What started out as a page for practicing expressive biblically accurate faceplates turned into me just doodling stylized ones. I simply started scribbling while trying not to think too much and these happened. Up to this point I've only ever drawn accurate ones so this was a romp into unknown territory.

Ngl I'm starting to feel like a nonzero amount of the fandom reaction towards Cazador, the general trend of "oh he actually isn't scary or intimidating at all, he's a whiny sniveling little bitch baby and it's embarrassing Astarion was so scared of him because of how non-threatening and laughable he is" is hmmm

maybe a bit based in the racist de-masculinization of Asian men and the way that they are often seen as impotent, weak, and incapable of being threatening?

#and i mean i don't disagree that he's a loser #or that his sneering line delivery isn't extremely punchable #HOWEVER #he also is... deeply cruel in a very targeted and personal way #a sadist who dresses it up in the guise of Family #obsessive about his victims and playthings #and hungry for even more power which he WILL use to hurt people #which actually is pretty fucking frightening even if he's also slender and small and young-looking and pretty #i do think some of it is intentional - his obsession with Astarion #his grasping for power and inflated sense of self-importance #his persistent charade of a family and how he uses terror to force his victims to go along with it #these are all very real aspects of abuse that are also bigtime Loser Behavior #and the fact that the person who has the power to hurt and control you is an insecure megalomaniacal self-obsessed loser is part of #the humiliation of this type of abuse #but i also just saw a 'scarier redesign' of cazador that was just straight up A White Man so you know.

Something else fascinating I found actually when I was comparing the Askr trio (knowing Alfonse and Sharena largely match, just a few differences here and there), wanting to get a better look at Anna...

SHE HAS BIG ASS BOOTS?!????? I. COMPLETELY FORGOR ....... it gives her a real sturdy look though. Hm.... (Thinking about what this means for characterization/how I'd draw her, esp w my initial impressions kind of. Being the opposite of this LMFAOOO oops 😥)

OREON - The Prissy Pokémon

1; This Pokémon loves to stash valuable items inside of its fur. Due to this, Oreons are very territorial in the mineral-rich mines they tend to call their homes.

2; These Pokémon tend to be awfully fond of the gems they store in their chest fur to the point of becoming intensely overprotective of it. If they ever lose it, they will bemoan it for decades and swear revenge.

Ok the stuff I planned to do previously is gonna have to wait since I actually remembered to move the image over, but basically-

Byte has a new, (somewhat) original design by @atlasmothss ! (with heavy inspirations from a creature in the singular Roblox game I play)

Instead of being purely void with a very large dress, they have much lighter clothes that actually have separate colors from the body! They also have some eyespots on their wings for intimidation, with the top ones being able to seemingly "focus" on someone. (gotta make sure puralin stays fearful /j)

As for that inspiration, the main body, clothes, ears, and halo all take inspiration from my skin that I use on Aizune (Violet) in Monsters of Etheria, which is oddly enough also important to the origins of Byte, as well as Pixel and Terri who are all VERY connected to each other.

Once again, thank you @atlasmothss for the design, and for dealing with me being completely unable to describe things well without outright showing what I mean!

#pixels lore #also a fun little fact about Byte: even before the redesign they were EXTREMELY soft and fluffy #you couldn't see it thanks to the dress the void color and the fur being smoothed out but it would feel amazing to touch #unfortunately byte would immediately lose their collision on instinct so you wouldn't be able to actually feel anything

can't believe i haven't listened to the entirety of the 2016 album "spirit phone" by the musician and internet presence known as "lemon demon" or perhaps "neil cicierega" until only five days ago. an entire life lived without hearing the funky synth... the dulcet tones... the curated chords... of the song "spiral of ants" pumped directly into ear canals from my personal listening device. i am peace i am joy i am sublime. is there purpose on this earth beyond the monumental task of basking in such glorious creation.

The Chameleon has given many backstories when cornered. He’s the greatest spy the KGB has ever known, a former cosmonaut whose face burned off in a crash, leaving them the perfect blank canvas to paint new identities onto. Or maybe she’s a makeup artist, dedicated to demonstrating her craft to a larger audience. Or maybe they are a shapeshifter whose powers were taken from them, desperately trying to crawl back to what they once were. So here, for you, I’ll give another.

Once upon a time, there was a life model decoy, no different from any other. It recorded its missions for training purposes and was outfitted with an algorithm to allow it to fill in should a controller need a break, but it was not sentient.

And then she met God.

Not just any god, no, her God.

They didn’t have to ask her for offerings, she had only herself and with her new free will she offered that instantly.

Do you know what it is? For any god, let alone your God, to dwell in your skin?

She knew they would part one day. But it did not make the absence hurt any less. What helped was him asking her to explore the world and enjoy her new senses, for him.

It is hard to experience all the emotions of the world when you're an animatronic husk. But it’s so easy to put on another face, and feel it all so safely from behind the mask.

And so she lived, happily ever after.
