WHO IS THIS SAULTRY LITTLE BINCH

ok this is my extremely unpolished breakdown of MESSMER THE IMPALER from the shadow of the erdtree trailer

The first thing that stands out about this dude is that he’s wearing EVERY possible symbol of treason against the Erdtree: SNAKES and FLAME

Messmer has snakes on his sigil, helm, and 2 snake friends who have dragon wings. Volcano Manor is known for its statues of winged serpents, but the wings are feathered, not dragonlike. these snakes are bright red-orange and are very unlike the Great Serpent we all know and love, who has a heavier build and is blue-grey in color. 

Regarding snakes as symbolism, the Duelist Helm description reads,

“Bronze helm decorated with innumerable snakes. Worn by gladiators who were driven from the colosseum. The wearer becomes a slightly easier target for foes. The snake is viewed as a traitor to the Erdtree, and the audience delighted in seeing these bronze effigies beaten and battered.”

We can bet that whoever is associating themselves with snakes is a confirmed Erdtree hater (Rykard, hello!!!) or perhaps, this dude could even be part of the reason why snakes are considered traitorous in the first place?

In addition to us seeing Messmer wield fire, this line from the trailer (which I think is spoken about Messmer but not by Messmer) implies that he’s known for his fire: “Those stripped of the Grace of Gold shall all meet death. In the embrace of Messmer’s flame.” 

It’s well known that flame is in many ways a taboo power; particularly the flame of the Fell God, which has the power to burn the Erdtree (the cardinal sin). Messmer’s fire is weird, in some ways it reminds me of the Rune of Death since it starts out black and turns red, but it’s also far too orange to simply be the Rune of Death’s power. 

There’s also this description of the DLC: “The Land of Shadow. A place obscured by the Erdtree. Where the goddess Marika first set foot. A land purged in an unsung battle. Set ablaze by Messmer’s flame.”

I’d guess that the Land of Shadow was the place of Marika’s first conquest, and perhaps Messmer either aided her in razing it or that’s just something he did later? 

so WHO is this dude????

for starters, his name is Messmer the Impaler — M like Marika! Melina, Malenia, Miquella, Mogh, and Morgott. seems to be a pattern...

He says in the trailer, “Mother, wouldst thou truly Lordship sanction, in one so bereft of light?” 

Whoever Messmer’s mother is, she is in a position to “sanction lordship” meaning to give official permission for a lordship to take place. that screams Marika — she is THE goddess, and is responsible for guiding Tarnished to becoming Elden Lord. I can’t think of anyone else who might be called Mother who is in such a position as to allow someone to ascend to the position of Lord. He's also sitting in the same type of throne that the demigods sat in that we see in Morgott's cutscene.

theres 2 ways to interpret this line: 

Messmer could referring to himself when he says this; as if he’s saying, would my mother truly allow me to become Lord even though I’m so dark and edgy?? in a kind of sarcastic way. the flames he produces start out black, and he’s covered himself symbols treasonous to the Erdtree. OR, he’s referring to us, the Tarnished, when he says this; as if he’s saying, would you really let a person with such little light inside them become lord, mother?? (rude!) I’d say we need more context to determine exactly what he means

ALSO, interestingly, his left eye is sealed shut… you know who else has their left eye sealed shut? THAT’S RIGHT… OUR FRIENDS MELINA AND RANNI

The scarseal and soreseal items of Marika and Radagon are also carved into eyeballs… could eye trauma be an empyrean trait?? could Messmer also be an empyrean, one who the current demigods didn’t know the existence of??? 

with all that being said, I really doubt that this guy is Rykard or Rykard’s child as I’ve seen some people speculate… these other clues in the trailer point towards him being another, separate demigod. so what do we make of all the similar imagery?? I think that Messmer might be working against the Erdtree toward his own ends, and he’s embracing similar powers that Rykard did when he turned traitor. 

who is he then? I think he’s a demigod child of Marika, and possibly of Radagon because of the hair (unless his hair color comes elsewhere? a curse?). I think he got banished to the shadow realm for treason reasons, given the heretical symbols. perhaps he was an empyrean with his own agenda who was disposed of by Marika, like the Gloam Eyed Queen? perhaps he has ambitions to return to the real world and become Lord, destroying the Tarnished who might take his throne?

Crowley deserved to be in the Glorious Masquerade event 🤧🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛ The outfit was inspired by a lot of different things: Malleus’s costume, plague doctors, nuns (lmao), forget-me-not flowers, and the ceremonial robes. He already has a mask…but I think it would be funny if he wore a second mask on top that looked like a plague doctors 😭 I plan to design more event costumes for him in the future!

I’d like to make a nice painting of the second image too, but I’m not feeling very well today -v- I must have caught something…how ironic that I get sick when designing a plague doctor inspired outfit 😷

Crowley’s design was initially like, a copy paste of Malleus’s outfit. I’m actually working on a fic where Crowley went to Noble Bell College instead of Malleus, which is why I started with this idea! But it didn’t feel right, because I wanted Crowley’s design to be unique. I picked out the design elements I liked the most, like the dark colors, feathers, and a draping cape. Although somehow I feel like Crowley’s costume turned out more like a mash up of TWST’s Halloween/New Year outfits…but oh well (´∀｀*) The ideas I have for those events costumes will look very different to make up for it haha

With this and Crowley’s bird mask, I immediately thought of basing his look off a plague doctors, thus the long skirt, buttons, and hat. But I REALLY REALLY love puffy sleeves, especially ones with sheer fabric -v-

Shout out to Japhers (whose both on Twitter and tumblr), because their incredible costume designs helped me out a lot with Crowley’s design 👉👈 I feel like any time I was trouble with an outfit design, I just have to examine their costume design haha for inspiration haha, it’s so amazing! please check them out, their character designs are the most gorgeous things I’ve ever seen

Anyway, I got really torn from here. As you can probably see from the sketches, I had all the elements of his costume, but it was how they would fit together is what gave me some problems. The plague doctor cape covering his arms suited him, but I wanted the puffy sleeves ｡ﾟ(ﾟ´ω`ﾟ)ﾟ｡ As a compromise, he has puffy sleeves and sheer fabric on his chest underneath the coat because I’m a down-bad simp for Crowley 🧎 He’s also wearing thigh high boots under there because I say so

I wasn’t able to paint it well (I’m not experienced with painting), but he has these…swords on his heels? Yes, they’re a real thing. It’s incredibly gaudy and I love it, Crowley would absolutely wear little golden swords on his heels. The corset is very, VERY loosely rib cage inspired but since the corset is at his waist, it doesn’t really work -v- oh well, I just wanted some pretty chains. His costume comes with a lot of forget-me-not motifs because symbolism lmao (Levan haunts me 24/7) and because of their pretty blue color (*^o^*)

now that they’re all laid out and colored, it feels very power rangers for some reason.

Anyway, this is me combining my favorite elements of Tim’s costumes. It’s basically an adult Tim Drake AU (because DC refuses to give us a canon adult Tim— LET HIM AGE PLEASE) as a follow up to this post.

Here’s some notes:

Tim is lithe and does not build up defined muscle easily. I should do more anatomy studies at some point, but Tim’s strong suit isn’t brute strength anyway.

I’ve taken to calling this the Pilcrow AU, but honestly, I’m just so obsessed with Tim’s self-image in the Unternet essentially just being a caped Nightwing that this could also be Flamebird design.

The single stripe on the side is supposed to mimic the Pilcrow symbol (¶) but I didn’t want to make it too obvious because then it’d feel too similar to Anarky’s A.

WINGS. GIVE HIM BACK HIS WINGS.

The wings have magnets in them that can connect to the arm bracers for more precise control. They’re more for gliding than sustained flight, but I could picture a jetpack or something being hidden in there.

Beak mask.

I miss Tim’s spiked skater boy hair, but the middle part is fine. I like to think the y-axis of his hair has a direct correlation with his emotional stability. His hair spiking up is when he’s emotionally not-terrible and his hair is long when he’s extremely emotionally unstable (ex. Red Robin 2009). I cannot stand his undercut in the current mainline comics. He looks like a fuckboy.

He’s got a lot of invisible pockets and hidden compartments. Some of them are just blended into the fabric.

The black sides against the black underwing feathers helps prevent enemies from striking precise blows. It’s an optical illusion.

20-something year old adult Tim is 5’7”. Cass is like 5’3” and Steph is 5’10”. I will not take any criticism. When Tim was a teenager, before his final growth spurt, he and Cass could swap clothes. Meanwhile, Steph has always been taller than him and will continue to hold it over his head.

Secret Origins #13

Always obsessed with this panel. First because of 20-year-old Dick saying the Robin outfit is actually more his style because he’s a swashbuckler at heart. But also because of the explicit acknowledgement that the Discowing suit specifically is partly a tribute to Batman.

This is a thing in Judas Contract, too (where he originally became Nightwing). The name & costume are based on Clark & Bruce respectively.

Nightwing: Year One claimed later that he got the silhouette of the Discowing suit from one of John Grayson’s old circus outfits. I don’t think this was explicitly stated originally, but it makes sense since Batman is not known for deep v-necks and high collars. lol

Then, presumably, the part of Dick’s Discowing costume that is a tribute to Batman is the “blue with a touch of yellow” color scheme. It’s a more birdlike (his yellow is feathers!), circus style of some suits Bruce had while Dick was Robin.

Here is Bruce’s Batman suit as of when Dick gave his Robin suit to Jason, compared to the first time we see Dick as Nightwing. So much blue with a pop of yellow! In some art Bruce’s blue is darker. Dick clearly replaced the gray with light blue. And his mask! The swooping wings of his mask are reminiscent of the wing style used in the bat symbol.

(I’ve always correlated Dick’s suits getting darker with his mental state and things like that…but we might also be able to correlate it with Bruce’s suits getting darker too, whether this was intentional on their end or honestly just a consequence of comics fashion changing.)

(Dick had also mentioned Kory in Judas Contract but I don’t recall that being expanded to connect to a specific part of Dick’s name or outfit. I wonder if the unique paneling on the discowing suit was loosely inspired by Kory’s 80s Starfire outfit?)

Dick “I’m the sum of so many people” Grayson is so special to me. He does not take his new identity lightly. Originally he introspected on leaving Robin for something new and what that could entail for quite some time before he ever brought it up to Bruce or anyone else. He imbues so much meaning into it! He does it all so intentionally.

holy shit! Its done! Ive worked on this for about a month and a half now? I think? Its a somewhat redo of this post from exactly a year ago :) I hope you like it !!!

(List of symbols below the cut. Slight warning: It's a bit long)

Biana

The bird earrings and the goldish triangles in the background are supposed to represent the vacker crest and how her family name is always sort-of looming over her.

The background could be interpreted as a mirror or stained glass. a mirror because of nightfall, and stained glass because it's the kind of rich people thing the vackers would have.

The cracks in the mirror are very faintly outlined in gold. It's supposed to sort of represent how the constant pressure to be perfect and "golden" kinda fucked up her and her family, especially with regards to Alvar.

The mix of teal and purple in the mirror and the roses is supposed to symbolize the constant fight between being herself and being who her family and the rest of elven society wants her to be.

The flowers are roses because something something Biana is pretty but definitely has thorns. She can hurt you.

The butterflies are actually there for multiple reasons! Theres the obvious, being that butterflies are beautiful. But they're beautiful because their colors come from camoflauge. They look pretty to hide from predators. Also, the belding in could go with her vanisher ability.

I know it's a bit unclear, but the squigglies beside the butterflies are supposed to be snakes! Snakes are dangerous, but you don't usually notice them until it's too late. They sneak up on you. Sort-of resembling how no one would suspect Biana of being dangerous, and how being a vanisher lets her sneak up on people.

Fitz

He has matching earrings with Biana. This is sort-of to go with the whole "family comes first" thing with the Vackers. The birds are also to represent the family crest! (You can also see the crest in the squares in the corners)

His color scheme has a lot more teal than Biana's did. This is mostly because of the two, the family legacy effected him more. He was always going to be the golden child. The one true Vacker kid.

The swords on the sides are supposes to sort of symbolize his fighting. He's been almost nonstop battle training for a lot of books now, and even got an actual sword in the ending of stellarlune.

The swords are wrapped in roses. It's supposed to represent Sophie, since the Ruewen crest has a rose. She is what made him realize that the elven world was really shitty, and that there's a better world worth fighting for.

The feathers beside the swords are also supposed to represent the bird in the family crest.

The scales at the top are because of mr.snuggles mostly. Dragons have scales, so i thought it'd be fun. They could also represent a snake skin, and how throughout the series he's been growing and changing.

Below the scales are little thorns. These were supposes to symbolize all the littlethings he's said and done to hurt others, even if it wasn't intentional. His anger is a protects him, just like thorns protect a rose.

In the top right corner, there's a circle with a broken heart inside. It's supposed to be his cognate ring, and all the drama that's happened with Sophie.

The objects above his shoulders are crowns! bc vacker royalty or whatever!!

There's a broken heart behind him. The most obvious comparison for this would be his relationship with Sophie, but it could also represent his connection to Alvar or Keefe. Honestly, it could represent his entire relationship with the Lost Cities.

Keefe

The black dripping down the circle in the background is supposed to be shadows + quintessence. It could go with the scene in Legacy where his abilities are activated, or just represent how his life has been slowly getting darker and darker. Everything being overshadowed by the Neverseen.

The heart in the middle of the darkness can either be his empath abilites or how he's still trying to be a good person, despite everything that's happened.

The candles are a tie in to the Sencen crest, hand holding a candle. They could also represent how everything that's happened to him over the course of the books is slowly burning him out, and yet he's still desperately trying to help, and be a light for his friends.

The shapes surrounding the circle could be eyes, to represent the neverseen, or the petals of a flower. The flower would be to represent life. He's still alive and he's still going despite everything. His entire life was built on Gisela'a dream for the neverseen and her own plans though, hence why the petals are eyes.

The flowers on his necklace are a tie-in to the flowet bead necklace he made for his mother when he was little.

The petals are in a sort-of gradient from white to green. This is supposed to symbolize all the shit that's happened in recent years, and all the deaths and sadness that have piled up. There's still a ring of white though, to represent that throughout this he's still the same person. That he's still a good person.

Only one of his eyes is showing, and it's wide open. It's supposed to look a bit like the neverseen symbol.

In his outfit, you can see little heart symbols in the pattern, because he's an empath.

In the very back, the mismatched stripes are sort-of supposed to be the chaos and confusion that sort of goes with his character. His entire life is a mystery that only Gisela knows, and it's been a mess trying to figure it out. He doesn't know who he is or really why he even exists.

His eye earring is supposed to go with the Neverseen, and his sun earring is supposed to symbolize Icarus.

Sophie

The little pattern on her outfit is supposed to look like moonlark feathers !

Her outfit is blue because like. Red is her color, canonically, but her whole thing is supposed to be going against whats expected of her and making changes, so! Blue.

I tried to make her hair like. sunrise-ish colors. Since shes sort of like? A new beginning for the Lost Cities? If that makes sense?

Her little hair part has the silhouette of hope.

The circle outline in the back is supposed to be the cognate ring.

The shapes surrounding the circle are little wolf claws, to go with her dire wolf Team Valiant symbol.

The stars inside the circle are supposed to be her three human family members, and then her star off to the side.

The three blood drops are supposed to be the three main deaths that have effected her. Kenric, Calla, and Forkle 1.

The three leaves outlining the circle are supposed to be Edaline, Grady, and Jolie. Something something theyre leaves because wanderlings and Jolie's death was all they could see before Sophie came to them.

The leaves are right next to the fire because Brant killed jolie with fire !

Fire in the bottom right corner because. Every single fucking thing that has happened to her regarding fire. (Also Fintan possibly being her dad)

There are 11 stripes in the top right corner for her 11 main friends.

The rose is supposed to be the rose in the Ruewen family crest.

The red stripes in the top left corner are supposed to sort of look like her inflicting lazers.

The feathers are swan feathers.

The white triangles in the bottom left corner are alicorn horns (hence the sparkles).

Dex

The 4 circles on his necklace are the triplets and him. The bottom one hanging down could be either Dex or Rex, I think.

His shirt is sort of funky? I wanted it to be a bit like Slurps-and-Burps, I guess. A tiny bit different from the others.

Stars on his shirt! For when he and Sophie went star-gazing for a homework assignment.

The branch in thr background is supposed to be from his wanderling.

Fire! Because of his whole thing with it bc. You know. Tortured by it and shit. Also, just in general, this series can't go five minutes without fire being mentioned. So.

The little oval above it is supposed to be a bit linke a finger print? Because he still has that mark from when he got tortured. It was also supposed to look a bit like a sand dollar, because he got kidnapped on the beach.

Swan at the top! (It doesn't look much like a swan bc I did it with no reference. :()

It has a green eye because Neverseen! And how they've caused all this death and shit in his life.

Theres a gear at the top because he's a technopath.

In the back it's a bit hard to see but. There are little lines throughout thr black spaces. They were supposed to look a bit like wires. Technopath.

The circle inside the gear is supposed to be his Team Valiant gem, in his circlet.

Three water drops for the triplets.

Theres water at the bottom, partly because of the beach where he got snatched, but also partly because of like. His somewhat melting relationship with his mom after the Black Swan reveal? Since shes a Froster.

Behind the drops there's five stripes, to represent his whole family.

Idk theres a lot of family symbolism in this because its like? Such an important part of his character? Their reputation is what makes up so much of his motivations, especially in the earlier books.

Marella

Her hair was supposed to look a bit like fire.

Fire shapes on her outfit.

She has a little heart pin on her outfit because of her earlier ambitions to be an empath.

Eyes on her necklace for the neverseen. The orange triangles are for fire and thr blue ovals are for water. Because of her training practice with Linh.

The 3 dots on either side of her outfit are for the other three horsegirls of the apocolypse. Linh, Maruca, and Stina.

The wrinkles on her sleeves were also supposed to look a bit like fire? Not sure how well that worked out though.

There are 5 stars on her earrings to represent the five pyrokinetics deaths that caused the ban on her ability. They're stars bc her name means star of the sea.

The pink/yellow/blue stipe on the left is supposed to represent the torch she had in the ending of stellarlune, bc those are the colors is turned.

Exillium beads above the stripes to represent her relationship with Linh and how she was angry that Sophie didn't ask her to come with her in Neverseen.

The waves above the beads are supposed to tie into her "star of the sea" name.

Above that is Fintan's ear :). The moon earring hanging down is supposed to be like, controlling the waves? And they're supposed to represent Marella's name so it's like. Fintan manipulating her during their training sessions.

The sun at the very top because like. fire. sun.

Little wind at the top right corner for her dad, Durand, whose a guster.

The shape on the right is the balcony that her mom fell off.

The vines growing up it are supposed to sort of represent death? Her mother didn't die, but I'd assume they probably mourned her a bit like they did with Alden. She's not totally gone but she'll never be the same as she once was.

Theres a salamander climbing up the balcony because of the myth that they're immune to fire, and how pyrokinetics are supposedly immune to fire but can still be effected by everblaze. If that makes sense?

There are little yellow dots scattered throughout the background that are supposed to be like. Little sparks from fire.

Linh

She has a moon earring to sort of represent control over waves and shit.

Same thing goes for the moon above her head!

Her registry pendant is like? Simpler? Compared to the others, since she was banished and all that.

Dots on her outfit are exillium beads if it wasnt clear. :)

The symbol on her jacket (?) are rainclouds.

The lines on her sleeves are supposed to look like rivers.

Purple handprint in the background because of her exillium placing.

The stairs behind it are supposed to be the stairs at Tiergan's house. There are 6, one for each person who lived there at some point.

The little red/blue drops and sea are like. The blood slowly turning into water/ her taking control over her ability.

It could also be all the ogres she probably killed when she flooded Ravagog.

The 6 stars beside the moon are to represent all the Endal-Alenfars.

The darker star is Rayni.

The plants at the top are supposed to sort of represent the gnomes they lived with. They make a dome shape, to sort of symbolize the dome surrounding Atlantis.

The flowers at the ends of the vines(?) are supposed to represent her and Tam.

The cattails at the very top are because they grow near water and Linh had to grow up near the water, even though she couldn't control it yet because of her parents.

The dragonfly was Diras idea :)

The purple and red in the background is sort of like. Who she was at exillium and in general (sweet, helpful, whatever, etc.) vs like. That darker part of her that flooded Ravagog.

Tam

He has a sun earring to sort of parallel Linh's moon. The sun has like. A bit to do with shadows if I remember 4th grade science well enough.

Exillium beads on his outfit :)

He's wearing the Endal crest because like. I think they're more important than his actual family will ever be. (It also annoys me a tiny bit that him and Linh are wearing the Song crest in almost all of their official art.)

He and Linh have the same like. Set of earrings. One gold and one silver.

Like Linh, his registry pendant is also simpler compared to the others.

The blue/black color scheme on his outfit is supposed to sort of go with him and Linh's ability colors.

Two buttons on his outfit for him and Linh.

Behind him is a shadow, to go with his ability. There are also like. Smaller shadows throughout.

Above the shadow's head is a crown. It's supposed to be the one from Legacy, when Tam had to blast Keefe.

Above him are like. 2 stars and 4 little dots. The stars are him and Linh, and the rest are the other Endal-Alenfars.

The line in the middle is supposed to represent his ambi placing in Exillium.

The top right corner is Eternalia/ the Tribunal Hall, where Linh got banished.

The top left is Exillium.

The sky like? Gets a bits brighter as it transitions from the Tribunal to Exillium to sort of represent how they were more free? I guess? Even if it wasn't ideal, they were away from their parents and they had power over their lives at least a bit.

The bottom right is the river that they lived beside in book 4 that Linh parted for them.

Beside the river are little pebbles in sets of twos for Tam and Linh.

In the bottom left is the staircase to Tiergans house.

Around the line in the middle are little flowers. From left to right they represent: Wylie, Rayni, Tiergan, Prentice, and Linh.

After a week of printing, cutting, and gluing, I have finally finished a long-held goal of mine to bind these three fanfics!

After the last mammoth bookbinding project, I wanted to do something simple for a change. So, I decided to bind some Rancher Duo fics for my personal enjoyment while using some of the cheapest materials and leftover stuff that I can find. While the overall binding process was comparatively simpler, there were also a few new tricks I use in the making of these ficbooks.

If I could sum it up, I would say that these ficbinds are a sort-of "working experiment". As in, experimenting in making, gluing, and putting what goes where at which sections of the book.

For starters, the endpapers of various feathers are just cut sections of present-wrapping paper I found at a store. I intended to use a different paper pattern for the inside cover/endpaper, but ran out of that and bought the feather one instead. Given how Jimmy is head-cannoned and written as a canary of death, it's serendipitously fitting.

I also went for simplicity at the spine; just a long piece of cardstock. Simple and effective, yet somehow it went wonky for one book when it came to gluing. Why? How? I don't know!

Experimentation was afoot from the title page alone. The first two fics are titled plainly, but I decided to place a semi-transparent visual of a feather at the last ficbind, just to test the visual look. I'd say it looks a lot more interesting and fits the fic's vibe, though I also like the simplicity of the last two title pages.

The front matter (or information page/s) was also a place where slight experiments were done, namely at keeping all the information contained to one page. If there is just too much info, can I make it a two-page spread without it looking like a boring wall of text? And lastly: is there enough room to add the AO3 logo and my own?

The second and third ficbinds use symbols as dividers between different sections of info, and the third ficbind has no logo - more on that later.

I then experimented on the first page: could I use pictures or visuals to set the mood for the fic? Each picture was taken from the internet and edited to fit the page, though it look me literal hours to find the right pictures to use in the first place.

The titles have a pop of red color to make for an interesting visual effect. Soft Rains and How Our Fires Burn also have drop caps at their opening paragraphs to see if it fits with the visual look and layout.

There Will Come Soft Rains was also the first time I did some fancy editing in regards to the letter-writing sections of the fic. The paper background was easy, but it took some time to find the exact fonts that could fit Tango and Jimmy's writing vibe. I also divided Tango and Jimmy's perspectives with thematic dividers - a cowboy hat and redstone block, naturally.

I then repeated the visual vibe at the opening pages for the ending. As Wedding Bells ended at the left page, the opposite right page was a singular photo that conveys the vibe of the fic's ending. Since the other two ficbinds ended at the right page, I tried to come up with a way of conveying the emotional touchstone of their endings and settled on a double-page spread of photos.

Setting the photos to that they seem to meet at the center was a bit finicky, and it ultimately did not print as a seamless whole. Still, I like the effect those photos give to the ending(s).

Same concept, but simplified at the End Notes. I ultimately feel the simplified visuals of the latter ficbinds ended up better than the complete picture of my first attempt.

Also, remember how one ficbind, Where and How Our Fires Burn, did not have the logos at the front matter / information page? That's because that fic was when I experimented with a colophon and placed the logos of AO3 and my own there. Thinking about it, I may not use this method if I want to make a simple bookbind that saves pages, but definitely will for bigger projects.

As Hob uttered the words of the summoning ritual, reading them from the aged page held tightly in shaking hands, he felt like he was making a colossal mistake. The ritual was supposed to summon something willing to make a deal, but the details were so frustratingly unclear…

The circular formation of chalk, surrounded by symbols he copied from the worn, yellowed pages, took up most of the chipped floor in the room. The six of cheapest candles he could get his hands on were placed as accurately as he could around the setup.

With the sound of tiny silver bells a smiling slender maiden appeared, with cascades of reddish gold hair adorning her bare, rosy skin. Hob could see her reach out her arms toward him.

The darkness swirled above the summoning circle, the rising wind almost smudged chalk on the floor, and the color of the candle flames seems to have changed into deep, soft cyan.

The visage of the maiden flickered and deformed, for a blink whisked away into much frailer creature before even that fell apart as it was pushed aside. It looked almost like she was shoved back as the shadow coalesced into a solid shape.

And then there was a figure in the middle, the thin and tall person of skin like white marble, wearing majestic robes like wisps of shadows, lit up from inside by the countless stars. Edges of being were spread out in the pair of midnight wings housing millions of facets of the sky within their feathers. The glorious otherworldly aura filled not only the circle, but also spilled all over the room, hanging so heavily Hob could barely breathe. Whatever was standing in front of him was something regal and… obviously powerful. And it looked a lot like his mysterious stranger. It took Hob a few moments before he really started thinking again, rather than just staring at the absolutely gorgeous appearance of being in front of him.

“Oh… sorry, I. Something got screwed. It was supposed to summon a low-level imp or some simple spirit, sooo…”

The stranger gives a small, regal nod. Hob decides to accept it as a sign of forgiveness, but as Hob took a breath to talk more about this awkward situation, the man spoke.

“Hob Gadling, you are incredibly lucky with your mistakes. Most beings wouldn't be this indulgent of mortal reaching out blindly.” When hearing him, Hob has no more doubts that being in front of him is truly his stranger. His voice somehow sounds even deeper than usual, echoing over the inside of Hob’s mind in a way that seems filled with power, but there was no place for doubts.

“Creature summoned here could take advantage of the misplaced ward over here,” his stranger continues with what seems like amusement pointing out which part he means. “Look, it is placed at the wrong angle and this line here is too thick, interfering with the correct shape.” He easily reaches past the line of the circle that was supposed to stop whatever was summoned from getting out, without a care in the world before he moved on to talk about another thing he noticed about the set up “…and the uneven edge of the circle, right in this place, where it's easier to break. If it was a particularly stubborn one they might even use the uneven surface of the floor as their chance.”

Hob had no choice but stand there, listening to his stranger absolutely tear to pieces dozens of mistakes he seems to have made in ensuring that summoning goes properly before finally this wonderful, winged creature seems done with schooling him, and folded his wings back into the robe.

“If you attempt to summon me again, you ought to prepare some appropriate offerings.”

“Wait, what’s your name? So I don’t mess up…”

“Perhaps you ought to figure it out before trying next time.” The stranger gives a barely noticeable smile as he spreads his wings again, with a quick brush of feathers disrupting the chalk as he vanishes again.

I just realized that I have never actually shared the end result of my tattoo. I love it every day a little bit more, least of all because it's actually got some hidden meanings and nods to some important things in my life. It got a bit long (and pretty emotional, oh my) so more under the cut if you wanna know

The colors, rather, the brush strokes in the background. Red, blue, purple and orange. If you know me, you know that I am a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Fan. But that is not a big enough word tbh. The turtles have accompanied me all my life. My first pajama was turtles themed, I wanted to learn to ride a skateboard because of Mikey pretty much all my teen years. But most importantly, and most emotionally for me, I distinctly remember watching a turtles episode from the 1987 cartoon at a friend's house while my mother attended my father's funeral. I don't remember much of that time, only being 5 years old, but I remember crouching behind a sofa and looking over the back of it to watch the turtles have adventures. Maybe that's where it really started, who knows. I just know that these funky guys mean a lot to me for reasons I might not even be able to explain to myself properly. These colors bring me joy, so they had to be there.

And then, the sunflower. I wanted that there because of Mob Psycho 100, an anime that has not just changed the way I look at the world and at myself. I am the protagonist of my own life. My life is my own. If I can change then others can change too. It's easy to want to be easily palatable (is that the word?) for others, to get their approval, to get them to like you. It's taken me some odd 34 years to realize that I only have to be palatable for myself. I have to look in the mirror and see someone that I can get behind, a person worthy of love and friendship and I am worthy of it, everyone is worthy of it no matter who you are, how you look or what you can do. You are worthy already by just being you and even if you aren't quite there yet you are still worthy. We are all worthy of being happy. I am allowed to be silly and cringe and not act like my age. I live my life the way I want.

Because I am the protagonist of my own life and if I don't write the story, who will?

The last one is the crows feather with the green accents. This is a bit of an obscure one. As some of you know, I have written fanfiction for years. It got me through some tough times during high school. Then adult life hit and I stopped. I stopped writing my original stories too. I can't even say why it just felt like a chore, probably because I got so discouraged with my own skills and my own expectations for myself. Then I slowly got back into it, writing a real short one shot for Monkie Kid and realizing that I have missed it quote a lot. And then Encanto came along. This movie that has inspired me so much that it felt like I suddenly couldn't stop writing even if I wanted to.

And then I got the idea for "A place for crows" and the rest is history I guess? The love and encouragement I received where phenomenal. That story made me fall in love with story telling again, it consumed me for pretty much a complete year. And it brought some of the most wonderful people, beloved friends from all over the world, into my life. I am so greatful to this Fandom, to this story, or rather the things this story has brought into my life.

So the feather symbolized my love for writing and just fandom spaces in general, this wonderful microcosmos I can call home.

The brushes and pencil are a given, my love for art and drawing which have also been big factors in rediscovering myself

This text got long, I just typed it down without pausing and I'm not gonna go over it again for spelling or something like that. Take it as it came out of me, with all my love and emotional bloodletting.

Amane and Her Costuming

I've been thinking about how Purge March affects Magic so I'm going to let out some thoughts on that right now. As archivalofsins pointed out on this post right here the flag Amane is carrying does not have the exact same symbol as the balloon. I don't got any other way to put it other than it's more aesthetically pleasing, with the accents and the dots and so on. Same post also mentions how Amane isn't allowed to go amusement parks which is actually important to what I'm thinking about:

Q.05 If you went to an amusement park, what ride would you choose to go on? Kazui: Not gonna lie, I kinda want to go on the merry-go-round. Amane: That’s a place I’m not supposed to go.

As I've mentioned extensively in my analysis of Animal (that i need to update) Amane isn't allowed to indulge, she isn't allowed to have frivolous things, she isn't allowed to have attachments to things like that.

And as I mentioned in my initial thoughts on Purge March: In the scene where the Amane who fails to represent the flag gets drowned, the rule Amane fails is the one about vulgarity, and we also see Amane being punished both by herself in her mind and Gozake. I Doubt the cult is talking about the actual meaning of vulgarity but instead about "frivolous" and "indulgent" things, things that aren't "modest," (in the sense of being moderate and not the other definition) which can included Literally Anything from breathing to eating good food.

This makes Magic's costuming and presentation really interesting to me because it is kind of "frivolous" isn't it?

Ignoring the darkness lurking within it for a second. Magic has anthropomorphic animals and fun mascots and Amane is wearing a lovely magical girl-esque oufit. I'm a big magical girl fan and I would definitely call magical girl outfits very ornate and very extra. Let me get a design from Precure for a second:

Here's Cure Mermaid from Go Princess! Now admittedly I'm using the Go Princess designs (cause I like them) and the theme is inherently pretty extravagant but even the less extravagant magical girls have their own kind of extra-ness to their designs.

Ahiru from Princess Tutu (which I need to finish its really good guys go watch it!) is a simpler design in a lot of ways but is still pretty extra with the little crown and wing-like accessories on the back and the hairpiece (? Honestly I'm not sure) Thing that Ahiru has on her head.

Amane's design in Magic follows these design conventions of extra-ness and fun and what not:

She has 4 different colored buttons on her vest and colorful lines on the outer part of her skirt and fluffy balls on them and a cute hat and long socks (or maybe just straight up leggings) with an yellow zigzag, she has a badge on her chest (and before this a bow) it's a very ornate design!

The Purge March designs aren't this extra (and they certainly have less color!) but even then she is still wearing a performance outfit!

Like Look at it! She has big boots and a cute skirt and a Giant Cape and a really big hat with a FEATHER on it! This isn't holding back in the slightest! She's wearing a fun pretty costume!

This is pretty consistent with how marching band outfits can look too.

Outside of her mind however we see Amane in a school uniform:

It's a pretty regular uniform overall and I don't think we see Amane outside of this uniform though, unless the drowning scene counts:

It does look a lot like her school uniform though which has Horrific Implications but even if it isn't the clothing is the same shade of dark blue and is overall pretty dull.

However her hat is something I find really interesting.

It's a cute hat with a cute little ribbon tied into a bow around it! She wears it basically everywhere! She wears in her T1 design even though she was in Prison! Edit: Something I forgot but remembered right now is that the other girl has the same hat she does so its probably apart of the uniform, still Amane keeps the hat around and both Magic and Purge Marge have her wearing a hat of some sort. It's not a unique hat or anything but I do think it means something to Amane for her MVs to keep on giving her one.

(Her bag also has sticker markings but I'm unsure if those stickers were about her cult or not so I'm not mentioning them but it's possible that Amane Decorates her bag.)

Amane likes this stuff! If were bringing the Minigrams into this, (and I'm going to cause Shidou brought the pancakes into Tirage) this Minigram has her her hair styled, and in it she's bothered by her bedhead! She likes that Mahiru styled her hair! She likes dressing up and being cute! Her outfits in her MV have an extra flourish to them, capes, bows, feathers, extra colors.

No wonder that's one of the rules she fails to obey

How these mfs look like, just a concept. However, I do want to make them canon because I want to make domains canon and it would feel weird if these two weren't. I just need their powers to make domains and their looks aren't necessary since no one can really see them.

Speaking about their powers. I was thinking of soul creation/animation and something with time. I don't know about the third power. Since these two aren't actually just life and death they are the start of a process and the end of it. Niic's powers would be the opposite of Eggo's since that's how my duos work. So soul eradication and something with stopping the time...

I want to talk about their design since I actually thought about it. The big feather thing/tail on their back is supposed to work like a veil since it's cool. Their colors are kinda odd, but that's because they were the colors I haven't used on my first layers yet. Tikki is red with blue eyes, Plagg is black(for some reason I see him more as black than green lol) with green eyes, Luxx is yellow with yellow/red eyes, Deed is brown with yellow eyes, Grimm is just red and Imaa is pink with orange eyes. That's why Eggo is in between yellow and green, I didn't wanna make them orange since that would not be the opposite of purple. I also feel like green is associated with life more than orange. Niic is purple (more on the blue side) because, like Eggo, I had no purple first layer. I also thought of making their eyes blood red instead of the light pink, but Grimm already had red eyes so I decided against that. Their eyes are like that because I thought it would be a nice change, they're like the opposites of each other. Eggo's eyes are so dark you can barely see their pupil while Niic's are very light.

Also about their names, Eggo is supposed to be from ego, which is the self, psyche. I have also just realized that it sounds like an egg which is cool as it also symbolizes the beginning of a life. Niic is supposed to be from the word 'nic' which means nothing in Czech (and other languages).

I also thought for a while about changing Bliss and Terro back to these concepts (since that's what they were technically supposed to be at first) but I decided against that because I love Bliss too much and I couldn't bear not having her 'exist'.

I won't be making a box for them since they aren't bound to a miraculous.

But yeah, that's it. I would love suggestions for the powers since they're important.

BASICS.

𝐍𝐀𝐌𝐄. Huỳnn Loan Phượng The name on Nadia's birth certificate is her family name, Huỳnn, her middle name, Loan and her given name, Phượng. The luan is a deified bird across East Asian mythology, often representing an omen of peace to come and virtue. The phượng hoàng (pictured in the banner art of this post) is commonly referred to as the "Chinese phoenix," a composite creature made up several birds (which often change) and other animals. Its body represents celestial bodies and the 5 fundamental colors of its feathers represent the 5 virtues of Confucius. While it does not bear many similarities to the Western phoenix, there is an association with fire, as it is said to have been born of the sun and is commonly depicted with a fireball. It is a positive symbol, often an omen of peace, prosperity, and happiness, but also represents loyalty and honesty.

Nadia Atalanta Growing up in middle America in the late eighties/nineties meant that Nadia was encouraged to pick an "American" name that was "easier" for American teachers and friends to pronounce. Nadia was chosen from a list of names her first grade teacher had (a little dated, as she believes "Nadia" was there due to the popularity of Nadia Comăneci in the seventies). Atalanta was the call sign given to Nadia when she joined MTF Delta-5. In Greek mythology, Atalanta is associated with Jason and the Argonauts and was a disciple of Artemis. Prior to those adventures, she refused to marry unless her suitor could best her in a footrace.

𝐍𝐈𝐂𝐊𝐍𝐀𝐌𝐄𝐒. None. Some of the more childish members of MTF Xi-13 took to calling her "Nads." She provides her current surname, "Atalanta," when asked her preference. (She will be rolling her eyes at all of their new call signs and will probably be huffy about responding to "Live Wire.") If you call her Nadia, well...you had better be Dying Breed.

𝐅𝐀𝐂𝐄 𝐂𝐋𝐀𝐈𝐌. Levy Tran

𝐃𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐔𝐈𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐅𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐄𝐒. A long-healed scar around the left side of her chin not quite reaching her bottom lip; a deep scar that looks like gouged claw marks at the center of her abdomen and trailing off toward her left hip; an uneven circle of puncture scars around her right shoulder that sure does look like something bit her...but what has a mouth that large? She's usually seen with her shoulder-length hair done in twin French braids, tight, down the back of her head. When not in tactical or field gear, she's likely to be wearing a sweatshirt or flannel that doesn't seem to fit right, too large and for a more masculine frame (these items belonged to her brother).

𝐁𝐈𝐎𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐏𝐇𝐘. Nadia was recruited into The Foundation directly out of upper-education, concurrent with her brother, Mark, in the greater Chicago metro area. Both Nadia and Mark excelled quickly, she in field work and infiltration and he in research and containment. Mark would eventually become respected within the Experimental Containment Research group and Nadia would be assigned to Mobile Task Force: Delta-5: “Front Runners.”

The majority of her career was spent with Delta-5. There, she proved intelligent, adept, and obedient. She expressed a deep satisfaction for the work within MTF Delta-5 and it has been reported from multiple supervisors throughout this time that Nadia was one of the brightest operatives they had seen in an age. The general consensus was that she would achieve MTF Commander at an exceptionally young age.

In 2017, Mark  entered into a routine encounter with an anomaly that would prove fatal. Officially, the Foundation maintains that failure to adhere to protocol led to Mark’s death. Nadia vehemently disagrees, as Mark was always meticulous. Directly following his death, inquiries were made and the initial decision was upheld. Nadia has refused to accept the Foundation’s explanation. Most information and files related to his death and the incident have been expunged and data-locked.

Following 3 months of leave, Nadia returned to active duty. Her discipline had collapsed and her behavior became erratic and dangerous. There were numerous disciplinary warnings and write-ups, culminating in the incident with a member of  GoI-004: “Church of the Broken God,” where Nadia deliberately sabotaged her cover to enter into an unprovoked physical altercation. She was reassigned to Mobile Task Force Xi-13: “Sequere Nos” as a consequence. There was a successful, largely uneventful year with MTF Xi-13 – and then the encounter with SCP-19-2001-1.

Nadia’s assignment has been in flux for the past year since the encounter with SCP-192001-01. Directly following the incident, she was remanded to 6 months of medical leave. An additional 3 months of mental health leave was recommended, but Nadia declined. Since returning from leave, she has been working in the Department of Decommissions.

𝐖𝐀𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐃 𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐍𝐄𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒. Paragon, Fallen Nadia used to be an exemplar within the Mobile Task Forces, particularly MTF Delta-5. She rose through ranks fast and easy, enjoying her work and eager to gain her own command. That's all in shambles, now, but it if your character has been through MTFs, they may have heard about Atalanta, or any of her triumphs from the earlier days. If not, there's still the chance that your character worked with MTF Xi-13 and could have encountered the current shade of Nadia. Personal Project Nadia is still desperate to find out exactly what happened to her brother. I can definitely see her picking the brains of anyone who might have information, whether about that specific incident or just containment and breaches in general. Hand-to-Hand When she's not avoiding everyone in her room, Nadia will likely be training in the gym facilities. While she prefers to train solo, she also loves to spar and practice combat. If your character is a fighter, or would like to be, they could potentially cross on the mat. Wilderness Scouts Nadia has not joined the Walking Club (Seriously?), but she is often wandering through the wooded area around the base. While she is absolutely looking for solitude on these treks (with the rare exception being made for Dying Breed), your character could encounter her and, if they're quiet, they may just be allowed to walk with her.

Hello Guest: Sometimes Conversation Is A Raven Nest

Part of my Hello Neighbor story, we learn more about the Guest in this headcanon and the story.

Mr. Peterson glared at the creature in front of him, not in the slightest bit. Did he like it, Peterson was a 50 year old man with a well trimmed mustache, always curled at each side. His hair was brown, but near to greying. Forming a swirl at the top, wearing a yellow shirt, with a stain on it. The stain was unspecified. Theodore had green, piercing eyes staring at the thing. He had a strong cheekbones, something his childhood self never possessed. And he had a round chin, an swirl on his chin. He had grown a stubble, as he was older.

Peterson had thick, arching eyebrows. Which gave him an intimidating appearance, and they pointed straight downwards, to his nose. His unusual head has numerous wrinkles and creases on his forehead. The mustached man also wore thick, and greasy rubber gloves. Of a black color. He wore a blue diamond patterned vest, with a argyle style. The very small part, the comprising material of his shirt was a rain-resistant material. The edges of the vest are dark blue and ridged, while the diamonds are a lighter blue. There are white dotted lines crossing the vest as part of its pattern. Theodore's pants are an orange color with darker orange stripes, and his shoes are black and white sneakers.

"Explain your actions, especially after you possessed MY son. And chased me." The black sheep of Raven Brooks asked, adjusting his collared shirt.

"Theodore, relax. I think you and I can speak, whilst we remain civil."

The creature in front of him ironically looked somewhat similar, but vastly different, beefier. Wearing a purple, dirty dark striped sweater with a red pocket on the front. The top, inside this pocket was a tissue. There was the presence of yellow stitching, around the armpit area, as if somebody created the sweater. The sweater had light red sleeves with lines on them, the sleeves were significantly dirtier than one expected. However they were incredibly dirty, one could not tell if they were red or orange. In opposite of Mr. Peterson's muscular form, and limbs. The creature had lanky limbs. Wearing, similar gloves. But shredded, the fingers resembled talons of a raven or a crow. And these gloves have dirt on him. It wore brown lined pants, with black shoes with yellow laces and soles. However, as one would expect. Because of the body shape. The entity had lankier limbs. The hood was pulled past the head, and for a face. Was a raven beak, resembling wood, but if you were stupid enough to touch the beak, it was certainly organic. The figure wore a black, hooded cloak. Held together by a circular clasp, with an eye symbol. Theo knew the symbol all too well. Forest Protectors. However as a man could not think the same way a insect could, one would wrongfully think this cloak is brown.

The Guest. The Raven Man, the mysterious urban legend of Raven Brooks. Who had existed for ages, a demonic supernatural entity. And dealmaker who had complete control over Raven Brooks. Some doubted his existence, because Raven Man, Raven Brooks. However this simply didn't deter the mind of believers or conspiracy theorists.

Beside the creature were three men, wearing black hooded figures, with hundreds of feathers attached to their cloaks. They had their hoods up, obscuring their head, and they wore white, curved beak masks. Resembling a plague doctor mask from medieval times. These figures also wore long black gloves with claws. Forest Protectors.

Peterson knew why they wore these raven like costumes. Because they worshipped The Guest, and sacrificed people to him. Representing his legend and existence through the cloaks.

"I merely gave your son an opportunity, one he should have been grateful for, an escape from that prison you hold him in." The beaked creature said. His voice was full of envy and greed, contempt. He didn't speak by words, but spoke with telepathy. As his beak didn't move. Ethereal and sadism, but with multiple voices. Of various emotions and feelings. Giving the Guest an unearthly way of speaking. The legend lacked eyes, but he could still see Theodore.

Mr. Peterson rubbed his stubble, listening to the demon speaking. Having to hear multiple voices and emotions at once was annoying, but he had the opportunity to question The Guest. "You think it was an opportunity? One you think Aaron should be grateful for, I know you. You don't play kid games. You tried linking my son to a curse."

"I thought you humans knew the meaning of sacrifice. Do you not know the meaning of "it's for the greater good?" The bird-like beast laughed. His laughter echoing in Theo's mind. The crow creature adjusted his cloak, as he stared. Eagerly waiting.

"So. What are you, trying to make me understand the weight of my actions? I'm no saint, as I have framed Nicky. I have kidnapped him, buried my own daughter in my backyard. And chase anyone I see off my property. Kept Aaron locked in the basement to protect himself from the authorities, if so. You're just making me think different things." The neighbor stared, he didn't care about The Guest. Nor did he care about the cult. The bird society and it's God was like a thorn in his side. He had mixed emotions about The Guest, he loathed him. But he also feared him.

A chuckle of multiple voices, laughing with sadism could be heard, the mustached man clenched his gloved fist. As he didn't find that funny. "Way worse. I may be enforcing and influencing someone's thoughts. But it's actually to torture, haunt and break you." Theodore stared, sternly. Holding a pitchfork at the creature. He shook with a small bit of fear, but kept his composure. Clearly determined.

"It does not matter what I was taking, if I'm lonely, because you don't appreciate it, don't deserve it, or if you love it. What matters is, those who or what is taken. Isn't destroyed, grew distant from or even died. They are gone."

"Right, like making a kid linked to your cult and possessing him is good, you're nothing without bad luck." The man said, sarcastically.

"I might be, I could be a lot of things. Small things, big things. It doesn't matter. What matters is what I'm becoming, little Theo. I'm the monster; I'm the monster that manifests when you think your God takes away your crops, I'm the monster that takes away what you don't deserve. I'm your life's betrayal." The Raven Man claimed it was life's betrayal, one of the Forest Protectors wanted to kill Peterson here and now. But the Guest held him off.

"Why not kill me anyways, instead of being a clown? And not going with your word?"

"New toys to play with. Torture, despair. DEATH! Taking what you don't deserve. As much as I wish I could take credit, your wife wasn't my work. But I did see it."

This set off the green eyed, and suspicious man. He rose from his seat, his well built frame rising up. As The Guest cawed. Peterson was increasingly frustrated.

"Do not bring up Diane into this. Or Mya. But there are kids. I have to deal with, they are trying to send me to prison again."

"Oh, you think you can negotiate with me? I give the word, and my Ravens pay a visit to your son. At a certain house. Consider your position very carefully, Theodore. Because you are not with the power."

He took in the Guest's words. Mr. Peterson didn't at all want Aaron dying by the Forest Protectors, especially after such a threat like that. But he chuckled. Which caught The Guest by surprise. "Maybe I need your help more than you do, feeding off bad luck." A laugh, with opportunity. The Guest turned to Gordon Cleave, a 6'1 blonde man with fierce brown eyes, wearing a brown suit. Cleave also had a tooth pick in his mouth and turned to the Forest Protectors.

"And just, what did I tell you about him? Bold mindset. How have you lived like that? Especially when I and a representation of your guilt attack you?! Your mind and head is mine. Alright. Deal. Help you get rid of Trinity, and Aaron is my host." The Guest referenced The Thing, the representation of Nicky's fears and Theo's guilt.

"Deal." Mr. Peterson shook hands with The Guest, as he warned the creature. Giving it a cold look.

"I will warn you, only once. This is solely a partnership and business. No emotion." The bird like creature warned him.

"I am aware."

Mr. Peterson walked out of the catacombs, and sewers. Heading back to his house. Whilst the Guest transformed into a Raven and flew off to the Forest.

Alright!! So!! So!!!

The color of the fire and who had a lantern/torch/fire was completely purposeful! Blue represents immortals/non-mortals and Orange representing mortals. The reason Foolish is tending an orange fire is because of his totem nature. Tina and Mariana's lights go between the two colors due to them sorta being in the middle ground. Also, all of those who had a light are immortal in my eyes (the exceptions being the Favela Five, who we don't see exactly, and Bad). Then, there's the general symbolism of fire/flame representing life or the soul in some way.

In my eyes, Bad lead both Dan and Trumpet to the other side hence him asking Max to say hi since it's been a while.

Mouse's lantern not being hers is demon shenanigans, same with the fact she's planning on sharing it with Antoine.

Bad and Foolish's conversation is definitely a life/death contrast. Bad refuses the torch despite clearly needing one is a reference to his physical state. He doesn't realize he needs help until it's too late. Foolish is easily able to tell. "Don't get lost." is totally a "I don't want to lose you."

The reason Missa looks at Tina, Mariana, and then Bad is because Bad is supposed to have a light but doesn't. Missa was worried for a fellow reaper!

I was going to mention Rubius being around, but honestly, I forgot! Missa was going to mention seeing Rubius and say that he might be able to help Bad. Bad would say he didn't need any help. It was either that or something about Missa having a feather from Rubius.

I am now realizing how much theme-ing I accidentally gave Missa, but despite being a reaper, he's leading people away from the river! He also has the biggest group! Accidentally contrasting Bad, as he only led a singular person towards the river.

Mariana and Charlie were holding hands for a reason. Slimeriana, my beloved.

Tina being the one to call Bad over, and the one to ask if they'll see Bad back on the island is purely because I like their friendship.

I think that was everything!!

LoZ: TotK - Fungal Pirate Set

Here's a set that I think might go well with the Cece hat. (So long as you get rid of the hair & makeup.)

A white frock coat that reaches down to the ankles with a Cece Brand mushroom patterned border at the bottom & gold detailing. White musketeer shirt with gold-lined ruffled sleeve cuffs, the ruffled cuffs sticking out from under the frock coat's cuffs. Maybe make the collar resemble the odd gold netting that Cece & Sophie have for their collars & have it stick up past the frock's collar. Also, a feather to the hat.

High-waisted double-buttoned Victorian breeches. Black ornate men's captain boots with gold Cece Brand buckles; breeches legs tucked into the boots. Lacey white & gold-lined men's cravat with a Cece Brand brooch. Gold Cece Brand buttons. Buttons & brooch resemble the gold Cece applique on the canon hat. Gold hoop pirate earrings with the Cece Brand symbol & a turquoise bead on each. The lace ruffles should match the ruffles on the canon Cece hat & the cravat resembles the lace veil at the back of the hat. Also, puffy mushroom shoulder pads.

(I'm not really satisfied with the cravat, honestly. I couldn't figure out how to orient the folds right. They should fold under at the sides, not over... And I'm not entirely sure about the pattern I used for the lapels... I might just use half of the pattern & turn it on its side.)

And finally, a version featuring the OG Cece Pattern.

Still got some work to do, but I think I'm almost finished.

Also, 86 the bright pink hypermodern hair that covers the eyes & the blue lipstick. Just let them die in a fire.

Link's natural hair could, instead, be pulled into a stylized Victorian men's ponytail with a leather Viking's hair tie; Cece Brand, of course.

And, finally, maybe give him a thin mustache & goatee like this.

Here's some better looks at the patterns I used for the frock. The top one is also used for the Cece Brand Viking hair tie. At least the top half of the pattern is.

I just feel like something like this would match Cece's ostentatious style while also managing to look classy at the same time. Because the hat when paired with the canon hair & makeup looks like something that a trashy whore with a rich sugar daddy might wear.

I'm not sure what I'd make the effect or the Set Bonus, but I'll think about that later. Maybe something like Mushroom Gatherer, which could allow you to possibly get 2 mushrooms instead of one when you pick them & the more of the set you wear, the higher the chance? Or it could increase the effectiveness of mushrooms when cooking? Also, maybe the Set Bonus could be something like Scimitar Proficiency because Scimitars resemble cutlasses?

Edit: Listen, ya'll seem to be missing the fact that I don't like the original design for the Cece Hat because the hair & makeup are fugly.

Very few people can pull off the blue lipstick look & Link is very much not one of them. Same with the neon pink hair in a weird ass bob that covers the eyes. Put those 2 together & I don't know if there's anyone who'd look good in them.

I mean... it's possible to make that lipstick shade look good on him, but the hair especially makes that difficult to do. Even just keeping his natural hair color would vastly improve the overall synergy of the colors.

This isn't something that I'm saying out of "bigotry." I'm saying it because the pink bob with the lapis lipstick looks more at home on a clown.

I wouldn't even like them on a woman, so if you take this as some sort of slight against crossdressers or men who wear makeup, then that tells me more about how you think of them than what I do.

FYI, I didn't mind the Gerudo Set or the Frostbite Set as much as I do the Cece Hat. Because while I'm not a fan of crossdressing or drag & I think that they were too on the feminine side for what I think looks best on Link, at least they looked good.

Because good aesthetics are good aesthetics no matter what sex you are. And, I hate to break it to you, but not everyone is going to look good in something & there's no changing that. Some people look good in one thing & other people look good in other things. And Link doesn't look good in a bright pink bob & cobalt lipstick.

Take it or leave it.

Starting off the batch this time is Blue Team by @hishap, as some very graceful and elegant slugcats. The explosive spear works around as well as a normal bomb, right? It's probably fine. With Wil as Discount Pikachu, Tera as "kinda sorta lizard", and Mimi as Definitely A Normal Slugcat Do Not Look Closer, they're at least going to be a fun party for Jolly Co-Op. We colored these ones while having a major case of Herr Handshakes, so please do excuse any errors - we're doing our best!

Whirr by @mothbeasts is a Black Lizard, and by far the one we took the most design liberties with - in our defence, "mole lizard" just seemed to fit! He gets bonus legs. Always a good thing. We're sure he can figure it out eventually. The lack of hands might fuck with the baking plans a teeny bit, though. At least he can glow in the dark (not that he'll be able to see it, mind you - black lizards are entirely blind).

Larry by @ultimaxinatank is our preview, and also a slugcat. That makes two wasps who got Slugged here, too - two and a half? In our defence, Slugcat seemed the best fit for all of them. Maybe it runs in the wasp hive. There are a startling number of wasps on this page in general. Popular bug to OC-ify, we guess. Very fun to draw!

Ari by @aridis is a Scavenger - a very, very blue one at that. We took a bit of liberty on the color scheme here, but hopefully it still reads - she's got hands! She's got fluff! She can stab people with spears while residing in a small community! Might pick up a tiny bit of fascination with pearls, but that's normal. Just... make sure they don't steal the pearls off of someone's mask. Bad diplomatic move.

Speaking of Scavengers, Kivik by @fallenvoidhere is a Scavenger Chieftain, and one of two bosses on this sheet - those pearls are incredibly fiddly to do, but at least they make him more impressive? He gets off better than most of the other people here, at least - he's got hands! Dexterity, even! He's better off than his teammate, at least. The symbol on the mask here is The Pilgrim, though it might have photographed a bit oddly - the cloak is a bit more gray and less green in person.

Last but certainly not least, Cherry Blossom by @w-krajobrazie-zapomnienia is a King Vulture, and by far the biggest undertaking as far as technique goes. All those feathers are hand-blended. Wouldn't recommend doing this. Our markers are alcohol-based and we were using a wet paintbrush to blend. At the very least, the markings were fun to do - very swoopy and whirly! Being Marigold's former opponent, the least she can do is offer a quality form to hang out in, and though the lack of hands is difficult... oh, well, we're sure he can figure something out. He's got spears now! That's a plus, probably! Who needs to hold things when they can fly?
