bad clash with your brother you can come to me.”
“Really?” she looked at you incredulously, having no idea why a stranger would be as kind as to go out of their way and offer her that.
But you didn’t have to know her to offer her your help and kindness. It was enough that you witnessed Billy’s behavior towards her and you took pity on the girl so you wanted to let her know she could rely on you and have an escape route if she needed to.
“Yes, really. You have a place in my home if you want to get away from his prick ass sometimes,” you smiled encouragingly and she let out a lighthearted snort through her nose, returning the smile.
“Thank you.”
“See you guys later,” you bid the kids goodbye after that and rushed down the stairs.
“Update us on his condition, ok?” called Mike after you and you turned to give him thumbs-up before following your mother to the parking lot.
Tumblr media
“I can’t remember,” muttered Will and you looked at him over your shoulder while busying your hands with taking a mug and warming up some milk so you could make hot cocoa, otherwise they wouldn’t stop shaking.
“I need you to try,” pleaded your mother. You grabbed the cup and neared the table, placing it in front of Will. Comfort drinks or food always managed to make him feel better so you hoped it would be helpful now.
“I…I was on the field and…and then it…all just went blank, and… and then you were there,” he explained but you could tell he was lying and so did your mother.
“Will, I need you to tell me the truth.”
“I am,” he muttered as he grabbed the mug, his fingers drawing patterns on its surface before he took a sip. Joyce sighed before she stood up and disappeared into Will’s room.
“Hey,” you whispered as you took her place next to him and dragged the chair closer. “I know there’s more to it. Mom can feel it too. I’m sure she’s gonna believe you this time. You know that I believe you. We talked about it, didn’t we?” you gave him an understanding smile and he nodded.
Before any of you could say anything more, Joyce came back, holding two pieces of paper that she placed on the table in front of you. One was Will’s drawing and the other was something resembling it.
“This shape,” she said as she pointed at the second drawing. “I saw it on the video tape from Halloween night. It’s the same shape as…as your drawing,” she explained as she compared the two. “These episodes that you’re having, I think Dr. Owens is wrong. I think they’re real. But… I can’t help you if I don’t know what’s going on.”
“Mom is right. We can speculate all we want whether they are real or not and whether you have formed a connection to the Upside Down or not. Personally, I believe that’s the case,” you spoke and Joyce looked at you surprised and worried. “But we need you to talk so we can get a better understanding about this whole situation and try to, I don’t know, find a way to put a stop to this…ok? Don’t be afraid to speak your truth. Talk to us, please,” you squeezed his shoulder encouragingly as he looked at the table then back at you and Joyce, eyes glistening with unshed tears.
“That’s right. No more secrets, ok?” asked Joyce and he nodded slowly. “Did…did you see this again on the field?”
“Yes.”
“What was it?”
“I don’t know…It’s almost…more like a feeling,” he tried putting it into words, voice shaky.
“Like the one you had that night at the arcade?”
“Yes,” he whispered.
“What does it want?” you asked after a moment of silence.
“I don’t know…It came for me and…And I tried. I tried to make it go away,” he hiccupped as the tears finally slid down his cheeks and Joyce looked at you with worry in her eyes which you shared. “But it got me, mom.”
“What does that mean?”
“I felt it…everywhere,” he whimpered. “Everywhere…I…I still feel it. I just want this to be over,” he cried out and you and your mom leaned forwards and took him into your arms, hugging him tightly as he sobbed.
“It’s ok, honey. It’s ok,” whispered Joyce as she caressed his head and you felt hot rage bubble inside of you. You didn’t know what that thing was but it had marked your brother and he became its prey once again. How you wanted to get your hands on it and make it pay for everything he was putting Will through.
“Hey, look at me, sweetheart,” you pulled away to look at him and grasped each side of his face. “I will never, ever, let anything bad happen to you ever again. You hear me? We’re getting through this together and this shithead is going to pay,” you told him firmly and Joyce nodded.
“Whatever is going on in you, we’re gonna fix it. We will fix it! I promise!”
Tumblr media
The rest of the day you spent working at the diner. It was the middle of the week so there weren’t that many people. It was only around the late afternoon hours when students began piling in which helped keep you distracted.
“On the house,” you smiled as you placed a milkshake and a plate of waffles with some chocolate syrup, banana pieces, cream, and rainbow sprinkles in front of Lorelei and she let out a surprised gasp.
“No, Y/N, I can’t not pay-“
“Nonsense. I promise it’s ok,” you waved off her worries and her guilty expression melted into one of gratitude as she took the straw between her fingers and sipped, letting out a content sigh.
“Thank you. That’s really sweet of you.”
“You’re welcome. But what about you, Chrissy? You sure you don’t want to spoil yourself a bit with something sweet?” you asked as you shifted to look at the other girl who had refused to order any food and was currently holding a glass of water.
“No, Y/N, thank you very much for the offer but I’m fine. There are just too many calories in the waffles and the milkshake and I really have to mind my figure,” she said with a smile but you managed to pick on the nervousness of her tone and the way she fidgeted in her seat.
“Oh, ok,” you let out a small uncertain smile, finding her behavior a bit odd but decided to drop it for now.
“Fancy seeing you here, Byers,” sounded a very familiar voice and you grumbled under your breath as you turned to see Billy strolling towards the counter with Tommy and a couple of other boys from the basketball team following behind. “Interesting how we keep running into each other.”
“Well, it’s a small town,” you lifted your brows as you grabbed a menu and placed it in front of him. “But if you ask me, I doubt you just ran into me by coincidence.”
“Is that so?” the corner of his lip twitched as he battled a smirk from forming and you gave him a downward smile.
“I think…that you decided to hang out with your new buddies and you wondered where you should go to grab a bite and then Tommy the dick Hagan told you I worked here so...there you are,” you blurted out and he couldn’t contain a playful grin from spreading on his face as he let out a chuckle.
“Alright…I’m starting to get why you’re one of the smartest. Frankly, I’m impressed,” he gave a nod of approval and you smiled, shaking your head. “But what, are you going to kick me out ‘cause you’re tired of seeing my face?” he asked, tilting his head, and you sighed.
“Actually, no I won’t. You’re paying my salary,” you said offhandedly and he let out a laugh, almost sending you into a state of shock because you didn’t know he was capable of laughing genuinely instead of mockingly, and you shared a look with Chrissy and Lorelei who seemed to be thinking the same thing as you.
“You know what, Byers? I’m starting to really like you,” he drawled and you snorted.
“Please, don’t. I’d like to keep my sanity.”
Tumblr media
“Hey, wait up,” called Billy after you and you turned to face him, waiting impatiently for him to catch up, his confident but leisurely stroll driving you on edge because you wanted to rush back home as fast as possible.
“What is it?”
“I wanted to give it back,” he said as he took your ribbon out of the pocket of his leather jacket and handed it to you, making you arch an eyebrow.
“I thought you were going to keep this as some kind of twisted token or something.”
“Only if you want me to,” he grinned mischievously, retracting his hand, and you quickly grabbed the fabric before he had the chance to put it back in his pocket.
“Thanks…I guess.”
“I was curious about something,” he said as he fell into step with you when you resumed your walking.
“Really? What about?”
“What Hagan said that Halloween night. About your father,” he revealed and you halted in your steps, looking up at him with wide eyes. He detected the slight fear and unease swirling in their depths and let out a sigh, shaking his head. “Nah, forget it.”
“No,” you blurted out. “Uh…it’s ok. Just…it just took me off guard, is all,” you muttered and he looked at you for a while as if trying to decipher you.
“I just wanted to know if what he said was true. About him being an asshole.”
“Yeah…yeah he’s an asshole…so it’s a good thing he’s out of our lives,” you revealed, the grip you had on your bag tightening.
“I see…then what he said that night was a very fucking shitty dick move,” huffed the boy and you gulped, looking at him in surprise.
“It was but…I just don’t understand why you’d care.”
“Maybe I’m just feeling like doing some charity. So I’ll tell Hagan to get off your hair,” he shrugged and you frowned.
“I’m not a charity case. I can take care of myself just fine. Besides, as you kindly pointed out earlier today, I have more than enough knights in shining armor to look after me if I ever need it,” you quipped before turning your back on him and marching to your car, not giving him a chance to respond or follow you as you sped away.
Even through the sideway mirror, you could see his bizarre expression and it made you wonder why he decided to approach you and ask about your father and why he seemed a bit protective about this topic.
Meanwhile, Billy just stared at the rear of your car, his mind focused on the things he learned.
He hadn’t actually meant to talk to you about your father. He didn’t know what prompted him to talk about it and why his curiosity had won.
Today after basketball practice he had asked Tommy about it. It’s not like it was a secret. From what he learned, the whole town knew of Lonnie so it’s not like he was prying into your personal life. He had just wanted Tommy to explain why he said what he said and learn what everyone else seemed to already know. The boy told him about your father being a total jerk, a cheat, a drunkard, and a suspected junkie. He had also told him about you ending up at the hospital with a concussion and a beat-up face one day and that shortly after your parents had divorced. Billy wasn’t stupid. He managed to put two and two together.
And something inside of him had just cracked. He didn’t know what it was but it gnawed at him and made him want to confront you about it and hear it from your mouth.
Maybe it was the fact that he had just found someone who shared the same experience and fought the same battle as he did.
And that made him want to be less of an asshole to you.
Tumblr media
You got home extra late once again and all you could think of was getting a shower, checking on Will, and grabbing a snack.
You first went to see your brother, only to find him asleep in your mother’s arms. You smiled sadly. He must have been very afraid. Then you checked on Jonathan. He was also fast asleep.
You took a hot shower, hoping it would help you relax but it didn’t.
You made yourself warm and comfortable in your bed, hoping the tiring day you had would help you fall asleep but it didn’t.
You kept tossing and turning.
You got out of bed and began pacing, picking up something to read only to discard it because you kept getting distracted. You smoked as you mindlessly watched TV, leg bouncing, mind racing.
Before you knew it, you were reaching for the one thing that never failed at bringing you peaceful bliss – Ketamine.
Tumblr media
“Chief, you think you can spare me a minute?” asked one of the doctors the following day after your surgery, and Hopper, who had come to visit you and see if things have improved, nodded and followed the man. He had been just about to enter your room when he was called.
“What is it, doc?”
“Amongst the other examinations, we needed to do some blood tests and I felt compelled to inform you that we found traces of drugs in her bloodstream,” revealed the man, and Hopper furrowed his brows, his gut clenching nervously as his mind jumped to a few days ago when he had found you stumbling out of the forest and collapsing by his house.
“What kind of drugs?”
“Uh, it’s nothing too serious, it’s just Ketamine. It’s actually quite commonly used because it either gives you a euphoric state of mind or calms you down. It is a sedative drug, after all,” explained the man, and Hopper shut his eyes, hand going to pinch the bridge of his nose. “I wanted to speak to her mother but seeing the horrible state she was in I decided it would be best if you learned first.”
“No, you did well by telling me first. Don’t say a word to Joyce. I’ll handle that,” he said and the doctor nodded before walking away.
.
A week later
“Hop?” you called out as you saw the man getting out of his vehicle and he turned around.
“Hey,” he greeted but you immediately picked on his not-so-happy mood. “Where have you been?”
“I took a walk in the forest. Wanted to enjoy some fresh air,” you smiled as you finally neared him and he looked at the arm resting in a sling before back at you. “But why are you here? Is there something wrong?”
“Not really, uh…I just wanted to talk to you about somethin’,” he said and unsettlement crept upon you all of the sudden.
“What about?”
“I’m gonna be straightforward, kid. The doctor told me about traces of Special K in your blood,” he blurted out and your eyes widened, your heartbeat increasing. “Just tell me the truth, ok? Did you take drugs?” he asked and you gulped, taking a deep breath before nodding.
“I did-“
“Jesus, kid,” he rubbed his face with one hand while the other rested on his hip and you hurries to explain yourself.
“I just panicked! I-I didn’t know what to do. I was stressed. Mom and Jonathan needed support so I had to be calm and stable.”
“And you decided that the best way to do that is by sedating your mind with drugs?” he snapped. “That’s bullshit, kid.”
“I didn’t know what else to do!”
There was a tense silence for a moment before Hopper turned around and walked towards the porch, plopping down on the sofa that you had always wanted to replace with a porch swing, and you hesitantly followed and joined him.
“Listen, kid…I…made the same mistakes,” he began uncertainly. “After my…after my daughter died, I fell in a black hole. Just like you, my mind wouldn’t leave me alone. Stress, insomnia, depression, overthinking, pain, regret, you name it, it swallowed me,” he spoke lowly and you gulped. “So I reached for that shit. Alcohol…drugs,” he huffed. “I thought they were helping…but they fucked things up even more. I realized that a bit late, though. I don’t want you to repeat my mistakes,” he finally looked at you and you filled with regret and guilt. It must have shown on your face because Hopper wrapped an arm around your shoulders.
“C’m here,” he muttered and brought you in for a side hug which you gladly returned. “Promise me…for your sake and for your family’s sake…that you won’t get involved with that crap. Put an end to it before it’s too late because it’s gonna become a weakness that might lead to a very bad downfall,” he said softly, concern lacing his voice, and you nodded against him.
“I promise.”
Tumblr media
Alas, you weren’t exactly able to keep true to that promise.
While you hadn’t spiraled out of control and gotten into using heavy drugs, which was a good thing, you still smoked weed with Eddie and occasionally took the Special K. You didn’t consider yourself addicted because you were able to survive long periods of time without taking the drug, but you also couldn’t consider yourself as immune to it as you used to be before Will’s incident.
The next morning came faster than you thought. You had not slept a wink for the majority of the night until you had decided to take the drugs which had finally done the trick and you had managed to sleep for around three hours.
When you woke up, your mom was already in the kitchen, making breakfast. Jonathan was nowhere to be seen which was weird. Usually, it was him making breakfast.
“Morning,” you greeted groggily as you squinted your eyes at the sunrays, currently still a bit sensitive to the light.
“Morning, sweetie,” greeted Joyce with a smile.
“How’s Will?”
“Still asleep but I reckon he should be waking soon. Hey, can you please finish this? I gotta call the police station,” she asked and you took her place by the stove.
“The police station?”
“I couldn’t get in touch with Hopper yesterday so I’ve been trying to do it today,” she explained and you nodded.
Yeah, you’d like for Hopper to help you out because you had no idea how to deal with all of this.
“Just tell him to call me the second he gets in. Please,” you could hear her talk to Flo and you shook your head, wondering what the reason was as to why your mother couldn’t reach Hopper. Worry began gnawing at you. What if the government had found out about Hopper hiding Eleven? What if they had gotten her and Hopper? You bit your lip as you thought about whether it’d be a good idea to drive to the cabin and check on them.
“Hey, how are you feeling, sleepyhead?” asked Joyce then and you realized that Will must have gotten up. “Any better? Same as last night? Still weird?”
“Yeah,” he sighed as he gave you a strained smile when he strolled into the kitchen and plopped down on a chair. You put the pan away and quickly washed and dried your hands before joining Joyce to stand in front of him.
You put a hand on his forehead and frowned. He wasn’t warm at all. You thought he might have a higher temperature but he seemed cold to the touch.
“Hey, mom,” you spoke lowly. “Can you, uh…get the thermometer?”
She left your side to go fetch the object and the moment she returned you put it in Will’s mouth and the three of you just waited for the results.
“Ok, let me see,” said Joyce after she finished counting the minutes and took the thermometer to check. You peeked over her shoulder and your brows furrowed.
“Is it a fever?”
“No. Uh…it’s actually cold.”
“It’s thirty-five going thirty-four degrees,” you informed him and he blinked in confusion. “Do you feel cold, though?”
“No. Just a little out of it. Like I haven’t really woken up yet,” he answered and your mother gave him a look that he immediately picked up on. “You promised no doctor!”
“And I meant it. No doctor… You know what? I’m gonna run you a nice bath and it’ll warm you up and hopefully get you feeling better. How’s that sound? Okay,” she grinned at him before patting his hand and standing up, heading for the bathroom, and you uncrossed your arms, going to crouch in front of him.
“Hey, buddy. I know we promised no doctor but I had a lot of time to think last night and…” you licked your dry lips as you tried to word it the best way possible. “Maybe it would be for the better to speak to Dr. Owens after all. If we manage to convince him it’s not just flashes but something happening for real, maybe he can help us. Because if that thing is back and trying to hurt you, we’ll definitely need some backup. At the very least when it comes to manpower.”
“He’s not going to believe. And you promised,” he whined tiredly and you let out a sigh.
“Alright…alright…I won’t contact him. Let’s see what happens and if we can deal with this on our own. But if things start going bad, we’re reaching out for help. Does that sound like a plan?” you arched your brows and he hesitated for a moment before nodding. You smiled and ruffled his hair before standing up and going to the kitchen counter in order to transfer the food onto three plates so you could have breakfast.
“C’mon, dig in. You need all the proper nutrients to strengthen your body.”
You were happy to see him eating but at the same time, this gnawing worry couldn’t let you be at peace so you only ended up playing with your food before your mom interrupted you to call Will for his bath and he left the table to go get a towel.
You had put the empty plate in the sink and proceeded to call the kids over the walkie-talkie to inform them that Will was doing well so far but you wouldn’t be going to school because you feared things would get worse so you preferred staying at home and watching over Will just in case.
Meanwhile, your mother tried calling Hopper and then the police station once again, only to close the phone in frustration.
You were about to go grab your keys and go to Hopper’s cabin because the worry was getting unbearable at this point when Will came out of the bathroom, looking disturbed and sweaty as if he had a fever.
“Mom?”
“Yeah, sweetie, what is it?”
“It’s too hot.”
You furrowed your brows at this. You doubted your mother would’ve run a scalding hot bath and you followed the two into the bathroom only to see that Will had drained the tub.
“I…I can cool it down a little bit, baby, but we gotta get your body temp back up-“
“No,” he interrupted her, voice more deep and serious.
“What?”
“He likes it cold.”

“Don’t sweat it, Harrington. Today’s just not your day, man,” said Billy as he gladly let the shower wash off all filth and sweat, hands rubbing his face.
“Yeah, not your week,” added Tommy and Steve rolled his eyes. “You and the princess break up for one day and she’s already running off with that bitch’s brother. But judging by that dumb expression, you don’t know, do you? Jonathan and the princess skipped yesterday. Still haven’t shown. But that just must be a coincidence, right?” he laughed shrilly.
“Don’t talk like that about Y/N,” grumbled Steve after a moment of silence as he focused his gaze downwards, spurting some shampoo on his palm. He couldn’t really say anything about Nancy or try defending her because much to his chagrin, Tommy was right. And that really left him with a bitter feeling. But he could at least defend you.
“Why? You got another punch cooking for me? I still have to pay you back for the last one,” spat out the boy as he turned off the shower and aggressively grabbed a towel before leaving, making Billy chuckle.
“Don’t take it too hard, man,” he said as he grabbed his own towel. “A pretty boy like you has got nothing to worry about. Plenty of bitches in the sea and you already have one in your net, just waiting to be eaten,” he drawled as he leaned in closer and Steve snapped his neck to look at him, making the boy smirk mischievously.
“I don’t know what you’re talking ab-“
“Oh, c’mon, man, not you too,” shook his head Billy as he turned off Steve’s shower. “You know, Y/N said the same yesterday. You don’t know what I’m talking about? You can’t be that oblivious, can you?” he huffed.
Steve looked at him for a while, trying to gulp down his nervousness and not show any signs of the sudden timidness that had crept upon him, before turning on his shower and washing away the foam in his hair.
“Y/N and I are friends.”
“Then I have nothing to worry about, right?” Billy grinned naughtily, turning off the shower again, and Steve furrowed his eyebrows as he looked at the boy once more. “Trust me on one thing…a friendship between a man and a woman? Pretty much impossible. One always ends up falling for the other,” he ran his tongue over his lip as he kept grinning mischievously while wrapping the towel around his hips. “If I were you…I’d hurry up and claim the little fish…otherwise…someone else might steal it,” he leaned closer to Steve and whispered the last words challengingly in his ear before leaving the bathroom with a smug look, making Steve glare at his retreating form and aggressively turn on the shower, fighting the temptation to go land a punch on the boy’s face.

You were nursing a mug of hot chocolate, hoping it would warm you up and calm your nerves a bit, when you heard the comforting, familiar voice of Hopper, making you almost spill your drink as you bolted for the front door.
“Hello?” he called out.
You left the mug on the kitchen counter and pretty much crashed against the man, making him stumble a bit as he tried to catch and steady you.
“Hey, what’s wrong, kiddo? You good?” he asked as he tried to take a look at you but your head was buried in his chest, his heartbeat soothing you.
“We couldn’t reach you since yesterday afternoon. I thought…I thought something bad happened to you and El,” you whispered brokenly and he sighed in understanding as he rubbed your back and placed a hand on your head.
“It’s all good, kid. There’s nothing to worry about. I promise.”
You pulled away and moved so he could enter, grabbing your mug of chocolate.
“No, leave it open,” you told him when you saw he was about to close the door and he looked at you in confusion as you took a sip.
“Hopper?” Joyce came into the living area, cigarette in her mouth, and he nodded in greeting. “Where the hell have you been!?”
“I overslept…What the hell’s going on? It’s freezing,” he asked and she just waved him over, motioning for him to follow her and the three of you headed towards Will’s room.
“Hey! Knock, knock,” she rammed her knuckles against the wooden surface before pushing it open, revealing a shirtless Will sitting on the bed in front of a wide-open window. “We have a visitor.”
.
“So this thing, this shadow thing… You told your mother and sister it likes it like this? It likes it cold?” asked Hopper as he held the drawing and Will nodded.
“Yeah.”
“How do you know that?”
“I just…know.”
“Does he talk to you?”
“No. It’s like…I don’t have to think. I just know things now. Things I never did before,” he muttered and you bit your lip. It’s like he was connected to this thing and received information from it without even wanting or thinking about it.
“And, uh…what else do you know?” inquired the man as he moved to sit in front of your brother and looked him in the eyes.
“It’s hard to explain…It’s like old memories in the back of my head, only…they’re not my memories… I mean…I don’t think they’re old memories at all. They’re…now-memories, happening all at once, now.”
“Can you describe these now memories?”
“I don’t know…It’s…It’s hard to explain.”
“I know it’s hard but can you just…Can you try describing it?” pressed Joyce gently. “For us?”
“It’s like…They’re growing and spreading…Killing,” he whimpered, tearing up.
“The memories?”
“I don’t know…I’m sorry,” he let out a sob and Joyce hugged him tightly.
“No, no, no. It’s okay, sweetie.”
“Hold on, I think I got it,” you uncrossed one arm while the other placed the now empty mug on Will’s desk. “Whatever that thing is, it got into Will, right? It’s inside him. Like he said, everywhere. So they have formed some kind of like…connection. What if this connection allows Will to see what this thing is experiencing and seeing? That’s why he gets all those weird memories but in fact, they aren’t really memories but just glimpses from the point of view of that-that thing,” you shrugged your shoulder as you waved a hand and the three looked at you with wide eyes.
“I think…I think that’s the best way to put it,” sniffed Will.
“That’s good, that’s…very good. We have some progress. But where is this thing...? How is it seeing? What is it doing? Growing, spreading…where?” asked Hopper and Will shook his head.
“Baby, look at me,” you sat next to Will and grasped his face. “You’re good at drawing…You don’t have to explain it with words… Do it with art.”
Tumblr media
“This is…more of the same,” sighed Joyce as she sat on the couch next to Hopper, holding a couple of drawings in her hands, and you went to stand behind her, looking down to see what she was holding while you popped a spoonful of chocolate pudding in your mouth.
“No…there has to be something else to all that,” you commented and the two adults looked at you in confusion. You licked the spoon and put it in the cup before moving around the couch, leaving the cup on the coffee table and sitting on the armrest, grabbing a hold of drawings. “None of these are identical to each other. They are all… different. Sure, it’s the same concept but its structure is different. It’s like a puzzle,” you tried to explain how you saw things as you tried finding fitting images. You smiled when you noticed the lines of two drawings intertwining perfectly.
“There!”
Hopper and Joyce looked at you and then at the two pieces you had put together, finally noticing the way they fit, and smiled.
“Holy shit…you’re right,” drawled the man, and Joyce squeezed your arm as she gave you a proud look and not long after, the three of you were grabbing drawing after drawing, piecing them together all over the house while Will kept producing more and more.
You reached a point when your whole house was littered with taped paper that began resembling something.
“I mean…is it some sort of maze or a road?” asked Joyce as the three of you walked around, inspecting the puzzle you had just finished putting together. “I mean, it’s sort of forking and branching like…like lightning.”
“You think it’s that storm?”
“No, the storm he drew was completely different. He used red. And this is all blue and it has some weird dirt color,” brainstormed Joyce, and Hopper’s face fell in deep thought before realization hit him. “I mean…maybe its roots. ‘Cause remember, he was saying it was spreading and-”
“Killing,” he interrupted her and the two of you looked up to meet his eyes that were filled with urgency. “He said they were killing…Vines…” he finally revealed, rushing to take his hat and coat, “He’s drawing vines.”
“Hey, where are you going?” you ran after him, grabbing your jacket.
“I think I might have an idea where I can find this thing,” he drawled.
“Well, then I’m coming with you,” you informed him offhandedly and he sharply turned to look at you.
“No! You’re staying here.”
“Really? You want to have that argument again?” you glared and he returned it.
“We don’t know what’s actually out there, ok? This is not like last year’s undercover mission! We confronted a man. A man! This thing-“
“Yeah, exactly! We don’t know what this thing is and you want to go out there all alone!? No way,” you grit out. “I’m coming whether you like it or not.”
“What if you get in my way, huh? How am I supposed to investigate and protect you all at once?” his voice raised and you shut your mouth, fists clenching at your side. Hopper cringed inwardly. He didn’t mean it like that. He didn’t mean to say that you were a hindrance. He was just afraid that he wouldn’t be able to protect you if something came up.
“But what if I end up helping you? You never know what’s gonna happen and we can’t keep throwing what-ifs at each other!” you countered and now it was his turn to shut his mouth and look away in frustration before back at you, breathing angrily through his nose.
“Alright, fine…Fine!” he threw his hands in the air and began walking towards his car. You let out a triumphant huff and a smirk before following after him and climbing on the passenger seat.

Family Video was unusually slow on this particular day. No one but the usual few customers have come in and out of the store, browsing the isles filled with basically any movie they could think of. You and Steve were on the schedule for the day. Usually, Robin would have been here but she wasn’t feeling that great so you decided to cover her shift.
Although you just started at Family Video a few weeks ago, you and Steve have gotten to spend a lot of time together. You even considered him one of, if not your best friend, which would not have been the case a few years ago. Luckily for you, he had graduated from his douchebag days and now he was an alright guy.
You’d known Steve since you were about 8 or 9 years old. Back then, you were best friends and never figured you’d be anything less. But around middle school, Steve climbed the social ladder and became popular, leaving you in the dust with all of the other “losers”, as he called them. Then around freshman year, you were unfortunately the subject of Steve, Tommy, and Carol’s bullying. Tommy and Carol, of course, did most of the work, but Steve did his fair share. The Steve you once knew was no more, instead he was someone you didn’t even recognize.
You knew his home situation, how his dad was an asshole through and through. Steve always promised himself that he’d never become like him, but assholery apparently ran in the family.
While he could be a total jerk, Steve really was just angry and the only way he knew how to take it out was on others. Eventually, he was broken up with by Nancy Wheeler and realized he couldn’t be the same person anymore. So, he dumped Tommy and Carol and found a few new good friends, ones that helped him work through his anger and realize he didn’t have to be like his dad anymore.
Soon after that, during junior year, Steve showed up on your front porch with flowers. The gift came with a hefty apology, saying how much he hated himself for being so cruel to you and how you didn’t deserve any of it.
“Steve, what are you doing here?”
“I need to apologize to you, Y/N. I was an asshole to you for the past few years and you don’t have to forgive me, but I need you to know that I regret it more than anything. You were my best friend and I ruined that and I’m so so sorry. You didn’t deserve any of it.”
“Come inside, let’s talk.”
Eventually you forgave him, understanding what peer pressure and a dominating father can do to a person. He had grown and done a lot of thinking, but you still checked him any time he accidentally slipped up and said anything mean. You too had grown and learned to stand up for yourself and other people.
The two of you hung out all the time. Well, when he wasn’t with Robin. Steve made friends with Robin Buckley, who was a “loser” like you, according to the old Steve. But once she and Steve began working together, they were inseparable.
You didn’t really know Robin all that well. You knew she was smart and funny, and pretty, but that’s all you really knew about the girl. Steve tried to get her to hang out with you guys all the time, but Robin would always make up some lame excuse, like having to give her cat a bath. You weren’t even sure she had a cat, but if she did, that was one poor animal, considering how many times Robin had to bathe it.
Truthfully, you figured she didn’t really like you. The few times you did hang out with her were mostly during work, and even then, she’d barely talk to you. She was always a stuttering mess, messing up her words and blushing like crazy before eventually giving up and shutting her mouth for the rest of the shift.
And it didn’t matter how many times you asked her questions or tried to get to know her, it was always the same short answers or words that weren’t actual words. Steve would always say, “Oh, don’t mind Robin. She’s just nervous around pretty girls” to which you would roll your eyes and brush it off.
But again, he did know her better than you, not that you didn’t want to be friends with her. She just didn’t give you the chance.
“Y/N, pass me that tape,” Steve said, reaching his hand to the copy of The Breakfast Club sitting on the counter beside you. You grabbed the tape and lightly tossed it to him, causing him to fumble and drop the movie.
A cackle came out of your mouth before you called him an idiot. “Thank you for that.”
“Oh it was my pleasure, really,” you replied, leaning your back against the counter. Slow days were your favorites because you got to chat with coworkers and watch movies all day long. But this one just seemed to drag by.
Steve came around the counter and took a seat on top of it, his leg hitting your arm. “I forgot to mention, Eddie and I are going to a movie tomorrow, you should come.”
Looking up at him, you rolled your eyes and looked back at the TV screen. “What, so I can be your third wheel? No, thank you.”
“It’s not a third wheel if we’re not dating, Y/N. How many times do I have to tell you?”
Steve was obviously in denial about his feelings for Eddie Munson. I guess it makes sense though, no one in town would approve of two guys getting together, especially not Steve Harrington and Eddie Munson. From the outside, those two were nothing alike. But little did anyone know, they had a lot more in common than what meets the eye.
“And how many times do I have to tell you that he’s into you? I mean, if the heart eyes weren’t an obvious giveaway, he also calls you baby girl,” you teased, making Steve look away with a blush and sputter out a quiet “whatever”.
A few teens came running into the stop, making a B-line to the copies of Sixteen Candles, before running to the counter to get them checked out.
“I think you should go for it, Steve. I mean, what do you have to lose?”
A shush came from the boy, warning you to lower your voice so the customers wouldn’t catch on.
The minute they left, you turned back around to face Steve who had his head down. “You of all people know what I have to lose. I mean, it’s not like I haven’t thought about it, but c’mon. Let’s be real,” he explained while sorting stacks of movies.
Of course you knew what he meant. Hawkins wouldn’t be Hawkins without the homophobic people that resided in it. It was definitely unfortunate that people couldn’t see past their hatred, but you were used to it. You knew that sometimes it just wasn’t worth it to try and prove to other people who were ignorant that you deserved rights just like them.
You nodded slowly, sad for your friend. “I get it, Steve. It’s scary to put yourself out there, but believe me when I say this, it’s so worth it. But I’ll leave it alone if you really want me to.”
“It’s okay, I know you’re just looking out for me. I’ll figure it out some day, but for now, are you coming with us or not? You could bring someone if you want!”
A puzzling look appeared on your face. “And who exactly would I bring? I don’t really have a long list of girls throwing themselves at me”
Steve looked your way and flashed you a knowing smiled. “Bring Robin.”
You scrunched your face in confusion. “Why would I do that? She doesn’t even like me,” you said, questioning your friend’s idea.
Steve let out a laugh before crossing his arms across his chest. “She tell you that?”
“Not directly, but she never talks to me and when she does, it’s always the shortest responses. And she never wants to hang out with me. Believe me, she doesn’t like me. I just..don’t know what I did.”
An even louder laugh came from Steve as he walked over to the horror movie aisle to finish putting away scattered movies. “Okay, well not that you heard this from me, but she definitely doesn’t hate you. Like I told you, she gets nervous around pretty girls.”
Still confused, you rounded the counter and joined him, not to help with the movies, but to question him further. “I don’t understand what that has to do with anything.”
“Are you really that dense, Y/N? She likes you,” Steve said, clearly annoyed that you didn’t connect the dots.
You shook your head, still not believing it. “I - what? No, there’s no way, she doesn’t even speak to me.”
Without turning his head, Steve side-eyed you, looking at the confused expression that he caused. The crease on your forehead was giving him a good laugh, he really thought you knew.
“Well, she speaks of you, a lot. Like 80% of the time, you’re the topic of conversation, it’s getting kind of old honestly, so if you could do me a favor and just ask her out already, that would be great,” Steven finished the conversation before heading behind and through the door to the back room, leaving you standing there like an idiot.
//
It’s not like you haven’t thought about it before. I mean, Robin is super pretty and like the only out lesbian in your town that you knew of, so the thought has crossed your mind once or twice. But knowing now that she liked you opened up a whole new door of possibilities. Ones you didn’t even know could become a reality for you.
After work, Steve dropped you off at your house since you weren’t planning on needing the car you shared with your brother.
The car pulled up your driveway and came to a stop. “Thanks for the ride.”
Steve nodded a silent “you’re welcome” to you before you opened the door to get out. Once you were out of the car and shut the door, you heard the window roll down and Steve’s voice to get your attention.
“Hey, I was serious about asking Robin out. She really likes you, and I want you to be happy too. Listen to your own advice, what do you have to lose?” He was right, but before you could say anything, he rolled up his window. With that, he backed out of the driveway, but waited at the bottom until you got inside your house.
You replayed his words through your head as you made your way inside and to your room, stopping by the kitchen to say hello to your mom and dad, who were cleaning up from dinner. Your dad let you know there was a plate for you in the microwave, to which you thanked them and said you’d eat in a little bit.
As you entered your bedroom, you flipped the light switch on, illuminating your dark bedroom. Setting your things down on the floor, you sat down on your bed and reached for your landline phone that was on the nightstand.
The perks of having a job is that your parents let you have a landline in your bedroom, as they knew how much you worked and wanted to reward you.
Your shaking hands grabbed your notebook and flipped to the page filled with all of your friend’s phone numbers, your finger sliding down the page until you found Robin’s.
A deep sigh in and out came from you as you contemplated not giving the girl a call.
“She really likes you, and I want you to be happy too.”
Steve really was right, what did you have to lose?
You dialed her number and waited as the phone rang on the line. Every ring was agonizing, you getting more nervous the longer you had to wait.
Finally, the line clicked as someone picked up the phone. “Buckley household, what can I do for you?”
A smile came to your face as you heard the raspy voice of the girl you were trying to reach.
“Robin! Hi, it’s Y/N!”
“Y/N? Hey, what’s up? I mean, how are you?”
You chuckled, clutching the cord of the phone and sitting back against your pillows. “I’m good, I just wanted to ask you something, if that’s okay?”
“Um, yeah, sure,” Robin said, you could tell by her voice that she was nervous.
“So, Steve, Eddie, and I are going to the movies on Friday. Would you want to come with me so I don’t have to be their awkward third wheel?”
The silence on the other end of the line made you sweat, worrying that you said something wrong. “Robin, are you there?”
“Yes! Yes, sorry, I’m still here, I just had to make sure I heard you right.”
Nodding to yourself, you sat up and hugged your knees, resting your chin on top of them. Your thumb came to your mouth as you chewed on the finger nail nervously.
“So, what do you say?”
“Absolutely, I - I’d love to! But, is this like a date?”
“I’d like it to be, yeah.” You could hear her smiling on the other end, if that is even possible. You yourself were cautiously grinning, hoping she’d want it to be a date too.
“Really? I mean, yes, I’d love to go with you!” Your cheeks rose as your smile got wider, amused by her enthusiasm.
“Cool, then it’s a date. I’ll pick you up at 6,” you said confidently, standing up from your bed.
“Rad,” was all she said before hanging up. You smiled to yourself as you put the phone back on the nightstand.
Hearing how cute she sounded on the phone and how excited she seemed made you feel giddy, like a little kid who just asked their crush out for the first time.
An excited feeling bubbled in your stomach as you looked at yourself in your mirror, surprised at the deep blush that had crept up on your cheeks. I made you feel silly, but also really happy.
God, wait until Steve hears about this.

Hoooooo boy went a little overboard with this one but I really really really love it so much- maybe not exactly what you asked for but I hope you like it!

This Week at Family Video
Robin Buckley & Steve Harrington friendship (and character study) Robin Buckley x a girl who I guess is technically an oc
summary: A cute girl keeps coming into Family Video and Steve is determined to wingman his best friend Robin into a date with her, which turns into a deeper bonding moment when Steve realizes he's grown a lot but there's still room to go and Robin realizes that she's not as alone as she feels.
Content/warnings: Robin talks about how it feels to be closeted in the 80s so there are allusions to period typical homophobia and a quote from Steve from season one which is uncool. It's just like....an analysis of the friendship between the lesbian and the straight himbo and how there's a lot more to it than bonding over hot girls.
(Also I mention a couple movies in here and I have seen none of them so don't @ me)

Monday
It was an average day at the Family Video. People filtered in and out, a few of whom garnered some appraising, and, admittedly kind of objectifying glances from the two clerks that sat behind the central desk, who’s eyes would flash up as the bell ring, look at each other and make a subtle face to indicate whether or not the thought the girl that just came in was cute.
Robin admits openly to feeling bad about this ritual, and Steve agreed that it was pretty sexist and they shouldn’t be collectively checking out chicks that came in and consulting on their hotness but at this point it was almost involuntary and hard to avoid when Steve all but lept over counters when a pretty girl walked in. Robin told him that she only did it now so she knew if she’d have to be working the sales desk for the next 2-8 minutes until he’d get rejected and come back to help but he didn’t buy it for a second.
The bell over the door rang and they glanced up to see a cute girl with intentionally messy hair, some oversized layers, and a bucket hat walk in casually. Steve and Robin both looked at each other with raised eyebrows just before Steve walked around the counter.
“Welcome to Family Video- anything I can help you find today?” Steve said, turning on his charm, regardless of how overzealous he was with it at times. “I’m Steve, and you are?” He said, sticking out a hand. The girl looked a little overwhelmed at the attention and laughed awkwardly.
“Uh, yeah I’m Leslie.  I’m just looking for a movie that nobody else seems to have.” She said with a laugh and a furtive glance at Robin, who prepared herself to step in quickly.
“Well, obviously we have a wide, wide selection of movies, what kind of things are you into? Tell me about yourself.” He said, leaning seductively against a shelf and knocking a few of the empty cases to the ground and picking them up while attempting to look like he hadn’t missed a beat. Robin couldn’t help but widen her eyes in mild horror at how poorly he was doing. Then her eye caught the girl’s, who met it with the same look that said holy shit, are you seeing this? Robin nodded and silently laughed as she watched the girl turn back to Steve’s attempted flirtation with an overly exaggerated interest and nodding that Robin delighted in seeing was entirely sarcastic.
“I’m actually looking for something pretty specific that I’ve been having a hard time finding.” She interrupted after the humor of the situation had worn off.
“Of course, yeah- what do you need?”
“A film called Hour of the Wolf?” she said nervously, and Robin’s ear perked up.
“OH, yeah I love that one- Michael J Fox as a basketball playing werewolf- who thinks of this stuff? I used to play basketball, you know. Didn’t need the wolf powers, though-”
“That's Teen Wolf, Steve.” Robin corrected from the counter, earning a grateful glance from the girl, who walked over to her quickly, and Steve threw his hands up and sighed.
“We don’t actually have Hour of the Wolf which is a shame because it really is a masterpiece.” Robin chimed in, pulling a thoughtful face
“I’ve been trying to get stupid Keith to get it but he says there isn’t enough demand. Shows what he knows.” Robin said, making Leslie smile and her own heart flutter at the sight.
“Whoever Keith is sounds like he’s got quite the expert on his hands…” She said cheerfully.
“If you're into arthouse horror stuff though you should check out Eraserhead.” Robin suggested, and Leslie shrugged.
“Arthouse? Is that like a place, or..?” Steve asked, trying to stay in the conversation, but was largely ignored.
“Sure. If you recommend it I’m sure it’s a winner...” She said, a little cheeky, glancing down at her nametag so obviously that for a second Robin thought this girl was checking out her rack in the middle of the store.”Robin.” She finished, saying her name clearly.
Robin thought that maybe for a second there she died and was resurrected, but it turned out to just be butterflies. She stuttered for a moment, telling her about the cinematography as she got her the movie and finished lending it. As she walked out Robin sighed, glancing at Steve.
“Once again, you blew it, Steve.. I really wish I still had the you suck board.” She said with a wry smile.
“Yeah…I know you do, Robin. I know you do.”
Tuesday
The next day at Family Video, Steve was peppering her with questions to Robin’s ire.
“Okay, explain one more time what an arthouse movie is?” He asked, and she rolled her eyes.
“Why do you want to know? You already blew your shot.” She criticized while put away the tapes.
“Alright, you don’t know that. And she’s not the only arty chick in the world. Maybe that’s why I haven’t had any luck lately.” He guessed lamely and Robin gave him a dead stare.
“You are telling me that the reason you can’t get a second date is because you haven’t met a girl that is artistic enough? You, Steve Harrington, want a girlfriend who’s primary interests are in arthouse cinema? Is that really what you’re saying to me?” Robin asked incredulously, stopping herself from laughing at the idea of Steve on a date with a moody poet who wanted his opinions on verse. Maybe she should help him if she’d get to hear about that.
“Just give me another movie like that to recommend her if she comes back in.”
“I don’t know- Dr. Strangelove.” Robin pulled out of thin air. He was definitely about to ask more questions but at that moment the bell rang and there was the girl from yesterday.
She gave Robin a big smile and waved the tape in her hand as she walked over.
“Holy shit, Robin. Holy shit.” She said, putting both hands on the counter. She remembered my name, Robin thought giddily.
“Is that a good holy shit or a bad holy shit?”
“It’s a holy shit holy shit.” Leslie said, still a little bit stunned. “I mean, the last scene? With the bandages? I mean what the fuck? I mean it’s a…bold recommendation to make to a stranger that’s for sure but it was a good one.” She said, giddy, and all of a sudden Robin’s worst fears came true: she opened her mouth and couldn’t shut it.
Fun facts about the movie, her favorite things about cinematography, favorite movies in order, all of it came pouring out involuntarily. Steve sensed her panic and stepped in front of her.
“I think what Robin meant to say was that you should check out uh, Doctor, uh,” he glanced at Robin quickly, who tried to mouth the words subtly even though Leslie was standing a foot away. Steve read her lips and confidently looked to the customer and said: “Doctor Trained Dove. It's great. Arthouse.”
Leslie tilted her head and pulled her lips between her teeth like she was trying as hard as she could not to laugh, Robin put her face in her hands and Steve grimaced, reading the room correctly and guessing he hadn’t gotten the title right.
“I haven’t heard about that one. What’s…it about?”
Steve opened his mouth and looked at Robin helplessly.
“It’s a musical about a surgeon that becomes a magician. It’s a lesser known sequel to Doctor Strangelove.” Robin said dryly, glaring at Steve when she said the real title and Leslie laughed and bit her lip.
“Didn’t know Kubrick did sequels.” She said teasingly.
“No, this one is John Hughes, actually.” Robin said, sarcasm not coming through as much as a hopeful punchline that she was obviously shocked to see land.
“Well, Unofficial Kubrick sequels aside, do you have another recommendation for me?” Leslie asked, now leaning on the counter.
“Are you sure you don’t want to hear about 2002?” Robin said, her voice now fully transitioned to that of a person daydreaming and unaware they were talking aloud.
“I preferred 2003, actually.” Leslie played along, and Robin knew she was laughing too hard as it was happening.
“Or 2004, right?” Steve cut in , and they both looked at him awkwardly as he ran a hand through his hair. “Seems like it’s a long time from now but it’s not that far, huh? Weird. End of the century."
Two two women just stared at him blankly and just like that the magic was broken. Robin was no longer in the nonexistent John Hughes movie where she was the one that got to kiss Molly Ringwald over a birthday cake and the three of them were just standing in a video store again.
“Have you seen Holy Mountain?” Robin suggested, and Leslie left with it in hand.
Robin and Steve sort of just stood there in shock at just how badly that interaction had just gone.
“Maybe you’re my bad luck charm. I feel like the last time I was cool was before I met you.” He said contemplatively.
“I’m not going to dignify that with a response besides the fact that I didn’t put you in that sailor outfit. If you want to get her attention tomorrow you’re gonna have to study up, man.” Robin said with a laugh, and Steve frowned at her and cocked his head.
“Me?” He asked, and Robin looked at him with confusion.
“Yeah? I thought you liked her.”
“I mean she’s cute but I was kinda getting a…. Hm?” He said with a vocalization and a hand gesture that Robin didn’t understand.
“C’mon man, you know I have a hard enough time reading people as it is.” She complained.
“What vibe?” She asked incredulously.
“A vibe, Robin, there was a vibe.”
Steve looked around to make sure nobody was around so he could remind Robin that she was a lesbian and he was pretty sure that girl was flirting with her.
“She was totally flirting with you.” He said quietly, and Robin looked at him far more aghast than she had any reason to be.
“What? No! No, of course she wasn’t flir- what would even make you think? I mean that’s just-” Robin stammered and Steve’s eyebrows got higher and higher.
“Alright, alright, alright, don’t start spiraling. You seemed into her, though, right? I’m not about to violate bro code and ask out the girl you like just because you’re a chick.” He said in what she assumed was a tone that bros used to talk to each other with a shrug and Robin just set her jaw in disbelief and well meaning annoyance.
Not for the first time since she met him she imagined getting into a time machine and traveling to Ms. Clicks class and leaning over to whisper to herself See those two right there? See sweet, beautiful Tammy Thompson staring at that dick Steve Harrington? In a couple of years one of those people will be the single person on the planet earth that you have ever told that you’re gay and the best friend you’ve ever had in your life.  I’ll give you one guess to who it is, and if you guess right I’ll give you a billion US dollars. Also you’ll be tortured by evil Russians together.
“Whatever- look, whether or not I think she’s cute she’s not a- y’know-” she said, grimacing instead of saying lesbian in such a casul setting without a self pep talk to convince herself it wouldn’t be weird.
“Returning Fast Times at 53 minutes and 12 seconds?” He offered, and her shoulders relaxed and she loosely pointed at him.
“Right. Sure. She’s not pausing fast times and she’s cool- why shouldn’t you go for it?” She said, now surprisingly adamant in a way that Steve didn’t understand in the slightest as Robin was almost always apathetic towards his love life.
“Because I blew my shot? It’s fine, it happens. A lot, according to the You Suck board.” He justified it, but Robin had a determined look on her face.
“I could coach you! Yeah, she’s gonna watch Holy Mountain tonight, why don’t we watch it too and you can talk to her about it.” She suggested, and Steve emphasized the confusion on his face.
“Robin, it's fine if you like her. You know I don’t have any problem with-” he started, and she cut him off on the spiel.
He did that sometimes when she was upset and he couldn’t figure out why- always jumpeing to defend himself and assumed he had said something wrong by mistake. It happened on occasion, Steve, as much as she knew his heart was in the right place, was still a white, straight male former highschool bully from Hawkins Indiana with parents that voted for Reagan, he was always honest that he was still unlearning a lot of shit and it was inevitable that something would slip out every once in a while. The first time it had happened, about a month after they started working at the video store she heard him talking to an old team mate and casually dropped the word fairy as a descriptor. She told herself he didn’t mean it but she had still let it fester until he was following her around while she restocked movies asking what’s wrong what’s wrong what’s wrong over and over again like a petulant child. She confessed loudly and angrily before looking around in fear that there was a customer. He swore at himself and apologized profusely and in that moment she was really reminded of that night in the Starcourt bathroom and how, despite how annoying he was, Steve Harrington had a heart even bigger than his hair.
It had been a nice moment, the next time he said something a little off-color he caught it himself, but still apologized a lot. It only got annoying when he started doing it every time he (unfortunately, usually correctly) identified that she was in a bad mood because of a problem that stemmed from her sexuality and assumed that problem was that he said something offensive by accident. The truth was that there were just always going to be some things that she would go through that he would never be able to understand and would be hard for her to explain. Half the time she hadn’t even taken the time to figure out what exactly it was that was bothering her besides the baseline level of worry that came with the small town closeted lesbian territory.
“I know you’re not homophobic, Steve.” She said and he stopped, nodding in relief, but then doubling down on his confusion.
“So then why are you getting all weird about this?” he asked genuinely, and Robin shook her head exaggeratedly, like if she did it super obviously he would believe it more.
“Fine, I’ll watch the movie.” He conceded, as they started to gather their stuff for the end of the day. Robin shook a triumphant fist with a silent yes as she grabbed her bag and  headed out the door to his car.
“I’m not being weird at all. I just think you have a shot and she seems cool. Also I haven’t seen Holy Mountain in a while and it rules.” She said all too casually, and Steve stared at her suspiciously. Robin wasn’t budging, mostly because she didn’t really know why she suddenly had the urge to push them together either besides the odd sensation of trying to make something go away on its own.
“Is this gonna be a movie that I have to think about a lot while we’re watching?” He asked apprehensively, and did not care for the mischievous and possibly sadistic smile she gave him
Wednesday
Robin and Steve sat on stools behind the checkout counter, Steve looked shell shocked, to say the very least. More so than he looked after last year's Russian Invasion. Robin was alternating between laughing at him and trying her best to be comforting and apologetic.
“Steve, I told you you could close your eyes if it got too scary.” She said in a voice she hoped sounded genuine and that he couldn’t hear it shaking a little. He didn’t say anything, just leaned back against the counter staring downwards, unresponsive. “Okay, you’ve been doing this for like a day and a half the movie wasn’t that weird.” she said, and he turned to glare at her.
“You know that’s not true, Robin. You know that.” He said emphatically, and they glanced towards the door as it rang.
It was Leslie, walking in with a grin on her face and the movie in hand and Steve was pretty sure that this girl might actually be a serial killer. Robin liked it, too, though, so maybe they were on a crime spree together and they were definitely going to take him outside and skin him alive and hang it up and- ugh, Steve stopped and put his palms over his eyes to get the image out of his head.
“Is…he okay?” Leslie asked, leaning past Robin to look at the unresponsive Steve.
“He’s fine- we actually watched Holy Mountain too last night and he's contemplating it.” Robin said, glancing at Steve and pumping the eyebrows of a wingwoman, and scowled when he didn’t see her because his head was now resting against the counter.
From his vulnerable state, Steve braced himself to hear them babble on about the perfect ratio of that shot of that lady banging that mechanical horse without legs but instead only heard Leslie respond with a disingenuously excited “Oh!”
Robin was expecting the same as Steve, and she couldn’t quite decipher the way that Leslie’s eyes flitted between the two of them.
“I’m guessing Steve wasn’t a fan?” She asked, and Robin laughed at him to which he responded with a dry ha ha ha said from under his arms laying on the counter.
“Well, that’s commitment for you. Takes quite a guy to sit through a movie like that just because he wants to hang out with you.” She said with a tight smile.  The way she said it made Robin wish she was better at social cues because she knew for damn sure she was missing something.
“Yeah, he’s alright.” Robin said affectionately.
Steve was torn between warm fuzzies at the closest thing his best friend can ever come to a compliment and smacking her on the back of the head for not realizing that this girl now thinks that they’re dating. It never ceased to fascinate him that the person that can decipher Russian without knowing Russian couldn’t hear that telltale sound of jealousy and disappointment in the goodbye of a person who just discovered that their crush was dating sebody already. Then again, he could do that but couldn’t decipher the Russian, so maybe it was just a different skill set.
“Wow, I’m sorry dude I really thought that she’d want to talk to you about the movie.”
Leslie let out a fake laugh and put the tape and some cash on the counter before walking away with an awkward wave and disappeared with the bell.
Steve pulled himself up off the counter, his forehead red from pressing against the surface and his hair messed up, and his look was one of utter frustration and disbelief.
“Holy shit, Robin of course she didn’t. She wanted to talk to you about the movie. She left because she thinks we’re dating and it bummed her out.” He said, almost in a yell at the fact that he knew she wasn’t going to listen to him.
“Ooooh, that makes more sense. See, I was right, her being jealous is proof that she likes you.” Robin declared and Steve dropped his head back onto the counter with a smack that hurt enough to drive that weird ass flick out of his brain. “I’m sorry you watched Holy Mountain for nothing though. She’s right, it is a rough one if you don’t enjoy it.” She said casually, almost certainly smiling maliciously. He began to smack his head against the counter and he was pretty sure he heard her laughing.
Thursday
Family Video opened at 11 AM, so almost every morning after he dropped Robin off he’d go and try to figure out more ways to not talk to Keith for an entire shift. Today he had decided to take the stack of returns into the back room and rewind the ones returned by the “unkind” that he secretly wanted to kiss on the mouth for giving him a really easy and time consuming thing to do every morning until his break, where he’d go get Robin, listen to her rant about school, get some drive thru for the both of them, and then finish off the day with his best friend.
All in all, it was an alright gig.
Except for Thursdays. Steve hated Thursdays.
Because on Thursdays Robin’s band practice goes late and she doesn’t work a shift, and Keith takes off for long periods at random intervals and would leave him alone to mind the store on a pretty busy day of the week.
Today was slow, both in passage of time and number of customers, so they canceled each other out and made the day suck exactly as much as last Thursday.
He continued to rewind movies, noting a few titles for later that seemed interesting. He took out the next tape and pushed it in. The movie turned on and Steve nearly fell off his chair when his screen was very suddenly two very naked women. He didn’t rewind yet as the two of them kissed and Steve glanced down at the tape. Desert Hearts. He quickly checked to see who returned it and it was, unsurprisingly, a long list of male names, a few of whom he recognized from various sports teams and parties throughout high school, and strangely Karen Wheeler of all people, but he wasn’t going to unpack that.
As Steve scanned the back of the VHS box he read about the plot of the lesbian love affair that blossoms between the two women out west and a plan formed in his mind, and that plan would help him honor his Duty as a Man with a Heart a Soul and The Critical Social Skills Robin Buckley Lacks: He was going to get his best friend laid. Because that's what friends do.
-
Later that day Steve had an okay plan that could potentially pan out and now was just waiting for the opportunity, he just had to wait for Leslie to come in like she had every day this week. He leaned against the counter and idly watched the screens and glanced out the display glass as people passed by.
That was when he glanced up to see somebody slowing down and peeking inside. It was Leslie. Whatever she saw, she looked away and kept walking. Steve tilted his head in confusion, but pushed the VHS tape into the player and waited. There wasn’t much business today and as the movie played he did find himself a bit enraptured in the drama between the two women.
The only time when his attention was torn from the weighty glances between Vivian and Kay was when he saw somebody pause outside the window. It was Leslie again, peeking in. When Steve met her eye and waved a little she looked like she had been caught red handed and awkwardly walked in and waved.
“Uh, hey Sam.” She said a little stiffly.
“It’s- it’s Steve.” He corrected, and she quietly apologized and wandered into the stacks.
Now that Leslie was actually in the store, Steve realized that his so-called ‘plan’ was actually just the idea to put the movie about lesbians on the tv and wait to see if she reacted. He wished that wingmanning for Robin didn’t have to be so subtle.
She put the box on the counter and Steve began to slowly start checking out the movie to give her time for her to either look at the tv and say…something. This was a stupid plan, he realized, and he made a quick move to salvage it.
Using his stealth skills gained from years of monster hunting and high-stakes babysitting, he tried to secretly watch Leslie around the store and noticed that she seemed to not be looking at the movies, but at the staff break room and around the store for other clues about the whereabouts of a certain missing front desk associate. When her eyes caught the TV screen and saw the actresses that Steve hoped looked familiar her head snapped back in front of her and she stood very still, examining a box without really seeing it for what she deemed long enough to take it to the counter to make a quick escape.
“Do you like this movie?” He asked, pointing at the screen and unable to stop himself from visibly cringing.
She looked up at him incredibly awkwardly. “I’m…not sure what movie that is, honestly.” She said, and he was like 50% sure she was lying.
“Robin likes this movie.” What had happened after breaking up with Nancy that left him so much worse at talking to other people? Was it Dustin’s influence? Was it just that he didn’t know how to be charming without being a total dick? He knew it was probably that one.
Leslie gave him a tight smile. “That’s sweet that you’re watching her favorite movies. She’s a nice girl. I'm glad she’s got someone that cares.”
“Yes! Robin is a nice girl!” He said energetically, even if that wasn’t necessarily a word he’d use for her. “She’s super cool and smart too. She speaks four languages and can translate Russian by ear.” he said, hyping her up, realizing now that Leslie had meant it’s sweet that you watch your girlfriend’s favorite movies.
“I…didn’t know that. Very impressive. You two make a cute couple.” She said, and it was audibly strained.
“We’re not dating. We’re just friends. Best friends.” He added at the end, a little embarrassed of himself. “But I do watch her favorite movies and thank you for seeing the value in that because Holy Mountain has literally been haunting me for two days and I just think that friends should get credit for doing that shit too.” He added in annoyance at nobody in particular.
“Oh!” She said, and he could hear the audible relief, and saw her glance back at the tv and swallow. Steve could see the gears grinding in her head and he could not believe that his terrible plan might be working. “That’s- I mean- I guess I just assumed.”
“Nope, not dating, she’s totally single. I asked her out a little after we first met because of all the cool hot smart stuff I said earlier but she was not interested and now we’re just friends.” He explained, trying to put emphasis on the not.
“Best friends.” Leslie said gently with a smile, her awkwardness gone and replaced with a very cautious beginning of a theory he was trying to confirm without saying anything.
“Yes! Best friends. Because she’s the best.” He said, nodding, and then Leslie nodded too. They stood there in silence for a second before Steve remembered he was checking out her movie.
He went to write down the number and furrowed his brow when he saw the title.
“National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation? This doesn’t seem like your kind of flick.” Steve said oddly, and her cheeks got a little red.
“I was kinda waiting for Robin to give me another recommendation.” She said with an awkward laugh.
Steve saw his opening, and was closing in on his plan quickly and efficiently. “Well, Robin really likes this movie.” He said, stepping aside so she had a full view of the tv and the lengthy stares between the two actresses. “Do you want to rent it?” he asked, suddenly kind of hoping she said no because he wanted to finish watching it.
“Uh, sure?” She said, and he reluctantly turned around to eject it and making it a full spin when he came up with an alternative.
“Oooh no!” He said in a dramatic fake tone akin to a child's television star that didn’t see you come in but wants to show you some puppets anyway. “This is actually Robin’s copy of Desert Hearts, and not the stores. So I can’t lend it to you.” He said in an exaggerated voice.
Leslie furrowed her brow. “Then why is it playing?”
“Becaaaaaause….she thought I’d like it and she knew it would be a slow day and she wasn’t working.” He pulled out of nowhere.  “But- you should come back tomorrow, when she is here and ask her to borrow it. Oh! Maybe you could watch it together and talk about cinema! Now that’s an idea!” He said, knowing he was overplaying it while he was talking and as Leslie stared at him incredulously.
“You…want me. To come in tomorrow. And ask your friend Robin if I can watch her copy of Desert Hearts with her?” Leslie asked, and Steve nodded profusely at the secret code the two of them had developed.
“Yes. That’s exactly what I think you should do. If you want to.” He said encouragingly, and he could tell that Leslie was running some serious cost-risk analysis gymnastics in her head trying to decide if this really weird situation was actually trustworthy. Steve knew that if he said anything else he could blow his cover, so he just kept his mouth shut.
A little smile came on Leslie’s face and she nodded.
“ I guess I’ll be back tomorrow, then.” She said, and Steve thought it was adorable how she was trying to hide her excitement.
She left with a little spring in her step and, unsurprisingly, National Lampoon’s stayed on the counter with him. Steve grinned, imagining how excited Robin was going to be, and started to rewind the movie because he was sure that he’d missed something important while he was talking to Leslie.
Friday
It was Friday at Family Video and Steve was acting….weird.
“Dude, tell me what’s wrong you know I can’t read body language.” She scolded and he shrugged energetically.
“Nothings wrong. Everything’s great!” He said, and reached out to pick a piece of fluff out of her hair so she would look her best when Leslie arrived but she smacked his hand away.
“Don’t touch my hair-Is it the Russians again?” Robin asked seriously.
“What? No. Why do you always assume it’s Russian?”
“Because of the time that it was Russians.”
“Yeah but it was only once.” He said calmly.
“That’s already too many times, Steve.” She said dryly. “Okay, fine, nothing’s wrong but something is up. What is it?”
He sighed. “Okay, but I’m only keeping it a secret because I don’t want you to freak out and get in your head about it.” He explained, and Robin’s eyes went wide.
“Oh no. What did you do?” she asked in horror.
“Not oh no! This is good!”
“Tell me now or I’m going to punch you in the throat Steve Harrington I took a self defense class after last summer.” She said sternly. Robin didn’t like surprises. Especially after the Russian thing.
Steve leaned in conspiratorially, looking around the store to double check that no customers had snuck in. “Leslie’s gonna ask you out today.”
“What?” Robin squeaked, her eyes going wide and her chest filling up with that extra special anxiety that was cooked up for her specifically by Sappho two thousand years ago and Ronald Reagan now.
“Yeah! It’s gonna be great- I had a whole plan to figure out if she was, y’know, pausing Fast Times and it worked and she’s gonna come in later and ask if she can come over and watch your copy of Desert Hearts.” He explained cheerfully, hoping that his enthusiasm would break through what he really hoped was happy stunned silence.
“What? How did you..? Did you tell her I was- I mean what the fuck, Dude- and what is Desert Hearts?” She stammered, trying to gather her thoughts.
“You haven’t seen it?” He asked in shock. “Oh my god it’s amazing the chemistry between Helen Shaver and Patricia Charbonneau is electric and-”
“Steve!” She said, snapping him out of his review.
“Right, sorry. I didn’t tell her anything, I just put on the movie and said that you liked it and she said she also liked it and I said that she should ask if you want to watch it.” He said calmly. “More or less.” he added, but Robin didn’t look any less freaked out. “What’s wrong? I thought you liked her.” He asked, truly confused.
That happened sometimes. Steve would assume he  said something wrong but that’s just because he doesn’t like seeing her upset. If he had just accidentally said something shitty at least he could just apologize but more often than not it was just something that she didn’t believe she could explain to him. He had asked her to try, he was her friend and he knew that he was the only one that knew she liked girls- He wanted her to be able to talk to somebody- he hated that his best friend ever felt alone.
“It’s not about that you just- you shouldn’t have done that.” She said angrily and walked towards the counter away from him.
“Why not? You’re always helping me get dates- why can’t I help you too?” He asked, hoping she could tell he was confused and not just being difficult.
“Because it’s different!” She snaped.
“You always say that but maybe it isn’t! Maybe I would understand. We’re friends, Robin. Just because we don’t have the same experiences doesn’t mean that I won’t be able to listen and help you. You told me about how much you liked Tammy- I thought you wanted to meet somebody.” He said, and Robin glanced at him, her hard gaze softening to something more awkward and nervous and familiar.
“It’s just…” she started, screwing up her face and trying to figure out how to explain something that frustrated her about herself endlessly. “It’s- fuck- okay,” she took a deep breath and tried to start, quickly scrubbing her face with her hand.
“I knew Tammy didn’t like me back. It wasn’t real it was just a stupid crush and it hurt like hell but it was still safe.” She tried, words spilling out of her.
“Robin, Leslie’s a nice girl. She’s not going to hurt you.” He said, pained at the fact that he got to ask out and get rejected by 20 girls a week and Robin could just watch from afar.
“That’s not what I mean. I mean, it kind of is, you never really know it’s just- fuck.” she groaned in frustration, pacing for a moment before finally finding her words.
“I don’t know what I’m doing, okay?” She said in a furious rush. “I’ve never done this before. It’s not like when you were ten and you got to walk up to a little girl on the playground and ask to hold her hand. I never got to learn how to flirt or ask my friends if the girl I like mentioned me or figure out when you’re allowed to put your arm around a date at the movies.
“Robin…” Steve said softly, but she wasn’t done and he wasn’t going to stop her. She took another unsteady breath
“I didn’t get a first date, or a first kiss or a dance with my crush at the Snow Ball or-or ever get to ask my mom for dating advice or gotten to hear my dad sternly talk to my date before giving a nod of approval.” Robin sniffed hard, her eyes watering up as she valiantly fought away the tears.
“I didn’t get any of that. And I’m never going to.” She said, her voice now rough with emotion and a little quieter. She wiped away a stray bit of wetness from her eye and twisted her mouth up. “Nobody’s going to be pulling up in a limo to take me to prom.”
“I’m always going to be different, and it’s hard and it hurts that all of that is just gone now and I missed all of it and I can’t ever get it back. I’m never gonna be a kid at the Snow Ball looking at Kelsey Landin sitting by the punch and not understanding what was so wrong about wanting to ask her to dance. I couldn’t even doodle our names in a heart in my notebooks.” She took a gasping breath and wiped away a tear that finally fell.
“It shouldn’t be like that.” She was almost talking to herself now, taking an angry breath and shaking her head. “I was just a kid. It wasn’t fair that for my entire life every person that has ever claimed to love me might have hated a piece of me so much that if I was sitting on the swing sets at recess holding hands with Jenny Becker instead of you then I would be utterly ostracized by everybody. Not just bullies. Friends, family, students, teachers, strangers. Grown-ass adults that would hate a child for the crime feeling the same way as every other kid but about the wrong kind of person.” Her voice was sad and proud and angry and valiantly holding down the waterworks that were going to come bursting through any second now.
“I mean, Jesus, Steve, you’re the only person I ever told and I did it totally on a whim fueled by adrenaline and truth serum- you have no idea what it’s like not knowing if anybody else I care about might turn on me and ruin my life if they actually knew me. I still don’t even know if my parents would still fucking love me if they knew I wanted to watch a stupid movie with a pretty girl and put my head on her shoulder.” Robin was humiliated that she was fully crying now, sitting down behind the desk on the floor and unable to stop. She had kept all of this in for so long and now it was pouring out of her involuntarily. Steve walked away for a moment and she felt an irrational panic that he was going to leave and not wantt to be her friend anymore because she couldn't keep the ugly parts of it to herself and left any discussion of her sexuality at vague looks of hot or not when a girl came into the store. She watched him go to the door and her heart froze until he just reached out flipped the sign to closed before coming back and sitting next to her on the floor.
Relief flooded her followed quickly by more misery that after all they’d been through her instincts still told her that she shouldn’t expect him to be okay with her saying any of this out loud and the tears came back in full force.
Steve put his arm around her and pulled her close so she could cry into his shoulder and patted her back as comfortingly as he could as his heart just fucking shattered. He remembered when they were in the Starcourt bathroom and she said that if he really knew her then he wouldn’t even want to be her friend. The two of them had just been kidnapped and tortured by evil invading Russians armed with bone saws and floor eating acid and Robin was afraid to tell him that she had a crush on Tammy Thompson. Even worse is that she had watched him be King Dickhead Steve for years and he had almost certainly given her a reason to think he wouldn’t be okay with it at some point.
You know what, Byers? I’m actually kind of impressed because I always took you for a queer but turns out you’re just a screwup like your father. Was what he had said to Jonathan after telling Nancy to go to hell. He felt bad as soon as he said it, but that didn’t stop him. Back then he didn’t know how to be hurt he just knew how to be angry. He had been heartbroken, in love, and an absolute piece of shit about it. About thirty seconds after saying it Jonathan was beating the ever loving shit out of him and each punch really hit home the fact that he absolutely deserved it.
He had actually thanked Jonathan later for very literally knocking some sense into him, and to his surprise, he forgave him. And it felt good. He hated who he used to be. He really did, so he had made a few phone calls and a few drop ins to make some heartfelt apologies to some surprised people that were genuinely shocked that he would ever have come around. The worst part is that he would never really know everybody that he hurt, never know who was out there overhearing him say something hateful and taking it to heart.
Robin was his favorite person. He wasn’t sure when it had happened but despite all his complaining she was somehow the only person he knew that really got him. She exploited that knowledge constantly and used it against him, sure, but she got him. He wished he could make her feel as understood as she did. But there would always be things like this that he never would’ve considered that she had gone through her whole life.
Eventually her breathing calmed down and she sat up, her breathing a bit unsteady and her face red and puffy. She gave him a watery smile when she saw their matching tear tracks and she patted him gratefully on the shoulder.
“I’m sorry about that- that was-”
“You don’t need to apologize, Robin. I’m serious.” He said, looking at her so she knew he meant it. “If I’m the only one you have to talk to about this then I want to hear it all, even when it’s sad and it sucks. Especially when it’s sad and it sucks.” He said, and took a deep breath. “You’re not alone anymore. Anybody tries to mess with you or make you feel like shit just come and get me and I know that I’m not enough to make up for the entire world’s garbage but if there’s anything I can do to make all of that even a fraction less shitty for you then I’ll do it.”
He looked at his hands for a moment, feeling a confession of his own coming on.
“You’re the best friend I’ve ever had, you know.” Steve said honestly, and Robin quirked an eyebrow. “Like, even though I was super popular and knew everybody I still only really hung out with Tommy and Carol and they were just the worst.” he sighed, not knowing how to say this without making it seem like he was trying to get out of responsibility for being a shithead.
“I have never met two people so good at making somebody feel like a fucking loser like Tommy and Carol and there is nobody better at making you terrified of being that loser like they could. I’m not saying that they forced me to shove nerds against lockers or anything but any time I tried to do the right thing they’d just shut me down and taunt me until it felt like if I didn’t do whatever bullshit they wanted me to then everybody would think I wasn’t a real man or some shit and they’d drop me and then I wouldn’t be fucking King Steve anymore.” He shook his head, his hair wobbling as he swore and looked at Robin, unsure if he was getting across what he was trying to and he saw that she was listening, even if her thing had been bigger and more painful she still cared.
“And that’s exactly what happened. For the first time in my life I stood up to them instead of for them and Tommy punched me in the face and drove away. Never even tried to talk to me again. Then at school they started all kinds of rumors and talked shit about me all the time and then I wasn’t King Steve anymore and…” he trailed off and had a little smile “and then I was happy.” He said, in a little disbelief.
“I was thinking about that the other day, pointing at you and Tammy in Ms Clicks class and asking young Robin one day, one of those two people will be the only person you trust enough to tell that you’re not into dudes.” She said, a little mystically, and Steve burst out laughing, and Robin quickly followed. Their laughter calmed down and they knew that the storm had passed and they came out better on the other side of it. They grabbed each others hands to hoist each other back to a standing position and looked at  each other grinning.
“I didn’t fucking hate myself anymore, I got to follow my own instincts and do the right thing. Sure, Nancy dumped my ass and broke my heart and it actually felt so good to just…be sad. Without Tommy and Carol taunting and yelling at me until I felt so angry and pathetic that we’d spray paint her name on the movie theater again and I would’ve felt like absolute shit about it for the rest of my life. I was totally heartbroken but for the first time in my life I actually got to feel it and it. Then Dustin Henderson of all people comes sprinting at me one day and says that everybody else is busy and he needs my help.” He grinned. “It’s just stupid, right? All that time I only cared about being popular and if I could tell my younger self that someday I’d be working in at the video store for minimum and I’d spend all my time hanging out with a 15 year old egomaniac and a band geek that I was briefly a little bit in love with until she rejected me and the entire male population on the floor of a mall bathroom I’d do it and let him know up front that they’re honestly the reason that I’ve never been happier. Really rub his nose in it too.” He said, and Robin laughed aloud in that special way he recognized because it always preceded I was just about to say that.
“Is my face red?” She asked, touching it and being a bit satisfied at how healthy her skin felt after crying.
“Yeah but just give it a couple minutes.” He said, and she nodded. “Hey, when Leslie does get here you can go hide in the back or something if you really don’t want to talk to her, I know I overstepped, but if you need any advice on stuff you didn’t get a chance to learn let me know, no judgment- guaranteed.”
Robin furrowed her brow. “Wait- how exactly did your conversation with Leslie go yesterday? Did you just point at the screen and ask if she liked the movie?” She asked incredulously, and Steve slowly began to nod.
“Uhhh…yeah. That’s exactly what I did.” He said, and she started to laugh again. Steve grinned when he heard a laugh that seemed a little lighter now.
About an hour later the bell rang and Leslie came in. Steve nodded at her and went into the shelves to give quiet support and maybe some advice via arm gestures from behind Leslie, and Robin took a deep breath.
Both girls were extremely nervous, both giggling when their eyes met in a way that reminded Steve a bit of middle school. He smiled to himself and resented the tears pricking at the corners of his eyes when he thought about her getting a chance at simple, blushy, giggly, inexperienced romance for the first time. She deserved it, more than anybody.
“So, um, this is kind of a weird question but I stopped by yesterday to see if you have a copy of um…Desert Hearts?” Leslie said tentatively like she was giving a secret password at a speakeasy and hoping it was the right one.
Robin had a determined look on her face that didn’t necessarily give off a romantic vibe but he could feel her relentless bravery from where he stood.
“I’ve heard of it.” Robin tried to say mysteriously, waiting for the next part.
“And your friend with the hair- He said that, um, that you didn’t have it at the store but he said that you had a copy and that maybe…..you…might…want to watch it with me?” She said, finishing with a smile that was also a grimace. Steve was delighted at how awkward the girl who had seemed so cool all week had gotten.
“I…would like that very much.” Robin said, holding in all her excitement to seem casual when inside she was exploding.
“Cool.” Leslie said, and she and Robin stared at each other in gleeful silence until they made a plan to meet after her shift and Leslie left, waving awkwardly while walking out the door. The bell rang as the door shut and Robin turned around so she could catch her weight against the counter, but Steve’s eyes followed Leslie out the door first and saw her get into a car parked out front with a driver that was currently giving her a high five and obviously congratulating her. Steve waved subtly to the silhouette of the other wingman and he waved back before they drove  away.
Steve then walked up to Robin to see her smiling dreamily and starry eyed.
“Cool.” She said softly, and smiled again. She wasn’t much help around the store for the rest of the day, but every glance he got of the wistful Robin putting tapes back in the wrong places and saying cool in a whisper every few moments and giggling made it worth it.
Saturday
Steve waited anxiously outside Robin’s house before work and was annoying himself more and more every time his brain made the comparison of a parent waiting for their kid after their first day of school to ask how it went when they’ve spent the whole day worrying. It wasn’t like that, but he was still anxious for her to come outside.
Robin opened the door and waved goodbye to her family and started towards the car. He could see the size of her grin from the moment she was in sight.
When she got into the car she was silent for a moment, and he refused to drive, only stared at her expectantly
    “So? How’d it go?”
Robin was trying to play it cool despite the fact that she was bouncing in her chair.
“You know that whole list of things I thought I had missed out on and it was too late for? Let’s just say I…checked a couple things off.” She said coyly, and Steve grinned at her proudly and gave her a victorious shoulder pat. That’s when she exploded into squeals and all that sandy hair shaking around her as she bounced up and down.
“Oh my god, Steve, it was amazing. She was so cool and pretty and funny and we had so much in common and we, um” She stopped and her cheeks turned red, and Steve’s eyebrows shot up.
“I knew it. I knew that you had it in you to be a total chick magnet.” He said proudly, and she grinned at him, shrugging in concession.
“Turns out I’m a natural Cassanova.” She said with only a hint of irony, and turned her head to look at him. “Thank you, Steve. I mean it.” she said with a tone so genuine that it almost sounded strange in her voice.
Steve nodded and smiled back. “No worries. I’m your wingman, it’s what friends do. And I like seeing you happy.”
            The End.
“Well then…you did what you came to do, because I’m really really happy right now. You’re a good friend.” She said with a sweet finality. Things would stop being mushy and go back to normal but they’d never be the same.
As they began their drive to work they glanced at each other and smiled one more time. Robin had never been so grateful to have a friend like Steve, and Steve had never been so proud to have a friend like her.

Summary: During one of the Avengers' missions, they stumble across a young girl.
Part 2
At this point, you were running.
Running for your life. Running as fast as you could. Running from...
You have no idea what you are running from anymore.
You've been running for too long in this dark and strange forest, that you don't even remember from what you are running or who you are.
Your feet were hurting you and your energy was running low. Your breathing was heavier and heavier. Your head was pounding.
The rush of adrenaline was so high that you realized you had banged your head on something when you were already on the ground and with your blurry vision, before you passed out, you saw people hovering above you.
The Avengers were assigned to take down a HYDRA base located in some unknown forest.
But the last thing they expected to come upon, when they were going back to the QuinJet, was a young teenage girl running scared from something.
Accidentally, Steve hit her with his shield and the poor girl passed out from the force of the impact.
"Oh God, oh God, oh God." Steve shouted, leaning over the girl "What have I done?"
"Move, Rogers." Natasha pushed Steve aside and got closer to the unconscious girl
"What is she doing here?"
"We need to take her to the QuinJet!"
"Who's this?!"
Tony, Natasha, and Sam said at the same time but as expected Natasha won.
Steve picked you up and carried you to the Jet. Once inside, he laid you down on the floor, Wanda putting a pillow she found somewhere under your head.
"She's okay. Most probably she has a concussion but no serious damage." Bruce announced after he quickly checked you up "But I'd still like to take her to my lab and run more tests, just to make sure she's okay."
The team nodded and each one spread around to do their own things.
But Natasha was the only one to stay by your side just in case anything happened.
The redhead found herself staring at your face. She doesn't know why, but your presence made Natasha feel something special towards you. She felt like she needed to protect you.
Three hours later you were already resting on Natasha's bed back at the compound, with the woman in question watching over you.
You hadn't woken up at all during the journey back or while Bruce examined you. You haven't even felt the way Natasha held your hand all this time, trying to provide you with some comfort even in your unconscious state.
Opening your eyes slowly, you tried to adjust your eyes to the light and take in your surroundings.
Before you got time to even start panicking because you didn't recognize your surroundings, a soft voice reassured you.
"Shh... You're safe. Don't worry. We're not going to hurt you. You're safe with me." The voice of a woman whispered softly
You slightly relaxed as your eyes shot to the place from where the voice came and you found there a red-headed woman, in her early 30's, with the most beautiful green eyes you had ever seen.
But Natasha visibly tensed. Because when she locked her eyes with yours, your, also, green eyes reminded her of a ghost from her past that, no matter how hard she tried, she would never be able to forget.
"Who are you?" You asked confused "Where am I?"
"Calm down." Natasha kept her voice calm "You're at the Avengers' compound. We found you a few hours ago running alone in a forest."
"I know who the Avengers are. I've heard stories." You nodded, almost fully relaxing
"That's good." Natasha slightly smiled "Then you know that we are no threat. I'm Natasha. Natasha Romanoff."
Your eyes widened at the ex-assassin's name and she could see that you know more than just some simple facts about her work with the Avengers.
When the silence between you two grew too long, Natasha decided to ask you something else.
"What is your name?" Natasha asked
You stared at her for a moment, thinking about her question.
"I-I don't know. I don't remember if I ever had one. They call me 'Subject 11'." You answered truthfully
Natasha's heart broke for the girl in front of her. She didn't even have a name. What possibly those monsters could have done more to you?
"Who called you that?" Natasha questioned
"The guards." You whispered "They kept me locked in a cell all the time, beat me. And when something happened last night, the guards left me unsupervised and I escaped."
Natasha picks up on what actually happened. You must have been one of the innocent prisoners that were inside the HYDRA base they attacked. And you escaped while they were fighting with the enemy.
"How old are you?" She asked very softly
"Maybe 15. If I remember correctly."
Natasha's breath caught in her throat.
"How about 'Y/N'?" The woman asked trying to put on a poker face "If you're going to stay with us, then you'll need a name, so we could know how to call you."
You smiled and nodded. You love that name. It has a special ring to it.
"I love it. Thank you." You smiled "How did you choose it?"
Natasha's face fell and she looked from you to a wall.
"I've chosen it after months of careful thinking." She blankly answered
"But you've only known me for a few hours..." You were confused
"I'll come back to you in a few hours. If you need something just say it and we will know." The spy started walking towards the door
And with that, Natasha stormed out of the room.
You ended up staying at the compound for longer than anticipated.
And everyone grew really attached to you and you also loved them.
But as expected, your relationship with Natasha was the one that grew the strongest.
You two became inseparable in a span of a few months.
And Steve kept on saying 'sorry' to you almost every day for accidentally hitting you with his shield. But you always waved him off saying that if it wasn't for that, you wouldn't have gotten the chance to be now with them.
"Why are you doing this to yourself, Nat?" Clint asked a crying Natasha
Natasha looked up from the picture that was ripped in half from her hands and stared at Clint.
"You know why." She whispered
"Y/N reminds you of her, doesn't she? Of your Y/N? That's why you are treating her like your own child? Because she was able to make you smile again?" Clint sat down next to Natasha on the couch and put his hand on her back
"I miss her so much, Clint. I feel like I also died with her that day." Natasha sobbed "How can I move on?"
"You don't, Nat. But it's been almost 10 years since that night. You should stop blaming yourself for something that wasn't your fault and start to, at least, try to move on. For her. I know she wouldn't have wanted you to be sad." Clint rubbed her back "Of what you had told me about her, I know she loved you too much to not want your happiness. Even without her."
This only made Natasha sob even louder, like her heart was ripped from her chest.
"9 years, 5 months and 2 days." Natasha whispered the exact date
"What have you done to her, Robin Hood?" You pushed Clint aside and hugged Natasha from one side
You were on your way to get yourself a snack when you heard Natasha and Clint talking in the living room. You didn't plan on picking up on their conversation but when Natasha started crying you just couldn't help yourself.
"I'll leave you two alone." Clint eyed Natasha and then left
You hugged Natasha tight, not observing that she had quickly shoved something in her pocket.
Natasha has treated you with love and affection these past months and you really appreciate everything she did for you.
From waking you up in the morning, to making you lunch and to tucking you in at night, Natasha tried to make you feel as comfortable and safe as she could.
And seeing her in this state made you sad.
"So you gave me the name of someone that was once important to you?" You asked after a minute
Natasha just nodded.
Then she got up, took your hand, and dragged you towards the car.
"Where are we, Tasha?" You questioned the redhead once she stopped the car
"You'll see. Come on." She slightly smiled for you and pointed her head to the car door
You silently followed her.
Turns out she has brought you to some kind of cemetery. It was more like 5 graves spread closely to each other in a well-illuminated forest.
She got closer to one lonely gravestone placed near a tree.
Kneeling, next to it, Natasha put her forehead on top of the cold stone and absentmindedly traced the words on it with her fingers.
"Hey... I've missed you so much today." Natasha whispered to the stone, tears in her eyes "Who am I trying to fool? I miss you every single second of my cursed life. I only want to have you here with me. To hold you in my arms. To sing to you again that lullaby you love so much. To protect you while you peacefully sleep in my arms at night." Natasha sadly chuckled "But I know that's not possible for me anymore."
She turned her head to you for a second before looking back at the stone.
You awkwardly stood around, not understanding what was going on.
"Today I've brought someone with me and it's not Uncle Clint, as you would expect. Maybe I'll also bring him next time. But right now I've come with this kind and beautiful girl that made me remember you." Natasha took a deep breath trying to keep her voice steady "I'm not trying to replace you with her and she isn't trying to take your place either. But she just made the time pass easier."
Natasha finally raised to her feet and you could clearly read now what was written on the gravestone.
The words made your heart fall to your stomach and gave you have a slight idea of what is going on.
'Y/N Rose Romanoff
Y/B/D, 2001
September 14, 2007'
"Y/N... Meet my other Y/N. She's my little angel that you heard me talking about with Clint." Natasha smiled sadly
"Y-You had a child?" You asked, the words hardly getting out of your mouth
"Have." Natasha corrected "I have a child. Just because she's not with me, that doesn't mean that I'm not her mother anymore."
You stayed silent in place for a second, trying to process the information you were just given.
"She was born in the Red Room. I was 16, almost 17 when I had her. Her father was a soldier who died before she was born. They knew I was seeing him in secret, that I loved him and he loved me, and that I wanted to run away with him." Natasha wiped a tear away "And they let us plan our escape, then brutally separated us. I was 7 months pregnant when we decided to run."
"Then?" You asked
"Then Y/N was born and I focused all my time and energy on her. I tried to protect her the best I could and I started to think about escaping again. And we did. We ran away when she was 5. We were on the run for a year but we were living a happy and normal life together. But one night they found us."
Taking a shy step forward you looked at Natasha. "What happened to her?"
~~~~~
September 14, 2007
A day Natasha will never be able to forget.
"Mama! I'm tired. We still have to run?" Her baby asked
"Yes, Y/N. If the bad guys find us, they will punish us. Remember?" Natasha held Y/N tighter in her arms as she kept running through the dark forest
"I love you, Mama."
Y/N was small, but not stupid. She maybe was 6 years old but she had the brain of a 16-year-old. And Natasha knew that her daughter understood that it would be the end for both of them if they got caught.
"I love you too, detka. More than anything."
Natasha had time to only finish her sentence when something hit her in the leg, making her fall to the ground.
On instinct, the mother rolled to one side, trying to take as much of the impact of the fall as she could.
But before she got time to realize what happened, she heard her child scream for her as the little girl was taken from her arms and two men, clearly stronger than Natasha, lift her from the ground and kept her in place.
Natasha tried.
She really tried. She fought with all her strength to reach her girl. But it was useless.
"You thought you could run away just like that, Natasha?" The man she feared the most said
Dreykov. The man that had made Natasha's life a living hell, was now holding her baby girl by one arm. Pointing a gun to the child's head with his other hand.
"Don't! Please. I'll do anything. You can do whatever you want with me. You can punish me and beat me. Just please let my child go." Natasha cried
"But this is your punishment, Natasha." Dreykov spitted out
And right there. Right in front of her eyes. Dreykov pulled the trigger.
Her Y/N's body fell to the ground with a loud thund.
Lifeless.
The sight of the lifeless body is the last thing Natasha remembers before passing out from the sick sight in front of her.
~~~~~
"I woke up a day later back in the Red Room. That day I became a mother without her child. And there is no pain bigger than this one. The pain of losing your child. Your whole world." Natasha finished her story with one last sob "I escaped again after that, met Clint, and found the place where they had buried her. My heart and soul are here. Buried six feet under in this forest."
"I'm so sorry, Tasha. I'm so sorry." You jumped forward and hugged Natasha
"Isn't your fault, kid." She patted your back, trying her hardest not to break down
"I also think I had a mother once, you know?! I can't remember her. Damn it! I can't even remember my own name. But I dream about her from time to time. Of how much she loved me. I'm not sure if it's only in my head or not, but..." You found yourself saying in hopes of making Natasha feel better
"I understand, kid. I do."
Natasha let go of you and with one last kiss and whispered 'I love you' to the gravestone, she drove you back to the compound.
Two months had passed since then and you two haven't talked about it. Not even once.
But one night, you ended up falling asleep in Natasha's room and she didn't have the heart to wake you up and take you to your own room. Instead, she snuggled closer to you and also fell asleep.
In the middle of the night, you stood up, scared, startling Natasha from her sleep.
"Y/N? What happened?" Natasha asked concerned
"Nothing." You tried to catch your breath "Just a dream."
You weren't brave enough to tell her that you dreamed about your mother again. But this time, your mom had Natasha's face.
Ever since she revealed her secret to you, you keep having these weird dreams.
"Want to go to the living room and watch a movie?" Natasha asked sleepily
"I'd love to. Thank you." You smiled gratefully
After everything was set up, you were sitting on the floor in front of Natasha and she was sitting on the couch.
Natasha reached her hand to your hair and shyly asked "Can I braid it?"
"Of course." You laughed "If you manage to actually do something with my hair."
You two sat quietly while the movie played, with Natasha braiding your hair. More like playing with it and running her fingers through it.
The woman's focus was broken when her eye caught a glimpse of something on the side of your head, nearly to the back and her fingers ghosted over a small scar.
"Hey, Y/N?"
"Yeah?" You answered, still focused on the TV
"From where did you get this scar?" She held her breath as she asked
"Oh, that? I don't remember a time when I didn't have it. I think I've always had it." You explained
You kept enjoying the movie after that, but Natasha's mind was fixed on only one thought.
She needs to talk with Bruce, Steve, and Clint first thing in the morning.
She needs some answers.

Silvio Ricci - PRETEND LOVER Event - Another Terrible Summary
Tumblr media
(Yes, he is blushing. And yes, you'd better get used to his red-faced dumbstruck look because it's happening. Often.)
Here is my absolutely irreverent and chock full of hyperbole, only nominally-guaranteed-accurate rendition of Silvio's event story.
****************
Please always bear in mind that 1) I claim to be no expert in JP and there are and will be mistakes in this so show mercy on this amateur - and if you see any obvious mistakes, kindly let me know so I can improve 2) I didn't even TRY to make Silvio's dialogue as rude as it is. Always, at all times, assume this man is talking like a foul-mouthed sailor.
Aaaaaand 3) I made this so fucking long. Why did I feel compelled to be so detailed idk - this isn't even really a summary anymore it's just the whole damn event. FML
****************
So our story starts with Emma walking down the hall and being stopped by a very persistent aristocratic man she’s been dodging for days now - almost a dozen times now whenever she’s found herself alone he’s popped up, ‘coincidentally’, pestering her to have tea or spend time with him.
He tries again today, stating how beautiful it is outside and how she should join him for tea. She tries to make her excuses, apologizing and saying she has a prior engagement, but this stalker says no, he knows that’s not true - she doesn’t have anything on her schedule, he’s already checked with the servants in court.
She’s dismayed and also more than a bit wtf internally, when he presses her and says she doesn’t have any reason to hesitate so they should go. Takes her by the hand, making her skin sort of literally crawl, and tries to pull her off - only to be interrupted by a voice.
“Found you.”
Someone’s hand comes from behind and snags her, hauling her in…and she turns around to find, to her horror, that it’s Silvio there behind her. The tyrant himself, the last person she probably wants to see or have anything to do with because he is patently The Worst.
She can tell already that today is going to be rough.
He’s got his arms around her from behind, caught up too in his fancy schmancy exotic cologne, when he scolds her for making a hassle of herself. She’s one part relieved to be rescued from the creepy aristo guy…and one part full of dread because it’s Silvio that’s saved her and she knows he is far faaaar from a nice man.
He says with a smile how she’d already make a promise to him for the next while, and she’s blankly like….promise??? Prompting him to scowl at her before she’s all OH RIGHT RIIIIGHT THAT PROMISE RIGHT NOW YEP YEP. Realizing that maybe he’s trying to cover for her excuse to the aristocrat earlier.
Silvio’s grinning, but then he turns to the aristocrat and brushes him off, stating he doesn’t know who the guy is but he shouldn’t dare touch someone else’s woman - specifically, this woman is his.
Tumblr media
Cue the aristocrat nearly pissing himself with terror, and Emma wondering wtf??
“Isn’t that right, woman?” Silvio prompts, and she’s left scrambling to say that maybe? That might be true??
She’s wondering if this is some attempt at protecting her, but her gut is telling her WARNING WARNING you in danger girl. Silvio’s got a wicked look and is clearly up to no good, but she’s pretty desperate here.
The aristocrat hastily apologizes, saying he had no idea that was the case, before he scampers off like a terrified rabbit.
Silvio scoffs at the guy in his absence, before turning back to Emma and telling her they should go. They have a promise to keep, no? She’s just silent, wary, and he grins.
“Come with me to a negotiation, woman. You certainly can’t refuse the invitation of your benefactor….right?” he presses.
She’s just YEP, had a feeling this was coming…but she forces herself to say it’d be her pleasure, much to Silvio’s great satisfaction.
—---
They end up at a fancy dressmaker’s shop, where the clerk who seems utterly unsurprised to see them sets about bustling Emma into a changing room and dressing her up in clothes and jewelry as if she were some kind of doll, much to her bemusement. Complete with a lavish jeweled necklace that makes her nearly sick at hearing the price.
Silvio points out that he can’t have any woman of his looking poor, and she asks if he’s insisting they stick with that scenario. She’d assumed it was just to put up a front for that aristocrat.
“Just for the day. Consider it an honor - there are countless women out there who would love to be my girl,” Silvio says with a smirk.
“And if I refuse?” she asks.
He threatens to hand her over to that perverted bastard, and she knows he’s talking about that aristocrat from before, so she has no real choice other than to silence her protests. But then something occurs to her and she asks him why, if he’s got alllll these women just throwing themselves at him, why doesn’t he ask one of them to play the role of his lover??
She doesn’t get why, but she has the distinct feeling he was searching for someone to attend this business talk with him in the role of his paramour.
He states too that it doesn’t make any sense if it’s not her.
“Why?” she presses.
“It just doesn’t,” he insists.
She points out that that’s not an answer, and he’s clearly getting frustrated, telling her to just quit her yammering - she can keep the clothes and the finery, just come with him. In a panic she tells him she can’t accept that, thinking to herself in horror how much money it is worth and how she’d have to work for years and years to make that much to pay him back.
She’s shaking her head when Silvio, his expression all a sour frown, grabs her chin and leans in. “Then I’ll buy you at whatever price you name.”
She’s flailing now because GORGEOUS MAN TOO CLoSE she’s gotta look away from those pretty pretty ocean eyes as she tells him it’s not a matter of money. “You helped me out today, so I’m going along with you as a way of saying thanks. So I don’t need to be paid for it.”
He just stops to stare at her all wide-eyed and wordless, and she starts to wonder why he looks so stunned.
Tumblr media
Finally, she asks him to let go of her face…and he bitches that she shouldn’t try to order him around but he does so immediately anyways.
Moving on, he asks if she’s ready to go with him then and when she says yes he scolds her to smile then - she looks so glum she doesn’t exactly look like his lover. She feels a little bad she made it so obvious, and she promises to try her best - but despite that promise, he still looks displeased.
—---
They end up at the home of a prominent merchant in the Rhodolite jewelry business, the head of one of the largest and most famous in the country. Silvio and the merchant exchange business pleasantries, catching up on the past few years since they’ve met, and Emma sits silently and listens - realizing he was being legit, it really is just a business meeting.
The merchant expresses thanks for Silvio introducing them to many trade channels, even those outside of Benitoite, and he tells the man his good are so quality it’d be a shame for them to never make it out of this small country.
He’s there today to discuss a new opportunity with the merchant, one the man is very eager for since he claims it’s certain to be a success if Silvio is involved. But the man first makes note of how rare it is for Silvio to bring a woman along with him to a business endeavor, turning his attention to Emma.
He seems impressed that any particular ‘lovely flower’ of Rhodolite has caught Silvio’s eye, and Emma knows that is an oblique way of referring to a mistress in Rhodolite. She realizes she’s meant to act more as his mistress or arm candy than a true girlfriend, but she hides all those complicated feels behind a pretty smile.
But at that moment she hears something crash and everyone looks at the doorway to the room where Emma sees a woman standing, her face in her hands looking as if she were on the verge of crying.
“Ah, you’re up, woman,” Silvio prompts Emma.
Tumblr media
She’s not sure what he means by that, looking back and forth between a frowning Silvio and the woman starting to cry. There are broken tea cups and such around the woman’s feet, a tea set she’d clearly been bringing them, and brushing aside whatever Silvio seems to want from her she turns to the teary woman.
“Are you hurt?” she asks, running over to her, and through her sobs the woman declares that she was serious about Silvio.
It all finally makes sense to Emma, who looks back at him and sees him scowling, though he’s as haughty as ever, as she says his name.
He insists he doesn’t know what she’s talking about, they had a meal and he gave her a little gift - clearly he doesn’t think it was any big deal. But Emma realizes there might have been a misunderstanding.
“Prince Silvio, is that woman really your paramour?” the woman asks him.
“That’s right,” he says. “You heard me, didn’t you?”
The woman is stammering denials and clearly distraught, and Emma realizes she seemed to have really liked Silvio, as she succumbs to her tears at last.
Emma tries to hold her up as she sags, but the woman shakes her off, and her heart is breaking at the sight - wondering if she can confess it’s all a lie and fake. She doesn’t know what Silvio’s up to here, but she doesn’t want any part of stomping all over some woman’s love. “Please, don’t worry. I’m -”
But that’s as far as she gets before her words are cut off by Silvio clapping a hand over her mouth and offering that if she doesn’t like being his mistress, he’ll bump her up to full-fledged lover. He’s smiling but clearly pissed, though that makes two of them - she tries to claw his hand off her but he holds on tighter.
“What, you’re that pleased?” he asks, to her muffled noise of protests. “Don’t worry, I’ve decided that the only woman in Rhodolite for me is you. I’m not in the mood to play the field much now.”
She’s incensed, raging to herself over how much of a skeezy lowlife this man is, flailing and fighting as he holds her even tighter still, pressing them even closer together. (Hon hon hon 😉)
Until with a wail, overcome at last, the poor woman runs away in tears without Emma ever getting the chance to set her straight.
“Don’t go running your mouth, stupid,” Silvio hisses in her ear as soon as she’s gone, finally letting her go.
She rounds on him, catching her breath. “Go after her and apologize right now!”
He’s totally baffled, frowning as he insists he doesn’t have anything to apologize for, but Emma is furious as she tells him he DOES, for what happened just now. Silvio just insists he doesn’t get what she’s saying, and she’s about to let him have it again when he stops her mouth again.
“More like, you’ve got some nerve talking to me that way, don’t you?” he sneers. He’s not hurting her but her mouth is blocked again, his stupidly handsome face leaning in to give her a once-over. “And don’t give me that defiant look. You’re doing this to thank me, right?”
She’s thinking how she did want to thank him for helping her out of the blue, but she’s got lines she can’t cross. Rather, she grips his hand over her mouth hard - knowing she’s not gonna win any strength contests against a man but wanting to make it very clear to him she was defiant.
He scoffs that she’s not being cute and they’re glaring at each other, sparks practically flying in the air, when they’re finally interrupted by the poor merchant who’s still there just….UHHHH SCUSE ME…?
Silvio apologizes for the fuss, and the man apologizes in return for his daughter’s behavior, Emma realizing the tearful woman must be the merchant’s own daughter. They go back to their discussions as if nothing’s happened - she’s still got PLENTY to say to him, but can’t interrupt now.
—---
The moment they’ve left the meeting, she’s pouncing on him again, saying how awful that was. She still feels wretched and wracked with guilt. Silvio asks if she's STILL going on about that, and tells her to forget it - he’d brought her here to get put an end to all this from the start.
She had a feeling that had been his purpose all along. “Do you have no heart at all?”
Even if he can’t return a woman’s feelings, there has to be SOME better way to turn them down than what he did here, she feels. But the way he took that woman’s heart and crumpled it up and tossed it aside, like trash into a wastebasket, infuriates her beyond reason.
“A heart? That’s got nothing to do with business,” he says, to her further outrage.
Tumblr media
“Besides, I don’t act like that towards every woman.” He says that profitable ones are worth paying for, but not that particular woman - and he had to find some way to break things off without being rude because she’s the daughter of a business partner.
“You had to treat her with consideration, so you set me up as your lover and tried to get her to give up?” Emma rephrases.
“Yeah…so what the hell’s with the attitude just now?” he demands, warning her that he’s not going to just let it slide the next time she puts him in an uncomfortable position.
He literally doesn’t think he did anything wrong here, she realizes. She’s never thought of him as some kind of saint or anything but she didn’t think he was bad enough to just walk all over other people indiscriminately. “I see, it’s all very clear now.”
He turning around when he realizes she’d stopped a few steps back and asks what’s with the sudden honesty.
“It’s all very clear now - that you are the scum of the earth, the sort of person who stomps all over other people’s hearts!” she accuses furiously.
Angrily he asks if she’s looking for a fight and she retorts he’s already gotten himself  one, taking him aback.
“Do you honestly think you can do whatever you want to something that doesn’t make you a profit?” she asks.
He says that it’s just a hassle and a waste of time that could be better spent elsewhere. “If it’s not worth money, it’s not worth the care.”
It’s a fundamental different of opinion, she realizes. “Money isn’t everything.” She reiterates to him that that woman seemed to really like him, regardless of money or anything like that, but he counters that he’s not buying that - there’s plenty of women who are underhanded gold-diggers.
She vehemently denies that that was the case here, thinking to herself that nobody cries the way that woman had over money, and asks how he doesn’t seem to get that.
Silvio still maintains he doesn’t know what she’s talking about.
“You must lack some basic part of humanity.” She knows she’s being outrageously disrespectful to the prince of a foreign country but she’s too far gone to care right now, not with the memory of that woman’s tears still seared in her mind. “If you keep thinking like that…I don’t think anyone could ever love you.”
She’s half ranting when she suddenly senses the change in the air.
“You….”
CHOOSE YOUR FIGHTER ENDING HERE: Premium
Silvio’s got a thunderous frown as he closes the gap between them and grabs ahold of her hand, dragging her to a nearby alley. “I can't stand women like you.”
“What a coincidence, the feeling is mutual,” she fires back.
He half scoffs, saying she’s got cajones to take on the prince from another country, and she retorts that just being a prince isn’t any excuse for stepping all over other people’s hearts. He tells her that he can alway fix things with money, and she starts to protest -
Only for it to be cut off before she’s barely started by his hand hitting the wall beside her with a loud bang, his handsome face close enough that their breath is mingling as he offers to just buy her, at whatever her asking price.
Tumblr media
She realizes this is all pointless…nothing she says is going to get through to him. “No thank you!” She shoves at his chest and he doesn’t fight her as she pushes him away - but he still grabs ahold of her hand.
Irritated, he says they’ve wasted enough time here and they’ll be late for his next appointment, insisting that he’s not done with her yet despite her protests that she has zero interest in going anywhere else. “Denied. No matter what you say, you’re my woman for the day.”
She’s half dragged back out into the streets proper - but if he wants to be like that, she decides, he’s given her an idea.
—---
Next they find themselves at a nobleman’s mansion, and Emma can’t miss the woman on their way in who’s clearly thrilled to see Silvio, realizing it’s set to be the same scenario all over again. Silvio reminds her warily that she’s she’s just gotta keep quiet and sit next to him, nothing else unless she wants him to get back at her.
They’re cooling their heels, waiting for this business partner of his to show up, and she decides it’s now or never if she’s going to put her plan into action. As they’re seated, taking their tea, she waits until Silvio’s set his teacup back down after taking a sip, and the moment he does she tosses any shame aside and hugs his arm as tightly as she can.
He’s startled, and she launches into her attack. “It’s so lonely just sitting here in silence, Prince Silvio,” she pouts, and demands that he pay attention to her and not his business deal, or else she’ll never let go. Dredging up the recollection of a wicked woman she’d read about in one of her book and assuming the role, shoving aside embarrassment as she wriggles and clings to him even harder.
She figured, if she made herself enough of an annoyance, he’d kick her out of the meeting. But in actuality…
He’s completely nonresponsive, no reaction whatsoever. She’s been braced for him to chew her out but all she’s getting is crickets and she wonders - did she piss him off SO MUCH that he can’t even form words??
She lifts her head with all sorts of trepidation to peek up at him…and is completely gobsmacked to see his wickedly handsome face is just awash in flaming red.
Tumblr media
“...Prince Silvio?” It doesn’t seem like he’s red in the face because he’s angry, and she’s just thinking NO NO WAY HE’D BE ALL SHY, pfft not Silvio -
“...Let go of me, you idiot!” he sputters as he comes back to himself, trying to pull his arm free of her grasp when he freezes all over again and his face somehow manages to turn redder and redder.
Totally baffled, she’s asking what’s wrong as he accuses her of doing this on PURPOSE, but she’s just echoing that in bemusement. He’s half shouting she IS, before he covers his face with his free hand and heaves the world’s biggest sigh, then glances down at her.
Or more accurately, down at his arm, as he manages (still blushing furiously) to point out that she’s touching him. She’s just ??? before it finally clicks, to her horror.
He’s talking about her tiddies, mashed onto his arm as she’s hugging it so tightly.
She lets go in a bigass hurry, just stammering. “N-n-no, I didn’t mean to do that!!”
He’s still totally silent, eyes closed and face still en fuego as she keeps flailing and insisting she didn’t do it on purpose.
Tumblr media
When they're rescued (?) by the nobleman coming in apologizing for keeping him waiting. And in an instant 180 Silvio’s recovered, cool as a cucumber, his blush gone so fast as he greets the man that she half wonders if the whole thing was some kinda illusion…but she has the recollection of it seared into her brain.
No WAY….she’s thinking, trying to wrap her brain around what just happened. So stunned she can do little but sit there the entire rest of the meeting.
—---
Afterwards, they're sitting in the carriage in WORLD'S AWKWARDEST SILENCE. Silvio's seated himself diagonally across from her, as far away as he can possibly get in the carriage, and she wonders if he’s still on edge because USUALLY Silvio’s got no problem with them casually touching but he’s clearly making an effort to be out of reach.
She starts to say his name but he cuts her off. “You say one more word, you’re gonna get it.” He’s still got his arm propped in the window, staring out it all moody, refusing to make eye contact with her.
She’s just OHOHO how fascinating…and she gets up all casually and takes a seat next to him, watching him flinch when she does.  She can’t help but laugh a little at the sight.
“You…” he warns.
She manages to get out an apology, still amused, and says it’s just too much of a surprise. “Maybe you’re actually terrible with women?”
“No, no way,” he insists, and turns to wrap his arms around her waist suddenly. She realizes though it seems he’s fine with it when HE’S the one instigating the touching, and she’s surprised by the fact that her heart pounds a little with his fancy cologne surrounding her.
Back to his usual cocky self he grins and offers to take her right here and now if she wants.
“Dream on, you gaudy sleaze,” she scoffs.
Still smirking he says he’s going to remember that - and he’s going to make her pay for that, plus the stuff she said to him earlier that day. It seems he’s back in fine tyrant form, she realizes.
He undoes one of the buttons on her blouse, and she’s reminded that she’s got a beast that doesn’t understand the first thing about hearts on her hands here. She’s flailing in disbelief that he was actually serious, and she says his name all alarmed.
She grabs his face to stop him  - only to find he’s immediately red again, looking flustered and uncomfortable, frozen in place again at the touch of her hands.
Tumblr media
She points out that if this is how it’s going to play out, she doesn’t think he has to force himself to threaten her (she’s clearly about ZERO PERCENT THREATENED hahaha)
He’s just grumpy scowling again. “Quiet - don’t you get the situation you’re in?”
“Yeah. I’m quite certain you can’t do anything more than undo that button,” she challenges, and he’s left to just stare at her wide eyed.
Tumblr media
“Bullseye, right?” she crows.
“It’s just that the mood’s been killed,” he blusters, shoving them apart.
He’d totally denied being bad with women, but she’s beginning to wonder - is THAT the reason he’s so dense when it comes to their hearts? He’s got a certain sensitivity that’s completely contrary to his outer appearance, and she realizes she might have accused him without understanding the whole picture. Clearly it’s a shitty thing what he did to those women that loved him but she can’t quit thinking about his whole mindset that ‘money solves everything’.
There must be some reason why he got that idea in the first place, she figures.
And without understanding the why, she regrets having said something like the fact that he would never be loved by anyone.
Silvio's moaning and groaning about how everything is The Worst and he needs a drink - and she offers that if so, she knows a good bar near here.
“You drink?” he asks, and she says she enjoys it somewhat, and he’s back to his usual arrogant grinning self as he tells her to come with him then. “It’s your fault I feel this crappy anyways.”
But she notices he’s put distance between them again, even though there’s not much room to escape each other ina small carriage no matter how much he seems he might want to. It’d be easy to write him off, just tell herself she’d never understand him…but she finds she doesn’t want to. And those sudden feelings confuse her a little.
Meanwhile, Silvio’s in his corner of the carriage grumbling that this wasn’t worth it - not even getting to see Rio’s expression will put this whole fiasco back in the black. (Sir plz just admit you're pissy beyond belief she's got the dirt on you now) But when she asks him what he’d said just now, he brushes it off as nothing and turns away without saying anything else.
Today was a rough day, but in the end she’s glad she got to know the real face of this man. And now that she knows the SQUEEEISHY UNDERBELLY OF SILVIO, that impression she’s always had that he’d be hard to get to know has begun to fade.
THE END (if you made it this far, bless you)
The Sweet Ending can be found here.
The AU epilogue can be found here.

Sharing 5 particular habits my muse has- cannibalism edition
Aka Lillian Ezra
Tagged by @arleccine (Thanks for the excuse to do this (: ))
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
1. Humming
Whenever Lillians busy or alone she hums to herself. It’s usually some very old nursery rhymes. Well if you consider “Lizzy Borden took an axe” or “old grandfather clock” a nursery rhyme.
Others are “London Bridge” and “Ring around a Rosie”.
Lillian enjoys humming and quietly singing to herself these rhymes when she *thinks* she is alone.
There’s been multiple occasions where someone walked into the schools library or onto the schools roof top and randomly hear a soft eerie hum. It’s worse when it’s Lizzy Borden.
Some people investigate and see it’s Lillian but some get so freaked out they don’t check and leave or even scream.
2. Being oblivious
When it comes to people flirting with Lillian she’s completely unaware. And since she’s a vampire girl stuck in a school with hormonal teen boys she gets flirted with more than she even realises (poor girl). She only realises this if someone points it out or hours after it happens she’ll randomly think on it
“…fuck was that flirting??…” then she’ll forget about.
This had also caused Lillian to accidentally come off as flirting when in reality she’s just being friendly or sometimes blunt with her responses.
Yes Laito teases her about this.
3. Gymnastics
Or being close to a contortionist.
Lillian is tall and slender which makes it no surprise that she is flexible. When I say flexible I mean , she’s practically has no limbs. Well she does , obviously, but she’s like a contortionist. Making easy for her to slide in and out of things.
Or using it to creep on her next victim and snatch them.
4. Speaking different languages.
A subject Lillian is passionate about is languages, it’s one of the subjects in school she can easily pick up on and loves it.
Her first language was obviously the demon language but English came in early too since her moms Scottish. Then for Scottish mother she leaves Gaelic then for her father , French.
Later on she learned Japanese but she’s also learning German.
When Lillian become aware that all the Sakamakis know nothing about Gaelic this aloud her to insult them in different language.
Lillian tried insulting Ayato in German once but was horrified when she a chuckle from Reiji.
Another time Lillian said “go fuck yourself” to Laito in French and he responded back in French “only if you help me~”.
That’s what made her stick to insulting them in Gaelic.
5. Liking anything to do with spiders.
Lillian loves spiders. She has a pet tarantula called Travis and if anything happened to him she’d kill everyone in her path then kill herself.
Lilliam collects other spider things like stockings with spider web designs, her phone case having a spider web on it. She purposely has long(and nice) nails to simulate a spider when she would run her hands up someone’s back like a spider to scare them. Wonder who’s a victim of that.
Tag: not sure if they’ve already been tagged or not @fruit-of-infidelity @kindan-no-kanojo and honestly anyone else who like to do this with their oc ^^

obviously i know of the wonderful real and true lesbian hermie but i would still like to hear ur thoughts on her :3
HIII :3 thank u for the excuse to explain because truly i feel so strongly abt this . here is my extensive reasons as to why hermie unworthy could never be anything but a lesbian and ur hcs are all wrong and this IS a personal attack on you btw <- thats a joke this post is very silly and not meant to be an Actual Theory but i DO feel strongly
lezzermie realness: a manifesto
REASON 1!!!!!!!!! again . WHAT WAS THE BEND IT LIKE BECKHAM THING ABOUT . and this isnt "actor character randomly dresses up as kiera knightley from bend it like beckham for no reason" which to be clear . would still make me raise my eyebrows . HOWEVER hermie isnt just any kind of actor shes a SPECIFICALLY DC ACTOR . she ONLY does dc characters . the ONE other time is when she's dressing up as scary for like a Real Reason . this is not a real reason its not even a musical or a play or smt its not even theatre kiddy . what are you trying to say hermie others will silence you but i will let you speak
REASON 2!!!!!!!!!!!!! further reasons will be predicated on the assumption that scary marlowe is a: a lesbian and b: that her crush on hermie is lesbianistic in nature . this can be proven simply w the line "im not like other girls i dont like ned or earl but when im with you my heart shatters or smt along those lines i cant be bothered to check verbatim" . abt hermie . oh so youre not into GENERIC MASCULINE NAMES like OTHER (STRAIGHT) GIRLS but hermie is different ...... this is successfully✅ proven . also she compared her and scary to the joker and harley ..... and scary STILL had a crush . i dont think anybody could tolerate that unless it was from a lesbian 🙏
REASON 3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! with this assumption presumed ....... now i know what you were thinking in reason one when i asserted hermie only broke dc those tow times . "val thats not true he was jack on the titanic" . to that i say YES ...... she did an overdramatic romantic scene riffing on an iconic straight couple from a historical movie with (as we have 100% proven) a lesbian w a dykey ass crush on her . whats more lesbian than that . thats the butchfemmiest shit
REASON 4!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i hear you cry from the crowds . but valentine ur MISSING something . ur WRONG . because NORMAL!!!!!!!! to which i say normal is so obviously a girl to everyone but herself lets be real . the eldritch beast she has this deep connection with and empathizes with immediately is fixated on being a bad girl? she has a whole arc where she tries to be a normal son and boy to appeal to her parent who doesnt approve of how she chooses to express herself and picks a masculine name to go w it in contrast to . um . i mean i guess an adjective is gender neutral??????? hermies a lesbian FOR normal not DESPITE normal ......... also lesbians can be mlm and have complex genders too . me for example . bigender swag which hermie absolutely has
REASON 5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! if we assume normal's arc is transgender THEN we must observe the parallels with hermie and come to the same conclusion of girlmie (or boygirlmie but bigendermie is a convo for another day) realness . both created to be a specific type of son (normal well Normal, hermie a joke machine) both Not Quite Right in a way they cant shake both reaching out for a new more fitting identity which in hermie's case EXPLICITLY includes gender nonconformity (we will discuss next bulletpoint) . and if we prove girlmie by way of her crush on scary (and as previously stated normal) we prove lezzermie
REASON 6!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! dressing up as poison ivy isnt necessarily lesbianistic because she dresses up as other dc villains HOWEVER!!!!!! i will argue that the way she goes about it is uniquely suggesting of dykery . a: she flirts with normal .... THROUGH poison ivy . distinctly RELATED to poison ivy . this is lesbian behavior and reinforces my prior point and b: she REPEATS poison ivy ...... which she rarely does with others she goes through Eras with the rest of them but abandons them after HOWEVER!!!!! she does poison ivy sexy and gets sort of interrupted . THEN does batman in the spiderboyz intro . THEN goes back to poison ivy in hell........ why does she only repeat the known lesbian 🤨
REASON 7!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HERMIE unworthy ... HER MIE .... like her and me ...... instead of her man (heterosexual in nature) she chooses herMIE . normal holds her face and goes YOURE HERMIE (her x me) . think about it guys . think about it ........
ok anyway thats enough of my ramblings . this post is very silly if u cant tell but i am a #believer

in the teru model au, do they ever actually get together or does teru just keep joking about akane being his boyfriend while theyre both thinking "man, i wish he actually was"
on a mainly unrelated note, how long does it take akane to actually fall for teru?
(and having recently read the most recent post for the au--how do people at the school react to akane supposedly dating such a beloved model?)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Model/Fake Catfish AU: Part 1 )
So much love for this AU! Alright, here is a bit more on it!
Akane woke up to many messages from Lemon with varying levels of amusement and concern, which was enough to check the 2 links his friend left for him: One was a popular post comparing Akane walking out of the agency in his disguise and overpacked schoolbag to him walking out of school with the same schoolbag (the pic seemed to be from yesterday) which was weird, but not enough to affect him. The second link took him to a Twitter thread from a girl he recognized as a classmate he had rejected last year’s Valentine. There wasn’t any sensible info, thankfully, but it had way too many pictures, some with his reading glasses, some with the large scarf, his body language when he laughed or looked down on someone identical to the ‘mysterious lover’.
Akane is usually pretty apathetic to strangers’ opinions of him, but this was so much attention, even he got a bit uneased, taking his baseball bat to school in case people tried something.
Akane was mostly stared at, his eye twitched every time there is a camera flash. A glare and a tight grip on his bat usually keep the curious onlookers at bay, but his classmates ask questions. Many people seem bothered when Akane insisted he and Teru are just friends, but there are also plenty that are delighted by his claims, asking for Teru’s phone number and getting a bat in the face. Attention follows him all the way to his class, he gets waaaaay too many people 'subtly' asking what is Teru's type and "do you think I have a chance?", to the point the teacher has to stop class to give the whole class a lecture. Lemon gives him a pitying look.
Akane doesn't attack the girl that made the tread exposing him as Teru's 'mysterious guy' but he glares at her with enough murder in his eyes for her to avoid him like the plague.
He calls Teru to vent about the bullshit he’s dealing with, needing to lock himself in the bathroom for privacy.
Teru sounds more troubled than Akane by the situation, his apology is genuine. He suggests meeting up with the agency to decide what to do, not wanting the public curiosity and reveal excitement to turn into animosity by a silly mistake: Akane isn't the best at caving under public attention and creating an ideal persona after all.
The agency can't find an alternative that will make Akane suddenly drop out of everyone's radar but Aoi, one of the cutest models and the manager's daughter, proposed fake dating "Minamoto's fans tend to be very forgiving, but it’s still better if you don’t do anything harsh while this is a hot topic, fans never handle making wrong assumptions well, so backlash will be inevitable if you admit this romance isn't real. Once the hype die, there can be a break up. Just think about it, this facade wouldn't be drastic, your friendship already seems believable for a 'reserved relationship', so you two can keep acting as always. All you'll need is to make a public anouncement and take a couple photos. We will pay you for the photos, of course, Aoi-san."
Everyone could tell this decision would benefit the agency too: While not common, fake dating isn't particularly rare, Aoi and Teru almost did it when the company wasn't that high on sales, so the only one that was surprised and nearly choked at the proposal was Akane.
Akane considers Teru one of his only friends, and while Teru is undeniably hot, he doesn't know how to feel about selling the label of 'boyfriend' as something that shouldn't be taken as a silly inside joke. Akane has some reservations at first, but he accepts after some thought, trusting the agency to know how this worked more than him and not against the idea of helping everyone in the room in exchange for what? A few photos?? As long as they don't have to put on a  PDA show, it's cool, he can hold Teru's hand for a couple photos, is not the end of the world. He also isn't against getting extra cash.
Akane and Teru go to the side to discuss it themselves. It feels more like one of their typical arguments/teasing banters than a proper discussion for 90% of it but they end up agreeing with the deal only if Akane's contract with the agency is very loose and relatively short term.
Sakura gave Teru an exasperated and knowing look at his insistence to keep Akane out of most photos.
Teru is reassured his terms are good, so he try to focus only on the potential inside jokes they can have from this situation, lest he'll feel like he's taking advantage of Akane.
The next day Akane still can't get to his class without being bombarded by questions. Someone even tried to steal his phone to find Teru's number, but people understood pretty quickly that getting close will get you a bat in the face. Akane ain't taking any chances.
When breaks come, he chats with Lemon on the fire escape stairs, where people won't bother him. Lemon can only stare when Akane spills the tea that he and Teru will fake date, and that he will be a part-time model.
It's bizarre to watch his attempt to give Akane a tinder date somehow devolve into Akane going through every romance cliché troupe in existence.

List anon <3
Finally got around to reading Tams chapter 3 so heres that.
I didnt send in a thing for chapter 2 (i cant remember why) but I think I like Lihua. Unless you want to kill her or something in that case i hate her and am determined to not grow attached.
You also might just have the perspective abandon her. But I think Id be able to cope with that.
Not necessarily something that just now occured to me but just something that my mind prompted, I like how in this Zuko is immediately taught that he was like very sheltered. And how theres this big population of people who dont have a choice but to make bad decisions just so themselves and their families to survive.
Yeah I like her. Please dont kill her Im begging you
If you dont kill her ill ko fi you like 4 dollars (pounds??? i dont feel like adjusting my terminology right now)
idk if you remember but a few months ago you were complaining that you were really sick or something and you got an ask saying that they tried to send you i think 2 dollars if you would go to the e.r but their ko fi wasnt working. That was me and i got my ko fi to work and i am NOT above bribing you. Just saying.
Lihua reminds me of a delinquet Jin.
Azulas being imprisoned. That is DEFINETLY probably not going to lead to anything interestgin
Well theres Zhao
Well she was recognized
God shes so smart I love her so much shes figurively playing dumbass Zhao like a fiddle.
"The only reason she had for leaving it was because she knew that Zuko knew she wouldn’t leave it unless something awful had happened. This was a message. People were behind this, and that could only mean one thing." Taob parrelel thing?? Like when Zuko left one of his swords for Hakoda. Not sure if this was intentional or not but its a nice touch.
"Azula had figured out a plan before Zhao had even left her cell" Of course she had. Shes amazing i love her.
Is her Fire bending still orange????? Nice
I like how Azula still resents Ursa
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SOKKA AND KATARA YES I AM SO HAPPY ABOUT THIS
I think its funny that Zuko thinks Sokkas judging him because of his scar (which theres a small possiblity he doesnt know the symbolism for, I dont know i havent read that far yet) and not judging him because hes a firebender like he just exclaimed like dude OBVIOUSLY they are a tad bit distraught by firebending and bros just like "nah its because of my scar.
okay now hes catching on
Zukos so confused right now
Hes got a lot to take in take your time pal
"“Actually,” Zuko frowned, “I wasn’t talking to you.” He turned to Azula. “Well?”" Zukos attitude towards Sokka is so funny. "Its not like zukos going to be intimidated by a whelp like him", Stfu Zuko you were just unsettled by his stare like three paragraphs ago. You have a specific post I keep seeing on pinterest, (and i saw it on facebook one time, that was surreal,) (im pretty sure its you) its the one where its like enemy to lover fics are so funny because the tags are right there or something along those lines. This is giving those vibes. Like he might be unsettled by Sokka now but just wait like 15 chapters when hes REALLY going to be unsettled by him but this time the unsettledness is gay panic so.
I completely forgot about Iroh. Whats he up to nowadays?
"“Besides, Zuko just took out like ten soldiers by himself. I'm sticking with him until we get out of here.”" Im taking this as flirting you cant change my mind.
Wait is this fic even Zukka? *checks* yes it is, okay.
So Sokka is flirting, what next?
Now Azulas pov is acknowedging the difference between the real world and the palace, nice.
I cant remember if this was acknowledged in one of the other chapters or not. If so, oh well.
sOKKA Quit staring at him you dumb gay
Look at Sokka flirting. "Your not what I was expecting" Might as well tell him hes not like the other girls also you werent expecting a hot and mysterious twink in a fire nation strong hold? Be a lot weirder if he was expecting that tbh.
I like how hes asking Aangs consent to put him in a fake hostage situation.
"I'd be honored hotman" See Sokka, even aang will acknowledge that hes hot.
Aw shit Lihua might die
Okay Im done reading it.
This was such a good chapter. I loved it so much, your doing amazing.
I cant put into words how excited I am for the rest of this series.
I mentioned in one of the taob asks that Im really picky about how people write Azula, and Ive already talked about how much i love how you write Zuko, so its Azulas turn now.
First of all (of the stuff I read anyways) Azulas pov arent written enough.
And the ones there are its even more rare that she actually has like,,, a personality???
like Shes always so robotic and uncomplex in some fics and I cant put into words how refreshing it is to get a change in that. Like this is the first fic ive ever read that I dont absolutely dread Azula povs.
(I feel the need to say whenever I compare taob to other fics in these I'm never intending to put the other authors down, im just stating the differences in my specific preferences. Like im all for writers doing what they want in their fics, but the way you write align so well with what i like to read its uncanny sometimes)
Azula is such a difficult character, and you write her so well. Youre phenomenal, I love it.
Like shes by far my favorite thing about this so far.
I love her and Zukos dedication and codependancy. And also how well they ended up being able to read each other and how well they flow with each other. Its so different from their cannon relationship.
I think they should have let you write the comics.
Isnt there a new Azula comic coming out soon??????????/ They should let you write it. Your amazing with her.
You capture the complexity of their relationship so well, and like acknowledging how strained and toxic they were at the palace vs now, its so good, I love it so much.
My second favorite thing about tams, like i mentioned, is all of Sokka and Zukos interactions. They were so funny and honestly had me cackling.
I liked the whole 'Azula and Sokka are similar and so are Katara and Zuko' thing, because its true. I've always seen them as sort of parallels of each other. Its nice to see this acknowledged.
I saw that you answered some of my other ask things recently and the one where I was responding to what I think was the last chapter of Taob had me laughing because I had no idea it was that long when I sent it in. Sorry for making you read all that.
I have a process for writing these and a part of it is that I usually write it in a doc first and then copy and paste it into the ask thing and then read through it to make sure it makes sense. And sometimes when im rereading it Ill add a lot of stuff and I didnt realize how much I added with that particular ask.
I saw it and I just kept scrolling and scrolling and it was really funny to me.
I usually take screenshots when you answer them so i can remember what i have or havent talked about and that specific ask is like 14 screenshots of just the stuff I sent.
And im doing that again with this one.
Anywho im responding to some of your comments on my asks because i can.
"No you didnt send me an ask off anon but I wish you would"
never. I would rather die.
the whole your economics degree makes you feel stupid thing. theres a really popular saying thats like 'if you try to teach a fish to climb a tree it will spend its whole life thinking its stupid' or something like that. that part of your response reminded me of that.
"I want to know what your talking about with the kind thing"
Again, never. Absolutely not.
Theres another part i wanted to respond to but i cant remember now so oh well.
I know i always say that im not sure if these make sense but i actually mean it this time because im really tired. so have fun interpreting this.
OMG LIST ANON HI HI HI HOW ARE YOU <33333
i also love lihua it's kinda funny how many people were suspicious of her initially bc i genuinely dont know WHY idk if it's bc people just dont trust me or we're all overly cynical but i was getting comments and asks like 'i dont trust lihua' and im here like WHY THAT'S MY BABYGIRL
bribe me. do it. (no really dont i cant believe u tried to send me money just to take care of myself 😭)
as for the taob parallel thing, that wasn't on purpose! i really cant see myself putting ANY taob references in tams just bc i want them to be separate like i dont want all of my atla works from now on to be compared to taob bc that's. not gonna end well for me LMAO
"You have a specific post I keep seeing on pinterest, (and i saw it on facebook one time, that was surreal,) (im pretty sure its you) its the one where its like enemy to lover" NOOOOOOOOOO
i love how season 1 sokka's justification for very baltantly flirting with the firebender is literally to he's not like other girlsify him. sound logic there king
"like Shes always so robotic and uncomplex in some fics and I cant put into words how refreshing it is to get a change in that. Like this is the first fic ive ever read that I dont absolutely dread Azula povs." GOD TIER COMPLIMENT IM KISSING YOU RN i love love LOVE tams azula like i love her as a character i love writing her i love how it tests me a bit just love love love her and seeing how well she's been received in general has been such a pleasant surprise <3 do not even MENTION comic azula to me im so sad for her
"Sorry for making you read all that." please never apologise for these asks they make me very happy :)
"if you try to teach a fish to climb a tree it will spend its whole life thinking its stupid' or something like that." that's actually very fitting, thank you <3
get some sleep!!!!
thank you for this ask as always my love my light my cutie patootie xx

Chapter 2 << New Journey Masterlist >> Chapter 4
Tumblr media
After the shock that occurred you yesterday, you decided that it'd be best to prepare for the 'demogorgon' the next time you looked for Will. Oh yeah, you're all going out again in the dark to search for Will. You tried to stop them, telling them it's not safe and worse things could happen, but none of them were listening to you. They were in desperate need to find their friend so to keep them in check you were going to be part of their little search group.
Last night you and Dustin were preparing your bags with everything you could find useful. His was mostly (if not all) filled with snacks while your bag mainly contained weapons and supplies. Nothing too much. Two pocketknives for you and your brother, some medical supplies and the walkies.
You hated the idea of going out there when some creature was lingering in the woods, but you would feel better if you were prepared for anything.
You considered the idea of speaking to Jonathan about this, you haven't seen him since last morning, but you didn't want to give him any false hope. And you didn't even know how you would back up your theory 'Oh, some girl we found in the woods told us'. No. You had to find evidence first before making the case more bizarre.
Before you went to school, you, Dustin and Lucas stopped by Mike's to form a plan for the evening. You exchanged pleasantries with his parents and then went to the basement. You saw Eleven playing with Mike's walkie talkie.
"Okay, so, I believe the best excuse to say to our parents is that we have AV Club after school. Y/n, you..." Mike started speaking and looked towards you for your excuse.
"I have a night shift tonight, so I have time to spare till then." you didn't really feel like going to work, but you didn't want to use Mr. Miller's kindness again for your advantage.
"Great, that's give us at least a few hours for Operation Mirkwood."
"You seriously think this w- she knows where Will is?" Lucas changed his words quickly, knowing you told tolerate the word 'weirdo' anymore, even though you're a bit spooked by her.
"Just trust me on this, okay?" Mike asked and Lucas agreed "Did you get the supplies?"
"Yeah. Binoculars… from ‘Nam. Army knife… also from ‘Nam. Hammer, camouflage bandana… and the wrist rocket." he described the stuff while taking them out of his bag, showing them to the rest of you.
"You’re gonna take out the Demogorgon with a slingshot?" your brother asked not impressed with his choice of weapon.
"First of all, it’s a wrist rocket. And second of all, the Demogorgon’s not real. It’s made up. But if there is something out there, I’m gonna shoot it in the eye…" he slings the wrist rocket towards Dustin and he flinches at the movement " And blind it."
You shook your head at them and Mike sighed "What did you, guys, bring?"
"Well, I brought our walkies, two pocketknives and some medical stuff, just to be prepared, and Dustin..." your words dragged as you saw your brother dump all of his snacks on top of the table.
"Alrighty. So, we’ve got… Nutty Bars, Bazooka, Pez, Smarties, Pringles, Nilla Wafers, apple, banana, and trail mix." he went through all of the bags then looked up to his friends proudly.
"Seriously?"
"We need energy for our travels. For stamina. And besides, why do we even need weapons anyway? We have her." he answered Lucas and pointed at the girl. Eleven was still looking at the walkie not taking her eyes away from it.
"She shut one door!" Lucas said exaggerated.
"With her mind! Are you kidding me? That’s insane! Imagine all the other cool stuff she could do. Like…" he stopped him words and took on his hands the Millennium Falcon Lego Mike had build "I bet... that she could make this fly!" he stopped in front of Eleven and held out the toy towards her face, her eyes finally leaving the walkie talkie "Hey. Hey. Okay, concentrate. Okay?" he says before letting it go, but without any help from Eleven, it fell to the ground "Okay, one more time." again gravity does its thing "Okay. Use your powers, okay?" but for the third time the same thing happens and Eleven goes back to the walkie on her hands.
"Idiot." Lucas said and you smirked before playing with your brother's hat and bringing him into your hug, his back on your stomach.
"She's not a dog!" Mike yelled after he picked up the toy from the ground, when suddenly his mother called out.
" Guys! Time for school!"
"Okay, pack your shit. We're meeting here after school." you said as you grabbed your bag and climbed up the stairs.
You saw Dustin and Lucas follow you outside, only Mike staying in the basement to explain what time they would return to Eleven. After a couple minutes you started riding to your schools. You were pretty anxious about going today. You wanted to see if Jonathan would be there and also you wanted to apologize to Nancy. You were immature talking to her like that. You still didn't agree with her words and excuse, but it wasn't the time to speak to her about that. You truly hoped she had a nice time.
When you arrived at Hawkins High you didn't see your friend's car. He must still not be ready to stay here. You made a mental note to check on him the moment you had some time to yourself.
You took a deep breath knowing that since Jonathan wasn't here you couldn't avoid talking to Nance any longer. You passed the familiar faces of your classmates when you finally arrived at your locker. Nancy was there, but she wasn't alone.
Steve Harrington was next to her, blocking the way to your locker with his body. You didn't feel like fighting with anyone today, so you slowly walked over to the two of them.
You could hear them talk to each other, but you didn't understand what they were saying. You took your final step behind Steve as they were kissing and you cursed the universe for this awkward part.
"Um.. Steve? You're kinda blocking my locker..." you said just loud enough for the two to hear. Startled by your voice they both turned to look at you, Nancy's eyes falling on the ground the moment you looked at her.
"Oh, sorry." he immediately moved to the side, his hand holding onto Nancy's.
"Thank you." you replied under your breath, but he was still able to catch it.
"Did you just thank me, Henderson?" he was smirking at the thought of you having nice manners towards him. He may not admit it, but you were always an interesting person to him. Your quiet, but also bold personality always made him entertained.
"Don't get too used to it." your back was facing him as you opened your locker getting everything you needed.
"Well, after this exciting development, I think I need to go to the others. Don't worry too much, okay?" he said to Nancy, before she replied with a soft 'okay'. He leaned towards her placing a kiss on her cheek and left you two alone.
Your eyes fell on your friend's face. She was already looking back at you and you gave her a shy smile as you closed your locker, turning your body to face her completely.
"Hey..."
"Hey." she said.
"Look, um... I'm sorry. I shouldn't have blown off at you yesterday. These have just been some very stressful days and-" you started apologizing when her voice stopped you.
"Y/n, it's okay. I know that I shouldn't have used Will's name like that. I'm sorry too. Thank you for putting some sense into me."
"So, we're okay?" you smiled at your friend.
"Yeah, of course we're okay." you smiled at each other "Is that why you were nice to Steve?"
"I thought not being shitty for once would make you feel like I'm really sorry and that I'm willing to give him a chance." you explained your thoughts
"Well, you definitely achieved that."
"So, what exactly happened yesterday? I heard you two talk and you looked quite worried. He wasn't an asshole, right? If so, I'm taking back my effort of being nice."
"No, no, it's not him. Yesterday was... a big day. It's just that- I can't find Barb today, did you see her somewhere?" you thought the conversation was heading to some more explicit parts, definitely not to your other friend and it made you skeptical.
"Barbara? Um, no, no, I haven't seen her.." the bell rang and you both started walking to your classroom. You glanced at Nancy and her face was as worried as you had first seen her "She left before you yesterday?"
"Yes."
"So, I'm sure she woke up early in the morning and already is at her desk." you reassured her but as you entered the class, no Barbara was found. You looked at each other and you shrugged "I'm sure she's okay, Nancy. She probably didn't feel like going to school today."
"I just can't stop picturing every bad scenario that could happen to her. Now with Will gone, I'm scared the same thing has happened."
You didn't answer her as you took your seats. You couldn't. Maybe she was right. Maybe something bad has happened to her. Now that you know more about Will's disappearance, that some 'thing' is out there, your anxiety started acting up, your own mind creating those scenarios.
If you didn't find her by the end of the day, this evening you would have to keep your eyes out for one more person.
___
The rest of the day was normal. You tried to calm yourself down during class, telling yourself that panic will do you no good for your plan.
After some boring and far too long classes it was finally time for lunch, but as it turns out you couldn't even relax there.
"Nancy, I'm not going to sit with dumb and dumber." you were putting some food on your trays as you talked, hundreds of voices around you filling the cafeteria room.
"You said you were gonna be nicer to Steve."
"To Steve, yes, but not his 'friends'." you warned her.
"Jonathan isn't here and you don't like eating by yourself. I also want to ask them about Barbara. Come on." she simply explained and smiled at you before you headed at the 'King's' table. Carol had her whole leg on the table showing the boys something and Tommy was loudly laughing every now and then. You could already tell it wasn't gonna end well...
"No, I swear. Look at this. It's totally frostbite." Carol said as Nancy sat next to Steve and you took your seat next to her reluctantly.
"It's a heated pool." Tommy said, after he took a bite of his food. He saw you sitting down and eyed you carefully. You didn't give him an answer and just looked down at your own food, trying not to stare at Carol's bruise. It made your stomach turn and you already didn't have that much of an appetite.
"Well, if it’s not frostbite, then what is it?" she asked.
"Ugh, I don’t care what it is, it’s disgusting! Get it off the table. We’re eating here." Steve said annoyed, his mouth half full of food.
"Yes, please." you mumbled.
"I'm sorry, is my foot bothering you?" Carol asked you, acknowledging your existence with a frown on her face. You wanted to slap it so much but resisted your urges.
"Yeah, actually it is." a humorous smile on your face.
"Why are you here, anyway?" her gaze was intimidating, but you just ignored her and took a bite from your food. After a moment of silence and chuckles from Tommy, Nancy's voice filled your ears.
"Hey, Tommy. Yesterday, when you left, did you see Barb?"
"What?" his dumb face asked.
"Barbara. She's not here today." Nancy explained and you could tell talking about her made her nerves perk up. You don't know if any of you could handle another disappearance. But for now you told hold of the hand she had under the table to reassure her.
"I seriously have no idea who you’re talking about." he chuckled along side Carol.
"My God..." you sighed. If he didn't stop acting like a kid, you would slap him right here and now.
"Come on, don’t be an ass, man. Did you- Did you see her leave last night or not?" Steve came to the rescue and you could hardly believe your eyes. Maybe he wasn't as bad after all...
"No, she was gone when we left." he finally answered.
"Probably couldn’t stand listening to all that moaning." Carol couldn't hold her childish behavior for more than two minutes as she started moaning and calling out Steve's name, imitating Nancy from last night. Tommy picked up on the teasing and also started moaning even louder, banging his hands on the table. Nancy couldn't look away from her plate embarrassed, Steve looked annoyed but also proud and you looked at the two making the noises with shock in your eyes.
"Okay, chill." the King demanded and the two stopped their performance.
"Oh, relax. It was the only way for Y/n to hear any kind of moaning."
"Nah, I'm sure she's getting it on with the freak Byers." Tommy corrected Carol and they laughed in your face. Your blood was boiling, but you calmed down your breathing, not falling on their level.
As they were laughing you eyes fell on a figure that was passing the corridor outside of the cafeteria. It was Jonathan. You hated feeding the demonic couple on their absurd story, but you needed to check on Jonathan.
"He's my cue to leave." you pointed at Jonathan to Nancy and picked up your stuff and tray to leave. She tried to hold you down, but you gave her a look and she knew you needed to leave. Meanwhile, Carol laughing even more now that she has managed to 'upset' you. You couldn't let her win. You had to do something.
"Oh, before I leave, I need to give you something, Carol." you turned to look at her with the fakest sweet smile you could pull off. She was staring at you with the most unimpressed glare that soon turned into a shocked one.
You grabbed the pudding you had taken for dessert and dumped it on her pants. Her mouth opened and gave you a hateful look "For you frostbite." you turned to leave quickly, a grin on your face. You winked at Nancy, who was slightly smirking and made your way to the garbage can to throw out the rest of your food.
"You bitch!" you heard Carol squeal. You gave her a smile as you left the cafeteria. She was trying to get the stain out, making Tommy go fetch her some more napkins. Steve was preoccupied talking to Nancy, but you were pretty sure you had seen him smile a little too.
You chuckled while you walked outside on her corridor, jogging to catch up with Jonathan.
"Hey, Jonathan! Did you see that? Oh, Carol's face was priceless..." you smiled faded as you caught glimpse of Jonathan's face "Are-are you okay?" you placed your hand on his shoulder and looked him in the eye.
"It's-it's fine. You know... the usual." you could see something else was bothering him as well, but you just let it go. He'd talk to you when he was ready.
"Okay... Do you want to go somewhere to clear our heads? My treat." you smiled and waited for his answer.
"I-I was actually heading to the darkroom to develop some of the photos I have taken-" he explained and you grabbed his arm as you began walking again.
"Cool, I'll come with. You know I love your photographs."
"Uh... Don't you want to go back to the cafeteria? I don't want to keep you away from lunch time." he stopped walking and pointed back at the way you came from.
"Please, if I go back, Carol with rip my eyes out." you eyed your friend and your brows furrowed "Do you not want me to come with you?" you crossed your arms in front of your chest.
"No, no, it's just..." he played with his hair, something he did when he was nervous and you became very suspicious.
"Jonathan, what's going on?"
He sighed and looked around before taking your hand in his "Okay, I'll show you, but don't freak out, please."
You didn't answer, just followed him to the darkroom. He started developing the pictures, hanging them to dry. In the meantime, he was explaining what he did last night.
"So, yesterday I went out to look for Will and I had my camera with me. I tried to call you, but your mom said you were working and the diner said you didn't come in-"
"Yeah, sorry, I was with the party... They have been dealing with this thing pretty terribly, so I wanted to stay with them." you didn't like lying to him, but it had to stay that way until you knew more about Will's location.
"Yes, yes, of course. So, I was walking around the forest and I stumbled upon-" he began explaining but you stopped him.
"Is that Nancy? And-and Barbara? And Steve?" some of the photos were starting to show and it didn't take long for you to understand who the faces were "Jonathan what is this?" you pointed at the pictures looking him in the eye.
"I-I just came across their party and-"
"And you decided to take pictures of them? Jonathan, I don't want to sound mean, but.. This is kinda creepy." you looked at the rest of them.
"Don't think about it like that. I just- captured the moment." he said quietly.
"And you thought it'd okay to 'capture' this moment as well?" you pointed at the picture showing Nancy's bare back in what you guessed was Steve's room.
But before Jonathan could answer, a girl, Nicole, walked inside the room. You immediately panicked and tried to hide the photos, fearing for her reaction. She places herself next to Jonathan and sent you both a smile, but it faded quickly as her eyes left you and wandered at the photos you and Jonathan had on your hands.
He took them from you and placed them inside his bag leaving the room without a second thought after he took your hand and made you follow him.
"You think she saw?" you thought out loud. You had entered an empty classroom wanting to talk with no other disruptions. Your back was leaning on the door while Jonathan was sitting on top of the teacher's desk, clanging onto his bag.
"Maybe- I- I don't know. I don't care." he stood up walking back and forth.
"Jonathan, if she tells someone, maybe- I mean, how can you not care?" your eyes pleaded for an explanation.
"Cause I have bigger problems to deal with!" he yelled at you, his nerves taking the best of him
"Yeah, exactly. You don't also need another problem, like a smashed car, when- not if- when Steve finds out about this!" you yelled back, rummaging through his bag, showing him the photo of Nancy he had taken.
He stared at the photo, before sighing and rubbing his forehead "I'm sorry..."
"Look... Let's just hope she didn't understand what she actually saw. Maybe she won't tell someone and we're worrying about nothing." you comforted him.
After some time you ended up talking about the rest of his night. He hadn't found anything about where Will might be and it made him lose even more hope. Then he told you about how his mother had acted this morning, fearing for her health and sanity. You wanted to share everything you knew, but you had to wait. Eventually the bell rang and you had to go back to your classes.
___
The moment you stepped out of the school next to Jonathan at the end of the day, you could actually feel a weigh leave your shoulders, but your anxiety was still present. You just wanted to get on your bike, find the kids and go look for Will. You couldn't wait any longer. But, of course, the universe couldn't leave you alone for more than an hour.
You had left Jonathan for a bit to go and grab your bike. You couldn't convince him letting you return home by yourself, so you were on your way of walking towards the parking lot, bike in hand, looking for your friend. Only to find him once again in trouble.
"And here comes the partner in crime." Tommy said as you stopped. You looked around at mess that had created. Steve, Tommy, Carol and the girl from the darkroom, Nicole, were standing opposite of Jonathan, his bag on their hands as well as the photos.
"Shit..." you said under your breath looking over at Jonathan, fear evident in his eyes and you guessed yours as well.
"You told him what we were doing, right? Nancy told you and you got jealous or some shit and thought I'd be fun, right?" Carol's words made you furious.
"You don't know what you're talking about."
"No, I think we have all the evidence we need to figure things out." she said giving you a shove on the shoulders, making your body fall backwards, hit your bike and lose its balance. It hurt landing on top of your bike, but you didn't want to show any sign of discomfort right now.
"Hey, why did you do that?" a voice started nearing you and you looked up to see Nancy coming to help you back on your feet. She took your arm, trying to lift you up, but you just stared at her. You didn't want her to think you had anything to do with this. You feared for her reaction, because nothing about this made you or Jonathan look nice and you knew that.
"Here's the starring lady." Tommy said sarcastically.
"What?" she looked back down at you, asking you what's going on, but Steve beat you to it.
"You might want to leave their side." he said coldly, his eyes looking like stone.
"No, what- what's going on? Why did you push Y/n on the ground?" Nancy was now walking towards Carol, looking angry.
"I'm not the one you should be mad at." she handed her the pictures she was holding "These creeps were spying on us last night. I don't even want to imagine what those two would want to do with this one." you could tell she was talking about the photo of Nancy naked. You were still on the ground, your palms taking in the weight of your head as you sighed. This can't be happening right now...
"See, you can tell that they know it was wrong, but... Man, that's the thing about perverts..." Steve started talking and walking towards Jonathan, who stood next to you.
"Stop it..." you pleaded quietly. You began picking yourself up, hating all the looks on you, especially Nancy's.
"It's hardwired into 'em. You know, they can't help themselves." Steve finished his sentence, as he 'nicely' fixed up Jonathan's collar, before tearing the photos he was holding. He sent you a look and it was the first time you've ever felt inferior towards him. You didn't know why, but he looked disappointed in you and you wanted to make it better "So... We'll just have to take away his toy." he said and walked back to Jonathan's bag and panic arose into your friend.
"Steve..." it was the first time Nancy had spoken after she saw everything and you were more than glad to hear her kind of supporting you.
"No, please, not the camera." Jonathan tried to step in, but Tommy stopped him, while Carol walked up a bit opposite of you as a warning.
"No, no, wait, wait... Tommy, Tommy." Steve told his friend to back off. Tommy did as he was told, chuckling and his friend stepped towards Jonathan handing him the camera "It’s okay. Here you go, man."
But before Jonathan could raise his arm, Steve let it fall on the ground, the sound of glass breaking making you flinch. You knew how important this camera was to Jonathan and how much it cost him to buy it. Now it was useless.
"Come on, let’s go. The game’s about to start." the king announced and left you two to deal with the mess yourselves.
"Boo." Tommy told you as a joke as he walked off.
Carol approached you along side Nicole as she ripped in half the rest of the photos "Bye."
You stared down at them exhausted, Jonathan still starring at the broken camera. You knelt down and started picking them up. You heard Steve call out for Nancy in the distance, only now realising she was still there with you. You looked up to see her take some pieces of the teared photos on her hands. She looked at you quickly and you found your chance to speak "Nancy, this isn't what it looks like-" she was gone before you could finish.
___
The only thing that made you feel a bit at ease is that you wouldn't be late at your meeting, even after this mess. You had a class less than the kids today, so you had plenty of time to pick up the pieces of the photographs and the camera. You didn't talk much as Jonathan drove you to your house. You didn't know what to say or what to do. You just wanted to forget that it had happened at all. You took your bike out of his trunk and said a simple goodbye as you watched him drive away.
You took a deep breath and made your way at the back of Mike's house, where Eleven was already waiting for you all. You were a bit early. You had hoped to have some time to yourself to calm down your thoughts, but you guessed it'd be best to distract yourself from thinking anything for a moment than thinking about everything all at once.
As you came closer you saw that Eleven wasn't moving, she looked as if she was frozen in time and it worried you. You parked your bike on the fence and slowly walked up to her "Eleven?" she didn't respond. You touched her shoulder and that's when she snapped out of whatever trance she was on. She looked around her eyes falling on you "Hey, it's okay. You're okay." she just kept looking at you. She looked scared. This was the first time she had allowed you to be this close to her. You could tell she needed the support and you were ready to give it to her. But someone interrupted your moment.
"You guys okay?" you turned to see the kids on top of their bikes looking at you. Mike was closer to the two of you as he asked you the question.
You took a last glance at Eleven who was nodding at Mike "Yeah, everything's okay."
"Okay, come on, hop on." Mike patted his saddle waiting for El to sit down. You could see her being a bit hesitant, but you encouraged her a little giving her a pat on the back. You motioned for them to start heading for the forest and you'll follow along in a bit.
You placed your body on top of your bike and started riding behind them after a couple minutes. Dustin was riding a bit slower than the rest making you grin "You didn't have to wait for me. I can catch up to you all easily."
"Are you okay?" he asked you genuinely. You both hated and loved the fact that he can so easily tell when you're not fine.
"You don't have to worry about me, Dusty. We have to focus on the plan, okay?" you smiled at him and he did the same as you continued riding towards the forest.
___
You've been searching for a couple hours now and the day has started turning dark. You, Dustin and Lucas have been following behind Mike and Eleven and you all have began feeling less hopeful about this whole thing. It felt like you were heading nowhere and when you eventually found your destination, it felt like every strength you had had left your body.
"What are we doing here?" Lucas asked Mike, after letting his bike fall to the ground. You looked at the house realising you spent these past few hours heading to the one house you didn't even need to search. The Byers residence.
"She said he's hiding here?" Mike said just as confused as all of you looked.
"What?" you asked, leaning onto your bike, your legs killing you.
"Um... no!" Lucas said annoyed.
"I swear, if we walked all the way out here for nothing-" your brother spoke up, before Lucas interrupted him.
"That’s exactly what we did. I told you she didn’t know what the hell she was talking about!"
"She must have a reason to bring us here!" you stepped in as you saw Eleven looking a bit lost "Eleven, why are we here?" you asked calmly, but she didn't know how to respond.
"Eleven?" Mike spoke up trying to get her to talk, but the girl just started stammering
"Don't waste your time with her." Lucas' words sounded angrier and angrier by the second and it started irritated those around him, especially Mike.
"What do you want to do then?"
"Call the cops, like we should have done yesterday." Lucas said, none of you noticing Dustin walking further away from the group.
"We are not calling the cops!" Mike protested.
"No, not the cops." you said, your thoughts recalling a memory.
"What?" Lucas looked at you as if you were crazy.
"We need to talk to the Byers... Jonathan told me something today about his mother and I think that maybe it-"
"Guys!" Dustin's voice stopped you. You all turned to look at him and immediately picked up on what he was referring to.
Sirens. Police cars. Red and blue lights filling the darkness. An ambulance following behind.
"Will..." Mike expressed all of your thoughts.
Your heart was stuck in your throat as you started following behind the commotion. You feared for the worst and hoped for the best.
You end up at the quarry. So many police cars in sight. As well as fire trucks and the ambulance... You didn't have much more hope now. You all hid behind a firetruck and watched in silence as police men were taking a body out of the lake.
"No, it's not Will. It can't be." Mike said, desperate for it to be true. But as you watched the body coming closer, its clothes made it as clear as the water it was in.
"Oh, God..." your hand covered your mouth as shock filled your body, the other one reaching for your brother.
"It's Will. It's really Will." Lucas said. You saw as Mike stepped backwards.
"Mike..." Eleven called out.
" 'Mike'? 'Mike' what? You were supposed to help us find him alive. You said he was alive! Why did you lie to us? What’s wrong with you? What is wrong with you?" he snapped at her and tears filled your eyes.
"Mike..."
"What?" he told her, not expecting an answer as he turned to get his bike and take off.
"Mike, come on. Don’t do this, man. Mike…" Lucas tried to stop him from leaving, but the boy had already made up his mind.
"Mike, where are you going? Mike!" Dustin cried out and you fell on your knees to hug him.
"Mike!" Lucas tried on more time, the tears wetting his cheeks. You motioned for him to hug you as well.
So you sat there for who knows how long hugging your brother and your friend, trying to stop the pain from taking control over your body and mind, your heart already shattered into pieces.

ok i have some more time! here is:
  1. the dream from tuesday night, in which pwaa case 3-5 turns into a horror movie because pearl gets possessed by a demon & then her head explodes. 2. thursday night (technically like 3am friday morning but whatever) where some people would have fake deaths & need to get on the bus
10.25.2022
ok! i don’t remember much of this since it was already a while ago & it was genuinely really unsettling, but it went like this. i made a gif of pearl’s head exploding bc it freaked me out, so if you don’t want to see that this is your sign.
pearl slipped off the inner temple side when the lightning struck & died bc there’s rocks down there. but she came back! but she was possessed by a real actual demon. anyway while her consciousness was still out, it climbed back up the cliff by using her hands as rock climbing nuts, which obviously made them get really fucked up & tore up her skin & everything, but the demon set her hands on fire on the bridge to hide that, & then put the fire out. (it had fire powers), & then pretended to get knocked out by falling rubble or something.
since the bridge wasn’t as burnt out, edgeworth found her on day 1 of investigations bc it was still safe to cross.. she said she remembered the lightning strike & put out the fire, but didn’t remember anything else. edgeworth is not a medical professional and who’s gonna doubt like an 8 year old whose story matches up currently. he tried to get her to go to the hospital, but she refused until maya was safe, so he at least wrapped her hands up. she also had a big bruise on her forehead like that
Tumblr media
and the bruise would get darker pretty much every scene she was in over time. edgewowrth was really concerned if she had a concussion, especially since she was complaining of feeling weird & heachaches all day, but she absolutely refused to leave or be babied by anyone & seemed stable overall, & he was able to focus on the investigation. phoenix was there too but it was following Edgeworth's pov for this part.
anyway then at night the bridge caught on fire again & everyone that was there ran to check it out, & pearl was there & she said some weird stuff & then her bigass forehead exploded bc the demon was living inside her brain & then it came towards the screen really fast all jumpscare-like & we got a cut to black game over screen.
Tumblr media
^it was pretty much exactly like that. so.
10.27.2022 OK so in this one, it was me, one of my internet friends, & my other friend who i played Faith with earlier this week. in the world people had timers above their heads that showed how long until they died. only you could see your timer unless you shared it with people, so like you could show your friends & stuff if you really wanted. but it was like private info otherwise. anyway we all saw that our timers were counting down to a time really soon from now, & they were all the same, & then the bus driver came to pick us up. we were confused - we hadn’t died, we were still alive? but this just happens osmetimse - the timers get confused, so it’s a false death. think like those ants who get the death chemical on them. everyone thinks they’re dead. your brain thinks you’re dead on its basest level, even if you’re not, so you’re dead.
i was having a fit & i wanted to go home to say bye to my sister, so i managed to convince the bus driver to go by my mom’s house. my sister wasn’t there. my mom could only see me for 30 seconds, & she’d started rearranging the house - a lot of the furniture was gone or moved around in really weird ways.
and then after that the bus driver took me back onto the bus. there was a little blond girl there. she looked like this one kid ava i worked with when i was 13 - big ol head, flat really pale blond hair, etc. she would cry all the time. tthe bus driver was really mean to her. mean to everyone tbh but i only really got mad when he wa mean to her. mean to me & my friends? whatever. mean to a 6 year old? grr
there were some shenannigans & stuff but i woke up abruptly today so i only have the last scene clearly - we were by the beach. it was really gorgeous. the sand was light orange, the sky was super clear & greenish blue, the water was really refreshing. me & my 2 friends were in a rock pit by the beach in like swimsuits or whatever. idk what we were doing in there. the water was 300 feet to the right. maybe we were hiding from the bus driver, but we knew he’d show up eventually. and he did.
