Howdy!
Tumblr media
(I am Taiga Aisaka irl lol)
I finally decided to make an intro on this account because it’s inconsistent as hell even though it’s my main one.
But yeah hello!
I’m Mallory (people call me Mal a lot) I’m a goofy ahh autistic 21 year old
She/Her are my preferred pronouns, but I’m okay with They/Them as well if it’s easier for you to use.
I’m biromantic/asexual
I’m not in college but I’ve been working for nearly a year now! It takes up half of my time but I’m still free decently often.
I like to draw, write, make OCs and self inserts, play video games, sing and listen to music. I sometimes post my art and characters occasionally but not often on here. (I should tho)
This is my main tumblr where I used to post strictly Finding Nemo related posts but my fixation had faded out since 2021 (I still love the movie and it’s sequel but it hasn’t been my main interest anymore)
Here are my other tumblrs if they’re interesting enough to take a look at.
Second tumblr: @rxin3srandomthoughts
Meme tumblr: @rxin3smemes
Aesthetic tumblr (kinda defunct now): @rxin3saesthetics
Stim tumblr (the one I use most often besides my main): @rxin3stims
I have a large DNI list on my stim tumblr, but I’ll put a general one here too. It’s also in my bio:
DNI if:
A nsfw/k!nk blog
Racist
Homophobic
Transphobic
Ablelist
And a personal one, if you romanticize serial k!ll3rs or sh00t3rs. Big on the latter because of personal trauma and because that monster has been romanticized here before and on other platforms on the internet and I find it not only disturbing and horrifying but also disrespectful to the victims, their families, and the survivors.
If you fit under any of this criteria, you will immediately be blocked.
A lot of my content is OC related, so here is a list of ‘em!!
Self Inserts (1)

is sticky compelling enough to watch the Marvel movies for the first time in 2024AD? apologies if this is a hammer meeting hornets nest question lol
I did not forget you I promise! I wanted to answer this after I had shown The Winter Soldier to my boyfriend (who hasn't seen early marvel movies) so I could have evidence, but then it took us a week to get to. I now have a more expert opinion, though. No hornets nests I don't think. Also this is all my opinion no one sue me.
Okay so first of all, there are like 20-something marvel movies and the majority of them are not worth watching unless you have a emotional attachment to someone involved, you're nostalgic, or are researching for fanfiction. I don't know your tastes exactly but I'm not condemning you to hours of movies unless you know for sure they're what you want lol. (No judgement though if they end up being your favorites, to be clear.) I like the Iron Man movies, the first Thor is hilarious, the first Avengers is fun, Guardians of the Galaxy is fun if you can stand watching Chris Pratt, but like. you're fine without all of it. There are better things happening in the world.
I think Steve/Bucky is an awesome ship, and I love their characterization in the early movies. The fanfiction for that ship is better than any other, hands down. One of my favorite poems was written about them. There are full metafictions analyzing fake historical books written in their universe. It's like nothing I've ever seen. Experiencing the MCU has totally been worth it for me, just for that. If you want to explore them and the fic, I would say the bare minimum would be the first two Captain Americas.
The First Avenger (#1) is a backstory for Steve and Bucky and mostly takes place during WW2. You don't have to have watched any other movies, and I think it's quite enjoyable. Steve has a straight romance in it, which did result in a lot of gay shippers sidelining/hating the main female character, which is a shame because she's awesome! Fans need to either agree to disagree but also maybe invite some polyamory into their shipping. Anyway. Awesome intro to them--not gonna win an award, but great soundtrack, great characters, solid story. There's some propaganda (although a lot of it is self-aware and the main characters comment on it?) and there's some cheesy comic book fighting, but honestly I have fun with it.
The Winter Soldier (#2) is (as you probably know) THE Stucky movie. Even saying that is kinda spoiling it, but ah well. Now there are a few movies that happen in between, but I'm gonna say read a Wikipedia summary of the first Avengers (2012) and you're good to go. You just have to know that aliens attacked New York, and that Steve's been hanging out in the future with other superheros. (If you end up wanting to read iconic 2012-13 Avengers fic where they're all a found family, maybe watch Avengers 1 so you can get the vibes. That's a good reason.) TWS is a good ass movie. Genuinely. It's got political thriller vibes and it has the best character dynamics in any Marvel movie--especially for Black Widow/Natasha. Soundtrack is good, fight choreography is at its best, everyone's snarky and tender, Sebastian Stan puts his whole pussy into making puppy dog eyes while shooting people--it's the Stucky thesis statement, and it's required reading for the fanfiction.
The only other movie that is interesting Steve/Bucky-wise is Civil War (#3)--but that one functions more as an Avengers movie, and you would need to watch the preceding movies. It hinges on the fact that Steve would do anything for Bucky, which I enjoy watching, but I can't say it's worth it if you don't care about any of the other characters. Just know that Steve would defy all governments for his boyfriend. That's the thesis.
The thing to know going forward from TWS: it goes downhill, and Steve's character is destroyed. Not right away, there are some good shenanigans, but (spoiler warning) Avengers Endgame is one of the worst things I've ever watched and Steve's ending destroys his character and removes the autonomy from one of their best female characters, as well as spitting in the face of Bucky and their relationship (even platonically it's still a betrayal). If you get into it and want to keep going, I just need you to know this. I need you to know that they're not gonna give you anything better than what you've seen. Their AO3 tag has more than enough for a lifetime. You'll be fine.
As a preacher of the Stucky gospel, I say watch at least two fun movies so you can be witness to one of the greatest ships of this generation. It's only like 4 hours of your life. It'll be educational at the very least.
Okay thank you for asking <3<3<3 Let me know if you end up getting into it! And feel free to ask for fic recs if you end up being interested!

New IN THIS MOMENT Song 'I Would Die For You' Featured On 'John Wick: Chapter 4 - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack'
Lakeshore Records is set to release "John Wick: Chapter 4 - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack" digitally March 24 with an original score by Tyler Bates ("John Wick", "Guardians Of The Galaxy"),and Joel J. Richard ("John Wick", "The Andromeda Strain"). Bates and Richard, their scores an integral part of the success of the first three installments of "John Wick", return with another masterclass in high-intensity compositions that feature an array of instruments — including treated piano, mandolin, acoustic and electric guitar, bass, harmonica orchestra, synths, and found object percussion. Bates also produced songs performed by Lola Colette with Nick and Sam Wilkerson of the punk band WHITE REAPER on drums and bass respectively, as well as tracks with IN THIS MOMENT and Manon Hollander. In addition, the track co-written and produced by Bates with vocals by avant pop phenomenon and cast member Rina Sawayama, "Eye For An Eye", is available digitally. The Lionsgate film directed by Chad Stahelski and starring Keanu Reeves, Donnie Yen, Bill Skarsgård, Laurence Fishburne, Hiroyuki Sanada, Shamier Anderson, Lance Reddick, Rina Sawayama, Scott Adkins and Ian McShane is in theaters and IMAX on March 24.
Bates told Entertainment Weekly about his collaboration with IN THIS MOMENT: "'I Would Die For You' is a song that I wrote with Maria Brink and Chris Howorth of IN THIS MOMENT and [also] produced. Chad, literally, out of the blue, called me up, and he's like, 'Yo, Tyler, do you know this singer, I love her, Maria-something, she's in this band, IN THIS…?' I'm like, 'IN THIS MOMENT?' He said, 'Yeah, that's it!' I said, 'I'm actually working on their new record right now. [Laughs] They are real fans of 'John Wick', which is really cool."
"John Wick: Chapter 4 - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack" track listing:
01. Big Wick Energy 02. Nowhere To Run (Lola Colette) 03. Sand Wick 04. Change Your Nature 05. Continental Breakfast 06. Wick In Osaka 07. High Table In Osaka 08. A Grave Accusation 09. Grief On A Train 10. I Would Die For You (IN THIS MOMENT) 11. Of Mincing & Men 12. A Grave Situation 13. To Get Back In 14. Killa's Teeth 15. Ambition And Worth 16. Dog Lover 17. JW, Loving Husband 18. Stairs Arrival 19. Marie Douceur, Marie Colère (Manon Hollander) 20. John Wick Rises 21. Paris Radio Intro 22. Chess Club 23. Urban Cowgirl 24. Quite The Mess You've Made 25. Eye For An Eye (Rina Sawayama) 35. Cry Mia River
Bates regularly transitions from scoring some of the world’s biggest film and television franchises, such as "Guardians Of The Galaxy" and "John Wick", to rocking massive audiences in the world of rock music, and back to the studio again writing and producing records with artists like HEALTH, BUSH, IN THIS MOMENT and STARCRAWLER, to name a few. In 2004, he created the menacing audio backdrop for the popular Zack Snyder reboot of "Dawn Of The Dead", beginning a string of nearly a dozen box office number ones that have contributed to well over five billion dollars cumulative worldwide box office gross for his projects. Bates then teamed up with Snyder again for the films "300", "Watchmen" and "Sucker Punch". His oeuvre expanded to include films like "Atomic Blonde", "The Devil's Rejects", "The Day The Earth Stood Still", "William Friedkin's Killer Joe", and TV shows like "Californication", "Punisher", "The Purge", "Kingdom", "Salem", "The Exorcist" and more. More recently, Bates scored the blockbuster "Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs And Shaw", "Deadpool 2", "Jamie Foxx's Dayshift", Ti West's 2022 releases "X" and "Pearl", "The Spy Who Dumped Me", plus Genndy Tartakovsky's acclaimed animated series "Samurai Jack" and "Primal" on Adult Swim. After scoring Cirque Du Soleil's "R.U.N.", Bates embarked on the 2022 world tour in support of Jerry Cantrell's latest album "Brighten", which he also co-produced. With more new projects on the horizon including "Agent Elvis", Tyler Bates will undoubtedly continue to redefine what a composer is as a shapeshifting artist who's architected one of the most kaleidoscopic resumes in music.
Last October, IN THIS MOMENT released an EP called "Blood 1983". The effort commemorated the tenth anniversary of IN THIS MOMENT's gold-certified album "Blood" (2012) and was made available digitally across all digital service providers as well as CD via BMG.
"Blood 1983" was co-produced by Bates and Dan Haigh, and mixed by Zakk Cervini.
Since coming to life in 2005, IN THIS MOMENT has presided over a diehard fan base under the watch of "mother" figure and frontwoman Brink — joined by co-founder and lead guitarist Howorth, bassist Travis Johnson, guitarist Randy Weitzel and drummer Kent Dimmel. As millions convened upon the group's otherworldly and unforgettable concerts, they quietly emerged as one of the most influential and impactful bands of the 21st century.
To date, in addition to the gold-selling album "Blood", the quintet has garnered two gold singles — "Blood" and "Whore" — followed by Top 25 entries on the Billboard Top 200 with "Black Widow" (2014) and "Ritual" (2017). Bringing their total stream tally well past 200 million as of 2020, "Ritual" elevated them to new creative and critical peaks as well. Between selling out headline tours coast-to-coast, the group performed in arenas everywhere alongside DISTURBED and appeared at countless festivals from Welcome To Rockville to Sonic Temple. Along the way, they assembled their seventh full-length, the aptly titled "Mother" (Roadrunner) with longtime collaborator Kevin Churko (OZZY OSBOURNE, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH).
IN THIS MOMENT is Maria Brink (lead vocals),Chris Howorth (guitars),Travis Johnson (bass),Randy Weitzel (rhythm guitar),Kent Dimmel (drums).

🎶✨️when you get this, put 5 songs you actually listen to, then publish. Send this ask to 10 of your favorite followers (non-negotiable, positivity is cool)🎶✨️
OMG THANKS @theloonatic FOR ASKING ME and whoever started this ask chain because it's BEAUTIFUL to see 💓
If there's anything I love more than my favourite hyper fixation books and fanfictions, it is definitely songs so ig I'll check my on repeat for them ? Is that how this is supposed to work or just top 5 favs ? because that also seems pretty cool.
Songs
Because Halsey's vocals in the chorus are just *chefs kiss* and I love the entire album because of the lyricism ❤️‍🔥
I found this through guardians of the galaxy ending scene and IMMEDIATELY loved it 💖 the vibes in this one are just >>>>>
Let's just say that everytime this shows up my neurons begin dancing like Drax did to this very same song
Now obviously I am at heart, a six of crows fan, and thus, I am LEGALLY bound to like this song 😁🤩 and anyone who likes pirate vibes stories or atleast criminal badass protagonist vibes will DEFINITELY love it
This one is pure perfection by King Princess and honestly ? This is me after a girl looks at me for more than 2 seconds. It's a sapphic bop and I love it 💗
Random girl: *stares at me for about half a second*
Me: *already plotting our whole fictional life and breakup in my mind* 👭👩‍❤️‍👩🤰🤱💔😭
Random girl: -_-
So ANYGAYS, moving on
Probably my favourite song from Louis. The vibes are very badass and very nice overall positive but since fitfwt started I have NOT been able to forget this one because the INTRO OMG
Louis: *OOhoOOOhoOhoHUH*
Me watching the Instagram live clip I scoured for and found 70 days after it happened: 🫠🫥🥹🥲
CHILLS. EVERYTIME.
🧑‍🎤
This is a playlist I made of songs that reminds me of Six of crows book duology :-
This playlist is not really entirely made of vibes as some songs also have the perfect lyrics but overall it's just a collection of songs that I wish someone would make edits of Six Of Crows edits to it but I'm too unskilled to make.
I literally waited for so long to make this one but now it's 2h and 35 mins and that probably won't be changing unless I find a really really cool song that I HAVE to add

OMG. Was "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" overrated. <SPOILERS>
The first was a perfect piece of art. Never needed a sequel. It was a self contained spectacle. It marched to the beat of it's own drum.
The second was....'remember that drum. Let's pound the shit out of it!' Basically it's TOO MUCH like the newest fast and furious. Bright, flashy, in your face, and right when it gets good, right when it seems like your 2 hours into it paid off....
CLIFFHANGER.
The biggest fight of the ENTIRE movie you were waiting the whole movie for is in the NEXT movie.
Fucking amazing.
It had its' moments, but the best scenes were in the trailers. There's only one reason to watch beyond the trailers: the art. It is still a pretty fucking movie. Some of these shots were....posters in of themselves. Also Donald Glover's cameo (NOT animated. That is one thing they did more of in this movie: try any and all art styles. The intro credits ALONE must have taken a lot of work)
First Spider verse? 10/10. Easy.
This try hard? 7/10. Yeah, it's still good, but....how many multiverse fucking movies do we need? The story has been done! I mean dear shit, we got the flash(point) coming out. EVERYONE KNOWS HOW THAT MOVIE GOES! Literally, I bet there is all but...1-3 things TOPS I couldn't see coming from a mile away for the flash movie....ugh.
ps-fav part? Peter Parker: the worst dad ever. He literally puts his newborn baby in harm's way constantly, then asks if he's a good dad. NO. NO you are not, and that whole bit was dumb as fuck. I didn't have a fav part. This movie OOZES with sequel tropes, and when you want to enjoy it, it lets you down. I mean ALL the good fights (ALL OF THEM) are in like the first 1/2 the movie. WTF!
I said it after the Guardians of the Galaxy X-mas special, and def after Thor 4 & Antman 3, but....the time of super hero movies is dying quicker and quicker. Good. Maybe we can get movies where the characters are actually varied and different, and not 100 million copies of the same fucking story!!!

ELO & Baby Groot
We all know that music is a powerful element that evokes emotions and memories when listened to, and depending on the music you’re listening to, it can also change your mood. Well, to me, nothing brings more happiness and joy than Baby Groot dancing to Mr. Blue Sky in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol II. I have beautiful memories of watching the movie with my family, especially that intro scene that could change our mood instantly. In fact, we like that movie so much that we named our dog in honor of that beautiful and adorable dancing mini-tree.
Thanks to Guardians of the Galaxy, my musical taste has changed a lot over these years, from listening to almost nothing to listening to Electric Light Orchestra and their songs on an infinite loop, especially when I’m having a bad day, because their songs make me remember one of my favorite movies, and my favorite intro scene ever.
I think that’s the reason why this movie has become one of my favorites, because of the emotions conveyed by each musical choice present in each scene, and how this perfect selection enhances the emotional impact it has on me.
To finish, I have nothing more to say than thanks to Guardians of the Galaxy for introducing me to a great band and inspiring the name of my greatest friend and the biggest source of joy in my life. Now, i’ll leave you with my top 3 songs featured in that movie:
1.- Mr. Blue Sky (obviously).
2.- Im not in love.
3.- Wham Bam Shang-A-Lang.

You know what’s fun about Marvel movies?
The sheer, indisputable downward trend.
Hear me out. Phase 1, favorite movies. I can say Iron Man, and no one would dispute that it’s a worthy contender. I love the first Iron Man movie. It’s up there in my favorite rewatchable movies of all time. But someone else could say Captain America, and I would get it. I like the personal relationships of Iron Man, but this other person might just prefer WWII movies. And Captain America plays out a lot like a classic WWII movie. With updated action sequences, of course.
Iron Man II is weaker, yeah, but it was an understandable progression, and if you’re a Pepperony shipper, then I definitely get it. Tony once again suffering from the unintended consequences of his actions. He’s in a better place than IM, but he’s still struggling to be the better person he wants to be.
Or Thor. I could even understand someone saying Thor is their favorite. It’s a rom-com superhero movie. Star-crossed lovers and all that. Probably one of the weakest movies of phase 1, but it had heart. Actually, if they had leaned in more into the rom-com or more into the Loki-Thor conflict, it probably would’ve been better, but I liked it (kinda wish they kept Thor’s OG intro, but I get that it probably felt too close to Steve’s). Didn’t fully track the Loki descent into darkness, but that can probably be solved with a rewatch.
Now. Current Marvel (phase 4, i think?), favorite movies. I would say about 90% of people still watching would say one of the Spider-Man movies. Actually, having double checked the list of phase 4 movies, I’d say 95%. And what else is even a contender? The Eternals bombed and broke the lore. Black Widow went on about 20 minutes too long (all for mediocre CGI, too) and was disjointed in tone and morals. Love & Thunder isn’t doing too hot. Shang Chi? That’s probably the other 5%, to be honest. But it also kinda broke the lore. The Ten Rings were heavily hinted at in Iron Man, totally misused in Iron Man III (aka Disney’s Iron Man. Which almost, but not quite, hit the mark), and then completely changed for Shang Chi. If any non-Spider-Man movie is your favorite in phase 4, you have an uphill climb defending it as an objectively good movie the way you could for phase 1. And that’s probably because the Spider-Man movies are the only ones that don’t feel like a “Disney Marvel” movie.
Phase 1 (and 2!) movies all had a different tone and feel. From the introspection of Iron Man 1 & 2, to the war movie of Captain America, to the rom-com feelings of Thor, the Spy-Thriller of The Winter Soldier, and the heist-like conventions in Guardians of the Galaxy.
I could keep going. Like how AC/DC and other classic rock used in the soundtrack makes sense in Iron Man, since 1. It’s Tony’s favorite music, 2. he’s flying around in a mechanical suit with built in speakers, with similar reasoning for GotG with Starlord and his walkman. But how, while it was an impressively coordinated fight scene, the use of Immigrant Song in Thor:Ragnarok makes no sense,
Okay. Rant over. Disney Marvel is on a downward trend. Not because it’s trendy to hate on Marvel, but because the movies are objectively of lower quality and off the path laid out by the pre-Disney Marvel movies.

Disney World and Universal Studios Ride Reviews
I went on a trip to Orlando, Florida to visit Disney World and Universal Studios with Janie this past week. We flew from SFO to Orlando on Thursday morning Sept 7, 2023 and returned to SFO on Sept 15 Friday night (11 pm).
See the calendar below for more details:
Tumblr media
This document captures my thoughts on each ride (since I probably won't be returning to Orlando anytime soon!) as well as general lessons/takeaways for future visits to theme parks.
EPCOT
Remy's Ratatouille Adventure: Trackless 3D ride. Great theming of the queue and ride, and surrounding area (France in EPCOT). Disney magic is palpable.
8/10
Frozen Ever After: Terrible, low effort flume ride with weird, projected faces on Elsa/Anna animatronics.
3/10
La Gran Fiesta: Entry to the ride is cool (inside Pyramid) but the theme itself (Donald Duck + 2 Mexican musician birds) is not very relatable.
5/10
Spaceship Earth: Fun, slow, informative ride about the progression of mankind. Includes comical pictures at the end of the riders.
6.5/10
Mission: Space: Quality ride that simulates training to be an astronaut. Rotation to simulate G Force can make people dizzy (not me).
7/10
Soarin’ Around the World: A classic, solid ride, very similar to the California Adventures counterpart.
7/10
Living with the Land (Boat Ride with the Greenhouse): Slow but informative flume/boat ride. No real theming. Just about agriculture/earth.
5.5/10
Finding Nemo: Decent cart ride (like Haunted Mansion/Little Mermaid) that allowed us to discover the existence of EPCOT’s aquarium. Potentially boring.
6/10
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind: An indoor rollercoaster ride reminiscent of Space Mountain. The theming was decent in line and also on the ride with the god. This was probably better than Space Mountain since the carts can rotate.
7.5/10
Test Track: Queue theming (design your own car!) was cool despite Chevrolet presence. Initial part of ride was cool, but the climax was super short (one outdoor loop with a terrible view).
5/10
Animal Kingdom
Expedition Everest: Similar to Matterhorn Bobsleds ride, albeit with a backwards twist. The queue theming (Yeti museum, Nepal climbing gear, general Nepal/Asia region in Animal Kingdom) are awesome. These two components make the ride significantly superior to Matterhorn Bobsleds.
7.5/10
Safari Tour: Shorter than expected but still get to see a lot of animals (lions, gazelles, elephants, hippos, zebras, giraffes, etc.) in the preserve. It’s still something that needs to be done at least once every trip.
6.5/10.
It’s Tough to be a Bug: Boring ride/show hybrid. Good for a rest in a cool room.
5/10
Flight of Passage: Best 3D ride. Queue (upward jungle into lab) and Pandora land are also great.
8/10
Na’vi River Journey: Flume ride through Pandora with one high quality singing Avatar animatronic. It’s an OK ride, but not much emotional connection and kind of boring. Not worth a long wait.
6/10
Dinosaur Ride: Unexpectedly exciting, great ride tucked away in DinoLand. It’s similar to the Indiana Jones ride (cart through darkness) albeit with dinosaurs instead. The queue’s theme is apt (dinosaur museum) and is referenced by the ride intro video, but is kind of boring.
7.5/10
Kali River Rapids: Similar to Grizzly River Rapids but worse/shorter. There’s just one drop.
6/10
Magic Kingdom
Jungle Cruise: Pretty similar to the Disneyland counterpart. Although there’s a cave part that’s different where the skipper is completely silent.
6/10
Tomorrowland Cars: Super slow cars, ineffective steering, bad exhaust smell. Queue theming is nonexistent and waiting takes place in the sun.
4/10
TRON: A decent indoor rollercoaster with swiveling capability. Theming is a bit generic (futuristic, cyber lights) but still fun overall. Similar to Space Mountain, although the position involves sitting (like on a motorcycle) which is cooler.
7.5/10
Pirates of the Caribbean: A classic. Mostly similar but the Disneyland counterpart is slightly better in my opinion (no restaurant at beginning of ride, no man on rocking chair at beginning of ride, or no Jolly Roger before initial drop) no uphill at end). The queue theming is more planned and better (dedicated building with angular lines).
7/10
Seven Dwarves and the Mine: Broke down twice when we tried to ride it. Queue is OK but boring. Actually ride is gateway coaster for kids and over pretty quickly.
6/10
It’s a Small World: Can view ride/queue from the Pinocchio restaurants which is cool. Queue/boarding area is pretty modern and indoors. Other than that, pretty similar to Disneyland counterpart and somewhat boring.
6/10
The Little Mermaid: Decent cart ride. Not a huge fan of Little Mermaid, but still pretty nice. Underwater effects are cool. Pretty similar to the California Adventure counterpart.
7/10.
Haunted Mansion: Awesome ride even without the Nightmare Before Christmas theme. Great for Halloween/fall vibes. Similar to the Disneyland counterpart.
7.5/10
Hollywood Studios
Star Wars (Rise of the Resistance): Very similar to the Disneyland counterpart. Trackless ride with great setup.
7.5/10
Star Wars (Smugglers Run): Very similar to the Disneyland counterpart. Also a decent ride (although being pilot is stressful) in a great area (Galaxy’s Edge).
7/10
Star Tours: The Adventure Continues: Fun 3D ride with a short line.
7/10
Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway: Great trackless ride with cute Mickey/Minnie vacation theme. Glad to see it was introduced to Disneyland earlier this year.
8/10
Aerosmith Rollercoaster: Great indoor rollercoaster. Despite the unrelatable Aerosmith intro, the ride is basically Space Mountain with a “California” theme. I would consider it at least on par with Space Mountain.
7.5/10
Twilight Tower of Terror: California Adventure’s counterpart was converted to Guardians of Galaxy theme, so it’s nice to ride the classic again. The theme is great for Halloween vibes. The trippy ride intro prior to the actual bouncing (elevator moves forward through space with giant eyeballs of stuff) wasn’t present in the California Adventure’s version, and actually makes it better.
7.5/10
Toy Story Mania: The ride itself is very similar to the California Adventure’s counterpart. But the dedicated building for a themed queue and surrounding area (Toy Story Land) makes is better.
7.5/10
Slinky Dog Dash: Decent gateway coaster with light theme in Toy Story Land. Not worth a long wait though.
7/10.
Universal Studios
Simpsons: Decent, light 3D ride.
7/10
Minions Mayhem: Decent, light 3D ride.
7/10
Men in Black (Alien Attack): Blaster ride in moving cart with physical robot aliens. High quality queue (old school 90s/2000s office) and ride.
7/10
Minions Villain Con (Blaster): Lame because you have to stand up. Also hard to tell where your blaster is, since everyone shares the same screen.
6/10
Race through NYC with Jimmy Fallon: Decent 3D ride despite Jimmy Fallon theme.
7/10
Fast and Furious: Super loud; not worth it. The subject matter is also not appealing to me personally.
5/10
Transformers: Decent, exciting 3D ride, but also pretty loud.
6.5/10
Harry Potter (Escape from Gringotts): A decent ride with an amazing queue through Gringotts.
7.5/10
ET Adventure: An unexpectedly awesome, old school ride. Biking over the night city (shadow across the moon) was amazing. The name at the end was the cherry on top. One of the best rides in Universal across both parks.
7.5/10
Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit: A pretty good rollercoaster! You get to choose your own song, which impacts the experience significantly. Sandstorm by Darude was a great choice.
7/10
Bourne Stuntacular: Technically a show, but awesome effects!
8/10
Hogwarts Express (to Hogsmeade): This is not really a ride — more themed for of transportation. King’s Cross theming is very realistic to the point of making the wait a bit boring. Reflection trick for going through the wall is kind of cool. During the ride, window animation + silhouettes are fun but a bit on the nose.
6/10
Islands of Adventure
Harry Potter (Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure): Pretty cool “mini” rollercoaster ride with theming, although a bit loud. Backwards part was unexpected. Reminiscent of Expedition Everest.
7/10
Harry Potter (Forbidden Journey): Same as the one in Universal Hollywood. A classic with a great queue, although the dementor part of the ride is pretty excessive.
7/10
VelociCoaster: Fun, Jurassic-Park themed queue and decent rollercoaster. I was slightly disappointed due to the all the hype (“one of the best rollercoasters in America”). I would put it in the same tier as Incredicoaster, Flight Deck, and Rip Ride Rockit.
7/10
Jurassic Park Boat Ride: A classic flume ride, although pretty loud and slightly boring (just one drop at end). It was nice to ride it again because the California counterpart is possible closed (need to double check).
6/10
Spiderman: An OK 3D ride. It’s pretty loud though.
6/10
King Kong: Skull Island: Similar to Fast and Furious (large, moving vehicle with 3D effects on sides). But the queue and subject matter is much more exciting. It makes me want to watch the movie.
7/10
Hogwarts Express (to Diagon Alley): This is not really a ride — more themed for of transportation. During the ride, window animation + silhouettes are fun but a bit on the nose. Glad to see they are different from the (to Hogsmeade) ride though. Also weird because the train faces the wrong direction.
6/10

¿What if Thor was sent to Earth in Avengers Infinity War?
To: Chris Hemsworth, the Russo Bros., and Marvel Studios
                                                       Intro
What if events went differently in the MCU? What if Thor was sent to Earth in Avengers Infinity War? In today’s fan fiction we’re going to be exploring what would have happened if Thor was sent to Earth instead of Hulk in Infinity War. ¿How can this affect Endgame going forward? This is an original what if created by me taking inspiration from the 1991 Infinity Gauntlet comic with elements from the 2013 Infinity comic while following the mythology of Thor and the Avengers and the timeline of the MCU. Without wasting anymore time sit back and relax and enjoy this out of this world fan fiction.
                                                    Act 1
The beginning of Infinity War was playing out the same as in our universe. However our story begins during the battle between Hulk and Thanos. This time Thanos would use the Power Stone on Hulk and Hulk would be defeated but with severe injuries. Heimdall saw the events unfold and said that Thor would be a better candidate to go to Earth. He send Thor through the Bifrost and the rest of the events will play out the same as in our universe.
                                                Act 2
Doctor Strange and Wong were about to go eat lunch when all of a sudden the Bifrost crushed in the Sanctum Sanctourm. However they would find Thor instead of Hulk with Thor saying that Thanos is coming. Strange would find Iron Man and he would reunite with Thor. Strange and Wong explained to them about the Infinity Stones and told them what would happen if he gets all the stones which will end with him snapping out 50% of all existence. They then heard a loud explosion and out came Ebony Maw and Cull Obsidian. Our fan fiction resumes here with Thor finding out that Thanos had obliterated the ship believing to have killed everyone in it. Enraged, he proceeded to attack the both of them and the battle will go just as in our universe with Spider-Man showing up mid battle. However the battle would be much brutal and faster with the ending being the same with Thor contacting Steve instead of Bruce unaware of the events that happened while he was gone.
                                                         Act 3
Meanwhile, the Guardians of the Galaxy went to the remains of the Statesman and in this universe they would find Hulk instead of Thor still alive but badly injured. They rescued him and woke him up. Hulk woke up and transformed back to Bruce Banner meeting the Guardians in the process. Bruce told them of what happened telling them that Thanos destroyed the ship after getting the tesseract with the Space Stone. However he also mentioned that he obtained another stone prior to going to the ship and told them that it was a purple one and was the source of the destruction of the ship. The Guardians knew which stone he was referring to which was the Power Stone meaning that he must have decimated the Nova Corps to obtain it. Gamora will explain the rest of the story to them telling them that if his father gets all the stones he can decimate the entire universe with just a snap. The Guardians will go to Knowhere to find the Reality Stone and in this universe Bruce, Rocket and Groot will go to Nidavellier to search for something they can use to stop Thanos after Bruce found out that Hulk didn’t wanna come out. The events with the Guardians including Gamora being captured and sacrificed by Thanos in order to obtain the Soul Stone and the Battle of Titan with the rest of the Guardians including Nebula meeting Stark, Strange and Spider-Man and their battle with Thanos will play out the same as in our universe unaware of what is happening on Earth.
                                                      Final act
Our fan fiction resumes here with Bruce, Rocket and Groot going to Nidavellier to find something they can use on Thanos. Meanwhile, back on Earth Captain America and his team along with Scarlet Witch and Vision have just returned from Edinburgh after their fight with Próxima Midnight and Corvus Glaive who tried to get the Mind Stone off Vision. They would reunite with War Machine and Thor in this universe. Thor told him what happened back in space explaining that he lost most of his people and Asgard itself while also revealing that Thanos had already retrieved the Power Stone when he got the tesseract containing the Space Stone while the rest of the Avengers told Thor what happened to them while he was gone. The rest of the Infinity War events will keep playing out the same however the only difference would be that since Bruce in this universe is on Nidavellier Shuri was the only one working on Vision. However, Thor would tell her everything she needed to know about the Mind Stone before the operation. The Black Order except Ebony Maw along with a new member Supergiant arrived at Wakanda. As they were preparing Shuri came and gave Cap gauntlet shields to replace his actual shield and in this universe Thor some electrical swords similar to Ragnarok. After that the battle will play out the same as in the film. Back on Nidavellier, Bruce, Rocket and Groot were forming a weapon they can use against Thanos. They were using the weapon that Thor used to forge the Stormbreaker in the film however in this universe the weapon failed to work as Thor was the only one that could handle that much power. Bruce was mad as without a weapon they were unable to defeat Thanos. However he was so mad he eventually began to hit everything including breaking things when all of a sudden he started to feel Hulk waking up. But this Hulk in particular was much angrier than the usual. We come back to the Battle of Wakanda when the heroes were being defeated by the outriders when a huge green blast came from below. It was none other than Rocket, Groot and Hulk but it wasn’t just Hulk it was World War Hulk who give a huge smash to the ground incapacitating everyone including the Avengers and the Black Order and wiping out the remaining Outriders. The Avengers killed the remainder of the Black Order when they heard a rumble coming from the woods. It was none other than the mad Titan himself. They all tried to stop him but were all defeated and even Thor couldn’t stop him. Thanos eventually killed Vision and got the Mind Stone completing the Gauntlet when Hulk came and gave a humongous punch to Thanos knocking him off guard. Thanos was defeated but was about to snap anyway until someone came and took the gauntlet from him. It was none other than Thane himself who revealed himself as Thanos’s son. Thanos was shocked to see his son and asked him why is he doing this to which Thane replies that he’s doing it for the good of the universe. Thane then proceeded to blast his head off killing him for good. Thane would then wear the gauntlet and snap. Before they could celebrate they saw another portal emerge and out came the Milano with the other Guardians, Stark, Strange and Spider-Man emerging from the ship.
                                                  Epilogue
In the aftermath, the Avengers and the world itself began to celebrate Thanos’s defeat. Thane and the Avengers decided to spread the stones away with The Guardians of the Galaxy becoming the owners of the Power Stone, Thor and Loki of the Space and Reality Stone, Doctor Strange of the Time Stone, The Avengers of the Mind Stone so they can use it to rebuild Vision and Thane of the Soul Stone before departing to space to rebuild the damage his father had done to the universe. Endgame would not have happened as there was no snap. With Thanos gone the universe was safe for good until Silver Surfer told his master that Thanos has been killed by his son and the Avengers to which he tells the Surfer that this is their chance to show the world the wraith of Galactus…
                                                     THE END!
And that is going to be it for what if Thor was sent to Earth in Infinity War. We saw how the movie mostly played out the same with Thor and Hulk swapping roles having some differences with the biggest one being during the Battle of Wakanda when Supergiant became a part of the Black Order, Bruce Banner became World War Hulk and Thane killed Thanos and snapped bringing back Loki and Gamora but not Vision. That is going to be it for this what if but before i wrap it up I wanna reveal 2 new what ifs currently in development. One is what if the Illuminati defeated the Scarlet Witch in Multiverse of Madness and the first ever Very long fan fiction Avengers 2000 which explains what if the Marvel heroes from the 2000’s became the Avengers. So be on the lookout for that and more what ifs coming soon. Take care guys and have a fantastic day. Peace out!

The "I Can 'Pin' Posts on Tumblr Now? Since When?" Intro/Masterpost
Greetings and welcome to the "Who The Fuck Am I?" post written by yours truly, whoever the fuck I am. Now that I'm back on my Fandom bullshit again in at least 2 blogs, I thought I'd re-introduce myself.
I am 2nd gen Korean-American on the Best West Coast. I ID as she/they/shiro, and ace/demi. I'm in the millennial bracket (aka, I am a Legal Adult) so be mindful when interacting with me. I do what I can to be antiracist and am always learning to be better.
I am some iteration of "shirozora" on: LiveJournal, Dreamwidth, AO3, Tumblr, Twitter, Instagram, Discord. My first Fandom 2.0 was political/pundit RPF and my first fandom fallout was Racefail '09, so you could say I've Seen Some Shit. Been 5+ years since I last engaged in actual Fandom, yet here the fuck I am.
Fandoms I have written/drawn for (FFN years do not count, I purged that account): political/pundit RPF, Supernatural, Tron: Legacy, MCU, Star Trek (AOS), Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy XIV, Star Wars/The Mandalorian
A Short List Of Things I Wrote in No Particular Order:
Lost Symphony (T): SPN; Dean/Cassie, Sam/Jessica, pre-Dean/Castiel; for the Racebending Revenge challenge - "Mary Ahn Winchester died on the ceiling of the nursery on November 2, 1983."
We Are Pilots (T+): Tron: Legacy; Sam/Tron; for the Tron Kink Meme - "Six months and Sam still can't shake off his father's ghost, so Quorra suggests returning to the Grid to find the answers he needs to move on."
Wishing Well (T): Captain America: The First Avenger; Steve/Howard, Steve/Peggy, unfulfilled Howard/Peggy/Steve; for the Cap Kink Meme - "And you just wanna feel like a coin that's been tossed / In a wishing well, a wishing well."
A Thousand Eyes Staring Back (T+): Mass Effect 2; Kaiden/m!Shep - "His problems start at Horizon, aka that time Kaidan Alenko was having a really bad day and his former CO was supposed to be dead."
Waking Ghosts (T+): Dragon Age; Dorian Pavus/Male Trevelyan Inquisitor; the Mummy (1999) AU nobody asked for - "Dorian Pavus, formerly of Qarinus, is an archivist at the Magisterium research outpost in Hightown."
Seasons Change (T): Black Panther/MCU; M'Baku/T'Challa - "A fisherman finds a dying king in his nets and Hanuman offers M'Baku an opportunity to repay T'Challa for sparing his life at Warrior Falls."
born in a thunderstorm (T+): Star Trek: AOS, Captain Marvel, Thor: Ragnarok, Guardians of the Galaxy; Kirk/McCoy; the worst AU I ever wrote - "Kevin Riley insists that James Kirk didn't die on Tarsus IV. Nobody believes him."
Dangerous Dreams series (T) - The Storm; The Suns; Between Planets: Star Wars/The Mandalorian; Din/Luke; the reason why I'm writing this post - "To want something for yourself, that is a dangerous dream."
I cross-post and occasionally write about writing at @shirozora-writes. But I bet a bunch of y'all stumbled into my little sandbox through @shirozora-draws, so let's talk about that!
I suffered from artist's block for almost 4 years. That ended when I became utterly fixated on "So Grogu has two dads now - oh no." I fucking ragequit Star Wars after the fucking world lied to me about The Last Jedi* and now I'm doing the most insane and involved fanworks because of Star Wars. The fuck???
To end this unapologetically long-ass Intro Post, here are my 3 favorite recent doodles:
Tumblr media
The original post is here. First time animating with Clip Studio Paint and I had a two-day meltdown over it.
Tumblr media
The original post is here. Fun fact: the file name is "homoerotic chin tilt yolo". Also, 6.4k notes? You guys are wild.
Tumblr media
The original post is here. The final illustration from The Suns.
*I hate The Last Jedi the most not just because it's racist sexist garbage that trashed everyone except Kylo Ren whoever the fuck he thinks he is, and jumpstarted some of the most toxic fandom behavior I had the displeasure of witnessing, but also because I read so much praise for it before walking into the theater, paying for a ticket with my own money, and realizing 5 minutes into the film that I was gonna have the worst time of my life. I can't and probably will never watch Knives Out because I still haven't forgiven the director for the psychological damage. This is 100% a TLJ Hate Zone.

Music. Is. IMPORTANT!
Music conveys emotion and thought far better than anything that can be written or said. It tells stories, strengthens a scene, and evokes a feeling, whether a song is lyrical, instrumental, or just a random pop song added to a moment. And if you don't believe me, then refer to the following list. And I'm not going to explain my reasoning why for all of them. Not only because that defeats the purpose, but also because this list is so gosh dang long that it would be impossible to cover all of them. If you want me to explain my reasoning, then ask me, and I'll do so. I'll also leave links to these songs so you can see for yourself why music truly is essential.

Initial Impression of Shang-Chi: The Ten Rings
I’m back again (not that I’m ever really here anyways) to talk about Shang-Chi. This is just an initial impression, I wasn’t paying attention too hard to this one, and it’s a Marvel movie, so there isn’t usually incredibly nuanced artistic choices to analyze anyways.
I liked it! It felt very long, but I liked it. Based on the ads I didn’t expect the story line that ended up being followed, but it was cooler than I anticipated. Spoilers Ahead - you have been warned.
A few points:
1. The score was awesome. It was very immersive, and really drove home the atmosphere. The Anderson Paak song for the outro was a great choice IMO.
2. The visuals. This movie was GORGEOUS. The texture on the dragon? The colour of the souls? The dragon scale armour? The visual effects for the setting? I know it was all green-screened, but it genuinely looked like a vast, incredible landscape. I think this movie does visuals better than any Marvel movie I’ve seen yet. The best comparison that comes to mind is Black Panther - that movie also required a lot of wide shots of the setting in order to do good exposition, but I think Shang-Chi does it better. I’d say it parallels Guardians of the Galaxy, but as a personal opinion I like this movie more. 10/10, genuinely.
3. The fight scenes. They were very long, but they genuinely rival Winter Soldier and Black Panther on my list of favourite fight choreography. All three movies bring in really unique fighting styles taken from different parts of the world, and are incredibly well choreographed. The climax fight scene in particular I thought was awesome, especially to see Shang-Chi go head to head with his father/the 10 rings.
4. For an origin story, it was alright. I don’t usually like origin stories, just because I find the dialogue to be very clunky and odd when they’re trying to assemble the back story for every character in the entire film, and with Marvel films you know they have to cram as much into the dialogue as possible for viewers that don’t know their comic books. I still found the dialogue clunky - especially in the intro scenes where Shaun/Shang-Chi and Katy are talking about meeting in high school. No one talks like that, especially not to friends they already know.
5. The karaoke scenes were so fun, I think they were perfect.
6.  Xialing. Enough said. I checked the actress’ IMDB and this is her only acting credit! Her whole character was so cool. I do still take issue with the way Marvel/Disney goes about the “girl power” bits in their movies. I feel like they are not allowed to be flawed beings in the way that male characters are, and always come with stories of rejection for being a woman in a “man’s world”. It is all quite patronizing.
7. I LOVED the amount of Mandarin spoken in this movie. I was watching the movie while making dinner, which made it a little hard to keep up, but I thought the way they transitioned between English and Mandarin was really neat. It’s a beautiful sounding language.
8. Any story about overcoming trauma in addition to physical threats is my favourite. Lots of the Marvel movies feel very superficial in the way they deliver the struggles of their main characters, but I felt like the tension between Shaun/Shang-Chi and his dad was pretty genuine.
9. The rings. I’ve heard they’re not used quite so much as weapons in the comics (I’m still on the Spider-Man/Deadpool crossover comics, I’m sorry) but for something that supposedly had to be adapted for the big screen, I think their role as a weapons was done well.
10. I didn’t feel like Shang-Chi’s father was ancient. He did not give off “I’ve watched empires crumble” vibes. Definite DILF vibes, though. Oof.
Like I said, I don’t love origin stories, but I am excited to see this character in more movies. I think the rings present something really unique for Marvel to use in the future, especially with the Avengers. I really hope to get a follow-up film now that we know all the characters - it looks like we will see a lot more of Xialing, but I don’t know in what context. I’d like to see them team up again, as much as she is a damn good Fight Club leader. I’d like to see her character rounded out a lot more, and for Marvel to leave the pandering and “girl power” in the first movie.
As for Shang-Chi and Katy, I think they play off of one another really well, especially in the more vulnerable moments of the movie. They have a really supportive friendship, which I adore. Maybe “saving the world with the power of friendship” is as cliche as “girl power”, but it is (IMO) one of the strongest plot points Marvel has going for them. Steve and Bucky ruined a whole movie when they through three movies worth of “we’re just best buddies” to the wind. Thor and Loki were brothers, but their bond is a highlight of the whole cinematic universe. I appreciate the Captain Marvel/Fury and the Natasha/Fury dynamics, but I am still excited by the potential for a well established m/f friendship in the MCU. There are other things to be said about the habit of big movies to make their male Asian characters somewhat “undatable” (in the context of not making Katy a romantic interest), but honestly I would just follow what Simu Liu wants on this one. I trust him completely with this franchise, he is the backbone of the entire operation. I also think Katy rivals Ned in terms of my favourite MCU best friends.
Bottom line, this is a really strong film for phase 4. I think the sequel will be even better. Every time I think I’m done caring about the MCU, I end up watching another movie and I get sucked right back in.
I think that’s all I’ve got for now. If you made it this far, thanks! Let me know what you thought of the movie as well!
4/5 stars

Movie Review: The Suicide Squad
Tumblr media
Disclaimer: James Gunn has stated in interviews that everything in this movie is a spoiler, for that reason this non-spoiler review will strive as much as it can not to go into spoiler territory and instead give a vague overview...so if you have not or cannot see the movie yet then don't read on until you do.
General Reaction:
Tumblr media
Here's something I never thought I'd say, James Gunn's The Suicide Squad is the best DCEU movie to date and honestly rivals Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight for in terms of the DC movie I personally think is the best...I'm not even joking, it was just that good.
I was actually crying during the final third of this movie, not just because of how emotional the movie got, but they were welling up tears of joy and I could feel myself grinning most of the way through. I've never really taken note of how emotionally invested I have been during a movie but honestly throughout I was cheering, laughing, egging the characters on. I was as invested as I'm sure sports people are with watching sports.
Tumblr media
On the subject of emotion I will say this, if you have favourite characters going into this movie, do not get attached because the body count in The Suicide Squad is so high, and not just with humans, that every time I knew I was liking a character I was then left very sad when they died until the start of that final third when I just stopped saying "I like this character...oh wait they're dead!".
As predicted, because it was reported, the first 30 minutes of the movie is about establishing our main cast and team while culling the huge ensemble cast that may as well have all been wearing red shirts...and some of these characters were great, I posted a minor #emoji review on twitter and one of those characters who were fridged early on is in that review because they were one of my favourites going in.
That's all about that I can really say without going into spoiler territory buy on the whole this cast of characters actually surpasses both the Guardians of the Galaxy movies and the first Suicide Squad for me.
Also, for me at least, it was a little confusing going into this movie wondering if this was a sequel to the 2016 Suicide Squad movie or a soft reboot or reimagining. Based on the fact some of the cast are the same and there are one or two references to previous movies, I'd say it's the same. My logic is, as long as Margot Robbie is Harley Quinn it's the same timeline from Suicide Squad to Birds of Prey and now this.
But yes this is a James Gunn movie, and in truth I have not really cared for James Gunn movies in the past outside of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, didn't really care for the first outside of it being a Marvel movie. But if he was allowed to go full Gunn with The Suicide Squad, I want more of this!
Because I don't really know Gunn's work outside of the superhero genre, I couldn't really tell if some of the notable similarities to the Guardians movies here were Gunnisms or Gunn-Superheroisms, but the music playing over the Warner Bros/DC intro reminded me of Guardians and pretty much anytime there was an old school song playing over a scene, but then surprisingly Gunn does right by his female characters in this movie.
Not just the Suicide Squad members either, there are minor civilians focused on at times in this movie and all three of them along with Amanda Waller have their moments to shine here...compare that to Guardians where the deadliest woman in the galaxy is outmatched by Mantis and it's definitely a step in the right direction for female representation.

But yes there are some Gunnisms I recognise that over here in the U.K. warrant the 15 rating which I think translates to an R-rating in the U.S, and the few but notable crude jokes that are Disneyfied in Guardians but are clearly there anyway.
Speaking of that 15/R-rating, I'm not sure how it works in other countries but in the U.K. with the rating slide that comes up it says "Contains XYZ" which is why it earns that specific rating. For this movie it was a 15 and one of the reasons why it was a 15 is because of gore...to which I just thought "Oh okay, so more heads exploding than the one we had in the first?"
No! There is that, but there is gore, I mean bloody, bloody, at one point having to look away because I may have thrown up otherwise gore! Without spoilers, I won't go say specifically the scene but I will say it involves a confrontation between the two All-Americans in the movie...that's all I'm saying.
Speaking of All-American, the latter half of this movie definitely goes into the corruption of America and it is somewhat political but doesn't bang you over the head with it like Black Widow did for example. It's a great commentary on American corruption and speaking as a Brit about a movie that 99% of the time takes place in, where I'm guessing is South America with Corto Maltease, I want more of this type of political commentary in superhero movies. The Captain America movies were that type of political thriller that honestly aspects of this movie was particularly towards the end.
In all, the action, the drama, the comedy (minus a couple of Gunnisms which I will actually allow) and the cinematography were on point in this movie. The cinematography and how they deal with some transitions between scenes and character interactions were honestly phenomenal, and I never thought I would say that about a James Gunn movie.
Cast:
I've said realistically all I can say about the cast without going into spoilers. James Gunn himself has said that everything in The Suicide Squad is a spoiler and honestly 98% of the movie is definitely spoiler territory. What you have seen in the trailers may feel like a large chunk of the movie, but it doesn't even scratch the surface.
The only thing I will say about who is main or focal and who isn't is, while this is very much an ensemble cast and no one character steals the show or takes centre stage like the first one did with Harley Quinn and Deadshot, here everyone has their time to shine as I said but I will say...look at the main movie posters, not the character ones but the actual promo movie ones, to know who are the focus characters in the movie...that's all I'll say.
But overall every actor is perfectly cast, both the returning cast and new cast. I did not know two thirds of these characters going into the movie. Basically if they weren't the ones who came over from the first Suicide Squad, or Thinker and King Shark, I didn't know who they were prior to this movie.
I also knew a little bit about Starro from Young Justice but I can pretty much guarantee that for what is a kid-friendly animated series, they would not have done what Gunn does with Starro in this movie because he/it/they is terrifying...nightmare fuel, honestly I was expecting to think this character was going to be laughable CGI that would be almost like Star-Lord v. Ronan dance-off in the first Guardians of the Galaxy in terms of stupidity which I hated, but this was, as I said, terrifying and you'll see why because it's genuinely nightmare fuel for me in those scenes.
Recommendation:
I am fully aware this movie is available in America...or will be...simultaneously in theaters and HBOMax. I cannot stress this enough, see The Suicide Squad in cinemas if you can. COVID safety aside there is no reason to not see this in cinemas if you are available to get there. The Suicide Squad demands to be seen on as big of a screen as possible.
I honestly can't say anything bad about the acting, the music, the action, the story, everything is so good. That's not me being biased because I would only be biased for certain characters and actors in this movie, but I'm a Marvel boy at heart.
In terms of my enjoyment and my emotional engagement with a movie, this is up there with X-Men: Days of Future Past and Cruella for me. I'm not going to say this is better than them because those two resonate personally with me whereas, having only seen this movie once, it is very much adrenaline fuelling me at the moment like first viewing Mad Max: Fury Road, which I also love, but it's up there as one of my favourite movies so far this year with Cruella.
That's all I can really say without spoilers, I know I have said a lot but at the same time I have waffled and tried not to delve too much into spoiler territory but that is why I put the disclaimer at the top of the review in case I do.
I am so fortunate I have given myself a mental week this week away from dissertation work to recentre myself after last week, because I will now have time to do a spoiler review as this is a movie that demands a spoiler review.
So that's my review for The Suicide Squad, what did you guys think? Post your comments and check out more DC Movie Reviews as well as other movie reviews and posts.

Intro and About
Welcome to my blog!
This is a (revamped) sideblog for @sureuncertainty as a place for my ramblings about my job, Disney theme parks, my attractions inspired OCs, and other art, writing and various shenanigans!
I’m a queer autistic person with a passion for storytelling, theatre, art, and writing, and a special interest in Disney and its theme parks. Thanks for following along on my journey! My goal for this blog is to be a combination of original content and reblogs from others, including photography, stories, Disney park trivia, and stories from my job. I’m also happy to answer any questions anyone has about working for Disney or about stuff in general!
I am also revisiting an old story of mine, The Curse of Thunder Mountain, based on my favorite Disney ride, so you’ll probably see a lot about that!
My home park is Magic Kingdom, but my favorite is Hollywood Studios! My favorite rides are Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (obviously), the Haunted Mansion, Tower of Terror, (and Guardians of the Galaxy Mission Breakout), and Pirates of the Carribbean! Some of my favorite pieces of Disney media are The Owl House, the Ducktales Reboot, Gravity Falls, Phineas and Ferb, Big Hero 6, Moana, Frozen 1 and 2, Inside Out, and Coco!
I work at Disney World in FL, but my home is the West Coast, and I will forever be loyal to Disneyland Resort (and am actually more familiar with it)! I’m originally from Oregon, and have lived in the PNW my entire life until moving down here just recently to start this new journey! I am currently a Disney College Program participant (which is weird since I’ve been out of college for quite some time), but hope to remain here when my program ends in January.
thanks for reading, and hope you enjoy my page, and ramblings!

How I Would Fix the MCU Movies (in chrono order)
Black Widow is mentioned but there are no spoilers! also this is super long sorry lol
CA:TFA
--More time with the howling commandos- instead of a montage with their battles with sit with them and feel their struggles. we feel not only capt’s grief but everyone on the team when bucky ‘dies’. idk would have loved to see more of a band of bothers bond
Captain Marvel
--I saw/read somewhere that her story could have work really well with a similar structure as CA:TFA and i agree. they were so concerned with making carol look powerful that they forgot to give her the fiery/badass personality we were promised. there was too much telling not enough showing
Iron Man
--Literally Nothing. Perfect. Great Intro to the series.
Iron Man 2
--again really solid movie i wish the villains were a bit more developed by tbh this is my fav iron man movie
The Incredible Hulk
--babes i dont even remember this movie its super cool they keep rossi around from it tho. hes literally the only thing the mcu kept from this monstrosity i would keep a similar plot structure but with mark ruffalo and a better script and tbh a better evrything. cannot tell you where to start with this jesus
Thor
--would have liked to see of the personality thor has later on in the timeline line- but it is interesting to think maybe he developed his humor and friendliness from his time on earth, idk this movie was kinda dull? i mean everything is dull compared to ragnarok and better compared to the dark world so idk how to fix that- maybe less of chris’s weird screaming- definitely less of chris’s screaming
The Avengers
--honestly love this movie-great set up to the team dynamics wouldn’t change anything. i love the nostalgia i get from watching this
Iron Man 3
--another movie i dont really remember but? this is the one with the bunny right? i feel like after iron man 1 the quality of tony’s enemies has gone down hill but i could watch rdj do anything so overall good experience
Thor: The Dark World
--besties what even happened in this movie like, jane babes what are we doing. loki is as amazing as ever tho. but like ‘oh no lokis dead again whatever are we going to do’ i would simply through the whole thing away- keeping jane going to asgard, loki being dramatic, and the relationships of the asgardian gang we get to see. also the reality stone thats pretty important
CA:TWA
--I. Love. This. Movie. my fav in the whole timeline. can you tell im a capt girl? literally the best wow won’t change a thing
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1
--so! much! fun! i love their family dynamics and tbh i love peter quill (we all did until pratt was a dick but)
Guardians Vol. 2
--I wasn’t obsessed with this movie but I cant quite figure out how i would change it- it was visually beautiful and emotionally beautiful but idk something felt off until the very end
Age of Ultron
--hot take- i really like this movie. i like how it completely changes the direction of the series and makes the mcu feel so real, like the friend ship seen- i would have like more clint so his character arc in endgame would have been impactful i dont hate the farm family but man i sure dont love them jesus but yea i love the dialogue and the only thing i would really change is clint’s involve meant. also helen cho deserved to have a bigger part in the mcu
Ant-Man
--super fun! i feel like this movie is great the way it is- a familiar super hero movie when the series was starting to get pretty dense with the lore wont change anything
CA:CW
--i read somewhere this movie was originally going to be steve and sam and the rest of the squad finding bucky and i was robbed. over time the mcu starting telling us how great steve and buckys relationship was instead of showing us. like men can show each other affection marvel that is a thing that happens but tbh i loved this movie- i would change a lot but i still really enjoyed it
Spiderman: Homecoming
--its so cute i love it but I miss andrew garfields peter- he felt more like the comics but besties i love this movie and tom i would just change how ton is characterized to be more comic actuate but also maybe not idk
Doctor Strange
-- tilda swinton owns my heart and sole. but imma be honest i saw this in theaters 3 weeks after a horrid concussion and i remember none of it and thinking about it makes me sick (love head trauma) so imma just leave it how it is
Black Panther
--nothing. its art.
Black Widow
--I’m writing this around an hour after I watched the movie and tbh I dont know how I feel about it. I dont love it yet but im not quite sure why yet- its most likely the pacing it felt a little rushed to me but idk yet ill be able to gather all my thoughts in a later post prolly
Thor: Ragnarok
-- to think i can even dream to improve on anything taika waititi is putting bad karma into the universe. that man is a genius. you can feel just how comfortable everyone is in their characters which makes for a great performance
Ant-Man and the Wasp
--the breather we all needed after iw but i dont think anyone really loved it- no idea how to fix it but yknow it was just bland
Avengers: Infinity War
--I loved it. I loved it so much. obviously there are some bad things here and there but i would not change a thing
Avengers: Endgame
--I hated it. I hated it so much. obviously there are some good things here and there but i would not keep a thing.
(I have in fact written an essay about said topic bc i felt so passionate about it i did not know what else to do)
Spiderman: Far From Home
--I dont know something was off for me with this one- again I think it was a pacign issues but I am not sure how I would change it
I might do the tv shows in another post- but if i do those i want to include the netfilx marvel tv shows as well as the agent carter and agents of shield series(es?)
anyway thank you for reading all of this if you did!
