Always wanting 2 expand my music knowledge but can’t grasp genre differences well. how do u find new music?? im relying on recs from other people most of the time but stuff like ur davekat music post is so specific and right I’m curious

i getch i getcha, i go thru dry spells where i listen 2 trhe same music over and over and over haha. i struggle with grasping genre diffs too, so i constantly compare artists 2 each other, and try to find music relevant to specific examples of shit i alrdy like. the only genre ive ever explored BY its genre n not specific artists is future funk. good genre.

im a music rabbithole-r by habit bc i just dont fucking understand genres. a lot of my music tastes r based on foundational shit i got into as a kid, like videogames or movies soundtracks, that i dragged out as long as i could.

as an e.g. , i was introduced to "why?" as a kid by an older relative. i got into "odd nosdam" because why? mentions him directly in a song on their first album. n i was like "whos that". i got into "clouddead" because its a collab between yoni wolf ("why?") and odd nosdam ("odd nosdam"). i got into "sole" cus he has a feat on that album. etc etc

got into "tmbg" because of homestar runner. got into "og maco" bc of the 12 bricks meme. got into "anamanaguchi" over a decade ago bc of this video.

it's a rlly fun way to find music🙂

i like to find out what artists are related 2 artists i already like, or what their inspirations are, or who they inspired, and move on 2 them, and do that ad nauseam til i cant anymore. i also do this with music rec'd to me by other people which is sumth u mentioned, which is how i found ppl like pinback/rob crow and lemaitre who are some of my fav artists ov all time.

if u find a single song u like, id recommend sample the entire source album in order, and then the first album by dat artist, or just which ever one has the most interesting album art. maybe. or just click on song titles that look interesting.

if u find a cool ytpmv or mashup, check their channel, check the recs on youtube and open 10 in separate tabs and go thru them one by one bc it doesnt hurt 2 be thorough. and theres so much music out there to listen to. if a band's name, song title, cover art grabs you, listen to it. at worst u frown for a minute and move on, at best u find a lifelong fave.

id rec getting shazam on ur phone so u can grab songs u hear in public.

spotify's smart shuffle is also prety good actually. if u have spotify try making a playlist of songs u like and turning that on also.

if a character you like in something references a song or artist, check them out ASAP. very very fun 2 do can provide so much context 2 the characxter as well.

if you do this kinda shit enough on youtube, your recs start to fill up with <1k view videos from independent artists. that is when you have struck gold

spades slick: .

diamonds droog: doesnt really care because hes not mentally ill nor does he personally know anyone who is mentally ill. he sees mentally ill people on the street. is inclined to disbelieve anything slick is this impassioned about. doesn't care to learn anything about it until slick puts together some kind of debriefing-style presentation about it and medical abuse and the industry. doesn't take slicks word as complete truth but won't bother to debunk it. wants him to stop acting like this

hearts boxcars: heard about it sometime many years ago and passively accepted it while not having any reason to think further on it. at some point he hears about it being a disproven theory, maybe from slick, and noncommittally looks online about it when he remembers/has free time/is in the mood to confirm. feels shocked at the information but knows on a greater level what large industries do in the pursuit of money. moves on afterwards because it's not relevant to his life

clubs deuce: trusts in it and believes one in him to be the reason for his anxiety and bouts of sadness. has been told by doctors and infographics about it. believes he is mentally ill but would never make any big deal about it. eventually does online research and comes to a conclusion that the environment can also be a factor in an individual's mental illness, which the chemical imbalance makes them more vulnerable to. (believes in mental illness as defined in DSM)

problem sleuth: has no reason to ever have heard of it, thinks anyone who gets involved in anything mental health related, such as therapy, must be very mentally ill or has been in an asylum (but holds sympathy for these poor insane people), but if it were hypothetically mentioned in his presence he would internally confirm it to be a supporting factor in female hysteria and would make further speculation on how women's brains must be intrinsically different from male brains as a result.

pickle inspector: thinks its a bit rub but uses it to validate his differences and says that everyones brain chemicals "balanced" or "imbalanced" are what make them all very unique, doesnt care to think about it further

ace dick: thnks its very plausible. probably has seen a therapist or gone to some kind of couples therapy involving wife and has heard of it. has no reason to disbelieve. probably takes pills for mild depression/anxiety on doctor's recommendation and has some kind of noir fanfiction scene about it

itchy: wouldn't focus on one topic long enough to learn about it… he would probably love tik tock…. watching it out loud all day long… after crowbar bans tick tock he switches to youtube shorts and watches a 'pop psychology' video talking about it and takes it as fact. however has no personal reltaion to the topic. it is merely one of many things he sees on a short video and regurgitates to others.

doze: i dont believe anyone has ever exposed him to this topic in any form.he must have a very isolated mind. he may have formed some of his own theories on many topics but i think everyone talks over him most of the time so we would have no way of knowing

trace: only formed an opinion if he heard someone he considers smart talking about it first. otherwise he didn't really think about this

clover: completely irrelevant to his life. he seems to note immediate behaviours only so he can choose some way to act or narrate a situation based on whatever is physically happening. may note trends in a detached way

fin: knows it's true because he thinks some people are just very stupid and others are masterminds from birth. the phenomenon must apply to other variables. tries to remember the name,because he knows a few people who have those kinds of problems in their brain, and then refers to his fellow gang member die, who is crazy in the head, and his fellow gang members eggs and biscuits, who are stupid, and they were born that way so it makes sense that the chemicals in their brain must make them that way.

die: uses it to affirm that there is something extremely wrong with him that makes him fundamentally different from everyone else. goes on and off of various medications that he is recommended to try. probably eventually settles on some kind of cocktail involving medications to offset the side effects of other medications but will sporadically quit the cocktail and experience withdrawals. has therapist appointments that he skips occasionally. passively thinks he will never "get better" and that nothing can ever "fix" him. however is not too concerned about it and often just focuses on whatever goals he has rather than spending time thinking about his mental state

crowbar: thinks it's somewhat plausible, somewhat rubbish, knows that depression is a symptom of vitamin D deficiency and connects it to the 'imbalance' of brain chemicals which gives it some credibility in his mind but he doesn't want to assume before doing his own research. learns about it during his spare time and shows his nuanced, informed opinion saying there's not any one 'big pharma' organisation that promoted the theory while it was widely believed in part due to medication advertisements… statements that his gang members derive very little out of. otherwise regards an individual and their personality first rather than any mental illness. describes his gang members as having "mental problems" due to their behaviour the way mark linkous describes his dog but thinks no further on the statement

snowman: doesn't have much concern for the topic and has no reason to do any research of her own. but if she hypothetically had a close contact suffering from issues she didn't understand she would feel curious and go out of her way to seek information about it from a trusted source (professional individual or written, NON-internet based knowledge). what this source tells her is what she would believe. still doesnt care and wouldnt use the knowledge for any purpose merely her own personal records

stitch: thinks of depression as an emotion, knows some people have more struggles than others, believes everyone can overcome any issue with hard work and mental discipline and would laugh if someone thought they were fundamentally broken

sawbuck: no clue just no clue

matchsticks: not enough information to say

eggs/biscuits: they have both formed their own rudimentary, spiritual ideas of a 'chemical imbalance' from being told all the time how fundamentally stupid they are

it is with a heavy heart that i must announce. the five nights at freddy's movie was really good

sorry for how much of a behemoth this post is im fnaf autism just bear with me also i can't keep my thoughts straight for the life of me so this will be a bumpy ride. as an additional note i got very lucky and had literally 0 spoilers whatsoever for this movie, i haven't even seen the trailer

so first of all: i thought all the changes they made to the plot to make it work for a movie were good decisions, altho some of them did take a minute to actually feel like good changes lmao. once i thought about em a bit more though they made sense.

one of the things i really liked was that they also did include a lot of the things i wanted them to, or more specifically things that you're like "you literally can't have a fnaf movie without these, it just wouldn't be right", like we got mike schmidt, we got fucking VANESSA??? altho she might be in the trailer so that might not be the same reveal for yall as it was for me but still. they heavily alluded to vanny? (altho that's a part i'm kinda sad abt is they didn't /actually/ include vanny, vanessa just makes an offhand comment about how she "wouldn't be much help" if she was around afton and then. comes to help anyways and doesnt have any issues? lame they shouldve had him hypnotise her and then she fought her way out to help mike and abby. or alternatively they couldve used the family restructuring to make vanny be a result of afton giving vanessa osdd-2, like thats kinda functionally what he does with the mask anyways but this would make it more obvious).

also swinging back to changes they made that i liked!! VANESSA AFTON?? like this is the one that took me a while to get used to bc it feels like such a cliche from an outside perspective but it also kind of Super Isn't considering what the original plot is? like all the family restructuring they did makes pretty good sense to me, i do think it loses a bit of the weight having michael be Just Some Guy Whose Brother Happened To Be Kidnapped By Afton Forever Ago and now coincidentally has this weird guy offering him a job as a night guard, but also the og lore. absolutely would not fit into a movie lmao. so i like that they kept the characters everyone wanted around while also rearranging it to keep the spirit of "learning about all of this for the first time through the eyes of a security guard" you get from playing the games. it's fun for people who don't know the lore because it's easy to follow and it's fun for people who /do/ know the lore because they can pull apart all the differences.

oh right back to things they included that i wanted them to. we gotttt chica's cupcake murdering people, we got FUCKING MATPAT? SAYING THE ITS JUST A THEORY LINE? SOUNDING THRILLED OFF HIS ASS TO BE THERE??? i dont like the man and his opinions vis a vis addressing nonbinary characters but. goddamn was that a funny cameo. why couldnt you include markiplier too you fucking cowards. who said that. anyways. oh we kind of tangentially have a canon name for crying child? aka garrett? like idk this one could go either way because like. yeah he's mike's younger brother that died tragically and scarred him for life, makes sense that theyd be the same character in function but also it is technically a different family so who knows.

umm what else. oh this doesnt rlly fall into either category i just really liked it, the intro sequence for all the animatronics? showing what they can /really/ do with the breaking and entering dudes?? that was such a cool sequence i really liked the whole thing honestly. chica being introduced in the kitchen and the dude finding the cupcake then looking back and it's gone? bonnie in the supply closet? foxysprint??? AND FREDDY!! THE BITE!!! in case anyones reading this before watching the movie so they know what to expect: youll know when this moment is coming and if youre watching it at home with friends i HIGHLY recommend having the "was that the bite of 87" clip ready to play right after, they WILL lose their shit. i had it queued up from the very beginning of the movie cause i was like. they can't not include it /somehow/, it's the fnaf movie there has to be A Bite. and sure enough. oh also it's not at the same time but the golden freddy reveal is really good too, they did a good job of setting it up so even if youre already aware of golden freddy conceptually you still go "oh freddy's here? i mean i guess that makes sense he's the leader and all. or wait what happened to his eye why's he only got one? oh. oh i see. ohohohohohohohoho" 100/10. also very funny that they just straight up. MURDER THE AUNT? AND SHE NEVER GETS MENTIONED AGAIN SHE JUST IS DEAD??? the kid isnt like. hey what happened to aunt jane?? i get none of them liked her and with good reason but youd think at least one of em would be like "damn she sucked but she didnt deserve that, rip jane"

oh and the springlocks of course the springlocks. like as soon as we saw aftons name in the cast list we all knew he was gonna get springlocked, it's such a cherished memory for so many of us and there's no way in hell The Fnaf Movie™ wouldnt include afton getting springlocked, they just legally can't leave that out. and they do it pretty well too like yeah if you know what's gonna happen you can see it coming way ahead of time and it's kind of a slow crawl to get there but like. idk i think it still works pretty well. i don't personally like how long the actual springlocking itself took, i think they couldve milked that a little bit less cause i was under the impression that if one springlock failed they All Would Instantaneously And Your Flesh Body Will Become Occupied By A Full Endoskeleton. but no we just get very slow rib beartrap. w/e though still cool and again the leadup to it was really good even knowing exactly how it would end, like just the really slow shuffling of the animatronics towards him? like yeah it's slow and kinda tedious but its also like. theres literally nothing you can do, youre surrounded and defenseless and theyre infinitely faster and stronger than you and now they remember that you killed them. and you just have to sit there and watch them slowly slowly get closer all while trying to talk your way out of it knowing youre fucked. 10/10 they did that part well

oh and that also falls under changes i liked, i liked that instead of "afton tries to escape intangible ghosts by getting into old decrepit suit which then fails and kills him" it was "afton was already in the suit to do murders in and has brainwashed the bots to follow him" wait omg point postponed i just realized that part is from security breach. i thought vanessa was the only thing they brought over from that i didnt even notice that they werent doing the theyre-attacking-all-adults-indiscriminately thing goddamn. omg wait and the fact that the restaurants already closed in this one, it really is just a blend of all the games huh. scott do you see how much more coherent your plot couldve been if there wasnt So much going on. anyways. back to what i was saying. instead of "afton tries to escape intangible ghosts by getting into old decrepit suit which then fails and kills him" it was "afton was already in the suit to do murders in and brainwashed the ghosts into thinking he was their friend so they would help him do murders while possessing the robots. then they get their memories back and the robots turn on him and.. i think deliberately? set off the springlocks, or were just aiming to regular kill him and the springlocks failing was a happy accident? then the robots drag him away as they keep slowly one by one collapsing into him", like the first one made a lot of sense for the game and the timeline and the second one just feels right for this too. it's still his hubris that kills him, still his springlocks, it's just in one version the hubris is "trusting his springlock design to still work after however many years" and in the other its "thinking he has conplete control over the ghosts he killed", plus the ghosts finally get a bit more direct participation in his death than in the other version lol.

one change i did not like. forced het romance. like i dunno i guess im happy for them, both of those characters have certainly earned happy endings by this point so its nice they can get something cutesy. but also. like cmon man it's vanessa and mike do we have to do this she just got stabbed stop holding her hand

oh also this change wasnt really good or bad i just thought it was funny, vanessas a full on cop now? like i get they prolly just dont wanna have two security guards or something but i mean. it wouldve been really easy to just say she was the day shift guard? thatd explain why she had more information on the bots and the place's history than him, why she's always Around, it wouldve even flowed into the vanessa afton reveal pretty well too because like. yeah obviously a guy doing murders would want his main security guard to be someone he trusts and who better than his theoretically brainwashed daughter yknow? as it was she just kinda Showed Up Knowing Stuff And Ignoring Questions and later afton's like "you were supposed to be keeping an eye on him" but like of course Mike was getting dodgy about the weirdo cop loitering nearby for no reason, thats sus as hell lmao. vs "experienced security guard here to show you the ropes" he would have a much easier time trusting that she actually did have his best interests at heart. idk it just seemed like a weird change to me lmao

ummm oh my roommate pointed out the fact that when they tried to springlock abby the suit they were aiming for looked suspiciously like circus baby and abby and baby are anagrams so thats fun. it's hard to tell though if shes intended to be a rework of elizabeth or if vanessa's filling that role now. cause like on the one hand, michael's younger sister whose name is v close to baby, on the other hand, vanessa is afton's daughter. so idk i feel like it could go either way. if abby's elizabeth i guess that negates the thing about garret maybe being crying child's name bc then theyd prolly just be keeping mike's name the same. w/e

oh my god i completely forgot when i was talking about changes to the afton springlock thing, they had him deliberately put his mask on after the other springlocks started releasing and say the "i always come back" line, i thought that was an excellent touch. like he's actively dying a horrific death and is like. no no. im not leaving this bot. this shit is going to suck ass no matter what so i might as well do all i can to ENSURE my soul gets locked in this fuckin thing, go on stab me in the brain lets do this. i will however also say that having him say "i always come back"... before he's even come back the first time? is a little bit weird, i know thats another one of the "we have to include this in the fnaf movie" things so im not mad but just in the moment it def flows a bit weird. like mf you don't even have one example of that yet much less several to be saying "always" about

OH AND THE BIGGEST ONE. THE ANIMATRONICS. theyre so good. like im so glad they went all in on that, i think they probably knew that if there was one single thing they had to get absolutely 100% right to avoid a fan uprising it was those and by god did they deliver, theyre so big and so unsettling and so fun. chica's wink at abby was the best part of the movie no questions asked. or alternatively bonnie falling over after they built the fort. like theyre all just so good. OH MY GOD OR IN CHICA'S INTRODUCTION SEQUENCE WHERE YOU CAN SEE HER JUST. SCOOTING BY THROUGH THE VENT?? THAT WAS THE FUNNIEST THING OF ALL TIME HELLO???

god. but yeah i was honestly expecting it to be a lot worse than it was. also this mike is a bad brother/dad figure. but i guess in the games he also kind of is the pinnacle of bad brother so i mean it couldve been a lot worse. theres definitely some rough parts, i mightve mentioned this already but i felt like a few of the dramatic pause things were a bit too drawn out, like i said the springlocks locking is one good example of that but another that i REALLY found slow was like. in the opening we watch a guy get turbomurdered by the swirly blade mask and it takes. way longer than i feel like was necessary. also unnecessary: a jumpcut a second from scared eyes to swirly blades to hands fumbling and repeating during that. oh another thing that was weird to me, why was mike so insistent on sleeping specifically at night? to the point of deliberately sleeping on the job? like i get he wanted to revisit the kidnapping dream but like. presumably he could dream just as well during the day, no? done his night shift then once it was up rolled out a sleeping bag for a quick powernap before heading home? idk that just felt. forced to me

more random things, i am sad we didnt get a whiff of henry emily (my fringe theory was that their twist to change it from the games was they were gonna make henry be evil, rip to that idea) or the puppet/charlie, and kinda sad they changed the kid possessing golden freddy to be a boy like. we love cassidy and her Undying Rage Towards Afton's Soul smh why would you get rid of her. also loved balloon boy, kinda wish mangle had gotten like a similar level appearance but thats w/e. oh also while i did appreciate the low gore level there were also a few times where it was a bit weird how minor the injuries the dead people had were. like this man just had his face put in a blender mask and he just has like. some forehead gashes or whatever? he should look like someone stirred up jello

anyways with that gross thought i think i am out of things to say about the movie for now. if anyone else watched it already and somehow read all of this blease tell me your thoughts

thats marisa kirisame, self-proclaimed ordinary magician, and shes the series deuteragonist! i love her to pieces

she first showed up in the second title, touhou fuumaroku ~ the story of eastern wonderland., which was the first game in the series to be a shmup and the first to have dialogue, so in many respects you could consider her basically around since the start of the franchise. in it, she appeared as a boss fight, but from then on she became the secondary playable character option. shes appeared in more games than reimu has by now actually!

marisa is a human from the human village in gensoukyou who ran away from home to pursue magic. she lives in a shop* she set up in the forest, where she spends her time researching magic and danmaku to improve her skills.

personality-wise, marisa could be best described as tomboyish (i hate this term too but its the quickest way to get her deal across), especially near the beginning of the franchise. she's talkative, quippy, and confident in herself. her trademark manner of speaking includes a lot of "-ze" at the end of phrases, just to hammer this in. as a kid she often behaved in rude or impulsive ways, but in the later parts of the series she's matured quite a bit, and comes across a lot more well-adjusted than reimu in many regards.

speaking of which, marisa is a fun contrast to reimu in tons of ways. although her laissez-faire attitude often makes her come across as rather lackadaisical compared to reimu's jaded, practical outlook on her role in gensoukyou, marisa is much more free-spirited, self-driven, and passionate about her craft. as doc has phrased it in this very very good stream (which i highly recommend as an intro explanation to the franchise despite its length), marisa is "an incredibly hard worker, and doesnt want anyone to know it." compared to reimu, we get narration from marisa's perspective very often, and get a lot of insight into her outlook through it. she serves as the emotional intelligence and learned experience to contrast with reimu's pragmatism, making them a fantastic duo dynamic as the protagonists of the franchise.

she does a lot of research into how to improve herself by analyzing the spells of other characters in the franchise, and determining how best to incorporate their patterns into her own moveset of danmaku—you could consider her an "open source programmer" of magic. her most well-known spell card, love sign "master spark", is a danmaku pattern she borrowed from yuuka kazami, while adding her own touches like the extra star bullets to truly make it her own.

also because i talked about trans subtext for like every other one of these infodumps i should mention she has a lot of that. her given name is made up of extremely unusual kanji (like the "ma" being taken from "mahou" meaning magic), especially compared to her very straightforward last name, which makes it really likely that she chose a name for herself. not to mention the whole "running away from home because your family wont let you be a magician" thing is ripe for analogy. also she lives in the forest and scavenges mushrooms and learns magic what more explanation do you want from me

theres probably more i should add about marisa because shes got so much depth but i cant think of more to elaborate on right now. shes great. if you get into touhou you will see a whole bunch of her, and she will make you love her without fail!

*she calls it a shop, but no one seems to show up and buy anything since it's in the middle of nowhere, nor does she seem like shes interested in selling whatever she has on hand in there.

What can I expect from this blog?

This blog is dedicated to my special interests, the Powerpuff Girls and Gorillaz. These often intersect, which is natural since they share a universe!

What do I post about?

I have a few different things I post regularly, all centered around the aforementioned special interests! I make art, theories, and post random facts when they pop into my head! ummm... hi. so i kinda fell off the face of the earth lmao. as i predicted, but still. sorry bout that. i really have no excuse except that im lazy asf lmao. so uh, with that out of the way, what have i been up to during the past 2 almost 3 months? well, im all caught up on eric’s audios now. umm there’s so so SO much to talk about so imma just say a few things. first of all, i am DOWN BAD for avior lmao. the audio where he revealed his secret was AWFUL. because its the way that i squealed and celebrated at the beginning when they kissed and the PROMPTLY regretted all of my life choices. umm inversion was also incredible. eric really needs to make his audios into a tv series. i have listened to some of his qnas and the sort and i know he really wants to maintain the medium of having everything be from a sort of listener’s pov? but like, i feel like it would be a cool concept to film the tv series like from our pov? idk idk. but i NEED it in my life. also i just wanted to insert a few of my random thoughts about what a few of the characters sound like because i SWEAR. hear me out. i think that sam looks like jean from aot and hux looks like joe from sk8. those are the only 2 that im like, this is a fact, the rest idk. maybe damien looks like the main guy from fruits basket? idk his name lmao for some reason im not a big fan of romance animes unless theyre bl lmao. i also joined the redacted records discord, but i have no motivation to ever go on it kind of like tumblr lol. um um um but aside from redacted, i also started listening to 2 other asmrtists. im wondering if anyone else listens to them. they arent quite like eric in that they do more basic boyfriend audios, but theyre still amazing. one is midori audios. highly highly recommend. he has a lovely voice and he does tsundere characters sooo well. he actually has kind of a tsundere series running atm. i LOVE tsunderes so much oh my goodness. another one of his audios that i absolutely love is one of his jealous best friend audios. havent listened to it in a while tbh but i cannot recommend enough. his personality is also very adorable and it comes through in some of his more wholesome characters. ok ok enough about midori the other one is ash asmr. ok this man? i can’t. he also has an amazing voice and the cool thing about him is that all of his characters are basically himself with a few changes. like for example, all of his characters’ favorite ice cream flavor is vanilla. he also has an absolutely adorable personality that shines through even more than midori because all of his characters are basically him. my favorite ice cream flavor is also vanilla, and i used to always joke about how i would never find another person who shared this opinion, but then ash waltzed into my life lol. according to what he has said in his audios, he also has a good sense of style, he said he likes a sort of retro aesthetic (he also knows what cottagecore is so like...) he has tattoos, piercings, he likes earrings, necklaces, RINGS, he said his favorite accessories are rings so. omg the only problem is that he lives in canada. another thing that i have recently discovered is the wonderful world of vtubers. i stumbled upon nijisanji, specifically nijisanji en, specifically the 2 boy groups, noctyx and luxiem. im currently watching through their debuts and then ill start tuning in to their streams. i love all of them so much already. lets see. out of all of the boys, ike is my favorite. he seems so organized, prepared, smart, well spoken. i only speak english unfortunately, but he sounds pretty good when he speaks japanese, like he doesnt sound robotic or anything he sounds fluid. and of course he sounds great when speaking swedish. i love his aesthetic and he has such an adorably calming voice and gorgeous eyes. in noctyx, my favorite is fulgar because he is SUCH A NERD LMAO. and he reminds me of myself. as you can probably tell by this extremely long post hehe i love ranting about the things that i like, and usually, when i like something im like a sponge. i scour for information and soak it all in. i also love vox. and i mean who doesnt? the lord himself. beautiful voice, aesthetic, very regal. whats not to love? also i ship vox and ike lmao. if you havent seen this video by one of the clippers (i think thats how you would say it? im still learning all of the vtuber lingo lmao that makes me sound so old i swear im young im 18 lol) anywho the video is called something like vox and ike are soulmates and it is the best thing ive ever seen. its basically just 10 minutes of vox and ike sharing a braincell. ever heard of finishing each other’s sentences? more like finishing each other’s memes lmao go watch it now istg. umm mysta. oh dear lord mysta. he is so chaotic lmao i love him so much. shu is so wholesome (as far as i can tell) he seems very uh seiso? unseiso? i always get them confused lol. in terms that i can understand he seems very clean, i dont think he really swears. his debut stream was hilarious, especially because i watched i right after uki’s and the contrast was great. and last but not least out of luxiem, luca the innocent baby, reminds me very much of myself. hes so happy go lucky, just pogging through life like an absolute champ. now for the rest of noctyx. i dont know them as well, but alban is absolutely adorable, i feel like hes kind of like everyone in nijien’s child lol. him and sonny saying nyo gives me life. speaking of sonny his impressions are INSANE, im also fairly new to the anime scene (ive only seen aot, i just started season 4, and mha, im almost done with season 3, and im aware of a bunch but im still very new) but yeah so i dont really know if theyre accurate or not, but they sound pretty good to me. also the way that he says arigato (oh man i hope thats how you spell it) is so cute. i also ship sonny and alban because of a clipper video that i saw which was just alban and sonny saying nyo, sonny dying because of albans cuteness (and his oh shoot i think its onii-chan? onee-san oh god idk im so bad dont hate me please im trying anywho what i was trying to say was that sonny likes being called onii-chan or onee-san) umm then uki. his debut was amazing i love his song. the lyrics, the visuals, his voice, the latin, all of it was absolutely beautiful. and yeah i have heterophobia as well lmao. the thing about uki is that i feel like he is so sweet but with the way that his voice sounds, it would be really unsettling if he said something sinister. like the delivery would be some calm and stuff? idk idk. i also also ship uki and fulgar obviously. they both outwardly simp for each other and can bond over their love for bl. and last but certainly not least, yugo. kind of like luca, seems super happy go lucky and constantly excited and energetic. now their debut songs. i like hope in the dark the most, i love the classy broadway vibes that it gives me. im a dancer so. it kind of really hits home. and stuck in the abyss, though it isnt my fav of the 2, i have more thoughts on it. their use of yugo’s higher voice i think was genius, it makes that section almost ethereal? idk if that would be the right word but you get what i mean. and then the immediate transition into sonny’s voice is a great contrast. ok like i said, im a dancer and a nerd, i got thoughts on this lol. anywho, sonny’s voice is very powerful and perfect for that contrast. uki got the rap part which i thought was interesting, especially after hearing deja vu, i was surprise they didnt use his incredible voice for any actual singing? but he still absolutely slayed the rap so im not complaining. the last thing i have to say i promise. fulgars section. im not a huge fan of autotune, but i feel it makes sense since hes a cyborg and stuff so ill let it slide. wowowow that was a lot sorry about that this is what i mean when im passionate about something i can literally go for HOURS about it.

Has anyone heard of a pill called Ichor? - A.K. Kullerden

"EXCEL THINE SENSES"

a man named Dale becomes intrigued by a televangelist with strange mannerisms, orders mysterious pills, and he and his roommate Al end up in a deep rabbithole he's not sure if they can get out of. heres what i thought of it. spoilers under the cut!

BEST WAY TO EXPERIENCE THIS BOOK CLUB: entirely blind to the overarching plot. read the pasta yourself and then come back here. this book club is pretty disjointed and i do not apologize. the pasta is also written really well and uniquely so i highly recommend. feel free to discuss the story in the notes! its a bit of a long read especially compared to most creepypastas but its absolutely worth it. and it doesnt even have any unnecessary slurs in it! (unlike SOME pastas *glares at glitchy red*)

READ ON?: at the very least creepypasta.com, not sure about anything else. i read it on my ipod touch. yknow how it is! tws for forced drugging, vomit, mind control, bugs under skin, and death. [🔗]

WELL WRITTEN?: yes

EASY READ?: depends on attention span -- takes at least an hour according to creepypasta.com

RECOMMEND?: absolutely. its wonderfully crafted and it had me hooked the whole time

a pill called ichor is told first-person through journal entries, transcribed conversations, and audio logs. right off the bat the descriptions of the strange mannerisms of the preacher on tv had me just as intrigued as dale. what was up with the scratching? what was the new box? why did he freeze like that? so many questions already. the way the whole bee and honey things unraveled were absolutely stellar. the imagery is so strong that i could vividly picture most parts of it each time they came up. the entirety of siphos is so wonderfully foreshadowed throughout and all ties up neatly in the end. carrie is admittedly kind of a nothing character but tbh i dont mind all too much? it helps with the worldbuilding and works as a nice foil to als feigned ignorance. the bit with the mention of the vacuum packing trash in als room is also brilliant -- i didnt think too much of it as i started my post-read skim to write this, but it clicked when i remembered that the ichor that kicked the whole thing into motion were also vacuum-packed. i love how even when al was on the fast track to Literally Dying in one of the most gruesome ways possible because of something so nightmarish dale still wanted to save his friend. and he did! wonderful. truly wonderful. the descriptions of the worms/siphos under the duos skin were also horrendous, but like in a good way. in an effective way. thinking on it now the mentions of the ancient hole-punched corpses could either have been that byron guy just Completely losing it or maybe like. the siphos breaking through the other explorers??? idk. my brain works sometimes. the realization where dale figured out the weird yellow shit in the ichor capsules was honey was also super well crafted, it felt so natural. and also shoutout to how dale surfs wikipedia and then infodumps about peru it was both a really effective and simple way to get exposition across and also very funny to me on like an inherent level. hes like "hey i might end up dying but uhhh heres some shit about mountains" and honestly thats awesome. autism slay. i know this sounds entirely incoherent but i am just Like This about things. AND THE PART WHERE AL FORCES A PILL DOWN DALES THROAT IN HIS SLEEP that kind of shit usually doesnt really do anything to me but ill be damned if it didnt here the stakes raising like that are insane. the words in the back of the brain are also super effective and i love the comment on how theyre like a waltz. fuckign awesome. the "first get outta my journal" bit was a much-needed bit of humor in the midst of the suspense and terror. beautiful all around. etc etc im tired suorry. very good. i cant put the whole plot in here bc the way its told makes my brain refuse to put it any other format bc i like the original too much and also im hoping anyone whos still reading might decide to pick it up and somehow immediately forget everything ive said here so they can still go in somewhat blind. bonus points for the plot starting a day before my birthday bc im biased like that. tee hee

Hello it is possible I am blind, but in the age spreadsheet (which is incredible I could never), are there birthdays? I know some people have canon birthdays, but not many actually lmao, and I was wondering if you had a list? For anyone and everyone with a canon birthday

Any known birthdays - and there are actually quite a few, plus more that can be put in approximate ranges thanks to airdates - are included in the chart!

(For reference, the chart in question and several related ones can be found via this currently pinned post of mine.)

In the cell with any given characters name, if they have any other names (by way of having changed them for any reason such as marriage, amnesia, and in at least one case ‘adoption’), along with their Rider Names, they’re noted in a ‘note’.

You can see these on desktop by clicking on the cell, and it should appear next to it.

(I very heavily recommend against using mobile to view the age chart, or the order charts, because they are very large and unwieldy in a narrow format. Plus, it’s harder to interact with the notes on mobile, since it involves long-pressing the cell.)

In any case, those notes also feature known birthdays! There are surprisingly a lot of them - many of which are gleaned from things like drivers licenses and profiles shown on screen.

Yeah, a lot of people act differently when they're behind a mask or otherwise anonymous, but with Taro it's like flipping a switch to going absolutely ham.

Yes, he's able to be kick-ass when he's in civilian mode, but he has explicitly said he 'does not hit people'... and yet comes out fists, swords, and gun swinging the Second he transforms.

Well, okay, the first thing he does when he transforms is put on a show with a whole procession, somehow, but the second thing he does when he transforms is go completely ham.

Taro does the 'hardcore training' thing in civilian form, too - we saw that in the Taro & Tsuyoshi episode with the onigiri. But not the way he does as Don Momotaro.

I guess it's more the juxtaposition of exactly how different he becomes that's what's getting people.

My #1 post of 2022

So, I’ve been working on this for the last few weeks, and have finally finished it!

The pattern is from the wonderful folks at @shitpostsampler, and I love them for all the creative work they do to help folks make other creative work happen!

The original pattern uses violets for the lettering, and blue/greens for the border, but I decided to go with a more AO3-y color scheme, and swapped in red for text, grey for most of the border, and a really nice dark red-violet for the border accents. I’m really proud of how this turned out!

(Granted, now i have to figure out how to frame it, but that shouldn’t be too terribly hard given I have incredibly easy access to frames and mats at work lol)

Now, to reward myself for finishing this project with finishing another project, namely one of the fics that I procrastinated on in order to make this cross stitch calling myself out on procrastinating on working on my fics.

Omfg imagine trying to diagnose someone with something just cause they spaced out like that’s so weird. I haven’t ever actually seen monbebes do that but I guess all fandoms have a few weirdos out there who love to do that shit 😭😭 and yeah it was this video of millie Bobby brown and one other actor, idk his name lol, and he like noticed her fidgeting in an interview and the edits I see always make it seem so sad and like I think she deals with anxiety, but I just don’t think we gotta be making edits every time she may show a symptom of that and point it out??

Also once I was on YouTube looking at kpop videos and then I saw a video recommended to me that was like ‘ jin getting hurt and sick moments’ and it had I think 500k views and i was so confused as to why anyone would make a compilation video of someone being in pain. Like okay if it was a fictional character that’s fine I guess but for a real human- that’s really strange I’m sorry.

Harley's Desi (indian subcontinent diaspora)!

based on my gay community mentor from when i was first figuring out i was trans (was also desi and a trans man, super cool and helped me during one of my lowest times. much love if youre still following! <3)

his hair is sometimes hard to get right bc like, desi hair tends to fall between straight and curly, but with sooo much volume, it’s so gorgeous

i actually looked up radd's design for harley (click here), along with the only other fanart of harley at the time (click here), before coming up with mine, and i liked radd's design, but i didnt wanna fall into the "black man = deep voice" hole, but also didnt wanna make a tumblr white sexyman podcast design lmao (even tho the VA for harley at the time was hella white and even the current VA ajgsfjkhaha)

Love is Korean, as hinted in the show through her name (Nari).

originally love was tall because i wanted a tall asian lady, but alas. also i thought she was older (the shock when you find out she doesnt know the foundation's reputation for death o-o). you can see her design got a little more soft and energetic to reflect the show's hints that she's like, around 20 or something. i love her <3

love's hair is based on like, my personal experience with having long shiny asian hair. HAIRTIES DONT STAY. every day it would just slip down slightly and make that stupid muchroom shape lmao.

also hair is SUPER IMPORTANT in a lot of asian culture, even in modern day, so long hair bc she's close to her family and still figuring out how to be independent and stuff. also it just looks nice on her, i think she can kick ass with long hair

I never actually decided on a specific background for lanc deeper than "Asian", maybe Laos on his dad's side? but I like to think he's pretty americanized (like me lol), so it's not something he thinks about too much.

i honestly don't have much to say on lanc? his design has changed the least, tho i draw him with stubble more often now. also i super project onto him lmao

Klein is white.

her design was based on my boss at the time (and one of my coworkers), who was super charismatic and has a perfect mix of optimism and exhaustion, and who was also fat, and no less wonderful of a person for it. i think a lot of fandoms have a culture of fatphobia (coughmcytcought) and i want to encourage fat characters and designs in our fandom, because hey! we exist!

klein is also the hottest character in FUA

i keep forgetting her scars hfdjkhfd, but yeah she seems reckless enough to have shit blow up in her face (the singing rock that was basically a sound grenade, anyone?) and shes been part of the foundation for awhile

self-aware lightleap au where she loses her sister pouncestep prematurely and realizes she has no other relationships in her life so she turns resentful towards shadowsight (the only one their parents ever really showed strong love for, ignores the hardships he goes through including dying like twice) and becomes obsessed with getting attention from anyone to make more bonds. more under the cut

we know lightleap is a very non character right... there is no reason for her or pouncestep to exist really at all? that sort of bugs me and i love making twisted morally gray character aus so this is my (and my friend’s) attempt to make her interesting. i havent been able to stop thinking about this so i think its working

(this entire au is inspired by the song hansel by sodikken, recommend listening. this is also written in the mindset of a nonexistent amv so things that happen are paced in terms of lines and stanzas)

she goes through several mental “phases” in this au, starting with heavy resentment and jealousy towards shadowsight. she knows all of whats happened to him and what he’s done and sacrificed, but her views are so skewed at this point she sees it as him doing it for attention. she doesnt tell him her thoughts until later though, when mothwing joins shadowclan and is openly rude and undermining him constantly. until then though she just has nasty nasty thoughts about him

she’s also obsessed with getting pouncestep back, at least having a conversation with her for once after her death. this is obviously hard since the moonpool is frozen over so she delegates a lot of her time at the moonpool of her own accord trying to break the ice. she uses it to get away from her own mind, and to brainstorm ways to “become interesting” in the minds of her clan/”the reader” (whichever you prefer, she just wants to not be a background character anymore and is desperate) which get more and more uh.. lets say unconventional as she spirals

later on her attitude towards her brother 180s and she starts sucking up to him immensely, trying to help him out and interact with him more in an effort to get more involved in general. she thinks her only way to do this is by joining him as a medicine cat, so she starts by giving him flowers and other plants she finds on patrols and eventually graduates to job shadowing him. she even puts a customary flower in her fur (black roses, symbolizing despair and obsession) but is never officially named a medicine cat or even an apprentice. technically its just what she does in her spare time (though she is bad at it and doesnt understand any of what she thinks she’s supposed to do), but the rest of shadowclan has fairly negative views on it, seeing the flower decoration a mockery/straight up lying about her status. she doesnt mean to cause harm by it, though, she’s just really messed up mentally. she starts to idolize shadowsight and copies his every move, alienating herself and her clanmates in the process. people start to think shes like a “shadowsight 2″ but she takes this as a positive change. shadowsights interesting right if hes interesting and shes another him then shes gotta be interesting too!!! nah

so many more thoughts on this but i have to conclude somewhere or i will never stop and this will quickly become boring to read. bye! hope u liked

Hello there! I wanted to ask you why you don't want that BBC Sherlock fans interact with your Art? I'm a BBC fan, but I'm a fan of canon and other Sherlock interpretations too. Furthermore, I don't want to offend you, so maybe I can understand.

ok so disclaimer at the start: im not. mad at you for sending this ask; if i sound angry explaining this its because the show breaks my heart and the things eggs benedict has said in interviews make my blood boil but like i do want to give u a fair explanation

also. PLEASE if anyone wants to re/blog this just dont. i dont want this to take off in any way i just. want to explain why the show makes me uncomfortable.

i did kind of explain in the tags on this post: [link] but i think i need to fix my theme bc i dont think it shows tags on desktop so i'll explain again. i actually have. a lot to say about it and im gonna put a longer explanation under a cut but basically:

TLDR; i think both the show and its stars are really ableist homophobic and racist (mr cummerbund is especially monstrously ableist and even if you dont read the rest of the post i do highly recommend you look up what hes said about autistic people before continuing to support the show) and i just. dont want ppl who like it interacting with me

but i also think the show itself really is. the antithesis to the original stories on all fronts and just utterly lacks the humanity and compassion the og stories were full of and changed the public perception of the character of sherlock holmes significantly for the worse.

sherlock holmes was never meant to be an asshole and is in fact consistently an incredibly sweet kind and sincere person full of compassion and consideration for others in the stories and it just breaks my heart that the b/b/c version threw everything good about the books out and made everyone think holmes was an asshole who doesnt give a shit about others when thats Never who he was in the first place.

and then all the gay baiting pisses me off bc holmes is really heavily coded as gay in the og stories imo but its hard to talk about it bc the concepts been ruined for a lot of ppl bc of the show.

and thats basically it.

i shouldnt have to explain why this is fucking horrible. as a gay man and as someone whos both autistic and adhd i find his comments like. legitimately monstrous for a lot of obvious reasons.

i shouldnt have to explain why its horrible to say that alan turing “wasnt camp” so it’s ok to not address the fact he was gay. i shouldnt have to explain why its horrible to compare autistic people to frankensteins monster or say that we’re “all about bodily functions” or that autistic ppl are permanent mental one year olds or that someone who’s brilliant can’t possibly be autistic because it’d give us “false hope.” (and calling sherlock a sociopath is a whole other can of worms idk if i can even begin to unpack)

all of this is legitimately horrible and evil on its own and if you cant understand that i really REALLY dont want u interacting with me at all and would prefer you just block me right now.

but its also really hurtful because it's really obvious to me from the og stories that holmes is both autistic and adhd. he’s actually one of the most textbook accurate complex and human depictions of someone whos autistic and adhd ive ever seen in my entire life and it just. Really hurts that the show deliberately refuses to acknowledge it and tries to take away representation we genuinely already HAVE in the books because it would give us “false hope.”

you Cannot replicate holmes as a character and his thought process without recognizing he’s both adhd and autistic. holmes has nonverbal episodes, he has intense hyperfocus and special interests (watson actually describes his interests in stuff like violins and criminology as him having made a “special study” of each and holmes describes his interest in criminology as his “special subject” at one point)

his thought process as described in the books also very much mirrors adhd “ive connected so many dots so quickly that i cant even really explain how i got here and nobody knows what im talking about because there was only one passenger on this runaway train of thought and its me and i wasnt even fully aware of the whole ride either” where like, he’ll make observations in an instant n then have to walk back and figure out how to explain things again (for example he does that a lot in the og book version of a study in scarlet)

and he does tend to take things literally quite a bit. there’s a few times in the stories (like the gloria scott and when watson gives holmes his brothers pocket watch in the sign of the four) where people will ask him to use his observational skills on them and he’ll do it to the best of his ability because he took their request completely literally n did exactly what they asked, without recognizing some of the things he was observing might be too personal or might be upsetting (and when he recognizes that he Has said something that upset them he genuinely apologizes and tries to make up for it and walks them through how he knew these things because he genuinely did not mean to upset them and actually cares about how they feel)

and this isnt even like. everything that makes it incredibly and unambiguously clear hes autistic and adhd. but this post is like so fucking long already but basically. i dont think there’s any room for doubt that he’s autistic and adhd in the og stories and its such a pervasive obvious and intrinsic part of his character that if someone can’t recognize it its usually because theyve got some incredibly awful ableist hangups about autistic and adhd people and dont think we’re human beings (like mr fucking cumberpatch)

and this isnt even getting into the horrible misogyny lesbophobia and biphobia with irene adler, the racism in episodes like the blind banker, the racist and misogynistic comments ma/rtin free/man made about lucy li/u, and all the other horrible shit associated with that show.

there’s quite a few things in some of the og stories that havent aged well bc they were written in the 1800s and i fucking hate it but like. theres still a lot of good in them and its INFURIATING and heartbreaking to me that the b/b/c had every opportunity to update the stories for the present day but they refused to and actually KEPT some of the things that hadnt aged well while simultaneously tossing out basically everything good about them.

there’s a lot about that show that i will never forgive and i could go on but im gonna. stop here bc this post is a mile long and i should maybe just make a 5 hour long video essay about it but whatever.

basically. i think if you can read all this and know all this about the show and still like it i would really rather you just. leave me alone

and since a lot of this is present in the show itself i dont really, fully believe that ppl just arent aware of the problems with it even if they hadnt read mar/tin free/man and eggs benedicts monstrous comments in interviews. like yeah yeah you can enjoy things critically but after a certain point it just. crosses a line and for me personally this show really does and i would really rather ppl who like the show just. not interact with me.

I love how people will defend crwby when they give jackshit about rep and their fans. Like with clover (i know they didnt make it official but just look at eddies stupid tweet). They fucked up, it was queerbaiting, so the best course of action is to imply that harriet had feelings for clover and bad mouth the dead man. They could have just say "everyone of us was acting stupid and he died" nooo clover wouldnt leave qrow alone and robyn says later that clover is the lesser huntsmen. They could just say "hey clover was like a brother to harriet, she was his second in command, this hurts her very much" nooo clover was important for harriet, you know important. How does that even fit? They didnt have the balls to stand to their mistake and write about it, so they just twisted and turned so they could ignore what they wrote the last volume. Brilliant (and yes i will forever be bitter that qrow doesnt take responsibility for causing clovers death and just whines about his semblance)

Honestly, the way that Qrow/Clover was handled is a big blight on the company in my opinion. There's a great blog called @fairgame-was-queerbait where you can see lots of information about why Clover and Qrow was one hundred percent queerbaiting, and people are right to be mad about it.

The way that the writers really spent their time pointing fingers instead of actually admitting that they messed up... And the way that members of the fandom have been refusing to recognize it as queerbaiting, BYG, or problematic has also been staggering. This was something that deeply hurt LGBTQ+ RWBY fans, especially mlm that weren't otherwise represented. Eddy Rivas has apologized for the hurt fans went through, but not in a way that recognized that the hurt had been a direct result of their actions. And whether that action was directly intentionally contributing as a writer or just not checking the animation and marketing or letting the show go as is despite seeing it and knowing how it'd be taken, or never telling people not to get their hopes up and that the ship was not intended despite knowing that it was quickly becoming one of the more popular RWBY ships is besides the point.

Fans have been quick to say that obviously FG was unintentional and that Clover couldn't have been meant to be read as gay because "the writers would never do that," while ignoring Miles Luna's discussions regarding Pilot Boi. He had been told about how Bury Your Gays was a very harmful trope and therefore decided not to include Pilot Boi being gay, but then 'was kicking himself' over not doing it anyway because Pilot Boi was popular. The fact that these fans are so delusional to believe that the writers would never do something, when they literally expressed that they wished they'd done it. Why is it so hard to believe that the writers would cross that line with Clover when one of them openly regretted not crossing that line earlier?

(Although as a side note, I wouldn't necessarily go so far as to say that Qrow 'caused' the death of Clover. Everybody lost braincells there in that fight and he definitely wasn't without sin and I for sure think he ought to have been guilty and taken responsibility for having broken Clover's aura, plus letting the blame fall to the guy who was literally fecking murdered was terrible. But Qrow didn't cause Tyrian to kill Clover, and he didn't cause Robyn to start up the fight in the first place when he and Clover were both being fairly peaceable at first.)

But! The way that RWBY said 'let's drag Clover after his death, imply things about his character that we never showed to be true, and have Robyn of all people say Qrow's just better than him.' Also, if Qrow really freaking cared about Clover in the show enough to keep that pin (that by all rights should've gone to the Ace Ops,) maybe he could tell Robyn to keep Clover's name out of her thin mouth, and be actually angry that she started the whole damn fight in the fricking first place. Honestly, I didn't like Clover at first and I don't ship Fair Game, but God almighty, the frustration I've felt watching the fandom start harassing people who liked him or the people that are mad about queerbaiting... Now I do like the idea of Clover and enjoy writing for him, and it's actually because of all the haters. So congrats to the RWBY simps, they've turned me into a Clover fan.

And if Qrow ends up with Robyn, I will... Post angrily about it. Using caps lock. After I finish vomiting over having to see it.

Here's the link to fairgame-was-queerbait again, I'd recommend anyone who wants to see the tweets and the screenshots check it out, I was so glad to find their blog and be able to see all this stuff for myself. It's honestly staggering that people are denying that there was queerbaiting, and saying that fans just 'invented this ship in their heads' or have no right to be upset. BTW, nobody better try that invalidating stuff in my comments. I'll block on sight.
