The Hunger Games - Year 25

Since their founding, the Games have evolved from mere punishment to spectacle. A reminder to all that the Capitol’s power knows no bounds. Arenas are no longer the well known setting of the Capitol’s Colosseum, but instead unpredictable new environments with captivating mechanisms, showcasing the heights of technological advancements with the development of mutts. Not only do they keep the tributes on their toes, they guarantee entertainment for those watching, keeping the audience on the edge of their seats.

The presentation has become interesting and rewarding enough that the wealthier Districts have been won over. This culminated in Career Academies sprouting up in Districts 1, 2, and 4 just a dozen of years since the founding of the Games. While not strictly legal, these academies continue to evolve and thrive. The already uneven scales dip even further in the favor of the strong, while the weaker Districts scramble for survival.

For the first Quarter Quell, the Hunger Games march into a new era under Head Gamemaker Coriolanus Snow. Notorious for his ambition, ingenuity, and ruthless inventions, Capitol citizens look forward to his tenure in the nation’s most watched spectacle.

it’s been a little over a year since billionaire tony stark announced himself as iron man. since then, the number of known super-enhanced individuals continues to grow. in response, s.h.i.e.l.d created the avengers initiative. this would create a team of the most extraordinary individuals humankind has to offer, with the goal of protecting earth from global and intergalactic threats.

but there was one thing s.h.i.e.l.d and the avengers hadn’t considered - the multiverse.

there have whispers that a collection of alternate universes exists, but what the public doesn’t know is that the universe is on the brink of a complete multiverse catastrophe. the time variance authority is working hard behind the scenes to keep this branch of the sacred timeline, earth 394, under control. but is it enough? or is it time for earth’s mightiest heroes to come together and save the multiverse?

HEADCANONS AND CANON DIVERGENCES:

one ; to be born into the house of black is to be born a prince. like a shooting star, they burned hot and fast, a natural disaster waiting to happen. sirius grew up in a house full of darkness and pain. he was pushed to be the perfect son. (he wished that he could be the perfect son.) he was taught to play piano and paint. he was taught magic by tutor after tutor and he learned well, until he scared each one away with his bad attitude. even as a teenager sirius had been different to his family. softer. and when he finally got to hogwarts at seventeen, he sat on a stool and had a hat placed on his head. the hat told him that he was exactly the same as the rest of them. sirius black was a slytherin, through and through. 

two ; before hogwarts sirius had been clinging on to childhood. but he grows up fast when he sets his mind to it, when he is forced to. if he is going to be a slytherin, he has to be the best of them. he has to be the king, the most important son of the most important ancient wizarding house. it was his birthright, after all. so he practices and paints on the quick wit of his family, the stoic expression, the sharp eyes. disdainful and disinterested all at once. he moves with a grace that makes other people feel coltish and awkward and prevents himself from losing control in the ways that he yearns for. no bursts of laughter in public, no warm and gentle smiles. he presses down on all the molton hot anger and fury inside of him too, all of the sadness. (he should be wearing a warning sign: caution, fragile, may break with imapct.) 

three ; sirius learned at his fathers feet. through letters and visits home. he studied the wards on grimmauld place until he could tear them down and build them back up with a flick of his wrist. they were powerful and ancient things, built up by generations of blacks before him, and his blood was the key. his independent study at hogwarts focuses on the wards of ancient wizarding locations such as hogwarts itself, and the way old wizards and sorcerers used blood magic to strengthen the protections on their homes and castles, before such practices became frowned upon.

It's been 8 years since Titaniara Battenberg, leader of the One Panem uprising, overthrew the Snow dynasty and installed herself in power. Among her changes: Capitol children now have a Reaping bowl of their own, but there is more exchange between Districts than ever before.

It's been a year and a half since District Thirteen came out of hiding to join forces with the Capitol to squash a new rebellion. What has been, up until now, an amicable coexistence of nations is no longer — Panem is on the verge of annexing Thirteen, seizing power from their ruler.

For the 130th Hunger Games, the underground District offers up two tributes in exchange for tesserae and desperately-needed resources. But since when has a transition of power been peaceful?

The Capitol - Year 25

While the Hunger Games flourish with astounding developments year after year, the Capitol evolves right alongside them. Gone are the remnants of war that plunged the nation into darkness a quarter of a century ago. Now the city stands strong in all its splendour, embracing technological advancements in its every corner, reaping the fruits of the industrious districts surrounding it. President Maximinius Ravinstill is as beloved as he has always been, ruling with fortitude and stability in equal measures. Perhaps he will rule for as long as he lives. To the nation at large, that feels like a safe assumption to make.

Unbeknownst to most citizens, however, there are tremors on the ground. As the Games and the city grow stronger, so do these tremors, rattling right beneath the nation’s highest seat. Ravinstill is aging—quite terribly, too—and his grip on power is slipping. Loyal friends and family try to hold on to what they can, but they can only do so much. There are other key players on the board now; those that conduct transportation, those that influence resources, those that control infrastructure. And what of the newly minted Head Gamemaker, with the Plinth artillery at his beck and call?

Nobody knows for certain what a shift in the power structure would mean to Panem at this time. Perhaps it is too early to tell. Nevertheless, factions are already forming among the elevated few. Not unlike the sitting president, these are the sort that would sacrifice whole districts in exchange for their ambitions, so to that effect, perhaps whose regime ends up replacing the current matters little. Those with the authority to enact change continue to do so to further their personal goals. So long as the Capitol machinery remains well-oiled, nothing is truly out of bounds for the wealthy and powerful.

The Circle of Life goes on

Life has been reborn in the Pridelands as the rain washed away all the filth of Scar's reign. The herds when they found out son of Mufasa had returned, they started migrating back into the kingdom. The hyenas and Scar's loyal followers, Zira and some other lionesses left (Simba exiled them), and the delicate balance of the land was restored.

All went back into a peaceful manner, and Simba couldn't be any happier as his first cub was born, Bahati. He couldn't help but smile proudly whenever he saw the little cub in Nala's protective paws and when he saw Rafiki lifting him up during the presentation ceremony, Simba just got the feeling of something deep in his soul: from that day on, his place in the great Circle of Life was to secure the future of his son, his family and his kingdom - at any cost.

Time just flew by, and Bahati soon grew into a cub. He was now old enough to start to learn all the royal lessons he was supposed to and Simba was glad to pass on the teachings he had learned from his father.

"Good morning, son. I was about to start my morning patrol and I was wondering if you want to join me?"
