ON WATERS SO INVITING.
Tumblr media
Because tonight, neither of you can hold back from tasting the honeyed tea directly from each other’s lips.
ft. Wriothesley x gn! reader.
cw/genre: fluff, romance.
what’s this? aya finally posting a fic? insert dramatic gasp. anyway, dedicating this one to @bunny-rambles @https-furina and @dearemilia <3 to my favorite wriothesley lovers, I hope you enjoy this, mwah !
if you enjoy this, reblogs and comments help more than likes !
Tumblr media
Notes of an herbal aroma fill the dim lit room.
Down here, it is sometimes difficult to keep track of time or the seasons, but the one constant that oftentimes keeps you sane are these meetings.
You are aware they take place once every week, just between him and you.
Steaming mugs are set atop the table separating you two.
Lately, you’ve started wishing the distance of it wasn’t there at all.
Softly clearing your throat, you place your hands around the warm cup. You take a moment to inspect its pattern, seeing how you had yet to encounter two identical sets.
You bring the liquid to your lips, taking the chance to briefly stare at the man before you while he focuses on some documents.
Unruly ebony strands stick out in different directions, somehow still managing to fall flatteringly over his face; sharp eyes, the color of starlit icicles scan over the pages, sharp jawline set, lips a taut line; your gaze travels lower still, helplessly getting lost in the contrast of black leather bands over the pale scarred skin of his neck.
Bitter. The tea you just tasted, but also the fact you have to pretend you two are just coworkers.
Although, sometimes, you thought he played you intentionally.
“Honey?” You ask, putting down your cup, beginning to stand up to get the honey jar from the adjacent shelf.
“Yes, dear?” Is the answer uttered in his baritone.
You scoff, frowning, as you place your hands on your hips.
“Wriothesley, I meant if you want honey for your tea.” You explain, tone pointed.
The warden puts down his paperwork, leaning back on his chair, that chilling gaze of his landing on you as his lips half curl into a devious grin.
“No, that won’t be necessary, thank you.” He says, that slight smirk still on his face.
You nod, returning to your seat, jar of honey in hand.
As you start mixing the thick golden liquid with your not-sweet-enough tea, you can still note his eyes on you.
It’s not that the feeling of the shiver his actions send down your spine is unpleasant per se, but you’ll start having trouble maintaining the composed facade if he keeps this up.
“Did you find anything interesting regarding the investigation?” You inquire, stirring your beverage.
Wriothesley leans a little forward, his own tea, untouched.
Strange; he was always the one to suggest you have some, after all.
“Yes to something interesting.” He states, resting his cheek on one of his hands. You swear those fingerless gloves of his are too distracting. “But it’s not related to the investigation.”
You raise an eyebrow, sipping on your finally sweet tea.
“Care to enlighten me, Your Grace?” You tease, as your honeyed lips tilt up in a grin.
The man chuckles, standing up from his seat, rounding the table towards where you are.
“I can enlighten you alright, if you’re willing to offer a little collaboration.” The Duke whispers, from behind you, lips almost brushing the shell of your ear.
You swallow, putting down your drink in fear you’ll end up spilling it with how fast your heart is hammering against your ribcage.
“Alright.” You choke out.
“Good.” He approves. With a swift move, he takes your hand, making you stand up too.
“Wriothesley, what are you doing? Your tea is going to get cold…” You try for a serious tone, but your voice comes out smaller than you would have liked.
“Hm? What was that? If I remember correctly, you wanted to know what I found, no?” Is his response, as he brushes some flyaway strands away from your face, his calloused thumb softly brushing over the pink of your lower lip.
“Wriothesley…” You utter, breathless.
“Shhh, don’t say a thing now, sweetheart.” He tells you, his face tilted to the side, one of his hands holding your chin, guiding your gaze to his, as the other cradles your cheek.
And those frosted sky eyes.
You may not be able to see the light blues painted by daylight every dawn from down here, but, right now, you’re pretty sure you prefer the shade of His Grace’s stare.
Who could blame you, for your next actions, when the distance between you suddenly vanishes and he’s reciprocating them?
You stand on your tiptoes.
And then, your lips collide against the Duke’s.
He kisses you back, more gentle than you would have expected.
Bitter and sweet flavors mingle in the annihilated space between you, as your fingers tangle in his dark hair and his hands grab your waist.
Wriothesley kisses you as if he’s drinking in the sunlight he’s been deprived of for ages; sweetly, tenderly, as if he was afraid this gold rush would disintegrate right before him; searing, the burning sensation of raw ice on bare skin.
And you can’t have enough of it, of him.
Months of yearning, of dreaming awake, finally realized in the burning of your lungs at the lack of air when his lips envelop yours.
Alas, his enlightenment only went so far for today, for the next thing you know, he’s pulling away, that same grin on his features once again, as you chase after the fading kiss.
An index over your lip’s cupid’s bow stops you, though.
“Found it interesting?” The man that currently has you on the palm of his hand questions, amusement laced through the lilt of his voice.
You reach a hand out, delicately running your thumb over the scar beneath his right eye.
He takes ahold of your hand, planting a lingering kiss on the back of it.
“Let’s find out more about it tomorrow, shall we?” The Duke utters, as he starts towards the door of his office. “By the way, that honey is very good.” Are his last words before he exists, eyes flitting from the jar to your lips.
And so, you stand there, alone and lovestruck, both your hands holding your burning cheeks as you contain a squeal.
Tomorrow can’t come fast enough.

Representing Biracial Black South American Experiences…Through a White/Asian Mixed Race Character in Europe
@colombinna asked:
I have a YA story that's in very early development - pre-alpha, if you will. For now what I have developed is the characters: one of the MCs is a biracial asian queer girl (her dad is thai-american and japanese, her mom's white), she has a medium/dark brown skin, and lives in a very white context in a fictional European country. The contact she has with her extended family is limited to phone calls and regular visits because her dad moved from the US to said fictional European country.
I'm a biracial black queer girl myself, living in a very white community in South America, my extended black family also lives in a different place, and I'm taking a lot of my experiences of being not white and queer whilst living in white communities into her story (the feeling of not belonging, the impostor syndrome, standing out as one of the only POC kids in class, etc) and thinking back to what I've heard asian friends and classmates say about their experiences in the same school/community context as mine. But I want to know how different her experiences as a dark-skinned asian girl would differ from mine and my friends' in a similar context (white community, small number of other asian people - and POC in general - in the social circles, and limited contact to her extended family), and what experiences could make sense if the character was biracial black like myself, but won't if she's biracial asian.
Why not write a biracial Black girl if those are the experiences you want to represent?
This MC is straddling, like, 3 different cultures. Having multiple immigrant identities in not-Europe is not the same experience as being Black in South America; while both are complex minority experiences, there are too many differences in intersections and histories to compare. Not to mention, it really depends on what European culture(s) you’re basing your not-Europe on.
I think you’ll find that the written result will ring much more genuine and rich in depth if you either translate your experiences more directly or pick a more narrow focus, instead of assuming that there is a universal for racism and colorism against biracial people that is transferable across contexts. Because there isn’t. There can be overlaps, but if you’re looking to cover the entire range of What It’s Like in general, it won’t work.
This isn’t to say that people can’t use other identities to write about specific experiences of their own, but in this case you need to think about what story you want to tell and what your reasons are. Marika’s commentary will go more into when and how this can be done effectively.
Also, if the point is to make her a dark-skinned Asian, as a white/asian mix myself, I implore you: why must you make her 1/4 Japanese and 1/2 white? Even with the Thai ethnicity thrown in, Thai people very much range in skin tone and have their own domestic issues with colorism. It’s not impossible for dark-skinned examples of your MC’s ethnic makeup to exist, but still I don’t recommend it for two reasons:
It's going to make researching people whose experiences fit that much more difficult. Most experiences of colorism, othering, and other forms of discrimination that mixed white asians tend to face are completely different from mixed race asians who tend to have darker skin & features.
There's enough Japanese & white mixed Japanese rep in the Asian rep sphere as is. Consider that this individual could be mixed Asian (not Japanese) with something else (not white)!
But again, think over your motivations. I’ll spare you the copy/paste of our Motivations PSA, but re-read it and consider. Why do you wish to write a mixed Asian character to tell the story of your experiences as a mixed Black individual instead of a mixed Black character? What does it add to the story? Is it an effective vessel for the experiences you want to convey?
~ Rina
I think Rina brings up some good points here: I’m not hearing a lot of specificity in your query. As you doubtless know firsthand, the more intersectional and complex an identity, the more of a chance the identity may come with unexpected baggage and nuances that fly in the face of what is common sense for less intersectional identities. This can make writing such characters challenging just because there is so much choice on which identity themes to emphasize.
I once spent about 15 minutes explaining to a person the thought process I used to determine when I could wear jeans depending on which country I was living in as a mixed race person who is perceived as different things in different places. It might seem trivial, but it’s actually very important to me for the purposes of identity, safety and gender presentation, so I personally think it’s interesting. But will my readers think a character’s multi-page internal monologue on whether or not to wear jeans is especially compelling? Does the writer-version of me want to research the version of myself musing on my specific jeans conundrum to that extent? Or do I want to talk about other things related to attire a lot of other people would relate to? I think those are all YMMV questions, but hopefully, they provide some perspective that will help you be intentional about how you might want to tackle something potentially very time-consuming.
When I say intentional, I mean that when covering a complex identity with which you are peripherally familiar, it will always be more effective and easier to use it to tell a specific story extremely clearly than to be extremely broad in scope and try to include almost everything about your own experiences, especially because some of those experiences might not be as relevant for your character’s background as they are to yours.
One of my favorite childhood picture books is written and illustrated by a Nikkei writer-illustrator team. The book is titled Ashok by Any Other Name (link). The story features a desi child growing up in the US who wishes he had an American name his friends and teachers wouldn’t think was strange. It covers how being othered for his name makes him feel, and how he copes with that feeling. Speaking as someone both Japanese and desi, I think through the plot device of names perceived by the majority of Americans as foreign, this book aptly shows how many immigrant/diaspora creators are capable of relating to the pressures of assimilation experienced by other immigrant, even if the creator, the audience and the story’s subject’s backgrounds all don’t completely overlap 100%.
There will be aspects of your Blackness, mixed identity, skin color, sexuality and living in a local community lacking diversity as a member of many minority groups that you will find resemble/ resonate with the experiences of mixed-race, Japanese individual in a Europe-themed setting, and I think any story that leans into those themes will be considerably easier for you to research. In other words, instead of asking us “How does my experience differ?” I would approach this issue by deciding what narrative you want to show about your own experience and then research the specific contexts within which your desired story overlaps with elements of mixed-race Japanese experiences.
- Marika.

Spelldon Monster High Custom
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Once I saw that G3 Deuce had green skin, I knew I had to try my hand at making Spelldon Cauldronello. I re-haired him and flocked the sides of his head with yarn to imitate dreads. I sewed him a jacket, shirt, joggers, and socks. I made his little potions (out of beads), earrings (also out of beads), necklaces, gloves, pointed ears (I wish I could have gotten them smoother, but they were so delicate that I could not sand them without them breaking), shoes (out of paperboard and papier-mâché), and repainted his face (my first full face repaint and daaang was that difficult to try and make his eyes and eyebrows look related to one another).
He’s not perfect, but he was super fun to pose and creating him was a HUGE learning experience (like to start sealing all of my thread knots with fabric glue).
You’re more than welcome to draw fanart/make your own based on mine, just tag me- I’d love to see them. Feel free to comment what you like/dislike think I should improve on. :)
Edit: thank you for all the sweet comments in the reblogs guys. You’re all making my day. :)
More under the cut
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Close ups of his left side (I like how this ear turned out the best).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And his right side. I couldn’t get this side smoothed out to save my life, haha. Hopefully his earrings distract enough from it. Keeping beads from old bracelets come in handy! These were just the right size for him. I repainted the lower earring in black, with a stripe of purple, and added silver Ancient Greek designs on either side.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
One more close up of his left ear and earring (I added a purple pentagram in the center of the silver Greek designs and the color shift sparkle paint around the rim). His upper earring is the same as his right lower earring, but has an orange stripe.
His face-up took awhile, but it is very rewarding to finally give him a face. I tried to make it look like the factory g1 monster high face up and took a lot of inspiration from his older sister Casta’s pupils. I gave him darker purple eyes, with the yellow/gold zig-zags. I gave him three moles, instead of just the one that Casta has, to mix it up a little. I did take a little inspiration from G3 for his eyebrows to add some orange and purple streaks in the front and a cut in his left eyebrow (I don’t know if that is still trendy, but I think it looks cool). The eyebrows are still not super symmetrical, but I already sealed it. I went back and forth on what I wanted his lip colors to be (I know I wanted something two toned) but finally decided on a dark purple upper lip, with a green outlined lower lip.
Tumblr media
Also G3 heads are SUPER difficult to try and reattach (and remove) and have to be VERY squishy to put back on their bodies (even after I had trimmed down the neck peg).
Okay, onto his wardrobe! I wanted to imitate Casta’s color pallet: black, orange, purple, silver (and sparkles and studs), while bringing in more “witchy” themes (the buckles, stripe socks, and pentagrams), and his scaritage from his mama Circe (hence the potions, boars on his shirt and shoes, the greek vase designs and the boar designs being black on orange -like the Ancient Greek vases). Even on the Greek designs, I put some teeny tiny pentagrams (namely on his jacket sand socks).
Tumblr media
His jacket took the longest (his shoes were the second longest). It is fully lined (the sleeves have a white lining to keep staining to a minimum), and working pockets. I liked the sparkly material I found, but does it shed like crazy (I used it for his collar, cuffs, pockets, and the bottom of his jacket in the back, and wrong side-out for his sleeves -they still have silver sparkles showing though and it doesn’t shed…but it will catch on things). I used thin ribbon for the outside of his pockets (next time I will fabric glue the ends shut on all my ribbons and a thicker ribbon for the bottom of his coat), and bent some wire into buckles. I also used ribbon wire and looped black thread over it to make it look like a zipper. I used fabric paint for the pattern down the front and REALLY hope it stays on there.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I really wanted a mesh back to his coat (I love how that part turned out), and then added this purple sparkly ribbon to his sleeves. He was going to have another pentagram in the back but it was too much (but it left a cool shadow of the star after I removed it).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
His gloves are made of mesh and ribbon (with glitter fabric glue continuously added on top of each other, and then painted silver, to make the spikes on his knuckles -same thing I did with his choker and shoes). His nails are painted black with the same color flash glaze paint as part of his earrings.
Tumblr media
Okay onto his main outfit without the coat (he’s much more fun and easier to pose without his jacket).
Tumblr media
“Spelldon, please move your necklace out of the way, so we can see your shirt better, thank you.”
Tumblr media
Close up of his wild boar and Greek vase designs on his shirt (done in fabric paint). I REALLY love how the boar turned out as I was SUPER nervous I was going to mess it up. Having a boar/Greek vase design on an orange shirt was also inspired by @spookberry ‘s design of Spelldon. His necklace pendant was another bead I had (and it worked great for attacking thread too).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Side and back of his outfit (you can see some of that stray black glitter).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“‘Scuse me Spelldon, can you lift your shirt so we can see you joggers better? Thank you.” His joggers/capri’s and socks were inspired by @peppapigvevo ‘s Spelldon design. Once again I used ribbon, that sparkly material for his waistband and cuffs, and silver fabric paint for Greek vase design.
Tumblr media
I attached a chain to his joggers and added these potion bottles (while Casta looks like she uses more magic spells and incantations through her singing, I like to think Spelldon uses potions -more like his mom). I made these potions out of wire, beads, thread and air-dry clay.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Onto his shoes and socks. I made the shoes out of paperboard and paper-maché. I wanted them to be boar themed while still having pentagrams and studs on them. They turned out a bit wonky (and a tad too long -but it helps him stand up, haha), but I spent too much time on them to redo them, haha. His shoe sole I also painted with that sparkle flash glaze paint too. I also gave him the striped socks, because I love striped socks and tights on witches.
Tumblr media
“Thanks for holding still Spelldon, and being patient with me.” I’m going to make another post or two with comparisons with his sister, some of my other customs, and some vampire that claims he knows him or something, heehee.
Oh yeah! My sketches for him:

OK so I'm feeling some guilt I started to draw cartoony like you but I get frustrated because it does bot look perfect like yours it's mostly small stuff like colors and clothes I love making cartoony body's sometimes clothing but I have color picking because I'm still new to art that has colors is my feelings normal or is it wrong of me? And how do I pick colors because it frustrated me to no end and made me stop drawing for months anyway in short summary how do I color the right way like I guess I know skin tones but anything else goes wrong and the other summary is how do you draw clothing because I can't for the life of me get clothing right
don't worry - it's normal to get frustrated when drawing. i know i've literally quit and deleted entire illustrations in the past because i didn't like how the colors came out, and i can spend whole hours just choosing base colors TwT i think the important part about learning art is not to rush. i'm seriously flattered you see me as inspiration, but what worked best for me back when i heavily referenced other artists was "mixing" styles together to create a "new" one - so i'd recommend studying and copying multiple artists you like and trying to blend their styles into one if that makes sense! ^^
hating color picking is completely normal when you're first starting out, and even late into art like i said before - i've been making original digital art on ibispaint for about 5 years now, and it's still difficult. but it's easy to make it fun, and the best way to do that imo is to experiment! i'd recommend studying color theory on a larger scale, and understanding how certain colors might look completely different based on where you put them. or maybe make an illustration and color it in a bunch of alternative ways! also, having "bad" or "awful" color skills starting out is OK - i still think my colors suck sometimes even now lol.
anyway, the best way for me to color pick is to just use that color for whatever the OG artist used for their art. let's use alex ahad as an example because i find his art and color use super interesting -
i don't usually color pick, but when i do, i typically start with picking the eye color. then, based off of the eye color, i chose a base color based on the character's color pallete (easier of the eye color is already close to the main color of the character, which for clyde is turquoise).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
then, i pick more colors directly from the reference, for stuff like skin. at this point i have a good idea of the colors i want to use and stop color picking from the ref, but there's no shame if you still feel you need to.
Tumblr media
after that, based on the colors i picked, i'll color in the rest of the piece. i usually end up changing the colors that i did take from the reference due to experimenting - for me, i just use color picking as a sort of stepping stone for when i'm not sure how to color a piece the exact way i want.
Tumblr media
eventually, you can learn to color pick by eye rather than with the picking tool in your art program, tho that takes a lot of knowledge on color theory.
really there is no "right" way to color, especially for skin imo - don't limit yourself to just peach, tan and brown. clyde's skin is bright white, but i still used a yellowy color here because it was relative to the other colors in the piece. i've also used "alien" tones for human-toned characters in the past before!
Tumblr media
and about clothing folds - i can make a full post on that if anybody else is interested OuO

Apparently Tumblr deleted this post so here I am posting it again.
Nifty Redesign!
Is it Niffty or Nifty??? I need answers
So far- My fav redesign I've done!
Tumblr media
Details under the cut!
Here's what I learned researching her:
From what I was able to find, Nifty died in the 1950s at the age of 22. She's Japanese, boy crazy, and hyperactive.
She's meant to be based off of a ladybug. She's obsessed with chores but is secretly very dirty: even crushing bugs with her bare hands.
.. yet she doesn't look anything like a ladybug. Which boggles my mind concerning the fact that many ladybugs are red or brown, and have patterns, yet Viv doesn't take advantage if that at all??
Overly complicated patterns mixed with the color red are Vivziepop's favorite thing of all time. Why doesn't Nifty look anything like a ladybug?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, I decided to give her more bug features, I took a little bit of inspiration from things like The Jetsons and 1950s wallpaper patterns. I wanted to mix ladybug, hotel staff, and 1950s housewife together (since she's so boy crazy, I figured she'd want to look like her time periods standard of the quote on quote: "ideal woman" if that makes sense.)
I decided just to use my skin tone markers for her face, because I didn't want to make her the same white color that all the other characters are, and I did not want to make a Japanese character yellow. (Yes I know that they made her Japanese *after* making her yellow, but still.) I also made her hair black, but I kind of kept the Jetsons style hair. I'm aware that show technically came out in the '60s, but a lot of the fashion in that show was very 50s inspired
I did however, use yellow for some of the accents to the outfit like her gloves. Since yellow did seem to be like a popular color in the 1950s from what I could tell. Though it was a very colorful time period in general lol
I've seen some people give her a feather duster tail, and I honestly thought that was super cute so I did the same. I gave her four legs to match the bug thing and to make sense of how fast she is. And I gave her antenna, she's a bug, she should have them.
I gave her a ladybug themed apron.
I mostly used color palettes that were really popular on dresses from back in the day. And I gave her lipstick, since I noticed it seemed to be kind of popular back then, but maybe that's just me over thinking it.
So yeah, what do y'all think?
Next up I'm either going to do Cherri Bomb or Velvette. Velvette has been incredibly difficult, I want to cry aaaa
Edit: here are some of the early concept / reject designs I did. Lmao
Like I said, usually I have to draw a character a few times before I'm happy. And I don't want to make it seem like I think I'm so brilliant when I'm doing this. I'm showing you guys part of my process, including my mistakes
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At some point I was going to make her a praying mantis. Because they're really cool bugs, but then I realized cleaning was going to be much harder with scythe hands

Something silly about larry who comforts reader because I had a breakdown about my relationships lol
Also inspired by the song moves from Suki Waterhouse and he may be a little high idk
The school's parties have always been strangely uncomfortable events that most people attend simply because there weren't more interesting things to do in Nockfell or.... No, those were actually all the reasons why the school gymnasium was more crowded than usual. The cheapest gaudy colorful decorations hung on the walls and ceiling imitating streamers, and the tables were decorated with tablecloths in strange patterns. Not to mention the food which was the most ordinary snacks. For the most part, it resembled a normal school day, but more elegant. That's why you didn't want to come. There was no point in wasting time getting ready just because someone on the school staff wanted to throw a party to welcome spring. What was it, kindergarten?
Unfortunately, however, you ended up at this unfortunate party, or more precisely, due to your partner. Things had been getting worse between you lately, you were constantly arguing, even about silly things. Going out and having fun together was supposed to at least get your relationship back on track, but it ended just as you might have expected. - Would you please stop reproaching me! We came here to have fun!- your partner said through clenched teeth so that the others would not draw their attention to you, although the tension between you was palpable to the point of being over the top. - According to you, flirting with other girls is fun?- you asked in response equally annoyed and your voice faltered. He did it all the time, acted as if he wasn't in a relationship at all, and when you paid attention to him, the argument started. - I was just talking to them! Do you have to make it so difficult to be with you? You know what, I do not want to hear your answer. If I'm bothering you so much then enjoy yourself.- He announced in a harsh tone without even allowing you to respond only turned away the tension and went to his friends thus leaving you alone. For a moment you still stood still staring ahead before you felt a tightness in your chest.
Crying itself wouldn't have been such a terrible thing yet, if it weren't for the fact that there were people around you who knew you and who might be too pinched the next day at school. - fuck it all- you said to yourself in your mind while taking your purse from one of the tables and quickly headed towards the exit. Your heart was beating uncomfortably fast and your vision was blurred by tears wanting to run down your cheeks. You only allowed it when the still gently cool air hit your face. You sat on the stairs throwing your purse somewhere off to the side, not even anything of value was there. You don't even know what or who exactly you were angry at, that stupid party? Those girls there, that asshole or at yourself for letting yourself be treated that way. A shudder went through your body through your sobs. It was so overwhelming, believing that anything would change. Maybe you really were to blame yourself?
- Not that I'm judging, but I don't think this is where the party is- a playful boy's voice next to you spoke up, making you feel even worse. Lifting your gaze your eyes appeared none other than Larry Johnson. You were familiar with him from art class, but you never had any major interaction, occasionally he threw in some joke during class or something, but mostly you were strangers to each other. Shame mixed with despair for you. However, it did not escape your attention that his expression changed seeing your red eyes and tears still running down your skin. Surely he looked confused, but also slightly panicked? Most likely because of his misplaced joke.
- sorry, this is probably not the right moment- he added immediately with a nervous smile, and his hands began to correct the sleeves of his dark shirt.
- nothing happened, it won't get any worse-you replied without anger or irritation, and this curious thing worried him even more. He moved uncomfortably not knowing what he should do, he wasn't very good at comforting people, but he also didn't want to just leave you, it seemed just as awful. Willing or not, he also took a seat on the stairs, farther away from you to keep a proper distance, but he was there.
- You'd better not say that, or something worse will really happen.- He said wanting to lighten the atmosphere and reached into the pocket of his pants to pull out crumpled cigarettes and a lighter. You felt like crying even more. You silently wiped your tears while looking at your shoes. You heard him use the lighter, and immediately took a drag. You wondered if he was sitting with you out of pity.
- I don't know how to comfort people, if I started talking some cheerful nonsense it would hardly even help- He started to speak wanting to support you in any way. You interrupted him before he could speak further.
- This is solely my fault. I brought myself to such a state- You said raising your eyes to look ahead. Your hands were resting on your knees, it's been a long time since you felt this bad.
Larry was silent for a while, and only through the still hovering cigarette smoke were you sure he was next to you.
- I do not know what exactly happened, but if it is not a meteorite falling from the sky then you can always change something. I mean, the simplest things bring results.- He shrugged his shoulders, he really did not know how to comfort. His words were so simple and yet true and made the
that the wind was not so cold.
- Unless someone hurt you, then it all doesn't matter, please tell me it's not that- he quickly added realizing that he really didn't know what had happened. You shook your head so that sometimes he wouldn't start panicking along with you too.
- Thank goodness, in that case, what else can you do but try to make a difference?- He returned to his speech, and you began to wonder if he knew it was about your partner. You had always thought that your relationship was quite private and no one but you knew about your bickering, but now you were beginning to doubt it. You had no intention of asking, for your own comfort.
- I can sit here and cry further- You suggested quietly wiping your cheeks on which there were fewer and fewer new tears. Turning your head to the side immediately your gaze met his. He was just taking a drag on his cigarette, but at your words he raised his eyebrows.
- In that outfit? On the stairs where everyone walked by wiping their shoes? Along with Travis?- he said with feigned disbelief. Your eyes continued to be red and glassy, but instead of sobbing you burst into laughter. His words were so silly as to be funny, and his facial expression only added more to the humorous flavor of it all.
- bleh, You just made me want to burn this dress now and I feel even worse- You complained while getting up from your seat which brought a smile to his face, he was in no hurry to get up from his seat.
- I'm just telling the truth- He replied finishing his smoke with that he threw the cigarette on the ground and crushed it with his shoe. You looked at him not knowing what to feel anymore. You continued to feel awful, but it was more bearable than a moment before.
- are you going back inside, or are you going home?- he asked, casting his gaze to the front door from behind which the music was still coming.
- I will go home. I'm sorry that you had to witness my breakdown- You muttered, not really wanting to deal with shame yet now, there will be a good time for that, for example, the next day.
- me? I had a nice time at the party, my couple was a little emotionally unstable, but otherwise it's pretty good.- He said once again making something other than sadness appear on your face.
- just don't tell anyone about it- You said going down the rest of the stairs. You didn't hear if he answered you and so it didn't matter now, the confusion in your head was drowning out everything anyway.
Maybe you really could have changed everything? Start all over again?
He made it sound so easy, and even if he was joking, maybe that was the truth? You wondered about this all the way back to your house.
Getting everything in order took a little longer than you would have liked and definitely longer than just crying in your room, but the final decision has already made some changes.
Being single and taking extra art classes really served you!

infodumping about my alien species i made a while back <33
xeclopzes
you can make one too!! just credit me as the origanal maker of the species :)) its open species too
this species tends to have short fur with a floofy tail but however they can become super fluffy all over their body.
their skin tones come in usually cold colors its very rare for a warm colored one or a mix in between the too(which is difficult to come by) or they'll have markings on their body which is somewhat common they are born with one eye no mouth no nose.
their eye color and sclarea can depend it can be many different colors however black slacrea is most common in the species green eyes are most common they can shapeshift by changing their fur color and being able to use their eye to make a face on the topic of eye they eat and drink through their eye
they can shapeshift into anything (objects, people animals) they usually shapeshift to either blend in, to kill, or to hunt for food and or resources they can regenerate limbs HOWEVER!! if a limb is corrupted it falls off and doesnt regen
their tail also gives them balance i may clarify that they mainly speak in an standard Galactic however they can mock other languages to speak in said language they also mark their own fur by dying it so like a tattoo

is it difficult to make art being colorblind? it says your colorblind in your bio
I wouldn’t say it’s difficult to make art, it’s difficult to make it look coherent sometimes, especially when the colors are where I have trouble differentiating them. Sometimes I interpret colors wrong (for a long time I thought Kunikida from bsd had a green color palette).
(More under read more)
Tumblr media
I’m protanomaly, so I’m not that bad. It doesn’t make much problems with my art, besides when I struggle with skin tones. I tend to make skin tones look really dull.
Digital art has a lot of resources to make it easier, and I have friends with shrimp eyes I can ask for color advice.
Other mediums like when I do beadwork I struggle a lot more because if those beads mix I can get lost easily. Sometimes I have to check with others to make sure I picked the right color.
My biggest struggle with protanomaly actually comes from my job lol. Endo agar plates for identifying coliforms are nearly impossible for me to interpret.
Tumblr media
Also, Gram stains that are done shittily can be hard to interpret, but Gram stains are so easy that you can just try again.

I once saw someone complain about the color of Cassandra’s eyes in Wayne Family Adventures, and blamed it on “colorism.” And that just annoyed me because one, her eyes were colored dark gray, I thought they were meant to be black, and two, Cass is half-white. She’s mixed. And as a mixed guy who looks more white than Asian it annoys me when people decry having ANY features from the white parent as “colorism” or “racism” on the part of artists. Cass is already pretty obviously Asian. Mixed kids exist too!
This also goes for some of the discourse on Damian. Yes, he should get features from his mom. Yes, lots of artists are weird about drawing him. Yes, he can still be lighter than Talia and it’s not racist.
Since a big chunk of the "Batfamily" fanbase is in the USA (or since the comics originate from the USA) a lot of the ways race is dealt with (or simply ignored) is through how race is perceived in USA society.
A lot of the time, people simply refuse to acknowledge that it's possible to hold features from multiple ethnic backgrounds because they want to lean hard on just a single one of those identities.
In terms of eye color and skin color, that is definitely variable in many ways. You can have an epicanthic fold and still have "colored" eyes. You can be of Arab-Chinese (like Damian is from his mother's side) descent and have an overall light skin-tone. The opposite is also true. You can still be mixed, and have features that people would consider average or normal for certain ethnic backgrounds.
Considering how popular Cass and Damian are, it is understandable that people want them to have certain ethnic features because the representation for those ethnic backgrounds are typically negative, stereotyped or nonexistent (at least in perspective of the USA).
I think with Damian's character specifically, it has more to do with the negative, racist and stereotypical ways Talia is often portrayed. Talia in many of her appearances is the definition of The Dragon Lady stereotype. A femme fatale, self-centered and motivated only by her own goals. Damian's character in that way, is perhaps meant to somehow remedy these faults. Either way, since he's a comic character and not real, there is no set depiction of him that fully confirms what physical genes he's inherited from either parents.
As for Cass, a lot of Eurasians in the USA with a parent whose ethnic background is Anglo-Saxon or Germanic (like David Cain whose nationality is American and thus, most likely of either of those descents) tend to inherit less color based characteristics from their (usually western) European descent parent and more physiognomical features (such as eye shape, usually having a weaker epicanthic fold or nose shape, having a higher nose bridge). Inheriting "colored" eyes is less likely but DEFINITELY not impossible. It all depends on where your parents are ethnically from and how your genes end up recombining.
Now, all that being said, positive representation in the USA of Asian people is still hard to come by, so it is natural for a lot of folks to want characters to have features more typical of fully ethnic Asians. However, everyone deserves to see themselves in a character and the dynamics of mixed features shouldn't be ignored. Unfortunately, the balancing act is difficult to manage and no matter what you do, you'll still have people made at you one way or another.
This was way more detailed than probably intended the stupidly expensive education I paid for was begging to be used at least a little.

as a biracial individual with obviously brown skin and non-western features, wolfin/armazi has experienced instances of prejudice and blatant racism both in the past and present. being a second generation immigrant on her father’s side made it even worse. their father spoke some english, but it was slow and his accent made it hard for people to understand. his darker skin and eurasian features, along with his muslim faith, stood out in a small illinois town filled with white farmers and their families. wolfin/armazi took after their father—they inherited his brown skin and his large nose and his coarse curly hair. they eagerly picked up the scraps of his language and culture that he was willing to teach her, though he insisted they focus on english. her mother also experienced some prejudice for marrying someone who wasn’t white and didn't share her irish catholic faith.
wolfin/armazi's experiences as a child were less obvious. they didn’t know enough to look for them, and their parents would deliberately try to shield them whenever they were on the receiving end in public. sometimes her father would get confused looks from store owners whenever he’d walk in or complaints that they couldn’t understand his accent. sometimes there would be whispers about his brown skin or his facial features or his lack of education (he never went to college), or because he was an immigrant.
much of this was echoed with wolfin/armazi. they were always the last team pick for games at recess. kids made fun of their nose and skin or called her “dirty”. they’d mock their dad in front of their face if he had to come to the school for any reason. sometimes even parents would give them condescending looks. they didn’t have a lot of close friends. in high school, english was one of their worst subjects. they didn’t ever fail it, but they maintained a c average. a teacher once remarked that maybe they “struggled with it because of their background.” most of these displays were subtle and belittling, typical of a small town in the midwest. never anything outright or violent.
things got worse when they went to chechnya to fight in the war. both russians and chechnians recognized their skin tone and features as georgian and called them slurs like “xach,” an armenian word meaning “cross” that’s often used to refer to georgians in a derogatory sense, or “black ass”. they were jumped multiple times by people who attacked them just for the color of their skin. they had to learn russian and chechnian by immersion and were mocked for their foreign accent (though it was american, not georgian) and many assumed they couldn’t speak either language at all even once they'd become fluent. that was when they first really realized that people were treating them this way because of what they looked like. back home, their father had always tried to cover up the hurtful remarks, or they brushed them off as having something to do with growing up on a farm or just because of their dad’s accent. they didn’t notice these issues as much because they didn't know to be aware of them.
while abroad, people often mistook them as a different ethnicity than georgian (usually jewish or arabic). they encountered more slurs such as “mutt” and “dog”. then, when they returned to new york city, it was shortly after 9/11. more people jumped them. more people openly berated them with slurs like “towel head” or “hook nose” or “sand n*gger” because it was assumed their features made them arabic. they weren't white enough or they weren't dark enough. they had no community there. it was difficult to find people they looked like, and when they did, those people would look down on them if they found out they were mixed. over the years, they became very defensive of their heritage both as a georgian and as a biracial individual.

Fish people
Sea kin, theres three kinds of fish people in my setting, mermaids (called mers), finfolk (also called neptonians or neps), and sirens. The main difference between the three species is body shape or more accurately the way they move. mermaids move like dolphins, sirens move like snakes/eals or fish, and finfolk possess legs like a person so they can walk and often use a mix of swimming styles including swimming like a seal, like a person, floating, and swimming like a frog. All of them can be bioluminescent and many of them have some ability to change color all. The three species (technically in taxonomy the same family)  live a long time anywhere from 350 years to 600 years
-they also don’t stop growing. so some of the oldest members of the species can get massive they don’t grow at the same rather through their life
so theres that, but  because they don’t stop growing, they a bit like trees, have good years they grow more than bad year where they grow less, some species grow at faster average rates than others.
-hhhmmm I wonder how that works for hybrids. ill have to think about that. because instead of growing every year they might just grow every few years or so. would probably depend on the hybrid too. ill cover that particular can of worms at some other date.
Meanwhile I should cover the hair issue---
-Some of the fish people have hair, and as someone who has had long hair and swam, I can tell you it creates drag. That is a bit of an issue for things that live in the water. So for these fishies the hair actually has another use. For one thing its rather different then human hair in texture and structure. its usually black or brown in color. the hairs themselves are sort of hollow and can fill up and be drained of water really quickly. when the hair is exposed to water it has an interesting property of being able to slightly change texture. sort of like an octopus's skin but not as dramatic. another interesting property of the sea folk's hair is its ability to change color. the hair can change to blueish- greenish hair tone or sometimes even a more reddish color. this ability is actually very useful for the sea folk who use ambush as their main form of hunting. using their “hair” as camouflage generally making it look like sea weed. theirs ability to change the hairs texture is nonexistent when their hair is dry but the color-changing property is still there. other seafolk with other hunting methods tend to not have hair, and instead are a much more streamlined body. they dont really have body hair either, made clear by a lack of eyebrows. (though they do have short eyelashes)
the normally dark hair color is rather important to the seafolk because most cases where they naturally have lighter or diffrent hair colors can affect tier ability to use their hair as camouflage, famously blond or white hair is a rather detrimental mutation that prevents the ability to change hair color. the current empress of the Neptonian empire is blond, the mutation is relatively rare still in modern times but at least within the Neptonian empire it is not as detrimental due to strong social networks and not needing to be the sole primary hunter in a family. other examples of nonfunctioning mutations of their hair is for the merrow; a fin folk who live just off the coast of Ralunjas, in a place called the red kelp forest. where their hair has more reddish to maroon-ish pink coloration, though some of them have functional brown hair, their adaptation for that specific environment makes it difficult for them to live outside of that environment. the other major group of sea-folk with strange hair mutations are the sjofru of the northern sea and the ice pass. their hair has none of the camouflage qualities so is generally lighter and thinner than what it is for others, their hair often has colors ranging in the blues, grays and greens to soft reds and oranges that tappers out to a near transparent color at the tips. unlike their warmer sea cousins who use the hair for camouflage the tips of the sjofru hair is covered in tiny poison filled stingers, essentially they have jellyfish tendrils for hair. the potency of the venom depends on family.
-The humanoid appearance of the sea-folk is only skin deep and even then, its barely skin deep as demonstrated by their hair. The first thing that separates them from humans is the fact that they have a hexapedal body plan verses a humans quadrupedal body plan. then theres the whole bioluminescence thing. they generally have a few patches of this bioluminescent skin when they do have it. some sea kin depending on species can have other features like antenie or exess fins or scales or other things.
All regular sea folk have these hexapedal body plans though on some species it is more obvious than on others. the fin folk are usually the most easy to the the six limed body as they have their primary arms, secondary arms (usually just called their fins) and their legs, for sirens and mermaids their “ legs” are internal and generally not easy to see but they do have them.
-Sea folk nails are sharp and claw like, and their teeth are sharp too. most species have at least two rows of teeth. Some larger species have three rows. The only species with a singular row tends to be some fresh water ones, but they still usually have some indication of their second row of teeth. Like sharks if they loose a tooth a new one from the back row just moves up to take its place.
They have webbed hands. and for the neps their feet are long and webbed too. some deep sea species that rarely need to use their hands have more fin like hand. that work better as paddels. the webbing is not all the same either. sometimes it is skin that is elongated and stretched between the diddgets, other-times it is a filament mesh of keratin, other times it is a thin mucus producing membrane. for most species getting the membrane torn is not too painful but is rather avoided non the less and the webbing will grow back in some capacity.
Tumblr media
They are all amphibious, able to breath both air and water, though it’s not the most pleasent experience to move between the two substance. As they have to force all of the previous substance out of them, like coughing out all the excess water, with some practice they can do this change in a few seconds as opposed to a few minutes for one who is not accustomed to the change. they are also capable of “holding their breath” for either substance as well. They can have gills in either one or two place. The most common place it right along the neck or where the ribs are located, but some less common but still possible places are, right along the face such as the  cheeks, right below/in the armpit area, or the collar bone area. Speaking of collar bones. they dont have them, or at least not in the same way humans do, like most sea mammals they lack them. instead they might have a more flexible cartilage matrix that has a simmular function when they are on land.  they  also have a bit of an odd structure to their rib cage, they are able to sort of temporarily  "collaps" their sternum  enabling them to more or less squeeze through spaces they can fit their head through.
Tumblr media
The sea folk are able to move between fresh and salt water unlike most regular fish and sea life, but they rarely do this as the transition, especially if it is a fast transition, this can make them very sick. they are also able to temporarily “close up” their gills when they are on land, some species are capable of this for their nosterals as well, and most species have a second eyelid that they close when in water to protect the eye.
Tumblr media
the absurd length of their feet makes it difficult to move around swiftly on land when walking. so for fin folk they tend to walk on their tippy toes and can do so quite easily, but when they stand they go down on a flat foot. unlike humans they can stay up on their tippy toes for extended periods of time. some finfolk species often have shorter feet then their other relatives, these are generally the species who spend more time on land, like the kappa who are primarily river dwelling fin folk, other fresh water fin folk also have shorter fins. though they are not the most agile on land they are quite fast in water, the average sea folk usually have their top speeds somewhere in this range. -finfolk: 20-30 mph ( 32.2- 48.3 kph) - mers: 31- 37 mph ( 49.9- 59.4 kph)  -sirens: 35- 45 mph ( 56.3- 72.4 kph)
- Sea kin can reach great depths. most surface water can regular reach depths of  6600 ft (2000 m), while species more adept for deeper water can comfortably make it to 15000 ft (4500m) while mysterious deep sea sea kin can reach depths of 19685 ft (6000 m). though they can reach these depths they can be in trouble if they try to leave those deep pressures once they have reached them. most deep presures are easier for older and larger individuals to reach and individuals with deeper blood colors. - speaking of blood color i nearly forgot one of the most important differences between humans and sea kin, and one of the main things that diffurenturates them from other kins, their blood color. For one thing each individual of any of those species can have one of three blood colors. the first and most common blood color is red but not the same kind of red as human blood. the red seakin blood is a darker almost maroon or burgandy color. second color is a purple, a very reddish purple like wine, plum or mulberry. the rarest and final color is pink a richer dark pink, like magenta or royal fusia. each blood color results in some slight differences, the main most notable one is lifespan and apparent durability other than that not too much. as blood color is more important socially among the sea folk.
-They have an ability to create a strange calcium mixture that the use as a glue or cement. this is not an ability possessed by every species or even individuals among species. they do use this ability to create safe nesting grounds for themselves. some species like the kappa have adapted this ability for other pourposes. this is an ability that seems to be shared with a strange sea kin called shell people.  one of the downsides of this is the need to eat excess calcium for this sticky mixture, but they do that by eating seashells and bones from whale falls and such.  the substance is soft and malmble for the first minute it is created, exhibiting some properties of a non-newtonian fluids, but if produced right it quickly hardens to a solid regardless of being under water or in the air. it hardens more quickly when exposed to air. -Singing, all of sea kin are known by land dwelling people for having haunting voices able to resonate great distances. and that is true even the worst of their singers can be louder and sound more haunting than any human. this is in part due to a general cultural value of singing as a courting ritual, but also due to having a hollow cavity somewhere in their chest they use to create these higher resonances, this is sort of like whale song. at a smaller scale. they also poses more complex vocal cords. They are only able to produse sound with air. some species can come up for air once in a decade and store and reuse the air for sound, but most of their close corders communication is done through a sigh language. so this is a condensed and hopefully understandable description of the primary seakin.
TLDR; Sea Kin and the three sister species of mermaids, finfolk and sirens are rather human looking but the recemblence is not skin deep, they have diffrent hair, blood colors, and skeletal structures. they are good at singing a lot like whales and they can swim fast. main difference between the three spesies is how they swim, like a dolphin, like a shark or like a frog.

....and a ber and evan kid
@sansloii | If they had a kid... | No longer accepting!
Name: Avali Bireth-Duerr
Gender: Female
General Appearance: She ended up with a skin tone that's actually in between Ber's and Lera's and her hair takes more after Ber's in all but color (where it's kind of a mix of both Evan and Ber's). Her eyes are usually the same dark brown as Evan's, but when she uses her magic, they'll start to turn more green! She also ended up with Evan's height, so even if she's only about 10, she's already almost the same height as Ber...much to his inner dread. He just knows she's gonna be taller than him, eventually! She also has his freckles all over, though they're a little lighter on her.
Personality: Very confident, sometimes to the point of having an air of cockiness. Definitely has that sort of indestructible view of herself-- she knows she's great, and if you don't agree, then you're just wrong. Not even in a mean way, she's just standing there shrugging, like "...Okay, agree to disagree, I guess!". She does sometimes get a little caught up in her own head and anxious, and there are other times that she's just wild and hyper, and a little rebellious...but for the most part, she's a fairly normal kid. Strangers do make her a little nervous, because I'm sure Ber and Evan both would have made sure that she doesn't just immediately trust anyone that might walk up to her.
Special Talents: Telling her family (especially her grandparents) tall tales about "adventures" she goes on. Sometimes though-- especially as she gets older-- they seem a little too realistic. Lera and Ber are starting to think that she might be able to see into the Time Stream, or that she's at least getting little visions connected to it. For now though, at least, they seem to be mostly harmless and happy occurrences...even if they're on the fantastical and exaggerated side, more often than not.
Who they like better: Her grandparents (all three of them!)...or her aunts (this includes Dakota and Nel, because calling them great aunts or whatever feels weird to Vali) and uncles? Maybe her cousins. But Daddy plays lots of cool games with her, and tells the best stories! And Mama plays with her hair and makes it pretty when they watch tv together, and shows her fun magic! She's not sure if she can choose just one person, actually...
Who they take after more: She seems a lot different from both, because she can be pretty impressionable. But at the same time, even when she's different, something at the root of what she's doing is actually so much like one parent or the other, and they don't realize it sometimes until they step back and really watch her. Lera's always saying that she always seems like she has at least some piece of the whole family in her, though-- like having her somehow ties them all together just a little bit.
Personal Head canon: I'm almost 100% certain that she was a complete surprise. Like...the "no symptoms until Ber was almost halfway through the pregnancy" type surprise. Her soul developed really oddly, and close up against Ber's, so for a while, they just figured it was part of Ber's soul regenerating. Shortly after they do realize it though, the turns are tabled, and she becomes hands down the most difficult pregnancy probably across all of Ber's verses. And partly because of how bad the pregnancy was, partly because of the condition that Ber was in afterwards, they had a lot of trouble bonding with her the first few days after she was born. Ber was so distraught about it, thought something was wrong with him-- of course he wasn't meant to be a parent, of course this wasn't going to work out right-- when Viele started crying and fussing in her basinet by his bed. Evan was grabbing some snacks and drinks for them, and taking a little time to stretch his legs after sitting by Ber and the baby's side for the last three or four days. So after laying there for a minute and hoping she would calm down, Ber picked her up, and for the first time since she was born, she stopped crying almost right away for him, and went back to sleep. When Evan comes back into the room a minute or two later, it's to Ber just sobbing over the baby. Probably scares the absolute shit out of the poor man, but Ber can't help it-- it finally clicked, after days, and this is his baby! This is he and Evan's baby girl! And Ber has just loved her with everything he has ever since that moment.

May 10th.
⟅☙⟆ Zodiac Sign ⟅☙⟆
Taurus.
⟅☙⟆ Favorite Color ⟅☙⟆
Caramel.
⟅☙⟆ Appearance ⟅☙⟆
Aimer inherited his father's ample physique, with his dark brown hair and being the second tallest in the family. The tone of his rough skin in mixed, and just like his mother, he has round, golden eyes.
He has two old scars that run across most of his back, which he got from being with his grandfather for the first (and only) time, the time he got his wings ripped off. Thankfully, he got some new ones thanks to his mother. They are light brown, with golden details on them. Of course, they are mechanic ones, but they still work pretty good.
His clothing is... Not exactly for a twenty-something-year-old looking man. Even if he's way more older than that, he dresses in a way that some people may call old-fashioned and tacky... But, of course, other people who know him and are close to him know that it suits his whole "aesthetic". Turtle neck, long sleeves, black t-shirts are usually on him all winter, along with long, warm, dark coats and jeans. On summer, he... Well, he straight up ends wearing the complete opposite; No sleeves, no collar, and only one light sport coat and long sports tights. There's no in-between.
⟅☙⟆ Personality ⟅☙⟆
Aimer's personality is a mystery for most people. He's used to shut his emotions in after a few incidents with people outside his family through out his long life, but the more he tries, the more it kills him inside. He can come as intimidating and cold-blooded rather quickly because of it, making it difficult for both him and the people around the second-born Kurosawa son to interact with him.
If a person is pretty close to Aimer, a conclusion comes in clear: Despite being a serious young man, he sure likes to be a cocky bastard. He loves remarking things that annoy you, but he doesn't do it often. Aimer often loves being the "unpredictable" brother, since everyone assumes not only that he's the eldest, but also that he's a good-two-shoes. It gives him and Convoitise something to bond and some good entertainment. And even if he's the most responsible brother, he's also the one that makes it clear that you don't want to mess with him. Obviously, he can accept a prank or two, but straight up harassment or bullying takes the worst part of him out. It angers him to no end.
Aimer's also a bit... Well, not exactly a "lovey-dovey" person. Still, that doesn't mean he doesn't show love to anyone. Little gestures and words are his way of showing affection, so it's easy to know once you get him. He doesn't need anything back, just behave.
But, on the bright side, Aimer's full of acknowledgement and information, so it's almost like he's a big walking book. He'll help out with anything about history and math, so... Yeah, be kind to him, he might help you with a few exams—
... Might.

⟅☙⟆ Favorite Food ⟅☙⟆
Thalassery Biriyani. Originating from a place called Thalassery in Kerala (India), this biryani comes from a cuisine which is a melting pot of Indian, European and Persian influence. Instead of using normal basmati rice, a special type of rice is used to make this delicacy giving the dish its distinct flavour. Though biryani is of Mughal origin, this cuisine portrays the cultural amalgamation of Malabari and Mughal cuisines and is one of the most famous foods of south India.

Learning dead languages.
It's not the first time his parents talked about and chatted with each other in dead languages. Njerep is the rarest language that has been declared extinct by experts in the human world (native to Cameroon), and he's fluent in it thanks to his parents. Latin, Icelandic language and Akkadian are his favourites, though.
Visiting museums.
His favourite thing to do once he has free time, specially at night. There's nobody, just a few guards here and there, but it's just him, his thoughts, and the art surrounding him. It leaves him with a feeling of dread, purity, nostalgia, all at once, feeling somewhat he's been there before a hundred of years ago, when he was younger, yet knowing it wasn't possible. Is this what humans feel when they are left alone, with nobody around to see this part of themselves? Is this a outer body experience...?
Taking Polaroids.
His room is literally decorated with them all over the walls. He loves taking them, remembering the scenes of places he's been, and the memories he shares with others...
⟅☙⟆ Occupation ⟅☙⟆
History and Math college teacher.
⟅☙⟆ Relationships ⟅☙⟆
Yumeko "Nana" Kurosawa.
He has a good relationship with his grandmother, whom he calls "Nana" since he was a child. She has taken care of him in difficult times for the family, him and his brothers. Even though she can barely do her housework due to her age and other things, he is more than happy to help and take care of her.
Yvonne Beauchene.
The only woman alive who can terrify him, but he admires that about her. His mother is a powerful person, Aimer wants to follow in her footsteps in terms of her way of keeping everything under control.
August Kurosawa.
Aimer is the papa's boy next to Convoitise. He embarrasses him a bit, but he knows his father just adores them. He loves spending time with him, and honestly? If he ever has children, Aimer hopes to be just like his father.
Convoitise Kurosawa.
Convoitise and Aimer get along like any pair of siblings. Sometimes they love each other, sometimes they hate each other, but they know very well that one would have a nervous breakdown if something serious happens to the other. Convoitise helps Aimer get out of his comfort zone, while Aimer helps him trust people more to let them see what he's really like... Even if both of them have trust issues.
Hela Kurosawa.
Honestly? Hela is a pain in the ass many times, especially since it is Aimer who usually gets her and the others out of trouble. This is not the first time that an ice cream truck or, literally, a drink machine has been robbed by them.
They can't stand each other sometimes, but Aimer helps her if she needs it.
Hela, on her part, would always help him with a thing or two in return.
Varick Kurosawa.
It takes a bit too much from Aimer to not kill his younger sibling. He just can't sit still so of course he has to solve his messes.
Ugh. He just wishes that attitude would change a bit as he grows up.
Volker Kurosawa.
The emo little brother of the family, but he is also the cutest. Volker and Aimer talk a lot, but the younger one knows that he can trust him if something happens... Although Volker prefers millions of times to go and rob a bank than to be good to his older brothers, but that's a separate issue-
Shoma Komori.
He met Shoma after a long day at work, with his brothers also frozen in the doorway. Well, it's not every day that you see a human girl malnourished to worrying levels with one eye missing and almost covered in blood while your mother cries inconsolably (especially when she never saw her cry).
Now, Aimer protects her with her life. She is her little girl, her baby, her girl, her angel. If someone dares to lay a hand on him, he will put her morals aside and go hunting.
Ai Blossom.
He met Ai when the girl was already dead. After a long talk about life and death, with the young blonde (now red-head) choosing her life, he brought her to life (Oh, well, something like that), and they ended up becoming friends because of the gossip they both had in her hands. They're basically those two friends who talk shit about everyone, including themselves, except each other.
It meets every Friday afternoon to relax with a fruit frappé and cheesecake. The best of the week for both.
Rose Inferno.
Holy shit this woman needs therapy.
Aimer loves her. She's literally one of the sweetest (ex)humans. But her crying at midnight is worrying...
Mystic Tsukinami. ( @mino-diabolik )
The love of his life (in fannon because Kino came first—) and husband. Aimer loves him so, so much and is completely grateful that he got to meet him, even if their beginnings weren't all so pink and roses.
They get along, and Aimer gets to tell him a bunch of old stuff, since he's considerably older than him in years.
⟅☙⟆ Likes ⟅☙⟆
The biggest sucker for literally any wholesome, slice-of-life shows. Literally doesn't need to have the greatest plot of all time, just cute stuff and wholesome stuff to watch after a shitty day.
As much as a pain being a college teacher it, he loves the first and second years students he works with. Some of them don't really have any experience in both work and real life, so helping them one way or another it actually quite rewarding.
The man is a hopeless romantic and, what I like to call them all, a "feeling masochist". He writes letter, both devastating and sweet, just to himself. Reading them every couple of years or so makes it clear to him that he changed for good, and a lot.
Literally listening to any Playlist in YouTube that catches his attention, especially those "Point of view" Playlists. Those are deep, man.
So. Many. Mystery and murder books. He's just so in love with the tension and drama of every story with those genres, that he can finish five or ten of those books per week. He's that in love with the genre.
The only acceptable anime movies that he can watch are the Studio Ghibli ones. Nothing else... Besides Gakuen Babysitters, Kotaro Lives Alone and Tsurezure Children.
The baby fever from this man is constant and it shows. Baby he sees, baby that he will make silly faces to, and help the mother with. Not the first time he helped students, both female and male, with their newborns.
⟅☙⟆ Dislikes ⟅☙⟆
Whatever the fuck Varick is listening inside their room.
When someone rushes a relationship with him. It's really uncomfortable to just sit there and listen the chick or dude you've been with fir two months talk about marriage already. Thank god those times changed... Mostly.
As much as he loves both of his parents, seeing them making dad and mom jokes makes him want to die. It's so embarrassing jesus christ.
Whoever thought that non-sweet drinks were a good idea deserves a special place in hell. Water is the only exception.
... North America. Fuck everyone in that place. The teenagers too.
⟅☙⟆ Fears and Phobias ⟅☙⟆
Cacophobia (Fear of Ugliness): Is an intense fear of ugliness. People with this anxiety disorder may fear becoming ugly. Or they might have symptoms of panic and anxiety when they think about or see something ugly. Cacophobia is one of only a few phobias that are subjective instead of objective. The individual determines what is ugly and, therefore, scary.

He would like to start working for the world. He wants to travel to Europe first, but he knows that he needs a plan first.
He was in a abusive relationship for a pretty long time, which took a tool on his mental, emotional and physical health. His now ex girlfriend is missing after a blow-up for him trying to break things off.
He's been in therapy for six years now, and he's still going when needed to.

Thanks for answering me!
Follow up question. I have seen many arts depicting both helion and Lucien as proud black men with braids and loc. i have also seen many fans stating that both Lucien and helion are BIPOC, and getting real heated when it’s debated, mostly on tiktok. would that be an accurate depiction and description or not? I am from a small rural town, and perhaps it is small minded og me..but I have not known anyone from an Egyptian or middle eastern background..are they accurate depictions of the people? I read moononastrings reblog, and it was very interesting to note that SJM envisioned helion as Persian. I’m also confused by SJMs use of “golden brown” skin tone. I’ve seen people say vassa depictions are racist..but I don’t know, I think “golden brown” is sort of ambiguous to be honest, which is annoying and that’s on sjm.
I’m so sorry. I just get really confused by some of the arts I see, and the discourse and accusations of racism around them.
You're welcome! Thank you for the asks 😊
First off, I don't love when anyone in the fandom maliciously accuses someone of being racist. I have no problem with anyone of any race, of any sexuality, of any gender (and so on) however, as a straight white individual, I do not doubt that at some point in my life, I have inadvertently said something that someone who is a POC, LGBQT, etc. might have found offensive. Not because I would ever want to insult someone or say something inappropriate regarding those above things but because I am not 100% educated on something that I am not. I will never fully understand what others have experienced or everything that might be considered tactless because I will never completely understand the struggle they have experienced in a world that makes things easier on white straight people. I do my best. I TRY to be aware of what I'm saying. But I know I will unintentionally put my foot in my mouth at times for the rest of my life.
And I hope that someone who can understand what it means to be any of the above will take the time to educate me. I hope they will see enough of who I am and how I say things to kindly point out why whatever I've said might not be the best.
There are people that are very obviously racist or homophobic and of course there should be no tolerance for that. However I do think a majority of readers really are a bit uninformed about certain things or unaware because we really haven't been in a position to fully understand why our thinking might be wrong. And in those scenarios it does bother me when the Go To response is aggression especially because SJM is very unclear and a bit confusing when it comes to descriptions about her characters. I honestly don't think it's that people don't like the idea of Lucien looking a lot like Helion. I think it's that when the author gave us his description as - sharp, elegant features, golden skin a few shades darker than his notably pale brothers, big mystery surrounding who his real father is where only one character has had an "Ah-Ha" moment regarding it, it has truly created a lot of confusion for readers. Because it doesn't make sense to them that Lucien could look so much like Helion that others wouldn't notice. That Lucien himself wouldn't have noticed.
As far as fanart, I do think an attempt should be made to get the golden brown coloring somewhat accurate though I understand that even that has a sliding scale. Would that be somewhere along the lines of Halle Berry? Darker than that? Beyond that though, "sharp, elegant features" and Helion's nose and mouth are very difficult to capture accurately. Maybe I'm an idiot for this but I've searched through pictures of mixed race Egyptian men, Persian men, and Black Men trying to get a better image in my head of what he's supposed to look like but that really doesn't help because I still worry about whether I am doing justice to his fathers side while also paying mind to the fact that it's still a mystery for most of the characters.
I think that might be a problem a lot of artists / commissioners are having. If you lean too far one way, people find it unrealistic that other characters wouldn't have known by now. If you lean too far the other, you're racist. There's a middle somewhere but it's a bit of a struggle to figure out what that looks like. It's a very uncomfortable position to be in and unless we have outright proof that someone is in fact racist, I don't think it hurts to be a little more gentle in how we approach our discussions and to remember that maybe the person is truly confused on exactly what SJM has in her head for Lucien. At the end of the day, it's her character and unless she can show us a picture to show "THIS is Lucien", then we're all just making guesses.

Drawing with colored pencils can be so difficult because I have moments of “this characters skin tone is between peach and (scholar) sienna and if I mix those two colors it Will Not turn out the way I need it to and I don’t have a pencil to match this.” and then I also have moments of “oh this characters dress is literally copenhagen blue I didn’t even have to swatch anything holy fuck”
